this can be reaching a new high score on a came

beating their own records

or beating other people's scores

getting ahead in a competition, even if it wasnt a competition to begin with, beating that goal they set can give them a high

some might look for comfort media

listening to music or watching something they find comfort in

art or fanart they find comforting

all can help recover from a crash in a soothing way.

Perceive Me

people telling them how theyre perceived as an individual

especially if its in detail and can contain praise

knowing how one is perceived either by strangers or those theyre close with, can be someones supply

a narc supply can be anything, ranging from anonymous hate to being told someone's proud of you, to being given a little affection and even something akin to being worshiped or feared and it can be more than one of these at a time.

I am convinced that, objectively, I am better than the vast majority of people I interact with, especially in the academic field. No matter how hard I try, there is no one who can compare to me. I'm questioning having NPD. I've done some research into what a narc crash is, but I'm having difficulty grasping the concept. Would you mind telling me what it means to you?

Well for me narc crashes really fucking suck. Usually they come after narc highs (times when your ego and self esteem are very high) when something happens to make you realize you aren't perfect.

During narc crashes, your ego drops to nothing and your self esteem is down in hell. For me, I also tend to loose my sense of self. It can be kinda similar to a depressive episode. Some might self harm, attempt/consider suicide, or other stuff like that.

Basically because you realize you aren't perfect you think you're a worthless, useless speck of dust.

If you have other stuff going on like BPD, bipolar disorder, and/or depression it can be hard to tell what exactly is causing it. The main distinct factor of narc crashes is that they usually come after narc highs, but that isn't even always the case.

fellow narcs i have a question

what is your narc supply? what things give you a narc high?

it would be great if i could compile a list to better help people understand what a narc supply is and what a narc high is like.

i know people tend to misinterpret it as an emotional high, sometimes i myself even tend to misread my emotional highs as narc highs sometimes because of overlapping factors.

i mostly see compliments given as a narc supply, but generic compliments like "youre so cool", "i like your hair", "you did a good job" and so on dont exactly do it for me because my bpd automatically reads them as disingenuous at times. instead things like "youre so good at x i need advice from you", "i know you like x so i wanted to ask you", "you know/did xyz and thats so cool of you!" and so on seem to be more of a "narc supply" for me.

i'd love to hear from others what its like from them so i could make a list/post to help people supporting narcs understand what we need. /np /g
