Kooks and Pogues.
Always one against the other.
Thatâs how itâs always been in the Outer Banks. If youâre a Kook, you cannot like a Pogue, and it goes both ways.
It is a rule as old as the island, one that never changed and never will. It would be a scandal if it did, right?
You were never one to have cared about something as stupid and superficial as that. Although considered Kook princess â that was the nickname that everyone had gifted you since birth â you also appreciated the company and friendship of those who shouldâve been your greatest enemies.
It didnât help the fact that you were in love with one of them, either.
JJ Maybank was as local as they came. Never had anything to his name, unless we count the remaining five dollars in his old wallet, and always on the run â from what? Perhaps it is better that we donât ask him that.
We could put it this way: if you were Kook princess, he couldâve easily been Pogue prince.
It shouldâve been unusual for the two of you to have ever even had a conversation, let alone one long enough to have made the both of you fall in love. The thing was that you had no problem in talking with him, and he had no reason, nor enough self control, to not have flirted with you any time heâd had the chance.
All of the time you had been spending with JJ and his friends, getting acquainted with them and sharing those whispered secrets that only those whom you trust the most know about, it had all led you to that moment â lying in your loverâs arms.
Your back rested against his bare chest as your bodies were being soaked by the warm rays of sun and lulled by the gentle movement of the waves that were dancing underneath you. JJâs arms circled your waist with greed and affection, for he could have never gone a day without feeling your skin beneath his loving touch, and his head was hidden in the crook of your neck â the place where he belonged.
âWanna stay like this forever,â he mumbled in your skin, tickling it in the process, âFeels like heaven.â
You hummed in content, âMe, too.â
The pair of you had been stuck in your place all morning, just letting the waves and JJâs surfboard take you wherever they wanted to and hoping it was as far away as possible. You hated that your relationship had to be kept as a dirty secret that no one was supposed to know about, but what were you expected to do but ignore your elders, and most of your peers, and let your heart beat for the only man that owned it. It is impossible to control oneâs heartâs reason to beat, and one as big as yours was even more untamed than others.
Sneaking away was fun for sure, but you wished to scream it from the rooftops. JJ was no different from you, and he wouldâve made you officially his if it hadnât been for the judgmental creeps and the fear of your parents taking you away from him.
And so, with the uneasy knowledge of being unaware of the next time that your heart would beat against his, he walked you home that early morning. The sound of the birds chirping was peaceful and rendered the journey more bearable â although it was your smile that had made everything so much more than only bearable to JJ.
You couldnât have known that someone was watching you as your boyfriend led you to the rich side of the island, that was Figure Eight, waiting, almost wishing, for you to make a mistake.
âIâll see you tonight, princess?â He whispered on your lips as your bodies were being hidden by the large oak tree just a few blocks before your house.
You grinned up at him and nodded, brushing your mouth against his as you did so. âSee you tonight, baby.â
â
You didnât like lying to your parents. Having to make up excuses whenever you wanted to go out wasnât fun, but a dutiful daughter, the Kook princess, couldnât have been seen hanging out with people that belonged to a lower class than her. What your parents didnât know couldnât have hurt them.
Therefore, you began getting ready to see your Pogue prince that evening, knowing that your parents believed that you were going to a friendâs house. Just as you were finish buttoning your dress, JJâs favorite, you heard your father come back home, slamming the front door of your house with anger and impatience. It was unusual, which was why your brows automatically furrowed at the loud sound, that it was then followed by his voice, yelling your name.
You all but ran down the stairs, attempting at understanding the commotion, but it seemed that your mother had already gotten the news that your dad hadnât told you yet. He looked at you as if you had been his greatest disappointment.
âWhatâs going on?â You asked, scared of even letting out those words.
Your father stated at you for a second before he finally confessed the reason of his obvious fury. âHow could you have done this to me? How could you have done this to your family?â He raised his voice, and you had never felt smaller than you had in that moment.
âI - I donât understand.â
âDo you have any idea how embarrassing it was for me, huh? Everyone pitied me! And then, it was Ward Cameron that had to tell me that my daughter was hanging out with someâŠPogues.â
Shit.
Shit.
Shit.
He knew. They knew everything.
âWe raised you better than this!â Your father all but yelled as his forefinger pointed at you, and you were sure he was wishing to have had a knife at the end of it.
Tears began running down your face as you attempted at walking closer to him. âBut dad, I love him!â
He scoffed â mocking you and your choice of words. âI donât care if you think heâs the love of your life, heâs not! He cannot provide for you and heâs not the man that I want my daughter to be seen with.â
You turned to your mother, hoping and praying to find consolation and understanding in her. âMom, say something, please!â
Shaking her head, she only laid her eyes on you to show you the dissatisfied look in them. âI canât, honey. Your father is right. That boy is only trouble and you deserve betterâŠmore.â Although seeming sad, she rejoiced and a glad appearance casted on her as she continued, âThatâs why weâre going out to dinner with the Thorntonâs tonight. Their son is a fine man, youâd be a very lucky girl.â
To say the world was crumbling all around you was an understatement.
More.
What was âmoreâ? You deserved more than someone who loved you and cared for you as if you hung every star in the universe? You needed more than a man who wouldâve laid down his life for you?
At that point, you were unable to control the never ending tears. âYouâre serious?! Iâm not going out with anyone, you canât force me!â You raised your voice as well, as you couldnât believe that they thought it wouldâve been possible for your heart to beat for someone else.
Without ever taking another glance at you, âMy house, my rules,â your father exclaimed, his words tasting like venom when he announced his last words on the matter, âYouâre not to see him ever again. That is final.â
Devastation was all you knew. How could they have taken him away from you? The only good thing in your life, the only person that made you feel like you were real, alive, like you could be whoever you wanted to be, and now, he had been brutally stolen from your fingertips, slipping through them without control.
That was your life after all â a continuous scroll of events that you had no say in nor any control, always under the rules of society and your parents. They had simply made the ultimate decision of stealing your last crumble of freedom.
As much as you wanted to hear JJâs voice, you couldnât call him. It wouldâve been cruel to the both of you to admit those last words out loud. Instead, you texted him to warn him that your parents knew about the two of you and that you couldnât go out with him that evening â cowardly avoiding him.
And so, you wore the dress that was supposed to be for him and the natural-looking makeup that you knew he was obsessed with, and let your parents manipulate your life once again.
â
âThis is a darling restaurant. Thank you for inviting us tonight.â Mr. Thornton formally announced as you, your parents and the Thorntonâs sat down at your reserved table.
Perhaps you were being too dramatic, but you felt like you were sitting down for your last supper â you were being sent to the gallows and your parents had been the culprits.
Topper Thornton relaxed in his seat right next to yours, a smug smile on his face while he listened to the two married couples talk about arguments that were as interesting as the weather. In the meantime, your silence was loud. You were screaming at the bars of the cage you that they had trapped you in, praying for someone to come rescue you and help you escape.
Then, you heard Mr Thornton call your name, which caused you to look at him.
âWeâve heard the stories about those Pogues, you know.â And you didnât miss the judging stare in his eyes as you attempted at stopping yours from rolling in the back in your head in annoyance. âItâs good that youâve come to your senses, young lady. We all want whatâs best for you.â
It was hard to keep your laughter in almost as much as it was to not show your disapproval. âRight,â you whispered under your breath as you looked over the menu in your hands as if it had been the most beautiful thing in the world, âWhatâs best for me.â
Your mother hissed your name in order for you to have been the only person to hear her, âPlay nice.â
âIâm just saying,â he continued, âIt would be a shame to disgrace your good name, and for someone like those low-lifers.â He chuckled at his last words as you wondered how many stabs it wouldâve taken your knife to make him shut his mouth.
You landed on three.
And just as you were about to respond with another quick remark, you heard his voice. You swore your eyes were about to pop out of your head and your smile had been impossible to stop when he had said, âGood evening. Iâll be your waiter tonight. Are you ready to order yet?â
The JJ Maybank cocky grin stared at you and you couldnât help but feel a warmth inside you that only the calming ocean in his eyes was able to provide.
You werenât sure if anyone at the table knew that he was the one that you had been seen with, but from the way no one batted an eye, you realized that they had no idea â after all, Pogues all looked the same to them, so how could they have known it was that particular one that had stolen your heart? (other than multiple of other things, but thatâs another story.)
Once everyone had ordered, JJ left, although he never took his eyes off of you â or maybe what he couldnât stop staring at was the closeness between you and Topper.
âI will admit that theyâre not all bad.â Mrs. Thornton admitted, which gained everyoneâs curiosity, âThese Pogues, I mean. Some of them try to work their way up. Nonetheless, I donât think itâs right for them to ruin the reputation of someone who comes from such a good family.â
You couldnât believe that they were still talking about it â as if it wasnât a Pogue who was handling their food in that very moment. The twitching of your eye was hopefully undetectable as the conversation went on and on, getting worse by the second.
âTheyâre known thieves, for sure.â
âMost of them have never attended school, either.â
âThey ruin this islandâs credibility.â
All of the alcohol that you had ingested that evening hadnât been enough for you to stop yourself from abruptly getting up from your seat and earning a few looks from the tables around you as the loud sound of your chair on the expensive pavement of the restaurant filled the air.
âWhat are you doing? Sit down!â Your father whispered sternly, an embarrassed expression on his features while he looked around.
âI - I have to go to the restroom.â Finally you shakily exclaimed before all but running to the nearest bathroom, just dreaming about some fresh air. It felt like torture to stand there and listen to them talk about your friends â your boyfriend, for godâs sake â as if they had been the worst people on the planet.
As you quickly walked to what you hoped to have been a restroom, you felt a hand wrapping around your arm and dragging you through another door, which immediately led you to the back of the restaurant. A tiny scream escaped from your lips in surprise, but it was stopped by the weight of a hand.
âIâm sorry, princess, itâs just me.â JJ chuckled as he closed the door behind you and let you rest your back on it.
âJay,â you breathed, and it felt like the first time you had been able to do that that evening, âwhat are you doing?â
Letting his hands dance down your torso until his arms circled your waist, he bent his head down to meet yours. âItâs killing me to see you with him, you know that?â He lowered his voice, which sounded deeper and richer than usual, and it caused butterflies to come alive in your stomach.
You placed your hand on his cheek, rubbing the rough skin with your thumb and pulling him impossibly closer. âMy parents are forcing me,â you sighed, âThey just keep going on and on about Pogues and I canât listen to them anymore.â And as you noticed the strange look in his eyes, the obvious hesitation in them, you added, âYou know I donât care about him, right?â
He smiled and gently brushed the tip of his nose against yours as he breathed you in. âI hate this, baby. I wish I could be there with you instead of him.â
âMe, too.â
âAnd he better keep those hands to himself.â
You chuckled lightly at his words, âIâll make sure of it.â
âGood.â
JJ noticed the tears that started to prick at your eyes immediately and his hands flew to your face, holding the soft skin and forcing you to stare into his honest eyes. âHey, hey. This doesnât mean we have to break up, alright? Weâll figure it out, princess, we always do, okay?â You only got to nod once at his words before his lips touched yours, slowly and passionately while his arms held you closely to his body. âI love you.â He mumbled on your mouth.
âI love you, too, Jay.â
â
âWhat took you so long?â Your mother asked as you came back to the table, your hair now out of place â not that you cared about it anymore.
âJust needed to get some air.â You wore your best fake smile and drank your glass of wine in one sip before pouring yourself another one. âHave we finally changed the subject?â
Your dad reprimanded you by saying your name, a threatening tone hiding behind it.
You shrugged, âWhat? You can all speak poorly of Pogues as if I werenât here but I canât say anything about it? Thought this was a free country.â
Mr. Thornton looked like he was having a stroke and his wife was none the better. âYou should be more grateful about what you have, young lady.â
You snorted, more loudly than you wanted to, but you had seemed to have lost all inhibitions. âYou know what, Mr. Thornton? Iâve always been grateful. Iâve always been the perfect, dutiful daughter, and my parents still donât trust me, so whatâs the point, right?â You could feel everyoneâs eyes on you, and sure that you were causing a scene, you decided to finish off the show. âSo what if my boyfriendâs a Pogue? Why should everyone care about that?â
Just like all of the waiters, JJ was watching the scene, and although he loved how you were defending him, he decided it was the right time to rescue you. He all but ran to you, clapping his hands a couple of times to get everyoneâs attention.
âAlright, folks. Showâs over.â He announced as he approached your table.
âYou have to calm down and sit back down.â Your mom told you while placing a hand in front of her face in order to hide her embarrassment.
âAnd you want to know whatâs funny? Youâve been shit talking about my boyfriend all night and he was our waiter all along.â You drunkly laughed while JJ tried to keep you upright.
âWay to keep it a secret, babe.â He whispered, although a mischievous smile adorned his lips.
This time it was your father who got up from his seat, pointing a finger at the man whose arm was the only reason why you were still standing. âYouâŠYouâre the Pogue who brainwashed my daughter!â
âHe did what?!â You let out another laugh, but the look on your face said everything anyway.
âWith all due respect, sir ââ
âStay away from my daughter! And donât talk to me.â He interrupted JJ, catching him off guard.
âYouâre so scared of what this relationship might lead to, but you know what? Iâm already having his baby.â You didnât miss the way everyone stared at you shockingly, and even though you wanted to keep it up, you couldnât help but retract it immediately, âNo, Iâm not, but you should see your faces!â
âNow we really should leave.â JJ admitted, grinning at you. He grabbed your glass and took a sip of it, at which you laughed loudly once again.
âThank you for the lovely evening, Mr. and Mrs. Thornton. You two are unbearable.â
âYep, lovely evening and everything.â He yelled as you two ran towards the exit.
âCome back here right now!â
Your heart beat rapidly as JJ hopped on his bike and waited for you to do the same, the sound of the vehicle revving making you all the more excited. Your arms held on tighter to him and you swore you could hear his heart beating faster as well.
âYou ready, baby?â
âFloor it, Jay.â
And you wouldâve paid all of the Kook money in the world to have seen their faces as the Kook princess drove off with the Pogue prince.

Before
Charles couldnât help but stare at Rory as she laughed at something he said. They were walking through the streets of Andorra, hand in hand, exploring the local shops and cafes that lined the cobblestone streets.
âHey,â Rory nudged him with her elbow, a mischievous look in her eye, âstop staring, youâre making me blush.â
Charles chuckled, feeling a warmth spread through him at her playful teasing, and pulled her closer to him. âCanât help it, mon amour, youâre just too beautiful.â
Rory rolled her eyes but couldnât hide the smile that tugged at her lips. âSmooth, Leclerc.â Their lips connected in a small kiss.
They continued the stroll through the small town, making the most out of their time together that was quickly coming to an end.
Now
Charles knocked onceâŠtwiceâŠand three times and no one answered the door. So he picked up his phone and called the person whose front door he was outside of.
âHi chĂ©rie, Iâm outside, if you could comeâŠâ the door slammed open.
âIâm so sorry, my alarm didnât ring and I just fell asleep and now Iâm lateâŠâ they both walked inside the house, âyou can go if you want to and I will just uber there or something.
âAmour,â Charles grabbed her shoulders and turned her to face him, âdonât worry, go get ready and I will be here waiting for you. I agreed to take you today, Iâm not backing down from that.â Charles kissed her forehead and walked into her kitchen leaving her standing there looking into nothing.
Aurora turned her gaze to Charles and admired as he tried to find what he was looking for in her kitchen. He was making this impossible for her.
Charles stopped cutting the strawberries and admired as Rory went up the stairs still in her cute little pajamas and a smile grew on his face. But he quickly shook it off, he couldnât be mixing things up, he had agreed to be just her friend and if he wanted to stay in her life just friends would be it.
As Rory rushed to get ready, Charles busied himself in the kitchen, preparing a simple breakfast for them both. The familiar tone of the song that Rory had put on while she was getting ready made the silent space welcoming.
As Rory descended the stairs, âHey, are you all ready?â, a warm smile lighting up his face. She looked beautiful, despite her rushed morning, and he couldn't help but feel a surge of affection for her.
"Breakfast is almost ready," Charles said, gesturing towards the table where he had laid out plates and utensils. "Sit down and relax for a moment."
Rory nodded gratefully, taking a seat at the table as Charles finished up the last few touches on their meal. They fell into an easy conversation as they ate, discussing their plans for the day and sharing lighthearted anecdotes from their past adventures.
After breakfast, Rory hurried to gather her things, while Charles collected the dishes and put them in the dishwasher. âAll ready to go.â
Rory stood in front of Charles with a cute smile on her face and seeing that he had put the dishes away she reached up and gave him a sweet kiss on the cheek making Charles blush.
When they arrived at the paddock, Charles parked the car and turned to face her, his expression softening with sincerity. "Are you sure about this?" he asked quietly, his gaze searching hers for reassurance.
Rory hesitated for a moment, her heart pounding in her chest. Getting out of the car at the same time as him would mean that people would see them together and like every time they see a new woman getting out of Charles car dating rumors would arise and their little arrangement would be made public.
"I'm sure," she replied, her voice steady despite the flutter of uncertainty within her. "Thank you for doing this with me, Charles. I appreciate it more than you know." She reached for his hand and gave it a good squeeze.
Charles smiled at her, squeezing her hand back. "I'll be here for you, Rory. No matter what happens."
With a nod of gratitude, Rory waited until he got out of the car and then got out, already feeling the cameras on them and hearing the people calling for him. Charles walked around the car to her side.
âYou okay?â He squeezed her arm gently.
She nodded and he reached out gripping her hand through his as they made their way through the people that were there to receive him. Rory hung back a little bit and admired him as he interacted with his fans, signing things and taking pictures with them.
Throughout all the time she had known him and the first week of their deal, she had never seen him in this environment, surrounded by the people that loved him in his home country. It was a beautiful sight.
Charles turned around to see where Rory was and when he saw the smile on his face he couldnât help but mimic it which led to a couple of photos from the fans.

Before
âLet me take you out on a date.â
âWhat?â Aurora lifted her head from Charles' chest and stared at him with wide eyes.
He put a piece of hair behind her ear. âLet me take you out on a date.â he replied with a smirk on his face.
Aurora sat up looking directly at Charles. âWe have been having dinner together everyday and spending almost all of the days together.â
âBut,â he pulled her so she would be on top of him, âwe havenât had a proper date and I want that, I want to give you a proper date.â
His lips gently touched hers and he stared at her with a lazy smile, Rory just bit her lip hiding away a smirk. âIf I say yes, what would this date consist of?â
âWhatever you wish, ma chĂ©rie.â
Now
âMorning.â Rory sat next to Charles giving him a kiss on the cheek.
After they talked in the car they had both agreed that they would both sleep on it and come back to talk about everything the next day. Rory however barely slept, all she could think about the whole night was the way that they had got together when they were on vacation and the way Charles had just accepted to be her fake boyfriend.
It was weird right? The way he had jumped at the chance to do it and didnât even take time to think it through and she had to be the one to suggest it. Because if they were going to actually do it there would be bigger repercussions especially for Charles.
âMorning, Sunshine.â he kissed her cheek back.
âSunshine?â A smile grew on her face and a redness made its way to her cheeks. âThatâs a new one.â
âDecided to try new things. But if you donât like it I wonât use it again.â
âI love it.â she smiled and took a bite of the croissant he had set up on her plate.
âHow did you sleep?â
âNot that well, I spent the whole night tossing and turning.â
âMe too.â they looked at each other, it was time to talk. âWhat I said last night⊠I want to do it.â
âYou sure?â Rory asked, biting her lower lip.
Charles nodded, his expression serious yet determined. âIâm in Rory. I think it could work, and Iâm willing to take on whatever comes our way.â He reached for her hand and gave it a little squeeze.
Roryâs heart fluttered with a mix of apprehension and excitement. She knew the potential risks of their plan, but she also felt happy that if she was doing this with someone she was at least doing this with her Charlie. âOkay, then, if you are sure, letâs do it.â
Charles smiled at Rory which she contributed and they spent the next hour discussing the logistics of their fake relationship, mapping out a plan to ensure they could maintain everything convincing. In the middle of the plans both couldnât avoid the memories of their past relationship coming to mind.
âSo, are we using our time in Andorra as the story of how everything started.â
Charles smiled. âYeah, you kinda already told your dad that, so we better stick to it.â
âOh, I know.â Rory ran her fingers through her hair. âI donât know what I was thinking when I told him that. And telling them that Matteo already knows. He probably doesnât even properly know who you are.â
âOuch.â
âI mean he knows, it's justâŠâ
Seeing that Rory was ready to start rambling Charles interrupted. âChĂ©rie, I know what you meant, don't worry.â
Rory and Charles smiled at each other. An intimate and knowing smile. However, Rory couldn't shake the feeling that there was something more she needed to say. "Charles, I just want to make sure you know that I appreciate you doing this for me. I know it's asking a lot, and I don't want to drag you into anything you're not comfortable with."
Charles reached across the table, taking her hand in his. "Rory, I'm doing this because I want to. Not just for you, but because I genuinely enjoy spending time with you."
His words sent a warm flutter through Rory's chest, and she found herself smiling despite her lingering doubts. Maybe, just maybe, this crazy plan could actually work. âBut, if at any given moment you want out, just tell me, we will be friends either way.â
Charles' smile faded a little bit. âFriends, right.â
Smaller chapter, but this was until where I had everything planned, now let's see what comes next. If you have any suggestions drop them below or dm me. XoXo

Now
âYou still have time to run.â Rory whispered to Charles as they made their way inside the restaurant, Charles simply smiled at her and kissed her forehead.
They had settled on a restaurant near the hotel Roryâs dad was staying in. Charles had gone to get Rory as a good boyfriend would.
âDonât worry, I can survive a dinner with your dad and Alejandro.â
Charles and Rory walked to the table where Alejandro and her dad were already at.
âCharles, good seeing you again.â the two men shook hands, âAnd Rory, you cleaned up nice.â
âShe always does Mr. Delgado.â
âCall me Gabriel please boy.â
The two finally sat down, Rory stayed facing her dad and Charles facing Alejandro, who hadnât muttered a word since the two arrived. Charles' arm was wrapped around Roryâs chair while they picked what they were going to eat.
âSo, Charles, ready to start a new season?â Gabriel asked after they told the waitress what they wanted to eat.
âYeah, everything is ready to start this new season and everyone is excited about the new possibilities.â
âAfter last season, you definitely need luck this time around.â Alejandro smirked while taking a sip of his drink.
Rory was ready to take off on him but a hand on her thigh from Charles stopped her. âYou are right Alejandro.â Charles started. âAfter last season needing luck is right.â
Charles leaned back on his chair while taking a sip of his wine and not saying anything more. Aurora looked at him with a creased eyebrow not understanding where he was coming from.Â
For her Charlie was an amazing driver. It was not just luck that would get him to win, but his talent, that was the bigger factor in all of this.Â
âHey,â she got closer to him, âyou know that you are amazing right?â Charles just looked at her and gave her a smile that didnât quite reach his eyes.
As they settled into their meal, Gabrielâs gaze lingered on his daughter before turning to Charles. âSo, Charles, how did you two meet?â
Rory tensed up but Charles simply glanced at her, a fond smile playing on his lips. âWe meet during the holidays in a little cafĂ© in Andorra. Rory was just sitting there and after seeing her beautiful face,â he put a hair that had fallen in her face behind her ear and continued to talk looking directly into her eyes, âI had to go to her. We struck up a conversation, and the rest is history.â
Gabriel nodded thoughtfully. âAnd how long have you been together?â
âAlmost two months, Dad.â Rory interjected, eager to cut the intense eye contact she was having with Charles.
Gabrielâs face hardened as he looked at his daughter. âTwo months and we havenât heard a word from it?â Rory was going to intervene but he cut her off immediately. âWhen you started going out with Alejandro we heard of it in the first week.â
âDadâŠâ
âActually, it was me that asked Rory to keep it a secret for now.â Charles gently squeezed Roryâs waist. âYou know with the way the media is always looking for the next big story about me I just wanted to keep this little thing a secret for a while. Iâm sure you can understand, sir.â
Gabriel nodded, taking a sip from his glass. âItâs just that with her past boyfriends Rory was always eager to tell her family, especially her brother and now no one knows.â
âMatteo knows.â Rory immediately regretted her words as they came out of her mouth. Matteo didnât know and Matteo would not know.
âYeah? I saw Matteo last week and didnât say anything about being in a relationship.â A smirk grew in Alejandroâs face.
âWell,â Charles felt protective over Rory but remained composed, âwe asked him to keep it a secret so I assume he would be keeping true to our request.âÂ
Rory shot Alejandro a pointed look, silently daring him to say more, but he remained silent, focusing on his meal instead. As they continued their dinner small conversation was made about lighter topics and Rory couldnât wait to get out of there.
The drive home was silent with just the soft beats of the music playing on the radio. They both needed this moment to unwind.
âWell, that dinner was interesting.â Rory stated, with a small laugh breaking the silence after a couple of minutes.
âInteresting?â Charles took a quick glance at her. âI would choose other words but if you want to go with âinterestingâ you do you.â They both laughed. âNow I get why you broke up with Alejandro.â
âYeah, he is quite a piece.â She took a deep breath. âAnd my dad always defending him doesnât help.â
âHe didnât defend him as much tonight.â
âBecause you were there. When itâs just me, him, mom and Matteo, Alejandro is the golden child.âÂ
Charles looked at her. âSo, Matteo also would like you to be with him?â
âGod no. Matteo was the first person who told me to leave him.â She had a thin smile on her face. âHe defends me anytime they bring him up and he is there. And now we brought him into this mess that was supposed to be just for today.â She let her face fall into her hands.
âHey,â he put his hand on her thigh giving her a reassuring squeeze, âitâs going to be okay.â When he saw her shaking her head he knew he had to act fast, âMaybe we could go for it.â
She raised her head and looked at him. âGo for what?â
He pulled up in front of the hotel. âThis fake dating thingâŠâ
âCharlieâŠâ
âHear me out before you say no.â He gently turned her on the seat so she would be completely facing him. âIt would get both Alejandro and your parents off your back and we donât need to come out to the public with it, we can keep it between four walls.â He knew that the thought of the media that would be surrounding them would pull her away and he couldnât have that happen.
âCharlie⊠Whatâs in it for you?â She couldnât believe that she was actually considered this. Start a fake relationship with the guy she wouldnât let herself be in a real relationship with.
âDonât worry about it mon amour.â

Now
It had been a week since they last talked, a week with zero contact between them. Maybe it wasnât on purpose, maybe it was, no one knows, but it had been a week since they last talked and they both missed each other.Â
Charles had come close to texting Rory a couple of times, but he always stopped himself, he had agreed to give her time, so that was exactly what he was going to do. Rory on the other hand had found herself looking for Charles everytime she was in a room where other drivers were also.
Right now, separated from each other they were both focused on their own thing. It was the media day of the first weekend of the season and Charles was making his way around the interviews.
âCharles, great to see you!â
âLikewise.â He shot his charming smile to the camera.
âYou look fresh from the vacation.â Charles laughed a bit, âReady for this weekend? A lot of expectations?â
He gently scratched his chin, âYeah, you know how it goes, itâs the first weekend of the season, all the points and all the doors are open, so yeah, I can say I have expectations for this season.â
âLast season didnât end as you expected, have the holidays helped you deal with the disappointment that came with it?â
âIn some way. The only thing I can say is that the holidays came at the right time.â They both laughed as Charles moved on to the next interview.
He knew all the questions would revolve around these two subjects, his expectations for the new season and if he had forgotten what had happened last season. Of course he had expectations and of course he hadnât forgotten. Last season was awful in more ways than one and he had disappointed everyone and his goal this season was to change that.
âHave you been getting along with everyone?â
âYes dad, I have.â Rory reassured her father.
She wasnât expecting that when this morning she was woken up by a knock on her door for it to be her dad. Her parents had told her that they would be coming to visit someday, but she was expecting that someday to be the first GP.Â
Her dad had explained to her that he and some of his colleagues at the clinic had taken this weekend off so they all entered a plane and ended up here. As if she would believe that.Â
âSo⊠Where is Alejandro?â
Rory rolled her eyes. âKnew it was coming.â She took a deep breath, âI donât know and I donât want to know that.â
âAt this point you are just being mean Rory.âÂ
âIâm not being mean. My relationship with Alejandro ended badly to say the least and you guys seem to forget that and think he is the perfect guy for me.â
âOkay, okay, I wonât talk more about the subject now. But just so you know Alejandro is walking towards us.â
Rory quickly turned around to see Alejandro walking towards them with a smile on his face. The last time she saw she invented a boyfriend that was very visibly nowhere to be seen, the only thing she could do was pray that we wouldnât bring it up.
âMr. Delgado, so good to see you,â Alejandro shook her dadâs hand, âI didnât know you were coming.â
âNo one actually knew, it was a last minute decision. And I believe I have already told you to call me Gabriel.â
âSorry Gabriel.â Alejandro laughed and then looked at Rory who had stayed still while the two men interacted, âItâs good to see you too Aurora.â
âCanât say the same.â
âWell, I donât really have the time to catch up now,â a smile started to grow on Roryâs face, âhow about we do it later today? At dinner maybe?â Roryâs smile completely disappeared.
âSounds good to me, we had no plans.â Her dad answered, completely missing the look on her face.
âPerfect. Maybe you can bring your boyfriend to Rory. I bet your father will be delighted to meet Charles.â
Rory became pale, she couldnât believe that Alejandro would bring that up in front of her dad. And that stupid smirk that was making its way into his face proved that he didnât believe a word that she had said to him the week before. And think that Charles was her boyfriend? That man was crazy and she had to make things right.
âIâŠâ Rory started but was quickly interrupted by an arm making its way around her waist.Â
âI would be delighted to attend the dinner tonight. Iâm Charles by the way, Roryâs boyfriend.â Charles extended his hand towards her father without batting an eye and with an award winning smile on his face.
Rory looked up at him with her eyebrows creased to which he just winked at her. Alejandroâs smile quickly disappeared as Charles and Roryâs dad engaged in small talk, completely forgetting that he was present. He hated it so much that he disappeared without uttering a word to anyone present.
âThe conversation is amazing, but unfortunately I have some more things to do before Iâm completely free.â he pulled Rory more to him by the arm that was still around her waist.
âOf course Charles, see you at dinner.â The two mens shook hands one more time.
Charles leaned down to Roryâs ear and whispered, âDonât overthink it. Just text me the details for later and we will make sure that Alejandro has given up by the end of dinner.â He left a small kiss on her forehead before disappearing to what he was going to do before leaving Rory still starstroke without understanding what had just happened all she knew was that it was going to be an interesting dinner.
âSo? Charles Leclerc? You have to start calling us more often.â

Before
âSeat down, Mon Ange. I will be doing the cooking today,â Charles pulled up a chair so Rory could sit in front of the island while he cooked.
âYou cooking?â Rory raised an eyebrow.
âYes, ChĂ©rie,â he got closer to her and hugged her from behind, âI will be cooking for us today.â
âAnd whatâs on the menu, chef?â Roy laid her head on his chest appreciating the way he was caressing from her cheek to her neck and back to her cheek again.
âWell, I can actually only cook pasta, so we are going to have some spaghetti carbonara.â Charles admitted with a chuckle.
Rory laughed. âSounds perfect,â she reached up, pulling his head so she could kiss him.
Now
âThank you for letting me use your shower.â Rory came out of the bathroom running a towel through her hair as she entered the kitchen.
âIt was the least I could do after I embushed you from your house.â Charles remarked, a smile playing on his lips.
Rory laughed while sitting up on one of the stoles and stealing a piece of bread Charles had carefully laid out on a board, âWhat are you cooking?â
Charles blushed slightly, âSpaghetti carbonara.â they made eye contact, both of them with a smile plastered on their faces.
Seeing Charles like this, all focused on making her dinner with a towel on his shoulder reminded Rory of the time they spent together during the holidays. Despite them not having spent that much time together, they had grown familiar with each other and their little manners and that feeling was still present.
âYour specialty?â
âPretty much.â he smiled at her, âSo, what was bothering you today?â
âOh, I need some wine before that.â she walked to the shelf to pick up glasses, âTop shelf?â Charles nodded.
Rory picked up two glasses and took them to where she was sitting before. She picked the already opened bottle of red wine and poured it in the two glasses, handing one to Charles before taking a long sip from hers.
âI told you that I went to talk with Alejandro right?â Charles nodded, âTurns out he is here because my mom told him that I was working here and they both, alongside my dad, decided that Alejandro working closer to me would be the perfect opportunity for us to get back together.â
âWhat?â Charles turned off the stove.
âAnd thereâs more,â she turned to face Charles who had walked to her side, âhe tried to kiss me,â Charles fist clenched imagining the scene, âand I made up that I had a boyfriend to make him stop.â Rory drank the rest of her wine.
âAre you okay?â Charles asked, laying a hand on her shoulder.
âYeah,â Rory reached out to squeeze his hand, ânothing good company and some wine canât solve.â
âSo, how did seeing him make you feel?â
âIt was weird, it had been years since I last saw him and running into him the day I was trying to make a good impression on everyone.â
âIf it makes you happy, everyone I talked to liked you.â A smile grew on Roryâs lips.
âThat certainly helps.â
âDid old feelings rise to the surface when you saw him?â Charles was scared of the answer, but he needed to know.
âGod no. The feelings I had for him are dead and gone and buried. The worst of all of this is that my parents still want me to get back together with Alejandro.â
âYouâre kidding?â
âNope. After I talked to him I called my mom and she said that she saw no reason for me not to be with Alejandro now.â Rory rolled her eyes.
âSorry to say it but your mom is crazy.â
Rory laughed, letting her head rest on Charles' chest while he caressed her back, âI know.â
âCharles Leclerc sit down, I will handle the dishes.â
âNo, I took you out of the house. We will do them together.â Rory just looked at Charles and then rolled her eyes, she was not winning this argument.
Rory started walking to the kitchen with the plates on her hand and Charles followed her closely with a smirk. They fell on a natural rhythm, Rory would wash the dishes and he would dry and put them away. The only sound, besides the casual clatter of dishes, was the soft background music, creating a peaceful atmosphere.
Midway through, Rory started scratching her nose with her sleeve but it wasnât that much use, so she turned to Charles, âCharlie, can you scratch my nose for me?â
Charles didnât think twice and let the cloth fall before gently scratching Roryâs nose. âBetter, Mon amour?âÂ
Rory nodded with a smile on her face making direct eye contact with Charles. The boy let his hand fall on her cheek and gently caressed it making her lean further into his hand while maintaining eye contact. Charles took one careful step closer to Rory making sure that she was okay with it and when she nodded he let his hands fall to her neck gently caressing with his thumbs and closed the distance between the two of them.
When their lips touched softly the two of them got lost in the kiss and all the memories of their time together in Andorra flashed before their eyes. The kisses, the dates, the sweet moments with a person that had started as a stranger and ended the holiday as one of the most important in their lives.Â
âNo,â Rory muttered against Charles' lips, putting her wet hands against his chest pushing him away, âwe canât do this.â
âWhat?â The hurt was evident in his voice and his eyes, âBut I thought you also wanted to?â
âI did⊠I do,â she ran her hands through her hair not long, caring that they were wet, âItâs just, we agreed that we wouldnât do it and I donât want to break our promise.â
âMon Ange, screw that, if we want to be together we can just let that go. UnlessâŠâ his voice started to tremble, âyou donât want to be with me.â
âI do.â the tears started piling up on her eyes, âI just⊠I canât right now. Especially now that Alejandro is back and I realized that there are a lot of things regarding him and my past that need to be resolved first.â
Charles's heart sank as he searched Rory's eyes for reassurance, his mind racing with worry and fear of losing her. She was the best thing that had happened to him in a long time and he couldnât let that go. He reached tentatively, his fingers brushing against hers, seeking comfort and connection amidst the uncertainty.
"Mon Ange, I'll wait for you, Rory. As long as it takes."
Rory looked down at their intertwined hands as her breath caught in her throat, her own heart heavy with emotion. "Charles, I can't make you do that. You deserve someone who can give you all of themselves."
His gaze softened, his fingers gently brushing away her tears. "Rory, you are worth the wait. You are one of the best things that has happened to me, and I'm not giving up on us."
Rory took a shaky breath. "I need time, Charles. I need to figure things out."
He nodded, his expression filled with understanding. "Take all the time you need, mon amour. I'll be here when you're ready."
I feel pain, physical pain.

Manâs World
Charles Leclerc x Ferrari engineer!Reader
Summary: Charles refuses to just stand by and watch as you get disrespected
Warnings: misogyny and lewd comments
Youâre admiring the sleek lines of the red Ferrari F8 Tributo in front of you, running your fingers lightly over the glossy paint. The showroom is quiet this early in the morning, just a few employees milling about getting ready for the day.
Charles had to stop by to sign some merchandise for a charity event and asked if you wanted to tag along. You opted to wait out front and enjoy the eye candy while he took care of business.
You circle around to the back of the car, appreciating the aggressive styling and massive rear diffuser. As an engineer for Scuderia Ferrari who often extends your expertise to working on their road cars, you know every detail of this machine intimately. Your hands itch to pop the hood and inspect that glorious twin-turbo V8, but you resist.
This isnât your workshop back in Maranello.
Lost in thought, you donât notice the group of guys entering the showroom until one whistles loudly. âHey baby, those legs look good enough to wrap around me real tight,â one calls out.
You freeze, feeling your heart rate pick up.
âDonât be shy, we just want to get to know you better,â another says as they swagger over.
You press back against the car, sizing up the situation. Four of them, all clearly well-off based on the expensive watches and designer clothes. But their eyes are cruel as they look you up and down.
âWhatâs a pretty little thing like you doing in a place like this?â The apparent ringleader asks. âHoping to sink your claws into some rich guy and take him for all heâs worth?â The others laugh nastily.
You lift your chin. âActually, I happen to work for Ferrari.â
The man snorts in disbelief. âYeah right, and Iâm Michael Schumacher. Thereâs no way a woman knows anything about these cars other than where the passenger seat is.â
You clench your fists, biting back a scathing retort. The thought of educating these misogynistic jerks gives you immense satisfaction, but you know it wonât do any good. Theyâll never change their prejudiced attitudes.
âDonât listen to him, darling,â one says, giving you a lecherous look. âIâd be happy to take you for a ride, show you how a real man handles power between his legs.â
Youâre about to tell him exactly where he can shove his stereotypes when a familiar voice interrupts sharply.
âThatâs enough.â
You look over to see Charles striding angrily toward you, green eyes blazing. The men surrounding you look irritated at having their fun spoiled.
âCan we help you with something, pal?â The ringleader asks sarcastically.
Charles ignores him, coming to stand protectively beside you. âAre you okay, mon amour?â He asks under his breath.
You nod, relief washing over you now that heâs here. âIâm fine.â
Charles turns an icy stare on the men whoâd been harassing you. âIâd appreciate it if you wouldnât speak to my girlfriend that way,â he says coldly.
The leader looks Charles up and down dismissively. But then a spark of recognition crosses his face. âWait a minute ⊠youâre Charles Leclerc!â He elbows his friends. âThe Formula 1 driver!â
The othersâ eyes widen as they take in Charles with new understanding. âWhoa, seriously?â One exclaims.
The leader chuckles, clearly trying to recover his bravado. âWell, what do you know? The famous racer has a pretty girl on his arm.â His lips curl in a smirk. âHate to break it to you, but itâs obvious sheâs just using you for your money. No way she knows anything about these cars other than how much they cost.â
Charles crosses his arms. âAs it so happens, my girlfriend is an engineer for Scuderia Ferrari, so Iâd bet my entire net worth â and my car collection â that she knows more about the cars in this dealership than all four of you combined and then some.â
You have to bite your lip to hide a smile at the dumbfounded looks on the menâs faces.
âAn engineer?â One sputters. âYou canât be serious.â
You level a challenging stare at them. âDeadly serious. Iâve personally worked on over a dozen projects for Ferrari, including the SF90 Stradale hypercar we just launched.â You point across the showroom. âThereâs one right over there, in fact. Mid-front mounted 4.0L twin-turbo V8, delivering 769 brake horsepower combined with three electric motors. First plug-in hybrid Ferrari ever put into full production.â You smirk at the slack-jawed stares your technical rundown elicits. âSo yes, Iâd say I know a thing or two about these cars.â
Charles grins proudly and squeezes your hand. But the leader is not ready to back down just yet.
âAnyone can memorize a monologue,â he scoffs. âI donât buy it. Youâre clearly just clinging to this guy for his money.â
Fury rises in your chest. You open your mouth to retaliate, but Charles beats you to it.
âThatâs my girlfriend youâre talking about,â he snaps, green eyes blazing. âIâd be very careful with what you say next.â
The man smirks, crossing his bulky arms over his chest. âOr what, tough guy?â
Charles takes a step forward, jaw clenched. The man towers over him but Charles doesnât flinch.
Right as it looks like things might get physical, you quickly take Charlesâs arm. âHeâs not worth it,â you murmur.
Charles hesitates, nostrils flaring. After a tense moment, he relaxes his stance and turns his back on the leering man.
But it seems the group isnât done provoking you yet. âThatâs right, listen to your sugar baby,â one of them calls out. âWouldnât want you messing up that pretty face for the cameras.â
Charles whips back around, shaking with anger now. Heart pounding, you cling to his arm in an effort to hold him back. âCharles, please-â
âNo, Y/N.â He shakes off your hand, stalking toward the men. âI wonât stand here and let them insult you.â
You watch helplessly as Charles gets right in the leaderâs face, nearly nose to nose. âYou need to apologize. Now,â he grits out.
The man narrows his eyes. âApologize? For what? Stating the obvious?â He smirks coldly. âFace it, your little girlfriend is nothing but a gold diggin-â
He doesnât get to finish the sentence. With lightning speed, Charlesâ fist connects squarely with his jaw. The man stumbles back with a pained shout, hand flying to his face.
âCharles!â You hurry to his side, alarmed. Charles is breathing hard, staring down at the man doubled over and groaning. The manâs friends back away nervously.
Chest heaving, Charles turns to you. âIâm sorry. I couldnât listen to him insult you for another second.â
You meet his fiery gaze steadily. âItâs okay, I understand. Thank you for defending me.â After a beat, you add wryly, âAnd remind me not to get on your bad side.â
That startles a small laugh from Charles. The tension in his shoulders eases. He takes your hand, bringing it to his lips for a gentle kiss. âNo chance of that, mon ange,â he murmurs. âYou bring out the best in me.â
***
âOw, ow, ow!â Charles hisses as he gingerly holds his right hand. His knuckles are bruised and bleeding.
You sigh, grabbing the first aid kit to tend to your dramatic boyfriend. âI told you not to punch him, Charles. You donât know the first thing about throwing a proper punch.â
Charles pouts, wincing as you take his hand in yours to examine it. âI was just trying to defend your honor, mon amour. That man was saying such crude things about you.â
You shake your head, amused by his protectiveness. âMy hero,â you tease. âNext time just walk away. I donât need you breaking your hand over some entitled idiotâs comments.â
Charles hangs his head. âI know, I know. I wasnât thinking clearly. I just saw red when he kept insulting you.â
You smile softly, touched by how much he cares. You start cleaning the wounds on his knuckles with a disinfectant wipe.
âOw!â Charles cries out dramatically. âThat stings!â
âDonât be such a baby,â you chide. âItâs just a little antiseptic. I have to clean it so it doesnât get infected.â
Charles pouts some more but stays still as you finish cleaning the abrasions. You apply an antibiotic ointment carefully before beginning to wrap his hand with a bandage.
âI really messed up my hand, didnât I?â Charles mumbles dejectedly.
You nod. âYou definitely did some damage. Nothing serious, but youâll be sore for a while.â
Once youâve wrapped his hand securely, you bring it to your lips and place a gentle kiss on the bandage. âThere. All better.â
Charles gives you a lopsided smile. âMy own personal nurse. How did I get so lucky?â
You grab an ice pack from the freezer and hand it to him. âHere, put this on your hand to help with the swelling and pain.â
Charles sighs dramatically but does as instructed, holding the ice pack gingerly against his injured hand.
You glance at his wrapped hand, the knuckles already starting to bruise beneath the bandage. âDoes it hurt terribly?â
Charles considers the question. âHonestly? Yes, it really does. Punching someone is not as easy as it looks in the movies.â
You laugh. âNo kidding. Thatâs why you leave the punching to trained fighters, not Formula 1 drivers.â
âUgh, this is so embarrassing,â Charles mutters. âWhat will the team say when they find out I injured myself in a fight? And Iâll never hear the end of it from Pierre.â
You pat his leg reassuringly. âJust say you hurt it working out. No one has to know about your misguided attempt at honorable combat,â you tease.
Charles chuckles ruefully. âGood idea. The last thing I need is for this to become paddock gossip.â
You both sit in comfortable silence for a few moments, Charles icing his hand while you snuggle contentedly against him.
"Thank you for patching me up and taking such good care of me,â Charles gently brushes the hair from your face with his uninjured hand. âEven when I do stupid things."
You grin. âItâs a tough job but someoneâs gotta do it. Especially since you did almost break your hand for me.â
You settle back against Charles comfortably. He may be reckless and impulsive at times, but you know he always has the best intentions at heart. And you'll always be there to care for him if those good intentions backfire.
For better or worse, this protective man is the love of your life.

Now
âAlejandro?â Roryâs voice quivers as she addresses him, her heart pounding in her chest as he turns around with a smile, âCan we talk?âÂ
Rory leads Alejandro to the room she had previously been with Charles. After the two talked Rory knew that if she was actually going to talk with Alejandro it had to be soon, she couldnât simply wait or she would end up talking herself out of it.Â
Rory leaned against a table while Alejandro sat comfortably on the couch, âWhy are you here?â Her voice is steady, but thereâs an underlying tension in her words.
âI needed a job.â
âI know,â she shook her head, âbut you also know that working here has always been my dream. You never wanted this.â
âWell,â he got up and took a step toward Rory, âyou caught me there.â He let out a little laugh, âA little bird might have told me that you had gotten this offer and I thought why not?â
âWhat do you mean?â Roryâs brow furrows in confusion.
âWell, you know I kept in contact with your parents right?â Aurora nodded, âYou mom might have mentioned that you were going to work here and I thought it was the perfect opportunity to win you back.â
Rory started to laugh, her parents, her own parents had told her ex-boyfriend where she was going to work and he wanted to get back together? Alejandro was looking at her like she had just told the sky is pink, why was she laughing?
âAlejandro,â she cleaned a tear that was starting to fall from her face, âwe are never going to happen again. I donât know what my mother has been telling you but Iâm not interested in getting back together with you.â
Alejandro took a couple more steps to get close to Rory and cupped her cheek âDarling, you canât deny what still exists between the two of us, I havenât been able to move on since we broke up and I know that you havenât eitherâŠâ
âI have a boyfriend.â She blurred out, not waiting for Alejandro to react and running out of the room.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the door, Charles was getting ready to start the first practice of the season. Physical Warm-up? Check. Helmet and Racing Gear? Check. Talk with the Engineers? Check. Talk with Race Officials? Check. Radio? Check. Mental Preparation? On Going.
It was the first time he was going to race with all of them after last season and he was certainly feeling the pressure. Last season he had disappointed not only the fans and the people at Ferrari but also himself, and he wanted to make sure that this year it would be different. It had to be, there was no other option.Â
As Aurora left the room she was in with Alejandro, she walked right into another one and dialed her motherâs number.
âHello?â
âMom!â Rory sat down on a small couch near the window.
âSweety, so glad you called. How have you been? How is the new job? Have you run into Alejandro already?â
âThatâs why Iâm calling. Did you tell him I was coming to work here?â
âOf course I did.â
Rory scratched one of her eyebrows and leaned her back hitting the back of the couch before taking a deep breath and asking, âWhy?â
âI thought that you would want a friend around.â
âIf I wanted a friend that would 100% not be Alejandro.â
âOh Aurora, donât tell me it's still about what happened two years ago?...â
âOf course it is.â
â...You should be over it by now and see how perfect Alejandro is for youâŠâ
âMomâŠâ
â...you work in the same field, now in the same placeâŠâ
âMom.â
â...heâs a sweet kid and you shouldnât let a mistake from the past dictate your relationship now, but I still donât see what he did wrong, he was just a worried boyfriend and youâŠâ
âMOM!â Rory took a deep breath, âI donât want to see Alejandro and I donât want a relationship with him. Heâs part of my past and he was an awful boyfriend and Iâm sorry if I have moved on and I donât want to see him again.â
âAurora, he is a family friend, you canât simply ignore his presence.â
âYes I can, and it has worked wonders for me in the past.â
âAurora Delgado, I will not take this kind of disrespect from you to a wonderful boy, call me when you are ready to be reasonable.â and her mother hung up the phone.
Aurora let her arms fall to her legs and ran her fingers through her hair. She knew that talking with her parents about Alejandro was a lost battle.Â
âBye Aurora, see you tomorrow.â
âSee you tomorrow,â Aurora gathered the rest of her stuff and walked out of the center to her car when she saw a figure leaning against it. âHow did you know that was my car?â
âYou would be impressed with the things people tell me chĂ©rie.â Charles smiled and opened his arms for Aurora to walk into them.
The girl gladly did it and enjoyed the mix of his perfume that he probably had just reapplied, mixed with the smell of the fresh air. Charles leaned his head closer to her cheek and kissed it before letting her go.
âBig plans for this evening?â He asked her as she leaned in the car close to him.
âIf drinking wine while watching bad tv is your definition of big plans, then yes I have big plans.â
âThat bad?â
âOh, and you donât even know half of it.â
âWhat about you tell me all of it tonight?â She looked at him with a raised eyebrow. âI could cook for the both of us and you would just have to rant and tell everything thatâs in your head.â
âSounds good to me.â
Tell what you are thinking about it and what you think will happen next.

Before
âWell, all my dating history is online, so I think it is only fair I get to know a little bit about yours.â Charles licked his ice cream ignoring Roryâs shocked expression.
âWhat do you mean you should know mine?âÂ
âWell,â He licked a little bit of her ice cream that was starting to fall. âI want to know about the first people that got your eye.â
âWhat if there was no one?â He looked sideways at her with a little smirk present on his lips. âOkay, there were two.â
âHow was the first one?â He sat on a bench and pulled her to sit next to him pulling her legs on top of his.
âHis name was David,â A little smile grew on her face, âwe met when we were like 14 and we started dating a couple of weeks after that. You know when you are getting your very first taste of love and itâs all fresh and wonderful?â Charles nodded putting his arm around her shoulders, âThatâs how it felt with David throughout the whole relationship. We were two kids that were experiencing love for the first time and we were loving it.â
âHow did it end?â She laid her head on his shoulder.
âWe were finishing high school and had different ambitions for life, he wanted to travel the world and I wanted to go to college.â
âNever thought of doing long distance?â
âWe did at first, but then we realized that it wouldnât work for us. We spent almost our whole time together and going from that to only seeing each other in person a couple days at a time, it wasnât for us.â Charles nodded when she looked at him, âWe broke up the night of our senior prom, on the way we decided that it was it and the rest is history.â
âUhh, breaking up with a girl on the night of her senior prom? Never a good sign.â She laughed and he pulled her to him and kissed her forehead, âAnd the second boyfriend? Was he as lovable as David?â
Rory sighed, diving deeper into Charles' chest. âNo, my relationship with Alejandro wasnât anything like my relationship with David. Me and Alejandro met in college, he was two years ahead of me, so we didnât have any classes together. At the beginning it was all fun and sweet but as time progressed he started showing a more controlling and possessive nature. At first I let it slide as him caring about me but as time progressed I realized it wasnât that and that he was trying to make sure that he was the center of my life and that I had no one else, so I broke up with him. The main issue with the break up was that my parents, they loved him, said that he was perfect and that he and I would have beautiful babies and even after the break up they still havenât forgotten about him.â
This time Charles didnât interrupt her and just let her ramble. When she was done he pulled her even more to him, putting a finger under her chin and turning her face to him.
âIf it depends on me Rory, you will never suffer for love again.â
Now
âWhat are you doing here?â Alejandro immediately hugged Aurora who just stood there without moving an inch, âI didnât think I would see you anytime soon, what a great surprise. I really missed youâŠâ As Alejandro kept on hugging her and talking, Roryâs eyes started to look around the room to see if she could spot Charles.
Charles, who was still looking at Rory and completely ignoring Carlos, the moment he saw the desperation in her eyes ran to her and pulled her out of the manâs arms protectively wrapping an arm around her waist.
âHoney, howâs this?â Charles looked between the two while Rory grabbed his hand that was around her waist.
âIâm Alejandro, Iâm actually going to be working with FerrariâŠâ
After he said his name Charles heard nothing more that came out of his mouth and turned to Rory turning his back to Alejandro. âAre you okay?â Rory shaked her head. âDo you want to get out of here?â She nodded, still gripping his hand.
Charles gave her forehead a quick kiss not caring to who was watching and started directing them to a room in the back that he knew would be clear now. He ignored anyone that tried to talk to him, only paying attention to keeping Rory close to him and making their way away from Alejandro.
As they got into the room Charles quickly locked the door behind them while Rory sat on the couch quickly followed by Charles who put an arm around her.
âI donât know why seeing affected me so much,â Aurora ran her fingers through her hair.
âMaybe because you werenât expecting to see him?â
âMaybe,â Rory leaned back, sitting on the couch shoulder to shoulder with Charles, âI think he said he wanted to talk to me.â
âYou think?â
âI kind of zoned out when he was talking.â
âAnd do you want to talk to him?âÂ
âI think so,â she looked at Charles, âIâm going to have to work with him eventually so might as well talk with him now.â
Charles nodded understandingly, though he couldnât help the pang of jealousy that tugged at his heartstrings. âOkay, Iâll stay with you if youâll have me,â he assured her, squeezing her hand gently.
Rory offered him a grateful smile, feeling comforted by his presence. âThank you, Charles. I appreciate it.â
Together, they sat in the quiet room, the air thick with unspoken tension. Roryâs brain was a mess with all the emotions that were going through her. Alejandroâs unexpected appearance had caught her off guard, bringing up memories that she thought were long gone.
Meanwhile, Charles struggled to contain his own feelings, torn between his desire to protect Rory and the decision they made in Andorra and the thin line between their friendship and his feelings for her.
After a moment of silence, Rory spoke up, her voice hesitant. "Do you think I should talk to him?"
"It's ultimately up to you, Rory," he replied gently. "If you feel ready to face him and clear the air, then I'll support you. But if you're not ready, that's okay too. Your well-being comes first."
Rory nodded, taking comfort in his words. "Thank you, Charles. I think I need some time to gather my thoughts before I decide."
"Take all the time you need," Charles reassured her, giving her hand another reassuring squeeze. "I'll be right here."

Before
Aurora left her hotel room behind and took on her first trip exploring the beautiful streets of Andorra La Vella. She passed little local shops and stopped at a small cafe in the corner of a street.
She took a look around the place and sat at a table near the window so she could keep seeing the people outside and the beautiful streets that surrounded her. As she was picking what to eat, the jingle of the doorbell announced the arrival of a tall brunette. Rory looked up but quickly looked back down when her gaze briefly met the strangerâs.
Charles went into the café with the goal of picking up a coffee to go and a small treat to eat in the park before wandering off for the day, but when he saw the brunette girl sitting by herself he knew he had to stay. He looked around for a place to sit, but he was feeling bold that day so he approached the table Rory was at.
âMind if I sit?â Rory signed for him to sit with a small smile on her face, surprising even Charles.
Okay, the situation may be a little weird, a random guy just walked into the café and asked to sit at her table. At a normal time Rory would have probably said no, but she was on vacation and she had decided that this time around she would let herself live and make the most out of this vacation.
The interaction was unconventional, to say the least, but there was something about Charles that intrigued her. Aurora found herself drawn to his easy charm and magnetic presence. And Charles found himself attracted by her soft nature and captivating smile.
âIâm Charles Leclerc.â He extended his hand to her.
âAurora Delgado.â He picked up her hand and gave it a little kiss.
âMay I ask what a beautiful girl like you is doing here all alone?â
âStarting with the compliments already, uhn?â she let out a little laugh, âI came to have breakfast before going to explore for the day, until you interrupted me.â
Charles' whole demeanor changed, âOh, if Iâm interrupting you, I can just goâŠâ
Aurora laughed and grabbed his hand, gently caressing it, âIâm kidding with you. I was actually going to spend the whole day alone so spending it with someone else sounds fun.â She softly smiled at him and he couldnât look away, not even if he tried.Â
The pair ended up combining their two plans together, they got breakfast to go and ate at a park close by that Charles had discovered the day before and spent the whole day exploring the city and getting to know one another.
Now
âSo, Charles, ready for a new season?â Rory asked, still holding Charles hand.
âVery prepared, letâs see if it goes better than the last one,â He gave her a small sad smile. Rory squeezed his hand softly, he had told her about the problems he had had last season.
âItâs going to be better, and if you need me I will be here ready to kick the ass of everyone that makes it a bad season.â Charles let out a soft chuckle, âThatâs what friends are for right?â
His smile faded slightly, âSure.â
âCharles!â The pair looked behind Charles and saw that Carlos was calling his teammate.
âI should go,â he let go of her hand reluctantly and stretched it slightly.
âYeah, you know where to find me.â
âWhat was that?â Carlos asked the moment Charles was at his side.
âWhat was what?â
âYou and the new medical team member.â
âAurora?âÂ
âI guess.â
âNothing,â Charles rubbed the back of his neck praying that Carlos wouldnât notice the blush that was starting to make its way to his checks, âI was just being a good person and making sure that she felt welcomed to the team.â
âUh, okay.â Carlos looked at him with narrowed eyes, âNow more important things, how was the off the grid holidays?â
âAmazing,â A smile made its way to Charles lips while he remembered the time that he spent with Aurora, âit was fun to meet a whole new country. And you? How was Spain?â
âSame old, same old, but it was good to see the family again...â
While Carlos recounted his summer events, the countless meetings with his aunts, the trips he did around Spain with his parents and his siblings, Charles was only focused on Rory. He knew that they had both agreed that being just friends was the best decision for now, that putting a relationship in the middle of all of the drama that usually happened in the paddock and the fact that Rory was just starting a new job would be too much, but man he couldnât stop staring at her.
The first time he met Rory the attraction was pure physical, he saw her, thought she was beautiful and approached her. But as time progressed and they started spending even more time together, Charles realized that she was even more beautiful on the inside and that she was in his life with the purpose of lighting up his days and making them better.
Aurora, on the other hand, was oblivious to Charles' stare and kept on talking with her new colleagues while always playing with the charms of her bracelet. Everyone seemed excited to work with her and were welcoming her with open arms, even the medical teams that worked with each team. The only people she had yet to meet were the ones that worked with Ferrari.
And as that thought crossed her mind, they arrived at the circle where everyone else was. They started talking with the people that they already knew, so it was up to Aurora to make the introductions happen. Maybe they didnât even know that she was starting today.
âHi,â She started as she approached the man from behind, âIâm Aurora.â The man quickly turned around.
âAurora?â
âAlejandro?â

Before
The setting sun cast a warm glow over the field as the couple embraced themselves.
âYou know,â Rory lifted her head from Charles' chest, âI wish I could live here.â
âIn Andorra?â He took a bite out of the strawberry and leaned more into the towel that was below him.
âNo,â She accepted the strawberry he was offering, âin a field like this.â
âAnd whatâs stopping you?â
She looked at him sideways, ââCause that would totally work with me being a doctor.â
âIt could,â He pulled her to him, âyou could open up your own clinic in a place like this.â
âI donât know Charlie, I first need the experience and I donât want to ask my parents for money...â She trailed off, staring at the sky above them, lost in her thoughts.
Charles followed her gaze after dropping a feather-like kiss on her forehead. Silence lingered between them, and while it wasnât uncommon this time it was different.
It was the last day of their vacation and that meant that reality was approaching rapidly and with it came the question they were both avoiding. What would be of their relationship?
They would both be working somewhat together, but paddock relationships never worked without external problems getting in the middle of the relationship. It was hard, none wanted to let go, but neither knew what to do.
âRory?â She looked up at him, âWhat are we going to do?â
She sat up, âAbout what?â
âUs.â
She turned her back to him and sighed, âCharlieâŠâ
âItâs time we talk about this Rory, itâs the last day of vacation and soon we will be getting back to workâŠâ
Aurora turned around and sat starling Charles with her arms around his neck, he automatically put his arms around her waist, âYou know I donât want to go into work with a relationship.â She confessed, her voice soft, âPaddock relationships are already difficult as it is and me being new I donât want anyone to think that I got the job because Iâm your girlfriendâŠâ
Charles laid his head on her shoulder snuggling closer to her and pulling her to him, Aurora ran her fingers through his hair. This was hard on both of them but they knew that it needed to be done. It would be Rory's first contact with this side of the media and entering it as Charles Leclercâs girlfriend would only complicate things.
Rory started to feel wetness on her neck making her lift Charles face, âWe are going to be okay, I promise.â She pulled his face closer to hers and kissed him, âIn a week's time you wonât even remember me,â she teased, attempting to lighten the mood.
âThat will never happen.â
Now
âItâs always the same thing every year, they want to introduce us to the team and no one changes.â
âOkay, grandpa,â Lando said, escaping from Lewisâ slap.
To be honest Charles wasnât really interested in listening to the rest of the drivers bickering. See, the drivers were being introduced to the team they would be working with for that season and right now it was time for the medical team and Charles could wait to see Rory.
He looked to his side when he felt a hand on his shoulder, âWill you stop bouncing on your feet?â Pierre asked, âYouâre making me nauseous.â
Charles raised his hands in surrender and stopped moving and started playing with his ring instead.Â
âListen up, everyone,â they all looked at the man, âthis is the same thing each year, so letâs get a move on. The only addition we have to the medical team is Aurora Delgado, she just recently graduated medical school so donât give her a lot of work. I will let you all move around and catch up for a bit while I go and talk to the team executives.â
As the drivers started talking amongst themselves and the people that they already knew, catching up on the summer vacation, Charles made a beeline next to Aurora.
âHello, you are Aurora Delgado, right?â The boy asked with a smirk on his face.
âYes, and you areâŠ?â She was going to play along.
âCharles Leclerc,â he picked up her hand and kissed the back of it, âat your service.â

Hope is For You
Characters: Harry Bingham, Reader
Not Requested
Word Count: 428
Inspiration: Hopefulness is like a drug. Itâs hard to escape the addiction of hoping.
Y/n's arrival in West Ham marked a turning point for its residents, especially for one Harry Bingham. The mysterious atmosphere that surrounded him seemed to dissipate in Y/n's presence, as if her laughter carried the antidote to the somber clouds that hung over the town.
One day, as Y/n explored the town square, she spotted Harry sitting alone on a bench, his gaze fixed on the distant horizon. Undeterred by his enigmatic aura, she approached him with her trademark bright smile.
"Mind if I join you?" Y/n asked, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.
Harry looked up, surprised by the interruption. "Sure, have a seat."
As they began talking, Y/n's optimism clashed with Harry's stoicism, creating a unique dynamic that neither could resist. Amidst the peculiar events that had unfolded in West Ham, their banter and laughter became a refreshing break from the mysteries that shrouded the town.
Days turned into nights, and Y/n and Harry found themselves drawn to each other. Their shared adventures became a respite from the peculiarities of the society they lived in. They explored the town's hidden corners, discovering a sense of normalcy in the midst of the abnormal.
In the quiet moments, hope seemed to weave its threads around their hearts. Y/n, with her contagious enthusiasm, brought a lightness to Harry's world that he hadn't known was missing. He, in turn, offered her a sense of security amidst the uncertainties of West Ham.
One evening, under the soft glow of a streetlamp, Harry took Y/n's hand. The warmth of their entwined fingers sent a shiver down Y/n's spine. In that simple gesture, they acknowledged the unspoken truth â hope, like a drug, had become an addiction they were more than willing to embrace.
"Hopefulness is like a drug," Harry mused, his eyes locking onto Y/nâs. "It's hard to escape the addiction of hoping."
Y/n smiled, her gaze unwavering. "Maybe that's not such a bad thing. Maybe hope is what we need to get through all of this."
As they strolled through the quiet streets, the shadows of the past seemed to fade away. The town, with its peculiarities, became a backdrop for their love story. In the soft glow of the moon, they embraced the hopefulness that had become their shared drug â a pocketful of hope that they carried with them into the uncertain future of West Ham. And in each other, they found a source of strength, a reason to face the mysteries that lay ahead with a newfound sense of optimism.
