Small Productivity Tips
THINGS TO TRY TO HELP BOOST PRODUCTIVITY
Hey everyone! Lately, I’ve been finding that my productivity and just the want to work (and effort I put in when I do) was been lacking...badly. So, I’ve decided to compile a list of small things to help me improve my productivity, things I want to try out and things I know have worked in the past, so I hope these can help you guys too.
Start the day by time blocking; i’ve been using just the calendar app on my iPhone/Mac, and basically i just block out times during my day to get certain things done, and even if it’s not done (unless it’s due that day) i move onto the next thing to keep the workflow going
Keep a workflow; if possible, don’t have large breaks of time between your studying and change the class that you’re studying every 1-1.5 hours depending on the amount of work that needs to be done, this will keep you on your toes and overall less bored
Change your study space; even if you can’t (or don’t want to) get out of your house, rearranging your workspace or even going to a different room to study for a few days out of the week can really help
PUT YOUR PHONE OUT OF THE ROOM; this has been the biggest thing for me as i kept finding myself getting distracted, and if i need to work on my laptop, for ex. i need lecture slides or an online textbook, when possible, i load everything then turn off the wifi on my laptop
Study with someone; or just have an accountability partner, i know a lot of people don’t find this very helpful, myself included, but something being in an environment where everyone else is working too makes you want to work as well. or even putting a study with me (realtime) can help you be more efficient
Make your study space a positive place; by this i mean, don’t bring a negative attitude towards it, even if you don’t want to study, if you go in with a bad attitude, the fact of the matter is that you more than likely won’t get much done, or if you do it won’t be as good as your work would be with a positive headspace. i sometimes light candles or put on instrumental background music to make the space more inviting
Take breaks; your productivity is the best in 50-minute chunks. your mental attention is proven to begin declining after 30 mins and steeply decline after 50. if you’re not in a good work/productivity swing try a 5-10 minute break every 50 mins of uninterrupted studying, but this doesn’t mean that if you are working hard, you should stop the flow!
I hope these little tips can help boost your productivity a bit more, even if you don’t do all of them, maybe try to implement some of these into your study routine and see the difference a  small change can make
If you have any requests for posts or something you want me to talk about, feel free to leave a comment, msg, or ask!

☁️ best tips for online studying
how to self motivate & learn on your own when your university goes online
☁️ map out your entire course(s)
make a list of everything you need to know by the end of the term.
add HOW you will learn each outcome (textbook sections, online lecture videos e.t.c.).
make a list of all assignments you need to complete and their due dates.
☁️ make a longterm plan
add all important dates to a calendar. I personally prefer to put them on my phone and set alerts.
make your own due-dates of when you will have outcomes learned by, based on when you will have to understand those concepts to complete assignments and assessments.
☁️ set up a work-only space
set up an area in your home that is for study/work only! make this a place where you’re able to focus without distraction.
☁️ mimic a class schedule
attend any live online classes as they occur
take notes from any pre-recorded lectures when you would usually have that lecture in a day
OR: make your own class schedule with the same number of hours per course that you had during the regular semester
keeping to a regular schedule ensures you’re on track and keeping up
☁️ ask for help!
don’t be afraid to contact your instructors and TAs!
                                        ☁️ stay healthy & safe! ☁️

*gasp* the introduction post Hi! Hello, my name’s Sabrina, i’m 19 and this is me getting around to running an active study blog (it’s actually my 2nd time creating a studyblr, senior year kinda screwed up my plans the first time around).
Can you believe i procrastinated writing this post for 4 years? yeah, i know. Though if that isn’t like half of me idk what is. The rest 50% could be summed up with ▫︎ books ▫︎ coffee ▫︎ stationery ▫︎ bullet journaling ▫︎ plants and ▫︎ music.
I’m starting med school in October and i also enjoy learning languages, so this blog really is gonna be just a wild mix of everything from literature to biology. Original posts are (hopefully) coming soon :)
some less significant facts about yours truly:  ▫︎ i’m a fangirl and incurable perfectionist at heart ▫︎ will sacrifice self for a quality meme ▫︎ i rarely bother to capitalise my writing (it’s a miracle most of this post’s sentences begin with an uppercase letter, honestly)
that’s it, that’s the post guys, i’m tagging a few of my favourites below, i’m v excited to finally have this out there and hope to make new friends soon (i love meeting people so feel free to message me sometime:))

2nd YEAR of UNI
hey everyone! if you’re just stumbling along this post and are new to my blog, i’m going into my 2nd year of undergrad in bio for health sci a.k.a pre-med sorta deal! this is just going to be a little update into what courses i’ll be taking in the fall, what school looks like for me and some tips i have for incoming freshmans!
PICKING COURSES
my courses:
since i’m in a bio major over 50% of my courses are bio courses.....duh, but i’m also doing a chem minor and a business minor so here is what my 2nd year courses are looking like (full course load, 5 per semester).
human anatomy + physiology 1&2
animal physiology
cell + molecular bio
organic chem 1&2
intro genetics
stats
economics
you’ll notice if you’re a freshman that most first year courses are not what you actually want to take, then 2nd year is all of the pre-requisites for the courses that you want to take in 3rd + 4th year. i messed up my first year a bit, so i have a little less wiggle room for change in my schedule if i want to graduate in 4 years, but it’s all good!
scheduling:
so it can often be a little daunting when trying to plan your schedule with all of the various time slots for every course + the 2-3 different sections of a course (lec, tut, and pra/lab)
*i don’t use my google calendar for my regular calendar*
open a random week in google calendar
plug in the courses that only have 1 available time slot, add a star beside these so you know they can’t be moved
add the course time slots that are you fav/most optimum for you
play around with the other various times till you have a schedule that you like
create 1-3 schedules this way (courses can fill up quickly and you may not get all of them at the time you want)
i love google calendar for this because the time slots are easy to move around and colour code! some of you might want/need a little bit more in depth so i can create a specific post on this, just let me know, or you can check out my vlog which explains it a bit more as well
other tips:
it’s always okay to change your programs!! (ie. major, minor, specialist) don’t let the standard of “a 4-year degree” fool you into thinking you can’t take longer. most people that i know have to do summer courses or take another semester and that’s totally okay!! but if you know what you want to do for your programs, i’d suggest planning it out early so that you have room for and courses you have to retake and you have enough room for all of your requirements
my fall courses are all completely online as i’m sure many of yours will be as well, i’m looking at making a post about tips for studying online, so let me know if you’d like to see that!
LIFE BESIDES SCHOOL
as you all know with COVID19, the world has been a bit on lockdown; i had a lot planned for this summer, none of which is now happening and that’s totally okay! i think that this whole thing is really showing us how life can change at a moments notice and that we need to be adaptable.
i’m taking a break from all things school until maybe 2-3 weeks before i go back just to freshen up on things a bit.
i’m focusing right now on passion projects and things i never would have been able to do without the gift of time that COVID has actually given me.
                                                      • • • • • •
i’d love to create a chain of studyblrs doing an update like this, sharing their courses for the year, how they organize them, updates + more! so if you get tagged, add to this chain + tag 5 more studyblr accounts!!
i’m tagging: @stillstudies @studyblr @felix-studies @yume-studies @tbhstudying @studyingatsunrise
if you have any questions for me, my insta dms are always open as well as my ask box! i always answer all the questions in my ask, so don’t be afraid to hit me up there
hope this helps you a little bit and you get to learn a bit about me xx
