Ever just make an OC and you think they’ll just be a one-off character but then all of the sudden, whoop. You dive into the character to understand how they handle a situation you put them in, you help them succeed, develop their personality more than you planned and you’re just attached to your little baby now so you’ve got to see them grow and flourish and make it to the happy ending they deserve?

☆ oc questions: creator edition.
Tumblr media
send me a question + an oc and i'll answer it
would this oc fight you if they could?
would you kill off this oc, and why? / if they're already dead, why did you kill them off?
if this oc could change anything about their life (or lack thereof), what would it be, and would you change that?
how was this oc named? is there any specific reason or meaning behind it?
why was this oc created?
what was the inspiration for their story / lore?
have you made any alternate universes for this oc? if not, what kind of au would you make of them?
has there been any part of having this oc (designing, writing, drawing, etc...) that was difficult?
what is your favorite part of having this oc?
have you ever considered removing, abandoning, giving away, or otherwise no longer using this oc? why or why not?

You need a number generator for this.
The idea is that you go down the lists which have specific ranges and whatever number is generated for that list is one aspect of your character

Insomniac Hero x Villain
Hero can't bear the blaming eyes of thousands of citizens who show up on their dream every night. They eventually learn to spend their nights on the rooftop of the city buildings, blending into the blinding lights of the modern world. The first few nights without sleep were no sweat for the strongest superhero in the city, but as the nights continued, Hero became progressively drenched in fatigue. It finally snaps when, in the middle of a battle with Villain, Hero's vision blurs before collapsing to the ground. Villain runs to them, finally noticing the dark circles under their eyes and shivering body. Before any reporters jump into Hero's face with cameras, Villain takes them to their home and lay them on the soft bed. Even then, Villain thought Hero was overworked by the Association, which caused insomnia. It was when Hero started to whimper and bawl that Villain realized the truth. Without much thinking, Villain holds Hero's hands as tenderly as they can. The other hand finds itself caressing Hero's hair. It's all tangled up and sweaty from the previous battle, but Villain couldn't care less. Villain's heart is stomped every time Hero lets a weak, broken apology to everyone they couldn't save. After an hour or so, Villain's warm hands finally push out the nightmare, and the two fall into a deep slumber that night.
When Hero opens their eyes again, they are welcomed by the bright sunlight shining down on them through the blinds. A realization hits them that they were able to sleep last night without any problems, and they feel their head clear up for the first time in a month. They look around the unfamiliar interior before laying their eyes on Villain, who is still in a sweet dream. Though Hero figures out the whole context of the situation after a few seconds, they decide to keep Villain's company until they wake up. Perhaps they could pay them back with some ice cream later.

Character Inspiration
Thanks for the tag @toribookworm22^^
Soft tags: @rubywrite @olivescales3 @lexiklecksi @missaddledmiss @mariahwritesstuff @sam-glade and an open tag.
Also, this is going to be a longer post since I haven't been posting much in general recently. I also prety much enjoyed doing this tag. So I thought about making another part with another set of characters in the future.
Rules: Pick a character(s) from your wip(s) and tell who they were inspired by or from.
Ulfrika Výtaušeimová - her sort of harsh personality is basically mine with slightly more (read: A LOT more) salt. Her physical design, though, is mostly inspired by an illustration of a revenant I saw in one of the book with legends about folk creatures I own. When I tried to draw her for the first time, though, I didn't know what sort of a reference pose I should pick. So I used my own reflection I took a photo of. So I guess that some of my features also exist within this character.
Márgerdra Výtaušeimová - she has a few inspirations, like Helga Sinclair from Atlantis the Lost Empire (I liked that mysterious femme fatale aura), young Anita Ekberg as I she had the facia features closest to those I could think about when it came to Márgerdra. Some of her abilities and skills are based on the creatures from Slavic folklore. Like the inspiration about Márgerdra's hair storing some of her power and life essence is tied to the folk stories about 'rusalky' (a type of a water fairy or a nymph which appear in many stories here) and 'víly' (basically forest fairies or maybe even dryads (???) which look human but have magical abilities and can be mischievous, malicious or just minding their own business).
Master Kogar Výtaušeima - his personality doesn't have an exact inspiration, I just imagined what the most chill and cool dad would be and went with it. Cold-hearted asshole on the outside, a huggable teddy bear around his kids. His physical design, though, relates a lot to Karl Urban since the guy looks both young and old (this sounds weirder when sai outloud but whatever).
Miss Yawen and Golden Wind Viper - even in physical form these twins might have a few snake-like features since they actually are snake demons.
Ereanth - although he may not appear that much in my wips, I took the inspiration for his name (and partially for his appearence, too) from Eredin from the Witcher books. Although, his personality is much different. Though, I didn't take much inspiration from around when I was coming up with his behaviour and so on. It sort of came naturally because I wanted some contrast. Oh, and maybe there's a slight hint of Tom Hiddleston since the guy has quite an interesting facial structure.
Faust/Gemini/the Twin - the strange sentient structure in Ulfrika's chest has a few inspirations one of which is the tale of Dr Faust and Mephistopheles and the tale of Pan Twardowski. Ironically, Ulfrika was nicknamed by a few nobles as Mephisto or Pale Devil despite the fact that she fulfills the role of Dr Faust much more. On the other hand, Ulfrika did use the surname Twardowska while living abroad for a while as a cover. The inspiration for the design comes from the game Blasphemous since I found the character of Nacimiento one of the most intriguing and tragic ones.Another inspiration for the character comes from Edward Mordrake (the Two-faced Man as he might be better known).

A quick introduction to 1940’s fashion
I've been so obsessed with Band of Brothers recently and I love reading the fanfics. Here’s my contribution, for your OC's.
(soon!) Part 2. Hair, makeup etc
(soon!) 1940's lookbook (photos)
The war had a major impact on 40's fashion. There were shortages and rations, and women were entering the workforce as men went off to war, leading to a more simplistic, utilitarian style.
Tumblr media
Rations and regulations:
In the UK, clothing was rationed from June, 1941 to March, 1949, in varying strictness. So although you still payed for clothing with money, you'd need coupons to be allowed to buy them altogether. In the US, the Regulation L-85 (1942), rationed natural fibers and restricted how clothing could be made in order to save fabric. This meant regulating the skirt length, the fullness of pants and jackets, and even banned cuffs.
Silhouette:
The early 40's silhouette had strong, boxy shoulders, but by the mid forties and as the restrictions grew more strict, the silhouette softened to save materials. A nipped-in and high waistline stayed popular for the whole decade, and a hemline below the knee was fashionable until 1947, when Dior came out with the "New Look".
Tumblr media
Fashion:
Because restrictions and shortages, the look was simple but stylish. Showy, over the top clothing was considered unfashionable to wear in wartime Britain.
The "military style" bled into every day fashion. It was common for men, who were not on active duty, to still wear bomber jackets, trench coats and aviator glasses. It's visible on women's fashion as well, which is why some of the clothing have a sort of a uniformly look.
Popular outfits for women were square-shouldered jackets with matching A-line skirts, shirtwaist dresses, and thanks to actresses, pants were now also a stable part of women's wardrobes. The pants had wide, straight legs and high waists, and were often paired with a colorful blouse or sweater and a matching jacket.
Hand knitting in Britain was at peak popularity during the war. Women on the home front were encouraged to "knit your bit" and contribute to the war effort by knitting for the troops. The warmth of woollen items also made knitwear popular for civilians.
Tumblr media
Working women:
Women were entering the workforce to replace men, who went off to war. This required more practical attire, such as sturdy shoes, head scarves, overalls etc.
Some jobs (such as the WAVES) felt it important to emphasize that women wouldn't become any less feminine by working or wearing a uniform. This is why makeup, nail polish and feminine hairstyles weren't just largely allowed, they were encouraged.
Actress Veronica Lake, famous of her highly imitated "Peek-a-boo" hairstyle, where her hair covers one of her eyes, encouraged women working in factories to tie their hair up into safer styles to avoid injury. In this Safety Styles video, she has her hair up in a "victory roll" style.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The New Look by Dior:
After the long war, and as life was slowly returning back to normal, there was a want of "returning to femininity" among women. At the same time, some women feared that this ultra-femininity would set back all the progress they had made working outside the home during the war.
In 1947, Christian Dior released a new collection called ”The New Look” which featured a full, calf-length skirt. After the simple lines of the utility clothing, such a dress seemed desirable by contrast. The full skirt was also controversial for how much fabric it used, since rationing in the UK wouldn't end for another two years and there were still material shortages in both UK and the US.
Despite the controversies, the New Look was hugely popular and became the predominant silhouette well into the 1950's.
Tumblr media
A/N: To keep this short, I had to paste and delete like half of what this originally was onto part 2. Also, lmk if there's interest in men's fashion ver. of this!
Hopefully this was legible. All the ”not my first language blah blah” stuff <3

forget about assassin characters who have deep, well thought out opinions on how the world works and go on rants abt how "killing scum like this is how we can improve society" or whatever. i want assassin characters who don't know how to do anything else. violence is what they've always known. they have nothing else, no other skills that could help them live a normal life and find a normal career, no matter how much they might want to run away and get out of their field. they're too far into this and there's just no going back now, right? so they just live life the same as they always have.

Hero, who is so done with it x Naive villain
Hero works in an ordinary office when they are not saving the world. One particular day, a new worker arrives under their team. They bring fresh sunlight to the dull office with their positivity. Hero would have appreciated that a bit more if Villain wasn't so... strange. As if they were raised from another universe, common sense wasn't so common to them.
On Villain's first day, Hero warmly extended his arm for a handshake, only to see Villain hurriedly rummaging through their clutch to pull out a thermos. In a blink of an eye, they even placed tea cup on Hero's hand before pouring a warm tea for them. Hero could only stare at them in shock as Villain looked up with a proud grin.
It wasn't long until Hero figured out the new worker was Villain in disguise. They wondered if it could even be called disguise when their phone lock screen was a selfie with all of the popular villains around the city. They claimed it was a cosplay, but that was doubting when Villain literally had a tattoo of their symbol on the back of their neck.
From then on, it was a repetition of Hero teaching Villain how to do things, only to find Villain doing it unbelievably strange way and get same results.
Of course, Hero didn't actively try to ruin Villain's life by telling this to the Hero Headquarters. The office was always short on workers, and if someone could lift the weight of paperwork from Hero's back, Hero could, quite literally, accept even the evil force. Not to mention that they were slowly building a fond over this lovable chaos. They convinced themself that if Villain invested their time working for the office, they would have less time to plan terror across the city. Yes, only that. No ulterior motive.
