✨NEW WRITEBLR TAG GAME JUST DROPPED✨
If you're struggling with breathing life into your OC's, try this funny yet stupidly simple trick/writeblr tag game I just came up with. I call it the 'Roast Your OCS and Make It Into a Title' tag game. 🤣
So, we've all heard of fictional character archetypes and stereotypes that are often present in fiction, right? We all know it's not good to have shallow, surface level characters that have no complexity or nuance to their personalities, because real life humans contain multitudes, contradictions, and are in general very complicated beings.
Throw all that shit out for this exercise and toss it into the trash! 🗑️ In this tag game, we're gonna be reducing all our OC's to the most basic, mundane, stereotypical/archetypal renditions of themselves and making it Fit Into a Title!
Here's an example of my main character + his besties from my Science Fantasy WIP:
Cold and Stoic Pretty Boy Loaner With Social Anxiety and Unhealed Trauma Tries to Save His Sister
Disowned Goth Femme Fatale With Bitchy Yet Gentle Attitude Is Socially Neglected and Cries A Lot
Occasionally Serious Himbo City Boy Cop Tries and Fails to Fight Crime With Therapy and Rehabilitation
Snobby Know-It-All Imperial Man Who Somehow Has Both A Superiority and Inferiority Complex
Protective Amazonian Lesbian Sadist Who Will Absolutely Step On You and Ruin Your Life Forever
Gifted Slutty Bisexual Boy Genius Is Hiding a Dark Secret and Is Very Zesty (Rude) About It
For this tag game I'm gonna be tagging A LOT of people but mainly people who've interacted with me recently. Free to reblog if you see this on your dash, even if you're not tagged. I find this shit HILARIOUS and I would love to see what everyone manages to come up with! No pressure at all if you don't wanna participate, this is all just for fun. ❤️😊

@sarahlizziewrites @ayzrules @rickie-the-storyteller @janec23
If you want some extra help you can also look up character stereotypes/archetypes like I did. There's hundreds of blog posts about this topic but here's some helpful links so you can judge/roast your OC's to your heart's content:

Writeblr for newbies
So you joined Tumblr to talk about your writing. Maybe you're published and you want to promote your works, or maybe you're wanting a supportive community of fellow writers, or maybe you're just writing for the hell of it and want to show the world your blorbos.
Welcome!!
Tumblr media
Being a part of the writing side of Tumblr is a little bit like being in kindergarten and all the kids are talking about their imaginary friends to each other. Except some of the kids have published stories about their imaginary friends in real books you can buy. It's so cool.
I have made some wonderful friends on Writeblr, I've ARC'd and beta'd books for people, and I've gotten a lot of warm fuzzies from sharing my snippets and my characters. It's somewhere between self-promo and group therapy, but it doesn't feel like either. It feels like a wonderful community of writers supporting each other.
The Writeblr lingo can seem a little intense at first so I thought I'd set up a guide. If I've missed anything lmk!
WIP - stands for 'work in progress' (plural: WIPs). Any piece of writing (or poetry, or any kind of art) that isn't completed yet. This might be the first draft of a story, or the nth draft of your novel, or the not-yet-posted chapter of the fanfiction you're writing. WIP is a state of mind: it might be nearly complete, or it might just be an idea with a few hundred words attached to it. Talk about it as much or as little as you want.
WIP intro - a totally optional (and honestly a lot of hard work sometimes lol) post explaining the main themes/background/plot/characters of your WIP. Something you can link people to so they good a good idea of your WIP and what it's about. Similarly, character intro, for individual characters within a WIP, often with art/picrews.
Tag game - the lifeblood of Writeblr! In its most basic form, someone tags you in a game, you play the game, then tag other people you want to play the game. Lots of people do 'open tags', which you can also pick up. These games can range from making picrews of your characters to posting a snippet or multiple snippets. A few common ones at the moment (these change often!) are: Find the Word (the tagger gives you words to find in your WIP, you post a short snippet for each word, then give the people you tag new words to find); Last Line (you post the last line(ish) you wrote, or wrote recently); 9 Lines 9 People (post 9(ish) recent lines, tag 9(ish) people). There are so many more, and new ones being created all the time.
Blorbo - your OC (original character) that lives in your mind rent-free. The one(s) you would commit war crimes for. You know the one I'm talking about. In addition, blorbo trading and sharing is encouraged in the Writeblr community.
Ask game - a post that you reblog, usually containing a list of prompts or questions, that encourages your followers to ask those questions in your ask box. It is friendly to drop an ask from the game to the person you reblogged the post from.
Weekly asks - if you've asked to take part, questions about your writing in your inbox, related to a certain day of the week. There's Worldbuilding Wednesday (WBW), which are questions about worldbuilding, Blorbo Blursday (OC questions), and Storyteller Saturday (STS), questions about writing in general. These questions can be very generic and vague, or can be about specific characters/stories.
Pinned Post - basically, an 'about' page. Talk about yourself, your WIPs, the kinds of things you like, whether you want to be involved in Writeblr games, whether your asks are open. You don't need one, but it can be a handy reference point for your followers.
Taglist - sometimes, Tumblr posts get lost on the dash. If you are interested in a particular WIP, ask the author if you can be put on their taglist, so you can get notified every time they post about it. They will love you for it, seriously!
Overall, on Writeblr, it is always encouraged:
to talk about your stories and characters as much as you like. People might not follow along at first, but they'll get on board!
to reblog others' writing/snippets/promo. We're all relying on each other for our sanity here, and a nice comment in the tags never goes amiss either!
I'm sure I've missed something - feel free to add!

About the author:
My name is Morgan Faire, and I'm a (recently realised/out) trans person living in England. My pronouns are He/They and They/Them. I've been writing for about as long as I can remember, and I focus primarily on fantasy, but some stories also include elements of crime/psychological thriller and sci-fi. I also write fanfiction and post it over on Ao3
My ask box is always open and I love being tagged in all the various writeblr tag games! I might not get around to posting my own answers to them, but I will always try to read through your excerpts!
With that in mind, if you're working on a story that you think I might like (one or more of the genres mentioned above), please alert me to its existence with a direct message or an ask with a link to any post you've made about it so far, OR just tag me! I promise I won't ever find that annoying.
Current projects
This is by no means an extensive list; I have probably close to twenty different stories in my head at any given time, and I flit between all of them like a moth trying to decide which light source is The Most Appealing. Sometimes my ideas get together and make new baby ideas without telling me.
(this got way too long so it's all under the cut!)
If you're interested in learning more about anything listed below, please let me know and I'll get you on a taglist!
Tumblr media
THIS NOBLE LIGHT (TNL)
Set in the sole city of the frigid northernmost island of Ersse, Pholis is a city with a strict religious doctrine and a rotting heart.
Kadyric Alart, a lightbringer captain, must navigate the politics of the organisation he's dedicated his life to when his child is arrested on suspicion of heresy.
Help comes in the form of an unexpected ally; a nightstalker named Kalassar Vion who was once his best subordinate.
An urban fantasy story with queer characters and elements of found family and enemies to lovers.
Tumblr media
LEGENDS OF ERSSE (LoE)
A collection of short stories exploring the myths and legends of the world of Ersse, including:
The Legend of Corroneau's Landing
A new landmass is created for Etrios when one of the Great Beasts drops one of Its many horns into the ocean. The people celebrate and flock to shrines to honour the Horned One.
However, another of the Beasts--a dragon named Corroneau--knows that the Horned One had ulterior motives behind creating the peninsula and seeks to undo It's work.
Other titles in the collection:
The Long Dark & The First Dawn: A story of two parts set on the island that will one day become the sprawling city of Pholis.
The Endless Garden: The vast home of the Great Ones is too big and too lonely; this is what happens when one of the immortal beings invites a mortal to the garden.
The Spine of Remhul
The Blood Marshes of Tresyt
The Sunken Crypts of Baanzi
Tumblr media
Modern Tales of Ersse (MToE)
Another anthology of short stories created to further explore the vast world; all with ample world building and interesting characters with intriguing stories to share.
Included titles:
Always a Thief: The Metropolis of Moate's most notorious thief falls in love rather unexpectedly.
The Last Librarian of Kinnoden: The University of Kinnoden recently announced that their vast archive will be opened to the public, and the owner of the very last independant book repository wonders if they should shut up shop. The person who may well be their final guest helps them to decide.
Time of Descent: In order to survive The Heat, a small community in the south of Rotesh retreat each year to a cave system under the surface of the lake their village was built around. For the first time in recent history, they will have a guest.
Bound to Remain: An expedition through the Forest of Grevia leads the group to a mysterious cave; the Scholar they were accompanying insists on entering alone, and asks that they remain outside. A strange magic descends over the area.

Thank You
Tumblr media
If you’ll permit me a minute to be cliche: this photo would not have been possible without you. When I started university in August 2019, the sum of all my author-y potential measured up to:
No finished manuscripts
A pipe dream of ever publishing my work
A scatterbrained outline of The Laoche Chronicles
Forty-four phone notes full of half-witted ideas
A grand total of 3 followers on my brand-new tumblr account
At the time, I had no grand plans of marketing my work, though I knew it would be necessary if I ever wanted an audience. I chose a degree in chemical engineering because I knew my baby platform and half finished stories weren’t going to cut it as a career in their current state as an 18-year-old, and I needed to have a day job if I wanted to pursue my end dream of self publishing. I was just hoping to survive my first year of engineering school, pass my weed-out classes, and hopefully make some new friends. That fall semester passed with sporadic progress on my book, and halfhearted attempts at breaking into the writeblr community, until I decided to try my hand at Inktober and made my first few acquaintances: @siarven and @abalonetea, who have both featured on this blog since then. It was also at this point, sometime during a Calculus III lecture, that I invented my pen name:
Tumblr media
All was going well, and I was pleased with my incremental progress until the world ended.
The less said about the pandemic, the better. Writeblr truly kept me sane through working full-time jobs and taking 18 credit hours during the semester. When I was truly close to dropping out of school, I kept going, knowing I had these online friends to cheer me up after brutal exams and long nights of studying. The tag games and community filled the dearth of interaction left by quarantine and an insane schedule. During my summer internship in 2020, I finally had the time to finish the first draft of Storge and the confidence in myself to start a website. Rereading my first post is a surreal experience, in part because I still see myself as a little kid as hiding under the blankets with a flashlight, notebook, and pen, thinking “I wanna write a book!”
Tumblr media
I woke up the next day crying to the sheer volume of kind messages congratulating me on meeting this milestone. Instead of feeling burnt out after reaching such a lofty goal, this gave me all the more energy to keep working. Since then, I’ve been so blessed to grow this community and this website. It’s incredible to see how far I’ve come, now being able to claim:
A finished manuscript of Storge
A 3rd draft of Runaways after going through 2 rounds of Beta Readers
8 short stories and an audio drama
An active mailing list
Over 1000 followers on tumblr, but more importantly, a thriving community of writers who support each other’s releases through ARCs, leaving reviews, enthusiastic questions, and a welcoming space for new writers to share their craft.
140 posts on my website and regular readers who care about my ramblings ❤
Now I’m on my way to my new job – I’ll be doing research and development in my chosen field with a team I really like, and the freedom to listen to books while I’m in the lab. This next month will still be a hiatus for blog posts and new writing as I pack up my life for a cross-states move, but I’m beyond excited to enter change. My hope is that I can start saving for editing costs and devote more time to my craft thanks to a 9-5 schedule and NO!!! HOMEWORK!!!!!!!!! Really, I cannot say enough how thrilled I am to never have to take another exam ever again, thank GOD. With a bit of luck and no small amount of grace, I hope I can publish and share my stories with you sooner rather than later.
Thank you for all the support and camaraderie these past years. In a way, I owe this diploma to you as much as to my classmates and professors. The night before graduation, I said to my friends, “I’ve been waiting for tomorrow for eight years.” Now I’m living in the future, and I can’t wait to write the next chapter.

Genre Writing Game
Here's a new writeblr tag game from @creativepromptsforwriting! I got prompt #999!
"You can stop hugging me now."
"No, I don't think I can."
Tagging to play @afoolandathief, @amethystpath-writes, @annakayy, @dyrewrites, @gummybugg,
@kaatiba, @those-damn-snippets, @tildeathiwillwrite, @serenanymph, @surplus-of-sarcasm,
and @written-in-starlight, as well as anyone else who wants to play!
Without further ado! Let's start with!
Horror:
She pulled him in close, and he tried to push on her shoulders to keep her away. But she was strong, stronger than he expected, and she pressed him to her chest and hummed, wrapping her arms around him.
The hairs on the back of his neck prickled. He didn't know what else to do, so he just waited. She could get her hug out, and then he would pull away. But three seconds passed. Then five. Ten. Her arms were getting cold. He was getting the creeps, feeling like something was crawling slowly up his back.
"Y…you can stop hugging me now," he breathed, afraid to upset her. She took in a deep breath. It sounded like it rattled in her chest.
"No," she said, but her voice was wrong. It creaked and groaned like a tree. Something was crawling up into his hair. "I don't think I can."
Thriller:
"Oh, Sammy!" he called, waving animatedly at her. She raised an eyebrow, and stiffened when he ran up to her. He was fast, and he got her in a hug before she could decide if she needed to evade him or not. He was big and warm around her, his hands spread wide over her back. It might have been nice if she wasn't so confused. And if he wasn't still holding her.
"Brent," she said lowly, half-warningly, "you can stop hugging me now."
"No," he uttered. There was nothing cheerful about that tone. "I don't think I can. Carefully, look up on that building, with the coffee shop?" She set her hands on his waist, peeking through his lightly spiked hair. "Second floor from the top. Left window."
"I see it," she uttered, looking directly at the glint in the window, the silhouette of a person with a rifle trained on her.
Comedy:
Mom flinched and nearly dropped her lemonade when Chris all but tackled her. She chuckled politely and hugged him back. I looked him over. "Dude," I said. He was practically buzzing, like a big dog wagging their tail too fast.
Mom patted his back. "Okay, alright, you can stop hugging me now," she said.
"No," he replied, dreamily, almost to himself, still hugging her like a big puppy, "I don't think I can."
"Chris!" I snapped. How was it physically possible for my friend to embarrass me in front of my mom?!
"Stacy," Mom said, "inside voice."
Fantasy:
He sighed with relief when the lock finally came undone. He threw the cage door open and she burst out of it, knocking him back with the door, and they both fell to the ground. He grunted at the impact of the stone floor, of her falling onto him, but then she wrapped her arms around him, and he held her close.
"Thanks for coming back," she whispered.
"I couldn't leave my heart behind," he said back. She hugged him tighter, and he expected her to let go, but she didn't. It was a bit tight to keep up. He tried to wriggle his neck free, but her hold was too secure. "Sorry," he half-choked, "we should go." They both grunted when he tried to sit up. "You can stop hugging me now."
"No?" she gasped, struggling, somehow pulling on him as she did. "I-I don't think I can." She was frantic already, and when he tried to let go of her, he found himself stuck. His gut went cold.
"Wizard?!" he called out.
Romance:
He opened the door, and his heart leapt to see her there, standing tall and beautiful over him. She looked him in the eye, and he shivered, taking a step back.
"Invite me in," she whispered. She could have charmed him to do it. But he could tell his mind was his own. He licked his lips.
"Please," he whispered, "come i—"
She was on him at once, wrapped around him, bearing down on him, covering him. He grabbed at her back, holding on as if for dear life. Shaking. Out of fear or… excitement, he couldn't tell. And she just held him. And held him, and held him. How long had she said it'd been for her? Did she know what to do next?
"Okay," he breathed, and though he didn't want her to move, he knew he should help her. "You… you can stop hugging me now," he offered. She hummed, deep and buttery rich against him.
"No," she purred, making him shiver again, "I don't think I can." He took a breath to question her, and then her lips were on his, and he wrapped his arms around her and held her tightly anew.

Experiment FAQ
What is the Experiment?
Originally, I designed this experiment to help myself out when I was having a hard time getting writing done just after getting a new job.  My lack of energy and feeling like I had no one to share my progress with started to get me down.
So I came up with an idea: for every ask I received here on my writing blog, I would write at least 100 words before I answered it!  This method worked wonders for me because it gave me a caveat: if I wanted to interact with the community, I had to get some writing done.  It has since grown, and now over 30 other writeblrs are participating!
How Do I Participate?
It’s as simple as deciding that you want to start using this method, too!  I encourage you to let me know so I can add you to the participants list (linked below) and send a ‘checking in’ ask every once in a while, but that is not a requirement!
You can let me know via DM, reply, reblog, or through an ask! If you send me an ask, I will add you as soon as I get it, but I won't publicly answer until after I've written my 100 words XD
What are the Rules?
You get an ask, you write a hundred words, you answer it.  That’s it!  You can decide if you want to keep track of your progress, or answer the asks normally with no indication that you’re even participating.
Some have taken the idea and made it their own.  For instance, @sleepyowlwrites designates some time when the experiment applies, but otherwise is not always using this method.  @antique-symbolism asks that, if you want your ask to apply, you write “100” before or after, so they know!  And @himbos-hotline switched it from 100 words per ask to 15 minute sprints per ask!  All variations are valid and welcome, that’s why it’s called an “experiment,” it’s about finding what works for you!
What Should I Keep Track of and How?
It’s up to you!  I personally add which WIP I worked on, how many words I wrote for that ask, and how much I’ve written for the experiment as a whole.  I write it at the end of every ask after a divider image. It’s motivating for me to see the number slowly tick up at the end of every ask, but it’s a lot to keep track of!  Some only keep track of total, some only list how many the ask generated, and some don’t keep track at all!
If you're looking to use a tag on your blog to keep track of everything, you can use the collective tag "#the great motivation experiment" or you can make up your own!
What if I Don’t Think This Method Will Work for Me?
That’s totally understandable!  For some, this sort of thing can be overwhelming and the opposite of motivational.
If you're curious but uncertain, you can always test it out and decide what to do based on your personal results. If it works, great! If not, you can message me privately and let me know you want to drop out. No sweat! I don't mind adding/subtracting your name to the list as many times as you'd like!
If you’re not interested in participating, but still want to be part of the community, you can always check out the participants list and send asks to motivate your fellow writers!  Everyone on it has signed up and agreed to be tagged!
What if Your FAQ Didn’t Answer My Question?
No worries.  I tried to cover the basics, but I am only human after all.  If you still have questions you can always drop into my inbox!  I’ll happily answer your question as soon as I add 100 words to my own word count :D in the meantime, here are some links that might help.

✨️author ask tag game✨️
Tumblr media
✨️Feeling Extra today! Will choose to Focus on Crater City, but any future Author Tags shall be diverted to the next WIP in line✨️
Tagged here by @mariahwritesstuff! Much obliged :’)
Tagging these fine contestants: @doublegoblin @forthesanityofsome @lyralit @frostedlemonwriter @asterhaze @lostneedcoopcake @writernopal @an-theduckin @sabels-small-sphere
...
(1) What is the main lesson of your story (e.g. kindness, diversity, anti-war), and why did you choose it?
>> Free will is good 👍
>> Just because you can doesn't mean you should
>> Give life your own meaning
>> The dangers of being politically apathetic
I think these are self-explanatory! I think!
(2) What did you use as inspiration for your worldbuilding (like real-life cultures, animals, famous media, websites, etc.)?
Kind of expanded upon this a bit, oops
For the world-building, I'm inspired by things such as Fallout New Vegas, Night Vale, and real life. Music: tends to be a mixture of classic rock + alt + vapor wave + whatever I think is nice tossed in a dryer and pummeled to death.
For more world-building + story-telling/pacing, I am very much Inspired by these webtoons:
>> Solid State
>> The Prince of Southland
>> Lovebot
>> Electric Bones
When I tell you to go check these webtoons out, I mean Go Check Them Out because they're the reason I still have the app!
For characters, they are named/inspired by objects and it just kind of stuck until their names got rearranged. Everyone generally has a symbol/color assigned to them, idk it's probably synesthesia to some degree. But it helps me categorize things + it fits their vibes. To name a few:
>> Blair: heart, red
>> Elijah: star, yellow
>> Darcy: moon, cobalt
>> Melony: Venus flytrap, bright green
I could rant all day about their vibes and mood boards! But we only have so much attention span on this single post, yeah?
(3) What is your MC trying to achieve, and what are you, the writer, trying to achieve with them? Do you want to inspire others, teach forgiveness, help readers grow as a person?
Blair wants to prove to himself and others that he has worth and a purpose even though others/the government thinks otherwise.
Elijah wishes he could stop running from his problems and just ask for help, but that's kinda hard if [SPOILERS]. Yeah, so that's kind of a Huge bummer.
No one cares what Darcy wants. He's mean. (Any fanletters addressed to him that wind up in Frasier's pile get promptly thrown away.)
Aside from that, I've always wanted to inspire others through my work but kind of implicitly. Or like “oh have you seen that one story it's so wild” in an obscure way. Not really in a cult-following way, but like an urban legend or classic story kind of way. I would like to drop my story into the world and disappear without a trace, hehehe
(4) How many chapters is your story going to have?
42
(5) Is it fanfiction or original content? Where do you plan to post it?
Original content! Due to its Nature, I'm planning something Much Larger than a typical novel layout. Somewhere online... or somewhere else in a Metaphysical sense. Or implanted in everyone's heads as a distant memory of what could've been, hehehe
It all comes down to if I will ever be able to code as great as Elijah someday (we both hold ourselves to very high Standards, you know).
(6) When and why did you start writing?
I started writing this story July 27, 2022. Oh wait, that date has passed, it's now been a year!
But it's ok, I often forget my own birthday.
I started writing because I became fixated on the idea of just some chill guy in a hectic world then ran with it, and here I am a year later, still as obsessed with these hooligans as ever. I like the seemingly dumbass hero and intelligent villain trope, I suppose.
(7) Do you have any words of engagement for fellow writers of Writeblr? What other writers of Tumblr do you follow?
I tend to follow accounts that inspire me to write or become a better person in general. This can range from being a better writer to positivity to pushing myself to get up and be productive because lord knows I need some good ol peer pressure to jumpstart my brain.
The parting message:
Remember why you're writing. Keep your reasons somewhere you can see it, like a sticky note on your mirror. It can be a motivation/goal as simple as “because it's what Younger Me would have wanted to see.”
Also, Please organize your files/notebooks. Future You will be so thankful for that. Don't be like Blair and cover each page head to toe with multicolored pens, highlighters, and diagrams. Be more like Frasier, stay organized:

WIP Wednesday Game
It's that time again. Original post here.
Here’s how it works:
In a reblog (or new post w/ rules attached), post up to five (5) filenames of your WIPs; not titles, file names.
Post a snippet from one of them. Snippet must be words you wrote in the last 7 days. We’re posting progress here. If you haven’t made any, go make some and come back to post!
After you’ve posted, people can send you an ask with one of your file names. You must then write 3 sentences in that file. If the filename is one you can’t share from (for example, an event fic), write 3 sentences on it anyway, and then 3 more on another to share.
That’s it! You can invite others to join in, or just post. If you tag me in your post, I will send you an ask request!
If you’re reading this, you’re invited!
If you see someone posting a WIP Wednesday Game snippet, send them an ask! Make them write.
File names:
Crown of Thorns
Nightswimming (Steddie Bigbang)
The Prophetic D&D Game
Time Travel
The Third Task (draft)
Progress Chart (screenshot from Tuesday)
Tumblr media
Snippet and tag list under the cut.
Snippet from The Prophetic D&D Game:
“I don’t know,” Eddie said, wiggling in his seat. “I mean, I could, but it’s a lot of work. I didn’t really think you guys would like the murder-mystery one.”
“No, it’s great,” Jeff said. “Even though you dropped a Lord of the Rings reference in the first sentence of backstory.”
“What? Where?”
“Kiteshire?” Jeff raised his eyebrows.
“Shire is a perfectly valid suffix for a town.”
“For a sleepy farming village, yes,” Gareth said. “Not for a castle town. It was square one for Eddie-DM-Bingo.”
“Man, fuck off, Gare. I hate that you made those. I’m not that predictable.”
“Also a kite is a kind of hawk,” Grant said, not looking up from the character sheet. “So that’s square number two. Pun on Hawkins, again.”
“Oh my god.” Jeff leaned back in his chair and laughed. “Is it really?”
“He’s getting better at it though,” Grant said. “Remember Kestrelton?”
“Or Ospreyburg,” said Gareth.
“Or Buzzard Bay,” said Grant.
“Yes, yes, I abuse the library bestiary on a regular basis,” Eddie said. The other three boys looked at each other for a beat and burst out laughing, and Eddie had to let his head thump against the table when he realized what he’d said. “Christ, I’m just glad the little sheep weren’t here to hear that.”
Tagging: Fuckit, tagging everyone who has made it onto my writeblr list: @2btheanswertothequestion, @artaxlivs, @atmilliways, @disastardly, @fiore-della-valle, @hellsfireclub, @greenlikethesea, @inairbinad, @kedreeva, @lady-lostmind, @lorifragolina, @momotonescreaming, @nburkhardt, @patchworkgargoyle, @redbirdblogs, @riality-check, @scarcrossdlvrs, @scoops-stevie, @sidekick-hero, @spicysix, @steves-strapcollection, @stobinesque, @gigglebug

Well hello there
Hey, hi, hello. I'm Elspeth. Elsa or Els work, too. Or Chrismerle if you just wanna stick with usernames. There have been a few iterations of my pinned post, but I figured it was about time to put together a new one.
I'm in my 30s. Greyromantic asexual. Nonbinary. I prefer they/them but honestly I'll take whatever pronouns you lob at me. I crochet. I make jewelry. I do tarot readings. I write (mostly ghostwriting lately, but sometimes I have time to write something I can actually share on tumblr). I edit. I do a bunch of things.
This blog is mostly a mishmash of fandom stuff, art stuff, some political stuff, and cute animals. I don't try to stick to any one theme in particular. Theoretically, I'm a writeblr blog, and I'm open to tag games or answering questions about my WIPs, but I'm very inactive as a writeblr because of work. My queue spits out 30 posts a day and is generally loaded for at least 10 to 15 days out, and I also periodically reblog random shit on the spot.
My WIPs:
#wip: threshold: Portal fantasy of mixed/indeterminate subgenre, wherein a bunch of young adults from the regular world get lured through a portal and stranded, and need to be guided back home. Complications occur. (Smells a bit like Fallen London.)
#wip: brothers: Short story exploring what it means to find your own identity when you've only ever been part of a package deal before.
#wip: eigengrau: Vaguely European low(-ish) fantasy dealing with gods and fae being fickle, zombies, cults, and a zombie cult.
#wip: ties that bind: Honestly I don't even fucking know. I've started it over twice and haven't liked it either time. It's vaguely about people finally getting to tell their own story after the world has silenced them and made up a story for them, but the story itself keeps falling to shit.
#series: rags 'n' addy: It's an oddball series of one shots primarily following the characters Ragnarok and Adam. Sort of horror, sort of fantasy, sort of rustic sci-fi. Happy to accept one shot prompts if you want to give one.
Most of my original, non-reblogged posts:
#actual journaling: Mostly me yammering on about my day or my pets.
#elsa liveblogs nonsense: My running commentary on whatever I am watching, playing, or reading at the moment.
#writeblr: All of my original fiction writing stuff, including my WIPs and some things that otherwise weren't tagged.
#jewelry drop: Stuff I've made for my Etsy shop. Not all of it is actually jewelry, but I didn't want too many tags just for the shop.
Support me:

Writerblr Word Finder Tag Game!
@lauravanarendonkbaugh has tagged me in a #Writeblr game and it’s my first time doing this!!! Hopefully it makes sense, I'm using my beloved from “The Monolith’s Reign: Chronicles of the Tower Wars”!!
[TW FOR THE BLISTER ONE: Wounds, pus, description of wounds in general and a d*ad body!!!!]
None:
The echoing clack of Kadjade's boots reverberated through the marble corridors of the Tower of Apex, her sharp gaze slicing through the air like a blade. With each step, her determination radiated, a palpable aura that commanded attention and respect. Her dark hair cascaded around her shoulders like a waterfall of midnight, framing a face etched with determination and defiance.
None dared to meet her gaze directly as she strode past, her presence demanding obedience without a word spoken. She was the epitome of strength, her every movement a testament to her skill and ferocity. None could match her in combat, her prowess on the battlefield unmatched by any other in the Vanguard.
As she passed a group of chattering new recruits, her patience wore thin. With a flick of her wrist, she intervened, her words laced with the bite of sarcasm.
"None of you have the discipline to be worthy of the Vanguard," she spat, her tone dripping with disdain. "If you spent half as much time training as you do gossiping, perhaps you'd stand a chance."
The recruits fell silent under her withering glare, their eyes cast downward in shame, their nervous energy palpable in the air. But even in the face of her intimidating presence, their tongues seemed to loosen, the words tumbling out in a stream of chatter.
"We heard the council is still refusing to name you captain," one of them ventured tentatively, a hint of sympathy in their voice.
Kadjade's jaw clenched at the mention of the council's obstinance, a bitter taste rising in the back of her throat. "None of your concern," she snapped, her tone sharp enough to cut through steel.
But they pressed on, oblivious to her simmering anger. "But you're the best fighter we've ever seen! It's not fair," another piped up, their words laced with genuine admiration.
Her patience worn thin, Kadjade's dark eyes flashed with frustration. "Do you have any idea what's lurking beyond these walls?" she hissed, her voice dropping to a dangerous whisper. "Monsters, waiting to tear you limb from limb. Do you think your idle gossip will protect you when they come crawling out of the shadows?"
The recruits paled at her words, their bravado evaporating in an instant. Images of gnashing teeth and bloodied claws danced in their minds, filling them with a bone-deep terror they could hardly comprehend.
Kadjade watched with grim satisfaction as the reality of their situation sank in, the weight of her words hanging heavy in the air like a shroud. "Train harder," she spat, her tone final. "Or none of you will survive the night."
Unbelievable:
The digital dummies flickered to life as Kadjade launched herself into a whirlwind of strikes and kicks, her movements fluid and precise. Each blow landed with a satisfying thud, the simulated opponents dissipating into pixels under the force of her onslaught.
Her trainer, a grizzled veteran with a steely gaze, watched from the sidelines, his arms crossed over his chest. "Is that the best you've got, Kadjade?" he taunted, his voice laced with mockery. "I've seen newborns with more fight in them."
Her jaw clenched at his words, a simmering rage building in the pit of her stomach. With a snarl, she redoubled her efforts, her attacks coming faster and fiercer than before.
"Pathetic," he sneered, his tone dripping with disdain. "No wonder the council refuses to name you captain. You're nothing but a waste of space."
Her temper flared at the mention of the title she coveted, her fists tightening with pent-up frustration. "You think you're so special, don't you?" she spat, her voice dripping with venom. "Just because you stumbled into that title doesn't make you a real leader."
Unfazed by her barbs, the trainer smirked, his eyes glinting with amusement. "And what would you know about leadership, Kadjade? You're barely fit to hold a sword, let alone command an army."
Her muscles burned with exertion as she pressed on, her determination unyielding despite the relentless barrage of insults. With each strike, she channeled her anger into her training, her resolve unwavering in the face of adversity.
As the session wore on, Kadjade pushed herself to the brink of exhaustion, her breaths coming in ragged gasps. But through sheer force of will, she persevered, her movements becoming a blur of motion as she unleashed her full strength against the digital adversaries.
And as the last dummy dissolved into nothingness beneath her onslaught, a sense of exhilaration swept over her, a triumphant grin spreading across her face. "I swear...," her trainer muttered, his voice tinged with grudging admiration. "Maybe there's hope for you yet, Kadjade."
But she wasn't done. Far from it. Kadjade's sleek ponytail clung to the nape of her neck, dampened by sweat as she launched herself into another round of furious attacks. Her chest heaved with exertion, each breath a labored gasp as she pushed herself beyond her limits. The black training uniform clung to her body like a second skin, darkened patches of moisture spreading across the fabric as she fought on, eyes locked on her targets.
"Higher level!" she barked, her voice sharp and commanding, cutting through the air like a whip. "I want dual blades, and bring on the fucking rain!"
The room obeyed her commands with a flicker of digital magic, the simulated environment shifting to accommodate her demands. Dark clouds gathered overhead, heavy with the promise of a downpour, and within moments, rain began to pour from the ceiling in a torrential cascade.
Undeterred by the deluge, Kadjade continued to fight, her movements fluid and precise despite the slick surface beneath her feet. With a swift motion, she reached for the dual blades at her side, the weight of the weapons familiar and comforting in her grasp.
The rain soaked through her uniform, plastering it to her skin as she spun and slashed with lethal precision. But amidst her battle cries and grunts, her trainer's voice interjected, his taunts driving her forward even as they grated against her nerves.
"Is that the best you can do, Kadjade? Unbelievable. I've seen children with more skill than you!" he jeered, his tone dripping with condescension.
Gritting her teeth against the rain and her frustration, Kadjade shot back, her voice sharp and defiant. "Maybe if you spent less time mocking and more time training, you'd be worth something, too!"
Her words hung in the air like a challenge, daring him to prove her wrong. But instead of rising to the bait, her trainer merely chuckled, a smug grin playing at the corners of his lips.
"Ah, but where's the fun in that?" he replied, his tone infuriatingly casual and a grin slowly but surely appearing on his lips. "You wouldn't be half as entertaining if you weren't so determined to prove me wrong."
Blister:
The corridors of the Tower of Apex were alive with whispered rumors, a sense of unease hanging heavy in the air like a shroud. Kadjade stormed through the throng of people, her annoyance palpable as she demanded answers to the chaos that seemed to envelop the tower.
"What's going on here?" she snapped, her voice sharp with irritation. "Why is everyone whispering like frightened children?"
But her questions were met with uneasy glances and stammered excuses, the truth remaining elusive as she pressed on, determined to uncover the source of the commotion.
And then she saw them. Two figures moving with purpose, their faces drawn tight with grim determination as they maneuvered a body concealed beneath a blood-soaked sheet. Without hesitation, Kadjade followed, her curiosity outweighing her apprehension as she trailed after them into a dimly lit room.
What she saw there turned her stomach, a wave of nausea rising in her throat as she took in the blistered, swollen form laid out before her. The stench of decay hung heavy in the air, threatening to overwhelm her senses as she struggled to comprehend the sight before her.
"What… what happened to them?" she managed to choke out, her voice barely above a whisper as she fought to keep the bile at bay.
The figures turned to face her, their expressions grim as they revealed the truth behind the horror before them. "We found them at the bottom of the Apex," one of them explained, their voice heavy with sorrow. "They were crawling, desperate to get back inside."
The body lay sprawled on a cold, metal table, shrouded in a blood-stained sheet that did little to conceal the horror beneath but not for long. And as Kadjade approached closer, she could see the blistered, swollen skin, marred by deep, angry welts that oozed with pus and bile.
Beside the body stood the trainers and teachers of the Vanguard, their faces drawn tight with sorrow and disbelief. These were the men and women she had trained alongside, comrades in arms bound by a common purpose. But now, they seemed like strangers, their expressions masked with a veneer of stoicism as they grappled with the enormity of the tragedy before them.
And then there was Amath, a figure of authority and power, his presence a looming shadow in the dimly lit room. He watched with a mixture of concern and detachment, his gaze fixed on the body before him as though searching for answers that remained stubbornly out of reach.
As Kadjade approached, she saw one of the trainers reach out with gloved hands, gently prodding the blistered flesh with a mixture of revulsion and curiosity. The sight made her stomach churn, bile rising in her throat as she struggled to keep her composure.
"Please," she whispered hoarsely, her voice barely above a whisper. "Stop."
Amath's somber gaze shifted to Kadjade as she intervened, her plea hanging heavy in the air like a desperate prayer. For a moment, his expression softened, a flicker of empathy crossing his features before the weight of duty settled back into the lines of his face.
"This cannot go unanswered," Amath declared, his voice low and commanding, cutting through the solemn silence of the room. "We cannot afford to ignore the threat that looms within our midst."
The trainers and teachers nodded in solemn agreement, their faces grim with determination as they exchanged uneasy glances. This was not the first body they had encountered, nor was it likely to be the last. The threat was real, and it was growing with each passing day. And they had to do something.
"This marks the fourth body in as many days," one of the trainers murmured, his voice heavy with resignation. "We cannot allow this to continue unchecked."
Amath nodded in agreement, his jaw set with determination as he turned to address the room. "We will increase patrols throughout the tower," he declared, his tone unwavering. "No corner will go unsearched, no shadow left unexamined. We will find whoever is responsible for this, and we will bring them to justice."
Sweet:
The gardens of the tower sprawled out before her, a verdant oasis nestled within the stone walls of the fortress. Lush greenery enveloped the space, vibrant blooms bursting forth in a riot of color beneath the warm rays of the sun. Fragrant flowers perfumed the air with their sweet scent, mingling with the earthy scent of freshly turned soil.
As Kadjade watched the new recruits frolic in the water, her heart warmed at the sight of their unbridled joy. They splashed and laughed with abandon, their youthful exuberance infectious as they reveled in the simple pleasures of the garden.
Tall, graceful trees provided shelter from the midday sun, their branches swaying gently in the breeze as dappled light danced across the emerald carpet of grass below. Butterflies flitted amongst the flowers, their delicate wings shimmering in the golden light as they danced from bloom to bloom.
Nearby, a babbling brook meandered its way through the garden, its crystal-clear waters glistening in the sunlight as it wound its way towards a small pond at the center of the oasis. Ducks paddled lazily in the water, their cheerful quacks echoing through the tranquil space.
As Kadjade stepped closer to the water's edge, she felt the warmth of the sun on her skin, its golden rays bathing her in a sweet, comforting embrace And for a fleeting moment, she allowed herself to forget the weight of her responsibilities, losing herself in the simple pleasure of the moment.
But as she lingered, lost in the warmth of their laughter, a voice shattered the moment like glass, pulling her back to the harsh reality of her duties. It was her trainer, his eyes alight with amusement as he caught sight of her uncharacteristic smile.
"Well, well, well, what do we have here?" he teased, his grin widening as he sauntered over to her side. "Kadjade, the fearless warrior, caught with a smile on her face. I never thought I'd see the day."
With a steely determination, she squared her shoulders and met her trainer's gaze head-on. But as Kadjade tried to hide her smile, her trainer's teasing voice cut through the air like a knife, his words dripping with a playful edge.
"You finally decided to join the land of the living?" he chuckled, his grin wide and mischievous. "I thought maybe you'd forgotten how to smile, Kadjade. That this was something foreign to you."
She shot him a sidelong glance, her own smile fading as she prepared herself for the inevitable barrage of teasing. "Don't get too excited, Rurh," she retorted, her tone sharp but playful. "It's not every day I get to see new recruits making fools of themselves in the gardens."
Her trainer chuckled at her comeback, his laughter warm and genuine as he clapped her on the shoulder. "Ah, but where's the fun in that?" he replied, his grin widening. "Besides, I think you secretly enjoy watching them stumble around like newborn foals."
Kadjade rolled her eyes at his remark, unable to suppress a smirk despite her best efforts. "Maybe I do," she conceded with a shrug. "But don't let it go to your head. You're still as insufferable as ever."
Her trainer laughed at her jab, his eyes twinkling with amusement as he leaned in closer. "Ah, but you wouldn't have me any other way, would you, Sweetheart?" he teased, his voice softening with affection.
She couldn't help but smile at his words, the sharp edges of their banter softened by the warmth of their camaraderie. "Don't push your luck, old man," she replied, her tone teasing but fond. "You're lucky I tolerate you at all, Rurh."
Thank you so much for tagging me, and I sadly don't know a lot of people here so if you peeps want to do it, feel free to tag me as you complete it!!! My words are: Violet, Daisies, Watchtower and Ashore !!

Hello! This post is a one-stop shop (?) post of my short intro and links to my WIPs. Might be updated from time to time.
𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙢𝙚
Welcome to my Writeblr! Where I post memes and bellyache about my most favorite thing in the world, which is writing. My name is Sofia, 21+, she/her. I have another intro here (where I basically say the same thing) and I write mostly fantasy stories and some poetry on the side.
General Content Warnings: mentions of death (in WIPs, mostly), violence (towards non-existing entities), foul words. Will fight tooth and nail to keep this writeblr at least R-16. Capital letters more often than not as testament to my feelings, excessive use of colloquial vernacular expressions like 'korique' (literally correct, means agreement or acknowledgement of fact) and 'eme' (means just kidding, kidding, it's a joke).
Not Okay with homophobics, terfs, and general hate speech purveyors. I can respect preferences but I do not tolerate bullying and prejudice.
A-Okay with writing tag games (even if we have never interacted!!), receiving random asks about my WIP, or you sharing things and tidbits about your WIP.

Now three mighty kingdoms stand in its place, and yet remnants of the curses of the ancient empire still linger up to this day. The exiled heir to a powerful bloodline, Nyx Asteria wants nothing to do with curses and ancient empires. All she wants is to remove the seal burning on her back that forces her magic to feed on her own veins and carry on quietly as the handmaiden to the Duke’s Daughter. Just as she’s getting used to her new job and identity, she becomes an offering to the pirate captain of the Shadow. So Nyx does what she does best and bargains for her life, entering what is already a shaky agreement and turning it into a soul-binding contract. Never mind that she can’t even do magic without feeling like she’s dying. Never mind that she’s with a band of peculiar pirates, united by their own selfish goals. Never mind that their captain’s notoriety reaches the ends of worlds, bordering on legend at best and sounding like fabrications at worst. Nyx knew, though. I was tagged in this super cool Get to Know My OC game by @gummybugg !! Thank you a lot! Their answer is here
I choose my sweetest baby, Guan Zhuyu.
A dark figure walked past one of the pavilions in the household of the Minister Herald. Their chin was high and their posture relaxed. Good for me. I jumped at them from behind and pushed them to one of the empty rooms, which were used only during the day. Guan Zhuyu glanced around in panic but couldn't find any easy escape route. I flexed my muscles. They didn't really notice.
"Easy. I will ask a couple of questions, you will answer - that's all," I explained, trying to imitate Jigsaw. They nodded, clearly unimpressed by my amazing acting skills yet still worried. I decided to drop the act, "it's just a writeblr game. No gore."
1. Are you named after anyone?
Surely not. My courtesy name means beautiful writing (珠玉) and my given name is harmony (和) so... it is more possible that I was named after something. But I can't tell.
2. When was the last time you cried?
Like... ten minutes ago?
3. Do you have kids?
No. Absolutely not. And I will never have them, don't even scare me. Guan Zhuyu dramatically fanned themselves.
4. Do you use sarcasm?
Hmm... sometimes, for artistic purposes. However, I do not enjoy it.
5. What's the first thing you notice about people?
Their posture. Are they tightly upright? Is their head tilted? Second thing has to be hair, that's generally how I recognize people. Please, stop changing your hairstyles.
6. What's your eye color?
Dark like an eye of a raven.
7. Scary movies or happy endings?
Oh, happy endings, definitely. If we can't have any of them in the real life, why don't let ourselves dream a little?
8. Any special talents?
Pouring tea. No one can do this more gracefully than me~
9. Where were you born?
In the capital city, on the outskirts. Growing up, my greatest longing was for the grand mountains of our kingdom, which I could so clearly see from our windows. Then I learnt that the side effect of climbing is sweat.
10. What are your hobbies?
Oh, I'm glad you asked. Writing poetry is my main passion, and I was very lucky to find a couple of friends who listen to them. Besides, I like to try new things whenever I have on occasion, meaning I have a new hobby every week.
11. Have you any pets?
No.
12. What sports do you play/have played?
I am not a very athletic person. Running around the ministry usually fulfils my need for exercise, but I do enjoy some archery or qigong every now and then.
13. How tall are you?
Tall enough to see the top of head of the most of the men, just barely.
14. Favorite subject in school?
Calligraphy was a perfect balance between painting and writing.
15. Dream job?
No job. I am a parasite. What I like to do I do for no money and what I don't like to do... I have to do.
Zhuyu's gaze was eager and I begun to feel embarrassed. For a minute or two I was fidgeting with my fingers, then I finally admitted, "that's all."
"What a shame," they whispered and silently exited the room.

Find the Word
I was tagged twice by @on-noon to find two sets of words in my WIPs, so I’m combining both sets into a single post. Thank you for tagging me, and giving me a chance to play my favorite writeblr game after being away for a few days.
My Words: train, trying, stressed, intricate, translate, front, frame, freeze, free, friend
I’ll tag: @wynter-of-dusk, @houndsofcorduff, @junypr-camus, @aohendo, @365runesofwriting, @calicojackofficial, and as always anyone who wants to join in the game can use the following words and say I tagged them!
Your Words: skate, stall, brush, crave, veil
With so many words to find, this post is going to get long – so I’ll put the WIP exerpts themselves under a cut as usual. If I can’t find a word, I’ll share a fun fact related to the word instead.
I found train(ed) in my novel WIP “A Place to Return”:
Still... he takes a moment to read more recent entries instead of the script itself. Owen sounds so excited in them. He's been having so much fun figuring out how to hunt, how to refine his fishing techniques, how to use weapons so he can (shakily, according to his mentor) replicate the skills Leo had trained in before leaving home, how to use magic items. Every other sentence asks a new question, not only curious but also clearly eager to make it so that when they do swap back Leo returns to the best conditions possible.
I found trying in the same WIP, a little before the last excerpt:
"I can... ask her to transfer some money... if you need it?" Kelly is trying so hard to act like the responsible older brother. It's like he's standing there with a handful of sunset berries, dropping a few as he struggles to hand them over. Wait. Not that. On Earth it's an olive branch, isn't it? Like he's holding out an olive branch, whatever that looks like, and hoping his little brother will take the other end.
I found stressed in the script draft of my Sk8 the Infinity Matchablossom fic “Flipping a Switch”, in a scene where most of the Sk8 cast is having a meal at Joe’s restaurant:
Miya: (rolling his eyes): Give him a break, guys. He might be an idiot, but it's not like he controls how busy this place is.
Hiromi: He controls how many employees he has serving people!
Miya: Oh, so now you know what it takes to run a restaurant?
[Hiromi and Miya devolve into an argument about restaurants in general, completely ignoring their friends.]
Reki: Seriously, though, Joe, I was just messing with you. We came here to hang out, not to get you stressed.
Langa: I really am hungry, though.
Reki: Yeah. That's true. But Joe's got work to do, so...
Langa (only a little sad): Yeah.
Kojiro: Thanks, but I don't want to leave any customers hungry. Especially when they're my friends. Just let me get these last few people at the counter, and I'll take your order myself.
I didn’t find intricate in any particular WIP, but I did find it in some worldbuilding for a world in my story collection WIP “Love as Indicated”:
The year on Ait'kulith KIT 1B, in many countries, starts in May because that is the month when common Nightingales, known to have particularly complex/intricate mating songs, begin advertising for mates. Birds in general are seen as heralds of the Goddess of Fate, and nightingales in particular embody the importance of music in this world. Their mating season ends in late August, and so the first 4 months of the year are marked by their singing.
I didn’t find translate in any particular WIP, but I did find it in some worldbuilding about one of my magic systems, Soul Magic:
There are materials available for studying the basics of Soul Magic. These usually recount what other Soul Mages have found useful in the past, like materials that have worked well as vessels for spirits and techniques that have kept souls themselves from losing focus or misinterpreting a mage’s requests/orders. However, there are no materials to translate the language of the dead, which is at the core of Soul Magic itself. Souls speak in a way that simply cannot be translated unless you've learned directly, through sustained exposure to their language – especially from a young age. If you can't speak their language, then trial and error is your best chance to figure out how to communicate. Good luck.
I found front in my novel WIP “To Be Honest”, in a scene containing a brief mention of blood:
"You can't even see what's right in front of your face! This is what you want!" Micah opens his eyes and immediately regrets his decision. The shadow walking towards him glimmers with magic and the reflective shine of liquid, only the barest semblance of a human being beneath a coat of blood. There's no trace of David here. He probably hasn't been talking to his actual brother at any point. Just this. It stomps its formless feet across the dirt and reaches out its arms until there's a squish against his chest and a pressure that pushes him toward the ground.
I found frame in an unfinished, untitled short story from back when I was trying to write a complete story every day back in February – about a guy asking a dragon for an insomnia cure:
He catches himself looking around at the source of that blue-green glow, surprised by the sheer size of some of the holo-screens that fill up every open space on every wall in the room. They're not all the exact same size, but a few of them take up so much space that he wonders how they hadn't blinded him the second he'd arrived. The largest screen sits across from the couch, stretching to the corners of its wall. The display itself is either frozen or paused on what looks like a still frame from a movie. The scene shows two people offering wound up circles of flowers and clovers to a third person under a tree in a meadow. Everyone's smiling. The one being offered flowers even looks like they might be laughing. If he could stop holding his breath and make the scene un-pause, he knows he'd hear words and sounds that would... that would... he's not exactly sure what they would do or how long he's been holding his breath, but nothing happens when he starts breathing again and he can't help feeling disappointed.
I found freeze in the second draft of my Danny Phantom fic "Lingering Scars":
She's probably feeling some of the same things he'd felt in that bathroom, watching the marks of his own emotional turmoil disappear and reappear as he'd transformed. Shell-shocked and horrified, realizing that the things they'd thought were simple paths from infliction to recovery are actually more winding trails with forks that lead to unwanted places. He doesn't let his clone linger in that space, turned around at the road behind her and letting its twisting maze overwhelm her. The first time you see it can be a paralyzing and heavy moment. It can freeze you in the most literal way -- even without ice powers.
I found free in my short story WIP "Kiyo":
"Sure thing," I get my own words out as steadily as I can manage. I'm not really sure what else to do, so I place my free hand over the vines on my wrist and gently pat them. "Thank you, too," I realize I'm still talking before I know what I'm trying to say, "I probably didn't do a good job keeping you healthy, but you've done a really good job at... I guess I never said it to you before, actually. Thank you for keeping me alive. That's what you've been doing these past few months, but I didn't say it until now. So. Thank you, Kiyo. You've helped me with so many things, just by being there. I'm grateful for that. I'm glad I got to know you."
I found friend in my novel WIP "To Be Honest":
"You went all quiet. Oh. Oh, did you see a friend and not want to be seen talking to your cousins in front of people you actually like?" Finn gasps, drawing the sound out so Micah can imagine them holding their palms dramatically over their mouth -- vivid enough to make even Micah roll his eyes at the phone involuntarily, "Micah! You're making friends in college? That's amazing!"
This ended up being a really long post, as expected, but I found more of these words than I'd expected. This was a really fun challenge!

Hello! For the "end of the year - writeblr ask game ": 1, 4, and 13
what was your writing-highlight this year? what made it special and how will you reflect on it next year?
already answered, but: I published The Stray Spirit back in August! :D Definitely the highlight.
what is your favourite line you wrote this year?
LOL okay, that requires me to pick from either Stray Spirit or Rival Most Vial, because technically I finished writing both of those this year.
here, for context, I'll give you my favorite part of The Stray Spirit (spoilers-ish ahead):
They all fell quiet again until Emry couldn’t stand it.
“Well, the floor is open now,” he tried to joke in a breaking voice. “Time for some disownment, I think? Maybe a few eternal curses for good measure?”
They still said nothing. He gave up and stood, piling the blankets on the chair. “Come on, you must have something to say after over three years of utter disappointment.” Tears burned his eyes. “Just get it all out now. You can say I told you so, I fully admit it! I didn’t make it on my own, I nearly got my ex-girlfriend killed in a drop, I barely got myself here in one piece, I…” He dropped his arm from his gesture at the door. “Please, why won’t you say anything?”
“Emry.” His mother stood, her eyes shining. “We know you. Is there anything we can say that you haven’t already told yourself a thousand times?”
Aspen looked at him. Emry wiped at his cheeks. “No.”
“Yes, there is.” His father stood as well. In the firelight, he truly did look like an older mirror image of Emry as he walked over and placed his hands on his son’s shoulders. “We love you, we’re proud of you, and we’re so happy you’re with us.”
how did you change as a writer? did you learn anything new? started to plan instead of pants? share your wisdom!
HOO boy, okay, I learned so much:
I learned a lot about the marketing side of indie publishing
I learned a lot about editing and revising, since I finished 2 books this year (incidentally, also my first books I've never really 'finished' to this degree)
I'm afraid I don't have any quippy wisdom, but I do have a lot of posts in my self publishing tag and writing advice tag!
Thanks for the asks!!

Positivity Writing Tag
Alright, so I know that this sort of thing has probably been done before, but I don’t think there can ever be enough positivity on this hellsite.  I’ll be tagging a lot of people at the end so if you don’t want to participate that’s perfectly fine.  I’ll start off.  Here goes nothing!
What do you take pride in with your own writing?
I take immense pride in how I paint my scene.  There are always so many opportunities to make a story come to life, and I love taking advantage of as many of them as I can.  Sensory descriptions are a big help with immersion in my stories as well as a sparse touch of internal dialogue or particular quirks I’ve given my OCs with character centric scenes.  It takes a while to get those scenes where I like them, and a lot of editing to boot, but they are always so worth it when I wow one of my readers (or myself on a rare occasion).
Did you have any big inspirations from another writeblr?  Who and how?
I actually do have a couple.  Some of the most amazing writeblrs I’ve seen here include @cogwrites for their incredible advice and writing as well as @brynwrites for their wonderful advice and success (I still need to read “Our Bloody Pearl” I’ve heard it’s so good!).  Honestly, if you’re looking for inspiration to help you get started with a writeblr, I’d look at their blogs.  Of course there are also the ones that are just so active with the community like @forlornraven, @kittensartsbooks, and @boothewriter.  They are always so friendly and open, and they do some incredible work too!  There are so many wonderful writeblrs out there, but I’ll keep it to these few for brevity’s sake.
What are you most proud of in your current WIP?
Well, I haven’t begun the writing portion of “Where They Left Us” yet.  *gasp*  Shocking I know.  All joking aside though, I’m glad that I haven’t taken the leap to start yet because I am doing something that is very difficult for me: plan.  I used to be a pantser, and when I would write, I’d write myself into such a corner that I couldn’t write myself back out and then experience burnout trying.  So now I’ve taken the time to step away and look deeply at my story and where I want it to go.  It’s become intricate with winding turns and twists and in-depth characters.  And even though planning for me is hard and I want to jump into writing every single day and say fuck it, I’m really proud of what I’ve laid out so far.
What is your idea of a perfect day of writing?
My desk is clear of everything but my writing equipment.  There’s a nice mug of coffee to one side and a huge bottle of water on the other.  It’s a little chilly so I have houseshoes and a hoodie on.  I sit and write for hours, stopping only to work the kinks out of my wrists, back, and neck.  My instrumental Pandora station plays until it fades out into a background haze.  One page fills up, then another, before long I have written a dozen pages without worrying myself over editing or what could be wrong.  Night comes, and I actually feel accomplished with what I’ve finished.
What’s your big goal with writing?
This may seem cliché, but I’ve always wanted to reach people with my writing.  When I was young, my situation was not the best you could say.  There were a lot of dark times that popped up, but when it got to be almost unbearable, I’d always find myself reading.  Immersing myself in fantasy and scifi worlds helped me forget the worries of health issues that were out of my control, and amazing tales with grand heroes helped drown out the intense negativity and yelling with hopes for positivity and kindness.  I want to provide that to someone else.  If my book can reach just a person or two, maybe it will help them or inspire them to do more, do better.  Maybe it’ll show them that there’s a little more happiness to the world than what they’re seeing right now.  Sorry, that one got kind of intense... <(o_o )>  I mean, on a lighter note, there’s also just finishing my WIP.  That would be nice.
Whoo that was a lot.  I’ll be tagging  @reeseweston,@hypnocutiegypsy, @forlornraven, @writebruh, @writingwinterridge, @kittensartsbooks, @acutecupidity, and @lady-redshield-writes.  Again, if I tagged you and you would rather not participate, no worries!  But if you see this and you would like to do it without a tag, have a go!
Happy writing lovelies!
