I was watching a video on TikToker drama (about someone I don’t know named OnlyJayus by a Youtuber I like named Cruel World Happy Mind) and there was a part where the TikToker blew off another TikToker they were going to collab with and it caused drama (there’s a lot of context as to why this was dramatic and it has to do with racial issues, but I won’t get into it here). 

Anyway, the original TikToker explained that they have ADHD and it causes them to be forgetful. A bunch of people were outraged and were like “Well, I have ADHD and I never forget important things!! Forgetfulness is not a symptom of ADHD!! This person is full of bullshit!!” 

Like I’m sorry but that is such horseshit and it really pissed me off as someone who suffers from ADHD myself. I have memory issues, sometimes severely impacting my life; I straight-up can’t remember large chunks of my own life (and before you ask, no, it’s not due to trauma) and I forget to do things on the daily. People have messaged me and I haven’t gotten back to them until days later. I have to force myself to eat sometimes (especially since my ADHD meds kill my appetite). For really important things, sometimes I’ve even written them down on my hand so I’m forced to look at it and remember. Things like post it notes, alarms, calendars, etc have limited effectiveness and they have helped a lot, but I can’t use them too often or else they become background clutter I just ignore. If something is not directly in my line of sight, it’s very easy to forget.

I’m not trying to tell a sob story, I’m just outlining that a lot of people are like me and their ADHD does cause memory issues and forgetfulness. And I’ve just noticed that some people whose ADHD isn’t as severe tend to brush off or downplay/question the experiences of those of us with worse symptoms. Like it’s not just in the case of this TikToker, it happens all the time when ADHD comes up and people are explaining their issues as a result of having it. I understand not wanting ADHD to be stigmatized further, but it’s not cool to accuse people of lying about their disorders.

Idk, it just comes off as extremely ableist. They’re higher-functioning people questioning/denying the experiences of lower-functioning people.

Do you mean they? Because that's their preferred pronouns. I've checked other Wikipedia posts and Sam Smith is reffered to using their preferred pronouns.

Is this sexism? Because Sam Smith has male genitalia (I assume) and janelle monáe has female genitalia (still just assuming)

Sexism and trans phobia (us it transphobia for non binary people? Idk) that preferred pronouns are only used for people with dicks. What the fuck society.

(This is all assumed stuff. I havent checked that many people's Wikipedia accounts to know for sure but i know that onlyjayus had this issue as well)
