What does the perfect day look like?

Draven: Any day where I'm not being shot at, mauled, or chased is a good day for me! Octavian: Unfortunately, I have to agree with Cozenson. A day of silence is rare for us. Reese: It's raining, I don't have any obligations, my parents are out, and I have a warm drink and a good book.

What time of day is your favorite?

Draven: Sunrise. It usually means I've survived another day. Octavian: Celestials, you're morbid. I also prefer the early morning, but only because it's better for hunting. Reese: Night. I'm mostly left alone to do my own thing.

If you were granted one wish, what would it be?

Draven: That I wasn't fucking shot! Octavian: That the plague never happened. Perhaps then my people would still be around. Reese: *fidgets with her sleeves* that I could have had a normal childhood.

What's the best thing you've ever eaten?

Draven: Celestials, Octavian, do you remember when we went to that noble party in Zariya and they had that one berry pie that you said looked like blood? Because that was delicious. Octavian: I didn't only say it looked like blood, I said it appeared they used bloodberries, called that because the juice is the same color as blood. But you are correct, though I much prefer the berries fresh. Reese: Agreed on that. Also whoever the genius was that first combined coffee with chocolate, I want to give them a hug.

What's the worst injury you've ever had?

Draven: I've been scratched up many times in my line of work, but none of that compares to a classic gunshot wound. Fucked up my shoulder for weeks. Octavian: Almost drowning in a freezing lake is pretty high up there. Reese: *wordlessly points to the scars on her arms*

Do you wish you looked different?

Draven: Celestials, no. Well, sometimes I've wished I was better at disguising myself. I have the type of reputation that leads to people placing bounties on my head. Octavian: Should I? Reese: *shrugs*

Worldbuilding in Five

(if anyone has a better name feel free to use it)

This is a little tag game I came up for us worldbuilders, inspired by the OC in three tag game going around. Rules: post 3-5 images of a place in your world and tell us a bit about it.

I'll go first with the great city of Hadira

Hadira is an ancient city that has been the seat of successive empires since pre-historic times. At the moment, it is the capital of the Empire of Hadria on the Southern Continent.

It is famous for being one of the most populous, and cleanest, cities in the known world, made possible by the extensive aqueducts and pipes carrying clean water around the city, and waste away. Hadria sits at the edge of a growing desert, once a fertile land, that holds keys to ancient secrets long forgotten.

The macaque’s small nose wrinkled, the face markings created black pools and their ink clenched around his big eyes, covering them completely. His head still ached from the fall when the sudden pain in his right thigh and knee made him lose balance. Worse, his torso burnt as if from an unwanted touch. Rage, confusion and fear mixed altogether. A combination so unexpected and unknown, the macaque demon ultimately didn’t know how to react even when he came back from the long dream. An urge to snap at the gang leader and his incompetence built up. He, however, fought it off. He knew better. He must save his strength for a bigger foe. “You didn’t find him, did you? Nor you darned sister you sent that fat duck to.“

MUD

A sharp orange light cut through the veil of the macaque’s eyelids. Not only did it wake him up from a sleep he was unsure whether it belonged to the day or night. The rustling and crunching of old twigs from the firs growing in front of the cave’s entrance underneath the leather boots alerted the nameless macaque, who was tossing on a tattered bed roll dirty from the dried mud and full of parasites waiting in the tall grass nearby.

SNIFF(ED)

Márgerdra leaned back, but Wukong didn’t allow her to walk off. Instead, he shoved his head upwards, which tossed from side to side as his eyelashes fluttered, until he felt her shallow breaths. Wukong sniffed again. His dark eyes lit up.

For context (which I don't think I gave on my first last line tag, whoops!): This is from one of my WIP novels, Rising Sun Over Setting Seas, a fantasy that ties into the world of my ongoing serial novel, L'appel du Vide. Sometime within the near future I'll be making an introductory post to my WIPs and their characters, so that'll hopefully add a bit more context behind these tag games. OST Tag Game

In honor of this dumb meme getting way more attention than I thought it would, I decided to make a tag game out of it!

If your current WIP were a show (animated, live-action, etc.) then what songs would be played during the intro and outro/credit sequences?

My WIP, Stained Integrity, has this soundtrack in the animated series that plays in my head:

Outro: Flight of the Crows (Jhariah)

(Yes I know the songs are from the same album, I just love the vibes so much)

I thought this might be a fun way to share music we like, as well as share some of the vibes that we associate with our WIPs!

This is from a stand alone novel I've been working on instead of my main series. Quick context is that Jett, one of the main characters, just realized that the kid he recently took in has been abused. 😭😭

Messy - An Immortal Thief

‘Blessed’ by the goddess, just like I was, those knives have the ability to inflict wounds that resist the average methods of healing, and they can incapacitate a guard with only a slice to the shoulder rather than the throat. They make stealth missions a lot easier and less messy. If I lose them, the goddess wouldn’t be too pleased with me.

“What are you two even talking about?” Korfel demanded from near the sail, clearly exasperated.  Jarsali stuck her tongue out at him. “You’re just bitter. Laugh once in a while.” “I laugh!” “Not when I’m around you don’t!”

Jas laughed and stomped on the smooth, glass-like rock. Killian expected it to crack like ice, but it held firm. “Come on,” she said, “let’s look inside.”

“This place is a curse,” he hissed, a small plume of blue flame escaping his lips, “you wouldn’t believe the amount of souls roaming unclaimed upon these grounds.
