Pairing: Bucky Barnes x female reader

Summary: Bucky starts to show some interest in one of your favorite shows and you couldn't be more excited!

Author's Note: So I'm a huge fan of the GBBO and since the finale was this last week I've wanted to write something fun with Bucky. The show really just brings me joy and I've needed it lately and pairing it with Bucky just makes it that much better! No real spoilers here for the latest season- just lots of fun! “Buuuuuckkkyyyy.”

“Yeah doll?”

“Have you seen my tea? Are we out?”

As you continue to search the cabinet you feel his hard chest press against your back. His arm reaches above you and he pushes the box of crackers aside, revealing your tea.

“Oh good!” you cheer. “I’m about to watch this week’s episode of Great British Bake Off and I wanted some tea and snacks.”

“Is that the UK baking show you’re always going on about?”

“Yes,” you say with narrowed eyes as you turn in his arms.

He gives you a lopsided smile before a kiss.

“Want to watch with me?” you ask with a hopeful tone.

“I’m finishing up the paperwork from this last mission and you know all the cooking shows do is make me hangry.”

“You’re always hangry,” you state with a pout.

“So are you,” he fires back.

With one more kiss he says, “when I’m done I’ll come in a sit.”

“Ok,” you huff. “Hurry!”

You make your tea and get situated on the couch with the blanket, snacks and Alpine curled up in your lap.

“You’ll always watch with me right buddy,” you coo as you pet the cat’s soft white fur. “Not like daddy…too busy and too hungry.”

“Heard that doll face,” Bucky chimes from the other room.

“Damn super solider hearing,” you mutter.

You’re fully engrossed in the show, waiting with bated breath as Prue and Paul judge the show stoppers, and when Bucky asks, “did she just say, ‘tell us about your Beaver?,’” you startle with a squeal and nearly drop a now very irritated Alpine.

“OH MY GOD BUCK!” you shout.

“She did, didn’t she?” Bucky deadpans. “What kind of baking show is this?”

You press pause and turn around to stare at him as he leans against the back of the ouch and peers down at you and Alpine.

“The best baking show ever! Now shush…it’s judgement time.”

He lifts his eyebrows and smirks. “Didn’t know it was so serious. I’m gonna grab some food and I’ll be right back.”

You hit play and continue watching, barely noticing when the couch dips and Bucky sits down next to you.

“Did the beaver win?” he asks through a mouthful of food.

“It doesn’t work like that,” you start to explain but clamp your mouth shut as you wait for Noel to announce the name of the baker that’s leaving.

“How does it…?”

“Buck, wait…this is the worst part,” you whisper as you nibble on a finger.

He shuts up and takes another bite of his sandwich.

“Oh noooooooo,” you cry when you hear who’s going home. “I hate when anyone has to leave.”

Once it’s over and you’ve shut the TV you sigh. “Have to wait a whole week for the next one!”

Bucky slides his arm across your shoulders and tucks you against him, silently offering you a bite of his sandwich.

You take it and then ask, “can we get some cake at the diner later? I’m in the mood for a big slice of something.”

He chuckles and takes another bite of the sandwich before offering you the last one.

“Sure doll face. I can always go for cake.”

“Time for baking again?” Bucky asks when he gets out of the bathroom and finds you on the couch snuggled up with Alpine.

“Yes! Want to come watch?” you ask excitedly.

His expression falls. “Aw doll. I’m about to go workout with Sam.”

You pout. Again.

He leans over the side of the couch and kisses it right off your lips. “I’ll try to be quick. Maybe I can catch the end…or you could wait for me?”

You stare at him and blink several times, warring with the need to watch the episode immediately and the desire to watch with him.

The corners of his eyes scrunch up as he smiles. “It’s ok baby doll. You go ahead and watch, I’ll be back as soon as I can.”

You nod and pucker up for another kiss which he happily obliges in.

By the time he gets back from his workout you’re watching Paul and Prue judge the showstoppers.

“Are we about to see who wins,” he says as he plops down next to you.

Alpine meows in frustration as the couch bounces and he goes with it.

“They’re still judging the showstoppers and it’s bread week…”

You say the last words ominously and Bucky shifts closer, bringing his lips to the shell of your ear.

“Why do you sound so scared doll?”

“Paul is the King of bread.”

“Paul…? Is that the guy with the bad fake tan?”

“HEY!” you admonish with a giggle. “Yeah…but he knows bread.”

“I know bread!” Bucky says more to himself than you. “I eat bread all the time. I love it.”

“Not like that you buttface,” you retort. “Like he knows how to bake the best bread.”

“Buttface…? Did you just…?” Bucky starts before he returns his focus to the bread.

“I’ll be the judge of that! Where can we get some Paul bread?”

“Paul bread?” you repeat. “Just…shush. Let’s watch.”

“You sure tell me to shush a lot when this show is on,” he grumbles.

“That’s ‘cause you talk too much while it’s on!” you reply.

“That’s it,” Bucky says and grabs you, hauling you into his lap as his fingers find purchase on your waist and dig in.

“BUCKKKKKKKKKKKY! That tickles, stop, OH MY GOD!”

You screech and squeal and kick and fight but it’s no use. He easily holds you in place while he tortures you with tickles.

Alpine hops off the couch with his tail turned up and gives Bucky a murderous glare.

“Please,” you whine. “Just let me finish my show!”

He finally relents and slides his hands along your curves, snuggling you against his chest while you catch your breath.

“You’re such a pain in my ass,” you sigh as you let out one last deep breath and snuggle closer.

After they announce star baker Bucky adds, “I like the guy with the eye liner. He’s really funny.”

“That’s Noel. He’s the best!”

You stiffen when they get ready to announce who’s going home and Bucky hugs you more tightly.

“I really hate that part,” you say when it’s over.

“Alright, it’s official. Next week we are watching together.”

Your frown instantly turns into a bright smile and you throw your arms around his neck, peppering his face with kisses.

“I’m so excited Buck! And I have to explain everything…so Paul and Prue are the judges…”

Bucky stops you with a press of his finger to your lips. “Can we discuss his over food? Sam kicked my ass today and then the baking and now I’m starving.”

You smile before taking his finger and giving it a nibble. “Of course. Come on, we can get pizza.”

“YESSSS my favorite,” he sings.

“Everything is your favorite,” you deadpan.

He scoffs and then his smile turns devious. “I take it back.”

Your hands land on your hips and pin him with a challenging glare.

He steps closer and takes you in his arms. “Pizza isn’t my favorite thing to eat…”

His lips trail along your neck, stopping just below your ear. “You’re my favorite thing to eat.”

With a hum of satisfaction you crane your neck back and sigh as he places soft kiss to your skin, tracing your jaw before he finds your lips again.

His stomach growls just as he kisses you and you both laugh.

“Pizza first,” you say.

“Then you for dessert,” he promises.

“Man those technical challenges are rough,” Bucky says as he runs his hand through his hair. “Shit.”

“I KNOW!” you agree. “I don’t know how they do it.”

“Show stopper now?” Bucky asks with a boyish smirk.

“Yep!” you say popping the p before giving him a sweet kiss. “And it’s pastry week! YUM!”

Bucky’s fingers sneak under your shirt and trace mindless patterns along your shoulder. You’re snuggled against his chest with your palms flattened on his chest and tummy.

He digs his fingers into your skin and asks, “why does Paul walk around and watch them like that!?! It’s so intimidating!”

“Because he’s a total pain in the butt and knows how scary he is!”

As you continue to watch each baker explains their flavors and design and Bucky’s stomach growls.

“I’m so hungry,” he whines.

“You’re so cute,” you answer. “We just have to get through judging then we can eat!”

“Ok,” he says quietly as he pulls you closer.

“That’s amazing!” he says excitedly as one of the bakers brings up their showstopper. “I hope it tastes good!”

When the bakers are lined up in their chairs waiting to hear who star baker is and who’s leaving the tent, Bucky sucks in a breath, clearly on edge.

“Yes!” he cheers when they announce star baker. “I called that one!”

“You did,” you say as you pat his chest with a smile.

When Noel is about to say who’s leaving the tent Bucky drops his head and mutters, “ugh, you were right, this part really is the worst. I like them all! I don’t want anyone to leave.”

“Just wait until it gets down to the end and there are only a few bakers left…” you warn him.

The show ends and you both give each other a sad look.

“Do we know what the theme for next week is?” he asks.

“Botanicals!”

“Like flowers?” he asks with a confused look.

“Yes,” you smile.

“Wow, can’t wait for that!...heyyyyy why don’t we bake something doll?”

You do a double take. “You want to bake?”

“Yeah! I mean why not? I’m sure we can make somethin’ good.”

“OK! I’m sure we have the ingredients to put something together.”

You hop off the couch and head into the kitchen, opening a drawer to pull out two aprons.

“No way!” Bucky says when he sees what you’re holding up.

“You have to Buck! PLEAAASSSSSSSEEE…all the bakers wear one!”

“Fine,” he relents and takes it from your hand. “But I’m getting second dessert after this.”

He waggles his eyebrows as he looks you up and down.

“What are you a Hobbit?” you tease.

“A horny Hobbit!” he exclaims.

Very very minor spoiler warning

I'll be talking/simping about Vox's appearance in the latest episode.

My guy is so fucking hot. It's not even funny anymore. I mean, look at this slut's waist!

And the rolled up sleeves, oh my god. I'm such a sucker for the 'rolled up sleeves' look and Vox pulls it off perfectly. The things I would let this loser do to me, I fucking swear.

I can just imagine how desperate little (Y/n) feels and they beg and beg for at least a little bit of pleasure. Pretty please? Vox takes off his coat and rolls up his sleeves, a very suave smirk on his lips, before grabbing your waist and making out with you. Groaning into your mouth, he tells you how he loves that body of yours, how perfectly you fit in his hands. His strong arms lift you off the ground to quickly put you on any sturdy surface, just any. He doesn't wanna waste another second. Vox only wants to devour you and make you lose all your senses, fuck you so good you won't remember anything other than his name.

And you just know how good this man is. His words are sweeter than honey. He will dirty talk so confidently, it'll leave you breathless and wanting for more. He softly touches your hand. "Come on sweetheart," he says, moving his hand slowly further up your arm, stopping just before your shoulder and giving it a tiny squeeze, "we both know what that body of yours really craves right now." A firm tug follows and he leads you straight to the bedroom.

When he is the submissive one however! He is sooo pathetic. Its actually kind of hilarious how the almighty CEO of VoxTech loses his cool and blabbers on and on about how much he needs to feel you. "Jus' a kiss, baby," he whispers in your ear, holding onto your shoulders, "Please, just one kiss and I'll be good, I swear." He is such a loser and I love him so much.

but OH MY GOD IMPULSE IS SUCH A BADASS. HE PULLED HIS ROLE OFF BEAUTIFULLY. AND ITS SO THEMATICALLY PERFECT. IMPULSE GETTING THE IMP/DEMON ROLE WHILE BEING AN IMP/DEMON IN GENERAL FANON??? PERFECTO. IT WRITES ITSELF. THE NICE SWEET FATHERLY MAN IS THE FEARED DEMON, THE WOLF IN SHEEPS CLOTHING.

AND THATS NOT EVEN TALKING ABOUT HOW HE PLAYED. HOW DEVIOUS HE WAS. HOW THE FINAL CHALLANGE BETWEEN HIM AND VICTORY WAS HOW MUCH THE OTHER HERMITS COULD TRUST HIM. AND THE MAN SAID IT HIMSELF, WHO WOULDN'T TRUST THAT FACE???? BUT THEY WERE WRONG. HE TRICKED THEM. HE TRICKED THEM SO GOD DAMN HARD AND ANYTIME ANYONE WAS ON HIS TRAIL HE THREW 'EM OFF EVENTUALLY. ISKALL WAS ONTO HIM BUT EVENTUALLY VOTED WITH HIM AGAINST XISUMA! AND REN, WHILE BEING THE CLOSEST TO GETTING HIM, ADMITTED THAT IMPULSE GAVE A GOOD DEFENSE AND THAT HE WASN'T SO SURE. AND GOD, HE AND CUB HAD THAT FINAL ROUND IN THE BAG. THE EVIL TEAM WAS GURANTEED VICTORY THE MOMENT IMPULSE NOMINATED XISUMA. BECAUSE HE AND CUB WERE GONNA TIE IT NO MATHER WHAT. CUB AND IMPULSE NEED TO WORK TOGETHER MORE, THEY'RE SO QUICK WITTED AND ANALYTIC TOGETHER.

BUT WHAT IT REALLY SHOWS IS HOW IMPULSE CAN BE SO DANGEROUS BY SLIPPIN' UNDER THE RADAR AND ABSORBING INFORMATION TO TWIST FOR HIS BENEFIT. LIKE HOW HE KEPT PUSHING ON HYPNO'S OBSERVATIONS ABOUT HIS NEIGHBOURS BEING EVIL KNOWING FULL WELL THAT HYPNO WAS DETECTING CUB WHO WAS THE MINION. HE WAS SPEAKING TRUTH, AND THATS WHERE IMPULSE IS AT HIS MOST DANGEROUS. WHEN HE'S TECHNICALLY TELLING THE TRUTH, BUT HE KNOWS MORE ABOUT THAT TRUTH THEN YOU BELIEVE. MAN MAY BE A SHIT DIRECT LIAR, BUT TWISTING THE TRUTH? THATS HIS ELEMEMT. ITS LIKE IF 3RD LIFE WENT PERFECTLY FOR HIM INSTEAD OF HIM GETTING KARMICALLY PUNISHED IN THE MOST FITTING WAY.

GOD I'M NEVER GONNA BE THE SAME CHEMICALLY AFTER THIS. THIS IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL EXAMPLE OF THE THREAT THAT LIES BEHIND BEING KNOWN AS "THE NICE ONE." ITS A GORGEOUS SHOW OF HOW QUICK IMPULSE IS AND HOW MUCH DAMAGE HE COULD DO WITH JUST HIS DUMB SMILE AND SWEET VOICE AND HELPFUL DEMENOR. GOD. D A M N

anyways what i think happened that caused the crown to split was like- lambert was dying and gave the crown back to narinder, and narinder didnt want that so somehow he did something (consciously or unconsciously idk) that caused the crown to split so they would live?

god it was so sad seeing the words lambert said jokingly vs what they said during the flashback :( bamsara you are absolutely wild

OH MY GOD

The latest episode of Hunter: the Parenting just dropped like an hour ago and it was a ~40 min MASTERPIECE. In case you don't know, it's a dark comedy-action-drama-whatever series on youtube about a particularly strange family confronting the supernatural and it's maybe one of my favorite pieces of media ever. I have to get my thoughts out on the new episode, so spoilers under the cut!

Holy Christ, that ending!!! It hit me so hard that I'm still shaking a little! I honestly was pretty sure that Spit was being set up as a red herring, and while some comments I've seen have made some good points about how he still may not be guilty, it seems like he did something. I honestly don't have any solid theories about who actually did it, and I've even heard the suggestion that Fatigue may have faked his death with a discipline, though that doesn't seem particularly likely. I love all the wild twists and weird little discrepancies set up throughout the episode and I hope to god that the team can get the next episode out soon (that is, within a few months rather than a year) but the quality has increased so much that I don't even know if that's physically possible. That said, I don't think this will leave my mind for months anyway, if it ever will. 10/10, no notes. WOW

Hey! So, I know you probably haven't watched it yet, BUT: when you do, I must know your comprehensive thoughts on the latest Rookie episode!?!

ASK AND YOU WILL RECEIVE!!!

Okay, because I'm insane, I'm going to split this into two sections: not-chenford, and chenford.

SPOILERS FOR 6x02 UNDER THE CUT

First up, everything NOT-chenford-related:

Honestly they could have botched it, but it was SO FUN having Randy back for the wedding. "Sit down, German, I got this." i mean???? iconic. Also having him be literally in Pete's place and WITH HIS GIRLFRIEND? even more iconic. I'm a ride or die Randy fan, so all his scenes just made me unreasonably happy :)

it was understandably short, but I loved having Celina ride with Nyla, finally. It was kind of satisfying to see her get humbled in interrogation, because imo Nolan has been kind of lax with her training, letting her get away with things the other rookies would have been fired for. So it's nice that she'll spend some time away from him and with a *ahem* more experienced TO. hopefully. We'll see.

Ugh, my heart breaks for Aaron this season. Kid's traumatized for REAL. And his comment to Celina about not sharing things with the therapist because he wants to get back on patrol, not necessarily get better. That bothered me. I really hope they dig into that a lot. But I also hope nothing horrible happens because of it. He seemed so unstable, even when he wasn't drunk. I'm also very interested to see where this goes with his and Celina's friendship. Just a lot of good stuff that could be a really thoughtful and interesting story if handled right...

Aaaaand this episode confirms that I intensely dislike Bailey. Everything about her character is just trying too hard, like the writers were so tired of having Nolan date and break up a few times, they were like okay fine this one can stay, and even though they have chemistry readings in the negatives, they keep trying to push it even though it feels so wrong. I'd rather have Nolan be single the rest of the show than be in this stale cardboard relationship. But it's fine, they're not going to split them up now, so I'll have to deal with it lol

The whole thing with Oscar suing was SO rushed. Like, so insanely rushed I couldn't even be annoyed at him. I hope they bring him back and do it for real, because that was weird to kind of shoehorn in there just for dramatic effect.

EPIC COP TEAMUP IN SUITS AND TIES MY BELOVEDDDD. Seriously they all looked SO GOOD chasing down bad guys and beating people up. White dress shirts were truly the MVPs of this episode

Will Celina just. be wearing long sleeves the rest of her life? Seriously how long has she been a rookie already?? Most of Angela's pregnancy and maternity leave, so at least 10 months, if not more. Hell, she should be graduating from the program soon. The timeline in this show is absolute trash.

Speaking of-- Baby Wopez name drop when????? poor girl's been nameless for too long

James coming in clutch with the playlist was chef's kiss. I LOVE that man

ALSO JAMES AND WESLEY'S BROMANCE. "I went with a suit." "Me too. Mine has a tie." "Oh my god, same!" I CAN'T WITH THESE TWO. Probably my favorite bromance of anyone ever.

Finally, just in general-- I know some people were put off by how much stuff was jam-packed into 42 minutes (again. how???) but I think they pulled it off reasonably well. There was actually very good pacing, lots of comedy and angst and everything in between. I personally LOVED this episode and I think it deserves a few rewatches just to pick up on everything they threw at us. It has its flaws, but it will definitely be a 100th episode to remember, that's for sure.

AND NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE MOMENT WE'VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR.

But first let me just get this out of the way real quick-- AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGHLSKDJFOAHGOIJWE;LKTH;SKLJD;LFKHAGLJKSDFA;HLGKJLSKJDKFJDKJFKDJFKJDKFJDKFJKD OH MY GOSHHHHHHHHHHHA;LKGHSJNBMNMCC HELP KJAEHKEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEGHGHGHGHGHGHGHG IM HYPERVENTILATING AHGHGHAHSHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

okay, anyway.

Here we go!

I'm just a little bit torn on how they decided to approach this. On the one hand, it was nice that they were still able to work together and talk without excessive drama. Although... Tim shutting the door on her did hurt. Yeah. That hurt a lot. But I had really hoped that they would acknowledge that Lucy was in the wrong last episode too. She was being completely unreasonable and like Tim said, she was projecting. But in this ep, it seemed like she was validated and he was the one being unreasonable. While his trauma with Isabel is something they desperately need to talk about (like Lucy said), she was also reacting too harshly to it and being unfair with her accusations. But honestly, it's okay. We still have 8 episodes to sort it out and it seems like they're very much on the right track. I'm hoping they have a really really really intense, tearful, honest, raw, cathartic conversation about the whole thing. Seems like that's the direction they're going, so I won't hold my breath but it is something that needs to happen.

ALL OF THEIR INTERACTIONS were just so. hnnggg. so chewy. so much going on. THE LOOKS DURING THE WEDDING. hang on I'll come back to that in a sec.

The scene with the Hammer was NEXT LEVEL. (Also fun that they named the episode after That Scene, specifically. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.........) For some reason I immensely enjoyed watching Tim get thrown around like a rag doll. Not sure what that's about. Never seen that side of myself before.

THE FORESHADOWING. That on-one-knee thing was more than I thought they'd give us, and OMG I ATE IT UP. The little pause, where Lucy's breath kind of catches, and Tim just seems kind of oblivious. THAT'S CINEMA, BABEY.

Kind of insane about Tim just passing out like that. Poor man.

CELINA MENTIONING LUCY'S BACHELORETTE PARTY????? hello even more foreshadowing :))))

The scene cuts back and forth when Lucy is helping with the cake and Tim with the flowers??? THEY'RE TELEPATHIC SOULMATES DON'T TALK TO ME.

And the fact that the lie detector was RANDY'S IDEA? I'm shrieking. "Ein wenig crazy," is definitely something my adhd bilingual ass has said irl

oh my lord how CLOSE she scoots her chair?? i'm melting

I thought it was kind of a nice touch to have Tim be actually surprised by the lie detector picking up his answer to the last question being a lie. Because honestly.... now it makes a little more sense: he's been lying to himself. Which is kind of an angle I didn't see coming. "I guess we do have a problem," sounds to me like he literally hasn't been able to admit to himself that he doesn't want Lucy undercover. Of course he wants her to make detective, that's not a question. Detective doesn't equal undercover. But he's been telling himself probably since day one that he's fine with it, that she's not Isabel, that he has nothing to worry about . . . and now he's finally seeing that he really is terrified. Something she's seen in him all along. And while their argument last episode was about more than just this (I still believe she was in the wrong for projecting so hard and making crazy assumptions about him), I think I can see where the writers were going with it.

THE I LOVE YOUS D E S T R O Y E D ME

Okay, back to the Looks at the wedding. Tim being all 🧍and scanning the crowd for his girl . . . Lucy delivering the Heart Eyes of the century . . . Them still sitting together because even though they're fighting, they're still each other's person, and nothing can change that . . . I'm going into cardiac arrest.

In my book, "We're gonna get through this" is a nice breath of fresh air and a bit of relief, but it doesn't mean they've worked everything out. Again, they need a good solid conversation. One that this episode was never going to give us, sadly. But it'll come!

ALSOOOO that moment when Aaron interrupts them and we see Tim's hand around her waist, I just OOF i need a moment

I AM NEVER GONNA BE NORMAL ABOUT THIS EPISODE. the foreshadowing, the parallels, the pining, the dancing, the fighting, the emotions, EVERYTHING. It was not perfect but it was WONDERFUL. 10000/10, I need to watch all their scenes about five million more times.

AND THERE WE HAVE IT. I'll definitely be posting more thoughts soon, but that's where I'm at for now. Basically I think they set the groundwork for a really solid, healthy relationship going forward. I LOVED their moments in this ep, absolutely top tier. The ANGST. I am eating up every second of it.

“Short version, we need to go to Santa Monica.” Okok im pretty sure that’s almost exactly what he says in the books, but it felt poorly set up in the show. Part of the pacing issues perhaps, but grahh it pulled me out of the story.

Where’s Percy’s backpack? Doesn’t he have one before Ares gives him one? Honest question bc I don’t remember for sure lol. Not assuming it’d stay with him thru the arch-falling shenanigans but like,,, what abt everyone else’s stuff? They aren’t walking around with NO water n stuff, right?????

Where is Annabeth’s necklace half the time? They keep forgetting it T-T. Sometimes it seems plausible that it’s under her shirt, but most of the time it’s very clearly not. + when they showed her dads ring on it last ep, that thing was Chunky-the outline of the ring would be showing under any shirt collar!!

The conversation behind the concrete highway thing felt kinda stilted. 1) when annabeth mentioned only one of the Fate’s names and 2) partially bc there was no background music the whole time…. Whenever the background instrumentals come in the quality of the show jumps so much!!!

Some of the Ares expressions/first convo/delivery felt hellla cheesy at points. In general when the gods characters say stuff like “young one” at the end of their sentences it feels kinda like a throwaway. Like the actors are embarrassed abt the line or smth… idk. Just doesn’t feel in-character enough the way those lines are delivered.

Ares says he’ll help them, then says they’re going to fail, then says he’d kill them so he can eat in peace when he offered them food in the first place…. makes them help him, then helps them anyways… idk the motivation portrayal in the show felt way more wishy washy and weak than in the books

The trap was really cool but it didnt read well until Annabeth went thru.

Different food on the table with Ares when they cut back to him and Grover at night. Super understandable that they could go thru multiple meals, but there’s no visuals of either character eating or calling the waitress over to get more food or like ANY storytelling cue to have the changing food make sense/have a reason to change. It just becomes another thing that kinda takes me out of the story.

Why is the Tunnel of Love where the shield “must” be?? There’s no indication that Percy and Annabeth have a demigod intuition towards the place, or that they’ve looked elsewhere. It’s stated like a fact that the audience is just supposed to accept and go along with. Where’s the reasoning???

Didn’t love the sound design when “What is Love” came in. Is it supposed to be playing in a tunnel loudly or not? The song kept getting louder and softer at diff points in a way that really took me out of the ‘realism’ of the moment.

What in the H2O water powers hard-to-read special effects was that 😭😂

The scene cuts between the Percy/Annabeth to Grover/Ares feels so choppy… :(

Hwhat is the reasoning behind automatically assuming that the chair and shield are connected. 😭😭😭. Ik the books have way more context and internal dialogue. Ok I love Hephaestus’s character in the books and in mythology. For some reason this actor didn’t conjure him for me. My Hephaestus is hunched, buff, more noticeably physically disabled, more dramatic and eccentric and kind and gruff. Idk this actor just fell flat for me.

Just small things with the scene cuts. Like how the camera stays on someone’s face for a second or two too long… all the fckn time. Small, consistently annoying thing for me. ¯\_(:/)_/¯

“Thank you for the emotional abuse and the cheeseburgers.” … what? Isn’t the whole point that Grover was buttering him up? What is the point of the emotional abuse comment to Ares’s face if Grover was playing him up the whole time. It feels like something that was written for kitschy woke-ism points instead of a genuine callout/dialogue that fits more smoothly with what’s happening before, during and after that moment. Cause then Grover asks for paper towels immediately after… 😅 bruh what.

I do have a few mcs, but my main one is Sly, the worst guy you've ever met

His normal playthrough traits are Keen Eye and Street Smart, I just started a hardcore one with him though with extra Book Smart

He's a first year associate in a big law firm in Davenport, Iowa. Would leave tomorrow if he could — he might be good at reading people, but he's so focused on good impressions that he never really connected with anyone. So pretty much he's just spending all his time in a shitty job, sleeps two and half hours during the week and the entire day at weekends, and has no family or friends other than Truck. The first half day he spent in the Holler he almost considered moving there as soon as he paid off the debt. By now he's a wreck questioning all his morals (doesn't help that he was best at finding loopholes to let employers get away with shit! If he survives this week, as soon as possible he's switching to help the employees. Totally. Uh huh) and just generally trying to figure out if the two deaths that already occured are more of his fault or some outside force. He even stopped wearing clean clothes for gods sake. Will have to change that though because pretty sure those are a bit bloody now. From the matricide

My other mcs are:

Cain [it/they/he] (dedicated hardcore mode guy), with mystical, powerful build and street smart traits. They live in a shack in someone's garden and don't know what it's studying at the community college . I think . It's been a moment . He prides himself in being sort of an asshole but they do ultimately do the right thing whenever it's possible

Ashton [she/her], powerful build and booksmart, lives in the flooding basement and works in a chain coffee shop. She'd love to move somewhere closer to nature, but for now La Crosse has to do — especially since she's already made plans to leave with Kaneeka

Last one is Seraphine [they/them] and they're my official asshole playthrough I just started. Speak with animals and hot combo, they do whatever is most entertaining to them because honestly if you speak with animals that's clear sign you're god's favourite. Unfortunately I feel bad about being an asshole so haven't gotten to the living situation yet

For now — first episode Duke or Gretchen. That's mostly bc I played with a bunch of buddies after my first playthrough, so I've seen the aftermath of some decisions before I had to make them myself

In my original playthrough I only really had to make that first choice — keen eye spared me the mines (tbh would probably be harder for me), and bc rosalina was uninjured i didn't really feel it's crucial to save her house . And episode four I went in blind and really thought I could fix him (spoiler alert. Bad idea). So I didn't take the tranqulisers to not break Reese's trust, and just sorta didn't have a choice at last

A strong contender would be episode four in my latest playthrough though, I technically knew what was gonna happen but man locking him up sucked

Wednesday- Netflix Show Review (spoilers duh)

Alright, i watched the show. Did i like it? Eh!! Will i still participate in fandom? Yes!

Show rating: 3 stars??

Right off the bat you can tell the only good actor in this show is the main character. Jenna Ortega 100% did this role amazingly, and was my second favorite character (first being Thing ofc). Everyone elses acting ranged from mid to just straight up not good? Not to mention like jesus the cast either looks 12 or late 20s, is this highschool, middle school or college?? And dont get me started on the MAIN MALE LEADS ACTING??? Tyler played by Hunter Doohan, deadass sounds like a shitty anime dub protagonist. And by GOD did that get on my nerves. I will say either the acting is better or more tolerable by the end of the season but thats most likely due to the fact the screen time mainly shifts onto the main character Wednesday. Which im fine with.

I love Wednesday, i love her so much. She is so autistic coded, just like me for real. Jennas portrayal is amazing. Line delivery, body language, everything down to the tea for amazing it was.

The writing...... yeah the writing..... yeah no..... Its not great, it feels like they only focused on making Wednesdays lines good and give 0 shits about anyone else. Some moments are great i wont lie, but alot of the writing comes off as???? Eh??? And the actors definitely didnt help carry the writing. Maybe with a different cast, it wouldn't have been so hard to watch.

The show starts off with a very strong pallet of "how do you do, fellow kids?" and honestly has one of the worse hooks ive ever seen. Social media being shoved down are throats and a couple of ad placements throughout the first episode, i was expecting a full on "HEY BUY THE LATEST IPHONE, EAT SOME DORITOS AND SHOP AT OLD NAVY" type of ads like the Addison Rae movie. Like oooooooooooof, thankfully they tone that down, but its still very obvious in some scenes.

Shows like this always make me feel weird where they have "outcast" "normie" type stuff. And yeah it was.... ?????? Man idk lmao. This show did alot of stereotypes and ???? stuff?? throughout it, that was honestly very weird? Like for example Enid isnt able to transform into a werewolf, and her mom wants to send her to.... wait for it.... CONVERSION THERAPY??? Are we serious??? And its like this long awkward scene that felt like a coming out scene of her turning down conversion therapy, and her mom storming out and her dad saying how proud he is and he will always support her....... like deadasss???? AND THEN!!! SHE ENDS UP "WOLFING OUT" AT THE END ANYWAYS????? So like are you serious??? They dealt with it like it was a coming out thing and it was a puberty thing and alsoa disability, so that was icky!!!

A HUGE ICK IS IN THE ENDING???? We find out what a hyde is and all of a sudden Wednesday finds out that Tylers mom, oh my god, was a HYDE!!! So she confronts him and let me just quote this scene for yall"

Wednesday: "Her postpartum depression triggered her condition"

Tyler: "My mom has severe bipolar disorder."

Wednesday: "We both now thats a lie..... She was a Hyde"

LIKE DID WE REALLY???? DID WE REALY JUST COMPARE A SEVERE MOOD DISORDER TO A CREATURE???? IN THE SHOW A HYDE IS DESCRIBED AND "UNLEASHED" By this: "artists by nature, but equally vindictive in temperament.” He wrote: “Born of mutation, the Hyde lays dormant until unleashed by a traumatic event or unlocked through chemical inducement or hypnosis."

Like???? what we arent going to do is compare an already severely stigmatized disorder to a literal monster. That is so fucked up??? On so many levels????

There were a couple good moments in the show, and i did really like watching the friendship between Enid and Wednesday blossom. Any scene with Thing was good and also the scenes with Eugene were pretty adorable. I do enjoy the way she does investigate and the mystery aspect is semi solid. Her visions are also portrayed very well and i like them. The fight scenes i would say are pretty well choreographed.

Wednesday has alot of autistic / neurodivergent traits, along with alot of the other characters and that is very fun to watch. Because omg me? Very relatable! Does put the whole "outcast" "normie" thing in a weird perspective tho huh?

Anways would i watch it again? No

Will i watch the second season? Yeah probably!!

Do I recommend it? EH??? If you can get through the first two episode and look past the cringey/ unbearable acting, then yeah go ahead. Its only 8 episodes, i finished it in a day, so if you just want the show in the background or youre bored sure. Again there are some captivating scenes but honestly none that are very hooking to me.

Anyways thats my review !!!

Gundam: The Witch from Mercury Ep. 2 impressions

[G-Witch episode 2 spoilers]

Shet ang ganda! There was no action at all this episode but I think it's better than Ep. 1. The emotional beats, the plot + character development, the art, worldbuilding, the voice performances. Woooo my god this anime has exceeded hype so far!

Poor bb Suletta can't catch a break. But alas, that is what it means to be a Gundam protagonist. I love Miorine too, good subversion on the damsel/princess in distress trope imo; even if she's trapped in her father's corpo nightmare kingdom, she's asserting herself and trying everything she can to take back control of her life.

Oh, I also noticed that this timeline does have unmanned/AI-operated mobile suits like Gundam Wing. But unlike Wing's mobile dolls, which were super-efficient killing machines, the drone suits here seem to be more like fodder. But it's too early in the show to say for sure.

Something to note about the red MS after the ED: it deployed what looked like its own Bits or "drones", perhaps its own GUND system that allows it to control autonomous weapons. My guess is that in providing Gundam Aerial (w/c uses illegal tech) an avenue to exist, the other corpos will start bringing out their illegal GUND tech using similar excuses/loopholes, kicking off an arms race and escalation of tensions.

Now I wanna talk about the worldbuilding since this episode we get to learn more about the world of the Gundam Ad Stella (AS) timeline. I really like it so far. I think it’s a vision of a future that could happen if people like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos are allowed to run rampant in space. Just look at how they run their companies now; if they expand to outer space with similar impunity, they'll turn it into an authoritarian corporate dystopia just like AS Gundam.

The trend in recent Gundam AUs (like IBO and WfM) seems to be putting emphasis on powerful private institutions like corporations holding authority in outer space, rather than state actors like the Federation and Zeon in the UC*, and I think this is a reflection of how Gundam interprets our present-day trends and projects them into the future. Who are the loudest, most influential, and most capable (in terms of resources) advocates of space colonization and exploration today? It’s not world governments, but aggressive megacorporations who see opportunities to expand out to space in order to shape the kind of future they want for themselves. This latest Gundam presents a rather dark projection of that future, and I am interested in seeing how our protagonists will challenge the oppressive systems that hold it together.

Your first watch of the show has coincided with my latest rewatch (I’ve just started s3, so I’m a tad behind you). But as someone watching it for the first time I just HAD to stop by and ask how you’re finding it so far and what your thoughts are? Tell me everything! No thought or detail is too small, I love talking about Lost so much 🥲

oh my god thank you so much!!! i just love it when lost fans come by here to say me they love seeing activity on the tag again and they say my gifs made them rewatch the show (i can't check tags cause ✨spoilers✨) it's shocking to see there are very few people who actually gif popular shows like lost, breaking bad etc. and i've even realized there are not any marvel fans anymore like it used to be, i don't know how i feel about this, but i'm glad to contribute 🥹

that's so great! <3 it's so great to see people are still rewatching it after 19 years because that's what this! show! deserves! i didn't know what it was about and after i read it, i said "a plane crashed on an island and some people survived? eh it's not that interesting and so cliche" and later my brother watched it and he was literally obsessed with it and he was very pissed off that i was constantly putting it off. so i started and the first two episodes were the most intense and chaotic episodes i've ever watched in any series 😬 so as i keep watching, i realized i love mystery series (which was sth i've noticed about myself) and i absolutely love science fiction and psychological series. it was so hard to keep so many character's name in mind at first and you know better than me, there are SO many details in such random places that i bet, most people didn't even notice in the first watching 😅 it's like, the smallest thing you saw in a random episode of s1 turns out to be something much bigger in a random episode of s3 etc. 😅 so since i can't see all of the easter eggs, i watch it with my brother mostly who has seen it 3 times and after finishing the eps he says "did you notice that" and then he goes "look there are numbers right there and there's hurley on the tv of the people jin went to kill" etc. 😅 but you know, this series is magnificent and full of surprises and it always ends with killer cliffhangers and now i'm on mid s3 and desmond started to keep saving charlie's ass, i've seen ben and his people, i feel like i'm really into the show and the scifi part of it 😅 i don't know how it will all fit together, you know, everytime roll credits, i'm like "i dunno what i've just watched and how it's gonna play out by the end but it's freaking exciting" 😅 i'm really glad that i'm watching lost at 22 because lost is mostly about life itself, good memories, regrets, personalities, sins and grace, there's always a moral of the story in the end. so, if i had watched it when i was little, i probably wouldn't understand a shit. but now i feel a little more mature and i've been through a few things so the character's stories are a bit more relatable now.

so what i'm most curious about is that, now i'm on mid s3 and i found out claire's father is WHO!!! (freaking out!!! not spoiling this cause there might be someone reading) can you say that i've seen the most of this show OR things has just started and i've seen nothing yet 😂 i can't make gifs a lot 'cause i'm currently busy with life and my thesis but giffing this show is fun, so if you have specific requests, i'm writing which episode i last watched in my pinned post, u can check it out from there ✨ i'm so glad you had to stop to ask me this, lost is going pretty mysterious and chaotic and i'm so thankful for that 😂

About Dream of A Thousand Cats & Calliope

Before we get into my thoughts on the latest Sandman episode, I just want to say a huge thank you to Tumblr’s fave Step Dad @neil-gaiman (this was totally @minim236’s joke but she’s right!) not just for the reblog and notice, but for all your stories that were a huge part of my childhood that helped to shape me as a person!

But this ^^ happening was pretty damn cool too. It was definitely the highlight of my day after a couple of hard days (we had a family friend death and grief is weird af) so thank you for that distraction Mr. Gaiman - I’m glad you enjoyed my screaming in excitement hahaha

Alright then, let’s get into Episode 11 which can I just say was absolutely brilliantly done! Both stories stood on their own with great themes. On a technical aspect too, it was just wonderfully done - I say this as a recent film graduate! It just made me sit and contemplate them for a good hour or three.

TWs for the Ep & my review mentions them: Animal Cruelty/Death (Timestamp: 5:10 to 6:10), Whole of Calliope is an allegory for SA/human trafficking so watch safely or don’t at all if you can’t! (Timestamp: 23:20 onwards there’s various beats of the storyline but nothing explicit, just implied and cutaways!) and Blood/Self-mutilation (Timestamp: 52:55 to 53:20 but the scene ends at 54:00 if you want to skip the whole scene)

Dream of A Thousand Cats

I don’t have much to say on this episode because I loved how it spoke for itself. I adore it when shows/movies do that because not many are able to do that!

This 16 minute short film was just brilliantly done from start to finish. It was very self-contained, got its point across in a succinct way with scenes and emotional beats that knock you off your feet. It was the way I gasped when all the pieces started to fall into place and saw exactly where the story was going halfway through. Sandra Oh was SUCH a great casting choice for The Prophet/Siamese Cat. She just had such a welcoming and alluring voice, definitely very maternal which made me more emotional over the cat’s backstory. I would definitely dream of a new world just for her!

Also I had never been so angry hearing David Tennant’s voice after what Don did to the kitties. So I would say 10/10 voice cast. Of course, the animation was a masterclass! It flowed so well and it did look super real at first. I just loved this art style and it worked so well too, it felt like the comic being brought to life right off the page.

All in all, I just have to say if the New World happens tomorrow well then, me to the cats:

Calliope

This one hurt me. Completely changed me as a person after watching it.

I thought the kittens being thrown into the river was awful? Oh god, this completely took my breath away in the best and worse ways. So it resonated deeply with me because I have been on both sides of it. I’m a writer (specifically screenwriter) who gets ideas far and few to be honest but I’m NOT going to kidnap a Muse to get them. Then on the flip side, I have been assaulted before. So while I’m thankful it wasn’t shown (I heard its more explicit in the comics so thank you to the writing team for updating it for the medium), it is implied that both Erasmus Fry and Richard rape her to ‘get inspiration’ which Jesus, that is gross. However, it worked as a powerful narrative tool and metaphor. Speaking of which, the allusions and allegory to human trafficking and slavery were very much on point. This was most likely my second favourite part of the episode (my all time fave will be listed below in a bit!) the subtle and sometimes not-so-subtle ways - especially with the language Calliope uses when describing her journey between Erasmus and Richard - in which Calliope’s situation held up a mirror to the horrific circumstances of SA and human trafficking happens nowadays.

Because of these two experiences, I was able to see myself in both of them (Richard before he met her) though moreso Calliope, she IS THE Muse after all aka the Original Poet. The sinister side of it aside, I also did feel a kinship to Calliope being locked away as someone who is pretty sheltered at home. It was just a very interesting and illuminating experience to watch this episode - to see myself on both sides.

Though I completely condemn what Richard was doing while branding himself as a ‘feminist’ writer, I rolled my eyes SO hard at the scene. It was good that women and POC were hired for his crew, but it felt so performative while Calliope was still captive. If I’m not wrong they were crew members, not creatives/executives so they don’t even get a say in the final product and storytelling aspect lol so it doesn’t really mean shit other than these people getting a job which is still good but the bare minimum in my book.

Okay now, let’s get into my FAVOURITE part of the episode, so I adoreee Calliope and how strong she was all through it and she doesn’t need no man to save her shhshs but the fucking laws ugh. HOWEVER in this case, it worked so well with Morpheus, or rather Oneiros. Their chemistry was INSANE and it didn’t need to be explosive to work too - you can tell that they were ex-spouses but there was still that affection there with some hesitancy. How they interacted and what little crumbs was given to us about their backstory just made me all the more curious about their connection, story and ORPHEUS! He along with Eurydice are my favourite Greek myth. I just have so many questions about this family and him: Whooo is he in this? Does he still have an Eurydice?? What happened to him, how did he die? How was it either of their faults? I NEED ANSWERS MR. GAIMAN!

[Anyways if anyone could direct me to the comic issue that covers this storyline along with what happened to Nada that would be great, thank you!! ]

Honestly though, the more we learn about Nada and Calliope, (basically Dream’s love life) the more curious it gets. It sounds like a disaster all the way through, and I am HERE for it. Hopefully we can get an S2 and watch it play out in real time then.

All in all, I really enjoyed the bonus episode thank you to the team for keeping it under wraps, it was such a lovely surprise and on the off chance you see this, Mr. Gaiman thank you again for everything you’ve done - you had a huge impact on my life and I’ll never stop being grateful for that <3
