COVID INDIA EMERGENCY
So my blog is now flood with posts about covid India mostly just posts spreading awareness with donation links and articles that tell you exactly where we stand as a country that has a population that’s decreasing by the hundreds DAILY.
I think I’ll only be reblogging posts about the current crisis at hand for a while…..I don’t have much to say other than that this country is dying, the major cities and industrial/economic hubs of India are affected the worse, and the ruling party is doing next to nothing to curb the situation. I’ve tried to donate as much as I can and now I will try and pester my parents who have better resources to do the same, anything at all will go a long way to save the lives of people the govt has forsaken entirely. We are for the most part helpless and on our own. The youth’s  effort to stabilize resources and distribute it to people in need is as far as we can claim that any substantial steps have been taken to control and cushion the pandemic and the govt has played NO PART IN THIS EFFORT AT ALL.
Please if you can DONATE/ REBLOG/ SIGNAL BOOST please do;
Here are a few links,  there’s everything from Remdesivir, oxygen cylinders to meals that might help you.

So, India is dying.
Look, I know a good number of you are from the US and things aren't amazing there either, but my country is literally on the brink of collapse. So I'd love it if we could talk about that for a minute.
If you can't do anything else, please just read and reblog.
A second COVID wave has taken out the healthcare system. There are no more hospital beds. There's an oxygen shortage. There's a critical vaccine shortage. The Central Government has thrown its hands up and is passing the baton to the State Governments to do what they can.
There are over 16 million covid cases. A record 330,000 new cases reported yesterday - comparable to the US at its peak. 187,000 dead as of today.
There is no plan.
Mass cremations are taking place. The cremation grounds are running day and night and they are short on wood. People are watching their loved ones die while waiting for a hospital bed, and then they're unable to give them the proper burial rights.
Tumblr media
Hospitals are overwhelmed. Patients are being confined, two to a bed. They're the lucky ones.
Tumblr media
We are on the verge of people dying in the streets.
This is the second-most populous country in the world. The largest democracy. A country that encapsulates over 15,000 years of recorded human history and has endured everything from famine to invasion to colonisation.
We might be at the end. This might be the thing that does us in.
People are dying.
Tumblr media
People are dying.
Tumblr media
People are dying and there is no plan.
Tumblr media
More good news? Variants are popping up. A double mutation strain has shown up. It is resistant to current vaccines. This will not go away. This is the devastation they warned of when the anti-maskers were out protesting the minor inconvenience of covering their face in public.
My country is on the verge of an emergency state. Our government has failed us. This is as dire a situation as it ever could be.
Look. I don't do much with my life. I write fics, some of you have read them and that's pretty much it. I spend my days with my head in the clouds because that's where I like to be.
But two days ago, my grandmother tested positive, had to be taken to hospital and the ambulance caught fire.
She barely made it to the urgent care she needs.
So, here I am, using whatever meager platform I have to cobble this request together. Because I have to do something.
If you can, donate.
Or spread the word.
Help. Please.

almost all studying tips I see are not adhd friendly so here's a couple I personally use that may or may not work for yall depending on situations:
listen to music with headphones/earbuds at whatever tempo you know is easy for you to tune out. I prefer fast music with heavy bass
instead of remove distractions I sit in the living room with the tv on low volume as background motion so other activity wont randomly grab my attention
keep a drink and snack on hand so you wont have to get up to get one later
have someone in the room who you ask to only talk to you if you talk to them about your study topic first. have them direct you back to it if you stray away
GET COMFORTABLE. you dont have to be at a desk ffs the discomfort will distract you more
keep a notebook and pen on hand. physically writing my notes instead of typing helps me remember better
if you take meds make sure to do so well over an hour beforehand
if you have pets make sure theyre well entertained beforehand as I know my dogs seeking attention is a big distraction for me
if youre at home make sure to let everyone know that this time period is only for studying and that you will not be available for anything else. do so a couple days in advance and verbally remind them every day until

ADHD Community
I created a website which I am hoping will turn into a safe community for people with ADHD.
https://www.adultwithadhdblog.com
You have the option to ask for advice or offer any advice you have, there is a safe space for infodumping and hyperfixations. There is a personal blog in which I will sometimes write. We can create a community in which people who share the same struggles can share their experiences without that feeling of otherness.

I love people with obscure knowledge or useless academic insights. I want to hear your analysis of lighting in Ratatouille. Tell me about the history of soda pop or the references to classical mythology in Macbeth. I want to know about the underlying homoerotic context of that 1930s sci-fi paperback. I think all knowledge is worthwhile knowledge. Explain to me the ecosystems that komodo dragons inhabit. Don’t be afraid to learn for the sake of learning.

PSA for people who reside in the Netherlands. Is the pandemic hitting you hard? Are you suffering from (school) stress, depression, loneliness etc during this time? ❤️ You can contact the Bel Me Wel register, who will get back to you within 24 hours to schedule a free 30 min phone call with you with one of their volunteer psychologists (anonymous number). ❤️
They are there to help you think things through, simply listen, or take steps to help you get therapy if necessary. Please don’t think that your struggles have to worsen before you get help, this is a very troubling time for many of us. From what I understand on the website, these sessions are available in both Dutch and English.
Please note: the appointment is not immediate. If you are in a crisis, contact 113 (NL suicide hotline / chat).
Even if you aren’t from the Netherlands, feel free to share to spread the word and / or add information regarding suicide prevention and mental health assistance for your country. If this post can even help one person, it will have been a success. Thank you for reading. 🙏🏼

Tips for Studying When You Have ADHD/Never Learned How
Hi everyone! I have a few tips that I’ve gathered over the years to help cope with your brain not working like everyone else’s.
1. Find a way to turn part of your brain off.
For me, this means having something that is stimulating in the background, like a podcast or loooong video. I really like stuff like Critical Role, if it’s too funny it just distracts me so I recommend something serious but not really important to know.
Conversely...
2. Find a way to turn your body off.
I do this by crocheting. It’s like productive stimming, it’s fun, the progress mounts super quickly, and you can redo something over and over if you need to. I use this time to listen to something important. Because my hands and eyes have something stimulating them, my ears are free to listen intently. This is when you should listen to an audiobook or a recorded lecture.
3. Don’t read and have someone speaking in your language at the same time.
That’s a recipe for not understanding either thing and having your time be wasted, essentially. If you’re reading, keep any background to something that you can tune out but still have in your mind, like lofi or classical music. Sometimes I’ll even use albums that I’ve listened to hundreds of times because my brain goes on autopilot for those.
4. Keep your workspace as busy as you need, but don’t let it get cluttered.
If you are a maximalist like me (or love hoarding stationery) your desk might be a little... much. And that’s okay! As long as you can work with visual stimulation. This comes down to personal preference, but if you know that having few things helps your focus, try to downsize, or vice versa!
5. Structure your study time and plan your breaks.
Structure is so important for my mental health and function, so I always recommend it to others. Plan your study time, lay out what you want to learn by the end, and have some sort of timer or cue for when it’s time to take a break. I recommend short breaks every 90 minutes or so, and a long one after 4+ hours. If studying in tiny chunks doesn’t work for you, don’t do it! If you need bigger blocks of time that’s totally fine, don’t feel guilty about not being able to focus properly on 10 minute sessions.
6. Repetition is soooo important for conceptual things.
Math and science can be especially difficult for people with ADHD due to memory problems. It is very important that you work at these problems and repeat them over and over to get the concept memorized in your long term memory so you can reach it continually. So, do your assigned problems, do the other problems in the book, find some on Khan Academy, and do them until it’s ingrained. It’s so worth it, I promise.
7. Set your own deadlines and STICK TO THEM
If your procrastinate until the 11th hour and then produce decent work, I completely understand and see you. However, work with your executive dysfunction and trick your brain. Set deadlines for yourself and rewards for sticking to them, punishments if you don’t, and actually enforce them. Maybe if you don’t finish your rough draft by Thursday night, you have to finish it before you can FaceTime your friends. If you do finish it on time, call and play some games together. It helps to have a study buddy to keep you accountable and set deadlines with so you can both motivate each other and be accountable. ***Be very careful to not let this affect your mental health!!! Do not burn yourself out and lose your friends, your mental health comes first!!!***
Finally
8. Do not beat yourself up for not being entirely productive all the time.
You are human. You are already at a disadvantage due to your brain’s chemistry. Work with your brain, don’t berate it. Eat some candy or drink some Gatorade to give it the dopamine it needs to keep focusing. Take down time for yourself. Let yourself have free time to just exist, practice regular self care and hygiene. You are strong, valid, and brave for going against the odds and pursuing learning at this disadvantage. I am very proud of you, and I know you can succeed.

I decided to start a thread about medieval Arab political thought because I just finished a course on this and it is super interesting.
Firstly, I need to make a distinction between Arab philosophy and Islamic philosophy: while those are often used interchangeably, Arab philosophy is a more accurate term because the thoughts and ideas presented were not all by muslims, and not all Islamic philosophies were written in Arabic, or by Muslims. Another reason is that while, yes these thoughts were often written in relation to Islam, they weren’t all focused about Islam, or any other religion.
Let’s start with the term “philosophy” in terms of society and politics: what does it mean?
Well, first of all, Ancient Greek philosophy was all about the truth and achieving the truth. It revolved around civil life - the common idea was that only a philosopher - a good philosopher - is able to govern a society because they know more about the truth that the masses. This notion was passed down through Hellenistic studies into neo-Platonism, the hub of which being Alexandria. Neo-Platonism was preserved and passed down through the ages until it reached Arabic. Philosophy then was translated into فلسفة سياسية (falsafa siasia), which translates to “political philosophy.” However, the word “siasia” - loosely means “political” - is much more complicated to translate into english or any other modern langauge. “Siasia” comes from a different word which means “to manage” (meaning to manage something in order to fix it). While Arab philosophy is Hellenistic in nature, it also differs due to the societal structure during medieval times. Politics was all encompassing and philosophers often discussed matters that have to do with education, unification, obedience, etc. in relation to cosmological beliefs.
Now, this is where we get two branches of “falsafa” (philosophy): سياسة مدنية siasa madania (political philosophy), and سياسة شرعية siasa shar’ia (politics that follow the religious law).
[In the next post, I will explain each branch]

Funny little head canon that students go to Mr Lancer if they have questions or want to learn random but what should be common adult knowledge and skills that generally isn't taught at school. Dash gets his licence and the first thing he does is go to Lancer and ask for tips on maintaining the engine and changing tires. Valerie keeps "mysteriously" tearing clothes and asks Lancer to teach her how to sew. Sam wants to be less dependent on her rich parents and asks Lancer what she'd need to do to get her own place as soon as age permits. Danny asks Lancer to help him learn to cook because his parents cooking is usually awful or alive. Tucker get Lancer's advice on stock investments since he has big plans on being wealthy. If Lancer doesn't know how to do what a student is asking he'll look up videos and go through them with the student so they both learn a new skill. As such Lancer's sort of known as the school dad.
He also let's students know he's proud of them for seeking to learn these skills, finds it infuriating when parents ridicule their children for not knowing how to do something when they never bothered to teach them in the first place. Many problems are also brought to Lancer as students feel more comfortable talking to him. As such he is often the first to know when a student comes out and always the first to support them.
If a student is struggling with a class he won't force them to do more to keep up. He will offer his help and if the student takes it he will go above and beyond to be sure the subject is better understood even if that means repeating material he's already gone over. He understands that students have lives outside of school and often tries to lessen homework on Fridays and Mondays.
I'd like to think that he enjoys his job as a teacher, it's why he teaches so many subjects, it's why he give Danny the time of day to improve. He's not just there for a paycheck or he wouldn't bother with half the stuff he does.
I vote for wholesome Lancer content.
