So soulmates and Love at First sight are tropes that i've Seen a Lot of people deride for being Like shallow or unrealistic or amatonormative and i while i definitely don't disagree with that as a practitioner of the noble Art of aromancy myself i Just have to say i could Not give less of a Shit about any of that. I don't hate These tropes because they're problematic i hate them cause they're boring

#idk man #like with a romance subplot ideally i should be invested in their dynamic and i think why they love each other is an important part of that #doesn't even need to be much hell i'm a sucker for childhood friends dynamics but like #with love at first sight they love each other before there even is a dynamic so it boils down to they love each other just cause #and that is just so uninteresting to me #like at least give me just one scene of them actually bonding or have one fall for the other as they're kicking ass #i'm not even asking for much hers #soulmates imo just don't really add much #like if you really give a shit about romance i can see how the idea that there is someone out there for you can be reassuring #but in romance i don't really see the difference between loving each other because of fate and loving each other without fate to intervene #the only good soulmate romance is lloydven and that is only good because it leans into the parts of soulmates that are just messed up #like the codependency #i feel like your mileage with these tropes will vary depending on whether you find them romantic or not #i don't! #so they do nothing for me

In his head he and Falin would move back to the Eastern Archipelago and they'd see Laios twice a year tops. You can pretend to get along with in-laws you don't like for a few days a year, people do that all the time.

The actual flaw in his plan– which shows he doesn't really understand either of the Touden siblings– is the fact that if the plot hadn't happened and Falin had for some reason said yes to his proposal, Laios would have packed his bags and moved away with them instantly.

imagine you need to get away from the house and your responsibilities for a hot second and there's this bus driver/tour guide you meet and he invites you on a one-time big sightseeing trip (what the bus driver is telling himself. don't worry about that). and at first you think it's like a date and he's into you but this dries up maybe half a day in when the sightseeing goes wrong and he starts angsting about his dead girlfriend. anyway the trip gets extended and he's still the worst most disappointing tour guide in the world so you do the emotional equivalent of poking at him with a stick and asking what the hell is wrong with him. bus driver relents and reveals that his whole family is dead and he's been trying to avoid thinking about it by being a bus driver. you listen to him as he talks about how nice his town was before it exploded and you suddenly realize that the bus driver is furiously grieving/homesick/depressed and you're like the only thing stopping him from driving off a cliff and into the sea. especially bc the next day you run into the mafia and the bus driver starts screaming at them to kill him. then he hugs an electric fence. and then he tells you to take the bus keys and leave him and screams at the mafia to kill him again. and like this is so obviously horrific but what can you do besides stay with him on more sightseeing trips and hope you're doing enough to keep him alive. bc one of the responsibilities you ducked from was your job of saving people and this stupid fucking bus driver is a person in need of saving so bad. even if he starts shutting down when he manages to catch that you're directly onto how unstable he is. anyway, on an unrelated note, ten and martha from hit tv show doctor who,

I need codependent Danny/Jason as a little treat (for me) and I love the idea of them having some sort of instant connection the moment they meet (bc ghost stuff idk)

Danny who's been dropped in Gotham with no way home (alt universe??) and he's been here for 36 hours and having a Very bad time senses a liminal being and immediately latches onto them heedless of the fact that his new best friend is shooting at some seedy guys in an alley and goes off about how stressed he is and how he can't make it back to the ghost zone and what a bad day he's been having (and it's important to note Danny is a littol ghost boy literally hanging off of Jason's neck as he floats aimlessly) and Jason is like "who are you??" And Danny is like "oh sorry I'm Danny lol" and then just continues lamenting his woes

And honestly ? This might as well happen. Nothing about this Danny guy(is he human?) gives Jason a bad vibe and tbh he's never felt more calm and level headed before so he just keeps up his usual Red Hood patrol and doesn't even think about it when he heads back to a safehouse and feeds Danny dinner (breakfast) before crashing for half the day

The only thing I actually need is Jason meeting up with the bats for some sort of Intel meeting and they're like "uhhh who's that" and Jason is like "that's Danny." And does not elaborate (very ".... What do you have there?" "A smoothie" vibes)

And it takes them a while to realize that these two have known each other for less than 12 hours and are literally attached at the hip

Dp x dc twin au where Danny and Damian were in fact conjoined/siamese twins, but the most dangerous type - one head, two bodies.

Their early removal from talia being because their shape would not have allowed for natural birth, they were written off but talia begged for the chance to send them off in the lazarus pit.

By some bizarre miracle, before she turned to leave, two small bodies bobbed to the surface - identical in every way, except for the eyes. The previous blue eyes now split in two, one left, one right, and the new eyes, pit created, a bright green.

She took her child, her two children, and together, they survived.

Being removed prematurely, their early years were tough, but soon they blossomed into promising heirs for the league. In sync with every step, the closest of brothers, the league was certain the old fairy tale of twins being telepathic had been granted by the pit that separated them, the remnants of being born as one mind, one brain, one skull.

But then Danny had to flee, and leave his other half behind. Stretched by distance for the first time, the bond grew thin and stretched, and Damian grieved his brother as dead. When he started being sent on public missions, he hid his distinctive heterochromia, choosing the green in memory of the pit that had given him and his brother life.

Danny, hiding his pit aura in the ocean's worth that was Amity park, took to blue, the colour that he and Damian were born with.

Damian moves to Gotham, and continues to mourn his brother as dead, right until one day when he is twelve, when he learns what the death of your other half truly feels like.

Their reunion is a thing of family legend. Violence runs hot in both bloodlines, ghosts are highly emotional and prone to fighting a the drop of a hat for bonding, playing, testing, every reason under the green sun. Their training and play often consisted of friendly spars, competitive spars, furious spars, venting spars. Both have been exposed to unhealthy amounts of ecto since before their birth.

There is a long, long minute of staring, before they rip themselves away and lunge at each other like wolves.

The bat family are horrified by their brutally efficient youngest suddenly barreling towards a clone (?) and trying to claw his throat open with his bare hands while openly sobbing.

It ends with them wrapped around each other crying into the others shoulder as their minds finally meet again and relax from the painful stretch for the first time in years.

But nobody else has any idea what to do.
