There’s something going on on the cardiac floor that you just… can’t quite put your finger on.

This isn’t the first hospital you’ve worked at, but you’re also new to urban healthcare, so you don’t want to rock the boat by being paranoid. But traffic from the cardiac floor is… steady. You’ve read the papers, know the stats like the back of your hand. And the cardiac floor is perfectly in line with expected trends. Every. Month.

There are fluctuations, of course. Plus or minus three to seven lives is nothing remarkable in cardiology. Macabre, maybe, but true. But that’s unnatural. In the seven months you’ve worked here, you’ve seen waves elsewhere in the hospital. The plastics floor had a month with zero deaths followed by a month of a persistent infection sweeping through the otherwise reasonably healthy patients. Oncology has seen a steady decline in patients sent your way, thank goodness. Even emergency and intensive care aren’t as fixedly consistent as the cardiac floor.

When you wonder about it aloud to the director, Dr. Martins just shrugs. “We have a good team up there. Very good at keeping things clean and double and triple checking their work.”

“But if that’s the case, then the number of deaths should be going down,” you point out.

Dennis gives you a rueful smile. “That’s not always how human bodies work, unfortunately. You know that.”

You do know that. Which is why the consistency grates against your nerves. So you decide to do a little digging.

The name that comes up the most often in the chart notes is one Kyle Garrick.

That’s actually not 100% accurate. He’s charting exactly the way he’s supposed to. And no nurse has complete, individual access to patients 24/7. But every dying patient he has access to is… perfect. Their blood work, labs, vitals, prognosis, medication adherence and refusal is almost too-the-letter, textbook precise.

The most obvious answer is that Garrick, and probably a couple of other nurses on the floor, are fudging the numbers.

The idea is infuriating. You hate the way the administrators keep changing medical record systems just as much as the next person, but inaccurate charting is a safety issue. People can, have, and do die because someone writes down the wrong timing for medications or assumes that a patient’s vitals are unchanged. If anything, this is probably worse than that. The fact that everything is so pristine probably means that some patients are just being written off. The nurses might be deciding who gets the excellent care the hospital is known for and who gets neglected.

You stay three hours late investigating the next cardio patient that ends up in your morgue.

After examining the body and reading, rereading, and re-re-re-reading his chart, you find it. A stutter in the dosages of blood thinners, a slightly higher blood pressure reading from someone who isn’t nurse Kyle fucking Garrick. Just enough evidence to have you testing the body with an aspirometer almost too late. And there it is. A fatal air embolism.

You want to scream, but the dead man doesn’t deserve that.

Three weeks later, sipping from your water bottle, someone calls into the office. “Knock knock.”

Dennis practically lights up. “"Good morning, Kyle. Been a bit since you've come to see us. Care for some tea?"

Your eyebrows shoot up. Dr Martins hates unexpected visitors. Then you look over your shoulder, and you understand. Even old queens aren't immune to pretty privilege. The man that’s leaning in the doorway is gorgeous. Maybe its because you work with dead bodies all day, but his eyes and skin seem to glow, even under the fluorescents.

"Can't," the man says, apologetically. "Just dropping someone off."

"Well, at least let me introduce our new nurse!"

The fact that you’re wiping crumbs off of your mouth over a paper plate is the only reason no one sees your face fall when you hear him say, “Nice to meet you. Kyle Garrick.”

I got another funny idea: The events of "The Visitor", but its Simon and Martin.

Maybe Simon was in one of his travels when he came across something he was not expecting to find, another human. Finn is invited to watch but Jake comes instead to report it back to him so Finn doesn’t have to deal with Martin’s personality. Simons gonna curbstomp him. Snow Queen has never been more in love.

The CIA once again wants you to do their dirty work. It's not a surprise since you're the best in the field and can almost get away with everything but they owe you big time. The worst part of it is that I'm not doing it alone this time. They've called in one of the guy from their old projects. Im really not excited to meet him at all.

"Right on time agent. Meet your partner. Six." Says denny.

I hold in a smile and nod. The man is well dressed and nice to look at. He looks as if he could split a body in half with those biceps of his.

"Your mission is to retrieve this asset. It's important for the company and the guy who has it is big on the black market."

"Doesn't seem that hard." I say

"Let me get to the good part agent. We never like to make it easy on anyone. He has trained assassins and power greater than the two of you combined. You'll need ti be careful."

He fills us out on the rest of the details which were boring boring boring. Six isn't much of a talker. We load our stuff and reach the target site.

I check the premises slowly, six is behind me.

"So what's the story behind the name six?"

He shrugs. I roll my eyes.

"One to five were taken. You get the struggle."

"Oh he does know how to talk. How exciting." I say in a whisper.

A man comes our way and six quickly knocks him out. He falls on the ground with a thud. The house is practically empty and it all seems like one big trap.

"Something seems off." He moves to the top of the stairs and scouts out the area.

"No shit sherlock." I stand beside him "Do you think they know we're here?"

He shrugs again. I might not retrieve the asset but I might just shoot a bullet thriugh his shoulders.

"Gum?" He offers taking out a packet. I look at the packet and then at him.

"You're seriously offering me gum." I say blankly.

"It's watermelon." He smiles

I take one, "Its watermelon." I mock him and he raises a brow.

"What? I'm trying to make this fun."

Another guy comes our way, I shoot him with a tranquilizer gun. We move his body to the side.

"Nothing about this is fun." He breathes.

"Okay grandpa." I stick my tongue out.

"You're a child." He sighs

"A child who is CIA's top agent. Pretty boy." I walk away from him, making my way in the house. It's silent and dark. There are no alarms or booby traps. It all seems wrong.

"You think im pretty." He says

"I liked you better when you couldn't talk."

The safe is right infront of me. It can't be this easy. There is no army. Nothing. I open it and take the asset.

"Got it." I smile.

"It's too easy." I nod in agreement.

We walk out the door we came in from. A dozen red lasers light us up. I look at Six.

"Well there you go."

"Let's give them hell." He winks.

It almost feels like hours of fighting. Which it was. It took us even longer to escape because Six got stuck in metal wires placed near the fence. He had to get rid of his vest and his shirt. Which was funny because he had to run shirtless around town and alot of old ladies winked at him. Being chased and shot at was the not so funny part.

"Im having the time of my life." I say as I hotwire a car.

He shakes his head, "Do it faster will you?"

"Nope. I like those ladies making you uncomfortable grandpa."

He smacks my hands away lightly and hotwires the car himself. I gasp at the act.

"Drive." He orders.

"What are you gonna do if I don't?" I look at him and he looks away.

I gasp, "You had a dirty thought." I poke him

"Just drive." He looks out the window.

"You had a dirty thought." I say in sing-song.

He smiles a little, "Pretty boy is blushing."

I tease him all the way to headquarters. It seemed the following had stopped no-one wants to be this close to headquarters when you're a targeted criminal. He begs me to shutup. But I just can't. He's such a softie under all that grumpy covering.

"I'll throw you out the window if you don't stop." He says

"No you won't. You're such a softie."

"I will." He warns

"You will what?" I tease him.

He pushes past me, "You had a dirty thought again. Mister you are out of it."

I laugh. I guess he's not too bad. For the most part this mission was fun even though we're all bloody and bruised. I call out to him in sing-song and I've never seen a man run faster.

"You're a child." He shouts.

"A child you had dirty thoughts about!" I shout back laughing.

dick: stranger all the way! full on stranger, he is the strangest little guy and we love him for that. hes got the circus motifs, hes got the wild and wacky outfits. hes got the constant identity issues and the name changes. dicks even got the body horror, uncanny valley aspect down to a science with his " look at me i dont have any bones" flexibility.

the stranger would take one look at that little dude and the proceed to fist fight bruce wayne in a denny parking lot for full custody over dick. Honorable mention goes to the buried for this one.

jason: most would assume jason would be slaughter or end aligned but i think thats for fools and cowards. jason todd is just to perfect of a fit for the corruption or the lonely. look me in the eyes and tell me jason, the only proof my dad loves me if is he kills this guy for me, todd doesn't radiate corruption vibes.

tell me with a straight face that jason, "if our fredship ment anything to you at all." "it didn't",( it did, i just wanted to hurt him), todd wouldn't fit so so well into the lonely.

im gonna have to give it to the corruption tho, the coffin bugs hes got in him are like his only stable healthy relationship at this point. Honorable mention to the vast tho.

tim: the eye would take a single look at the boy and claim dibs. although the web is a very solid second. tim just fits far to well into the mastermind it cant be ignored but like bruce his obsession with gathering information and knowledge means that manipulating other falls to the wayside. his smarts and detective ability are second to non and his origins have such quintessential eye vibes it just fits so well. i mean, the stalking, the figuring out of identity. its just so hoarder of knowledge the eye is the one true choice.

the only reason he doesn't fall more into the web is his stalking

nobody can convince me that Annabelle and tim wouldnt get on like a house on fire, property damage and casualties included so its probably better thats he eye aligned. plus the parallel bettwen him and bruce is to good to pass up.

Honorable mention to the desolation if only for his glorious distruction of the league basses.

damian: damian is a hard choice, im split almost 50/50 between the desolation and dark. ironically both haveing a cult or religious aspect just adds to the overalls feeling. while the desolation fits will with his time in the league im gonna have to go full in with the dark over all.

he was never afraid of the dark but in his idolizeation of batman became an almost worshipper of it. ergo the dark, even if the desolation would make such a great character motif for him. it also adds that little bit of angst over him and bruce being total opposite.

along with tim being serving the same patron as bruce means damian was even more fight on site then he would have been normally.

Honorable mention to the desolation of course.

Hi!!! I know you read/rb'd the info dump i did after sending this but I do have more about the Triplets/Keane family and I'm happy to share!!!

First of all - their story, again, started over a decade ago with two friends who I'm no longer in regular contact with, and a couple years after their creation i merged them with another friend's character to build off of! So their OG backstory got mixed up and muddled together into something incomprehensible due to me a) not fully remembering the original RP story line (we were 12 it wasn't good) and b) not having access to/remember all the og people's characters who were involved ASKJDH

This is a quick breakdown of the Keane Family Tree!! The Keane Fam/Pack is one of 3 packs that live in the area (a fictional town called St. Dennis and a few adjacent counties in the fictional state of Vermont :3)

I made this very quickly in Mila note so I'm sorry if its shitty AKJSDH

Please feel free to ask me to elaborate more on parts that I might miss because I'm very scatter brained!!! Im just gonna TYPE

Their story is very... slice of life, I guess? The curren RP just follows their lives and relationships pretty closely, and how the triplets grow as people and come away from trauma very differently.

Tala is the first to blossom but again I don't think she'll ever lose her spark of anger that she holds very tight and close to her chest. She's a very protective person and takes on a leadership role amidst her family (i hate calling her an alpha it feels wierd ASJDH- shes just... a matriarch?).

Her and Travis were best friends in highschool, tended to ditch class and smoke up, platonic ideal of friendship supported each other in the way most 15 year olds who bottle up their emotions do. Travis had ALWAYS had a huge crush on Aaron and essentially followed him around until he finally accepted he wasn't going anywhere (Travis is also "adopted" by their uncle, James, around the time their relationship solidifies!! He asks to be turned to feel "officially" a part of the family and Aaron isn't able to do it, so Tala does).

Travis' other bestfriend, Beck, meets/gets closer to Tala accidentally after a Halloween party in their senior year and things move very quickly for them (they get pregnant with the twins at 20 if im remembering correctly askjdh).

Having kids both made Tala better and worse? She's fiercly protective but also made her a lot more... grounded? Like she started taking shit and her responsibility in the family far more seriously, especially when Beck is turned? (A decision he made due to not wanting to be The Only Human there (also raising werewolf babies as a human??? sounds like hell))

Aaron blossoms more when he and Travis enter a relationship - he started hormone therapy around the same time (15-16) which ALSO helped a fuck ton. He's very closed off and aggressive and prefers to keep people at a healthy distance on the off chance he gets hurt or hurts someone (despite... hurting people in doing so). He also is the only one in his family who views lycanthropy as a curse? Its one of the reasons he couldn't bring himself to turn Travis himself. ALL he wants is to feel understood and be "normal" but knows that'll... never happen?

It takes a long time for him to feel more comfortable with himself, and Travis' unending support is one of the reasons he's able to do that. Eventually they move out together and meet a bartender named Micah that they learn is a little down on his luck and needs a place to stay so offer him their spare room. Micah and Aaron are very similar in keeping people at a distance, so it takes some TIME before he accepts that they both genuinely like him. Happy little polycule <3

TRACE takes the longest. He's autistic and struggles to feel safe and accepted and his growth comes MUCH later in the story. They live at home for a majority of their teens and early adulthood and take up the quiet task of babysitting when they're needed but don't really like being around Tala (and Beck, by proxy, despite him being SO sweet and king hearted).

Trace focus' a lot on Charlie when he's younger because he's a very anxious kid - and once Charlie starts school and meets another little werewolf named Percy (a part of another pack i'll post eventually akjsdh), Trace is tasked with watching the both of them. That's how they meet Ansel (Percy's "uncle"/pack mate)!!

Still figuring a lot out on their journey but Ansel is the safest person in Trace's life next to Micah (who he formed a crush on upon meeting for the first time, but didn't quite understand thats what they were feeling, and just enjoyed his company greatly (they're both autistic and remain very close)).

ok so i just watched the movie split. and wow. what a shit show.

like it had a strong start, it seemed pretty interesting. im very glad 2/3 girls werent idiots and actually did what they could to escape. but the other one casey (idk if thats how u spell her name but im spelling it like that) was SO ANNOYING. idk it was probably her trauma or something but why did she literally not do anything??? she was all like “oh its not gonna work” and then as soon as she was on her own she got her ass in gear. what a team player 🙄 /sarc

speaking of her trauma, what even was it? i think she was raped or sexually assaulted by her uncle and then had to live with him after her father died, and she started self harming, i think. i understand that through the flashbacks but what were the other flashbacks even about? i know it was about hunting but considering the fact she didn’t even use the advice her father gave her, what was the point? like you really don’t need to show her love for her father because it’s a fucking given. maybe to show how innocent she was? idk still a given fact. like every child is innocent, most children love their dads. unless you specifically show her dad being an asshole, we’re gonna know she loves him.

on one hand, (i might be reading too deep) but it is very interesting to read this in an abused/abuser way. like the beast in kevin’s body is the abuser and hedwig, patricia and dennis are the abused and cling to the abuser because it makes them feel protected, even though the beast/abuser is doing harm (by fucking eating people). and then ofc casey, despite doing everything to survive when she was kidnapped and also running away from home, still ends up with her abuser (rapist uncle). that’s a cool thing to think about. i wish they went down that road instead of ‘ahhhh people with DID are big scary beasts!!!!’

and also i knew that this movie would not be respectful in any way possible. i didnt even want to watch the movie because i knew it would portray people with DID as monsters (crazy how i was right! /sarc) but my dad forced me to watch it lol. and like not only is it so disrespectful and contributes to the stigma around DID, it was so…lazy. like i thought it would be interesting to have the alters inside kevin fight or whatever (like some alters send the emails) and then at the end, the girls escape and kevin gets help. which i know is too hopeful of an ending. but it’s way better in my opinion from having some weird ass beast. why was it strangely catholic? its like the writers didnt know how to end it and just were like hmmm ok supernatural beast it is. and i spoke to my dad about this and he agreed that the beast thing was too predictable because they spoke about the beast too much. and what even was the beast. it was just the same guy but had like black contacts and prominent veins and blood from his teeth. not scary. i had to try hard not to laugh at some scenes because they were just so ridiculous…

also what was that weird thing where they mentioned dennis was a pedo then just…didnt bring it up again. dont get me wrong i do NOT want a movie about a pedo kidnapper, but this whole movie seems like a mess so i had to comment on how strange this is. like theres a few more details that are just mentioned then left and ignored but this is the one that irks me the most. oh, also the beast only left casey around bc it saw her self harm scars. what if she didn’t have any scars ?? big plot hole or the beast is just supposed to be dumb or something? like its all like “oh yeah everyone has to suffer to be ‘pure’ but if it doesn’t leave scars ur not valid and ill eat u 🤬🤬”

idk weird movie. only good part was hedwig because he’s funny and i feel bad for him. everyone’s acting was super good too. overall i would give it a wtf/10. jk like a 4/10, maybe a 5. also i hope its not just me who thinks this movie is crap. it had potential and it was thrown away.

This is either gonna be the shortest thing or this is gonna open a big can of worms. I do want this to be a published book one day but who knows when so major spoilers below i suppose. Cw for suicide, femicide, child death. Its a dark story

Ok so this story is still hugely in development meaning the characters are too. Honestly it started as me wanting to write another macden fic where dennis is a gay serial killer bc im so obsessed with that but the scene i was picturing in my head was just too good to give to macden. And ive obviously loved this idea, i kept projecting it onto macdennis (and come on we all know the reddit fanboys are wrong abt sk dennis) so i thought why not make it original. Normally i make horrible ocs. Theyre always so flat. But these two keep jumping out at me like they actually exist, establishing themselves into something i never thought they could be.

We have joe (joseph) (he has his name for religious symbolism) who is the serial killer. He commits femicide exclusively (except for his spouse's father, who i mentioned yesterday he kills bc he was dying of cancer). But basically the story starts by him killing the preacher's daughter named mary who is only 12 yrs old. YEAAAH BUUDDY.

His spouse is the narrator who is so ekvkekvkwkwkfkke he's a man but its more interesting if the reader doesnt find that until near the end. And his name is not found out until the last chapter when his husband addresses his suicide note to him. Basically he doesnt exist outside of husband, its hard to discover anything abt him if the reader isnt getting the informatjon from his husband.

They meet in high school when joe moves to his high school (after his mom left him bc she was scared of him) and they become fast friends bc the narrator is simply easy to control. The first murder happens on their prom night when theyre 16/17, joe murders the narrators prom date. And the narrator doesnt run or leave him!!! Instead they marry!! Hes so foolish 🙄

The narrator is religious himself, but joe doesnt know that, and after mary's murder he sneaks away sunday mornings to go to the church that the preacher is at. Bc he knows who killed their daughter, but never says a word as they pray rvery week to bring the man to justice. Her body is found on christmas eve/day btw.

Theres so much more, but im still figuring a lot out and i also just revealed a lot and im hjdgnegbetwth

1. how did you get into the show?

i heard about it back in like 2013 bc a yt channel I liked made references to it all the time but initially i was kinda scared to watch it bc I heard there was some offensive stuff and wasn't sure if that was my thing. then a few years later i was on a spring break trip w/ my high school and some ppl started talking about mac and dennis: manhunters for some reason?? and that made me so curious about it that I started pirating it a few days later lol

that being said... i didn't actually get into the show at that point. I got to about the first ep of season 2 and then just stopped bc even tho it was super funny I couldn't really connect with the characters and some of the satire felt a little too accurate to me. but from 2017 to like... may-ish of last year I watched a few eps here and there and made it to the beginning of season 3.

in october I was going thu a bit of an existential crisis (im mostly good now) and was looking for something funny to watch that hopefully wouldn’t suck up too much of my time (LMAOOO) and found it in my continue watching section on hulu and thought “this’ll be perfect bc i’ll probably just watch a season or so and then turn it off again”. yeah, that didn’t happen. (of course it probably helped that i’d watched i want you back earlier that year and realized i had a massive crush on charlie lol)

2. who’s your favorite character and why? (has your fav changed since you started watching the show?)

like i said in the last question it took me a while to pick a favorite but i literally caught one glimpse of charlie day’s freckles in i want you back and became obsessed with him & every character he’s ever played forever. aside from being super fucking adorable tho i genuinely think he’s the funniest character in the show. he has sooo many iconic moments and i love that he’s silly but also very capable like in charlie work :) also i really enjoy that he’s generally the “nice” one but he can also be very evil & feral at times. basically i like how complex he is lol. i just wanna wrap him in a blanket and feed him some spaghetti <3

3. what are your top 3 favorite episodes?

this is so fucking hard but here’s 3 off the top of my head:

the aluminum monster vs. fatty magoo : this is the one that made me finally get into the show! i loved that the characters were terrible to the point of absurdity. dennis putting on the dress was such an unforgettable moment & i feel like this ep is when they really found him as a character. charlie’s plot in this is also great, i love how he’ll end up in the most bizarre situation and just adapt to it (and the part where he's fantasizing about the drawing was... interesting to say the least lol). also any episode written by glenn & charlie is fucking iconic

the gang goes on family fight: this is just such a comfort ep tbh. family feud is always fun/funny and i love when the gang actually gets along. dennis’s freakout at the end was also super funny & relatable

the gang goes to hell part 2: after getting to know the characters for so many seasons, watching them almost die was strangely cathartic lol. it just felt like a love letter to the gang’s friendship, & it makes me think about how i’m so attached to these terrible fictional people. i could probably write a whole essay on this ep tbh. also the imaginary dinner scene is so funny to me, i love how much they get into it. 

also an honorable mention to charlie rules the world: charlie looks hot af in this episode (obviously) plus i love video game related eps in any show lol. It’s a fun ep to try to analyze charlie as a character, and i love that dennis just goes completely off the rails. 

4. name a song that reminds you of your favorite character

this is so hard bc all the songs on my sunny playlist are for ships/the whole gang… gonna go with leave me alone - fidlar bc of that one fancam plus i was listening to them earlier lol (ps. if anyone has any good charlie songs pls send them to me!!)

in no particular order: macdennis, charden, charmac, charmacden, deetress, chartemis, artemis/waitress (pretty sure i made this one up lol), charlie/scientist… i think that’s it? my fave are probably charmac, macdennis, charmacden, and deetress tho

Gonna do some light rambles abt some ocs I haven't rly properly introduced under the cut cause Im bored (design and art credits can be found on their toyhouse pages which will be linked)

Starting with Misk!! They're a little brat child who deeply admires Brady as she saved them during the rebellion in their town that took place a few years ago, and they currently live with her. Misk sees Brady as the definition of heroism, and constant tries to be like him, in their own weird way where they yell at ppl on the streets because they have no idea how to talk to ppl lol. After Brady had to leave town after an attempted murder, Misk refused to believe that Brady would do something like that, or at least not without good reason, and defended it fiercely, ultimately stubbornly choosing to leave town with it, much to its protest.

Next up Lum! They're another friend of Brady, although they used to see her as a rival and nemesis, as during the initial rebellion they had assumed they came to town specifically to try to capitalise on this chance for power and fame, but eventually grew to respect her after getting to know her more. Generally they're quite snarky and pessimistic, and while they still try to be the realist between them and Brady, they understand that their pessimism isn't actually always realistic, and that Brady does a good job at catching these moments and Brady honestly does more to balance them out than the other way around lol.

Now for a character that Ive technically introduced but haven't talked abt much, Miko! Shes the adopted daughter of the ancient sea leviathan Jarfield (my siblings bullied me into naming her that sorry 😔) who saved him from an attempted drowning from his bio parents. Jar was a deeply caring mother, but the two ended up growing a bit more distant as Miko got older, mostly because of how others treated Miko as a disciple of Jar and a messenger for her, leading to Miko feeling an incredible amount of pressure from nearly everyone she interacted with aside from her mother, leading to her trying to fit the role pushed on her more, and trying to treat her mom more as a boss than a parent. Jar tried to ease Miko's stress by reassuring him that he is still loved unconditionally, and that he doesn't need to be any sort of hero or champion, and to please take a god damn break. Miko of course refused to do so, leading to Jar trying to find creative ways to get Miko away from working herself to the bone for everyone she stumbles across. One day she tried sending him to investigate a thing she though was gonna be minor but out of the way and scenic enough to be a nice break, but alas it turned out to be in fact a very big thing, and now Miko has taken it upon himself to save the world rip

Aaaand last two for now, Dennie and Kickz! I'll keep this one short since I need to sleep, but uhhh body swap shenanigans ooo wacky (it's not wacky it ruined both of their lives lol). Loooong story short, Dennie died in her initial body as a kid, but was revived by some family with otherworldly magic thats illegal so to keep Dennie from just being killed again, they took advantage of a law they have abt wish contracts, and Dennie was assigned to semi haunt Kickz in order to grant their wish and hopefully get to live legally. Kickz was happy to help, although they didn't rly know how since their wish was just to have friends, but the two ended up growing up together and becoming rly close. Kickz started working to get a job as a fisher cause they're a loser like that, but Dennie was starting to get rly paranoid abt weather or not they'd ever get to go home and have a proper body again. Eventually they snapped at Kickz, and impulsively tried to steal their body, along with the pendant that the wish was tied to, but as Kickz was kicked out of her body, she managed to take the pendant with her, and ended up getting flung into Kickz body back in the magic world. They're both having a rough time lol
