In the Soundwave timeline, how's he gonna take over the world? He and Laserbeak have a groundbridge and some Cybertronian ship, but will that be enough to stop Optimus and Megatron from protecting humanity? Marley and Paradise are working well together so far, especially with Calvi out of the picture and Willy befriending Optimus, so they have a huge advantage over Soundwave.

Part 8: Willy and Lara feelings about Megatron

Soundwave still has Pieck, and I stated before that he will use the technology he's gathered along with using that technology to create a groundbridge (so he's going to be sending people into the Shadowzone), a ship of his own, and Lazerbeak.

But just for fun, I'll throw in Hizuru as Soundwave blackmailing the continent. (In this timeline, Hizuru and Paradis have not made contact.)

With Soundwave's expert spying, he realizes that Marley and Paradis has joined forces, and knowing that will cause a derailment in his plans, needs extra support and fast. He went after the Middle Eastern Alliance and stole their technology because they were the ones who actively stood a chance against Marley's forces. They had the best technology, but because of his interference, the Middle Eastern Alliance are now turning on each other.

(He watches the shit go down as entertainment while Pieck is just mortified at it all.)

So Soundwave knows that he's going to need a temporary army until he can finish his machine to contact the Decepticons. Through his spying, he finds out about Hizuru shady deals and military advancements and decides that they are the best route.

He waits, spies on the locals, finds out more information about Ambassador Kiyomi, the Azumabito Clan, the Hizuru Royal Family, and the country's disdain for the royal family. He learns that the current one was placed there during the loss of the actual heir and the fall of the Eldian Empire. Taisho's father was despised, Taisho himself is hated, Kenshin is considered neutral, but...they all seem to adore Katsuko, the Emperor's wife.

So some OC background that I wanted to divulge in for Taisho and Katsuko since I have talked about Kenshin in the past. Taisho was around during the height of the Marleyan Empire and the scorn and ridicule of the Hizuru Empire. His father became corrupt due to his own dealings to try and get rich, instead of valuing the future of Hizuru. Taisho had constantly witnessed uncertainty, death threats, assault, everything. The only friend he had was Kiyomi, since she was already part of the Azumabito clan. Taisho and his father's relationship was terrible, abusive even. Taisho's only desire is just to survive in this ever changing world.

The only time Taisho was willing to risk it all and throw the crown away himself was because of Katsuko. Katsuko was definitely a low ranking member of society, but she is exceptionally brilliant and deeply compassionate to those around her. She fought tooth and nail to try and learn everything she could for a woman of her time and do her best to hold herself to a higher standard despite her status. One thing leads to another, and she and Taisho meet for the first time, and then continue to meet in secret.

And Taisho...feels safe with her. Initially, he thought she was there for an ulterior motive, but Katsuko never abused her knowledge of his identity or tried to take advantage of him like so many others. Taisho falls and he falls hard. People see Katsuko and Taisho together, and they don't like Taisho, but they adore Katsuko because of her kindness throughout the capital. Taisho's father does find out about this and immediately tries to destroy the relationship, but Taisho finds out and immediately threatens him: if he so much as lays a finger on her, he will never see Taisho again.

Taisho's father still tries, but the public love Katsuko, and his partners do see a benefit in gaining public approval. The father still disapproves, tries to make Katsuko's life in the temple a living hell. But Katsuko's been through worse and just keeps her head held high. This only furthers the kingdom's resentment of Taisho's father. Kiyomi ends up finding out about the father's attempt to downright assassinate Katsuko and stages a quiet coup. Using the diplomatic skills she's been training for, she convinces the other council members of the importance of removing the father and putting Taisho on the thrown immediately for the ultimate future of this nation. Most of them agree, since they've noticed his behavior is out of control. One day, Taisho discovers that his father died in his sleep. But Taisho's not stupid. His father was in perfect health and would've lived a long life with all the luxuries he had. Someone caused his death, and he had a gut feeling who.

"Do you resent me for it?" Kiyomi asked him that night.

Taisho crossed his arms and sighed. "You know how my father was. His love was only for money. Not for his country, not for his dead wife, not even me. I don't resent you for it, Kiyomi. You made a call to protect this nation. You'll make a good ambassador."

"I could turn on you, one day," Kiyomi warned, "If you do something that will ultimately destroy our nation."

"...I'm in your debt," Taisho declared, "If you decide I'm unfit to rule, do what you must."

Taisho doesn't shed tears as they bury his father, and he is made the new emperor without any objections. Katsuko asks him if he's alright, and...Taisho admits that he's terrified. He now has all this power, and he's afraid of who he'll become now that he has it. He doesn't want to be like his father. And Katsuko reminds him that he has the power to be whoever he wants to be. Taisho could have bent to his father's will, but never did so. That was more than enough proof that Taisho was better than him. Taisho is moved and downright asks Katsuko to marry her in that moment, if she doesn't hate him or what his father put her through. Katsuko laughs and says yes.

Now back to the main story. Soundwave knows about Katsuko's favoritism among the public, and decides she's the best way to get the army that he wants. So he kidnaps her, and forces Taisho's to give him an army or else she dies. Taisho's in a tight spot, the council and the public are in terror and disarray. Taisho can't let his wife die, but he now realizes that all the odd occurrences happening in other countries are happening because of Soundwave. Soundwave is the one causing them trouble. And Taisho makes a very calculated risk without knowing much about Soundwave. He tells Kiyomi and Kenshin to run and get help while he bent to Soundwave's command. Kiyomi understands the situation, but Kenshin is terrified and angry, lashing out at his father and calling him a coward!

"You're just going to let mom die?!" Kenshin demanded.

"I am buying my time!" Taisho declared in anger, "We don't have many options! That being has been dismantling governments in the shadows! If we are not careful, Hizuru is next!"

"Mom is our best chance at swaying the public-!"

"As long as she is in his clutches, I cannot take that risk and let her die!" Taisho yelled, "I am not going to lose your mother without a fight! You know that we are limited in options! You and Kiyomi getting help is our best chance at survival! So listen to your father for once and go with your aunt!"

"...Dad...I'm scared," Kenshin confessed, tears forming in his eyes.

Taisho felt his lips tremble before placing his hands on his son's cheeks. "My stubborn and prideful child, that is natural. This is not something we prepared for...In the event of my death and the death of the Empress, you will be crowned the next Emperor of Hizuru."

"Don't you fucking say that!" Kenshin yelled.

"You are the pride and the future of this nation," Taisho declared, "And I have never been more proud to call you my own."

Taisho wants to say that he's sorry for not being the best father and letting their relationship get so strained, but there's not enough time. Kiyomi and Kenshin need to go. Father and Son say their emotional goodbyes, and Taisho does his best to wipe his tears as Kiyomi and Kenshin flee to get help.

(More OC centric, but I've been meaning to talk about them.)

It’s a very soothing thought when the man in question is someone who almost certainly needs drowning. Honestly Katsuko is a hero in that arc. If only we could all have her patience and presence of mind when a boss or similar is infuriating us.

Would katsu and shingen ever have kids? Like i know that would likely only happen in the future, but i have always been curious about this. If yes, have you ever thought about how they would look like?

Hi Selena!

Thank you for stopping by and leaving an ask! I've actually wondered if someone would ask this question (or a similar one). The answer to the first question is somewhat complicated and long, part of it due to how I envisioned the world of Ikesen, and partly because of the backstory I created for Katsu.

And oddly, the subject of birth control just came up in the fic I am writing between Katsu and her LI in that route, so it was kind of in my head anyway.

I'm going to put the rest of this under a cut line, because it includes potentially triggering discussions of parental death (Katsu's mother), mental health and depression.

First some game tropey stuff...

One of the things about Ikesen is that MC never seems to be concerned that back in modern Japan she'd be a missing person. She doesn't consider that her family might be worried. That always bothered me, so when I was first playing around with Katsu (and Toshiie) I decided that either they weren't close to their parents (in one early brainstorming session, I decided their father was a jerk, their mother left years and years before, and neither of them would be in touch with their adult children enough to realize that they were missing.... but that still didn't quite make sense to me). Eventually, I decided that their mother was a single mother, their father had never been in the picture and that Katsu & Toshiie didn't even know his name. By the time they got wormholed, their mother was deceased, but I hadn't really figured out the cause of death (I was wavering between a terminal illness or a sudden accident). Midway into "Twelve Lies" I figured out that Mayumi had been clinically depressed all of Katsu & Toshiie's lives, and that she had killed herself as soon as they became adults (commence rewriting of the prologue...).

The other thing about Ikesen is that Mai/MC, once she settles in with her LI, has a pretty active sex life, but never becomes pregnant. Which is fine... it's just one of the quirks of the game, and aside from occasional events where MC and her LI end up babysitting, or responsible for a child for a little while, the game seems content in leaving her childless, and I do try to keep as much of the game's "rules" as I can. However, I couldn't quite manager to suspend disbelief to that much of an extent in the fic I was writing (nor was I that interested in writing a pregnancy story), so I had to figure out my way around that. I figured that either (a) The timeline self corrects, and any time travelers are not able to procreate when they go back in time in order to prevent a temporal paradox, or (b) Katsu can't have children, or (c) Katsu uses a Sengoku era herbal contraceptive tea (and I can suspend disbelief enough to pretend that it works as well as birth control pills). I almost went with "a", but then I decided that Toshiie and his wife would have children in that timeline, so instead I went with "c".

Of course, that is all fine for the storyline of the fic(s), but we're now into a hypothetical future that takes place after "Twelve Lies" ends (although Katsuko and Shingen do pop up in the other longfics, and I am still writing occasional one-shots with them, so I am mentally keeping track of their lives after the longfic ended).

And yes, Shingen is canonically the only character who explicitly says that he wanted a family and children (but never thought it was possible due to his health). So that's in my head too...

The thing is, Katsu's upbringing has left with a fear of pregnancy - not the childbirth itself, but she's aware that Mayumi suffered from postpartum depression and she believes that is what set off Mayumi's clinical depression (it wasn't - Mayumi struggled with depression from adolescence onward - but this timeline's Katsu doesn't know that).

Katsu has always trusted her physical abilities, but she's never trusted her emotions. Putting herself into the situation where hormones could affect her brain chemistry, especially in a time period where she has no access to modern psychiatry, is not at the top of her list. And having lived with someone who suffered from depression, she doesn't want to put Shingen (or any children) through that either - Katsu's memories of living with that are pretty traumatic - she doesn't want to cause anyone around her to live through that same type of trauma. She knows that Mayumi couldn't help her depression, and the idea of losing control over her emotions in the same way is terrifying to her.

Am I going to write about this in a fic? Not sure... it's a heavier topic tonally from the Tempest in Time fics, and I would need to be in a particular frame of mind to approach it, and need to be certain that I could write it authentically and write it well. Katsu is aware that Shingen wants children in his life, and also aware that the Takeda clan would prefer that he have heirs as well. So the topic has probably come up between them (Shingen is aware she drinks a contraceptive tea - they discussed it in the longfic, when he still believed his condition was incurable)... I just haven't written down the 'can we have a baby' discussion (...yet?). I've played it out in several scenarios in my head though, so it's possible I might write it down at some point... but it would be pretty angsty fic, and as I noted above, tonally different from the series (or I would write it for myself, but never upload it... also possible).

Anyway, until they work through that (which as I said, I may or may not write about), they won't have children of their own. There will be children around... we know that in that timeline Toshiie & Hana have two children already (I'm also toying with a side character from that timeline having a child with Sasuke, um, or Yukimura)... and probably Mai and Kenshin will procreate at some point, and one thing I am certain of, is that Shingen and Katsuko will probably find their way into adoption.

(Actually, in the current longfic, Katsu - who is "Kaya" in that timeline, ends up accidentally in Shingen & Katsuko's timeline, and upon first meeting them, sees Toshiie's children and wonders if they are Katsuko's... and if so, whether or not that timeline's version of her got past her fears.... so even a backstory that I created and didn't think would explicitly work its way into a lonfic, sort of ended up there peripherally anyway).

That said... to answer your second question, at this point in my imagining, any children that Shingen and Katsuko have living with them don't resemble them all that much because they're adopted. But, hypothetically, if they do have biological children, Shingen's hair will probably turn grey because their kids will all inherit Katsuko's daredevil tendencies and Shingen's sneakiness and possibly spend their childhood escaping the castle to climb trees.

This was .... probably way too much information, and I apologize if it got a bit dark in there for a while.

If it wasn’t for your pounding headache from all the crying you did the night before, you would’ve thought it was just a normal day. Your heart felt shattered, even if the breakup was weeks in the planning after you found out your boyfriend had cheated on you.

You sat up from your mattress on the floor and got out of your sleeping bag. The removalists would take the last of your stuff today then you were going to move to Musutafu in the Shizuoka Prefecture.

Moving to a whole other Prefecture just to get away from some boy who cheated on you might have been an overreaction, but you gave up so much to be with your boyfriend. You gave up friends, and some amazing job offers, and even stopped talking to some family members.

You didn’t even want to tell your parents you broke up with your boyfriend because he cheated on you. You knew if you told them that, they would say ‘This is what you get for not waiting for your soulmate’. You simply told your parents you had accepted a new job and were going to move away and that you and Minato had decided to break up.

Which was also the reason you gave to him. You didn’t want to admit you came over to surprise him, only to see him kiss another girl while she left his apartment. You didn’t want to admit you then talked to the woman and found out she thought she was dating him for months. You didn’t want to admit that you then had been secretly planning to leave the Prefecture, accepting a new Hero Assistant job just to get away from him.

You didn’t want to tell him. You didn’t want to tell your parents.

You didn’t want to tell anyone.

Because you knew no one would support you at this point.

You took your last shower in your apartment and put the last of your things into your suitcase before standing outside of your apartment as the removalists came, taking your mattress, a nightlight, table and chair.

You sighed before making your way down the apartment stairs. Your train left in a few hours but you didn’t want to stay around here for very long. Too many memories.

You didn’t want to remind yourself how much you had failed.

You were starting a new life, away from all this drama you caused for yourself. You were starting your new job next week and you already had a new apartment to move into, leaving you with the opportunity to throw things out.

Goodbye Minato Kusumoto, you cheating bastard.

When you stepped into your new apartment, you let out a sigh of relief.

Sure, there were boxes everywhere, but you were away from everyone. You had been moving around all day, only being able to have a small lunch. You felt so tired.

You were thankful to the removalists that they put your mattress on your bedframe. You quickly made your bed then stripped off your clothing, getting yourself comfy into your bed.

You had a busy next few days ahead of you then straight into work. You needed things to be fast-paced, so you could get your mind off of Minato.

You looked at your phone one last time before bed, rolling your eyes when you saw your mother had texted you.

Mama Hi sweetie How was the trip? Did you get home safely?

You I’m fine mother, thank you. I’ll text you in the morning, I’m tired.

You didn’t even look at what she texted back, you just put your phone down and turned over in your bed. You closed your eyes, wanting the darkness to take you.

But then you felt it.

You pushed your thighs together and blushed feeling as you felt pleasure and desire rush through your system.

Then you met your ex-boyfriend and you broke the unspoken agreement you had with your soulmate.

You knew your soulmate knew. Not only could they feel it, but they stopped masturbating altogether for a while.

“I am just grateful for this opportunity, Best Jeanist.” You thanked the hero, slightly bowing the hero.

“He’ll be a handful.” Best Jeanist sighed in a defeated pitch. “Let me know if he becomes too much of a handful for you, Miss L/N.”

You softly nodded. The articles you had read about the Explosive Hero were alarming, to say the least. He would be needing an overhaul of his PR branding, limited access to his public social media, and probably limited interviews.

Maybe photoshoots would help him gain some more fangirls. His fangirls were probably the most loyal thing he has ever had in his fanbase if the Hero Deku wasn’t.

“Thank you for the concern, Best Jeanist.” You said in a thankful voice. “I’m sure I’ll find my rhythm with him soon enough.”

“I hope so too.” He said before opening an opaque window door to an office space.

The room was 5 metres by 5 metres, one wall only being a window to the outside of the building, and the other three being opaque windows. One of the opaque walls had another opaque door, but you could tell that the other side of the wall and door had soundproofing foam stuck to it.

Best Jeanist walked into the door and pointed at the door with foam on the other side. “That’s Dynamight’s office. We’ve tried making it so you won’t get disturbed by his yelling. If he does get too loud you are more than welcome to work with some of the other Hero Assistants.”

“Is there a common room where the assistants frequent?” You asked him.

“Yes, on level 5 if I remember correctly.” He answered. “I’ll ask my assistants where it is exactly for you.”

“Thank you, Best Jeanist.”

“You can just call me Hakamada, L/N.” He reassured you. “I’ll go find Bakugou so we can introduce you to him.”

“Don’t bother.” A deep husky male voice spoke from the doorframe.

You and Hakamada turned to the door frame, and there stood a 196cm tall man with a wide chest and shoulders, muscular arms crossed in front of his chest, spiky ash blonde hair, sharp ruby red eyes, and an explosion scar across the right side of his face.

It was Katsuki Bakugou, also known as Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight, in the top 100 heroes in Japan and the hero you were now the assistant. If it weren’t for him never being able to hold down an assistant, you would have never been given the opportunity to be able to quickly leave your ex-boyfriend.

You felt a shiver down your spine and a growing uncomfortable arousal feeling growing inside of you. You tried to push it away, but you could feel your soulmate’s arousal as well.

“Bakugou, I’m glad you were able to make this meeting.” Hakamada spoke up. “This is your new assistant, Y/N L/N.”

Bakugou’s eyes are glued to you. You felt small under his eyes, and you couldn’t figure out the feelings you were feeling. Maybe from your soulmate bond?

“It’s nice to finally meet you, Bakugou.” You spoke up, trying to keep yourself professional and calm. “I hope we can work together without any problems.”

Bakugou’s eyes stayed glued to you, giving you another shiver down your body. Something about him gave you an uncomfortable feeling. Maybe it was because you had met the known explosion temper, maybe it was from how large it was, maybe it was the scar etched into his skin, maybe it was how he was holding eye contact with you.

Whatever it was, it was stirring something within you. Something you hadn’t experienced before.

“Bakugou-” Hakamada's voice broke both of you out of whatever trance you two were in. “Please don’t scare her off so early into this job.”

Bakugou gave you one last glance before looking at Hakamada. “Fine.”

Bakugou then turned and walked towards his own office, leaving you and the tall hero alone again. Hakamada didn’t allow you much time to recover from your first meeting with the rising hero.

“Sorry about him, I don’t know what’s up with him today.”

“It’s alright, Hakamada.” You rescued him. “He probably was just testing me.”

“That wasn’t him testing you.” Hakamada said. “He’s very… Never mind.”

You quirked a brow at him, but he moved on to the next topic. Not allowing you to ask any questions regarding Bakugou as a person.

“There should be a handbook in the top drawer on what we expect you to be doing for today.” Hakamada said as he pointed to your desk. “Read over over and if you finish it early then get started on making up a plan to showcase to Bakugou, my assistants and myself tomorrow. Is that understood?”

You quickly nodded your head. “I understand sir.”

“Good, I’ll let you get to work then.” Hakamada then left swiftly, walking towards Bakugou’s office.

You walked over to your office, placing your bag beside your desk before going through the large file that was on your top desk. Either Bakugou was going to be a difficult client, or this hero agency was going to be difficult. You had to press on though, you couldn’t fail again so soon.

You saw the screen on your phone light up and saw a familiar name pop up which made you breathe in sharply.

You hadn’t blocked him because you didn’t want him to figure out you knew yet. Maybe give it a few more weeks of him texting then you’ll block with under the reason he wasn’t letting you move on.

Yeah, that could work.

You looked back at the paperwork and started reading.

Your back felt sore after reading the whole file. You stood up and cracked your back. You wrote down some notes on your notepad, but there was no way you had a full plan yet. You could do that at home.

“Is that your only reason?” He asked.

Silence once again fell the call.

You sighed in relief. “I won’t I promise.”

You hung up the phone and finally let your emotions collapse.
