In defense of Piper McLean
Spoilers for Heroes of Olympus and Trials Of Apollo
TW: brief mentions/discussions of death, racism/bullying towards a poc, and the media’s sexualization of young people raised in the public eye.
Over the time Ive been in the Riordanverse fandom, I’ve found varying opinions about various characters. Piper McLean has proved to be one of the most polarizing.
Before I make my points, please know that I have no problems if you simply dislike Piper’s character. There are many reasons I’ve seen for people to not like Piper as much as some others. This post was made to combat 2 specific points I’ve seen come up as to why Piper is a bad person:
1. Piper’s “not like other girls” attitude
2. Piper didn’t go to Jason’s funeral
1. Piper’s not like other girls attitude and how it ties to her backstory of isolation and lack of female role models
Piper McLean is a daughter of Aphrodite born to famous actor Tristan McLean. Her father is Cherokee which is a form of Native American.
When you look at Piper’s upbringing it’s pretty easy to understand why Piper turns to her “not like other girls” attitude as a form of self defense/coping mechanism.
Piper grew up not having a mom, and we have no mention of any other female relatives such as a aunt or cousin. The only woman in Piper’s life we know of is her dad’s assistant Jane who is only around Piper for the sake of her job and who Piper has a civil at best relationship with.
Aside from that, the other other major female figures pre-the lost hero that we know of is the girls at her school who were racist bullies towards her.
Additionally, Piper’s father Tristan, as mentioned earlier is a famous movie star most known for the “King of Sparta” franchise. Piper is a young girl of color, who because her father’s fame, is experiencing puberty in the public Hollywood eye. Hollywood doesn’t exactly have a history of being appropriate towards its young stars. (Cough the countdown to the Olsen twins’ 18th birthday Cough)
Because of this Piper grew to associate femininity with the few less then stellar female models in her life and that only worsened with the media’s perception of her so she turned to the “not-like-other-girls” attitude both to convince herself she’s not like the negative figures in her life and to get less unwanted media attention.
This was somewhat worsened due to the fact that Piper is in general pretty isolated. Her father, being again Piper’s only major role model, is always busy and she turned to theft to gain his attention. Because of this isolation Piper grew used to processing her emotions on her own.
This ties to point number 2
2. Piper did not go to Jason’s funeral
While I understand people finding Piper’s “not-like-other-girls” syndrome annoying, even while understanding its origins, a find this point utterly stupid.
For some background: Jason Grace is the son of Jupiter, who was dropped in a bus belonging to Piper’s school by Juno who then proceeded to wipe all of Jason’s memories and give Piper and her friend Leo 2 months worth of fake memories surrounding a friendship in Leo’s case and a relationship in Piper’s with Jason that never existed in the first place.
Jason and Piper quickly grew many real memories in their relationship, spending close to a year together. However at some point during Trials of Apollo Piper realized she didn’t actually have any romantic feelings for Jason and while she did love him, she didn’t want to date him.
As far as I’m aware Jason took this like a champ as I have no recollection of any resentment Jason had towards Piper for this. He wanted a future with a family (spouse and children) but as much as he was upset about it not being with Piper, he doesn’t resent her. Piper seems to hate herself more for this then Jason does.
It’s important to note that while Piper probably never held any romantic feelings toward Jason, he was still incredibly important to her as one of her best friends and the two were still really close. So it must’ve absolutely broke Piper when on a quest with Apollo/Lester, Piper witnessed Jason be stabbed in the chest with a spear.
Obviously that is not something you’d want to witness even if it isn’t your best friend/ex-boyfriend. The part about this all that is significant is that Piper, after returning to Camp half blood, chose to lock herself away and did not go to Jason’s funeral.
Now as part of the reason why I consider this point utterly stupid, I would like to remind you that Piper is a 16-18 year old war veteran who most likely has PTSD as well as being raised, as mentioned before, isolated, and having gotten used to dealing with her emotions on her own. We cannot expect her to be as emotionally stable and intelligent as an adult. Because she isn’t. She’s a teenager. Whose been through way to much for someone her age.
Piper’s choice to not go to Jason’s funeral was entirely reasonable and valid with all of this in mind. She witnessed one of the worst events she ever will and decided the best way for her to process it is to have some alone time. Which, in my opinion, was an emotionally mature choice to make. Piper was in a lot of pain and witnessing Jason’s body, his shroud being burned, and his other loved ones crying over him was something she simply couldn’t bring herself to do as it would only cause more pain for her.
TLDR: Piper McLean is not a bad person. She is an isolated young girl whose been through a lot and as a result has turned to a not-like-other-girls attitude and a familiarity with processing her emotions on her own.

thanks its the trauma: aka leave mike wheeler alone you jerks
stranger things is actually a great long term examination of these kids responding to trauma in different ways.  everything about the ways these characters shift and change can be explained by trauma.
steve and nancy get into relationship trouble because their trauma coping mechanisms clash.  nancy wants to fight people and the government and the whole world and steve wants everything to just be okay and normal again, and that’s not really compatible.
jonathan’s coping mechanism for the first three seasons is to sort of circle the wagons, but also solve the problem of whatever’s hurting his people—which isn’t exactly the same as nancy’s, but definitely meshes more.  for season four, after moving across the whole damn country away from the support structures he’s had his whole life up to this point, his coping mechanisms shift to include smoking huge amounts of weed so he can feel normal again.
steve doesn’t want to deal with it until he has to Deal With It, and then once it’s over he’s done and it goes back in the little box.  But with the trauma coping mechanisms he’s also got a ton of protective instincts, so when the shit hits the fan he can actually stop ignoring it.
Mike’s coping mechanism for seasons one and two was to get blindingly angry, very similarly to nancy’s actually, which is interesting.  He’s pissed off and mean to everyone, especially when his people are in danger or he doesn’t have all of them right in front of him.  We see hints of this in season three, too, when he lashes out at Will.
But I feel like he’s had a shift similar to Jonathan’s for season four, where his response to the starcourt trauma battle extraordinaire and his best friend/girlfriend moving across the country was to shut down.  He’s done feeling angry because it got him into so much shit with other people in seasons 1-3, which is another kind of defense mechanism.  I’m gonna need people to stop hating on my boy for this pretty soon, thanks, like the answer to “why are they acting this way” is ALWAYS “the trauma!!!”  Let him try out repression for a while to see if it fits (spoilers: it doesn’t).
Tbh I would love to see him fucking explode in season 4 volume 2, like the pressure just builds until he can’t take it anymore.  Angry Mike Rights 2k22.
Joyce has major anxiety all the time, that’s pretty obvious.
Hopper is also big on the anger, and the repression, but he does both at the same time instead of alternating like Mike does.  And he’s been pretty consistent throughout all four seasons, I’m so sorry they took you out at the knees just as you were starting to heal king that’s so unfair.
Will just sort of shuts down, he internalizes and hides away and won’t emote negatively unless he’s alone, but being around his mom and his brother gives him a ferocious support system that a lot of the others just don’t have so he’s doing a little better with it all.  Which is....wild, given the givens.
I think El only started processing how traumatizing her whole life has been in like post-season 3.  She started getting out into the real world enough that it finally clicked for real in her subconscious that it’s okay to freak the hell out about the way she’s been treated up till then.  Aaaaaand of course immediately they move far away from most of her support system outside Hopper.  So, ironically, she develops lying and pretending everything is okay as a coping mechanism.  Friends don’t lie, except when the foundations of their world are shifting beneath their feet and they can live a fantasy life through letters to their loved ones to make it all better.
Max also gets angry and self-isolates, which is spelled out pretty explicitly as a trauma response in season 4.
Lucas is trying SO HARD he’s SUCH A GOOD KID he’s doing the work he’s self aware that his life has been crazy and he’s trying different things to see if it makes it better.  They should have gone to his damn basketball game.
Dustin is weirdly well-adjusted to be honest.  I think he leans on his friends a lot, or tries to and gets mad when they aren’t there for him.  He’s very much in the vein of Jonathan’s “solve the problem that’s hurting my friends” response, and he’s good at it, too.  His mom must be pretty incredible to have raised a kid like this.
anyway.  quit being mean to these small children because their regularly scheduled traumatizing nightmares make them act funny. they’re all good kids leave them alone!!!!

🔥🔥🔥 canon dreamtale 🔥🔥🔥
I see you've chosen violence 👁👁
DISCLAIMER: I am very glad that canon Dreamtale was created, it has become a major and irreversable piece of our (my system's) life and online experience and self-discovery. I am not bashing it for bad English, because I am aware that English is difficult and the creator of Dreamtale is a native Spanish speaker. None of this is about her art skill or her skill in English.
Okay now that that's over I just gotta start with the obvious favoritism. Seriously, Dream is treated like the only good and light in the story and infantalized and painted to be "pure". It's.... Frankly innaccurate to what he suffered through. Nightmare wasn't the only one traumatized there, and while everyone handles trauma differently, being traumatized is the exact opposite of being kept innocent.
And Nightmare!!! What the fuck!!! Way to demonize a victim of childhood trauma I guess???? Does she want a gold star???? For someone who "can only feel negativity" I sure haven't seen him processing that trauma in any way. Last I remember, pain and fear and despondence are also negative emotions. Aaaand what do we get? Oh yes, a man who is purely evil and wants to hurt people and nothing else. Because, y'know, ✨negative apples✨ and all.
The designs. Personally I like Dream's new design! Is it hard to draw? A little. Is it fun? Yeah! Nightmare......... Why did she make him look like a generic Sans with a crown. Please. Please fuck I'm begging if you're going to make him an evil king at least give him a dark version of his old outfit. Why in the multiverse would he decide to look like every basic Sans design ever........ He already had a good design that could have translated over........
The story! Hm. There are uh. A lot of plot holes. I've explained Dreamtale Canon to people before so, so many times, and every time they have so many questions I cannot answer. How did Nightmare turn Dream to stone? How did Dream escape? Those are my two biggest unanswered questions as far as that goes but like..... Pls. Maybe we'll get answers in the upcoming revamp (? I think I've heard about it. I think so. Not sure. I've given up hope about it being better though)

And maybe both the guys and mc learns to overcome their sad past together and eventual fall in love or something
Puppet Master
Synopsis: As a rare and powerful blood bender, fem!MC had gotten used to people fearing her. But these gods were different and a dangerous trip to the Under Realm proved how much they really cared for her.
✨Masterlist✨
Female goldfish!
A/N: Who told you I love sad shit? Did you just make that assumption? Well, you're right and I'll gladly make them fall in love! Heh After I make our beloved MC use them as puppets. I love little dark puppet masters.
--Word Count: 3060--
What did I feel? I felt fear. My heart raced uncomfortably, but no one could read the fear in my heart. I never let it show on my face, it was always something that could be used against me. Any hint of emotion could evoke negative reactions from those around me. I was one of the only blood benders in existence so it made sense that people were aware of that. I never asked for such a power, but it was in my hands and I could use it as I saw fit. I only used my powers a handful of times, and it was only in self-defense. But apparently protecting myself isn’t an adequate reason to use someone’s body as a puppet.
A majority of people I’d met in my life were afraid of me. Believe it or not, before I met this group of men, everyone was afraid of me- that included my family. It didn’t take much for me to make a puppet out of someone’s body. It was so simple and I could do it at any unsuspecting moment.
These men, however, weren’t afraid of me. They recruited me, took me to their mansion, and explained everything about themselves to me. It wasn’t much of a job, but it gave me a safe place to stay. They called themselves gods, which was pretty believable after they displayed their powers. But after that, it was like I was suddenly sucked into their world. Twelve zodiac gods who all seemed to actually tolerate me. There were even the ones who decided to accept me to protect me from the Dark King who wanted to use my soul to resurrect himself.
Evidently, I caused trouble no matter if I was with humans or gods. No wonder they both wanted to get rid of me. It left a pretty hollow feeling in my chest knowing that I was only a problem to be solved. But I was lucky they were ignorant. Even the mean Scorpio seemed to show me some sort of sympathy.
“Hey, (Name)...” Dui awkwardly stood in the doorway as he tried to tell me what was on his mind. His eyes observed my movements as I stood in their kitchen making myself a meal. “It's just that, well, I noticed you cook for yourself all the time and you shared your meatballs with Leon once. I was wondering, have you ever made a cherry pie before?”
I hummed, placing my fork down as I placed a lid over the cooked pot of meatballs. Quietly, I responded, “I know how to make a pie.”
A smile erupted across his face. “Can you make a cherry pie? I'll help.”
I shrugged my shoulders, but I didn't say no. “Sure.” I was already scavenging through their kitchen digging for what I would need as I answered him. I tilted my head as I found some apples, but I placed them on the table since I wasn't looking for them. But while I was gathering the ingredients for the pie I thought about Scorpio’s secret love for apples.
Honestly, making food was the least I could do for people protecting me and keeping me safe from the people wanting to kill me.
“What can I do?” Dui was eagerly leaning over my shoulder, watching the process of making the pie.
I thought silently for a moment. I usually did things on my own and rejecting people never usually affected me, but for some reason I found myself getting emotionally attached to these gods.
I sighed in frustration. I wasn't supposed to get attached to things. I handed Dui the jar of cherry sauce. “You can put these in once I fix the crust. Then I'll let you finish it.”
Dui sat contentedly across from me as he grabbed a spoon for the sauce. “You know, you're really nice.” I worked silently as he opened the jar, taking a spoonful of the cherries to start eating. “But you don't seem happy. Are you upset living with us?”
I paused, my hands no longer fixing the crust along the pan as I thought about his question. “Actually, I really enjoy living here. You're all really nice too.” No one was ever so nice to me… Not without being twice as afraid.
“Did I just hear (Name) say we were nice? As in Leon and Scorpio being nice?” Ichthys poked his head through the door before joining us at the island counter. “You goldfish have funny taste. What are you guys doing?”
With Ichthys’ interruption, I instantly got back to work to give Dui what he needed to finish the pie. Dui looked over to Ichthys and displayed his precious cherries. “(Name)’s making a cherry pie and I'm helping her.”
I looked up at Dui with the pan ready in my hands. “Sure, but did you eat all of the cherries that were supposed to go in the pie?”
“N- No! There's enough.” He stuttered to answer me, quickly holding out the jar to show that there were still enough cherries inside.
“Wow,” Ichthys laughed at the reaction I got out of Dui. “You scared Dui!”
“Sorry,” I apologized quietly, placing the pan in front of Dui so he could start putting the filling.
“Hey, don't worry about it.” He nudged me with a smile. “Why don't you try smiling a bit? I bet you'd look really pretty with a smile.” I offered him a dull gaze and he immediately averted his attention. Awkwardly, he began fidgeting with the kitchen utensils I was using. “So… Hey! What's this?”
It was instinctive. The minute Ichthys was reaching for the pot that was on the stove, I reached out my own hands in a desperate attempt to save him from getting burned. He was a god, but past experiences with them have taught me that they could still get hurt just like a human. “That's hot.” As if pulling on invisible strings, I pulled him away from the pot.
Ichthys’ eyes were wide as he felt the lingering effects of my powers. His body tingled from the feeling of having his blood under my control. “That feels funny… (Name), did you- Hey!”
Dui stood from the counter to join Ichthys. He watched the door that I ran out of in confusion. “What happened? Why'd she run out?”
“I think she has powers…” Ichthys explained though his head was tilted as he didn't entirely understand what just happened himself. He just knew that at that moment he felt like a puppet under my control.
I knew what I did was wrong and the guilt ate at me as I fled from them. I never had to use my powers on them before, I doubt they even knew I had powers. At least until now.
I took deep breaths as I made my way outside to the garden. I liked plants. I liked rocks. I liked things that didn't have blood flowing through them. They weren't things that I could control and I longed to surround myself with life that wouldn't fear me. The usual fear in my heart always seemed to fade when I wasn't around other people.
“Isn't that sad, Crow? The poor Goddess of Fate can't even feel safe with these gods.” I cocked my head to the side, finding two familiar figures standing among the trees. Servillah was the one who was talking about me as if I weren't there. But they didn't seem like they were going to approach me. “There's something we could do for her, isn't there?”
“Of course,” Crow responded with an equally pleased look before he addressed me more personally, “You wouldn't have to face this scrutiny if you came with us. We don't care about what powers you have. Our dark powers are much more frightening than yours.”
My eyes scanned them but my face didn't betray how I was feeling. My heart was racing in uncertainty. I had no idea what they were there for. “I can't tell if you're trying to send me a message or if you're trying to challenge my powers.”
Crow glanced back at Servillah but the blond could only offer him a shrug. They couldn't get a good reading on me with my dull eyes and expressionless lips. Servillah then tried again, “We’re saying you're like us. Right? Everyone around you wants you gone. That's why you ran away, isn't it?” I faltered at how true his words rang and he seemed to take notice of my slight movement. “That's it.”
Crow grinned, extending his hand. “We might be demons, but we could offer you something no one else could. We'll take your tortured soul so you won't have to burden this world anymore with your presence.”
I clenched my teeth together. They wanted to use my soul to resurrect their king, I knew that much. But then… I wouldn't have this cursed power. I wouldn't have to see any more expressions like the one Ichthys made before I left. It wasn't like I wanted to face them again after that incident anyway. This did seem like the most merciful way to go out. I couldn't be a burden if my soul didn't exist.
Knowing they had me in their grasp, Servillah added, “Your gods will come soon. Will you join us?”
My gods…? I wish they could be. But I supposed that I was ready to go while I had all of those good memories in my head.
“(Name)!” I turned my head slightly, my eyes widening as arms wrapped around me and I was pulled back into someone's chest. “You two might want to rethink crossing our divine barrier.” I glanced up, finding Huedhaut holding onto me as he glared at the two demons. Teorus and Aigonorus were also there but it was obvious that other gods would soon be joining us.
Servillah huffed with a triumphant smirk as if he just outsmarted the gods. “We weren't about to cross the barrier and alert you of our presence. But your goddess was just about to, weren't you? Aren't you tired of this?”
I looked over the worried faces of the gods. Their questions passed me by without notice and I shut my eyes to block them out. I didn't want to hear them try and make up excuses for me to stay around. Those demons understood the root of my feelings. I was tired of being a burden. I was exhausted.
The area suddenly fell silent and no one moved a muscle. All it took was a simple gesture from me and the gods were frozen. “I’m ready.”
Crow and Servillah watched in awe at what my powers could do. They would be unstoppable with me on their side. These gods couldn’t so much as let out one word, let alone snap their fingers for anything. Crow extended his hand toward me. “Let’s go. We’ll show you to our home now.” I glanced once more at the silent gods who were pleading with their eyes, but my eyes didn’t linger on them for long. I didn’t want to find an excuse to stay and prolong this. So, I didn’t hesitate much in abandoning the gods and taking Crow’s hand. The two dark gods were successful as they led me to the Under Realm.
Getting to the Under Realm was a big surprise. The Dark King was, in fact, there. But… he had a transparent look about him. As though he were a ghost. But they treated me fairly well for ‘evil’ beings. They sat me down and explained what was going to happen to transfer my soul. I wasn’t afraid of the process if I was being honest. I was content with everything that was about to happen.
“All you need to do is drink this and we’ll handle the rest,” Crow finished explaining as Servillah placed a cup of black liquid in front of me. “You won’t know a thing that’s going on.”
It sounded promising. I would be blissfully unaware of anything they would do with my soul after they took it. Only, before I could bring the cup to my lips-
“Stop!” There was more than one shout and it was obvious that the gods were about to clash with the Dark Gods.
Instantly, I stood to my feet, raising my hands to bring everyone to a sudden halt. My fingers were spread in the fashion a puppeteer might use to hold up their puppets on strings. Staring at the intruding gods, I questioned, “Why did you come here?”
“We came to tell you the truth,” Huedhaut answered first as soon as I gave them the ability to speak. He did probably feel the most guilt since he was the one who let them take me away. “We didn’t understand how you felt until you exposed your powers and willingly left with the Dark Gods. But we never wanted you to leave.”
Scorpio added as soon as Huedhaut was finished, “I knew how you’ve been feeling since we first met and I guess this crap is my fault since I never asked you about it. I always thought you were afraid of us for bein’ gods. So, listen, brat. Let us take care of things here and come back with us.”
Ichthys shook his head at Scorpio and Huedhaut. “They’re not getting to the point! I’m sorry for how we reacted in the kitchen. I was just really surprised when you jumped out to save me with cool powers like that. But we came here to save you because we love you and we don’t want those bad guys to take your soul.”
My eyes were wide at how honest they were all being. Their eyes were truthful and they all seemed to silently agree with Ichthys’ proclamation of love. I heard the words a thousand times said to other people, but no one had ever said such a thing to me and mean it. It was also the first time anyone had described my powers as ‘cool’. I would have instantly labeled them as liars claiming such nonsense things just to keep the dark king from having me. But there was no way they could be making up such outrageous lies when I was using my powers on them as they said it. They didn’t even look slightly uncomfortable to be under my complete control.
My thoughts were interrupted when Dui chipped in, “You might think we’re lying to save ourselves right now, but we’re not. We all really care about you. The only one afraid of your powers is you… Just like I was the only one really afraid of Shadow Dui. I mean, even you, a human, didn’t have a problem with him.”
I nodded my head slowly, already connecting those dots in my head. “I know. I can make you do whatever I want right now. I could rake you across the Under Realm. I could make you stand there and let them kill you one by one. I could do anything to you and you all know it. But…” I paused, glancing down at my still hands. “You’re not afraid of me. You came here knowing what I could do to you… Just to take me home.”
Partheno commented with a tilted head, “Well, you better think twice about staying here because we’re not going home without you.”
“Then…” I started slowly, lowering one of my hands from in front of me to release the gods. “Let’s go home… together.”
Zyglavis cleared his throat, gesturing to the men behind me. “As much as I would love to fulfill that request, we have one thing which must be attended to first. We’ll handle this quickly if you don’t mind keeping things as they are for the moment.”
I didn’t mind that they had work to finish and they needed my help. I was just… happy… for once. Not only did they need me, but they wanted me around. I wasn’t sure how many times they brought me to their mansion, but this time it felt special. I felt like I was in a place I belonged.
“Hey,” Leon drew my attention to him where we sat in the living room. His serious expression prepared me for an equally serious conversation. “I know you were having trouble with those powers of yours. Let me know if you’re too uncomfortable with them. Now that we know how they work we can help you control them.” Before I could reply, he continued to cut me off, “I know you know how to use them. But we could make it to where you can’t be our puppet master. We want to make sure you’re comfortable.”
His offer was thoughtful and touched on the problems I’ve had with my powers until now. But, I just had to decline him. “Thank you… But if any of you are as impulsive as Ichthys then I think I will need to make you my puppets every now and then. Especially when I’m in the kitchen. You know, if you don’t mind.”
Dui shook his head, enjoying hearing my voice more now that I was comfortable with them. “We don’t mind you being protective of us. But since you’re back, can we go bake the pie now?”
I hummed quietly, a smile crossing my usually stoic lips. “Sure.”
Ichthys’ eyes widened. “She smiled.”
Partheno nodded in agreement, smirking. “Radiant.”
I shrugged off their comments, escaping to the kitchen with an embarrassed huff. “Let’s go finish that pie.”

(MCU) Loki Laufeyson/Odinson Character History and Analysis
(WARNING: Contains spoilers from Thor, The Avengers, Thor: The Dark World, Thor: Ragnarok, and The Avengers: Infinity War. Additionally, this is SUPER LONG.
Word Count: 3,795
Some people may view Loki as simply a black and white character in terms of morality. Some may say he's "selfish" or "power hungry" or "evil" or even "uncaring". Some directors may even falsely attribute ideas of being "a spoiled rich kid" or "over dramatic" or having been "trying to kill his brother his whole life" to Loki. But these couldn't be further from the truth. Throughout the Thor franchise (much more diluted in the 3rd Thor thanks to the bias and lack of care or sensitivity from one particular director) and within his appearances in the Avengers films, we see Loki display a wide range of emotion and multi-layered complexity. He struggles with depression, PTSD, extreme fear of failure, being an outcast, and utter brokenness of one's self. Loki is a multifaceted character who has had an immense growth over his years on the screen and allusions to experiences in the past. Loki is not just an "evil", "two-dimensional", "boring", "selfish", "Draco Malfoy-esque" (no offense Draco, I love you too, but this ain't about you), character. He is so much more.
He’s a broken and desperate man who only wanted recognition from his father. This drove him to sabotaging Thor’s coronation to give him more time to prove himself. But when he found out his true parentage, he was broken. Suddenly, in his mind, everything made sense as to why Odin favored Thor over him; not only was he not truly the son of Odin, but he was a “monster”.
Suddenly, the stakes are raised as he feels like he know has to try even harder than before. He goes from making calm and calculated decisions to some desperate and reckless decisions. Thor is out of the way, so he believes he already has a slight advantage. Unfortunately, Thor starts to cause a ruckus on earth. Loki is panicking. He sends the destroyer after him, to destroy him; something he has never done before. He has never gone this far before. He’s not himself anymore; the cumulation of years and years of being in his shadow, untrusted, not knowing why he can’t be equal with his brother (why caused him to do pranks and other mischievous things as, in his eyes, negative attention was better than no attention), all of this building up until it finally overflowed with the events of the first Thor movie finally putting him over the edge. And even then, when Thor is right there to quickly kill with a beam from the destroyer, Loki goes for the backhand. It could still kill him, yes, but emphasis on ‘could’. He is still angry and wanting Thor out of his way, but he can’t bring himself to just so easily get rid of him. Especially not after Thor’s speech to him.
When Thor manages to defeat the destroyer, Loki is thrust into his plan even quicker than before. Trick the frost giants, the Jötunns, the biggest enemy of Asgard at the time, into coming into the palace under the guise of being led to kill Odin. Of course it was never Loki’s intention to have them kill Odin. Even when Odin’s death could solidify his position on the throne; it Odin was killed, no one would be in Loki’s way to claim the throne forever, but the truth is, he didn’t want the throne. He only wanted to be Thor’s equal. So, within the presence of the All-Father in his All-Sleep, Loki killed Laufey. This not only proves that Loki could do what Thor could not, but it also is Loki’s way of showing Odin that he is nothing like the other Jötunns. Unfortunately for Loki’s plan, Thor manages to arrive just in time. Loki’s life is constantly breaking before him; now in front of his own mother, Frigga, the only one who Loki felt truly loved him and held him in the same standing as Thor, saw his plan fall apart.
Loki’s suddenly finding himself desperately fighting with Thor. Something not too new to him, he’s fought him and fought alongside him throughout their childhood and time growing up, but it’s never been like this. Loki needs to prove himself. He can’t let anything stop him no matter what. If he destroys Jötunnheim, Odin will finally accept him, right? But Thor is refusing to truly fight Loki. He doesn’t want to fight his brother. He wants things to go back to normal aside from Thor’s newfound perspective on life. Loki knows this about Thor and know that the only way to bring back the reckless Thor from before is to bring up the woman whom he sees as responsible for his brother going soft. Getting under Thor’s skin, their fight ensues. In the end, Loki gets pinned down by Mjølnir but sees he’s plan to destroy Jötunnheim unfolding. There’s nothing that can stop it.
But then... Thor does the unthinkable. He starts destroying the bifrost. Loki is shocked and immensely confused. Why would his brother be doing this? Why is he trying so hard to stop him and save Jötunnheim, even at the expense of never seeing Jane Foster again? Thor manages to succeed in destroying the bifrost, saving Jötunnheim from destruction. The brothers find themselves in a precarious situation as Loki is clinging onto All-Father’s spear, held by Thor, trying desperately not to fall into the collapsing bifrost. When it seems all is lost, none other than Odin shows up to save them. In a final, desperate act to prove himself to Odin, he proclaims “I could have done it, Father! I could have done it! For you! For all of us!” But what response does he get from Odin? Simply “No, Loki.” Suddenly, Loki feels empty. Defeated. Pointless. He lets go. He falls into the collapsing bifrost expecting and accepting his certain fate of demise. But that wasn’t the last he’s heard of.
To Loki’s unfortunate luck, he falls into the grasp of the Mad Titan, Thanos. Promised power and a planet to rule, Loki is equipped with the scepter containing the mind stone. Not much is known about what exactly occurs during Loki’s time with Thanos, but needless to say, it leaves him gaunt, weakened, exhausted, and appearing to have been burned. Loki is instructed to locate and obtain the Tesseract on earth and return it to Thanos. The Other reminds Loki of the consequences should he fail, “If you fail, if the Tesseract is kept from us, there will be no realm, no barren moon, no crevice where he can not find you. You think you know pain? He will make you long for something as sweet as pain.” Loki arrives on earth. More desperate than he’s ever been in his entire life. Furthermore, warped and twisted in the head. This scepter grants him dominion over the minds of others, just through slight contact on the chest.
Unbeknownst to Loki, the effects of the scepter are not limited to touch. It’s affecting him too. Amplifying Loki’s own desires to rise up and prove himself capable of ruling, capable of what his brother is supposed to be entrusted to do. This, combined with the threats and looming consequences that weigh on his mind drive him beyond himself. He’s no longer Loki Odinson. He’s Loki, and he his burdened with glorious purpose.
As the events of The Avengers (2012) unfold, we see glimpses into Loki’s mindset. We see him determined and twist looking. He’s enjoying it. He’s enjoying the attention and the recognition. He is feared. He is a force to be reckoned with. Everything is going to plan. There’s a group trying to come after him? Well that’s no biggie, he knows of the beast inside of Bruce banner. He’s confident he can take them down. Captured in Stuttgart, everything seems to be fixed in the eyes of the Avengers, but Loki knows otherwise. Of course his brother Thor has to pop by and pull him from the situation. We see Thor desperately pleading with Loki to come back home. But Asgard isn’t Loki’s home; not anymore. Thor manages to get under Loki’s skin a bit when he mentions that someone else must be controlling him. “Who showed you this power? Who controls the would-be-king?” Even Thor knows that this is beyond his brother, beyond what he would ever do in a normal headspace. What Thor saw of Loki in the first Thor shocked him as well. This is not the Loki he knows. When things seem to be escalating and Thor appears to be ready to start a lecture, Thor is sent flying form a tackle from Iron Man. Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America have a brief fight in the woods below Loki, all the while Loki waits. He waits; he doesn’t try to run, he’s waiting because he needs to follow through with his plan.
When the three avengers stop their fighting and come to a resolve, Loki finds himself being brought on board a massive helicarrier and locked into a secure cell. All according to plan. What he’s not aware of is the scepter having effects on the avengers while their conversation devolves into arguing; they too are affected by the scepter’s proximity based effects. Soon enough, he is visited by one Natasha Romanoff, surprisingly to him as she manages to approach without his knowing. But he knows all about her thanks to Clint Barton. He knows how to attack her weak points, he knows her past and her dark secrets. He’s reveling in the power he feels even within a cell. But when he thinks he’s fully gotten to her, she pauses. She knows his plan to use the Hulk... but how? Now he’s confused but also intrigued. He’s not too worried though as things are still going to plan. The Hulk is unleashed and Hawkeye follows through with the plan. Loki is able to send his brother Thor down from the sky after tricking him into the cell. This Loki does so without hesitation; he laughs at the prospect of his brother’s potential demise. This is not the Loki we knew. Loki makes his escape, losing Hawkeye in the process, and gets to Stark Tower to initiate the final phase of his plan.
Fast forward and the portal is opening. Of course, Thor stops by and crashes his moment. But not the way you might expect. Despite what Loki has done, Thor still approaches him with compassion and love and the desire for him to return home with him. He wants Loki to see what he’s done, he still has hope that this isn’t truly Loki or his desires.
Thor angrily chastises Loki, “Look at this! Look around you! You think this madness will end with your rule?”
Loki looks around, fear and shock within his eyes as if he can’t believe what he’s doing. He simply responds, “It’s too late. It’s too late to stop it.”
Thor hopes this is his chance to bring Loki back. “No. We can, together.”
For a moment, it seems like Loki might come back, but he doesn’t. Any hope for himself he has in his eyes is squandered. He really believes he’s “come to far for anything else.” He’s still twisted from the scepter. His thoughts are only of his twisted desire for power and the overwhelming, looming threats of what would come if he fails. He stabs Thor, but not anywhere that could be fatal. He states one thing with an uncertain and wicked smile “sentiment.” He doesn’t stick around to try and kill him either. When Thor gets back up and tries to fight, Loki simply rolls off the edge of Stark tower to be caught by one of the Chituari vehicles. He’s got his eyes elsewhere, he’s not going to waste his time on Thor. He can’t risk the chance of Thor snapping him out of his plans.
Fast forward more, and he is eventually defeated. The raw, physical might of the Hulk is too much even for him. He’s failed. He’s been defeated. He could not deliver on his order from Thanos. Chained and muted by a muffle, Loki follows Thor to be brought back to Asgard for judgement. Something he can only assume to be his death.
Arriving in Asgard, Loki is marched to the All-Father’s throne. His mother Frigga watches from the side. Loki, pretty much numb at this point takes things less than seriously. He is lacking some sanity from before but not so much where he can’t comprehend what’s happening. Just so much to the point that he doesn’t care what happens, or so he thinks. Frigga begs Loki to not make things worse to which Loki retorts “Define worse.” Loki feels like he doesn’t really care since he expects death. He even asks Odin if that is what he will be sentenced to; Loki does so without seeming scared or sad but rather uncaring at his fate.
Odin states, “All this because Loki desires a throne.”
Loki defends himself, calling back to what Odin told him and Thor back when they were children. “It is my birthright!”
And Odin, showing his true colors and a fit of rage responds, “Your birthright was to die as a child! Cast out on a frozen rock. If I had not taken you in, you would not be here now to hate me.”
Loki is understandably taken aback by this. “If I am for the axe, then, for mercy's sake, just... swing it!”
But when Odin replies with what Loki truly will be sentenced to, Loki’s face changes. Not death, but eternal imprisonment. Eternal imprisonment away from everyone and Loki’s mother who he loves, Frigga. Loki is taken aback. He was content with dying. If he was dead, he would neither have to fear Thanos hunting him down nor feeling of emptiness and worthlessness. But instead of that sweet release, he is sentenced to living out the rest of his life, secluded from his mother but isolated with his own thoughts. This is a fate worse than death in his eyes, especially when you consider how long Asgardians live.
Over a year passes with Loki still in prison. A prison break occurs around him which piques his interest and mischievous nature. He clings to any idea that could provide him with a feeling of life outside of books. Seeing the apparent leader of the group, Loki informs him of the path to take that would lead him to Asgard’s shield generator. It’s uncertain what exactly Loki’s motives are for doing this, but it can be assumed it’s because of his desire to have any impact, to do something that will have an effect, to rile things up. He doesn’t know how truly dangerous these people are. He could easily think that they would be no match for the Asgardians and that he is simply causing a little trouble. Unbeknownst to Loki, these are powerful and dangerous Dark Elves... and his dear mother Frigga was in the path of the Kursed. Frigga dies protecting the location of Jane Foster.
After the matter, after the dark elves had been expelled, Loki, still in his cell, is approached by a guard. A guard; that’s who tells Loki of his mother’s death. No visit from Thor or Odin or even Sif and/or the Warriors Three... While Thor and Odin and the rest of Asgard gets to attend Frigga’s funeral and mourn her, Loki is left all alone in his cell to mourn alone. Distraught, broken again, angry at the Kursed and the Dark Elves, but especially angry with himself. Undoubtedly he feels guilt having been the one to, unintentionally, lead the Kursed directly to Frigga. Loki destroys his cell. He is shattered. The one person he felt true love from. Loki is utterly empty. The last thing he had left is gone, and he didn’t even get to say goodbye. Overwhelmed, he uses his magic to lash out, destroying the entire room. In an absolute rage, he rampaged throughout his little cell, not caring much in the process, even stepping on broken glass and cutting himself. Eventually, he collapsed onto the floor, exhausted, disheveled, and utterly broken.
When Thor comes for Loki’s aide, he finds Loki looking his usual self. Loki inquires if Thor is there to gloat, to which Thor, knowing his brother, tells Loki “no more illusions.” Loki drops the illusion, revealing the trashed state of his cell and himself. “Now you see me brother.” Loki asks if Frigga suffered, but Thor isn’t there to comfort Loki or share their grief. He instead implores Loki to assist him in going against Odin’s wishes to go to the dark world and stop Malekith. Of course this prompts Loki to ask Thor what makes him think he can trust him, to which Thor replies, “I don't. Mother did. You should know that when we fought each other in the past, I did so with a glimmer of hope that my brother was still in there somewhere. That hope no longer exists to protect you. You betray me, and I will kill you.” Thor is desperate. He’s angry. He’s scared. He’s lost his mom, Jane is in danger, and as far as he’s aware or concerned, he’s lost Loki to the darkness. But he can’t let that stop him now. He needs Loki. He needs someone who has tricks and knowledge of Asgard to help him escape.
Loki ventures with Thor to the dark world, showing him the way (with brotherly banter in between). Loki muses Thors attachment to Jane, a mere mortal. Loki can’t understand why a powerful godlike being such as Thor could grow enamored with someone who will die long before he will. “This day, the next, a hundred years, it's nothing! It's a heartbeat. You'll never be ready. The only woman whose love you prized will be snatched from you.”
Thor is of course angry with this response as (at least at the time... thanks Taika...) he loves Jane, “And will that satisfy you?”
Loki only has to say, “Satisfaction's not in my nature!” This line alone gives us so much insight to Loki, much more than it may seem from surface value. Loki isn’t doing this for self satisfaction. He’s never satisfied, because he’s never been allowed to be. Until he can be equal with Thor, he doesn’t care. Loki appears selfish here, he embodies a persona of self confidence and defiance; as someone who only cares for himself. But this is far from the truth.
We see Loki appear to betray Thor as he cuts off his hand and stabs him before kicking him and sending him down a hill. He then roughly grabs Jane and throws her to the ground in front of Malekith. To the surprise of the audience and Jane, this was all part of Loki and Thor’s plan. Having Malekith off guard, Loki allows Thor to attack. Loki, against what appeared to be his nature a bit ago based on what he said, he immediately rushes to Jane to protect her. Twice. Once to cover her, the second to push her out of the way of one of the Kursed’s attacks that would have killed him if Thor hadn’t managed to get him out of the way last minute. The fight continues and Thor is beaten down and about to be finished off before Loki jumps to his rescue, stabbing the attacking Kursed. Unfortunately for Loki, he was too confident in this attack and the Kursed had enough energy left in him to impale him onto the other end of the blade Loki used to stab him. Loki appears to be dying. He fully expected to. Loki genuinely apologizes to Thor for what he’s done, calling himself a fool.Thor mourns and cries out, promising Loki “I'll tell Father what you did here today.” Loki’s apparent final words are “I didn’t do it for him.” This could be interpreted as Loki doing it for Frigga, Thor, or even himself. This time, Loki didn’t do it for Odin’s approval or recognition. He’s fine dying here. He’s done his part. I personally believe he did it for a mixture of all three of them.
Thor believes Loki to be dead and leaves, heartbroken and mournful, losing his mom and then his brother. Loki, however, did not die. His wound, will appearing to be fatal, did not kill him. It was not enough for a being such as him. He recovers in time and makes his way back to Asgard. Having survived, he has a newfound resolve. He’s done doing things for Odin. He’s going to do something for himself. To prove to himself and the others. Using powerful magic, Loki banishes Odin, the All-Father, guardian of the nine realms, to earth. He clouds Odins memories and leaves him (either in a care home or as a homeless man depending on which you accept as canon in Ragnarök). Loki assumes Odin’s identity as king of Asgard, the All-Father. Eventually, Thor comes to him, believing him to be Odin. He hears Thor honor Loki, giving Loki the praise he always wanted to hear. Loki, as Odin, encourages Thor to keep mjølnir as it belongs to him, and to go on as he wishes as Thor does not desire the throne. Thor thanks Odin and leaves. Loki, returning to his true form, thanks the absent Thor.
Loki rules over Asgard for four years. He avoids any issues, no conflict with other realms, no damage or anything. He enjoys his time in the light, even if others believe him to be Odin.
Then one day, Thor returns. Ragnarok unfolds. Loki finds himself torn between helping Thor or not and keeping himself safe, but ultimately decides to join Thor and fighting to protect the people of Asgard, risking his own life in the process, nabbing the tesseract on his way (c’mon... what’d you expect?). Loki seems content with himself and Thor as king of Asgard. Loki no longer worries about meeting Odin’s expectations, he just needs to meet his own.
Unfortunately, good things don’t last forever. Thanos has finally found Loki. Loki can decide to join Thanos, granting him safety, or to stand by Thor and his people. He chooses the latter. He stands up for Thor. He accepts himself as a Jötunn, but also as an Odinson. He promises Thor, “I assure you, brother, the sun will shine on us again.” He makes a desperate attempt at Thanos, one that fails. Loki dies, choked out by Thanos. His final words, an insult to Thanos but also a self aware reflection for Loki himself, “You will never be a god.” Loki saves Thor’s life by giving his own. Loki died a hero.

So, a while ago, I re-watched a few Sanders Sides episodes, and some of them really made me think about the characters themselves and some ships. I, don’t know whether or not to count the Asides videos as a part of the true Sides episodes. I think they’re just cool, but important instances in Thomas’ life involving the Sides not truly canon to the Sides episodes. Sorry if I’m wrong.
I know I’m not the first one to give my opinion like this, how I feel on certain ships, so I’m sorry in advance if I’m basically saying things other people have already...
And I apologise if Prinxiety seems more... talked or thought about than others. This was at first just about Prinxiety, but then I started thinking on some other ships as well :)
Now I’ll be honest, before I ever fully got into the Sander Sides fandom and really knew who the characters were, I did sort of ship Prinxiety and Logicality, because those were the ships I saw the most when I started seeing Sanders Sides in my social feed. But I still was iffy about shipping them as I hardly knew anything about them.
However, when I started watching the videos once I found Thomas’ channel, I began questioning why Roman and Virgil(before I knew their names) were shipped.
Mainly because through the episodes that involved Roman and Virgil, whenever Virgil made an appearance, Roman always made his dislike of Virgil quite known. He never treated him nicely, gave him mean nicknames many times, and in general didn’t seem to want him there.
However, there was a nice moment between him and Virgil as cited in The Dark Side of Disney at 5:45 at the end card:
Roman: Okay, uh, how about Mulan? Virgil: There’s never a wrong time to dress in drag. Roman: Lion King! Virgil: There’s never a wrong time to dress in drag-- Both: --and do the hula! AAAAAAAAAAAAA
And this was BEFORE any character development between the two, so, there, maybe I could see them being frenemies or something like that.
Then there was the Accepting Anxiety videos. In the first video near the end, it was made painfully clear that Roman did not like Virgil as evident at 7:18, where Thomas pointed it out in flashbacks
That was redeemed in the second video, where at 7:11, Roman went through a character arc where he realised how important Virgil was to the group:
Roman: Anxiety, you’re... what pushes Thomas to rehearse and rehearse before performances. You are that nervousness that he feels right before going on stage, but just as he does so... you ease up. And... you let his excitement and passion for performance take over. I think that’s as good a sign as any that you’re willing to work as a team. And that you make us... better.
Which by then, I saw them as going from barely acquaintances to friends throughout videos as Roman tried to be more understanding and nice to Virgil.
In the most recent Asides video, it shows how much they care about each other- Roman sees that Virgil is nervous and tries using alternate, less direct ways to get the man’s attention at first. And when those don’t work, and Roman decides to give up, Virgil rushes out of his comfort zone to help Roman and give Thomas a chance.
But in the first Asides video, Roman says at 10:21:
Roman: Look, this is how I show my love.
After Logan points out he rigged the vote to watch Frozen, then made fun of it. I then saw people in the comments saying that Roman makes fun of Virgil, that means he could love him.
And I’m like... no... that, shouldn’t be how it’s perceived because that’s toxic. You wouldn’t want a friend that insults you around, much less be in a romantic relationship with you.
And it’s revealed in the Selfishness v. Selflessness Redux that Roman has low self confidence and needs someone to be there for him.
Sadly for me, that person isn’t Virgil. He tends to take insults directed at him lying down and even contributes to them. (’Less modest, more self-deprecating ... I talk bad about myself’; 9:47, Fitting In (Hogwarts Houses!))
I do not believe they would work together as a couple, especially with SvS Redux as the current video with so many issues unresolved and a lot of them feeling pretty down at the moment. But after working through their issues that they both have, sure, they could be a couple, but, I believe they could be closer friends more than anything.
Likewise, I don’t think Logicality would work, as both Logan and Patton have issues that need to be worked as well. I know this pairing is the second most popular in the fandom, but, from what I’ve seen, it just wouldn’t work.
Patton is controlling and a little forceful, even though he doesn’t mean to be. I saw this mainly in Learning New Things About Ourselves and Selfishness v. Selflessness. In LNTAO, Patton repeatedly tried to force Logan into doing something he didn’t want to do.
And in Selfishness v Selflessness, Patton was rather forceful and insistent that Thomas was a good person and could do no wrong. And yes, I am aware that in both cases, Patton was able to learn from these things and grow as a person.
But these instances show that Patton is very open and emotional. Whereas Logan is the opposite. He’s cold and can be distant, and only faintly expresses how he feels. The one that really stuck out to me was Logan saying how he wasn’t a joke, also in LNTAO.
With someone like that, you can’t pressure them to express themselves- that will only lead to hurting the person and maybe yourself as well in the process.
To me, this couple, if they got together, their relationship would have major bumps and problems. Logan has a hard time expressing and Patton has a hard time backing down- but if these issues were worked on, they’d be a nice couple I suppose.
I do however believe that Analogical and Royality would work.
For Analogical, this pairing works- it really does.
Not even speaking for Sanders Sides here for a minute, logic tends to calm anxiety down. I myself have used logic in midst of anxiety/panic attacks. It takes a while, but anxiety will listen to logic and ease up after a while.
Throughout the series, Logan and Virgil have never once really been rude to each other.
In fact, they rarely lash out at each other and help each other more than anything.
I’ve seen this mainly in My NEGATIVE Thinking, Fitting In (Hogwarts Houses!), the Moving On videos, and a bit of Dealing With INSTRUSIVE THOUGHTS.
In MNT, Logan in a sense made Virgil feel better about his ‘attempts’ at the debate. In FI(HH!), he agreed with Virgil’s concerns about standing out and seemed the most eager to help him. In the Moving On videos, he and Virgil were unspokenly working together, and Logan was the first to realise Virgil was having a panic attack and tried to help him. In DWIT, Logan helped Virgil understand that he was right and those dark thoughts didn’t have any true meaning to Thomas’ character.
There was also that bit in the Sanders Sides Q&A!, where Virgil said that Logan understanding reality comforted him. :)
I also did like The Sanders Sides 12 Days of Christmas! for Virgil gently explaining to Logan how insults work ^^
Logan is the rock that Virgil needs, and Virgil can give Logan a hand to know when he needs to take his time.
Their relationship would be a bit rocky at first, with both Logan and Virgil unable to really express the correct emotions. That being said, they are the two Sides able to best read the air and understand certain gestures. So when they open up, I think they’d be able to really understand each other :)
For Royality, in terms of how they treat each other, I really think this pairing would work. These two seem to be the Sides that show most emotion and seem to encourage each other a lot. And quite a few times, they wordlessly agree with each other.
I saw these things mainly in Am I ORIGINAL?, Growing Up, and Moving On Part 2.
In AIO, Patton was supportive of all Roman’s ideas and helped him feel better about not having an original idea all the time. In Growing Up, Roman and the others are reminded of Patton’s contributions to the group, and he has the biggest reaction in my opinion(’That is... Wow, I am ashamed of myself!’; 10:58, Growing Up) and both of them helped with the Mind Palace. And in Moving On, Part 2, Roman admitted that he might’ve been hurting Patton by holding onto the past. On a less sad note on the same video, I also liked that after Logan gave Patton his cat hoodie, Roman conjured puppies for him~
Of course, as it goes with all couples, they’d still have problems, as no one is perfect, but for me, they’d have the least problems.
I’m going to mention one more pairing: Remus/Janus. I, don’t know their ship name .-.
Truth be told, I don’t know how they’d totally function, since they haven’t truly interacted in front of us yet, but going by Dealing With INTRUSIVE THOUGHTS, and how they were portrayed there, I think they’d work.
Going by Remus’ song:
‘Speaking of honesty, recently a snake offered me a morsel from the tree of knowledge. He said, ‘You’re wanting to be more honest and be direct dealing with your issues? No longer will you deceive yourself about the ugliness within you.’ Neat!’, 7:54
This shows that Janus does care about Remus and wants him happy, and Remus appreciates the attention. Most likely because Janus is the only one who doesn’t view Remus as disgusting.
I think this ship could work, but have its ups and downs- mainly because picturing these two together, I’m just seeing a chaotic duo lol.
I’m going by all of the Sanders Sides videos in order, and as I said before, with SvS Redux as the current video, a few of these ships just would not work. But as the series progresses and the above issues are tackled, yes, these ships could work. Though I personally ship Analogical, Royality, and Remus/Janus.
I hope that I put an equal amount of thought into each ship after Prinxiety- I really tried to see every aspect of every possible relationship I listed and hope they’re all equally fair. I’m not by any means attacking any ship and I hope I don’t give off that impression- I was just listing my opinions on each based on how the series is currently.
Thanks for reading :)

KRS-One - “Ah Yeah!”  Critical Analysis by Hakeem Ture
Tumblr media
“If hip hop has the power to corrupt young minds, it also has the ability to uplift them.” - KRS-One
The musician is a natural master of vibration and emotion. Many musicians have been able to make us dance. Many have been able to draw on relatability because nobody is the only person like them in the world. Perhaps some have even made us cry or provided soundtracks for intimate moments. Only few musicians have taken on the task of socially and historically educating their listeners through their music.
Even fewer have been able to combine the mastery of teaching with mastery of rhythm. Those who do this become legends like; Nate King Cole, B.B. King, Nina Simone, Bob Marley, Chaka Khan and Fela Kuti’ and their influence lives throughout generations. In 1995 Krs-One released a self-titled album that came in the sunset of his reign. His career would mirror the sepia filter of the album cover.
This album had dominant auras of militancy and rebellion that Krs-One fans had not heard since Boogie Down Productions - Criminal Minded. Krs-One was able to both appease his day one fans and gain the younger generation of Hip Hoppers who were listening to artists such as: Nas, Redman,Das Efx, Tupac, and A Tribe Called Quest. The message and timing of this album may have been divine. Let us look at the historical events of the year(s) Krs-One was creating this album in. In 1994, the United States congress had successfully completed the first step of becoming fascist by Voting to Censure Dr. Khalid Muhammad, National Advisor of the Nation of Islam. Bill Clinton and Joe Biden led Democrats to pass the The Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act and effectively fueled the prison industrial complex. South Africa held it first election since intergrating with the apartheid government and Invisble Man author Ralph Ellison had passed. Hip Hop was the soul vehicle of expression to protest the genocide that had been going on and KRS One was one of its leaders. The youth looked toward this leader to deliver an album reflective of their mindstate and he delivered.
Imperative of a classic work of musical art, this album is composed of multiple great songs, but in my opinion the cornerstone song of the album is undeniably “Ah Yeah”. In this song he masterfully uses three 16 bar verses to empower and mobilize his listener much in the same way Dr. Khalid Muhammad did. This track starts with the establishment of an a capella warcry. He writes in response to western power’s having done such an incredible job destroying the rebel instinct that Afrikan people possess by publicly shaming our leaders and traditions. These lyrics are him trying to raise the psyche of a fallen warrior class and put revolt back in its holy place as opposed to the negative connotation that has been applied by the white power structure.  He essentially made a chant-like hook with an underlying message of “This is your enemy, This is how to handle him, and THIS is okay”. The aim focuses on  redirecting the accumulated anger of a traduced peoples that is often mistargeted toward self so that we may be collectively progresssive.
He bellows:
“Ah yeah, that's whatcha say when you see a devil down
Ah yeah, that's whatcha say when you take the devil's crown
Ah yeah, stay alive all things will change around
Ah yeah, what? Ah yeah!”
Then comes the establishment of an eerie bass line. This song structure is familiar to fans of his earlier work. It was what they were longing for. For a few albums he took the perspective of being in the classroom or office as opposed to in the battlefield with his men. He had returned to fight with us like Haile Selassie. Immediately he establishes a dual level of respect. One with his men and one with his deterrent.
“So here I go kickin' science in ninety-five
I be illin', parental discretion is advised still
Don't call me nigga, this MC goes for his
Call me God, cause that's what the black man is
Roamin' through the forest as the hardest lyrical artist
Black women you are not a bitch you're a Goddess
Let it be known, you can lean on KRS-One
Like a wall cause I'm hard, I represent God”
In the first 2 bars of the preceding excerption he lets us know he intends to drop some knowledge, but it will not be filtered for political correctness or comfortability. The following 2 bars he establishes both a tone of encounterment and identity. Then he goes on to explain from which direction he came much like Saint Maurice's appearance upon the plagued people of Europe to let them know he has navigated and he is no spook. He goes on to talk to his listener and the most important of them, the women.
In 1994, fresh off a press tour on which she gained popularity from criticizing Bill Clinton, Sister Souljah published her first book that was heralded by black scholars and youth alike entitled No Disrespect. Her Influence was cemented in the minds of black youth and played a huge role in raising generational consciousness by dealing with topics like “how the black woman is viewed by black men” and “the black woman’s role in repairing the black family structure”. She had solely been awarded leadership duties by a disregarded demographic in a scapegoated culture and was handling it with the grace of Misty Copeland.  Her and the women she raised to consciousness needed the camaraderie of Krs One. He goes on to sell to himself:
“Wack MC's have one style: gun buck
But when you say, "Let's buck for revolution"
They shut the fuck up, can't get with it
Down to start a riot in a minute
You'll hear so many Bowe-Bowe-Bowe, you think I'm Riddick
While other MC's are talkin' bout up with hope down with dope
I'll have a devil in my infrared scope,”
In the first five bars he addresses the enemies of the oppressed people within the oppressed people. These “Wack MC’s” are the Uncle Toms’ and Judas of the rebellious, afro-centric movement that is Hip-Hop. He says they lack discipline and do not have the self awareness to rescue themselves. In comparison with himself who uses that energy toward an ultimate goal, Independence through revolution. In the succeeding excerption KRS briefly displays the cognitive processing and coping mechanism of a warrior:
“WOY
That's for calling my father a boy and, klak, klak, klak
That's for putting scars on my mother's back, BO
That's for calling my sister a ho, and for you
Buck, buck, buck  cause I don't give a motherfuck
Remember the whip, remember the chant
Remember the rope and
You black people still thinkin' about voting?
Every President we ever had lied!
You know, I'm kinda glad Nixon died.”
Throughout the preceding excerption KRS skillfully uses onomatopoeias to create a setting for his listener. There is a battle going on. Shells casings are falling to the ground and bullets are flying from high caliber weapons. He is in the thick of it and then an enemy approaches him. He musters the courage to engage with his assailant by remembering the suffrage the morals of his enemies’ elected nation-state has caused his ancestors. Then he rejoices in the death of one of their leaders, Richard Nixon.
In the second verse Krs-One addresses an age-old topic of discussion for spiritual people that was brought forth to the Afrikans of today by Noble Drew Ali, “The Prophetic Soul”. This belief dates back to ancient Buddhism in the caves of Asia taught to us by Dr. Ivan Van Sertima in his book “African Presence in Early Asia”. This belief entails that all the prophets of the world including but not limted to; Adam, Jesus, Buddha, Muhammad, and himself were the same soul being reborn until its mission is completed.” Krs-One puts himself and a couple others in this divine line of being.
“This is not the first time I came to the planet
concern every time I come, only a few could understand it
I came as Isis, my words they tried to ban it
I came as Moses, they couldn't follow my Commandments
I came as Solomon, to a people that was lost
I came as Jesus, but they nailed me to a cross
I came as Harriet Tubman, I put the truth to Sojourner
Other times, I had to come as Nat Turner
They tried to burn me, lynch me and starve me
So I had to come back as Marcus Garvey, Bob Marley
They tried to harm me, I used to be Malcolm X
Now I'm on the planet as the one called KRS
Kickin' the metaphysical, spiritual, tryin' to like
Get with you, showin' you, you are invincible
The Black Panther is the black answer for real
In my spiritual form, I turn into Bobby Seale
On the wheels of steel, my spirit flies away
And enters into Kwame Ture”
In the beginning of the third verse he briefly continues the theme of possessing The Prophetic Soul but now, he does not speak from a perspective of being the people who had the soul. He speaks from the perspective of the soul. This soul is traveling and looking for a host. In the first two bars he speaks of how he was able to travel without detection from the government’s surveillance. Then, he goes on to finally choose a host that is relevant to the demographic of people it intends to reach. This host is stylish and his image is relatable, so the people will be receptive of his message through familiarity.
“In the streets there is no EQ, no di-do-di-do-di-do
So I grab the air and speak through the code
The devil cannot see through as I unload
Into another cerebellum
Then I can tell em, because my vibes go through denim
And leather whatever, however, I'm still rockin”
After the prophetic soul latches on to the host, KRS-One, it manifests purpose with grassroot organization and motivational speaking. Being KRS-One founded the Stop the Violence Movement in 1988 and was solely responsible for mobilizing many of the most influential Hip Hoppers against Gang Violence and Culture he had plenty of knowledge to give on the topic.
“We used to pick cotton, now we pick up cotton when we shoppin'
Have you forgotten why we buildin' in a cypher
Yo hear me kid, government is building in a pyramid
The son of God is brighter than the son of man
The spirit is, check your dollar bill G, here it is
We got no time for fancy mathematics
Your mental frequency frequently pickin' up static
Makin' you a naked body, addict and it's democratic
They press auto, and you kill it with an automatic”
Too often credit for the creation and establishment of a culture or society is given to one person as opposed to being evenly distributed amongst the support structure. How many times have you been taught the legacy of all the men that signed the declaration of independence? It is likely that you’ve only been taught about Thomos Jefferson. Just like there would be no Fidel Castro without the parallel influences of Che Guevara and Camilo Ceinfuegos there would be no Hip-Hop without KRS ONE. Perhaps without his tenacity, passion, and will it would have been infiltrated and exploited before it reached its full maturity. If that would have happened America would not have its current number one export. In his prime most consumers who listened to his message and gazed upon his image said “OH NO!”  from fear of what they could not understand. Today, we look at his legacy of art and effort and cant help ,but smile and yell “AH YEAH!”.
Books read in October
I read a paperback book for the first time in over three months months and was sharply aware that I couldn’t change anything about the way the text was displayed to make it more comfortable to read. I wondered, sadly, if I no longer like reading physical books.
Then I became engrossed in the story, and there were long stretches of time when I didn’t think about how I was reading a brick of printed paper. I turned pages as automatically and effortlessly as breathing. I think I was just out of practice.
This month’s Unintentional Colour Scheme: pink, purple and light blue.
Favourite covers: The Time-Traveling Popcorn Ball and The Other Side of the Sky.
Also read: “Good Neighbors” by Stephanie Burgis and Tiny House, Big Love by Olivia Dade. (And half a romance novel which I disliked and have no interest in remembering or reviewing.)
Reread: The last section of The Beckoning Hills by Ruth Elwin Harris. The middle section of Hunting by Andrea K. Höst.
Still reading: Between Silk and Cyanide by Leo Marks, and Angel Mage by Garth Nix.
Next up: The Switch  by Beth O’Leary, and Hamster Princess: Little Red Rodent Hood by Ursula Vernon.
*
The Time-Traveling Popcorn Ball by Aster Glenn Gray: A magical story of time-travel and of friendship between eleven year old Piper, who has just moved into a new house, and Rosie, who lived in the same house fifty years earlier. It’s totally charming, and exactly the sort of story I adored growing up. Sometimes that makes me wish I could send a book back in time to my younger self, but I appreciated this book’s references to things that my younger self didn’t know about. I also appreciated how, even though I’ve read similar stories, I couldn’t predict how this one would end. That was very satisfying.
The Game of Kings by Dorothy Dunnett: In 1547, Francis Crawford, the Master of Lymond, wanted by the Scottish government for treason, is back in Edinburgh. The audiobook was the perfect way to experience this! The voices the narrator uses highlights clues in the text, about who’s speaking or the subtext and emotional tones of a conversation, which helped me to follow the story even when I felt confused about exactly what was going on. I enjoyed the Scottish accents, the clever wit, the ambiguity about Lymond’s plans and motives, and the way many characters are very intelligent, perceptive people. I was interested in the historical political intrigue. I loved the twists and revelations, which are brilliant -- incredibly clever and satisfying.
“Good Neighbors” by Stephanie Burgis:  The first “fantasy rom-com” about a grumpy inventor who, along with her father, moves into a cottage nextdoor to a notorious necromancer in his big black castle. I wasn’t expecting to read about Mia stitching up undead minions, but appreciate that Burgis doesn’t take this opportunity to give glory details. This short story was fun and satisfying, and I am looking forward to when the rest of this series becomes (easily) available.
Lake of Sorrows by Erin Hart: After Haunted Ground, Dr Nora Gavin heads to the midlands west of Dublin to oversee the evacuation of another body discovered in a peat bog. The setting is fascinating and I like the atmosphere -- this has a strong sense of both place and mystery. However the multiple murders meant there’s more unpleasantness than I’d prefer. But it’s probably not enough to deter me from reading the next book.
The Dictionary of Lost Words by Pip Williams: Engrossing -- a poignant story of childhood during the late 19th century and womanhood in the early 20th century, and an absolutely fascinating insight into the decades-long process behind the first Oxford English Dictionary. Esme’s father is one of the lexicographers collecting and defining words for the Dictionary. Esme grows up with a fascination for words and begins to collect words that the Dictionary leaves out. I liked that Esme has people in her life who love and support her, but the ending is intensely sad. I’m not sure why that disappointed me. As an ending, it fits this story.
Taking Down Evelyn Tait by Poppy Nwosu: Australian YA. Lottie is furious that no one else seems to realise what Evelyn Tait, her nemesis (and stepsister) is like. Her best friend Grace is in love with Evelyn. Her teachers and her father tell Lottie she should emulate Evelyn. So Lottie decides that she’s going to do just that -- she’s going to be better than Miss Perfect. I thought this was a very realistic portrayal of a teenager’s relationships -- with family, with friends, with school and with herself. It’s amusing and, ultimately, believably positive. It captures Lottie’s perspective and her experiences in-the-moment so effectively and intensely.
Wired Love: a romance of dots and dashes by Ella Cheever Thayer (1888): Nattie, a telegraph operator who chats whenever she can “over the wire” with C., another telegraph operator miles down the line. I love stories where characters fall in love through exchanged messages. And the experiences of telegraph operators is absolutely fascinating -- simultaneously a product of the past and yet incredibly relatable from a contemporary perspective, because the internet and mobile phones mean we communicate so much through text. After Nattie and Clem meet, the focus shifts away from the telegraph office to antics at their boardinghouse, but the story continues to be fun and delightful.
Once Upon a Con series by Ashley Poston:
Geekerella: When Elle discovers her late parents’ cosplay costumes in a box in the attic, she hatches a plan to enter a cosplay competition and use the prize to escape her step-family. This contemporary Cinderella retelling about two teenage fans of a SF series Starfield is a romance-through-messages story. Elle uses her father’s old phone, so sometimes she gets messages from people about ExcelsiCon, the convention her father founded. One message sparks a conversation -- but neither she nor Darien realise just who they’re texting. As expected, this is fun and fandom-y, and it makes the coincidences and Cinderella moments feel believable.
The Princess and the Fangirl: At ExcelsiCon, Starfield actress Jessica Stone swaps places with a fan, Imogen. Jess needs to find a mislaid script before she’s accused of leaking it, and Imogen hopes for an opportunity to promote the #Save Amara initiative. I enjoyed how they both experience a different side of fandom. Imogen discovers the pressures of being a star, when con appearances are your job, and, away from the spotlight, Jess discovers how cons allow people to come together and celebrate things they love.  My only disappointment was the way they both deceive Imogen’s fandom friend, Harper. I wish that had been handled differently.
The Little Bookshop at Herring Cove by Kellie Hailes: Unlike other books I’ve borrowed because they had “bookshop” in the title, this didn’t focus very much on books, nor did it describe its bookshop vividly. Sophie could have easily owned a different sort of shop without changing the plot, the setting or the atmosphere. This is a light-hearted romance about nice people in a generic seaside town -- not what I was looking for. I wanted more about books and a stronger sense of place.
Lilac Girls by Martha Hall Kelly (narrated by Cassandra Campbell, Kathleen Gati and Kathrin Kana): This begins with three different women at the start of WWII -- a teenager in Poland, a newly-graduated doctor in Germany and a wealthy consulate worker in New York -- and  becomes about the Ravensbruck Rabbits, Polish political prisoners subjected to medical experimentation. Not what I expected or wanted to be reading (which is not its fault. I switched to the ebook, because I'm irrationally squeamish about some medical things and cope better when reading to myself). This story is compelling and does a good job of showing how the pain and trauma didn’t just end with the war. And it’s incredibly important to keep telling stories about distressing parts of history.
The Other Side of the Sky by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner: More or less the sort of story I expected from these two. Nimh is the Divine One in a world of magic and prophecy. North is a prince in a floating city of science and engineering. Nimh believes the gods fled into the sky thousands of years ago, and North believes no one still lives down on the surface… until he crashes his glider. I enjoyed this but don’t feel any emotional investment -- yet. I will read the sequel.
Spoiler Alert by Olivia Dade: April and Marcus keep fandom separate from their professional lives -- April to avoid negative comments, Marcus (an actor) to avoid violating his contract. So when Marcus sees a cosplay photo of April online, he doesn’t recognise his friend, he just sees a gorgeous woman getting nasty comments and invites her to dinner. I was hooked. As a romance, this didn’t always focus on the things I most wanted it to, but I understood why it made those narrative choices and liked how the characters resolved their mistakes. And I really liked it as a story about fanfiction and the way we tell stories in response to other stories.
Big Love, Tiny House by Olivia Dade: Lucy goes on a Tiny House Hunting show and drags along her best friend Sebastian. I’ve watched countless tiny house videos on Youtube, so it was fun to see tiny houses depicted in fiction -- although I was disappointed that all the houses are so disastrously bad. Beyond that, I have no strong feelings one way or another about this romance novella.
Memento: an Illuminae Files novella by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff (narrated by a full cast): A bonus prequel, set aboard the Alexander prior to the events of Illuminae. The audiobook is so well done! Even though this is a short story/novella, I cared about the new characters it introduces -- I really like the epistolary format and how it requires the reader to fill in some of the gaps for themselves. (I think that’s part of why I love The Illuminae Files but so far have no strong feelings about Kaufman and Kristoff’s latest series.) And it’s always interesting to see more of AIDAN.

This is a lot of ooc for one evening but I feel that this is a good time to finally come out and make an idea that I have been toying with for years and make it canon because I think the concept is interesting.
There are many different headcanons that people have, with time, developed for blood magic. So, it is important that I first explain what is my personal take and how that affects the way that the priestess (and the rest of the world which my characters exist in) is affected by it.
Blood magic has the potential to become highly addictive when one uses their own blood and self mutilates to achieve their goals and enhance their abilities (self harm)
The priestess wakes up as the breach in the sky opens (a headcanon and explanation for another time). For now, it is enough to know that she has been asleep since before Andraste was killed by the flames, but around when Andraste was making her march. By the time of Inquisition, the priestess is around 8000 years old, she predates Arlathan as a city only by a couple of years and is part of the generation that was born between the shift of the Evanuris being considered Kings to Gods (in the very late stages of this process). She has been using blood magic on herself since her late years of childhood and so is extremely addicted to it. Add to the fact that her blood is that of an ancient elf and, true or not, she feels it is more powerful than using someone else’s.
Blood magic tears at your connection to the fade. In time, making all spirits hostile towards their presence, and having the blood mage’s nature affecting their own, even without wanting to do it. A side effect of this is: sooner or later, healing spells have a lesser effect on a blood mage practitioner.
This can of course be disputed. Some blood mages can use blood magic to heal themselves with magic, though, I would also add that I consider healing magic a school that pulls from the fade to heal one’s wounds, and not stealing vitality from another living being. My personal headcanon is that the use of blood magic, one way or another, can affect the way that the fade reacts to a mage because it is no longer mana that feeds the mage but a sense of vitality. This means that a powerful enough blood mage could likely pull some from spirits too. This also would be able to explain how a blood mage can shift a spirit’s nature (summon demons).
So, taking these things into account, there are 3 other points that are important to keep in mind:
Dreamers are able to change dreams and the fade.
Dreamers having more vivid dreams and so are in greater risk of possession.
In Elvhenan, dreamers (especially those born to poor families) were taken from them / given to temples where they become part of the noble class (and one of the highest ones at that).
So here is my concept and right now part of the canon: the priestess is a dreamer who had her potential stunted by the violence that she has been put through her whole life time, PTSD and blood magic.
To elaborate what I mean: the priestess, as a child, was meant to be given to the temple of Elgar’nan. Not because she was identified as a dreamer, even then, Elgara was a girl plagued by constant nightmares but nothing that one would consider special. She was being offered because her mother was a fanatical devout. They were dirt poor farmers and to be able to give a child to a temple was the best way that one could, back then, to provide a better life. Elgara ran away from her village as a child, alongside other children that were due to undergo the process. Their objective: to reach Arlathan since they had heard that anyone could find a place there.
This, of course, didn’t turn out to be true or as easy to achieve. The group grew up very fast and not all of them made it. By the time that Elgara hits her young adult years, she has been working as a mercenary for nearly a decade, heavily relying on blood magic to make sure that she is safe and is more powerful than she would have been without it. Elgara had always had issues with nightmares, add a really hard way of living that resulted in PTSD, being in constant fight or flight for so long, blood magic plus being a dreamer and that tally adds up really fast.
The fact that the priestess sleeps very little is not a recent (Inquisition) thing. It is a thing from her childhood that grew worse, and worse and worse (until she joined Falon’din’s  temple, also a headcanon for another time). When the veil fell, her whole world fell apart but so did any veneer of emotional and mental stability that she had.
Being a dreamer has enhanced a lot of fragility that she has always had, whilst making her more powerful in other things.
This is already a very long post, but especially in Inquisition and Trespasser, any time that the priestess has moved to the Fade (in Eluvians and Dreams) it would be stunningly clear that she heavily affects the world around her. The space around her is negatively impacted as are all living things and she doesn’t necessarily have control over it. The priestess was never told or made aware that she was a dreamer because by the time that anyone could likely aid her, it would mean a lot of work and effort given everything else. Especially when those that would be able to see it are also ones that would want her to continue being what she had been until that point: a lethal and effective weapon.
In ancient Arlathan, a world that was so intrinsically connected to the way that dreamers change and affect reality it is no wonder that the priestess was a frightening presence to be standing before. No wonder that she was as formidable as a general in the hands of Falond’in. When she and Falon’din’s armies crashed against another’s forces it probably did feel like the end of the world was coming because reality around them was changing with her as the head.
"I do not believe they sing songs about Falon'Din's vanity. It is said Falon'Din's appetite for adulation was so great, he began wars to amass more worshippers. The blood of those who wouldn't bow low filled lakes as wide as oceans. Mythal rallied the gods, once the shadow of Falon'Din's hunger stretched across her own people. It was almost too late. Falon'Din only surrendered when his brethren bloodied him in his own temple."

Hey, sorry to be a bother but do you know any metas about Driftwood and the mythological significance of have Stranger called such? If not, could you please help me find any metas about the importance of Stranger (the horse and the god) to Sandor's future? Thank you!!
It’s no bother at all.  I love talking about this stuff.  I don’t recall any other metas specifically on that topic, but I do go into the meaning of Driftwood/Stranger in Part VI of my Winds prediction essay for Sandor.  I’m staying narrowly focused on your question here, but mythological significance branches out much farther and features heavily throughout each section of that essay if you have any further interest.
And the seventh face … the Stranger was neither male nor female, yet both, ever the outcast, the wanderer from far places, less and more than human, unknown and unknowable. Here the face was a black oval, a shadow with stars for eyes. It made Catelyn uneasy. –  Catelyn IV, ACOK.
Of the Seven, the Stranger is the one most regarded with fear for his/her association with death and the unknown.  He/she’s either depicted as a shrouded half-human, half-animal, or with a blacked-out void for a face.  Sandor has that thematic aesthetic going on with his hound’s head helm, which gives him the appearance of being both a man and a beast.  That is a reflection of the duality of his identity between Sandor and the Hound.  He frequently enters a scene by stepping out from the shadows, so he also fits with the shadowy figure version.  Sandor also isn’t one to allow others to know his true self, at least until Sansa, Arya, and the Elder Brother.  Rarely does any worshipper pray to the Stranger as few are eager to invite death itself in, of course.  It’s no wonder that the outcasts of society might identify with that lonely aspect of being an unwelcome presence and having nowhere to belong.
For Sandor to give his horse such a blasphemous name, it’s because he views himself as someone who is feared and misunderstood, and as an outsider who stands on the outside looking in at the world.  This is especially true as he is immersed in the culture of knighthood but emphatically rebels against it.  There is much of ordinary life that is closed off to Sandor, and it’s not all due to his trauma response and poor coping skills alienating him from other people.  A lot of it is just unfair.  His perceived ugliness in a society that overwhelmingly favors physically beautiful people and despises disability or disfigurement has hindered his ability to create meaningful connections with others.  That resentment has only built up throughout his life.  He’s a second son who is forced to make his own way in the world since Gregor is the sole beneficiary of the Clegane lands and incomes.  It’s Gregor that got the home and wife (three to be exact), which is the domestic life that would normally ground a man, giving him a sense of purpose and satisfying his emotional needs.  Gregor doesn’t care for any of that, but there is a hint that Sandor feels this is something that has been denied him.  Since many people fail to distinguish Sandor as different from his brother, Gregor’s infamy and the rumors surrounding the deaths of his wives and family members really don’t help either.  After the BotBW, Sandor is really cut adrift from society by his desertion.  He’s unfairly marked as a craven, and then in a tragic case of mistaken identity is wanted for the rape and massacre of the Saltpans.  That’s about as hated and reviled as one can get.
Like other instances of named horses being a reflection of their riders, Stranger’s nature says a lot about Sandor’s.  He’s proficient in battle, brave, disciplined, but extremely ill-tempered, and dangerous; however, with gentle handling from a master that has earned his trust, he’s able to respond in kind.
The horse was a heavy courser, almost as big as a destrier but much faster. Stranger, the Hound called him. Arya had tried to steal him once, when Clegane was taking a piss against a tree, thinking she could ride off before he could catch her. Stranger had almost bitten her face off. He was gentle as an old gelding with his master, but otherwise he had a temper as black as he was. She had never known a horse so quick to bite or kick.
There’s a bond there.  The horse isn’t just a tool or weapon to be used.  Sandor cares for this big, scary boy that no one else can get close to.  After rescuing Sansa from the riot, his next thought is to go back to find his horse in the chaos and fire.  Because Sandor gave him the name, it shows that he has the self-awareness of how his issues and anti-social behavior have only served to increase his sense of isolation and cement other people’s negative opinions.  The only reason an animal would so readily bite or kick indiscriminately is that it’s in constant fear of being hurt by people (*sob*).  It’s possible Sandor recognized a warhorse that was trained with brutal methods, not unlike his own childhood and adolescence.  One can imagine how much patience, kindness, and courage it took to bring such an ornery beast to the point where he can trust and reciprocate.
People are more complicated than animals, of course; however, this is definitely meant to mirror his relationship with Sansa and her gentleness, compassion, and courage in the face of his anger issues.  Though not many are not keen on giving attention to the Stranger in their prayers, Sansa does pray for Sandor’s safety and well-being.  The Stranger is the last deity people turn to for comfort, and yet Sansa views Sandor as her protector and ally.  She wishes for his presence at times, even after seeing him at his worst.  And I love, love, love this line from Cersei about Sansa, who is deep into the unkiss rabbit hole at this point:
“… but before I am done with her, I promise you, she will be singing to the Stranger, begging for his kiss.“ – Cersei IV, AFFC.
So that brings us to Stranger’s renaming to Driftwood, but first, we need to ask what exactly is the Quiet Isle?  Quoting from Part IV of my essay:
“The Quiet Isle is also a place to cross over into the afterlife in more than one way.  Sometimes the dead and dying wash up on the shores, as did the Elder Brother.  Sometimes they are brought there like the Hound or the people of the Saltpans after the massacre to die or be healed.  The metaphoric and most common way is for penitents to abandon their old lives to be reborn in a new monastic life.  In a sense, the brothers on the isle are dead to the outside world.  They don’t speak with few exceptions.  Many cover their faces as well, obscuring their past identity.  Their brown robes and cowls are like the dead driftwood that washes up there, but even driftwood gets reborn as beautiful polished furniture and cups.  If you want to come on the Quiet Isle, you need Elder Brother’s or one of his proctor’s permission.  There’s a ferry to the isle which is evocative of Charon.  So that makes Elder Brother, like Garth Greenhand, a psychopomp.  He’s a gatekeeper between life and death, literal and metaphoric, and can also return people to the world of the living.  The imagery is evocative of the Elysian Fields and especially Avalon, where King Arthur was taken to recover from wounds sustained against Mordred at the Battle of Camlann and is destined to return from. ”
Driftwood was dead and washed up, but then it is collected, reshaped and polished into something beautiful with a new purpose in its second life.  Driftwood in this context is a metaphor for healing and redemption.
“The furnishings were strange but simple; a long table, a settle, a chest, several tall cases full of books, and chairs. All were made from driftwood, oddly shaped pieces cunningly joined together and polished till they shone a deep gold in the candlelight.” – Brienne VI, AFFC.
Amazing Grace, How sweet the soundThat saved a wretch like meI once was lost, but now am foundT'was blind but now I see
I zero doubts that Sandor’s character is undergoing a radical and profound transformation on the Quiet Isle.  He was broken down enough to be open to it when the Elder Brother picked him up from the shore of the Trident.  Also kinda miraculous that Stranger must have allowed himself to be led by another person while Sandor was incapacitated; however, it’s obvious Stranger is never going to spend the rest of his days as a plowhorse.
Brother Narbert sighed. “The Seven send us blessings, and the Seven send us trials. Handsome he may be, but Driftwood was surely whelped in hell. When we sought to harness him to a plow he kicked Brother Rawney and broke his shinbone in two places. We had hoped gelding might improve the beast’s ill temper, but … Brother Gillam, will you show them?”
Brother Gillam lowered his cowl. Underneath he had a mop of blond hair, a tonsured scalp, and a bloodstained bandage where he should have had an ear. – Brienne VI, AFFC.
This makes me laugh because although I believe Sandor has learned to have a healthier mindset through humble service and meaningful penance, he probably has been a veritable pill through the process.  As Stranger kicks and rebels, we should definitely conclude that Sandor’s time with the holy brothers is not permanent.  Especially considering that the horse adamantly refuses to be gelded, Sandor will not be submitting to the celibate life of a monk.  The new name likely won’t stick, because Sandor didn’t so much need a whole new identity, but to restore his original one.  The Hound is dead, but Sandor Clegane lives, polished and remade with a new purpose to his life.

A little ask compilation so that I don’t clog up dashboards! Answered in the order that they’re presented!
1) THANK YOU!  I had a blast drawing them all.  These guys really are going through some tough times and I’m making it my biggest priority to make their facial expressions the most expressive they can be.
2) That is certainly one of the reasons Seam has such a facial expression!  They are also very spooked at how Spade King reacted and how the other Kings really just glossed right over it without really doing anything about it.  Shaken up from no longer having Jevil by their side, shaken by the tense atmosphere, and has a whirlwind of emotions going through their mind from the statement ‘we know you cared deeply for him’ as if they don’t care anymore.  It’s heartwrenching for them to witness.  And they’re still trying to process their emotions.
3) IM GLAD YOU ENJOY THEIR EXPRESSIONS!  That King is a crazy time-consuming task to draw, but I am pleased with the good reactions I’ve been getting from a few readers!
4) Yes, I do think that the Kings were all good friends before the time period where Deltarune takes place.  I like to think that Spade King is the ‘speaker’ for the four Kings.  He makes big decisions and arranges affairs and meetings.  The Diamond King is certainly the one in charge of funds- a treasury if you would.  Club King is a system of checks and balances, making sure every option is heard when making laws and rules.  And Hearts King is somewhat like the Judge- keeping the peace.  Making sure all sides are happy when subjects within the Kingdom have problems with each other.  Together, they run a very peaceful place and they definitely have never had to deal with anything quite like Jevil.  Not by a long shot.
I regards to your other question, yes!  That is the reason they were able to forgive him so quickly.  That, and they know that Spade has been working through anger management.  It’s his biggest point of self improvement.  He does meditation and practices mindfulness and things like that and the other Kings are aware of that.  This was still a rather bad outburst, but they understand that tensions are high and are willing to work so that all of them can get through this together.
5) IM VERY HAPPY THAT YOU PICKED UP ON THAT!  I love to think that the Knight’s mere presence causes people’s worst qualities to amplify significantly.  And that includes the heightened emotions of the Diamond King and thus why I have made some... hm hmm... artistic choices within this update!  And yes, it’s my headcanon that the Kings were still all ruling together when Jevil was to be imprisoned.  It’s a lot of fun to play around with ideas that these 4  monarchs are attempting to wrangle a single murderous jester, all while dealing with their own heightened negative emotions.
6) OH EXCELLENT!  Get your seatbelt on.  Allll aboard!  I am happy to have given you some nice lil tiny bit of fluff through the tense feeling of this chapter!

Woozi’s Ideal Type - Natal Chart Reading
For more SVT astrology posts, follow my blog! For more posts like this, check out my masterlist as I’ll be doing an in-depth ideal type post for each member!
For ideal types, I’m not going to be doing specific placements of their ideal partner. Instead, I’m gonna be listing personality traits I think would mesh well with them, as well as focus on their needs and the kind of person who could meet them. Keep in mind these are almost “perfect” descriptions of their ideal types based off their natal charts. I promise you that there is no one in the world that 100% fits these descriptions and thats where communication and compromise come in and all that fun stuff.
(Woozi could definitely be a Sag Sun and who knows I may change my mind, but rn I think he’s a scorpio sun. This interpretation doesn’t change much based on his sun as both Scorpio and Sag suns are both independent and desire authentic experiences as romantic partners).
someone fun (fire influence).
someone creative, outgoing, and independent.
interests should be similar as he’d want to connect with someone over his passions, and would want to share in his excitement.
charming, intelligent, rational, communicative (libra venus)
ambitious, adventurous, open-minded, optimistic (sag mercury).
independent, independent, independent. I cannot say it enough. Literally every single part of his chart indicates that he needs SPACE and FREEDOM and would want that for his partner as well.
in my experience, even though scorpios don’t want to admit it, they LOVE validation and they love attention (not in the “asking for permission” type of validation, but they like to have their competence acknowledged).
and although an aries moon may not rely as much on validation as a scorpio sun may, they still love attention.
he’s going to want to be with someone who makes him feel good about himself.
he’s not immune to a great pep talk or a little bit of sincere flattery, and his s/o should be someone whose very generous in their communicating of this.
(even though he may say it makes him uncomfortable. he loves it and I promise he wants it acknowledged).
for that reason as well, he’s going to want to be with someone who encourages and challenges him and has a ready and waiting ear for his ideas, concerns, and random thoughts.
great sense of humor, super super funny (maybe a bit on the sarcastic side) thanks to his sag mercury.
his aries moon also makes him very playful making him crave a youthful and free relationship with his partner.
i’ve noticed aries placements love a kind of “kindred” silliness.
They like being with someone who will meet their ridiculousness halfway.
(also all fire placements love arguing with their significant other over dumb things. this is a fact).
his fiery placements would get very bored with someone who took themselves too seriously.
not to mention his sag influence makes him extremely optimistic so he’d feel bogged down my someone ultra realistic/practical/pessimistic.
he wants to get excited about life and his life with his s/o. they should be equally excited and hopeful for their future together.
they should offer him a very sincere and simple emotional connection as his aries moon and scorpio sun sextile uranus and pluto would want authenticity and would be very quick to suss out shallowness.
not to mention an aries moon can make him incredibly straight forward, while scorpio/sag placements give him a sense of him being a no-nonsense, straight forward guy.
he is fiercely independent thanks to his scorpio sun and aries moon, but his libra venus makes him crave romance.
once he’s set his eyes on someone, that’s all he’ll be thinking about.
like picking-petals-off-lowers, head-over-heels kind of love.
not to mention a scorpio sun would add a super strong tendency towards obsessive habits in love? maybe not in a creepy way like it sounds, but it’d seep into everything he did. the members would probs get annoyed cuz he’ll find a way to talk about his s/o whenever he can, all of his songs will be about them, etc. etc.
the libra venus really softens every other part of his chart that makes him seem indifferent.
it also explains why so many of his songs focus on love, but not just superficial love. like, the more nuanced parts of love and break ups. it goes to show how deeply he’s thought about it and how naturally romantic he is.
it’d also explain why he once said during a fansign that he wrote home because he was lonely (brb gotta cry) this is his libra venus being hyper aware of the space he’s saving for someone.
due to his afflicted moon he’s going to seem cold and distant in the relationship from the outside but he is ACTUALLY the fuzziest boy.
his afflicted aries moon and (unafflicted) libra venus would give him a clumsy, awkward, yet incredibly thoughtful and sincere way of expressing love.
maybe not the king of grand gestures, but his moments will be incredibly sincere and observant.
they’d be moments where his s/o would be surprised he noticed, or didn’t even realize he had been having such sweet and deep thoughts.
it’ll take his s/o by surprise because he keeps his feelings and thoughts close to his chest due to his secretive and private scorpio sun, but he will a-matter-of-factly state them when the moment arises thanks to his scorpio, aries, and sag placements that, again, make him a no-nonsense guy on all fronts.
His afflicted moon and well aspected saturn means that he struggles with emotional freedom and expression while also being incredibly disciplined.
he’d want someone with self-control and goals.
this is also heighten by his virgo mars which makes him both disciplined, a perfectionist, and pretty set in his ways (ya, I know virgo is a mutable sign but have you ever actually met a virgo. you try and get them to eat a piece of toast slightly too toasted for them and it shuts down their core processing).
not only that, but virgos like security.
they like predictability and have very specific preferences that will personally offend them if violated so his s/o should be both understanding and compatible with him on these fronts.
like it may be a deal-breaker if their lifestyles were too different once the initial romance tames and they have to learn to coexist.
this is further emphasized by the fact that virgo is the sign of health, lifestyle & wellbeing. they value this and can tend to be rather inflexible on this front.
his outer planets are all very well aspected to his personal planets, specifically uranus and saturn.
meaning that he’s not only independent, unique, and goal-oriented, but he’s going to want to see the same in his partner.
his trajectory is forward. he is a visionary in the sense of having a great deal of creativity and the work-ethic to see his visions through, and if his partner is someone too focused in the moment and far too preoccupied with getting him to settle down, their paths are simply incompatible.
it really just emphasizes how independent and individualistic he is as a person.
his libra venus definitely softens this and can certainly make him a hopeless romantic, but his core values would make it that he would never allow himself to be too dependent on his partner.
he wants to be his own person before he enters a relationship, and he’d be very adverse to dating someone whose life and goals centered too solely on romance/relationships.
his saturn aspects, afflicted moon, along with a virgo mars mean that he is someone who both struggles with, and desires a kind of “liberation” from time to time.
his s/o should be fun and free and help him forget about the aspects of himself that may be overly self-conscious in certain moments. teach him how to be reckless every now and again while also keeping him on track with his own goals. they shouldn’t be tooo wild, lmao.
Let’s not forget a saturn in aries which is gonna inhibit his ability to be open and expressive as a need for composure and control is incredibly strong, while simultaneously making him rather flighty with commitment and attention.
his need for action and ability to express and process negative feelings like anger are inhibited and go through an confusing filter of being hot-headed and impulsive, to overly critical and cautious which can lead to him appearing cold and short.
his partner should be patient and empathetic enough to help him through these situations, but also understand that him needing space doesn’t reflect his feelings towards his partner.
as passionate and good-humored he’d want his partner to be, a big turn off would be someone who is too expressive and too intense to the point of lacking tact. He’d need someone with self-control, but also someone persistent and committed in order to balance out the aries part of his aries saturn when it decides to act up as it can make him flighty from time to time.
this is heightened by his virgo mars, which can make him very set in his ways and pushing him out of his comfort zones when he’s clearly not interested in challenging those comfort zones is only going to freak him out or irritate him.
trying to breach these will put him on edge, and will more likely push him away than anything else.
not only that, but it’d probably freak him out as it would paint you as someone who wouldn’t know how to give him space.
(literally @ soonyoung).
sounds contradictory but it’s not much more complicated than just encouraging him by example, not by coercion.
in general, he’s looking for someone who can both balance him out and challenge him.
his s/o should be fun, independent, and goal-oriented.
someone charming with a flare for dramatics here and there, but ultimately someone poised he can be proud of who he can look on with with respect and admiration and who’d think the same of him.
someone communicative and ultra-creative, i can see him loving being able to pick up random interests with his s/o that they can discuss and collaborate on.
he greatly desires intellectual companionship paired with a great deal of independence: ideally, he’d want a relationship where their goals are similar and they can encourage, help, and be a place of healing and rejuvenation to one another while making each other laugh along the way.

Will Prince Harry Attend Remembrance Day? Draft, WIP
This is speculation only.
Practise spread - we will see how much I get written up.
Celtic Cross Spread
Spread drawn at  approximately 4.15am on the 15th of September GMT
Cards used: The Mythic Tarot (the cards are based on a version of Greco-Roman mythology; the descriptions are more the mixed, popular culture version of mythology than the original myths, so keep that in mind as you read the interpretations below)
All interpretations taken from the book that came with the cards
*
The Celtic Cross had 3 Major Arcanas out of 10 cards, so while this is significant for the BRF and will be played out on the world stage, it is not hugely significant for them (only 1/3 or so of the cards were major arcana). Of the remaining 7 cards, there were 3 Cups, 2 Swords, and 2 Wands. No Pentacles. So this is not about money, it is about family and emotions and being nurturing (Cups), long-term, strategic planning (Swords), and the image that is communicated to those outside the BRF (Wands). Repeated numbers were two Sixes, two Twos, and two Nines. I usually only consider repeated numbers if they repeat three or more times.
*
Bottom of the Deck - Overall Theme - Strength (Card 10)
Tumblr media
This card shows Heracles wrestling with the Nemean Lion in a cave.
The lion can represent royalty, even at its most destructive, i.e. Harry. The lion is also the infantile, savage, and completely egocentric beginnings of individuality, i.e. Harry's attempts to 'find himself' as a person and all the damage these attempts have caused to others. The lion here is the Nemean Lion, which possessed a hide that no weapon could pierce, giving it a shield of invincibility, i.e. Harry's position in the Royal family. Here the Nemean Lion stands for a "Me First" drive that will happily destroy anyone and anything in its path, as long as its gratification is assured. One of the manifestations of this "Me First" drive is an furious, explosive, rage-driven tantrum when the person does not get their own way. Another is bombast and an inflated sense of self importance, making the person savage and unrelenting both towards the people on whom they are dependent (i.e. Harry and the BRF) and the people [who they see as] stealing their limelight (also harry and the BRF).
Heracles wresting with the lion shows the struggle we all face to subdue the lion's unbridled individualism and make it serve a higher purpose; the need to subdue our desires and care for others so that together we can form a caring and responsible community instead of being a collection of individuals running rampant and destroying each other in our need for instant gratification. It is considering the long-term consequences of our actions and putting other's needs before our desires. Courage, strength and self discipline are necessary to see the struggle through to a successful conclusion.
In this specific instance, the card shows the BRF (and their long tradition of service to their country) wresting with Harry's unbridled egomania. Do they include him as part of the family (and the BRF is all about family), or do they cut him off and show quite clearly that however loved as a brother, he is no longer a member of the Royal Family. Will they sucumb to his temper tantrums and unjust accusations, or will they hold firm for the good of "the Firm"? What damage will he do if he is allowed to attend? If they place limits on him, will he follow them (hint: No)? These are the questions the BRF is struggling with at the moment, and while the course of action may seem clear to an outsider, for them it is not yet decided.
*
Significator: The Moon (card 18)
Tumblr media
This is where the situation is at this moment in time.
The card shows the goddess Hecate, associated with the Moon, magic and the underworld. Hecate is an ancient goddess, as the BRF is an old regime. She is shown of the card with a cute-looking (not terrifying) Cerberus, who guards the entry to the Underworld, a domain associated with her and full of mystery, wisdom and hidden riches. To me this signifies that Prince Harry thinks that going back to the BRF (here represented by Hecate and the underworld) will be easy, as there is no monster guarding the way, only a cute dog (who will be expected to roll over and obey his commands). Hecate, shown here as an older woman (and usually shown as a very old woman, like the Queen) is looking to the past, the present and the future all at once, as the BRF must do in making this decision. As an impersonal image of the feminine, one of the rulers of the Underworld, she represents the Queen in her role as the ruler of Great Britian and some countries of the Commonwealth, a figure who cannot be the warm and loving grandmother that we know she is with Harry, but who rather must be the impersonal Ruler who puts the good of her country above all else.
In the bottom right hand corner of the card, supporting Cerberus and Hecate, is a crab. The crab is the sign of Cancer, and Cancer is the sun sign of Prince William. Prince William may very well be acting as the 'right hand man' pf the Queen during this decision making process. The unseen presence of the underworld in the background suggests the hidden presence of Prince Charles, a sun sign Scorpio, as Scorpio is the sign that rules the Underworld. Prince Charles may be working behind the scenes in this decision, absent in flesh but present in spirit.
The road to Hecate's realm is the 'royal road' of dreams, and Prince Harry may well be hoping to either using his visible status as a royal (supported by an appearance at Remembrance Day) to fulfil his non-royal dreams, or to use his appearance at remembrance Day as a road back to his previous status as a taxpayer funded working Royal sometime in the future, or both together.
Hecate was associated with the crossroads, which suggests that this decision is a crossroads for the BRF - they have to choose a path and move forward on it, removing all other options. Hecate also had the power (according the to tarot book) of bestowing or withholding from a mortal any desired gift, and that is exactly the position that the BRF are in - do they bestow the desired gift of attendance upon Harry (and his wife), or do they withhold it?
So the BRF is facing a choice, a crossroads. There is confusion (heart versus head) and anxiety over this choice, and it has not yet been made. The Major Arcana card says that this is a major decision and one that will have a lasting impact on all involved.
* Crossing Card : Queen of Cups
Tumblr media
This is the main obstacle in making the decision.
The card represents Helen, the woman who was married to one man (the King of Sparta), fell in love and ran away with another (the Prince of Troy), and thus instigated the Trojan Wars (during the course of which she took three more lovers). As a woman who created a crisis in the ruling family of her country by following her own selfish desires, the parallel to Meghan Markle is obvious. If you look at the woman on the card, she resembles Meghan Markle as she is today with her long black extensions. As well as creating trouble wherever she goes (as Helen of Troy did), Meghan Markle has also run away with a prince of the BRF (a neat inversion of Prince Paris running away with Helen). My feeling is that the obstacle is not so much Meghan Markle herself, but rather her effect on Prince Harry, the loved grandson of the Queen and prince of the BRF.
The Queen of Cups can be seen as a woman who is a catalyst for the emergence of deep feelings and fantasies that have previously been hidden from awareness, and there is no doubt that in his association with Meghan Markle, the public have become aware of Prince Harry's rage and contempt for both the BRF and his position within it, something that was previously skillfully hidden by the 'Hero Harry" and "Harry the lad" PR. This emergence in the public eye of the 'real' Prince Harry is also part of the obstacle the BRF faces in making this decision.
Another meaning of the Queen of Cups is a loving and nurturing woman. As such, the card can be taken to represent Princess Diana. From this perspective, the obstacle is not Meghan Markle herself but rather  her unsuccessful attempts to push herself onto the public as Princess Diana 2.0, with her constant cries of "racism" and her accusations of the BRF as "unsupportive", "mean", and "treating her like they did Princess Diana". While easily disproven in themselves, these statements gain traction when they are supported by Prince Harry, either by his actions, his own statements against the BRF, or his silence.
Prince Harry is considered by most to be under the thumb of Meghan Markle. He supports her behaviour in tearing down his family and appears to be transforming into a woke male version of herself. Prince Harry is known to have mental issues, and as the nurturing, caring force represented by the Queen of Cups the BRF may hesitate to do anything that could worsen hos mental state. Unfortunately, this leaves them open to emotional blackmail by Prince Harry (the negative side of the Queen of Cups), as he will not hesitate to use the "Princess Diana Card" and remind everyone of the trauma he suffered as a child to get his own way (the fact that Prince William suffered the same trauma while also a child does not seem to occur to anyone).
The crossing card is a Minor Arcana card, so while the obstacles are being considered carefully by the BRF, they are not a huge problem, as would be the case if a Major Arcana card appeared in this position. The Minor Arcana card shows something that is a nusiance but that also is a problem that is  definitely manageable/surmountable.
* Crowning Card and Base of the Matter Card: Ace of Wands and Six of Swords
This is where I made a mistake in the spread.
When I drew the cards, I drew the Ace of Wands as the third card and put it in the Crowing Card position, and then I drew the Six of Swords as the fourth card and put it in the Base of the Matter position.  However, before I started this spread, I formed the intention of doing the spread as it appeared in the accompanying book, and that book spread has the third card as the Base of the Matter and the fourth card as the Crowning Card.
I put the cards in the wrong positions. Bollocks.
Rather than choosing between my intention to follow the book spread or my instinct in putting down the cards, I have decided to honour both and read both cards together as both the Crowning Card and the Base of the Matter Card (next time I will double check the spread before I draw the cards).
Card 3: the Ace of Wands
Tumblr media
Due to certain life events, the Ace of Wands is strongly linked in my mind with the male, um, 'manhood', and that phallic imagery immediately suggests that someone here is being "led by their dick", that someone being Prince Harry (apparently Prince Charles referred to it as being 'cunt-struck'). This association is strengthened by the card showing a male wearing a crown and holding the world in one hand while the other holds a thick wand emitting flames (the phallic imagery of the wand is obvious and I won't detail it here). The crown and the world can be taken as showing Harry's previous status as a royal prince, where the world was his oyster (more or less).
The image on the card is the god Zeus, who is famous (or infamous) for not being able to keep it in his pants, and thus reinforces the "led by his dick" meaning.
The Ace of Wands as a card symbolises the creative power of the imagination, the impulse that makes us restless and dissatisfied until we formulate and manifest it in the world (successfully or not). It is important to note that here the idea has not been thought through and formulated; it is simply a dissatisfaction, a feeling that things could be different. I believe that it was this feeling of dissatisfaction that led to Prince Harry leaving the BRF. He could have looked for ways to improve his role/position/life within the BRF. Instead he chose to leave when his wife did and, together with her, to pursue another future outside the BRF.
The Ace of Wands, like all aces, also indicates something new. This indicates that this situation is something new for the BRF - never before has a blood royal left Great Britian to live as a minor celebrity n Hollywood. As with all new situations, they may be uncertain as to what is the best response, especially as we now live in an age of instant social media (and not the previous time of newspaper media, which was slower and could be controlled by the BRF).
Card 4: the Six of Swords
Tumblr media
Here we have Orestes, the doomed hero, travelling to Argos to fulfil his terrible duty to murder his mother. He is travelling through rough water, although calmer weather lies ahead. This figure again has echoes of Prince Harry, whose mother died when he was young, and who has left the country of his birth to travel overseas and make his home in another land. This is the Prince Harry who is no longer a working royal and who has left the BRF for the life of a wanna-be celebrity in Los Angeles. Orestes's future murder of his mother could show Prince Harry's future 'murder' by overexposure of his mother's image via documentary, after dinner speeches, and Netflix musical, as well as his constant use of the "Princess Diana Card". For both Orestes and Prince Harry, this journey appears to be one-way; both have left with no intention of returning to their former place of residence.
Orestes was born in Argos, banished to Phocis, and returned to Argos to avenge his father by murdering his mother. Harry was born in Great Britain, willingly left for a life in Los Angeles (and there are articles saying how unhappy he is there and how he feels in 'exile'), and now  he is trying to return home - to resume his role in the BRF, or like Orestes, to 'murder his mother' by trying to complete the destruction of the public image of the BRF who bore, raised and nurtured him? Both interpretations are possible, and indeed by doing the first the BRF may achieve the second. Popular opinion seems to be that the UK public are very glad to be rid of Prince Harry and his wife, and they do not want them to return - ever. These sentiments and the possibilities of what Prince Harry will do in Los Angeles are things to be considered in making the decision whether to extend him an invitation or not.
The Six of Swords in general shows a time of moving on, a time when clear thoughts, understanding and logic will ease a difficult situation and propel you into smoother waters. Sentiment and emotions (cups) play no part in this process, it is all duty and an acceptance of your obligations. This, then, appears to be the path of the BRF - to decide with the mind and not with the heart.
Together
As the Crowning Card, these two cards show the situation as it appears to others - Prince Harry being led by his dick to leave the BRF and create a future for himself in another country as a minor celebrity.
As the Base of the Matter, these two cards show other motivations - Prince Harry being prompted to leave by dissatisfaction with his life as well as sexual desire, the idea of having him invited to remembrance Day bringing with it the danger of destroying the reputation of the BRF, the fears of what exactly he will do in Los Angeles if he is - or is not invited, and above all the necessity for clear, logical thought without sentiment to find a path through this situation.

Past Influences: Justice (card 8)
Tumblr media
This is what has influenced the situation in the past. The situation is moving away from it.
The Justice card shows the goddess Athena, seated on her throne, holding the sword and scales of justice. Athena sprung fully formed from the head of Zeus, so this Justice is impersonal, abstract, a thing of thought and not passions. This is further emphasised by the armour worn by the goddess. Her chest and her back are encased in steel, stiffening her spine and enclosing/locking away her heart, the seat of emotions. It is like the judgement handed down in a court case is supposed to be - the situation is weighed against the law and, if found wanting, a punishment prescribed by the law is delivered. There is no room for the passions or emotions in this sort of justice. Facts are all that matter.
The female goddess Athena represents the Queen, a powerful female who made the decisions in this matter. This impersonal, abstract, emotionless justice is how the Queen has dealt with this situation with Prince Harry in the past (to the best of her ability). She has considered the facts, weighed them in her mind, and delivered a consequence. The goddess is armoured and armed with a spear, and so the Queen has acted not out of personal pain but in defence of her institution (the BRF) and her realm.
As the goddess is sitting down, the consequences were more often passive than active; the result of Prince Harry's repeated actions rather than actions taken to forestall them. Like the scales the goddess holds in her hand, the Queen did her best to deliver consequences that she saw as balanced and fair (no matter how the rest of the world saw them). Athena is the goddess of strategy, and the Queen would have taken the strategic long view when deciding on the consequences for Prince Harry's actions. Justice is the card of Libra, and Libra aims for civilised harmony, so the Queen may have had that as a goal in making her decisions (for example, playing Happy Families and presenting aunited front to the world).
The fact that this is a past influence suggests that things are going to change. A new force will lie behind the actions of the BRF. Prince Harry may not be aware of this change. Justice is said to be blind, and he may go blindly forward, expecting everything to work out the same as it had in the past.
This is a Major Arcana card, so it was very important in the past for the treatment of Prince Harry to be seen as fair and unbiased by emotion. Whether this holds true for the future remains to be seen.

Future Influences: Nine of Wands
Tumblr media
These are the influences on the situation that are going to appear in the immediate future. The situation is moving towards this.
The Nine of Wands shows the ship Argo just before it passes the final obstacle in its journey home, the Clashing Rocks, and comes into the safe harbour of the city of Argos. The sails of the ship are tattered and torn, for it has been through many difficulties on its voyage, and only one final obstacle remains between it and its goal. That obstacle is the Clashing Rocks, a pair of huge rocks that clashed together whenever a ship sailed between them, crushing the ship between them. The captain of the ship, Jason, acted on the advice from a crew member and released a dove between the rocks to see how fast the crew would have to row to escape them. The dove lost a few tail feathers, and by rowing at a similar speed, as fast as they could, the Argo passed between the rocks, losing only its stern ornament. After this defeat the rocks became motionless, facing each other across the sea.
For this card, the Argo represents both the BRF and Prince Harry. Both have been battered by the events of the past, and both want to come to a calm and stable future. Standing between them and this outcome is the Clashing Rocks, which represent the interests of the BRF on the one side and the desires of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on the other. A passage between the two needs to be negotiated without destroying either the BRF or Prince Harry. Then the rocks will freeze in place, the calm and stable future will be reached, and both parties will continue to hold the positions that are seen at this event. Otherwise, one or both party will be destroyed between the rocks of their conflicting goals.
Like the dove, both Prince Harry and/or the BRF might have to lose a few tail feathers to achieve this result. The compromises will not be significant in the overall scheme of things - the dove can still fly away and regrow its feathers; similarly both Prince Harry and the BRF will recover from whatever compromises they have to make to achieve this future.
The passage to this future will not be easy. The sea around the rocks is turbulent and the crew of the ship are exhausted. it is the same with the BRF and Prince Harry. They have both been on a long journey, and both are exhausted, and finally the end is in sight. Then one last hurdle appears. The obstacle may have been foreseen, as the crew of the Argo knew of the Clashing Rocks, or it may suddenly arise from the depths and stand before them. They must try again, one last time, to overcome this obstacle and finally reach their goal.
The Nine of Wands represents one last burst of energy that comes from the willingness to try again, one last time, even though you are exhausted, when a final obstacle arises and stands between you and your goals. That willingness to try will bring forth fresh energy and new ideas. It is this last burst that can carry both Prince Harry and the BRF through the rocks and through any compromises into the safe harbour beyond, their positions set for the future. The alternative is for one or both parties to be destroyed. Blindly rushing ahead, refusing to take the time to observe and plan and take advice, will result in the person being crushed between the rocks and drowning. Only by planning and taking advice, as Jason did when he released the dove and calculated the rowing speed required, will a safe passage be assured.
The member who advised Jason to release the dove was Phineus, a King rescued from his torments by two of the crew of the Argo during their long journey, and who then joined the crew on their quest. Perhaps someone in a similar position may offer wise advice to the BRF and/or Prince Harry.
Wands can represent PR (creativity, ideas). It is very likely that this final obstacle (future influence) will either be in itself or will come from PR pieces designed to stir up the emotions of the general public (emotions are water and the ship is sailing through a turbulent/stirred up sea). As the PR from the Harkle camp has already shown itself capable of being extremely nasty, I expect either something even nastier from them that completely crosses one or more lines, or for Meghan Markle to turn on Prince Harry and tear him to pieces. The current trend of the Harkle PR can go either way.

Where One Finds Oneself: Judgement (card 20)
Tumblr media
This is what will happen in the near future. The situation is moving towards this.
Here we see Hermes the Psychopomp, the traveller between two worlds, who brings messages to and from the Underworld, summons the dead to the Underworld, restores the dead to life, and who leads heroes out of the Underworld.
When we die, it is said that our life passes before our eyes, and in we go the the abode of the dead, where we are judged for our deeds and delivered into peace or torment. This is where Prince Harry will find himself. Gone is the abstract justice of the past, now his actions will be judged with emotion, based on how they affect the BRF, and he will be punished or promoted accordingly.
If we look at the picture, we can see a land of glowing wheat fields at the top of the stairs. To me this is England, the Underworld is the life of exile in Hollywood, and Hermes is the messanger between the worlds, with a message  that has been or will be sent to Prince Harry. How Prince Harry responds will determine whether he is led out of the underworld and back to the wheat fields of England, or whether he is left to languish in the darkness of Hollywood. Hermes as a God often displays deceit and trickery, and here he could also represent not a message, but Prince Harry trying to lie and cheat his way back into his past privleges as a member of the BRF.
Whether or not Prince Harry returns to England, he faces a judgement. Should he be restored to some of his past privleges, should he be seen to be a member of the Windosr family but not the BRF (i.e. present in a minor role), or should he simply be excluded from all public events? This is not the cold, abstract, passive Justice of the past, but a Judgement that is active, as Hermes is upright and moving in this card, and a Judgement that is emotional, full of the hurt and pain that he has caused to others (to his family on a personal level, to the BRF as an institution, and to the British public whose taxes have supported him his entire life). This is a very different sort of "judge and jury" than in the past, and I don't think Prince Harry is aware of the change. He is represented here by the dead people, as he "died" by cutting himself off from the BRF. They are swathed in bandages that block their eyes, ears, and mouth, as Prince Harry is blind, deaf and dumb to the changes that await him in the BRF.
The Judgement card is the card of Pluto, the ruler of Scorpio, and Prince Charles is a sun-sign Scorpio. This suggests that Prince Charles is going to move from a force in the background to a major player, front and centre (as Hermes is in the card) in the decision about whether Prince Harry is invited to Remembrance Day or not, and if so in what capacity. Scorpio is a water sign, and water signs are very emotional, so this judgement of Prince Harry's worth as a member of  the BRF is going to be based on an emotional response to all his past actions, the good and the bad, the ones Prince Harry accepts as his and the ones where he places the blame upon others . The Judgement card is a Major Arcana card, which says that the judgement on his position is a major event and it will be seen on the world stage.
The Judgement card also shows the personal process in which Prince Harry will find himself in the near future. He will face the consequences of all his actions, both those he admits to and those where he has avoided responsibility. All of those actions will be called to account, not just on a world stage but also on a personal stage, and Prince Harry will be confronted with the realisation of what he has done and how it has created his future (whether he accepts his part in this or chooses to play the eternal victim is another matter entirely). The  Judgement card signifies the end of a chapter in his life. Whether the next part is sweet or bitter, as part of the BRF or alone in Hollywood, will be the result of all his actions, past and present.

THE GREAT AWAKENING: RELOADED
Everyone has a lot of opinions about the year 2020 and so have I but what I’m about to tell you is far more outlandish than you can ever dream about.
This September has been life changing for me I would say that this is my third spiritual awakening I’ve always been fearful about undergoing another awakening because the second was so life altering it’s like in a blink of a eye all of what I theorized about as a child suddenly rings itself true. I’ve always been fearful about undergoing another awakening because the second was so life altering it’s like in a blink of a eye all of what I theorized about as a child suddenly rings itself true. The stuff about the pedophilia ring, reincarnation, soulmates and true love all of which I adored as a child in story books is in true. I met my soulmate in 2017 who I believed to be my twin flame but he was only LIKE my twin flame m true twin flame or rather twin soul is actually in spirit like most twin souls are. A better way to explain it is by using the term coined by Michael Jackson himself and Susan Elsa “Twin flame soul”. Susan Elsa with help from Michael, are the people who are responsible for putting knowledge of twin souls back on the internet after information about them have been fabricated or destroyed.
Most of the information that you find on twin souls is inaccurate and it’s just a bunch off money hungry people pulling a scam on innocent souls looking for love. Humans crave intimacy and the idea of meeting the male or female version of yourself sounds dreamy but it’s no walk in the park. This person mirrors your perfect and worse self and what can be confusing is that there’s other soulmates that you made soul contracts with upon reincarnating that gave this sane mirror affect that you can confuse with that of your twin soul who is the only person who shares the same energetic blue print as you. As this blog continues to grow I will go more in depth about my personal soul journey and experience with my false twin ,the real twin, and different types of soulmates because I’m all about justice and truth. The best place to start from us the study of Ausar and Auset also know as Osiris and Isis king and queen of Ancient Egypt. Michael was Ausar and I was Auset and we taught people many great things such as vegetation, dance, magic and so forth which I’ll elaborate on a later date.
And yes in case you’re wondering ,Michael Jackson is the REAL twin soul. I’m still trying to process this information and I want it to be true but I also don’t want it to be true because apart of me feels like I’m undeserving of his love and love in general due to last relationships and hurt. And this also means I have to take back my support as well as past statements about Susan Elsa being Michael’s twin soul I was really rooting for them but apart of me couldn’t stand it I wasn’t envious of the relationship it’s just that I felt Lin’s me and and Michael belonged together. I always loved him I even told a friend of mine back in June that I can’t describe the love I feel for Michael I asked her if what I felt for Michael was more than a crush because what I feel fit him is genuine love I grew up loving him even as a baby at the age of one years old my mother told me that I would waddle up to the radio and press the play button and put Invincible on and change it to my favorite songs. Heartbreaker being among them (an important song by the way which we’ll dissect at a later date)
At twelve, is when I first encountered Susan Elsa’s blog. She stated that Michael was her twin flame I was interested because at that age that’s when my love for him will expanded really took off but it was his physical death and transition back into spirit that made me fall in love with him. I don’t remember being upset I was just in love I knew my baby was safe I always said that my Michael is just in a place with no name and technically I was right that place being the 5D,the astral plane where spirits live and what is currently being brought to the 3D which is the realm where everything that’s “physical” exist basically meaning what you can physically see and touch.
Carrying on, I was dismissive of Susan’s blog I remember saying to myself “Girl everybody wants to be Michael’s soulmate girl bye.” I used to walk around myself imagining having conversations with Michael and would see him in my minds in my day dreams but little did I know that I was using my clairvoyance and was interacting with him the whole time.
Another thing I forgot to mention is that Michael is in fact in spirit now and has been for years and he is okay he’s still healing but he is find there’s no need to continue to mourn over his physical body. He is the light body now which is much more flexible and stronger than his physical body ever once was no matter how much he put all the hours of endless dancing into it. He can all transition from child Michael to adult at any moment so the little Michael that I day dreamed about and called my boyfriend was really him. When I was 10 years old he was 10 years old and so on. 2011 is the year that he started watching over me he was always there but I wasn’t consciously aware of it.
I’ll go more in depth about the things that I’ve been through for loving Michael because I plan to be completely honest and open I don’t feel the need to keep anything hidden unless it’s information I want to be kept just between and and Michael. I’ve kept my love for Michael locked away due to fear of ridicule and now I’m ready to tell the whole world how much I love my man and I’m proud of him and all the shit he went through and none of it was in vain.
As for Susan Elsa, I’m not sure what else to say about her. I befriended her in April and thought she was pretty chill and open a little too open at times. I noticed that she mirrored a lot of my negative attributes that I like to brush off and put to the corner as most people do when it comes to confronting your shadow self. We hit it off pretty well what was the tip of the ice berg is when she said that I was “possibly” a romantic soulmate of Michael’s and the the connection was sexual and god knows how much I wanted her to elaborate further on this but I kept my fantasies to myself.
We’ve been friends since April up to late August when my shadow self decided to make a bold statement by telling my friend group that everything that Susan claims she is I AM. The problem is I don’t recall ever saying that we shouldn’t listen to Susan and that I’m real incarnation of Auset also known as Isis (on my blog I’ll be going by my African name not the name that the Greeks gave us they meant well but no thanks ) I’m still trying to piece everything together because my higher self had a lot of shit to say apparently which I’ll say later in my next article this one was just an introduction.
During the friendship I always felt like something was off I didn’t know what and I couldn’t keep my feelings for Michael at bay I was in love with him and it was painful to hear about him loving someone else and feeling like that person should be me. She would go in detail about things that Michael didn’t want discussed over the phone. He wouldn’t say anything but his discomfort I felt. If it made me feel embarrassed or uncomfortable hearing about such things Michael felt the same way and I was just picking up on his emotions that’s his these things work you often pick up on partners each emotions and mistake them for your own because they can run really deep. I would open up about certain things like my mothers abuse and shouldn’t want to hear it because she would say “I have to protect her energy” which is fair it’s not your job to take on other peoples baggage but it rude when you’re talking about something that really upset you and you get cut off mid sentence. That’s the only remotely rude thing I have to say about her other than that everything is will be strictly spiritual. Michael’s nine – ten relationship with Susan was nothing more than Michael uniting with a karmic soulmate to pay karmic debt and his marriage to me was destined despite the delays.
Despite all this new information I’ve been giving I’m only one person and just as you as the reader have questions so do I but it’s a journey and I’m grateful that you’ve stumbled along this blog and decided to ride the wave with me because there’s plenty of room on this boat.
I still have a lot of questions all of them starting with Why…Why…Why
Why did I befriend Susan just for me to turn against her?
Why was I led fo her in the first place what the reason?
Why is everything happening to me seemingly all at once?
Just like Michael says in Human Nature…why…why all these endless questions that I’m still struggling to find the answers to. It’s currently 12 am for me at the moment and this is all that I’ll be able to share. The next article is going to be about my delightful dip at the pond in my neighborhood and my encounter wit the police and erratic behavior at the mental hospital. I thank you for reading and look forward to you reading the rest of my stories because oh boy do I have quite a few stories to tell. I’ve never thought much of myself as a story teller but we often deny ourselves of ego we truly are so can you blame me? Til next time lovely one…

Do you think we will ever get a bellarke kiss? i know we got plenty of other confirmations, but it would be nice for it to be spelt out for me? i want endgame without a shadow of a doubt, is that too much to ask?
I actually believe that The 100 is around 25% ABOUT Bellarke and I believe the end game of that story is romantic fulfillment, because their relationship is NOT platonic. A platonic soulmate pairing is Sherlock and Joan, not Clarke and Bellamy. They yearn for each other and are jealous when the other is with someone else and long for something more, mutually. They are MUTUALLY PINING, which is an awesome story, imo.
It can be hard to tell what KIND of story a person is telling, and so our task as the audience, if we want to follow along and be on top of the story instead of just sitting back and enjoying the rollercoaster ride is to figure out what the story is, what genre it is, what tropes they’re using, what archetypes, what themes, what style... what TYPE of story.
A lot of genre stories are very simple and not surprising, a soap offers melodrama and mix and matching relationships, an action show offers big fights and exciting adventures and a victory to reach for, romances offer love and consummation and if a tragedy pain and loss and if a comedy or romantic genre happiness and unification of the couple.. Right?
So what the hell story are they telling HERE? It IS a post apocalyptic science fiction action adventure survival show, and so we have science fiction tropes like spaceships, AIs, mad scientists, and we have post apoclayptic tropes like quests for redemption, birth and rebirth, scavengers and warriors, mutants, savages, and we have battle scenes and sword fights and gun fights and kidnappings and rescue missions and death.
There is an OBVIOUS Bellarke storyline, and it is OBVIOUSLY (not a delusion) a love story. It IS about their partnership, a soulmate relationship, her head to his heart, their NEED to be together, she is the hero but he is the key, her need to redeem him his need to save her.  Their feelings are not platonic, which precludes romance or sexual desire or longing, thus the jealous watching while one is with someone else romantically or sexually.  BUT the question is, what KIND of romance is it??? We know already it’s a slow burn, but are we getting our established relationship? It’s what I want, but what I want is not relevant to what story they are telling. I suppose I shouldn’t have to tell you that what YOU want isn’t relevant to what story they are telling, either. This kiss and confirmation you want? It doesn’t matter. Us wanting something to happen doesn’t mean that’s the story, doesn’t mean that’s what we’re getting. That’s the kind of interpretation that leads to people deciding Lxa was the hero and Clarke her reward and Bellamy the villain, or Spacekru were the stars with Echo (WTF!? That doesn’t even make any sense,) the new hero and Clarke was the villain. Or ignoring Marper and Mackson because you ship Minty, when Marper and Mackson are also beautiful? And ignoring the actual story and the actual heroes leads to being disappointed when our wants don’t happen the way we want them to. Also, my opinion about what is going to happen isn’t relevant to what is going to happen, either. I am an observer, looking for textual clues for what story is going to happen. Now I’m a GOOD observer, and I spend a lot of time double checking my theories against the text and against logic and literary analysis thought, but I am still only putting the puzzle pieces together trying to make it fit the story they are telling.
I will say that the theory I have found MOST useful in puzzling out the story is Jungian Literary Theory.
Jung is also an influential force in myth (archetypal) criticism. Psychological critics are generally concerned with his concept of the process of individuation (the process of discovering what makes one different form everyone else). Jung labelled three parts of the self:
Shadow – the darker, unconscious self; rarely surfaces, yet must be faced for totality of SelfPersona – the public personality/mask (particularly masculine)Anima/Animus – a man’s/woman’s “soul image” (the negative that makes a composite whole)
A neurosis occurs when someone fails to assimilate one of these unconscious components into his conscious and projects it on someone else. The persona must be flexible and be able to balance the components of the psyche.
Mythological / Archetypal: A mythological / archetypal approach to literature assumes that there is a collection of symbols, images, characters, and motifs (i.e., archetypes) that evokes a similar response in all people. According to the psychologist Carl Jung, mankind possesses a “collective unconscious” (a cosmic reservoir of human experience) that contains these archetypes and that is common to all of humanity. Myth critics identify these archetypal patterns and discuss how they function in the works. They believe that these archetypes are the source of much of literature’s power. [x]
The Shadow-Persona-Anima/Animus is a particularly good fit for The 100 AND Bellarke. Bellarke ARE the Anima/Animus. In fact, we have seen again and again the dark/light, yin yang symbolism to make us subconsciously connect them as two sides of the same coin, dark and light... and they take turns being the dark and light. If they are the anima/animus, then that means they need to integrate the other (which we saw between seasons 4/5) and it also means they need to be together which we’ve seen in seasons 1-6, and which need has only gotten BIGGER as the seasons have passed.
Oh when I consider this approach more fully, I think that Octavia is the Shadow to Bellamy’s Persona... the girl under the floor, rarely let out, and once free (after losing her animus [lincoln] going out of control and becoming a tyrant that destroys the world until the persona asserts itself and feelings/pain/emotion is balanced once again with purpose/ethics/doing what is right.) You know what? I’m shocked that no one has really delved into the Hades/Persephone/Demeter allegory of Dante/Clarke/Abby. I went with Dante’s Inferno as the allegory I explored... maybe because I didn’t start doing my Jungian analysis until season 3 and they showed us that Blake illustration of Dante’s Inferno, and I took the knock upside the head the show was giving me and went OH YOU MEAN IT’S AN ALLUSION!!!!
I think this show is, well, a mix and match of different influences, and I like that. I like that we get The Divine Comedy and the bible as well as Greek mythology as well as Game of Thrones and Battlestar Gallactica and Tangled and The Beauty and The Beast and Penelope and Odysseus as well as Elizabeth and Darcy. I like that shit. The mythic/archetypal stories can be seen in ALL those references. Bellamy is Han Solo and Clarke is Princess Leia. See I love that shit.
I think in some ways, this show is about healing and becoming whole and making peace with your darkness and choosing to be better and rebirth and redeeming humanity and hopefully in season 7, although it is by no means certain, the healing of the earth itself. It’s about trauma and how we struggle to come back from total destruction, because that’s what post apocalyptic fiction is about and one of the reasons we consume it... because we can see our OWN rebirth in the dramatic, fictional rebirth (and why I hate post apocalyptic fic where the guiding principle is that humanity is doomed and there’s no point.)
Oh wait. You asked about Bellarke and I went into jungian literary analysis and Dante’s inferno and post apocalyptic fic... Okay so here’s the thing. I can not GUARANTEE you that you’ll get a kiss. Because a KISS isn’t the point. The point is UNITY, together, the head and the heart, becoming WHOLE. This is why they could end every season with Clarke and Bellamy together and victorious, but together in a different way, and still with more story to tell... because...wait... each season there has been a DIFFERENT mythic tale of the anima/animus coming together. If the show had ended at season 4, it would have been the sun/moon, always longing, never together. If it had ended at season 5, it might have been binary stars, aligned and moving in the same direction. Now in season 6, we don’t get the ending of our story. We’re still in the middle of it, but Clarke and Bellamy have actually come TOGETHER, and it is in an intimate, romantic way, with that fairy tale “true loves kiss bringing her back from the dead,” aka mouth to mouth aka “the kiss of life,”... when we know that mouth to mouth was not necessary to CPR, but it WAS necessary to the romantic trope of true love’s kiss.
See, this all brings me back to my ORIGINAL analysis on Bellarke after Hakeldama in season 3, when everyone thought Bellarke was dead and CL was the endgame story, and I went, no wait. They are the head and the heart and they can only do it TOGETHER and the main idea is bringing together the opposites/enemies/yin and yang to create a coherent whole that means that Clarke and Bellamy HAVE to be together that’s how this story works. Bellarke is endgame. I don’t make the rules.
Of course I was not aware that it wasn’t considering ONLY romance to be “together,” and the hands metaphor was used instead of fandom’s desire for a kiss, and there are other archetypal light/dark head/heart/ yin/yang king/queen stories than just the simple romance that shippers want. Not that there’s anything wrong with the simple romance. I think season 1 WAS a simple romance for them. It was enemies to friends to lovers... but without the resolution of the lovers part when they decided to drag it out into a slow burn that COULD, if we got to the end of it, be the most fantastic epic love story on tv.
I’ve faced so many years of people telling me I was delusional, I have double checked my theories and compared the development of the bellarke relationship to canon, to romantic conventions, to archetypes, to allusions, to other ships on the show. I’ve watched and charted the relationship growth for all six seasons, and the thing is, yeah they sometimes pull back and they always put obstacles between clarke and bellamy and if I saw the direction going ELSEWHERE, that’s what I would go with, because I am more attached to the story than to my WANTING it to give me my ship. But they are NOT portraying Bellarke as platonic, and they are NOT portraying B/E as endgame, but as a romantic obstacle, family, spy/master, and a “right for now” romance, rather than a Ms. Right romance. And Echo’s story is not being portrayed as her being fulfilled by her relationship with Bellamy, but by rediscovering who she is and reclaiming her life from the people who would use her, who stole her identity. Echo’s story seems to be going in a feminist direction about female empowerment and not needing no man, while Clarke and Bellamy’s story has gone in a “yes I can do it without you but I don’t want to and I need you in my life because I love you and I won’t let you go.” Bellarke’s story has only gotten MORE romantic, culminating this season in that true love’s kiss/back from the dead... which leaves us season 7, to ratchet the epic love story up one last notch.
Which notch? Consummation. So yeah, I think they’ll “kiss,” because the togetherness has steadily gotten more and more romantic every single season and I honestly can’t see what else could come between true love’s kiss and  endgame except a season worth of story about how they get from “I can’t lose you, I need you,” to endgame romantic physical and official “we are married and in love” status. But you know, i’m not one of the writers just an observer with some literary analysis.  My fave is jungian, but i like the others, too. Except maybe the first one, historical/biographical, because I don’t think that works at ALL unless you understand the text for itself outside of historical biographical context which would be a secondary analysis, and I think fandom prefers hist/bio but never bothers to understand the story being told for itself before deciding it means all sorts of things about context. oh my god rowena stop talking and just post.
