Hi :) First of all, I love your writing and characterization! I'm waiting for your longer fics :)

I wanted to ask - what is your opinion on WWX's mental age in the future timeline? I read that MTMX said that he was in a repetitive dream, but he was aware of the time passed. Many people think that it means that he aged mentally the same as LWJ. But I feel like we're continuously shown how much LWJ has progressed while WWX stayed more or less the same as his younger self, only calmer.

If I imagine a cannon divergence where WWX is resurrected a short time after his death and then lives somewhere until the incident at Dafan mountain, I have trouble believing he would have acted the same. I mean, his behavior is a bit juvenile ... What do you think?

Hmm, there are layers to this. I think we all agree that experiences define us. Just the passing of time isn't enough for a person to grow and mature, they need to deal with different responsibilities, challenges, personal realizations, etc. If WWX was in a repetitive dream and still conscious of time passing, he wouldn't have aged at the same pace at LWJ. I think that is pretty clear. LWJ went through real-life experiences for 13 years. WWX was essentially in a coma.

Because he was somewhat aware, we can say he still experienced some mental growth. But I rather think he went through some sort of spiritual healing. What happened during the last two-three years of his first life was breathtakingly traumatic. We always say that WWX is resilient and tends to shrug of the worst because of his philosophy, but I can categorically tell you that's not possible. Stress and trauma cause damage. So much so that babies actually inherit stress and trauma from their parents.

The fact that we don't see much of it post-resurrection leads me to believe that he went through something very intensely therapeutic when he was in that limbo. He came out too settled for it to be anything less.

As for his maturity, a lot of his juvenile behavior was a front, a deliberate deception that was meant to distract. A lot of it is just his personality. When push comes to a shove, he's doesn't act juvenile at all. The entire Yi City arc is a clear example of this. WWX probably gets a lot of private amusement by just being carefree and open. Also, he has awoken from a 13-year absent state. He's processing a lot of things internally. I assume he would only settle into a true personality after a few months of things settling down.

Mind, some people also tend to act a bit childish when they are very comfortable or near a person they trust. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he continues to be so in LWJ's presence all his life.

I think WWX has matured but at a lower rate compared to his peers. But - but I still think he's on a similar level as LWJ.

There's one thing to keep in mind - WWX was ahead of the curve compared to his peers during and after the SSC. He was facing more strife, more hardship, more responsibilities, and more trials than LWJ certainly. He was making more mature decisions compared to JC (like by miles) and even had an edge over LXC. He certainly possessed a sharp-eyed clarity that others simply did not. He sensed JGS's powerplay and understood its implications. He kept the Seal with him because he know he may end up needing it as the world turned against him.

I think we saw LWJ's growth more clearly in comparison to WWX because he was actually playing catch-up. LWJ, despite his experiences with war, was the Second Jade of Lan, a sheltered and well-loved child of a big sect. WWX went from a street child, to a just partially-welcomed ward, to a cultivator without a sect or a golden core, to a man tortured and thrown into the burial mounds, to a war hero, to a pariah, to an persecuted enemy, to a lone protector--- so on.

This guy did all of his growing before died in his early twenties. It is actually natural for him to be more dismissive and care-free now, when all of that stress is far behind him. If he were alive and in hiding, his experiences during that time would shape him. I do believe he would've been a little different, but not significantly so, especially if he spent his life in some peaceful place just farming and charming villagers.

personally I really like 2ha - it has many many warnings deservedly attached to it, but it is a good story and also one of the horniest pieces of literature I’ve ever read. and the bottom often doesn’t seem very horny in danmei, so I appreciate it

Word of honor is based on faraway wanderers, and the author (priest) has written other ones also that have been very well received

if you’re looking to go for cute stories with less depth, ‘the disabled tyrants pet palm fish’ is about a guy who wakes up one day as a fish and the prince who spoils him. it’s got fish mpreg, if that’s a plus or minus for you.

if you’re looking for something not so light and neat and translated and gay relationship focused that doesn’t have to be m/m, clear and muddy loss of love is f/f and in the process of getting her revenge on the royal family who killed her people, she ends up married to the princess of the family she’s trying to take down.

I wish there were more people who thought of unique crossovers for fandoms that don't usually interact with each other like I want to see these characters interact with each other. For example:

Yugioh x Okami: yugi and the gang either time travel to the past during amaterasu's journey or amaterasu comes back into the modern times of Yugioh and helps the gang fight each villian up till the final season where she helps atem with zorc.

Any Mtmx work where they crossover with each other and bond because shenanigans: My personal headcanon is where all the main characters find out about each other's trauma and are willing to throw hands at the culprits responsible because they are friends now and friends help friends beat the shit out of gods/ghosts/demons/wen or jin cultivators who hurt them.

Aot and demon slayer: Mostly because the plots are kind of similar and I want the aot cast to be issekaied into a world where a happy ending is possible. Plus I want tanjiro and nezuko to bond with them and form more friendships.

Bleach x demon slayer: Again kinda of similar plots, but I really want to see a fic where either demons come back into existence and somehow gain spiritual powers and become more of a threat than either Aiden or the quinceys. Or Muzan retains his demon powers after his death gets sent to soul society and creates demon hollow hybrids that fed on both souls and living people and again become the biggest threat possible.

Bleach x Okami: There are a few fics of this crossover that exist but I would like to see a fic where Amaterasu helps in the fight against Aizen and helps Orihime become more powerful because surprise Orihime is a descendant of Amaterasu and can wield both divine instruments and celestial brush techniques. Plus Orihime would be adorable as a wolf and I don't want to hear any arguments against that.

Demon slayer x Okami: Amaterasu helps the demon slayer corps against Muzan and she helps Tanjiro grow more powerful. She is also the reason why yoriichi was so powerful because she blessed him. Maybe other okami villains make an appearance like orochi and ninetales.

Any Corpse party crossover: I love corpse party's setting, atmosphere, and characters and what better way to show that love with crossovers with characters from a different series suffering with our group of high school students. Bungou stray dogs x corpse party is excellent because atsushi is perfect for possessions, dazai could turn out to have some spiritual powers, chuuya could get severely injured, mori being killed by sachiko, etc. A bleach x corpse party fic could have the shimigamis powerless and vulnerable and that's always heart racing in a horror setting. Same with quincey and arrancars/espadas. Think of the possibilities.

Ori and the blind forest/will of the wisps x mxtx works: ori either gets reborn again or a descendant of ori gets sent into the mxtx verse and helps bring balance or purifies any threat in any mxtx world you want. Plus ori is adorable and needs more love.

Ori and the blind forest/ will of the wisps x ff7: Ori's homeland is called Nibelheim and ori and his family could easily become materia or spirits that help cloud and his gang out. Also the possibility of ori curing genesis, angeal, and sephiroth of jenova corruption because that's ori's main purpose, to purify and fight decay/corruption. This can lead to a lot of fix-it fics guys.

Ori and the blind forest/ will of the wisps x genshin impact: already made a post about this but I feel like people need to be reminded.

Star wars x demon slayer: Honestly I want to see the jedi react to demons and I want tanjiro and nezuko to be honorary skywalkers with Anakin bonding and learning with Tanjiro. Also the clones and demon slayer corps get along well because both organizations are willing to die for the cause they believe in. Also muzan and Palpatine teaming up only to be destroyed in the end.

That's all I can think of for now, but please spread this post because it might inspire creative crossovers people might not think of. Plus I love discussing crossover fanfiction with people because its interesting to think about how certain characters would interact with each other.

Feel free to take my ideas because I am not capable of writing fanfiction of my own, but if this does spread be sure to credit the people who came up with crossover prompts. Assuming this post gains enough traction.

So I’ve read all 3 MTMX novels now.

Honestly, I enjoyed all of them, but in terms of how much I like/love them, it’s probably

MDZS by a very, very wide margin

TGCF which isn’t a as much a favorite but is a very strong second

SVSS which I enjoyed okay.

But funnily enough, the two I’m read fixating on fic for are MDZS and SVSS while I have no real interest in TGCF fic.

I think it’s because TGCF seems really… complete? Like, it’s hard to imagine things playing out very differently because the plot seems very specific, and I don’t have many questions about post-canon. It feels like we have all the info we need and there’s not much that would change and still work well.

Whereas MDZS and SVSS both feel like they hold a lot of other potentials for stories in them, both post canon and AU. There’s more to wonder about there.

i saw a post on tumblr tht said that lwj mdzs is a homophobic "caricature" which is why they hate all adaptations of mdzs except cql. they wrote tht it was mostly due to all the gross fetishy scenes but even besides those parts did they not like lwj in mdzs. i understand not wanting to read mdzs due to those gross parts but they even hate the donghua which i dont get, since it follows the plot (which is better than cql imo) without any of the romance like cql. but im not asian so im asking you

for me personally i’m the kind of person that’s like as long as you think critically + are aware of any of the problems that’s up with the media you’re imbibing and you’re not blindly ignoring any of the more unsavory parts, it’s fine to like it? i personally don’t really watch anime/donghuas anymore so the donghua isn’t really what i’m into so i really have no idea what’s in it aoidjfosaj but any fans of the novel are fine with me as long as they don’t ignore mtmx’s homophobia odifjasoidas. i also do think animation might not be what people are into which is what leads to another reason why people might just not be into the donghua or aren’t willing to watch it regardless.
