Hi Naneth! Do you know and/or play D&D? So...I've recently started playing it and got addicted to the game (surprisingly for someone who's always been a bookworm than a gamer hehe), and now I can't help but be curious what would the Thranduillions (maybe bonus Thranduil and his wife?) be like as D&D characters (or what kind of characters would they create and play as during D&D sessions)? Ooooh, now I wonder what a Thranduillion D&D session would look like XD!

Omg it's amazing that you asked me this question, because literally just this morning I was chatting with my sister about her starting to play tabletop D&D with her old college buddies! I said to her, "Man I'm jealous and I wish I could join in, but I would just be so lost and confused and annoying because I'll need everything explained to me multiple times." XD My sister is also trying to get me to play BG3, and although it's really, really tempting, I'm afraid even venturing into that would take up what little free time I have left!

Anyway, going into your question that I LOVE so much, about what the Thranduilions would be like if they had a D&D session. Using my limited knowledge of the actual gameplay, it would go something like this:

The Royal House of Greenwood Plays Dungeons & Dragons

Characters Chosen

Everyone in the family prefers to play Elves but sometimes may choose a Half-Elf, Human, Dwarf, or Halfling. Legolas may dare to try controversial classes (i.e. dragonborn, half-orc), but only when their parents aren't playing.

Mirion: Barbarian. Values Strength.

Turhir: Paladin. Values Constitution.

Arvellas: Wizard. Values Wisdom.

Gelir: Ranger. Values Dexterity.

Legolas: Druid. Values Wisdom.

Thranduil: Rogue. Values Dexterity.

Maereth: Bard. Values Charisma.

How They Would Play

The family likes to run the campaign as a group that quests together, rather than individuals, so they work together as a team.

Arvellas is the Dungeon Master mostly because he wrote the guide books and has by far the most organized brain among the brothers. He's also the calmest, most patient, and can keep his brothers in line in case things descend into chaos.

Legolas was the ringleader who initiated the idea to start/play this game in the first place. He begged and helped Arvellas to create the game books, with Arvellas wrangling Legolas's wild enthusiasm and all-over-the-place ideas into brilliant manuals. Legolas also crafted the dice, miniatures, and game boards himself, and he always has the most elaborately detailed character sheets.

Mirion is not much for this sort of game but is absolutely happy to humor Legolas and spend time with his family. Barely knows what is going on and essentially just follows what Legolas tells him he "has" to do. His character is often first to get injured or in trouble, but he laughs it off. Is eating an unholy amount of snacks the entire time.

Turhir is the tactical genius who thinks of creative ways to solve problems and defeat opponents. Mostly does his thing to keep the quest going and everyone alive, but also gives advice regarding combat tactics when asked. Is quietly the MVP of the campaign.

Gelir is just really annoyed by the concept of dice controlling his fate and blames lousy dice rolls a lot. Protests and argues against the "logic" of difficulty checks. Heckles any of his brothers who "mess up" (in his opinion). Chooses courses of action based on what's flashiest instead of what's wise. (He's much more strategic in real life, but this is a GAME. Plus he likes to mess with Legolas.)

Thranduil picks up on the game super quickly despite having the least experience. Frequently leaves the table to attend to crown business (or grab more wine). Assigns Turhir to play for him in his absence because they have the same mindset. Drinks a crazy amount of wine during the course of the game (it helps him relax) but still does not appear drunk, nor is his gameplay affected.

Maereth never gets into trouble (in the game) because literally everyone is half-focused on protecting her. Eventually she gently removes herself from the game so they can play for real without having to consider her. Helped Legolas make the dice, miniatures, and game boards.

So imma give my own take on this because I can't keep my mouth and legs shut. I think Miguel gets hard every time reader asks him to teach her something —or even asking a question, if you will— and she listens to him attentively. The look on her face, her glowing eyes as he explains, he always tries his best to not show that he gets aroused that easily, ESPECIALLY when she asks something on meetings or simply when there's more people around. Gosh, he's probably bugging his own mind saying he shouldn't but it's impossible, the tiniest tint of curiosity on her tone would send him on a frenzy.

Obviously reader is clueless. She would probably do things that can have sexual interpretations but wouldn't be intentional. Like, idk, kneeling down to closely see the details of what they are working on, or even lean forward in front of him to have a better look at the screens, too. And when it comes to the action itself she would be a blushing mess. Her face would be so, so red, burning with embarrassment but also with the desire to feel more of him but not finding any words or not being able to talk at all from the pleasure. Miguel loves this, seeing her get confused on her own thoughts, so cock drunk for him, it makes his cock grow bigger. For me, reader will always blush when Miguel fucks her, she will never get used to it (even if they get married or have kids) and it makes him go ballistic, he adores it.

Anyway, if I have anymore thoughts I will always come to your ask (because I don't have people to share with, and you're so nice and cool) and dump my ideas —if you're comfortable with it, of course— so if it's alright by you, I'll become the 🪱anon for now on :)

What's Thranduil's best outfit in your opinion?

The truth is, Thranduil's entire wardrobe in the movies was so beautiful and on-point with his character, that I can almost say I love all outfits equally. But because I am partial to Thranduil's role as a warrior, I would have to pick his battle armour as my favorite.

In my humble opinion, Thranduil's character is grounded in these 3 roles, in the following descending order of importance:

WARRIOR. He is a protector and bulwark against the Darkness, first and foremost. It is what he spent his entire life doing.

FATHER. Not just to his biological children, but his entire kingdom and anyone he considered under his protection. I lump being a good husband under this as well, because those roles go hand-in-hand.

KING. Yes, King is last, because this is a title bestowed on him and retained by him for millennia only because he was so successful in the first two roles.

I am starting to feel a little bit better than I was, thankfully. Factoid about me: I have a chronic cardiovascular and ANS disease so I'm not the healthiest on even the best of days, but when it really flares up, I get really knocked down and debilitated. I'm trying out a new treatment that has been helping a lot though, and my sisters have been keeping me company. 😊

In more positive (though unrelated news), my one sister and I been playing a video game/visual novel called "Your Turn To Die" together, and it has been really interesting and very riveting! The storytelling and character arcs are top tier! ✨ I just finished one play through, and I have so many new "Little Trees" 🌲and have collected some new problematic fictional siblings to add to my collection too 😁😂 (I swear I'm a magnet for them 🧲 They always find me!) I'm really just itching to write about them as soon as I feel up to it!! 🥰 (Also, can't wait to tell you all about my sweet, sweet murder prince!! 💖 Devoted big brother, talented musician, and so, so dreamy...)

Anyway... Yes, I am on the mend a bit, but I think it'll still be a little while before I'm back to normal blog activity like writing headcanons, answering asks and playing games and such. Jaskier's twenty paces behind him, clogging up the tiny, busy street so he can look into a shop window. He's got a hand pressed to the glass in a bid for closeness, his nose up against the window, snubbed.

Fighting his way back through the tide of shoppers, he's rolling his eyes as soon as he glimpses what Jaskier's mooning over. This is the town's bakery. Jaskier's staring love-eyed at a cake, golden brown and glazed in syrup.

"Geralt," Jaskier says again, not taking his eyes off the cake, not even blinking.
