In the Heat of the Moment - Chpt.1

Summary: "Less than ten percent of domesticated species go into heats," accord to Tech and his research, and (un)fortunately, you're one of that ten percent. What else are you meant to do? Trapped during a heat cycle with five men - five willing men who are happy to help relieve you, but not all have the confidence to say so.

Notes: I've had this series in my drafts for a while. I keep adding to it here and there, and I figured I should start to post *something*. Not going to lie, I purely had myself in mind when writing this. I've been tired of trying to write for an audience, and instead, I'm just writing what I want to read. I also miss writing smut-centered fics, so let's scratch all of those itches at once!!

For context: Your heat is vaguely based off the heat cycles that you see in animals. Once a year, your species goes through a heat cycle, where you have a high physical urge to mate. These can last 1-2 months, depending on if/when you mate. I took a lot of inspiration from the sex pollen trope, kinda "fuck or die" but without the death. Just a lot of pain/discomfort. It's a craving, your body NEEDS to fuck or else you're going to get nasty about it. Very nasty. The lads won't be happy with your attitude, but how can they turn down such a pretty and desperate thing?

Chapter 1 - And here we are...

"I should not be doing this."

"I should certainly not be doing this."

"I understand that I am assisting you, but this? This is going to get me reported, shamed, decommissioned and-"

"Tech, please!" you whine. "Stop thinking out loud. I'm only going to report you if you hold back from what you're doing!"

Tech slams his hips forward, coming to a halt. "I apologise," he mutters, and tightens his grasp on your hips before returning to a brutal pace.

How did it come to this? On your knees, your elbows propped up on the Marauder's pilot chair - Tech's chair, in fact. Speaking of the devil, he's also on his knees behind you, with his cock slamming into your slick cunt.

Tech is 'assisting' you through your heat. Yes, because you're no standard species. The galaxy has a vast variety of beings out there, but "less than ten percent of domesticated species go into heats," accord to Tech and his research.

He had noticed that something was off with you recently - a slight temper, recklessness, lack of sleep - not to mention that you smell. Like, you really stink, so much so that even Wrecker has pointed out that, "you're getting as bad as me!"

And Hunter, poor Hunter, has kept his distance from you. Neither of you have commented on it, almost like a silent, mutual agreement. The poor man has heightened senses, and you can't tell if your scent is driving him the good or bad kind of crazy.

At least your scent is tolerable, a sweet, yet sweaty lingering flavour. Tech had begun silently researching after noticing that your 'new behaviour' had stuck around for a few days, with no intention of disappearing, which brought him to a series of detailed articles about ruts and mating.

Well, the articles weren't about your species specifically, seeing as there was little to be found on that topic, but it gave Tech more than enough to understand what your body is currently going through.

You're horny, to put it blankly. You're pent-up, frustrated, and desperate to be filled.

The Batch had left for a supply run, leaving you and Tech behind to guard (and repair) the ship, which gave him the perfect opportunity to speak to you alone. He began explaining how he has done some research, and "somewhat understands the difficult time you are going through. Perhaps I can assist you in some way?"

Tech said that line with the intention of giving you medical assistance, supplements or whatever, but the pathetic whine that you let out caused his cock to harden, even more so when you shifted your thighs together and innocently asked, "are you suggesting that you can satisfy my natural urges, Tech?"

Back to the present. Tech's eyes drift to the side when he notices a light flashing on his datapad, resting on the co-pilot's seat. "The others are on their way back," he informs you through gritted teeth.

There's a silent and mutual agreement to keep this matter private, seeing as it would... complicate everything. But Tech had already let some information slip when Crosshair caught him researching ruts. "Do I dare ask?" Crosshair had pried, but it doesn't take a genius to put two and two together.

Another hard slam of Tech's hips causes you to let out a heavy moan, and with it, your upper body practically collapses on the pilot's chair. You're fucked out, debauched, yet still craving more. "Where shall I finish?" Tech sputters behind you.

"Inside," is all you can whimper.

Tech's hips come to a halt, "I may be willing to assist you during your heat, but I am not willing to impregnate you," he comments with a raised finger.

Peering over your shoulder, you explain, "I can't interbreed."

"Oh," Tech blankly sighs, and his finger softens before returning to your hip. "In that case, I'll happily finish inside," he cheerfully smiles.

And with that, he's slamming into you again, his brows furrowing from the pure intensity of it all. It doesn't take much for you to climax, just a few messy rubs on your clit, and you're cumming on Tech's cock with a series of pathetic moans escaping your lips.

You watch as he clasps his codpiece back into place, followed by correcting a few pieces of armour that have drifted astray during his wild turn of events. You needed urgent care, and Tech didn't see much point in removing his armour when he's simply providing assistance.

There's a moment of silence, an awkward pause, and Tech breaks it by nervously rubbing the back of his neck as he states, "feel free to ask for assistance when you next need it."

"Oh..." you stutter. "Yeah, thank you, Tech."

Like the fool that you are, you push up onto tiptoes to plant a light kiss on Tech's lips, before making your way through the Marauder, ready to splash your face with cold water in the refresher.

Everything happened so fast. You were painfully aroused, and ate Tech up like a three-course meal. Your hormonal urge has been filled, but from experience, you know that this is only a temporary fix. Hopefully, before you know it, your yearly rut will be over, and you'll be back for to your standard, witty self.

As for now, you'll need to tolerate it, and redeem your Tech voucher whenever the time is right.

After coming to your senses in the confinement of the refresher, you shimmy out to find that the others have returned, shopping bags in hand. "You look tired," Echo comments as soon as he locks eyes with you, and you're unsure if that's a statement or an insult.

"That's what happens when you spend the afternoon doing repairs," you sarcastically reply, and Echo rewards you with an eye roll.

Wrecker is quick to drag your attention away as he begins going through the fascinating new foods that he's brought, all thanks to your Republic credits. You're starved, hungrier than usual during your troubled times, and before you can pick out a treat and tuck in, somebody else pulls your attention away.

"Here-" Hunter interrupts. He chucks a small prescription bottle at you, the tablets rattling as they come into contact with your hand, and you rotate the bottle to read its label. "For your... new problem," Hunter explains before heading down the ship, obviously trying to keep his distance, even more so seeing as he can't simply hand the tablets over to you.

Wrecker can be heard sniffing the air, and proudly comments, "you don't stink any more!"

How innocent he is, unaware that you've been given assistance to your 'medical problem.' "Yeah," you say with a soft laugh. "Scrubbed extra hard in the refresher this morning."

"I still think your problem is stress related..." Wrecker begins, and waffles on about his thoughts and opinions on the matter. All the while, your eyes gloss over the label, the cure to your problems sitting in the palm of your hand. Yet, your mind is asking the same silly question over and over.

Background context

First of all: a concession. I know every Voldemort-related passage in Harry Potter like the back of my hand. If you don’t think Bellamort can be found in the subtext, you’re either biased or due for another close reading. Unlike Tomione (which almost always depends on a complete fabrication of their personalities) and Tomarry (which requires a significant tone shift from the books), you can easily write Bellamort as an extension of canon.

I don’t hate Bellamort because it’s nonsense. I hate it because it is not nonsense; it feels very real. Voldemort’s and Bellatrix’s relationship, in the canon text, is that of Master and Servant—and for me personally, any such dynamic between a man and a woman is disgusting and I have absolutely no desire to read it.

Here's some specific icks it gives me.

Fanon Bellatrix is bullshit; her real form is repulsive, whiny, and pitiful

There’s this common fanon misconstruction of Bellatrix that portrays her as a thoughtful femme fatale who enjoys a close, intimate relationship to Voldemort on nearly equal terms. I find this tacky at best.

Really, Bellatrix is a pathetic, sniveling wimp who would crawl around on her hands and knees and bark like a dog if Voldemort asked her to do so. She’s not strong; she’s weak-willed and pathetic. She's the kind of pathetic woman who accompanies a man on his killing spree and kills her own kids for said man’s affection.

This passage from Order of the Phoenix pretty concisely captures their dynamic.

Also, Tomarrymort writers love to make her past love of Voldemort and (*pukes*) it makes my tummy ache

Ever find yourself reading a fascinating Tomarry fic only for—midway in—Voldemort to reveal his true love is Bellatrix?* Or wax poetic about how beautiful she is, how special to him she is?

It's 2024. I immediately close the fic when this happens. If I’m reading a Tomarrymort fic, I don’t give a fuck about Voldemort’s past domestic abuse trysts with the most spineless woman in the entire HP series.

And the kicker is . . . for what? Because Bellatrix proved herself to Voldemort by licking his boot and wiping his asshole? Please do not try and convince me she is a sinister spooky gal, she plainly isn’t. She’s an embarrassing blithering pissant who does not foil any of Voldemort’s traits.

And PLEASE do not try and convince me she offers Voldemort something Harry doesn't in terms of being an equal partner or someone he respects, because I cannot fathom how the woman who squeals "MASTER MASTER PLEASE I'M SORRY DON'T HURT ME - I'll wash your anus with my tongue, PLEASE master!" is somehow more respectable than brave, upright, dignified Harry.

*I’m NOT referring to a specific fic. I have been in this fandom since 2011, and I have read it dozens of times, on FF and AO3 alike.

Lastly - they're not a pretty picture

I'm just going to say it... you know those people you kinda knew in high school who now post about their kinky sex life on Facebook? The girl who posts "Daddy 🥺 ?" and the dude responds "Yes, kitten?" in the comments? The chick who has no shame in posting her wolf-tail butt plug or joining a bunch of kinkster groups?

The girl who later ends up getting the shit beaten out of her by said repulsive scrote (no shock) and posting about it on Facebook only to repeat the cycle again and again?

That's literally what Bellamort makes me think about. It's not even like it's deeply upsetting so much as it's disappointing: A reminder of the lowest very promising, very beautiful women can get for men who ought to be curb-stomped and thrown in a ditch.

Tbh the best ending for Bellatrix in canon would've been if she disemboweled and slaughtered Voldemort for ruining her fucking life with his ridiculous tacky cult. He's my baby, but he's a vile scrote first, and I wish Bellatrix had realized what a toxic, life-draining narcissistic psychopathic moron he was. But alas, she too was a pathetic worm.

How DCLA characters read + write fanfictions

Won’t do everyone but will do many.

Violetta can read all kinds of fics, although she knows her limits and if she gets uncomfortable, she stops reading. But, if she finishes a fic, she leaves the most heartwarming comment known to man. When she writes herself, she plans it out beforehand and basically writes the wholeass fic before posting the first chapter. Every title and author’s note has a song lyrics.

Ludmila refuses to read anything over 5000 words (unless it’s multichapter, but in that case she wants every chapter to be around 2000 words max). HOWEVER, she writes the LONGEST fics known to man. Her longest fic is currently 140+ chapters, the original plot disappeared LONG ago and now it’s simply characters doing slice of life things. But she has a dedicated reader fanbase that sometimes have rereads and they make memes and quote stuff daily.

Luna never checks how long fics are and have accidentally ended up reading a 100k fic in one night. She does read all kinds, but that’s because she doesn’t check the tags or ratings either, so poor girl has seen things… She also writes long comments that are just filled with emojis and exclamation points. She does post fics, but it’s very spread out and it’s rare that a fic gets updated. She posts new fics the second she got a new idea and then never update them. Her longest running fic got up to 5 chapters and that was only because she was very hyperfocused on that very fic. All fics are very slice of life and G-rated. She also very rarely writes any romance. If there’s romance then that’s not the main focus at all.

Ámbar only reads angsty stuff. She needs to FEEL something. She has read the most heavy, gory and graphic fics with a straight face. She never leaves comments but she’s there… reading it all… She also is not capable to write any fic herself without it being angsty. She has tried to cut it down, but every fic eventually has to change the rating to M or E. And… yes, she has 100% written smut.

Bia does not write fics herself, but she does like to read some others and often draws fanart of their fics. She’s known in her fandoms to be ”the fanfic artist” and everyone secretly hopes she’s gonna draw scenes from their fics.

Camila reads anything and everything, but instead of stopping when she doesn’t like a fic, she finishes it and then leaves a comment telling them she didn’t like it. In her words, they should KNOW she didn’t like it and why. She has BEEF with fic writers because of this. She also found Ludmila’s fanfic account and she LOVES to leave cryptid comments hinting that she knows her irl. With her own fics, she loves to create shock for the readers. She often kills of a random character, make people cheat, make people break up… and she loves confusing people, especially if they point out they are confused - then she’ll confuse them even more!

Pixie doesn’t read others fics because she is extremely picky with what she likes. So, that’s why she only writes them herself. It’s often VERY self-insertive, you notice she often writes about specific characters and it feels like she’s projecting whatever is going on in her life on them. Her readers often feel pretty touched by her fics though, thinking she just makes them feel so ”real”, and she only gets nice comments

Yam primarily reads and writes anything gay, ofc. She’s in a mix of fandoms, so the bigger fandoms are usually the ones she reads more in, and then she writes fics herself for the smaller fandoms, who would need some fics. She says she can read anything, but the second a fic gets a bit steamy she gets awkward about it and kinda has a hard time continuing to read.

Nina reads the most stuff, but she prefers reading romantic fics, especially about ships she likes. She has no problems reading smut, although writing it herself? No, she gets a bit more self-aware and can’t really do it. Since we’re on an agreement Nina is an author later, I think a lot of her fics are kind of ”first drafts” of her later published books (where she ofc has changed the names of everyone).

Francesca loves reading romance fics a lot, especially the fluffy ones. She also writes primarily romantic fics herself, although she often takes them down because she didn’t like how they turned out. So people often ask ”why did you remove your fic?”, especially because people generally like her stuff. But, if she doesn’t like it, she takes it down. She’s also known for uploading the same fic like 4 times and then removing it again from the website.

Helena was an active fic reader and writer when she was younger, and then sort of fell out of it. But then, sometime in her adulthood, she got back into it again. She often spends time looking for old fics she either remembered reading when she was younger or find some new fics she missed out on while she stopped reading. She also found an old fic she posted in like 2007 and then decided to update it with a new chapter all these years later, and literally started her author’s note with ”hi so I lost my memory for a solid 10 years and built my life back up again here I am! Hope you enjoy the new chapter!”

Maxi often reads his own friends fics because he’s supportive. He also really much likes to read crackfics simply because he thinks they are funny. He himself often writes chatfics because he thinks it’s a good flow in them. Also because he’s more into dialouge than description.

Simón is a person that likes to read fanfictions out loud. He’s the only one in the roller band who’s into fics, and he often finds the most odd ones to read out loud to his friends. He has read them as bedtime stories to Nico and Pedro, and sometimes him and Luna read a fic together out loud, taking turns doing voices for the characters. The only fanfictions he has written himself are self-inserts about himself and his friends.

Benicio never writes fics, and only reads some to mock them, only to drop comments like this

Diego only reads Ludmila’s fics and she does not know that he knows she has a fanfiction account. But he figured out it was her right away. He does not write fics himself.

Naty does not read a lot of fics, only occasionally her friends’ ones. She and Camila conspire that Ludmila has put OCs in her fics that are supposed to be parodies of them, but they can’t be sure yet. Naty has written probably the best fanfiction ever, but she does not post it because she’s not confident enough about it. So, it just sits on a document on her computer, unaware of the power it would have if it was posted.

Celeste read a lot of gay fics when she was younger and was like ”haha I don’t know why I’m doing this… why do I feel like this…” And then she kinda started to work on a gay fic herself, about a character Celeste personally felt connected to, figuring out her sexuality. And as Celeste wrote, she kinda projected her own feelings on it and realised her own sexuality while writing it.

Also- do yall need mods? I can’t be like, hella active, but I can throw shit into the queue when I have the energy.

Since this blog is so new, I'm still kinda feeling out how the tagging system should work. In the near future, I'll have a pinned post that fleshes out and solidifies my policies on that.

But in general, I'm thinking anything like extreme kinks, violence, dub/noncon, yknow, the stuff that typically gets tagged with warnings anywhere, will be tagged. Being a degenerate myself, sometimes I forget what offends people... so in addition, followers can request tags for more specific things that might not otherwise get tagged and I'll try my best to keep up with that. I'm also considering having an additional overall tag that would cover all of this, in case people wanna just block everything without having to figure out what all the different tags are called.

As for hard no topics... any confessions about underage characters, normal (eg. not wildshaped, not magically intelligent and capable of consent) animals, or real life people will simply not be published. Also, any confessions that are aggressively critical of certain ships, kinks, fandom works or characters will be avoided. If the criticism is funny and playful, it may get through with just a content warning, but I guess we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. I just don't want this blog to devolve into fandom slapfighting if I can help it.

Eventually I may need mods and will open up mod applications, but for now I'm able to keep up with the ask box and don't mind running things by myself. Thanks for the offer, if you want to reveal yourself off anon I will consider you first if and when I'm seeking more mods!

Trope grading game

Thank you @artsyunderstudy and @hushed-chorus for tagging me in this.

Actually took me a little bit after work to fill this out as I don't usually think too heavily about why I like a trope, and sometimes I'm in the mood for a specific trope and will look for those tags exclusively, but most of the time I'll read anything that isn't a big nope for me.

Rules: How much do these tropes affect your decision to click on a fic?

-10 -> very dissuaded 0 - don’t care either way +10 -> very enticed nope -> if it’s a hard no and you’d never click on a fic with that tag or or you even have the tag blocked or you’d insta click out of the fic if it wasn’t tagged Bonus points for explaining the rating and whether it’s conditional.

Age gap: -9

I wanted to say nope to this one, I’ve never really been in a ship/fandom that had any major age gaps, but ones with larger gaps or when one person is barely legal (18-20) it just puts me right off and gives me creep vibes. However, I didn’t give it a nope because there are some smaller age gaps that are fine, like Penny and Shep, if I remember correctly she’s 19 and he’s 22 when they met, an age gap like that is fine

Codependency: +5

Kinda hard to explain this one, it changes with the context but I do lean more towards being enticed

Obsession/Possessiveness, jealousy: +5

In cases like Simon and Baz, yes, 100% into that, but when it gets toxic or violent then I want nothing to do with it, there is nothing romantic about that

Opposites (grumpy/sunshine etc): +3

As long as that's not their defining trait, then I do enjoy seeing different dynamics where the characters balance each other out, plus I find even relationships irl tend to have some opposite differences to balance them out

Enemies to lovers, Enemies with benefits: +10

Absolutely, I eat this shit for breakfast, but it does have to be done right (like Snowbaz) they have to bond and actually fall for each other, not just be physical attraction and that's it, you can’t just have the characters hating each other and literally trying to murder the other only to turn around and bang it out

Friends with benefits: 0

I’m indifferent, I mean if it ends with them being lovers and there's some angst then hella yeah, but if it’s just friends banging it out for no reason and then happen to date because of it then no thank you

Sex to feelings: 0

As someone who is demisexual, this is a bit hard for me to grasp, but that doesn’t mean I won’t read it, sometimes I’m just really in the mood for smut and this can have the potential for some good hurt/comfort

Fake dating/relationship: +9

Now I really love this if done well, and I have read some really good Snowbaz fics with this premise and wish there were more (I may attempt to write one myself but idk if I’d be able to do the trope justice), but it can sometimes feel a little surface level and frustrating in the “why don’t you just communicate and everything would be better” kind of way

Friends to lovers: +6

This can be really fluffy, or extremely angsty and I’m down for both

Found Family: 0

I like the concept in theory, especially for Simon, his friends are his family (and once he learns about his actual family them as well) but I see this as more of a platonic thing and not so much as a romantic trope, and it can a lot of times be used to gloss over the trauma from biological family when found family isn’t some magic bandaid

Hurt/Comfort: +10 For everyone who’s read carry on, do I really need to explain this one

Love Triangle: 0

Depends on the ship, technically there was a love triangle between Agatha, Simon and Baz. I like it in a more light-hearted way where no one gets hurt

Poly, open relationships: -5

I’m perfectly fine with open relationships, and certain situations get a pass (Someone wicked for example) but I’m pretty monogamous and when reading a ship I usually look just for those two characters. I will say in previous fandoms I have read really good poly relationships so I might read it

Mistaken/hidden identity: +5

I think this would be a funny trope that could be done more, if done right. I have read a few wrong number texting fics that I will count as mistaken identity and they can be great

Monsterfucking: +5

Depends, I have to be in the mood for smut and it has to be written well because it can very easily turn me away

Pregnancy: -9

Again, another one I wanted to nope on, I click out of anything with mpreg; that just isn’t my thing, if it’s a hot couple or the pregnancy is through surrogacy or something then I have no problem with it.

Second Chance: +10

I need this, this works with hurt comfort. Break-up fics destroy me so I need a second chance trope to mend my heart

Slowburn: +10

No explanation needed

Soulmates: +5

Can be really cheesy which is fine, but if it’s cheesy and just not written well then I have a hard time getting into it, but when it is done well then I love it.

I’ll do my best to find 9 songs, was it? That remind me of a ship

“Viento”-Caifanes — Cordelia/Gale (bg3) just the astral imagery and wanting time to slow down for a moment. This song is when they’re both unsure about the future outcome, but want to exist together in their little bubble for a little longer.

“Eres”- Cafe Tacvba — another Cordelia/Gale from Gale’s perspective. Just the utter devotion is very Gale to me. He devotes his body, mind, and soul, and wants that energy returned. That like. Mutual devotion to each other. The lines “[you are] my salvation, my hope, and my faith” gets to me.

“sisko älä pelkää”- pehmoaino — not a romantic ship, but this does make me think of Cordelia & Wyll platonic friendship. In Cordelia’s canon, they were best friends since childhood. The events of the game really fracture their relationship, and they feel this growing distance where they used to be so close.

“Dos galaxias”- Indios — another Cordelia & Wyll straining friendship. Just confused and hurt because what happened? They used to be so close. Cordelia who sees him like a brother, so why is he now so far away that they might as well be two galaxies.

“Dime Como Tú Quieras”- Los Mesoneros — haven’t talked about this pairing to anyone except maybe 2 people, but Ever/Aria T’Loak (Mass Effect 2) this is We-both-need-a-distraction-from-our-exes, no-we-won’t-talk-about-it sex

“Antes de Ti”- Diamante Eléctrico - Ever/James when they get together post-canon. Just Ever’s bad reputation with relationships just turning to ash, because they want so much of what used to scare them (real intimacy). All the sugary sweet romantic things they used to avoid, they now seek (and enjoy) from him.

“Between Two Points (feat. Swan)”- The Glitch Mob, Swan — Cordelia/Gale. It’s a little horny, but also a little dark because the weight of what they must do is so heavy. She projects confidence to ease everyone else’s anxieties (seeing her so self-assured inspires), but they very much don’t know what will happen. These two are so thirsty for each other

“Hug”- SEVENTEEN — Cordelia/Gale. Specifically this is Gale comforting Cordelia after she sacrifices her magic. They love each other so much T-T

I have few blorbos guys sorry! And some of my favorite blorbo pairings are with other friend’s OCs, so I’m really struggling to find a last song.

“Try to be”- Blue Hawaii —So while not a ship song, I’ll share this song that’s kinda like a character study? I think it really captures some of the struggles that Ever has with their mother. Never living up to her expectations, realizing that they don’t want to even try to, anymore.

Bungou Stray Dogs, Haikyuu, and Trigun lately, but if you go back far enough in my fic career you’d find Hetalia, Black Butler, Doctor Who, Soul Eater, and who knows what else I’ve forgotten.

4. What are your top five fics by kudos?

First Scar, Rough Nights, Last Young Renegade, Wish You Were Here, and Time Enough.

However if we ask instead what my favourites are it would have to be:

When the Sun Goes Black (Bungou Stray Dogs, soukoku, canon divergence, the one where Corruption leaves Chuuya blind)

this masterpiece will (tear you apart), (BSD, soukoku, canon divergence, the one where Dazai gets kidnapped and traipses through alternate realities)

Wish You Were Here, (BSD, soukoku, the one that splits from canon after Dead Apple and Chuuya wrestles with Arahabaki in his psyche. Yes I’m aware Arahabaki isn’t canonically sentient or sapient but look I wrote this before we knew that for sure and also it’s a fun concept)

Yes, always! I love the community aspect of sharing things online and I absolutely adore when people talk to me about the things I’m already vibrating over.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Uhhhhhhh probably Home With You since it’s about a twenty year old dying of a degenerative disease but to be fair most of my work is angsty and picking an angstiest is likely up to interpretation and perspective. (In other words let me know which one you would call my saddest if you have an opinion!)

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

See I don’t really do happy endings in much of a traditional sense, but I’m gonna say Perfect Disaster. They get their shit figured out in that one!

8. Do you get hate on fic?

Not any that I recall!

9. Do you write smut?

Not this year I haven’t but generally yes I do!

10. Do you write crossovers?

Nope, haven’t touched crossovers in any sense really since I was twelve, they just never really were my jam.

Not that I’m aware of!

Not that I know of!

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Technically yes. However it was never posted anywhere and I would massively overhaul it if I ever did try to get it out publicly.

14. What’s your all-time favourite ship?

I feel like I’m obligated to say soukoku lol, who else has taken up seven years of my life?

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but probably won’t?

Let’s be honest, probably the other two parts of Tell Me Pretty Lies. My sister wants the Kuroo/Akaashi fic but it just was not working when I tried it and it’s been years now since I’ve written haikyuu.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Internal dialogue I think! Thought processes and poetics, I think there’s often nice bits of cadence and rhythm to my work!

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Plot. I very rarely plot out fully and more often than not write without any plan at all, or only a vague outline of one. So anything requiring heavy lining up is often not there as much as I’d like. I’m a very go with the flow sort of person when it comes to the specifics in fics (which is funny because I can control everything in fic, but the only time I plan and plot consistently is in ttrpgs when I have to guess at what my friends will do)

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

If you do it well it’s a tool, if you do it badly you seem a fool. I use it on occasion, and I use it often in live play roleplaying, but time and place and reason.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

I think it was Black Butler back on ye old Wattpad but my sister insists it was Inuyasha since my “original fiction” as a kid was heavily ripping off my favourite anime at the time of writing it.

20. Favourite fic you’ve written?

Answered kinda above but honestly I’m really still so fond of When the Sun Goes Black, and All My Love/Nothing Ever Counts. I feel like my prose was just really very good in those!

You should! I’ve seen other authors post fic rec threads. Mainly on twitter tho (I refuse to call it x, will forever be twitter to me). They post a brief summary and a link to the fic. That’s how I found some of my favs!! Yeah, for sure would have to be confident that the right crowd would be the only one to see recs. Wouldn't want it to reach the wrong audience 😬

Omg, it would turn out like those memes where the premise is when your cousins are over and you guys end up laughing instead of sleeping while trying to not wake up your mother 🤣. Don’t say such nice things!!!! 🥺🥺🥺🥺 You fr would never be able to get rid of me then. I’d be one of those annoying small flying bugs that never seem to have anything better to do than bother you (this fr will be me 🪰🪰🪰🪰🪰 lol). Haha, not us having that cheesy, cliche drug deal scenes in the movies but with fic recs instead. What are your top tags/fandoms??? Or better yet what is an absolute no for you? If you have specific preferences I can comb through the fics I have saved/bookmarked that you might be interested in or at very least narrow down what you’re more likely to enjoy

Well if you say that I definitely do have recs but they aren’t exactly fanfics and really depends how you feel about the genre as a whole…..these books have 100% destroyed my soul but I’ll rec them in a heartbeat (it's what my main account centered around). They hold such a special place in my heart (really helped me out in my teen years), but I am careful with who I share them with due to past experiences. I shared them with, who I thought was a friend at the time, but they obvs didn’t care which made me feel like I was too forceful sharing my passion; like,, sorry if I came off as too much I was just excited to share….

Not that I think you’ll do that and I’ve toned down excitement levels when first sharing, unless the person is just as passionate as me lol, but nevertheless all I ask from others is that if you truly aren’t interested just say so in the beginning instead of leading me on 😅. We can always find something else that we share a passion in. Idk, I don’t mean to sound vague/guarded but that experience still haunts me sometimes…..(I feel like I brought down the vibes, I didn’t mean for it to get so negative at the end I swear 😔). Anyway, I’d be down to drop the titles if you want

Make the world ready lol. There’s got to be at least one person out there waiting with open hands, right? Then again fics always choose to publish on their own time. Some of my fics have definitely been published out of order. I’ll have them lined up this one publishes at this time, that one publishes next , etc but there’s always that defiant fic and honestly at that point I’m like ‘you do you’

Maybe I will… I've been thinking about it for a bit, and I've seen other people do it on here. (XD Omg! Same! I don't call it X either. Not when the url is still Twitter) D: Oh, I did not think of that, though! That kinda makes me nervous to do it now. Hmm… I don't think any of my current followers on here would be that rude, but other people on this website I do not trust. Tumblr has certainly become more aggressive and hateful recently than I've ever seen it in the past.

XD Omg! Aww, but why not? I don't think you're annoying! And you're certainly not bothering me! I've been popping back in occasionally to see if you've answered, haha. XD Omg! Dealing fic recs! Okay, uh… Hmm… That's a tough one. I usually mostly read reader-inserts as of late, but I'm always open to discovering new ships and there are certain characters I multiship like no one's business (like Tohru, Zelda, Link, and Haruhi off the top of my head). There's a lot of fics I still gotta re-find concerning canon x canon, and it makes me so sad that just today I removed several from my bookmarks that the author of had deleted. I'll read any kind of ratings G-E, and I like everything from fluff to angst to smut to humor, platonic or romantic. For E rated fics, anal stuff isn't really my thing, nor spanking or the dirty talk that involves daddy kink or names like 'bitch' 'slut' etc. I'm not a fan of inflation or food kink (in like, the extreme feederism you see in r34 art. I can handle the whipped cream on the tiddies or pouring wine on someone's body and drinking it stuff, but I don't like force feeding or overfeeding until the character throws up or pressing/squishing their stomach to make them throw up, which I have seen in fic before. Not my thing), anything to do with feces or piss, or hardcore descriptive gore. Descriptive body horror tends to make me nauseous, and while I have powered through gorey irl books, I do not like necrophilia or wound fucking, which I discovered the latter was a thing pretty recently. And I'm not very fond of bugs more often than not, though I'll make an exception for Cell.

Other than that, I'm pretty open-minded and can't really think of any other hard no's off the top of my head, though I would prefer no recommended Trigun fics until after I finish FTPOF and maybe it's manga variant. I've been kinda holding off looking back through the Trigun fandom now on Ao3 because I'm scared I'll see something in someone's fic that I really want or plan to use in mine and psyche myself out of using it or change it because I'll be worried about idea theft claims. It's like, right now, even if I still get idea theft claims ever, I won't be worried about it 24/7, you know? XD I won't feel like I'm stealing anything if I don't know it exists currently in someone else's fic! Oh gosh,… As for fandoms, I've been in quite a few… I don't think I could possibly list them all. I haven't really checked out stuff on Ao3 yet (x reader. There's way more I haven't checked out for canonxcanon just yet): Naruto, The Legend of Zelda (but please no ToTK spoilers just yet. Rauru be lookin fine tho 👀), Undertale, Claymore, Pokemon, Fruits Basket, Black Butler, Death Note, OHSHC, Wolf's Rain, Spider-verse, FNAF, Psycho-Pass,… I used to also read oc / oc when it came to monster fics. I love those. As for canonxcanon, other fandoms I enjoy are: Bleach, Dragon Ball, Fullmetal Alchemist, Detroit: Become Human, Yu-Gi-Oh, Transformers,… Uh, can't think of anymore rn. ^^; At least not ones I know are probably pretty decently sized on Ao3.

Books, you say? 👀 Depending on what they are, I might not have access to them for a while as I can no longer shop online at the moment, but if they're something I could potentially find locally, I'd be willing to check them out. D': Aw, I'm sorry! I've definitely felt that way in the past, feeling too intense about my interests, and I've toned down a lot when sharing things irl because of this. DX Oh, gosh yes! I wish people would just be more upfront about their disinterest! I even had a so-called "friend" once lie to me about checking out something that I was talking to them about, leading me on and making me think they watched it too. And… I would have just not talked about it if they'd told me upfront they didn't care enough to actually check it out or hear about it; we could have used that time to be talking about something else, but no. You're okay, I promise! Being vague/guarded is totally valid after an experience like that! (You're okay, don't worry! You didn't bring the mood down or make it too negative! I was worried that I did with some of my earlier responses, and I'm sorry and apologize if that's true.)

But yes, I'd love to hear about it! I like reading physical books just as much as fanfiction, and I really love the fantasy genre with a dash of realism, but I'll read about any book my mom and I are given which are often your generic romance and suspense books you can find almost anywhere with the usually white and red covers for the romance and the purple and black for suspense. Right now I'm actually finally giving Pride and Prejudice a chance (as I've heard so much good about it and we had a school library give it to us) alongside The Hunger Games books and a generic cowboy romance called One Lucky Cowboy. I've also been dabbling in Nancy Friday's spicy women and men's fantasy novels for smut inspiration. Usually the only reason I'll put down a book is if there's like, hard no stuff for me which has only happened twice so far? A book about witches scared me with the details it went into with the witchcraft (I can't recall the title) and I could not handle the start of the first The Vampire Chronicles book and dropped it. But I could handle The Mountain King by Rick Hautala, Blood Trail by Tanya Huff, Endless Night by Richard Laymon (which was arguably the most fucked up book I've read so far), the first The Passage book by Justin Cronin and I've even made it up to A Dance With Dragons in the ASOIAF series (part listening, part actually reading) and listened to a lot of the Chaos Seeds (up to book 8: Monsters. Sion my beloved :')) books on Audible.

XD Trust me, I'd love to, but fate is stopping me from getting that particular fic file back and has been for over a year now. If it can't be recovered, I do fully intend to make the best of what I had on my USB that I so foolishly did not back up that night from the temporary laptop I'd been using which would not boot up the next morning. I do intend to post it one way or another if I can, but… I really would love to get the version I'd been polishing that should still be on the hard drive. :O Wait, really? XD Omg! Sometimes, I tell ya, that's just how it be. I dunno what it is. They like, seem to have a mind of their own sometimes.

Which,… The movies cut out a lot of details and a lot of it is hard to convey movie-wise mostly because it's all in Katniss' head, all her inner thoughts and feelings. She's very stone faced outwardly because she has to be in the books, and that's often how she comes across in the movies. It's all an act, though. Her inner feelings are very loud inside, but she has to be strong and it sucks because she's still just a teenager.

re: your recent post i’ve found s4 of the vampire shadows show (not writing the acronym to avoid showing up in tags) has been really disappointing so far and has had some of the weakest episodes to date for the entire series. but i won’t post my opinions on s4 to the internet for fear of people getting wayyy too mad about it

like every time i look in the tag i get the feeling it’s one of those fandoms that allows ‘positivity’ only and is laser focused on shipping and shipping only, which is why i avoid that fandom like the plague :(

obviously other viewers don’t have to agree with me but i find it interesting that tumblr fans of the show seem blind to this season’s glaring flaws (in my opinion). to me a lack of any criticism whatsoever is a sign that there’s something wrong with the way people engage in fan discussion, you know?

not sure if this is your issue with that fandom as well but ya

yeah same its been fun but the show is showing some wear and tear. and like theres only so much material for a comedy show about vampires with that specific set up so its starting to feel a bit stale. and like re: my last post, more than just the writing being kinda weak, the show feels like its fandomising itself. and maybe this is a boomer opinion but i do not want art or media to reflect the wishes of fandom (in this case shipping preferences), i want to consume a piece of art without being reminded that i am the audience and the author is aware of me and wants to cater to my whims. i want to see YOUR vision thats why im consuming the art you made. if i wanted my artistic preferences reflected back at me i would make art myself. and fandom seems to have reached a point where creators have become aware of how marketable they are & are consciously taking "fandom" into account when producing art. like obviously artists have always been aware of their audiences, i know this isnt a new process, but with shows like this one and the gay pirate show there seems to be a conscious effort to intentionally produce a fandom and generate a response to a piece of media via fandom norms and trends. idk if im making any sense and im not like an anti fandom person or whatever i just dislike that fandom itself has become this thing that is slowly being subsumed into larger media production as a thing to consciously contend with. i like being removed from the author of a piece of work and want my enjoyment and critical reflection on it to be wholly separate from them, in a place they will never see

idk i have contradictory opinions on this because i do enjoy engaging with people online about media (obviously) and participating in fandom spaces for fun, but like i dont really want it to be taken seriously outside of posting about it online

I don’t religiously listen to jatp as much as I used to, but I regularly rotate songs through the one playlist i made specifically for rotating songs so I don’t get bored of it and abandon it—it’s become my go to playlist for everything now

4. Career Day - The Format

It’s been exactly 10 years since I last listened to this band bc it was attached to bad memories, but now I’ve been rediscovering their music again without feeling like utter shite and it’s SO FREAKING GOOOOOOOOOD

I don’t want to add onto the post I just saw because honestly the OP has been through enough but like....... it’s kinda fucked up that fanfiction authors (including myself!) have been conditioned to have an automatic fear response to getting comments on certain fics (or their fics in general) because of people who feel the need to shit on the fic in question in the comments section. Every time I get a comment on The Hero’s Descent, I get so anxious I have to ask a friend to read the comment first just in case its bad. Don’t get me wrong, I love getting positive comments! But when we talk about comments as fic writers and what we do/don’t want to see, this is why we tell people that criticism - constructive or not - is never appreciated unless it’s specifically asked for (and usually, a random stranger on the internet won’t be the person we ask!). There is a real human on the other end that is going to have to read what you said about something they poured hours and hours of their time, effort, energy and creativity into.

If you don’t like a fic, just leave. Just hit that back button and go - yes, even if it makes you angry. Just leave, because that fic was obviously not for you and no one is forcing you to read it. That’s okay, you don’t have to like everything you read on the internet - in fact, I’d be astonished if you did - but you’re doing no one a favour by ranting in the tags or the comments about the ship you didn’t like or the plot twist you hated or because it didn’t adhere to your personal headcanon or popular fanon (yes, I’ve seen this argument sigh).

And if an author doesn’t respond graciously to your comment shitting all over their fic, don’t be surprised your opinion was unwelcome and, probably, nothing the author hasn’t heard to death before from assholes who think they’re entitled to say what they like without consequences. Keep that shit to yourself, thank you.

There’s been lots of random blogs I get all pissed off about, like the numerous t*rf blogs I’ve blocked or the ppl who say creepy shit in the it tag (cough cough the person who wrote the pedophilia incest fic). But I think I’ll do the ranting about a blog that you’re all too familiar with 🤡. I won’t name drop but I’m sure ppl could figure out easily enough

They made many angry rants about how shipping jesse/lake was super toxic and creepy and I mean, ehhhh. I’m not too into that ship but I’m not gonna argue that cuz it just is a major stretch. It’s okay to just not like something you don’t have to make up shit lol

Bouncing off the first point they were very protective of lake as a character and got really heated if you didn’t see them as a lesbian specifically. Which I can kindaaaa agree in a sense? Like lake is canon butch so when ppl make them feminine it’s pretty shit cuz they as a character don’t feel comfortable with that and it makes me wonder why people are aching to put a butch in girly clothes (I know why but still). I personally like to see lake as a trans guy cuz mostly I’m starved for that shit cuz we have literally nothing and I really relate to a lot of what lake goes through in the season. But hm, I’m not gonna act like that’s the one true way to interpret this character. There’s evidence in the text that can point in many directions. And yeah I have my own hcs for these characters and theres hcs other people have that I don’t like but if it’s nothing harmful or blatantly untrue then I’m gonna mind my own business since sexuality/gender wise these characters aren’t actually anything and it’s all up to interpretation

They said that ace hcs were sexualizing minors and talked over the numerous ace ppl that told them that straight up wasn’t true because THEY HAVE EXPERIENCE BEING ACE

Really hated kez to like an absurd degree and was so peeved at her existence. I think it’s just really funny akdbsks

Acted like god cuz they wrote some of the first b4 fics and they were severely out of character obviously cuz they wrote them BEFORE THE DAMN SEASON CAME OUT AAAA but despite that they popularized some shitty trends in how ppl saw Ryan and Min and definitely popularized shitty homophobia shit in fics. Like I’m so sorry that I think reading these guys say slurs and be misogynistic assholes is severely out of character like bitch just cuz it’s the 80s doesn’t mean they these guys are massive bigots even before they realize their sexualities. And they don’t act like straight dudebros my man wtf. And before anyone says anything I know that it was written before the season came out but I raise my big complaint being WHY DID YOU WRITE THESE CHARACTERS BEFORE THEN YOU DONT EVEN KNOW SHIT ABOUT THEM MY MAN

In the same vein as previous point they were like super mad about how the actual season came out and it’s like oh noooo it’s almost like you built some shitty version in your head of how the show would be and when it obviously didn’t follow through you got all defensive. I mean I’m not saying you have to like the season but you kinda had it coming you know?

That’s all I’m gonna say I gotta get it out before I combust
