Fuck what or where can I vent about this...
WARNING: IF YOU DON’T LIKE OTHER PEOPLES OPINIONS OR HAVING A THOUGHTFUL DISCUSSION, THEN THIS POST AIN’T FOR YOU! MOVE ON!
we good?
Are the Radicals gone?
yes?
good.
Honestly, America has gone to shit since Biden came into office. Actually no... It’s been shit since Obama’s administration. just a constant shit show, an awful comedy of errors.
I legit no longer feel safe or comfortable in my own country.
I feel like I am not being heard as a US citizen, and how I vote or what I say no longer matters because some rich Democrat or rich Republican decided it just doesn’t. I feel like nothing I say or do matters anymore and that if I speak at all, people are either going to label me as a “Bigot.” or “TERF.” on one end or “Snowflake.” “SJW.” on the other. Or just flat out be told to “pick a side.” when both are shit.
One is spray painted gold.
The other is covered in literal gold.
And I hate it, I hate every single second of it. the fact I have to constantly pick the lesser of two evils and that if I vote “wrong” or “Wrong think” people are just going to silence me. In a country of free speech. It’s ass backwards but its true.
so here’s some stuff that may or may not ruffle your jimmies:
1) The Riots are and ALWAYS will be unwarranted and should DEFINITELY be stopped:
I feel like it should go without saying, but apparently this is a controversial statement... which it shouldn’t be. Look, you were taught as a kid that stealing, breaking, arson, assault, battery, destruction of private and public property is bad and unacceptable. So why do you think that suddenly changes when you’re an adult? You still got spanked and/or sent into timeout didn’t you? You got disciplined (not punished there IS a difference) for it right? Well as an adult, news flash! It’s the government instead of your parents who discipline your shitty behavior. (Also furthermore: ACAB just helps the rich since their the only people who can AFFORD personal protection, so Defunding police would just help criminals find victims and get away with a variety of crimes. Since there’s no longer any scruples to prevent this.)
Do I believe that the national guard and riot police should’ve been called in:
Yes.
Do I believe that EVERYONE involved was being shitty?
No.
Do I believe that in cases like these Potentially fatal force is nessecary to control a growingly restless and violent crowd?
AbsoFUCKINlutely!
Do I believe children should be at large protests?
No.
Do I believe the entire situation could’ve been avoided if people ignored Social Media?
Fuck, Yes.
But sadly I and the rest of us do not live in a perfect vacuum of morale and decency, which brings me to another point.
Can we please stop the whole Marxism/Communism trend? Please?
Tldr of my opinion on this issue: If it doesn’t work the first time it won’t work for the *insert whatever number it is* time either. just let this fantasy die already PLEASE!
my actual explanation on how I feel about it:
So Marxism is a type of Communism. Which if you didn’t know, Communism is the extreme of Socialism... and the Extreme/Radicalized version of literal ANYTHING! ISN’T GOOD! FULL STOP!
I honestly feel like the current education system fails to teach kids the issue as to WHY Communism and more accurately Marxism just... doesn’t work. Like at all, not even a little bit. But in order to talk about Marxism and why it just fails in a spectacular way we need to take a Rrrrreally old piece of text into consideration.
Plato’s utopia.
Plato based his utopian world off of a fantasy, a morale void, a perfect vacuum that was the foundation to a squeaky clean world. Of rainbows, gumdrops and candy cane frogs. where everyone was a productive and virtuous citizen that strived to better mankind.
however it suffers a major flaw.
that’s just not how Humanity let alone how the universe works in general. We don’t live in that perfect virtuous vacuum Plato so desperately wanted us too.
Humans are by default, infallible, selfish, self centered, bratty, judgmental pricks who no matter how virtuous have dark and destructive tendencies. Whether it’s aimed towards ones self or their community, it doesn’t matter. Humans are just naturally assholes and if you don’t believe me go sit down, pick any point in history and just listen. History is filled to the brim with examples of why we don’t live in a perfect vacuum of virtue. Even with the best of intentions people still make one another miserable whether they know it or not. People are greedy, selfish, self serving and otherwise shitty one way or another. so ultimately even if its intent if founded in the purest, kindest, sweetest whatever have yous. It won’t work.
Similar to how Plato’s utopian society doesn’t work, neither does Marxism nor Communism. it realize to heavily on that Vacuum that just doesn’t exist.
if you don’t believe me, just ask anyone from a Communist/Marxist country or if you’d rather read instead. Go read “Animal Farm” and come back, its okay I’ll wait.
On the other hand this absolutely DOES NOT mean I am okay or fine with Facism or really ANY radicalism in general. if it isn’t clear already.
not that brings me to the most controversial opinion I have and one not a lot of people (yourselves included) won’t like me for (most likely)
My stance on BLM:
I.
Don’t
Like.
Supremacy.
Of.
ANY.
Kind.
And you know what, that’s just how I feel. If your movement involves challenging something by doing more of the same thing by design but just a different coat of paint. then no. I don’t like your thoughts or your movement because that’s just toxic and literally detrimental to everyone around you.
if you feel like the only way to fight “White supremacy” is with “Black supremacy” then expect me to think your a horrible (closeted) racist. The people who bang the table the loudest about an issue, are usually the people causing it in the first place. So how do we solve the issue of racism, the same way you deal with terrorists actually. By making fun of them and mocking their awful opinions.
Everyone is special and one of a kind, and even considering the notion of it not and taking it seriously is beyond the scope of any sane logic one should have. Treating racism with even a monikerum, a snibblie of seriousness is only feeding into and perpetuating the said issue.
if you make fun of it, like how we make fun of outdated ideals like Sexism and Terrorism. laugh at the people who do toxic shit, they fucking HATE being mocked or laughed at since they honestly want you to be a misreble as they are. So don’t let them. Also education is good, ignorance bad.
anyways may write a part 2 later, my second dose of the covid shot (moderna) kicked in and I am suffering...

"Why are people so hostile towards President Donald Trump?"
Chris O'Leary:
Before you pass my answer off as “Another Liberal Snowflake” consider that 1.) I'm an independent centrist who has voted Republican way more often in my life than Democrat, and 2.) If you want to call someone who spent the entire decade of his 20’s serving in the Marine Corps a snowflake, I’d be ready to answer the question what did you do with your 20’s?
Why Liberals (And not-so liberals) are against President Trump.
A.) He lies. A LOT. Politifact rates 69% of the words he speaks as “Mostly False or worse” Only 17% of the things he says get a “Mostly True” or better rating. That is an absolutely unbelievable number. How he doesn’t speak more truth by mistake is beyond me. To put it in context, Obama’s rating was 26% mostly false or worse, and I had a problem with that. Many of Trump’s former business associates report that he has always been a compulsive liar, but now he’s the President of the United States, and that’s a problem. And this is a man who expects you to believe him when he points at other people and says “They’re lying”
B.) He’s an authoritarian populist, not a conservative. He advances regressive social policy while proposing to expand federal spending and federalist authority over states, both of which conservatives are supposed to hate.
C.) He pretends at Christianity to court the Religious Right but fails to live anything resembling a Christ-Like Life.
D.) His nationalist “America First” message effectively alienates us and removes us from our place as leaders in the international community.
E.) His ideas on “Keeping us safe” are all thinly veiled ideas to remove our freedoms, he is, after all, an authoritarian first. They also are simply bad ideas.
F.) He couldn’t pass a 3rd-grade civics exam. He doesn't’ know what he’s doing. He doesn't understand how international relations work, he doesn’t understand how federal state or local governments work, and every time someone tries to “Run it like a business” it’s a spectacular failure. See Colorado Springs’ recent history as an example. The Short, Unhappy Life of a Libertarian Paradise And that was a businessman with a MUCH better business track record than Trump. We are talking about a man who lost money owning a freaking gambling casino.
G.) He behaves unethicaly and always has. As a businessman, he constantly left in his wake unpaid contractors and invoices, litigation, broken promises, whatever he could get away with.
H.) He is damaging our relationships with our best international friends while kissing up to nations that do not have our best interests in mind. To his question “Wouldn't’ it be great to have better relations with Russia?” The answer is Yes. But it is RUSSIA who needs to earn that, who must stop doing the things that are damaging to that relationship, or we are simply weaker for it.
I.) He has never seen a shortcut he didn't like, and you can’t take shortcuts in government. “Nuclear Option, Remove the Filibuster, I’ll change the Constitution by Executive Order…Don…what happens when you remove the filibuster and the other side retakes the majority in the Senate? Suddenly want that filibuster back? What happens if you manage to change the Constitution by Executive Order and an Anti-2A President wins the next election?
J.) He behaves and has always behaved as an unabashed racist. Yes, I’ve seen your favorite meme that claims he was never accused of racism before the Democrats…Absolutely false. Donald Trump’s long history of racism, from the 1970s to 2019 See the Central Park 5, the lawsuits and fines resulting from his refusal to lease to black tenants, the 1992 lost appeal trying to overturn penalties for removing black dealers from tables, his remarks to the house native American affairs subcommittee in 1993. The man sees and treats racial groups of people as monoliths.
K.) He is systematically steamrolling regulations specifically designed to keep a disaster like the 2007 subprime mortgage crisis from happening again.
L.) He speaks and acts like a demagogue. He sees the Legislative and Judicial branches of government as inconveniences, blows up at criticism no matter how deserved and actively tries to countermand constitutional processes, not to mention attempts to blackmail and coerce people who are saying negative things about him
M.) His choices for top positions, with the exception of Gen. Mattis, who is a gem, have been horrendous. A secretary of Education without a resume that would get her hired as a small town grammar school principal, A secretary of Energy who didn't know the Department of Energy was responsible for nuclear reserves, an EPA head whose biggest accomplishments to date had been suing the EPA on multiple occasions, an FCC head who while working for Verizon actively lobbied to kill net neutrality, and an Attorney General who thinks pot is “nearly as bad as heroin” and asked Congress for permission to go after legal pot businesses in states where it is legal. (There goes that great Republican States rights rally cry again, right? *Crickets*) An Interim AG after Firing his First AG who’s appointment is probably unconstitutional.
N.) He denies scientific fact. Ever notice that the only people you hear denying climate change are politicians and lobbyists? 99% of actual scientists studying the issue agree that it’s real, man-made and caused by greenhouse gasses. Ever notice that every big disaster movie starts with a bunch of politicians in a room ignoring a scientist's warning?
0.) He does not have the temperament to lead this nation. He is Thin Skinned, childish, and a bully, never mind misogynistic, boorish, rude, and incapable of civil discourse.
P.) He still does not understand that the words he speaks, or tweets, are the official position of 1/3 of the US government, and so does not govern his words. He still thinks when he speaks it’s good ol’ Donald Trump. It’s not. It’s the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. You have probably spread a meme or two around talking about how no president’s every word has ever been dissected before…YES, THEY ALWAYS HAVE. It’s just that every other president in our lifetime has understood the importance of his words and took great care to govern his speech. Trump blurts out whatever comes to his mind then complains when people talk about what a dumb thing that was to say.
Q.) He’s unqualified. If you owned a small business and were looking for someone to manage it, and an unnamed resume came across your desk and you saw 6 bankruptcies, showing a man who had failed to make money running CASINOS, would you hire him? He is a very poor businessman. This is a man it has been estimated would have been worth $10 BILLION more if he’d just taken what his father had given him, invested it in Index Funds and left it alone.
R.) He is President. But he refuses to take a leadership position and understand that he is everyone’s President. Conservatives complain about liberals chanting “Not my President” while Trump himself behaves as if no one but his supporters matter.
S.) He’s a blatant hypocrite. He spent 8 years bitching Obama out for his family trips, or golfing, or any time he took for himself, and what does he do? He was already on his 20th golf outing in APRIL of his 1st year in office. He constantly rants about respect for the military, yet can’t be bothered to attend the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day because of a little rain. (And that excuse about Marine One not being able to fly in the rain is HILARIOUS.)
T.) He’s a misogynist. It's not really ok in this day and age to be a misogynist, but it’s not a huge deal if you’re a private citizen. It’s a pretty big deal if you hate half the people you’re elected to lead. The disdain for women seeps out of his …whatever…. and he just can’t hide it.
U.) Face it. In any other election “Grab Em’ By the Pussy” would have been the end of that candidate’s chances. Back in the 90’s I used to marvel about how Teflon Bill Clinton was. I no longer do. The fact that he managed to slip by on that is as much a statement about how much people hate Hillary Clinton as it is about what is wrong with politics in this country right now.
V.) He has one response to a differing opinion. Attack. A good leader listens to criticism, to different points of view, is capable of self-reflection, tries to guide people to his point of view, and when necessary stands his ground and defends his convictions. Any of that sound like Trump? His default is not to Lead, its’ to attack. Scorched Earth. The Jim Acosta reaction is a good example. There was no defense of his convictions when Acosta was asking him repeated questions about his rhetoric on the caravan. His response was to attack Acosta.
W.) He takes credit for everything positive while deflecting blame for everything negative. Look at him with the Stock Market. He’s been bragging about it since day one, and to give credit where credit is due, speculation on coming deregulation early in his presidency did fuel some rapid growth, but to pretend that it’s all him, that we’re not in the 9th year of the longest bull market in history and THEN, when the standard market volatility that deregulation inevitably brings about starts to show up? Yeah. Look at yesterday. Hey! Stock Markets losing because the Democrats won! Do I need to bring out the Stock market chart for the last 10 Years again?
X.) He emboldens the worst among us. Counter-protesters are slammed into by a car while countering actual Nazi rally, and the response is there’s fault on “Both Sides” The media is at fault for a nut job sending them and Donald’s favorite targets pipe bombs. The truth is not all Republicans, not all Trump Supporters are racist, fascist lunatics. Many are just taken in by the bombastic personality and are living in an information bubble made worse by the fact that they unfollow anyone and ignore any source of information that makes them feel uncomfortable. People on the left do that too. The Biggest problem the right has right now is that the worst of the Right is the loudest and the most in your face, and the actual right, especially the Freaking PRESIDENT needs to be standing up and saying No. Those are not our values.
Y.) He seems to think the Constitution of The United States, the document that IS who we are, the document he took an oath to support and defend is some sort of inconvenience. He demonstrates a complete lack of understanding of Constitution, from believing he can alter the 14th through executive order, to thinking The free exercise clause in the first amendment somehow supersedes the establishment clause (not that he really understands either) or that the free exercise clause only applies to Christians. Or his attacks on freedom of expression and the press. He repeatedly makes it clear that if he’s read them, he does not understand Articles 1–3, and that’s something he really should have before he took the job, because they’re not going away.
Z.) I’ll use Z for something I do blame him for, but the rest of us have to carry the blame too. Polarization. This country is more politically polarized than I can remember in my lifetime. Some of you who are a few years older than I may remember how it was in the late 60’s when construction workers in New York were being applauded for beating up hippies, I think it’s pretty close to that right now, but that was before my time. And he is the cause of much of the current level polarization, but also the result. It didn't’ start with Trump. We’ve been going down this road I think since the eruption of the Tea Party in the early years of the Obama Administration. I do hope the tide turns before it gets much worse because the thing that scares me more than anything is what if that keeps going the way it has been? "

────── ·❆· ──────
Your days had been filled with patching things up with Steve (you had moved in with him within a day), getting to know Wanda and Vision, trying to redeem yourself in Natasha’s eyes and being teased by Sam Wilson in the friendliest way. The days were full of hesitance, awkward conversations, bashful looks, but also of laughter and sense of camaraderie.
You would train with the team too and interact with the soldiers and staff at the compound. You couldn’t but notice some recruits shooting you curious and hungry looks as you were a new piece of meat at the base – and mostly you couldn’t help but grin mentally at their suggestive smiles freezing on their lips as Captain America himself casted them a murderous look. Live was good.
The only thing truly bothering you (apart from no contact to your parents, naturally), was the lack of response to your attempts at reconnecting with Matt. Before you had disappeared, you would sometimes hang out with him, occasionally with his colleagues too, and you would talk about everything. Sometimes you would lend him a helping hand when dealing with the crime in Hell’s Kitchen despite Steve being a bit sour about it.
But now you had been trying to get in touch with Matt and he just wouldn’t answer.
Of course, he could have just been pissed at you, but you sensed there was more – you had read about Frank Castle’s trial Nelson and Murdock had blown (especially Matt, actually), about a shooting and a hostage situation with Daredevil on the scene, and you were truly worried about him.
So when an invitation from Tony to an event he was hosting at the Tower came about a month after you had arrived to the compound, you practically begged Steve to come, even when you could get to the centre of the city in many different ways and for various different reasons. You weren’t ashamed to share your ulterior motives – and Steve was being strangely understanding. After all, he knew what it was like to hear radio silence from someone he cared about.
You headed to the Tower an evening before the party, Tony greeting you enthusiastically and directing you to your old rooms which remained almost untouched. You weren’t surprised, but it left you touched anyway.
With Steve’s blessing and a kiss on your forehead, you headed to Hell’s Kitchen in hope to reconnect with your friend.
When he opened the door after what could be five minutes of your insistent knocking, you froze.
Sure, you had expected him to look like crap – Nelson and Murdock had apparently fell apart and he must have been exhausted by the rather recent event, but… you weren’t ready for the empty eyes and the bruise-like circles under them. He greeted you in loose sweatpants and a hoodie, thick fluffy socks, hair a mess, dark stubble on his jaw and… the eyes.
You gulped, trying to get it together as your heart felt like beating its way out of your chest. Jesus, Matt. You took a deep breath – before you could even open your mouth, he cut you off with husky voice.
“Leave me alone.”
A chill ran down your spine as your heard him speak up. The emotion behind his voice – deeply buried under the thick layer of flatness – was enough to make your head spin and crush your soul.
“Christ, Matt,” you breathed out, your eyes stinging at the sight of your friend hurting so badly. He didn’t call you out on the blasphemy.
“I asked you to leave. I would appreciate if you listened.”
With those words, he closed the door – or tried to, while you stuck your foot in the doorway and your hand shot up on instinct. An annoyed expression twisted his emotionless face. It got you wonder – for some reason it felt familiar.
Too familiar, you realized.
“Don’t… please don’t do that,” you pleaded, your palm pushing against the wood of the door. He didn’t bother with using too much strength to hold it on place – or perhaps he didn’t even have more to spend. “If you’re pissed at me, that’s okay. I know I deserve it. But don’t do this to me, not because you think it’s better for me to be pushed away.”
Because that was exactly what he was doing. You weren’t stupid and you had done your reading. You knew Karen had been one of the hostages. You could imagine what it had done to him, knowing a person he cared for deeply had been in danger because of him. You knew that feeling too. All too well.
“Sounds rich, coming from you,” he replied sternly, pushing a bit harder at both fronts; trying to shut the door and making an appeal at your consciousness by calling you a hypocrite without actually saying it.
“I did what I did to protect people.”
Only short silence followed your statement. When you heard his next words, you wished it lasted longer.
“A woman died to save my life. If it wasn’t for me, she would have still been alive. But she was too close. Of all people, you should understand. And you should leave now.”
“I’m so sorry, Matt,” you whispered honestly, just another cup to pour into the ocean of your guilt. He had been suffering and you hadn’t been there. What else was new?
He chuckled humourlessly.
“That’s cute, but it doesn’t change a thing. I’m no good to be around and now we both know why. Go home to your boyfriend, Snowflake.”
Your heart skipped a beat as he blatantly mentioned you and Steve, using the endearment venomously. It made you feel as guilty as crept out – guilty, because… well, you and Matt could have been a thing if you hadn’t chosen Steve over him, and crept out, because at the end of the day, you knew you would never get over the extent of his abilities. He could probably smell Steve on you, yours and his pheromones hinting him the nature of your relationship even so shortly after your return. You couldn’t help but blush at the thought.
But the shyness was short-lived, soon replaced by righteous indignation and determination. You understood Matt was grieving. And that he was – God forbid someone called him out on it – scared. You knew all of those feelings and you were painfully aware of what they did to a person. Just like you were goddamn sure that isolation did no good.
“You’re right. I do understand what you’re doing and why. And it would be totally hypocritical of me to judge you for doing the same thing I once did. But it took my friends two years to find my hideout and show me I was wrong – and you don’t have to make the same mistake. You can save the precious time.”
He scoffed, trying to hide the strange gleam in his eye you had caused; you could tell your words had affected him, even if a little.
“I’m here, Matt,” you continued, letting a softer note into your voice. “And I will be here when you decide to call me, maybe even a little sooner, because I care about you. I’m sorry for your loss. I’ll see you around, Matt.”
And you spun on your heels, leaving him standing in the doorway, apparently stunned. He didn’t say goodbye or closed the door as long as you were within earshot. Maybe not a while after. You weren’t sure what it meant.
You were halfway to the Tower when a ding announced a received text. You landed on the ground a bit ungracefully, pulling your phone out with impatience, mentally thanking Tony for making it happen that you still had the same number. Your lips spread in a relieved smile as you read it, turning the very same direction you came from and heading back.
Too soon to ask for your visit?

CS JJ Day 27: My True Love Gave to Me (1/1)
A/N: This began life as a Secret Santa gift, but I had to abandon it halfway through when my first giftee went AWOL and it didn’t fit the desires of my new giftee.  However, I really enjoyed this story and decided to finish it as my entry for this year’s @csjanuaryjoy!  Thank you so much, mods, for organizing this event and facilitating all the joy!  This a small, Christmas-time, neighbors AU and I hope you enjoy!
AO3
                                                        ~*~
Emma Swan knew that she tended to be a bit of a Grinch during the holiday season. She’d spent too many Christmases watching happy families celebrating while whatever foster family she was with barely acknowledged her existence with gifts of second-hand clothes to develop the warm, fuzzy feelings people associated with the season. Not all of the families were like that, of course, but few had bothered to put real effort into presents.  Only Ingrid, the woman who had tried desperately to adopt Emma but was denied by the state, had ever given her gifts that really meant anything when she was young.
She spent Christmas with her chosen family of friends now and had received a plethora of thoughtful gifts, but she still hadn’t been able to bring herself to really care about the holiday.
Given her general disregard for winter festivities, it was quite a shock to come home one day and find that her apartment, in which she lived alone, looked like the Christmas aisle of a department store had exploded inside of it.
Soft blue lights twinkled in her windows and garland hung from almost every available shelf or ledge. The side table by her front door now sported a festive red and green quilted runner and a reindeer shaped dish held the miscellaneous change and spare key that usually were strewn haphazardly on the table’s surface. With a sigh, she dropped her keyring with the others.
Taking a deep breath to prepare herself, Emma proceeded into her home. A tree, an honest to god real tree, now dominated one corner of her living room.  Gold tinsel and bright, colorful lights wrapped around it and simple round ornaments of red and silver hung from the branches. Her heart dropped, just a little, when she saw that there were no gifts piled underneath.
There was, however, a nutcracker sitting on her coffee table, and a small cat asleep on the back of her couch.
“Killian, you asshole,” Emma growled.  The cat’s presence revealed the identity of the orchestrator behind the home makeover.
Now awake, the cat, a lovely calico named Tinkerbelle, stood, stretched, and jumped off the couch to rub herself against Emma’s ankles.
“Tink, did you help your owner with this… this… travesty?”
The cat just stretched and rubbed herself against Emma’s pant legs. With a chuckle, Emma lifted the interloper and settled her against her chest.  That elicited a loud purr and a head-butt against her chin.
Tinkerbelle belonged to Emma’s upstairs neighbor and friend, Killian Jones.  The day he’d moved into the third floor, Tink had shown her displeasure at the move and escaped.  Emma, just home from grocery shopping, heard a very irate “Bloody hell!” echo down the stairwell before a small ball of fur ran right into the bags she had set down on the landing in order to unlock her apartment door.  After a quick scramble and a few scratches, Emma had extracted Tinkerbelle from the bags just as a sweaty man came bounding down the stairs after her.
Emma held out the hissing cat as she asked, “does this belong to you?”
“Aye, that she does.”  With a sigh, he had taken the pissed off cat and held her firmly against himself with one arm.  The other he held out as he introduced himself as Killian Jones, her new neighbor.
“Emma Swan.” She shook his offered hand.
She’d stared in shock as he lifted her hand and placed a quick kiss on the knuckles.
“You have my thanks, Emma, for your assistance. May I offer you an IOU for a drink, for some time in the future after I have unpacked?”
Emma blinked before finally replying, “That isn’t necessary.”
“Maybe not, but the offer is open.  I will let you know when my apartment is fit for company.” With that, Killian had made his way back up the stairs and Emma had to scold herself for admiring the way his jeans hugged his backside. The man had just moved in; she shouldn’t be ogling him like a teenager.  Even if his accent sent shivers down her back.
Eventually she’d taken Killian up on his offer of a drink. That had led to more drinks, casual dinners, and nearly three years later, Emma considered him one of her closest friends.  He was the one that had her spare key and watched over her apartment when her work as a bail bondsman took her out of town.  A trust she was now rethinking since he’d apparently used the privilege to infest her apartment with holiday cheer.
Emma cuddled Tink as she wandered her apartment. The kitchen wasn’t too bad; a few towels decorated with snowflakes and a snowman shaped cookie jar were the only new additions she could see.  The guest bathroom, however, nearly burnt her eyes with how much red and green was packed into the small space.  There was a new Santa toilet cover with a matching bathmat.  The hand towels looked like the bottom halves of elves and her simple soap dispenser had been replaced with a Christmas tree one.
Blessedly, her bedroom and attached bathroom had been spared the Christmas invasion.  Killian obviously knew better than to mess with her private space.
Tinkerbelle jumping from her arms and Emma heard the squeak of her front door’s hinges.  The culprit returning to the scene of the crime, she thought, as she heard Killian chuckle when Tink greeted him with a meow that seem far too loud to have come from the cat.
“I know, it’s time for dinner,” she heard Killian matter-of-factly tell Tink. “I just need to add the finishing touch to the tree.”
Realizing Killian didn’t know she was home, Emma toed off her shoes and softly walked to spy out the bedroom door.  Wanting to remain hidden, she used the reflection in her TV to watch Killian. He had a simple box, which he laid on her coffee table.  Whatever item he pulled out was too blurry to make out clearly, but she surmised it was some time of tree topper as he stretched to reach the top of the tree. She risked a real look as he fiddled around behind the tree a bit and saw that it was a gold star.  She swiftly ducked back into her room when it illuminated, Killian having finished plugging it in.
“There,” she listened to him say.  Tink meowed in reply.
“Alright, fine.  Let’s get you some food.” With that, Killian collected the empty box, scooped up his cat, and left her apartment, locking the door behind him.
Once he was gone, Emma stood in her living room and gazed at the tree.  It was, she realized, the first Christmas tree she’d ever had. That thought immediately brought tears to Emma’s eyes, which she roughly wiped away.  She didn’t need a tree; especially not one that was going to shed pine needles all over her floor for the next few weeks.
Later that night, when Emma went to turn off the lights before heading to bed, she couldn’t help but admire how lovely it looked in the dark room.  As she lay in bed, she sent a text to Killian.
Thank you.
                                                         ~*~
Three days later, Emma noticed that the Christmas tree in her living room had gained some ornaments.  Where before there had only been classic glass bulbs, there were now wooden figures nestled amongst the branches.  All of them were birds of some type, which Emma found odd.
Three looked like chickens. Four were small, dark birds.  Two were obviously doves and the last was an odd looking bird with stripes on its wings that had a pear dangling by the stem from its mouth.
Emma held the pear-holding bird that she had found near the top of the tree in her hand.  Something about the bird felt familiar but she couldn’t put her finger on it. It wasn’t until she was placing it back in the tree that the answer hit her like a ton of bricks.
      It was a partridge.  Holding a pear…
A partridge in a pear tree… well, a pine tree, but the connection was there.
Two turtle doves.  Three French hens.
And a quick google told her that the fourth gift in the 12 Days of Christmas song was either “calling” or “colly” birds, deepening on the version, and that colly was believed to refer to blackbirds, which were dark like “col”, the Old English word for coal.
Leave it to Killian, an English Literature professor, to give her a gift that involved Old English.
Pulling her phone out, Emma autodialed Killian’s number.
      “Evening, love,” he answered.
“If you keep breaking into my apartment, I’m going to make sure that Santa leaves only col in your stocking.” She put extra emphasis on the word col.
She could hear him laughing in the apartment above her.
                                                       ~*~
As expected, Killian did not stop adding more decorations to the Christmas tree.  The next day brought five gold painted rings, followed by six geese with eggs.
On the seventh day, Emma found more than just seven wooden swans a-swimming on her tree after returning home.  A new picture frame adorned her wall, containing a collage of pictures of Emma herself swimming.  Or at least interacting with water.  She didn’t think that sitting on the side of the pool with only her feet in the water really counted as swimming.  Most were from that summer, when Killian had been her plus-one at a friend’s wedding in Cape Cod.
In one, which she couldn’t remember seeing before, she was “manning the helm” of a sail boat with Killian standing behind her, his hands on hers.  Killian had insisted on renting a small sailboat while they were out of the city so that he could show her the joy of sailing.  Emma smiled as she remembered how he’d gently guided her movements and ensured she didn’t kill everyone on board.
Well, he was supposed to be keeping an eye out for any possible dangers, but in this specific photo, Killian wasn’t looking at the waters around them.  Instead, his attention seemed to be solely on herself.  He was smiling, but it was… different.  It seemed softer, somehow.  In fact, his entire expression reminded her of the ones she usually saw on the face of her best friend’s husband, David, when he was in awe by how much he loved the woman before him.
Emma stepped away from the picture, her heart pounding. She had to be reading too much into a simple facial expression.  There was no way Killian was in love with her.  He would have told her if he was.  Probably with a poem.
Or by breaking into her apartment and recreating an old Christmas carol.
“On the seventh day of Christmas my true love gave to me…” Emma sang softly to herself.
Before she could stop herself, Emma ran upstairs to Killian’s apartment.  It was only when Killian open the door in response to her insistent knock that she realized she had no idea what she was going to do.  So she did the first thing that came to mind, which was to grab fistfuls of his shirt, drag him toward her, and hope the kiss she gave him conveyed what she couldn’t put into words.
He responded instantly. He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her flush against him.  She followed when he began to slowly step back into his apartment, only to find herself pressed against the door moments after it was closed.  Emma couldn’t help running her hands through Killian’s impossibly soft hair as the kiss deepened.
It was Killian who managed to regain control of himself first, pulling away from the kiss and resting his head against hers.
      “Emma… I…” he began.
      Emma smiled.  “I know.”

Moments from the new Sanders ASides video that had me screaming (or really, me screaming about the new video)
“RAIIIIID”
*Raid Thomas sounding like Roman/Remus*
“You bet your shiny metal AX”
“MASCULINITY IS A PRISON”
“Why do I pay for a membership if I still gotta watch the ads?”
THE FACT THAT THEY ALL ARE WEARING ONESIES EXCEPT THOMAS AND LOGAN BECAUSE LOGAN IS SERIOUS BOI AND THOMAS WELL,,, IS THOMAS
Also ROMAN CANONICALLY HAS LEGS***
ROMAN HAS ALL THE PILLOWS
VIRGIL IS SITTING ON A SURFACE THAT ISN’T MEANT TO BE SAT ON BUT IS SO RELATABLE BECAUSE I DO THAT EXACT THING WHAT
“Unless our problem is a hungry alligator-” “A remote possibility for a Florida dwelling man who never leaves his house”
Roman rigging the votes so it’s just Frozen and Patton is okay with that (WAIT BUT WHY IS PATTON CHILL (pun not intended) WITH IT???)
LOGAN HAD A CASUAL FALSEHOOD????
WAIT WHAT DID THE SIDES VOTE FOR??
“Thomas is in a bad place-” *camera pans to VIRGIL*
Roman calling Thomas a special snowflake
“Something good” *Frozen shows* “,,, or neutral”

“I SLEEP IN THE B U F F”
“Did I screw everything up?” “No I threw out your vote so you wouldn’t do that” ROMAN WHAT
Roman: *calls Frozen a Classic* Also Roman: *Makes fun of the entire movie and demands a rewrite*
“How are you telling me to settle into something right now when you’ve taken your sweet time to settle into things that you were uncomfortable with in the past” THAT SHADE!! THAT TEA!! I WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THESE *THINGS* PLEASE????
Patton: Let’s relax!! :) Virgil: Bruh I legit AM Anxiety that’s not in my job description
“How many times has our response to a difficult decision been half committing to one option and subsequently panicking about whether that option is our best option until it’s too late for Thomas to change his mind?” “7,430″ MOOD
“Why have a ballroom with no balls?” *Trash boi snickers at the dick joke that wasn’t there until then* "Nope, I’m an adult” (me me big boy-)
ROMAN’S IMPERSONATION OF HIS “EVIL PLOTTING FACE” HAS BE DEAD ON THE FLOOR
“AW MAN YEAH I’M LIKE SO FUCKED UP ON CHOCOLATE FONDUE I DON’T EVEN KNOW WHAT I’M SAYING RIGHT NOW” *Patton looks over, concerned* *Virgil looks over, annoyed* *Thomas glances over, lowkey amused* *Logan doesn’t even look at him and just grabs his tea*
NO TURN OFF LOVE IS AN OPEN DOOR IT’S MAKING PATTON SAD (ALSO IS HIS CONNECTION PROJECTING? AND IS ROMAN’S RESPONSE A L S O ACCURATE?)
“There’s no way she’s coming out of this situation without trust issues” honestly though yeah
“Not a footprint to be seen” “Except for the footprints behind you” “hEy YeAh” KEEP IT UP LOGAN YOU’RE DOING GREAT SWEETIE
Virgil: *Serious comment* Patton: “Don’t let them in, don’t let them see...” (did he sing the rest of the song or did he specifically choose these lines because if it’s the second one THAT CAN BE A WHOLE LOT OF ANGST AND I’M HERE FOR IT)
Logan canonically criticizes the movie at movie nights
ALSO GUYS THE VIDEO CAME OUT ON A FRIDAY SO FRIDAY NIGHT MOVIE NIGHTS ARE CANON
“Do you think this ice castle has a lavatory?” “ICE TOILET” “Or a bed?” “ICE BED” “This place sounds awful”
“HE DEFINITELY FUCKS THE REINDEER” “ew”
“You meddled with the vote to ensure that we would watch this and yet you’re the one constantly making fun of it” FACTS LOGAN
“This [^] is how I show my love” WAIT A MINUTE *Looks back at the entire series* HE MADE FUN OF VIRGIL SO MUCH SO WAIT PRINXIETY??? LAMP?? DR LAMP?? (is that the ship name because that’s this video basically*
Nobody:     Not a soul:     Roman: OLAF’S CONTRIBUTION SHOULD HAVE COUNTED AND SAVED HER
“Like... bruh” mood
“Take care of my sister” “You’ve already done a good job of that yourself Elsa” *hood falls off*
“Ah, we’re all gossipy bitches sometimes” “nO-” (also Roman channeled so much Remy energy right there headcanon they hang out all the time change my mind)
“Oh sweet Frank Iero” I’m using that now
“Just think about it” “LIKE I HAVE A CHOICE”
“Attacking a person for opinions they don’t have doesn’t really do anybody any good” Me: BECAUSE IT DOESN’T WORK!! AYYY YOU LISTENED TO AND ARE REFERENCING LOGAN IN LAST EPISODE??? OR AM I JUST TRASH??
“Oh yeah like me kissing a man is unacceptable?” What a power move though
“AAAAALSJDFOAGHOKLNOIATYRGH” Mood
Ok but also like Virgil basically rapped like that rapid talking was as fast as a bunch of rappers and even faster than some
Logan using the grounding method that my therapist suggested gave me life
Most of Virgil’s grounding answers were existential and oof
“A sour taste in my mouth probably left over from those reheated thai noodle leftovers” *Confused faces*
“FIGURATIVELY” *DWIT has entered the chat*
“Thank you Logan” “No problem, just your cool teacher being his cool self” *sips tea* Felt that. Also I have a new reaction image now XD
“Take it from Frozen’s most inspirational song” Let it Go? “Fixer Upper” Oh but ya know what valid
“Throw a little love their way” Virgil *confused smile?? I think that’s what that is??*
“Elsa, we the villagers have thought it over and with no discussion whatsoever we’ve decided we’re not scared anymore and ice magic is actually cool as hell!!” YEAH WAIT A MINUTE OMG
Logan: *Lists all of Elsa’s powers, reading from a notebook (meaning he took notes while watching the movie which is so in character omg) and implying that there is no way any of that makes sense* Patton: Sounds okay that makes sense
“With Elsa’s seemingly unstoppable “ice powers” I’d imagine Arendelle becomes a global superpower. No military force of that time could ever stand a chance against her never ending army of ice golems”
Nobody:     Not a soul:      Patton: “True love is a closed door that is eventually opened up to you!”
“What if your soulmate was there” “OH SHIT” I love Roman that was all it took huh
*Deceit has entered the chat* “HISS”
“Don’t touch my shit”
I wish we got to see Deceit’s face there but I get it we couldn’t see him without his hat (except for in the bloopers videos but those don’t count) (Also they probably just didn’t wanna do the makeup for him because it’s a lot and it might’ve been a split second decision and someone else might’ve played him with Thomas just voice recording over it especially considering there’s overlap so they wouldn’t have just been able to split screen it)
“I was gonna rig the vote anyway”
“I don’t know what you’re asking”
Roman is the source of SFW fanfic and Remus is the source of NSFW fanfic and Virgil is the source of angsty fanfic
“I’m going to bed. IN THE B U F F”
THE NEW SWEATERS IM BROKE SO IF SOMEONE WANTS TO GET ME ALL OF THEM (at least just Virgil’s even though I love like all of them)
WAIT THERE’S SCARVES TOO OMG I ALSO WANT ALL OF THEM (or at least,,, nope all of them)
“We were trying to make a slightly simpler video” Video: *is longer than most of season 1′s episodes* *has full body shots of almost all the characters* *has like 5 way split scenes* *uses every side*
WAIT LOGAN BROUGHT BACK OUT HIS ONESIE I LOVE HIM and he’s still got his necktie on just underneath it amazing
This video was just LAMP and potentially DLAMP and maybe DR LAMP if that’s the ship name. There were also a bunch of really good Prinxiety, Royality, Analogical, and Roceit moments in this one so I’m expecting fanfic hella soon
Also as of right now (I finished writing this at like 4am ET) we are still #1 on trending on Tumblr
***We never see Remus’s legs in the video so my theory of there is only one set of legs for the creativitwins still stands and is valid

Tumblr media
A person asked the question, "Why are people so hostile towards President Donald Trump?"

Frozen the musical tour thoughts -- my usual brain dump below (lots of details with some Frozen 2 spoilers):
Tumblr media
List of musical numbers from the playbill (which incidentally is now branding the show as “The Hit Broadway Musical” rather than just “The Broadway Musical”):
Tumblr media
The pre-show projection is a view of Arendelle with the mountains towering above it, the northern lights, and the show title.
“Vuelie”: It sounded like a slightly different arrangement than I remember, or at least different than the one on the cast recording.  At first I thought it was because the sound at the Pantages is not great (it wasn’t from where I was sitting, all of the group numbers sounded mushy) but it did seem like there were changes.
“Let the Sun Shine On”: Can’t remember if there was anything new/different here.  The little kids behind me giggled every time butts were mentioned, starting here and throughout the rest of the show.
“A Little Bit of You”: As I recall Young Anna had a doll that looked like Elsa. The contrast between Anna’s and Elsa’s personalities here was pronounced; it was as if Young Anna was dialed up just a bit.  When she hugged their toy Olaf it was just a little too enthusiastic and Olaf’s head fell into Young Elsa’s lap. (Wasn’t an issue, just funny.)
“Hidden Folk” : Can’t spell “Pabbie” without “ab” -- he had plenty to spare.
“Do you Want to Build a Snowman”: Here come potential Frozen 2 spoilers: 1) I believe before going on their trip, Agnarr says something to the effect of they’re going to find help or answers for Elsa and for their people (was that in there before? can’t recall), and 2) the choreography in the shipwreck scene has changed.  Last time I clearly remember them solemnly standing facing the audience next to each other, then the ensemble lifts them straight up and backwards from the standing position as they look toward and reach for each other looking sorrowful & stricken.  This time they are surrounded by the ensemble, who act as the water moving them around and trying to pull them apart as they actively reach for each other and try to embrace.
Both adult Anna and Elsa received entrance applause.  At the end when Elsa sings her line, snow falls.
“For the First Time in Forever”: Nothing particularly different that I remember.  I listened to the movie version for maybe the first time in two years not long ago, and frankly I like the stage version a lot better.  It has the feeling of “okay intro’s over, now our story really gets going” (similar to “At The End of The Day” in Les Misérables). This was the first opportunity the crowd had to applaud properly, and they really went for it.  There were two big waves of applause and cheers before the show went on, which probably would have kept going had they not started up the music.
Back to Anna seeming a little dialed-up: Caroline Innerbichler’s Anna was just a little weirder and more awkward than I expected (e.g. not modulating her voice in certain ways) particularly in the scene where she meets Hans. It was interesting to me because it both seemed consistent with Young Anna and also consistent with someone not being around enough people to learn social skills. In previous viewings (and the movie) it seemed like Anna was awkward in a way that was more funny and winsome rather than potentially off-putting.
“Hans of the Southern Isles”:  In the character’s intro section I’d say Austin Colby as Hans is not as dorky as John Riddle’s version, but also not as smooth.
“Queen Anointed”: Slight staging change.  This part all happens front and center instead of in an apse toward the back of the stage (too bad, because that was one of my favorite visuals).  I suspect it would have been hard to see from the far sides if staged as it was on Broadway, but I have no idea if that was the reason for it.
“Dangerous to Dream” and “Love is an Open Door”: Pretty similar to Broadway.
Elsa freezing everything: the freezing effect only covered the show proscenium and stage, didn’t go outside of it.  The frozen bridge used for “What Do You Know About Love” comes onstage from the wings as part of Elsa’s running away moment.
“Reindeer(s) are Better Than People”: Kristoff enters for this just as Elsa runs off, so that bridge is there through the entire scene where Anna and Kristoff meet.
“What Do You Know About Love”: I thought the bridge setup was cleverly updated.  On Broadway the dangerous part was meant to be falling through the slats of this rickety bridge, where in the tour version the danger was because the bridge was steeply inclined and meant to be covered with ice, and it looked like there were some mechanisms in place so that the actors could simulate a semi-controlled slide.  (As someone who has slid down an icy hill out of control but has never fallen through unstable flooring, it seemed pretty relatable.)
“In Summer”: Very similar to Broadway. Olaf always gets a good response.
"Hans of the Southern Isles (Reprise)”: Nothing new that I remember.
"Let It Go”: There’s a four-step platform that slides onstage so that Elsa can stand on it for the dress reveal, and it looks pretty good.  Not sure the timing was exactly right yet. Caroline Bowman sounded great. However, two people behind me, not even in the same group, started singing along; one was a little kid (who actually had decent pitch) and one was a person who really should have been old enough to know better.  It was very distracting; please don’t do this.
Intermission projection: Same view of Arendelle as before (no title), but now covered with snow with more coming down, though no consistent accumulation.  Particularly liked the image of the mountain since that’s the sort of landscape scenery that appeals to me.
“Hygge”: No significant audience interaction for Oaken, he just peeks out from behind his shop on stage to start the scene.  Kristoff is still a good killjoy, which I like.
“I Can’t Lose You”: Much as described in the LA Times article.  Cannot remember the melody at all, but maybe if I hear it again it’ll start to stick.  It did not seem as vocally/musically indicative of Elsa’s emotional state as the “First Time In Forever” reprise, but in the background there is clearly more (projected) snow flying around, plus there are lighting changes and clouds of dry ice rolling onto the stage until the two are pretty well surrounded. At the end Anna abruptly goes to hug Elsa, but Elsa can’t bring herself to touch Anna and keeps her arms out and away.  I’m not sure if I liked it better than the original scene, but they sounded great together and I am glad these two characters got a proper duet, which clearly emphasized that they are the center of the story.
“Fixer Upper”: No wedding pronouncement at the end, it just plays that familiar bit from the wedding march and the two look at each other.
“Kristoff Lullaby”: Similar to before.
“Monster”: The ice spikes looked kind of silly sliding on from the wings, but once they were in place it looked fine and they were more abstractly threatening than the moving conical ones on Broadway.  If anything it seemed to put the emphasis far more on Elsa for this song, which is fine.
The whole part with Hans’s duplicity went by rather quickly. I’m disappointed that they cut “True Love,” which was one of my favorites of the new songs.  Basically Anna briefly sees Young Anna and Young Elsa run in, around her, and then out, and then Olaf pops in. There is still some instrumental music with the “True Love” theme as it transitions into the “Colder by the Minute” scene. (ETA 12/14: when Young Anna and Young Elsa run in, an instrumental version of the “I Can’t Lose You” theme plays.)
"Colder by the Minute”: Seems pretty similar.
"Finale”: Elsa seemed quite shocked at Anna socking Hans; was even funnier when I remembered the actors playing Elsa and Hans are married.  At one point the whole cast gathers into a wedge and walk forward singing; while they do this, Elsa conjures some snow over puppet Olaf’s head.  Nice little detail.
Audience observations: Opening night, but I rarely recognize famous people and had a cheaper seat so I have no idea who was there. Saw several small children dressed as characters; guessing the Elsa to Anna ratio was about 3 to 1. Also saw two adult men looking pretty sharp in dark blue winter-themed dress suits (one covered in Christmas trees, one I think might have been snowflakes?).
General thoughts: Was worried that I might be too accustomed to the voices of Caissie Levy and Patti Murin as the characters, but that was not an issue.  Caroline Bowman and Caroline Innerbichler sounded really good, and I liked Caroline Innerbichler’s portrayal of Anna in particular.

rwby first season freezerburn. So at school.
((Set after volume 1 finale...which is still technically volume 1. Or right after chapter 3 of Reflections...because yes...everything I write for Weiss is connected.))
The library was a relatively quiet place, even after classesand training had ended and students started filing in to do their homework andstudy for upcoming exams. It was a tradition a majority of the students atBeacon held to, and whether that was due to a respect of tradition or a fear ofGlynda was much debated. Still, there were pockets here and there of studentschatting quietly amongst themselves about any number of topics that could belisted.
Yang hadn’t intended on stumbling across Blake and Weiss onher way back from getting coffee for her team (or tea…in Blake’s case). Lastshe knew, everyone was studying quietly, albeit slightly uncomfortably, whenshe left. And it wasn’t like she intended on standing nearby andeavesdropping on them, she couldn’t even hear anything! But she did lean upagainst a bookshelf and watch as they finished up their conversation. Blakesmiled and nodded after Weiss said something. As the Faunus got up to leave,Weiss placed her hand on her arm, said one more thing, and left both of themsmiling as Blake returned to Ruby and the table they were actually studying at.
Well, that was certainly a good sign. It was a much betterinteraction than the two had had over the past several days. Between yelling ateach other, and running away, and struggling to come to terms with the secretrevealed that Blake was a Faunus, and once a member of the White Fang, Yangwould definitely take smiles and quiet conversations. She doubted any team hadan immediately great start, but she had to believe their team beginnings wereon the worse end of the spectrum.
Before Yang could even pull herself from her thoughts, Weisshad noticed her and stood up. Damn, she hadn’t intended on getting caughteither…even if she really hadn’t heard anything. She watched with a sheepishgrin as the other girl walked over to her and placed her book back on the shelfshe was leaning against. Weiss didn’t say anything though, and she rolled hereyes, knowing she was expected to speak first.
“Everything good?” Yang asked, relenting to whatever moveWeiss was trying to play.
“Yes,” Weiss answered and after a moment nodded, as ifreaffirming it in her own mind for herself, “Yes, I think so. Or, it will be,anyways.”
She looked down at the coffees on the tray Yang was holdingand gratefully took the one offered to her. She took a long sip of her coffee, even more grateful it was already at a temperature that could be drank, andnodded her thanks. Weiss turned around and Yang followed after her, onlystopping when Weiss sat back down at the smaller table she and Blake were justtalking at. Out of curiosity, Yang paused and waited to see if she would sayanything else. Or for Weiss to shoo her away, whichever came next.
Weiss took a while, watching a few tables over where Rubyand Blake sat studying, the former animatedly informing the latter aboutsomething or other. Her icy blue gaze remained almost solely on Blake, watchingthe girl smile and roll her eyes as she humored their young leader. It had beenthe most at ease she had seen Blake since they started at Beacon and itwas…nice. “I do care about her, you know,” she said finally and herstare settled on Yang, “I care about all of you.”
Yang blinked, and slowly took the seat across from Weiss.Had that ever been in question? Sure, she didn’t always have the best attitude, but Weiss did still care. She settled into being their teammate and got overnot being the leader of team RWBY relatively quickly. She had gone along withtheir team outings and shenanigans like building bunk beds, and often she hadfun herself. She even saved Ruby the first day they met. The attitude wasthere, but Yang never doubted somewhere in there that she cared too.
“Of course you do, I know that,” Yang said.
“You…” Weiss hesitated and looked down at her coffee, “Youimplied otherwise a few days ago. I just wanted you to know, I know I am notthe best at expressing it, but I do care for you all.”
Oh. Right. She had said that while they were looking forBlake, hadn’t she? Maybe in this mess, she had something to apologize for too.“Look, Weiss, I know that,” Yang started, “I’m sorry. I said some things Ididn’t mean in the heat of the moment. I was frustrated and tired and I…Ishouldn’t have said that,” she sighed, “I know you care, I promise. I’m sorry.”
It was faint, but Weiss smiled in relief. “I accept yourapology. And I understand,” she said and looked back up at Yang, “There weremany things I shouldn’t have said either. I have since apologized for them, aswell. It was…the White Fang is a sensitive subject,” she admitted and turnedback to watching Blake and Ruby. It wasn’t like that hadn’t become obvioussince the fight in their room. “They made a difficult situation worse.”
Yang remained quiet, unsure of what else could be said tothat. Ruby had already tried to apologize that night, but that wasn’t whatWeiss was looking for. And she still wasn’t sure what Weiss was looking for, except for maybe a listening ear. That was the least she could provide.
“But it doesn’t matter now. The White Fang doesn’t matter, they are in Blake’s past just as much as they are in mine,” Weiss decided andshe turned back to Yang with that same, faint smile, “You guys, team RWBY, arealmost like a family to me. That means a lot to me, given the circumstancesof…well…”
Weiss didn’t need to say anything else, Yang understood. Many were envious of the SDC heiress, likely due to the assumption she hadeverything anyone could ever want. Money was never an issue for her and herstatus probably granted her the opportunity to a great number of things. Butmoney couldn’t buy everything. Yang had never envied her, or anyone rich forthat matter, for that reason. She was only proved right when she actually metWeiss. Sure, the heiress had everything physically she could ever need, but herarrogance bespoke of something deeper. It was a mask that hid some deep-seated hurt, and every so often she caught a glimpse of a glint of unspoken loneliness, isolation,in her teammate’s blue eyes.
It was something Yang could understand. Something perhapsshe saw too many times in her own reflection.
Thus Weiss’s statement was something she could alsoappreciate, perhaps better than anyone else. And she was glad they were all ableto start giving her that. “We are family,” Yang corrected her with agrin, “That’s what a team is. No one is gonna have your back out there fightingGrimm better than your own family, so you better get used to it, Snowflake.”
Weiss smiled at the sentiment, happy that Yang had soreadily corrected her and confirmed what she wanted. Her expression fell into oneof bemusement at the end of the blonde’s statement though, “Snowflake? What’sthat supposed to mean?”
“Nothing,” Yang shrugged, grin growing wider, “But everyonein a family gets nicknames,” she explained like it was the most obvious thingin the world. “I know, I know, Ice Queen has already been floated around—” Weissheld back a grimace at the name, “—But that seems a little harsh. Do you notlike Snowflake? How about Weiss Cube?”
“That is really not necessary,” Weiss said, trying for all orRemnant to sound serious and disapproving. The corners of her lips werebetraying her though as they started to turn upwards.
“Oh it most definitely is, Weiss Cream Cone,” Yang saidagain. She thought on it a moment before shaking her head, “Nah, way too long.”
“Honestly, just Weiss would b—”
“I got it! Weissicle!” Yang exclaimed.
Weiss couldn’t hold it in any longer and burst into gigglesdespite herself. Yang watched her for a few moments, both proud and enthralledthat she got the other girl to laugh. She had seen Weiss laugh and smile a fewtimes now, but something felt different about this. She had always been pretty, but she was prettier when she let those walls down and let her true self shinethrough. Something Yang hoped for Weiss’s sake she would do more often now.
“I think, if you are so insistent and Weissicle is the bestyou can come up with,” Weiss said as her giggle fit calmed down, “I would muchprefer Snowflake.”
“Duly noted,” Yang agreed. She let herself look over Weissagain for another moment before adding, “You should do that more often.”
“What? Laugh?”
“Yup,” Yang nodded and stood up, signaling theirconversation was nearing an end. “We’re family now, remember? You can beyourself around us, I think we’d all like it better that way. Besides, youractual personality is prettier,” she smiled and winked at her before gatheringtheir coffees and walking back towards the rest of their team, “We shouldprobably get back to studying. You don’t want to see what happens when you makeRuby wait for some much-needed coffee.”
“R-right,” Weiss agreed, too shocked at the turn to reallysay anything else. After a moment of staring after the blonde, she grabbed herown cup of coffee and followed suit. And if she returned to study with the restof her team with a slight blush and a small, satisfied smile, at least no onecommented on it.

jealous of the rain
hey everyone, just another blurb as my mind is rambling with ideas at the moment. my next post will be the third chapter of my stores and a whole lot longer.
if you’d like to, listen to jealous by labrinth as you read this. enjoy <3
Tumblr media
harry knew the moment he locked eyes with yours as you peeked through his bedroom door that this was the end. his sweaty figure partially in another woman who was still unaware of what was happening around her. before he could even get a word out, you disappeared. he’s trying his best to make himself decent enough to run after you but it’s all too late when he can hear the exhaust from your engine. the girl is clueless as to why they’ve stopped and he’s realizing just how innocent both parties are in this enormous mess. so he does what a decent man would do and calls for an uber as well as pays for it for her. once she’s out of his hair, he takes a deep breath and collapses onto the floor letting his eyes sting as the tears make their appearance.
“she’ll come back, she has to.”
he begins to feel his entire world crashing down.
***
your tears are coming out in numbers you’ve never known possible so you slow down at an intersection to let everything crumble. nothing you say is audible and each breath you take shakes your entire body before your completely hunched over onto the steering wheel.
a lot of women will say they have the hunch that their man is cheating on them but there’s nothing that comes close to the actual heartache you feel when you finally uncover the truth.
instantly you decide you want to get away from any and everything. you can’t go home because your entire apartment is surrounded by nothing but memorabilia that will only remind you of what was supposed to be your better half. you pull into a twenty four hour diner and step out of the vehicle. you wrap your coat around you tighter to combat the december air.
finding a lone spot in the corner, you walk over and sit down. taking in your surroundings you realize just how cute and dainty this spot is. every table is wooden with matte black chairs to follow. majority of the diner is white with different plants decorating every corner of the building.
harry would love this spot.
harry.
your phone begins vibrating vigorously and you look down to see several missed calls and texts from him. you then proceed to block him and delete any trace of him out of your phone.
a young waitress heads towards you eager to finally have some foot traffic in the diner.
not having much of an appetite, you settle on a hot chocolate.
looking out the window, you see the first of many snowflakes making their debut that evening. you found so much beauty in such a simple weather act.
****
“mate, open up yeah? i’ve got loads of food.”
harry opens the door to see his best lad zayn standing before him.
he’s grateful his friend has decided to stop through and by the look on zayn’s face after seeing just how disheveled harry is, he’s grateful for it as well.
“y’ can’t sit in bed all day every day dwelling on a break up.” zayn starts as he sits down setting their thai food on the coffee table in front of him.
“i can and i will.” is all harry says before he dives into his noodles. he can’t remember the last time he’s had a proper appetite.
“and i’ve let you for a week, but now it’s time to start making progress in moving forward.” zayn looks dead at harry causing him to stiffen.
“i never thought she’d actually leave. i thought if i gave her a few days to gather her thoughts, she’d realize that i fucked up. then maybe she’d still want me.” harry is pitying himself at this point.
“you can’t honestly think you can step out on your relationship, break several layers of trust, let your partner feel disrespected, and still expect them to stay with you, can you?”
zayn’s response struck a chord with harry. not once had he really thought about y/n’s emotional state. he’d been selfish and thought about how he could make her forgive him, not how she was coping with it.
“how about we hit the gym yeah? we can box a bit, relieve some of that pinned up aggression you’ve got.” harry obliges to zayn’s proposal.
the boys finish their lunches before heading out to the gym. hoping that adding some routine into harry’s life will alleviate some of the pain he was feeling.
*****
1 year later
“give me one more h!” harry’s curls are drenched in sweat sticking to the corners of his forehead. his feet are quick as he dodges each hit his opponent swings. he’s jabbing every which way before his trainer rings a bell signaling his rest. his trainer jogs over to him with his water bottle in tote.
“great job today man! you’ve become such a natural.” his trainer gives him a few pats on the back before walking off. harry had been attending this gym religiously, he’d taken up the hobby of boxing until it consumed him daily. it was supposed to help him get over you but it’s only made him long for you more. he told his friends he was happy you moved on because it meant that you were finally happy. but that couldn’t be further from the truth.
every blind date he went on, he would find the smallest feature or characteristic on that girl and find a way to tie it back to you.
and he thinks, since the time that you’ve left, his obsession has only intensified.
harry’s taking off his gear as he grabs his bag to head out the door. with a sudden increase in appetite he decides to stop at a diner on the way home. parking his vehicle, he makes his way in and to say he was surprised was an understatement.
he must’ve discovered a new hidden gem because the interior isn’t what he’s expected. white, crisp and clean walls decorated solely with architectural photos and different indoor plants in every corner. followed by wooden tables and extremely matte chairs. it’s a vacation away from home almost.
he finds a corner and takes a seat, pulling out his phone in the process. he’s mindlessly scrolling through his feed when he hears the bell from the front door ring. normally he wouldn’t pay another patron any mind but something in his gut told him to look up. and when he did, he instantly regretted it.
there you were. vibrant and beautiful even with the temperature dropping outside. he caught a glimpse of your smile moving to your eyes and seeing who or what had you in such a positive mood. that’s when he sees you with someone new. someone different.
and he looks like he has his shit together. an extremely fitted suit adorning his body with his hair falling in all of the right places.
this stranger engulfs you into his arms giving tender kisses to your forehead and suddenly harry feels every muscle in his body tense.
he’s jealous.
he’s jealous that you’re visibly happy with someone else.
too in love to notice him in the corner staring at you.
but i always thought you’d come back, tell me, all you felt was heartache and misery.
it’s hard for me to say, i’m jealous of the way, you’re happy without me.
in that moment, it’s all too much for harry to handle. so he leaves a considerable tip for his beverage and quietly exits the diner. what he doesn’t know is you’ve caught him out of the corner of your eye, reluctant to speak and not wanting to cause a scene.
you hope he can find happiness the way you did again.

A person asked the question, "Why are people so hostile towards President Donald Trump?"
Chris O'Leary:
Before you pass my answer off as “Another Liberal Snowflake” consider that
1.) I'm an independent centrist who has voted Republican way more often in my life than Democrat, and
2.) If you want to call someone who spent the entire decade of his 20’s serving in the Marine Corps a snowflake, I’d be ready to answer the question what did you do with your 20’s?

ROTBTD - OUAT AU Episode 1 (Part 3)
ROTBTD - The Big Four – OUAT AU
Tumblr media
Present Day
“You must've got the wrong address, kid. Also, do I look like I'm old enough to have—how old are you?”  Jack squinted at the boy who clung fiercely onto a book, which seemed the width of a shoe box and the length of a typical Encyclopedia volume. It was as if the book was precious and important but Jack had been too preoccupied with wondering why this kid just said what he’d said to think much of it. You don’t get told someone is your son out of the blue every day, after all.
“Ten.”
“A ten year old kid?” Jack placed a hand on his hip while he held the doorknob with the other, eager to close it. “Unless you mean my step dad. Oh, boy. Now there's something I never expected. No. You must be mistaken.”
“Wait, no, Jack!” the kid slid his foot through the space of the doorway and kept it from closing. Jack pulled it open a fraction by surprise.
“Seriously, how did you know my name?”
“Your name is Jack Frost. And I'm telling you, I'm your son. I'm Jamie. You have to remember.”
Jack’s facial expression was a mix of a frown, a scowl, and all shades of what-the-heck-is-going-on?
“Is this a prank? Or one of those game shows where someone’s taking a video of this?”
The kid muttered something to himself, but Jack had been blessed with good enough hearing so he was able to catch something along the lines of “The author did say it might be this way.”
“What?”
“Here!” the boy shoved the book through the doorway and towards Jack’s hands. “This book. This book has it all. Your story! And mom's and the Big 4. You've got to remember!”
He shoves the book into Jack's hand and Jack held it up, looked at the cover, and skimmed through the pages. It was a storybook with illustrations but he didn’t get what was happening so he was quick to close it shut. He continued to frown at this strange kid, but then the boy’s expression changed from wide eyed confusion to tearing up.
“Whoa there. Hey. Are you crying? I don't understand what's going on. I’m not your dad. I can’t be your dad.” He stepped out on the porch so the kid could see him better, because truth be told the lights were dim in the hallway anyway. “See? I’m sixteen. Not that much older than you. Are you lost? Do you need help finding…your actual dad? Maybe you got the wrong address?”
The boy wiped away his tears with the back of his hands and his wrists. He sniffed and looked back up at Jack, who was tall and lanky even when he was just wearing socks. For a moment the boy seemed to be considering something as he took the book back from Jack, smoothing the cover with his damp fingers. “I…yes, I’m sorry. I must be lost. I don’t know what got into me. I just really needed to find my…real dad. I thought it was you. That I finally found him. I…just thought he’d be here and needed to see him for myself and I got lost on my way home from school.”
“Seriously, do I look that old?”
Okay. Now that made sense. He could actually do something now. Jack kneeled down to be face level with the boy as he talked, using a gentle voice. “Do you have an address? Maybe I can help you find it. Why were you looking for your dad?” he said it even though he should’ve picked up on the hint earlier on – divorced parents, absent father, or maybe…? It was too late to stop himself though.
“I'm adopted.”
“Oh. I see.” Jack stood up. “So that’s what you meant by real dad. What was his address?”
“I…The, er, houses just look confusing and…I used Google Maps. I just know he’d be here.”
“Well, it's a small enough town. You’ll find him eventually.”
“No that's okay. I live in this town too…just more uptown and I never been in these parts,” the boy said, then he said with a shake of his head and a forced smile, “I changed my mind. Maybe he won't be glad to see me after all.”
“Oh come on. What kind of a father wouldn't be glad to see his kid? Oh.” Jack winced at another thing he maybe shouldn’t have said. He, more than anyone, should’ve known better. There was obviously a reason why someone wouldn’t want to be found.
“Could you help me find my way back to a Cafe? Lucky Cat Cafe? I was supposed to wait there.”
Jack glanced back at the empty living room with its open television and train set littered on the floor, the feint smell of pizza wafting in from the kitchen microwave. He couldn’t just let the kid wander off on his own to get more lost and it wasn’t like he had the number of the sheriff to ask for assistance.
“Yeah, sure. It's just around the street from here,” Jack said. “Just give me a sec.”
 ***
“So, Jamie, huh?” Jack said, walking side by side with the boy as more snow started to fall from the sky. He had his hood over his head and his hands in the front pockets where he kept the house keys. “How’d you find out that a ‘Jack’ lived in my house anyway?”
“Tried to ask around. A nice old lady with the swimming pool in her yard told me on the way. It’s easier to talk to old people sometimes, they have to be nice to me because I’m a kid.”
“Ah. You must mean Glo. She is nice.”
On the way to Lucky Cat Café Jack found out more from Jamie that he's been a loner himself and doesn't really like his school when he asked him why he wasn’t with his friends. The kid had been cradling the book in his arms the whole time and he said something about it ‘having it all’ and remembering. He couldn’t resist asking about it.
“So what’s with the fairytale book?”
“What? Oh. It’s…” Jamie considered. “A story my dad used to read to me before we…got separated.”
Touchy subject, Jack thought. It could explain why he’d tried to make Jack take the book earlier, but he pressed his lips back and simply nodded, still not fully getting what that was about. What could he mean by separated?
But Jamie continued to say something, “He was really like Jack Frost. From the book.” He added when Jack gave him a confused look. “All the adventures of Jack Frost in this book, he’d always tell me about them. You do kind of look like him.”
“Who?”
“Jack Frost.”
“All we have in common is the first name but—oh, man.” He was caught off guard at a glance of a page. “Well, that is weird.”
“Yeah.” He held the book up to Jack and opened it to a page with an illustration of a guy in a long blue winter coat, designed with intricate silver snowflakes at the hems and collar. He was holding a staff with an end that crooked in a way that almost made it look like a letter ‘G’. His hair was white as snow. “He was a Guardian.”
“Guardian?”
“Guardian of Childhood. And a part of the Big Four.”
“The Big What?”
“You should read it sometime.”
Jack smirked in amusement. “Sorry. I don’t know much about this fairytale stuff. I didn’t know Jack Frost was even in fairytales. I thought he was just part of that Christmas song. ‘Chestnuts roasting on the fire, Jack Frost nipping at your nose’?”
The little boy snickered. “He’d hate that song.”
“I can’t imagine. Anyway, I’ll take it as a compliment that you think he looks like me, but obviously the hair’s a bit of a stretch.” He picked at a lock of his own brown, which is just the same as the kid’s. “Is that why you thought I was your dad?”
“Hey!” the boy stopped walking instead of answering and Jack paused to look back at him. “Does this mean we’re friends now?”
“What?”
“I-I’ve never made a friend near my age before.”
“I’m 16.”
“Still.” He hopped and then jogged after Jack who started to walk again. “No one really liked to listen to me talk about fairytales before.”
“You’re allowed to talk about whatever interest you have, kid. Don’t let em’ get to ya.”
“So what do you say? Are we friends?” he caught up with Jack.
“Sure, why not?” Not that anyone tried so hard to be his friend before, but the way Jamie said it so easily it doesn’t seem like he’d want to say no. Who would?
When they get to Lucky Cat Café it seemed empty, apart from the owner, a woman named Cass, and one of Jack’s classmates, Hugo. Cass was on the phone behind the counter, eating a muffin as she laughed and simply nodded in greeting to the new customers. Hugo was sitting in a table by himself with his glasses slipping down the bridge of his nose as he squinted at his sketchbook; his coffee halfway empty and probably cold. He seemed to be drawing a dragon. Jack and Hugo were actually project partners for a report due next week, and Hugo just jerked his chin up a bit in an attempt at greeting. Jack always thought that they respected each other's boundaries, one loner to another. They weren’t exactly what you would call ‘close’.
“Well. This is it kid. Who’s supposed to pick you up here?”
“My adoptive parent. Uhm, but don't you want to wait and see if they do?
“Uh-uh. None of that. You're not exactly my responsibility anymore.”
“But you said we were friends!”
“Yes, but this friend’s got plans. Besides you'll be fine here. Plenty of people around.” Hugo coughs in his sad little corner, reached for the remaining of his coffee and it spilled when his hand missed. Cass’ laugh echoed a bit too loudly at something someone said through the phone.
Jack walked over to the counter and regarded Cass. “Miss Cass could you make sure this kid finds his parents?”
Cass didn't seem to hear him because she was talking in her cellphone. Jack shrugged. In any case this is where his parents would meet him.
Right on cue, a man in a black business suit came in and rushes over to Jamie.
“Thank goodness. I came here half an hour ago and you weren't waiting for me. What did I say?”
“Oh. Good. The parent is here…” he was facing Cass and turned his head slowly as he said, “Guess that means my job here is done--aaaand, it’s the Principal. Principal Pitchiner. That, too, was unexpected.”
Jack decided he had to explain what happened to the Principal anyway. Jamie looked sheepish and guilty the whole time, but Jack tried to smile dismissively since it really was no big deal.
“I'm terribly sorry for my son he's a bit too…imaginative,” said Pitchiner in his usual fancy low tone. It sure was a shock to find out the Principal who, truth be told, hardly ever felt like a presence in the school actually had an adopted son. Maybe it was common knowledge, but since Jack was such a wandering spirit he missed the memo. Still there was a part of him that felt maybe Pitchener was aware of Jack’s tendency to skip classes and all the subtle pranks he’d pulled on the Faculty. Like Principals knew everything.
“Nah. Kids, am I right?”
Pitch told Jamie he had to do get in the car because they had to go to his tutor, which caused such a sullen look on the boy that Jack raised an eyebrow. Jamie went back to Jack first and told him “You're my friend now, right?
“Sure. Absolutely.”
“I’ll see you tomorrow!” he said excitedly, giving Jack a quick and unexpected hug before leaving.
Pitchener lingered. “You’re one of the students in my school, correct?” Jack winced.
“Yeah…Love what you’ve done with the place so far. School’s the best.” He tried his best innocent face, and then it occurred to him to mention it so he did eventually put on a real one. “Hey, er, not that it's any of my business but...you might want to talk to him.”
“Excuse me?”
Jack scratched at the back of his head. “He came to my house looking...well, looking for his real father. He said he was adopted.”
Pitchiner seemed stunned for a split second but remained calm in disposition as he said, “I am his real father.”
“Of course!” Jack nodded at the Principal. “He just said he's been having trouble fitting in, and I kinda know what that's like. I'm just saying maybe he just wants to know the guy--but hey, none of my business.”
“I see.” It really was hard to read this guy. “I apologize and...thank you for bringing him here.”
“No problem.”
He left and after he did Jack was able to breathe easy, which made him realize there was something in the air when the Principal entered, some sort of tension. That’s what you get for playing the delinquent card.
He noticed Hugo was looking up from his sketchbook with his chin on his knuckles. His gaze was to Jack but his thoughts were way beyond him. Jack sat with Hugo for a while, since he was already here.
“Hey.”
“Oh. Hey.” Hugo came free of his thoughts. “I didn't see you in class today.”
“I was there.” Jack shrugged.
“Really? It's like I hardly see you in school at all. Where do you go?
“Alright, half of it, then. I was late. Besides no one really notices.”
Hugo shrugged too, without questioning. He took up whatever there was remaining in his coffee cup and downed it, leaving his sketchbook exposed to Jack’s curiosity. Hugo closed the sketchpad without looking at it.
“Hey, that looked good. What was that?”
“It's for another class,” he lied, obviously since he picked at strands of his hair over his forehead which he did when he tells the teacher he was fine with his report getting cut so short to make time for the varsity members to leave class and practice. “So, I take it you didn’t know Pitchiner had a kid?”
“Nope. Weird how small this stupid town is and everyone expects us to know everybody. What are you doing here?” Jack said, avoiding the subject.
“Avoiding my dad and his precious Fearsome, Grusome, Band of Vikings.” Hugo's Dad was a Hockey Team Coach. “No point in hanging around where I clearly don't belong.”
“That's tough, buddy.” Jack stood up, because he and Hugo would only really exchange sob stories about being social outcasts and that’s really the last thing either of them needed. Not that he think Hugo deserved it, he just didn’t know how to help the guy. So what was the point of being useless? “Well, better get going. Got places to be and things to do.”
“I'll send your half of the report later,” said Hugo, adjusting his glasses.
“Report? Oh, yeah. Wonderful.”
Jack stopped for a while and thought. “Is this the first time we ever had to do a report together?”
“Nope. We end up getting paired up at least once every year.” Hugo’s voice was monotonous, as if bored. “And each time you skip class on the day of the report, so I’m making sure you at least get more of the research work just in case.”
Jack smirked. “Mighty generous of you.”
“I compromise.”
“I’m impressed.”
“See ya’.” Hugo waved.
Jack made a salute.
That's the thing about Hugo, Jack thought, he never pries and just shrugs things off. He wasn't sure if they could consider each other friends, but sometimes maybe they were just too different to try. Hugo was…eccentric and Jack was well on his way to be a delinquent. If he actually did get anyone's attention. This really wouldn't be the first time they ever had to work on a project, because usually no one else was available, though most of the time Hugo hangs out with that other nerdy kid, Freddie. Still, Jack thought about Jamie asking him to be his friend and wondered whether a lack of friends his age was problematic.
He was just about to go and was only turning back to Cass because it occurred to him to buy him and his dad some cookies when the door smashed against his back with a sharp ting.
“Oh, I'm sorry! I didn't see anyone there!”
Against the table he bumped into, Jack mumbled, “'S alright. Wouldn't be the first time.”
Except here he saw this girl for what should’ve felt like the first time…but wasn’t. Was it? She was wearing a light blue hoodie over her head and a white scarf, bits of snow decorated the bits of her hair that trailed out of the hood. He realized it was snowing even harder outside now. Another girl, who kind of looked like the first but with different, brownish-red, hair, burst in more excitedly and carefree.
“Two gingerbread lattes stat, Miss Cass! We are gonna build ourselves a snowman!”
The first girl stood over him, about to offer her hand but stopped since he was already halfway standing. “Really sorry.”
He smiled. “It’s fine.”
She turned her back at him and continued on to the counter. Hugo was looking at him from his seat, giving him a questioning thumbs up.
Jack returned the thumbs up. “I’m good.” I think. And then he left.
Who was that girl? Jack thought as he walked back home, making a mental note to ask Cass who that girl was but then shook his head remembering his introverted nature. She was cute but he didn't believe in love at first sight among other things he didn't believe in.
 PAST
Jamie was born on a snowy evening. Jack had been worried sick, pacing outside the bedchamber while Merida and Hiccup stood guard on either side of him. It was partly because he worried Pitch might try to steal the child now, and partly because, in general, who wouldn’t be nervous about the first born?
But when Anna came out to call on him because he had to be there, it was happening, he didn’t waste another moment.
And then, suddenly, the boy was born. Crying and living and breathing into their world and lives like a little miracle. Jack placed an arm around Elsa’s shoulders as she cradled the child; both parents were just a moment away from tears. When it was his time to hold his son for the first time, Jack carefully lifted him up to see his face. He was so small and yet so full of hope. It was like holding a little glow of light.
He opened his eyes, wide and brown like the way Jack’s looked in that last memory before he first died and became a Guardian. A new life, once again.
“Hi. Hi. Oh…Jamie,” he said breathlessly. “Can you see me? I’m here. I’ll always be here for you.”
They watched him sleep in the nursery and Jack promised Elsa they would never have to let any harm fall to their child. He wrapped his arms around her as her eyes glanced from the mobile of snowmen and elves over the crib, to the baby sleeping with a stuffed red-nosed reindeer on one side and a doll of a boy in all white they’d taken to call ‘Nightlight’.
“We'll protect him.”
“I just hope this fear of the curse won’t mean we might have to keep him hidden from the world too.”
Jack kissed the top of her head. “Hey, you’ve got the Guardian of Fun as a husband. Do you know what that means?”
She snorted. “Alright, what does it mean?”
“Not a boring moment in any of our lives. Ever. And that Fun takes away the Fear of anything.”
She breathed a sound that told him she smiled.
“And if there's anything I believe in it's that love is a strong enough force to break any kind of spell, able to keep us safe from any kind of bad dream.”
They kiss Jamie goodnight. Then Jack looked up at the moon. The words "I believe" unspoken but felt in that one significant look.
 Present
The moon is bright and full.
Jack had received a text message from Nicholas saying he might come home a little late and not to worry, just leave me a plate of cookies and a glass of milk like somehow he knew Jack would make a stop at Lucky Cat.
He thought about Jamie wanting to be friends and wondered whether he looked, to the universe, as if he desperately needed more people in his life because he was a conflict of wanting people to notice he existed and yet shut people off when they got too close.
Hugo's message came up when Jack opened up his laptop.
Jack responded with: Cool. I'll start working on this now. -ish. Thanks, bud.
Seen.
Then. Sure you are, pal.
He laughed just imagining the sarcasm in Hugo's message.

Anastasia Stuttgart - January 12, 2019 - 15:00 - Act One
Tumblr media
First off, I rarely write reviews, and I'm not an expert on all things Anastasia - I haven't seen this musical live before, it's been a while since I've watched the Broadway videos from 2017, and I've only listened to bits and pieces of the existing German audios, so I might find things interesting or cute that are just normal to others ♡
I love the Stage theatres in Stuttgart. They're located in the SI Centrum, with lots of restaurants, cafés and souvenir shops. While those are pretty expensive, it's a great way to really get into the mood, plus, you don't have to go outside (which is convenient when you arrive almost two hours early and it's snowing like it did yesterday).
My seat was perfect. I didn't remember the Stage Palladium started counting seats from the middle, so when I saw seat number 1 on my ticket (I got it from my travel agency), I was a little disappointed and expected to miss part of the action. But I was literally right in the middle, row 19. Perfect view of the stage:
Tumblr media
This is the prettiest curtain I've ever seen. It's snowing, you can see tiny snowflakes falling. It changes after the first act - it additionally says 'Anastasia' in the middle then.
Almost all of the principal cast were on, with the exception of Susanna Panzner as Lily instead of Jaqueline Braun. The least amount of understudies I've ever seen in a major production! I was lucky, too, because usually there are understudies on on weekends (like Fabian Kaiser as Dimitri today) (not that understudies are bad, I repeat, but as you know I always see a lot of understudies, so this is a nice change):
Tumblr media
Luckily, little Anastasia's wig wasn't as ugly as the one in the official picture:
Tumblr media
The Dowager Empress almost dropped the music box when giving it to her grandchild XD but she covered it well and was SO SWEET with Anastasia, and so genuine. You could tell that Yade Soyal hadn't been on that often before because she was really quiet and a bit shy, but it got better with every word she sang.
The Tsarina's gown is SO IMPRESSIVE. Wow. And then the Tsar aka Kirill Zolygin aka fave came on, and when he walked past his wife, he put his hands on her shoulders and squeezed a bit, which made her smile brightly.
The ball scenes were quite impressive. The funniest part was when Alexei fell down and suddenly everyone had no idea what to do next - ahhh there's someone to take a photo let's go there!!
When the photos are taken, as well as later when the palace is taken, lights are flashing from both sides of the stage - they didn't announce them, and I'm not bothered by them, but they could have given a warning, imo. I think they're used again later during Anya's nightmare.
During A Rumour in St Petersburg, Dmitry imitates Gleb's movements and mocks him, and Milan and Mathias, while being back to back to each other, were perfectly in sync.
The audience LOVED Milan from the beginning, but he charmed everyone with his reactions during the audition scene.
Vlad hid behind his coat when they heard someone entering the palace lmao
Judith's Anya is confused, insecure and sassy at the same time. In this scene, she seemed a little unsure about where she wanted to go with her portrayal.
The way Milan delivered the line 'Die kippt uns gleich aus den Latschen' with a little squeak in his voice was priceless.
In My Dreams was so moving. I think I like this song even better than OuaD and JttP. While Judith's voice was a bit soft throughout, she acted so beautifully.
Learn to Do It was fun, especially the failed dance attempts. 'Got it Anya?' 'NO' Anya is overwhelmed. And then the memory with the black (!) cat. Adorable.
I know many have criticised the decision to cast Mathias Edenborn as Gleb as obvious and not at all original and stuff. But. He really does justice to the role. I think I like him better than Ramin o.O that man can SING. The Neva Flows was very impressive, his voice filled the theatre effortlessly. And the set omg the set. What a pity to photo of it has been released. It's not necessarily realistic but I loved it!
The fight scene in the club was choreographed poorly. For some reason I remembered pretty well from the bootleg, and Christy really went off! Maybe someone missed a cue, because Judith seemed to expect someone behind her when there wasn't, and Milan looked a little lost at some point as well.
He still nailed My Petersburg! What a range! Their chemistry really showed here, what an awesome scene in total. The audience's reaction was meh though, I'd expected more from them. How lazy of you not to honour Milan's performance hhhh
I almost cried during Once Upon a December, all the dancers on the walls left and right of the stage, Anya's family dancing around her, herself being lifted up in the air, the melody. How magical. Judith's voice always sounds like she has a cold in this - I had noticed in the audios, but had thought of it as a recorder problem, but she really sounds like that? She totally has the range, and it doesn't seem like an acting choice of sort, so idk. I've noticed something similar with Christy's voice, and it surely has something to do with her barely contained emotions. Same for Judith, maybe?
Stay I Pray You is so emotional. I had already been close to crying at OuaD, so I had a hard time during this song. I love Kirill's voice excuse me ~ even though I can't relate to the song myself (that's another topic I won't discuss on this account ever), it was so moving. I had the goosebumps I only get rarely during performance's any more - I guess one gets more picky with time, without being able to control it at all.
Had Mathias even done anything before he started singing Still? I don't think so.
Right before Journey to the Past, when Anya is staying behind, she's bursting with excitement and doing little jumps, almost running after Dmitry and Vlad, before remembering her suitcase and what lies ahead. As expected, Judith totally smashed it!
To be continued ...

"Why are people so hostile towards President Donald Trump?" Chris O'Leary:
1.) I'm an independent centrist who has voted Republican way more often in my life than Democrat, and 2.) If you want to call someone who spent the entire decade of his 20’s serving in the Marine Corps a snowflake, I’d be ready to answer the question what did you do with your 20’s?
