Like I did with you
So I’ve been procrastinating hard during my study break for my exams, but here have a song fic!
Ghost of you by 5SOS
Genius comments: The song tells the tale of a heartbroken lover who has lost his significant other – due to a breakup or even suicide/death – and is refusing to accept the fact that she is never coming back.
I didn’t feel like writing angst and whenever I hear this song I feel like ballroom dancing (and I have).

Gotham Academy implemented a new ‘Study Abroad’ program due to recent funding from a local humanitarian. This program gave the students of Gotham Academy a chance to study abroad in Europe and vice versa. Countries like Sweden, Greece, Germany, Ireland and more participated in the program; offering a multitude of high schools with many different courses.
And because of that very wealthy benefactor, his son got first pick on where he would like to study. This was 100% not a forced decision at all to subtly keep track of the happenings of Paris. With that the Ice Prince of Gotham took the City of Love by storm.
He had been at Collège Françoise Dupont for the past few months, and it’s been hell. The class he had been placed into was ripping apart at the seams. There were two students that the class gravitated towards; he observed some of the others meeting in secret, without the knowledge of their respective ‘leaders’.
The first student that held the majority of the class’ focus was Lila Rossi. She was a black hole with beady green eyes, who dragged who ever was in her reach to an agonising fate. Damian saw through her deceptions and rejected her flirtations. The students that followed her, ate up whatever lie she spat out. Rossi soon learned that lies about the Wayne family and Gotham wouldn’t fly with him.
“Really? You worked with Monsieur Wayne?” The pink clad girl, Rose, squeaked.
Damian had just walked into class on his second day at the hell hole and already regretted it. He shot a glare towards the large group, “Who ever told you that is severely misinformed. My father has never worked with a minor from Europe, due to potential rumours and allegations it could cause. It is not a threat but a promise if a lie of similar caliber is spread there will be a lawsuit.” And with that he walked towards his seat in the back, the Ice Prince had cast his decree, the class’ atmosphere had frozen over.
The second student was Marinette Dupain-Cheng. Those that surrounded her were Alix Kubdel, Chloé Bourgeois, Max Kanté, Lê Chiến Kim and the occasional secret appearance from Juleka Couffaine. They didn’t view Dupain-Cheng through rose coloured lenses, they were always grounded and opinions were respected. Damian, who was a loner without Jon at his side, was satisfied by himself; Marinette respected that and didn’t force him to socialise like Lila tried to.
So that leads us to this. He stood against a sidewall of the giant banquet hall, staring out at the crowd before him. Jon was walking to wards him with a can of sprite in hand. Jon had moved to Paris with him but had been placed into a different class. The boy who was the epitome of sunshine stuck around the Ice Prince, their friendship is an enigma to the Françoise Dupont students.
Jon’s face was flushed. He had just gotten a drink after dancing for the past hour. Tonight was the night of the Collège’s formal dance for their graduating class. Skirts of all colours and fabrics swirled, as their partners (majority of whom had matching suits) twirled them to the music.
Jon, gesturing to the crowd, asked him whether he was going to stand there all night or dance. Taking a sip of his drink a smirk appears on his face, “unless the great Damian Wayne is to much of a coward to dance.”

Damian’s head snapped towards the taller boy, “Are you seriously using my ego to get me to dance?”
Jon raising an eyebrow, “Well?”
If I can dream long enough
The temperamental teen stormed off, grumbling about “Jon being as bad as Todd”. Scanning the room he search for a suitable partner, there was no way he would embarrass himself by dancing alone.

He spotted Dupain-Cheng stood off to the side, alone. She was draped in a layered white dress with black hemming. As he neared, he realised that the asymmetrical skirt was actually a light blush with her signature apple blossom flowers embroidered. She looked up at him and he straightened his stance, slowing his pace. Her sapphire eyes locked on to his, her bangs curled off to the side along with the rest of her hair in beach waves.
So I drown it out like I always do
She gifted him a small smile, a usual occurrence within her interactions with him. He offered his left hand, bowing his head slightly. “Dupain-Che—“ he cleared his throat, “Marinette. Would you do me the honour of joining me in this dance?”

Her eyes widened, not expecting the Arabian God of a teen before her to ask her such a question. She saw his temper during class during his spats with Lila and how he kept to himself without the presence of Jon. But here he was in a fitted Armani suit that made his green eyes glow, and hair messily slicked to the side. Marinette looked at his hand, glad that her makeup mostly hid her blush.

“I am...” She paused to find the right word, “I am a bad dancer. It is better for everyone that I don’t participate.”
“I can think of nothing less appealing than an evening of watching other people dance.” A small gasp escaped from her mouth before she could stop it. She watched as his mouth twitch’s downwards before his facade returned with full strength. “If you do not wish, to I won’t force you. But if you’ll allow me I’ll guide you through the dance to make sure it isn’t an utter disaster.”
With a shot of truth
Marinette’s lips quirked, giggling as she took his hand, “Your funeral Damian.”
What had he gotten himself into?
The two entered the dance floor, taking up the dance support hold. Their dance had the basic steps of the waltz, with a promenade and many spins; some as a couple and some were just Mari. Damian soon found he enjoy watching the sparkles in her dress light up as she spun. It became even more enjoyable when he discovered that the dress was her own creation.

The two made quiet conversations during their dance. Damian pulled her closer by the waist as they repeated the basic steps, their bodies perfectly in tune with each other. “You are a fine dancer despite your protests”
With the ghost of you
Marinette tilted her head up at him, blinding him with a dazzling smile. Damian’s heart fluttered, the two always had a mutual respect but it seems to have grown into a fond appreciation.
From the tables scattered around the dance floor there was a blond, with his fist clenched. Lila had dragged him off of the floor as soon as Damian and Marinette made their debuts; together. The brunette was now off angrily gossiping to Alya and any other who’d listen. It was a hot topic between Lila and Alya that Marinette loved him, although now, as he watched her dance with Damian, he was unsure as to whether that was ever true. He sat there, glued to his seat, watching the spectacle before him.
Cleaning up today

The two dancers didn’t notice that everyone had cleared off the floor to watch them. They danced in sync, no movement was made without the other following it. Adrien had realised awhile ago that even though he didn’t have romantic feelings for Marinette, he cherished her friendship. That relationship was now tarnished due to the path he took when he first revealed his knowledge of the deceptions. His father had forced him to keep Lila happy, even if it made him miserable.

He had lost her, and he was unsure as to whether he could gain any semblance of their relationship back.

Damian lifted his partner’s right hand and twirled her three times, they both were content within their own world. The two swayed before turning together and walking around the now open space.
But I know better now (Better now)
Marinette flushed as she realised what was happening around her, leaning towards her partner she whispered, “I think we’ve become an impromptu entertainment.”

Damian subtly gazed behind her seeing their peers in a circle surrounding them. He was on the inside looking out, and he wouldn’t trade it for the world. He whispered reassurances in her ear, he wished to finish the song before he released her from his embrace. The two drowned out their audience, focusing on each other and the beat of the song.

The melody slowly faded off as the last lines were sung. The two finished on a basic waltz step before swaying in each other’s arms. The music ends and there is silence, blood rushed to their ears and their breaths mingled.
The two stayed in the other’s embrace, face-to-face, staring. They broke out of their trance by clapping. Looking around Marinette saw many of her peers and most of the supervising teachers applauding their performance.
Their friends broke through the crowd, Jon patted Damian’s shoulder (retracting before he got bit) while Chloe and Alix pulled Marinette back to their table to discuss what Disney magic had befallen the couple. The bluenette glanced back at her partner, mouthing a silent goodbye.
The crowd dispersed but were still buzzing from their display. Marinette was bombarded with questions, not only from her friends, but from other students about her dancing with the demon. Her stuttered replies did little to quench the crowd’s thirst. Her face must be comparable to that of a tomato.
Damian, having noticed the building crowd and Marinette’s uncomfortable stance, broke away from Jon. The crowd parted like the red sea, unwilling to be the one to anger the Ice Prince.
He offered her his arm (to which she took) and escorted her out to the patio outside. She stayed entwined with him, as she looked out at the stray Parisian night; leaning her head onto his should. Here the two could breathe. Here the two of them could be their present selves, no ghostly facades needed. It seems they could drown out anything in the presence of each other.
Unbeknownst to them, Jon had recorded their dance, along with their previous and present interactions of that night. He thought for a second to use it as blackmail material but decided to just send it off anyways. Oh the chaos it caused.

AN: Welp! I started this back in March. It was supposed to be a oneshot and then I realised it was 200 odd pages. Whoops! Another songfic based on music by Joji. This one is Gimme Love, which some of you would probably know, it was circling TikTok for a while. Anyway, more song fics to come!! I hope y'all enjoy! Stay safe in these crazy times!

"OK, so you got your apple juice, your finger sandwiches, and grapes. And most importantly, you got your best outfit on. Ready?"
No. I wasn't ready. They were going to eat me up. I knew just by how the 3 bitches off to the side stared and laughed. One of them was swinging from the bus stop pole. It sounded evil, but I hoped she would have fallen over.
"No." I clung to my Mother.
"Brianna." She uttered. She was tired, already having dealt with this before leaving the house. And it didn't help that Grandpa only laughed instead of helping out.
"No!" I said louder, squeezing my tiny fists into her shoulders.
"Look. Everything will be fine. The day will fly in, trust me. And I'll be right here when you get off the bus later." Mom continued.
She gave me a kiss on the forehead and shook me off.
As she smoothed her skirt down, I stamped my foot in a huff. For me, this was the second most ultimate betrayal that had ever happened to me. My Mom was making me go to school. How dare she.
"I love you, girl. Be good and have a great day." Mom said before walking away. My gaze followed, feeling the faucet in my eyes turn on. I was prone to cry baby behaviour around this age.
Now that my Mom was gone, it was all game for the bitches.
"Awww, the little baby needs her Mommy." One of them cooed in her fake voice. "Didn't you know the pre-school bus picks up two hours later?"
"Yeah!" Another decided to join in, "And I bet that's not even your real Mommy."
"She is too!" I clenched my tiny fists at my side. This was half true. I was an adopted child, but to me, Roberta was the best Mother I could have ever asked for. And no one had the right to question that.
"No, she's not! Your real Mommy didn't want you 'cause you're ugly!"
"Yeah, look at your hair. It looks like a fur ball."
"And your clothes are obviously hand me downs."
I stamped my feet again. "That's it! I'm giving you the finger!" I flipped them off. I picked it up from Mom, from the many time's drivers pissed her off. When she'd warn me never to do that, I knew it had some sort of power to it.
But it did nothing. The girls just laughed even more. I had no defences; therefore, I was left helpless.
The bus pulled up, and I was last to get in. The girls warned almost everybody to watch out for the "girl with the weird hair".
I moved down the middle of the bus, my head moving from side to side, hoping to find a seat.
Everybody with a free seat either put their bags on the chairs or put their feet up. I wanted to snap, demanding that they let me sit. But the fear inside rendered me silent.
I was nearing the back, where the 3 girls sat. They smirked upon seeing my face, relishing in the fact I was on the verge of tears. All I wanted was to turn back, get off the bus and lock myself in my house.
But as if someone above heard my innermost thoughts, that's when I heard it.
"Do you need a seat?"
I looked towards the voice. And I froze. There she was, an absolute angel. She looked like a Disney Princess with her bright blonde hair and blue eyes.
I hesitated for a moment. But the bus began to move. So I sat down next to her.
"Hi," I said.
"Hey." Her eyes were observing me, looking me up and down. And I felt even more stunned. "You have funny hair."
"My Mommy says I have lovely hair," I replied in defence.
"I didn't mean it in a bad way. I just never seen hair like that." The girl replied.
My hair wasn't even bad. I just had a massive head of untamed brown curls. Nothing out of the ordinary.
Then again, I had never seen anyone with hair like hers. She looked like she had gone to a salon beforehand. "Your hair looks golden."
"Thank you." She smiled. "I'm Blair. My favourite colour is yellow, and I wanna be a singer when I grow up. How about you?"
"I'm Brianna. My favourite colour is pink. And...I wanna be a politician someday."
"What's a pola...polatichon?" Blair asked.
"A politician." I corrected her. "I don't know what they do. They just shout a lot. And that's what I want to do."
Blair had no idea what I was talking about, but she laughed anyway. And that made my heart skip a beat.
I felt something pelt the back of my head. I grabbed it, looking at the small rolled up bit of my paper in my hand. It was wet. I had just been spitballed for the first time.
Blair looked over her shoulder, and I did the same. It was the three bitches from the bus stop. They weren't even hiding their giggles.
"Not nice." Blair stuck her tongue out at them. Then, turning back around in her seat, she put her hand on mine. "Don't worry about them. I'm your friend, Brianna."
"Really?" My eyes brightened.
"Of course!"
As much as that statement had made my heart soar, how it made me feel like there was nothing to be afraid of…
It was the biggest lie I heard that day.
As soon as I got off the bus at the end of the day, I waved to Blair, unaware that she would be sitting with the 3 bitches the next day.
And then it went on for years, being that ugly girl with weird hair. And it didn't help that I needed glasses later in life.
But I wasn't completely alone. So let me tell you about Jujubee.
2020
"Hey, asshole! I'm pulling in there!"
Jujubee was hanging out the driver side window, flicking the indicator aggressively.
"Juju, can you just...not do that?" I asked, my eyes glued to my phone as I checked how many people had seen my Instagram story. It was a picture of the two of us, showing off our outfits that had been gifted from Alexander McQueen.
"And let that asshole steal my spot? Absolutely not." Jujubee protested. She flipped the guy off, only to receive the same gesture back at her. She wasn't prone to behaving like this. I usually found it absolutely hilarious how loud she could be.
Now, you're probably wondering - two well-dressed ladies in their Alexander McQueen outfits should be seated in the back of a limo, sipping champagne.
I wasn't a fan of limos. They only drew attention.
And with Jujubee hurling dog abuse at the other drivers, I was sure the attention would be on us.
But we made it to the event without any trouble.
Jujubee was hilarious, intentionally and unintentionally. I learned that all the way back on my second day of school. When it was clear to me that I wouldn't be friends with anyone else, I ventured off on my own, exploring the playground and looking for bugs. But, instead, I found her sitting alone in the sandbox.
"Leave me alone. I'm trying to dig to the centre of the Earth." She had said, blowing her shiny black hair out of her face.
I knew she would only reach the bottom of the pit, so I laughed, and I helped her dig. We had been inseparable since.
We grew up together, all the way through elementary, high school and college. And through those years, we had one thing in common - we were the weird ones. The kids who everyone bullied.
Ugh, I hated that word; bullied. It made me feel pathetic and helpless. Jujubee and I, however? We were far from pathetic and helpless. After all, how would we even be where we were if that was the case?
OK, maybe I was pathetic and helpless growing up. No, I was. I had just accepted all the name-calling, the shoving, the damage. Jujubee, on the other hand, would fight against it all.
But back to the current situation. We were now sitting at a table with the other project workers. Everyone was having a great time, and the event hadn't even really begun yet. They passed jokes around, talked about trials and tribulations, and I laughed along.
But I may as well have been alone as I was stuck in my own thoughts. How it was even possible, we were all gathered here for this moment.
I looked at Jujubee, sitting next to me, and felt an overwhelming need to hug the shit out of her. If it weren't for her being so encouraging, then maybe this wouldn't have happened.
"What's up?" She caught me staring.
I lowered my head for a moment, breathing a laugh out through my nostrils. I didn't want to get sappy with her, even though she deserved my gratitude. My best friend, my ride-or-die bitch. Lifting my head again, I smirked. "Nothing. I'm just glad you're on this team." I raised my glass to her before sipping the bubbling champagne.
"Proud of you bitch." Jujubee reaching over and squeezed my free hand.
I was proud of me too. Because, despite all of the shit I dealt with in school, here I was, the manager and director of this whole operation.
All of the hard work paid off - years of trials and tribulations, so many arguments and disagreements. We finally did it. We found a gateway to another world, a parallel universe, a portal in the middle of the space just waiting to be explored.
Of course, people doubted me. They said things like, "Well, it is a dream, all right." How could anyone blame them?
But here we were.
The speaker, Michelle, called me up onto the stage to receive a certificate, all encased in a glass frame. I exchanged air kisses with her and graciously took the award. Jujubee cheered me on as I stood up there, letting people take pictures.
And then came the obligatory speech.
I couldn't lie; I hated public speaking. It was always something I struggled with. But, I never backed down from one. I just liked to keep them short and sweet.
"Long story short, I had dreams, and I worked towards them. So, here I am, an example of the walking embodiment of success. And I thank each and every one of you, ladies and gentlemen. Have a great night."
Short and sweet. The crowd applauded.
Yes, I was told in the past that I'm arrogant, but I disagreed. I'd say confident. And there was nothing wrong with confidence. After all, there has been a stigma around that word. Doesn't it come from a sense of insecurity, the need to tear successful people down because you're afraid to strive towards your goals?
I deserved to feel this successful, for all those times I was laughed at and ridiculed. I look down on all those assholes and let them know that I made it.
I posed for pictures as I held my award, knowing they would be everywhere the next day; in the papers, magazines, the Internet.
This wasn't the first award I had received. I had a shelf full back home, along with all of my past badges. They reminded me that, once upon a time, I was just any other office worker with her yellow badge. And now here I was, the director of the project with my black badge working closely with the government.
I got off the stage and moved back to my chair. Jujubee rolled her eyes, but her smile remained.
"Where's the after-party?" I asked as the audience shifted their attention from me.
Sometimes I never understood how she put up with me. "Don't worry. I got us covered."
She wasn't lying. A few hours later, we were in the apartment of some other rich somebody. Music was bouncing off the walls, the speakers apparently on full blast.
The main lights were out, replaced with multicoloured LEDs dancing around the place. It was as if we were in our own private club.
Jujubee and I were in the crowd dancing, but because I was absolutely wasted, I lost her many times.
No need to panic, however. Jujubee wasn't a drinker. So she'd find me. She always did.
I really did feel sorry that she had to deal with all of my shenanigans.
"Juju, where the fuck are you??" I roared, not that it would do much. Midsummer Madness by 88RISING was blaring now. Starting to stress out now.
I grabbed a champagne flute as a waiter walked by.
"Brianna, I love the dress." A woman leaned over and shouted in my ear. I had met her before at another event, a fashion reporter if I remembered correctly.
"Thanks. It's Versaci."
As I said earlier, it was fucking Alexander McQueen. I was faded.
Somehow I ended up in the bathroom, throwing up all the alcohol I had consumed into the toilet. After I finished, I washed my mouth out, looked at my reflection and said, "Baby, you're a star."
And somehow, I made it back downstairs. I was searching for Jujubee but found someone else instead. And it was fucking Ed Sheeran.
"I love your new song." I lied.
"Which one?"
"The new one." I smiled. "Hey, Ed. You wanna be the first person to go through the portal?" I wrapped an arm around him.
He looked absolutely taken aback. "Of fucking course. My manager will be in touch."
I really hoped he was joking. Why the fuck had I even suggested it?
I felt a hand on my shoulder. It was Jujubee. My nerves settled, and I leaned closer to her. "Let's go outside."
I had no recollection of making it out to the balcony. The only thing I remembered happening before then was rambling to many strangers about how much I adored Jujubee.
A few other party attendees were outside too. I wanted to tell them how I didn't deserve Jujubee and that she was an angel. But she quickly steered me away.
I looked out over the city, a happy smile on my face.
"Are you having fun, baby girl?" Jujubee asked, using her favourite pet name for me. She sparked up a cigarette. I wanted to ask her for one, having gone from chain smoker to social smoker in recent years. But I was too distracted by the view.
"Yeah. I can feel it, Juju." I replied, looking at my hands. It was almost like I could actually feel it. The euphoric feeling of success running in my veins. "Good things are coming."
"Oh, I feel it too." Jujubee blew out the smoke and followed my gaze. "You know what? Your Grandpa was a great guy. And I know that he's proud of you."
My smile dropped. And I was silent.
I preferred to avoid speaking about things like this. Emotions weren't something I liked to deal with - another difference between Jujubee and me.
Just the year prior, we both went to see Midsommar. During the scene where the main character is having a breakdown on the ground surrounded by the Hargan woman screaming along with her, Jujubee was captivated. She looked almost like she wanted to scream along with them. And as she squeezed my hand and leaned over to me, she said, "I need someone to do that with me." I replied with a quiet, "Can't relate."
I'm not insensitive. I just feared emotions for two reasons.
1. They could be weaponised against me. And as much as I tried not to let the online hate get to me, I knew that if it ever became personal, then it would hit difficult.
2. The most important reason of all; a childhood full of breakdowns and too many emotions.
Jujubee nudged me. "You wanna go?"
I didn't want to. But I said, "Yeah. I'm...so drunk right now," and turned away from the city view.
"Can I be that annoying whore and ask if I can stay at your place?" Jujubee asked, taking my hand.
She didn't even need a reason. "Yes, you can."
We waded our way through the crowd, made for the door and left. And before I knew it, we were back at my place, lying in my bed. I loaned her a t-shirt to sleep in. I wanted to sleep in my Alexander McQueen. But Jujubee wouldn't let me.
We both lay there, facing the ceiling. I could already feel the oncoming suffering. Usually, I loved moments like these, when time became fluid, when I didn't have to worry about how I had even gotten home.
But my head was pounding, and the loud ringing in my ears was the cause. If I was bad now, I'd be dead by morning.
I could feel Jujubee's eyes on me, and I looked back at her. She was smiling, her brown eyes glimmering. "Almost there, girl."
Despite the pain I was in, I smiled back. I knew this whole thing, the thingy, the portal; it wasn't just my dream. It was hers too.
Fuck, I was hammered.
"Almost there," was all I could manage to say.
Jujubee turned on her side and treated me to some cuddly spooning. "OK, go to sleep, loser."
It was straining on my neck, but I kept my head turned, letting my eyes linger for a moment longer. God, I fucking loved that bitch. Nothing was ever going to come between us, and that made me the happiest.
I turned over, my back relaxing against her torso. Then, before giving in to my exhaustion, I checked my phone. The bright light made me squint at first. And the alcohol in my system didn't help matters.
I checked how many people had seen my story now. The number was blurry. So I aimlessly swiped notifications away.
But I stopped at one message in particular.
Blair: Hey Brianna! Long time no speak. I just wanted to say I saw pictures from your thing tonight. Congrats, girl! Look, I know you're probably super busy, but I'd love to have a catch up with you sometime.
"..." My eyes were wide. Now that was a name I hadn't heard in a long time.
1995
"Do you see Cassiopeia yet?" Juju whined.
I was trying my hardest to find it in the telescope. But the stars were all in clutters; there were so many. "No. I think I see the big dipper, though."
"Really? Let me have a turn!" Juju begged.
I pulled away from the telescope, allowing Juju her turn. Usually, I would have refused, only letting her use the scope after finding what I was looking for.
I really hadn't found the big dipper, but Juju bought it. "Wooooow. That's so cool."
"I know, right?" I smirked.
The backdoor opened, and Grandpa came out in his winter jacket, pj's and his signature slippers. "How many have you girls found now?"
He was carrying two mugs of hot chocolate with whipped cream. I cheered excitedly because Grandpa's hot chocolate was the best, and I'd fight anyone who tried to tell me otherwise.
"We found the big dipper. But that's it." Juju replied, sounding very much let down.
"Don't lose hope," Grandpa gave us our hot chocolate, "some are harder to find than others. I bet there are a lot more constellations out there that haven't even been discovered yet."
I sipped the hot drink, and I could feel it already warming me up. I was so tempted to take my gloves off and let the mug warm them up. But we promised my Mom we would stay wrapped up. "Do you think we could discover one?"
Grandpa took a seat on one of the old deck chairs. "Brianna, you can do anything you set your mind to. Anything is possible."
"One day, I wanna get into a rocket ship and fly away," I said, looking up at the night sky, imagining the scene in my head.
"Hey, Mr Caldwell, are there other people like us? Just looking up at the sky?" Juju asked, taking a sip of her hot chocolate.
"That's an interesting question. I'd say yes, what with how nice the sky is tonight," Grandpa let his gaze trail up, the stars reflecting in his eyes, "But did you know, somewhere far, far away, there are two little girls who are exactly like you. They look the same, they talk the same and even have your names. And they are doing exactly what you're doing right now."
My brows knit in confusion, "what do you mean 'far far away?"
Grandpa looked down again, seeing how intrigued Juju and I was. "Let's just call it the other world. It's basically like our world, but...certain things are different. Like," he paused to think, "maybe cats bark and dogs meow. Or, maybe the sky is pink and not blue. Maybe you girls are actually older, and I'm the young one."
"Do horseys fly in the other world?" Juju asked with much optimism.
"Probably. I don't see why not." Grandpa shrugged.
I glanced up at the sky as if I would somehow just see it. Another world where life was somewhat better.
"Would my Mommy and Daddy have given me up in the other world?" I asked quietly.
Grandpa was silent. His lips were pursed, forming a tight line like there were words on the tip of his tongue that he knew he shouldn't say.
Juju hugged me from the side. I wanted to hug her back but didn't want to cry.
Her hold made me feel safe, so I offered her a half-smile.
Since my first day at school, when those cretins had tried to tell me Roberta wasn't my real Mom, it stuck with me. Yeah, I knew deep down those girls didn't know shit, and Roberta was the best Mother in the world, but I was only human.
As much as I loved my Mom, Grandpa and other family members, I just wanted to feel acceptance from my biological parents.
"Brianna, honey, whoever your family is in the other world, I'm sure they love you from the bottom of their hearts. Just like we do." Grandpa said. He extended his arms out, offering me a hug.
I didn't want it. But I knew I needed it.
That night, we didn't find any constellations. Not that it mattered. After my Grandpa went back inside, Juju and I were set on finding the other world instead.
And this interest went on for nearly a whole year.
It sounded dumb, but we would play games where we were our 'other world selves'. Juju lived in a house full of cats, and they were 'cutest cats in the whole country. So cute they won every pageant!'
And I lived in a huge mansion with my Mom, Grandpa, and my biological parents.
We collectively agreed that our other world selves were the prettiest girls in school, and we had tons of friends. We were so cool, we didn't even have to go to school.
Of course, this started a minor argument between us. Juju would always say, "how can we be the prettiest girls at school if we don't have to go to school??"
"Shut up, Juju! Anything is possible in the other world!"
"Yeah, but it doesn't make sense!"
All of it was so ridiculous. But we loved every minute of it.
I'll never forget the time we built a fort in the woods at the back of my house, and Juju stood under the archway and shouted. "I'm the queen of 'Other World'. Beware ye bastards who enter our domain!"
Then she got upset because she said a bad word and thought she had betrayed her parents.
A few minutes later, I fucked up.
"I, Brianna Caldwell, am the Queen of 'Other World'. I sit on this throne along with my best friend, Blair St Clair!"
Juju was even more upset now.
"Why is she your best friend?? I'm your best friend!" She began to cry.
"Jujubee, it's only pretend." I tried to reason with her.
"No, Brie-Brie. You're always talking about Blair! I know you would rather be best friends with her than me!"
"That's not true!"
"It is!" She wept. "She'll never be your friend, Brie-Brie. She doesn't even like you."
"Take that back!"
"No!"
My anger was bubbling beyond the boiling point. So I shoved her over. "Go away. Now!"
Juju ran off crying.
My teeth were grit, my fists clenched. For about 5 minutes, I stormed around the fort, screaming in anger and kicking the ground.
Mom was freaked out. She knew it was me screaming, so she came running. When she found me, she shouted at me for scaring the absolute fuck out of her.
This only pissed me off more. It took her 5 minutes to get me to chill out.
When I finally explained what happened, she told me it was OK and that we'd be friends again the next day.
It didn't help my mood, so she took me to the mall. It was a rare occasion for us to visit the place. We weren't the richest, what with Mom struggling to keep a job. She wasn't a lousy worker; someone else would just come along who was much more experienced. And without another parental figure to help out, it just meant not much money was being brought into the house.
But Mom decided we'd go to the toy store, and I'd find two dolls, one for me and one for Juju. I made sure they looked exactly like us. Well, considering the nice clothes and great hair, they were our other-selves.
And leaving the building, I was perched on Mom's shoulders, eating the biggest ice cream cone I had ever gotten, when I looked over at the jewellery shop. Two women were leaving the store, holding hands. They leaned in close to each other and kissed.
I just...stared as they smiled at each other, mesmerised by the adoration they so clearly shared.
"Mommy?"
"Yes, Brianna, baby?"
"Why are those two ladies kissing?"
Mom cast a quick glance to where I was looking. "Oh. OK, first of all, don't stare. It's rude. But yeah, they're just two ladies in love with each other. That's all."
I looked away, just as she told me to do. "They're in love? I thought only boys and girls could be in love."
"I guess they're still telling you that in school, huh?" Mom quipped. "Well, I'll tell you this, but keep it on the down-low 'cause I don't want no parents coming and knocking on my door saying you're putting ideas into their kids' heads." She laughed. "The truth is; boys can fall in love with boys, and girls can fall in love with girls. You fall in love with whoever your heart tells you to, Brianna."
I nodded. "Uh, huh. OK, I understand." But then, it hit me. "Fuck."
"Brianna." Mom warned. She knew I was prone to sometimes spurting a few cuss words. But she only had herself to blame.
"Sorry, Mommy." And as we left the mall, my brain couldn't stop thinking about what had popped into my head.
Maybe, just maybe, I was in love with Blair.
My mind was taking me back to years prior, still in my first year of elementary school. It was coming up to Valentine's Day, and we all had to make a card for someone in the class. Bit of a weird activity for a bunch of kids who were more concerned if they were getting bikes for Christmas or not.
And I slaved over my card, making it yellow instead of the traditional pink colour, and drawing daisies all over it.
The message read, "You really deserve this. You're welcome." I've always been a poetic genius.
And instead of giving it to any of the boys, I insisted it went to Blair.
I had vague memories of that day. I only remembered her confused face as I handed it over.
I never received a card in return.
Of course, the other kids picked on me for it. But Juju had my back.
"You're all just jealous 'cause Brie-Brie's card is unique!" I remember her shouting.
But of course, they weren't jealous. This concept was foreign to them - a girl gifting another girl with a Valentine's Day gift. But then again, they just didn't know any better.

A Lesson in Probability
Part 11.5

So this is not plot relevant at all but this is a pretty explanatory way of understanding Vera’s stand as well as Vera and Polnareff getting to know one another a bit better.

Vera tapped on Polnareff’s shoulder, slipping on her earrings as she waited for him to wake up. He blinked up sleepily at her in disbelief. His gaze shot over to the alarm clock on the bedside table.
“Come on, we’re going gambling.” Was all she said before she moved to the door where a suit for a particularly large gentlemen was ‘accidentally’ delivered to his door.
“Midnight? Vera, what are you-“
She laid the suit down on the foot of the bed- switching on the bedside table light. “Polnareff, we’re in Dubai- the casinos here are immaculate. Please? I promise I can make you win some SERIOUS cash.”
He looked at her, slack jaw in disbelief. “You can’t be serious.”
“We’re leaving tomorrow and it’s still a conservative country so I couldn’t go on my own even if my age allowed it- I’m begging you.” She folded her hands in front of her in feigned pleading.
And after he shook himself awake from what she actually guessed was disbelief, he got up. “Alright, alright.”
“Thanks, the taxi will be here in half an hour.” Was all she announced before disappearing into the bathroom where she was putting on make up. The last swipe of red lipsticks on her lips had just been applied when Polnareff’s gentle knock came from the other side of the door.
Her hand wrapped around the door knob and opened to the fully dressed Polnareff. “Oh I do have to applaud myself, I guessed your size pretty well, didn’t I?”
Polnareff fiddled angrily with his loose bow tie, “Why didn’t you take any of the others?”
She moved in, taking over tying his bow tie. “Because the others- as much as Jotaro’s poker face would have been useful- would have snitched on me to Mr Joestar. And Mr Joestar wouldn’t approve of this because well-“ she shrugged. “I’m not done with school yet and already raising hell.”
“Ah I see- you think I’ll keep quiet.”
She only shot him a glance as she was finishing swiping off any lint from his shoulders. “Not necessarily- you’re kind of impulsive and this is impulsive so I figured you’d simply understand.”
With an encouraging pat on the arm she moved past him. “I’m going down for the taxi and a smoke break while you finish freshening up. She was on her way to the door when her feet stopped and she turned back. “Speaking of cigarettes...?”
“Top drawer on the left.”
“Thank you.”
Vera admitted that more than anything, she wished she had a better grip on this guy. Sure, his misadventures gave her a chuckle occasionally but the way he bounced back from grave situations made her ponder if he ever felt anything. If he didn’t- it was somewhat a cause of concern.
She took her ID out about halfway to the casino and used Fortune to change her birthdate.
Polnareff leaned in closer to watch the number blur and reamaterialize like a vision clearing itself. “Now how does luck have the ability to do that?”
“Printing mistake.”
He blinked at her. “You’re going to have to elaborate.”
“Simply put, Polnareff- there’s a small chance that my ID got misprinted, past the quality check and then got sent to me in the mail. The probability was highly unlikely but so is most of the stuff Fortune can make happen.”
The wheels in Polnareff’s head seemed to click and place and he let out a long ohhh.
“So- I’m guessing your stand has always been able to make such specific probabilities come true?”
“Oh not at all-“ she handed the security her clutch purse and her ID, standing to let them pat her down before ‘eagerly’ returning to Polnareff’s side. “There was once a time when I just hoped for the first card from a deck to be a chosen suit. Now, however,” she started leading him towards the chip exchange. “Now I can have Fortune predict and adjust the entire deck.”
She had Polnareff slide in a clip of money- her entire savings- as a total of £3000.
“Starting small, tonight?” The man behind the counter asked as he brought out the chips.
Polnareff seemed appalled at the idea that 3K was a small start but Vera jumped in instead. “It’s just a casual evening for us- we’re traveling in the morning.”
“Are you sure about this?” Polnareff asked, the worry evident on his face. “This is a lot of money you might lose completely.”
“Unlikely- you’ll just have to trust me.” Was all she said as she moved towards the blackjack tables first.
They were offered Champaign by a passing waiter, and just in time for their first deal. “You know how to play, right?” She whispered into his ear.
“Of course I do.”
She smiled down at him, trying to convince the dealer that were at the very least interested in each other’s company. “So you won’t need me, I’ll just be your lucky charm.”
The Roulette wheel was where she knew they’d start making big winnings, it was also where Polnareff started to understand the entertainment aspect of the evening. Gambling was a peculiar art of gathering enough competitors to make your play worthwhile. And Vera using herself as eye candy was exactly what they needed.
“What do you think, my dear? Am I an utter fool for betting that high?” He spoke perhaps a bit too loudly.
“I don’t know- is Lady Luck on your side?” She retorted.
“I can never tell- she looks an awful lot like you sometimes.”
She laughed it off, seeing a crowd gather in their peripherals.
“So- that what it feels likes to have your Fortune changed. Not quite as natural as I thought.” Polnareff had told her as they left the Black Jack table.
She laughed, counting the chips into the little velvet bag. “I suppose it would feel strange to you. I don’t know I’ve always seen it as a bit boring.”
“Boring? Boring how?”
They watched as the little white ball shot of the table master’s hand, running around the edge of the Roulette wheel. Vera couldn’t be bothered, she was focused on the black seventeen on the wheel. Focusing Fortune’s attention on that.
“As strange as it seems- probability and human choice kind of go hand in hand. One can sometimes influence the other...”
The speed of the ball slowed down, everyone around them held their breath as they waited.
“Sometimes it’s some ingrained instinct for us to go for even numbers- other times it’s a rigged game.”
The ball slipped into the black seventeen.
“But it’s not knowing the outcome that makes Fortune an invisible god.”
She and Polnareff leapt up and hugged each other as the crowd around them either cheered with them or sighed in defeat.
“50K for the duo in black.” The table master slid the chips across the board towards them.
Polnareff’s eyes widened as he pulled the chips closer. “Another game?”
Vera drummed her fingers on his shoulder, making him look up at her. “What do you think, Jean? Another game?”
She squeezed his shoulder just to make sure he understood they won’t be leaving the table. He gazed at her a moment and then turned to the table. “Well I suppose another game couldn’t hurt.”
“Why did you let us lose?” Jean groaned as she split the money into 15K each. Their winnings had decreased after the fifth game of Roulette and then got back to 30K at the slots. “I thought you had full control.”
“I do, and I didn’t let us lose, I made us lose.”
They had just left the casino and was walking back to the hotel- which wasn’t that far.
Polnareff spluttered. “Bu- But why? We could have walked out with millions!”
“From just 3K starting point, wouldn’t they find it awfully suspicious?”
She groaned as she bent down and climbed out of the heals she’d been walking around in all night.
“There have been worse cases, haven’t there? What about people winning the lottery and such.”
Vera looked back at him, his wide blue eyes begging for answers. It made he laugh for a moment. “Jean, you don’t actually think casinos are made for you to win in right? They’ll only let you succeed that much, anything more and we’d be in the interrogation rooms right now. Also-“ she started removing her earrings and slipping them into his suit pocket. “Isn’t 15K enough?”
“Don’t I owe you 3K?”
“No? Where’d you get that?”
“Well you gave the starting bet didn’t you.”
She scoffed, walking away from him. “I couldn’t have done it without you, Jean. You do possess that real entertainer’s talk so... thanks for that.”
“Come on- we need to get back to the hoTEL!”
Polnareff sprinted past her, grabbing her clutch in his hand and stuffing his money into her purse.
“I don’t want to hear another word about this- the money is yours!”
It took a moment for her brain to catch up and when it did she was after him. “Jean! Jean, it was a team effort! The guilt is gonna eat me alive!”
He ran ahead of her- getting much faster simply due to his height. “No no no no no! I won’t hear it!”
“Jean! I’m wearing stockings and a dress! This is not fair!”
��Promise you’ll keep the money!”
“Never!”
She phased him back with Fortune just close enough to hop onto his back- clinging on for dear life. “I told you, I don’t want it.”
“So why make me go in the first place?” He panted, resting his hands on his knees, Vera just hanging onto his back for the ride.
Vera’s breath returned to her, but the answer didn’t. Polnareff waited it out, the silence suddenly becoming oppressive.
“Truth is Vera, I don’t know you very well. And from what I can tell is that you’re not a particularly emotional person.” He put a hand over hers on his shoulder. “But Mr Joestar has told me why Avdol’s death hit you harder than me. I’m so sorry for what you’ve been through. Especially in Pakistan.”
The mere thought of it made her nauseous, her grip on his shoulders loosening. She slid off his back and stood staring at the pavement- hoping she could stop the tears from coming. “I just wanted to take my mind off things. I didn’t care if I was going to pay for it later.”
The admittance felt like it broke a dam behind her eyes. The tears flowing freely. “I’m just so tired.”
Polnareff let her have a moment, her shoulders quietly jerking as she cried. “Do you want to talk about it? I’d love to get to know you a bit better, and not from what other people tell me about you.”
She sniffed, lifting her head to meet his gaze. “Look what you’ve done to me, Jean! My make up is a mess!”
He only laughed, offering her a handkerchief. “Come on, I’ll abba* you home.”
She accepted after wiping away some snot and black stained tears under her eyes.
“So- where should I start?”
Jean only nodded or hummed in understanding as they walked back, not saying much. Vera speaking freely about her life for the first time in a long time.
“Alright, so to summarize- you’ve discovered Fortune can make any probability of their choice come true, you can heal because you can make some time move forward or back, that same time skip thing is also where your phasing ability comes from, and you’re incapable of effecting anything about Dio specifically. Any idea why?”
“I have a suspicion it’s because he changed his own fate with becoming a vampire. Some curses are too ancient for even me to interfere with.”
“Okay so, you’ll have to explain to me again- how does phasing work exactly?”
“Think of it this way- right now, I hold my shoe in my hand.” She lifted up the black stiletto in her hand over his chest. “Now what I do with this shoe depends on what I decide to do with it. I can decide to drop it, toss it up in the air, put it on, give it to someone jogging by- whatever. Once I decide that is the path I want it to experience, all it needs is time to do so. So I decide I’m going to toss it a few feet ahead of us. It’s going to take a few seconds to get there, yes?”
“Yes.”
“So all Fortune does is skip that time and move it straight to the time it will be laying on the floor ahead of us.”
She proved the point by demonstrating. “Got it?”
“Ahhh so THAT’S also how you heal people.”
“Now you get it.” He picked up the shoe and handed it back to her.
“So uhhh... why is it giving you grey hairs?”
Her head turned to press her ear against his back. “Time, it seems, acts a bit like money. To skip the time I have to pay the time. My body basically makes me pay for the months of healing I spare other people.”
“Are you sure? Why is it only showing now?”
“Because of the shock I suppose. I kind of wonder how many years I’ve shaved off my own life at this point. Besides- I think it’s more for moving time forward. Moving time back just gives me bad luck, I think.”
He hummed in understanding. “I see, by the way, how’s your nose?”
“Getting less blue thanks for asking.” She laughed.
The sight of the hotel lobby was her que to hop off and get back into her heels. They walked along the hallways in the hotel once more- exchanging stories of their childhoods before they were back at their doors. She gave a tired goodnight and a thank you but Polnareff called back from his room door. “Vera, I know what the corpses told you must haunt you but- I think your parents would have been proud to see where you are now.”
“Stop making me cry!”
She gave him the most authentic smile she could manage and said. “I think your family would be proud of you too.”
*abba- I might expose myself here but where I’m from, this is what we say when we piggyback someone. It’s the one local slang I think sounds cuter than piggyback lol.

Daichi X Reader

Warning(s) : There’s spoilers (a bit) but it’s safe. I actually wanted to make it as an angst but gave up halfway. I decided to just post this to show how shitty and suck my writing became as I finally realized my assignments are still piling and i’m still procrastinating. Send help please! cause i’m still craving for Haikyuu and desperate for the second half this July!
Clenched fists and sore throats. The game against Shiratorizawa really got you at the edge of your seat, with a tense atmosphere and heavy pants from both sides of the court. You might faint if you stayed seated for any longer as the tension keeps on escalating, with the members trying to score a double point to end the game. Standing up, you went to stand beside Tanaka’s sister while firmly gripping the hem of your shirt. The pressure was evident, easily spotted with only a plain glance towards the prolonged-rally at the court. Everyone was cheering with them all, shouting and hoping for their win when Hinata made his back-attack jump, making the court goes silent.
Received by the opposite’s libero, but it bounced off. Out of the bounds.
There goes it.
Their double point.
The whistle is blown.
21-19, Karasuno against Shiratorizawa.
It’s sealed, finally. They’re going to the Nationals. Weak by the knees, you fall down as you watched your boyfriend hugged his buddies while the juniors just roared with all their might.
“Y/n-chan!!! You okay??? They’ve won the match, now stand up and show yourself! They’re greeting the audience…” Saeko-neesan called to you, pulling you by the arms to help you stand up. Still shocked, you tried to stand up with her help as you feel warm tears on your cheeks.
Nevertheless, you stood up proudly as you overlook each of the members standing at the court facing you. Finally, as your eyes set on Daichi, your eyes just sting all the more as he kept his eyes on you.
“Arigatou Gozaimasu!” They all shout as they bow. While everyone was clearly applauding and congratulated them from the stands, you just sobbed and wiped your eyes harshly after managed to wave at the exhausted captain. Soon after, the ceremony continued as you calmed yourself down. As soon as it was over, you joined Saeko-neesan with the others to meet the team.
“SAWAMURA, YOU PRICK!” From a distance you hollered his name while sprinting towards him, attacking him with a punch to his stomach and bone-breaking hug afterward. For a girl shorter than him to punch him, you sure are packed with strength as he grunted from the punch and reciprocated your affection.
“You do realize that we’ve just done playing 5 sets of the game, right?” He asked, putting his chin on top of your head as you hugged. The realization hits you.
“…Congratulations. And I love you, too~” You said, muffling your voice on his body before you released him and skipped towards the coach, followed by Shimizu. Forcefully, you poked his sides, making him yelp in front of Takeda-sensei. Annoyed, he turned to look at you as he put on his angered face.
“What was that for?!” He glowered, and much more annoyed when he saw you raising your eyebrows in a playful manner. Shimizu was about to ask when Koushi went to your side, interrupting the silent conversation.
“Coach, can (Y/n) join us on the bus later? It’ll be fun to have her around…especially for the captain who lost his tooth yesterday…” Koushi asked, poking fun at the captain when he’s not listening.
“Since she’s practically our third manager, and helps with the training…” Shimizu pointed out, also trying to help you to join them later.
It’s true though. You’re in the same class as Shimizu, and you've been helping her manage the team from behind since there’s a lot of things to do if Shimizu did it all alone. With the cute new manager, the workload has somehow decreased so you’ve been helping them a lot less than before. But with the new members and their abilities that are to be reckoned, the team had made an explosive comeback and of course, the workload increased again. Not that you wanted to complain. From those workloads, you got yourself a boyfriend. It’s a win-win situation. You get to help your friend manage the team, you get yourself a guy.
When your brother knew about it, all hell breaks loose. He’s a doting brother, alright. And he’s also the coach of the team. Damn your luck. Keishin glared at your boyfriend whenever you came to the court to visit Shimizu and Hitoka, which is all the time. And your luck was just getting started.
You were playing with the kids that same to your gramps’ house to learn volleyball when your brother dragged Hinata there. You were supposed to be playing just for fun when the old man decided to ask you to teach him. There goes your playtime because now it’s time to start throwing balls and lecturing Hinata about tempo.
The next day, your brother shocked you when he asked you to come to the gym when it’s practice time. He hates that you came there all the time, to meet your boyfriend that he didn’t know existed. Suddenly, now he wanted you to come? This is, what we call bad omen.
“Since your brats are familiar with her, starting today, she’ll be the assistant coach. So I expect full cooperation and professionalism.” Keishin highlighted the last words while looking at Sawamura. You were about to object when your brother cut you.
“At least this helps your skills to not be forgotten… Since you know how to play but decided to not play. And also, Gramps actually agreed with me, for the first time ever!”
And that’s how you started to help the team with receives and serves. All that mess, and now you’re sitting beside your boyfriend as he chowed on the food with the others. Your brother is busy talking with Sensei about the improvements and hardships to come while the energetic four sleep through the dinner, too tired to even lift the chopsticks. Slowly, you excused yourself and went out of the shop to enjoy the view outside.
Orange-painted sky with crows cawing from afar, you sat outside the store as you looked at the sky wondering about yourself.
“You should at least eat first…” a gentle voice rings your ears as you felt a solid arm wrapped itself around your shoulder. Sawamura was getting himself comfortable, scuttled a little beside you before sitting still with his arm around you.
“Well… I’m not really hungry. But for you, you should at least rest and eat inside” You mumbled when you saw two piece of fried shrimp he was holding with his arm that was around you. He waved the shrimps in front of you, a signal to tell you to eat it. You pulled one of it with your mouth and chewed it slowly when he releases his hold on the one you’re chewing on. He retracted his arm and took the shrimp to his mouth, then slings it back to your shoulder. Both of you just enjoy the shrimp while looking at the colorful horizon.
“So…what made my girlfriend furrowed her eyebrows for a while now?” Sawamura asked, breaking the silence after a while. He looked straight at you, while you glanced at him from the corner of your eyes, not really in the mood to look at him. You just continued to look at the sky, staying silent to think about your answer.
You don’t even know why are you like this. Looking at the sunset, you didn’t really feel bothered or whatever. So when your boyfriend mentioned your furrowed eyebrows, you started to think. You started to think about the unpredictable future. The chances of winning. Tiring practices. Exams. Universities. Lives after highschool. Your boyfriend. You’re not actually bothered by anything until he mentioned about your mood today. And you’re not trying to say it’s his fault that you’re actually started to feel anxious about the future when he asked you just now. Thinking about everything, now you actually furrowed your eyebrows on your own accord while gazing at the sunset.
Maybe, the sunset has this tremendous power to make people think about everything. Who knows?
Looking at your crinkled forehead, Sawamura pecked your cheek.
“There go those eyebrows again… Now, care to tell your boyfriend?” He asked again, much softer than before, whispering to you before laying his head on your shoulder.
“…It’s nothing, actually. I was just thinking about the future…” you spoke softly, to match his previous tone of asking. Breeze danced through your hair, making the stray ones goes wild on your head, fluttering like dead leaves.
“So you’ve been thinking about the future…why?” He inquired, confused about what had caused you to think that.
“Hmm… sunset? I’m not sure… I’m not actually thinking about anything before. But, when you said my eyebrows are crinkled and furrowed…then I started to think about the future…” I said, while fixing my hair, “what will happen after this? You’ll be busy with the Nationals… then there are exams… how will our future play out? What will happen to us? Everything is so uncertain it makes you wonder… out of every situation played on your mind, which one will be the reality??”
Silence. Sawamura was just steadily breathing beside you that you would’ve thought that he fell asleep as you blabbered about your sudden thoughts if not for his chuckle.
“Haha, you’re being extra sentimental today…” He answered, slowly moving his arm from your shoulder and it slithered back to your waist, followed by his other arm. “Yes, the future is uncertain. We’ll never know what will happen. But, make sure that you remember this… I’m always here for you.” He remarked as he tightens his hug on me, kissing my cheek on the process.
“Hey, I told you to rest. Not to hug my sister in the public!” Your brother growled as both of you heard the sound of the shoji screen being pulled.
“Sorry coach, but I need this…” Your boyfriend answered cheekily at Keishin as you just giggled.

Tomorrow
“Y/n… there’s a red spot on your skirt…” Shimizu whispered to you, before stealthily passing you the pad as she put it inside your blazer pocket. You were about to sit when Shimizu stopped you, forcing you to stand up again. You guys were at the cafeteria and Daichi definitely saw the thing slipped to your pocket.
“That explains your mood yesterday…” He said shyly. Embarrassed, you take off your blazer to tie it on your waist as you walked hastily towards the nearest toilet.

.
“Y/n, faster now… or we’ll be late to meet the others.” Daichi said as he pulled you forward, dragging your slow footsteps to meet Koushi and Azumane. Soon, you saw both of your old friends standing in front of you as Koushi and Azumane are currently shaking their hands according to their ‘non-existent secret handshake’.
“Ohh, it looks like our petshop owner came waltzing at us with the police officer clinging to her…” Koushi cooed at you as he pointed at both your hands, linking together, tight like glue.
“Shut it, you,” I said while slapping his hands. He pouted from the contact as Azumane just laughed at our antics since it’s been a while since all of us are gathered together like this.
“Now, let’s go find seats before there’s none left… I believe none of us wanted to miss this match” Daichi said in his typical-team-captain tone, tugging at me so that I can start walking. Soon after, four of us are struggling to get past the sea of humans to watch the battle of our beloved juniors.

THE TREBLE VS THE BELLA Chapter 3
It was the day of the Regionals, and Beca was a bit nervous. They had a good set with some decent choreography, and Jesse was given one of the lead vocal spots; Beca was proud of him.
The Treblemakers were announced and went running up on to the stage and got into position. Beca looked back and saw the Bellas all come running in a bit late.
The Trebles did the song Right Round, and the audience loved it. Beca couldn't help the smile that was plastered on her face when they finished, and the crowd rose to their feet cheering and clapping.
They left the stage and stood to the side of the auditorium as the Bellas were announced. Beca had to admit that their outfits looked a bit like flight attendant uniforms. She heard some of the Trebles make rude comments about joining the mile-high club with a few of them, especially Chloe and Stacie.
Beca backhanded Jesse's chest when he laughed, too. Jesse muttered an "ow" and stepped away from her, rubbing his chest where she smacked him.
Beca didn't like the way Jesse was around these guys. They had both been asked to move into the Trebles house, but Beca refused to live with a bunch of guys, especially those guys. Jesse moved in, and Beca tried to spend time with him, but she made sure it was somewhere other than the Trebles house.
Beca watched the Bellas do their act, and she could distinctly hear Chloe's voice. She had an excellent voice; it was too bad that it wasn't being utilized fully. Maybe Aubrey cared enough to keep things easy for Chloe because of her nodes.
Beca also picked up a soulful voice that she attributed to Cynthia Rose. Again, another voice not being utilized to its full potential.
Beca noticed that Aubrey's face was a bit pinched. Aubrey was glaring at Fat Amy who Beca could only guess wasn't doing her part exactly as Aubrey had ordered. Too bad Aubrey doesn't seem to notice that folks actually perked up when Fat Amy did her solo.
The Bellas finished their set, and the audience applauded; nothing like they did when the Trebles finished but still they applauded. The Bellas came off the stage and up the aisle past the Trebles.
Beca smirked and looked at Chloe using her hands to make a heart shape and moving her hands back and forth from her chest. "This was great," she mouthed. Chloe looked upset, and she then noticed Aubrey behind Chloe, glaring at her; she winked at them just to rile them up before looking back to the stage.
The Trebles were announced as the winners, and they all went up to the stage to get the trophy. Beca was smiling the whole time, and Jesse threw his arms around her shoulders as they exited the stage.
Beca was surprised that the Bellas took second place. Although, to be honest, they were better than most of the other groups that had performed.
Beca stopped to use the restroom before heading out to the lobby to meet the guys. When she got out there, the Bellas were standing on the stairs right outside the door watching a fight unfold in front of them. She looked and some of the Trebles, including Jesse, were arguing with some older guys.
Beca saw Jesse holding their trophy while arguing with one of the guys; then Fat Amy left the Bellas and walked over to where Jesse was. Amy somehow had the trophy and was going to "shove it up his bum."
Seeing all this, Beca decided it was time to intervene. She put her hand on the small of Chloe's back, mumbling an 'excuse me' as she made her way between Aubrey and Chloe.
Chloe felt a shiver go down her back when Beca touched her. She bit her lip as she watched Beca pass in front of her.
"God," Chloe thought. "Why does the one person who makes her react to a touch like that have to be a Treble?"
Chloe watched as Beca made her way over to Jesse and Fat Amy. The guy Jesse was arguing with got in Jesse's face, and Beca hit him, knocking him down. Fat Amy kicked him in the groin, and the guy kept asking for more. Fat Amy yelled something again about sticking the trophy up the guy's bum.
Chloe put her hand to her forehead and looked at Aubrey. Beca grabbed the trophy and tried to take it away from Fat Amy.
Suddenly, the sound of glass shattering echoed around the lobby. Chloe watched in shock as everyone ran off in different directions. She caught sight of Fat Amy running away through a door, yelling something about vertical running. Beca was the only one left standing in the middle of the lobby, holding a piece of the trophy in her hands, looking through the glassless gap in the window as a cop approached.
"Oh, my God," Chloe mumbled.
Chloe felt terrible that Beca was the only one who was arrested. Fat Amy had caused the trophy to go through the window, and the other Treblemakers and the Tonehangers were the ones fighting. The glass breaking was an accident, but the cop didn't want to hear it. As Beca was placed in handcuffs, Jesse was trying to reassure her that he would be right behind her.
Chloe continued to watch as Beca was led away. Beca didn't look scared; Beca looked pissed.
Aubrey rounded up the Bellas, including Fat Amy, and ushered them to the bus. They left, and Chloe had a knot in her stomach from worrying if Jesse would able to bail Beca out of jail.
"Why is what's happening to Beca bothering me so much?" she thought.
~oOo~ The Treble vs The Bella ~oOo~
The Bellas make it back to campus, and everyone gets off the bus. Stacie looked around for a moment, chewing on her bottom lip before making a decision.
"Hey, Chloe," Stacie called getting the redhead's attention. "Can I talk to you for a minute?"
"Sure, Stacie," Chloe said. "Brey, I'll see you back at the apartment."
Aubrey nodded her head and yelled out a reminder to all the girls about Bellas practice early the next morning. Several groans were heard as the girls continued on their way.
Chloe watched until the girls were far enough away before speaking to Stacie. "What do you need, Stacie?"
"I, um," Stacie said. "Okay, so you can't tell Aubrey what I'm about to tell you. Okay?"
"Stacie," Chloe said. "She's my best friend. We don't keep secrets from each other."
"This has to do with the Bellas," Stacie said. "And you said that we could confide in you or Aubrey about anything and it would be kept between us. Right?"
"We did," Chloe said. She took in a deep breath and let out a heavy sigh. "Okay, I promise I won't say anything to Aubrey. Now, what's going on?"
"I've been hanging out with Beca," Stacie said.
"Beca Mitchell?"
"Yeah. I really like Beca. We have a couple of classes together, and ever since Hood Night when she helped me back to my dorm, we've become study buddies and friends."
"Okay." Chloe felt something in the pit of her stomach. Were they really just friends or were they hooking up? And if they were, why was she feeling like this? It almost felt like she was...jealous.
"Anyway," Stacie continued. "I want to wait in her room for her to get back to make sure she's okay. I was wondering if you wanted to wait with me?"
"What?" Chloe asked. "Why would I want to wait for her?"
"I saw the look of guilt on your face when Beca was arrested. Fat Amy broke that window, and she didn't get arrested. And none of the guys involved in the fight got arrested either. I just thought you might want to check on Beca with me as a courtesy."
Chloe was worried about Beca. She also knew that Aubrey would use this incident to escalate the feud between the Bellas and the Trebles.
~oOo~ The Treble vs The Bella ~oOo~
"Hey, Hilary Swank from Million Dollar Baby," Jesse said as Beca walked out of the police station.
"You could have just said Million Dollar Baby," Beca said. "You didn't have to reference the actress' name."
"Damn, prison has changed you," Jesse said, causing Beca to laugh.
"Thanks for bailing me out," Beca said.
"I didn't," Jesse said.
"Beca!" a voice called out, and Beca cringed as she stopped and glared at Jesse.
"You called Dad!?"
"It looked serious, Beca. They took you away in handcuffs."
"That doesn't mean you call Dad. God, Jesse!"
"Why are you yelling at me?" Jesse asked. "I'm the only one here."
"I didn't ask you to be," Beca said.
"I'm your brother," Jesse said. "I was trying to look out for you."
Beca turned away from Jesse to face her father.
"Get in the car," Warren Swanson said. "Both of you."
"You're not even going to listen to my side?" Beca asked as she walked to the car.
"Not tonight," Warren said.
Beca climbed into the back of the car and Jesse took the passenger seat. Warren got behind the wheel and sighed.
"I'm very disappointed in you, Beca," Warren said. "I can't believe I got a call in the middle of the night telling me my daughter had been arrested for destruction of property."
"Oh, so now you remember I'm your daughter," Beca snorted. "Where was this concern for the past ten years?"
"That's not fair, Beca," Warren said.
"What's not fair is you not listening to my side of what happened tonight," Beca said. "For your information, it wasn't my fault. The window got broken while I was trying to protect your precious Jesse from getting his ass kicked."
Warren looked over at Jesse who nodded, letting him know what Beca said was true. Warren sighed again and ran a hand through his hair. He started to speak, but Beca beat him to it.
"You want to know what else is not fair? You telling Jesse I was lying about mom's drinking and beating me because you were afraid that if it were true, you'd actually have to take me in," Beca said. "What's not fair is you talking my grandmother into forcing me to come to college when I had other plans. You made everyone think you made this noble gesture by paying for me to go to college, but it does not cost you a dime because Jesse and I are your kids and you work there, so we get free tuition. So, don't talk to me about what's fair."
Beca stared out the window and quickly wiped a tear from her eye.
Jesse cleared his throat and looked at his dad.
Warren took a deep breath but didn't say anything. He started the car and made the quiet drive back to Barden's campus.
Beca jumped out of the car as soon as it stopped outside her dorm. She slammed the door and didn't say anything to her father or Jesse. She stomped off toward her dorm.
Jesse jumped out and ran after her. He caught up to her and grabbed her arm to stop her.
"Beca, wait," Jesse said.
"No," Beca said, jerking her arm out of Jesse's grasp. "You don't get to pull this bullshit and expect me to be okay with it. I told you before, I didn't want to see our father, and now I'm telling you I don't want to see either one of you. Leave me alone! The only time I will speak to you is if we are at Trebles rehearsal or a Trebles event AND only in the context of the Trebles. Understood?"
"Beca, come on," Jesse said pleadingly. "You don't mean that."
"Let's go, Jesse!" Warren yelled from the car.
"I do mean it, and you'd better go," Beca said. "You don't want to keep your wonderful, loving father waiting."
Beca turned and walked away from Jesse without another word.
~oOo~ The Treble vs The Bella ~oOo~
Beca wiped at the tears on her face as she made her way to her dorm room. She entered her room and was shocked to see Chloe and Stacie sitting on her bed. They both jumped up when they saw Beca.
"How the fuck did you two get in here?" she asked, her voice still laced with anger.
"Uh, your roommate let us in before she left," Stacie said hesitantly. "I, um, we wanted to make sure you were okay."
"As you can see, I'm fine," Beca spat out. "You can leave now."
Beca held the door open to them and waited.
"Um, before we go I just wanted to apologize for what happened," Chloe said nervously. "You should not have been the only one arrested, and for that, I am deeply sorry."
"Is that it?" Beca asked jaw clenched.
"Yeah, um, that's it," Chloe said.
"Fine," Beca said. "You can leave now. Wouldn't want you getting caught fraternizing with a Treble would we?"
Beca moved away from the door and went to lay down on her bed. She turned on her side, facing the wall with her back to Stacie and Chloe.
Chloe and Stacie looked at each other, unsure of what to do.
"Let's give her some room," Stacie whispered. "I'll check on her later."
Chloe nodded, and the two Bellas walked to the door. Chloe knew that Beca had been crying and looked back to check on her one more time before leaving and quietly closing the door behind them.
As soon as she heard the door close, Beca looked over her shoulder to make sure they had both left. Once she was sure she was alone in the room, she let the tears she had been holding back fall.
~oOo~ The Treble vs The Bella ~oOo~
Beca was awake early the next morning, after not having slept more than a few hours. She was thankful to have woken to find a text from Bumper canceling Trebles rehearsal that day since they won the night before. She could avoid seeing or talking to Jesse for a bit longer.
Beca was sitting on her bed with her laptop on her thighs, trying to finish the Philosophy paper that was due in a week. She had only two of the required ten pages written.
Beca looked up when she heard a soft knock at the door. She sighed as she got up and answered the door since her roommate wasn't home. She wasn't surprised to see Stacie standing in front of her.
"Hey," Stacie said. "Um, I was wondering if I could study here since my roommate has some friends in our room."
"Sure, come on in," Beca said and stepped aside.
Stacie walked in and set herself up at the end of Beca's bed. "Are you okay? You seemed really upset when you got back last night."
"I'm sorry I was rude to you and Chloe," Beca said as she sat. "I was touched that you guys waited for me."
"What happened after the cops took you away?"
"Jesse called his father to bail me out," Beca said. "I yelled at his father, and then I yelled at Jesse. We're currently not speaking."
"Why do you do that?" Stacie asked. "Why do you refer to your dad as 'his father' when you're talking about Jesse and your dad?"
Beca gave a short laugh. She felt comfortable around Stacie and told her about her dad leaving and taking Jesse, her mom becoming an alcoholic, even about the drunken beatings her mom inflicted on her.
"How old were you when your dad and Jesse left?"
"Eight. Jesse and I weren't just brother and sister," Beca said. "We were best friends. It really hurt when he cut me out of his life like my dad did. I forgave him for doing it, but I can't forget he did it."
Stacie pulled Beca into a hug. "I'm sorry you had to go through all that."
"Yeah, well, shit happens," Beca said, pulling away from Stacie. "Um, did Chloe get mad at you because you wanted to come here and wait for me? I know it had to be your idea and she's all into the Trebles and Bellas not fraternizing thing. I don't want to cause you any trouble because we're friends."
"No," Stacie said. "And she promised not to say anything to Aubrey about us hanging out."
"That was nice of her," Beca said with a small smile.
"You like her, don't you?"
"What? Pffft! No."
"You do," Stacie said and smiled. "I can tell. I think she likes you, too. I notice she always looking at you whenever we're in the same place."
"She's a Bella, and I'm a Treble," Beca said. "And Chloe abides by the Bellas rules because what Aubrey says, Chloe follows."
"Maybe," Stacie said with a smirk. "But you do like her."
"Whatever," Beca said and went back to working on her paper. After a few minutes, Beca looked at Stacie and asked, "Has Aubrey or Chloe told you girls why the no Trebles rule even exists?"
"No," Stacie said. "We've asked, but Aubrey always says the reason is not important. It is a Bellas rule, and we must follow it. Has Bumper told you anything?"
"No," Beca said. "And none of the Trebles seem to care. They don't have a rule about fraternizing with the Bellas. They get their kicks by trying to find ways to get a Bella to sleep with them to get them kicked out."
Beca stopped and chewed on her bottom lip. She was debating whether to tell Stacie about the hidden camera the Trebles had in the Bellas rehearsal space.
"Hey, Stace," Beca said, causing her to look up. "I need to tell you something, but you can't tell anyone I'm the one who told you. No one. Can you promise me?"
"Okay," Stacie said. "I promise. What is it?"
"The Trebles have a hidden camera in the Bellas rehearsal space," Beca said.
"What?" Stacie said, sitting up straighter on the bed.
"Yeah," Beca said. "Bumper told us about it when he was watching your first rehearsal and celebrating that two of your girls were kicked out because of the Trebles. I didn't like it then, and I still don't like it. It feels like we're cheating or something."
"Do you know where it is?" Stacie asked.
"Not exactly," Beca said. "But, from the angle, it looked like it might be somewhere in the corner near the door. I wanted to say something sooner, but I didn't think anyone would believe me. Plus, I do feel some loyalty to the Trebles, even if most of them are douchebags."
"I have to tell Aubrey and Chloe," Stacie said. "I just have to figure out a way to notice the camera or something."
"Maybe you can find it accidentally," Beca said. "If that doesn't work, maybe you can say you overheard someone talking about it and you weren't sure if it was true or not. Then they'll start looking for it."
"I like that idea," Stacie said. "I'll just say I overheard someone talking about it at the diner, but I didn't recognize who it was."
"Good," Beca said and pulled her laptop back to her and started typing.
"Thanks, Beca," Stacie said. "I'm sure that Aubrey and Chloe will appreciate it even if they don't know you're the one who told."
"Somehow, I find that highly unlikely," Beca said.
~oOo~ The Treble vs The Bella ~oOo~
Later that afternoon, Stacie got to practice early and hung around the door in the corner as she discreetly looked for the camera. She saw it and motioned for Aubrey and Chloe to come over.
"What's up, Stacie?" Chloe asked.
Stacie put a finger to her lips and shushed her. She then pointed to the camera. Aubrey and Chloe looked to see what she was pointing to and gasped.
"Where did that come from?" Aubrey whispered.
Stacie then said she 'overheard' someone talking about the Trebles having a camera in the Bellas rehearsal space. She didn't believe it but decided to look for it anyway.
"I'm going to rip it out," Aubrey whispered.
Before she yanked it off the top of the door, Aubrey stood on a chair and looked directly into the camera.
"I guess you dick-licks aren't as smart as you thought," she said and yanked the camera from its hiding place.
"Dammit!" Bumper yelled as he slammed his laptop closed. "Someone had to tell them it was there. Which one of you morons told one of the Bellas about it? Confess now because it will be way worse on you if I have to find out for myself."
Beca didn't say anything. She and the Trebles all looked around at each other; no one admitted to saying anything.
"What difference does it make, Bumper?" Jesse asked. "Watching them sit around and do exercises or running laps is not my idea of a good time."
"We have to stay one step ahead of them," Bumper said. "The camera tapes everything and saves it. I can sit down later and watch to see if they finally change anything. We cannot let those bitches beat us."
"Hey!" Beca said. "I don't like when jerks like you call women bitches, so knock it off."
"Or what?" Bumper asked with a sneer. "I can kick you out and then what will you do?"
"Go tell the Bellas everything and become one of them," Beca shot back.
"You can't do that," Jesse said. "She won't do that."
"Don't bet on it," Beca said.
"It was you," Donald accused. "You're the one who told them about the camera."
"It wasn't me," Beca said, trying to maintain her cool. "I had no idea where the camera was hidden. Maybe you should look at someone who actually knew where you hid the camera."
Bumper furrowed his brow and then looked at Donald and Uni. "You two are the only ones who knew where the camera was. Who did you tell?"
"You knew where it was, too, and you've been banging Fat Amy," Donald yelled back. "You probably told her, and she told Pukesen."
"I did no such thing," Bumper yelled.
The rest of the Trebles jumped in and started arguing.
"This is ridiculous," Beca mumbled, unable to handle the yelling, and left.
~oOo~ The Treble vs The Bella ~oOo~
After Stacie left Bellas practice, Chloe called out to her. Stacie stopped and waited for the redhead to catch up with her.
"What's up, Chloe?" Stacie asked. "I'm going to the diner. Care to join me?"
"Sure," Chloe said, and the two started walking.
"So, what's on that pretty little mind of yours?" Stacie asked.
"I've noticed you and Beca hanging out a lot more," Chloe said as she looked at Stacie. "Are you, um, are you two hooking up?"
"What?" Stacie said. "No. I told you, Chloe, we're just friends."
"Is she the one who told you about the camera?" Chloe asked. "Tell me the truth because I could tell by the way you were acting it wasn't something you overheard."
Stacie stopped and looked at Chloe. She then looked around before returning her gaze to Chloe.
"I can't tell you," Stacie said. "I made a promise."
"I'm going to take that as a yes," Chloe said with a sigh. "Why would Beca tell you? What's her scheme? Are the Trebles planning something to sabotage the Bellas?"
"God, Chloe," Stacie said, getting frustrated. "You're getting to be as bad as Aubrey. I fell into that trap, too, but realized that Beca is not like the rest of the Trebles. She really is a good person. Yeah, she's the one who told me about the camera. She told me because she said it felt like they were cheating and she didn't want to be a part of it."
Stacie crossed her arms over her chest and looked around again.
"Look," Stacie said. "I don't know what it is with you and Aubrey and this Bellas code thing, but not all the Trebles are jerks. Maybe if you guys told us why you hate them so much, we could figure out a way to end this feud or whatever you want to call it. I like hanging out with Beca. She cares about what happens to me, even to the Bellas. She's funny, sarcastic, and has great taste in music. You should hear some of the mixes she makes; they're some of the best I've ever heard. I consider her one of my best friends, and I don't want to lose her friendship over some feud I know nothing about."
Chloe ran a hand through her hair. "I'm sorry. I just-." Chloe looked around at nothing in particular before saying, "Do you still want to get something to eat?"
Stacie nodded her head, and the two walked quietly to the diner, each lost in their own thoughts.
~oOo~ The Treble vs The Bella ~oOo~
After Beca left the Trebles, she went back to her dorm. She stopped at Stacie's room to see if she was back from rehearsal, and there was no answer. It was close to dinner time, so Beca decided to leave and go to the diner to grab something to eat.
Beca walked into the diner and saw Stacie and Chloe. She turned to leave so Chloe wouldn't see her.
"Beca!" Stacie called out, causing Beca to turn around. She saw Stacie motioning her over with her hand.
Beca sighed and wouldn't look at Chloe as she made her way over to their table.
"Hey," Beca said to Stacie as she stood by the table.
"Sit down, Beca," Stacie said. "We want to talk to you."
Beca finally glanced at Chloe and saw Chloe nervously looking back at her. She sighed and sat next to Stacie.
"What's up?"
Chloe and Stacie looked at Beca and then at each other. Beca saw Stacie raise an eyebrow toward Chloe, and turned her head towards the redhead.
Chloe ran a hand through her hair and sighed. "Um, I just wanted to thank you for telling Stacie about the camera. She didn't say it was you that told, but I figured it out."
Beca shot a look at Stacie. "I told her you thought it was cheating and didn't want to be a part of it."
"Look, Beca," Chloe said, getting her attention. "I'm sorry for everything. It's just. Aubrey's been my best friend for a long time. She's stubborn and won't let this Treble thing go. I don't like it, but I can't go against her. I'm sorry that you're caught up in it."
Beca looked at Chloe and suddenly stood and hurried away from the table toward the restrooms. Stacie and Chloe both had a WTF look on their faces.
They both jumped when they heard Aubrey say, "Hey, Chlo, why didn't you tell me you were coming to the diner? We could have come over together."
"Um, it was, uh," Chloe stammered, as she looked towards where Beca went. "It was a spur of the moment thing. Why don't you join us?"
"Thanks," Aubrey said and sat next to Chloe.
"Well, well, well," Beca said as she neared their table. "If it isn't the Head Bitch, oh, sorry. The Head Bella and her minions."
"Go away, Mitchell," Aubrey said. "You're making me lose my appetite."
"I'll go," Beca said. "But only because you asked so nicely."
As Beca walked away, she heard Aubrey say, "She gets on my nerves."
Beca turned back and saw Stacie looking at her. She smiled and gave her a wink to let her know all was good.
Forty-five minutes later, Aubrey left the other two to go to the library to study. Stacie and Chloe remained and continued talking.
"What's up with Beca?" Chloe asked. "I apologized, and she just up and left the table. And then she called Aubrey a bitch before she left."
"Beca helped us dodge a bullet," Stacie said.
"What do you mean?" Chloe asked.
"She left the table because she saw Aubrey coming in," Stacie said. "She left so Aubrey wouldn't see us sitting here with her. She was trying to protect us from getting yelled at."
"Maybe," Chloe said. "But she still called Aubrey a bitch, and I didn't like it."
"She was playing the part of a Treble," Stacie said. "What do you think Aubrey would have done if Beca had come over and said hello and been nice to us?"
"Honestly," Chloe said. "She would have blown a gasket."
"Exactly," Stacie said. "Beca said and did all that to keep that from happening. I wish you could see she's actually a nice person and stop treating her like the rest of the Trebles."
"You're right," Chloe said. "I'm sorry, but whenever I look at her I hear Aubrey's voice saying, stay away, she's a Treble and can't be trusted."
"I told you," Stacie said. "Beca's good people. Stop listening to Aubrey, and stop looking at Beca like a Treble, and more like, like a Beca. You might find that you like her even more than you already do."
"What?!" Chloe exclaimed. "I do not like Beca. At all."
"Your mouth may deny it," Stacie said. "But, your eyes say otherwise."
~oOo~ The Treble vs The Bella ~oOo~
Stacie and Beca were studying a few days later, when Stacie looked at Beca and said, "Chloe likes you."
"What?" Beca said. "No, she doesn't."
"She says she doesn't," Stacie said. "But she sure looks at you like she does."
"Doubtful," Beca said. "And even if that were true, nothing will ever happen between us."
"We need to end this feud," Stacie said. "The whole thing is beyond ridiculous."
"What are you going to do?" Beca asked as she looked up from her laptop.
"I don't know," Stacie said. "Maybe I'll try to talk to Chloe about it again."
"Good luck with that," Beca said as she went back to studying.
~oOo~ The Treble vs The Bella ~oOo~
Later that day, Beca's phone pinged as she walked out of the radio station. She pulled out her phone and looked down and suddenly found herself on the ground.
"Oh, my God," a voice said. "I'm so sorry."
Beca looked up and found herself staring into a pair of bright blue eyes. She blinked once or twice and then chuckled as she started to stand. "Were you trying to kill me and get rid of the competition?"
Chloe blushed and looked at Beca to find her smiling at her. "Sorry."
"It's okay," Beca said, looking around for her phone.
Beca and Chloe saw Beca's phone at the same time and bent down to retrieve it. They both pulled back when they bumped heads together.
"Ow," Chloe and Beca both said as they stood with a hand to their heads.
They both started to lean down again. Beca held her hand up to Chloe and said, "Wait. I got it."
Chloe stood up straight and let Beca retrieve her phone.
"I am sorry," Chloe said.
"It's okay," Beca replied with a smile. "It was my fault; I wasn't paying attention to where I was going."
Chloe stared at Beca's smile and bit her bottom lip. "I, um, I was actually coming to talk to you."
"How did you know I'd be here?" Beca asked.
"Stacie told me," Chloe said. "I wanted to talk to you about something. Can we, um, can we go to your dorm and talk?"
"What?" Beca said. "You want to talk to me? Is this a trick? Or a set-up?"
Beca looked around to see if Aubrey was lurking close by.
"No," Chloe said quickly. "I wanted to know if I could listen to some of your mixes. Stacie talks about how good they are, and I thought I might get some inspiration and come up with something new to try with the Bellas. And, maybe you could show me how to come up with something."
"Really?"
"Yeah. I know our set is outdated and needs something to get us noticed."
"And, you're asking me, a Treble, for help?" Beca asked. "It seems to me you're asking me to go against my own team."
"I know it's out of the blue," Chloe said. "But we want to win. And from what Stacie said, your mixes are really good and not something the Trebles would use. I'm not asking you to tell us what the Trebles are going to do, just maybe give me some ideas to help make the Bellas better." Chloe stopped and furrowed her brow. "Oh, God, it does sound like I'm asking you to go against the Trebles. Never mind. I'm sorry I bothered you."
Chloe apologized again and started to walk away.
"I may have just the thing for the Bellas," Beca called out, causing Chloe to stop and turn around. "I could even give you some ideas on who should sing what part."
"Whoa," Chloe said. "I'll be lucky if I can get Brey to listen to it. I'm pretty sure she won't like me telling her who should sing what part."
"I thought you were the Co-Captain," Beca said. "Wouldn't deciding what parts went to who be part of your job?"
Chloe sighed and ran a hand through her hair. She knew Beca was right, but she had spent the past few years going along with Aubrey to avoid fighting with her.
"It's not that simple," Chloe said.
"It could be," Beca countered.

It’s Just A Name
Summary: When Max’s home life finally comes to Camp Campbell, with the excuse that they showed up for Parents Day. But that was many weeks ago. So why are they really here?

Chapter Two: Introductions
Outside of the mess hall, the sound of confused and excited campers grew louder. “I need to hide now!” yelled Max. David kept his grip on the kid as Max attempted to wriggle out, “Now Max. We should go greet your mother! She’s clearly here to see you! Why else would she be here? She probably misses her little man!” The only people left in the mess hall where David, Gwen, Quartermaster, Nikki, Neil, and Max. “Let go David!” yelled Max, “She’s probably here for something. Probably to make me or everyone else miserable.” Nikki and Neil left the building followed by Gwen and Quartermaster. David followed them with Max still in his arms but Max wasn’t making it easy for David.
There were three vehicles outside. The closest one to the mess hall was a small, beaten up, two-door, tan, car. It looked like it barely ran. The next vehicle was a large bus, it was a half-repainted school bus. It was still mostly the original yellow but toward the end were paintings of horses. In the middle of the bus was multiple horseshoe shapes all in different colors. There was an abstract race track wrapping around the bus. In the back of the small caravan was a large black SUV with black tinted windows. Max continued to struggle, trying to get out of David’s hands. “Max?” said Neil, “Does your mom have a thing for horses?”
Cameron rubbed his hands together, “It looks like little Mattie has a little money to his name.” Nobody responded to Cameron. Gwen’s eyes were wide and sparkling, “Do you not know who this bus belongs?!” Gwen gasped and didn’t wait for anyone to respond, “It belongs to the world renown horse breeder and racer! Her purebred horses can make millions of dollars by just people looking at them. She’s also in multiple reality tv shows! She was the Bachelorette about nine years ago, she was the winner of Big Brother a few years ago, she had a wardrobe malfunction on that one talent show when she was a judge on it last year, and she’s currently the biggest star on the Real Housewives of-”  Max finally got free from David, “Yeah and she started her trashy career twenty-ish years ago on Maury. It’s all she cares about! So, if I just hide, she will leave sooner,” said Max as he turns to leave. Gwen grabs him and holds him in place, “No you don’t you little shit. Put on a good face and maybe I can get a pic with her-“ David and Max both raised their eyebrows at the other camp counselor. Gwen stuttered, “I mean money for the camp?” David sighed and shook his head, “Come on Max! That can’t be true! I mean she is here to visit you right?”
Finally, two bodyguards emerge from the black SUV that was behind the bus. They stood in front of the bus doors. Then two people step out of the beat-up car upfront. One was a woman, possibly in her mid-twenties, her skin was somewhat tan. She carried a clipboard that had way too many papers on it. She was wearing a pastel green button up blouse, a white skirt and brown mary jane heels. Her black hair was pulled back into a messy bun on top of her head and had a pen holding it up.  The other person that stepped out of the same car was an older man, about a head shorter than the girl, he wore a dark blue jumpsuit with a pair of bright yellow boots with a matching baseball cap. The two stood in front of the bodyguards.
“Hello everyone!” said the girl way to cheery, “My name is Layla-Rae. I am an assistant to Max’s mother. And this,” she points to the man next to her, “Is Mr. Walter. He takes care of the general needs of Max’s mother’s horses.” Mr. Walter grunted but didn’t add anything to the speech. Layla-Rae sighed and her smile faltered a bit but she went back to her overly cheery speech with an overly cheerful smile plastered on her face, “Which she brought 11 of her horses here today to show you all! Any questions from anyone before I introduce her?” Almost everyone, except for Max, raised their hand, “Great! Now introducing the legendary horse breeder, trainer, and racer Ms. Devi. Or Max’s mom.”
Layla-Rae and Mr. Walter step to the side as a very tall woman comes out of the bus, followed by one large horse. The woman shared the same sunshade colored skin as Max, as well as the black hair. Her hair was down to her waist and straight. The horse next to her was pure white, just as tall as Devi and very muscular. Ten other horses stick their heads out of the bus windows. Devi wore a hot pink t-shirt with black skinny jeans and a pair of tall hot pink platform shoes, making her another two or three inches taller. “Hello everyone! I am little Maximiliano’s mother or you may also know me as Devi! The star of multiple reality shows!” she said raising her hands up in the air, showing off her black bangles and her hot pink bejeweled phone in her hand. None of the campers say anything. Layla-Rae pulls out a sheet of paper from her pile of papers and showed it to everyone. It said APPLAUD PLEASE in large bold black letters. The campers clap slowly. Devi starts to bow. Layla-Rae steps forward “The campers can continue on with their day. Devi would like to meet with a counselor to plan her visit. That is if it isn’t inconvenient at all.”  Gwen steps forward and starts to wave her hand wildly, “I can help!” Devi looks at her and snaps her fingers, “You’re spunky. I like that! Let’s go!” Gwen leads Devi into the mess hall and the bodyguards split up. One stayed by the bus the other went to the mess hall doors and stood in front of them.
Mr. Walter heads into the bus and starts to lead the horses out. The campers all start to disperse except for Max, Nikki, and Neil. David walks over to Layla-Rae, “While they plan out the day could I interest you in a tour of the campgrounds?” he asked. She smiled “I would love to!” David smiled, “I’m David by the way. A camp counselor! And a previous Camp Campbell camper myself!” Layla-Rae laughs, “It seems like you really enjoy being at Camp Campbell! I like someone who does what they love!” Max’s eye starts to twitch. “We can start the tour over at the tents,” said David as he started to walk, “Mr. Campbell could you watch the kids at the activity stations?” Cameron rolled his eyes, mumbled something and walked slowly toward the large group of kids. Layla-Rae looks over to Max, “C’mon Max. You can update me on what’s been going on at camp and you can introduce me to your friends!” She starts to follow David. Max crossed his arms, “No thanks. I’m going to hang out somewhere else. Come on guys,” says Max as he walks toward the lake. Nikki and Neil follow closely behind.

In the afternoon after the fencing lessons, the fencers left the court beside Kagami who stood back with Monsieur D’Argencourt.
“Too bad Adrien had to do a photoshoot,” Kagami said earning a nod from the teacher.
“Him being the only one to be worthy to fight you, it really makes your time here seem like everyone else here is having their first time here”
“You did mention, that he was coming after the lessons and practice along with you?” Questioned the blue-haired girl looking up at the tall man.
“Yes, he is. But if you’re interested in staying here to practice too. I don’t mind it”
“I just would need to ask my mother for permission”
“I don’t think Mrs. Tsurugi would mind it,” Mr. D’Argencourt said, then looked behind Kagami seeing a woman dressed in a white shirt and red pants walking by using a shinai as a blind cane to walk towards the fencing instructor and the girl.
“Good afternoon” The woman greeted stopping by the two.
“Good to see you again Mrs. Tsurugi. We were just talking about the fencing lessons. Kagami would love to stay another hour, cause Adrien wasn’t here and she couldn’t work well on her skills with the others and he’s coming in a few minutes.”
“He had a photo session here nearby” Added Kagami making her mother.
“Alright, that’s good for me” Tomoe agreed making Kagami smile along with the teacher.
“Too bad none of my students are here at the moment, but I’d love to introduce to them a real fencing champion,” Armand said to Kagami’s mother.
“Maybe another day, when they’re around”
“Zeynep and Laura are still in the wardrobes. I only saw the twins going home” Mentioned the Japanese girl earning a nod from the man, which fondled with his thumb and index finger on his mustache.
“If they’re interested, I wouldn’t mind do one or two matches” Mrs. Tsurugi admitted.
“That’s great, mother” Kagami admitted holding her mother on the hand, she had her cane. Armand D’Argencourt ran at the storeroom, then looked into a closet for something and Kagami observed the man there, afterward witnessed a white-skinned girl followed by two dark-skinned students leave the wardrobe with their sports bags and she waved at them.
“Zeynep, Laura, Etienne! Are you interested to see Mr. D’Argencourt duel with my mother?” Questioned Kagami seeing the three look to Kagami’s side and see Tomoe Tsurugi stand there neutrally with her shinai making the three students look at each other astonished, then they ran to Kagami to meet her mother.
“Awesome,” The tan-skinned girl said looking at Tomoe Tsurugi along with the others.
“How many times have you won a championship Mrs. Tsurugi?” Asked the dark-skinned boy.
“Is it true, that even though you can’t see, you can hear the steps of your opponents?” A blonde girl asked admiring the mother of her fencing colleague along with the other two.
“The last tournament I won back in 2002 the same year I lost my sight. That was the last time I attended a tournament. In the adult category, I won 7 out of 8 times and during adolecence, I won all tournaments, just like my father and grandfather.”
“Wow,” All three students said astonished at the achievement of the woman. Monsieur D’Argencourt came back with a fencing helmet, saber, and a jacket then handed it out to the mother of Kagami.
“I’ve got only the most important materials for the match. The saber, the jacket and the helmet” Armand explained the woman, which took the materials, then handed to her daughter the shinai so she could put on the fencing jacket.
The dark-skinned boy took his smartphone to put it on video call, then he reached another dark-skinned boy, that sat inside a bus next to another boy, who looked exactly like him.
“Hey” Greeted the twin.
“Hey guys you can’t believe who’s going to duel D’Argencourt”
“Who? Kagami?” Asked the second twin.
“Her mother” Added Etienne making the two boys look in shock at him.
“No shit!” Exclaimed the first boy surprised. “Mrs. Tsurugi is going to have a match with our teacher?”
“Damn, why did we leave?” The brother asked looking at the smartphone of the boy.
“Don’t worry, I try to show you the match as good as possible”
“Thank you, Etienne,” The twins said at the same time, then they saw Mrs. Tsurugi put on the mask over her face and waited for Mr. D’Argencourt to get ready.
“This is going to be one of the best matches I’ve ever been,” Laura said sitting down on the ground followed by Etienne, Kagami and Zeynep.
“Better than anyone we had?” The Japanese girl asked.
“Yours and Adrien’s were the best,” Told Etienne. “That one, weeks after you joined the academy, where you two ended up losing the masks and jump around like you were fighting with your mirror”
“Oh, I remember that one” Responded Kagami turning a little red on her cheeks, making the boy smirk.
“She’s blushing Laura. I think you were right, that they fell in love on that day” Etienne mentioned earning a nod from the blonde.
“You knew about it?” Asked Kagami looking at her classmates.
“After that, you two acted a little strange with each other, sometimes I caught one of you getting flustered, sometimes it was Zeynep….actually all of us did” “Believe it or not Kagami, we kind of shipped you two together and hoped you two would end up together” Zeynep explained Kagami.
“So that explains, why you all applauded as I and Adrien had told you all it”
“Yeah,” Zeynep said nodding at the brown-eyed girl.
“Will anyone of you be the referee during the match?” The gray-haired teacher asked looking at the students and Laura got up walking to the other side of the two adults.
“I will” Laura offered herself, then stood on the side watching the two stay in the middle and great each other and walk back to their positions.
“Ready?” Asked the blonde girl, watching the adults stay on their position, then she looked back to her fencing teacher and again to the side, where Kagami’s mother stood and announced the match to have started. “Allez!”
Armand ran towards the woman, which stood back normally, then as he was close to her, she swung her saber towards D’Argencourt’s saber pushing him away, making him spin around nearly losing his balance and she taps with the point of her saber on his back to score.
“1-0 for Mrs. Tsurugi,” Laura said and the fencing students applauded at the woman, then Mr. D’Argencourt went back to his place to prepare for the next round.
“When my mother does that, you nearly don’t have a chance to defeat her,” Kagami told her fencing mates, which nodded at her.
“Allez!” Shouted Laura watching Mr. D’Argencourt ran at Mrs. Tsurugi, which kept standing on her spot, then the teacher slowed down stopping in front of the woman, frowning at her just standing there. He held his sword near her seeing her still standing in front of him normally, making the other students look at each other and back at the two adults. Monsieur D’Argencourt moved his saber back and shove it against Kagami’s mother, which deflected the attack with her own saber, then the two started to fence, she only stood there moving her arms firmly blocking all the attacks the gray-haired man performed on her, then she took a step forward, making the man back off slowly as she approached him, afterward she thrusts harshly on his saber pushing him away from her making him slide on his shoes on the floor, then she stung with her sword on D’Argencourt’s leg, achieving another hit.
“2-0 for Mrs. Tsurugi,” Laura announced earning an applause from the classmates of the fencing academy.
The students that sat on the floor were whispering about the match therefore behind the students appeared another student dressed in white fencing clothing and went down on its knees between Kagami and Etienne.
“Good to see you here Adrien. Can you guess, who’s winning the match?” Asked the raven-haired boy, looking at the blonde who sat next to Kagami.
“Kagami’s mother?” Responded Adrien only thinking for a few seconds.
“Exactly” Responded Etienne. “How did you know?” “She already kicked my ass once, when Kagami asked me if I was interested in to try it out” Adrien explained. “But I think she treated me worse,” Adrien said, then saw Armand D’Argencourt fly above the playfield land on his back.
“3-0 for Mrs. Tsurugi”
“Well I had gotten that treatment too,” Adrien said watching his teacher get up from the ground, getting ready for the next match.
“You were not that bad, Adri,” Kagami said glancing at him with a smile.
“Thank god, if she really meant it with, she wouldn’t allow me to fence with you anymore”
“She wouldn’t do that” Kagami said looking at her mother fencing hastily with the fencing instructor, which tried his best to deflect all the attacks, she performed on him guiding him away from her and she struck the saber off the man’s hands making it fly away from his hand and land on the floor. Armand looked back at her holding the saber in front of his chest, then he held his hands up in the air as he was about to get arrested, then the students applauded at the woman as she scored the fourth time.
“I think that was enough,” Tomoe said taking her mask off, followed by the students starting to cheer for the winner, then Kagami handed her mother the shinai, while she at the same moment gave to her the jacket and the saber, which she placed on the ground to store it back later.
“See, not even your teacher has a chance towards a champion like here,” Armand D’Argencourt said holding his hand out for the woman to shake it. “Even though she can’t see me. No offense. You still fight fantastic like in your old glorious days, if you know, what I mean” D’Argencourt complimented making the woman smile.
“You don’t seem that bad either,” Mrs. Tsurugi said holding her shinai with both of her hands having her face focused on Mr. D’Argencourt to listen to him.
“Well in an hour, Adrien’s postponed lesson ends and then you can pass by and get your daughter back”
“Sure and oh Kagami, at 19 I’ll be at the hospital to see, if the driver is doing okay, I’ll be home around the 20”
“It’s alright, mother. Or could I be with Adrien during the time you’re gone, so I don’t have to be alone?” The Japanese girl asked earning a nod from her mother.
“If he or his family don’t mind it”
“We won’t Mrs. Tsurugi. She’s always welcome in our house” Adrien confirmed with a smile.
“That’s good,” Mrs. Tsurugi said walking out towards the exit.
“Shall we accompany her?” Asked Zeynep looking at Kagami, who shrugged her shoulders, then the teenagers ran behind the woman to walk beside her, starting to talk to the woman.
Adrien and Kagami observed their colleagues follow the former fencing champion, then Kagami looked at Adrien, who had already his fencing suit on.
“When did you get the time to dress up?” Questioned the girlfriend looking at the boy. “At the photo shot?”
“Yeah” Responded Adrien. “So I didn’t need to change my clothes again”
“So then we can start right off with our fencing match, hein?” Asked Kagami watching Adrien get up from the floor and held his hand out for the girl.
“Sure,” Adrien said going into the position his teacher stood before, while Kagami took her mother’s position, then pulled their masks on and prepared themselves for their match.
At an open-air swimming pool, many of visitors were inside the water taking a few strokes on the pool, other’s were enjoying the water slides on the other end of the plot and many women and younger women lied under the sun having a nap and get their skin tan. One of the girls was a blonde teenage girl, which Adrien Agreste knew very well. She is his childhood friend and also the mayor’s daughter. She lied in the sun with her sunglasses on and next to her sat her best friend Sabrina watching younger students play in the water.
“Chloé it’s such a wonderful sunny day today. Are you sure you don’t want to go out on the water and take a swim with me?” Questioned Sabrina smiling at her friend, who moved the head at the redhead, then away.
“Are you crazy?” Questioned the blonde. “There are kids in the water, some of them are even younger than us and they might have peed in the water”
“No Chloé they didn’t. If they did the water would change color, because of a special chemical they put in the water to detect me and where someone happened to pee it turns dark blue.” Sabrina explained watching Chloé turn around with her back up at the sun.
“Nah I’d rather lie here and get my skin tanned”
“But you’ve been doing this the whole time since we’ve got here. Why don’t we two go take a swim or go slide on the slides like the good old times?”
“Sabrina could you just stop annoying me? I already said no!”
“Okay, okay I’m sorry” Sabrina apologized then sat down on her bath towel watching all the students swim and play inside the pool enjoying their time together there. Sabrina sighed, then behind her Chloé looked down at her friend and rolled her eyes and got up from her towel to sit down next to her friend.
“You’re not mad at me, right?” Asked Chloé looking at her friend, which looked sad at her friend, then shook her head.
“No, I’m not. It’s just I sometimes miss the old times we three had together in the water when we were younger. Remember Adrien always wanted to have one of those water pistols and run around with the other boys, but his father never wanted to give him one.”
“Right he was afraid his son would get into the mafia or something if he had one” Chloé said remembering the old times making Sabrina giggle a little.
“Or do you remember, what Adrien used to do with us?” Questioned Sabrina entering into the water. “He used to dive down along with us and the one, who could hold on the break longer under water won”
“Oh I remember that. I used to beat him in that game” Chloé said remembering it. “Do you think we could still do that?” Asked Sabrina making Chloé think about, then she jumped into the pool swimming closer at her friend.
“Sure, get ready to lose,” Chloé said looking at her friend.
“Good….one...two….three….go!” Sabrina said covering her nose with the help of her thumb and index finger along with Chloé and the two dived down into the water and sat there on the ground.
A few seconds passed and Sabrina came out of the water first gasping, afterward Chloé came out raising her fist in victory as she won.
“Woohoo, I won!”
“Now again, This time I will beat you” “Oh, I wanna see that,” Chloé said diving down along with the girlfriend, again Sabrina was the first one to get out of the water and she observed Chloé still under the water.
“Wow, she’s doing it really well,” Sabrina said and the blonde showed up again on the surface earning applause from Sabrina.
“Well done Chloé” Sabrina cheered watching the blonde bow down at her friend, then Chloé noted behind her the water appeared more blue than usual and she looked back at a young girl swimming on the surface with the help of water wings at a woman, which was smiling at her child, then noted behind her child the water chemicals turning blue, which meant that her child had peed in the pool.
“Ewww!” Chloé barked walking away in the water from the pee climbing out of the pool. “Eww, eww, eww, eww!”
“Chloé don’t you worry, the pee hasn’t come that close to you,” Sabrina said trying to climb out of the pool.
“Why did I listen to you. You know, that I could get infected by it?”
“Chloé that just happened by coincidence. I couldn’t know it was going to happen at that moment”
“But it happened!” Chloé shouted at her friend. During that moment two boys ran beside the pool playing with water guns shooting water at each other, then the first boy ran around Sabrina and hid behind here while the second boy hid behind Chloé, which glared at the boy annoyed.
“Get your hands off me!” Demanded Chloé the boy, which watched the other boy behind Sabrina afterward Chloé grabbed the water gun of the boy taking it off his hands losing her balance and fall into the water together with the gun.
“Are you okay Chloé?” Asked Sabrina watching Chloé come up to the surface and throw the water gun at Sabrina, causing the boys to ran off as they saw Chloé in rage. “Chloé?” The redhead asked shrieking as Chloé threw the gun at Sabrina’s arms, then she climbed up out of the pool, followed by Sabrina coming down to help her but Chloé pushed her away from her.
“Get your hands off me!” Exclaimed the blonde. “I’m not ever coming back here with you, never!” Chloé hissed at her friend picking her bath towel and walk away leaving Sabrina alone and she sat down on the pool with the boy’s water gun, then she got tears in her eyes at her friend being mad at her and the tears ran her cheeks down to her neck.
From above the pool appeared an akuma crossing the location making its way towards Sabrina and it flew down at the water gun she had in her arms disappearing in it, causing a purple, neon light, butterfly-shaped mask appear in front of her eyes.
“Hawk Moth?” Asked Sabrina surprised, then heard the voice of the villain on the other side, but it sounded different than Hawk Moth’s actual voice.
“I’m not Hawk Moth. My name is Monarch”
“Do I know you?”
“No, but I do know you. You just wanted your friend to have fun like you two used to have in the past. I can help you with it”
“She’s ungrateful, she will never understand, that everything that I’m doing is for her. I just want the best for her, but she dislikes the place here so much”
“Don’t worry, I’ll help you out with it and make sure she’s going to love it no matter what”
“Good and what do I have to do in return?” Questioned Sabrina. “Bring you the miraculouses of Lady Red and Cat Noir?”
“Sure and if you find the other heroes on the way take theirs too”
“Sure Monarch, It will be my pleasure,” Sabrina said disappearing in a dark cloud and her body was filled from her neck down to her legs with scales resembling the elastic skin of a fish. The scales from her legs up to the taille was colored red while the rest of the upper part of her body was dark green and around her head, she had a green seaweed-like headband and her eyes had gotten green, while her irises had become bloody red. The akumatized Sabrina took her water canon, which now was a little bigger and had a wheel on the side with various options, then she moved the wheel on the side to a image, that showed the symbol of the water and a arrow pointing up to the air, afterward the girl shoot with the gun a dark blue liquid, causing the water to start flow out of the pool slowly filling the whole plot with water, making Sabrina laugh at it.
“Everyone is going to like that,” Sabrina said to herself then ran along the field passing by a few guests, that had got scared as they noted the akumatized girl passing by.
Adrien and Kagami were fencing all alone in the court with the absence of their fencing teacher. Kagami walked backward parrying all the attacks her boyfriend did on her, then on the way she tripped and fell down on her back, so that Adrien had a chance to stab her with his saber, but she riposted his attack, then slashed hard with her saber on his, making him nearly lose the sword off his hands. Afterward, Kagami did a kip-up to get back on her feet and attacked her boyfriend guiding him away from her quickly moving with her feet really close to his nearly stepping on them. Adrien tried to gain more space between them, but it didn’t work out well for him, cause she still was very close to him, after that he changed plans and stopped to try to deflect her attacks, then the two smite their sabers at each other’s, slowly trying to dominate Kagami the way she did to him before, then his strokes got harder due to the strength he tried to put in to push the girlfriend away, afterward he managed to smack on her saber hard enough to have enough time to score a point for him by hitting her on her belly.
“Boya!” Adrien exclaimed raising his mask up in the air and throwing it up in the air, shortly after that Kagami jumped at him causing him to fall on his back and she lied on her knees over the boy.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa!” Adrien replied as his girlfriend had brought him down on the ground.
“You did so well today, Adrien,” Kagami said removing her mask and dropping it on the ground next to Adrien’s.
“And that’s your way of saying it, by pushing me to the ground?” Questioned Adrien making the girl chuckle.
“Sorry, I got angry at you, but I’m over it” Kagami admitted passing her hand behind her head, then Adrien sat up while Kagami sat next to him. “And you really worked hard today, look at your face. You’re totally wet” Kagami mentioned while removing her gloves, then passed her hand over his forehead feeling the sticky sweat on her hands. “Have I ever told you how much I adore to see you like that?”
“Uh wet?” Questioned the blonde earning a nod from the girlfriend, then he lied down on the floor, followed by the girlfriend lying beside him and place her arms over his chest to lie her head over them.
“How was the photo shot?” Questioned the blue-haired girl rolling her eyes up at the blonde, observing him put his hands together and lie them behind his head to have a better comfort in lying there on the rubber-made ground.
“Boring as usual” Responded Adrien. “I felt like the time wasn’t passing by”
“Where you alone there?”
“Only me, the bodyguard and the photographer. One or two fangirls tried to sneak in, but my bodyguard made them go away” The blonde responded. “How was the fencing lessons before without me?”
“Well I beat all of them as usual, I didn’t really have that much as joy as I had it now with you”
“They’re sadly not as worthy as me I see” Adrien added making her girlfriend grin.
“Said the one, who lost against Etienne two weeks ago,” Kagami said jokingly making Adrien roll his eyes in annoyance at this mention.
“I was tired from the fight with Gigantitan,” Adrien said making the girlfriend chuckle.
“How could that big baby make such a hard time?”
“I don’t know, but Luka felt the same” Adrien told the girlfriend, which sat up and stood up afterward. “You’re already leaving?” Asked Adrien looking up at the girlfriend.
“I need to go to the toilet” Responded Kagami.
“Oh fine. You know I was enjoying to lie here on the floor with you” Adrien said sitting up on the ground looking up at his girlfriend.
“You’re were not the only one enjoying it,” Kagami said with a smile, then Adrien mirrored her facial expression.
Later from the entrance, three teenage girls came by running towards the fencing couple, then Adrien looked along with Kagami back at the trio running towards them and Adrien got up from the floor stepping beside Kagami and the girls stopped in front of them.
“I told you he was here!” The first girl with long light blonde hair and dark red lipgloss on the lips told the other two girls.
“Uh hey,” Adrien greeted the girls waving his hand at the three girls.
“Hey Adrien, we’re here because we wanted to know if it was possible to take a selfie with you or maybe give us some autographs”
“I’m sorry, but I don’t have any marker or anything to sign something for you three”
“It doesn’t matter, you can always take a selfie with us” The second girl suggested who was a light brunette and had black lip gloss.
“Ah, I don’t think that’s a good idea. I’m full of sweat right know and I don’t feel well about it”
“Can you give me something, that’s yours like….this glove?” Asked the third blonde grabbing him on his right hand, making him gulp.
“No, I need them”
“But you’re so rich, you could buy another pair?” Suggested the first blonde.
“I could, but they were a gift from my mother” Explained Adrien, then the brunette stuck her hand inside Adrien’s hair pulling off his head a few strings of his hair, making him yelp. “Hey!” Adrien cried as the girl had hurt him.
“Hey, why don’t you leave him alone?” Asked Kagami glaring at the three girls. “He doesn’t want to be bothered by you all” Kagami told the girls crossing her arms, then the third blonde looked at her with an arrogant face.
“Who do you think you are?” Questioned the blonde.
“Hey, girls leave her alone. She has nothing to do with our conversation.” Adrien said walking to the front of the girlfriend to avoid the girls to speak to her.
“Can we just take one selfie with you?” Questioned the first blonde. “Just one”
“Or if you don’t want that give us a kiss, just a little peck”
“No!” Responded Adrien harsh.
“Can we three at least spend a bit time together, hang out in a bar or something?”
“I can’t. I’m already going out with my girlfriend later” Adrien replied surprising the girls.
“No way” The first blonde replied surprised.
“You’re lying” Added the second blonde.
“I thought you were single,” The brunette said looking along with the girls at Adrien.
“Well, half of my fangirls know exactly who my girlfriend even is. I’ve thought you did the same”
“Oh right I remember….she’s the one, he’s dating,” The first blonde said looking at Kagami, who stood behind Adrien watching the girls glaring at her.
“How can you love a girl like her?” Questioned the brunette. “She’s so small and she nearly looks like a guy with that haircut,” The girl said making Kagami frown.
“Unlike me, I don’t act like a stuck up brat like you!” Kagami threw at the brunette making her look shocked at her reaction.
“Bitch, what did you say?” Questioned the blonde placing her arms on her hips staring aggravated at the blue-haired girl.
“I’m not a bitch” Replied Kagami. “I’m a human like all of you”
“Ohh,” The two friends of the blonde said at Kagami’s comeback, then Adrien pushed the girls away from Kagami gently.
“Hey, will you three stop bothering us, If I take a picture with you three?” Asked Adrien making the girls yell in surprise and threw themselves at Adrien bringing him down on the ground. “Hey!” Cried the blonde shrieking Kagami, who got down at the girls trying to separate them from Adrien, then Kagami felt back on her butt as she had got hit by one of the girls.
“Ouch!” Kagami said passing her hand on the cheek feeling a little cut on her face due one of the girl’s having hurt her with her nails.
“Get off me!” Shouted Adrien loud trying to lift the girls off him, then another voice had shouted across the court causing the girls to stop and see Monsieur D’Argencourt ran towards the four, then the girls got terrified and ran away leaving Adrien back with Kagami.
“Are you two okay?” Asked the teacher coming down at the two students only to see Kagami with a thin scratch on her face.
“Gosh my fangirls are starting to get out of control,” Adrien said, then widened his eyes feeling ashamed as he had seen, what one of the fangirls did to Kagami. “I’m sorry about this Kagami. I should have straight go to get help instead of trying to convince them to leave”
“I don’t understand why they all go crazy about him as if he some type of god. This is the third time this month it happens during our fencing practice”
“Indeed. They’re starting to abuse it” Armand said looking at Adrien getting up and holding his hand out to help Kagami stand up. “Adrien have you tried with telling your fans to leave directly or with a little more louder tune?”
“You mean like be rude at them?”

“I don’t want them to have a bad impression of me or hate me because of it” Adrien responded looking at the adult.
“Adrien your fans exploit you because of your kindness. You never tell them directly no” Kagami explained her boyfriend, that listened to her.
“But I don’t want them to be sad when they visit me on purpose just to meet me or have something from me” Adrien replied making Kagami shake her head.
“Adrien I know you mean it well, but you won’t always be able to please every fan of yours. If a fan would ask you to I don’t know….quit fencing because they think it doesn’t suit you, would you do that?”
“No of course not” Responded Adrien. “They don’t have to tell me, what I have to do or not”
“See, I know you can do that. You just have to be more confident with yourself and explain to them why you can’t. If you need to be a little ruder, then just be it”
“Fine, I’ll try” Adrien promised making the girl smile. “And I think I need to take a shower when I get back home”
“You’re not the only one,” Kagami said with a chuckle, then raised her eyebrows making Adrien do the same gazing at her with a bewildered face, then the two looked at the ground to see water fill the whole ground of the court. “Uh what is going on?” Asked Kagami looking around along with Adrien and they saw at the entrance water coming up from the stairs and the door got closed by the housekeeper to reduce the water getting into the building.
“Oh oh,” Adrien said, then looked at Kagami who got shocked about the situation and Adrien grabbed the girl on her hand. “Follow me to the wardrobes, I think someone got akumatized again” Adrien demanded the girl, then she followed her boyfriend into the wardrobe to Adrien’s locker, then he unlocked his safe while Kagami stood there looking back at the entrance from where the water was coming.
“Go get Tikki,” Adrien told Kagami, which run on the other side of the room to the lockers, then from one locker, her kwami passed through the door to look for her owner. “And give Tikki the lime-green colored power-up,” Adrien said and Kagami looked to her kwami.
“The cookies Viperion brought us once?” Questioned Kagami.
“Yes” Responded Adrien opening the locker to caught his kwami lying inside an empty wheel of Camembert cheese.
“You forgot to order more Camembert,” Plagg told the blonde.
“Don’t worry, you’ve gotta try out these new Sablés Marinette made for us,” Adrien said taking out from the locker a small paper box with two sables of each color, then took out the lime green one.
“Oh is Paris going to become the new Atlantis again?” Questioned Plagg, then behind Adrien appeared Kagami along with Tikki.
“I’ve got a problem. I’ve left my power-ups in the house” Kagami said, then Adrien held out the box to his girlfriend.
“Thank you. Tikki, power up!” Kagami shouted and threw the cookie at Tikki, which caught it with her mouth and chewed on the cookie and swallowed it down. “Aqua Tikki!” The red kwami announced turning into an aqua-themed kwami.
“Aqua Tikki, spots on!” Shouted Kagami transforming into Lady Red.
“Aqua Plagg, claws out!” Shouted Adrien seconds afterward to turn into the cat-themed superhero Cat Noir.
“Look I’ve got these flippers again,” Cat Noir said lifting his left leg up to look at it, then he looked at Lady Red and dropped his mouth as he saw Lady Red’s suit.
“How do I look?” Lady Red asked looking at the black flippers on her feet, then she checked her suit up to her arms resembling her original one, but the texture of her suit resembled larger fish scales, including the black dots, which were a little smaller. Cat Noir shook his head to stop admiring her body and slapped himself on his face.
“Sorry, I wasn’t expecting that you could look more…..attractive than before” Apologized the blonde making Kagami shake her head.
“No wonder you were crushing on Ladybug a long time ago”
“I never crushed on her because of her body, okay. I had found her amazing on the first day she took down Stoneheart and saved Paris”
“I was joking,” Lady Red said. “I know you’re not that type of guy,” Lady Red said and the door broke down flowing the room in with water.
“Oh oh,” Cat Noir said and Lady Red grabbed the superhero on his arms scared of the rising water in the room. “Don’t worry, nothing will happen to us, I promise,” The blonde superhero said looking at his girlfriend, who was still worried about the water rising to their taille. “You don’t have to worry about this. You will be able to breathe underwater”
“Really?” Asked Lady Red earning a nod from the blonde, then she gasped as the water was getting closer to her head, making her panic and Cat Noir grabbed her on her hands.
“Look into my eyes, don’t look anywhere else besides them, alright?” The cat-themed hero asked the girlfriend, which nodded and kept her eyes glued on the superhero, then the water increased more passing now over the head of the superheroes. Lady Red gasped, afterward realized she could breathe normally underwater, then saw Cat Noir smile softly at her, then the two swum across the room at the window of the wardrobe, then Lady Red looked around the window, where the handle was, but before she found it Cat Noir used his baton to break the glass and removed a few remaining glass pieces and swum out of the room along with Lady Red, which followed the boy the building up to the surface, where they could see Paris filled with water until the roofs of the houses.
“There’s Cat Noir and Lady Red!” A voice said and the two heroes looked up at the school where a couple of students, that had still been around the building were now safe there on the roof.
“Stay there right, where you are before everything comes back to normal” Lady Red demanded the students on the roof, then looked at the boyfriend. “What is your plan?” Questioned Lady Red. “Who could we be looking for?”
“Must be someone, that got akumatized near a pool or so” Responded the cat-themed superhero. “The last time I got to use this power-up I had to fight a villain named Syren, who wanted to create an underwater paradise for her love” Cat Noir explained then dived down underwater followed by the girlfriend. “Let’s take la rue de notre dame” Cat Noir suggested diving down into the avenue swimming over the streets passing over cars, that were parked on the side of the street. Lady Red looked closer at the windows of the vehicle to see, if there was anyone caught inside the vehicles, but kept following the cat as everything seemed clear back there.
“Hey look there are fishes” Cat Noir mentioned as he passed by a small colon of gray-colored fishes passing by him.
“This is strange, but Paris underwater looks quite nice,” Lady Red said looking at Cat Noir, who agreed with her comment and they passed beside the cathedral, which was all underwater making Cat Noir feel remorseful.
Soon they passed by the Eiffel Tower, whose half of the head looked out over the surface and around the tower the heroes recognized people sitting on the bar of the Eiffel Tower looking down at the water.
“I’m going up there,” Cat Noir told the girlfriend, then she grabbed him on his arms stopping him from.
“Wait I don’t want to be left back alone” Lady Red mentioned concerned about it, then Cat Noir grabbed her hands then gazed into her brown-colored eyes.
“Nothing will happen to you, while you’re transformed.”
“I believe you, but my head is driving me crazy about this situation and I can’t control it”
“Forget all this. You made your way up here from the school all by yourself. You got over your fear from that place. I believe in you. I believe you can do here the same” Cat Noir said holding her hands closer together earning a nod from the superheroine.
“You’re….right!” Lady Red said excitedly as she thought about it. “Just because of you”
“It was nothing,” Cat Noir said, then his ears jiggled as he sensed a mysterious sound then looked around to see up coming down into the water Super Nathan in his aqua-themed super suit.
“Gosh, you two look gorgeous” Super Nathan said arriving with a strange fan-like device with a propeller in the middle and handles on the side to hold the device while traveling underwater.
“What the heck is that?” Asked Cat Noir curious at the apparatus.
“I get easily tired of swimming and draw me this to help me move quicker underwater. It’s pretty clever from me, right?” Asked Super Nathan earning a nod from the superheroes.
“Well better than your bathing cap,” Lady Red said making Cat Noir chuckle as he saw on Super Nathan’s head a dark blue cap on covering almost all of his hair.
“If you’re saying I drew that, it’s wrong. It came with the new suit.”
“You still don’t look that bad Super” Lady Red complimented.
“Well thanks” Super Nathan said turning around with his device. “Follow me. I saw the akuma head towards Chloé’s hotel”
“Did she cause the akuma again?” Questioned Cat Noir swimming behind Super Nathan along with Lady Red.
“No idea, but I wouldn’t be surprised” Responded Super Nathan, then wide his eyes and looked back at his legs to see Cat Noir and Lady Red holding on his legs and Cat Noir wave at the boy with a grin, making him roll his eyes. “Shall I draw your one too?” Questioned Super Nathan.
“No, it’s fine. Go ahead” Responded the black-clad superhero making Super Nathan shook his head with a sight and continue the way looking for the hotel.
At the hotel, Chloé was inside her bathroom putting on herself a black and white striped top, then adjusted the shoulder strap to hold tight on her. Therefore Chloé walked across the bathroom at the window, then before she opened it, she noted that something was wrong on the outside and saw fishes swimming beside her window, making her feel bewildered about the situation. Chloé leaned her face on the glass, then got frightened as she realized Paris was underwater and ran out of the bathroom passing by her bedroom, then she saw on the window a creature covered with red scales up to her taille and the upper part remained green as seaweed.
“Ahh!” Screamed Chloé as she saw the akuma on the other side of the window, which turned on the side of her weapon on the wheel and shouted a small bullet towards the window causing it to break and the foom get flood with water. “Help me!” Shouted Chloé making the akuma smirk and aim the girl with her gun and adjust her canon again to shoot another bullet towards the girl, which was colored light blue and the pellet flew towards Chloé’s mouth, causing her to shriek while having her mouth open and it landed right in her throat, causing her to cough.
“Argh…..” Chloé coughed while clapping on her chest, then the room got filled all up with water, scaring Chloé believing she was going to drown, but as she opened her eyes she could breathe under the water. “What?” Chloé asked confused about, what was going on.
“Chloé do you remember me?” Asked the akuma approaching the blonde girl, which wide her eyes as she recognized the voice.
“Sabrina?” Asked Chloé. “Oh no, you’re akumatized!”
“Oh, you don’t need to worry about yourself. I’m just here to show you, how much fun you can have in the water.”
“Oh that sounds great, but…..I had just eaten before and….shouldn’t we wait an hour or two after eating before we go swimming?”
“You didn’t eat anything yet Chloé. Stop lying” The akuma said grabbing Chloé on her hand.
“Hey be careful with my watch!” Demanded Chloé. “And did you just call me a liar?” Questioned the blonde, then someone whistled calling the attention of the two girls, then they looked at the window to see Super Nathan along with Cat Noir and Lady Red.
“The superheroes!” Chloé announced pleased at the sight of the trio. “What’s with that silly head Super Nathan. It’s utterly ridiculous” The blonde said making Super Nathan roll his eyes.
“We know it’s you Sabrina, let Chloé in peace and let’s put an end to this” Cat Noir said glaring stern at the akumatized girl.
“For your information, the name is Aquatica and I’m not harming Chloé in any way”
“Then why are you holding her tight on her arm, while she’s trying to get off you?” Asked Super Nathan crossing his arms with a sly smirk, afterward Aquatica took her water canon out, causing Lady Red and Cat Noir to react and stay in front of Super Nathan. Aquatica fired a bunch of bullets towards the superhero team and Lady Red deflected all attacks with her yo-yo.
“That’s a good moment to tell you, I’d take a bullet for you,” Cat Noir told his girlfriend, which glanced shortly at her boyfriend.
“I’m the one dodging the attacks you know”
“I know, I was just flirting,” Cat Noir said, then Lady Red wide her eyes and looked back at the boy in the black leather suit.
“Cat, deflect the attacks for me, I’ve got an idea,” Lady Red said, then the boy jumped in front of the girl while swinging his baton to deflect the bullets, then Aquatica stopped as the heroes had deflected her bullets.
“Aww, you’re out of bullets?” Questioned Cat Noir making Aquatica growl and grab Chloé by her arm and swim away from the room, breaking another window to head to the city.
“Okay forget it Super Nathan, we need another plan” Lady Red said watching Super Nathan draw on his tablet, then he tapped several times on the same spot and started to sketch on the screen, while the superhero couple observed him and next to them on the ground from Chloé appeared a similar underwater propeller-like vehicle like from before, but two turbines on the side and in the middle was a platform for them to get on it and on the backside of the platform were handles with the brake and the accelerator.
“Your ride has arrived,” Super Nathan said presenting the older superheroes the vehicle, then watched them step on the platform, afterward Super Nathan placed his hands on the handle turning the propellers on to drove away with the vehicle to pursue the villain.
“Can this go faster Nath, we’re almost losing them,” Asked Cat Noir looking at his superhero partner.
“I’m trying, I think this doesn’t take so much weight,” Super Nathan said moving with his hand on the accelerator trying to improve the speed, but it only did for a bit.
“I’ve got another idea,” Lady Red said jumping down of the vehicle to take his place. “Get up to Cat and try to draw something you could use to catch Aquatica”
“Sure” Super Nathan agreed, then Cat Noir extended his baton to push his friend up to the platform, then Super Nathan sat on the platform thinking about, what he could draw.
“Hey what about you drawing a cannon, that shoots a net?” Questioned the blonde superhero. “Sounds helpful”
“Hmm….okay!” Super Nathan agreed starting to draw the front of the cannon while Cat Noir observed him and looked in front smirking seeing when they would come along Aquatica and Chloé.
“Have you got eye contact with them?” Questioned Lady Red looking up at the guys.
“Not yet” Responded Cat Noir. “Can you hold it?” Asked Cat Noir looking down at his girlfriend, then behind Super Nathan’s back his miraculous lightened up, starting to beep putting Super Nathan in panic and look up at how far he was away from the surface.
“Oh no, I’m going to transform back!” Super Nathan said anxious, then his transformation occurred and Super Nathan was now Nathaniel Kurtzberg again, who then covered his mouth and tried to swim up at the surface.
“Nathaniel!” Shouted Lady Red and Cat Noir swam behind the redhead grabbing him by his back carrying him behind him.
In the meanwhile, on the top of the Françoise Dupont high school, Miss Vixen had appeared dropping a citizen on the roof, then landing vice versa to him to check if he was alright.
“You’re alright sir?” Asked the fox-themed heroine seeing the man nod at her. Miss Vixen got up and passed by the other students, that were at the top of the building. “Is everyone alright?” Questioned Miss Vixen, afterwards, some nodded at her and gazed at her surprised at seeing her in a different look.
“Miss Vixen, you have got there some nice flippers,” A student said looking at Miss Vixen’s feet.
“Well this is how I look like when I have the water power-up,” Miss Vixen said looking at her suit, which was colored the same as her regular one, but she had all over her suit wave-like textures.
“Are all students here?” Asked the art class teacher looking around the roof for his students.
“Mr. Ross, I think Nathaniel is missing,” A boy with a red hood over his head said walking up at the senior.
“Right I haven’t seen him since we left the classroom” The teacher mentioned surprised at not realizing the redhead was missing. “Where could he have gone?”
“Don’t worry Mr. Ross. Nathaniel is fine. I dropped him at the top of another building” Miss Vixen said, then from the water jumped out Cat Noir carrying the boy on his arms landing on the roof.
“He’s there!” Shouted the raven-haired boy shocked watching Cat Noir lie the redhead down on the floor.
“Oh that Nathaniel” Miss Vixen said to trick the boy.
“Miss Vixen….I found this boy in the water….trying to come up the building and he didn’t make it...” Cat Noir told the brunette superheroine, then she came down to the boy placing her hands around Nathaniel’s face. Miss Vixen looked at Cat Noir, which pointed at his own miraculous trying to make Miss Vixen understand his message.
“Oh okay, but first I have to perform CPR on Nathaniel” Miss Vixen said, then behind her appeared Armand D’Argencourt placing his hand on her shoulder.
“Don’t worry Miss Vixen, I had at the start of this year the repetition of my first aid course and I know what to do.” The teacher said watching Miss Vixen stand up a little bewildered.
“Okay”
“Uh I help too,” Marc said lifting his hand in the air blushing a little red. “You know….someone has to do the breathing part, right?” Marc said trying to hide his desire to came Nathaniel that close.
“No thank you Marc. I don’t want you to eventually get infected by him during the CPR” Mr. D’Argencourt said lifting Nathaniel’s head up opening his mouth up, then placed his hand over Nathaniel’s chest and started to press on his chest performing the first aid.
“Let’s go Miss Vixen, he’s going to be okay,” Cat Noir said looking at the worried heroine watching her superhero-partner being reanimated.
“Sure I’m coming,” Miss Vixen said looking at Cat Noir taking his staff out to call Lady Red.
“Hey, where are you located?” Questioned Cat Noir.
“Near the Eiffel Tower. I think she wants Chloé to jump down off it” Responded Lady Red. “Go over the roof’s buildings and you arrive quicker”
“I think this won’t be necessary, Miss Vixen is here”
“Great, see you later”
“Bye,” Cat Noir said putting his staff back behind his back, watching Miss Vixen take off in the air a little and grabbing the boy from behind his neck like a real kitten.
“Air Vixen is ready to take off. Next destination, the Eiffel Tower” Miss Vixen announced playfully making Cat Noir chuckle, then Miss Vixen carried the French boy with her heading at the Eiffel Tower, where they saw Aquatica stand on the top of the tower with Chloé on a wooden board.
“There they are,” Cat Noir told the Italian girl looking up at the tower along with her.
“Right, and where is Lady Red?” Questioned Miss Vixen looking around, then Cat Noir pointed down at the water, where he saw Lady Red guiding the underwater propeller and Miss Vixen flew down at the water dropping the boy and to dive into the water along with him, a few meters away from the blue-haired superheroine.
“And have you got an idea?” Questioned Cat Noir and Lady Red held up in front of him a wrapped drinking straw. “Did you lucky charm just give you a damn straw?” Questioned Cat Noir shocked. “What are you going to do with that?”
“I don’t know it yet, but I need to get closer to the two” Lady Red responded looking up along with her boyfriend.
“Hey what about I go up at them and try to trick her out?” Questioned the vixen-themed heroine.
“Yeah does she think we lost her track or something?” Questioned Cat Noir looking along with Miss Vixen at Lady Red.
“Most likely, she hasn’t ever looked back if we were there or not” Replied the Japanese descendant heroine.
“Good, then I and Lady Red climb up the Eiffel Tower on the other side while you fly up at her and try to distract her” Cat Noir suggested the two girls, earning a nod from the Italian heroine, which swam up at the surface and took off in the air making her way up to the supervillain.
On the board, Chloé was on the edge of the board looking down at the water.
“Can we go somewhere a little less high?” Questioned Chloé. “I’ve got vertigo”
“Don’t worry Chloé. Nothing will happen to you when you fall. Trust me” Aquatica promised the friend, which looked down at the water swallowing hard, then shrieked as she heard Aquatica turn the wheel on the water gun.
“I’ll jump! I’ll jump!” Chloé said jumping up and down on the board and before she could jump Miss Vixen appeared catching the girl and landing on the board with her in the arms. “Miss Vixen! You’re here!” Chloé said hugging the superheroine, much to Aquatica’s annoyment.
“Oh Miss Vixen” Aquatica said amused at the sight of the vixen-themed superheroine. “Where’s your boyfriend?” Questioned the duo-colored heroine making Miss Vixen growl at her mentioning him.
“What did you do to him?” Questioned Miss Vixen glaring serious at the akuma.
“I’ve done nothing” Responded the villain. “I remember seeing him trying to keep up with me along with his superhero friends and afterward I didn’t see them anymore. What should I have done with him? Kill him?” Asked Aquatica crossing her arms annoyed with the superheroine, then Miss Vixen remembered Cat Noir pointing at his ring and Miss Vixen realized exactly, why Nathaniel wasn’t under Super Nathan’s skin.
“Right I beg your pardon Aquatica. You know I’m not used in dealing with akumas like Cat Noir does”
“The most of you do,” Aquatica said looking at her fingers copying Chloé’s trademark and Miss Vixen dropped Chloé on the wooden board and Chloé grabbed herself around the board, afraid of falling down.
“Look I got an offer for you,” Miss Vixen said making Aquatica smirk interested in the proposal.
“What do you have to offer?” Questioned Aquatica gazing at the Redfox-themed heroine. Miss Vixen saw Lady Red pulling herself up along with Cat Noir with the yo-yo, then they stood there watching Miss Vixen along with Aquatica.
“Look I know exactly, where all the miraculouses are, which Hawk Moth must be looking for”
“I’m not going to bring them to Hawk Moth. I want to bring them to Monarch”
“Right Monarch. That’s his brother, right?” Questioned Miss Vixen trying to examine the villain about the identity of the boss.
“She’s not related with Hawk Moth. Fact I don’t know it either. She’s just helping me out”
“OH she’s a woman, then?” Miss Vixen asked, then Aquatica heard something and looked back to see Lady Red throw her yo-yo towards Aquatica, which quickly bounced on the board jumping high in the air to avoid the yo-yo grab her, but only smack on the board and roll back at Lady Red.
“You smartass wanted to trick me, hein?” Aquatica asked using her water gun aiming the heroine, then as she shot at Miss Vixen she had let herself fall down and the villain ran over the board to watch the heroine fall, but she had disappeared. From behind Aquatica Miss Vixen appeared landing on the other side of the board whistling at the akumatized girl, which then looked back at the superheroine.
“Suprise!” Miss Vixen said holding her hands up in the air, making Aquatica growl aiming her gun at Miss Vixen, then she saw on the tower Lady Red slide with her yo-yo down and lifted her gun up at the heroine.
“Lady Red, watch out!” Shouted Cat Noir earning a nod from the heroine, which looked at Aquatica with a smirk, then ripped with her teeth the straw open from the paper, afterward she placed the straw on her lips and blew fast on the straw catapulting it towards the hole of the gun, blocking the bullets to come out.
“Well done!” Complimented Cat Noir landing beside his girlfriend, then saw Aquatica remove the straw of the hole and aim Miss Vixen again.
“Miss Vixen help, I can’t hold any longer!” Chloé called having the eyes of her and the villain focused on her. Lady Red threw her yo-yo up at the antenna of the tower, then she swung herself down against the villain, which ran against Miss Vixen and tripping on the hands of Chloé causing her to take her hands off the board to fall to her death.
“Chloé!” Aquatica cried seeing her friend fall, then she got angry at Miss Vixen and pointed her gun at the heroine, then Miss Vixen held her hands up in the air, then watched along with Aquatica Lady Red jump down falling behind the girl, catching her by her expensive belt and threw her yo-yo at one of the bars on the long neck of the tower and swung with Chloé on her arms and dropped her on the bar, then Chloé clammed herself at Lady Red, afraid from the height and Lady Red kept her company and observed the situation with Miss Vixen and Aquatica.
“You’re lucky, that she’s alive. If she did have died you would have paid for that!” Aquatica shouted at the heroine, then aimed her weapon again at Miss Vixen and the Italian heroine took a deep breath, making Cat Noir wide his eyes and hold himself tight on a bar, then the heroine released her vixen scream causing the whole water landscape to shake while Aquatica dropped her gun to cover her eyes, while being blown away by the wave of the ultrasound and the villain lost her equilibrium, then felt down from the tower and Lady Red threw her yo-yo to catch the villain.
“Well done, Lady Red” Complimented Miss Vixen fly down and grab Aquatica to carry her up at the tower, followed by Lady Red taking Chloé in her arms to ascend up with her yo-yo back at the cabin of the tower,
“I’ve gotta start to bring some earpods for every time you use your fox scream,” Cat Noir said watching Miss Vixen come by with the water gun, then she threw it at his hands, while he activated the cataclysm to destroy it.
“Well done” Lady Red complimented the group, then rolled her yo-yo out as the akuma got out of the water gun. “You’ve done enough trouble today, little akuma,” Lady Red spun her yo-yo around to catch the akuma, so she could purify it. “Time to de-evilize!”
“Goodbye, little butterfly” The ladybug-themed heroine signed off at the white flatter watching him fly away, then shew threw up her yo-yo up in the air to activate the miraculous healing light to restore the whole city back into normal, including Aquatica turning back into Sabrina Raincomprix.
“What happened?” Questioned Sabrina looking up at the superheroes, including Chloé, who stood in front of her friend a little sad. “Chloé? Are you okay?”
“You were akumatized and that was all because of me,” Chloé said looking down at her friend. “Is there a way you could forgive me?”
“You’re my best friend, of course, I’m going to forgive you,” Sabrina said getting up to embrace her friend.
“Hey careful, this jacket belongs to Todelan” Chloé mentioned pushing her friend away from him making the superheroes wide their eyes on confusion.
“Chloé can I give you a little advice?” Asked Lady Red earning a nod from the blonde.
“Uh sure, you’re a superhero after all”
“I know you seem to have a little problem with your self-esteem and that’s why you’re taking it out on the other students like Juleka. Try to stop doing that. Do something else, try to help them with their problems instead”
“Uh okay?”
“I know it sounds hard, but I know you can do it. Cause deep down in your heart, you’re actually more than you let it show”
“Well thank you”
“You can ask Sabrina or maybe your model friend Adrien Agreste to help you. He for sure would love to help his best friend, right?” Asked Cat Noir earning a nod from the blonde girl.
“Thank you, guys. You’re the best” Chloé said hugging the two superheroes. Miss Vixen smiled at looking at them and remembered, she had dropped Nathaniel back on the top of the Françoise Dupont school.
“Nathÿ” Miss Vixen said to herself, then looked at the group hugging. “I’ve gotta go, I have to go look for Super Nathan,” Miss Vixen said taking off and heading quickly at the school, hearing the first minute of her miraculous having passed. “It be quick, I promise” Miss Vixen said, then saw on the roof of the building a few students entering through the roof door back into the building, then Miss Vixen looked around and found Nathaniel sitting leaned to a wall with Armand D’Argencourt, Alix and Marc around him and she landed on the ground to see the group.
“Good afternoon everyone” Miss Vixen greeted, then all greeted the heroine including Nathaniel and the heroine went on her knees to look at Nathaniel.
“You’re alright?” Miss Vixen questioned the redhead, which nodded at the heroine. “I was passing by here and I wondered if you were okay?”
“I’m fine” Responded Nathaniel, “Mr. D’Argencourt…..reanimated me” Nathaniel explained a little embarassed, making Miss Vixen chuckle.
“Well at least you’re alive and good”
“Yeah” Nathaniel replied nodding at the superheroine. “Thanks for….fishing me out of the water”
“I didn’t it was Cat Noir, but I’ll tell him thank you from you if you want”
“Will you come with us?” Questioned Marc looking back at Nathaniel as Armand D’Argencourt was making his way to the entrance.
“You can go without me, I’ll catch you up later,” Nathaniel said earning a nod from the raven-haired boy, which followed D’Argencourt out of the roof leaving Nathaniel back with his girlfriend.
“Is that Marc?” Questioned Miss Vixen. “The one Kim kissed by accident?”
“Yeah” Responded Nathaniel. “He shows up once in a while during art classes after school. I haven’t seen him in a long while”
“He seems a little crushed on you,” Miss Vixen said making Nathaniel chuckle.
“Where did you get that from?” Questioned Nathaniel raising his left eyebrow a little bewildered.
“Was probably just a weird thought”
“It’s okay Lila….I mean Miss Vixen” Nathaniel corrected as he called his girlfriend by her civilian self. “Sorry”
“It’s alright Nathy,” Miss Vixen said caressing the boy on his cheek. “No harm done,”
Nathaniel smiled at his girlfriend, afterward, he moved his face at Miss Vixen’s pointing his lips, making Miss Vixen smile enamored, which also did the same approaching the boy so the lips of the two would meet for a long kiss. Miss Vixen wrapped her arms around Nathaniel’s back, feeling Nathaniel deeping more their kiss and placing his hands behind Miss Vixen’s neck. Soon her miraculous started to beep dropping her cover down to reveal the citizen Lila Rossi, which still was stick on Nathaniel enjoying their tenderness for each other as the two were still standing on the roof of France’s capital.

A/N: Yes, the title of this fic is named after that one song from High School Musical. Fight me. My first fic! Terrifying. Extra terrifying because I have never written anything in the second person. There should probably be a lot more description but oh well. Hope y'all enjoy tho!!! Feedback is appreciated!!!!!!!! By the fading light of the sun, you twisted and turned in front of your bedroom mirror, attempting to check that you had shaved every hair from your legs without having to walk across the room to the light switch. A quick glance at the clock on the wall told you that you had approximately half an hour before you were being picked up. 
Half an hour. That definitely was not as much time as you thought you had.
Your eyes darted to your bedroom floor, where you could hear a distinct thumping.
"Y/N! Turn that music down!"
You cringed, remembering that your mother had a business call that night. "Sorry, Mom!"
You reached for the remote control that was blasting Beyoncé through your speakers and turned the volume down, resting it on your dressing table as you hummed to the tune of Love On Top. There were several finishing touches that needed to be made.
The first one was another spritz of setting spray, if only to reassure your fear that your makeup would start to slide down your face mid-dance. The second was picking up the necklace that your grandmother had given you for your eighteenth and draping it around your neck, adjusting it a few times to make sure it rested in the centre of your collarbone. The final touch was your shoes, but just staring at the stiletto heels made your feet ache, so you decided to wait until the last second to put those on. 
The sensation that you had become a 'normal teenager' again was a strange one. For once, school was not taking the backseat to tangling with criminals and defending your city on a day-to-day basis. The Avengers had offered to take care of anything that came up while you were at prom - Bucky "I think I would look good wearing your super-suit, to be honest" Barnes leading the charge - and a small part of you wondered what you would have been doing tonight if that offer wasn't there. 
But today, you could just put on some music and a pretty dress and pretend, even only for a few hours, that you were just like every other kid in that room.
You even had a date.
That was the most remarkable thing. With all the time you had dodged your friends and your responsibilities at school you didn't think that anyone had noticed you existed, but you walked into AP Physics one day to find an elaborate bouquet of flowers at your desk. As you admired them, you hadn't noticed the presence behind you until you turned around to find Jordan, your lab partner, holding a posterboard with PROM? written on it in large red letters. He had clearly walked straight off the football pitch, as he was breathing heavily and his hair was wet, but the smile on his face was genuine. 
He was way out of your league. He was ridiculously out of your league. 
The overwhelming fact that the most popular boy in your school had asked you to prom was screaming in your brain as you squeaked, "Yes!"
He laughed, and the students around you applauded politely as he confirmed he would pick you up at 7. That was a month or so ago, and now you looked at the clock again and realised that you had ten minutes.
When you stood up, the train of your floor-length dress tumbled off your lap, swishing as you walked towards the bed to pick up your clutch bag. You twirled a few times for good measure, admiring the way the fabric of the dress rippled as you made yourself slightly dizzy, though whether it was from the spinning or the excitement building in your stomach you couldn't tell.
Was it vanity or self-confidence that you couldn't stop looking at yourself in the mirror?
Thank God for Pepper, you thought, thinking back to your first attempt at choosing a dress. At the first opportunity, you had gone to the mall for an afternoon to pick out the perfect prom outfit. The one small flaw with that problem was that your sense of style was much more sophisticated in your head than it turned out to be in real life. The fuschia, ruffled dress you brought back to the compound - without trying it on - made you look like a cross between grandmother from the 1960s and one of Cinderella's ugly sisters.
You remembered running up to the nearest guest bedroom and trying it on, only to see Peter in the doorway, giggling. 
"What is wrong with it?" You cried, exasperated, as your best friend attempted to control himself. You noticed that he kept his distance, possibly because of the fact that you looked like you would murder him if he dared to insult the dress. And with your martial arts training, it was more than possible.
"Well..." he began, scratching the back of his head as his voice trailed off. "It's not that there's anything wrong with it, it's just..."
"You don't even like prom, so your opinion doesn't count," you said, sticking your tongue out as you continued to stare in the mirror. Did it look more ridiculous the longer you looked?
He shrugged. "Well, I'm not going to win prom king or queen, I don't want to drink the punch, especially if there's alcohol in it, you know the stoners will be doing drugs in the corner and get it shut down, and Ned isn't going either, so I wouldn't have anyon-"
"Shhhh, Peter. Can't you just get caught up in the shallow and superficial magic of prom, even for one night? Jordan has asked me to prom, this is going to be the best night of my life."
If you had been looking at him instead of debating if the dress was the one, you would have seen him wince and smile wistfully at you.
"I hope it is, Y/N." 
Thankfully for both of you, Pepper appeared to call the two of you to dinner. She took one look at the dress and ordered you to take it off.
"Really, Y/N?" She sighed, shaking her head. "I think if you took that home your mother would have a heart attack." 
Ignoring your feeble protests, she insisted on taking you shopping, which was - admittedly - much better for your prom prospects than if you had attempted to choose a dress alone. 
And now you were wearing a midnight blue ballgown - a new colour you had learned, courtesy of the dressmaker - with a lace bodice and tiny sequins that shifted in the light, somehow making it look as though you were wearing constellations. 
It made you look sophisticated. It made you look mature. It made you so much more confident.
Somehow it seemed as though your dreams of a perfect prom were coming true. You had an incredibly attractive date, a dress that made you feel like you were floating, and for once you didn't have to worry about being summoned to stop a bank robbery twelve times a night.
Deep down, you recognised the superficiality of it all. You knew there were much more important things to do in life, but there was just something about prom that made you want to forget all about it. 
You couldn't help but miss Peter, though. When you had said goodbye afterschool the feeling of guilt was unmistakeable.
"You sure you don't want to stay home and have a movie marathon with me? Ned will be there, we were going to get popcorn, and-"
You cut him off gently, but firmly. "After tonight I will have plenty of time for movie marathons, I promise."
"Okay," he smiled at you, but it didn't quite reach his eyes. "Send me loads of pictures!"
"I will!" You called, speeding up so you could catch your bus before it pulled off. You took a moment just to imagine what would have happened if you had turned up to prom with Peter and Ned instead of with Jordan. You would have had a lot of fun, but it definitely wouldn’t have lived up to the image of prom that you had in your head.
For every image in your head of slow dancing with Jordan, another one appeared of you sitting with your friends, devouring the buffet and laughing at everyone who was taking the night way too seriously.
You felt like you were betraying him, but the thought of one perfect moment was too tempting to let go. Well, that was what you told yourself every time your heart ached.
A knock at the door made you jump and the fantasy immediately fell away.
"The lab is going to call me back any minute, are you..." Your mother let out a soft gasp as she saw you standing in front of the mirror. "My god, Y/N, you look gorgeous." 
You blushed, staring down at the floor as your mother came to adjust the pins in your hair. "You're my mother, you're supposed to say that." 
"Okay, don't believe me." She said, folding her arms and fixing you with one of those mother knows best looks. "But every single person at that prom will agree with me." 
But what about the people who aren't at prom? What about the person who isn’t at prom? You thought, and then caught yourself. 
You hadn't noticed that your mother was waiting for you to approve the changes she had made to your hair until she cleared her throat. You also hadn't noticed that you were standing there with a wistful smile on your face until you made eye contact with yourself in the mirror.
"Sorry Mom, thank you." 
"Do I need to stay home tonight to keep an eye on you?" She said, raising her eyebrows. "How much trouble are you going to get yourself into with that smile?"
You laughed. "Don't I get into enough trouble on a daily basis?" 
She rolled her eyes, playfully smacking you on the arm. "This is different, and you know it." Taking your arm, you could see the pride in her face as she spoke, eyes brimming with tears. "You look so grown up." 
"I'll send you as many pictures as I can," you promised.
The sound of her phone buzzing made your mother groan, smiling apologetically as she looked at the screen. "It's Martin."
She mouthed have fun as she walked out talking about thorium and the methodology of various experimental techniques and other things you had elected that you would not understand a long time ago.
An alarm on your phone alerted you to the fact that you had five minutes until you were supposed to be being picked up, so you sat on your bed, strapping each heel on your feet and touching up your lipstick one last time as you heard the door slam beneath you, signaling the fact that your mother had left for work.
Standing at the top of the stairs made you aware of a new problem. How were you going to walk down the stairs in these heels? You settled for taking it one step at a time, clinging to the banister like a cat to the rim of a bathtub. Eventually, face slightly flushed, you were standing in front of the front door.
Where you remained for a further half an hour.
The realm of "Oh, he must just be late," had passed about ten minutes ago. You were pacing up and down your living room, pressing the dial button on your friends' numbers with increasing frustration when they all went to voicemail. The excitement in your stomach had long vanished, though there was something still in there. A kind of creeping dread that gave you shivers the longer the agonising minutes ticked by. 
Your mind was racing through everything that could have possibly happened to make Jordan late. Maybe his car broke down. Maybe he was on his way and his phone was out of battery. No, that one is a lie, you sighed. It was prom, everyone would want to be using their phones to take as many pictures as physically possible. 
Or maybe, the dread in your stomach whispered, maybe he forgot about you.
Maybe it's worse. Maybe he's injured or caught up in the kind of mess you would be taking care of any other night.
Fifteen minutes prior you would have brushed those intrusive thoughts off with a laugh. You knew him well, of course he wouldn't forget about you. 
But now, as the time inched closer to 7pm and the beginning of prom, it didn't seem funny anymore. 
You got up from where you were perched on the edge of the couch to pace back and forth on the floor, having discarded your heels by the door long ago. If you weren't going to get a ride, how were you going to get to prom? Your mom was at work, your friends either together or with their own dates, and you couldn't exactly walk to the Avengers compound to ask them for help, they were definitely busy. The more you thought about having to call a taxi - which would be expensive - or call someone else - who would you call? - the more your stomach sank and the more the idea of prom seemed less appealing. 
Your phone buzzed from the coffee table and you almost tripped over in attempts to reach it. The knot in your stomach twisted tighter when you saw it was an Instagram notification.

Torturously slow, you entered your password and the sound of the phone unlocking filled the otherwise silent room. In the stark light of the phone screen, you could feel your eyes filling with tears as you took in the image in front of you.
Jordan stood in the centre with a winning smile, arms around another girl with a matching grin. 
He did forget about me. As soon as you thought the words, they repeated over and over in your mind. Stumbling backwards, you caught your leg on the arm of the couch, physical pain blending into the emotional as you stood alone in your living room fighting tears. He replaced me. With every repetition it was like the knife was twisting deeper. 
You knew that you hadn't had time to see anyone at school as much in the past few months, but hell, you were coming to terms with being a literal superhero.
Not that they knew that. 
You couldn't count the number of times you and your friends had excitedly sat down to lunch in the cafeteria to discuss how you were all going to prom together. The number of times that you had talked about the music they would play, the decorations that would cover the gym, the boys that you would take - although the identity of those boys had changed what seemed like hundreds of times over the years. 
You felt like such an idiot. He was a football player, had pretty much every girl at school wrapped around his finger. Why would he ever choose you? Clearly he wouldn't, if there was the option to replace you for a pretty cheerleader in a mermaid tail dress.
Your grip on your phone was so tight that you had left the impression of its edge on your palm, but you didn't notice until the notification sound went off again. 
Spiderboi: Are you ready yet??? Has he picked you up? Spiderboi: I wanna see your dress!!!
The sound that came out of your mouth was almost a laugh. Your fingers danced over the keys, typing the first words of ten different replies, then deleting them with a sigh.
Y/N: not rly feeling prom anymore
His reply was almost instantaneous, and it grounded you a little. You moved from where you had been stood aimlessly in the middle of the living room to the windowsill, leaning against it as you typed.
Spiderboi: What? Spiderboi: Why??? I thought you were looking forward to prom Spiderboi: It is literally all you have been talking about for WEEKS
His innocent response threatened to provoke a fresh wave of tears, but you sniffed and held them back as you sent Peter a screenshot of the Instagram post, deciding that in this case no words was the best way to communicate.
You stared at it, the image practically burning itself into your brain as the label underneath the picture went from Sent to Delivered to Read. Within seconds, your phone started buzzing and you picked it up.
He must be able to hear your shallow breathing on the other end of the line. You could feel the flutter of your heartbeat in your chest but you forced yourself to focus on breathing in and out.
"Y/N... I'm so sorry. That's so shitty of him. So unbelievably and massively shitty of him."
"It's fi-" You began, but sighed, realising there was no point in pretending. "I just didn't think he would actually do that to me." The betrayal in your voice was evident even to you.
"I'm sure the rest of them didn't forget about you," he reasoned, and you were forced to admit that he was probably right. "You said that you weren't going to go to the pre-prom because of Jordan, weren't you?"
Yes. "I'm so stupid. I am so so stupid."
"You're not stupid." 
"Peter, I am. I've literally lost count of the amount of times I've nearly died, and I am sat here crying because I've been stood up at prom by some fuckboy."
There was a silence on the other end of the phone, then a tentative, "I... I bet you look beautiful." 
Despite everything, you blushed, and you felt the corners of your mouth lifting up. Trust Peter to find a way to break you out of your spiral, even if it was only for a few seconds.
Why were you blushing?
"Thank you," you said in a small voice, wondering if Peter would still think you looked beautiful if he could actually see you. Your mascara had run down your cheeks in two ashen stripes, your hair had been pulled out of its meticulous styling from all the times that you had run your hands through it, and your lipstick was peeling off from biting your lip so much. If you were going to prom as a glam version of No Face from Spirited Away, you would have fit right in.
The silences between his responses were getting longer and longer, and you felt a twinge in the pit of your stomach when you realised that he was distracted by something. Of course, you then felt incredibly guilty for demanding his undivided attention, especially when it was you who had ditched him tonight. But, he was the only person that had bothered to answer you and if he left you would be back to being alone.
"Hey, Y/N, I'm so sorry but I have to go." And there it was. He didn't sound apologetic though; you could swear that there was a touch of something that sounded like excitement in his hurried words. "Mr Stark sent for me... he said it was important.”
A mission. It must be.
"It's...it's okay, Peter. I'm sure you're busy."
What else could you say? 
Don’t go. Let me come with you.
“Message me, okay? I'll reply when I get the chance. Sorry, Y/N, I really am."
"Bye, Peter," you said just as the phone clicked with the sound of him hanging up, leaving you back where you were in the first place. 
Should you go to prom? Did you even want to go to prom at this point?
The immediate answer was of course not, but the petty part of you imagined walking into prom looking better than you ever had and decking Jordan on sight. You played with the fantasy for a few minutes, replaying it over and over in your mind until it gave you some sort of satisfaction.
When you focused on yourself in the reflection of the window, you saw someone who, sure, might look like a mess at that point, but there was a new kind of resigned determination in your eyes that no matter what, you were going to enjoy your damn prom as much as you could. Fuck him.  
And that started with doing your hair and makeup again.  
You rushed upstairs and sat down at your dresser. The therapeutic power of putting makeup on was incredible, and twenty minutes of concealing, bronzing and highlighting had calmed you down enough that you were singing to your music. You were going to be late to prom, of course, but you wouldn't be crying anymore. 
Your phone was going off with continuous Instagram notifications, so you decided to turn it off and sacrifice responding to a possible message from Peter for not dying a little inside every time you saw photos of your friends singing karaoke in a limo or posing outside your school. 
You weren't going to be pathetic, you had decided that, but the loneliness was the thing that threatened to dismantle your newfound positivity. Would you even enjoy yourself if you went to prom? 
Your date had ditched you for another girl. Surely that story had circulated around the school by now. Most people wouldn't see you as determined. They'd see you as embarrassed and sad.  
You put your head in your hands, indecisive yet again, startled when there was a sharp rapping on your front door. 
You scowled as you ran down the stairs, imagining opening the door to a confused delivery guy in a dress fit for a masquerade ball.
You stared at the floor as you opened the door, eyes unfocused. "I'm sorry, I-" 
Your words died in your throat
"Peter?"
He was stood in the corridor of your apartment complex in a black tuxedo, holding a small bouquet of roses with a soft smile on his face. His eyes widened at the sight of you, taking in every inch of your outfit, and he must realise that you were doing the same to him.
Somehow, seeing him dressed to the nines was doing something to you. You didn't feel like you were looking at your best friend.
"Peter..." you said, keeping one hand on the doorframe as you struggled to form sentences. 
What came out was, "what are you doing here?" But you would have been lying if you said you didn't have an idea.
He stopped fiddling with the cufflinks on his suit jacket and looked up at you bashfully, clearing his throat. "I didn't want you to be alone." 
You could practically feel your heart melting. Fuck Jordan. Fuck him, the cocky shit. Right here was your favourite person, your superhero. And no, this time it wasn't Spider-Man coming to your rescue, it was Peter Parker, and he was still the hero you needed. 
Perhaps not the hero you deserved, though.
"Peter, you hate prom," you began, "you've told me you didn't want to go so many times..."
He visibly squirmed, and then looked down at the floor. "I would have gone if it was with you."  
And with those words, all your struggles, your worries and your petty revenge evaporated and you practically flew into Peter's arms, knocking the beautiful flowers out of his hand.  
"You are the best," You murmured in his ear, to which he simply smiled and said, "I couldn't stand seeing him fuck you over like that."
You frowned. What the fuck were you doing? Hastily you untangled your arms from around his neck and took a step backwards, smoothing your dress down as your face flushed. 
You didn't deserve this. You had spent months taking Peter for granted as you raved about some shallow asshole, and he had made the selfless decision to save you when you deserved to sit at home. The guilt gnawed at you, and looking up at his confused face made your stomach constrict tighter.
Say something. 
"I don't deserve this," you began, playing with the fabric of your skirt as you refused to meet his eyes. Your voice hushed to a whisper. "I was shallow, I got excited by a guy that could offer me popularity and I took you for granted. You don't have to do this for me, Peter."  
You finally gained the courage to look into his eyes, and what you found there only confused you more. The softness in his face hadn't gone away, he didn't look upset, he didn't look like he was about to walk away. If anything, he looked content. 
"Peter?"
Now it was his turn to stare at the floor. His breathing was shaky, like he was steeling himself up for something. 
You started to say his name again, but were cut off when he looked up at you with an urgency that came out of nowhere. Words came out of his mouth at a million miles an hour.
"Y/N, you're my best friend... no, you're more than that. It is always you who is there for me, you put up with everything I throw at you. I would never want to run a mission without you at this point." 
As he rambled you felt a tightness in the pit of your stomach, and you met his gaze with shining eyes.
"So yeah, I let you get excited when Jordan asked you to prom, because you looked so happy. I let you get excited when I was dying inside because..." He muttered something you couldn't hear, going an even deeper shade of red.
You inched towards him, trying to get him to look you in the eye. It was like trying to comfort a startled puppy. "Because...?" You said, gently.
"Because I wish it could have been me." 
You couldn't say anything. Your mouth was open in shock, and try as you might, you had lost the capability of speech. 
He looked up at you with something like panic in his features. "Please... just let me keep going, I have to say this before I go crazy keeping it from you."  
You made no attempts to stop him.
“The truth is… I wish I could be the type of guy that could take you to prom. So badly. I want your mom to take cute pictures of us... and I want to spin you around on the dancefloor and I want to do one of those cute promposals that you watch on YouTube all the time."
You could feel tears start to form in your eyes.
"Tonight, Y/N, God, you look beautiful. I want to tell you that you look like magic because that's how you make me feel when I'm around you. You make my life so much fun, and I don't want to ruin that, but I want you to know that if I had the chance... I would want to be with you every second of every day."
His voice trailed off, and he started to run his fingers through his hair. You felt like you were looking at him for the first time.
"I am so blind."
"What?" He choked out, taking a step back so there were a few inches between you.
Time seemed to elongate, every millisecond you spent staring into his gorgeous eyes felt like an eternity. 
Your gaze drifted down to his lips, causing you to subconsciously bite your own.
There were so many things that you could say.
So you decided instead to softly press your lips to his. Instinctively your eyes closed, and you kissed him with all the things that you weren't able to say. It wasn't what your first kiss had imagined, not fireworks or epiphanies. It felt like you had just turned the key into your home, or curled up by a fireplace. He tasted of warmth, of safety. 
The lunacy of what you just did hit you when the two of you pulled away and Peter's eyes were wide with shock.
Silence filled the room for what seemed like years as you gazed into each other's eyes. 
What the fuck was that? "God, Peter, I am so sorry, that probably wasn't what you-"
He cut you off with another kiss, deeper and more insistent. His fingers tangled themselves in your hair as your arms fell naturally around his neck.
You weren't sure where this desire had come from, but you suddenly started to see your memories in a different way. Your terror that Peter had been injured during a mission wasn't just because he was your best friend. The fury when Liz Allen had broken his heart wasn't just because he deserved better. Your intense feelings of loneliness whenever he left you wasn't just because there was no one else around.
You had been kidding yourself for what must have been months.
When you pulled apart he was smiling like a kid on Christmas morning, and you couldn't help but grin back. His happiness was infectious.
"Are we actually going to go to prom?" 
"It's up to you," he smiled, kissing your hand as you giggled. "But I think there is no way that you can look this good and we don't show anyone." 
"Peter."
"Besides, I want to show this Jordan that he has fucked up, and he has fucked up hard."  
"Peter."

Summary: Jude and Meena’s friendship is complicated; that is known to many. Jude may try to help their friend with their stage fright, but there are times when the jaguar can get too overprotective of their friend. Yes, Jude supports Meena throughout her life when hardships come, but the elephant doesn’t know anything about her friend’s life! But there was a time when this friendship was normal; a time when there were no mysteries, no harm done, no stage fright and when the friendship seemed like any other. So what happened? When did everything change? How did the hardships begin? The only way to know is to go back to when it started.
(Additional notes: Jude is my OC, and they are a jaguar who goes by they/them pronouns; prequel to the ongoing fic Some Moral Support.)
The school day had once again begun for everyone at Catselar Elementary school. Whether they eagerly woke up to their alarm clocks or tried to act sick, the students all made their way to school for the day. It didn’t matter if they came by bus, car, bike or foot; animals of all shapes and sizes arrived for another day of learning, whether they wanted to or not! And for the young calf Meena, she couldn’t be any happier! Because another day at school meant another day with her best friend Jude! School was already fun for her, but “Jude makes it even funner!” as she would say. She scarfed down her breakfast, grabbed her backpack and raced out the door to her bus stop after saying her daily goodbyes and love you’s to her family.
Meena hummed a happy tune as she waited for her bus while other students looked at her with a skeptic expression. But as a cool gust of spring air swept by, they shrugged it off and went back to waiting, thinking that she was only in a good mood that day. But to Meena, it felt like it was going to be the perfect day! Usually every day at recess, the two always sat together while they ate their lunch. They would talk about events that have happened recently-such as a surprise trip to a waterpark-while they ate. Afterwards they would play together,  have their laughs, and on occasion Meena would sing or hum a song. Whenever she did, the jaguar always listened to her and applauded, complimenting her voice. Then on cue, the recess bell would ring and they would go back inside for the day.
But yesterday as Jude listened to their friend hum a song, an idea popped into their head, and the cub thought aloud. “Maybe I could sing you a song.” The jaguar mumbled, unintentionally interrupting Meena’s humming. She turned her head to face her whiskered friend, having to do a double take at her friend’s offer.
“What was that?” She spoke up while her face began to morph into a wide smile, hoping that she heard her friend correctly. The jaguar then realized what they had done, realizing that they had accidentally thought out loud. They broke themself out of their thoughts, visibly embarrassed at their slip up. Jude turned to face Meena, shifting in their brown shorts and yellow shirt, repeating what they thought out loud a moment ago.
“U-uh, maybe I could sing you a song? I mean, almost every day you sing a song while we’re here so maybe I could, sing for you? Sometime?” The cub said slowly. Meena gasped loudly and Jude could see her eyes light up like fireworks. Jude let out a small yelp when Meena grabbed their paws and brought them close to her body.
“That would be amazing!” Meena yelled. She leaped off of the bench they sat on, letting her sneakers scuff the courtyard pavement. Her yellow and orange striped dress waved in the wind as she stood up excitedly. Ever since the two met when they were toddlers, Meena could never recall a time when Jude sang openly around her. She had always imagined that it was simply a case of them being shy, but Meena was never brave enough to ask why to her friend’s face. Every time she tried, she feared that it would make them uncomfortable and she backed out. But now all of that fear had been washed away and she confronted Jude head on. “Can you do it now?”
“U-um, now?” Jude asked while their mouth shifted into an uncomfortable smile.
“Yes!” Jude did not expect their friend’s eager reaction, despite knowing each other for over four years. They began to chuckle out of fear, hoping that Meena was simply joking or that the school bell would ring and save them from being in the spotlight. When Meena did not back down, nor did the bell ring, the cub shut themself up. They looked at another group of children playing Four-Square across the playground as they pulled their legs up to their chest. “I’m not sure if you would like my singing. My voice sounds like garbage next to yours.”
“But that does not mean it’s bad! I’m sure it will be amazing, so come on, sing!” Meena grabbed the jaguar’s paws once again and brought them close to her, shaking in excitement. Before Jude could denounce their skills again, the school bell rang, signalling for all the children to come back inside. Taking the chance of escape, Jude grabbed their lunchbox and spun around Meena to march towards the door. Upset but not losing hope, Meena walked with Jude back to the doors, having to jog to catch back up to them. The cub glanced at their friend and began to regret their actions when they saw the sadness on her face. Jude had rarely ever seen their friend openly upset, so seeing her sad from something they had done made their regret sting even more. So making a last minute decision, Jude tapped their partner on the shoulder to grab their attention.
“I’ll sing tomorrow at recess if you wear your favorite dress.” they whispered into her giant, outstretched ears. Hearing those words instantly restored Meena’s mood. With the biggest, toothiest grin she could possibly wear, the calf nodded and shook their smaller paw to confirm their deal. Then the two separated to sit in their separate desks and mentally prepare themselves for the next day.
So there Meena was that next day; sitting on the bus seat with her multi-colored, polkadot dress. She dangled her legs off the edge as she sat in solitude, barely containing herself from bouncing off the walls of the bus. She had only worn her favorite dress on special days, such as birthdays, holidays or when her friends were joining her for a day at the street fair. But that day was just as important as-no, more important than those days! She wanted recess to come as soon as possible so she could hear her best friend sing! Her only hope was that Jude didn’t get sick the night before or have something more important to do at recess.
As the bus rolled into Jude’s stop, Meena stood on her creaking seat and stared out the window to try and see her friend, in hope that they would see her (and her dress) and wave back at her. But for a reason unknown to her, the jaguar wasn’t there. She kept her hopes up and stared at the school bus door, expecting to see her friend hop on first since she couldn’t see them out the window. ‘Maybe they are as excited as me and can’t wait to sing!’ the calf thought. When all the other kids walked on and the bus pulled away, Meena looked out the window once again to try and spot Jude running after the bus. They did have a tendency to oversleep sometimes, and when they did, their father would have to drive them in during one of the morning classes. But once again, there was no sign of Jude.
Meena stepped away from the window, visibly upset by Jude’s disappearance. While other students stole a glance at her then brushed her off, she felt as if her worries became true and they did get sick. Meena wondered if that was the case or if they were too scared to sing to her. ‘No.’ She shook away her suspicions, focusing on the rest of the day that was ahead of her. ‘No, they’re just late again, they’ll be here by lunch time! Even if they’re sick today! I’ll see Jude again on Monday when they’re better, and I can hear them sing then!’ She forced her good mood back into her mind and jumped back down into their seat, causing something inside it to let out an ear-piercing SNAP!
She looked down at the seat in slight shock from the accident she had made. Realizing that she felt a new, strange dip in the seat, the calf panicked and stepped off onto the floor to look at her seat at every angle to see what broke. After a few moments, Meena had also noticed that the rest of the bus had gone silent after the accident. She peeked out into the hall of the bus to find that nearly all the other students were looking over their seats to find the source of the noise. When they all saw the young elephant instead, the students began to snicker. Meena normally liked having the attention on her, but that was only when it was in a positive way. Her outstretched ears folded inwards as she crept backwards to the unbroken part of her seat. She could hear the three baboon bullies four seats ahead of her snicker and laugh at how she was able to snap the seat with her weight alone. Meena sank into the corner of her seat, trying to ignore the trio.
The bullies had been friends since meeting each other in first grade; their first shared encounter was made throwing insults at each other. The reason they started to fight was unknown, but what is was that the three were all forced in a group together for a project. All three of the baboons screamed at each other for the entirety of the class period, much to the dismay of everyone else around them. By the end when they were out of breath but still brimming with insults, the three walked out with a newfound respect for each other. Since then, they have bonded over taunting those they thought would break down, and even four years later they still keep up their antics of verbal torture. Nobody could stop them even if they tried-and many students and adults alike had. Many have said that the trio are “just jealous of the people they taunt” and “have it rough back at home so are mean to cope.” But in truth, they were simply having fun together the best way they knew how.
As Meena arrived at her first class, she once again searched for Jude while practically racing in to find them. After taking deep breaths to recover, Meena’s mood dropped once again when they were still nowhere to be found. As the class continued, she expected to see her friend walk in like they usually do on their late days and try to catch up with the daily worksheet. But with each minute she wasted looking at the door, the elephant wasn’t able to finish her schoolwork in time for the bell. For the majority of the hour, she kept looking back at the door, waiting for her best friend to walk in. It was the same process for the second class period as well: Search for Jude, get distracted, search more, ignore the classwork, move on to the next class.
In the third class period, she repeated the same process, thinking that it would yield different results. As she looked for the eighth time that period, she could hear the familiar snickering of the baboon bullies from a couple desks down. Meena tried to ignore them, knowing that listening to what they say would only be a waste of time. ‘They only make fun of you because they’re jealous of you darling.’ Her grandmother once said. ‘Simply just ignore them sweetie; they have no weight behind their words.’ But to her dismay, her hearing was too excellent to block out any noise, no matter how quiet. And thus, she could hear every word they said about her.
“Hehe, look at her! Fat princess thinks her knight is going to come for her!” The first baboon spoke loud and proud. Meena winced.
“Haha, she’s a fatso! Did you hear that snap this morning?! I bet she could break a roof with her body alone if she tried!” The second whispered. Meena’s ears folded inwards.
“Huehue, that dress is so ugly! All that color makes me wanna puke! I think it needs some mud to balance the barf!” The third said as if it was a normal conversation for them (which in actuality it really was). Meena sulked in her seat; her mood taking a complete nosedive.
Meena stayed in her seat and focused on the work for the rest of day; attempting to block out the insults thrown by the three baboons. The calf tried to cover her face from the three using her giant ears as a double with an attempt to block out the insults. The baboons harassed people on a daily basis, and Meena was their latest target. For the rest of the day, they would make fun of Meena at every opportunity. Meena knew that if Jude were here, they would stand up for her and try to get them to stop, but today her friend was gone doing who knows what. All she could do was sit down and take the blows as they all came.
As the recess bell rang, Meena grabbed her lunch box and trudged out the door to reach her usual bench. The three baboons from class were still making fun of her, so she power walked out of there as fast as she could. She could feel the stinging in her eyes, noticing that she was on the verge of tears. The calf tried to suck them back into their eyes before she could cry; she didn’t want to cry now, it would just give the bullies more reasons to throw insults at her. The day had gone completely opposite of what she had expected. The baboons, the seat, Jude; things weren’t going her way at all that day. She couldn’t wait to go back home to her family.
That was what she thought until she spotted Jude sitting on their usual lunch bench!
Her mood skyrocketed from rock bottom and the little elephant began to squeal, making a mad dash to her best friend. Her favorite dress flapped violently in the wind while she made sprinted and, that combined with the squealing, caused many of the other students to look her way. Some were confused to why she was so happy while others laughed at the noise she made, along with when she was completely out of breath when she made it to the bench. But that didn’t matter to the young calf at all! ‘They’re here! I can hear Jude sing now!’ After taking deep breaths to recover from the sprint, Meena stood up straight and faced Jude with an ear-wide smile.
“Hi Jude!” She practically yelled to her friend, making them jump from surprise.
“Ah, h-hey Meena.”
“So how do you like my dress?” the elephant twirled around in her favorite tea-length dress to show it off to the jaguar, not able to contain herself to do it once more. She giggled as she planted her feet on the ground to prevent herself from doing it a third time. She was just so excited that her best friend was here to see her dress, and even more excited to hear them sing! All of the terrible things that had happened earlier that day had completely slipped her mind! She opened her eyes, recovering from her happy high, and took a look at their friend to see their smile.
But Meena didn’t see a smile.
She thought that Jude would be ecstatic to see the dress, but instead it seemed that they were on the verge of tears. Meena tried to get close to the cub to see what was wrong, but when Jude noticed her approach, they turned away in a panic. Her yellow and black-spotted friend tried to hide their tears in their legs, pulling their knees as close to their body as possible. Meena immediately assumed to be what she thought was the worst: Jude was too scared to sing and didn’t like the dress. But as Meena looked closer at her friend, she noticed several disturbing clues that stuck out to her like a sore thumb.
Jude was wearing brown shorts and a yellow shirt: the exact same clothes they had worn the day before. Normally her friend had a wide variety of colorful clothes to wear, so why did they not change? ‘Maybe Jude was more focused on the song they were going to sing?' She searched more, spotting a strange spot on both the jaguar’s fur and shirt that was a different color from the rest. It was faint, but looking close enough Meena found a white stain on Jude’s shirt sleeve. The other half that was on Jude’s fur stood out more, as it seemed rough and messy. When Meena sat on the bench next to her friend, she could smell an unknown yet sweet aroma coming from them. To the elephant it smelled like fruit juice, but ‘I don’t know any juice that smells like that.' Meena lifted her lunchbox onto her lap, seeing if Jude would do the same. But then Meena realized, looking around, that Jude didn’t bring a lunch box today! But using her expert hearing, the calf heard a low growl come from Jude’s stomach, along with a whimper short after. ‘Did they eat at all since yesterday?’ Something was definitely wrong and Meena knew it, but she didn’t know what it was.
Hearing more snickering with her excellent ears, she found the baboon bullies looking at the two friends, laughing at Meena’s run and Jude’s clothes. An idea hit her when she saw them: what if they did all of this to Jude? ‘They beat Jude up and stole their lunch at the bus stop, and Jude had to walk here because that was why they missed the bus!' Her anger flared at the trio; picking on her best friend of all people? They were already too mean to the students here; this was going too far! But as she was standing up to confront the three, a thought came to her.
‘But wait... why did Jude’s dad not drive them in during classes then? Wouldn’t they ask him to since they missed the bus?’ Meena sat back down on the bench. ‘Jude didn’t come in during class, but they were already out here during recess. Don’t they have to go to the office first?' Meena thought hard to wrap her head around this mystery, trying to think of a reason why Jude was so late, had no lunch, looked the way they did and was so upset even after seeing her. Most times, if the two friends saw each other, they would both get a giant smile on both of their faces. After trying to think of a reason until her brain hurt, Meena decided that the best way to know what was happening was to simply ask.
Meena reached out and gently placed their paw on her friend’s shoulder, trying to see if they could face her. But when she did so, the jaguar flinched on contact, spinning around to prepare as if they expected some sort of attack. Meena reeled back from shock, and when Jude realized that they had made their friend scared as well, they turned away once again and pulled their legs as close to their chest as possible. Meena was almost certain then that it was the bullies that did this! ‘The bullies beat them up at the bus stop, and that’s why Jude is so scared! That does it, when recess ends I’ll tell a teacher and those three will finally get it!’ But since Jude was still scared next to her, Meena tried to calm her friend down by holding their paw. She looked Jude in the eyes and saw that tears were rolling down their cheeks. With her hearing, she also noticed that Jude’s breath was incredibly shaky; they sounded as if they were scared for their life! But after getting a solid look at them, they found the most horrifying fact out of everything.
Jude had no whiskers. Every single one of the long hairs on Jude’s face was gone, leaving nothing but the imprints of where they used to be. There was no doubt about it; somebody pulled out every single one of Jude’s whiskers the day before. Meena gasped in horror for her friend while unwillingly imagining the pain that they went through. All of the rage that directed at the bullies shifted into remorse for her friend. There was no logical way that the whiskers weren’t connected to Jude’s behavior that day. ‘Was all of this still the bullies?’ Meena questioned. ‘They’ve called other kids names but they’ve never really hurt someone. Especially not like this.’
“Jude, w-what happened to you? Who did this to you?” Meena tried to pry, shifting her entire body to face her friend. She absolutely had to know who did this to them, but their current state mattered the most out of everything in that moment. The fur underneath Jude’s eyes became slick from the salty tears; they weren’t able to get a single word in through their rapid breaths and silent sobs. Meena let go of their paws, letting Jude cover their face and wipe away the tears. While bringing their paw back down,  Meena’s friend felt at the whisker imprints left on their face, wondering if everything was only a dream and the whiskers were already back. But when they felt nothing, they pushed their head back into their legs to cower. It was then that Meena realized the truth of the situation.
‘This… is much more than just the bullies. This is worse, much, much worse.’ Meena thought . ‘But whatever happened to them is too scary to talk about. They’re scared when I even try to reach out to them and they can’t stop crying. The bullies could never do something like this; this is much more than the other kids here at school
...The singing can wait for another day.’
Meena zipped open her lunch box and placed it on the bench, pushing it closer to Jude. The young cub lifted their head up from the legs, hesitantly staring at the food inside as if it was some sort of trick. Meena gestured the food to them, saying “It’s fine. I’m not hungry anyways.” Jude reached out a shaking paw for an apple, picking it up as if it was somebody’s most prized possession. They stared at it for a few moments; Meena could see Jude’s eyes start to water again. When her friend looked back up to her, she nodded and tried to give her friend the most comforting smile she could show.
“Jude, I don’t know what happened to you and I want to make sure that you’re okay. But if you don’t want to talk about it, that’s fine. We can save the singing for another day.” She spoke as gently as possible, attempting to calm them down. “Just know that if you want to talk to me you can. You are my best friend Jude, and I’ll always be there for you. I promise.” Her friend looked down at the apple again, staring at it in awe as if it was a diamond. To Meena’s relief, Jude finally smiled again, sniffling as they put down the apple. She could see more tears start to fall, making the calf worry if they accidentally said something wrong. As she went to ask again, the jaguar leaped across the bench to her friend and pulled her in for a tight hug. Meena was caught off guard at first, but did the same once she realized that Jude needed a hug. Badly.
The two held each other tight for a long time. Within their friends arms, Jude finally let it all out. They cried, wailed and hiccuped right into their friend’s ears, but Meena didn’t care. Meena could feel snot and tears fall on the back of the rainbow-polkadot dress, but she didn’t care. She could see more students staring at the two; a couple of them even snickered at the sight, but Meena didn’t care. The dress didn’t matter to her, the bullies didn’t matter to her, nobody else at the elementary school mattered to her. In that moment only Jude mattered; best friends are supposed to take care of each other after all. The calf gently rubbed her friend’s back, copying what her father did whenever Meena was crying about something. “It’s okay, I’m here.” Her voice was soft, yet was still slightly shaky. As recess time passed, the cub began to quiet and calm down, much to the relief of their best friend. After many strange glances over to the two friends came and went and recess was close to ending, Jude had finally completely calmed down. The two pulled away and looked at each other and, with one final sniffle, Jude gave Meena what she wanted; a genuine smile.
“Go on, eat!” Meena spoke, back in her upbeat mood once more. Jude nodded and began to reach for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, which was sliced in half by Meena's mother as it usually was. But both of the friends were caught off guard when the three baboons rushed by and swiped up the lunch box right from between them! On instinct, Meena yelled out a “Hey!” and she ran after the baboons with Jude right behind her, chasing the three around the playground. As they ran, the baboon bullies passed the bag of delectable goodies between them, turning the chase into a game of pickle. Meena and Jude ran back and forth between the three, trying to get the lunchbox back so Jude could eat. But with each pass and sharp turn to the next bully, Meena’s breathing got more and more intense. Eventually, her head became light and she collapsed into the mud. Her polka-dot dress became stained beyond belief. Jude rushed to their friend’s side to make sure that she was okay.
“Huehue, look at these two! The knight has come to save the hopeless, helpless princess!” The third bully mocked. The jaguar cub flashed a glare to the bully.
“Hahaha, look at Meena’s knight! Acting all tough but deep down, Jude is just one big, weak crybaby!” The second baboon insulted. Meena began to whimper from how messy her favorite dress was.
“Hehehe, look at the special snowflake! She thinks that she’s the most beautiful in the school, but she’s actually just a big, fat, crybaby loser!” The first yelled. Jude tried to comfort Meena the same way she did to them.
All three of them laughed and pointed at the young calf, repeatedly calling her names. “Fatty!” “Fatso!” “Special snowflake!” “Loser!” “Fat princess!” “Crybaby!” Meena sat up and tried to yell back at them, saying that they were “wrong! I’m not fat! I’m not!” The baboons didn’t care, they kept harassing her. Meena’s eyes stung and her vision became fuzzy. The young calf got on their hands and knees, letting the salty tears drop from her eyes down into the mud. She tried as hard as she could to block out the insults, but her ears wouldn’t allow it. Jude tried to help Meena up, but stopped as she began to openly sob.
“They’re right.” Meena whispered, giving in to the harassment. “I am fat. I broke my bus seat this morning, I can barely run across the playground without getting tired, I am fat.” She cried as she accepted the bullies’ insults. “I knew all this time. I knew it but never did anything about it. I am fat.” Her own sobs began to drown out the rapid string of scream as she tried as hard as she could to get the insults out of her mind. She wailed at the “truth” she had realized that day, crying louder than she ever had been before.
Then another noise came into Meena’s earshot. A low growl. She wiped her eyes and looked around, trying to find the source. The calf assumed that it was Jude’s stomach again, but it sounded deeper in pitch and more fierce. When she saw the baboon bullies, Meena realized that they had dropped her lunch box, scattering its contents, and were walking slowly backwards. For the first time since arriving at this school, Meena saw that the three were actually afraid. They were never scared even if the three were threatened to be suspended by the principal. As for what they were afraid of, she turned her head again and found the source.
Jude.
Her friend was on all fours, leaning down in a hunting position to prepare to pounce. They bared their sharp fangs to pair the deep growl, causing the bullies to quiver in terror. As the cub crawled forwards, they flicked out their claws which-while still growing-still looked sharp enough to get the job done. Jude’s eyes were wide and filled with rage that was visible to any naked eye, and that rage was directed right at the bully trio. The quiet, respectable friend they knew had turned into a beast, dead set on making the trio pay for what they did to her friend.
“J-Jude?” Meena’s voice wavered; stricken with fear from seeing her best friend in such a frightening state. ‘This is a dream, right? This has to be a dream, Jude wouldn’t ever be like this!' Behind her, she could hear the three baboons start to sprint away from the monster that was the calf’s friend with all of the effort they could muster. But that wouldn’t do any good. Jude bent down farther, then just like a savage beast, it pounced towards Meena.
Meena sat up in a cold sweat, breathing heavily. Still shaken by the sight of her friend, she looked around, trying to find Jude and stop them from hurting anyone else. That was when she realized she was sitting in her bed, back in her room in the present. The light of the setting moon shined through the window, helping her get a grasp on reality. The fully grown elephant took deep breaths to calm down, trying to remind and confirm to herself that all of that was only a dream. Meena jumped when she heard another low, snarling-like noise, making her fear spike once again, and she looked around frantically to try and find it. Peeking over the side of her bed, she saw Jude, sleeping on her spare mattress on the floor and snoring quite loudly. The elephant grabbed her phone and looked at the time: 3:27AM. Meena dropped her phone back onto her bedside table and reality came back to Meena quick.
‘That wasn’t a dream,’ she thought, ‘that actually happened. I was there, I actually wore that dress, the baboons really said all of those insults to us and Jude really did do… that.' Meena had dreamed of when it had all started. The day Jude became overprotective of their best friend, the day everyone around Meena began to drift away from her, and the day her hatred of the spotlight began. Ever since that day, Meena’s world had completely changed. Her friends, her family her life; all that changed starting on that day.
Now, Meena was back in the present. The events of yesterday afternoon flashed quickly through her mind. Grandpa’s birthday, the cake, Jude arriving out of nowhere, the flyer for the singing competition, Meena accepting it and all the practice that she did to prepare for it. Meena had agreed to let Jude stay the night here, since rehearsals were early the next morning and it had been a while since the two had met outside of their countless jobs. Meena looked down at her mystery of a friend, who was still unaware that she was watching them.
“Jude…” Meena whispered. “I have so many questions. What happened back then? Why did you do that to the bullies? What did you go through the night before, and why have you changed so much since then?” Jude snored for a response. The elephant sighed, fully aware that her friend wasn’t going to give such a concrete answer, asleep or awake. She crawled back under her blankets, trying to get a little more sleep to prepare for tomorrow’s auditions. As she laid down under her blankets and her eyelids once again became heavy, one last thought came to her mind.
‘Maybe while you’re here, I can finally get the answers to the questions I’ve been asking for so long.’

Mission Briefing (ゴッドモードアーク (Goddomodoaku) (God-mode Arc)
The sun dawned upon the school. It was about 7 in the morning. Everyone woke up, ready to take back what belonged to them: freedom and prosperity. Frisk got up early, and proceeded to wake Sans and Chara. About 10 minutes later, all the people in the school gathered in the cafe. They had random chatter polluting the entire area with unintelligible utterances. Chara and her family grabbed a microphone and some other things that were needed. Then came her announcement. "EXCUSE ME! MAY I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION, PLEASE?!" She yelled over the microphone. The noise went away quickly. "Thank you. Now everybody, it's important for all of you to know exactly what's going on because you all deserve the truth, so here it is, all of it. As you all currently know, there is a man out there named Talrok. He is a powerful being. He is neither monster nor human; he is a hybrid between the two races, but not just any hybrid, a perfect hybrid. He has powers that are currently beyond our understanding. One of those powers, thanks to his hybridity, is being able to extract the soul of any living being and absorb it. Therefore, it is extremely important that all of you remember this warning: if you are human, NEVER ENGAGE THAT MAN. Your only arguable hope for survival, if you are around him, is to hide and pray he does not find you. As for the monsters, you are not his targets, but he won't hesitate to kill you if you get in his way. So please don't try to go after him at all. That means everyone but Frisk and I." "What?! Why not?!" Undyne shouted, feeling offended. "Undyne, he's more powerful than you! If Frisk can beat you, Talrok can turn you to dust if he wants to!" "Well if that's true, why are you two going alone?!" A random human heckled. More humans and monsters agreed to that question. Chara got annoyed, but she became brutally honest. "Because we don't want anybody to die unnecessarily. He WILL kill you if you either get in his way, or have something he wants from you. Plus, there's a strong chance that even if you humans did come with us to fight back, he would rip your soul right out of your body, and absorb it. After that, he would do so for many more and acquire enough power to destroy us all anyway. So for the sake of everyone, under absolutely NO circumstances are any of you to interfere." "Well, what if we shot him up and stuff?" "Probably wouldn't help. There's a chance that weaponry of any type wouldn't be of any use against him; he would probably take what you have, and turn it back on you. Even if he can't do that, his healing abilities would render everything you throw at him pointless. I'm warning every human in here right now: don't bother trying to kill him if you don't know how to." "And you do?" Asriel asked, feeling scared for Chara's life. "If none of us can kill him, at least tell everyone his plan! You know his plan, so tell them!" "Fine. Listen closely, everyone; I'm only going to say this ONE TIME: Talrok's plan is to turn every last human on the planet into monsters. In order to do so, he will need a supermassive amount of power. He will also need to utilize the amalgamates and the residual magic within Mount Ebott to perform the whole procedure. There is a power source with the mountain. It has been named the CORE. The CORE was invented by a monster named Dr. W.D. Gaster, which is short for Dr. William Daniel Gaster. He has informed me and my friends and family of Talrok's plan. After obtaining the amalgamates, residual magic and the power of the CORE, he will reverse the polarity of human souls and turn their owners into monsters instead. After that, he will kill every last monster on the face of the earth. Finally, he will use the accumulated power he will possess to destroy everything." "Wait." Asked an inquisitive monster. "By 'everything', do you mean EVERYTHING, or do you mean just the world?" "He will destroy everything. And by everything, I mean everything. The universe in its entirety. All things, every single thing. He will literally extinguish every last trace of light or existence there is to extinguish. Now I'll admit, some of you guys are pretty strong, but Talrok is beyond strength. He is the end, and he will come for all of you if Frisk and I can't stop him." Many of the monsters and humans murmured in fear and confusion. "Excuse me, Chara?" Said a voice in the crowd. "I'm sorry, but with all due respect, I-" Chara stopped when she saw the source of the voice. It was Toriel. "Mom, come on. I'm sorry, but I can't let you help me this time. This is my and Frisk's mess, and we have to clean it up." "I refuse to let you go out there on your own to fight Talrok. We may not be able to damage him, but we can all at least by you a few moments if we give him some people to hunt. I can buy you at least a couple of seconds if I get in his way." "Is that so?" Asgore said, making himself visible. "In that case, I can double that time." Some of the others agreed on that. More monsters volunteered to fight alongside Chara and Frisk, but Chara didn't want that. "Everyone, please stop. I don't want anyone to get hurt or worse." "Chara, you and Frisk are not fighting Talrok without backup, and that is final!" Chara got frustrated. She wasn't going to make Toriel see it her way easily. "Mom, look. Do you remember when I broke your vase by accident and tried to blame it on Asriel, even when you knew he was with dad?" "Yes. I told you that you were not allowed to be in that room. And then you told me some convuluted speech about there may come a time in which you would have to disobey me. You even proceeded to ask whether you would still be grounded if that situation were to occur, and I said yes. I grounded you that day because you blamed someone else for your wrongdoing, and you tried to get out of it. Is that what this is about?" Chara held her head in shame. "Yeah. I said that one day, I might have to disobey you. Well...sorry, mom, but I have to now. The day has come. Though I was afraid it would, if it's any consolation, mom." "You are NOT fighting alone, and that is final!" Asgore demanded, putting his foot down. "Dad, please! I don't wa-" "Am I not the king of monsters?! Do I not rule over a people that would rather stand and fight than watch their hopes and dreams DIE BEFORE THEM?!" "Yes, technically you are, bu-" "Good! That is what I intend to do, even if it means I die protecting my own children!" Toriel linked her arm with Asgore's, and they both approached Chara. "Well? You heard your father, young lady! We are fighting alongside you, whether or not you approve!" Toriel said, ready to turn Talrok into cinders. All the monsters got some of the extra courage floating around Asgore and Toriel, and they stood ready to fight for their lives. They all cheered for Asgore. The humans were so inspired, they applauded the king, and chanted his name. Chara had enough; she couldn't talk anyone out of it anymore. "ALRIGHT! You guys want to help us out that badly? FINE! I guess there's no talking anyone out of it at this point, is there?" "No, there isn't!" The entire crowd shouted. "Fine. All of you...have my permission...to help us." Chara stepped to her parents while everyone cheered, expecting to be scolded. Asgore simply placed his hand on her shoulder. "Chara, I'm proud of you. You were willing to lay down your life in exchange for everyone else. You have made us both very proud. Even if we fail, that will never change." Chara hugged her parents. She sniffled a little, too. "Mommy, daddy, please don't die. I love you." "We love you, too." Both of the boss monster said, returning Chara's hug. Frisk approached all three of them. "Hey, Chara, you say your goodbyes yet? You ready to go? Do you even wanna go?" He asked as he noticed Chara shaking a little. "Whoa. Are you okay? You're not scared, are you?" "Yes, I'm scared. I don't know if this will work. I don't wanna leave mom and dad right now, but I'll try to get it together. I promise." Frisk gave her a hug as well. "It's okay. I get it. I'm scared, too. I was trembling just like you are. I don't wanna lose Sans and Papyrus; they're the best brothers I ever had." "Oh, so mine isn't enough?" Chara said, trying to shake her and Frisk's tension off. They both did a small chuckle to each other. "Anyway, Frisk, I don't wanna go, but I don't have a choice at this point, so I'll get moving." "Better hurry up and get ready, then." "Yeah. Guess I should." Frisk and the Dreemurrs moved to Sans and Papyrus. "Hey, Sans. Papy." Frisk said as Sans and Papyrus put a hand on each of his shoulders. "You got this, lil' bro." Sans said, trying to inspire Frisk. "That's right, brother. Talrok has nothing on you!" Papyrus imitated. "Thanks, you guys." Said Frisk and Chara. They both went onward alone, but they were stopped by Sans, Papyrus and the Dreemurrs. "Frisk? A request if we could." Asked Asgore humbly. "Please take care of my daughter. Look after her." "You got it, your majesty." Said Frisk. "Hey princess. Keep an eye out for my bro, 'kay?" Sans said with a slightly wavering voice. "Sure. I'll do what I can." Said Chara. They all obtained earpieces to communicate with each other as they stepped outside to the entrance of the school, with Frisk and Chara stepping down to the street first. "Alright. Ready, princcccc...prizzzz...prrrrrr..." Frisk stuttered, trying to call Chara by her title. Chara laughed. "Dude. It's cool. You don't have to call me princess. I know what you mean." She assured. "Really?" "Yeah." They blushed a little and held hands. Toriel and Asriel teared up a little. "Don't let my sister die, asshole!" Asriel tried to threaten. "My little girl's growing up!" Toriel wailed. "It's so touching! I'm so proud of you, sweetie!" "Not now, mom. Suck it up." Chara said, feeling a little nervous and embarrassed. "Alright, let's do this, Frisk." Frisk and Chara took a deep breath, and a red aura surrounded their bodies as they levitated into the air. Then their eyes started glowing red as their respective powers showed. Chara's body was encompassed by electricity, and Frisk summoned rocks all over his chest and limbs, with the exception of his head, and fire and concrete orbited him quickly. They both blasted off at high speed, homing in on Talrok. "Make us proud, you two. Make us proud." Mettaton said, saluting and shedding a tear for both of the hybrids as they flew toward their targets. They were ready to fight the good fight for the lives of many, and everyone else was ready to give them some help. And boy, were they gonna need it.

I've been.... Kind of getting myself into some deep shit but I'm trying to sort out who I can trust and who I can't. I think the problem is that the people I really genuinely want to open up to and trust are people who are going to beat me in the end, and that scares me.
Basically I went to Kait and we pretty much laid everything out there about how Jake was being sketchy and throwing me under the bus when I had nothing to do with it. I don't remember if I talked about this in another confessional or not dsakjhdfs basically Jake lied to Jenn and co. about me and made up shit about me and didn't tell me so that's cool, yeah.
I just talked to Kait a lot last night and was honest with her. I'm not dumb, I know how people perceive things happening in the game. They think Jimmy/Jenn/Kait are close, they know Abbey and Lydia are close, they assume Gage and I are close. And I confronted Kait about it kind of and we talked about how it isn't always best to just pigeonhole yourself into playing with people you're already friends with. She seemed genuinely worried about her other tribe, so I suggested that her and I figure out some way to control what happens on this tribe and keep her safe on the other. Her and Lydia are the only two going to both tribals, so I brought up the fact that they need to stick together, and so the three of us ended up making a group and talking things out and like kjsdhjdfs it was harder than I thought because obviously there are conflicts of interest?
Kait said to me she would vote out Jimmy or Jenn if she got to pick which one. But then Jenn Jimmy and Gage all wanted to vote Abbey this time. I don't want Abbey to leave, because Lydia is my number one and Abbey is a number for us... But there is NO reason for Kait to keep Abbey. Kait says that if Abbey goes this round, Jenn or Jimmy will go the next time we go to tribal, and I think she's telling the truth. But Lydia doesn't want the ONE person she feels close to to leave. And I think that's valid... But also, Gage Jenn and Jimmy are all on my other tribe and they're the ONLY other options. It all comes down to Abbey's lack of challenge skills to me, because I literally do NOT want to go to tribal anymore... But I don't know how to make Lydia pleased with that decision.
Basically... I really do want the group with Lydia and Kait to succeed, it's just harder than I imagined. In sociology today we talked about triads, groups of three people, and the way they interact, and I can see the parallels between that discussion and the game.
In a triad, one of the three people can take on the role of mediator, which is what I'm trying to do. I'm trying to resolve conflict and bring the two of them together...
But then that person can also be a tertius gaudens as well, who profits from the disagreement between the two. And ideally, this is what I'd be. I'd like to profit from any conflict between any two people... The only problem is the people themselves. I don't want Kait to go yet, I don't want Lydia to go. I genuinely like them both. I literally feel like Bella in between Edward and Jacob except I'm sexually overactive and want to have both of them dsfkjhdsfj 
I have every intention of sticking by Lydia. I won't go against her. She's been the ONLY person in this game to be honest to me about EVERYTHING before everyone else. 
Kait and I talked a lot about feeling left out and how she felt that way sometimes and I sympathized with that. I felt that way before in this game. And it's that kind of thing that makes me really not want to go against Kait either. And I know how sensitive she can be about things, and I don't want to risk losing her friendship over a game. 
But also I'm not stupid. I'm not going to take people to the end that I can't beat. I'm just focusing on short-term until merge. Once I make it there and I cans top worrying about all the two-game shit, then I can focus on who I want to be at the end with. It's just... A lot of the non-entities in the game are going now because everyone is afraid.
In a triad, there are only two possible outcomes that fit the four main rules of transitivity: In one outcome, all three members of the triad work together, get along, and thrive as a social system. In the second outcome, two of the members do this, and one person is left out completely. 
I feel like this is going to happen... One of these outcomes. Most likely the second. I just need to try not to face any backlash when it does.
I've gotta be the mediator here, so I pushed for Abbey, because I know it's the choice that makes unity as a tribe. I need to talk to Lydia real soon about why I advocated the way I did.
And if we do go to tribal again, I guess that's the real test of Kait's trust.

So just to keep this mess here
So in case anyone wants to know the story. Here’s what happened! Kait, Jenn, Jessy and I were in an alliance together and after I talked to Jenn and Kait about voting out Jimmy last round, leaving all of us still in the game, they basically said no. So after that Jessy was fighting her ass off to stay and was doing anything she could. She made up some lies, I made up some lies because I love her and I would do anything for her. So yeah I lied to Kait and Jenn after the fact they made it clear that my interests or jessy’s interests were shit to them since they only care about each other. Jenn did this exact same thing to me in another game so like I’m not surprised here. So I get to this new tribe and Kait is here, right. So y’know I feed her bullshit since I’m really mad at her secretly and go along with whatever she tells me. And I’m online all day with my tribe trying to figure out anything to do, but no one is talking. Kait decides to tell Steffen that I was throwing his name out there, which isn’t true at all. Kait and I narrowed it down to Steffen or Jack to who we would fake vote for since obviously we were both being fake as fuck to each other. So I guess Kait manipulates those messages and manipulates Steffen and Lydia in the process. Even tho mind you these were both my allies from my original tribe that I had loyalty to. And even the fact that I’m known to be a loyal player unless you fuck with me (Kait) and Kait is known for being ruthless and doing anything to get to the end, my tribe decides it’s best to get me out. Oh mind you I’m the best competitor on this tribe. Not tooting my own horn, just looking back at past performances. Anyway I just want to applaud the FUCK out of Kait for literally CLOCKING me. I’m being serious like I’m really impressed with her to turn people who I was with against me like .. oh wow I’m shook. So yeah just wanted EVERYONE to know the situation that happened because boy was it WILD. Kait is playing one hell of a game and I applaud her so much.

i don't even know how to process all of this that has happened today. 
jake? can choke. i am over the disgusting emotional manipulation. i'm OVER him making jenn cry and making her feel like a bad person for voting jessy out. get over it. i'm OVER, him making me cry by also fucking with my emotions. it's not funny, it's not a nice way to play, it's not a smart way to play. it makes you an asshole. i'm tired of it i'm not putting up with it. 
he goes to me this morning saying that i should just vote lydia out of my other tribe and i'm like excuse me? who died and made you the fuckening dictator of this game? so anyways i explain to him that i don't think it wise for me to vote against lydia at this vote since i know for sure she's not leaving in B, like it's just out of the question. it would put me in a bad spot like i'm not going to do that, plus? i'm doing everything in my power to like fix things with lydia and i want to actually work with her and be good with her, so yeah not happening . then all of a sudden jake quits replying to me and i'm like okay........ 
so then my plan of attack is to rat jakey out SDGJKD which is messy but whatever it works. i rat jake out to both jack and steffen because jake is all oh well i don't wanna vote pat and carson then because they're on my other tribe also so then it comes down to jack and steffo. clearly i tell jack this because i was already on the fence about where jack stood in this game prior. so i'm looking at it like ayy lemme just solidify etc with both him and steffen. before long i'm on call with steffen like promising i have his back etc please don't panic because i want this to stay underwraps that we have some grip on like what jake's plan is and as long as we act unaware it shouldn't have any reason to change etc. we make a chat with jack that i have jack under teh impression that steffen wanted to make so that's cool too if that's legit because then that tightens that bond with them and makes things easier for me i think if we end up going back to tribal there! 
then jake apparently finds out that he's getting votes because i hear from owen that he's apparently trying to get my clocked on both tribes and i'm like NO NO HONEY not on my watch. w/e so we get the votes on jake then jake like..........goes off on everyone. i told myself i didn't want to get emotionally involved in this game, like i really didn't want to. but when jake is sitting here making me cry because i'm apparently being a bad friend to him for voting me out when really my voting him out may not have happened if he was just straight up honest with me and not running his mouth about me to like jenn and owen and the rest of the OA (owen's army). it's just irritating because i consider jake a friend of mine and to hear that he's like saying that i'm being a bad friend and stuff like literally hurts my feelings and stuff because none of this was supposed to be like that and i wanted things to be different. idk.
