bisexual attraction is inherently queer! yes, even if one of those modes of attraction "seems" inherently heterosexual. it's not! unless the individual chooses to label it as het, bisexual men being attracted to women is queer. bisexual women being attracted to men is queer. get used to it!

Fun facts with red because some people (specifically the pinterest peeps but I'll put this there another day) don't understand the mspec:
Bisexual just means attraction to 2+ genders. That can be 2 or all. Poly, pan, and omni people could fit under bisexual if they so desired and some do identify as polybi, bipan, omnibi, etc. However, bisexual sometimes has connotations of "men and women only" and also sometimes feels too nonspecific, so many poly/omni/pan people don't identify with bisexual even though they could technically count under it and that's valid. Some bi people also could reasonably fit under poly, pan, or omni but are more familiar with the bi label/like it more/are older and feel connected to it due to it being such a historical label and that's valid as well. Some people just identify as multisexual because they feel they aren't connected to any of the main 4 mspec labels, and some people identify with an obscure mspec microlabel because they don't even think bi/pan/poly/omni are specific enough. Some people use a multitude of mspec labels because of overlap
Mspec identity discourse should never be "here are the specific distinctions these 4 are completely different and never overlap" nor should it be "these are all essentially bi and just microlabels of bi" we can and should acknowledge that there's lots of overlap with them without invalidating the people who only identify with one. We can and should acknowledge that each label does have some differences without invalidating the people who identify with more than one.

How are folks gonna have some of the most shit on identities and still gonna find a way to shit on someone else's identity, like. I doubt it makes you feel better when you could be pissing on a terf's lawn instead of accidentally siding with them

i think the craziest part of slur discourse is that as someone who's been called a dyke and a faggot and a tranny and a queer and been told im filthy and perverted for it i think maybe i should get to call myself a filthy perverted dykefag tranny and say im queer. but if i said that around some people theyd say im actually being harmful by doing so. i think a lot of it loops back around into the idea that if you're not a ''perfect queer'' (aka a cis gay man, a cis lesbian woman, or a cis bisexual person, or actively hating on neopronouns, or actively hating on multispectrum identities) then conservatives won't take you seriously, but the unfortunate part of that is that conservatives don't take us seriously anyways. conservatives don't know the difference between a 13 year old neopronouns user and xer qpr polycule or a 40 year old gay man whos gone to pride parades his whole life and experienced homophobia when growing up, because to them we're all dirty queers who need to be shot in the streets for daring to promote our dangerous lifestyle to their children

mspec = liking more than one gender so every lesbian that also likes non binary people is also a mspec lesbian by definition. because nb people are their own genders and not just "woman lite" yes? unless youre implying theyre not... and youd neeeever be enbyphobic.... correct......? so every lesbian attracted to non binary people is attracted to more than 1 gender, therefore a multispectrum lesbian. peace and love! <3 everyone kill themselves now

(Please do not respond to this post if you don’t support any of what I discussed. Just block me.)
Ok, so I’m going to make a post about my abrospec questing because I’m trying to explore it but am having trouble figuring out what label fits me best. And, yes, I understand that I don’t have to use any specific label, I just want to look at what’s out there.
So, usually I feel like I’m on the multispectrum, and my romantic attraction is almost always mspec in some way, like bi, pan, poly or omni, or even just multiromantic, while my sexual attraction can fluctuate into the monospec spectrum as well, and sometimes I’m mostly sapphic or mostly achillean and have a connection to the terms lesbian and veldian. Usually I feel somewhere on the aroace and never feel fully alloromantic or allosexual. I also am fluid between aspec orientations, like demiaroace, repciroace, greyroace, cupiorose, and orchidrose.
My tertiary attractions are also usually aspec, except for my aesthetic attraction. I am very much alloaesthetic. My aesthetic attraction is actually stronger than most alloaesthetics tbh. Is there a label for really strong, queer aesthetic attraction, now that I’m mentioning it? My aesthetic attraction tends to fluctuate along with my sexual attraction but feels for on the pan-bi-omni spectrum. My other attractions tend to fluctuate between different aspec orientations, between pan and omni, and between sapphic and achillean.
My attraction can also fluctuate with my gender to be queer in some way, like nblm/mlm towards men or queer wlm towards men, nblnb, and nblm/wlw or queer mlw. I tend to feel same gender attraction though, but at times it does feel like queer different gender attraction. But, my attraction is always queer in some way.

Yeah and a flag guide that I'll provide but keep in mind it hasn't been updated in a while and I'll have a new one soon
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Term Definitions because I can. Some definitions are personal to me and not general definitions
Woman/Girl: A gender identity that is connected to femininity and the female sex
Cisgender: Someone who's gender identity is congruent with their AGAB
Cisconfusgender: A cis person who often is unsure of their gender but always comes to the conclusion they're cisgender. I didn't coin this term but I made the flag based on a description of it
Quoieuphoric: Someone who isn't sure what gender euphoria feels like or if they feel it. I coined this term myself!
She/her/hers/herself: Someone who would appreciate if you referred to her by she/her pronouns
They/them/their/theirs/themselves: Someone who would appreciate it if you referred to them by they/them pronouns
Femme: Someone who presents femininely
Aspec: Someone on the ace, aro, or other a-spectrum(s)
Arosespec: Someone who is on both the aro and ace spectrums
Acespec: Someone who is on the asexual spectrum
Arospec: Someone who is on the aromantic spectrums
Asexual: Someone who doesn't feel sexual attraction at all (personal use definition)
Cupiosexual: Someone who doesn't feel sexual attraction but still desires a sexual relationship
Demiromantic: Someone who experiences romantic attraction exclusively to people they have formed a strong emotional bond with
Cupioromantic: Someone who desires a romantic relationship even in the absence of romantic attraction (personal use definition)
Angled Aroace: Someone who is on both aro and ace spectrums but isn't fully ace, aro, or either
Lesbian: A feminine, neutrally, xenically, or unaligned person who is attracted, usually exclusively, to other feminine, neutrally, xenically, or unaligned genders. This is a definition I came up with that I think accomplishes what the nonmen definition attempted to describe and doesn't exclude multigender/multialigned people and acknowledges the common exclusive use of today but doesn't exclude historical use. (personal use definition)
Aurora Lesbian: An all inclusive alt flag. An aurora lesbian can be considered an all inclusive lesbian
Lunian: An mspec lesbian
Bi lesbian: Someone who's bi attraction is also simultaneously lesbian attraction because it's only towards people who are considered part of lesbian attraction (personal use definition)
Sapphic: WLW, doesn't have to be exclusive.
Midnight Sapphic: A sapphic who feels othered and ostracized from the greater sapphic community for their identity
Omni lesbian: Someone who is attracted to all genders considered part of lesbian attraction (personal use definition)
Bi lesbian with bi- as a modifier: Someone who primarily identifies as a lesbian, and sees being a bi lesbian as a subset of that lesbian attraction
Neptunic lesbian: A lesbian who is also neptunic
Closeted mspec lesbian: An mspec lesbian who is closeted about being an mspec lesbian in at least one aspect of their life
Acespec Mspec Lesbian (yeah apparently it's not just the acespec lesbian flag oops): An mspec lesbian who is acespec
Neptunic: Someone who is exclusively attracted to all non-masc genders
Bi: Someone who is attracted to multiple genders. Commonly used to mean not all genders and with gender as a factor, but because of its history, it can refer to any mspec attraction
Multi: Someone who is attracted to multiple genders. An umbrella term for bi/pan/poly/omni
Mspec: Someone who is on the multispectrum
Bi-Gay: Someone who considers their attraction bi and gay (gender neutral)
Stellian: Someone who considers their attraction mspec and gay (gender neutral)
LGBTQ: Someone who is not an allocishet
Autistic: I'm not yet diagnosed and I'm working on it but I believe I am on the autism spectrum/have autism spectrum disorder. You can use person first or identity first language I don't mind either.
Queer: Someone who reclaims Queer as an identity. Not all LGBTQ people will be queer, because we should acknowledge that is has been used to harm people and they may still have trauma with the word queer.
Inclusionist: Someone who includes all good faith identities and seeks understanding before calling something nonsense.
Lykoi Lesbian: A lesbian inclusionist group that passively fights exclusionism by being inclusive.

wait i'm sorry if this sounds dumb, but i tough an mspec lesbian was someone that identified as idk like (for example) transmasc but also as a lesbian lmao
Nah mspec means multispectrum as someone whose attracted to multiple genders. Exclus typically lump transmasc lesbians and mspec lesbians in the same group too so I can see the confusion. I still happen to be both so it's just like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I asked twice because the app crashed after asking the first time, I didn't know if it sent or not. That didn't really answer my question at all, why is lesbian it's own identity when how you describe it, non exclusive queer attraction to women, also exactly matches how bisexual and queer can be described. And why would anyone need to use bi lesbian if the lesbian identity is already non exclusive? But thanks for being polite anyway.
I don’t really know what to tell you? Because it is? That’s just kind of how language works? Labels and definitions come about the describe personal experience, not the other way around.
It’s like asking why there has to be any other sexuality label at all when we could all just use “gay” or “queer?” The reasons people don’t is because it doesn’t fit them best, they don’t like the term, or they want their own term. That’s just how it is.
“Bi” in many cases is an adjective modifying “lesbian” meaning “attracted to two or more genders” and is used to differentiate between multispectrum lesbians and monosexual lesbians. A lot of lesbian history is monosexual-centric, and you can see this especially within radfem circles but it has bled into a lot of younger queer spaces. As I said in my original thread, there are people who will include (mostly white, AFAB) non-binary people under a nebulous “non-binary” term within lesbianism, while denying that lesbianism can be an mspec identity. They believe you can be attracted to multiple genders as a lesbian, but you can’t acknowledge that you’re attracted to those genders as separate from binary women. And that? That’s biphobia. And exorsexism. And it’s rife within the lesbian community because of political lesbianism.
Tl;dr: So, I don’t really know how to answer your question the way you want. The labels exist, people use them because they want to. The labels exist because people wanted a label to describe their experiences and felt existing labels did not encompass that. Why do you call yourself lesbian at all when you could just use queer or gay? I don’t know, you tell me. I use lesbian because I am queerly attracted to women and because that’s the label I find most comfort with. Everyone uses labels they are most comfortable with, it’s how language works.
