Do you think Nico ever uses shadow traveling as a kind of sh ?

Sometimes he purposely shadow travels too much, for too long, not by necessity but just to then feel himself fade away.

Because for a few instants it's like he doesn't exist anymore, like he erased himself from the world and it feels right. Or maybe is it the adrenaline that follows being so close to disappearing, for an instant he feels glad to be alive.

- my only critique is that Percy never does any movements to show its his power (which ik this is accurate to the books) but it comes off a little like he's just calling on Poseidon to do stuff. I wished they had some sort of indicator that it was Percy like maybe a slight movement or having the water pull back from the puddle he fell in and into the sea.

- I did think the fight was a little quick tbh but it still worked.

- I really like how it's his own hate for percy and everything percy has that gets him killed rather than straight up homicide. It really sets the idea that people like that will find their own downfall (which is ironic bc this trope is commonly used in ancient Greek tragedies)

season one of percy jackson is stunning. It's a masterpiece even with the changes and whilst there was definitely some timing issues and the cut to black became annoying, it was very, very good. If it is renewed for another season, it has a lot of potential, and I will be very excited to see how they adapt The Sea of Monsters for screen.

My Problems with Astraeus & MC

when i look past all the fanon n worldbuilding n the storyline i think for my MC,,, the route w/o anything added leaves a bitter taste sometimes... provided its shorter then others but its still... and im bored

For example... when complete w how the MC acts in his route i dont like how Astraeus calls her his 'greatest muse' and at one point likens her to the main art piece in a gallery. Normally itd b cute but here its :///

bc she does act as distant as a piece in a museum.

She never tries to understand him or be there for him... 'get down to his level' in a way, take care of him... idk give a little massage something... even he's bleeding out he's the one taking care of her... not only that she's constantly annoyed by how he speaks, by his greatest passion (poetry) i never feel like she knows things abt him or tries to get to know him (or like what she knows) and naturally he puts her up on a pedestal to admire.

They kind of just...have sex. And Astraeus has this mysterious connection to her heart for some reason other than that do they even have anything in common... She's the subject of his intense love but now that i read carefully i don't think its returned. Girl at least throw a 'I'll never leave you' or sth... Which is why i think he brings up the idea of a seperation a couple times bc he doesnt feel secure... Or thinks he s holding her back & and is afraid of her comparing him to Hades' in possessiveness (which was also unpleasent fyi... there can b a mid ground)

Who says... 'Yeah if you wish we can get seperated' when remembering a beloved union... im not all hard on MC tho dw now its Astraeus' turn xD 'would mine really be more binding' my dear boy MC was about to be sacrificed when you found her SHE DIDNT SIMPLY JUMP INTO YOUR ARMS

i talked to mags last night about ruyan and tock's indivitual time in elpis and tock has an entirely different time but in ruyans universe i think hades does send a missive back about althaeas familiar like a har har for sending this thing and Althaea, knowing fully damn well she only has one familiar and its Eos and shes literally right next to her, recognizes that something is afoot, but dares not mention it back to hades

no she realizes that someone is lying that theyre her familiar and her interest is IMMEDIATELY piqued, and since she has family working in elpis she KNOWS she would not look out of place visiting, so she BOOKS it there and slips past everyone with them assuming ''oh althaea is here visiting her father''

but she makes sure that hades and hythlo doesnt know shes here, and she immediately deciphers who this mystery familiar is (Ruyan) and understands that she is most certainely either

A) not from this time B) knows something althaea doesnt

so Althaea basically stalks ruyan around elpis to see what shes up to acting as her familiar, all while her actual familiar Eos watches him as well

and i think Althaea puts some pieces together? She doesnt know how, she doesn't know why, and she doesn't fully get where, but she knows that Ruyan must know her, and that Ruyan isn't from here, and so something very, very silly is afoot.

But Althaea also knows that silly little plots like this mean that something very meticulous is happening and must not be disturbed, so Althaea tries not to intervene; but she so badly wants just a moment, and i think in a lull she gets awfully close by to Ruyan and gains his attention and eventually manages to call her over. and IMMEDIATELY Althaea is like ''do NOT tell me anything about you, do NOT say anything i shouldnt know, all i want is to meet you'', and Ruyan realizes that he is in fact standing in front of his fully unsundered self from 15,000 years ago and that she has ''caught'' him in his lying act.

But all she does is get really excited about how for SOME reason, someone or some thing from some where has come here, and she KNOWS about Althaea, and its the coolest thing ever to her! And I think Althaea puts some pieces together and guesses that Ruyan is somewhow connected to althaea in some way, meybe a reborn her from the future, because their aether is exactly the same, but Althaea is for sure that Ruyan isn't any creation of hers. But she's just so EXCITED to see the future standing before her, and she cant stop touching Ruyan's face and scales and hair and the glasses she wears, curious and wondering what the future is like where Ruyan had come from, where people like Ruyan exist born the way they are (points to althaeas ears) and can live without ridicule.

I think the utter joy and delight on Althaea's face churns something in Ruyan's gut, but he promised not to reveal anything or say anything to Althaea she shouldn't know, and even when he tries she shuts Ruyan down and tells her that she must not know, it will ruin the magic of wondering.

Althaea eventually has to return, especially knowing that hades is lurking around and she must not be seen randomly in Elpis after she had missed the chance to come cause she was on an expedition and therefore raise Hades's own suspicions, but i think Althaea Ruyan not by asking a question about the future, but by telling Ruyan one thing, and it's that she hopes that wherever Ruyan came from, and for whatever reason, that she knows that Althaea is rooting for her from the past, and that she hopes that Ruyan enjoys the time she came from and doesn't linger in the past, for to Althaea, living in a past is missing out on the excitement of an unknown tomorrow. She gives Ruyan (essentially herself) a kiss on the cheek, and tells Ruyan that if she wanted to pretend to be one of her familiars she should've made herself an awful lot smaller (especially alluding to Tock, who is lalafell), and then disappears off with Eos in a flash of blue butterfly wings, never to be seen by Ruyan ever again

#i think this is how althaea knows to tell themis about the guiding star #i think althaea just assumes that ruyan ought to still be around to help out in elpis and that she will come to themis' aid #because if they share the same aether then that means they share the same love and althaea loves themis a lot #so ruyan will ought to love him as well. anyway [throws myself off a short pier]

After a busy morning,the Barton family decided to have a fun day at the park! They built snowmen and played games,Persephone even met a new friend!

Sephy named the snowman"spike"

At her uncle vildes house,her and Darwin had a snowball fight and played in the snow while the adults chat

Late at night,Bailee and Hades talk. While at church,they heard of a single mother who is going to soon pass,leaving her child with no one. Said mother was an old friend of Hades aand she asked him if he would take her child in.

"I could turn my office into a bedroom for them until we can save the money to renovate,and it will help her last days be worry free" Hades said.

"A mother always worries dear,but i think we should. I'll speak to Persephone about it though. And I'll make that poor dear some soup."

They may not be rich but they have a home and food,and they always did pray for another child from the watcher,they just didnt think it would come from such a tragedy

The Next Morning,the family ate breakfast. Persephone knew her parents were hiding something but she knew better than to press them.

Later on,Bailee sat Persephone down and spoke with her.

She felt bad for the girl infront of her, hair messy,tearstains on her face,glasses uncleaned with smudges,and her funeral dress was wrinkled from sitting too long. Sephy wished she could be a grown up more than anything in that moment,grown ups always seemed to know what to say or do to fix the tears and make the hurt go away.

Swallowing the lump in her throat,Persephone smiled sweetly,just as she practiced in the mirror multiple times before,and took Kore's hand gently. "Its gonna be okay,I'll be your big sister and keep you safe. You can sleep on the top bunk if you want,and papa helped me make you your very own quilt. You can play with all my toys too,and if you get scared,we can sleep together,I wont let any scary dreams or monsters hurt you or make you sad,I'm here,you arent alone" Persephone said,her voice soft and her hands giving Kore's a firm grasp. Sure Sephy was only two days older than kore,but that still made her the one responsible for her. Sephy knew that there would be alot she would never understand and that there will be alot that she can't help kore with,but that doesnt mean she wont try her best to help anyway. Pulling out her kercheif,Sephy gently put it in some cool water,wrung it out,and then gently wiped Kore face,taking care with her awkwardly round glasses,to help her feel a bit calmer. Then Hand in hand they walked to the car.

"I don't want to leave momma behind,what if I forget her?"Kore asked,her small voice weak and croaky from crying.

"You aren't leaving her behind Kore,Mama says that when people die,they watch over us and guide us. You may not see your mama anymore,but shes not gone. She's in your heart"Persephone said with little hesitation.

All Bailee and Hades could do was listen and watch the girls with pride in their hearts.

Here have some random favorite head cannons for Nico that I don’t see very often (some of these might just be me projecting onto them but idc)

He struggles with insomnia, mainly because he doesn’t want to have nightmares and waking dreams/flashback of Tartarus, also because his spine and shoulders are little crooked it can be hard to get into a comfortable position to fall asleep in (the last part is definitely me projecting)

Nico is fine with being the little spoon while he’s awake but the only time he fell asleep as little spoon he had a nightmare and woke up to something or someone pinning him down and breathing down his neck so he assumed the worst and lashed out in self defense almost accidentally hurt Will. Nico refuses to sleep as the little spoon ever since and always rolls over to face Will so when he wakes up he can see it’s someone he trusts laying next to him.

When he’s not having nightmares it’s weird and obscure dreams that make no sense and he doesn’t remember them an hour after he wakes up.

He sleep talks during those dreams and says a lot of random stuff. Sometimes Will has weird conversations with half asleep Nico.

Nico sleep talking: Mom? Mom where are you?

Will: babe who are you talking to?

Nico: mom. Where is she?

Will: who? Your mom?????

Nico: yeah where’d she go?

The skull ring Nico wears all the time used to belong to Maria. Hades gave it to her as a courting gift. When she died Hades held on to it until Bianca was out of the Lotus Hotel and he intentionally put the ring in her path where she would find it. When Bianca died she met her father and told him to give the ring to Nico.

He hates lightning and thunder because of what happens to his mom and the whole big three rivalry doesn’t help. He doesn’t like rain either but it’s not as bad as lightning. Absolutely loathes storms like tornados and hurricanes and natural disasters like tsunamis and earthquakes if they’re caused by Poseidon and hates electricity bad weather in general.

Nico is like the supernatural beacon of camp. Whenever someone has a supernatural problem like they were playing with a ouija board and accidentally summoned a demon or something like that they go to Nico for help. Even if he doesn’t have control over demonic entities he probably knows someone who does or knows how to get rid of it and close the portal.

this kid speaks or at least understands like 10 languages, and has a vague understanding of most Romance languages. There are the obvious: English, Greek, Latin, Italian/old school Venetian from the time period he grew up in. And things he was probably learning in school in Mussolini Italy in the 20s/30s: German and French.

Nico is frenemies with Sherman Yang, no I will not electorate on this, just think about they’re dynamic in The Hidden Oracle, it makes perfect sense. Nico shadow travels into Sherman’s chariot he was flying and beat the crap out of him and threw him overboard just to steal the chariot to help Apollo. Sherman claims he’s going to kill Nico but decides not to at the end of the battle.

He still has his old aviator jacket that Lycaon tore to shreds, he doesn’t wear it but he’s so attached to it he can’t throw it away

In The Demigod Files: The Sword of Hades Nico said he was just in a cemetery in New Orleans, I think he was hanging out with Anubis

alright random nico headcannons bc i’m bored:

• he once broke into a museum to try and animate a dinosaur skeleton only to find out the display ones are mostly made of plaster and uhhh that ends about as well as you can expect

• rachel makes him summon skeletons when she needs anatomy references

• he doesn’t do a lot of art himself but he absolutely adores every form of it. like the hades cabin is full of books and he doesnt understand spotify so he has tons of vynls and he lets hazel draw on the bunks and walls and his arms and he and rachel can talk for hours about art history and!!!! he just appreciates art so much

• speaking of music nico will listen to anything literally any genre EXCEPT country (which is really just bc he doesnt click with it but he loudly speaks against it just to piss Will off)

• he’s not like Strictly vegetarian but he avoids eating meat if he can bc it just tastes like death to him

• he’s really akward around younger kids bc he’s worried he’s gonna say or do something thats gonna mess up the kid forever but when he does talk to them he treats them like adults and they love him for it

• sometimes he tells absolutely wild stories with a straight face just to see if he can get away with it (he can) and now camp has no idea what stories about him are true and which aren’t

I want to talk about Persephone's incident with village people because it's trigger me so much and i feel myself less angry when i write about it, thank for anti-Lo tags, lol.

So Persephone showed as good kind person, but she never showed feels about this act before it was disclosed. I remember when she given coins to souls and it s all. She never thought about what she did, how terrible it was, that this people didnt deserve it etc. She hadnt remorse about it.

It could be shown without opening main intrigue of first season and would make this intrigue even more excited. Some kind of Chekhov's gun.

If her nymphs were so important for her that she became uncontrol angry why we never saw as Persephone missed or grieved about them. She almost didn't talk about them, damn they even don't have names. At least when she told about it to Hades could she gave a bit personality to them?

And this episode when they talk with Hades about it, i even started to think "oh it s fine" but no, after moment they laughed from VHS where naked Persephone dropped on Hades and dog farted.

Why this episode cant be just sad? We never seen Persephone feelings about it before, can we feel her sadness at least now? Sadness is normal feeling, beutifull in someway, which open person from diferent sides.

But in episode 152 i saw that Persephone does not feel guilty.

She just became angry because Minthe said truth, yes mb she made from her dark motives, but it still truth.

Can Persephone take responsibility for her act? Because everything what happened to her it's her fault. Btw what really happened to her? She lives in luxury with man which she likes and buying expensive clothes. I just don't see real big trouble in her life now.

So literally killing of people don't have any real bad effects for her. Emotionally: she is pretty fine, financially: everything is great too, socially: everyone still likes her, and her friends come to her, she goes shopping with Hades.

I don't know what to say in conclusion. Just this story rly have strange moral, maybe even dangerous, but in LO doesnt show characters as "grey", as in GoT for examle, they are good and bad, Minthe and Apollo bad, Persephone and CO good and i dont understand why they all do something terrible, but ones are hated by audience (even should be hated, because if someone will like Apollo this person will be just destroed by LO fans) and others are 100% loved for same things.

10 Anti LO Asks

1. it is good to make complex characters but rachel literally spend YEARS drilling into her readers' heads hxp are the most perfect and good people ever who always do right and everyone else is wrong so her now trying (and failing) to make them now "complex" completely fails because her  readers who have no critical media consumption skills are still just going to see them as right and get pissy when theres even a little bit of complexity there. Its too little, too late at this point.

2. 184, HXP talking to Helios like they just got caught in a scandal, kinda left on a cliff hanger

185, Helios is gone and Persephone is FINALLY admitting Hades likes her back even tho they’ve made out, shared a house, met the family, talked about her being queen, etc etc. 185 is everything we already knew. 

3. i should also point out printing out a webcomic doesnt actually make it a "graphic novel" that can then be discussed in english classes. thats why we dont study the printed homestuck books either. it just means its printed. also actual english classes would more likely rip LO apart not just for its greek myth butchering, but its piss poor witting as well. I think OP thinks it would be praised, but there's a reason not even actual critics mention its writing quality, bc its just not there.

5. I think the reason why a lot of people like Minthe is because Hades and Minthe relationship was so Out of character for both parties

Hades is known to be sorta a dick, a king who has too much power, controls everything and takes no bs. So he meets Minthe, she doesn’t laugh at him when his brother makes a “joke” and then she charges at him for the hat, says he’s not the asshole but needs the hat back. He hires her and later blurs their relationship. He’s the one who wanted Minthe as a gf but hades never states why. We analyze he’s got a type, young woman going through some shit (examples Hera and Persephone)

Minthe. When we first meet her, she tells hades she doesn’t want to be seen with him, later we learn it’s cause he’s planning on proposing to her in public at a party when they both agreed their relationship is casual. She does try to reach out to hades the next day but he won’t pick up. Hades is doing something shady (hanging out with a 19 year old) so clearly she gets more pissed. (I know it’s stated they have an open relationship but still shouldn’t be too pick to hangout with a 19 year old after a mini fight)However we learn more about Minthe character. She doesn’t want to be queen because she’s insecure and doesn’t feel qualified, hades in laws (who he’s had an affair with) doesn’t like her and his brother doesn’t remember her name but knew he was gonna propose. However Minthe does make an effort to be better after everything is said and done, she breaks it off with Thanatos even though we assume hades doesn’t know about that (kinda big for a character to show who they are when only one person is watching or no one). Minthe actually tries to stop Thetis from a lot of drama with Zeus and Hera despite Hera hating Minthe. Minthe even stands up to Thetis even though she doesn’t have much to gain (she lost hades and Thetis after that fight)

Which is why I find it so out of character for Minthe to go in on the AOW because I figured she’d be like “I want nothing more to do with Persephone” but RS back tracked

I also found the slap to be a little Out of character for both parties. I don’t know why hades has any fear of Minthe when he control everything and ripped some kids eye out and I still can’t really find why Minthe would slap him even though I’ve read the scene a million times (but again it’s hard to understand abuse in the first place)

Which is why I find Minthe more likeable than the other villians because you can take out the slap and you still have Minthe’s character, she still has defining moments, while Apollo has only really the (redacted) and Leto is just a classic cartoon villain trying to marry her son off to the damsel in distress.

6. LO literally has spelling, grammar, and story issues all in the first three episodes, any half way decent english teacher would rip it to shreds just off that alone if a student of theirs tried to make them dissect it, and thats before itd get into how badly it "retells" mythology (for the record I think TSOA and PJO would also be ripped apart too under a literature critical lens, but both are miles ahead better stories and actually written properly as opposed to how egregiously subpar LO is).

7. Ok but there is a good argument to be made that modern english lit curriculums SHOUD be updated, but that's via more diverse writers such as BIPOC and queer writers (especially if they're female), and to update translated works like the greek myths to be from more contemporary translators like anne carson, not poorly written YA books by horny white women and webcomics that wouldnt even pass a basic intro to writing class. this is why we don't let 15 year olds run the world, sorry to say.

8. does hades even go to therapy like all hes done is insult his therapist and say its waste of money and the comic even implies hes "getting better" bc of persephone but then?? why have persephone go?? especially when she only went because she didnt want to feel "inadequate" to hera (holy shit fuck off rachel for that), to infodump stuff we never saw, cry, and then just?? drop the whole thing?? like she went to ONE session to meet a single quota and the dropped it. the whole thing is just so bad.

9. FP spoilers, EP  188: I cannot tell you how tired I am of RS spending weeks upon weeks with filler, only to then drop a cliffhanger on the readers at the last second. This one in particular is just... so bad. It's a blatant attempt to inflate tension. You can just hear RS  patting herself on the back behind the scenes, going 'ooh, who could the new mystery-character who just got dropped into the story with no foreshadowing or set-up whatsoever beee~?'  Answer: I don't know, I don't care, can we please just wrap up this goddamn trial already? It's been literal fucking MONTHS??? RS is just doing everything in her power to stall plot-points in favor of meaningless fluff.

10. Do you think RS is actually reading what antis write here? In one chapter she suddenly added a new normal looking court, Perse has a dream (really weird one considering her situation), we have a cute scene between mother and daughter out of nowhere, plot moves etc. Suddenly we are getting everything we complain about here the most. Still looks like half-assed attempt to fix everything that went bad through years in one go tho.

From OP: Probably not. She does talk to her editor and her peers for their thoughts so their thoughts could potentially align with ours. Either that or RS decided to make this new things happen on her own.

One thing I found exhausting in hades was how unsympathetic many people were to Zagreus? For example, one convo with Meg, I think Zagreus says he hopes she never changes and she said she hopes he does. The whole administration chamber scene where Zagreus shares he was never trained properly and he ends up reprimanded for it. The initial mood where everyone feels Zagreus is being ungrateful for wanting to escape an isolating, antagonistic environment.

I love how a huge point of the game is working to repairing relationships and growing as a person (god?), and I do get that Zagreus probably isn’t the most perfect person, but I hated seeing all the lashing out against him because it reminded me of a smothering household. Although, I do understand a lot was happening and most of it earth-shattering and chaotic.

Annnnnyway, I really love mortal coil and this exploration of how those negative aspects could have gone a very different path.

Also, how do you feel about that post where someone feels Zagreus is the god of blood, bonds, and rebirth?

my personal hc is that the house was cold and everyone was busy doing their own thing and no one said anything of substance. kind of like how it is in the game after you've exhausted everyone’s dialogue. it sad, no one says anything much, no real conversations and its super lonely. 

If life before escaping was constantly like that its no wonder Zag’s relationship with all these people remained stagnant for thousands of years. I know its a game mechanic where you give everyone gifts and slowly grow closer through the game but still? How are you not close to your surrogate mother? or your mentor who trained you? or the sleepy guy/kinda-sorta brother who hangs around all the time?

couple that with not knowing what you're the god of and your father constantly berating you for the smallest things. in the game zag doesn't treat it like a big deal and back sasses hades all the time so we don't think too hard about it but it does suck. 

on everyone's reactions

a lot of what everyone’s reaction to zag’s actions is pretty understandable cuz he might start a war. and to them, it looks like a spoiled prince is just throwing a tantrum.

which, yeah he kinda is.

he doesn't know much about the surface world and the Olympians are much worse than Hades. According to the myths they are so so petty and deal out really disproportionate punishments onto people who sometimes don't even deserve it. so if they found out about him tricking them into giving him boons to escape... yikes.

and if they found ou about the whole persephone thing demeter would come after zeus and hades. sides will be taken, arms will be drawn, destruction all around.

so yeah to them zag is a sheltered kid who doesnt do any work and who is suddenly inciting a potential war for the sake of a woman he doesnt even know

ive said this before but this au really was because i liked the idea of a clueless confused zag who turned into a mortal leaving behind his godly body to bleed like a fountain for all eternity. and also cuz the main game didn't punch me in the gut like Transistor and Pyre did.

aaand then people asked for more. I never intended for the story to go on for as long as it did haha. all the angst is just me. persephone being so fucking afraid of her mother's wrath, ana feeling guilt over everyone around him dying, meg feeling angry over something she cant control, hades' quiet stoic assholish grief, even zag's hypothetical childhood where he feels useless all the time is just me projecting.

The fight had been rough but not as rough as you were feeling in the moment. You had gotten serverly hurt and had been in the medbay for about a week now and you had a longer road ahead. There had been an explosion and instead of turning to run away you had ran toward one of your team members that had been to distracted to realize what was going on, you had successfully gotten him shoved out of the way but you had taken the brunt of the blast.

Now you were laying here staring at the celing trying to stay distracted as Bruce and Tony looked at your completely shaddered knee and the burns up your leg. Fingers crossed that they would have good news soon.

"Well as of right now kid your out of commission." Tony said helping you sit back up.

"Meaning?" You pulled one of the pillows down so that you could sit up without being uncomfortable.

"Meaning right now, the way it all looks, your gonna be stuck in the bed until it fully heals and after wards theres really no way to tell if your going to be able to work in the field again." Burce said looking at the xrays again. "And your gonna have to have surgery in order to put all the right pieces back in the right places, but we cant really do that until some of the burns heal or at least start to heal. Its gonna be a long drawn out process unfortunately." He sighed setting the charts back down and walking over to you.

"Fucking hell! You mean I'm gonna be pushing paper work? I might as well go work in a damn office with four white walls and a poster that says 'hang in there, its almost Friday'." You placed your head in your hands.

"Hey! At least our paper work is more exciting than just running numbers." Tony said placing a hand on your back. He had been like a fsther to you, taking you in when you didnt have anywhere else to turn except the streets. Your own family had abandoned you at a young age and you had been leaning toward a dark path until Tony. "Besides with your expertise you dont have to sit behind a desk, your fingers arent blown off, you can still hack into stuff I'm sure."

"Tony we had a deal when I moved in. No hacking but you would train me and I could actually do good. Now look at me."

"I said no hacking the good guys, and if I remember correctly you were the one jumping close to the bomb not away from. I hate to be this way y/n but the only one to blame is yourself on this one."

"He would have been worst off than I am if not killed. I think I did the right thing. Besides you would have done the same thing if you had been closer." You sighed.

"Honey the diffrence with that is I have a supersuit, you wear a skin tight, spandex one peice, that I'm not a fan of." He laughted. Bruce had went to go get you some more pain killers to shoot into your IV.

"Tony if I were you I would shut up. Your starting to sound like you might actually love me, might even say your starting to act like a dad." You laughed pulling him into a hug.

"Shut it kid, cant let the others know I have a soft spot for the hacker orphan kid i took in all those years ago now can I." He said kissing the top of your head. "Do you need anything else before the drugs kick in and you pass out again?"

"Yes, can you please bring me my phone charger, laptop, and that really fluffy blanket that you and Pep got for me for Christmas."

"Dont ask to much of me now."

"I wouldnt be asking if you would just let me stay in my room. I hate it down here. I wanna be were the people are." You were starting to get loopy from whatever Bruce had given you.

"Ok little mermaid, get some rest I'll get your stuff." He laughed walking out the door letting you fall into a restless sleep.

You didnt know how long you hade been asleep but you woke up with a groan trying to sit up so you could atleast stretch your back from laying in one spot for to long. You flopped back down dramatically with a sigh. You could sense someine else in the room with you, you always knew when he was around.

"You dont have to hide in the shadows Loki. Your more than welcome to keep me company, you should know that by now." You smiled as the prince walked over and sat in the chair beside you. You could tell he hadnt been sleeping, his hair was fixed as always but his clothes looked worst for wear. He had on a plain black shirt and a pair of gray sweat pants, both of with had wrinkles in them either from tossing and turning or from not being changed in a few days.

"Whats wrong? And dont pull that 'nothing is wrong dear. I'm absolutly fine.' Bullshit. You look horrible." You reatched out to grab his hand. What you and Loki had was diffrent. You didnt just see his as a friend, he didnt just see you as that either though. You had spent many nights sitting up with the silver tounge man many nights laying on the couch watching movies, reading, talking about each of your pasts. He knew more about you than even Tony did.

"I'm still currently trying to wrap my head around why you pushed me out of the way and took the blow when you had a chance of dying from it. You shouldnt have been so thick headed my dear." He took your hand and raised it to his lips kissing the top of your hand.

"Loki." You sighed rolling your head to look back up at the celing. "You would have been hurt alot wordt than I am now, that blast could have killed you."

"I am a god y/n, that blast wouldnt have caused me nearly as much damage as it did you." His voice raised slightly.

"Thats what you think. You think that because you are "immortal" that you can take anything thats thrown at you. That no one really cares about you, that you wouldnt be missed? So why not try to take a blow from a bomb? My god your so stupid sometimes."

"I know I can. Norns y/n I've jumped into space, been brain washed, tried to take over New York, gotten smashed around by the Hulk. I was raised with Thor, he doesnt really go easy on a person. What I'm saying is I dont understand why you, a mear midguardian, would sacrifice themselves for me. If anything would have happened-"

"Nothing did happen though. I'm fine-"

"You have steel sticking from your leg, theres no telling when or even if you'll be able to walk again, and there are highly server burns that will leave scares. You cannot sit there and tell me that you are fine."

"Your right it does suck that I'm jot gonna be able to pull off shorts or a bikini anymore."

"This isnt a joke y/n. You almost died!" He finally yelled.

"And i would do it a thousand times over if that ment saving your damn ass again!" You shouted back.

"Why though?! Why me y/n? I've done horrible things, killed people! My life is meaningless." Tears had sprang to his eyes as he looked away.

"Because I love you God damn it!" You stopped suddenly your jaw dropping at the admission that you hadnt ment for him to hear. His head jerked back to you.

"What?" Shock was all over his face as he stood to walk closer to you. "What did you just say?"

"Because I love you Loki Odinson. Because if you were to die I dont think I would be able to go on living. Because even if you see all the bad things that you've done I can look pass that amd see all the good that you are doing." You reached up placing a hand on his cheek and wiping away a tear.

"I love you too y/n. I have since the day I met you. The girl that didnt care what anyone said when she spent time with me. The girl that can see through every face i put on. I love you so much darling." He placed his hand on your face and leaning down gently kissing your lips.

It felt like you thought it always should you felt electricity run through your body and the two of you connected. It was like getting a breath after not being able to for so long. He pulled away smiling at you.

"What do we tell the others?" He asked laying on with bed with you being easy with your leg. He placed his arm around your middle and pulled you as close as he could.

"I honestly dont care what we tell them. They can figure it out themseves for all I care." You smiled lacing your fingers with his, you yawned placing your head on his shoulder closing your eyes.

"Sleep now my Dove, I will be here when you wake." He felt your gentle breath slow as you fell asleep, the rhythm you of your breath lulling him into his own sleep.

Tony and Bruce walked in the next morning stopping dead at the sight in front of them. You and Loki were still cuddled on the small bed sleeping peacefully.

"Should we wake them up?" Bruce asked looking at Tony.

"Na, let them sleep. Dont want to let them know that we know." Tony saod grabbing Bruce's arm and turning to walk back out of the door.

No Alter is the same. No alter follows the same rules. Sometimes an alter will go “yeah I understand” yet still be a dick after you set rules.

I understand Mod Ares said he’s within rules, but also that does not always work and this Anon doesn’t seem to understand that. This statement to me feels like someone saying “well you’re not trying hard enough! You should have control over all of your actions even if they’re involuntary.” Which really fucking sucks

You know what I did not consider that I'm this context because our system doesn't function like that but your right. That's incredibly shitty, damn. @ other systems I apologize for not calling out the ableism because I didn't recognize it at the time.

I would actually modify my behavior if Hades or even if Roxas or Erin asked because I do my best to not go completely off the rails on this blog the way I might on one of our personal blogs. Unfortunately for everyone none of those people have an issue with how I'm acting so people who are rude can just suffer

anti LO anon opinions

(1) I just don't get why LO made a point to say Persephone actually hates death & violence so she can't be the blame for slaughtering a village who killed her friends + bullied her, but then has her happily murdering Minthe? At least in myth, Minthe insulting Persephone explained her fate, but in LO Persephone does it after Minthe is actually in the right and after we saw how Hades mistreated her/ruined her life. Anyone w/o the rose-tinted glasses on shouldn't be rooting for a murderous teenager.

(2) There are so many introduced then dropped plots in LO but does anyone remember when Ares literally hit Hera in the face so hard it made her BLEED and it was a cliffhanger of "oh no! how will she react? What will happen to Ares and Zeus for this?" and they just? skipped it? I understand the idea of Webtoons is each episode should be designed to make people want to come back next week, but so much is introduced that proceeds to not even matter in the end.

(3) The r*pe plot in LO becomes more of a waste the longer this story goes on. Minthe, an actually threat to HxP, should not be taken care before the guy who literally sexually assaulted the lead character, who wasn't even involved with them in myth. More so, with the introduction of Leto + deleting all of the blackmail + Persephone getting over the assault w/ no baggage, it literally was only put in for shock value and to make Hades, her canon r*pist, look better. Why even include it?!

(4) Minthe haters here are literally saying that people who relate to her should die I--- (they also shame people for sympathizing with her and those who acknowledge her complex character)

(5) People on the reddit and tumblr celebrate that persephone turned minthe into a plant in latest episode, so that meams it really happend. Im actually suprised that this plot doesnt happend amd get resolved in minllion years loke every other bigger plot.

(6) i highkey wanna know what nasty shit she would do with apollo and hyacinthus. here are my theories: 1. hyacinthus was 'secretly a girl disguised as a boy the whole time' and apollo is still a rapist, 2. apollo hasnt been born yet and is gonna fall in love with a rapist and people are gonna shit on him if he ever appears, 3. hyacinthus is gonna be his little put-upon Uke BabbuTM, and the healthiest relationship in hellenismos is gonna be butchered by rachel smythe.

(7) if smythe is so obsessed with modern interpretations of ancient things. eros's romance arrows (since eros/romantic love was considered a form of madness) are basically a dater*pe drug. apollo probably didn't agree to be shot. in the OG myth, sure he shot the arrow that made daphne hate apollo, but ... he also shot the arrow that made apollo obsessed with daphne. by her metric, apollo should also be a victim here.

(8) I like how LO fans say you can't critique the early art of LO because "Rachel hadn't found her style yet" as if she wasn't in her early 30's after art schooling AND years of working as an artist? It's not our fault it's easy to see she was not working off any character model and couldn't stay consistent in her style, and it's only caught up to her with the art team not being consistent either to where people notice a decline in quality.

out of curiosity, why does Kero crush on idia?

Ahh this is a really good and interesting question and has actually a more deep meaning than me just enjoying Idia!!

So okay, I have always enjoyed Cerberus' character and mythology and loved his myths and representation. I am huge Cerberus nerd, if you want to call it like that. So that, with me loving twst's concept and having Hercules as my most cherished Disney film, that's how Kero was born.

I just wanted a character inspired in the big and fearsome Cerberus from hercules, and well, he was gonna be in Ignihyde and he was gonna believe he was idia's best friend because, you know, you cannot separate a guy from his beloved dog. The thing is, at that time i really didnt considered Idia as a character I liked, or was interested in him, but the moment I started to play with his and Kero's relationship, and to draw them together, it was pretty obvious. The moment i realized Kero liked Idia was when I drew the Igni trio in that Star sending event art, with Kero carrying an embarrassed Idia.

It just felt natural, like Kero himself said "I like him, and you should like him too!!". When I create stuff and characters mostly, sometimes they build themselves up and I go along with it, so with all the paralelism and references from the myths, it had to be like that. Kero really made me love Idia and Ortho and Ignihyde, because he loves them, tbh. 

So if we talk inside the actual story, Kero started to crush on Idia naturaly, he starts to feel things for him because Idia brings him joy and calmness, it feels good to be near him. He finds him cute and pretty, but most importantly, Kero feels like he belongs there (I am gonna stop from saying more specific stuff about their backstories cause we still need epsiode 6!). It starts as a friendship where idia takes his time getting used to his presence and personality, but realizes Kero is the most loyal person he ever met, and maybe he doesnt understand most of the times why he choosed him as "a best friend" wich sometimes it feels a onsided feeling, but he appreciates a lot that Kero stays there, no matter what.

In Heracles' last job, after taking Cerberus to the outside world to probe he completed his last mission, Cerberus is freed finally and runs back to Hades' side because there is where he has to be, at home. I really would love to depict this as a reference sometime in the future.

Version I reread your original post and yes I do agree, tumblr-fad! Persephone does take away a lot of the complexities and archetypes I read you examine. I think Hadestown might portray Hades and Persephone's power struggle well, it doesnt completely ignore the implications its giving off for the sake of some romance. This is what tumblr is doing and it's really annoying. By doing this and reducing the characters here to simple boxes it's taking away your interest in the myth, I think that's what you meant? I think your study of Hades/the underworld being Persephones self, cthonic meaning "spirit of nature within, inner self" while I dont fully understand that's really cool. I especially dislike how woobified and depowered he usually is in the tumblr-fad! Theres a lot you can work with him as the antagonist in a retelling I think. In fact maybe itd be great to have a retelling that explores the power struggle between Hades and Persephone and shows how Persephone gets through adversity and becomes of equal power through oppressive authority? Thatd be really cool. Tumblr-fad! Version is the twilight of myths but kind of the opposite. In twilight, the author itself romanticizes the creepiness and power struggle that might be there between Edward itself(although Bella does have a lot of agency so I think that's why it resonated so much with female readers?) while the Persephone has a various amount of versions, most versions being she was kidnapped/abduction with many meanings and metaphors and allegories to things, and tumblr-fad! Version ignores nuance in favor of their ships. Thanks for being so open and honest about this, I honestly was stressed because I thought my response maybe being immature or uninformed might be irritating or annoying. I haven't been sneaking through your blog or anything like that, I just saw your original post in the goddess demeter tag so I searched up "Persephone" on your stuff since I was curious with what else you might have to say about it. I wish Tumblr could maybe bother to learn something called not everything is entirely not THIS thing or the OTHER and maybe do something different from what Hades and Persephone coming to be known as the peak of all love stories on the website.

I think I’m starting to understand what you’re getting at regarding the perception of victims as “weak,” and it makes a lot of sense. Thank you for clarifying regarding the “damsel in distress” trope because that’s when it clicked for me what you were talking about. I actually agree on that point, I think there is a tendency for pop feminism to kind of portray more vulnerable, sensitive or fragile women as less feminist, so I can see how you’re applying that to your views on how people on tumblr perceive the story of Hades and Persephone.

That said, I think you have a lot of different angles you’re looking at this whole thing from, and that’s great! However I think there’s so many subjects you are trying to tackle here that it seems like you are kind of are only half informed about, maybe from exploring discussions online. I think this is resulting in conclusions that are kind of confused and lacking in more solid foundations, if that makes sense. I think maybe you might benefit from exploring each element further on their own merits.

For example, did you know that there are a lot of different feminist viewpoints on Twilight itself? And not all feminists completely condemn it? In my opinion, there are a lot of things about Twilight to criticize, however there was a distinct element of hatred for the interests and desires of teenage girls involved with how people responded en masse to the Twilight phenomenon. I don’t think you were old enough to be directly familiar with all this at the time. I think a decent primer would be this video from Lindsay Ellis (tho please keep in mind that some of her most recent content is not for younger audiences). It doesn’t cover all angles of the topic, but it does give an alternative perspective in retrospect about the raging Twilight hate that swept through pop culture for a long time:

Also, there is a whole conversation to be had about the concept of “woobification,” and why that word exists, as well as how it is used in conversations about girls and women’s fantasies. The original post I made shows that I have my own frustrations when male villains and darker archetypes are whittled down to something seemingly non-threatening and “socially acceptable” myself (like...turning the beast into the prince in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast), but in my experience, people have often used the word “woobie” to describe any explorations of the vulnerability of these types of male characters when women do so because they find those men intriguing or attractive, and that can get kind of tricky because in many ways, those conversations can harbor a subtle resentment and shaming towards female fantasties, period.

I’m getting the impression that maybe there’s something about Hades and Persephone, or at least the archetypes they embody, that really intrigues you, but you’re not sure what you are supposed to think and feel about it from a feminist perspective. That’s ok, ultimately you’ll figure it out on your own. I can’t tell you what to think about the myths themselves on their own, separate from contemporary feminist media because that’s ultimately it’s own thing, and you can springboard your own perspectives and reimagining off of the original in any way that feels right to you.

 What I can do though, is leave you with some age-apropriate content that I was consuming at your age, as well as a link to a site that explores stories with similar archetypes that Persephone embodies. 

The site is called Girls Underground, and it explores and catalogues stories about girls who go on heroine’s journeys in the “Cthonic” context like I was talking about, as in exploring their own inner psyches through the experience of traversing a strange, scary, magical place. Sometimes these stories involve the trope of a spooky attractive male character who takes on an adversarial role that is sometimes also romantically charged, but not all of them do. I think the resources page may be of particular interest to you because it links to essays on subjects within this genre of storytelling. The Examples page has a ton of other stories not listed here that you can take a look at, however not all of them (but many of them!) are kid friendly.

Movies that I would recommend: 

Labyrinth (1986), which was my favorite film since early childhood, and is the reason I love these types of stories to begin with.

Legend(1985), which doesn’t depict a healthy dynamic, but is a great film and does have a big place in the general conversation about this type of storytelling.

Howl’s Moving Castle, either the book or the film. 

Pan’s Labyrinth is rated R for some gore and violence, and it has scary moments, but I think it’s fine for most teens. The character of Pan is not part of that whole “demon lover” trope because the heroine is a small child, but he takes on a similar role in terms of being a figure that embodies the underworld and thus a major part of the heroine’s psyche.

Honestly, I would consider Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (the original, not the live action remake) a good rendition. It was written by a woman.

Jean Cocteau’s black and white La Belle et La Bete.

Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, or a film adaptation of the same.

Rebecca by Daphne DuMarier, which is what my username is from. I’m fond of the Hitchcock film adaptation.

Honestly, the 2004 adaptation of Phantom of the Opera is...flawed, but it was my introduction to Phantom, and it’s a lot of melodramatic fun. 

It’s worth noting that in a lot of these stories, there are not perfect, healthy relationships depicted between men and women. There is cruelty, there is harm. But in many cases, that does not mean these stories have nothing to say about relationships between men and women, nor does it say that they are solely tales about abuse and we cannot find romanticism within them. Each story has it’s own flaws, it’s own strengths, hold deeper meanings beyond the surface. They contribute something distinct to a rich history of artistic explorations of the dynamics of power in romance and the female experience with our own desires within a patriarchal society.
