Jealous Windbreaker Characters Headcanon

When they see you talking with someone who is clearly flirting with you.

Characters mentioned: Jay, Vinny, Owen, and Joker. x fem! reader

Jay

He doesn’t show it.

He acts as if everything is fine in the beginning because he does trust you. After all, having been able to break through the barrier of the eunuch speaks for itself.

Yet, if the other person keeps approaching you and flirting with you, that’s when he will get really serious. And no not serious as in he will come up to you two while talking and do the whole protective boyfriend act. Not at all.

He will wait for you to finish the conversation, come back to him, and then he will hold you by your hand glaring at the person who approached you and taking you away. He would also be by your side no matter what if he ever saw that person approach you again.

Jay is a man of few words, but with his actions, he can still show you how he feels.

If that person keeps constantly annoying you, literally making you feel uncomfortable, that's when he will intervene and protect his girl.

To sum it up, he won’t show it but if you notice these small gestures you will be able to understand that he in fact cares quite a lot.

Vinny

It certainly depends on what kind of person the one trying to flirt with you is. If they are a street thug or just a random plain person in the street.

Vinny would come behind you throwing daggers at the person. He wouldn’t talk but his tall well-built body and facial expression would be enough to make anyone pee their pants and run off leaving you in the middle of the conversation.

On the other hand, if that person looked rich or kind of important that’s where Vinny’s insecurities would show.

He would again be behind you with a stern expression on his face but this time there would be no confidence in him.

And the more your conversation got prolonged the more he would feel like he maybe wasn’t a good fit for you. Every possible reason why you are better off without him would run through his mind and in the end, if that person left you would be facing an extremely annoyed Vinny who would stay silent and say words to try and push you away for your own good.

Yet, he would totally regret it and keep thinking about how he treated you, still, he would have no courage to come up and tell you that.

On the other hand, if he saw that you were uncomfortable or if you told him that you didn’t like how that person approached you and was talking to you he would regain some kind of confidence and next time wrap his hand around your waist in a protective manner if the person approached you again.

Owen

Somebody approaching you? No no my dear nobody would be approaching just you, they would be approaching you and Owen both if they so badly wanted to try.

How could you even imagine Owen leaving your side even for just a second anyway. The guy would be glaring and insulting the person who approached you right in their face.

To add more insult to it he would grab you by your shoulder and pull you away, no matter who that person is, nobody flirts with his girl right under his nose.

If on the other hand, Owen was not there, don’t worry a member of the Light Cavalry would be, maybe some meters away, but they would always be on the lookout for any kind of danger after Owen's relentless begging to not let you alone.

If Owen left you for some minutes and came back seeing somebody trying to flirt with you and you smiling at them or even casually talking kindly to them, he would be pissed.

After glaring at the person, he would cling to you, wrap an arm around your waist, pull you closer, kiss you on the forehead in front of them, and even go as far as grabbing your hand and kissing it while staring down at the person in front of him.

After that, he would constantly hug you, and lean on you, giving you a puppy look and asking why you smiled at the person or talked with them, who they were, and if they were important to you.

No matter your answer he would have that sad puppy look on his face all the time after that.

The best way to proceed with this guy is to give him a kiss out of nowhere or take him by surprise with something that he likes so he would forget about the incident.

Joker

He is a very jealous type.

If he sees someone flirting with you, he is not going to let that pass. He will wait for you to finish talking with them, send you home, and then smash their face if they are a guy in the back of an alley.

Nobody approaches his girl or dares to flirt with her.

He won’t be telling you any of that though, he will act as if everything is okay and he doesn’t care about the other person. But you will be able to notice the way he harshly grabs onto the chair he is sitting on. Or how his whole mood will change into a gloomy one.

If you ask why he is acting that way he won't tell you the truth and act as if everything it’s fine.

Worse if someone is flirting with you and he sees that you are actually enjoying the conversation. That person might end up half-dead at the door of the hospital the next day.

After that, he will be all petty, and not respond to anything you ask or say. Will look away, and this time if you ask him what’s wrong he will just give you the silent treatment.

It’s not because he is petty about you talking with other guys, it's because he, like Vinny, feels that he is not good enough for you and you deserve more than he has to offer.

This attitude of his won’t last long anyway. As soon as he sees that he has upset you, he will go to the underground fighting club. He won’t meet you for a week working hard day and night making money so he can buy something for you.

When he comes with his gift he will wait for you at your front door and if you don’t go out he might sleep there the whole night clutching tightly onto the present he has for you.

How can you even think of being mad at him after that? You will forgive him and try to talk it out so there won’t be a next time.

windbreaker characters & their possible love trope (part 1)

warnings : no in general, maybe a ooc, but its my point of view, fluff

Dom - arranged marrige. we take into account the fact that Dom is the heir of the yakuza. His father had long dreamed of the idea of uniting the two clans to expand the business, strengthen the position, and in general he was very close with the head of another clan, you know the type of male friendship when they brag about who has the coolest car and everything like that. (for about the same reason, you and Dom have an age difference of a couple of months) In general, when you were born, your fathers did not immediately decide that this would be a planned marriage, they still wanted freedom of choice for their children, but the two old men were too fascinated when you and Dom played together in the sandbox, or you two shared toys, and overall you got along great as babies. But as the years passed, interests changed, and from about 2-3 grades you began to have a "crisis in relationships", Dom were more interested in the "boyish" things, you in turn discovered the Internet and the charms of fictional characters (real footage of all of us). Therefore, your communication has gone from about infantile sympathy to childish antipathy when boys say "eeew girls, im not interested in them" and to the complete cessation of communication over the years. Well, your fathers also almost lost hope, trying to try on two fifth graders at holiday feasts, but everything ended up making faces at each other, and Dom’s first showed middle finger and yours first obscene phrases in response to him (later you both received a cradle from your parents) but the decision had already been made, and so everyone decided to just wait.

In fact, everything happened spontaneously. As it happens, girls grow faster, and there were no exceptions with you. So since you saw each other less often, Dom did not immediately recognize you, and of course refused to admit to himself that he liked you, and he decided to shove this sympathy away. A couple more years have passed, and you again super accidentally (no) met at one of your parents' clubs. This time it was your turn not to recognize Dom. And when you realized in the morning whose house you were in, you were shocked. So it tooks you two another 1-2 years to actually accept that planned things needed to be done and the idea of marriage in the first place wasn’t that bad.

Owen - forbidden love/ rivals/ competitors. While you honestly believed that your boiling hate for each other was mutual, Owen found it quite cute and intriguing how each time you trying to compete with him and how mad you get if you lose or if he jokingly flirts with you. Of course, he found you quite an interesting opponent, but you attracted him more as a girl, although it was still difficult because of your rival teams, and as Camila once told him when she noticed how he was staring at you at another training session, where he came intentionally before the rest of the Light Cavalry participants, "This won't be good for the image of our team." Usually you see him in training center, when your team finishes training, or when you wait for Light Cavalry to finish, or on the competitions and it always ends with your threatenings to his life or his bike. Of course you didn’t mean it so serious, it was kinda like tradition - he always so nice and jokes around while you all loud and screaming at him for his flirting lines.

Usually, you two never see each other somewhere in the city or on the streets, apparently you lived in different areas and everyday affairs were too different from each other, but somehow, now, almost at 11 pm, you look at each other in surprise, standing in the park, where both of you came to practice and free your heads from burdened thoughts. Owen wanted to break the awkward silence by greeting you, but you beat him to it by sternly asking “What are you doing here?” He smiled softly and running his hand through his hair, as he replied “I came here just to clear my head before sleep, shortcake. I hadn’t any intentions to interrupt you.” And looking up at you again, he smiled so sweetly, in his usual manner. You clicked irritably and went to meet him, “Then, since you're already here, let's have a race, and the loser is looking for another park, deal?” Again, she frowned so sweetly at her eyebrows, just the very seriousness - Owen thought to himself looking down at you from his height. Like all the smartest, the idea was certainly not bad, you even thought at the moment that you were about to win, because the agreed finish was already around the corner, when suddenly Owen jumped out from behind you and did a risky trick that allowed him to get ahead. But unfortunately, either out of surprise or confusion, you lost control and collapsed almost at the finish line. Your speed was decent, and your knees, shoulders and arms had a hard time now, all bleeding. Slowly rising from the ground, you felt such resentment and at the same time anger, either at yourself or at Owen. And all such a seething feeling of resentment, because of such a small mistake, to lose at the very finish, overwhelmed you with your head, and flowed out with tears from your eyes. You sat down by your fallen bike, hugged your bleeding knees and buried your forehead in them letting yourself cry. Suddenly you felt someone stroking your head and sitting down next to you, putting his hands on your shoulders. Looking up, as you expected, you saw Owen, and shrugged your shoulders and squeal at him “Get the fuck away from me! I don’t need your pity and help!” “Hey, hey, easy shortcake, im not a monster to let girl, who is also injured, be alone in park at night.” He tried to take you by the shoulders again. “I said get away!” You clearly didn’t planned to stop crying, and Owen understood that you’ll have a tantrum in a moment, so he decided to ignore your screams and pulled you closer, already hugging you completely. Of course, you didn't appreciate this gesture, you started pounding him in the chest with your fists, shouting for him to let go, for you to try again, that this time you would definitely defeat him and in general how much you dislike him. And Owen just held you tight, and let your screams and crying be drowned out in his sweater. After a couple of minutes, you were just crying into his chest while he pulled you closer, sat you down between his legs and just gently stroked your back.

When you finally calmed down and raised your tear-stained, red eyes to him, Owen gently put his hand on your cheek and quietly asked, “Well, have you calmed down? Will you let me help you now, shortcake?” taking a confused look away from him and blushing, you said, “If anyone finds out about this, you're finished, got it?” Owen laughed loudly and pulled you closer to him, and dropping his free hand on your cheek, gently kissed you.

Harry - hate/love or sunny/grumpy. Even ignoring the fact that you’ve been in the same team, he somehow never liked you. Honestly, he didnt even know the reason. You had such a bright personality, always nice to people around and guys in team,but still defended your interests and borders when it was necessary. Harry just couldn’t stand you. In his eyes you were quite ideal, he even accepted that you were kinda powerful at cycling. But most blood boiling fact about you were that Harry knew perfectly - he had a thing for you, but he decided for himself to hide it under mask of indifference and disinterest, because come on, feelings make you weak (such a men moment)

But the other thing about you that Harry absolutely couldn’t stand - is your tears. He saw it only twice, once when it was your first year with the Light Cavalry, the team came to wish you a happy birthday right at 12 a.m., and you burst into tears from the joy and sweetness of this act of attention. And the other time was when Harry himself brought you to tears, because you chewed his brains all day. He think that sometimes you have a bad habit activated, walking around and teasing him all day, offering to compete in something, and just dripping on his brain, because you probably have a pleasure to bring him to a white heat. And when he couldn't stand it one more time, he turned sharply at you and barked - "Are you a complete idiot? I think I told you to fuck off from me, leave me alone and go fuck someone else's brains out. How many times can I tell you, I don't intend to compete with someone like you," - and Harry took care to squeeze the word "like" like poison into your mind. And fortunately for him, as he convinced himself, you stopped bothering him after that time and resorted to communicating with him only in the most necessary cases. So for the first few days he liked how you avoided him, but after a week and a half of your absence from his daily life, he began to feel sad and guilty for being harsh with you... But wasn’t it your own fault!? That's right, it was your fault. But didn't he like your attention? Wasn't he warmed by the rays of your warmth?.. Damn, all these thoughts were difficult for Harry, and he did it easier - he left training earlier, stopped by the store on the way, bought a random gift that reminded him of you, went to your house and waited for you at the entrance to the house. To say less, you were shocked when you saw him near the building were you live, but decided to act all cool and just to pass by. He didn’t let you. Harry grabbed your elbow, but you tried to pull away, he turned you around to face him and grabbed your other elbow. “Let me go, you creep!!” You could feel how tears forming in your eyes. You didn’t understand why he even came here, he supposed to be in other place, he supposed to hate you, he supposed… “For the fuck sake just shut up and take it.” He handed you a gift. You were confused and looked up at him with an obvious question “why?” in your pretty eyes. Harry clicked tongue, left your elbows and started to walk away. When you softly mumbled “Thank you” he turned around and quickly closing the distance, he awkwardly hugged you. For the first few seconds you freaked out, but gave up and hugged him back and mumbled "You idiot" in his hoodie. Harry chuckled at your comment and squeezed your back harder "At least im not a crybaby as someone". He got a reminder that you can kick his knees pretty hard.

Hwangyeon - school crush. You were quite popular girl from his class - moderately smart, kind, but not enough to take advantage of your kindness, beautiful and friendly person in general. The fact that Hwang tried to get your attention by his money flex, “cool” - as he thought - actions towards other people in school, where so obvious, as the fact that he liked you. But you weren’t impressed by his shitty personality and usually you treated him coldly or mocked him about he is trying to assert himself at the expense of others. Was he mad at you for that? No, of course, he melted like butter in a hot frying pan from every second of your attention, and bragging to his boys that you two had “conversation”.

Actually his friends, everyone around and mainly Sangho were tired of Hwang’s whinings at home and he told him what to do. So here he is, standing in doors of your class begging you to help him with his english class. Since he asked you nicely and promised not to mock students as long as you help him, you agreed to tutor him for some topics that he couldn’t understand. So with time you two became a little bit closer and you even been in his place and know Hwang’s siblings. (both of them thought that he is paying you to be his friend*) In the midst of one of these preparations Hwangyeon was whining about how he didn’t understand anything and probably won’t pass this exam. You hated the fact that he was giving up fast and easy, but luckily you knew how to motivate this guy. In a second, you grabbed his cheeks with both hands, turned his head towards you and said “Listen, we’ve been preparing for this for so long and you gonna drop everything because of small misunderstanding? I already wanted to take you out for ice cream if you wrote this test better than the guy who sits behind me at school, but since you've already given up, well, I guess i’ll have to go with him instead.” you said slowly letting his cheeks go. Hwang took your hand, to let it stay on his cheek and rise his eyes up on you and with dead serious eyes muttered “If my score will be higher than 75%, we will go for that ice cream.” You smiled at him and said that it is deal.

Spoiler : his score was 68% his friends and you laughed at him for his bragging before exam, but you still took him to that ice cream shop and kissed his cheek for a good bye.

*bonus

its been quite long preparation session for english final exam before summer weekends, so you decided to continue at Hwang’s place. it wasn’t your first time visiting his place, maybe third or fourth, so his siblings already knew you, when you enter the house. you greeted everyone, warned them that you would be preparing for the exam and went to Hwang’s room. after few hours of studying you were tired of punching and shouting at your friend so you left the room for glass of juice and in the dim light of the kitchen you met Sangho with his laptop and glass of something probably alcoholic. you stare at each other for a second and you awkwardly announced that you came for pack of juice that two of you left in fridge. Sangho mumbled something softly and turned back to his laptop, when you were about to leave the room he raised his eyes from laptop again and asked in serious voice “did he pay you?”

you froze in place you were standing and on stiff legs, turning to him. “mhmm?”

“did my brother pay you to pretend to be his friend or whatever you two are?”

“n-no? he just asked me for help, t-that’s why im here!” he grunted something like okay and went back to his laptop. when door after you closed, Aria got out from behind the sofa and held out her hand to her brother. Sangho, in turn, pulled a banknote out of his pocket and gave it to his sister without a word.

author's note: I fell in love again and I need to share my Wind Breaker headcanons with the world. I wanted to add more but I might just do part 2 for the rest of the boys. likes and reblogs are greatly appreciated! 🫶

VINNY: it's notoriously well-known that waking up sleeping Vinny is impossible unless he can smell something delicious or hear people talking about food. that being sad, it is also absolutely impossible to get out of his embrace in the morning. arms hugging your waist, his chin resting on the top of your head and your legs intertwined, there is nowhere for you to go. once Vinny actually wakes up, he plants a soft kiss on the top of your head (but if you mention him doing that he will deny it like his life depends on it) and only then will he let go. your favorite past-time has to be annoying him because his reactions are always priceless. for example when you two are brushing your teeth side by side and you end up pulling faces looking at him through the mirror. it's all worth it just to see him almost spit out his toothpaste and throw you a death glare that softens into a loving eye-roll.

JAY: cooking with Jay is one of your favorite moments. if you weren't a good cook, Jay is the perfect teacher thanks to his patience, so even if you mess up he wouldn't get angry (but he might make the cutest puzzled expressions over the possible catastrophes you manage to create while working on a fairly straightforward beginner friendly recipe). those puppy-like faces just make u wanna smooch him and he definitely doesn't mind. that being said, he is frustratingly proper and won't just ditch the cooking for a make-out session (his mind is definitely running with ideas but his self-control is something to behold, unfortunately). he will just resume cooking, this time standing right behind you and guiding you through your second attempt. just know he knows what he's doing and that you did not learn anything while he was in such a close proximity and all you could think about was how nice it feels to be in his arms and that his shampoo smells amazing.

DOM: everyone knows that Dom got really passionate about biking and now his mind is literally filled with it and nothing else. but exams are coming up and he is in great need of intervention to not repeat the year again. you'd think helping him study would be pretty straightforward but it's definitely not. half the time you just find him gazing at you with heart eyes and content smile. sometimes it's necessary to just bonk his head with your textbook to bring him back to earth. but can you blame him? he is just really curious about the new chapstick he saw you use. so to motivate him to study you have to bet something on the line and suddenly he is back to being the Mr. Passionate everyone knows him to be. it only takes the promise of a few kisses and his motivation is back in overdrive.

OWEN: Owen is great at distracting you. if you are having a tough time or just need to do something to forget about your troubles for a bit, he is the best person to go to. he's going to search up places to take you to – pretty cafes that are absolutely instagram worth and shopping trip that will make your feet hurt and your closet overflow because he will not hold back. if he sees your gaze linger on something he is pushing it into your arms to try it. it's definitely not just a treat for you, don't be mistaken. he loves seeing you show off the items and bonus points if you need him to help you zip something up. he plays it all cool and suave but his fingers are shaking a little bit, he takes his sweet time with it and then he makes sure to send you a naughty smile with a compliment that makes you weak in the knees.

JOKER: Joker isn't really a fan of having you attend his underground fights. it makes him uneasy, thinking he will scare you away and that you might be used against him if someone decides to look for his weakness. that doesn't stop you from showing up anyway and patching him up. at this point you are both used to this silent dance of you cleaning his cuts and cooling down his soon-to-be-bruises. when you finish up, he brings you closer between his thighs and hugs your midriff since he is usually sitting down before you and rests his head on your chest/stomach listening to your calming heartbeat. before he let's go he whispers soft “thanks.” and offers a faint barely there smile that somehow still manages to make your heart skip a beat.

The whole thing is very intimate for the two of you.

The decor matches the both of you and the vibe.. the color scheme is on point… everything just flows between you two.

⠀ | WHEN YOU AND WOOIN GET YOUR FIRST apartment together, it’s a mess! The whole thing was really uncoordinated but you guys still made it.

The first few weeks of the move involves a lot of back and forth the two of you but you eventually get it together and start decorating.

You guys have a hard time find balance between it though. It can’t be a crazy man cave y’know?

You never did figure out how he had the funding for an apartment, and you never figured out how guided him through all of it.

You’re way too excited to dive into these details though. And he seemed happy too, also emotional… but he covered it up shortly after. A façade, almost.

Owen is so fun, I love him so much. He's good at singing and dancing. Animals love him to the point that if he is outside for too long they flock to him. He loves sweets more then anything in life and will almost always drop anything he is doing if offered a good enough sweet. He's so cute and from that description alone sounds so sweet, but in reality he is so jaded, guarded, and scared to dare get close to anyone. He needs to be his idealized villain so that a hero comes and kills him because he can't be rescued anymore!

He's so lonely and sad because no one will ever understand but if someone even tries to understand him he lashes out because it wounds his pride that someone thinks he needs to be understood. He can't allow someone even arms length near him because he is terrified what it might mean to allow someone to care about him. Him, a guy that can't remember his past and has crafted his whole personality to be nasty, mean, evil, and untrusting because he was viewed like that for hundreds of years. He was viewed as a monster, as a freak! So he made himself one and now he doesn't know how to be anything else even if someone trusts him.

He's terrified of even being perceived as a slightly good person. If he is a good person then he can't be rescued or slain and he needs one. If he can't have either then he shouldn't even exisit.

Edgar and Philip’s Friendship Headcanons

-Edgar and Philip know each other since they were very young. They were always in the same school.

-Edgar started playing soccer after Philip shows him some tricks. He decided to join the junior club that Philip was in.

-In the soccer junior club, Edgar and Philip knew and befriended Edge, Jonny, Gary and Nick. The others like Paul or Mickey will join later, whereas others like Freddy came from another club.

-Despite looking almost adults, they are only 14 years old at the time of Season 3.

-Philip considers Edgar and his sisters as his own siblings since he doesn’t have any brothers or sisters. Also since Edgar doesn’t have any brothers, Philip is almost like a big brother to him.

-So yeah, Philip is slightly older than Edgar. Edgar was born on July 24th whereas Philip was born on April 30st.

-When they were 8 years old, Edgar lost his mother after she gave birth to his baby sister Milly. Philip tried his best to confort Edgar and his family. But the next day, he didn’t show up at school.

-Philip started to get really worried when he didn’t came for an entire week. When he decided to check on his friend, nobody was at home, or so it seems...

-He will find an underground room where experiments seems to be made ; there, he finds Edgar tied up, with multiple syringe-like wounds all over his uncovered chest. His hair also grew way longer, but what worried Philip even more was blood coming out of his mouth and nose.

-Edgar was quite frail as a kid, but Philip was way stronger, at least until Edgar surpassed him.

-When Philip confessed that he had a crush on Leone Balone, the forward from The Empire, Edgar completely supports him and convinced him to go for it, which worked ! (Philip was a bit scared since Edgar have had a relationship with Thiago but he replied that this has nothing to do with them and that it can work for them).

-Philip became more “classy” and elegant by staying with Edgar. He kinda idolizes him for that.

-Edgar can’t read correctly : he has to wear glasses to read. Philip was often reading stuff to him as a reflex over knowing his “disability”.

-They kinda like cosplaying and creating random stories together. It often ends with them laughing all over again as it often goes too far in terms of goofy stuff...

-Philip was always taller than Edgar...well, except for 6 years (when Edgar was experimented). After that, Philip was taller again.

-Philip has always loved to cook for Edgar, and also for his sisters.

-Philip is color-blind, and Edgar always tried to help him analyze the colours. When he is looking for colours, Edgar always tells him which colour it is right now, etc...

-They knows when the other is in a bad state. For example, when Edgar is injured, Philip knows it despite not being with him. If one is a bad state, the other will feel it and will do anything to join and help the other.

After that, Curt was a fucking menace & never let him live it down. He’d sneak up on him & launch a surprise tickle attack, he’ll constantly bring up how he “can’t believe” how ticklish he is, he’ll even mock his laugh & say how even his laugh sounds posh. Really, Owen had the patience of a saint & Curt really took it for granted

He bides his time, giving him a chance to back tf off with all the teasing, but one night when they’re sharing a hotel room (with only 1 bed mind you) Curt keeps tickling him & it’s really not funny because he just wants to sleep damnit! Cut it out, I mean it! & Curt goes to squeeze his hip again & all of a sudden he’s laying flat on his back with an angry, very smug Owen hovering over him & his life flashes before his eyes. He gives a nervous lil grin & tilts his head like “y-you got me, I’ll leave you alone now” & Owen’s like “oh no no no, you’ve been tormenting me for months, you’re not weaseling out of this that easy” & Curt really should learn to shut up because he doesn’t even think twice before saying “well what took you so long to snap?”

& now it’s Owen’s turn to give him an evil smile & cups his ear like “I’m sorry, what did you just say?” & Curt’s really struggling now, but Owen has him pinned pretty good & he’s sputtering out apology after apology saying how he’ll never tease him again lies & he’ll drop the whole thing. But Owen is smirking so much as he leans down & asks “Curt… now be honest… have you been doing all this hoping I’d get my revenge?” & Curt’s heart has never beat so fast in his entire life & he answers so quick he literally cuts him off by yelling “NO!” & then much cooler “no, why would I want that?” & Owen just hums “oh I don’t know, maybe because it would mean my hands would be all over you” & he waits for Curt to try to argue before striking. He miiiight have gone a bit overboard, but he had a lot of revenge to catch up on. & it’s not like he didn’t give Curt an out, he just refused to “break” to something as “stupid” as tickling, so it was really his fault. He swears his throat didn’t hurt after that brutal attack, but when they wake up the next morning his voice is shot & he can barely speak above a whisper. Of course now it’s Owen’s turn to never let him live it down. “I can’t believe you were giving me so much shit when you’re 10 times as bad as I am!”

Dance With Me, Jon Snow

Hey there. So I’ve been sweetly tortured by a headcanon ever since I read @cappymightwrite anon meta, and now it’s time for you to be sweetly tortured by it too.

Wait! Last minute addition inserted right here! I’ve just realized I never actually finished Cappy’s meta. Sorry! The thing is, it’s super long and every time I’ve tried to finish it, I’ve gotten way too excited. Seriously. Such jittery energy. And then I have to scurry off to channel that energy into something like writing snippets of one-shots I’ve never posted. But basically, I think Cappy says way more brilliant stuff than I’m about to but doesn’t directly say my headcanon despite coming very, very close at some points.. So, yeah, I just wanted to clarify that distinction before moving ahead. ❤ Okay, let’s review! As Cappy’s meta taught us, “anon” means soon or shortly. That means when Alys uses the word in the passage below, she uses it incorrectly.

When Owen the Oaf began to dance with Patchface the fool, laughter echoed off the vaulted ceiling. The sight made Lady Alys smile. “Do you dance often, here at Castle Black?” “Every time we have a wedding, my lady.” “You could dance with me, you know. It would be only courteous. You danced with me anon.” “Anon?” teased Jon. “When we were children.” She tore off a bit of bread and threw it at him. “As you know well.” “My lady should dance with her husband.” — ADWD, Jon X

Cappy has some great stuff to say about this, though the strikethroughs and bracketed additions are mine. 😜

Jon immediately picks up on this fumble [and thinks of Sansa, as my headcanon will imply], though tellingly perhaps, he does not clarify this mix up to the reader, he simply repeats it quizzically and teasingly back to her. I’d wager that was very intentional on GRRM’s part — an instance where he is encouraging his reader to do a bit of investigative work, instead of offering up a clear explanation right there on the page. [once again hiding Jon’s direct thoughts of Sansa. That’s the headcanon, anyway. Give me a minute to explain it better.]

So Alys uses “anon” incorrectly, but two Jon POV chapters later, he uses it correctly when thinking to himself. He’s watching the wildlings pass through the Wall. It’s taking all day. When they start to jostle each other, Jon realizes it’s more than impatience. It’s fear. And then there’s a new paragraph with the new anon line. 🆕

A snowflake danced upon the air. Then another. Dance with me, Jon Snow, he thought. You’ll dance with me anon. — ADWD, Jon XII

The line feels out of the blue to me, which got me thinking about another headcanon I’ve shared — the one I already linked in my bracketed additions above. Maybe you’ve read it before? It’s about the scene where Jon sees Val with Ghost, her physical description changes to be more like Sansa’s, and he thinks that it’s been a long time since he’s seen such a lovely sight. Then, two pages later, there’s the willowy creature line.

Val looked the part [of a princess] and rode as if she had been born on horseback. A warrior princess, he decided, not some willowy creature who sits up in a tower, brushing her hair and waiting for some knight to rescue her. — ADWD, Jon XII

Basically, I made the argument that even though it isn’t acknowledged on the page, Jon knew he’d briefly, unwillingly thought of Sansa. I wrote, “Go read it again, and I think you’ll see that when the willowy creature line happens, it actually feels like a weird logic leap. The dots aren’t connecting because one dot is missing!!!!” 🔍 To me, it seems like this second “anon” line is similar (but without Jon’s defensiveness which leads to a judgemental thought). In short, both are seemingly out of the blue because GRRM is hiding something from us. My evidence to support this is limited, but I do have some. As Cappy pointed out, Jon and Sansa both have memories of snowflakes falling on Robb’s hair the day they left Winterfell. Jon thinks about it a few more times than Sansa does, but here are some examples from both of them, as a reminder. ❄

He remembered the day he had left Winterfell, all the bittersweet farewells; Bran lying broken, Robb with snow in his hair, Arya raining kisses on him after he'd given her Needle. — AGOT, Jon V He remembered Robb as he had last seen him, standing in the yard with snow melting in his auburn hair. — AGOT, Jon IX She had last seen snow the day she'd left Winterfell. That was a lighter fall than this, she remembered. Robb had melting flakes in his hair when he hugged me… — ASOS, Sansa VII

Let me come back to this in a second. I now want to make sure it’s very clear that Jon’s thoughts while the wildlings pass through the Wall — the second “anon” line in the book — are a callback to Alys, sure, but he isn’t quoting her, right? As previously established, she uses anon incorrectly whereas he uses it correctly. Plus she never says, “Dance with me, Jon Snow.” Those are not her words. 🚫 So what is Jon recalling in that moment, if not Aly’s wedding day? Well, I guess it could be argued that he isn’t recalling anything in paticular. It could be a pure daydream, a piece of foreshadowing and nothing else. But that doesn’t sit right with me. I think this line is a direct hint at moments from Jon and Sansa’s shared past. Because, correct me if I’m wrong, but the books have plenty of instances of characters repeating past conversations and quotes to themselves (“You know nothing, Jon Snow,” is one that leaps out at me, of course), but not instances of characters making up fake conversations that could happen in the future. So here’s my headcanon. “Dance with me, Jon Snow.” ← A younger, courteous Sansa who loves to dance tried to help Jon feel involved during some fancy feast where he’s mopping in the corner (to quote the show). Given the next line, he must have obliged. 🆗 “You’ll dance with me anon.” ← What Sansa said to Jon the day she left for King’s Landing and he left for the Wall. It was her way of saying, “This isn’t goodbye forever.” 💃 It’s the way they both think of Robb with snow melting in his hair that really does it for me. It’s so close to a shared memory, almost like they were in the courtyard at the same time. And yet GRRM doesn’t tell us about their final goodbyes to each other!? Yep, put another tally in the column labeled Jon Was Directly Thinking of Sansa In That Moment But We’re Not Supposed to Know That Yet. That’s my headcanon and I’m sticking to it. I’m never going to get around to putting into in a fic, so here’s a Tumblr post instead. 🎉
