Emerald Spectacles from India, c. 1620-1660 CE: the lenses of these spectacles were cut from a single 300-carat emerald, and it was believed that they possessed mystical properties
Tumblr media
These eyeglasses are also known by the name "Astaneh-e ferdaws," meaning "Gate of Paradise," based on the perception of the color green as a symbol for spiritual salvation/Paradise. This was a common belief in Mughal-era India, where the spectacles were made.
Tumblr media
The lenses were crafted from two thin slices of the same emerald. Together, the lenses have a combined weight of about 27 carats, but given the precision, size, and shape of each lens, experts believe that the original emerald likely weighed in excess of 300 carats (more than sixty grams) before it was cleaved down in order to produce the lenses. The emerald was sourced from a mine in Muzo, Colombia, and it was then transported across the Atlantic by Spanish or Portuguese merchants.
Each lens is encircled by a series of rose-cut diamonds, which run along an ornate frame made of gold and silver. The diamond-studded frame was added in the 1890s, when the original prince-nez design was fitted with more modern frames.
Tumblr media
The emerald eyeglasses have long been paired with a second set of spectacles, and they were almost certainly commissioned by the same patron. This second pair is known as Halqeh-e nur, or the "Halo of Light."
The Halo of Light features lenses that were made from slices of diamond. The diamond lenses were cleaved from a single stone, just like the emerald lenses, with the diamond itself being sourced from a mine in Southern India. It's estimated that the original, uncut diamond would have weighed about 200-300 carats, which would make it one of the largest uncut diamonds ever found.
Tumblr media
These lenses are so clear and so smoothly cut that it sometimes looks like they're not even there
Both sets of spectacles date back to the mid-1600s, and it's generally believed that they were commissioned by a Mughal emperor or prince. The identity of that person is still a bit of a mystery, but it has been widely speculated that the patron was Shah Jahan -- the Mughal ruler who famously commissioned the Taj Mahal after the death of his wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Shah Jahan did rule as the Mughal emperor from about 1628 to 1658.
The emerald and diamond lenses may have been chosen for symbolic/cultural reasons, or they may have been chosen simply because they're pretty and extravagant; their meaning/purpose is unclear. Experts do believe that the eyeglasses were designed to be worn by someone, though.
It was believed that the spectacles had spiritual properties, like the ability to promote healing, ward off evil, impart wisdom, and bring the wearer closer to enlightenment. Those beliefs are often related to Indic and Islamic traditions, some of which ascribe spiritual and/or symbolic traits to emeralds and diamonds. Emeralds can be viewed as an emblem of Paradise, divine salvation, healing, cleansing, and eternal life; diamonds are similarly associated with enlightenment, wisdom, celestial light, and mysticism.
Tumblr media
The Gate of Paradise and the Halo of Light were both kept in the collections of a wealthy Indian family until 1980, when they were sold to private collectors, before going on auction once again back in 2021. They were valued at about $2 million to $3.4 million per pair.

I love how JC looked at the avatar mobile game in 2019 and went “Let’s use it to casually confirm RDA’s illegal experimentation projects🥰”
Tumblr media
Meet Volodin Adrik. Yes, this image is from an official avatar game and yes, that is a horrid half Na’vi, half viperwolf mutant in the background.
Like did we suspect that RDA had top secret laboratories where fucked up scientists would create monstrosities and tortue ppl? Yeah, but it’s criminal that we got it confirmed years ago in a MOBILE STRATEGY game that isn’t even available in half of the regions around the globe.

James didn’t have many friends as a child because he didn’t speak English until he was eight and his parents were worried he wouldn’t fit in at Muggle primary school OR in the pure blood social scene. James and Peter met when Peter’s father started working for Fleamont a few years before they started at Hogwarts. Peter taught James all the English swear words and James taught Peter all the Hindi ones. Part of the reason James never suspected Peter is that they were both each other’s first friendship.

NAHIDA HAS NO REASON TO BE WHITE. heres WHY
the reason why i'm making this post is because i am SICK and TIRED of seeing OTHER PEOPLE fight for MY CULTURE in the most INCORRECT WAY POSSIBLE. "nahida rcta queen!", "why are you blackwashing her?", "she switched teams!" all these comments and more under artists' posts that decided to give her melanin.
artists are just giving back her melanin as she is based off a culture with people who have dark skin. this is not racist. this is literally the opposite. i understand if a character already has an established skin colour that's apart of their character (ex. ei or zhongli) though with nahida this makes no sense.
i am indian, do NOT come after me. sumeru is based off of MY culture. i know what i'm talking about. a good 70% of sumeru is based off hindu culture, it's based off south asia.
more of my yapping:
Tumblr media
you all need to shut the hell up about saraswati and how nahida is based off saraswati because saraswati's description is saying "shes as white as the moon" and nahida is white. you ALL need to BE QUIET ABOUT THAT.
this is saraswati, for reference:
Tumblr media
saraswati is not ever mentioned in genshin impact. NOT ONCE. but, the aranara call rukkhadevata queen aranyani. aranyani is a very obscure hindu god known for taking care of the forest and dancing n stuff
Tumblr media
THIS IS WHAT NAHIDA AND RUKKHADEVATA ARE BASED OFF OF. NOT SARASWATI. the only thing that saraswati and nahida (+ rukkha) have in-common is that other than being white and based off a hindu goddess
saraswati isn't even white, the pale as the moon thing refers to a godly glow. so even IF nahida and rukkha are based off saraswati, hoyo does NOT HAVE ANY REASON TO MAKE THEM WHITE SINCE SHE ISNT EVEN WHITE. she has a GODLY GLOW.
literally the only excuse nahida has for being that pale is that she's the avatar of irminsul (a white tree) HOWEVER. they didn't need to make her THAT pale. if they wanted to make her pale skin they should've added more colors like pinks and purples and blues like the actual irminsul
Tumblr media Tumblr media
as you can VERY CLEARLY see, they did not do that. they did not even try to take this route.
everything could have been fine if they did take this route or make her eyelashes white and say she's albino if they really wanted her to be white. but they didn't.
indians can be pale, YES. but they aren't this paper caca toothpaste looking ass WHITE like how nahida is. REPRESENTATION FOR SKIN COLOUR MATTERS TOO. ITS NOT JUST THE CULTURE THEY'RE BASED OFF OF.
anyway thanks for coming to my yapping session. i love talking about my culture 👍 desi nahida layouts are here if you want to see :)

So, I just re-read your ficlet about Sirius telling Harry about his grandparents and how his eyes look like Fleamont not Lily. Tell us more about Harry's similarities with Potter family apart from Fleamont's eyes in your HCs please. 🙏
Alrighttttt lets goooooooo
People (as in HP fans) often attribute Harry's explosive temper to Lily— false. It comes from James. Who got it from Euphemia. Both of them had been quite infamous for their temper when they had been alive.
The Potter Family Heirs have an affinity for Death Magic and Necromancy. That was one of the main contributors to Harry ending up as the Master of Death; only the direct descendants of the Peverell Line have the ability to possess all three hallows at the same time. Others who try either go insane or suffer a painful death— which is what happened to Harry's great-great-great-grandfather, who had married into the family.
The shape of Harry's wrists is all Euphemia. They're bony and veiny and almost delicate, but perfect for sharp flicking movements that are an essential skill in magical duelling. Euphemia used to be an Olympic Duelling Champion who specialised in dark-leaning Grey spells— Harry's magic is more similar to hers than either of his parents.
Talking of Harry's and Euphemia's magic— they both see their magic as a living entity separate from themselves. In their mind's eye, their own magic is a coiling, hissing, venomous green serpent. Dangerous, ready to strike at any minute. It is why both of them hold back a lot, when they duel. They're afraid of setting that snake loose.
Harry finds out that his grandmother had the same magic as his on his twenty-first birthday, when the Peverell Castle finally becomes legally his and he goes rooting through the house along with Ron and Hermione. A bunch of journals of the older generations of Potters, dating all the way back to when the line was known as Peverell, made up a substantial chunk of the huge library. Some of those journals belonged to Euphemia, documenting every year of her life from the age of eleven.
Harry's gift of Parseltongue comes from both the Potter grandparents. The Peverell line, being saturated with Death Magic and Necromancy, had Parseltongue woven into the family inheritance (snakes being a powerful symbol of the passage of time and of the cycle of death and rebirth). As for Euphemia, she was Indian— a country which has the highest relative population of Parselmouths in the world. (Side note: Fleamont is quarter Indian. His mother's mother.)
Harry's height is half Fleamont, half Lily. Euphemia was short, and so was Fleamont's mother, but James inherited the good genes and grew to be an inch taller than Fleamont, who was already a good six feet. Lily was five foot eight inches (almost 173cm). Harry is a terrifying six feet two inches.
These are all that I have right now, but do send asks!! I love answering them!!

Origin of Arjun's name
Tumblr media
Arjun's name and respective codename itself came from the etymology of Mahabharata, the ancient epic of India.
Arjuna was the son of Kunti whose spiritual father was Indra Dev (the God of Lightning), but became the adopted son of King Pandu among his four sons (Yudhishthir, Bhima, Nakul and Sahadev). Arjun was depicted as a skilled archer from an early age, and played an important role throughout the campaign of the Mahabharata War.
Tumblr media
Arjun's name means to be "crystal clear, shiny and lustrous". In relation, it's about always being stuck to your aim and knowing what has to be done to hit the bullseye. Once the Captain finds a target, he'll do anything to fulfill it, even if it risks everything he had before. His aim towards it is "clear". He'd pick the gun, and fight. He'll not hesitate nor back off. He will hit the target.
His patch symbol is denoted as a "bow and arrow", which targets its desired aim. The Captain won't leave a single target behind, he'll eliminate it, destroy it, no matter what the cost.

Does the animal DNA that is added to a clone affect their behaviour in any way? For example do they tend to have instincts similar to that animal?
If for example there was a clone with bear DNA would they want to hibernate during the colder months? Or would DNA affect how clones would fight or otherwise respond to threats (like a deer would probably run away from a threat but other animals might attack)?
Also a concept: A clone with squirrel DNA hoarding food and hiding it away somewhere for the winter
(Yes, the DNA can affect a clone's behaviour! Obviously there will be exceptions to the rule, but clones will typically exhibit behaviours of their spliced animals
So for an example, Pancetta was made with Honey Badger DNA, hence why he is so aggressive and attacks on sight, but other clones made with prey animals (like a deer) would be more likely to run from a threat
Behaviours were actually a big part in deciding on animals to use, many clones were often spliced with a domesticated animal alongside a wild one, to make them more docile (and bc 'acquiring' a ton of domestic animals was easier and less suspicious than a getting a bunch of endangered animals). An example of this is BB, who has African Lion and King Cobra DNA (powerful big cat, and venomous snake) mixed with Boer Goat and Ball Python (friendly goat and cute snake) making them pretty chill
Why did they want docile clones? Ask someone else about that hehe
Hibernation is a strange case tho, bc none of the clones have experienced seasons! Being in a lab that was consistently the same environment for their entire lives, none of them have ever done it! It's only been about a month since the tower fell, and they got out, and it is currently springtime in story, it'll be interesting to see how the clones respond to the winter!
Also the concept is very cute, and I one up you with two squirrels hehe!!! Red Squirrel Peppiclone is showing Indian Giant Squirrel Fake Peppino a cool place to hide all the nuts they found together!!!

Little People of the Cherokee, Native American Lore: Among the many legends of the proud Cherokee people is the curious tale of a race of little people who were said to inhabit the wilds of North Carolina, Tennessee and Georgia, and who the Natives called the Nunne’hi, meaning “people who live anywhere,” as well as the Yûñwï Tsunsdi’, or “Little People.”
The Little People of the Cherokee are a race of Spirits who live in rock caves on the mountain side. They are little fellows and ladies reaching almost to your knees. They are well shaped and handsome, and their hair so long it almost touches the ground. They are very helpful, kind-hearted, and great wonder workers. They love music and spend most of their time drumming, singing, and dancing. They have a very gentle nature, but do not like to be disturbed.
Sometimes their drums are heard in lonely places in the mountains, but it is not safe to follow it, for they do not like to be disturbed at home, and they will throw a spell over the stranger so that he is bewildered and loses his way, and even if he does at last get back to the settlement he is like one dazed ever after. Sometimes, also, they come near a house at night and the people inside hear them talking, but they must not go out, and in the morning they find the corn gathered or the field cleared as if a whole force of men had been at work. If anyone should go out to watch, he would die.
When a hunter finds anything in the woods, such as a knife or a trinket, he must say, 'Little People, I would like to take this' because it may belong to them, and if he does not ask their permission they will throw stones at him as he goes home.
Some Little People are black, some are white and some are golden like the Cherokee. Sometimes they speak in Cherokee, but at other times they speak their own 'Indian' language. Some call them "Brownies".
Little people are here to teach lessons about living in harmony with nature and with others. There are three kinds of Little People. The Laurel People, the Rock People, and the Dogwood People.
The Rock People are the mean ones who practice "getting even" who steal children and the like. But they are like this because their space has been invaded.
The Laurel People play tricks and are generally mischievous. When you find children laughing in their sleep - the Laurel People are humorous and enjoy sharing joy with others.
Then there are the Dogwood People who are good and take care of people.
The lessons taught by the Little People are clear. The Rock People teach us that if you do things to other people out of meanness or intentionally, it will come back on you. We must always respect other people's limits and boundaries. The Laurel People teach us that we shouldn't take the world too seriously, and we must always have joy and share that joy with others. The lessons of the Dogwood People are simple - if you do something for someone, do it out of goodness of your heart. Don't do it to have people obligated to you or for personal gain.
In Cherokee beliefs, many stories contain references to beings called the Little People. These people are supposed to be small mythical characters, and in different beliefs they serve different purposes.
"There are a lot of stories and legends about the Little People. You can see the people out in the forest. They can talk and they look a lot like Indian people except they're only about two feet high, sometimes they're smaller. Now the Little People can be very helpful, and they can also play tricks on us, too. And at one time there was a boy. This boy never wanted to grow up. In fact, he told everyone that so much that they called him "Forever Boy" because he never wanted to be grown. When his friends would sit around and talk about: 'Oh when I get to be a man, and when I get to be grown I'm gonna be this and I'm gonna go here and be this,' he'd just go off and play by himself.
He didn't even want to hear it, because he never wanted to grow up. Finally his father got real tired of this, and he said, ‘Forever Boy, I will never call you that again. From now on you're going to learn to be a man, you're going to take responsibilty for yourself, and you're going to stop playing all day long. You have to learn these things. Starting tomorrow you're going to go to your uncle's, and he's going to teach you everything that you are going to need to know.' Forever Boy was broken hearted at what his father told him, but he could not stand the thought of growing up. He went out to the river and he cried. He cried so hard that he didn't see his animal friends gather around him. And they were trying to tell him something, and they were trying to make him feel better, and finally he thought he understood them say, 'Come here tomorrow, come here early.' Well, he thought they just wanted to say goodbye to him. And he drug his feet going home. He couldn't even sleep he was so upset. The next morning he went out early, as he had promised, to meet his friends. And he was so sad, he could not bear the thought of telling them goodbye forever. Finally he began to get the sense that they were trying to tell him something else, and that is to look behind him.
As he looked behind him, there they were, all the Little People. And they were smiling at him and laughing and running to hug him. And they said, 'Forever Boy you do not have to grow up. You can stay with us forever. You can come and be one of us and you will never have to grow up...we will ask the Creator to send a vision to your parents and let them know that you are safe and you are doing what you need to do.' Forever Boy thought about it for a long time. But that is what he decided he needed to do, and he went with the Little People.
And even today when you are out in the woods and you see something, and you look and it is not what you really thought it was, or if you are fishing and you feel something on the end of your line, and you think it is the biggest trout ever, and you pull it in, and all it is is a stick that got tangled on your hook, that is what the Little People are doing. They are playing tricks on you so you will laugh and keep young in your heart. Because that is the spirit of Little People, and Forever Boy, to keep us young in our hearts."

The 7 immortals (Chiranjivi) in Hinduism.
In the words of the Kalki Purana, "The seven immortals are the pillars of the world. They are the guardians of the dharma, the protectors of the righteous, and the teachers of the future." This Hindu scripture foretells the birth and actions of Kalki, the ultimate avatar of Vishnu.
These legendary beings are believed to endure on Earth until the conclusion of the current era marked by darkness and malevolence.

Keep thinking about Trans-coded Mayuri.
Mayuri is a woman's name, it means Peahen (a female peacock) but his design mimics that of a male peacocks plumage, blue, bold, flashy etc. It gives the impression of him being AFAB and switching to masculine presentation.
Mayuri is also quite short for a man (5'8") but that would be tall/average for someone assigned female at birth.
And he has the ability to self modify on a whim, if Mayuri was AFAB and wanted to adjust his form/voice/etc, he'd be able to with ease.
So in conclusion:
