Marvel crybaby want comic book accuracy but then complain when comic book accuracy applies to the women of the mcu. Like the way Carol or Wanda are "overpowered" or the way Kamala looks up to Carol with sparkling eyes and big adoration.

For so long there has been this constant radfem fearmongering about “the male gaze” and “fetishizing” and whatnot about literally anything that’s meant to be sexy and titillating, and that’s led to way too many people, especially queer people and especially trans people, to be ashamed of experiencing any kind of attraction and desire or just plain horniness that goes outside an arbitrary pure innocent submissive boundary. And this attitude has spread to so many other communities that it’s inescapable. Can’t be attracted to trans people because that’s “fetishizing.” Can’t be attracted to disabled people cause that’s “fetishizing.” Can’t be attracted to people who are fat or muscular or petite or any other specific body trait or type cause that’s “fetishizing.” 🙄
To me it all stems from this overblown disgust with what cishet men are supposedly into and making a sweeping generalization from that, that anything that a hypothetical cishet dude might find sexy is bad and “male gazey.” We deviated too far from the actual concerns about the needless sexualization in general cisheteronormative society and instead decided to start policing actual adult content that is specifically meant to be sexualized.
Hot take perhaps (sarcastic) but cis straight guys being horny is not an inherently bad thing, and the things they like aren’t inherently bad either. Yeah even the fetishy stuff is fine, really. Unwanted objectification is the real issue, and that’s not what I’m talking about here. So same with how any cishet guys reading this should not feel guilt or shame for being horny about stuff, so shouldn’t anyone else feel guilt or shame for being horny about similar things.
Being sexually attracted to women or having the desire to top or be dominant doesn’t mean you’re “no better than some gross straight dude.” It’s not an indictment of your character, nor “proof” that you aren’t who you really are. Whether you’re cis or trans or whatever gender, kill the radfem pearlclutching homophobe in your brain and be free. You’re doing no one any good, especially not yourself, by curtailing your true desires. There is beauty in your sexuality. Don’t let anyone, including yourself, convince you otherwise.

Tokyo Revengers [preferences]
Type: Fluff
Warning: Male reader, G/N reader, Tall!male/GN reader, bxb, Shorter!Character, fluff, (Idk what else xD)
Author Note: In general, I apologize to those who were waiting for One Shot, but honestly, I was too lazy to do it and I forgot that I even had this application xDD So I'm giving you preferences, which I hope are good. And there has been a slight change in my block, I will write Smuts but only for characters 16+ or 18+. Not 15 and under that age.
Their reaction when you're taller than them. PART 1
Tumblr media
ManjirĂž Sano:
It's not a challenge to be taller than him, but to be 2 meters and how many centimeters? Mikey thought you were some kind of giant.
In the first moments of your acquaintance, he wouldn't like you because you looked like you were everyone's enemy due to your height and appearance. But when Mikey got to know you better and noticed that you had a great personality, the boy loved you just as quickly as he disliked you.
He thought you were an interesting type of guy and wanted to know as much as he could about your past and you. Mikey didn't know why, you just had something about your personality and looks that piqued his interest.
However, when your relationship reached a higher stage after some time (I bet after a few weeks, at most 4 months), the blonde would use your height as a playground because he would climb on you every now and then and want you to carry him. Draken was then SUPER grateful that you existed because he didn't have to take care of Mikey so much.
Sometimes he would scare his opponents with you while talking to the other gang, because something that the other leader of the gang do irritated him.
And the last one. He cuddles up to you all the time, sleeps on you, sometimes sits on your lap. He just treats you like a big teddy bear (I feel sorry for you because this mf behaves like this even in public👀)
Tumblr media
Ken Ryƫguji:
Ken is used to looking down on everyone because usually HE is the big guy. So when he saw you, a six-foot and several centimeters tall boy, the blond boy felt a little threatened.
He didn't trust you at all at first, he thought you were a very suspicious guy, as if you were about to take a gun out from under your blouse and shoot the shit out of everyone. (Draken, chill out dude 🙄)
Your conversations were mainly based on exchanging a few words and then silence for the rest of the time. (very awkward feeling🌚👍)
but after some time, of course, you learned to communicate together, in fact, you both had a lot in common! Draken liked you very much, he wanted to spend more and more time with you.
As your relationship progressed, Draken felt a little embarrassed when you held his hand in public. The blonde hates affection, especially when you show it to him in public. (Sometimes he even hits you on the back of the head when he's in a bad mood, and you're begin clingy to him)
However, if you are alone, Ken loves to cuddle with you. (I know, hard to believe👀🙌)
Draken loves kisses on the forehead, I don't know why, but it makes him feel safe.
Tumblr media
Baji Keisuke:
This bitch attacked you as soon as he saw you 💀 He wanted to check if you were strong or just pretending to be. Well.... He found out.
You actually defeated him in one move because your height helped you. Baji hated you at first, he wanted to smash your face against the wall. But after a while he liked you (After 4 days when he saw you feeding homeless cats.)
After this event, he liked you very quickly. In fact, even from that moment on, he started to have a slight crush on you, of course, he never wanted to admit it. (Mainly because he was a bit ashamed that he fell in love with someone he wanted to send to the hospital...)
When your relationship moved to a higher stage, Baji became very jealous of you.
When some guy came up to you and wanted to ask for directions, Baji thought he was flirting with you, so he hit the guy as hard as he could, and then you had to force him away from the poor man. (Baji later apologized to you for his behavior)
His mother was a little afraid of you at first and thought you would hurt her son. (She doesn't know yet that it's more Baji that has a bad influence on you lmao)
But then Ryoko liked you A LOT, she thought you were a nice boy and she wanted your relationship with her son to last as long as possible. Because she saw how much Baji's eyes light up when he sees you, how much the brunette loves going out to the park with you because it makes him happy, how much Baji is lost in thought almost every day when he eats dinner with his mom because he thinks about you. His mother is happy that her son has finally found someone he cares about in hundred procent.
Baji often invites you to his place to help him study. (But it also often results in both of you ending up having a make-out session. Nothing more, so don't get your imagination too wild young fellow.)
Tumblr media
Kazutora Hanemiya:
The boy didn't waste any time and immediately started talking to you, he thought you were worthy of his attention and he wanted to get to know you better.
Kazutora often invited you out at night to get into trouble with the police and fight with some guys. You even have a special attack where Kazutora is on your shoulders and then jumps down on the opponent and hits him with his leg. He fell down a few times and started screaming things like, "It's all Mikey's fault! Mikey's fault!!!".
As your relationship progressed, Kazutora would often randomly jump on your back to give you a kiss on the cheek. After all, you're super tall, so standing on his toes to kiss you isn't an option for him. (Because he won't be able to reach it even if he does xD)
Mf will pretend he hurt his ankle just so you can hold him and carry him all the way to his destination in your arms.
He loves you very much, so he is kinda possesive of you. It is making you sometimes uncomfortable, but Kazutora tries to hide this side of him just for your comfort.

i’m so fucking tired of all this complaining about the mean girls movie musical.
1) it’s the musical, not the original movie, so if you havent seen the musical before, things are going to be fucking different because ITS NOT THE MOVIE !!!!!! they dress different, they act diff, they talk diff, even the dynamics are a little diff.
2) people need to stop acting like the decision to make regina gay is the most angering, out-of-pocket thing in the world, because it fucking isn’t. people are acting like it’s the most absurd decision ever, and it isn’t. if you’re really that fucking upset over it, then the movie was obviously not fucking made FOR YOU. nobody is forcing you to watch it. (and i’m sure renee rapp would not want the $0.001 she makes off of your view)
istg, all i see everyday is all of these identical looking twinks complaining about how out of pocket it is, and how it doesn’t make any sense. if it was the opposite, nobody would be complaining. if aaron was gay, everyone would think it’s so cool. if there was a remake of like any other movie and they made a man gay, tik tok and everyone else would be so excited, praising it for its ingenious and its creativeness. but as soon as it’s a lesbian, people flip out. gay men have no issue iconizing all these women, until they’re lesbian.
so, here is me directly addressing some of these points that these people are making:
“it came out of nowhere” - did it really? literally the main conflict between the two sides in the movie is because regina told everyone that janis was a lesbian, and janis was like extremely hurt about it, even how many years later. it would make sense that the falling out had something to do with regina having feelings for her, or something along those lines
“regina was into aaron” - did you even watch the movie? like honestly, seriously, did you? she isn’t even into him. even if she dated him, it’s like one of the most common things for lgbtq people to have dated the opposite sex, even if they aren’t attracted to them, either for appearance, or simply not yet knowing, and this is like the most prevalent in teenagers. regina, in all honesty, did not seem all too into aaron when you look back on it. she used him quite literally as a pawn in front of cady’s face. she sat there in the one scene and purposefully used the fact that they were dating to aggravate cady. also, why are we acting like it isn’t a thing to be bisexual? she could literally just be bisexual. (just saying, y’all never seem to deny comphet when it’s a man 🙄)
“there’s no way an entire school was bullied by a lesbian” - WHAT? i’m sorry but what. i don’t even know what point this person was trying to make, but even so, they completely missed. aside from all of the things i could pick apart about this statement, i thought it was like a running joke that usually the popular bully in high school, usually turns out to be closeted (male or female). like not even saying that this is true, but this is like a popular generalization and joke, so this point doesn’t even make sense.
finally, reneĂ© literally said she isn’t explicitly gay. she said it was just her vibes. people are getting this mad over a character who is just the slightest bit hinted about being a lesbian.
just leave it the fuck alone. let gay girls be happy over the slightest chance at representation, because we all know that gay men get almost all of it.
thank you
- a girl who likes girls and reneé rapp, who just wants a little bit of representation in something popular.

can i request the adult trio with a touch-starved, submissive s/o?
Absolutely! I just did hcs for this bc i thought it worked better, i hope u like!!! :))
Characters: Adult trio (Hisoka, Chrollo, Illumi) x gn! reader
Genre: General hcs, lowkey dark content? idk it’s the adult trio lol
Summary: Just some general headcannons for the adult trio with a submissive and touch-starved/clingy s/o.
Warnings: some possessive and degrading behavior
»»————- ♡ -————««
Chrollo:
-Thinks it’s adorable how clingy you are. He loves melting you just by his touch
-Your obedience feeds his ego, he loves being in control
-He will give you lots of praise and affectionate words. He thinks you’re just so good
-Sometimes plays little mind games with you, just to see you get flustered. He thinks it’s adorable, especially if you get mad at him after
-He doesn’t like when you go with him to dangerous places, due to the nature of his work, but he understands your desire to be around him so he always brings back gifts to make up for it
-LOVES reading while you sit or lay in his lap. Favourite passtime could literally spend hours there. He also loves hearing you read while he lays in your lap but he’ll probably fall asleep
-Doesn’t mind PDA and lets you be touchy with him in front of the troupe
-Tries to spend as much time with you when he can, especially if it’s just quiet time with you
-Will be either the big or little spoon, depends on the day
»»————- ♡ -————««
Illumi:
-Very much appreciates your obedience
-He pretends not to care about your need to touch or be around him but he actuallys loves it
-Small things go a long way. Subtle touches or kisses make him go all blushy and warm
-Loves it when you brush or play with his hair, and will even ask for scalp massages. Especially since he knows you’ll comply
-Thinks he always has to be the big spoon but secretly wants to be the little spoon
-Dislikes PDA at first and is a little more distant in public, but slowly warms up to it. Then he doesn’t really care, as long as you’re happy
-I am deciding right now that he is always cold and really likes feeling your warmth around him.
-He’s a male manipulator but he respects your boundaries and never abuses your submissiveness
-Always rests his head on your head or on your shoulders. Bonus points if you touch his hair too
»»————- ♡ -————««
Hisoka:
-Literally will always tease you, and it’s a bit demeaning too
-Wants to see how far your submissive side will go
-Loves that love affection and will be just as clingy with you
-Very big on PDA, he will show you off
-Big spoon always. If you want to be the big spoon too bad
-You two are so clingy to each other that he jokes you’re bound by bungee gum 🙄
-Always trying to fluster you, especially at the most inopportune times, like when you’re on the phone
-Though he can be degrading, if anyone else says anything about you he will tear them down

FINALLY SOMEONE SAID IT
like seriously Vivzepop would proudly say “hazbin hotel is a female lead show” and then the female characters are non existent like hell when the pilot first came out who got a official comic not the main character Charlie ANGEL DUST was the one who got a official comic and a music video 🙄 like seriously Vivzepop stop telling your fanbase that your female characters are important and then throw them on the side for the sake of the male characters it’s the Millie and loona problem all over again but worse
exactly </3 i've talked about it on discord more but it's especially obvious when it comes to angel. ignoring the fact that his character in general was badly done, he just didn't need the screentime. maybe next season? but in season one you want to focus on your MAIN main characters, and that would include charlie and vaggie. sure, vaggie got some focus, but she learned absolutely nothing during her episodes and maybe they could have focused on her getting over herself about her guilt and improving rather than giving angel all the spotlight. move his shit to season two! move husk's shit to season two! move these character's stories to season two, let season one establish our main two first!

In line with the anti-jonsa arguments, the only one I believe had some impact on me (this isn’t even in universe, it’s just in general) was that incest is inherently oppressive towards women. The one person who is not supposed to think of you like that, look at you like that - does. There is no safety for you to fall back on because even your family is not acting like family. I don’t know how this will translate with Jon and Sansa, because Sansa will expect protection as a sister and then them falling in love with each while knowing the other is their half-sibling is tilted towards Jon having more power in that dynamic as a man. Then comes in the question of Sansa’s claim to Winterfell and Jon being the heir to Robb’s will. It’s muddled up and the solution (join together in marriage) doesn’t look as appealing to considering incest here will still hurt Sansa, because of society being inherently systemically oppressive, and not save her or her claim. (This is one of the reasons why I didn’t like show KiTN Jon because whatever the fuck happened to “Winterfell belongs to my sister Sansa”. I mean there’s a lot wrong with the show after that but it particularly pissed me off lol because in canon jon would NEVER do that and is the true air raid siren canary in the coal mine for Jon’s character butching (jonerys 🙄)) Anyway, lost track there, but yeah. And on top of all of that, how is GRRM going to paint a better picture of something he’s been criticising for almost 30 years now? Still a Jonsa though, because I am a clown đŸ€Ą
(about this ask)
It’s really hard to tell which resolution Martin is working towards! On the one hand, it could be about creating a scenario in which politics / love align and resolving the Northern succession crisis gives Sansa and Jon everything they ever wanted. I love tidy storytelling, so that is very appealing to me. However, I do agree with you that that resolution isn’t without certain concerning aspects.
The other possibility is, it’s a test for Jon, just as he has continual been tempted throughout the series, only, this is the greatest one yet. His brother, friend, the heir, the KitN himself chose Jon. As a Jon fan, I love what that will mean to him. The show didn’t have the benefit of Robb’s Will, so it felt more ooc for Jon than it could be written in the books. After all, Sansa is still married to Tyrion. Also, with different factions in the books possibly supporting different Starks, it’s possible Sansa sees the greater good (she doesn’t consider her claim much after all/isn’t attached to it) and works to get everyone to support Jon as he is older, male, has Robb’s endorsement, and might play a key role in winning back Winterfell so he could be a peace candidate / the one everyone can coalesce around. I mean, that’s a little hard for me to imagine with the prejudice against bastards and what his rep will be post rez, but Martin could write it in a way that doesn’t feel like Jon taking advantage of the situation and rather, Jon doing something he feels guilty about out of necessity, with the blessing of Robb and more importantly Sansa. However, if it is a test, Jon would have to instead defend Sansa’s claim. If Jon refuses everything and then parentage reveal comes out, they could marry at a later date when the relationship can be of Sansa’s choosing, removing the disturbing implications of the political benefits for Jon/the power imbalance.
I’ve moved towards the secret wedding idea (here are posts about that 1, 2). Sansa would probably have to suggest the idea herself and persuade him giving her a lot of agency in her own fate, and it’s potentially a callback to Jace/Sara and Rhaegar/Lyanna. That could happen secretly purely because she’s already married and she wants to be married before he goes to war, or because they don’t have support for it (maybe the North does think it’s icky or is very anti Targ with the disaster of Dany’s invasion happening), or it might happen before Jon is exiled simply because Sansa wants it. I’ve said before, perhaps the best way to answer Sansa’s fears are for Jon to marry her when he can’t have Winterfell, so she knows it is her, not her claim, that he wants. In that scenario, there is nothing for Jon to gain, it is love, only love that motivates him. It’s the most romantic of the options, even if it isn’t the happiest.
Whatever the endpoint, I think there are enough variables that Martin could make any of a number of different paths work and keep them in-character for Jon as well as avoiding backtracking his criticisms simply because we will know Jon’s motivations.

Pointed out there's something to be concerned about with Ameliance looking like a child/teenager on a recent "smash or pass" style poll post (that used very young-looking face screenshots.)
Proceeded to be called brian-dead, insane, etc. and be blocked by the poll blog for...responding to people keeping the argument going by @ ing me on the poll and other separate, unrelated polls.
Multiple people insisted I was incorrect, or attempted to explain that I was obviously wrong because she's 7ft tall and has kids (none of which is seen in the screenshots, and none of which negates that she -like most women in FF- has an extremely child-like face with wide-set and large eyes, a small mouth, and no wrinkles, flaws, or other signs of age...which seem reserved for male characters, ffs)
Totally rational behavior, awesome.
Anyway, @smashingorpassing prefers not to block people hurling accusations of brain-damage and insanity, in preference of blocking the person pointing out that FF (and anime-adjacent media in general) has a long-standing issue with making their characters look young, and their fans have a long-standing issue with viewing said infantilised people as fuckable waifus.
Frustrating to be blocked for, idk, some nonexistent and non-elaborated upon rule for that blog.
Update: aaaand they've removed all my comments. I could understand this if I violated literally ANY of their listed rules. I wasn't the one @ ing users outside of the walls of the post. I wasn't the one throwing out insults.
I've come to understand some FF fans are combative, complacent, hostile, and unquestioning of questionable trends in media, but it sucks that that extends to this blog and its moderators.
This is the "obviously a 40yo adult" BTW 🙄

Hey! I'm Jamie/Spiral/Fox and i write things sometimes!
You can find me @/spiralsystem on Ao3!
This blog will mainly work with requests, as my main fics that I'm working on will be posted directly to archive.
For x reader requests I will likely use the pronoun "you" over "they" (I just think it's fun)
HOW TO SEND A REQUEST: please send the pairing you want, any tropes or whatever (not obligatory), and pick from one of 3:
- Headcanons: a quick page of headcanon points
- Drabble: quick blurb between 200-500 words
- Short fic: 1000-3000 words
Please don't be shy with requests!
Request types I will take:
X GN!Reader
X Male!reader
X Trans!reader
Character x character
Main fandoms I'll currently write for:
Baldur's Gate 3
911/911 Lone Star
Dishonored
Ace Attorney
Vocaloid/Project Sekai Colourful Stage
Critical role seasons 1 & 2
Dc
Jujutsu Kaisen
Genshin Impact
All For The Game
& Many more!
More about my writing under the cut so this doesn't get super long :)
Views on shit for writing: I reaaallly don't subscribe to the whole concept of proship/antiship. I take requests on what I'm comfortable writing.
I DO accept nsfw requests, but only within appropriate age ranges. I am comfortable writing age gaps but please dm me and i'll write something on a different site, same with any other typically "taboo" requests. I will not release a "will not/will write" list because that's just inviting problems.
If you'd like nsfw x a minor!character, please specify in the ask if you are also a minor. If there is no age, I will deny the request. I won't write underage smut for adults. I also probably won't push it past an M rating.
Minors I write for:
ProSeka: Honestly realistically most of these characters are minors, but like we don't all know teenagers aren't celibate. Vocaloids don't canonically have ages but since they're all kinda minor-coded, I'll just stick to M max for proseka.
Genshin - Qiqi and Klee, Sayu, and Yaoyao. Diona is NOT a minor, she runs a bar 🙄. Bennett/razor/fischl/anybody who uses the "teen model" I consider 18 at least.
Ace attorney - pearl, trucy. If you want ema I'll write her as her older self unless specified, sorry.
9-1-1: I'll write any of the kids as a side accessory to their parents, unless you want a Gen piece about the kids. I love writing Chris & Denny :)
Dc: Ages are played with a lot in DC, so any characters that are generally accepted as minors/adults will be treated as such. I.e: Damian Wayne, Jon kent will be treated as kids unless you specify a universe where they're older (like when Older!Jon came to that one Earth)
BALDUR'S GATE 3:
The ONLY characters I won't write for this are LAE'ZEL and MINTHARA:
Minthara: killed her and saved the tieflings. No real interest in having her as a companion so I haven't seen any content with her.
Lae'zel: get back to me when she doesn't excuse slaughtering and colonizing entire towns lol. I'm native and the gith creche slaughtering the entire temple of lathander (as. As a cleric of lathander also) and she was like đŸ€·â€â™‚ïž we live here now. I was not cool with that. I also really don't know how to write a romance for someone who is constantly combative towards the player.
BSD: I can only write for the ADA characters + aktugawa because. I have only seen season 1 :,) sorry
Muses & character's I'm great at writing for:
Bg3: Tav, Wyll
911: Eddie, TK
Dishonored: Corvo, Outsider (and Garett from Thief 2014)
Ace Attorney: Edgeworth, Klavier, Apollo, Clay, Simon, Diego
Vocaloid/Proseka: Len, VFlower, GUMI, Shiho, Toya, Mafuyu, Mizuki
Critrole: Percy, Vax, Caleb, Jester
DC: batfam, superfam, flashs & rogues gallery, teen titans, young justice
JJK: Gojo, Nanami, Itadori, Inumaki, Fushiguro
Genshin: Diluc, Zhongli, Alhaitham & Kaveh (and 4ggravate), Traveler twins, Pantalone, Wriothesley
AFTG: Neil, Aaron, Jean

I just realized Harry and his enemy both have the same taste in women and I think it's funny. 😂😂😂
I made this because I just realized Harry and his enemy both have the same taste in women and I think it's funny. 😂😂😂
Even though, they are the hero and the villian, I think it's very interesting how they are so very similar and stuff like this is why I ship them. đŸ€
I also would like to clarify I do believe Tom Riddle/Voldemort is gay. 🌈
His taste in women is obviously not romantic. 😖
But I noticed that when he has any interest in women his taste is very similar to Harry. đŸ˜Č
The female characters featured here are:
Ginny Weasley
Lily Potter
Cho Chang
Nagini
Romilda Vane
Bellatrix Lestrange
Moaning Myrtle
The Grey Lady
I appreciate these are strong female characters.
Obviously, there are tons of women in Harry Potter.
But I like seeing some actual variety in it.
Usually in stories with male leads, they get involved with very generic, stereotypical types of women. 🙄
So I always give the Harry Potter series credit for showing relationships with people of different races, aesthetics, sexualities, ages, mentalities, etc.
It's cool how Harry and Tom have both had contact with different types of women from all walks of life and also women from beyond the grave. 😆
Clearly, these guys are very open minded. đŸ€Ł

But regardless, of all the jokes, I could make about it - I do think Harry and Tom have unique taste. đŸ˜â€ïž

hi! i didnt have much success when looking through ur blog to see if uve addressed this alrdy so apologies if u have.
i was curious to know ur thoughts on jjk's portrayals of gender, esp women/femininity. if u have particular insight from a psych or philosophy bg, id be interested in hearing that (warning, i have a v feminist critique lens)
ik u love gege's writing 😅 but his handle on female characters/femininity has given me such a difficult relationship w jjk, and its v difficult to have discourse on it. on one hand, we're introduced to sm interesting realistic women, tbh i actually never stanned a woman in manga before jjk. but imo it cant be denied that gege is a sexist writer. despite how realistic jjk women r theyre all .. halfwritten? i cant think of a single one who isnt underwritten, not fully explored, not utilized substantially in the plot, etc. and there r sm ex's of extremely minor male characters in jjk who r given more thematic relevance than frequently recurring women that just underscores that gender gap imo
this isnt solely a gege problem ik but what bothers me in particular about jjk vs other mangas is how gege addresses strength, even in the light of nb/androgynous characters, and how it feels as if gege's def of strength is inherently masculine? even despite going so far as to give us a philosophical battle shonen w diverse reps of gender and emphasizing individuality that encompasses both femme/masc traits
how a reader interprets whether a jjk woman is strong or not is obv subjective. like, i think shoko is strong but shes not depicted as such bc she doesnt have a combative technique whereas yuki maki nobara or mei r depicted as "strong" bc of their battle abilities. but it also feels as if those women r strong bc they take on "masculine" traits/mindsets whereas there r no clear depictions of "femininity" making women or men stronger. even utahime who falls into v classic shoujo girl tropes is seen as weak despite teaching her students v proficientally in battle strategy (mechamaru v mahito is a good ex of that imo), as compared to how gojo teaches his (ie dumping them into missions for experience). but thats not what gege ever chooses to highlight
femininity also doesnt even seem to make men/nb characters stronger. the ex's i can think of r naoya as a vagina (lmao), geto as a mother to curses, yuta as highly attuned to his emotions, kenjaku as yuji's mother -- those r things that support these (mostly) men's strong sense of individuality but like, those arent really the things that lend those characters their "strength", u know? like geges just sprinkling in androgyny for the spice 🧐
what is feminine vs masculine, how an individual embodies those traits in their gender identity r already complex topics. im obv generalizing a lot here, but i just, idk despite how many other nuanced philosophies gege explores, what is strong/desirable in jjk still falls down to all-out fighting abilities/physical prowess, emotional detachment, isolation, extremism, etc -- all things we harp on toxic masculinity for. and even when he critiques that, theres no cogent counter solution/way to be strong that gege provides, much less one that incorporates "femininity" and women
maybe im just asking for too much from gege after having read so many great representations of women and gender by female (and male) mangakas/writers but.. i shouldnt be 🙄 he can utilize his female characters more imo, esp when he can clearly set them up so well. and im sure theres things ive misread about jjk and its portrayal of femininity, theres plenty of holes in my thoughts ^^ anyways, this is obv not a great topic to bring up in a fandom that is so polarized between dudebros and women w unaddressed internalized misogyny.. so i welcome any and all thoughts and interpretations on ur end! (also omg im rlly sorry this got so long)
I love you feminist anon, if I may call you that lol, I just always name my anons 😂. I am so grateful that you sent this.
I feel like you've very eloquently explained the deeper reason as to why I personally can't relate to the female characters in jjk. If I'm honest, I like them and think they are fun and good enough representations or attempts at depicting the archetypes that rule their personalities.
As you say, however, some of them remain rather superficial and underutilized... and please forgive me anyone who loves them, but some of them feel like they are basically dudes wearing skirts.
No offense to dudes who wear skirts or people who like men who wear skirts or anyone for that matter. It's just that, as a personal preference, I like female characters that wear skirts, pants, leggings, etc and have equal amounts of masculine and feminine energy.
So, even if I find they are good enough, I've never necessarily loved jjk female characters, because, as you also say, I've read/seen one too many amazing and iconic female characters by other authors...
Tumblr media
And it's not like I think you're asking for too much from Gege in wanting better female characters, it's just that, as you also said, I like his writing and I read jjk precisely because of what it's doing for my masculine psyche. Like... quite literally.
Tumblr media
So perhaps I'm more forgiving than you are because of it? Because in all reality, there are female character moments in other manga that I have to give the bombastic side eye to, and jjk isn't one of them.
Let's taco'bout it more under the cut.
So, that said, I have to admit that you might not find a lot of "feminist oriented" content in my blog because my feminist lens is reserved for dealing with lame dudebros in my real life, and also, I honestly do not know how to wear the lens on the same level of depth as you do.
Also, since my blog's lens is depth psych, I very much focus on femininity and masculinity as psychological qualities that exist on opposite ends of a continuum regardless of biological gender. You'll see me refer to femininity and masculinity like this throughout my answer.
So because of this, I'm coming at the whole issue from a slightly different angle than you are. The way I see it, I think the way the jjk female characters are written and thematically utilized (basically everything you said), ultimately comes back to how Gege's exploration of femininity is limited by his own sense of self, and very much likely biased by the sociocultural landscape he grew up in.
I don't know how much you know about Japan, but Japan has one foot in the future, and one foot in the past...
Tumblr media
And like... ok I'm totally oversimplifying the whole thing. All I'm saying is... Gege is a man who grew up in a man's world, sharing his view of the world through jjk, which is a story about initiation of the male psyche that is published in a magazine for young boys.
Do you see the pattern there?
So If you feel like his female characters are underutilized and underexplored, and that thematically jjk focuses way too much on masculinity and masculine definitions of strength at the expense of the feminine archetypes he does present (like Naoya as a vagina LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL)... well... to me, we're basically looking at the limits of his own relationship to his femininity, which, this relationship is in turn an imperative precursor for psychospiritual development in depth psych. More of this in a bit.
Anyways, that's my anticlimactic reasoning for why I am more forgiving about the issue than you are. To be honest, I've been so consumed exploring my masculine psyche through jjk (because personally my feminine psyche is more developed in certain aspects) that I just never focus on the female characters (that is not to mention what I shared earlier).
ANYWAYS, I fucking love what you wrote about Gege's exploration on power from a masculine perspective because you're 100% spot on. What I'll say to that is that, to me, from a depth psych perspective, that's kind of the whole point.
I invite you to look at it from this other level of perspective (in addition to the whole "Gege's psych is a product of his upbringing"): the whole idea of individuality and focusing on the sense of self as a measure of "The Strongest" is being shown as an incomplete part of the equation...
Tumblr media
... that leaves "the strongest" ultimately feeling dissatisfied.
Tumblr media
This is a sentiment echoed by several characters because ego strength (masculine definitions of strength) is ultimately an unbalanced measure of strength precisely because it ignores feminine values and measures of strength.
Who knows where Gege is taking jjk at this point, but I will admit I am hoping he is going to explore this in more depth because, central to Jungian thought and depth psych is the idea of the Buddhist middle path and union of opposites.
In Jungian psych this means that, when you have an unbalanced ego attitude like that, something has to give so that the pendulum swings in the opposite direction, which gives the ego the experiences it needs to integrate the "opposite" attitude. This ultimately results in a more holistic and balanced perspective for the ego.
Tumblr media
That to say that I'm wondering if Gege is going to make the pendulum swing in the opposite direction with the whole "individuality" idea since self-preservation is a "masculine" trait. Again, psychologically, it's all about balance, and right now, the story is out of balance in favor of the masculine traits you mention.
But... to bring it back to Gege's possible limitations around his perception of femininity and how developing a healthy relationship to his anima (femininity) is a precursor for psychospiritual development... what if, on a meta level, jjk is depicting part of Gege's journey towards integrating and deepening his relationship to his femininity and what you're seeing is the beginning of that journey?
Hint hint Tsumiki! maybe I'll write about it someday
This is the thing... In depth psychology, more specifically what is called "the psychology of fairy tales", fairy tales and myths are stories that depict the thinking patterns of a peoples through metaphor and symbol. The characters in these myths and stories are thus characters playing out dramas in our own psyches. So basically, think of jjk as an objective exploration of Gege's subjectiveness (psyche).
Admittedly, even if the pendulum swings in the other direction (more feminine definitions of strength), you might find that his exploration is rather shallow or that it falls short of your expectations for what you'd like to see from a feminist perspective. And you wouldn't be wrong for it, it's just that Gege is probably not on the same level of understanding that you have about femininity because he's, like you and I, a human on a journey of self understanding and growth reflecting on how his environment has shaped who he is.
The same goes for women with internalized misogyny. Sometimes you don't know what you don't know, and coming to an understanding of it is a process that doesn't take place overnight.
So I think the only part I'll disagree with is that Gege is a sexist writer. But that's perhaps because I'm being a bit too technical in what sexist means? i.e. masc supremacy or hating women and perpetuating stereotypes. I think that rather than being sexist, his unconscious biases are showing, which is why someone like you can pick them out.
I do understand where you're coming from though, and admittedly perhaps I am being too forgiving of him.
Last thing I'll say is that I've said a couple of times that wanting for jjk to have these iconic female characters feels like an exercise in futility. In retrospect, I now understand that it's not that anyone shouldn't want for jjk to have iconic female characters, but that doesn't change the fact that jjk will probably remain the wrong manga to look for them, and that's something to make peace with because it is what it is.
So, here's to hoping we get a chance to see a deeper representation of feminine values in jjk or Gege's next manga. Because, if he's done such beautiful work with the masculine psyche, like you, I'd be curious to see what he makes of a deeper exploration of the feminine psyche.
Between you and I, I'd actually love reading a proper battle bl from Gege. And I mean proper. Like... gays so canon that even the dudebros can't deny it.
Tumblr media
ANYWAYS... giiiiiiiirl what an ask 😼‍💹. I don't think I've done it justice tbh. But hopefully I made sense? I really do love what you wrote. It was very eye opening to see this age-old argument spelled out the way you did it. So thank you again for sharing your thoughts!
If you over have any other thoughts on the topic I look forward to hearing from you!
I rambled too so... hopefully I made sense đŸ€Ł.

Aw man đŸ€ŁđŸ€ŁđŸ€ŁđŸ€Ł that hand touch y’all take everything way out of context it’s not even romantic Will is shaking Mike places his hand to calm the shake it’s clearly there in your little gif.
Tumblr media
Idk, specifically including a close-up shot of a character reaching out to grab another character’s hand seems pretty romantically-coded to me? Especially when it’s in the context of a friendship that has literally been confirmed to be romantically charged from Will’s side. We know that Byler is semi-canon and that Noah said they’ve been building this storyline since the start of the show. So it’s not like I’m taking a random, meaningless scene between two friends and slapping a romantic filter on it for no reason. If Mike reached out to hold El’s hand when she was shaking, or if Lucas reached out to hold Max’s hand when she was shaking, there’s no doubt that you’d say it has romantic significance.
It’s not that platonic friends can’t hold hands in real life without it being gay. I’d love to see more normalization of intimate male affection between besties without needing to put a label on it. Girls are often afforded that luxury, but due to toxic masculinity, guys aren’t given that same level of plausible deniability. The beauty of Byler is that even on a friendship level, Mike and Will’s closeness challenges norms and is refreshing. So it’s not that a hand hold is necessarily romantic in a neutral sense. Hand holds can be platonic, but that’s not what this is lol. Even if one only looks at things from Will’s POV, we know that at least one boy in the situation has feelings for the other boy. That puts it in a romantic context. And Stranger Things isn’t just including a close-up of Mike holding Will’s hand for no reason. It’s a piece of media where everything has a specific purpose.
If this type of intimacy were just a one time thing, then maybe it wouldn’t be a clue towards anything. But this scene exists alongside numerous other scenes of Mike using his Will voice, having heart-to-hearts with his totally platonic bestie 🙄, and just generally showing a heightened level of focus and devotion towards Will that he doesn’t show to anyone else in his life
even his girlfriend. And be serious for a second, if there was a scene of Mike reaching out to grab Dustin or Lucas’s hand when they were shaking, you’d be confused. You’d side-eye it. It wouldn’t make sense, because that’s not how their relationship is established, even though the Party is a group of close friends. You can’t even make the excuse that Mike is just a touchy-feely guy cause he isn’t. And you can’t say, “Well, Mike and Will are just brothers” cause A) they’ve never once used that term when it’d be so easy to, B) that’d be weird since they’re involved in a romantic storyline, and C) they’re not the ones who have gotten sibling coding. Oops. 😅

That whole Gudako anime thread having someone treat me like an idiot when I pointed out their continuity argument is bunk (because apparently acknowledging that Camelot and Babylonia is incompatible because 100 faces and Touta are confirmed to appear in one and are completely absent in another is the "most stupid thing they've ever heard") will be the start of my villain origin story, maybe.
Oh it’s great how they shift their goalposts on why they don’t think a female protagonist won’t work constantly don’t they? 🙄
Like:
The statement: it would mess with continuity to make the protagonist female after having them be male for the other adaptations
The rebuttal: continuity has already been broken by having flashbacks that show characters that then don’t appear in the actual adaptation of that part, suggesting it’s a different timeline
The response: uh well that’s stupid (doesn’t actually address the continuity error or even acknowledge it)
The statement: switching to a female protagonist would confuse anime onlys
The rebuttal: there are plenty of franchises that switch protagonists out, while there may be some confusion the first time it’s done you’re vastly overestimating how much people will be bothered by it. If precure or sentai can hard reset their universe every season with the same core concepts carrying over and literal 5 year olds can figure out the same general rules for the setup still apply then adults should also be able to handle it
The response: hooooowwww dareeeew you act like all sentai use the same basic premise don’t you know ultra man isn’t even produced by toei (you did not mention ultra man) marvel is also tokusatsu I’m going to derail the shit out of this bc you made the rookie error of mentioning 3 franchises made by the same company. I’ve never heard of Warriors or guardians of gahoole or avatar and the idea of a media franchise changing its protagonist scares me
The statement: a female protagonist wouldn’t be profitable, there aren’t enough female players to make it worth doing
The rebuttal: at least 40% of fgo players according to surveys are female and by the most recent survey for the 7th anniversary they’re actually the majority at ~58%. You can’t say that they aren’t a profitable demographic when you’ve never tried marketing to them
The response: uh but that’s a famistsu poll they don’t count my 2019 poll saying it was 30% (still a significant number?) is from an offical source (no you don’t get to know what that source is)
The statement: well they can’t use her because then they’d have to pair her up with female servants and they wouldn’t want the gay implications!
The rebuttal: assuming that they suddenly get cold feet on lesbian fanservice if it isn’t ‘comedic assault’ like in lwm they could just
pair her with male servants? Those exist? Or, yknow, focus on telling a story instead of solely pandering to self inserts
The response: uh but they don’t want to pair her up with guys bc she needs to be a waifu >_<
My actual response to that: SHE ISNT SUPPOSED TO BE A WAIFU FOR THE MALE PLAYERS. FOR GODS SAKE SHE IS THE ONE CHARACTER WHO SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO EXIST INDEPENDENTLY OF MALE DESIRES AS A REPRESENTATION OF THE FEMALE FANBASE. ILL FUCKING KILL YOU
The statement: uh but she died in the fgo command room in the fuyuki anime
The response: bitch that was literally an Easter egg that wasn’t the actual master
The rebuttal: but she’s dead! They can’t ever reboot or disregard their own canon! Especially a franchise like fate, which is known for being super set in stone and never going back on events that have already happened
And repeat ad nasuem. Like we get it, as soon as a women does anything that isn’t hanging off the arm of a guy it pisses you off but god DAMN the shitty argument tactics piss me the hell off. Just say you don’t want a serious female protagonist with your chest and quit making these garbage excuses

“House of the Dragon is the best because it is oozing with female gaze.”
Really?? 🙄😒
You have to also pay attention to the type of episodes allocated to women or men writers. For instance, a political episode like episode 10 is written by a man, directed by a man... that also happens to be the episode that ruins Rhaenyra’s character by not giving her any type of agency. And then we get the wedding episode (1.05), written and directed by a woman. Not to mention, the date episode (1.04), written and directed by a woman. In addition to that, the family soap opera episode (1.08) is also written and directed by a woman. So while I understand that it is easy for us to think because a woman is involved with the show, that means that that show is generally better, that really isn’t the case because women could also cater to the male gaze. Again, the male gaze doesn’t just objectify women. It makes them inactive, it makes them weak, it makes them lack agency, it essentially makes them Alicent on the show when she is strong in the book.

Get to know you - Sims Style
Thanks @descendantdragfi here and @obscurus-noctem here for tagging me! ❀
What’s your favorite Sims death? Every death is hilarious--fire and drowning are iconic, ofc. My fave sims GHOST, however, is the Haunted one from SN, and the Hologram one from ITF.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alpha CC or Maxis Match? Alpha CC. I don't mind Maxis Match in TS3, but EFF NO in TS4--get that clayfied crap out of my face, alpha all the waaaaaay~!
Do you cheat your sims weight? YES, I use a weight gain mod.
Do you move objects? MOOOOOOOO! 🐄🐼
Favorite Mod? I juuuuust made a whole post drooling over my faves.
First Expansion/Game Pack/Stuff Pack? TS1 Makin Magic. Iconic.
Tumblr media
Do you pronounce live mode like aLIVE or LIVing? aLIVE.
Who’s your favorite sim that you’ve made? My avatar sim, Sakura Rain, the time-traveling Japanese cherry-tree faery of the Unseelie Court. (She's inspired by all my fave pink-haired anime characters.)
Tumblr media
Have you made a simself? Yes, but only when I play The Sims with my family members, and we take turns making each other and our home. It's so much fun.
Which is your favorite EA hair color? White. Especially after TS4 came out with no CASt or color wheel and I couldn't even recreate my main sims like wtf. I have a type, EA!
Tumblr media
Favorite EA hair? PFFT! 🙄 I can't stand most of the hairs EA makes in general, especially not the ones for male sims, as most of mine have very long hair.
Favorite life stage? Young adult, by default. But as more mods have been made for kids (No Stretch, Child Magic, Toddler Interactions) I have been enjoying child sims FAR more than I used to.
Are you a builder or are you in it for the gameplay? I'm a builder--that's how I got into TS1 way back in the day. I like decorating interiors--my exteriors are usually sad, I suck at using CFE--and just cluttering up my lots. As a fandom-inspired storyteller, I rely on in-game interactions to give my sims the poses/scenes I need, so having deep and immersive gameplay that allows me to recreate whatever fandoms I want is key.
Are you a CC creator? Unfortunately.
Do you have any Simblr friends or a Sim Squad? A "sim squad"???
Do you have any sims merch? No, but I want one of those plumbbob headbands so I can dress up as a sim on Halloween. XD
Do you have a  Youtube for sims? Technically no. I got into making TS3 machinimas inspired by my favorite music a few years ago, and would upload them to Youtube cuz that's what everyone did, but omfg all the recent changes in copyright and music policies has made it SUCH a headache uploading ANYWHERE--including Tumblr!
Tumblr media
Like, my most recent IWTV insp. machinima on Tumblr has that stupid Copyright Guidelines thumbnail on it, even though Tumblr ACCEPTED the video and let it go through--it plays! It's not removed, so wtf??? No matter how many times I tried reuploading it I got the same problem--this BS is more trouble than it's worth, tbh.
How has your “Sims style” changed throughout your years of playing? My gameplay will always look a bit pudding, but I think/hope I'm getting better at recreating different fandoms, and getting the level of detail down just right.
Who’s your favorite CC creator? It takes a village. There is no ONE creator--especially since all my OG faves retired a long time ago: Luna, @qingshuangtongzi, Hekate999, etc. And new simmers pop up everyday that blow my mind, so yeah, it's just the community at large, really. 💚💚💚
How long have you had Simblr? 2013--this July will make it a full decade. Tumblr's trash but it's also the absolute best, LOL.
How do you edit your pictures? I suck at editing--in GIMP I just tweak the "Curves" brightness & saturation when the in-game lighting is hot garbage, then call it a win.
What expansion/ gamepack is your favorite? (TS1) Makin Magic, (TS2) Apartment Life & Night Life are tied for witches & vampires, (TS3) Supernatural, (TS4) Vampires. Like, Supernatural changed my life, I seriously doubt I'd've kept playing TS3 as long as I have without SN. I also love World Adventures and Into the Future of course, but Supernatural gave us Witches, Faeries, Werewolves, (I'm not even gonna talk about TS3's busted Vampires like how the EFF were they "updated" or "fixed" when we STILL didn't get a functional coffin, like what frikkin vampire would sleep on a frikkin altar exposed to the sunlight like a effing BUFFOON, EA?!) and all kinds of fanciful content that I just can't live without. Hands down. 🧙đŸȘ„đŸ§™â€â™€ïžâœš

I hate the double standards in the remarried empress fandom. Rashta act childish and people are like "this bitch đŸ€Ź" and when Heinrey did the exact same thing, people are like "Submissive muscular man 😍"
I think my eye got stuck from rolling them too much 😒
Don't even start on the double standard of this fandom. It's not just TRE unfortunately. It's every fandom of manhwa. Women can't even breathe next to FL without getting called b word (there are other name calling but I won't mention them) but male characters could be literal r*pists, war criminals and they would be like " if evil why so hot?" 🙄
The only way they tolerate female characters around FL when they are absolute simps, otherwise it's the pitchforks for them.
Manhwa fandom in general have main characters bias syndrome. Trust me if the story was written from Rashta's POV, Navier would have get the same treatment. Some people really can't fathom the idea that you can like one female character without demonising the other.
And yes criticising Rashta is absolutely okay. But if one can't criticise her without resorting to misogynistic slurs, then they should ask themselves bigger questions.
Also it grinds my gears when, male characters like birdface gets no criticism from those same people for doing worse things than Rashta. This is why I can't stand manhwa fandom in general. He literally massacred people but gets no flack. 😑
But good news is, I'm seeing more support for Rashta now a days. In the past, it was hardly there. It's a nice change of pace.
Like people, you have two hands, use them both to hold Navier and Rashta. Just because you like one, doesn't mean you'd have to hate the other.
Also birdface can rot in canon for all I care.
