Yoongi in Love

Yoongi plans a romantic get away

You and Yoongi had decided to take things slow. Like REALLY slow. As of now, you’d only held hands, shared sweet cuddles on the couch and hugged.

You’d been hurt badly by your ex. Add on Yoongi being super famous and wealthy, and you both had some trust issues with people.

You both were enjoying each other, and talked about moving your relationship to the next level often.

As you were quickly learning, Mr. Reserved Min had a romantic side. Bringing you flowers and saying sweet things all the time.

In fact, Yoongi went as far as planning a 10 day vacation for just the two of you. You were so excited to spend all that time alone with him! And, not to be overly dramatic, but if you didn’t get some kisses soon, you might implode.

Yoongi refused to tell you where you were going on this romantic getaway, so when you got to the airport and boarded the flight to Paris, you were speechless. You spent the long flight sleeping, holding hands and watching movies together.

After taking a much shorter flight to Nice, he STILL wouldn’t give up the details on his plans. He had the sneakiest, self satisfied smile on his face while you begged for more information. You really wanted to kiss that look off his face, but somehow held back.It was late afternoon when you arrived at a beachside house. Standing out front, you were in awe!

His proud smirk reappeared, “Wait until you see the inside.”

Inside was just as beautiful. Huge windows lined the back of the house, with a view of the infinity pool, and the sandy beach of the Côte d’Azur beyond that. The kitchen was pre stocked, but you’d eaten a lot on the trip, so you weren’t hungry yet. You headed down a hallway that was just off of the living room and ran right into the master bedroom. That bed was... for lack of a better word, Epic. Huge and cozy looking, with pillows everywhere, plus the room had a large sliding glass door leading out to a private porch space.

Yoongi moved in behind you, wrapped his free arm around your waist and settled his chin on your shoulder,

“Let’s put our bags away and look around a little more”, he said, gently nudging you into the room. Holy Shit. You were sharing a room and a bed.

You knew that before you got here, but now it was right in front of you. You were nervous and excited as you put your bags away.

Taking your hand, Yoongi pulled you out of the room and led you to a small staircase that was almost hidden across the hall from the bedroom

At the top of the stairs, he reached out for the doorknob, and said,

“This is the reason I chose this house.” He opened the door and pulled you through.

You stopped and your jaw dropped to the ground. This was the most beautiful rooftop space you’d ever seen!

Walls on 3 sides, with a pergola ceiling and white canvas shades hanging from it. The back was completely open with a small, 3 foot tall half wall, giving an unobstructed view of the water. White linens hung to the sides, so you could draw them closed if you wanted more privacy.

There was a small kitchenette area, bluetooth speakers and several comfortable seats around, including what looked like a cross between a bed and a reclining beach chair that was wide enough for 3 normal chairs with one large white mattress on it.

You walked over to the opening and stood in awe of the beauty of the scenery.

“Yoongi...” you all but whispered, “This is... this is... I don’t know what to say! It’s all so beautiful! You planned all of this?”

Yoongi sidled up beside you and smiled his big, gummy smile, “You like it?”

“I love it,” you answered, looking into his eyes. You both turned to look out again. The sun had only just gone down, and the sparse clouds in the sky were various shades of pink and purple over the blue of the sea. You felt Yoongi move closer.

He slid an arm around your waist and pulled you against him. You turned your head and looked into his eyes. With the most gentle, loving look, Yoongi leaned in and touched his lips to yours. Your first kiss. Slow seduction was the only way to describe it.

Your arms wrapped around his neck and your body pressed to his as he deepened the kiss. Tongues gently explored each other as you felt the evening sea breeze around your hot skin.

Yoongi pulled back and took a deep breath to calm himself, leaving you whimpering for more.

With a strained chuckle, he took your hand and led you back to the large lounger.

“Have a seat. I had them stock up here, too. Thought we’d probably spend a lot of our time here.” Smiling, he flicked on a switch that turned on a low impact glow all around the space, then pulled a bottle of wine from the wine chiller next to the mini fridge. After handing you a glass, he reached into the fridge for a pre-made plate of fruits, meats, and cheeses and joined you on the lounger.

He connected his phone to the Bluetooth speakers, and turned on a playlist he’d been working on for weeks as he planned this vacation. Feeding each other little bites between quick kisses, and sweet looks, you got through your snack pretty quickly.

Yoongi set the plate aside and turned back to you, placed his hand on the side of your neck and ran his thumb over your bottom lip. Looking in his eyes, you opened your mouth and sucked his thumb in, running your tongue over it. You’d never seen that fire that suddenly lit in Yoongi’s eyes before.

He pulled his thumb out of your mouth and leaned forward and replaced it with his tongue. Slowly, he pushed you until your back met the mattress. Your hands switched between tangling in his hair and running all over his back as you kissed each other passionately.

As he settled between your thighs, one hand reached back to your knee, pulling your leg up to open the cradle between your thighs for him. His hand wasted no time running up your leg and under the hem of your sundress, coming to rest on the bare globe of your ass, where he squeezed and pulled you against his hard cock. Your moan had him pulling back, breathing like he just finished dance practice. He sat up on his knees and pulled his FG t-shirt over his head, looking down on you like you were a feast.

You ran your fingers gently over the swell of your breast, just visible over the material of your dress, with your eyes locked on his. Lost in the feelings that were overwhelming you. Yes, you were absolutely in lust with this man, but you were head over heels in love with him as well.

“I Love You, Yoongi,” your breath hitched a little. “Before we go any further, I want you to know that.”

He smiled his big gummy smile. “That’s why we are here. I wanted to shower you with romance, bring you to a beautiful place, and tell you how much I Love You. This isn’t just about our first kiss, or making love for the first time. This is to tell you what you mean to me. I want to keep you forever. I want to be there for you forever.”

He leaned down and kissed away the tears that escaped at his admission, and then placed a kiss on your lips that you would remember for the rest of your life.

The Love.

The Passion.

The Feeling.

It was the kind of kiss stories had been told about since the beginning of time.

Once your clothes had been peeled away, and your skin slid together, you and Yoongi made love for the first time, with the sea breeze running lightly over your sweaty skin and the stars shining bright above. Confessing your love for each other over and over as the night wore on.

Finally, exhausted and spent as the sky started to get light, you and Yoongi made your way down to the huge, epic bed. Unable to keep your hands off each other, you made love one more time before finally falling asleep in each other’s arms.

Jimins best hair colours? Not to be controversial but I think orangemin is over hyped when silver, pink, dark blue, blonde is right there….

This is the only controversy I would like for you all to bring to my blog from now on please and thank you. Lol I will not tolerate any orange min slander here! He looked glorious!! But I agree, orange doesn't even make my top 5 of hair colors for him even though I swoon at all his orange hair gifs/pics too. Lol

My personal top 5 favorites, yes in order:

1. I feel like everyone should be well aware that I am a giant fan of black hair on the tannies, but especially on Jimin. Okay. It just hits different. He looks SO GOOD. Especially whatever he has got going on right now with this longer black hair. I want to DIE everytime I see it. Perfection. Black hair is my number 1 favorite. Sorry, not sorry yall

2. Silver hair. Goodness he pulls this one off like nothing else. Let me swoon in peace okay?!

3. Pink Hair. This is... perfection. In every sense of the word. If pink min ever makes a comeback again, ESPECIALLY with the longer hair? I might cry. It was so pretty

4. Blonde. Everyone's favorite I know, but it comes in at number 4 for me. But good lord does he make blonde look good. Seriously he can pull off everything!! My personal favorite blonde look for Jimin is the almost white blonde but not quite and then just the super soft blonde. You could do a whole post over blonde honestly there is so many shades. Lol

5. Dark Blue 🥰 Black Swan Jimin era Jimin, perfection. Amazing. Beautiful. Seriously, how does he pull off every color making it look so good??? This should be illegal and impossible, yet here we are!

also, I wrote this with a reader who isn’t really shy about physical contact with Denki so I hope that’s okay!

‣ synopsis : denki just really wants to touch his girlfriends boobs.

Y/n and her boyfriend were currently sat at opposite sides of the bed in Denki’s dorm room. Y/n up by the headboard, horizontally laying with her top half hanging off the side of the bed, and Denki down at the foot of it comfortably sat crisscross while he watched her scroll through her phone.

The two hadn’t been together for long, only a mere few weeks. While they were well past the super shy stage of their relationship, things were still progressing slowly.

But while Denki watched his girlfriend in that particular position, there was simply one thing his eyes could really focus on.

And that was, of course, her boobs.

His eyes had been fixated on them for at least ten minutes now, he swears he felt himself start drooling at one point, damn pervert.

It was like two perfectly sized pillows sat on top of your chest right now, calling for his name. It’s like they were literally made to be squished and held in his palms right now, so much so that without even thinking he suddenly blurted out-

She resumed her position on her phone, going back to hang off the edge of the bed.

Kaminari basically had her blessing now so obviously, his hands went straight for his girlfriend’s chest, placing one hand on each of her boobs, His face still the brightest shade of red y/n thinks she had ever seen it.

y/n had a slight blush on her face as well, but she wasn’t all that bothered by it really. She wasn’t super shy or anything when it came to physical contact so this wasn’t really that big a deal to her.

But Denki? Mf was on cloud nine right now.

He was making the same stupid face he does right after he uses his quirk. He was really squishing each of the “perfect pillows” as he worded it on your chest?? He wishes he could show this scene to himself a month ago when he had begun crushing on you so he could give himself a high-five and say “hell yeah Denki you fuckin did it!!”

Y/n doesn’t think he realized how much time had gone by, because suddenly, she was snapping her fingers in front of the boys face, struggling to get his attention so they could go down to the common room for dinner. Normally they would just insist on skipping, but Aizawa had something important to speak to 1-A about, so everyone needed to be present. And they were already nearly 10 minutes late.

“Just like two more min-”

And that! Was when Denki’s dorm room door blew off the hinges with a large explosion, landing on the other side of the room.

“DUNCE FACE WHAT THE FUCK IS TAKING YOU SO LO-”

Y/n and Kaminari both froze, staring at each other with wide eyes.

uh oh

Bakugo stood in the middle of the room, staring at the sight in front of him.

There was Y/n,

and there was Denki.

with his hands practically glued to her chest.

For once, Bakugo quite literally did not give a shit. All he knew was he was starving and they were the reason he wasn’t eating right now. He had an 8:30 bedtime to catch goddammit.

“YOU FUCKING IDIOTS!! STOP BEING DISGUSTING AND HURRY THE HELL UP IM SICK OF WAITING FOR YOUR SLOW ASSES DOWNSTAIRS!!”

The blonde yelled in his signature Bakugo tone, turning around and storming out the door the same way he had stormed in. The couple scurried to their feet and composed themselves, giving each other the same “we never speak of this” look.

Meanwhile,

All that could be heard from the common room while they made their way down, was Bakugo yelling at Aizawa for “making him go upstairs to get that stupid idiot when it wasn’t even his problem.”

;______; just heard that from September we’re gonna have three students in our cluster who are under 1 year old... (5 in the school total)

aaahhh im exhausted just thinking about it

and whats crazy is in one of the classes with under 1 yos there is a kid who is between 1-2 yo and she cannot walk yet. We have been trying to help her learn and have begun wondering if there is some reason beyond her mother just didn’t really encourage her to walk before. (Like maybe she needs leg braces etc.) So far no news on that but this kid only drags her feet around, obviously she needs constant help, and there are 12 other kids in the class, two of whom are under 1 and three teachers, HOW are they supposed to do it???

and the class that will have three under 1s has two first year teachers in it, that makes me so nervous... They’re both awesome coworkers, this is no shade on them, but under 1s can be TOUGH, it’s SO easy for them to get hurt. idk it feels like an accident waiting to happen.

i’ve been at schools where 5 students was an entire class, if we’re gonna have this many under 1s we should just have a class for them, come on! I love them but they are twice the work of kids on year older than them.

Also the recommended teacher-student ration for 1-3 yos is 1:6, which we abide by, but I believe it’s actually 1:3 or 1:4 when the kids are belong 18/12 mos. Apparently the head office does not care.

These kids are not in my class, I currently teach 2-3s, however I am a long care teacher and I look after them during morning and after care. I do their nap and their snack and play time supervision etc. From 10-2 they’re part of their class, but the rest of the day they belong to all of us.

More work ranting under the cut because I guess I just need to vent to the air.

And we have a LOT of students now - two clusters of going on 30 in each, in very small classrooms where the teachers are expected to watch them like a hawk AND keep constantly busy with numerous tasks at the same time.

Plus our prep time has been cut down this year despite additional work getting put on us, and we have no extra help.

If one teacher is out sick, no one gets prep time.

Don’t remember if I whined about this before, but a month or so ago we had a meeting in which the leader said “If you find you don’t have enough prep time, that’s on you to manage your time better.” It was super condescending and annoying. I’m like, dude, my contract says I get 1 hour prep and 1 hour break. We never ever EVER get the full two hours (and I should mention this is never consecutive, it’s 15 min here, 30 min there, 1 full hour if you’re really lucky). It’s usually at most 1 hr 45. But a 30 min break is fine! I’d love to take a 30 min break. Almost never do. Way too busy.

Like, I won’t get into it, but the laundry list of Stuff To Do recently has been ENORMOUS. In my class, I have 19 students. One of my co-teachers is part time, meaning she’s not around to help during much of prep time, and the other is a leader meaning she’s constantly in meetings or doing leader assignments. They are both fantastic co-workers, but yeah, this means I do ALL the class stuff. I prepare all the crafts, I do a ton of the organizing, and I’m often the only teacher from my class available in the afternoons because part-time teacher went home and leader teacher is in a meeting. So I end up with a lot of the after care stuff.

We have to hand out these big projects that teachers are responsible for preparing for each student on 8/16. We know these are coming and prep for them as soon as possible, but like, I won’t get into this either lol, but it’s so hard. It’s time-consuming by itself, and made worse because all the school computers are crap (like takes-15-min-to-start, another 10 to open the browser, 5 to go to the website, then it freezes, then 5 more, another freeze, etc) and like you have 15 min break time hahahahaha.

I wanted to get such a head start that I just started doing what I could back in the beginning of the year but we lit can’t do the bulk of the work until a certain kind of envelope is delivered and that doesn’t come till summer for some stupid reason. Soooo our long prep days in April when there are no kids around... can we use those to prep for this project? Heck no!

Anyway. This year’s is due on 8/16. This coming week we are off for obon break. This year also, the company is doing the project slightly differently. Instead of staggering what class gives out their projects to their students when, we all have to do it at once. We are our company’s biggest school, sooo my honest thought is no one at the head office thought about us when they made this change. The other schools don’t have to stagger anyway, they have at most two classes. We have four.

So this means everyone is printing their projects at the same time. For one student, you need 10 sheets on A3 paper. For my class of 19, that is 190 sheets of paper. For four classes, we’re over 700 sheets total. THAT IS A LOT OF PAPER.

So I get to work this morning and boss says “Yeah so we’re out of A3 paper.”

!!!

IT’S DUE MONDAY.

There was a little bit left so I just charged and printed as much of my stuff as I could in the morning before anyone else could. Then, miraculously, another packet of A3 paper appeared out of nowhere, and we were able to print most of the rest of our students’ projects. (My coworker who is a leader has not printed hers yet because she is super busy and isn’t finished. Again, she’s an awesome coworker, I wish I could have helped her more, but uh, I’m also swamped and not taking breaks, so. Hopefully she can do it before we really do run out of A3 paper.)

Getting more paper is no big deal, it’s just that no one has the time, and this is due Monday.

So I was super stressed. Sooooo super stressed for such a dumbbbb reason. And I don’t understand why these projects have to go out on Monday anyway. Some kids don’t even come to school on Mondays. Like. Just make sure they get them next week, isn’t that good enough?? Why make us stress and panic.

Everyone else seemed fine though, I was the only one tearing my hair out because I’m the type who finishes everything a day early so I have a day to check it over... I am not spontaneous and I hate to rush...

I lit told my coworkers, because regardless of the paper situation we are still behind because we have not had any time to organize the projects, that I will just stay late tomorrow to do it. It’s the Friday before a break so I don’t mind too much. I am really tired tho and would of course rather just go home and sleep but. I’ve done this before. Finishing up this project will take 1.5 hours - 2 hours at the current state it’s in, IF I can just sit down and do it uninterrupted. (Have I mentioned these projects are HEAVY?? And there’s 19 of them?? It’s a big job just to take them out and start putting them together >.<)

So tomorrow evening that is what I will likely be doing -.-;

There are INNUMERABLE other STUPID parts of this project - the idea behind it is great, but the way we are required to make it is absolutely bonkers and desperately needs a revamp but does anyone listen to a preschool teacher? heck no lol

uggh.

I feel better after venting tho.

I like my job, I just wish humans in general gave a shit, not even about quality of life (since obvs that’s expecting too much lol, also as a person with privilege I’m aware I’ve already got it pretty darn good), but just about not making jobs that are ridiculous. Just plan them out better, sheesh. There’s no reason for all this running around. The projects don’t need to be printed. Or they don’t need to be so huge. They don’t need all this fuss and nonsense. They are a good idea, but we could do them in a way that would be sooo much less stressful.

(The funniest part of all being, it’s a project for the parents mainly, and the parents... don’t like it x’D No they really don’t. They are happy to have the project, but first they’ve got to get it home, and it is HUGE and HEAVY and UNWIELDY lmao. And some of them are carrying twin 2 year olds and both of their futons home as well, and we’re like “here you go, two giant projects for you to take home!” And the parents are like “thanks????”)

Alright um wow! i actually kept up with this! if you don’t know i started drawing as a new years resolution lol and um wow! here i am doing a year end review! also like?? the fact i started out with a few random colored pencils i found in my basement, a single pencil, and a single sheet of paper?? and that’s all i used for 2 and a half months??? aND now im using a whole ass drawing tablet??? it’s kinda wild lol Also from this point forwards i post higher quality versions of the art & go into details about the art so um yeah, it’s a *very* long post to end the year on

January 2020 um yeah i had only started drawing like 4 days before this and wow it fucking shows lmao (also all of my first drawings are just straight up scenes from Ghost & Pals PVs because wow froggy your so creative only drawing the things you watch on youtube lmfao)

February 2020 Okay but like,, yeah yeah i get i only had a month of experience and all of my experience happened on a single piece of paper but like?? why is this one so fucking bad?? lmao like i remember even at the time of making it i hated it lmao. Also super cool note this was my first drawing i did in full color! i later decided that it looked weird having only a bit of the paper colored so i went back and colored the whole thing because dumbass froggy is a dumbass

March 2020 omg woah is that more drawings of ghost & pals oc’s in the exact same pose as in the PV?? that’s like, so creative bro Also the fact that i very clearly remember thinking that his head was *way* too small to be realistic but i felt like the older art where there heads are literally wider then there whole ass body was fine??? hewwo??? froggy?? you good? like i know your kinda stupid but heWWO???

April 2020 Okay okay okay heres where things start to get interesting 1. I found a sketchbook and was no longer limited to that single piece of paper 2. I started editing my photos so i could actually get the colors i wanted 3. I started my tumblr uwu! 4. and i actually?? don’t hate this?? like yeah it’s still not creative in the slightest but it’s not *bad* and i kinda like that shade of red :flushed: May 2020 yeah no your not getting a high quality version of this So basically this was the month when i started moving over to digital art using my phone and wow was that rough getting used to (but also it was so much easier for me to do with my set up lmao) June 2020 Yeah i like to pretend this one doesn’t exist lmfao This was the month where i first started taking like?? proper reference photos for my art and i was actually starting to be creative with it and come up with my own ideas,, just,, all of my art from this month looks *exactly* like the reference photos except worse to the point where im not sure if i can even call it art lmfao

July 2020 To say this month of my life was a shitshow wouldn’t even begin to cover it lmao so um yeah, i drew that! also?? if i remember correct my mother stole the little art supplies i had just cause and that’s why this one isn’t in color or anything lmao

August 2020 I feel like it was around this point that my digital art actually started being *somewhat* good but i still wasn’t *super* happy with it

September 2020 This is literally the only thing i drew in september and it took all of like 10 mins lmao, I remember feeling just kinda burnt out and like i had no ideas by this point cause as we have figured out im *very* well known for being creative

October 2020 By this point it had been 3 months since i had done a full traditional drawing so i remember being like ummm i really should do *something* but not really actually liking this art lmao

November 2020 Feeling like i had wasted like the whole year drawing wise and feeling like i was capable of doing so much more i decided to try and do a full drawing everyday for this whole month and yeah! i fucking did that lmao, i feel like this was this month was the first time i ever really like, *understood* shading and how to use color ig? i also feel like i really kinda found out what i *actually* wanted to make this month so that’s very cool December 2020 You guys are gonna have to wait until these posts go up in january to see this art in high quality sorry not sorry Can i just?? can i just say how fucking good it felt to be able to make whatever i wanted without having to rush to finish it before midnight every day? and i really did just make what i wanted to meaning that this month i made more edgy shit then normal and just aghhh feels good man aLSO ALSO i got a drawing tablet mid way through this month so um yeah, still getting used to that lol overall im like, really actually kinda proud of how far my art has come within a year and i really don’t have any plans to stop soon! and lastly thank you to everyone who has followed me! (also shout out to like, all of you guys watching me from the begining because damn fan art does so much better then my oc art lmfao)

Stress, Anxiety, Depression these three usually happens to us humans for the past couple of years already in our generation many people died because of this mental disease. What is stress, anxiety and depression?

Stress is the starting stage when there is something that will pressure us. For example, people usually starts having stress with a lot of school requirements to do in order to pass it early. When everyday if we always got stress with the requirements that’s were anxiety comes because people may worry that cannot pass it on time or they will not execute it very well.

Anxiety is the next stage were people started to think negative to ourselves. We usually think of negativity that comes to our mind.

Depression is the critical stage were both anxiety and stress combine into one. Depression mostly happens if there’s a big problem on body of a human physically, psychologically, and mentally. Which it needs a lot of medication in order for a person to have a stable mental health but it may depend on the situation of the person. This GIF is an example if a person suddenly started to cry if something usually triggers him on his mind.

What are the medications for stress, anxiety and depression? For me it really depends on the situation of the person. Because not all these mental disorders will be need of medicine. Medicine is only needed when it becomes crucial and worst. Simply, you will just need a medical check-up from the psychologist, psychiatrist or even a guidance councilor before taking medicine that is prescribed from professionals. Sometimes, the medication of these three is love, care and support from family, friends, relatives and professionals because it talks about the behavior of a person and not all of these disorder will be needing medicines for them to be better. Here is another example of medicine that will help someone physically and mentally:

Hugging can be a huge impact to someone. Hugging is something we usually feel in real life in order to feel that we show our presence and love from our family and friends. Comfort someone with stress, anxiety and depression can be considered as a medicine.

My Opinion and experience:

In my experience way back senior high school, i’ve been struggling for my 2 years due to the toxic environment that i went through. Second, ever since i already have an issue with the family, i know that there is no such thing as a perfect or better family but there is such thing as a toxic family. My family is being toxic for almost 4 or 5 years and yet i choose to be strong in life because i know to myself that i still have hopes and dreams that i need to achieve in order to be success in life. I have no plans yet for the next chapter of my life after college i want to have a simple life just living alone, i don’t want to get involved with my family because i don’t deserve this kind of family and i will work hard and be more independent in life. My simple medication is just i always believe that my friends and my super friend God is always there for me. This experience reminds me of a song called Speechless by Naomi Scott, the lyrics said “All I know is I won't go speechless 'Cause I'll breathe When they try to suffocate me Don't you underestimate me 'Cause I know that I won't go speechless”. This really hits me hard and i always tell me to myself no to give up until i reach my goals in life.

This is the last part of my blog for now! I would like to thank my Professor for giving a consideration to do a blog instead of vlog. First and foremost, my internet connection couldn’t handle uploading a 10 min vlog of mine which it consist of 4.5GB due to the quality of the camera i use and the editing it was too much and i took 5-7 hours to upload it. On behalf on the other students of 1E3, We really miss you so much Ma’am Claudia Mendoza for the short term memories when it comes to face to face classes and i didn’t expect that i will learn a lot through my experiences and opinion and of course coming to my professor. I really wish this pandemic will end as early as possible so we can continue with the discussions face to face and make this semester memorable! Cold Canyon- Saison

This is the fourth batch I’ve brewed of this recipe as I try to hone in on my ideal saison. The most recent change I’ve made, which is a big one, is to switch the yeast strain from Wyeast’s French Saison 3711 to their Belgian Saison 3724. I’ve brewed a couple batches with 3724 and although I’m still getting a handle on this yeast I am really happy with it so far.

I fell in love with 3711 at the first brewery I worked at, it was our go-to for saison and we even brewed our witbier with it. Back then I found 3711 to give a super clean profile with a great balance of punchy fruitiness and spice without being too “hot” with alcohol or muddled like a lot of other saison yeasts. When fermented on the cooler end we found at the brewery that 3711 created a unique orangey spice. People swore that we put orange zest and coriander into our witbier when in fact it was all yeast character they were tasting. When I started doing trials of this saison recipe I started with 3711 but after a few batches was getting a completely different character out of it. Each batch had this astringent bitterness to it that was like a combination of rust and soil. I wasn’t sure at first if what I was tasting was hop-related or perhaps an unhealthy yeast pitch, but after a few batches and some research I decided what I was tasting was the “phenolic bite” that is said to come from certain saison yeast strains. Still haven’t figured out why the character I got from 3711 is so different than how I remember it from a few years ago at the brewery, but at any rate I decided to move on from it.

I had started looking into a new yeast to try when I was out at one of my favorite bars in LA, The Hermosillo. The Hermosillo is the original home to Highland Park Brewery, probably the best brewery in LA, and in addition to HPB beers always has an awesome selection of guest beers which often includes a saison or mixed culture beer from Perennial Artisan Ales from St. Louis. I had a glass of Perennial’s Prism, a dry-hopped saison, and immediately knew that whatever yeast they used in it was exactly what I was looking for. Prism had a great balance of yeast fruitiness and spice that worked well with the heavy hopping and a unique mouthfeel that softer that most saison. From Perennial’s website (http://www.perennialbeer.com/beer-lister/) I found that they use a Belgian saison strain so I took a chance with Wyeast’s option (https://wyeastlab.com/yeast-strain/belgian-saison).

After a few brews with 3724 I am fairly confident that it is indeed the yeast that Perennial uses in Prism. I’m pretty happy with the results so far. I might not be completely sold as it is a bit finicky. The yeast tends to stall out in the 1.020-1.030s halfway through fermentation. It will eventually finish out but it takes some time and/or warming the beer into the 90s Fahrenheit. 3724 also seems to land at a higher FG than other saison yeasts I’ve brewed with. I’ve read it does get down close to 1.000 but I haven’t seen it get that far. (Rather I haven’t been patient enough to see it get that far). But maybe the attenuation will improve as I harvest and re-pitch it a few times.

Brewed 3/18/2020

Water Profile:

.5 tsp Calcium Sulphate and 1.5 tsp Calcium Chloride into 6 gallons strike water

Yeast:

Wyeast 3724 (2nd Gen)

2 Liter starter. Stirred 48 hours. Refrigerated overnight and decanted. Yeast “bloomed” on brew day with first runnings.

Grist:

Weyermann Floor Malted Bohemian Pilsner Malt- 6 lbs (55%)

Weyermann Pale Wheat Malt- 3 lbs (27%)

Flaked Oats- 2 lbs (18%)

Raw Organic Honey- 1 lb at end of boil

Boil: 60 minute

Magnum Hallertauer (13% aa) - 1 oz @ 60

Magnum Hallertauer - 1 oz @ 15

Wildflower Honey - 1 lb @ 10

Mash pH: 5.17

60 min O2 through aeration pump. Pitched yeast and put in fermentation chamber at 77F with no temp control on it (free-rise)

OG: 1.046 - pH 5.07

FG: 1.012 - pH 3.8 (as I mentioned before, could probably have waited for the yeast to attenuate more fully but the beer tasted clean so I decided to keg as I’m under quarantine and NEED BEER)

Kegged 3/30/2020 w/ ~2oz ground coriander

Notes:

4.5% ABV

Super aromatic, coriander and cinnamon.

Silky mouthfeel, soft on the palette, 3724 give a super unique pillowy-marshmallow-like sweetness that balances well with the spicier notes it also creates.

Overall I’m stoked on this beer as a base saison to continue tweaking. "Farmhouse” (whatever that means) styles are my current brewing obsession. Specifically the lower ABV, refreshing, rustic, I’m about that shit. I feel like the best farmhouse beers have a level of flavor and complexity from letting yeast do it’s thing in combination with adjuncts like wheat and oats, and plenty of hop flavor, that you don’t find in other low ABV styles. To me this beer drinks almost like a dry white wine or cider and as it warms in the glass it just becomes more aromatic and punchy.

Been playing with the visual component of beers more lately. Above is something I threw together with this one as I was first tasting it. Something about the smell and mineral flavor of the beer makes me think about winter, COLD AIR, throat chilling humidity, crunchy frozen grass under your feet, river rocks. Thought it was a funny play on the stories about farmhouse beers that they were traditionally low ABV refreshing beers made for the farmworkers in rural Europe. Always thought that was a dope visual. A bunch of tired farmworkers cresting a hill on the way back to the barn at the end of a hot summer day. Sitting down in the shade and tapping a wooden cask of crisp, rustic saison. Imagining how satisfying that would be. With Cold Canyon I’m picturing a solo creekside walk in the afternoon in the dead of winter. The sun is about to set and the ground begins to freeze agin after only having thawed a couple hours prior. You sit on the one dry rock you can find by the barely flowing, almost entirely frozen creek. Pull out the thermos you packed this morning and pour a portion into the lid. It foams and crackles with carbonation despite having sat in your bag all day. It’s colder on your lips now than it was out of the fridge that morning. A light breeze blows through the bushes nearby and as you take your first sip a waft of floral aromatics from the only remaining live blossoms around for miles hits your nose. A perfect moment of solitude.

Digital art skin coloring tutorial

Just thought I’d share my methods for coloring skin in paint tool SAI. Rather than formal image descriptions I’m just going to describe each step normally and make note of specific tool settings as needed.

So first just set up some outline for whoever you’re drawing. I just did a random unnamed elf here. Since I opted for a lineless finish, my outline is kinda sketchy and turned to a low opacity. I also did all my color on a single layer, so establish a background color under your lines, this helps keep the final image cleaner

with my basic acrylic brush I lay out the base skin tone (a reddish tan in this case) My acrylic brush uses these settings: min size 10%, density 100, rough round 2 brush texture at 38, blending 49, dilution 36, persistence 45.It doesn’t matter if your base skin tone is a little sloppy, you can blend it smooth or keep painting it until it’s as solid as you want it to be

now, to lay out my shadows the only thing I change is the brush effect. keeping the same color, change your brush from normal to deep and lay out some general shadows around the jaw, neck, nose, etc. anywhere opposite the light source. Then switch to multiply and lay out the darker shadows, changing brush size as needed for detail shading like around the eyes or nose. Soften the edges of the shadows and blend it all together by changing your brush to vivid. you can also use the vivid brush to establish blush tone to liven up cheeks, ears, and lips

Keeping your brush on vivid, pick a highlight color (I used a light blue) and establish the bright areas, like cheek bones, lower lip, nose bridge, and anywhere else that’s directly hit by the light source. just like the shadows, blend and soften your highlights with the base skin tone on vivid.

For the hair I picked a dark almost black color. keeping it slightly lighter than black allows me to shade it effectively. my hair tool is a brush with these settings: min size 70%, density 100, brush texture uneven sr at 64, blending 35 or lower, dilution 12, persistence 21. I use my basic acrylic brush to block in the hair color and then use the hair tool to give it texture and fill it out. multiply the hair color for shadows, vivid the highlight color for lighter areas. If you use a lighter hair base color you can use it on vivid to create more depth of color.

Since I went lineless, I took my pencil tool on multiply with the base skin color and traced out important lines before deleting my outline layer. my pencil tool uses these settings: min size 0%, density 75, brush texture spread at 100, other texture parchment at 60.

After that I just repeat the steps with the same colors to make more detailed shadows and highlights, rendering it all out until it looks done. I use the pencil tool to establish things like eyebrows, eye shape and pupils, details of the nose, mouth, and ears. It can be used in the highlight color as well to clarify the lightest edges.

STOP WATCHING THE OFFICE: other things to watch this summer

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE ZIE OFFICE!! But as much as it pains me to say, the office isn’t a personality trait, so I’ve decided to make a list (e.g. Buzzfeed lists) of my top 16 recommendations for TV and podcasts to watch and listen to—since we all need to stop being basic bitches and FOCUS!

I hope you listen to me when I say these shows are amazing and actually watch them if you have the time. I'm doing this because I care about you and your TV preferences.

I'll break it up by streaming service, starting with Netflix then Hulu, YouTube, then Podcasts last.

*I apologize in advance for the lousy grammar and lack of editing, but also not really sorry bout it.

1. Arrested Development

Okay, number one on my list is Arrested development. A lot of people I talk to, especially in my age range, don’t know what the fuck I’m talking about, but this show is GENIUS... on G*D. I’ve watched it around four times now, and each time it gets better and better. I read somewhere that it was created as a satire of Bush-era incompetence and idiotic hanky-panky during the Iraq war. But at its heart, the show’s about a rich family with four adult children—who are all goofy and quirky. Their dad get’s thrown in jail for doing business with terrorists or something like that and Micheal Bluth (Jason Bateman) has to get them out of weird ass situations.

This show has a LOT of jokes and long running bits that you kind of have to pay attention to to get the storyline. It’s hella META, and at times, can be really weird (see George Micheal Bluth and Maeby Fünke’s little Les Cousins Dangereux). In conclusion, however, Jason Bateman is hot, Micheal Cera is hot, and Tony Hale is ~super~ hot.

P.S. a lot of memes come from this show that you would know but don’t know that it’s from this show.

2. The Haunting of Hill House

Scary as f*ck! Do not watch yourself or u will die. I warned you.

I'm not going to spoil it too much, but it's about a family living in a spooky house and crazy ass shit keeps happening to them. They eventually move out, but even 20 years after--when the kids are all adults--the haunting of the house follows them.

There's even a 17 min scene that they shot in one shot!!!!!!!! That's wiLD.

3. Schitt's Creek

Number of Seasons: 5

Number of Episodes: 66

Hours to binge: 25

Yet another show about a rich family loosing all their money. A bit different than Arrested Development. This show is about a rich ass family loosing all their money and resorting to live in Schitt's Creek--a town in Nowhere, U.S.A. the family bought as a JOKE. It's a really easy watch. The characters in this show are SO un-relatable and mean it's hilarious--only if u f*ck wit dry humor tho.

Here's my favorite character, Alexis Rose just being iconic:

Give it a try, the first few episodes are rocky, but it gets better. That's a guarantee.

4. American Vandal

A lot of people already probs watch this show, but it's honestly so beautifully written. The show is an homage to Making a Murderer, a true crime mockumentary of sorts. It follows two guys, Sam and Peter as they try to figure out a mystery: WHO DREW D*CKS ON THE TEACHER'S CARS?

Also, JIMMY TATRO!!!!!

Season 2 follows a different crime and it's... it's poopy.

5. Mindhunter

Number of Episodes: 10

Hours to binge: 9

YUH. Just started this, already on ep. 8, very interesting. Mindhunter is about the first FBI agents to use profiling to catch serial killers. THE CHARACTERS IN THIS SHOW WALKED SO THAT HOTCH AND REID COULD RUN.

This show is no joke and based on true serial killers like the coed killer, the shoe fetish killer, and BTK, it's very.... very creepy.

ALWAYS carry pepper spray on ya, that's fer sher.

6. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

One of the greatest television series of all time about two baller best fraaands who get into the schemes of the century in New York City. Illana, a ferocious kween wit ZERO f*cks, and Abbi, an aspiring artiste with a great ass. The two work min-wage jobs in NYC (so they're broke) and they're just trying to find luv and a good bacon egg and cheese.

Think Sex and the City but fresh and new and wild. Abbi and Ilana's dialogue and schemes are relatable af, it makes it seem like you're there with them. Their co-dependency is so powerful... yet at moments, a lil destructive. I once had a friendship like this.. and let me tell you... co-dependency is a wild ride.

Some of the funniest scenes in this show is just of them talking on the street. Sometimes, when I'm walking with my friends, I pretend like I'm in the show lol.

I recommend you start from beginning to end because of the endless callbacks and running gags, but if not start with season 3, episode 7 B&B-NYC. Blake Griffin is in it.

10. Community

Number of Seasons: 6

Number of Episodes: 110

Hours to binge: 41

What can I say about this show to make you watch it? Well first of all the fact that Childish Gambino (Donald Glover) is in it should already have you clicking over to Hulu by now.

Community is about seven quirky misfits: a disbarred lawyer, a failed housewife, an activist everyone hates, a racist old man, a stupid jock who lost his sports scholarship, a high-strung know-it-all who took too much adderall, and abed. They all end up at Greendale Community College with a phsyco spanish teacher and a colorful dean.

This show is kind of a parody of a sitcom, and it is VERY meta--often referring to themselves as TV show characters. The seven get into hilarious adventures and obstacles along the way. The show also genre hops from time to time. For example, they have a whole pillow fort vs. blanket fort episode (Pillows and Blankets, season 3, episode 4) in a Ken Burns documentary style, an episode in claymation for Christmas (Abed's Uncontrollable Christmas, season 2, episode 11), and a bunch of paintball episodes in style of Quentin Tarantino and StarWars.

Again, you should start at the beginning, but if you want to get into it quickly, I really loved Pillows and Blankets (season 3, episode 4).

11. The Mindy Project

As a "petite asian woman" who is not petite, this show is very relatable. About finding love and eating good in the big apple.

P.S. If you don't like Kelly from the office, you're dead 2 m3.

12. Brooklyn 99

Cool. coolcoolcoolcool. Jake Peralta is the greatest detective/genius.

13. Superstore

If Walmart and the office had a baby and it was incompetent.

Jimmy Tatro, Cody Ko, Getter, and Nick Colletti. What more do you want? LITERALLY WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT?

The unnecessary drama and endless quotable jokes in this show leads you wanting more with only 14 episodes totaling at around four hours.
