#if you’re wondering what I mean about Leo’s outfits taking from his brothers

I honestly love the clothing styles of each of the turtles in this show and I love how these styles really incorporate their personalities as well.
Like, obviously Donnie has the best sense of style, yeah? Think that’s something pretty agreed upon here. Everything we see him put together is very meticulously crafted and clean. That goes with his personality because Donnie is a very meticulous person in general, and he knows what he likes very, very well, and knows how to flaunt it in turn. Him commenting on colors he enjoys or disapproving of outfits that the others see no problem with also shows how he just generally has an eye for this kind of thing. He doesn’t just know what looks good on himself, but also what looks good on others - and I think this ties into his love of gift giving too. Donnie also has a flair for making sure that his things have his “mark” on them, and his clothing is no exception. All that he wears and how he wears them screams “Donnie.”
Mikey is really fun because his styles are honestly a pendulum between super simplistic and incredibly out there. And often, you’re going to see a lot of color or patterns to both. And in my opinion I think that all reflects really well on Mikey’s character - he’s got a colorful personality but even more than that he’s incredible sure of who he himself is. Mikey’s style, I feel, is less what looks good as clothes and more what sparks joy in Mikey himself. His bright stickers he wears are a testament of that! He’s comfortable in his own skin and his style reflects this perfectly, whether he goes for a more out-there look or a more toned down one.
Now, for Leo. Okay, I think I’m actually in the minority here I feel because Leo’s style isn’t really that bad? Hear me out- if you actually look at what he wears, try taking out, like, one accessory. Suddenly, that outfit works! He even manages to put together many good outfits in the series, but his “bad” ones are the ones that tend to stand out, alas (just like how his mistakes tend to be big ones oop-) Basically, my personal look at him is not that he’s inept at styling at all, but that he has a “too much” gene. And like everyone else, this sense of style is completely like him, too. Going too far to impress when all he needed to do was slow it down some to think things through. (And funnily enough, a lot of his outfits take random aspects from his brothers too - “nothing without them” huh?)
For Raph, I feel bad for him since pretty much all of his clothes are inevitably going to be ripped, but he makes them work pretty much each time. Like Leo, Raph tends to go more sporty with his looks, but I also noticed that his stuff often goes in that in between of comfy, cool, and cute. His pajama suit in particular comes to mind in terms of “cute” as it’s more something you’d see younger children in rather than older kids, and I think it can be a subtle nod to the fact that for all Raph tries to seem older, he’s still just a kid too.
I could probably go on, but these are just all off the top of my head - I love how the boys’ personality’s come out in so many different ways.
#rottmnt#rise of the teenage mutant ninja turtles#rottmnt headcanons#rise donnie#rise leo#rise mikey#rise raph#I love fashion actually#if you’re wondering where this came from it came from me watching hours of outfit creation vids#but yeah! I honestly could probably go more into it#but I’m going off my memory for the most part rip#Leo in particular makes me sad because I disagree with like 99% of the fandom about his fashion sense LOL#I don’t think it’s bad but it’s def not close to Donnie level#Donnie is his own category#Leo though he’s not just jerseys and ripped sleeves#he wears full eye makeup as a granny and kills doing it#his pirate costume was very well put together imo#even his regular weird frog like disguise is perfectly fine when you get rid of the goggles#I ALSO don’t think Raph’s style is bad either#my boy has more difficulty with clothes since he’s limited to the stretchier stuff but like#he’s got good style!!#I’m def looking more into this all than necessary but#watch me come back to this and change it like fifty times#if you’re wondering what I mean about Leo’s outfits taking from his brothers#look at Raph’s standard disguise (the one they go out to play basketball with)#ripped sleeves and a backward cap#one of Leo’s main outfits in The Clothes Don’t Fit the Turtle?#ripped sleeves and backwards cap#incedentally these borrowed aspects actually hinder his overall look!#his outfit without them is more HIM y’know? which says a lot about allll their individual styles

Chapter 10 of the reincarnation au!
@daboyau
@rottmnt-background-screenshots
Surprisingly, no memory filled dreams happened that night.
The turtles and Splinter woke up mostly peacefully. It was later in the day since they stayed up most of the night.
The time difference was pretty rough but they were trying to handle that as best they could.
Leo portaled in some food and a pot for Mikey to make some breakfast over a fire they made outside. They had grilled fish and some rice, something they’d eat a lot of in their past lives.
Splinter joined them in the nostalgia over the meal. Even though the last time he had it wasn’t actually in a different lifetime, it might as well have been.
So much has changed since then.
He was never really planning on coming back, let alone bringing his sons along. There were too many painful memories he really didn’t want to revisit.
This wasn’t about him though. As much as those memories hurt them, there were a lot more painful memories awaiting his boys.
If he could help him through them then he would.
“What are you all planning on doing now that we are here?”
“I was thinking we should find some museums.” Leo answers.
Everyone stares at him in surprise.
“To see if our stuff is there! Just because we’ve had past lives doesn’t mean I like learning. In fact, if I ever say I actually want to go to a museum that isn’t magic or about Jupiter Jim, assume I’m a clone.”
“That makes a lot more sense.” Donnie deadpans.
“We should go to whatever museum here sent the key to the New York museum. If they had that, they probably have our stuff too. Or at least know where it’s at.” Raph suggests.
“I wonder why the museum sent it in the first place. I know they called it cursed, but what could the key have done?” Mikey questions.
“Guess we’re going to find out. Ikuzo, mis hermanos!” Leo holds up his sword.
“As much as I’d love to encourage your newfound trilingualness, we still have to use disguises. I doubt Japan is any better than New York with dealing with our green complexion.” Donnie makes him lower the sword.
“Blue, come with me to the lair for a bit. I have an idea.” Splinter looks at him.
“You’ve got it!” Leo portals the both of them away.
Eventually they come back, Leo lands dramatically in a brand new outfit.
He wore tabi socks and wooden sandals with blue straps.
His matching blue kimono had a red wrap around his waist and yellow stripes on the sleeves.
His brothers stare in awe.
“Dad made them for all of us!” Leo tosses the kimonos at his brothers.
They quickly get dressed.
Donnie had a purple kimono with black blocks etched all over.
Mikey wore a yellow kimono with orange spots.
Raph got a red kimono some tiger patches sewn on.
“Thanks, pops. I really appreciate it.”
Splinter smiles at him.
“You’re welcome, my son. I will take on my radical teen disguise. I will be just one of the gang.”
“These take care of our lack of clothes, but not the green skin.” Donnie says as he looks at his clothes more.
Leo holds out some wide brimmed straw hats in front of them.
“No, but these do! Now let’s get to that museum before it closes. You can thank me later for finding out which one it was later.“
After completing their disguises, Leo portaled them to near where the museum was.
Luckily for them they came at a time where after waiting about 20 minutes, it was free to enter.
They began looking all over the different exhibits. Seeing the tools and items from 1,000 years ago brought both a sense of familiarity and foreignness.
Sure they had seen it all the time in their memories, but back then they were brand new. Now they could see just how much they aged.
The time they had been alive before was so far behind them.
Slowly, and really without realizing it, they began to drift apart to different areas of the museum.
Raph found himself standing and staring up at a case holding pieces of something. His eyes are drawn back down to the plaque in front of it.
He didn’t need to read it to know what the pieces were of.
His heart ached. Sure it had broken a few times and was always replaced, but something told him that this mask had been the last.
Aoi wasn’t there to get Tora a new one.
She could have bought her own. He knew it wouldn’t be the same. The mask itself was never really what she was attached to.
He feels a gentle bump to his arm and glances downwards.
His eyes widen when he sees Leo holding up a mask that looked very similar to the one that was currently shattered.
“Guess what I found in the gift shop! I had to hold like 50 of these to get to the biggest one in the back.”
Raph kneels down and takes it. He couldn’t help but match the big grin spread across Leo’s face.
For a moment he sees Aoi in his place, holding out that mask for the first time. Their smiles never changed from one life to the other.
“Thanks, Leo.”
“Anytime, imōto-uh, I mean, aniki, I mean-! Ugh, you know what I mean.”
Raph chuckles.
“Doesn’t matter what you call me. Family means family.”
“Speaking of family, any idea where Donnie and Mikey went? I know dad left to go grab us lunch.”
“No idea. Must have found something pretty interesting.”
Mikey and Donnie had found each other as well, in more ways that one.
“…..Donnie?”
“I know, Mikey. I know.”
They looked at the ancient pieces of clothing that slightly matched the kimonos they were currently wearing.
The ones behind the glass were torn, not because of age or time, but clearly from something purposeful.
Kosuke’s clothing had medium sized holes singed into the arms and legs.
The entirety of the back of Tomo’s top was just….gone. The fabric around it seemed torn to shreds.
There were rectangular pieces missing as well in the same areas as Kosuke’s.
“Do you think….we were together when it happened?” Mikey questions despite knowing the answer deep down.
“Yes.” Donnie lies.
Mikey appreciates it.
They decide to meet back up with the others.
The four of them are at the entrance to the museum again soon enough.
Splinter calls to them from outside to tell them that he got the food.
They all leave together and find somewhere to sit down and eat.
The plan after that is to do some sightseeing using the portals.
Whenever Aoi wanted them to go would probably rev up some memories.
The portals mainly landed them in older villages at first.
Each of this towns had some sort of inscription somewhere about warriors that arrived in their time of need.
After Tomo and Aoi got their powers, it didn’t take long for Tora and Kosuke to get them too.
The memories they saw in those villages showed them that.
For Leo and Donnie, there was some kind of pride at seeing Tora and Kosuke….grow.
It was probably more Aoi and Tomo’s feelings though.
It was hard enough surviving childhood with what they had.
Getting to their teen years? A miracle.
Being in their 20s seemed impossible.
They still made it, though.
Raph couldn’t help but be so happy about them all being heroes.
He knew eventually they’d be the great mystic warriors that their dad talked about, but this sort of journey was what he always dreamed of.
He dreamt it less when being a hero meant losing a brother, or brothers.
Still….the looks on their previous lives’ faces was so endearing. They loved helping people.
Despite everything they went through, they somehow managed to keep being kids.
It was nice.
The last place they decided to go to had way more people.
It was also filled with a lot more things than the long abandoned villages. It reminded them a lot of New York.
Bright lights, loud noises, the works.
The group kept taking pictures of themselves indulging in whatever was around.
The food stands, the stores filled with plushies, the high tech advertisements.
Donnie lifted up his phone to take a selfie in front of a Hatsune Miku billboard when he noticed something orange rush by.
“Mikey? Where are you going!?”
“I see Tora!”
Donnie quickly started running after him.
“There is no need to chase a memory! Just ignore it!”
“What if it’s important!?”
“I guarantee it’s not important enough for this! Stop already!”
“I want to know where she’s going!”
“Mikey!”
“Almost-!” He reaches his hand out.
“MIKEY!”
Donnie pulls him back hard enough for his hat to go flying off.
The hat lands in the street in front of him, almost immediately getting crushed flat by a speeding car.
Donnie held Mikey to himself as close as he could.
Mikey stared in shock at the fact that he could have been in the place of that hat.
Donnie breathes heavily and tries not to think about how if he was just a little slower his baby brother would be gone all over again.
…..Again?
Oh god.
The others run over.
“Mikey! Donnie! What happened!?” Raph kneels down to make sure they’re both okay.
“I….I almost ran into the road….” Mikey answers.
“You what!?“ Splinter shouts in a panic.
“I saw Tora-“
“And you just took off!?” Leo interrupts.
“It seemed like a good idea at the time!”
Splinter sees the crowd of people staring at them.
“Boys, we should be getting home now.”
Raph sees this this as well and ushers everyone back through the crowd.
Once they’re out of view enough Leo portals them back to the house.
It’s only then that Mikey leaves Donnie’s hold.
“Okay, so maybe that wasn’t my best idea….but I just wasn’t thinking.”
“I’ll say, that’s the dumbest dumb dumb thing I have ever seen anyone do.” Donnie crosses his arms.
“I’m sorry! I already feel dumb, you don’t have to say it….”
“No! I do have to say it! I tried to stop you! You weren’t just not thinking, you ignored me on purpose!”
“Donnie, I said I was sorry-“
“You never get it! Like when you kept trying to use your magic hands when you knew our ninpo was gone!”
“It worked eventually!”
“Only after we got it back! That’s exactly what I’m talking about! Why do you keep doing things without even giving one second to think about it!?”
“Donnie! Aren’t you going just a little too far!?” Leo gets between them.
Donnie frowns deeply and takes a breath to start up again, but as he sees the tears starting in Mikey’s eyes it dies on his tongue.
“I’m going to bed.” He rushes past everyone to another room.
Mikey tries to follow him but Splinter stops him.
“Orange, I know you want to fix this, but some things need time to settle before you can attempt a repair.”
Mikey sighs heavily.
“But he’s going to sleep angry, we’re never supposed to do that.”
“Sometimes forcing a reconciliation will just create more anger. Don’t worry. Perhaps in the morning Donatello will want to talk.”
Mikey whimpers slightly but nods in understanding.
Leo fixes up their sleeping space and everyone, excluding Donnie, sleeps together in the room.
Or attempts to.
Raph wrapped himself around them all closely, protectively.
Mikey opened his eyes and stares up at the ceiling.
Despite the warmth all around him and the ever comforting rumble of Raph’s snores, he was absolutely restless.
Donnie was missing and it bothered him to no end.
He eventually knows that he will not be getting to sleep unless he does something. So, he carefully slips out of Raph’s hold and sneaks into the room Donnie is sleeping in.
Mikey frowns as he sees him curled up, probably cold.
He quietly walks over to him and lays down next to him. He’s worried that if he touches him he’ll wake up and kick him out of the room.
To his surprise, he gets grabbed and pulled to Donnie’s plastron.
Mikey smiles and snuggles into him.
He’s asleep within minutes.

Hey its ray-jaykub! I saw that you did requests and i was wondering if i could get head-cannons on the turtles and what they like to do with their respective s/os
OMG I love you!!! Okay I gotta calm down hooo
Tumblr media
Leo
·         Love love loves to carry you over rooftops and sit on high points to look over the city with you. This is one of his ways to calm down and think about things without his brothers’ around to stress him out, and having you there some nights, looking at the glitter of the lights – poetry for his heart
·         Speaking of poetry – you guys will have contests for who can make the worst poems. Just something to pass off to each other between visits, something you find in your bag or in his bed sheets. Cheesy, unrhythmic, stupid, whatever. You guys have cried laughing before b/c of this. However, every once in a while he’ll slap you with a real intimate and loving poem that just makes you melt.
·         You’ve started trying to sneak up on him. It doesn’t work. He still lets you do it, just so he can turn around and grab you at the last second. Sometimes he throws you on the nearest soft surface, sometimes he gives you a big kiss, sometimes he just starts carrying you around like a sack of potatoes – depends on his mood honestly. Your determination to spook him is cute.
·         Watching or listening to True Crime stuff becomes a quick couple’s hobby for you guys. Usually it’s playing in the background as you each do chores or work on some project, but you’ll each talk about the case throughout. You’ve hit him more than once for giving away what happened or who killed who. He’s too good at figuring this kind of stuff out!
·         He loves when you sit with him when he meditates. Even if you aren’t the meditating type, if you just sit quietly by him or read, he already feels much calmer. If he’s practicing balancing moves, he’ll sometimes grab you to hoist you up in the air, “to practice strength” at the same time. You’ve learned it’s a very bad idea to squirm when he’s got you planking above his head; he will start tickling you if you don’t keep still.
Tumblr media
Raph
·         Once he gets a good enough disguise, he loves to ride around on his newly built motorcycle with you on the city streets. It’s fun to zip through cars and people and drive out to the sparser points of the city to watch ships come in and out of the bay or go to a park outside the city to watch the lights as they all turn on at dusk.
·         Loooovvess having movie nights with you. Seriously asks for it every week. You two get comfy on the couch with like 3 blankets thrown over your laps and watch something like Jurassic Park or Mad Max and gorge on buttery popcorn and chocolate. Sometimes you’ll slip in a chick flick like Pride and Prejudice. He acts like he doesn’t like it, but you’ve caught a goofy, happy smile on him more than once at the end of the movie, and then he starts lifting your hand like Mr. Darcy and adopting more “romantic” actions and it’s just *chef’s kiss*
·         You guys will spar together. It’s kinda required once you date him; he wants you to be able to kick butt if he can’t get to you fast enough. But these sessions usually end up with you and him wrestling/tickling each other and him holding you down with a foot while he lifts weights. Get comfy princess, he ain’t moving that foot ‘til he get 100 reps.
·         He has a really good eye for fashion and makeup. He’s actually the one that sews together all of his family’s clothes, as much as possible with the scraps they find around. It’s calming to make something instead of the stigma he has of destroying stuff. He’s the first person you SnapChat with an outfit just to make sure it looks good, and he sends back honest feedback, like “why do you still have that scarf, you know it doesn’t match anything in your closet,” or “try the red sweater with that long gold necklace you have.” Everyone compliments your outfits so much because of his input
·         Likes to go swimming with you. There’s a few clear, clean pools in the sewers (Donnie approved) where you guys go just to have a good swim. There’s usually some candles lit and music playing. More often than not, you’ll end up laying on his chest while he floats on the surface and just enjoy each other’s company. At least until he gets the idea to dunk you.
Tumblr media
Donnie
·         Sneaking into the rafters of Broadway is a regular event for you guys. He manages to disable any security they have up around your “spot,” and you get a free show with your favorite person. He’ll be quoting his favorite lines for days after, all the while talking about the next show to see. He’d so be a theater kid if he had the chance.
·         One of the main things that got you guys together in the first place was you helping him put together tech he’s working on. It still continues now, since you have a steady hand and a willing ear to listen to his theories and ideas. You’ve even inspired him a few times with your comments! It’s a casual bonding activity for you both, and he values your thoughts.
·         Spontaneous dances are a must. Sometimes he’ll grab you and dance around the room – especially if an experiment of his goes well – sometimes it’ll be goofy dances to see how badly you two can embarrass anyone looking, and other times, you guys will just slow dance before you leave, just as a way to be close before having to part.
·         You guys form your own little potted plant collection in the lair. It’s both a hobby, and a way for you to check on how he’s doing. If he’s doing well, the plants are watered and taken care of. If he’s getting sucked into things and forgetting to care for himself, the plants suffer. He tries to get an auto-watering system for them, but you shut that down quick. It’s good to do some things yourself rather than rely on technology!
·         Cupcake Saturdays are a thing. He’ll take you to a bakery, where you’ll go in and get a box of cupcakes (extra frosting). You guys will then just chow down on them on the rooftop, often with him licking a lot of the frosting off the cupcakes before eating the actual “cake” part.
Tumblr media
Mikey
·         Such a fan of trying every new restaurant you can find in NYC. It’s become a date-night tradition every Thursday to either order or pick up some hole-in-the-wall place’s food, meet up somewhere, and Gordon Ramsay the crap out of the food. He does a mean Ramsay impression, and you’ve snorted more than one ramen noodle out of your nose from laughing so hard.
·         If you aren’t a fan of video games, you will be once you date this guy. It’s not even just watching or playing video games with him, he’s just funny when he plays! He’ll make the most stupid comments about something going on in the storyline, or mess around, even glitch out a game. He’s managed to get out of the maps of Among Us more than once. You’re convinced if he started his own YouTube gaming channel, he’d be a quick star.
·         Game nights are a must for you guys. It usually turns into a family game night with you, the turtles, Splinter, April and Casey, which Mikey just adores because he gets to see everyone he loves having fun. You two will usually team up against the others, or turn on each other to stab the other in the back. Uno and Cover Your Assets have made you guys question your loyalty to each other more than once. That Uno Reverse card, man…
·         Arts and crafts are his favorite. Anytime a holiday is coming up, Mikey gets hyped ‘cause he knows you guys are gonna start making decorations for it. You guys will usually make decorations for each other. Mikey loves this, just because he feels like a normal person by having actual Halloween decorations around the lair instead of stuff he and his bros scraped together off the streets.
·         Loves to stargaze with you in the summer time. He’ll convince Donnie to let him drive the truck out of the city to the countryside of New York, bring you with him, and set up on the roof of the truck in the middle of a field (that he totally didn’t crash through a wood fence to get to). Fireflies will fly over your faces, and he’ll joke that they’re shooting stars and make a thousand and one wishes on each of them. He won’t tell you that all of those wishes are for you and him to be together forever, but it’s not hard to guess with how mushy he gets after each one.

From attack mode to baby mode final
with his diaper bag packed and Leo dressed and ready to go, Baby Yusei was helped into a large stroller by his 'big bro and sis' though he fussed and whined a little as he tried to get comfy in the dark blue thing.
Oh, it was big enough that he barely had to bend his legs to fit in and everything and it was padded so it felt like he was on a pillow but still, some small part of him felt like he should be WALKING.
Luna had gotten his diaper bag and some toys packed away in the under carriage and it was Leo who was shaking a rattle in Yusei's face trying to calm him down.
"shhh it's ok little guy! Look I know you wanna walk to the park like a big kid, but you ALSO know you're just gonna get tired and wanna be carried. you can run around LOTS once we get to the park ok?" Leo tried.
Sucking on his paci and squirming in his thick diapers and pretty outfit, Yusei sighed and stopped his fusing but reached out with his hand, opening and closing it.
the universal gesture of 'gimme' among babies and toddlers (and some adults)
Leo smirked and pulled the rattle back towards himself for a Second as Luna stood up and Yusei whimpered and whined, reaching with both hands now.
He didn't really get why he wanted the damn thing SO much but he could feel the tears building up as he stained for it.
"Leo! Stop teasing him and give him the rattle or you'll be joining him in the stroller!" Luna scolded, hands on her hips.
with how fast he tossed the rattle into the stroller for Yusei to play with it, you'd of sworn the thing had become super hot to the touch, but Yusei just giggled and grabbed it, shaking it lots and sucking on his paci.
The walk to the park wasn't all that long, but somehow they seemed to past half the people they knew on the way. Each and every time they were stopped Yusei was sure he was about to be laughed at, or get asked what the hell he was doing but everyone just treated him like he'd always been a little sissy baby.
'Huh, some sorta..re-writiing of history? a illusion of sorts? who's got the power to pull off something like this?" Yusei wondered, going deep in thought even as he kept shaking the rattle.
So deep in thought was he he didn't realize that Crow had been looking down at him till the orange haired duelist reached in and light brushed his fingers on Yusei's nose, then put his thumb between two fingers.
"Got your nose!" Crow teased and Yusei giggled at that and reached up with a free hand, trying to get it back.
Crow teased him for about 10 seconds before relenting and Yusei just let his instincts in this time line or whatever was going on take over. To that end once he got a hand on crow's, he dropped the rattle and put his other hand on Crows and made a snatching motion then put both his hands onto his face and giggled as he removed them, implying he'd put his nose back.
"Oh my, such a clever baby! I know when I'm Licked." Crow chuckled and ruffled Yusei's hair. "You guys have fun but don't stay out too long, it's gonna be a scorcher today and you don't want the baby getting a sun burn."
Advise given, the duelist walked off and the trio finally made they're way into the park, heading right for the playground equipment.
Well almost right for, Luna took them to a park bench first and started to get some things unloaded while Leo amusingly started to jog in place.
"Can I go play now? Can I go play now? Can I go play now?" He kept asking.
"remind me again which one of us is technically older?" Luna asked, rolling her eyes. "and if you'd help me get some toys out and get Yusei set up in the sand box, you can go and hit the swings."
"Finnnne." Leo said and then grabbed the bucket that Luna offered and stuffed it with a toy shovel and rake and then dashed over to the sandbox to plant it for Yusei, and called over from the sand box.
"NOW can I go play?"
"I hope your not as hyper as him when you get to be his age Yusei." Luna said softly, smirking and undoing the straps of the Stroller and helping Yusei out even as he frowned a little.
'Huh? when i get to be his age? I'm older then he is!..aren't I?' Yusei wondered mentally.
He would of put more focus on that thought but as he was set on the the ground on all fours his body surprised him by taking off crawling at a fair speed heading for the sand box.
Luna kept up, though she was also clearly keeping one eye back on the stroller and then as they got to the sand box she stayed out to watch as Yusei climbed in and found the feeling of the sand between his fingers to rather interesting and kept grabbing big handful's of it and coo'ing, letting the paci fall from his mouth.
"Now remember Yusei, the sands for playing in, not for eating." Luna coo'ed.
"and try and leave some in the sandbox this time." Leo joked then gave Luna a pleading look and went to open his mouth,.
"Yes Leo, you can go and play now. but don't wander off anywhere by yourself. I don't wanna have to go looking for you again." Luna said, then raised a eyebrow and that caught Yusei's attention, and he noticed how Leo was hopping around.
"But first go and use the bathroom." Luna giggled.
"I don't have to!" Leo huffed, blushing.
"Leo, if you wet your trainers, you'll have to wear one of Yusei's diapers. do you want that?" Luna asked.
"..I'm gonna go and use the bathroom, but only cuz -I- wanna!" Leo huffed and then took off for the public restroom.
"Boys, am I rite?" Luna asked and smirked, leaning down and ruffling Yusei's hair.
He would of complained or pointed out he was a boy, but between his sissy outfit and the urge to make a sand castle the argument was gone from his mind in seconds.
The sand box didn't have anyone in it making Yusei king (or was that queen?) of the sand box for about the first 20 minutes he was playing in it.
he was amazed to find how fun it was to just dig his hands into the sand and pretend it was a sand monster but after a few minutes of that, it was time to get to work.
Any self respecting Queen of the sand box after all had to have his own castle, that was just common sense and spending 15 or so seconds planing it out, he took hold of the pail and shovel Luna had give him and got to work.
His Castle would be composed of grand towers where lots of guards could be stationed to protect their loving queen, and have a moat around it to trap the stinky heads from the evil fart nation. as such he picture a white stone castle with pink tiled roofs and a massive moat filled with hungry gators that loved to eat pants and undies but never people (he wasn't a monster after all) and would send the soldiers of the fart nation running home clutching they're butts and crying for mommy.
In practice however, it was bucket shaped mounts of sand already crumbling, with some twigs stuck in them for where the flags would be and the moat was drawn in the sand with his finger, him crawling and wiggling his padded behind as he went all around the castle.
turning around Yusei went to call out to Luna to come and see his amazing castle when a mean voice behind him caught his attention.
"Nice sand castle loser. looks more like a pile of dog crap!"
whirling around Yusei saw a 5-6 year old chubby boy with a blond crew cut and wearing blue jeans and a black t-shirt that read 'fuck the rules' on the front of it. Despite mentally knowing he was older and should be bigger and stronger then this little twat monkey, Yusei felt himself trembling in fear.
"L-Leave me alone or I'll call my big sis and brother over!" Yusei stammered out.
"Awww is the widdle pamper packer gonna cry boo hoo hoo and whine for help?" The bully mocked, and rubbing his fists under his eyes mockingly.
Behind him not too fair off was a 12-13 year old in a similar outfit, only with a jean jacket and sporting a kool-aid dyed green Mohawk. figuring it was the bullies big brother, the older boy was smirking and nodding his approval at his little brothers behavior, clearly proud.
'Great.normally I'd handle bullies like this with ease and instead I'm seconds away from wetting myself in terror.' Yusei thought then felt a warm gush in the front of his diapers. 'Never mind..'
"Ha! I heard that! Did the big dumb baby piss his pampers?" the brat said, sticking out his tongue and tugging down on a eyelid with one hand and flipping baby Yusei off with the other. "Here, this will really make you sob and fudge your huggies!" He said and then before baby Yusei could react, he raised a foot and stomped down on the sand castle, making quick work of it.
"N-No STOP!! I-I worked weally h-hard on..L-LUNA! L-LEO!" Yusei cried out, starting to wail.
He wasn't sure what they had been doing but within seconds they were at his side, with Luna kneeling down and trying to comfort Yusei and letting him blubber on her shoulder while Leo clenched a fist and got in the bullies face.
"What's wrong with you? Picking on a little kid?! I got half a mind to give you a taste of your own medicine!" He growled.
"go ahead, try it.. OH Maxxxxx!" The little bully called, and the punk from before strolled over.
"There a problem here billy?" the boy asked, smirking and making sure his much more developed then normal for his age muscles showed.
"This green haired little snot is threatening to kick me butt!" Billy said with a smirk."Can you kick his instead?"
"Sure thing little dude." Max said and went to go and deliver a punch to Leo's face, making Leo flinch and turn away, but he never should of worried, the punch was caught by Luna, who looked totally pissed.
"You know..I hate fighting..I would prefer to settle things with a duel." She said, and twisted and squeezed on the fist in her hand, making Max drop to a knee even as he tried with no success to pry her hand off of him.
Billy yelped and then went to attack Luna but Leo stuck out a arm and the soon to be ex bully clothesline himself, doing a 360 before landing face first in the sand, eyes rolling in his head.
"Billy!"Max cried out.
"Is not your concern right now. your little brother made our little baby sissy cry. then you went to attack my twin brother...as I was saying, just because I don't LIKE to fight, doesn't mean I won't. I'm giving you ONE chance to say sorry, and take Billy and leave, Or I'll show you the true meaning of pain." Luna said, eyes burning.
Yusei sniffled and watched in amazement at the sight in front of him, and felt his bowels giving away, filling up the back of his diaper..
'remind me never to piss big sister off!' he thought and stuck a thumb in his mouth, only to pull it out and make a face because the sand on it.
"I..I..I'm sorry." Max was whimpering. "Please just let me go!"
Luna went from a living nightmare to smiling sweetly and let go of Max's fist, and leaning down.
"I hope next time we see you on the playground we can all play ni-" She was saying when Max went for a sucker punch.
Luna blocked it with one arm and punched him across the chin, sending max into a heap next to his brother.
"heh.. gonna call them the candlelight brothers." Leo chuckled, going over and checking on Yusei.
"Hmmm?" Luna asked, turning around and joining him.
"one blow and their out."
"heh, nice. Though I think we better call it a day.. I think we're attracting a bit too much attention." Luna said, looking around at all the stares they were getting. "Besides it smells like somebody made a super stinky diaper!"
Luna added, leaning down and tickling Yusei who giggled and gurgled despite the hot smelly load in his pampers.
Getting back home Luna got Yusei changed into a fresh diaper while Leo when and started the landry, and once the baby was all nice and clean she just had him in a light pink top with purple text that read 'little stinker' in cursive.
"I'm sorry you fun at the park today got ruined little one." Luna was saying, getting Yusei's attention as he seemed to drift out of it for a second.
he couldn't be sure but it seemed like everything in the house was just a bit bigger then it had been before they had left.
'But that's impossible..I'm not shrinking..then again I've woken up to a world where I'm a sissy baby and Luna's a freaking super sayian sooo I guess nothing really is impossible at this point.' Yusei thought.
"It's s'ok Big sis, not your fault people are big stinky farts." Yusei coo'ed, making Luna giggle.
"well put little one. Well I suppose we could watch some cartoons. " Luna said, giving Yusei a hug.

guess who watched high school musical 2 and got caught up in the ryan/chad of it all: a conchell AU
this is pure 100% cheese. thats ur warning. also unbeta-ed.
Spending the entire summer at their mother’s golf resort had sounded like a dream for exactly 3 seconds, until Mitchell remembered the…. Everything about his siblings.
When he wasn’t pulling Sebastian away from flirting with all their guests and the entire staff, he was lecturing Scarlett and Drew about taking advantage of the concierge service, making sure Stefan and Valentina weren’t spending too much time in the sun and were definitely drinking virgin cocktails, reigning in Lacey and Sophia’s pranks, and making sure Sabrina was happy in her first summer enrolled in the youth program. Oh, and he was choreographing a major number for the end of summer talent show. So. Full plate.
Still, it was nice he had convinced Will to come along for the summer. While he was one of Mitchell’s official guests, he had quickly befriended the entire young staff in the kitchens and by the poolside. More than often, when they were on their walks around the resort, Will would no doubt be called out to or greeted by grinning teens in red and white polos.
Mitchell, used to his friend’s sunflower attraction toward attention, smiled knowingly and let it happen without a complaint. At least Will was enjoying himself--he’d been way too stressed about his pre-med program the last few months and, with Mitchell spending most of his time at the resort trying to rein in his power-drunk sibling, he was glad his friend wasn’t spending the summer alone at the poolside.
Of course, with all his new acquaintances, that also meant that Will’s tendency to interfere with Mitchell’s personal relationships appeared.
“I’m telling you, you need to hang out with friends more, you’ve been busy all summer!” Will was smiling brightly. “This is the perfect opportunity!”
“Yes, the perfect opportunity to intrude on a social gathering!” Mitchell protested, “It’ll be weird if I go. You should just go and have fun, don’t worry about me.” Mitchell sighed, “I don’t want them to be uncomfortable! This is their down time, I don’t want to ruin it by being the boss’s kid.”
Will rolled his eyes, “It’s a baseball game, Mitchell.”
Mitchell shook his head, final. “Sorry. But I don’t think so. Text me afterward, okay? We can grab ice cream.” Will said nothing. He peeked a look back to the other boy, “Unless there’s something else?”
Will sighed and looked off to the side as his cheeks colored. “Okay, listen, of course I really want you there because you’re my best friend and everything but also -”
“There’s a guy.” Mitchell guessed, bored. Will found the love of his life at least once a week. “Who is he?”
Will didn’t even put up a fight. “I’m not sure if you know him. He works in the coffee shop? Pale, dark hair, sharpest cheekbones I’ve ever seen?”
Mitchell thought for a second, “Nico?” He guessed. Nico, for the past few months, has consistently served him the best caramel macchiato he’d ever had every morning. Mitchell dreamt about that drink, on especially good nights.
Will melted into a dreamy mess. “Yeah. Nico.”
Mitchell blew a puff of hair up into the hair around his face, “I mean…” He grimaced, “If you need a wingman or something -”
“Yes!” Will was already celebrating, “Thank the gods, thank you! I mean, I think you’ll enjoy yourself at the game and everyone’s really cool, but yes! Okay, if you could just like, set up a really good opportunity for me and Nico to be together like, alone, I’d so appreciate it -”
Will continued to ramble about the perfect situation Mitchell could set up, including the ideal mood lighting, when Mitchell interrupted him.
"Is Percy okay?" Percy had just rushed by, looking upset, and hopped in his mother’s car without a word to either of them--odd, as he usually offered at least a hey guys! If not a full on conversation that left Mitchell feeling like a better person for having it. It was kind of his thing.
"Oh, he's in turmoil because he feels like he has to choose between swimming or singing with Annabeth at the talent show and he doesn’t know which to choose."
“Oh.”
Will wrinkled his nose, “Yeah, he’s kinda got his own thing going on right now. I saw him dancing by himself in the golf course earlier, but I thought I’d just give him some space.”
“Smart,” Mitchell commented, growing a bit uneasy as they approached the field. There was a crowd already assembled there with a smaller circle throwing a baseball back and forth. As they approached, a few people called out to Will in excitement but it wasn’t until they were faced with a smaller inner group of people that Mitchell was addressed.
A tall, smirking guy with wild curls was the first to greet him, lightly tossing a baseball into his own mit as he spoke. “Brought a friend, Will?”
Will smiled brightly. “Yeah! This is Mitchell.”
“Trust me, I know who Mitchell is.” His humor-filled gaze flickered to Mitchell himself. “Nice to finally meet you.”
Mitchell’s cheeks heated. “You know me?”
Travis let out a small disbelieving laugh. “Yeah. Yeah, I do.” Travis elbowed the guy at his side, who shared similar curls and features. “And this is my brother, Connor.”
“Hello, I don’t think we’ve been properly introduced.” Mitchell held out his hand with a smile. “I’m Mitchell. You’re on the staff, here?”
Despite the incredibly stupid question Mitchell just asked considering Connor’s bright red LIFEGUARD tank top he still wore, Connor was kind enough to nod along with Mitchell’s obvious question, his eyes wide. Mitchell’s hand, still extended out to him, wobbled in the air.
He was a second away from dropping his arm and shaking it off completely when Connor seemed to realize that he was waiting for a handshake in the first place and nearly dived for it. In his haste, he almost completely tripped over himself and onto Mitchell.
“Oh, well,” Mitchell caught him before he could take them both down on the dirt field. “Are you okay? Is it too hot or something?” Connor’s face was strangely pale compared to his brother’s, despite the mid-afternoon summer sun. Mitchell resisted the urge to reach out and touch his skin for sun stroke.
“So hot,” Connor whispered, in his arms. Mitchell stared down at him in concern.
A girl--Katie, maybe--came up beside him and physically took Connor out of his arms, a tight smile on her lips. “This is nothing, he’s just dehydrated.”
“More like thirsty.” A girl across from them muttered.
Katie continued on like no one said anything. “Let’s get some water in you, dude.”
Will was smiling on like this interaction was completely normal. “So anyway I was wondering if Mitchell could join our game?”
“Hmm, well this is an employee-only game.” Despite his words, the light tease in Travis’s voice kept Mitchell from getting nervous about the whole situation. “But it does raise the stakes.”
That Mitchell could work with. His lips stretched out into a wide grin. “Yeah? What were you thinking?”
Travis clicked his tongue, “How do you feel about being Captain? I take one team, you take the other.”
He thought it over then nodded. “That sounds fair. What’s the prize?”
Travis shrugged, messing with the baseball in his mit as he spoke. “Any ideas?”
Mitchell pretended to think, already knowing what he wanted. With a group this size, his choreo could really expand into something great. “If you lose, you guys have to join my dance group for the talent show.”
“Hmm,” Travis looked to the girl at his side--Phoebe, he thought, another lifeguard. She once helped him with Sabrina’s floaties. “We’ll consider that. Guys?” The circle of employees gathered a bit closer to talk it over. Will shot him an excited look.
Suddenly, in the midst of their talking it over, Connor burst from the huddle and pushed his way over to Mitchell. “I’ll give you fifty dollars if you let me on your dance team.”
“Wait, no -” Travis grabbed his shoulders from behind to push him back, “Connor, we’re trying to negotiate with him!”
“Oh,” Connor nodded seriously and turned back to where Mitchell was waiting, amused. “I’ll pay two hundred -”
Katie slapped a hand over his mouth and dragged him back to the crowd, him protesting all the way. Travis looked back to Mitchell, tired. “Just ignore him, please.”
Mitchell watched him sink back into the crowd, something small curled at his lips. “I don’t think I can.”
“Anyway,” Katie was the one to speak now. “We talked it over, that sounds fine. If we lose, we’ll be in your show.”
Mitchell had to resist punching the air in excitement. “Great.”
Travis leaned back with his arms crossed, looking him over. “And what do we get if we win?”
“Well, what do you want?”
“Dinner and a movie,” Connor choked out, almost like he didn’t mean to.
Mitchell raised an eyebrow, “An catered employee afternoon in the movie theatre?” He thought it over, then shrugged. “I could probably arrange that.”
Travis rubbed at his forehead, “I - sure. Yeah, that sounds fun.”
“Alright,” Mitchell smiled with a small shrug of his shoulders. “I guess it’s game on, then.”
...
Of course, against a batch of peers who had been playing baseball all summer, Mitchell was bound to lose. However, they didn’t lose as hard as he expected.
After the match, when Mitchell was left aching from the game and loss but proud despite it, Will sunk down next to him at the picnic table. “Good game. I didn’t think you’d get so into it.”
At the last moment, Mitchell had ended up diving for a ball, completely dirting up his outfit. He had caught it, and it had counted, but two players had already made it home in the meantime. Still, it was a close loss.
Mitchell smiled slightly. “Me neither. But it was worth a shot at a full dance group.”
Will laughed softly, “Still. Great catch.”
“It really was.” They both looked up at the new voice--Katie, from before. She’d been on Travis’s team with Connor, Jason, Leo, Annabeth and a few others. The rest of the group was mostly dispersed by now, most of them arranging rides home or plans to grab food. “We haven’t had a game that fun in a while.”
At her arrival, Will stood and offered her his seat. Which was kind, but also definitely just a ploy to escape and run off wherever Nico was lurking. Mitchell waved him off with a roll of his eyes before returning back to the conversation. Katie took his place without a word.
“Well, I’m happy to help. It was a good time, you guys work well together.” Mitchell shot her a knowing grin. “I’ll start working out the theatre rental. Any movie requests?”
She shrugged, “We can take a vote on it. But we’ve also been talking.” Katie had an amused twinkle in her eye. “We’re in. We’ll still do your show, it sounds fun.”
Mitchell sat up completely, a bolt of excitement hitting him. “Wait, really?” At her nod, he absolutely lit up. “Oh my god, it’s gonna be such a fun show, I promise!” He got to his feet in excitement and threw his arms around her shoulders in a hug, pulling away promptly. “Oh my god, wait, I’m covered in dirt I’m so sorry -”
She waved it off but stood herself. She, too, was covered in dirt from the game so didn’t seem to care much at any additional.
He couldn’t help but babble on. “It’s going to be so much fun. You won’t regret it.”
She smiled at him, looking like she was indulging him. “I know. Anyway, just a moment,” She disappeared for a few moments only to return, dragging Connor by the wrist. She pushed him toward Mitchell, almost bumping them into each other. “Connor will be your contact point for organizing this. Trade numbers, will you? For planning.”
“Oh, sure!” Mitchell fumbled to get his phone out and hand it over. Connor’s phone appeared under his hand faster than he thought possible.
Katie left them alone as he punched in his own phone and name, drifting back to where Travis and a few others were waiting. He handed back Connor’s phone, suddenly closer to the other boy than he had realized. He paused.
“You have grass in your hair.” Connor breathed out.
“Oh,” Mitchell dipped his head in embarrassment and rubbed at his head. “Oops.”
“I -” Connor gestured to his own temple. “Other side?”
He tried but Connor only stepped forward slightly into his space, reaching out slowly. “Let me -” Mitchell felt a slight pull on his hair, not painful. Connor pulled away with a blade of grass in between two fingers.
“Got it,” Connor said weakly, staring down at him.
“My hero,” Mitchell teased. Connor nodded gravely at that, like he was accepting a mission.
Connor licked his lips before he spoke. “That was a really good catch. You’re a good player.”
“Baseball’s just a dance of its own.” Mitchell shrugged, joking. “What can I say? I’m just that much of a star athlete.” Connor nodded, looking like he completely agreed.
Before either of them could say anything further, Will called out to him and ran their way, grinning, with another guy at his side. “I heard the news! They’re still doing the show, that’s great!” Will was glowing, “See, coming to this was a great idea!”
Mitchell stuck out his tongue, “You just wanted to brag that you were right.”
“No!” Will looked behind where he had ran from and lit up, “Actually, I wanted to introduce you to Nico!”
Nico, who trailed after him a few steps, walked up beside Will with a sarcastic roll of his eyes. Mitchell liked him already. “Next time you’re going to run off mid-conversation, can you at least give me a warning first? I’ll die before I jog after you in jeans.”
“You’re the one who wore jeans to a baseball game!”
“And why not? You think I’m gonna participate in this?”
“Well, you’re an employee at an employee baseball game. Perhaps I thought you were going to play.”
“Where would you get that idea? Have you not seen the everything about me?”
“Hi, I’m Mitchell.” He stuck out his hand with a grin. He could sit here all day, truly, but he did have things to do. “You’re Nico?”
“That’s me.” He raised an eyebrow. “You look familiar.
“Mitchell is one of Aphrodite’s kids. He’s a good one, don’t worry.” Will explained, shooting Mitchell a wince like he didn’t know exactly how his siblings were.
Mitchell snorted, “On behalf of Drew and Scarlett, I can’t apologize enough.”
“That… helps.” Nico winced. “I messed up Drew’s chai latte my first day on the job.”
Mitchell groaned, “Again, I’m so sorry. I’ve been trying to get them to act like, you know, normal people -”
Nico cut him off. “We work at a golf club. I get more cranky boomers in an hour than an AARP meeting.” Nico shook his head, “They’re a lot, but definitely not the worst customers to have. At least they tip well.”
He could have wilted in relief. Across from him, Will’s eyes were nearly hearts. God, he was already lovesick.
Which reminded him --
“Actually, Connor and I were just leaving. We’ll leave you two be.” Mitchell lightly grabbed Connor’s elbow to start steering him away. “Will, can you get a ride home? I’m probably going to be staying late.”
Next to him, Nico perked up. “Oh, I can give you a ride? If you want? I’ll have to pick up my older sister but, um, it’s not that out of the way -”
“I would love to.” Will looked perfectly composed, despite the screaming excitement that must be running through his head. He even managed to grab onto Nico’s hand as he led them away toward the parking lot.
“Young love,” Mitchell commented, shaking his head fondly as the other couple walked off. “Must be nice.” He stepped back and dropped his hand from Connor’s elbow. “Oh, sorry!” He laughed lightly. “Sorry, I was recruited as Will’s wingman and I wanted to give them some time alone. Cute, right?”
Connor’s throat bobbled. “So cute. Um,” Connor made a jerky movement, like he was gonna run his hand through his hair but decided not to. “So you’re, uh, staying late?”
“Yeah,” He blew some air up into the hair hanging over his face. “If you guys are gonna join the number, I want to have the choreo adjusted for a group before we start rehearsals.”
“Cool, cool.” Connor nodded slowly, “Cool.”
Now that he was closer, Mitchell could almost recognize Connor from his many shifts poolside. His lifeguard chair was almost right across from where Valentina would occasionally drag him to tan in the afternoon sun. Didn’t he once help Mitchell apply sunscreen, when Valentina ran to get slushies right when he was reapplying?
His hands were cold, Mitchell remembered, or maybe his own skin was just that hot. He shivered when Connor applied the first handful of cream on his back. Mitchell had to advise Connor to take some of the sunscreen himself, after his own skin started to stain red.
He was kind, was the point. Or at least, that’s what Mitchell remembered.
Mitchell gestured at his parked golf cart as they approached it. “You want a ride anywhere? I’m heading toward the main pavilion.”
Something wobbled in Connor’s expression before he spoke. “I could, um, go with you?” He said it as a question, looking slightly nervous as he spoke.
“Yeah, sure! The employee entrance? Did you forget something?”
“No, no, like -” Connor made another awkward gesture toward nothing. “Like, if you need help with the number? I could come? I mean, it’s never too early to get started on learning the dance, right?”
Mitchell smiled, “Oh, sure! Do you have experience with dance routines?”
Connor nodded confidently. “Yes.”
“Really?” Mitchell turned to him in excitement. “Have you been in any dance groups before?”
“Um. No.”
“Oh, so like private lessons or something? A club?”
“Uh. No again.” His confidence was fully wavering now.
Mitchell raised his eyebrows, “So what experience do you have?”
“I sometimes dance in my room?” Connor scratched at the back of his head. “I, um. I didn’t think you’d ask many questions, actually.”
Despite his awkwardness, Mitchell was… charmed by Connor’s fumbling.
“Um,” Mitchell bit his smiling lip, looking away then back. “Actually, I was supposed to get ice cream with Will after the game.”
Connor deflated before he could finish. “Oh. Okay, yeah.”
“No!” Mitchell was quick to correct. “I meant like, with Will going off with Nico, I still want to get it. With you. If that’s okay?”
Connor’s expression bloomed into something so joyful, Mitchell was almost taken back. “I would… adore that.”
“Adore?” Mitchell couldn’t help but tease. “Why’s that?”
“I just,” He turned to Mitchell, his eyes wide. “I just really, really like ice cream.”
Mitchell bit his lip, “Me too. I mean, I really like ice cream. Ice cream is… sweet.”
Connor huffed out a small laugh, “Yeah. I, uh, agree.” He made an awkward little motion with his arm at the golf cart. “Um, shall we go?”
Mitchell stepped forward and looped his arm with Connor’s. “Actually, I thought we could walk?”
“I will do literally anything you want.”
Mitchell laughed, “I’ll hold you to that.”
To Mitchell’s amusement, Connor’s face turned a dark, dark red. He looked away, his lips pressed together in a small excited smile. Perhaps the baseball game hasn’t been such a bad idea.

Chapter summary: What happens after Leo returns? (At Waystation, pt 1234)
A/N:  What is this? A new chapter? I know I probably apologize too much but still, sorry for the long wait! Writer's block is not fun, you guys. It seems that I'm getting more and more insecure about where I should take this story by each chapter, but I did get a couple of encouraging comments while I was writing it and they motivated me to keep going! Extra special shoutout to my bff Cris(sy) for both recommending me the song that eventually helped this chapter to be born, and also helping me edit yesterday because I certainly wouldn't be posting this right now without you. (((((((((huug))))))))))
Disclaimer: The song New Year's Day obviously belongs to Taylor Swift and I definitely recommend listening to it while reading this chapter (specifically the scene where it's mentioned).
Words: 3300+
Genre: romance & hurt/comfort

Leo stayed at the park for a while longer, but eventually he knew he had to return to Waystation. The talk with Piper had made him feel a bit better, but he was still worried about how Calypso would react to his meltdown. In his opinion, she had every right to be mad. He would have to explain his behavior, but how? That was the big question.
It was already well past noon when Leo showed up at Waystation again. The building was surprisingly quiet when he entered, hoping the others were looking for him. Usually Georgina was all over the place around this time, sugar high from the chocolate she had eaten and making a mess with her new presents. Luckily, once he had removed his coat and his hat, he started hearing some clunking from the kitchen, indicating someone was there.
Instead of just bursting into the kitchen and announcing that he had returned, he stopped to watch by the doorway. Only Calypso and Georgina were in there, the younger girl chatting enthusiastically while the older one was instructing her with baking. They were standing with their backs towards the door so they couldn’t see Leo. The smell that was coming from the oven somehow felt very familiar… something he associated with Calypso. It wasn’t until she bowed down to take something out of the oven that he realized what it was. The cookies smelled the same as the cake Calypso had baked a few times at their flat, and the shampoo she used: cinnamon-y.
“Look, Georgina!” Calypso showed her the cookies. “These ended up pretty good.” It sounded like she was hesitating a bit before she continued: “Hopefully your brother will like them as well.”
“Oh, he will, Calie! He’d probably like anything you do!” Georgina noted in the straightforward style she was used to.
“But I didn’t make these alone,” Calypso reminded her. “I had a good helper.” She put the oven pan on the table and reached to ruffle the top of Georgina’s hair a bit.
“Where do you think he went, anyway?” Georgina asked. Leo wasn’t sure if he just imagined it but to him she sounded pretty worried. “I’ve not seen him that way often…”
Calypso sounded pretty cautious when she answered. “I’m sure he will be back soon. He must be tired because he’s been working a lot lately and that’s why he’s a bit on the edge… but he wouldn’t want to miss your gingerbread cookies. Hey, what color should we use to decorate these?” She turned Georgina’s focus back to the cookies again. “Do you think pink would be cute?”
“No, I want all the different colors! Blue, red, purple, green, yellow…” Georgina started listing all the colors that she could remember.
“I don’t think we have that many food color bottles here,” Calypso pointed out with amusement. “But you know, we can try to mix some together!”
“That sounds great! Hey, is pink your favorite color?” The girl asked suddenly.
“Hah, what gives me away?” Calypso chuckled. Even the apron she was currently wearing happened to be pink, although Leo knew that was probably purely coincidental because she was using one of Emmie’s aprons.
“You’re always wearing something pink and you even wanted pink gingerbread cookies,” Georgina noted while she started mixing the sugar frosting very eagerly.
“You’re a smart one, aren’t you?” Calypso teased. “I do really like pink, though. I don’t know. Maybe it reminds me of the sunsets back in my childhood home… But lately I’ve noticed that I have quite a lot of red things in my wardrobe too. But what about you? What’s your favorite color?”
Georgina gave Calypso a long and colorful answer, which Leo only half listened to. He started thinking about Calypso’s statement. He wasn’t completely dense; he had noticed that Calypso had often picked those outfits that he may have complimented at some point. But could it be that she had even started using more red because of him? Nah, he shook his head, that was a selfish way of thinking. Her outfit choices were probably purely coincidental.
Suddenly Leo realized that he had been standing there eavesdropping the girls way too long. When he was about to leave, though, he heard Georgina say: “my moms try to hide it from me, but I know that Leo is not OK. I mean, maybe he is, sometimes… but I remember that last Christmas was a lot like this one.”
“What do you mean?” Calypso asked.
“He didn’t yell at anyone, but… when he is in a bad mood he either shuts down and avoids us or is even louder than usual. But between the jokes, he doesn’t look happy at all. Moms would probably say ‘Georgie, you’re too small to understand that stuff’, but I’m not a baby anymore. This one golden haired dude visits us sometimes and he knows a lot about health things and he’s been teaching me as well. I know sometimes people get depressed, if for example something really bad has happened to them. And I think something very bad happened to big bro before he came here.”
“Yeah… sometimes things like that happen, sadly… But you know what?” Calypso said, probably attempting to sound more cheerful. “I think your brother is really trying. He cares about you so much he puts your happiness before his. He doesn’t want you to worry about him. But he’s strong, just like you, right? He’ll pull through.”
At this point Leo felt he had heard enough. He had been expecting some talk about him; after all he had just caused a scene in the middle of the present opening. But to hear Calypso talk about him that way? So sweetly? That he hadn’t expected. He had imagined she’d be mad at him after the ‘incident’ of that morning. Maybe she was just trying to be nice simply to calm Georgina down, but that he would never know.
He slowly started backing up, so that the girls wouldn’t notice his presence. However, just when he was nearly by the stairway, his foot hit a box that someone had left on the floor, making a loud noise. Cursing himself in his head, he quickly looked up to see that the sound had piqued the girls’ interest and they both tried to see where it had come from. He hid upstairs as quickly as he could, but that didn’t change the fact that Calypso most likely knew he had been listening to them.
Great, he thought, as he closed his bedroom door behind him. As if things hadn’t already been awkward enough even before this…
… (Calypso POV)
Once she was done with baking with Georgina, Calypso withdrew into her guest room for some ‘me’ time. She had a lot to think about. Leo hadn’t been around for the lunch, which meant that the Waystation group had been unusually quiet while finishing their meals. She knew everyone must have been thinking about him, but no one dared to bring him up. After the lunch, Georgina had asked Calypso to bake with her and she had agreed, welcoming the distraction. But Leo still hadn’t returned so she had started playing with the idea that she wouldn’t listen to Jo and Emmie’s advice, instead going to look for him after cleaning the kitchen. Before she had gotten that far, though, she had heard him in the hallway, but he had disappeared from there before she had time to even properly see him. However, she knew it couldn’t have been anyone else.
While she was relieved that he had finally come back, one part of her was also kind of mad that he had been eavesdropping and hadn’t even told them that he had returned. She was pretty close to just marching into his room and letting him hear it, but eventually she decided she wasn’t quite ready for that talk yet. If only there was some machine that would allow them to exchange their thoughts without the actual confrontation… But that was a naive thought, Calypso knew.
Finally, she decided that dwelling on the issues the whole day wouldn’t help anything. Since the Waystation family would get some Christmas guests for the evening, she decided that she should probably change out of her baking attire (a simple t-shirt and sweatpants) that had gotten a bit floury despite the apron that had covered it. Thankful for having taken several outfits from her flat (see, Leo, they were useful for something after all, she thought), she was drawn between blue jeans and a white blouse and a pretty 50ies style red dress she had only recently sewn for herself. It had sleeves that reached her elbows, a ribbon around the waist and a v-shaped neckline. Calypso wondered if the dress was a bit ‘too much’ for a family dinner but she liked how it had ended up looking and felt pretty confident in it. That’s why she ended up picking it instead of the more casual option. Besides, a tiny voice said in Calypso’s head, it didn’t hurt that Leo liked that color...
Tying her hair into a small braid pun and adding a ribbon around it, she was finally happy with her look. Then her gaze fell into the silver bracelet Leo had given to her that was still around her wrist. Briefly, she wondered how he’d feel about seeing it after their earlier incident, but she decided to leave it on. She had kind of expected Leo to give her something silly, like a CD of him singing Never Gonna Give You Up or chili seeds as a joke, but the jewelry box and the bracelet had been very thoughtful. Leo really knew how to surprise her – in a good way – sometimes…
Realizing that she had already been spending over an hour in her guest room, Calypso decided it was time to go back to socialize with her hosts. She heard Georgina’s voice coming from the living room and decided to go check up on her. The young girl was sitting by the piano, singing one of those more modern Christmas songs that she herself wasn’t crazy about, but somehow it sounded a lot more bearable when Georgina performed it. But what really surprised Calypso was Georgina’s pianist. Leo was sitting there next to his adoptive sister and focusing on running his fingers on the instrument. For some reason she hadn’t expected him to be musical and especially not interested in playing Christmas songs (Calypso knew he was more of a rock ‘n roll type of guy). She wasn’t sure what to think of this discovery.
Calypso had always loved music and she had even attempted to learn to play the piano with the help of a nanny for a little while, but when her dad had discovered what they did, he had immediately told them to stop. To this day, Calypso couldn’t understand why; she just assumed that maybe her beloved father hadn’t wanted her to learn something so ‘useless’. Thankfully, her voice wasn’t something her father could take from her so she had kept singing mostly out of spite, and became pretty good. Now she began wondering if Leo would ever mind teaching her to play… that was, if they were able to have a normal conversation again.
Georgina’s song ended and Calypso stepped forward to let the others know she was there, applauding the girl.
“That sounded good!” She encouraged her. “I’m not a fan of Christmas songs but you did well.”
“Thanks, Calie!” Georgina beamed at her. “Leo has told me you can sing too. Can I hear some? Please? Leo can play!”
“I… uh… wasn’t expecting to see you here.” Calypso turned to Leo. “Since when have you been playing the piano?”
Leo ignored Calypso’s first remark and replied: “Since I was a kid. Yeah, I bet you thought I’m more like a drum person or something but it was my mom’s idea I’d try this. Well? Are you gonna sing something?” He asked when Calypso remained quiet.
“I don’t really know that many Christmas songs…” she replied hesitantly. “Georgie, do you have any suggestions?”
“I love Taylor Swift’s songs!” the 9-year-old announced. “Do you know any of them?”
Calypso nearly burst out laughing. “Of course I do! She’s one of my favorite artists. But I thought we were going to sing Christmas songs.”
“Nah, I think I’ve already had enough of them,” Georgina stated. “But TS has made some holiday themed songs as well. Like New Year’s Day. I have the piano sheet for it!” The girl showed her a book she had borrowed from the library.
“You’re a real Swiftie, huh?” Calypso couldn’t help but smile at the girl’s enthusiasm. “But fine, I actually quite like that song so I could sing it.”
Leo had been following the conversation quietly but now he took the book from Georgina and eyed the sheet.
“Let me practice a little; I haven’t even heard this song before so I have no idea how to play it.”
“Sure, take your time,” Calypso said carefully. She was relieved to see that Leo was acting that calmly now despite the morning’s incident but she couldn’t help but wonder if that was just the surface. Surely he couldn’t have just completely forgotten about it? She would have to bring it up at some point, but now was not the time. Even when she attempted to read the lyrics her thoughts kept going back to him.
She was so lost in her thoughts that Leo had to raise his voice before she noticed he had stopped playing. “Hey, did you hear me? I asked if you’re ready.”
“What?” she shook her head. “Sorry. I was just wondering something. But yes, I’m ready now.”
Calypso noticed that Georgina kept looking at them curiously, but for once she didn’t say anything.
“Good. Let’s go,” Leo said in a neutral tone.
As she started singing, the lyrics started sinking into her differently than before. Suddenly she felt like she was the narrator, singing about the aftermath of a party she had attended. Even though Calypso wasn’t big on parties, and the latest one she had been in – the Halloween one – hadn’t gone ideally, when she kept picturing herself among her friends that she had gained during her time in Indianapolis, smiling, carrying their shoes because their feet hurt from the dancing, she felt… happy. Adding to that the image of spending time with Leo cleaning up their home while he made his snarky comments and probably tried to sabotage her cleaning process, she felt warm in a way she hadn’t expected. However, she tried to stop that track of thoughts because she realized what it implied. The narrator of the song was singing about her significant other, and Calypso had decided a long time ago that she shouldn’t get one.
As Leo kept playing, Calypso tried to keep her focus on his fingers running on the keys. For a while it worked; Calypso was amazed by how fast they could move, but then again, she supposed that all those years of building things with his hands really helped him develop that skill. Calypso could spot some stains on his hands from the machines he had handled that would barely leave even with soap, and the under nail area could definitely have used some proper scrubbing, but he wouldn’t have been Leo without those things. She couldn’t imagine him not fiddling with something 24/7. That was one of the reasons she admired him; she valued hard work pretty high and couldn’t imagine being with someone who was just sitting still.
”But I stay when you're lost and I'm scared and you're turning away…”
When Calypso reached that part, she felt chills go down her spine because of how well that line described her and Leo’s current situation. He felt lost because of some past traumas. She was scared of both letting him too close and losing him and everything she had gained since that fall. He had turned away from her and his family already twice that day. But there was hope; maybe, if they managed to finally communicate properly, they’d find a way to even deal with the ‘midnights’.
“Hold on to your memories, they will hold on to you.”
Calypso stopped to think about that line. At first her thoughts went to the badmemories such as the times when she had been living with her father. But when she repeated the line, she understood the song was talking about the good memories that would carry you even in your worst moments. Before she knew it, she was filled with flashbacks. Yelling at Leo after Festus broke her desk. The weird warm feeling after she saw the fixed desk. Casually spending time together; cooking, cleaning, playing, watching shows together… That time when Leo had given her the seeds of her favorite flower… The ‘therapy’ sessions… The Halloween party and the almost kiss after that… the weird tension they’d been having ever since that moment… His smiles and laughs… No matter what would happen, she would always hold those memories close to her heart.
Suddenly, Calypso knew. This wasn’t just some infatuation that would go away with time. She had learned to appreciate Leo’s company more and more, the good and the bad sides, to the point that she was now in love with him. Back in August she had thought that they would probably never get along, but to her surprise they had more in common than she had expected and he had become a big part of her life. Lonely, unsure about their futures, past traumas… that’s what tied them together. And even if she wanted to, she wouldn’t be able to deny that what she had been afraid of had already happened.
“And I will hold onto you.”
Those five simple words made Calypso’s voice crack. With frustration she swept the corner of her eyes quickly and attempted to clear her voice for the last lines of the song.
“Please don’t ever become a stranger whose laugh I could recognize anywhere.”
She looked up from the lyrics with blurry eyes and glanced at the boy with the piano. Some months ago, she had told herself that she wouldn’t let anyone get too close to her. But somehow Leo and all her new friends had just snuck into it, and she couldn’t imagine her life without them. She wanted them to be a permanent part of it, but with so many uncertainties in the future, could she count on it?
“What’s the matter, Cal?” Leo asked when she very clearly had difficulties pronouncing the last few words of the song.
Calypso knew the words she was going to say were probably unfair, but she couldn’t stop herself. The frustrations of that day just demanded to get out. “What’s the matter, Cal?” she mocked him. “I don’t know, Leo. You just… freak out all of a sudden and run away and then you come back and act like nothing happened?! Don’t you understand at all how worried we all are about you?!”
“I…” Leo stammered but didn’t finish his sentence.
“Well? Are you gonna explain yourself?” Calypso asked.
“Listen, you need to understand…”
“Understand what, Leo?”
Calypso waited for a little longer, but when the answer never came, she said: “You know what? Never mind. Clearly I was a fool to think that you care about us… about me the same way I care about you.”
“Calypso…”
Calypso turned her back to him and muttered: “I’m going to see if Jo and Emmie need my help with something. Do not follow me.”
In reality, Calypso withdrew into the closest bathroom and finally let the tears come.

38, CJ/Toby if you feel like it :)
38. “You fainted… straight into my arms. You know, if you wanted my attention you didn’t have to go to such extremes.” CJ Cregg/Toby Ziegler (1.6k words)
“You fainted… straight into my arms. You know, if you wanted my attention you didn’t have to go to such extremes.”
CJ rolled her eyes at him, taking the water from his outstretched hand.
“I did not faint,” she reminded him. “I fell asleep. And if I wanted your attention, I’d have it.”
Toby quirked an eyebrow at her teasing, trying to maintain the playful tone in the room. But he couldn’t hide his expression- it was painfully obvious how he felt. He was worried about her. She hadn’t slept in days, and as much as she tried to hide it, it was obvious to see she wasn’t doing well. He watched her sip the water, pretending not to notice her hand shaking.
“You need to sleep, CJ.”
His voice was soft but firm- taking care of herself was the one thing she couldn’t push to the bottom of her priority list. Not under his watch.
“I’m fine!” she insisted. She set her glass down with a thump, needing her hands to make her point.
“I’m not a child. I can take care of myself.”
“But you don't,” he pointed out.
She picked up her things with a deep sigh, and started towards the door of his apartment. She hated when he treated her like this, like some inept little girl who needed help. She was fine. She was the Chief of Staff to the President, damn it. She had to be fine.
“What, am I wrong?” he called after her.
She paused, not turning around.
“You fell asleep standing up! Then, you fell straight into me. What if you had been in the Sit Room, or a meeting, or-”
“Jesus, Toby, I get it. I get that I’m not handling this job well, that I can’t do it all like you or Josh. But guess what? I’m still the Chief of Staff, whether you like it or not. It’s not your job to take care of me.”
Toby’s eyes were wide and incomprehensive. How had this turned into an argument so quickly? How had she so clearly misunderstood the meaning of what he was saying? How could she believe that he thought those things?
He watched CJ recover from her outburst. All the pent up frustration and all of the exhaustion had burst out of her at once, and he knew she needed a minute. Still, all he wanted to do was wrap her up in his arms and hold her until she fell asleep. But he knew that wasn’t what she needed- well, not right now. For now, she needed reassurance, though she would never admit it. She needed his support, something he had been embarrassingly bad at giving her recently.
“Well, someone needs to.”
She laughed bitterly- “Oh, so I’m a chore.”
“You’re not-”
Toby sighed. There was no reasoning with her when she was like this, especially not about something this sensitive. But he had to try, right?
“I’m not saying you’re not handling the job well. That’s the exact opposite of what I’m saying, and you know that.”
She opened her mouth to say something, but he kept going.
“You’re working too hard, CJ. You’re doing a- a phenomenal job as Chief Of Staff, but that’s all you should be doing! You shouldn’t be dealing with the press, and going down to the Hill, or negotiating. What you have to do is a million times harder than what Leo had to do, and you’re doing it. But you need to delegate, okay? Hire some people, promote some people, I don't know. And, uh-”
His voice was softer now, and surprisingly gentle.
“If you need help, you should ask.”
CJ rubbed her neck, which he knew meant she was stressed. And sore, he bet- he had seen her sleep on her couch too many times in the past week.
He kept going, needing her to understand what he was saying.
“It’s not my job to take care of you. But I do it because I-” he swallowed, looking at the floor.
“Because Leo had a heart attack, and Josh got shot, and Donna got blown up, and the President has MS.”
He wasn’t sure how to say it in a way that made sense. All he knew was that everyone had left, everyone had gotten hurt- except them. She couldn’t leave him too. He wouldn’t let her.
When Toby looked back up, CJ was staring at him.
“Leo had a heart attack because he was an addict-”
“Leo had a heart attack because he didn't sleep for six years!”
Her eyes glistened as he yelled, and for a minute he was worried he had scared her. Then CJ walked back over to him, placing her hand on his cheek. Her lips were pressed tightly together and her hand was cold. He let himself wonder for a moment if he should be worried about that, before remembering that they lived in DC and it was December.
“Okay. I’ll sleep.”
He knew she was saying more than that, that those words meant that she was listening to him. But he couldn’t resist.
“And you’ll drink more water? And not that crappy, calorie infested coffee you make Charlie get you. Actual water.”
She huffed, moving her hand from his cheek.
“Yes, Dad, I’ll eat my vegetables.”
He tried to glare at her, but couldn’t manage it. CJ smiled at him, looking happier than he’d seen her in weeks.
“Can I stay here tonight?”
Her voice was soft, like she actually thought he was going to say no.
“Just so, you know, you won’t have to install secret cameras in my apartment to make sure I’m sleeping.”
He ignored the dig, knowing she was just nervous about asking him. They’d been doing this, whatever this was, with each other for so long, Toby would think it shouldn’t feel awkward anymore. But that wasn’t how it worked, and he knew it. And she wasn’t propositioning him, or asking him for anything- she was exhausted.
Toby nodded quickly- “Go get some clothes. You know where everything is, right?”
She didn't bother to answer, already halfway to the bathroom.
He changed quickly before grabbing a few pillows and sheets, and heading to the couch. A few minutes later, CJ waltzed out of the bathroom in a towel, not noticing- or caring- about his reaction.
“Why are you making up the couch there, honey?”
He ignored the nickname and responded, pointedly looking away from her body.
“I’m going to sleep here. And didn't I say you could grab some clothes?”
She smiled teasingly. “Can’t restrain yourself?”
“Claudia Jean, we both know I’ve seen you in outfits less conducive to restraint,” he scoffed.
She swatted at him, walking away- presumably to steal some of his clothes. She came back in a Berkeley shirt and his boxer shorts, hair up in a knot. He felt himself staring, but couldn’t seem to look away. She raised her eyebrows at his reaction.
“That’s not mine,” he noted. “You keep old college shirts in my closet?”
CJ nodded amusedly, like she was waiting for him to say something she didn’t already know.
Toby wondered if she enjoyed driving him crazy. The answer was probably yes, but he didn’t dare ask- he was too worried he would grab her mid-sentence and kiss the life out of her.
He cleared his throat. “Good night.”
He walked over and gave her a kiss on the cheek, too intimate to be casual but too chaste to be anything like what he wanted to do. As he was turning to leave, she grabbed his arm.
“Jeez, CJ, what?”
“Where are you going?” she asked simply.
“Release your death grip on my arm, then I’ll tell you!”
She let go abruptly, a sheepish smile on her face.
“Sorry. Old habits,” she trailed off.
Toby shook his arm out. “I feel bad for your brothers,” he muttered.
She cocked an eyebrow at him, reminding him wordlessly of the original question.
He gestured lamely to the couch. “I told you, I’m sleeping on the couch.”
CJ sighed deeply, a “why do I put up with this man” kind of sigh that Toby knew well.
“You idiot, why would I sleep in your bed?”
He blinked at her. “I mean, you’ve slept in it before. I figured you wouldn’t want the couch-”
He was cut off as she grabbed his arm again, dragged him to the bedroom. She ignored his cries of pain- which, to be fair, were fake. For the most part.
Toby shifted awkwardly, pretending to think over the decision.
“CJ, I don't know if I feel comfortable being in bed with my boss- hey!”
Toby ducked to avoid the pillow hurtling towards him.
“Come here,” CJ groaned. “I’m sleeping in a bed for the first time this week, don't ruin this for me.”
“This week? CJ!”
His protests were muffled by her lips on his, kissing him deeply. CJ knotted her fingers in his ratty t-shirt, pulling him closer. She savored the short kiss, the first one they’d shared in a while. God, she’d missed having him this close to her. She leaned back with a satisfied expression on her face.
“Good night,” she said firmly.
“Good night,” Toby replied, still dazed.
He’d known this woman for as long as he could remember, but somehow she still managed to amaze him. He snuck a look at her- sprawled next to him, her legs intertwined with his. She would steal all the blankets and take up half the bed, just like always, but he didn’t care. Toby took a deep breath, trying to commit this moment to memory. He didn't get these moments of peace often- neither of them did. He’d make this one last as long as he could.

It Started with the Milk: Chapter 4 - Out of
Leo screamed into his pillow. It was noon and he hadn’t gotten a minute of rest. He had zoned out once or twice, but nothing worthy of the name ‘sleep’ occurred in the 8 hours he had laid there. He had tried everything. Turning, tossing, blanket, no blanket, a trip to the bathroom, sit ups, boring reading, warm milk (he didn’t need anymore tea). Nothing had worked.
He flipped back over onto his shell and stared at the bottom of the shelves above his bed. Then sighed and pulled his pillow over his face, maybe if he suffocated himself he could catch an hour or two. Maybe he could suffocate himself, and listen to music at the same time, that way he could blink out of consciousness to the sound of Enya. With one hand he started patting around for his phone, when he couldn’t find it blindly he sat up and scanned the room. He checked under his blanket and pillow, and then checked the shelving above his bed. Nothing. Forget music, how was he supposed to get his social media fix if he didn’t have his phone? He considered just leaving his room for a moment but bypassed the thought by selecting a random magazine from his book shelf. With a quick flip he opened it to a random page and started reading an article about the physics associated with throwing ‘the perfect basket’. He was bored within two sentences.
Leo opened the curtain to his room, “Hey! Has anyone seen my phone?” The common space was dim, only the christmas lights above the vert ramp provided any sort of lighting. Leo stepped into the center of the room. He scanned briefly, listening for any indication that his brothers were home. “Raph, Mikey? Dad?” No response. He yawned and stretched, trying to rub some of the irritation out of his eyes.
Leo checked the living room first, Dad’s projector was off, and his seat was empty (both of these being very rare occurrences.) The only remnants of someone being in the kitchen was the stack of dirty dishes in the sink, the turtle tank was still in the garage, but nobody was in it, and the gaming room was untouched. Leo even mustered up the courage to check the bedrooms. All empty. Leo reentered the common room and dragged his hand across the vert-ramp as he passed it, placing himself back into the center of the room as the disturbing feeling of anxiety crept in. He spoke quietly to himself, “where is everybody?”
“They went to the store.” Leo jumped and whipped around. Donnie was sitting on the ledge of the second floor idly swinging his legs as he watched Leo from above. “They won’t be back for a while.”
Leo’s throat was dry, making his reply sound choked. “Oh.” He looked towards his bedroom, wondering why he even left it in the first place. “They left in the middle of the day?”
“Yeah,” Donnie leaned back in his seat, stretching his back until there was a pop. “Dad said something about this being the best time of the day to shop.”
Leo grimaced at the thought, Dad probably shaved himself again and now Mikey and Raph were stuck with him and his “cool-kid” outfit. There was an awkward beat of silence and Leo looked back to his room. The thought of being alone in the house with Donnie was making him feel a sense of dread in his guts, maybe he could slip out for the day and go skating again, just until Dad and his other two brothers got home, or maybe he could meet up with them? Leo could also just be on the topside long enough for this feeling to go away, ‘nothing like some fresh air,’ he thought. He could always visit Albearto land. They were pretty crowd-free during the mid-day, especially considering the dreary weather,  and they didn’t mind the “costumes”. Leo took a deep breath in and clapped his hands together.  “Well… good to know,” he took a side step back in the direction of his room, he’d just grab his hoodie and his board, he’d forget about the phone for now (god forgive him), and he’d be back before in an hour or two when everybody else was home, “catch ya’ later!”
“Now, hold on,” Donnie jumped down from the second floor, “what particular activities do you have scheduled for today, oh, brother of mine?”
“Ha ha, well…” come on, think of something, “I was gonna hit up Albearto Land for a couple of hours, y’know... just hang out, grab some funnel cake-”
Donnie interjected with an arm around Leo’s shoulder. “I absolutely love funnel cake! Let’s go together. We can take the tank.”
“Aw, you don’t have to do that…” Donnie’s face was too close and not cheery enough to ease the ball that formed in Leo’s intestines, “I know you're super busy, with the surprise and everything.”
“For you, and funnel cake?” Donnie looked away thoughtfully, “it can wait.”
A shudder ripped through him, Leo tried slipping out from under Donnie’s arm, there was a moment where Donnie tightened his grip before letting him go. Leo pushed off and looked back towards his room, he didn’t mean for his eyes to fall on his sword, but they did. Why did he want it in his hands so badly right now? He tore away his gaze and focussed back on Donnie. “No thanks.”
Donnie gave a confused chuckle. “No thanks to what?”
Leo was blunt now, “I don’t really feel like hanging out with you today,” he turned away as he began walking again.
“Why not?” Donnie gave an aggravated huff, “we haven’t hung out enough, just us two.” He put his hands up defensively and circled Leo to get closer. “How did you put it? The “Cool Colors?””
Leo twitched at that. He tried closing the curtain behind him but Donnie ripped it back open,he was in his space now and the discomfort was making Leo’s skin crawl.
“C’mon Leo,” he whined, “we could hit up ‘Run of the Mill’ on our way there, I know you love their pizza.”
Leonardo ignored the quiet grumble in his stomach at the mention of Hueso’s, “I’m not hungry right now,” he pulled his board from the wall and looked back at his sword. Should he take it with him? “Plus, I love all pizza… Donnie.” The name didn’t feel right on his tongue. Leo clipped his belt on and attached his sword, he immediately felt a wash of relief ease his senses when he felt the pressure of it against his shell. Now he just needed to get out of here.
“You’re passing up Run of the Mill?” Donnie chuckled again, “you must really not be feeling good.” Donnie leaned against the door of Leo’s room and tilted his head with concern. “Been getting enough sleep?” There was something smug in his voice and Leonardo fought a scowl.
Leo only grumbled as he finished slipping on his hoodie. “Bye.”
“Wait, what was that about your phone earlier? I could help you find it.”
“I don’t need it.” He bumped shoulders with Donnie on his way out of his room.
“No, no, here,” Donatello whipped out his own phone and quickly typed, “I’ll just call it right now.”
“It’s on vibrate,” Leo growled, “and I said I don’t need it!” It wasn’t about the phone, he just didn’t want to be in the house with Donnie any longer.
Purple grabbed his shoulder and pulled him back. “It’s ringing, just hang out for a minute,” he cooed.
Leo wanted to growl, to push him off, or just shout, but then he heard the loud vibration of his cell coming from inside his room.
“Well, whaddya know!” Donnie smiled and let go of Leo. “It’s right there in your room!”
Donnie looked to Leo expectantly. Leo felt the tension rise as neither of them said anything. The sound of Leo’s phone repeated itself and Leonardo glanced towards his room, and then back to Donnie who stood behind him looking coy. ‘Just leave, now.’ The small voice inside of him chastised him for still being here, at home, with Donnie. But… If it was right there… why not just grab it and go? The vibrations stopped and Donnie’s expression faltered for a moment.
“Here.” Donnie stretched his phone out to Leo, “find your phone and we’ll head to Albearto’s together, I bet I can beat more of their games than you.” Donatello’s teasing sounded softly sincere, but Blue still frowned. Leo wanted to argue. He did not want to go anywhere with him. He didn’t want to go to Albearto’s with him, he didn’t want to go to Hueso’s with him, he didn’t want to be in the tank with him, and he didn’t want to be home with him! Leo’s whole body was screaming for him to leave, just ditch the phone, leave it, you don’t need it, just leave it! He took the phone from Donnie’s hand and quickly typed in his own number.
The vibrations started again and Leo tentatively re-entered his room. Leo paused in the doorway. The noise was coming from under his bed. That’s right! He suddenly remembered last night, he remembered tossing his phone across the sheets and hearing it hit the floor. He looked towards Donnie again, who turned away when Leo looked at him, before getting down on his hands and knees. Leo could see that it was near the foot of the bed, vibrating with Donnie’s picture illuminating on the screen. Leo hung up Donnie’s phone and reached, quickly feeling the cool case of his own phone under his finger pads. Leo grasped it and pulled it out, sighing with relief as he slipped it in his hoodie pocket.
Leo jolted when Donnie’s phone went off. A quick check of the screen told him it was April.
He slid the green phone button to the left, “Why hello-”
“Donnie!” April shouted from across the speaker, causing Leo to flinch and pull the receiver away from his ear. “Where are you?”
“Uh, sorry April,” he hesitated as he stumbled up to his feet. “This is Leo.”
“Where. Is. Donnie!” She was obviously furious. Behind her Leo could hear something animal. “I told him about this a week ago!”
Leo stood up in confusion. “What do you mean, April… where are you?”
“I’m in the mystic city,” the sound of something similar to a crowing rooster sounded behind the call, “Mayhem needed to go to the vet and Donnie was supposed to pick me up an hour ago!”
“What?” Leo was confused, “What’s wrong with Mayhem?”
April continued, “Donnie shouldn’t have taken my bike if he was gonna take two weeks to “improve” it! I get it, a simple bike is a little old fashioned but two weeks?!”
“Where are you in the city?” He heard April muffle the call as she asked someone the exact address, Leo turned to see Donnie standing on the threshold of his room. The center room was dim, but Leo’s room was dimmer. The light behind Donatello painted him into a hauntingly solemn figure as he stood motionless in Leo’s doorway. Leo heard April on the other end but didn’t look away from Donnie. “Sorry, what was that?
She sighed into the receiver, “I said, I’m under Central Park zoo.”
That was a good six miles away from where Leo was now, he suppressed a yawn as he spoke softly into the receiver, “is Sunita available, she’s closer.”
“No!” April shouted across the phone again, “Sunita is the one that got me here and she can’t pick me up because she’s at an event with her Dad, Donnie was supposed to be here! He promised!”
‘Well, that settles it then,’ Leo thought. He replied quickly as he moved to exit his room, “I’ll come get you.”  Donnie’s fists clenched tightly and he stared at the phone in Leo’s hand as he passed. Leo ignored it but quickened his pace.
April sighed audibly. “Fine, but please get here quickly. For a city that’s underground they sure do get a lot of rainfall.”
“K, I’ll be there in a ‘sec.” He heard the line cut and the phone was pulled out of his hand. Leo turned to see Donnie smiling again, motioning towards the garage.
“Ready to go?”
Leo paused, confused. “Go…?”
“Albearto Land, remember?” Donnie laughed and grabbed Leo by the wrist. Leo felt a shiver crawl up his arm as Donnie bagan to pull him.
“Didn’t you hear me on the phone?” Leo shrugged Donnie’s hand off and backed up a step, rubbing the skin where Donnie had touched him trying to get rid of the feeling.“That was April.”
“So?”
So. So? “So… she said that you were supposed to pick her up today?”
Donnie hummed as he positioned his hands on his hips, “y’know… now that you mention it, she did say something about, um…” He hummed again with a smile, “sorry, I don’t remember.”
Leo stood stupefied before turning around. “I’ll see you later Donnie, I’m going to go get April.” “Wait,” he heard Donnie walk after him, “she’ll be fine, let’s just head out and she can just get a cab or something.” Purple’s voice was getting more impatient the more Leo walked.
“She’ll be fine, Leo, come on.”
Leo’s fists clenched and he felt a heat in his stomach as he walked faster. Flipping his hood on, he growled, “Donnie… shut up.”
Donatello paused and stopped, but only for a moment before he caught back up with Blue to put a hand on his shoulder, “What is wrong with you?”
“What’s wrong with me?” Leo scoffed under his breath before he raised into a roar, “what’s wrong with you?!”
“What-”
“You all of a sudden want to spend time with me?” Leo spun around, facing Donnie and quickly closing the distance to point a finger in his chest. “And you ditched April?! That’s not the Donnie I know! So what’s your game?” He kept going, the weight in his tummy was fuel for the aggression that started pouring out of him, “i’ll admit it, the coffee was no big deal, but the back-wash, the staring, Shelldon? So what is it Donnie!” He screamed, flattening his hand against Purples chest but resisted pushing him. “What is wrong with you?!”
“Excuse me?” Donnie’s face darkened and Leo shivered under the icy stare. Leo moved to take a step back but Donnie grabbed him by the collar of his hoodie, pulling him back in close. “We’re brothers, right?”
Leo clasped onto Donnie’s wrist but it was set to an iron grip. Leo’s heart rate began to elevate and he could feel his own pulse through his throat. Donnie smiled.
“Brothers spend time together, right?”
“Donnie-” Leo’s hoodie squeezed around his throat as Donnie’s grip tightened.
“I just wanted to spend some time with you, Leo.” Donnie took a step back and Leo stumbled after him, trapped in this oddly strong grip that his twin held him in. “I’m always just shoving you off, and I’m sorry about that. I’m just trying to make it up to you.” He sounded sympathetic but his face was jeered into something menacing and mischievous.
“Let go, Don,” Leo gripped tighter on Donnie’s wrist, desperately trying to back up and pull away. The fire that was in his stomach was just petrified nausea now, screaming at him for not leaving when he had the chance.
Donatello continued, “is that so much to ask for?” Donnie tilted his head as he observed Leo. Leo was panting now, feeling a shake in his whole body as he desperately wanted to get away. Donnie’s expression flatlined, switching over to an expression of exhausted irritation and he sighed. “Ah, who am I kidding... you are the skeptical one of the family.” Donnie reached behind himself with his free hand and Leo’s vision shook as the hand on his Hoodie switched to his neck. “Let’s get this over with.”
Leo’s fist slammed into Donnie’s throat.
Donnie’s grip immediately released and he doubled over, clutching his airway as he backed away. Two black beads clattered to the floor but Leo ignored them for now.
Despite the chills, Leo immediately regretted his action, taking Donie by the shoulders as he began a coughing fit. “Donnie, I’m so sorry-” Donnie began retching. Leo moved behind Donnie, grasping him by the waist as he attempted to drag him to the edge of the common room so he could puke in the exposed water behind the vert ramp. Donnie grasped Leo by the sleeves, digging his heels into the concrete as he puked up liquid the color of tar.
Donnie slowly looked over his shoulder at Leo, and a long black mass slivered from his mouth over his shoulder.
Leo wasn’t able to process the elbow in his face until after he had staggered backwards. He brought his hands up to his face but  didn’t cover his eyes, watching Donnie as he stood up straight. It was like a snake, or a tentacle, black and dripping with whatever was pooled on the floor. It slowly retracted itself, tracing over Donnie’s cheek as it slid through his teeth. Donatello shut his mouth with an audible ‘click’ and cracked his neck as he turned towards Leo. Donnie hummed, no, It hummed, and Leo finally remembered to breathe. Donnie’s bo expanded in Its hand and It took a step forward, spinning the tool theatrically as It took balanced steps around Leo.
Leo’s hands shook as he unsheathed his sword from under his hoodie, gripping the handle so tight his knuckles cramped. He took a step back for every step that It took towards him. Leo’s voice was shaky, almost as shaky as the pulse that he felt in his head and his heart, “what are you?”
It wasn't painting faces anymore. It’s expression was fixed into something both dark and dreamy as it stared Leo down. With a click of it’s tongue, It gave it’s answer with a wicked smile. “I’m Donnie.” Then It lunged.

Hi, I really like your fics and was hoping you could write for Steven Hyde from That 70's Show with 10/Angst and 2/Kisses if you find the time to? Thanks, I enjoyed all your fics :)
Homecoming date - Steven Hyde X reader
Tumblr media
a\n: it’s short but i really like it so i hope you like it too. i think i really got some show-like moments and i love when fanfics feel like an episode of the show.
trigger warnings: cursing, weed mentioning.
words count: 1122
10: “I’m worried about you”
2: Kiss on the forehead
"Steven!" I called, running down the basement stairs. "Eric! Did you see Steven?" I ask. "Who's Steven? Are you cheating on Hyde" Kelso asks. "Hyde is Steven, you brainless creature" Donna sighs. "no, i haven't seen him, why?" Eric asks. "I just.. we had a fight earlier because I said yes when Buddy asked I'd go to homecoming with him, and-" "so you are cheating on Hyde!" Kelso barges in. "Buddy is gay" Eric reminds him. "and he's (y\n)'s best friend since kindergarten" Donna adds, "plus Steven doesn’t even like homecoming, why is he getting so pressed over that?".
"I don't know" I reply, "shit. He's not at the hub, he's not here, he's not at The Photohut…". "Did you try the water tower?" Donna tries to help, "The memories of Kelso screaming as he falls from there makes him happy". "good thinking Donna, he does enjoy Kelso's pain" I say, and het out of the basement to look for my boyfriend of two months.
I get to the water tower, and in did, Steven was sitting up there, smoking a blunt. I usually hate heights, but maybe if I just won't look down, I can.. shit, this is really high. I take a deep breath and focus, finally getting to the top of the water tower. "hey, Steven" I say. "what do you want?" he sighs, letting the smoke out of his mouth. "Steven, I've been looking for you" I say. Sitting beside him. his feet were dangling off the edge, but I kept mine crossed. "really? Cause it seems like you are more worried about your matching outfits with Buddy for your date" he spits out, bitter.
"Hyde, he is gay, how many times need I remind you that? He had a crush on Eric" I sigh. "well, apparently he has a thing for Formans!" Steven calls. "STEVEN" I yell, "why do you even care? You literally said you would never go to homecoming with me!". "yeah, that doesn't mean you should go with some other guy!" he calls back, and I laugh sadly. "first of all, Steven, Buddy is not some guy, he's my best friend, and second of all, I'm not going to sit at home and watch another re-run of The Brady Bunch just cause you like to be different and despise everything that's fun! Honestly, I'm worried about you with your stupid little guy-brain that is so incapable of understanding anything that's not weed, your stupid Zeppelin-" "-hey-" "or beer! Fuck you, Steven Hyde" I say, and with that I leave. "what?" I can hear Steven sigh, "(y\n)! shit".
Homecoming evening arrives, and I put on the dress I got with Buddy. It was in a beautiful (f\c) dress that matched his (f\c) suit. The dress was just perfect, and I never felt as beautiful. Steven and I haven't talked since that day at the water tower. Did I fuck up?No. this is not my fault Steven has no braincells. If he wants to be an asshole, he can have fun with… I don't know, Leo? Eric, Donna, Kelso and Jackie – meaning all his friends, are right here dancing, and he's probably smoking weed alone.
I wonder if he stole Eric's dolls and sat them at the circle like he did that one time he got high and wanted to be in a circle while we were all busy. It was hilarious to walk in on him talking to a G. I. Joe about how there's a car that runs on water. He almost quit smoking after that incident. Almost.
"hey, (y\n), come dance with me!" Buddy says, tugging on my shoulder. "look, I know the a-hole you call a boyfriend is acting like an a-hole, which is very surprising, considering the fact he has been an a-hole for years, but-" he tries to drag me to the dance floor. "the thing is, Buddy, I'm not even sure he's my boyfriend anymore" I sigh. "that's his loss, sis, now come here and shake your sadness off, come on" he insists, and I give in.
We dance together, and slowly my mood lifts. "you're the dancing queen, young and sweet only 17" Buddy sings along horribly, making me laugh. "thank Buddy, you're the best best friend I can ever ask for" I smile. "I know, I'm kind of amazing" he said, taking my hand to spin me around. "hey, Buddy, can I have my girl for a sec?" a familiar voice says, and I can barley hear him over the music. Buddy laughs. "yeah, appreciate the pun-" "what pun?" "but you are an a-hole, and I don't want you near my best friend" Buddy says, refusing to leave my side. "well, that's not your choice to make, (y\n)?" our eyes finally meet, and he offers me his hand. "Buddy, give us a sec, okay?" I say and take Steven's hand. Buddy sighs but leave us alone.
"I can't believe I'm dancing to ABBA for someone" Steven sighs, "but I fucked up completely". "you're telling me?" I say, raising my eyebrow. He let out a small, sad, laugh. "yeah, I think you already know that. I was just... look, you are my girl and I don't want you dancing with someone else, what does that say about me?" he explained. "Well, you wouldn't dance with me and I like dancing" I say, "and it's not like Buddy's an actual threat, you know? I'd get it if I would go with Kelso, or even Fez, but Buddy?" I sigh, "the guy who was in love with my brother?".
"I know, I know, I just… not everyone knows that-" "hey, Samantha, what are your thoughts on Buddy?" I ask the blond dancing close enough. "cute, too bad he's gay" she says. I turn back to Hyde, raising my eyebrows. "that's just one perso-" "hey, Dean, I heard Buddy has a crush on someone" I cut Steven off once again to prove his stupidity. "really? Who's the lucky guy?" Dean asks, and I whisper in his ear the truth. He rushes off to find Buddy. These two needed to get together forever ago.
"okay, fine, you proved your point. I get it, I'm stupid. How can I make this up for you?" he asks. "go to prom with me" I say, "and dance with me not one, but 2 ABBA songs" I say. He looks upset but agrees anyway. He kisses me on the forehead, "well, this one counts, right?"  he asks. "3 ABBA songs" "but-" "4" "god, you're annoying". Before I get to raise it to 5, he leans down and our lips connect. "fine, back to 2, but you're matching your tie to my dress" I offer. "sold" he smiles, and leans back in.

Hushed voices and hurried footsteps can be heard throughout the halls of Krakenburg Castle. It was still early in the morning when the young (princess/prince) woke up from their slumber. They rub their eyes as they tried to get rid of their sleepiness. They blink a bit before lowering their hands and yawning. “What’s with all those noises?” [Y/N] muttered, slightly annoyed at the noise for waking them up.
Then the door flung open abruptly, making the poor royal (princess/prince) jump in surprise. They look over at the door, only to smile at the familiar sight of her sibling. “Sister!” [Y/N] cheerfully exclaimed as they hurriedly got out to bed to embrace her purple-haired sister. Camilla chuckled as she drop down to her knees to hug her younger sister. “Hello, dear (sister/brother). I see you’re already awake.” Camilla said in her sultry voice while running her fingers through [Y/N]’s hair.
[Y/N] pouts in response. “Because it’s so noise, sister.” Camilla only chuckles as she puts her hand under [Y/N]’s bottom and stand up along with her sibling, effectively carrying them. [Y/N] gasp as they hug Camilla tighter, afraid to fall. Camilla chuckles once more as she walks towards the (princess/prince) bed. “Maybe because they are busy, dear (sister/brother).” Camilla said as she puts down [Y/N] on the bed.
“Busy with what, sister?” [Y/N] asked as they watch her go to their closet and open it, revealing their set of clothes. Camilla hums in response as she picks up clothes and inspecting them. “Oh? You don’t know, dear?” Camilla twirls the clothing around before letting out a smile and nodding to herself. She closed the doors of the closet and walks over to [Y/N].
[Y/N] looks at her in wonder. “Why? Is there something I should know of?” Then their gaze fell down to the clothing Camilla has in her hands. Their brows rising in surprise. “And am I going to wear that?” The clothing she has is one of their favorites, and they only wear it for special occasions. For Camilla to pick this outfit means something is happening today. They look at her only to see amusement dancing in her eyes and lips.
“You really don’t know, [Y/N]?” Camilla chimed, an innocent smile still present on her face. [Y/N] thought about it a bit more, trying to recall what is so special about today before shaking their head. Instead of a disappointed sigh that [Y/N] was expecting, Camilla chuckles. [Y/N] blinks at her, confused at their sister’s behavior. “Oh! This is marvelous!” Camilla laughed.
Camilla calms down after a while, coughing a bit before smiling ever-so-gently at her youngest sibling. “Forgive me, (sister/brother). But I must go now. Brother Xander is requesting my presence today. You better clean up now.” Camilla instructed as she calmly starts to walk towards the door. [Y/N] following her movement. She opens the door, and before she’s fully out. She looks at her sibling over her shoulder. “See you later, [Y/N].” And with that, she closes the door with a click of the knob.
[Y/N] stares at the door for a couple of minutes before releasing a sigh. “Why is sister acting so weird today?” [Y/N] wondered out aloud before shrugging it off and started getting ready for the day.
——
“Brother!” [Y/N] called when they saw Leo’s familiar back on their way to the kitchen. They noticed Leo’s sudden tense when they called out to him, and how hesitant to turn towards them. He looks down to [Y/N] with a weak and wry smile on his face, but they noticed Leo’s hands behind him, hiding something from them. “(S-Sister/B-Brother)! What a surprise!” [Y/N]’s frown went deeper as they crossed their arms in front of their chest. “Why so tense, brother?”
Leo’s eyes weren’t looking directly at theirs, which made the young (princess/prince) of Nohr suspicious. “I.. I’m not sure what you’re talking about, [Y/N].” Leo’s acting weird, Camilla’s acting weird, what’s next? That horses can fly now? (Well there’s pegasus but that’s besides the point). [Y/N] huffs while crossing their arms in front of them. “Why are you and sister Camilla acting weird this early in the morning? What is today that I should know of?” [Y/N] is determined to find out why.
Leo was sweating while looking away from the burning gaze of his young sibling. He looks pale. He opens his mouth to say something but someone cuts him off before he could utter a word. “Prince Leo, Prince Xander is requesting your presence.” A familiar sultry voice said as both siblings turn their head to meet a smirking white-haired retainer of Leo’s. “Niles!” Both siblings exclaimed in surprise. Niles rolled his eyes, whether playfully or not, [Y/N] couldn’t tell.
“Yes. My name is Niles.” Niles said dryly, sarcasm dripping from his mouth. “Also, haven’t you heard what I said? Prince Xander is requesting you, Prince Leo.” Leo raise a brow at this, looking confuse at what Niles is saying. “But why would--” “Immediately.” Niles interrupted with a slight glare and scowl on his face. Leo’s confused face shift to realization as he nodded his head swiftly. “Very well.”
He then turns to a very confused [Y/N] and slightly bowed his head. “Excuse me, dear (sister/brother), but I must go. Have a good day.” And with that, both Leo and Niles started to walk away, but not before Niles giving you a wink. [Y/N] stare at their retreating figures, who seem to be fighting about something, as they walk towards wherever Xander is.
[Y/N]’s frown went deeper, almost like a scowl, with furrowed brows and slight pout on her mouth. “What is today?” She asked in exasperation as she continued her way towards the kitchen.
——
“(Princess/Prince) [Y/N]!” [Y/N] jumped at the sudden shout as they swiftly turned around to meet one of Xander’s retainer, Laslow. He was running towards them and skidded to stop just before he could land on them. He was huffing and sweating profusely, like he ran from Hoshido to [Y/N]’s front. [Y/N] tilted their head slightly at the sudden appearance of the flirt. “What is it, Laslow?”
Laslow took a deep breath after regaining his usual breathing and lets out a gentle smile to the young Nohr sibling. “Princess Elise and Princess Corin wants to eat with you in the garden, they are requesting you, mi(lady/lord),” He explained while putting one hand on his hip. [Y/N]’s eyes widened at what the retainer said as their eyes began to sparkle. “Sister Corrin is here?!” Laslow internally melted at the sight of [Y/N]’s eyes sparkling. He laughs at what they said as he nodded his head.
“Yes, your father agreed for Princess Corrin to come here.” [Y/N]’s excited smile faltered a bit at this revelation. Laslow noticed this as he think of what he previously said before his eyes widened at his accidental slip. “Father?” King Garon rarely lets Corrin out of that fortress. Usually they were the one visiting her, not the other way around. And yet now, Corrin was allowed to visit them in the Castle of Krakenburg. This made [Y/N] even more suspicious of the sudden arrival of her dear sister. “But why would Father allow sister Corrin to come her on her own?”
Laslow nervously laugh as he cough behind his hand. “I-I believe they are still awaiting for your arrival, (Princess/Prince) [Y/N].” [Y/N] snapped to him as they sigh and smiled at him. “Whatever his reason may be, I guess I can entertain them. Take me to where they are.” [Y/N] ordered as Laslow excitedly nodded his head, internally sighing in relief that his head would stay intact, for now.

“Sisters.. may I ask a question?” [Y/N] asked as they sip on their tea. They were currently outside in the garden. They were sitting in a ‘Y’-shape, Elise and Corrin on the two end. They were accompanied by Jakob, Silas, Kaze and servants of the Castle. The two female sisters hummed in response as Corrin nodded her head, beckoning for the (princess/prince) to continue. [Y/N] scowl as they set down their teacup to the saucer.
“Why is everyone acting so weird today?” They asked as both Corrin and Elise flinch at her question. This goes not unnoticed by the [H/C]-haired (girl/boy), which made her scowl deeper. “See.. even you two are acting weird.” [Y/N] sighed as she trace the teacup’s opening with her index finger. Both sisters look at each other for a while before turning to their sibling.
“You’ll find out soon enough, dear (sister/brother).” Corrin said as vague as possible. Elise happily giggles behind her hands. [Y/N] looks at them, looking like a confuse puppy. “Yes! You just need to be patient, (sister/brother)!” Elise cheered, her cheerful smile still present on her face. [Y/N] sighed before letting out a smile, deciding to trust her sisters on this.
Jakob, Silas and Kaze was watching their interaction with an equal excited grins on their face. They turn to one another, having one thought in mind. “They are so cute together.”
[][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][]
“(Princess/Prince) [Y/N]? Are you in there?” [Y/N] looks up when they heard someone knocking and calling them from the outside. [Y/N] closes the book they were reading and answered back. “Yes! I’m here! Who’s there?” They could hear shuffling noises from the outside. “It’s me, Xander.” [Y/N]’s eyes widened at who it was. They look out to see the night still present as ever, but it was strange for Xander to be here.
“May I come in?” [Y/N] snapped their head back to the door as they said yes. The door slowly open to reveal the Crown Prince in his fullest glory. He smiled at the sight of his youngest sibling sitting on their bed. “My.. you look (beautiful/handsome) as ever, dear (sister/brother).” Xander complimented. [Y/N] blushed lightly, as they smiled brightly at their older brother. “Thanks, brother! But, don’t mind me asking, what’re you doing here?”
Xander only smiled at them, which made [Y/N] confused. “I’m here to escort you to the ballroom.” [Y/N] blinks at what he said. “Ballroom? Wha--” “Shall we, dear (sister/brother)?” Xander holds out his hand towards the young (princess/prince). [Y/N] decided to just go along with him as they hold Xander’s hand. Xander squeezes their hand as he leads them to the ballroom.
[][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][]
“Go on, [Y/N]. Open the door.” Xander encouraged as [Y/N] looks at him, confused and scared on what’s in store beyond this huge doors. “Are you not going to follow me inside, brother?” [Y/N]’s small voice squeak out. Xander merrily laughed as he ruffled his youngest sibling’s hair, which made them pout. “Don’t worry, (sister/brother). If there’s danger, I’ll protect you.” [Y/N] slowly nodded their head as they face towards the door once more.
They took a deep breath before pushing open the door, only to be greeted by smiling faces of their siblings, retainers and servants and balloons. [Y/N] stand there with mouth agape and eyes widened at the sight of the ballroom. The siblings noticed this and giggled at their awestruck sibling. Someone began counting down and they shouted,
“Happy Birthday, [Y/N]!”

From a little prank to true love (part 3)
I think this will be the last part? I’m not so sure since there’s still so much to write... Maybe not but the fourth part should be the last one if this one isn’t. And again I read another story like this from @thyladyanput so this is just a little different.
Watching Jasmine training is amazing to Felix, all the flips and tricks she knew made him love her even more than he did before as he desired to know more about her... And this might just help with that little part, to his surprise she often smiled to him when she had the chance to do so making him faintly blush at her but still keep watching them training, on the other hand... Lila hated seeing Marinette there as she held a baby in her arms, she should be the one with a child! She should be in a relationship! SHE SHOULD BE THE ONE SOON GETTING MARRIED!!
Lila took a breath to calm herself, now wasn’t the time to get angry, right now she had work to do and that was to make sure Alya believed her and Jasmine was ruined no matter what happens, but to do that she had to get a moment with the girl she got expelled from there school, when training was over Jas walked over to Felix “What did you think? Most of the time it’s a little more then this but since we had guests we had to tone it down a bit” she explained making Felix nod in understanding “it’s amazing how well you fight like that” he said making her smile and giggle “Well of course! I need to be ready to fight if I want to protect others” she said and that confused Lila.
“That’s right! Even if you no longer protect Paris from Hawk Moth... I know you’ll find a new partner soon Jas” Kagami said as then what looked to be a dragon appeared on Kagami’s shoulder “Once i’m fully healed, I swear MultiMouse will help!” Mari said as then a little mouse creature landed on her head “Thanks you two! I couldn’t have asked for a better team” Jas said... As a ladybug kwami flew beside her head and it clicked to Adrien that Jasmine is actually Ladybug, this made so much sense behind her actions... But not why she took his ring and vanished like she did two years ago “Anyways, let’s go eat” she said making them all nod and move to do so.
Adrien watched as Jasmine ate next to Felix, he wished it was him beside her instead... Alya hated the fact that Jasmine hid something from her like that!? She was Rena Rouge for crying out loud! What kind of person does that!? She was about to speak “How are the wedding plans?” Felix asked making Raph look away as Kagami giggled “Were almost finished, soon will be getting married” she said as she then took Raphael’s hand making Mari smile “You guys are going to be so happy I just know it!” Mari said making Jas nod as Raph faintly blushed... And then smirked towards his sister “What about ya? When are ya gonna get married?” he said making her blush before shouting “When someone I love asks me to marry them!” making Adrien blush.
Even so they ate while the siblings teased one another a little longer, at one point Jasmine finished and decided to take a shower “I have things to do later and I would prefer not to be sweaty while going out” she explained making her siblings nod as she went to the bathroom with a change of clothes to put on “What is she doing?” Adrien asked making Raphael snort “Takin’ a shower idiot” he said making Adrien look down “Do you know these things she has to do?” Felix then asked as Alya glared at him making Leonardo nod “She works actually, before she came to Paris she worked part-time as a model” he explained making there eyes widen “Jas came to Paris because of my design work, she wanted to model for me so to help her more with work and for me to be more known so she worked for free” Mari explained making Adrien look at her in shock.
“When Mari came to New York, Jas called her agency who decided to work with Mari. They made it so they paid her to let them do photoshoots of her clothes” Leo explained making Felix smile at how kind Jasmine really was “Since then Jasmine was set as Marinette’s model for MDC designs... No one can hire her only Mari can” Mikey explained making Adrien imagine how bad that would be for her to just work for Mari “Thanks to there teamwork... MDC designs has become pretty popular here in New York, everyone wants something from Marinette” Donnie explained as just then Jasmine walked out wearing a peach dress with white jasmine’s scattered at the bottom of dress “I’ll be going now!” she said as Adrien then stood “I’ll go with you” he said and rushed after her... Felix didn’t like that but he still did nothing and simply texted her that he could walk her back to the lair after work.
She accepted the offer, saying it might be awhile before the shoot was done but she promised to let him know when he come get her, he smiled to this and then focused on her family to try and get to know them better... Lila didn’t like this and decided she needed to use the bathroom and asked Alya to come with her because she needed to talk to her... Leaving Nino all alone with them, the boy looked a little nervous as the family glared at him... Felix could tell that they talked about Bustier’s class often “So... You’re really popular huh Mari?” he asked as she then growled “Only my friends can call me that! And your not one of them Lahiffe!” she said making him look down in shame.
In the bathroom... Lila was furious! Why did Marinette, Kagami and Jasmine have to have this amazing life while she still needs to manipulate her stupid class!? There had to be something she could do? But right now... She had to work on Adrien “Has he texted yet?” she asked while playing her innocent act as Alya sighs “Not yet, she’s busy with her shoot so he needs to wait until she goes to change outfits to tell her since she takes her break while she changes” Alya explained making Lila nod in understanding as inside she grinned... There was no way Jasmine would return the feelings when he tells her... And he’ll be a perfect target for an akuma “I just hope things go well for him... I mean we haven’t seen Jasmine since she left all of a sudden” she lied making Alya nod in understanding.
Felix was talking to Jasmine’s brother’s a bit more until he remembered something “How did Jasmine meet you Kagami?” he asked making her look at him in slight surprise of his question and then she smiled “I guess I can tell you that much... To tell you the truth I met her through Raphael” she explained making him look at her confused as Lila and Alya came back “I came here for a fencing match... It was a really big one too, if I won it would mean i’m the best” she began making him nod in understanding “But then I saw something, one of the other competitors was cheating so I notified it to the judges who got security to watch him and then look in his things... He knew I reported him since I was the only one who went to the judge table” she then said making Felix wonder what that meant.
“Once it was discovered that he was trying to secretly drug the other competitors and blinding his opponents... He was disqualified and later on I won” she said making Felix nod in understanding as she looked down “My mother went to the hotel early, she allowed me to stay out late due to my victory so I was walking around New York when he captured me... And took me to the docks to hurt me” she said as Felix felt cold all of a sudden at her words “He decided that if he was taken out of any fencing competition... Then I don’t need to be able to compete either... So he decided to destroy my hands so I couldn’t fence anymore... And then the Hamato clan came and saved me” she said as she turned to Raph who smiled to her in a warm way “He was the one who got me out of there and to my hotel room... I wanted to see him again and thank them properly so the next night they came over for some drinks and snacks that I got for them” she explained as Raph looked at Felix.
“I wanted ta know her betta, but how when i’m a freak! So one night I went ta fight some scum... An the police saw me, I panicked when they wanted ta capture me... An then Kagami came in to protect me” he said making Felix wonder if he was right “You being seen was all over the news” he said making Raph nod as Leo took over “We knew Raph would mess up one day, going out and accidentally be seen. So we weren’t mad at him for that and we simply went out to explain everything about us... Even the president of the United States came to meet us” he explained making Felix look at him in shock but nodded for them to continue “Thanks to Kagami, the president allowed us to live here freely, sure it’s weird for others but with time they got used to us” Donnie explained making him nod.
“Even so Jasmine found out because I told her, she was chatting with me and I ended up telling her everything... She asked about Kagami and I told her she was to come over later today, so Jas used the security cameras around the lair to see and hear her... She’s really good at hacking to tell you the truth... Hacked one of my games once” Mikey explained making Felix wonder what else she could hack, they were about to continue the story until Felix got a text from Jasmine that she was done “She’s done with the shoot” he said and with that walked out of the lair without saying another word, he got out of the sewers and followed the address she gave him while wondering what she meant by “Adrien left angry” did something happen?
When he arrived, she was walking outside towards him “How did it go?” he asked making her smile to him “It went well” she replied as they got going “So what happened with Adrien?” he asked making her look at him and sigh “As I went to change for my last outfit, Adrien stopped me to tell me something... He said he liked me, he was in love with me and wanted me to be his girlfriend” she explained making his eyes widen “Of course I rejected him... I didn’t feel the same way towards him so why should I date him? Anyways he didn’t like my answer and asked for an answer since we are soulmates... And I told him the truth that I liked someone else and I never saw myself dating him after he put me in the friends category” she said making him nod “So he got angry and left without saying anything” she finished making Felix wonder what his cousin might do.
“You didn’t tell him you love me... Did you” he said making her nod “He might have just tried to push me into dating him instead of going out with you” she replied making Felix sigh as they got to the lair... Only to find Nino, Alya and Lila gone “They left all of a sudden, Lahiffe got a text and they just ran out” Leo explained making them nod as they joined them on the couch, they kept talking a bit before Felix needed to head back “Will be going to the more history related places tomorrow” Jasmine said making Felix nod to the plan, he didn’t mind where he went if Jas was there with him “Should be fun” he said making her smile as they left the sewers and then to her car “This was a wonderful day” he said making her giggle “I’m glad... I was actually a little worried with those four coming with you... I really didn’t want to see my old class after Lila got me so wrongly expelled” Jas said making Felix wonder for a moment.
“How did she get you expelled anyway?” Felix asked as they walked into the hotel lobby... Without knowing Adrien and the other guys of the class were with him “You see, Lila claimed she had certain problems that need medication to help... But she always lied, when I was studying there I once was permitted to look into everyone’s medical files because we were having a party and I wanted to make there wouldn’t be any allergy problems” she began to explain as Felix raised a brow “When I got to Lila’s file... I was shocked when it said she had zero medical problems, I even called her doctor back in Italy who confirmed the only thing he found out was her massive lying problem... Her father is in jail because she lied that he was abusing her, he believes she lied to her mother about the lying too so it was written in” she explained as the boys looked at her in shock.
“One day I was called to the principal’s office, it turns out Lila accused me of switching one of her medicine bottles with something else... She even pulled out some bottle that held candies that the principal believed was the real medicine she takes... She claimed she found them in my bag that was always on me for that specific reason... I was expelled then and there. I’m certain the class knows about it... And Lila made it sound worse too” Jas was holding her hands close as Felix placed his hands on her shoulders “It’s over now, your far away from that toxic school and class, they can’t reach you here... Nothing Lila lies about can touch you here since the people here will believe you instead of her” he explained making her look at him “And besides... You have me on your side right my love?” he said making her smile as she nodded and then walked out “See you tomorrow!” she said and left the hotel with a smile.
“This whole time... She was lying!? Lila lied to us about who knows what for who knows how long!?” Kim claimed, they were in Adrien and Nino’s hotel room talking about what they just found out “I’ve been trying to make you guys see she was lying about things... But you never listened” Adrien claimed with a sigh, he was wrong, after Jasmine suddenly left... He began to realize how crazy some of the things Lila claimed were, so he did his best to make them see the truth... But failed “I’m really sorry dude, I thought you were simply joking” Nino claimed as he sat down “But, by the way... Did you tell Jasmine how you felt about her?” he asked as Adrien looked down “Yeah... She rejected me completely” he said making them look at him in shock “Your joking right!? Jasmine had a huge crush on you!” Max said in shock as Markov flew by “If my calculations are correct, there is a 00.02% chance that she would reject you” he said making them turn to Adrien “She must have simply pulled your leg dude! Maybe she didn’t like the idea of saying yes at her job!” Nino claimed as Adrien thought for a moment.
Nino wasn’t wrong, Alya always claimed Jasmine was the romantic type of person “I guess I should have asked her somewhere else” he mumbled as Nino nodded “Will help you! Tomorrow you’re going to tell her how you feel and the two of you will be dating!” he claimed as Adrien smiled... He really hoped everything would be alright now, the next day, Felix woke up to someone knocking on his door, he thought it was strange but he still went to open the door “I smell my cheese!” Plagg claimed as Felix opened the door... And there stood Jasmine with her kwami “Oh hush you! Tikki has it!” she hissed making the cat kwami grab the bag and fly to a table “I brought you breakfast!” she said with a giggle making him smile “I really do love you” he whispered making her smile to him as she walked into his room.
The whole class was waiting in the lobby while eating breakfast. The teachers with them for the trip were talking right now about what to do for the day... And Adrien was shocked as Jasmine came to the lobby, with her kwami Tikki, Felix... And Plagg, sadly he couldn’t react to his cousin having his miraculous with the class around so he acted like he was surprised “So where to first?” Felix asked as Plagg laughed “Isn’t it obvious!? The first place to ever go to is the Empire state building!” he claimed making Felix sigh as Jas giggled “He’s not wrong though, Jasmine planned your whole trip once it was confirmed she would show you around... That building was the first place she wanted you to see” Tikki explained as Jas blushed.
They walked out and into her car just as the teachers arrived “I want to see the Empire state building!” Adrien claimed as all the boys agreed... Including Alya and Sabrina... So that’s where they went, Adrien watched Jas the whole time she was with his cousin... He even messaged his father about him dating her... For now he had to wait for his father to reply but he hoped his father would agree with everything he wrote about her, when they got to the floor they could go to (you must pay extra to be at the top) Adrien watched as Jasmine spoke to Felix... Making him wish it would have been him there instead, after a while they left and went to the mall nearby... Adrien saw a gorgeous ring to gift Jasmine to promise her he would be with her... He bought it and to his luck the store knew her size.
Lila watched as Jas giggled with Felix... She really hated that girl right now “How’s Mari doing?” Felix asked making her smile “She’s healing well, MultiMouse should be back in action by next week” Jas claimed making Felix smile and nod Anyways, I think this is cute. I’m going to buy it” she said and then walked away to pay... While Felix looked over a few other things, Lila watched as Jasmine then noticed something, grabbed it and then continued to the cash register to pay for the two items she selected... She felt like something strange was going on, all the boys were glaring at her for some reason, even Mylène, Rose and Juleka were now glaring at her... What happened to make them glare at her like that “Lila? Are you going to buy that scarf?” she turned to face Jasmine in shock.
“It doesn’t really suit you... But if you like it then I can’t say anything against it” she said and was about to walk away when Lila grabbed her “Why are you being so nice to me!? I lied about you and even got the school to expel you!” she hissed in anger as Jasmine simply looked at her and then smiled “And I can’t thank you enough for that” she said which made Lila look at her in shock “W-what?” she asked very much confused “I guess I can tell you, I was actually already planning to leave the school. When I came to Paris my job was to note what the school does for the students to see if principal Damocles could join the school table... When I saw what he does with funds they get and other things... It was enough info so I decided to leave” she explained, Lila still didn’t get it though “The principal knew what I was doing, he threatened me to give a positive report... Or he’ll get me a criminal record so I ended up being forced to stay” she said.
Lila’s eyes widen “So when I took over as class president, got you kicked out of school trips and events you didn’t really care” she claimed making Jas nod “Pretty much, the principal actually gave me the title of class president to give a positive report, but when you took it... It was like a threat and he had to find a way to make me give something positive... But he was running out of ideas really fast including with me having a bad report on him... And then you gave him his golden ticket” Jas explained as it clicked in Lila “I got you expelled” she whispered and the girl nodded “He thought that by me getting expelled, the table wouldn’t believe my words... But in fact I always called them to update my report. So when he expelled me... It was the tables ticket to reject him” she further explained making Lila nod in understand “And so i’m thanking you for helping me out of there” she said as she walked away “The peach one with white lilies is better” she said and then went back to Felix.
Adrien watched as Jasmine walked out with Felix, he wondered where they were going... It was then that his phone buzzed, looking he found the reply he hoped from his father... He approved of Jas and was allowing Adrien to date her and even marry her in the future, but now he had to tell her again his feelings. The gang decided to do it in Central Park, there he could get her away from Felix to tell her “Lila’s talking to her” Kim whispered making Adrien look to find to his shock Jasmine talking to Lila “She’s been lying to us this whole time and she’s now being nice to her?” he growled as Adrien glared at them as he walked over to Jasmine and Felix only for their teacher stop him “Will be leaving in a bit so please wait” she said making Adrien watch as the two walked off.
“Let’s go eat something and then will go to Central Park” she said making Felix smile and nod “Oh yeah! I saw something and decided to buy it for you... I hope you like watches” she said as she pulled a silver watch “It’s beautiful... Thank you” Felix said as he slipped it on and then took hold of her hand, they got to a nice little shop to order and eat in... Without seeing the class driving by to get to a place to eat near Central Park, once they were done, they went back to Jasmine’s car to get to the park “I go there for a walk when I stress over too much” she explained making Felix nod in understanding as she then parked the car and they went into the park to walk around for a little bit making Felix smile as they walked.
Adrien on the other hand... He was pissed, just one moment, he just needed one moment with her for them to be together! It would be perfect, them dating will be amazing “Will get Felix away from her... So go get her!” Nino cheered as he and Kim got going to pull Felix away from Jasmine, once his cousin was far from her... He moved “Hey Jas!” he said with a smile... While she glared at him “Only my friends can call me that... And your not one” she snapped making him pull back but keep up the smile “Sorry about that, hey... I actually wanted to tell you something” he then said making her raise her brow “What?” she asked making him smile “I really like you Jasmine Hamato! I know that me asking you to date at your work wasn’t romantic, but the park is! So please... Will you be my girlfriend?” he asked with a smile as Alya filmed this... And Jas sighed “Adrien... My answer isn’t going to change just because were in another location... I don’t feel the same way for you, two years ago when you called me a friend... My feelings died for you and I moved on” she said making him look at her in shock “And now i’m happy while dating Felix... So please find someone too” she then walked away as her old class gasped at her as she then went to join Felix.

Your headache wasn’t as bad as you thought it would be when you woke up the next morning. You could see your light was still on and your phone was beeping. Not an alarm, probably a text message. You moved your hair out of your face, took a drink of the water bottle by your bed and sat up straight. You shrugged off your jacket from last night and grabbed your phone. It shined light in your face and in front of the picture of Leonardo was a few texts from Natalia.
You had met Natalia through Leo, as you had met everyone on the city corner. You knew, because he was a middle ground, you could see either family without repercussions but you had a soft spot for the twin Firths. They were your and Leo’s age.
‘Hey can you do me a favor?’
You slid open the text and looked through the few things that were there. She had sent you a few instructions to head over to the casino and scope out if Leo was really marrying Jodie Firth. It wasn’t the first you had heard of the arranged marriage. Leo had told you when you had broken up.
You would be lying if you said that you wouldn’t mind going to the casino and meeting the famous Roths. Natalia just wanted you to scope out, see if either of the sisters were there and maybe make some friends. You texted her back, voicing your worry because you had been dating Leo and they may have heard of you.
She recommended you bring someone that has nothing to do with the business so through them off the scent. You got up and threw your phone on the bed, getting into a comfier outfit. You would head there tonight when you had a better chance at being lost in the crowd. After changing you let Natalia know that you would go.
You called Saorise after that but she didn’t pick up. You let out a long sigh. She either had left without letting you know or she was sleeping in. You figured it was the first part. But you did call Jake to see if she had stayed over.
“Heyo,” he said, voice awake. He stayed up all night and still sounded the most attentive than anyone you had ever met. You figured he would need to be aware of everything that went on in his bar.
“Hey Jake, have you seen Saorise?” you asked, looking through your closet to find an outfit for the night. Something simple and not stand outish. You ignored the fact that Leo had bought you most of these outfits.
“Not since she left last night. I got her a cab, she said she had an early morning. Gone again?” You took a breath.
“As it seems. Thanks Jake I appreciate it. I’ll see you,” you said absentmindedly. You held up two dresses and held them up to your body, trying to decide which one was better.
“Coming to the bar tonight?” he asked.
“I got plans. Don’t let anybody drink out of my glass though, it may be a long night,” you said with a smile.
“Your glass will be waiting.” You hung up and looked at the door.
“Someone who isn’t in the business..” you muttered to yourself. That was hard enough considering everyone here was in either an addict or part of the drug ring. You put down the two dresses and walked to the door. You knocked on your neighbors door.
He opened within a few seconds, hair messy and looking just as he had when you woke him up last night. You felt kind of bad for that.
“Hugh are you busy tonight?” you asked, leaning against the door. He admired the fact you had swapped the fish nets for slacks. He was probably the only person other than Leo who had seen you in anything other than work attire in the corner. He ran a hand through his hair.
“I don’t think so. Why?” You smiled.
“Would you like to go to the casino with me? We can grab some drinks there, they’re supposed to be better than Jakes but I still think that's bull.” His smile was charming. You had only had Leo in mind for so long it was nice to be enchanted by someone else for once.
But thinking about Leonardo still made your heart ache.
“What do I wear?” he asked. You shrugged.
“Whatever you think would be appropriate. I’ll pick you up at 8?” He nodded and you went back to your apartment.

Saorise sat across from Lana, watching her cigarette smoke float above her. She ignored your phone call, eyes trained on the girl across from her.
“You aren’t really letting Leo marry a Roth were you?” Her legs were crossed, the suit she was wearing pristine and the gun on her hip was ready to be used if it was needed. Lana shrugged, taking the smoke out of her mouth. She was wearing the same large featherly white coat that she wore last night but her hair was a little more everywhere due to things that she had done in the dark hours.
“I have no say in what my little brother does,” she said smoothly. Saorise rolled her eyes.
The DiCaprios lived in the hidden part of the apartments, the very top. There weren't many people who knew they were there but because Saorise and Lana were the few people in the middle of the warring families Saorise was aware of where they were at most times.
“But you know he still loves Y/N. Not Jodie.” Lana took a deep breath.
“I’m aware and again, I can’t control him.” She could and she did. Both girls were aware of this. There was no point in arguing. Saorise stood and grabbed her coat off the chair.
“I think she’s going to see Jodie. Eventually, she’ll need it.” Lana nodded.
“Don’t let them see each other. It wont turn out well Saorise.”
“I can’t control her.”

Margot was sitting at the bar at 9 that night when the casino had just started to pick up. She was drinking the drink named after her, a spiky red one that was a customer favorite for its flavor and its look. He surveyed the room, eyes catching the window where her dad probably was.
He was likely doing the same thing she was. Looking for someone to trick or someone that had plans to trick them. There was always the wonder of when the Firths were going to strike so being attentive was her job, not her sisters. Although Jodie was on the floor that night, unusually.
She was sitting beside her sister, drinking the drink named after her. The Jodie was fruity and tropical. Their dad had made both drinks for a happy medium when they were slinking around. Jodie didn’t drink hers often but tonight she was trying to make amends.
“Nothing ever happens down here,” the youngest said. She took a sip of the drink, pink lips curling around the twisty straw. Margot sighed.
“You have to wait sister.” They had made up tentatively but that was siblinghood. They may hate each other but it was also them against the world. Jodie had a knife in the stocking of her dress and Margot had a gun on the strap under her big coat.
At the same time they sat there, you approached the bar with Hugh by your side. You were laughing, feigning laughter, as you watched Jodie and Margot survey the room. You sat beside the older sister, looking over the menu.
The casino was bigger than it looked it had taken you ten minutes to find the bar.
“I think I’ll get...the Margot please,” you said with a flashing smile at him. Margot raised an eyebrow at the sound of her drink being ordered behind her. She turned on the spinny chair, meaning to make an entrance.
“It's the best on the menu,” she told you. In the back of her mind she was aware that she had seen you and that green sparkly dress somewhere before but she figured it was that you had been in the casino before. Something like that.
You gave her a smile, a genuine one. Easy enough.
“I’ve heard. You’re Margot right? The drink was made for you?” you asked as though you didn’t know. Hugh was sitting beside you, watching the interaction with closed eyes. You didn’t tell him what you were here for. He hadn’t known everything that was going on in the corner and you didn’t want to drag him into this.
“Yeah. My sister, Jodie. And you are?”
“Y/N and this is Hugh.” The name sent signals in Jodies head. Y/N. She almost dragged Margot away to tell her who you were but she waited to see if she was going to lash out or not. She waited with an oblivious look she had gotten good at feigning.
“Nice to meet you. Great taste in alcohol.”
“Well they do let you pick your poison.”
It was at that moment that Leonardo had entered the equation. He was to busy worrying about Jodie when he approached the couple of you at the bar. He hadn’t had a proper date with her yet and he figured it was time. He hadn’t even seen you until he was a few feet away and you were to be trained on the sisters to notice him.
“Leo! Darling I’m glad you could make it,” Jodie said with a smile. She was curious to see how you were going to react. You grabbed Hughs hand the moment you saw your ex. He was caught up in that green dress he had bought you.
“Oh hello. Margot, Jodie.” He paused, taking you and Hugh in. “Y/N. I don’t think I’ve had the pleasure…”
“Hugh,” Hugh said shaking Leo’s hand. You gave him a strained smile.
“You know Hugh I think we should grab some pizza. I don’t want to get to drunk. It was nice meeting you both and seeing you.” Your cover had been blown with Leo here. You had to get out.
“We just got he-”
“You shouldn’t have to gain a gambling addiction on my behalf. Plus I hear the pizza place is good have you been?” You were already up and dragging him away. Margot raised an eyebrow, taking your drink that you hadn’t touched.
“I can’t believe she was here,” Jodie muttered to Margot who nodded.
“You love birds have fun. I have to talk to dad.” She took your drink with her.

“Please stop putting pepperoni on the pizza. There is no need for that much pepperoni on anything,” Dacre argued to his little sister. She was still wearing her ballet outfit from practice and because it was getting late she was hungry for the dinner she had skipped.
“You don’t have to fight my on what I put on my pizza. There is no need to fight me,” she said with a playful smile. The double doors swang open and Dacre turned from sitting on the counter to see you and Hugh walking in.
“Dacre, Natalia, this is Hugh, Hugh, Dacre Natalia. They’re together,” you said, leaning against the counter.
“Dacre and Natlia are together?” Hugh asked and you raised a hand, shushing him. Dacre took a deep breath.
“I’ll have to tell my dad. This isn’t good.”
“Maybe Timmy can marry Saorise.” You chuckled.
“If you think she will ever be married you are sorely-” you started but stopped, looking at Hugh who looked confused. “I have to go home. Can we get a piece of pizza?” You asked, out of breath and tired looking. Natalia gave you each a piece and Dacre was on the phone with Colin when you stepped out again.
“Why are there so many pieces of pepperoni?” Hugh asked. You chuckled, trying not to think about Leo and Jodie. Hugh made it easier.
“All the things that have happened and you just want to know about the pepperoni?” you asked, bewildered. He shrugged, taking a bite. It was a short walk back to the apartments.
“I figured you didn’t want to talk about the rest. Or you couldn’t. I don’t know.” You took a bite of your piece.
“Thank you Hugh. I know tonight isn’t what you expected and everything. I’m sorry, I just needed someone to be there with me.” He nodded, shoving his free hand in his pocket and finishing the last few pieces. You walked up the stairs to your rooms.
You stood in front of your respective doors, staring at each other.
“I can’t come in,” he muttered. You nodded, looking at your hands.
“Next time maybe?” you asked. He nodded and opened his door, walking in, leaving you in the hallway. You dug out your key from your pocket and stared at them, at the door.
And then walked back down the stairs.
---()()()()()()()---
Jake poured your drink the second you walked in.
“Hey princess. Rough night?” The bar wasn’t empty. There was a lot of people at the counter, talking and arguing but he had kept an eye out for you. You walked to the side of the counter and moved the little door open, walking behind the counter.
“You could say that.”
You pulled Jake to you and connected your lips together harshly.
‘My mascara is dry now Saorise, you always have the best advice.’

Do I know you?" 44) "Jesus, your face is about as red as your hair." 45) "Run along little ballerina, you wouldn't want to be caught hanging around the bad kids, would you?" 46) "No, I'm not the stripper, but I can be if you'd like." 47) "You ready to cut open some bodies?" 48) "Get in if you want to live." 49) "What are you looking at, short stack? Mind your own business." 50) "Your headphones aren't plugged in properly so I can hear everything you're listening to. I was going to tell you earlier but then you started watching the weirdest porn I've ever seen and I didn't want to embarrass you, but I'm about to leave so I figured I'd tell you before someone else sits around you." 51) "I don't know what they've told you but we don't need another member, go home." 52) "Hey, stop right there, you can't steal that! That's illegal!" 53) "Who's the nerd?" 54) "You look like the kind of person who wears days of the week underwear." 55) "So, how many pitchers of margaritas are you allowed to sell me?" 56) "My head fucking kills, I shouldn't have drank last night. Hey, wait, why do you and I have matching rings on our fingers?!" 57) "Congratulations, idiot! You just ruined a six month plan and now we have to start all over!" 58) "That is the ugliest shirt I've ever seen, where can I get one just like it?" 59) "I know you make straight A's, but I'm still not sure if you're really smart or dumb but really lucky. Because I've seen someone ask you what the square root of pi is and you answer with 'I don't know, I guess it depends on the flavor.'" 60) "Who the fuck let you in?" 61) "Hey, I'll give you twenty bucks if you take a photo with me to make my ex jealous." 62) "So, you eat ass or what?" 63) "You a cop?" "No." "Too bad, you would have looked good in a uniform." 64) "With a face like that I'll be whoever you want me to be." 65) "Hey, you have eyes, do you think this outfit makes me look fat? You can be honest, I can handle it." 66) "I'm just looking for a nice person to settle down with who'll fuck me hard and tell me they love me when they cum on my face, like, I feel like that's not too fucking much to ask for, you know? Anyway, I'll have a diet coke and the chicken salad, please." 67) "I swear to god, this is not what it looks like." 68) "First of all, don't you fucking come in here and try and start a fight with my best friend while you're looking straight goofy as hell in those fucking Walmart shorts and those thrift store crocs." 69) "HEY! YOU ACROSS THE STREET! YOUR DOG IS SO FUCKING CUTE AND I WOULD FUCKING DIE FOR THEM!" 70) "Anyone who says they don't like musicals is either lying to themselves, has never watched one, or is a heartless android sent by the government to blend into society and collect information about us." 71) "Asking someone out is easy, watch this. Hi, I think you're cute and if you're not seeing anyone do you want to go out sometime?" 72) "Hey, I saw you crying earlier when you stepped on a bug. Do you need me to, like, call someone for you?" 73) "I can't tell if you're really high and just hungry or if you're buying 28 family bags of shredded cheese at three am because you just love cheese. Either way you should probably also buy some laxatives or lactaid while you're already here." 74) "When I told you to make a power point about something you're passionate about for our first class meeting I didn't mean make a power point on 'How to Give Great Head' and I absolutely didn't tell you to include pictures." 75) "Are you wearing that tacky ass outfit because you genuinely like it or because you're a Leo and crave the attention?" 76) "Did you really just buy the last chocolate chocolate chip muffin? You are now dead to me." 77) "The fuck are you looking at loser?" 78) "Dude, books are just like subtitles without the movie." 79) "Hey, in your tinder bio is says your friends call you Badger Slammin' Sam and I literally only swiped right just to find out why." 80) "Are you hitting on me? Am I being punked? Are you a hooker? Did my dumbass friend put you up to this?" 81) "Hey, I need you to settle something for me and my friend. Which is the right way to pronounce carrot?" 82) "Do you believe in love at first sight, what about disgust at first glance?" 83) "Look, I'm not saying that MCR's last album changed my life, but I'm absolutely saying that." 84) "Can you move out of my way, I have to clean puke off the floor before I'm allowed to use my lunch break to cry in my car." 85) "Hi, I believe this very drunk person is your roommate, they told me this is the address. I caught them in my backyard playing with my dog again." 86) "I know you're probably not allowed to do this, but I kind of need to borrow an iguana." 87) "Hey, I saw you drop your sandwich in the parking lot earlier and start crying and I felt bad for not saying anything earlier, but I went to the sandwich shop and luckily the dude remembered your oddly specific order so I got you another one. I hope you get to feeling better." 88) "No, we don't sell 'that crazy kush' here, you can try Target." 89) "I was just calling because you sent me a picture text three weeks ago by accident with the caption 'When they let you deliver the digiorno after you clap them cheeks.' and I was just wondering if you could explain what that means because it's been keeping me up at night ever since you sent it." 90) "Hey, I just overheard you talking with your friends about how you put mustard, ketchup, and ranch on your macaroni and cheese and I just wanted to come over here and personally ask you which circle of hell you crawled up from." 91) "What the fuck is a diet water?" 92) "You guys here for the orgy?" 93) "Was that your scream? Why did it sound like a banshee?" 94) "I saw you pour two five hour energy shots into a cup of coffee earlier and then proceed to mix it with monster and red bull and like, dude I know this isn't really my place or whatever but I think you should probably go to the hospital. Like, I think you're gonna die." 95) "Your profile said you're a vegan but my profile says 'Only contact if you eat ass' and you contacted me, so what's the truth here?" 96) "Call me adorable one more time and I'll knock your teeth down your fucking throat." 97) "Move, I have to go fail my Stats test before I can go home and cry into a bag of hot cheetos while I rewatch The Office." 98) "I'm sorry, did you just order a fifty piece mcnugget for here, for yourself?" 99) "So, how do you feel about lizards?" 100) "Question, are you a top or a bottom, because you're giving off major power bottom energy but I'm not one hundred percent sure."

HypMic 7
I will never not laugh at the content advisory, haha.
I like Kazuha already. Too bad he’s probably evil…
Oh, is it the day of the DRB in the series already…? Or maybe, because it’s the qualifiers, BB and MTC’s match is on a different day to FP and MTR’s.
Oh? Does Tom know Jakurai well enough to call him “Jakurai-sensei”? (<- middle ground between “Jinguji-sensei/Sensei” and “Jakurai”) Also, Tom uses “ore”.
Ooh, Iris is a motorbike rider, eh? Interesting. I thought they (<- not sure if Iris is a “she” or “he” with a really weird name) were more of a Saburo-type and didn’t bother with things like that, based on their appearance. Update: Someone on Yahoo Answers said based on Iris’s watashi, she is a woman.
Typo fixed! Good job, anime staff! Update: I’m referring to “…darkest hour is just before the down” (sic).
…bukkorosu = “f***in’ slaughter ‘em”. It’s not wrong…it’s just the subbers really like to abuse the F word for MTC. But you knew that already if you got this far…right?
LOL, Ramuda wants to “scratch [Rex’s] back” (figuratively) to…get SNS views? Hahaha.
This Studio Alita is probably a reference to Shinjuku Alta.
Yotsutsuji!!! That was the one big spoiler I got before watching the episode today and I’m so happy I got to see him animated!
(One of) Irihatoma and Degarashi refer to Jakurai as “Jakurai-sensei” as well. Hmm, I never noticed. Update: That’s Degarashi, because Irihatoma speaks to Jakurai alone later this ep.
There’s 50% chance I’m getting this wrong, but I’m going to go out on a limb and say Kazuha is voiced by a veteran VA…one I already know about.
Doppo calls Kazuha by his first name…That upgrade means their relationship escalated quickly (or this is a quirk of HypMic in general, since I noticed most characters are on first name basis with each other). Also, it’s cute Doppo finally has someone in his corner. No other part of the franchise has one, to my memory. Update: It might actually be “Kazuha-kun”…but I’m still surprised though. Update 2: It’s both, actually.
I’ve listened to the phrase “some random guy” several times from Hifumi’s mouth and all I can figure out is the “yatsu” at the end. (Doesn’t help my ears blocked themselves up again, although it’s less than it used to be.)
Harumi Wharf.
R? On a helicopter landing pad?
…uh oh. I was right when I thought Kazuha was going to be evil. Also, Doppler shift/effect. Update: “Doppler” is clearly a pun on “Doppo”.
Hmm? “Hey, Doppo” from “yaa”…it doesn’t have a name referred in there. It’s a small but odd thing to do. (I remember a professional translator was complaining that people with intermediate Japanese were giving them flak for translating things “wrong”, but what I do here is analysis for my future and edificiation. I’m not here to knock down pro translators’ doors and demand a refund, because I’m trying to go pro to atone for my sins as a scanlator.)
The soundtrack’s slightly sinister tone, plus the fact I figured the culprit well before Doppo did, makes me slightly scared…for MTR.
I realised they skimped on the budget…this “hot off the car chase” line seems more like an MTC line, doesn’t it…?...Yeah, it’s almost word for word for MTC in DRB+. Maybe the subbers rushed and used this translation (this link I put here) rather than their actual lyrics…? I will have to get to the bottom of this. Update: Turns out the translation is slightly different, but…yes, there is reference to a car chase in the start of Shinjuku Style. (Sorry, I don’t know every lyrics of every song off the top of my head.)
…wow, this got really Doppo-centric. I’ve never seen the leader relinquish their position when it comes to “leading into battle” before. It just goes to show the staff really do pay attention to how popular Doppo is.
Note “Doppo” means “walk alone”, roughly speaking, hence the “solitary” line.
This song is very, very faithful to its original lyrics, because I was trying to look at Hifumi’s “mixing paint” line and it pretty much matches.
Hifumi’s “my men”, LOL.
Kazuha = “one leaf”, hence the “leaves” in one of Jakurai’s lines.
I cringe every time I hear screaming coming from this episode, y’know…?
…oh dear. MTC’s plot actually bled into MTR’s.
I already knew from browsing Twitter earlier today that Kizuna was going to become FP’s today, but hearing it is another matter entirely.
Kosuke Miyoshi is Kazuha. Apparently, this guy also voiced Mashirao Ojiro (the tail guy) from BnHA, but that’s his only major role…so I was right in that I knew him, but wrong in that he was, again, a relative rookie in comparison to most.
Apparently FP’s sign is a peace sign sideways to represent an F, but…it’s just a sideways peace sign to me…
…how is Dice’s bead ornament attached to him? Is it on his hair, on his ear, on the skin behind his ear…? I was trying to replicate his outfit and got stuck on how to represent it, so I ended up opting for trying (and failing) to do a small braid on the right side.
IWGP shows up this season…it’s the song with the “hoo!” noise BB perform in this episode.
LOL, “Dead men tell no tales” is a perfect saying for MTC.
Akudama 6
Is there a movie called “Brother”…? There’s apparently one that’s the plural of that, but not that itself.
If HypMic likes the F bomb, then Akudama like the S word.
I-Is it just me or is the choreography sped up at some points in this episode…? It’s a bit disorienting to come back to.
I thought the kid was a robot…but close enough.
Oh no! Why does the teacher always have to die for the student to become stronger???
Kairaku/shugi -> pleasure/doctrine (if I didn’t somehow misunderstand the shark’s kanji combo),
The part after the ED looks a little too long…keep watching.
The Japanese says “Lost Children”, but the English says “The City of Lost Children”, probably referring to this French sci-fi film.
I7 s2 6
I like how Gaku is taking special offence to Yamato’s comments about him being a playboy.
Re:vale-san. I never noticed until now.
“I’m already looking forward to it.” That’s how I would translate Tsumugi’s “I’m already excited”.
“…who could possibly complain?” – I think Mitsuki might.
The pun in the MEZZO show is that tai (group/squad) sounds the same as tai (want to ~). Rabbinsta is obviously Instagram + Rabbit (Chat?).
Oh my gosh! It’s the Yotsuba sister!
Mitsuki’s shopping trip OST is nice, man. This piano.
This episode has a really great sense of danger and foreboding for the future.
I7 s2 7
Perfection Gimmick. Never heard it in the anime before.
Even the ramen house’s name is a play on “Idolish7”.
LOL, Yamato sure turned that comment around.
The sign talking about beer says something about coupons below it. (It went by too fast and my CR app’s kinda fiddly, so I can’t really go back…)
Kimi to Ai na Night (pun on Idolish7, aka “AiNana”, again).
Mitsuki, no one hates you! You’re just imagining it all!
I7 s2 8
Momo hugely resembles Sasara, right down to the highlights on the hair…
“…you’re so handsome…” – I’m dying on the inside here, people! *laps up the BL pandering with a derpy smile on my face*
Banri and Tsumugi haven’t been focussed on lately…they’re clearly doing something regarding Banri’s ties with Re:vale, but I can’t quite figure out what that “something” is.
Why is there a basketball and a football in the back of the Takanashi office…?
Please don’t run in heels, Tsumugi…
“I love Idolish7!” - Ah, despite my quibbles, Tsumugi is good after all.
“making one’s best exertions” – Why do those words on the cup worry me a bit…?
Isn’t “I’m watching you” a creepy statement…?
Apparently Tamaki’s symbol is mp (mezzo pianissimo), hence Sougo’s words.
…my gosh! Aya’s foster father is Kujou?!
I7 s2 9
If I heard it right, Tenn’s line was “I can be your idol”, not “your prince”.
“Older Izumi” - …ah, poor Mitsuki.
“Damn you, sexy beast…” – LOL!
…aw, I think this is the first time my heart has been lightened by Tsunashi’s laugh. He’s a good boy.
The chibis…I’m still trying to get used to them…
As a song once said, “You can’t please everyone so you just gotta please yourself.” (Blah blah blah, something about garden parties…)
Takao what now???...okay, Takao Dayuu.
…You’re lucky that wasn’t Tenn doing Takao Dayuu. It would’ve been very “Gentaro does his courtesan voice” if it was.
Nagi doesn’t overpronounce things as much in this season. It’s…pleasant, actually. Give me more of that.
Nagi’s “Oh my god!” was hilarious.
Taiso 5
Ra (ら) and ro (ろ) look kinda similar in hiragana.
Even without the audio, I can guess the words were “yarubeki koto” (things you should do) -> shachihoko.
The texts are written in gyaru-moji. Gyaru-moji is basically indecipherable to anyone who doesn’t know how it works – kind of like the common teen vernacular, to be honest (LOL…?) – and so the subs actually kind of ruin the confusingness of it all, but they did slightly better when they went “UR”.
Movie shiritori! But…has it really been half a year since Leo started? I feel slightly robbed about that plotline with the Men in Black right now…(then again, HypMic is just as bad about important plotlines, if not worse, so…I’m going to be patient and not complain.)
July 5th…Rei is a Cancer…?
They’re…finally moving on this Men in Black plotline! I only complained two points ago! Thank you, staff, for listening to my complaints (…?).
Moon Land finished recently, so I wonder if I’ll lose interest in this anime from here on out…? There was a Pommel Horse Prince in that.
Moon Land taught me that gymnastics has a lot of skills named after their creators, much like the Aragaki previously. The score is out of 10 for both D (difficulty) and E (execution), meaning a 20 is the best you can do, but the judges can get really picky...
The word for “vault” literally means “leaping/jumping horse”…makes sense.
Some of these names are names I’m familiar with from Moon Land already…but I never remember what the skills look like.
…welp, Leo just proved he really is a ninja after all.
Dr Stone’s s2 had its ED announced to be “Koe?” by Hatena and “Yume?” here really makes a theme…does Hatena give all their song titles question marks on the end?
Taiso 6
Colour gangs? Like in IWGP?
It’s nice to see they’re (Jotaro and Rei) communicating properly for the first time in possibly this entire anime.
On the wall, that thing is an evacuation map…of some sort.
…I’ve always wondered: if a bird eats chicken, does that count as cannibalism?
This is like thw Makkachin incident all over again (in YoI).
“…there’s no reason for you to grin and bear it.”
…Leo and Jotaro, both are so dense! Boys *shakes head*.
BB? More like ET (LOL)!
Maou-jou 5
…I didn’t even notice the cast was all dudes bar the princess at this point.
Tatakau Onnatachi. It could mean “fighting women” or “female warriors”.
I’m still vaguely pissed that Kirito is here under my nose…darn Demon King!!!
One of the harpy’s recent worries was that she wanted to become friends with the princess…That’s kinda cute…
Didn’t Syalis already get the coffin that one time? Or did it get confiscated?
*eyes sparkle* Cloud…I’d like to sleep on a cloud…*dreamy look on face* Cloud.
This is basically Princess, ‘Tis Time for Torture in reverse.
Is it “make do” or “make due”…?
I don’t think I need to explain the joke where the harpy is happy.
Gendo pose!
I wonder if the bed or the sheets will talk to her (Syalis) someday?
Maou-jou 6
The New Gearbolt’s quote is “guruguru dokkan”, which is just a bunch of sound effects. It would translate to something like “whir-whir-thud”.
Underwear episodes are some of the worst episodes ever…they’re so juvenile…I dropped at least one series based on the underwear episode alone.
Ah! The seal on the ice monster’s shoulder! Too cute!
How can a mechanical princess mecha (…thing?) have worries?
LOL, never underestimate the hilarity of the teddy demons ganging up on the Demon King.
I like how the Japanese pointed out the demons only moved the princess.
HypMic 8
I thought the robberies were Kazuha’s doing…? Or is this a separate case?
Samatoki answering his phone with his feet up…LOL, there’s just something funny about it. It shows he’s just so badass, he can get away with it.
Riou’s hacking (?) skills come to the fore again. (Or is that listening to enemy intel?)
Ooh, Iris is sassy. I love her already.
…er, Samatoki? Blowing cigarette smoke into Jyuto’s face is just rude…
“…don’t hang up your gloves.” – Considering Jyuto has his red gloves…LOL.
What the heck is that backing track when the 2nd car moved out? That’s a cool track.
Ah! Iris is a Saburo-type…LOL, Saburo’s fake identity.
“a cop who’s in with the yakuza” - Wow, way to diss your own teammate, Samatoki.
For a guy who was only just in the water, Riou doesn’t even look wet.
“2 DIE 4” – Hmm? So did the anime staff know what Riou’s 2nd round song title was at the time…? Update: Judging by the name “Requiem” dropped in the next episode, I would say yes.
“…f*** the police…” - Wow, way to diss your own teammate, Samatoki. X2
Hmm? In Riou’s rap bit near the end, he goes “mad warrior” and that rhymes (in a very loose way of speaking) with “Mad Trigger”. The English didn’t keep that.
I remember seeing a spoiler which said that line (the one about slaves)…but seriously, Jyuto is such a “sexy revenge cop” (as someone once said – I think it might be Slug, or an anon to Slug) that literally nothing else seems to matter about him.
Why do they subtitle the laughing??? I still have no idea.
“Sgt. Iruma”? The guy just says “Iruma-san”. Is he a sergant or some other rank? Update: Yes. (As in, he is a sergant.)
I’ve never actually seen Ramuda sleep in a bed before, come to think of it. Does he not have a bed?
I would assume Gentaro is going…but he said he won’t be going, then negated that and then negated it again. Unless the 2nd time was him admitting it was a lie the first time…is he going or not???
“shinsetsu no human” – (Spoilers for later on/manga)…Yes, that’s actually what Ramuda says. It’s as if Ramuda subtly admits, right there, he isn’t human.
Nodo = throat…If this were translated more literally, it would sound pretty clunky.
“…rappa no inochi…paa!” – Yep, the subbers got the gist of the joke there.
Dice is basically a worm at this point…He’s squirming like one, anyway.
That “number of pips facing up” thing has got to be foreshadowing for something, y’know? Nothing in a story ever goes to waste. Also, it’s likely the dice are weighted or something…
…yep, there you go.
That voice Gentaro used for “I despise lies” was amusing…because it’s so different to his normal voice, and because Gentaro is a serial liar.
The 2nd song…which I already know is called “JACKPOT” from browsing Twitter earlier today…was a bunch of fun.
Udagawacho.
Hmm…emphasis on the candy. I wonder what that means? (<- already knows, I just want to keep it a secret from you, dear reader, if you don’t know it too)
ANIME SHOP is so clearly a pun on Animate, including the colours, that I can’t even…LOL.
FP’s Kizuna sounds distinctly different to the others…probably because of Ramuda. It’s mostly Ramuda carrying the tune there.
“Life is what you make it.” – Hmm, an interesting quote for sure.
HypMic 9
…welp, they don’t call it Fling Posse for nothin’.
I didn’t believe my ears, so I went and listened to it again. Sure enough, Ichiro calls Jakurai -san, not -sensei.
Ramuda’s normal voice! Things are getting serious~!
“Hifuming”? Is that a deliberate choice on the translators’ part? Or is it a mishearing?
…I’m laughing at how Samatoki called Ichiro a “hypocritical piece of s***”. I know the “s***” part is correct at minimum from the audio.
I believe Samatoki said -san, not -sama when he asked for an honorific. Hmm, interesting.
I knew this would get animated, but…I still can’t believe I’m watching it! Amazing…absolutely amazing.
If you’re wondering…yes, that long thing is her entire title and name. It’s said the name “Kadenokouji” is the longest Japanese surname in existence.
I remember reading a tweet earlier today that said somebody wanted “Altercation! Altercation! Altercation!” as a song title…and now I LOL, because the subbers made Gentaro say the exact same word.
Hmm…I only just noticed BB are the only ones with bags. They probably came last, but who took the others’ bags into Chuoku…? Update: Some of the others did have bags, I just never spotted them. For instance, Riou is carrying a large black rectangular bag, but Samatoki and Jyuto don’t have any. Jakurai has the bag from his TDD days.
The 2nd DRB brackets got announced today. BB vs DH, MTR vs BAT, FP vs MTC, rolling out across Japan (and Japan only due to COVID) in 2021.
“What happened between you and him?” - I was going “who?” in Cantonese (as I sometimes do), but turns out they’re just referring to Samatoki.
This is exactly as it played out in the drama tracks and manga…exactly what I was waiting for all this time! So good, dangit!
LOL, in the future, we will have camera drones working our concerts like they do in the DRBs…I think (?)
I wonder what Dice is thinking right now, seeing Otome on the screen…hmm…
…gah! Airhorn! Airhorn to the ears! *tilts to side due to sound*
I still kind of remember Slug’s take on the final battle…”The popo? More like the poopoo!” (or something like that). *sniggers*
The little barking bit after Jiro’s verse was…kinda cute, actually.
…ow, these are some burn-ass words. See? This is the power of the DRB!
…eh? Riou’s mic has his MC name on it. Don’t think I’ve seen that in any other part of the series.
Hoh, Riou even made references to Saburo’s character songs.
You can see “Hc” on Samatoki’s mic too…probably another case of his MC name, but partially obscured by his hand.
Aw, “Samatoki no sabaku toki” is a good lyric. Why couldn’t you try to keep that, instead of translating it literally to “judgement day for Samatoki”?
You can hear a thumping beat in the background when Samatoki prepares himself. That seems to be a similar way to how ARB treats this stuff.
“I’m THE Samatoki” – “Samatoki-sama da”.
I think it was really cool to show Samatoki handing the song over to Riou, but it also indicates there’s a disjunct in the lyrics that would cause such a thing. From this, maybe Riou is MTC’s weak link…?
Skeletons with katanas! Is that not cool?!?
…hey, that joined words thing Ichiro does…I would assume that’s what Rhyme Strike looks like in the HypMic universe?
Notice Samatoki took the word “signal” from Ichiro’s part and put it into his own one.
“Today is a good day to die.” – *eyes bulge* Oh…gosh. What a quote. Update: Someone theorised Ichijiku wrote these titles (the last 2), but someone else – like me – theorised this quote was what FP and M fans thought for this battle.
Akudama 7
…that’s one twisted kid.
Never threaten to kill a kid who can regenerate far better than you, Hoodlum.
Brawler is still in the OP…it’s kind of saddening to see him now.
I noticed a certain character appears on the Executioners’ hands if you pause at the right moment in the OP. It’s the first character in shori (management).
Bunny: set meal/Shark: roasted meat (yakiniku)
…This sounds a heck of a lot like the genbaku dome (Hiroshima Peace Park).
Bunny and Shark’s shirts together: Idiot -> Shark: Bone
Actually, this also reminds me of the Osaka Expo held in 1970. I loved writing about that event – it was just so fun to write about.
This anime is like Appare-Ranman’s sequel, except without the racing and crazy racial stereotypes (although there are still crazy stereotypes).
…whoa! This scene is going on the end of year list for sure. Just…have to remember this scene, where all the children disappeared, exists.
…”The City of Lost Children” is an apt title for this episode.
(HypMic spoilers!) I wonder if they’ll reveal that Ramuda is a clone in what’s left of the HypMic anime?
…oof, Doctor’s a filthy traitor!
Rule number 1 of fighting: never yell out “Smokescreen!” when the smokescreen is meant to cover you.
…LOL, dark censorship bar. Please wait for the Blu-Rays to see this scene uncensored.
What the heck?! The countdown went from 7 to 0 so fast!
Akudama 8
Black Rain, huh? *checks* It’s a movie about a pair of New York policemen who have to save a Japanese gangster from his death.
…don’t jinx it, Swindler!
Your brother isn’t on the moon, Sister. It’s just your dreams on there.
Notice “Neo Lake Biwa” actually has “Reiku” in its name, as opposed to, say, “mizuumi” or “ike” (the Japanese equivalent).
You can still see where Doctor stitched herself up.
What did Doctor “hold on to”?
Way to monologue through the whole morality thing… (<- not as satisfied as they would like from this scene)
I wonder if the seal is electronically tracked…
Tsubo = pot, vase…*thinks about drugs* (Not that pot.)
“…I’ll make you into a real man.” – More like a eunuch, LOL. (partially sarcastic)
I recall from Sarazanmai that “pair look” is the term for “twinsies” in Japanese.
Oh! Swindler kind of looks like the Executioner Boss now.
…I find it ironic that Swindler had long hair up until not too long ago.
Can to the eye! Ouch! That’s gotta be worse than a lightsaber…er, jitte to the eye!
This makes me wonder…was Courier a rich kid once…?

First-Line Center, Part Two
Tumblr media
She hadn’t read the invitation.
It hadn’t changed in years, after all - a set of rules and expectations for a New Year’s party that they were all going to break anyway because the most traditional thing about this team was flouting tradition. So, Emma had mostly ignored it. Until. A shout and Killian refusing to wear a tie and something crashing in her kitchen, one kid worried about another and she couldn’t shake the feeling that she was missing something.
There was a joke about fresh ice to be made, she was sure.

Word Count: 4.1 K Rating: F for festive family feelz AN: There are a lot of people in this story. Like. So many people. Matt Jones thinks his parents are the best, you heard it here first. And this also marks the end of Going Top Shelf on Ao3. There are still far too many one shots I haven’t posted and I don’t know that I’ll ever give up on this ‘verse or this family that is genuinely my most favorite thing to write. I will probably post the rest at some point. Thank you, as always, for letting me shove this family at you, internet. It’s the best.

The loft, for the most part, hadn’t changed much in the last thirty or so years. Emma wasn’t entirely sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing – there were still crystal glasses and a wait staff with impeccably creased pants and the outfits, across the board, were as absurd and over the top as they normally were.
It wasn’t much different.
Except there were more people. There were kids and grandkids and significant others, a low hum of talking and laughing and every single one of them breaking that rule about not discussing hockey. Emma glanced around, trying to find the two other kids that she hadn’t seen yet, but that was a fool’s errand because she heard the footsteps before she heard the shout and the slightly strangled dad seemed to echo around the room as soon as Peggy skidded against Killian’s side.
“Hey,” she breathed, eyes bright and just a little out of breath and Emma absolutely, positively did not want to consider why that was. She was starting to make several sweeping assumptions. Killian pressed a kiss to the top of her hair, eyes flashing towards Emma. “You guys doing that mind melding thing?” “That what thing, exactly?” Emma asked, and Peggy made a face, twisting so the beads on her dress didn’t dig into Killian’s side.
“The mind melding thing. Toph said you were doing it before.” “When did you see your brother? And where’s your other one?” “Probably teaching Noah how to score fifty goals a season.” “You think Matt's going to score fifty goals this season?” Killian cut in, interest and something that felt like pride almost too obvious. Emma bit her lip so she didn’t look like a complete idiot when she smiled.
She wasn’t sure that worked either.
She was really starting to believe her suspicions were right.
“Please,” Peggy huffed. “He’s on some other level right now. He’s being an idiot and,” she paused, using Killian’s shoulder as leverage and Emma followed her gaze across the loft. “Look.”
Emma’s breath caught.
Loudly.
Matt and Roland were crouched in the corner of the room, a tiny stick clutched in Noah’s hands and a makeshift goal that may have been Henry’s phone and Leo’s keys, both of them mumbling instructions under their breath while Elsa and Mary Margaret recorded the whole goddamn thing.
“Oh,” Emma breathed, a rush of memories and feelings she wasn’t entirely expecting.
“The more things change, huh?” Killian muttered. It took some finangling to get a step closer to her, having to shift Peggy slightly and drawing a not-so-quiet grumble out of her. “What do you know, little love?” “Nothing!” “I genuinely do not know who is worse at lying you or your brother.” “Which one?” “Take your pick at this point,” Emma laughed. “How long have they been over there? And seriously what do you know, babe?” “Like, at least twenty minutes. MD got here before I did though, which was super weird to begin with, but who knows? Maybe Claire’s a good influence.” “You didn’t answer that last part.” “I genuinely have no idea. Honestly. I’ve barely talked to MD. He’s been busy being cute and breaking all of Aunt Gina’s rules, but again, it’s super cute and Aunt Gina doesn’t care at all.” “Where is Gina?” Killian asked, glancing around like she was going to appear out of nowhere and chastise all of them for daring to question any of her actions.
Peggy opened her mouth to answer, but there were more footsteps and more hands clapping on shoulders and really none of them had evolved as people at all in the last thirty years. Will grinned when Killian groaned, slinging an arm around Peggy’s shoulders to rest his chin on the top of her hair.
He wasn’t wearing tails – although the pattern on his jacket probably would have done damage to Emma’s eyes if she stared at it for too long. There were far too many colors. And his tie clip appeared to be masquerading as a small disco ball.
“You better hope Gina doesn’t find you, Cap,” Will said. “How is it that you get away with no tie every year?”
“I guess that means Gina likes me more than you. Did you bring something to drink? Can I get something to drink?” “Cap did you not bring anything to drink again?” Robin called from the other side of the room, moving towards them with a waiter half a step behind. Killian rolled his eyes.
“You getting that guy to follow you around?” “You want to drink or you want to make fun?”
“I think that’s suggesting we can’t do both perfectly well,” Emma said, leaning around Killian to grab two glasses. And if nothing really ever changed at that party or in that loft, then she was exceptionally glad that the quality of the champagne fell underneath that umbrella. “You yell at Liam about being the better grandfather yet?” Robin didn’t quite flush, but he definitely pressed his lips together and Will’s laugh echoed in the minimal about of space around them. It only served to push his chin further into Peggy’s hair.
“I am not a kid, Uncle Will,” she grumbled, doing her best to pull away from him and it absolutely did not work. It never really did. “You don’t get to do that anymore.” Will hummed. And didn’t move his arm. “Yeah, yeah, where’s the boyfriend?” “Talking to Henry.” “Your dad challenge him to a shootout yet? Dr. J’s way too busy doing whatever he’s doing and Chris got roped into meeting Leo’s—what’s her name?” “Oh my God.”
“Not an answer.” “And we just got here, Scarlet,” Killian said, but the distinct lack of contradiction appeared with neon lights and sound effects. “So, you know...we haven’t had time. You talk to Matt?” Will tilted his head, brows pulled low because it was, admittedly, kind of a weird question and they hadn’t even taken their jackets off yet. “Should I have?” “Nah.” “Wow, no wonder Pegs sucks so much at lying, she definitely got that from you and Em.” “Ok, that is not a compliment at all,” Emma sighed, another round of footsteps and Phillip’s tie was metallic. Ruby weaved her way through the crowd, a bright red jacket covered in sparkles and maybe they should have made another rule about how both she and Scarlet made the whole thing incredibly weird and far too competitive every year.
“Emma’s the worst liar in the world,” Ruby announced, tugging the half-finished champagne out of Emma’s hand and ignoring her cries of protest completely. “C’mon, gimme this. My jacket keeps scratching my skin.” “And whose fault is that?” Will asked archly. He waved his hand towards a different waiter, flashing a smile when Ruby did her best to hip check him into the nearest wall. “Nuh uh, not going to work Lucas. My balance is unparalleled.” “Modest too,” Phillip added. “I have a question.” “It makes me nervous that you felt you had to announce it,” Emma said slowly. She wasn’t entirely surprised that they’d drawn the crowd – more ridiculous outfits and Regina flanked by both of Henry’s daughters, and Mary Margaret’s smile appeared to be permanently etched on her face. And Harper whatever her last name might have been only looked vaguely overwhelmed.
That was definitely a step in the right direction.
Elsa flicked her fingers against Killian’s shoulders when she moved towards them, Liam next to her and Anna’s hair twisted into elaborate braids, more than a few streaks of silver there as well.
Maybe things had kind of changed.
Emma hadn’t realized she was leaning against Killian’s side until he kissed her hair again.
“Got the drinks before you even took your jackets off, huh?” Elsa asked, arching an eyebrow and they should have patented that move years ago. They’d have made a fortune.
Killian’s lips quirked. “You cry about your grandkid?” “Nah, that’s Liam’s game.” “Aw, c’mon,” Liam groaned, both Robin and Will drifting dangerously close to cackling. Regina made some kind of noise that might have been an agreement.
“I think that means your old, leader,” Will said, laughter clinging to his voice. “Not you though, El. Just Liam.” “Yeah, good save, Scarlet,” Elsa murmured.
“Something about top-tier defenseman,” Anna added. Her dress was green, more sparkles along the edges and none of them were very creative. They were all covered in sparkles and there was probably a joke about looking like ice to be made.
Or there would have been if Phillip didn’t cough pointedly, staring at the lot of them with a hint of frustration and dash of amusement and Aurora was showing off photos on her phone.
“Did we interrupt you, Rook?” Robin asked, chuckling when Phillip flipped him off. “There are kids here!” “His grandkid is here,” Killian muttered. He hissed when several fingers flicked at his jacket again, not able to swat them away with one arm around Emma and the other still awkwardly twisted between Will and Peggy. “He’s got a grandkid because he’s old, you see.” “Yeah, yeah, you’re hysterical, Cap. Looking a little greyer up there than usual, aren’t we?” “Was that supposed to be in the collective?” “Shut up.” “It’s nice to see that the maturity level of this team hasn’t changed with its hair color,” Ruby said, nudging Emma in the side when Mary Margaret started to play the video of Noah. And, really, she refused to be held accountable for whatever noise she made.
Because she’d already had quite a bit of champagne in quite a short amount of time and it was definitely warm in that loft and there was too much smiling and too much laughing and the video was so goddamn cute it probably should have been illegal.
“Nailed it,” Ruby mumbled to Mary Margaret, a hum of agreement and quick swipe of knuckles under eyes. “And,” she added, making sure her voice dropped to something almost resembling a whisper, “you got to get here on time, Em. M’s went full-on sugary sweet mom with Leo’s girlfriend.” Emma’s eyes moved, a little begrudgingly, away from the screen and those assumptions may have been guarantees now or whatever and—”Do we like her?” Mary Margaret shrugged. “Leo hasn’t stopped laughing all night.” “Seems like a sign.” “Of you guys ignoring me,” Phillip interrupted sharply. Emma widened her eyes, expression only a hint less mocking than the general ooh that moved across the entire group.
“Known goon, Phillip—” Will started, but there was more glaring and more laughing and Regina was handing out more glasses of champagne.
“What’s your question, Rook?” Ruby asked. “Or comment or concern or whatever.” Phillip clicked his tongue, but Ruby had never been intimidated by any of them and the likelihood of that changing was slim to none. She drank the rest of her champagne in three, quick gulps. “What’s going on with Matt?” The oxygen flew out of the room. Or got whistled two minutes for roughing. And ruining the conversation.
Phillip grimaced, eyes darting around like he was waiting for someone to say something or agree with him and no one made a single noise. Killian’s hand tightened around Emma’s shoulder.
“Do we think something’s wrong with Matt?” Anna whispered. She absolutely did not whisper. They were all absolutely terrible at holding their alcohol.
“No,” Emma and Killian said quickly, but they were also pretty God awful at lying and she was totally going to blame the alcohol. And that video. Mary Margaret should not be allowed to have a phone anymore.
“No?” Elsa asked.
“No,” Killian repeated. There were more footsteps. Because they were all absolutely terrible at lying and keeping secrets and whispering. Especially the whispering.
“Wait, which one is Matt?” another voice asked, quiet and a little cautious and that must have been Harper. They probably should have introduced themselves to Harper.
Leo shifted on his feet, nodding in the direction of the approaching footsteps. “The one who looks like he’s about to drop gloves with all of us at once.” “I don’t entirely understand that joke.” “And it might not have been a joke,” Peggy mumbled, holding up both hands when Matt glared at her.
Harper looked stunned.
“We’ll get you all caught up to speed,” Ruby promised. “If M’s can figure out what icing is in less than one season, you’ll be totally fine.” She ignored Mary Margaret’s scoff, turning towards Matt and the stick held lightly in his hand. “Hey mini-Jones. You going to bite off any reporter’s heads in the next few days?” Matt froze, crossing his arms awkwardly and the tie around his neck was far looser than it should have been. “No one bit anything in post.” “Did I say that?” “Certainly sounded like it.” Ruby hummed, eyes far too bright to be anything except concerning. “What do you think you know, Ru?” She shrugged, but the smile was full blown now and Harper was still muttering questions under her breath. “I know nothing until you confirm it, mini-Jones. Weird how it always seems to happen that way.” And Emma needed to stop, simply, reacting – sounds falling out of her without her explicit permission, but she couldn’t do much about it and something snapped into place and Killian might have been laughing. It felt like it at least, body shaking against hers and fingers moving towards her neck because they still hadn’t taken their goddamn coats off.
“Is someone going to explain what is going on?” David asked, a few more sounds of agreement.
“Oh my God,” Peggy yelled. Her hands flew to her mouth, eyes wide as she bobbed on the balls of her feet. Matt glared at her. “I know what it is. Oh my God, Oh my God, Oh my God! MD!” “Shut up, Mar.” “I didn’t say anything! Oh my God. Am I right though?” “I thought you didn’t say anything,” Leo muttered knowingly, and Matt’s glare wasn’t quite as sharp when he turned that direction.
“Whatever, Nolan,” Peggy hissed. “MD. Is that—oh my God, did you tell Toph?” “Mar—” “—No, no, did you tell Toph and not me? Are you kidding me?” “I genuinely have no idea what is going on,” David admitted. No one acknowledge him. Probably because Peggy was trying to beat up her older brother, barely restrained by Will and a recently-returned to the conversation Jeremy Humbert who was also trying to say hello to Emma and Killian at the same time.
It would be a miracle if they didn’t scar Harper for life.
“MD,” Peggy pressed, lunging forward and barely making contact with the front of his shirt. “Are you sure?”
His eyes narrowed, a particular type of glare Emma wasn’t sure she’d ever seen one of her kids use on one of her other kids. And she was half a second away from reprimanding two grown adults who were both wearing absolutely absurd outfits, heard Killian’s quiet hey now that had always worked, every single time, but Matt groaned louder than either one of them combined. He leaned forward, pulling Peggy towards him – a cry of rather loud indignation from her, that only made Chris laugh from the other side of the room.
“C’mere,” Matt growled, wrapping his arm all the way around Peggy’s waist. She put up a fight, kicking and punching his arm, but he was honestly having some kind of season and Emma’s gaze moved towards Killian like there were magnets involved.
He smirked at her.
“Oh my God, caveman,” Peggy snapped. “Where’s your wife? Does she know you’re an absolutely insane person?” “Mar, I swear, if you do not stop talking right now, I will—" “—What? What, MD? Please go into exact detail of what you’re going to do.” He made another noise – ridiculously familiar and Elsa had to tuck her head into Liam’s shoulder to stop her laugh from bordering on offensive. Anna didn’t even try. And it only took another moment for reinforcements to arrive, Chris jogging across the room to help move Peggy. Harper was never going to come back.
They’d have to apologize to Leo.
“God, P, stop playing rag doll and just move,” Chris sighed. She dug her heels further into the ground.
“Are you not going to help with this?” Roland asked, walking back into the room with a kid hanging off his back and Lizzie smiling next to him.
Emma shook her head. “What could I possibly do?” “Ah, yeah, fair enough.” “Smart kid.” “Less fair.” “Mar, I am serious,” Matt continued, doing his best to drag her into the nearest corner and there wasn’t much of a point anymore because they all spent far too much time together and helped raise each other or something equally absurd and Killian’s fingers were warm when they twisted around Emma’s.
Peggy stuck her tongue out. “Fine, fine, fine, but the next time—you know what, I don’t care. Fine. Let’s go.” It only took a moment.
Emma was, honestly, surprised – was certain Peggy would demand answers before they found the corner or simply check both Matt and Chris until she was in charge of the situation, but it was also kind of nice, that hint of anticipation and waiting and—
“I knew he’d want to tell them first,” Claire said. Emma jerked her head around at the addition to the group, the whole lot of them standing in the middle of the goddamn loft with a slightly cautious looking waitstaff lingering against the walls.
She was dressed up as well, hair twisted at the nape of her neck and more sparkles, but the outfit had nothing on the look on her face – something about glowing and the next line shift and absolutely wonderful and complete and utter change.
Killian kissed Emma’s cheek.
And Claire flushed slightly, arms wrapped around her middle when her teeth found her lower lip.
“I didn’t actually tell you,” she said. “So I didn’t ruin the surprise or anything.” “Is it a surprise?” Emma asked, only a little disappointed her voice shook. She might have been crying. She was absolutely crying.
“Ah, I don’t know about that. It was almost responsible.” “Oh. Yeah?” The question was ridiculous, another string of inexplicable and unplanned emotion, but Emma could barely see through the tears in her eyes and Ruby’s sniffle sounded far too loud. Although, not quite as loud as the shriek that came from the far corner, both Chris and Matt doing their best to quiet Peggy.
They failed. Miserably. Or, well, as miserably as it was possible to be when everything seemed to be glowing and new and filled with very expensive champagne.
“Look who’s old now, Jones,” Regina muttered, tugging lightly on the back of Noah’s shirt. Elsa snickered, Anna wiping away her own tears and Roland grinned as widely as anyone else in the room.
Peggy was still screaming.
“Are you kidding me, MD?” She was jumping, arms flailing and hair falling out of its updo and Chris had shifted behind her, trying to control either one of those things, but that was a pipe dream and Peggy was absolutely crying too.
Matt smiled. And shook his head. “No joke, Mar,” he said, soft and honest and Emma’s heart felt like it grew forty-seven sizes. She leaned back against Killian’s chest.
Peggy’s hand flew back to her mouth, finally staying on the ground for more than a few seconds. Her shoulders shook slightly, though, and then it was a whirlwind of sounds – exhales and sighs and you’re going to be so good and there was far too much crying, but Peggy jumped at Matt and he caught her with the kind of athletic dexterity that was absolutely, positively genetic.
That boded well for the future.
Emma didn’t count how long they stayed in that corner – a moment and thing and three kids who loved each other more than just about anything else in the world and believed in each other more than anything else in the world – but Matt pressed his cheek against Peggy’s hair, eyes lifting with the hint of a smile tugging at his mouth.
“So, uh, we’ve got some news.” “Good news,” Claire added, her own expression drifting closer to joy than anything else. “Like, you know. Good news.” “The best news,” Roland amended. “Although I’m totally ready to battle Matt to the death for, like, dad of the year award or something.” Matt groaned, but any hint of frustration was gone, replaced only with announcements and new and he moved towards Emma and Killian slowly – as if he were worried about spooking them or their recently acquired status and— “I’ll win every time if I’m half as good as you guys,” he said.
Emma had no idea what sound she made. Killian’s knees buckled slightly. And Matt practically beamed, hugging both of them at the same time.
Mary Margaret took video.
Maybe she could keep her phone.
“So, uh…” David started. “Just to be certain here, complete sentences and official statements—” “—That was good,” Ruby said. “C’mon, mini-Jones. Let’s get official so David can toast and we can promise Harper we’re not all usually this weird.” Lizzie shook her head. “We’re always this weird.” Matt laughed softly, moving back to Claire’s side and Emma’s record wasn’t going to be for eye rolls. It was totally going to be for crying. “We’re, uh…” Matt said, pausing to take a deep breath and his gaze didn’t move away from them when he spoke again. “We’re going to have a baby.” “Yeah, I think we picked up on that kid,” Killian said, voice gruff. “Why the face during post, then?” “I wasn’t really doing anything during post.” “God, it’s like all three of you are trying to do the worst job of lying to us. Didn’t we age out of this already?”
“We went to the doctor yesterday,” Claire explained when Matt didn’t immediately answer, far too busy rolling his eyes and trying to contain his sister’s limbs. “They didn’t want to let him off of our morning skate, but then he scored, so…” “Oh,” Killian said. “Right. Right. That’s—” “We’ve totally got pictures.”
He took a deep breath, ignoring the small army of cameras pointed towards him because they were the most absurd family in the history of the entire NHL and several different universes.
Liam threw his whole head back when he laughed, his own tears obvious and maybe they weren’t just absurd, they were a bunch of giant saps. “We toast? Gina got that crazy expensive champagne, right?” “It pains me that you think I wouldn't get the very expensive champagne,” Regina said.
“Of course, Your Highness, of course. No more cracks about getting older, right?” “I make absolutely no promises,” Emma grinned, doing it entirely for the reaction. Liam cursed in Norwegian.
And there was, in fact, a copious amount of champagne and discussion of that one goal the night before reenacted several times by several different grandchildren with a variety of cameras pointed their direction. And there was dancing and food and a countdown that felt more important than it ever had, a shift and a change and everything all at once.
And Emma expected the kiss, something about tradition and rules, but she was a little stunned by the everything of that too – Killian’s thumb tucked under her chin and a look she couldn’t quite ever name, but had come to absolutely covet and she smiled before his lips landed on hers, soft and insistent and—
“I love you,” he whispered. She kissed him again.
“More than anything. Even if you’re kind of ancient now.” Killian laughed, breath warm against Emma’s cheek. “Yeah, as long as we get to do that together, I’m good.” “What a line. You look up kid-sized jerseys on your phone yet?” “No, did you?” Emma shrugged. “Maybe.” “Maybe meaning definitely?” “You really didn’t look yet?” “Nah,” Killian said, fingers doing something entirely unfair against her side. “I asked Liam and Locksley where they got theirs.” “Cheater.” “Efficient.” “Yeah, yeah, whatever you have to tell yourself, grandpa.” “I like that sound of that, actually.” “Good because that’s what we’re going with,” Matt yelled, twisted around Claire and he hadn’t moved more than a few inches away from her for most of the night.
Killian nodded, tugging his phone out of his pocket and Emma didn’t have to look to know that there was already an order receipt in his email. “You good with that, Swan?” “Better,” she promised.
The packages came two days later – plural, with more baby-sized merch than they’d bought for any of their own kids, a fact all three kids were quick to point out before Emma quirked an eyebrow and tilted her head and Peggy and Chris had to admit that they’d ordered their own merch too.

******
Amber woke up with a slight headache- not knowing if it was due to the jet lag or the full bottle of whiskey she had downed with Drake in such a short time the previous night.
Wrapping herself up in the luxurious duvet, waves of nausea suddenly hit- adding to her misery regarding being here ‘against her own free will.” Amber turned her phone on, as it ‘pinged’ with message after message, notification after notification- she regretted turning it on in the first place. Brett. Brett and his usual abusive threats were many of the messages. After no response from her, the usual apologies began- ‘Baby I’m sorry. I love you, just let me know that you are alright?’ The room began spinning, dehydration was now too obvious to ignore- grabbing a glass of water and painkillers, she had hoped that she would recover even the slightest before seeing Bertrand.
Quickly getting showered and dressing in comfy clothes- she had decided to go for a wander around her new home for the next month or so. Knowing that it was the Derby later on today and that Maxwell had already prepped her outfit, she knew she had time before needing to get ready. Leaving her phone, she text Brett lying saying signal was rubbish.
*****
Maxwell and Bertrand woke up and immediately headed towards Amber’s room. Bertrand had decided to give her a quick refresher lesson to help her ‘fit in’.
Opening the door, she wasn’t there. Bertrand became panic stricken mainly due to his house’s reputation, Maxwell was the opposite- assuming it was due to Brett.
“Where the hell is she? Was she okay when Drake saw her?”
“Yes! He said ‘She’s fine, no need for babysitting. I’ve left her now. See ya tomorrow Beaumont.’ I know Drake is miserable and seems not caring. But he wouldn’t leave anyone alone if they weren’t fine. Well...he may do that to Madeleine or Olivia- but with other people he has a heart under that gruff interior.” Heading two doors down, they knocked on Drakes door- hoping he would give any indication regarding Amber’s state of mind. Opening the door in response to the loud banging, he would berate whoever created this rude awakening.
“Do you know what time it is?” Drake snapped, whilst yawning.
“Yes 7.30. It’s late for me! I’m like the walking and talking alarm clock. Have you heard from Amber?”
“No why would I hear from her?”
“Well you probably have spoken to her more than anyone here. She’s not in her room. I’m worried that she’s runaway to go back to that arsehole.”
“She was fine when I left. We spoke about the states, realised we have a few things in common. One of those things was riding- I said I’d take her for a ride one day. I wouldn’t have left her if she wasn’t okay- mainly due to you two possibly murdering me.” Mainly due to me falling fast for her. I wouldn’t want to see her hurt. “What’s this arsehole done to her anyway? Cheated on her?”
“I wish! No I don’t mean it like that, I meant I wish that was the only thing he has done to her. Do you remember us sneaking off to New York a lot? That’s the reason why- she’d insist to not come but she’s family.”
“Many times myself and Maxwell had tried to convince her to come back. She’s afraid of what he may do next, what more he is capable of. I’m surprised that she’s here now. Maybe if she feels safe here she may stay?”
“I’ll use my persistent charm to convince her.” Maxwell winked at them both.
“I’ll go and look for her. You two look for her as well.” Bertrand exited the room, Drake’s mind was racing - wondering if the two brothers were over exaggerating the facts regarding Amber’s boyfriend.
“What has he done to her Max? She didn’t explain anything to me. I know it’s none of my business and that’s probably why.”
“Black eyes, bruises, broken arm, skull fracture. There’s no getting through to her buddy. I just wish she would find someone who would love her and that would treat her like a princess. I know she’s sarcastic, a bit dim at times- but she’s an amazing girl.” I know Max, she is amazing. That bastard, she doesn’t deserve that. No one deserves that. I’d treat her well. I’d take her on dates, spoil her, love her. She won’t see you in that way Drake, she’s far too good for you- so stop thinking like that. Brett is her boyfriend, and she’s Liam’s suitor. The prince could sway away from Liv, I mean Amber seems so much better than the ice queen. Shaking his head, he left his thoughts locked away- for the mean time.
“Let’s hope she enjoys her time here then, and that you can convince her to stay. Keep her safe. Does he know where you two are from?”
“No. He doesn’t know we are noble. Good job really.”
*****
Amber was in a gaze, walking through the courtyard lost in thought.
“Lady Amber are you lost?”
“Hey ‘Zimmer’. No. Well yes. I just needed some air - to clear my mind. I didn’t want to be a burden to anyone.”
“Remember what I threatened you with ‘suture’. Well if you insist. I’m sure the Beaumont’s are panicking about your whereabouts, Bertrand had a face like thunder.”
“Shit! He’s going to kill me. He’s going to yell at me. I better go back in.”
“And where the hell have you been?” Clearing his throat after seeing Leo, he returned to his usual manners by bowing to the prince. “Your highness.”
“Bertrand for fuck sake just call me Leo.”
“As you wish. Amber you look a mess, you’re one of Liam’s suitors. Get inside now and get ready! I’ll bring you some breakfast up to your room. We don’t have time to dilly dally. You’re a Beaumont act like one!”
Amber mouthed told you to Leo who just laughed. Storming through the doors with Bertrand high on her heels, Maxwell and Drake were waiting in her room after not finding her themselves.
“What are you two doing here?”
“Where have you been?”
“I went for a walk, I’ve got a banging headache- a hangover because of him.” Pointing to Drake, his face dropped knowing he would be in the doghouse with the brothers.
“Hey! I didn’t force you to drink the whiskey. It’s not my fault.” Amber laughed, then the both of them averted their gaze. Maxwell noticed the two of them blushing. Wondering what exactly happened last night between them both. He had noticed that Drake hadn’t been as withdrawn as he usually is since Amber had been there. Believing he was overthinking the situation- he did need to mention something important.
“Amber, he’s been ringing you whilst we’ve waiting here. What’s up?”
“Oh the usual threats. I made my bed Max so I’ll lay in it. Anyway- get out I need to get dressed, I don’t want to give Drake another heart attack. Then we have a Beaumont meeting downstairs, Bertrand is waiting for us.” Using the ‘finger gun’ gesture mimicking a handgun, he knew it was important to get to Bertrand quickly- the sooner this ‘meeting’ was over the better.
*****
Pacing the room, Bertrand was impatiently waiting for his family members to attend. He had spoken to Liam prior, to ask that no one disturbs them.
“Lord Beaumont. Lady Amber. About time that you both arrived. You both need to be punctual with court events. Now we have around an hour before we have to head to the Derby.” Amber rolled her eyes back, whilst Max sniggered- knowing she really didn’t give two damns.
“Bertrand. I know how to be noble. I spent all my childhood summers surrounded by you guys. I’m a good actress don’t worry.”
“Right here, right now. I put the offer out,I don't want to chase you down. I know you see it. You run with me and I can cut you free. Out of the drudgery and walls you keep in.”
“What the hell is that meant to mean?”
“That you can stay here with us, not go back to your hard boring life in New York. So trade that typical for something colorful. And if it's crazy, live a little crazy.... you can risk it all and see”
“Don't you wanna get away from the same old part you gotta play 'Cause I got what you need, so come with me and take the ride. It'll take you to the other side” Max butt in, hoping that she would listen to their plea to stay.
“Okay, my friend, you want to cut me in. Making me a fake princess, a noble. Well I hate to tell you, but it just won't happen. So thanks, but no I think I'm good to go. ‘Cause I quite enjoy the life you say I'm trapped in. Now I admire you, and that whole courtly show you do. You're onto something, really it's something....I got what I need and I don't want to take the ride. I don't need to see the other side. So go and do like you do. I'm good to do like me. Oh, damn! Can't you see I'm doing fine. I don't need to see the other side”
“Now is this really how you like to spend your days? Whiskey and misery, and parties and plays?”
“If I were mixed up with you, I'd be the talk of the town. Disgraced and disowned, another one of the clowns.”
“But you would finally live a little, finally laugh a little. Just let me give you the freedom to dream. And it'll wake you up and cure your aching. Take your walls and start 'em breaking. Now that's a deal that seems worth taking. But I guess I'll leave that up to you...” Hoping she would listen to their words, she didn’t need to become a full Beaumont- a lady of their house, but if she moved to Cordonia full time they knew she would be safe- and have a better future. Amber remained silent, not knowing how to respond. Obviously leaving Brett would cure all the heartache she had gained in New York. But she knew of how vicious court could be especially with her being ‘common’.
“We’re going to the other side, as a team. Until the Coronation- then I’ll consider my options. And for your information I enjoy whiskey and misery! And parties. Does this social season include an infamous Beaumont Bash?” The two brothers smiled at each other, knowing she would possibly consider staying. Not wanting to push it any further, they had decided to continue with the noble refresher course. Bertrand went through things such as how to use cutlery correctly, whilst Maxwell helped her with the Cordonian waltz.
“I know you don’t want to be here, but make an effort with Liam. Especially if Connie is watching. I heard that Drake that offered to take you for a ride. What kind of ride did he mean?”
“Horse ride. Dur! What other kind of ride?”
“Ohh you were both blushing before.”
“So?”
“Well he’s your type, tall dark handsome.”
“He is not my type! My type are arseholes. And he isn’t an arsehole.”
“But his looks are your type.” Amber knew she couldn’t lie- especially to Max. When they were younger, they would tell each other their deepest, darkest secrets.
“You two! Concentrate! I know I said you could live a little- but we need to get this right before the next ball.” The two of them danced, Maxwell didn’t see the point- he knew that Amber was an elegant dancer anyway. Picking up the moves straight away he knew she would piss the social season without even trying. Bertrand was impressed with the progress that they had completed in such a short time. There was a hesitant knock at the door- Liam, Leo and Drake wondered if they were all ready to go to the derby. Whilst Bertrand spoke to the Princes- Drake went over towards Maxwell and Amber.
“How’s the hangover m’lady?” Drake asked sarcastically.
“It was better until Bertrand forced us to dance- giving me more of a headache. I’m not noble but I know how to dance. My forte is the slut drop back home- but I don’t think they’d all appreciate me doing that here?”
“Hey, seen as though you’re such a good dancer- why don’t you teach grumpy here? He’s useless with those things.”
“Beaumont! I’m not useless- I just choose not to involve myself with shit like that.”
“Come On Drake, you’ve lived here your whole life and you’ve never once danced with a lady here. Even when Kiara tried to force you.” Kiara, she’s the intellectual one apparently- why would he refuse to dance with her?
“I would dance with anyone but her. I’d even dance with you Max over her.”
“So dance with Amber now then. She needs as much practice as possible.”
“I don’t need anymore practice thank you, MAX.” Why am I refusing to dance with him? It’s just Drake, my cousins friend.
“You heard the lady.” Drake stated before Bertrand came over, wondering what all the commotion was about.
“What’s the matter?”
“I suggested that Drake and Amber should dance together. To get more practice for her. But they are both being stubborn.”
“I think it’s a splendid idea. Maxwell, Liam wanted a word with us anyway. We will be back in five minutes.”
*****
“How about we just not dance. I can tell that you feel uncomfortable about it. What they don’t know won’t hurt. We could just lie, I’ll say I couldn’t teach you because you’re a rubbish student.” Smirking at him, she had hoped that he knew she was joking.
“I don’t actually know how to waltz, I’ve never been interested and I never will be, especially dancing with some noble girl who drools all over me at any given opportunity.” Amber bit her lip, attempting to prevent herself from laughing. “I know you’re trying not to laugh- but it’s true.”
“What the issue with Kiara? She’s beautiful, intelligent, from what they’ve said she’s nice enough.”
“She’s all that.”
“Well then. Maybe you should give her a chance- I’ll teach you to dance the waltz and then you can ask her for a dance.” For god sake Amber, I don’t want to dance with her. Maybe I would with you though.
“Fine. I’m going to lose this argument anyway aren’t I?”
“Yes. My family have a persistent side to us.” Getting into position, she could tell he was tense. Rubbing his arms, she had hoped to loosen him up a bit.
“Do not tell anyone about this.” Drake begged, putting all his trust into a woman he had known for all of two seconds. In the back of his mind he was hoping that he wouldn’t make a fool of himself.
“Don’t worry, you’re secrets save with me. I accept bribery in the form of whiskey.”
“That’s my girl.” Realising what he said, he immediately regretted it. “I didn’t mean it like that... I meant... because you like whiskey... oh just ignore me... I’ll buy you some whiskey to keep my secret safe.”
“That’s my man.” She winked, mimicking him. Taking one of Drake’s hands, she guided it around her waist, before putting her hand on his shoulder gently. Placing her spare hand into his- she noticed that it was slightly clammy. Looking into his eyes, she smiled softly- reassuring him that it would be fine. Shit I can’t do this, that wank last night was a one off- but having her this close to me is making me want more. Think that you’re dancing with Maxwell instead. After a while, Drake glided through the steps effortlessly, keeping his arms and chest out.
“Hold your hand up, and I’ll spin underneath it.” Finishing the spin, he held her close- both just staring at each other. Their chests rising in unison, Amber averted her gaze, and removed herself from his embrace.
“That’s it. You’ve done the Cordonian Waltz. I’ll buy you a medal. See, dancing isn’t that bad.” Maybe not with you in my arms- shit. Stop thinking about her like that.
“Maybe not. I don’t need a medal, I’m not a kid. I’ll share that whiskey I owe you instead.”
“It’s a date. Come on. Let’s go and find the others.” Drake blushed, knowing the word ‘date’ didn’t mean anything. But how he wished it did, he wouldn’t admit that to anyone.

After finding the others, they headed towards Honeyhill Downs. The suitors all gathered in the tents. Amber kept herself to herself- not really wanting to form any friendships until she knew what her future held. Olivia abruptly dragged her to the side, out of view from the others.
“So Amber, Liam told me about your little plan.”
“With all due respect your grace, it’s not a plan. It’s what Prince Liam will be doing. He wants you to become his wife- so what’s stopping him just following his heart?”
“But the King said....”
“What the King said is something he hopes for. Doesn’t mean it will become a reality - he shouldn’t control Liam’s mind. Liam is the future king.”
“So you don’t find the Prince attractive? You wouldn’t want to be future Queen yourself?”
“Fuck no!” Composing herself, she coughed before acting more ‘lady like’. “What I mean is no, I do not want to be Queen. Not now. Not ever. He’s all yours, don’t worry your grace. The only time I will spend with Liam will be an act. He’s not my type anyway.”
“What is your type then?”
“Someone who’s tall dark and handsome. And someone who is usually an arsehole. Liam has lovely baby blues, but I prefer dark eyes.” Olivia laughed, knowing who her perfect man would be- unaware that Amber was already in a relationship.
“Oh someone like Drake Walker then?” Blushing, she needed to think of an excuse to avoid people realising she had a slight crush on the commoner.
“Drake, is a lovely guy. The only love we will share is for whiskey.”
“If you say so Amber. I’m starting to like you. Stay in my good books or I may threaten you with a dagger.”
*****
Liam, Leo and Drake sat in the royal tent- all scrutinising the suitors tent from a distance. Whilst the two brothers compared the suitors, they noticed Drake in a trance- his eyes following every move that a certain lady made.
“Earth to Drake?” Liam said in a concerned voice, whilst shaking Drake.
“Sorry, what’s up?”
“Why are you gawking at Amber?” Shit!
“I’m not, I’m looking at them all- wondering why the hell liam is still insistent on choosing Olivia.”
“Now I know you’re lying Walker. You wouldn’t look at Kiara like that. You hate her.” Leo raised his eyebrows, waiting for Drake to lie through his teeth.
“I think Amber is a lovely girl, she’s got a great sense of humour. That is all.”
“Dude, you need to tell her how you feel.”
“For fuck sake Leo, I don’t know the girl. There’s nothing to tell her. I’ll go and grab some more drinks.” The two brothers laughed, both knowing Drake was hiding his true feelings.
“Do you think he will ever confess to her?”
“No.”
*****
Walking over to the bar, Drake thought about leaving Cordonia for a while to convince himself that he wasn’t falling for the new girl. If it was that obvious that both the princes knew, who else knew? How long would it be before Amber knew?
“I’ll have a whiskey if you’re buying. You owe me remember- or I may just spill your little secret.” Turning around, he couldn’t get away from her- not that he wanted to.
“I have many secrets, I suppose that one isn’t one of the worse for you to spill. Are you enjoying the Derby?”
“Ohh there’s more secrets? You have to tell me now, Ill pinky promise that I won’t tell anyone. About this Derby- I’d rather be riding, but hey this is all just for show. In a month I’ll be out of here, living my old life.” Drakes heart sunk, now he knew that he needed to prevent his premature feelings from growing.
“I don’t trust anyone, so I wouldnt trust you with all my secrets.” One secret being that I like you more than I should. “I don’t blame you for wanting to escape. I’d be doing the same if it wasn’t for Liam.”
“I’m hurt that you don’t trust me- I’m joking. Are you sure you’re not a closet gay?”
“I’m positive! I meant Liam has always had my back. Even when my dad died, and my mom left us- the royal family took us in and made us part of the family. Most nobles were ready to cast us out.” Placing a comforting hand on his arm, she felt guilty.
“I’m sorry Drake. I didn’t know. I was only joking you know? I better get back. Thank you for the drink.”
“No problem. Your round next time though.”
“Definitely. By the way, I’m glad you’re not a closet gay. That would just be a waste- you’re too handsome. See ya.” Shit why would I call him handsome? I mean he is, but I shouldn’t have said that. Why is it that I’d prefer to hang out with him over the women? I need to go back to New York as soon as possible- I’m damaged goods, he wouldn’t like me in that way.
Too handsome? She’s just being polite. Don’t think too much into it. You’re just a commoner. Once this event is over, I need to book a flight to Texas- I can’t fall for a girl who will never return the feelings.
