Rowing the Rarepair Rowboat: Brett Talbot x Isaac Lahey (Teen Wolf)
Requested by @rhyslahey
Brett stops Scott before he can knock on the door. Lori groans but he doesn't take another step, looking directly at Scott.
"You're absolutely positive we'll be safe here?" He doesn't ask because he doesn't trust Scott, but because he needs to see that he believes this is the right decision as well. For Lori's sake more than anything.
Scott understands. "I promise. No one is going to find you here. Not Monroe, not Gerard. Nobody knows this safe house exists outside of the pack."
He assured him of that before they even left, but now that they're in France, so far away... Far away is good. For the time being, at least, until things settle down and it's safe for them to return home.
"And this friend of yours, the one who lives here," Brett begins, eyebrows raising, "you're sure we can trust him?"
"Brett," Lori says impatiently. She can't stop looking around them every few seconds, worried they're going to be crept up on.
Scott nods once more and wholeheartedly says, "You can trust him. Isaac is one of us, and he knows we're here."
Taking a deep breath, he finally lets Scott go ahead and knock on the door. He keeps himself back a bit as footsteps approach them on the other side of the door. His arm slowly creeps out to push Lori back if necessary.
The door opens. They're immediately ushered inside, and Scott offers for them to go first but Brett insists. He walks in behind him, keeping Lori close at his heels.
For a safe house, it's a pretty nice apartment. They all move into a big room with two couches and double glass doors that lead out onto a balcony. The thin, grey curtains are drawn enough for him to spot the Eiffel Tower in the distance.
Brett turns his back to it as Isaac, he presumes, walks in. He and Scott have a moment together, sharing a hug and a general greeting. Then Scott turns to him and Lori with a smile.
"Guys, this is Isaac. An old friend," he says, and turns back to Isaac as he continues, "this is Brett and Lori. I told you what's been going on, and that they need somewhere to sort of lay low for a little while. We're hoping not more than a couple weeks."
"You never know with Gerard," Isaac says darkly. "I thought he was gone for good and now you tell me he's back. And with a new sidekick, like Kate wasn't bad enough?"
"Except, he's her sidekick, apparently."
There seems to be some doubt in that for both of them. Brett keeps his eyes on Isaac, and only shakes his head in response when he asks him and Lori if they want something to drink.
Isaac leaves the room to get some water and a croissant for Lori, who complained that she was starving, to Brett's annoyance. He did offer to get her breakfast at the airport and she called him overbearing.
"You'll both be fine here," Scott says to them softly. He seems to be talking more to Brett than to Lori, who's already wandering the room, admiring the framed art on the walls.
Brett says nothing, but glances around as well. It really doesn't look like a bad place. Maybe a bit more open than he would like for the place they're meant to be "hiding out" but it's high-up and in a whole other country from Monroe or Gerard. Could be worse. He and Lori could be dead.
Stepping closer to him, Scott lowers his voice like it'll make any difference. "Are you okay?"
For a second, he's tempted to admit that he's scared. Terrified, actually. Of being found. Losing Lori. Being in a place so far from the only people they were able to call family. His stomach lurches at the thought of Satomi.
He clenches his teeth and nods, forcing a tight smile. "Mhm."
"I can stay tonight, if that would help. But I would need to go back tomorrow. With everything going on back in Beacon Hills, I can't stay too long," Scott says, looking and sounding like he feels horrible about it.
"It's fine," Brett says. "I get it. They need you. We'll be fine here, like you said." His eyes dart to the kitchen door where he can see Isaac buttering Lori's croissant. He nods his head toward him. "And he seems nice enough."
Scott nods with full sincerity. "He's one of the best I know."
Then Brett decides. This Isaac guy must be the real deal. When Isaac returns to them a moment later and offers him a glass of water, he accepts it with a slight smile of gratitude.
"Feel free to head through to the bedroom and get some sleep," Isaac tells him, glancing back at Lori as well, then turning back to flick his eyes up and down Brett's rigid form. "You look like you're about to drop dead from exhaustion."
Lori snickers. Brett narrows his eyes at him. His mouth curls into the first real smile in the past forty-eight hours or so.
"I'll remember to throw on some makeup next time I'm on the run," he replies dryly. "Thanks for the compliment, Jean-Paul."
"You know I'm not actually French."
"That's a shame," Brett says, unscrewing the lid from his bottle. He walks around him and Scott, pointing down the hallway they came in through. "Bedroom's down here?"
"Yeah, on the right." Isaac then turns to Scott and Lori in confusion as Brett goes to find the room. "Why's that a shame?"
He smirks to himself as Lori wearily answers, "He's always said he wants to date a French guy. Or even just one who can speak the language semi-fluently."
"Oh," Isaac says. After a beat, "I'm pretty fluent."

I believe Theo not only can speak french, but is even MORE fluent in reading french than english. The Doctors may have talked to him in both languages but I bet most of their books and notes were in french and Theo got used to only reading in this language

so our time’s come around, and our wounds run deep
relationships: jackson whittemore & isaac lahey, minor ethan/jackson whittemore rating: T total word count: 8.2k important tags: canon compliant, complicated relationships, gap filler, light angst, hurt/comfort, hopeful ending warnings: blood & injury, canon-typical violence
There’s nothing to be done about it now, though. Another twenty minutes and Jackson will be in Paris, and from there he has to figure out how to get to Troyes, where supposedly he’ll find this omega. All he has to go off is the word of an alpha in Paris whose intel had come from an anonymous source. For all he knows, it’s a false alarm. A year ago, Jackson would have ignored it.
But a year ago, werewolves weren’t dying left and right.
Not just dying. Being murdered. Being hunted, like they haven’t been in years. And if werewolves are being hunted, Jackson has a vested interest in knowing why.
written for day 6 of isaac appreciation week, for the prompt outsider POV! unsuprisingly this one also got away from me and unsurprisingly i maintain it still counts. thanks again to @softranswolves for organizing :)

allisaac fix it fic idea
canon compliant fix it fic where allison comes back but also kira comes back and allison sees them and realises they have unfinished business. So she backs away to let them sort it out. She’s still mentally and physically 17 (despite crystal’s actual age) so like, everyone is twice as old as she is now, yikes. Scott has been through so much without her, and it’s aged him. funnily, kira only seems to have aged a few years, but it’s the kitsune inside her, and they start bonding uneasily again.
also, derek comes back because if peter couldn’t stay dead then HE CAN’T EITHER.
some time later, after she’s had a little time to grow up, allison goes to France, about age 19/20, in around 2028. She knows she has some history here - both family... and romantic.
isaac hears her voice passing by, and he freezes to the spot and drops whatever he’s holding because dammit, he knows that voice, even if he hasn’t heard it in 17 years - but he turns around, and nothing. In fact, someone taps him on the shoulder and he has a palpitation thinking he sees Allison - but it’s a stranger telling him he dropped something.
Allison doesn’t even know what she’s doing in France - her father told her he took her ex boyfriend here after her death, but she can’t even remember what he looks like. She was too shy to ask for photos. She’s just curious - it’s the family history. plus, she’s still not sure if she’s getting over scott.
let’s say isaac has been running around with french wolves in the meantime. argent really ditched him, didn’t he. so he should’ve left him in the care of someone else. Isaac by now has developed a slight french accent because he’s been living there for 17 years, and speaks fluent french now. After years and years, he’d finally worked up the courage to ask someone else out, but it didn’t work out - and that’s the way it’s been. He runs around, helping protect his town from french enemies with the new pack. however.... he’s not really officially part of the pack. He feels like a lone wolf sometimes. he misses being scott’s beta. he wonders how everyone in california is - and subsequently feels both relieved he missed out on drama, and sad that they’ve all bonded without him. Chris has since returned to France occasionally, and maybe mentioned to him about going back on the occasions he’s been able to  find him, but isaac found he still couldn’t go back. not without her.
(Chris hasn’t bothered to tell him allison is alive again - it would only force him to relive trauma, and twice over that she’s with scott.)
and then one day, standing on the opposite train platform.... Allison. His train arrives, and it blocks her out, but in a moment of desperation he jumps on top of the train to see her better. She squints at him as if she knows him, but not really, then gets on a train. When security comes, he lets them take him to avoid escalation, though he recalls that his 17-year-old self would have definitely jumped onto the roof and kept running after her train. Damn, he hasn’t caused a scene in years - what did he just do?
‘Allison’ is long gone by the time he’s let go... but he knows where her train went.
and so begins their story.

Fact I: From what I found online, France started using electricity around 1870-1880. It intensified after 1881, after the Exposition Universelle (Universal Exposition) in Paris, when they lit up the Eiffel Tower.
Fact II: We know we are in the 19th century in-game, but don’t know which year exactly (not that I remember). Which means: our story is around 1870-1899, because there's electricity.
Tumblr media
With all that information, I have so many comments and questions!
1. Imagine how freaked out Jean was when he went to the mansion! He died soooo young! And like 450 years BEFORE there was such a technology as a freaking lamp. Well, almost all of them died before the electricity…
2. Vincent, Theo and Arthur come from the future. They actually were alive in the same years that the story passes. I guess they never leave Paris or they would’ve encountered themselves? I don’t know how this paradox would work. Dazai is also from the future.
3. I never thought Comte would be the “youngest” pure blood. I don’t remember them saying anything about it.
4. Napoleon probably met Charles before. As a fact, I googled it and found a little story about it, but apparently it’s not proven: “They met by accident near the Place de la Concorde, the same place he had killed the last king a decade earlier. Recognizing Charles, Napoleon asked if he would do the same to him if it came to it. Apparently displeased by the affirmative answer, Napoleon asked how he could sleep at night, to which Charles said, ‘If kings, emperors, and dictators can sleep well, why shouldn’t an executioner?’”
5. Arthur not only knew Shakespeare’s work, but he wrote a poem about it — and it’s so hard for someone who has english as a second language to read. It’s named “Shakespeare's Expostulation” (published in Songs of the Road) and it’s Shakespeare complaining about the attribution of authorship of his works to Francis Bacon.
6. It would be so awkward a meeting between Jean and Charles. Not related to any particular information in this post, just thought of the irony and got sad.
7. Dazai (and probably Arthur) knows what a car is. It must be weird for him to ride a carriage.
8. Aside from Jean, Theo is the youngest. Isaac is the oldest (not counting Comte).
9. Not related to this post specifically, but did you know Isaac Newton never dated anyone? He died a virgin. Now think about what an awkward snowflake he’s in-game.

stiles helping derek search for erica and boyd during the summer between season 2 and 3a is the only thing that makes sense.
allison was in france the entire summer only having just recently returned.
lydia occupied herself with various fuck 'em and leave 'em boys to get over jackson
scott was doing the be a better scott mccall program.
isaac was looking for erica and boyd
and stiles was doing what?????????? exactly??????????
he and scott don't seem to have spent a lot of time together since scott was doing summer school, working and self improvement.
but stiles? nothing is said.
except after the incident with the deer he immediately searches deer accident reports.
the sheriff seems quite fed up with him given his "oh god please go to school" comment so he's probably been around the house a lot, probably doing research on various topics but he's been behaving himself since stiles says his dad has nothing on him.
he is also the one to remind scott that derek's been busy with looking for erica and boyd when scott wants to go talk to him about the tattoo saying "don't you think derek has his hands full?"
since when is stiles on the defend derek committee? let alone leading it?
when scott and stiles are on the phone together after the bird attack and derek's taking isaac to the hale house scott tells stiles to meet them at derek's house.
stiles expresses both surprise and confusion at this probably in my estimation because stiles knows about and has been to the loft while scott has no idea the loft exists yet.
scott even asks derek after he hangs up with stiles if derek still lives there and derek says no that the county took the house.
and of course there's the new familiarity between stiles and derek during the whole scene when derek blow torches scott's tattoo.
the infamous forever long tracking stare.
they're also casually loitering together waiting for scott to come to. love that for them.
Tumblr media
but the most damning thing is how little stiles says when scott finds out about the alpha pack. stiles doesn't complain about derek not telling them because stiles already knew.
derek never says it. he only mentions peter and isaac but he keeps throwing looks in stiles's direction who is folding his arms and fidgeting.
there's a little moment where scott asks "how do you deal with an alpha pack?" and derek responds with "with all the help i can get."
it immediately cuts to stiles and scott raises his eyebrows with realization. he looks at stiles and stiles does a small little guilty head nod but they're interrupted by isaac before he can say anything.
this whole moment is basically derek omitting stiles's involvement but scott figures it out from context clues, derek's terrible poker face and inability to not look at stiles.
he figures out that stiles was not only helping look for boyd and erica but also knew about the alpha pack and that he kept it from him.
those trust issues already be percolating. scott didn't tell stiles about the gerard argent plan. stiles didn't tell scott about helping derek over the summer.

Hiyaaa darling.
I am looking for a fic that i read ages ago...
The nogitsune left something behind and stiles is something now. I know that at the end of the fic scott discovers that stiles and derek are together and they are pack because when derek howls calling for pack lydia screams, stiles, isaac and jackson howl even tough isaac was in france and jackson in england. They end up leaving beacon hills after expelling scott from the territory by revoking his bond with thr hales.
Thank you for this
Hi @somethingsomewherethere! @dimeler says it's this one.

Tour de Richmond
Fandom: Ted Lasso
Pairing: Jamie Tartt x F!Reader
Summary: Jamie gives you a tour of Richmond as well as gets to know you better. When you tell your cousin of his teammate's generosity, he suddenly becomes a bit hostile towards Jamie.
Meet Cousin McAdoo | Caffeine Crash
A/N: i looked up the bare minimum of the Richmond area. if anything is wrong, please let me know!
Tumblr media
"So you've been around here, yeah?" Jamie asks, gesturing to the small shops that neighbors the cafe you were just at.
"A bit. Haven't really gone in any of these shops. But they're cute!"
"We can pop in a few if you'd like?" he suggests, pointing to a bookshop to your left.
"Another time."
Jamie shrugs, "Suit yourself."
He guides you away from the shops and towards, "The Richmond Green. The general gathering spot for people here. Kids like to play football here. There's sometimes cricket tournies here too."
You smile at the gathering of people scattered around the green acres. You see a small group of people doing yoga, three teens kicking a football around, people walking their dogs around. It's a very comforting atmosphere.
Jamie does his best not to be obvious about looking at you. He finds himself smiling to himself because you seem to find joy in the sights before you. He then turns to the view and realizes that he's never really enjoyed watching everything and everyone. He's always ran past them all during trainings and whatnot.
"Sorry, is it okay if we sit down and people watch for a little?"
"Uh, yeah, sure," he follows you to a bench where you both sit down.
You sit your drink and stare, "It's nice to just sit here and watch everything. I find it very calming. I don't get to do it much back home, though, always too busy with work and life."
"I don't think I've ever done this. I felt like I need to be on the go, ya know? Spend my time trying to get better, improvin' and all that."
You turn your attention to him, "You've never given yourself a break? What do you do during the off season? Don't you go on vacation?"
He shrugs, "I'm busy practicin'. I'll visit me mum and Simon sometimes, but they're doing their own travelin' a lot of the time," he nudges you with his shoulder, "What about you? Have you done any travelin'?"
"When my aunt married Isaac's uncle, that was the first time I travelled. They had a destination wedding in France. Wanted to be in the city of love and romance. That's where I met Isaac. We became really close through that trip. He's like my big brother. Always looking out for me." you take another sip of your drink and stand to your feet, "Okay. I'm ready to continue."
Jamie follows as you two continue to walk around the green. He points over in one direction, "Right there is the Richmond Palace. The Tudors lived there and some shit. Over there is the Richmond Theater. They do plays and stuff there."
You snort at Jamie's explanations, "Some tour guide you are! You're not going to give me a brief history on the town or these historic landmarks?" you give him a playful smirk.
He chuckles, "I'm sorry I didn't do me homework before offerin' you a tour. Here," he pulls out his phone, quickly typing something and clearing his throat, "Richmond was founded following King Henry VII's building in the 16th century of Richmond Palace.  The town and palace became particularly associated with Queen Elizabeth I , who spent her last days there," he lowers his phone down, smirking at you, "Better?"
You giggle, "You're funny. Are all of Isaac's teammates like you?"
"Nah. I'm the best outta all of them. I'm the funniest, best lookin'-"
"Most humble," you add with jest.
Jamie's smiling at you. He enjoys your company. He feels at ease around you and he's only spent maybe an hour in your presence. He likes this little back and forth you and he seem to be doing. It's nice. It's fun. Maybe-
A ringing comes from your bag and you swiftly pull your phone out, answering, "Good morning, sleepy head...I woke up early and thought I'd grab a coffee," you roll your eyes, "Don't be dramatic, Isaac, I'm an adult. I can handle myself...I'm not alone. Jamie." you sigh, "Yes, Jamie Tartt. Hold on," you pull the phone away from you and hold it out to Jamie, "He wants confirmation I'm really with you?"
Jamie takes the phone and presses it to his ear, "Yeah, what's good, man?"
"You better keep her safe, bruv. If anything happens to her-"
"Oi! Chill man! We're just walking around the fuckin' park."
"I'm serious, Jamie."
"We'll be fine. She's a grown adult, man. Let her be," he hands the phone back to you.
"If you're going to be like this my entire visit, I'm getting a hotel, Isaac...yes, I'm serious! ...again, I can handle myself. I'll see you soon. Bye!" you immediately end the call and take a long sip from your coffee.
"I get he loves you and all, but Jesus. I can practically see that vein in his head ready to pop out."
You burst out laughing, "I know exactly what you're talking about! Also the way he frowns when he's all serious. Like," you do your best impression of Isaac frowning and Jamie laughs, "That's pretty good."
"Thanks," you reply with a smile, "I'm sorry about Isaac, by the way. Like I said, he's like my big brother and he sometimes takes the role too seriously. But he means well."
"I know. He's a good guy."
Another hour goes by of you and Jamie chatting, him occasionally pointing out some other Richmond landmarks. It was a very pleasant morning spent. He walked you all the way back to Isaac's.
"Thank you, Jamie. This morning was fun."
"I'm glad. Sorry again for crashin' into ya like that."
You shrug, "It's okay. It led to a fun little adventure with you."
Jamie slowly backs away from you, "See ya around."
"See ya!" you wave as he's lightly jogging down the street. You continue to watch him as he fades from view. There's a little fluttering in your chest and you feel a bit giddy.
You open the door to Isaac's and you yelp in surprise as he's standing there, arms over his chest, looking very stern.
"Uh, hi?"
"Did Jamie try anything?"
"What? No! He just gave me a tour of the town!"
"So he didn't try to kiss you or nothin'?"
You roll your eyes, "Nothing happened, Isaac. And if something did, it's none of your business! Besides, I thought you said Jamie is a better person now."
"Doesn't mean he can date you."
"Whatever," you pass him and head to the kitchen to make yourself a snack.

could i request more fics for isaac😭😭💙
this love
Tumblr media
pairing: isaac lahey x reader
summary: after years of not seeing isaac, he shows up at a hangout you’re having with your friends
warnings: mentions of alcohol, characters are aged up
a/n: hi anon ! thank you so much for the request. i hope you enjoy and anyone else who would like to request anything please do. i’m low on motivation lmao
Tumblr media
“lydia, i’m really not sure if i can make it.” you say into the phone, “i mean i have so much to do for work.”
“that’s the point. it’ll be a break from all of that.” she says. “and we haven’t all met up in awhile. it’ll be fun.”
you shut your apartment door behind you as you set your bags down, “lydia…”
“please, y/n/n. who knows the next time we’ll all be able to hang out. you know how stiles is about this stuff.”
she was right. you knew stiles was worried about all of you drifting apart. and while you guys had all gone off and got your own jobs and homes, you still met up whenever you could. just standing there now, you can imagine stiles’ puppy dog eyes looking back at you.
“yeah, okay.” you sigh, “i’ll see you guys tonight.”
“yay ! okay, i’ll see you later. bye.”
“bye.” you say before you hang up.
•••
the bar is loud as you walk through the door. you were dressed in a pair of light washed jeans and a crop top. it was a very simply outfit, but you knew your friends would be dressed the same.
you hold your purse close to you as you walk through the bar. your friends were sat all the way in the back as usual. the booth you guys always take whenever you met up there.
a small smile takes over your face as you see stiles telling a story with his hands flying all over. as you get closer, scott looks over at you.
“hey, y/n/n.” he smiles. everyone else at the table turns toward you as you get closer.
“hey, guys !”
“y/n !” lydia says as she gets up to hug you. you laugh as she squeezes you before letting go.
“how are you guys ?”
“great.” stiles nods before taking a sip of his drink. he steps aside as scott gets up.
“i’ll be back.” he says before walking off
“here, y/n/n.” liam says sliding a drink over, “i was the only one nice enough to actually order it for you.”
“because you’re the only one who remembered it, asshole.” malia says
“it’s still odd knowing you can drink now, but thank you.” you chuckle. “where’d scott go ?”
“oh, uh,” stiles starts, “he went to go grab someone.”
you furrow your brows as you scoot in beside lydia, “who ?”
“guys !” scott calls out. you turn in the direction of his voice and your eyes widen.
“oh my god.” you mutter
“hey.” isaac smiles
“hey, isaac.” stiles says awkwardly, “glad to see you, buddy.”
“you’re back from france ?” lydia asks
“uh, yeah.” he nods
scott pats his shoulder, “he’s staying, too. i figured i’d invite him to the meet up.”
“the more the merrier.” lydia shrugs. she looks over at you before nudging you, “right, y/n/n ?”
“huh ?” you blurt out turning to her before looking back up at isaac and smiling, “oh, yes, yeah. the more the merrier.”
isaac smiles nodding. you hear stiles chuckling from the other side of the table. you leg flies out and kicks him in his shin under the table. “ow !”
•••
it had been about two hours since isaac had shown up and everything seemed to be going okay. everyone fell into casual conversation as usual. you laughed along with your friends before looking down at your empty cup.
you turn to lydia, “hey, i’m gonna go grab another drink.”
“okay.” she smiles. you slide out of the booth before heading toward the bar.
you sit on a stool as a bartender comes up to you. “hi, can i get a margarita please ?”
“of course.” she smiles, “coming right up.”
you give a grateful smile back, “thank you.”
as she walks off, you look down at your hands. you look over as someone sits in the stool next to you. your heart beat accelerates as isaac’s blue eyes stare back at you.
“hey.” he says
“hi.” you smile
silence falls between the two of you. you and isaac dated for about a year before he left for france. of course, it hurt, but you knew leaving was probably what was best for him. especially considering he didn’t actually have any family left in beacon hills.
when he left, you guys didn’t keep any contact. you truly thought he wouldn’t ever come back to beacon hills. but as he sat next to you six years later, he looked just as beautiful as he did when he left.
he was of course older and his features were more defined. he had stumble growing across his chin. and to be honest, you loved it. he was older, but he still looked like the same guy you fell in love with.
and as isaac sat across from you, he couldn’t imagine anyone more beautiful. your eyes were still sparkling and full of happiness. your skin and your smile just as gorgeous and as captivating as he remembered. whenever you guys were sat with your friends, he thought you would’ve caught him staring. and now with the two of you alone, he was afraid he wouldn’t ever be able to keep his eyes off of you.
“how have you been ?” he asks
“um, i’m good. i’ve been really busy with work and stuff.” you chuckle, “but i’m good. how about you ? how was france ?”
“it was great.” he smiles, “it felt good to take the time for myself. i really needed it.”
“i understand.” you nod. you look over as a glass is set in front of you, “thank you.”
“no problem.” she says before turning to isaac, “would you like anything, sir ?”
“no, thank you.” he says. the bartender nods before walking off. “so, what do you do for work ?”
“i’m a web developer for a fashion company.” you say
“seriously ?” he asks. you hum in agreement, “that’s amazing, y/n/n. i remember you talking about that a couple of years ago.”
“yeah, it’s not exactly what i wanted to do, but i’m still involved, so it’s amazing.”
“yeah.” he says as you look down at your drink. his eyes soften, “y/n ?”
“hm ?”
“i’m really sorry.” he says. you look over at him with a frown, “i’m sorry for just leaving like that.”
“don’t be.” you say shaking your head, “i understand why you left. honestly, thinking back, i probably would’ve done the same thing.”
“i wanted to call you.” he nods, “and i would’ve, but i didn’t know if you hated me or didn’t want me to contact you. i probably should’ve asked scott, but i knew he had a lot going on.”
“it’s okay, isaac.” you say. isaac can feel his heart skip a beat at the way his name sounded coming from you.
“so, we’re okay ?”
“of course, we are.” you say, “we always will be.”
isaac smiles wide, “great.”
you pull away from your straw to face isaac. his blue eyes following your every move. as you looked at him, you notice the look in his eyes. the same look he would give you anytime he saw you when you were dating. the same look that he still had whenever he told you he was leaving for france.
the look that told you that he loved you and would do anything for you. it was still there.

Just want everyone to know that my brother’s post-canon concept of Isaac becoming a famous fashion model after moving to France and being insufferable— to pretty much the same degree as before except now he’s rich and famous to back it up— upon returning to Beacon Hills (in a very nice car, he specified, because Isaac’s extra that way— I added that he’d have bigass name brand bags hanging off his arm and would take off a pair of sunglasses as dramatically as possible) is actually the best one.
He also stipulated that Scott is completely unaware of this development so when he sees the sweet car pull up he has no idea who it is. Stiles, however, groans as he drags a hand down his face and says “with this shit again” cause 1) he’s in the know and 2) with an entrance as pretentious as that who-the-fuck-else would it be.
No comments no criticisms my brother is the fucking smartest.

Beneath City Lights
Characters: Isaac Lahey and Reader
Not Requested
Word Count: 705
Inspiration: "We’re lying on a desert parking level, watching the stars, but we’re in a big city with too much light, so we end up just watching each other."
Tumblr media
“Thought I would find you here,” Isaac looked back, seeing Y/n approaching him slowly.
As she laid down next to him, he just kept on staring at her. They were on a deserted parking level, watching the stars, but they were in a big city, so they ended up just staring at each other.
“Why?”
“What?” she questioned him, not losing eye contact.
“Why did you come with me?” Y/n tried to look away from Isaac but he gently pulled her back by holding her chin. “Please look me in the eye when you answer this.”
“Because…” she linked her lips,” I didn’t want you to come alone.”
“I wasn’t coming alone.”
“Come on Isaac,” she sat up, “Can we just stay here in silence?”
He sat up too, “No, I have been wondering this for a long time, I need answers,”
Y/n just looked at him, how could she explain this without bringing back the pain?
“We weren’t even friends,” she rolled her eyes, “I just want to know why you came with me,”
“Remember after Alison died?” Isaac glanced at the ground for a moment before turning his gaze back to Y/n and nodding.
“You told me you talked to her before she went,”
“Yeah, she asked me two things, the first one to tell Stiles to take care of Scott,” she smiled.
He smiled back remembering their friends they hadn’t seen in a while “And the second?”
“To take care of you no matter what, and that’s what I’m doing, taking care of you,”
“And that implies following me to France?”
She let out a breathy laugh, “Well, you decided you wanted to move here, so I didn’t have that much of a choice,”
“You could have stayed,”
“I could have,” she lay back down “but it wouldn’t be the same, it would feel wrong,”
“Wrong? How?”, he propped himself up with his arm looking at her.
“I don’t know,” she looked ahead, avoiding eye contact. “it would feel wrong to ignore one of her last wishes like this, it would feel like a betrayal, you know?” she looked back at him.
Isaac had never stopped looking at her. He smiled and softly pulled a strand of her hair behind her ear. How could this woman, who had done more for them than they could ever thank her for, think for a second that she was betraying her friend if she didn’t follow him across the world?
“Y/n, you are crazy,”
“What?” she looked confused at him. Isaac just kissed her forehead and laid down next to her.
As they laid there in the quiet, Y/n could feel the weight of Isaac’s words sinking in. The city hummed with distant sounds, but in that moment, the deserted parking level felt like a sanctuary. She turned her head to look at Isaac, her friend, her confidant, the one who had shouldered the burden of a promise made in the shadow of grief.
Isaac broke the silence, his voice carrying sincerity. “You’re not betraying anyone, Y/n. You’re honoring a promise, just like I am. We’re keeping her memory alive by being here for each other.”
Y/n couldn’t help but smile, a mixture of gratitude and relief playing on her lips. “I guess you’re right. It’s just sometimes I wonder if I’m doing the right thing.”
Isaac propped himself up on one elbow, gazing down at her. “You’re doing the best you can, and that’s all anyone can ask for. Alison would be proud of you, just like she’d be proud of me for looking out for you.”
Y/n’s eyes softened, and she reached for Isaac’s hand, intertwining their fingers. “Thank you for being here, Isaac. I don’t say it enough, but I appreciate you more than you know.”
Isaac squeezed her hand gently. “I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. We’re in this together, Y/n, no matter where life takes us.”
They lay there, under the canvas of stars, finding solace in the shared understanding of their journey. The city below continued its restless rhythm, but for Isaac and Y/n, the world had momentarily stilled, giving them a space to heal and remember.

THE FACE OF THE STATUE OF LIBERTY
How did the widow of the creator of the Singer sewing machines give her face to the Statue of Liberty?
Isabella Boyer's life is like a thrilling novel. She was born in Paris, in a family of an African pastry chef father and an English mother. Her name was Isabella, a beautiful name that should have been the basis of a beautiful destiny. It quickly became clear that nature gave Isabella a special beauty.
At 20, she marries sewing machine maker Isaac Singer, 50, and after his death becomes the richest woman in the country. And no wonder she was chosen as the model for the Statue of Liberty, because she embodies the American dream come true. After becoming a widow, Isabella began traveling the world, seeking new knowledge and exciting challenges, far too young to be buried under mourning clothes.
She remarried Dutch violinist Victor Robstett, who is a world celebrity and an earl, so Isabella also becomes a countess. Soon Isabella becomes the star of showrooms in America and Europe, and is invited to all world events. At one of them, she met the famous French sculptor Frederick Bartoldi. At the time, Bartoldi was strongly impressed by his trip to the United States, by the size of the country, by its natural resources, by the population there, and had already accepted the proposal to create a statue symbolizing the independence of the United States. The sculpture was supposed to be a gift from France in honor of the 100th anniversary of the country's independence. Thus the idea of a giant statue depicting a woman holding a torch in one hand and plates in the other was born, with the date of adoption of the Declaration of Independence of the United States.
Bartoldi was so impressed by Isabella's face that he decided to use it as a model for his sculpture. Therefore, on Bedlow Island in the Gulf of New York, the Statue of Liberty was erected with the figure of an ancient goddess, but with the face of Isabella Boyer.
Isabella marries for the third time, at the age of 50, to Paul Sohege, a famous collector of art.
She died in Paris in 1904 at age 62. She is buried in Passy Cemetery.
But the statue with her face continues to rise over Bedlow Island, symbolizing America's first pride, freedom.

Dracula in Netflixvania: how small changes in lore build up to disaster
Changes in adaptations are bound to happen. Cuts in the lore are bound to happen. But I find incredible how so many tiny changes in the lore of Castlevania brought by NFCV, apparently innocuous or even improvements according to some, actually lead to the narrative completely falling apart both as an adaptation and as its own story.
Let's start with the biggest change:
Lament of Innocence didn't happen.
Everything has been covered in this clear thread. To summarize what this change affects:
Dracula in the games started out as Mathias Cronqvist, a man who, wracked by grief for the loss of his wife Elisabetha, rebelled against God and concocted a plan to turn into a vampire and have Death as his loyal servant. In the show, he's just "the oldest vampire", with no clearer origins. (in the games Dracula wasn't even the oldest vampire, Walter and Joachim already existed, but they don't matter for this list)
Leon Belmont in LoI was a crusader who had to throw away his title to rescue Sara, his fiancée. He was involved in Mathias' selfish plan, that lead to Sara's death, and cursed him to be hunted by his descendants for the rest of time: what makes it more painful is that the two used to be best friends. In the show, Leon was already a vampire hunter while fighting in crusades, and only moved from France to Wallachia to hunt Dracula, whom he had no previous relationship with.
The Vampire Killer in the games is the strongest holy weapon against dark creatures, due to it being infused with Sara's soul. There are other whips in the setting, but none can match the Vampire Killer. In the show, it's just a regular consecrated whip, and Trevor also fights with the Morning Star (turned from a powered up version of the VK to a different object) and Leon's longsword (the Belmonts in the games never use swords).
But these can be forgiven as small changes in adaptation, one could say. Elisabetha was cut because, really, she was a non-entity. Sara was cut because the VK can work just fine without her. Leon doesn't need to be Mathias' bestie, the Belmonts can fight Dracula out of the goodness of their heart.
All valid arguments. But this is just the beginning.
Dracula hunted humans before Lisa showed up.
We don't know in detail what Dracula was up to between LoI and CV3. For all intents and purposes, he focused on honing his new vampire powers, moved to Wallachia, made himself a nice castle, and... chilled there. Perhaps he became the voivode of the land, the historical Vlad Țepeș.
It's heavily implied, though, that he had zero beef with humanity, and in fact he was willing to help certain people as long as they were against God, Dracula's one enemy at the time.
Hector and Isaac are, of course, the proof of this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But even without the extra material, they were two humans who were welcomed in his court and served under him, in an extremely important role to boot.
(to be fair, the show gives an alternative and decent explanation for the Forgemasters' presence as humans in Dracula's court: the fact that they're willing to kill their own kind proves to him how trustworthy they are. A detail that was changed but on its own does not break the lore: good job!)
Alucard in GoS gives us these intriguing words:
Tumblr media
which not only emphasize how Lisa brought to light Dracula's better side, but even imply that she briefly reversed the corruption brought by vampirism. It makes more believable why such a pure-hearted woman would fall in love with him.
Instead, the show directly opens with Lisa marching through Dracula's courtyard, infested with impaled skeletons, and flirting with the guy. And if this could be justified if one imagines that those humans attacked Dracula's first, the flashback in Season 2, where he's shown having a grand old time going on a killing spree because some merchants "disrespected" him, proves that no, he was an outright monster when Lisa met him.
Tumblr media
Due to the first season and the finale's rushed nature, it's harder to imagine why would Lisa find a kernel of humanity in this vampire. She doesn't come off too good either.
Why does it matter?: despite his grief having a more prominent role in the story, Dracula is actually less sympathetic in this version. This wouldn't be terrible, as he is meant to be a tragic yet intimidating villain, if it weren't for the fact that the show paints him as utterly pitiable, and it's even known for "giving him depth". Shankar himself sees him as the hero of his own story.
In the show, Carmilla keeps asking why didn't Dracula turn Lisa into a vampire. With game Dracula, one can believe that he valued her humanity so much that he was willing to let her die of old age eventually, as long as she died as herself. The show, instead, never gives us an answer, because the question isn't meant to paint him in a noble light, but as an idiot who doesn't know what he's doing.
Lisa is less compassionate towards humanity.
Lisa's death is very different between Symphony of the Night and show. In the latter she got burned at the stake, while in the former she was crucified and we can assume she bled to death. This affects two factors.
One, in the game, we know that Alucard stayed with his mother until her last breath, allowing her to speak her last words to her son. In the show, Lisa dies alone shouting in the hopes that Dracula hears her. The title sequence of the first episode shows Alucard kneeling in front of Lisa, but this is not shown in the actual story, and there is no further indication that he was actually there: realistically, it's not possible.
Tumblr media
Two, her last words are also different.
SoTN (ENG): "She said "Do not hate humans. If you cannot live with them, then at least do them no harm. For their's is already a hard lot. She also said to tell you that she would love you for all of eternity…" SoTN (JP): "Do not blame humans. She said that those unable to forgive mankind will walk the path of their own destruction. Those who do not belong to that world shouldn't do anything... And Father... she said that she will love you forever." NFCV: "Don't hurt them! They don't understand! I know it's not your fault, but... if you can hear... they don't know what they're doing. Be better than them. Please!"
Lisa in the game holds no ill will towards humans. She urges Alucard not to resent them, and understand that their lives are already difficult. She even attempts to find a compromise for ease of his mind: if he truly can't forgive, may he at least leave them alone. In Japanese, she emphasizes that hating humans will only be detrimental, a somber foreshadowing of Dracula's downfall. And finally, she parts with a last thought to her husband, a soft declaration of love. The tragedy here is that Alucard kept Lisa's words dear to his heart, but he could not tell them to Dracula, who instead used Lisa's memory as a weapon to wage war on mankind. By the time Alucard reveals Lisa's final wish, three hundred years later, it's too late.
Lisa in the show doesn't sound the same. Not only she ignores her son completely, but her focus seems to wanting to appease Dracula, who might or might not be hearing her, it's ambiguous. She quotes Jesus speaking to God, but she sounds more like an abused wife scared of her abusive husband's rage, a sentiment echoed in S2. She also puts emphasis on how "it's not his fault", as if to absolve Dracula of the responsibility of his reaction, and that Dracula should be "better than them", implying that she thinks lowly of them and wants Dracula to be superior. Not exactly compassionate.
Why does it matter? 1: the show had a chance to flesh out Lisa and Alucard's relationship as mother and son, and it squanders it to further emphasize Lisa's already established attachment to Dracula. Not only it cheapens Alucard's attachment to the mother he fights his father for (he, bafflingly, even says "Then find the one who did the deed", which misses the entire point of his character), this becomes much worse by the time of the finale, as I describe below.
Why does it matter? 2: Lisa, once again, loses sympathy points. The inherent hypocrisy of Dracula disrespecting Lisa's memory is never breached in the show, which prefers to focus on his shortsightedness, but Lisa's wish herself is not as purehearted in the show. In fact, as I said, her relationship with Dracula sounds quite unhealthy now, which of course never gets acknowledged.
Dracula hired Hector and Isaac shortly after Lisa was killed.
There are so many changes brought to the lore of the Devil Forgemasters that they deserve their own post. Each change only causes more logical problems in the show's plot, and it makes the villain story in Season 2 fall apart.
In the prequels, both Devil Forgemasters went to knock on Dracula's door on their own volition, to study the dark arts and live in a place that would accept them. In the show, it's the other way around: after Lisa urges him to travel around the world, Dracula accidentally finds both of them, one in Rhodes and the other in the Sahara, and then he looks for them again once he needs them. This is not the most important change, though, as what matters is that Hector and Isaac are loyal to Dracula for being the only person kind to them, and in all fairness the trait is kept. What matters is how this affects Hector.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This line implies that Hector was left blindsided by Dracula's decision of exterminating mankind. This was not what he signed for! Hector never, ever wanted to harm humans, and he was so disgusted by his Lord's actions that he preferred to leave. In the show, Dracula already presents him with the idea of "stopping" humans: he means genocide, but Hector proposes that they be turned into livestock for vampires, and accepts to help him as long as there's no needless suffering.
Why does it matter? Hector started off with all the building blocks to go through a similar character arc he goes through in the CoD prequels, but he's turned into a less sympathetic character, as he was on board with turning humans into cattle from the get go. An anti-villain who'd enslave his own kind out of a misguided sense of mercy needs a carefully woven narrative to justify, and possibly redeem. We all know what happened to him.
To be fair, the story wasting Hector is not the fault of the lore changes, so there's no point in elaborating here. I will mention, however, that some fans genuinely believe Hector deserved to be enslaved and raped precisely because of his original plan, which makes the narrative even grosser.
Why does it matter? 2: Dracula lying to Hector to gain his help because "he's a child in a man's body" and thus "he's easy to lie to" devalues Hector, his intelligence (most obvious in his scenes with Lenore, where it's clear that he didn't think too deeply about Dracula's plans and she takes advantage of that weakness), and even Dracula himself who apparently doesn't trust the man enough with his real plans, but trusts him enough with the role of a General of his army... even as he's shouting in the war room that he doesn't enjoy paddling in the blood of innocents. It's never made clear why would Dracula even keep Hector around in the show when Isaac is presented as much stronger and smarter overall, while in the prequels, Dracula respected and trusted both (but favored Hector). Even worse, Season 3 confirms that Dracula did not invent the art of Devil Forging, but it's a type of highly advanced magic that nevertheless is fairly well known in certain circles - so then why did Dracula go out of his way to hire someone who didn't even fully agree with his plan, when there are other Forgemasters around who might be just as fanatical as Isaac?
(the reason might be in the stats sheets that came out with Season 2, that implied that Hector and Isaac were meant to be both physically weak, with the former slightly stronger and more powerful in "necromancing" than the latter. Clearly, something was changed during production to make Isaac the hypercompetent one and Hector the ineffectual one, but this part of the plot would have only worked if Hector was deemed absolutely vital to Dracula's plan)
Why does it matter? 3: Hector and Isaac only worked under Dracula for a year, and they're already called Generals. In the prequels, it's implied they spent years studying under him and gaining experience, both in the alchemy lab and in the battlefield, which is why they're called Generals in the first place (unlike the show version, who allegedly aren't even physical fighters). While Dracula explains that he trusts them due to being humans willing to exterminate other humans, it's questionable that Dracula would trust their qualifications so much; this is made even worse by the fact that Hector was "hired" thanks to a lie. When all three of them fall for Carmilla's plan, I struggle to sympathize with them, so I chalk this up to a worldbuilding and storyline failure.
Addendum: the show makes a frequent point, through Carmilla and Lenore and the Captain, that Dracula might have planned to kill Hector and Isaac together with all the humans: Isaac accepted this fate, Hector could be manipulated at the other vampires' leisure. It also paints Hector as even more of an idiot for not wanting a reward for his work, which gives even more leverage to Lenore. The mangas actually give a much more understandable reason for both points, tied with what above. I'm not making this an entire section because the result is the same: by changing the lore, Dracula comes off as more insane and hypocritical than he is, Hector comes off as profoundly stupid, and even Isaac's relationship with Dracula is now contradictory.
Dracula never became the Dark Lord.
When Elisabetha died. Mathias became a vampire through the Crimson Stone. When Lisa died, Dracula made a pact with Chaos/The Evil God to become the Dark Lord, the Avatar of Chaos on Earth. This makes Dracula far more than a vampire, and something closer to Satan, a truly terrifying figure. His penchant for cursing and possessing also proves this. Dracula, through his own actions, became the incarnation of evil.
Needless to say, Chaos isn't even hinted at in the show.
Why does it matter?: despite his posturing, Dracula is nothing special. He is in theory respected by other vampires for being the oldest and most knowledgeable one, but even that is not true, as the first thing Carmilla does is disrespect him in front of his whole court. His abilities also pale compare to what he can do in the games - while he showcases his iconic Hellfire, he doesn't even turn into his monster form!
Death is not Dracula's loyal confidant.
In the games, Death is a creature born from Chaos, and bound to serve the wielder of the Crimson Stone. Mathias was able to get his help to complete his transformation into a vampire, and since then, Death has stuck with the Dark Lord through thick and thin. Not only he's often responsible for Dracula's resurrection through the centuries, but he's pretty much described as the closest thing the vampire has to a confidant and friend.
No Crimson Stone = no Death. The role of confidant is taken by Isaac, strangely enough, with a Dracula being seriously concerned about their friendship (and this only highlights how differently Isaac and Hector are treated).
Tumblr media
Death doesn't appear until Season 4, and he has a completely different role: he's the man behind the scenes who wants to revive Dracula, which so far is canon compliant... but he wants to use Dracula by giving him a fate worse than death, in the hopes of driving him insane and pushing him to kill as many people as possible, again. Dracula is nothing but a tool to Death, who is described as being a different type of vampiric creature.
Why does it matter?: it's yet another way Dracula is weakened and disrespected by the narrative. Constantly presenting new semi-original villains and having them insulting the main antagonist of the franchise or playing them as pawns is just tasteless.
Dracula and Lisa are brought back to life in the finale.
Death does manage to accomplish part of his plan: with St. Germain's help, he calls back Dracula's and Lisa's souls from Hell to be fused into a Rebis. After Trevor destroys Death, the two return to normal. Happy to be once again together, they decide to spend the rest of their lives together travelling around the world like they were set to do, leaving Alucard alone.
Why does it matter?: it completely shatters the whole point of the cycle of death and rebirth Dracula and the Belmonts are stuck under. Dracula in the games is brought back into the human world by mankind's evil and desires, forced by Chaos to be its avatar and a harbinger of evil. It's implied that even he grew tired of it all, which is why being reincarnated into Soma is a chance of a new start for him. By having Lisa to his side again, Dracula has no reason to hate mankind anymore. Since Chaos doesn't exist in the show, Dracula is completely free, and the year he spent planning mass extermination and suicide is quickly brushed off. We are left questioning what exactly Dracula will do now with his new life, and what he will do after Lisa's natural death.
As of Season 1 of Nocturne, he seems to have faded into obscurity: the first of the two times he is mentioned (the second time from Alucard introducing himself), it's from Juste, in a line like this:
"Whatever it is, evil. And it's everywhere. It will always be stronger than us. And you can kill this or that devil. A Lord Ruthven, a Dracula, maybe even an Olrox. But there'll always be more, more and worse."
Put in the middle as if he were a random vampire, implicitly listed as less impressive than Olrox. And to add insult to injury, Annette, who somehow knew all about Forgemasters, has no idea who he is.
In short, Castlevania, the series named after Dracula's own castle and domain, barely has Dracula as its villain, and in the short screentime he had he was blatantly disrespected.
But he's far from being the only one.
The Belmonts are incredibly nerfed.
To recap. The Belmonts are a generic clan of vampire hunters, for which Dracula is just another vampire. The two have no connection. The Vampire Killer is nowhere near as impressive as its game counterpart, regardless of the flashy animation of the fight. During the fight with Dracula, not even the Morning Star could scratch him. Dracula recognizes Trevor as a Belmont because he attempts to punch him in the face, to no avail. It's implied that, before Trevor, his ancestors went to fight Dracula. And failed. Possibly died.
The Belmonts... don't come off as being particularly heroic.
And this leads to the biggest sin: Trevor couldn't kill Dracula.
I repeat: Trevor Belmont was not the one who killed Dracula. And a weaker version to boot. He dies because he has an emotional breakdown at the sight of Alucard's childhood room, realizing too late that he's "killing his boy", and it's "his boy" who stakes him through the heart.
So much for him being the Legendary Belmont in the games, right?
Why does it matter?: The narrative feels somewhat disdainful of the protagonists of the whole franchise, let alone its own.
Alucard being Dracula's effective killer is the result of Season 2 focusing mostly on their strained father/son relationship, which has its place to be sure, but it's as if the writers copypasted the emotional climax of Symphony of the Night in what is supposed to be an adaptation of Dracula's Curse.
Generally speaking, Trevor gets the shaft in his own story. He did kill Death, the final villain of the show, but Death hardly matters in the grand scheme of things compared to Dracula. The narrative's focus was spread through too many plotlines, and clearly favored Alucard and Isaac (and Hector's plotline, but not for him). Trevor and Sypha, stuck to playing hero in random villages in Season 3 and 4, are by far the most wasted protagonists of the bunch.
The writers seem to have grown bored with the main protagonist, because other characters became more popular. It's amateurish, and once again, disrespectful to the source material: yes, not all games have a Belmont as the protagonist and sometimes they use some flimsy excuses to push them to the sides, but at least they accomplish stuff.
And this leads to...
Richter in Nocturne has lost the entire point of himself.
Tumblr media
Richter Belmont is famous for being the turning point in the Belmont clan. While, chronologically, Juste already grappled with his own fate, Richter is the one who completely falls apart because of his legacy. For 300 years, his ancestors were born, raised and died knowing that some of them will have to destroy Dracula. Richter wrapped his identity around being a Belmont, and being tasked with killing Dracula, which he did eagerly... so when he did, he suddenly realized he had nothing to live for. He wanted to keep fighting for eternity, to give a purpose to himself. And that's how Shaft got to him. And Richter was so distraught for the shame he has brought upon the name of his clan, that he gave the VK to the Morris clan, who kept it until 1999.
Nothing of this could be kept in Nocturne, because no Belmont has ever killed Dracula, and there is no reason to even kill him anymore after he stopped hating mankind. Richter is still proud of his heritage, but he describes it as a generic "killing vampires": as of Season 1 of Nocturne, the main source of pain for him is the death of his mother at the hands of Olrox, a very different and IMO much more cliché tragic backstory.
Why does it matter?: between this, Trevor being a glorified prop, and Juste being reduced to a depressed cynical mentor, plus the OC Julia getting killed in an uncerimonious way to fuel Richter's angst, there is a sad pattern of the show almost resenting the Belmont clan as a whole. What is the point of adapting Richter's story, if his story simply cannot happen?
Richter thought Alucard was just a myth.
In SoTN, Richter immediately recognizes Alucard as the one who helped his ancestor Trevor. The implication is that the knowledge of Trevor's feats had been passed down, and survived for 300 years. Apparently, no such thing happened in Nocturne.
Why does it matter?: since Trevor did absolutely nothing of importance in the show, Richter's knowledge of his own clan lore is cheapened. This affects once again his supposed arc, confirmed by Sam Deats, of living up to his family legacy - what legacy?
And still they aren't the only ones affected!
Alucard doesn't hate his vampiric heritage.
In the games, Alucard's biggest internal struggle is about his dual nature. Both a vampire and a human, son of his father who wants to destroy mankind and son of his mother who asked him to cause no harm to them. The turmoil is so great that Alucard chooses to seal himself in a coffin twice over, in 1476 and in 1797: he explicitly does so because he feels tremendous guilt over having killed his father, and to protect the world from his "cursed" blood, as there is the chance that, if he dies, he will become a full-fledged vampire.
Absolutely nothing of this is kept in the show. Alucard reluctantly kills Dracula and is shown weeping about it, but he's fiercely, and weirdly, protective of vampires. This is shown in S2, where the reason he spends the entire time insulting Trevor and his lineage with cruel, callous and frankly xenophobic remarks is that they kept "a museum dedicated to the extermination of my people".
Furthermore, he never goes to sleep. The entirety of his story in S3 is caused by him going insane for the isolation over a month because Trevor and Sypha decided to travel alone, while Alucard guarded the castle and the Belmont Hold; in Nocturne, Alucard mentions that he spent the last 300 years slaying vampires (I suppose he changed his mind in the meantime).
Why does it matter? At its core, this is the show's attempt to make the vampires look more sympathetic, painting them as a noble race who don't deserve to be systematically killed (accidentally drawing unfortunate parallels with real life ethnicities). By default, it paints the Belmonts as morally grey, at best, hunters who kill innocent creatures like "children" and gruesomely display the remains.
Incidentally, while the objective was to make the vampires look more pitiable, the real consequence is that Alucard looks like a grand bastard, hating Trevor for doing his job and siding with bloodsucking monsters for reasons that are not elaborated upon. You'd think this would effect his relationship with Dracula, but it never comes up.
(Nocturne also comes off as even more disconnected to the original series now, as it reverts back to the notion that vampires are nothing more than shallow monsters to be killed without remorse)
Why does it matter? 2: a smaller consequence of Alucard never sealing himself in his coffin is that Trevor and Sypha come off as very insensitive friends for abandoning him right when he needed the most support. In Dracula's Curse, he choose to separate himself from them. This cheapens their supposed friendship even more.
But as for Alucard being awake for 300 years, we don't know enough to say how this has affected him. We'll see in S2.
And there you have it. Richter can't be Richter and Nocturne has to revolve around the French Revolution, because Lament of Innocence didn't happen in the show. And because the writers did not understand the source material and all the decisions that had been taken.

Francis Drake Main Story
This is a rough translation. I’ll edit this if I find the time. Expect mistakes.
Tumblr media
Would it be a betrayal to carry on this love?
Like the shore of a calm sea, it clung to my heart and shattered my feelings like a raging storm.
(I...)
I tightly grasped the fate entrusted to my hands.
Tumblr media
With a snap, colorful fireworks burst against the clear blue sky.
Mitsuki: "Wow! Even the fireworks in the daytime are beautiful."
Tumblr media
Napoleon: "Yeah. The weather's good, and there's a lively crowd here again today."
Petals were dancing in the air, and everyone was smiling and having a good time as the mansion's residents visited the venue of the World Expo in Paris.
Leonardo: "Some acquaintances of mine have mentioned that there are people similar to us who have visited multiple times."
Napoleon: "Makes sense. There's so much to see that visiting only once wouldn't do it justice."
Arthur: "Mitsuki, how about coming here alone with me next time? You know, like a date?"
Mitsuki: "Hmm, I'm flattered by the invitation, but I'll think about it."
Theo: "It seems that frivolous writers only focus on flirting when they come to a place like this."
Theo: "Broer, let's take some time to admire the paintings. Hmm? Broer, where are you?"
Tumblr media
Vincent: "Theo, over here! Let's try riding the moving walkway!"
(Hehe, it's rare for everyone to go out together. They all seem excited.)
(Hmm?)
I smiled and suddenly saw a couple wearing kimonos pass by me.
(Japan, huh?)
I felt a sense of nostalgia and remembered when I first arrived in this era.
I traveled from Japan to France for a vacation in the 21st century.
During this trip, I slipped through a mysterious door I found at the Louvre Museum and time-slipped to 19th-century Paris, where I met historical figures from different countries and eras who live as vampires at a mansion I arrived at.
Napoleon: "Hey, Mitsuki. Is something wrong?"
Mitsuki: "Sorry, I was just spacing out."
Napoleon: "Geez, you're supposed to enjoy yourself today. If you just sit there, we'll leave you behind."
Mitsuki: "Wait, Napoleon!"
I smiled and hurriedly chased after Napoleon, who laughed wickedly, leaving behind a nostalgic feeling that touched my heart.
A few days later一
Mitsuki: "I'm back! Huh?"
Tumblr media
Charles: "Welcome back, Mitsuki! Do you want to take a bath? Eat something? Or me? It's me, right?"
Faust: "Stop being so shameless, Charles."
Among the faces that greeted me when I returned from shopping were Faust and Charles.
They live in an old castle and would occasionally visit like this.
Mitsuki: "Welcome, both of you. What brings you here today?"
Faust: "We accompanied Lord Vlad for some business. I thought I'd also give the butler some medicine."
Sebastian: "Thank you as always, Faust."
At one point, Sebastian fell ill, and Faust prescribed him a special medicine.
Since then, Faust has occasionally checked on his condition, and Sebastian no longer complains of discomfort.
(He said he was just the right test subject for the new drug, but I'm glad Sebastian is feeling better.)
Charles: "I have a souvenir for you, Dazai. The teacher at the orphanage wants you to create a children's story."
Dazai: "Oh dear, I thought you were going to give me some delicious sweets, but it's about work."
Tumblr media
Isaac: "Shouldn't you be grateful? Even a flaky person like you can at least be somewhat useful."
Dazai and Charles seemed to run into each other often in town and had become quite friendly.
I even sometimes saw Isaac getting caught up in their shenanigans.
Jean: "I thought it was noisy, but I didn't realize you guys were here."
Mozart: "*sigh* Has this mansion become a gathering place for vampires?"
Shakespeare: "*chuckles* The number of residents and visitors has increased so much. It's completely different from when I lived here."
Jean, Mozart, and Shakespeare came to the dining room.
Mitsuki: "I didn't know you were here, too, Shakespeare. By the way, I heard you have a new play."
Shakespeare: "I'm honored that you remembered. I came here to deliver the tickets."
Shakespeare: "My business here is done. Mitsuki, Vlad, and Comte are asking for you."
Shakespeare: "They have something they want to talk about."
(Talk?)
Tumblr media
In the dark, quiet hallway lined with paintings, sculptures, and various antiques from different countries and eras, the sound of footsteps echoed.
The man making those footsteps lightly stroked the handle of the knife hanging at his waist with his fingertips and grinned.
Tumblr media
Mitsuki: "Phew. The night breeze feels good."
I stepped out onto the balcony and enjoyed the coolness of the air that soothed my slightly flushed skin after having some alcohol.
Tumblr media
The impromptu dinner party that was hastily organized because everyone had gathered together ended when Faust and Charles took Vlad, who had drunk too much wine and collapsed, home.
(Another fun day, thanks to everyone being here.)
As I thought this, I remembered what Comte and Vlad had told me earlier.
------------Flashback------------
Comte: "I've been checking the status of that door, but the other side is still not stable."
Vlad: "The door at my old castle is the same."
Comte: “The hallway appears as it cycles between abnormal and normal, but sometimes the time and space beyond it are distorted. I don't think I can send you back to your original world.”
Vlad: "I'm sorry, Mitsuki. The cause of the anomaly might be us."
Mitsuki: "What do you mean?"
Tumblr media
Vlad: "That hallway connects to various eras. The fact that the space is distorted means that distortions are occurring in history and the world."
Their love for this world drove them to revive eternal flowers and transform historical figures into vampires, contradicting the laws of the world.
They explained that this action might be influencing the proper course of history, resulting in a warping of time and space.
Mitsuki: “No, I’m grateful that you’re investigating. But isn’t there danger involved in checking the door?”
Mitsuki: “Please don’t push yourself too hard. It’d hurt me if something were to happen to the two of you.”
Vlad: “Mitsuki.”
(Also...)
Mitsuki: “As I met everyone and spent all those precious days with them, I began to feel like this 19th century is another place I belong.”
Mitsuki: “Even if I can’t return to the 21st century, I think living here might be my destiny.”
(So please don’t worry about me.)
Tumblr media
I conveyed this, and both Comte and Vlad nodded as if they understood my feelings.
---------Flashback Ends---------
(I really mean what I said back then.)
(Staying in this world is also one way of living for me.)
I’m fortunate to have food, shelter, and clothing, all thanks to the help of everyone in the mansion. But even considering that gratitude, everyone I’ve met has become incredibly important to me.
(I love this world. It’s a precious place for me, but...)
My feet were naturally heading towards that door.
(The world I used to live in is beyond that door.)
Thoughts of family, friends, and work that had become distant crossed my mind, and a hazy mist spread across my chest.
(If the door’s anomaly doesn’t get fixed, I have no other choice but to choose to live here.)
Tumblr media
I do feel that way, but I don’t think it’s right to choose to live here just because there’s no other choice.
(If I keep having these negative thoughts, everyone will worry again.)
I shook my head to dispel the negative thoughts and turned my back to the door.
At that moment, I heard a creaking sound from behind.
(Huh?)
I turned around, and the door, which no one had touched, slowly opened before me.
Mitsuki: “Kyaah!?”
Then something flew out of the gap.
(Was that a bird just now!?)
Although I couldn’t see it clearly, a vivid red bird crossed my field of vision.
I followed it with my eyes, but suddenly my body was forcefully pulled back, and something cold touched my neck.
It was a dull, gleaming knife.
Tumblr media
(---!?)
???: “The woman of destiny.”
I heard a whisper up close and felt a hand grab me, along with the presence of someone behind me.
Tumblr media
Fear swelled within me at this sudden situation, and I turned around cautiously to meet the gaze of clear aquamarine eyes.
???: “Don’t move. This thing can cut through anything.”
???: “I’m not going to take anything away from you. Where is this place, and who are you?”
Mitsuki: “This is a mansion in 19th-century Paris. I’m Mitsuki, one of the residents.”
Mitsuki: “Who are you?”
I spoke the words in a trembling voice, and the man restraining me stared at me with unreadable eyes.
Tumblr media
Drake: "I'm Francis. Francis Drake."
(Francis?)
Even though I heard the name, I had no idea who he was, so I continued to tense up.
Suddenly, the man let out a sigh, easing the tension.
Drake: "You've been trembling this whole time. Well, given the situation, I guess that's understandable."
Drake: "I suddenly ended up in a place like this, so I'm also confused as hell."
Drake: "Don't be too scared, little fawn."
For some reason, he called me that and grinned mischievously.

Isaac Smith to John Adams, 3 September 1771
The public affairs of France are infinitely more embarrass’d than those of England. The former boasts of having a greater variety of ressources at command than the latter. Poverty however covers the face both of the public, and of individuals. The wretched state of its finances at present is a great security to our tranquillity. A prime minister exiled—another substituted in his room, the object of public odium—parliaments one after the other dissolved and banished—and the princes of the blood (one only excepted) thrown into disgrace! If an instance of illegal violence adopted against a single member of the british parliament could raise such a clamour here, what would proceedings of such a nature occasion? A rod hung over the heads of the people in that kingdom, tho’ it cannot suppress their murmurs, yet is sufficient to prevent them from carrying their complaints into action. To so sensible a nation as the french, it must be a most mortifying circumstance, that the revolutions of their government are often dependent on the amours of their monarch. This is notorious in the late change of their administration. The history of the present Sultana of their Court [Madame du Barry] is curious. It seems that she is the natural daughter of a monk, and was a domestic in a family at Paris. A particular nobleman is struck with her beauty. As he had either already formed such a connection, or was afraid of degrading his dignity too far, he persuades his brother to marry her. In course of time, to serve the political purposes of a family, she is recommended to the King, who is particularly fond of bestowing his caresses on a married lady. To make herself appear in the more respectable light at Court, she claims an affinity with an ancient family of Ireland, the present possessor of whose title, Lord Barrymore, a nobleman equally distinguished for his conjugal fidelity in London, as Madame la Comtesse de Barre for her unspotted virtue in Paris, is so very condescending as to own the relation; and she is now treated with as much respect, as if she owed her connection with the monarch to birth instead of fortune. I had not an opportunity, tho I spent a day at the Palace of Versailles, of admiring the charms of this celebrated Lady.
