I slowly but surely finished my first project of the year; a labor of love cardigan that I feel like I'll be wearing for years to come.
Crocheting clothes take forever, and when I got to the part in the pattern that said chain 123 I just wanted to lie down and move onto something else but I told myself, no. Finish it, it'll be worth it. Some days I would go through bursts of energy and other days I wouldn't even work on it at all; but I kept going and now I've reached the finish line. 8+ weeks of this, but I'm really happy with the results.
Acrylic yarn in navy blue, checkered grey, pale orange, and maroon ish purple. 5.5mm and 6.5mm hooks, Willa Cardigan Pattern Here

i know this has been discussed ad nauseam, but i'm doing research for a meta, and i'm slowly realizing that i will never ever be over the Good Omens Lockdown dialogue. especially that line towards the end (begins at the 02:50 minute mark):
Crowley: [...] You know, I could hunker down at your place; slither over and watch you eat cake. I could bring a bottle—a case—of something...drinkable?
first, the unabashed expression of a desire to be near Aziraphale is so rarely evident (i mean, we have 1967 and other instances, but in the case of '67, an outsider could more easily—i guess??—interpret offering him a lift home as an expression of gratitude for the holy water). so, to witness his clear, unveiled desire for comfort and closeness (and to literally just watch Aziraphale eat cake) demonstrates the interpersonal progress made in the time after Armageddon't; he's not concealing the offer behind some flimsily-constructed reason (e.g., "I just didn't want to see you embarrass yourself"). in fact, he's implying that they'd be spending long lengths of time together ("hunker down", "a case of something drinkable").
and then Aziraphale's response is also really interesting, and kind of exists as a microcosm of their whole push-and-pull dynamic that has existed for literally thousands of years (begins at the 02:59 minute mark):
Aziraphale: No, I—I—I—I’m afraid that would be breaking all the rules! Out of the question! I’ll see you… when… this is over?
i'm sorry, but the sheer nervousness???? the grasping for excuses??? they're gay disasters, ur honour. breaks my fucking heart </3 i love them both, but also OUGH. azi, why?!?

It's kinda shocking to me how few people seem to know how prevalent the 'my great grandmother was cherokee' myth is and how it's almost never actually true, especially when it comes with things like 'never signed up' or 'fell off the trail' or 'courthouse burned down destorying the documentation' etc etc.
People just don't even seem to know the history like.. when the Trail happened. My great great great grandfather was 2 years old during Removal in 1838, so peoples 'my great grandmother hid in the mountains!' is so clearly wrong. And we have rolls. From before and after removal, rolls done by cherokee nation and others by the government, rolls that were not stored in one random flammable courthouse. It's not difficult to find the actual evidence of ancestry.
And just.. there are lots of ways those family stories get started. It was a practice during the confederacy to claim cherokee ancestry to show one's family had 'deep roots in the south' that they were there before the cherokee were removed. Many people pretended to be cherokee and applied for the Guion-Miller payout just to try to steal money meant for cherokees - 2/3rds of the applicants were denied for having 0 proof of actual cherokee ancestry. [We even see lawyers advertising signing up for the Miller roll just to try to get free money.] And the myth even started in some families in the cherokee land lotteries, where the land stolen from us was raffled off, including the house and everything that was left behind when the cherokees were removed. We have seen people whose families just take these things stolen from the cherokee family and adopt them into their own family story, saying that they were cherokee themselves.
If you had some family story about being cherokee and you wanna have proof one way or the other, check out this Facebook group run by expert cherokee genealogists that do research for free. Just please read the rules fully and respect the researchers. They run thousands of people's ancestries a year and their average is only around 0.7% of lines they run actually end up having true cherokee ancestry.

something that bothers me a lot is when people write the batfam as a sort of entity completly detached from the rest of the dcu oh my god these people have Friends and relationships dick wouldn't be the same if he wasn't friends with donna or if he had never dated starfire or if he had never led the titans tim wouldn't be the same without his friends either (he was deeplydeeply affected by kon and bart's deaths that was sort of a Big deal) damian needs jon and maya etc to remember he's allowed to be a kid and jason. well jason is a lonely loser like his dad but for everyone else their relationships are very important

theres something poetic about being young and picking up the little yellow dandelions and calling them flowers. and every single time an adult says no thats a weed. don't give it to me thats not a flower thats a weed. its ugly and its bad because of what we call it. so you stop picking them. you stop putting them behind you ear or tying the stems together. nobody likes weeds anyways, right?

sorry if u been asked this b4 but how did u come up with able's markings in Ur desigm?? gq
very intricate n cool(?) lookiing.. n do u have more arts of her
🐱
i dont normally respond to asks because im an anxious bastard sometimes but this ones simple enough not to fuck over iiiii think
anyways, her markings r based on (bridal) mehndi! little side by side
its definitely more obvious here, but yeah! i just wanted it to look more decorative than tribal.
i had a moose design w mehndi too which was the catalyst for this i think? idk i just figured I didn't want her skin to be so bare considering how much of it is exposed,
and errr sorry to disappoint but i dont draw much of her outside of the stuff i sell but here's pirate au cain n able as kids that counts right
!!!! transgender siblings !!!!!!
