⚔︎⊹ ࣪ MODERN!MIZU HEADCANONS

i had to write something for her- i was itching. headcanons are always kinda scary for me so i hope you like them

anyways: very light on x reader, with general mentions of mizu having a partner. that being said, no nsfw (for this one).

real quick! : i use she/her pronouns for mizu in this. if this is triggering for you, which i completely understand if it is, then please don’t proceed.

≈ she most definitely owns a cat. mizu is one of those pet owners whose animals reflect their personalities. her cat will tolerate some and scamper away from the rest of those who dare try to pet them. the feline avoids taigen, is chill with akemi, and pretends to hate ringo (she purrs as soon as he walks into her apartment, but she does so with a grumpy face).

≈ surprisingly, the fur baby let you scratch her under her chin when you first came over- which, believe me, mizu noted.

≈ has a butterfly knife.

≈ can do extremely elaborate tricks with it -are we surprised-

≈ one time taigen tried to copy her and it ended with him slicing a finger open and almost flinging the knife into his face.

≈ there’s a blood stain on the rug in mizu’s living room, and whenever taigen brags she’ll just silently point at it to humble his ass.

≈ also has a fish. specifically a beta fish. they’re solitary and will fight others if kept together, and i think mizu would find some kind of kinship with a little angry beta fish.

≈ no, her cat doesn’t try to eat her fish. everyone is convinced that the three beings in the mizu household can read each others minds.

≈ this idea isn’t squashed when you eventually move in, because three simply becomes four, and you all move around each other and communicate perfectly without so much as a look. it’s freaky, and taigen, akemi, and ringo will watch them in silence trying to figure it out.

≈ she wears those giant bermuda-cut jean shorts. akemi hates them, which just makes mizu love them more. she loves seeing her face scrunch up with disgust when they meet up.

≈ gym girlie gym girlie gym girly-

≈ girl’s got a snatched waist, it’s not faaaaiiiirrrr-

≈ definitely has tattoos, and everyone of them is meaningful. there’s a teeny tiny pheonix at the nape of her neck, a dagger on her ankle for swordfather, and a Hokusai wave trailing down her bicep that she gets extended every now and again.

≈ speaking of the wave tattoo, mizu has a deep seated love for the ocean. as in, she’ll never tell anyone outright, but if the group is anywhere near the beach for the day, mizu disappears. they find her via taigen (he has her location under the guise of knowing where to find her body if she gets killed), and she’s waist deep in the waves, just kinda meditating.

≈ she doesn’t get visually cold. like, cmon, sis was wandering around in the snow and sporting a little red nose. she doesn’t complain, doesn’t shiver, and her teeth don’t chatter.

≈ that is, unless you’re close to her.

≈ she’ll allow herself to be babied after putting up a fight (ahem ringo) but a bitch will melt if you fret over her.

≈ factory reset when you try to warm her hands up by cupping them in yours and breathing on them.

≈ taigen will gag if you both show pda, and mizu will threaten death.

≈ this woman has enviable fashion sense. off duty model vibes, even though she’s not trying.

≈ favors baggy clothes, and likes a more androgynous appearance.

≈ that being said, the eyeliner on her slays. just as sharp as her sword, and she’s got ariana grande skills when it comes to applying it.

≈ rbf all the way. most people think she hates them (she does, but she’ll never confirm it) because her default expression is stern.

≈ i think she’d wear rings. all kinds- she likes to twist them when she’s thinking.

≈ if she were to go to college, i feel like she’d pursue some kind of history degree or art history and specify in either japanese military history or traditional art (im projecting-)

In fact, your cottagecore aesthetic is borderline nostalgic for him, it really warms his heart in a way he’s waaaay too embarrassed to ever admit, even if he personally doesn’t partake in the lifestyle

He’ll totally adjust fine to the cottagecore life

He’s had his fair share of experience with cooking with whatever he can forage from the woods (and he actually knows what can and can’t be eaten), so he’s very helpful in the kitchen!

He’s also a very skilled hunter, so he’s more than willing to bring back a fresh kill for you to cook

He’ll skin it and do all the dirty work for you, that way your job is easy

In return all you have to do cook him dinner while he’s in the shower washing off the smell, and he’ll be happy

He thinks your style is absolutely adorable, even if he won’t outright say it!

That’s okay though, because you can see it in the way his eyes widen a bit when you come down the stairs all dressed up in the prettiest little outfit he could ever imagine

He’ll pause and look down, exhaling the smoke from his cigarette before looking up and giving a brief compliment:

Brian is probably the most well versed on internet aesthetics, and dare I say may even be a bit cottagecore himself!

It’s a lot more subtle of course, but you can see it in the way he hoards potted plants and persistently makes sure the hummingbird feeder and bird bath are full

He’s also the most invested in nature, if that makes sense; he knows a lot about the native flora and fauna of his area and will always point them out to you if you’re around

It’s not unusual for you to catch him staring out the window at the birds

He doesn’t really like to cook and he doesn’t forage since it’s not something that’s ever interested him, but he has a way with sewing!

He collects patches for his bags and clothes, and he likes to alter and add to his own garments

He’s phenomenal with patchwork and fixing up tears

Never again will you have to be upset about a rip in your favorite dress or a split seam in your best pair of pants!

Brian will have it fixed up like new in no time

You won’t even be able to tell it was ever torn!

Although he doesn’t forage, Brian always brings a bag with him to pick up any plants he hasn’t seen before or wants more of

If he particularly likes one he’ll uproot it and put it in a pot to keep in your cottage

Soon half of your house will belong to the plants, but it’s okay because he makes sure they’re arranged cutely

AITA for making genderbend picrews of my real life friends?

So I (25X) like making picrews. It's just fun. I usually make myself or just a combination of features that looks cool. But occasionally, especially if the hair options are just right, I'll make one of close friends. My friends know I play around on picrew a lot and aren't into it themselves so I don't share these images with them. I showed my partner (26M) a picrew I made to look like him once, and he felt neutrally about it. I keep screenshots of the picrews I make but I don't share or post them anywhere.

If you've spent much time on picrew you know that the options skew very very feminine. It's hard to find picrews that actually look androgynous or masculine, especially if you also want to see a variety of hair textures. So sometimes, if the hair style is right for a friend, but the friend is a guy and the picrew is all girls ... I make a genderbend.

I didn't think it's a big deal. I've never done a genderbent picrew of a trans friend, and again, I don't intentionally show my picrew results to literally anyone. But my partner saw over my shoulder a picrew that distinctly resembled himself, except, well, feminine. He was pretty upset. I tried to explain myself but he didn't want to hear it. I've tried to talk about it with him, but he doesn't want to, which is fine but I don't know how to apologize and do better if he won't help me understand why he's upset. Was I the asshole just to make a genderbend picrew of him in the first place?

Not random person 12345805859 picking up Jikook's couple vibes after seeing them for 5 seconds together. Its always Jikook. Like for a random person to assume Jk was with his 'girlfriend' and not some random female staff or female assistant, but a girlfriend specifically makes me wonder what she witnessed to get that aura from them. I mean its clear to anyone who sees them, but were they being extra clingy and cuddly? We did see both of them being clingy to each other at the airports and getting in each other's personal space and clinging to each other when walking through the crowd. So maybe she definitely picked up on that energy.

And someone had the audacity to say why don't we view Jimin's interactions with Tae as romantic when he was hugging Tae during their visit for his dancing or at Tae's fanmeet, but only view Jikook's as romantic. Cause the vibe is different. DUH. Like I love me some Vmin, but when Tae showed up to see Jimin to his thisisjimin is actually a perfect example. Jimin saw him, walked over to him, tapped his behind and let him join. He was very calm. When Jk showed up to his production diary live and snuck in and Jimin spotted him, talk about an aura change. He was beaming and blushing so hard and shouting his name and even went in for a tiddy squeeze and things took an awkward 'I forgot I got a crush on you, you got to go, or I'm gonna get shy' turn. Followed by jimin still beaming and giggling and saying that was nice after Jk left. Just like his bday live when Jk showed up or the vegas live when Jk showed up and Jimin melted. Jimin can't contain it, even though he is the one who tries his best to play it nonchalant. This is why I still find it funny out of all the times with members showing up to support each other during hiatus, when we get Jk at Jimin's set me free rehearsal's, he is already there sitting down. No initial reaction when Jk first shows up. Editors were probably like yeah, this is too obvious. CUT. I also kinda don't think they would have even showed it had Jimin not brought it up on camera to Jk during his live. Which is why I'm almost certain their show is gonna be heavily edited, esp now that they are serving together. They are gonna really play up the broness up. lol

Will never fault anyone who mistakes Jimin for a woman. Never. Especially next to Jungkook

Their size difference is very wattpaddy. Ao3 even. It's giving heteronormative straight couple

He loses all trace of his masculinty in Jungkook's presence as if he'd switched a button.

Kiss Kiss Fall into another old hyperfixation

Anyway, I randomly wanted to redesign the main cast of Ouran in my style/ with headcanons and my own embellishments

Here's a screenshot redraw, I'll put all the redesigns below the break bc I did all the main characters & wanna talk about the choices I made. Also I made up that uniform redesign on the spot bc I when I was doing the characters I just put them in casual clothes lmao

(I might do some others later, like Renge, Kasanoda, Yasuchika, Benibara, etc.)

Going in order of my least favorite to top favorite. And dont mind that I didn't color the clothes, that's not whats important here lmao

Mori is only at the bottom because I don't like the drawing that much, I still think the design is pretty good. Though, like right when I finished coloring, I decided a bun/top-knot would look better so it's a bit disappointing there. In my head, Mori is kind of struggling to figure out who he is & what he wants to do, which is why he follows Honey around and doesn't talk much. He does genuinely like being around the other hosts though.

Also, the undercut because A) he has the reputation for being the scary one & it kinda suits that, B) uh do I even have to say it? ...its hot He does lowkey look like Sokka from Avatar tho, especially with the blue accents

(edit: I accidentally deleted Mori's file so now this is the only copy so 😭)

Honey is next because again I think the drawing itself is a little off and the design is pretty close to Basil from Omori, which i didn't notice until it was too late lmao. One of the main things I didn't like about his character in the show was obviously how childlike he was & how girls still flirted with him even though he looked and acted 6; So now he still acts a bit childish but doesn't play it up as much & definitely has a more normal voice, not a fckn child's.

Haruhi! I definitely had to keep her glasses cuz they were really cute and kinda sold the whole 'commoner' thing in a way. But other than that I mainly wanted to balance out her femininity and masculinity to make her more androgynous/nonbinary/gender-fluid since she definitely has some of that going on in the show as is. I also gave her dark circles under her eyes to kinda show that she worked really hard to get into Ouran with low status.

Next up is Tamaki of course, getting into the characters I'm most happy with the designs of. One small thing I tried to do for each of them was give them varying hair tones; so even though Honey and Tamaki are both blond, I went very platinum-blond with him. When I started drawing him, my only real thought was "he has to be a pretty boy" so I dont have much to say about my choices, but i do think I succeeded. Don't mind the modern mullet thing, I can't stop it

Kyouya is definitely one of my favorite characters as is, seeing as he has one of the more fleshed out & heart-wrenching backstories in the show. I think the only thing I really wanted to change was getting rid of the Anime Bangs, so I just gave him this kinda sleek, kinda messy pushed-back look with a blue tint. Even though it's simple, I really struggled to come up with anything, until I found a page from the author saying smth like "I don't like the idea of him wearing neat clothes" with a picture of him in like a track suit so I did kinda the same outfit

My absolute #1 favorites, Hikaru & Kauru. They're honestly the ones that started it all because Kauru has been my favorite since I first saw the halloween episode (iykyk).

I don't know why, but I wanted their hair to be fluffier/curly and more of a natural(?) ginger color. I knew I wanted Kauru's to be redder and Hikaru's a bit lighter/blonder, but only subtly. I also gave Kauru a scar on his cheek from that time in Karuizawa, but most notably, I gave them blue and pink eyes as their signature colors. Lastly, their expressions are slightly different, because no matter how much they are in sync and try to match each other perfectly, Kauru's a much gentler soul than Hikaru, so I made Hikaru's smile a bit more snarky while Kauru's is soft.

Francis would really adore an androgynous S/O! He, himself, participates often in gender fuckery, so if he’s happy you’re willing to join him in that.

Especially with makeup, he’s quite good at making you look more masculine or feminine depending on what you want. He finds it relaxing to do other’s makeup weirdly, plus it requires you two to be very close. Which he will always find excuses to encourage.

Depending on your body type, he’d also love to share clothes with you. Show up every day looking like weird imitations of each other. Just for fun.

Whenever anyone tries to be weird about your presentation or gender, he’s quick to correct them. He knows the feeling of being treated like… less of a person just because of that.

(Unless you want people to be confused. Because if so, he’ll just tell them you’re something different and weird every time)

Russia

Does he understand? No. Does he think you’re still perfect and will defend you to the death? Yes.

Ivan is the type of boyfriend to buy you lots of stuff, so he is a little worried. He doesn’t get your style at all, but he wants to buy you clothes! You’re probably gonna end up with just a bunch of weird stuff (good stuff, but weird nonetheless) because he was panicking about what was too masculine or feminine.

He may be very traditional in most aspects, but he fully supports however you identify and will be incredibly threatening to anyone who acts weird about how you present.

(Although if you want to be as androgynous as possible, he’s probably the best person to ask because his “gender guidelines” are so strict and weird that if he thinks you don’t look gendered, you’re not gendered.)

As the commander of an entire Skitarii army, a master combatant and tactician, he was permitted free will to coordinate millions of soldiers and extra weapon limbs to deal out the wrath of the Omnissiah, uncommon for his kind. While handling all this, he is in a gay polycule with Magos Omnid Torquora (kind of a toxic relationship here), Victro-10 Tiberiax (wholesome boyfriend) and Nalo Deka 871 (protective yandere boyfriend who would sacrifice anything for him).

Being such a high ranking military officer and wearing the characteristic attire of the Legiones Skitarii also makes him look extremely handsome. His body has been described as tall but lithe which sounds quite bishie to me especially when you consider that most beings in Warhammer are built like brickhouses and can easily close their hand around his tiny cybernetic waist (impossible beauty standards for regular humans btw). The canon description of his face is strangely devoid of any off-putting features- no radiation scars, missing teeth etc. that you would find in most Skitarii Vanguard. Stroika is so pretty that the radiation refused to touch him in fear of damaging his beautiful twink features and flawless skin.

In fact Stroika is so canonically hot that every antagonist tries to tie him up or tease him to a point where I am just side eyeing the author wondering if he knew what he was doing. I mean for the Omnissiah’s sake he was put into bondage on 3 different occasions throughout the Admech duology while enemies whisper how they can’t wait to torture him and show him true suffering which is just suspiciously horny

Personality wise, Stroika is a loyal and steadfast warrior who sacrificed his entire life to protect what he believes in and no one can disagree that’s hot and partner material. Just think of a tall, dashing androgynous cyborg general kneeling before you. He takes your small hand in his armoured steel grasp, the crimson robes of Mars billowing in the wind as he swears allegiance to you until the stars burn out. A tragic hero, discarded like a tool by the vast machinations of this cruel galaxy, who still screams out his hate for the enemies of the Machine God long after his mind has been broken by indescribable enemy torture. His flesh may have melted away but his faith and strength surpasses any steel.

That’s Stroika and he’s the best.

Every time i look at 1992 uwe tod i come away thinking that tod just..... should be weird. We can't be having normie tods running around... I want him to be this completely inhuman figure who tries to get close to humanity (because how do you personify death??) but deeply misunderstands some things, especially things like human behaviour and emotions. Máté is good at this too, he just did it in a different way, but after those two the effect is never really potent enough again. I mean, there is something to say for prods with humanized or gentle etc tods, at least theyre doing something else than mrak seiber, but it's not quite it for me at least. He needs to be weird because Elisabeth is weird and, dissatisfied with her life, craves a poem in the flesh.

And for me personally (this is not me saying gender non conformity is weird or inhuman btw, it's not, it's just hot and looks good) i want back the mayerling dress and all that, and the actors should be styled accordingly, if he's not going to put on eyeshadow and blush and get dolled up to kill rudolf then don't fucking cast him?? There are enough musical actors out there who like straying from the mold, the overlap between drag performers and musical artists is not insignificant. Hell, if despite your best attempts macho guys are still the only guys you can find, then cast a woman (trans or cis - for a trans woman the role might be easier/not require rewrites, because of vocal range), cast a nonbinary performer. You don't really have to change stuff in the script, someone who's not a man can still be a "prince" if the styling is androgynous. It really is that simple...

also this should maybe be a separate post but 1992 is so iconic for portraying mayerling as a romance, rudolf running to embrace tod, twirly dancing, Big Damn Kiss (rudolf barely notices the actual act of shooting himself, he's so busy making out) - up until the very end, when rudolf is dumped unceremoniously on the floor. symbolism. It's such a better deeper way to tackle the subject. Suicidal ideation doesn't just beat you over the head violently, mental illness/depression lures you in with promises of a "solution" but actually only offers a miserable nothing.

This is also why it's so important for Elisabeth to get dumped on the floor as well - there's more care in that than in how Rudolf is treated, Tod is obviously distraught, but that's the point and the tragedy of the show!!!! Freedom is fleeting, dreams are fleeting, emotion is fleeting, but yearning for them is what makes us human!!

If he carries her away the moral of the story becomes "if you die you get a hot supernatural partner that's obsessed with you!!!" No!!!!!!! The romance narrative is a big lie, suicidal ideation is a big lie, history is a big lie, it's all connected, but we always cover shit up with kitsch because some people prefer a simple romantic reading to the degree that they warp the rest of the story around it. I stg people have just replaced sissi movie trilogy fairytale prince FJ (1950s) with elisabethdasmusical fairytale prince modern peugeot king mark seibert leather tod (2020s) or insert whatever other boyfriend death you prefer

In 1985 before the Greywhinders death! Frankie Keiths was a babysitter for the Greywhinder children! (He was 15 at the time!) The reason he wasn't killed during Martin's lil murder spree is that he wasn't there he was far from it for personal reasons and also he was at college as well, so when he didn't know the murders at that time.

The Arcadia time

Frankie Keiths is the only human security guard for choices that "Arthur" made, he was unaware of the puppets he was going to work with though. "Arthur" basically throws him in there without any training or whatsoever. Frankie tries his best at his job, he is notoriously known for sneaking in the ice cream parlor and eating the ice cream, that's how he met his friend Viven Beaut! Mostly their relationship is mutual more like siblings hehe. Vi introduced Commander Henry to Frankie when hanging out, he was a little creeped out when meeting Commander but tried to shake it off the nagging fear.

I'm too lazy right now to continue..eh.. Divny can save me or something.

Trans people! We need to give ourselves clear transition goals! /nf

Because for the past few years that I've been transitioning, I've just said that i want an androgynous look. But what does that actually look like?

See, i'm genderfluid, and i would like to have a flexible look that can change with my gender representation. I would love to just be Bram from Scooby Doo Music of the Vampire (good job if you remember that movie, much less this guy) when I'm masc. Here I'll find a picture of him.

This guy right here. There were like no pictures of him online lol. But this would be a very unrealistic transition goal for several reasons. One: He is like 6 feet tall and I am 5'3". Two: He is skinnier/more well-toned than me. Three: He has this very gothy vampirey look (If you want to know more, he was basically in some kind of acting troupe that did vampire stuff but then he wanted to become an actual vampire so he became a bad guy and kidnapped Daphne as a sacrifice. It didn't work. Sorry for the infodump I literally pretended to be this character so much when I was a kid lol) that I would not be putting on every day, and even if I did, that would not look normal!

So what would be a reasonable transition goal? We should have a clear picture of what we want. There's tons of pictures of people on the internet, so we'll find one. But you have to consider a few things.

1.) Your height (You can only change this by an inch or two with those things you put in your shoes).

2.) Your weight (You can change this, but it takes a lot of hard work. I would recommend making your transition goal just how you are currently, but if your outwards expression matched your internal gender).

3.) Your face shape

4.) Your hair type (I really wanted to be one of those "fluffy haired" boys/enbies from Pinterest, but my hair falls flat on my head and has no texture! I tried to get that hair for over a year, but in the end, I couldn't change my hair type!)

5.) Your skintone

6.) Your muscle tone (You can also change this but like I said with the weight, you want to make your transition goal as achieveable as possible! You can always tone up once you reach that goal).

7.) Your personal clothing style

8.) Oh yeah most importantly, will your outward appearance be masculine, feminine, or androgynous (this can be genderless or a mix of feminine and masculine traits)? It is perfectly okay if you want to go for a look that is not traditional! Like if you're a trans man who wants to dress more feminine or something. That's totally fine!

All of these things must be considered when you find your references. I'm calling these pictures "references", like what artists use to make their art piece.

So for my references, I have to consider that I am 5'3", overweight but not quite plus-sized, I have a round face shape, a very fine and flat hair type, a cool-toned pale skintone, no muscle tone, a casual clothing style, and I want a masculine-leaning androgynous appearance. It would be very hard to find a reference with every single one of these traits! So collect multiple! Find one for your haircut that you're going to get, one for the clothes you will wear, etc. You can also edit images to look more like you, by darkening the skin tone (I don't recommend doing the opposite ^^) or slightly changing the face shape. It is also good to find pictures of fellow trans people with your traits as inspiration.

I narrowed it down to hair, body type, and fashion, but you can have as many references as you want!

Now of course, you won't look exactly like your references! In the end, you are you! Every person is unique. But hopefully, having a clear transition goal will help you in your journey :)

i tried to write something as someone who hasn't written anything in a while and whose first language isn't even english

the premise is: aphrodite makes nico realize he's loved ft. friendship, family and love

here's a small snippet !

You would think that after a few prophecies and two wars and multiple close encounters with Death himself, the Gods would give their children at least a week of peace and quiet.

But of course not, it's the Olympians we are talking about after all, and the word "mercy" has just recently been added to their vocabulary.

Nico di Angelo isn't surprised to see one of them looking at him purposely while he's completely demolishing a training dummy, just a tad annoyed by the implications. Implications being: ah, they're gonna ask for something out of him and it's probably gonna be awful.

He has no idea who it is, nor does he want to know particularly. Maybe if he pretended he didn't see them, then–

"Oh, that isn't going to work."

Nevermind.

Nico sighed, lowering his sword and finally looking up. He couldn't exactly pinpoint who it was, since their form was… kind of confusing to him. It was androgynous at best, with freckles that appeared and disappeared on tanned skin like twinkling stars and curly, golden hair. Or was it light brown?

Anyway, they looked annoyed.

"This is your fault," they gestured to themselves, "and it's honestly frustrating me."

"Excuse me?" Nico furrowed his eyebrows. Gears were turning in his head, trying to get who exactly was speaking to him.

"Usually, I'd be thrilled about such an event, you know? Tricky, complicated feelings, the yearning – but it's honestly making me lose my temper, son of Hades. Especially when it's so obvious!"

The gears stopped. Of fucking course.

"Lady Aphrodite."

The grip on his weapon tightened. He didn't exactly have a very nice history with all things… Aphrodite. Meaning: love, but also and especially her son.

He doesn't notice it when she gets closer, her form even messier than when she was a few feet away. He takes one step back, making the goddess raise an eyebrow.

"If you're worried about what my son did, fear not," she waves a hand, "I don't condone it. It was quite barbaric, wasn't it? Accepting love is not an easy task and it shouldn't be imposed."

Nico looked at her pointedly, pursuing his lips.

"Yet you are going to impose it on me-"

"Yes, I am going to impose it on you."

Before Nico could speak, she explained herself, "look at me! I'm a mess because of you! Because you can't accept any kind of love that's given to you!"

Okay, now Nico was confused. "And that's bothering you… why? If I may," because, unfortunately, Maria di Angelo did teach him respect and also he didn't want any more trouble, "this is the first time we've ever met each other and I don't think it's particularly hurting you… physically speaking, at least."

"Of course it is!" Aphrodite countered, "Nico di Angelo, don't you get it? You're a mess regarding love, which is my expertise. Looking at you makes me…"

She makes a face. Nico doesn't like that face even if, somehow, looking at those freckles makes his stomach do a flip.

"Miserable, at best."

It was Nico's turn to be annoyed. Did she think it was easy for him? He was working hard on it, on himself. He was trying his best, wasn't he? Bit by bit, he was making progress. His friends told him so. Will told him so. Wasn’t it enough?

Yet she didn't seem particularly aggressive, just very irritated at whatever he was – or wasn't – doing, so he let himself lose whatever filter he tried to put on himself beforehand.

"Okay. So what do you want me to do? 'Cause frankly, I'm not really in the mood to be forced to do anything because it's funny for you to toy with people's feelings."

"I am not gonna make you do anything."

Her tone suddenly shifted, and it was so… soothing. It was warm, like honey, like a late-summer sunset, like the first rush of heat from a campfire.

It sounded like… Who did it sound like? It was so soft, accommodating. Whatever irritation Nico might’ve felt beforehand dissipated in a matter of seconds.

"I am going to make you understand. Love cannot be forced, yes, and it's our job to accept it and understand it as we like, in any shape or form – which is why, I will be helping you."

Nico, still stunned by the sound of her voice and how it managed to calm him instantly, managed to slightly tilt his head and squint. "Help me how?"

"Take it as a… blessing of sorts. I will make you see you're surrounded by love of all types, and I’ll make you recognize that you deserve it."

That was… awfully and strangely sweet.

She clapped her hands, "so that you can stop being such a headache!"

Ah, there it is.

"And what would this blessing be, exactly?"

"It will last one day," she raised her index finger in front of him, "you will be able to see how your feelings resonate with another. You'll see a light emanating from them which will shimmer in color based on the type of love that person feels towards you. You’ll get it once you open yourself to them."

"Isn't this just… kind of cheating?" Nico cringed. What if he learned something someone didn't want him to know? What if, somehow, what resonated was hatred?

"See, this is why you need it," she huffs, "otherwise you will never get it! A more vivid representation will finally make you less… blind."

"Anyways," a hand mirror magically appeared in her hand and she made a little ugh sound as she stared at her reflection. "That's all. You can thank me later – I need to get far away from you now or it's gonna make me go insane."

She smiles at him. She had dimples. "Remember, one full day! Make the most of it, son of Hades!"

When Nico blinked, she was gone.

Trans musings: I sometimes pass, but maybe only to the French?

I'm currently riding the train back to the UK after spending the weekend in Paris, and while I've been here, particularly this last day, I seem to have reached a startling threshold re: passing as a girl.

For the record, I still dress pretty androgynously in public and my experience throughout most of the time I've been on hormones, even as my appearance has started to gradually change, it's that I'm read as male by default. I default to male bathrooms still for safety reasons, unless I'm with other trans women, am in an explicitly queer space, or am dressing very femme.

The first hint of something odd going on was last week when a family member told me I was looking unusually pretty, and asked if I was wearing makeup - I was not. I left for my trip, and was pleased to be told during one outing in Paris that a homeless man had apparently gendered me correctly, but wrote it off as one of those sporadic anomalies.

Today though, I have been gendered correctly multiple times by strangers, when holding open a door, while going through customs, and, most significantly/alarmingly, given my anxiety, while trying to use male restrooms.

The first time, a French security guard addressed me as madame and tried to stop me from entering. Stuck for what to do, I kinda locked eyes with him and said, "um, decide!", relying on my voice to convey that I was amab, which it apparently did. The second time, I tried to take preemptive action by deeply humming under my breath as I entered another public bathroom, but a stranger still stopped me and said something inducing the word "hombres", which I could not understand and awkwardly disengaged from my locking myself in a cubicle.

The ridiculousness of these aside, I'm wondering if I'm maybe reaching some sort of male fail threshold. Some people have suggested it might be time I make the switch to using the female restroom by default, which would be exciting. I certainly don't want to face the anxiety of being stopped in public bathrooms from now on. However, there are some factors that have me cautious about assuming I'll be read as more femme;

Casually polling other trans international travellers, it sounds like trans women are more easily read as women in France or Germany than in the UK or US, I guess due to cultural differences with presentation, etc. As I've only noticed this in France (the family member comment being the exception?), that may be the predominant factor over my appearance, and I don't want to cause scandals back in the UK by assuming I'll be ambiguous enough to not have security called on me in the women's WC.

As I don't speak French, I was not talking much during these instances, until I did so deliberately, and as shown my voice will immediately out me. Although I don't generally speak a lot while using public restrooms, if I'm with a friend I might, so I have to keep that in mind.

I'm wearing a pinkish shirt today, and that with my somewhat visible breast bump may be pushing me over the edge. This might not apply in other clothes. However, some of the male fails were with my coat done up, so who knows?

Regardless, I'm going to have to take note of this going forward, and see how more people react. I have friends who say that they are reading me as feminine first in various photos, which is encouraging, but I find that trans supportive people tend to have more leeway on that, even if they're not themselves aware of it. I will also need to start more seriously looking into voice training, because if I am nearing an edge, I can maybe push myself more fully over it with more explicit presentation and a better matching voice - exciting! I just hope that in the interim I don't have to deal with too many unpleasant interactions like bathroom ones today while I find my feet.

Perfect To Me

Y/n walked through the space mall, looking for anyone they recognized. Shiro had decided everyone needed a break from saving the galaxy, even if just for a few hours. Which provoked Lance and Pidge to suggest going to the space mall again, and seeing as no one disagreed, except for Keith of course, Shiro agreed, which brought us to now.

Deciding to head over to the food court, Y/n turned to head in the direction of the food court when they heard a familiar voice. Stopping they listened to the voice, realizing it was Lance's voice Y/n turned towards where his voice came from, smiling widely they walked in that direction. Rounding the corner Y/n could finally see Lance, about to shout out to him they froze.

Lance was flirting with a very feminine looking alien, beautiful lavender skin with neon purple hair to compliment her skin, she was just overall breath taking, the perfect definition of femininity. Y/n's smile instantly dropped as they watched the interaction, they couldn't help but look down to examine their own self.

They weren't to feminine but also not to masculine, you could say Y/n was a perfect mix. With h/l and h/c hair, s/c skin, and a androgynous outfit Y/n couldn't help but tear up. They didn't notice the two in front of them had stopped talking, only looking up when Lance called out to them.

"Y/n?" Lance called out, Y/n looked up at him, tears in their eyes as they turned around, running away from the scene leaving Lance to call out for them in shock. Finding an isolated hallway away from the crowd, Y/n walked into it, leaning against the wall they cried silently, a few soft sobs and whimpers escaping every now and then.

"Y/n!! Y/n where are you?!" They heard Lance call out, freezing as they heard the concern in Lance's voice. Y/n buried their face in their hands, not wanting Lance to see them like this they listened to Lance's hurried footsteps coming closer to where they were.

Finally Lance's footsteps stopped, Y/n looked over towards the entrance of the hallway only to quickly look away when they saw Lance standing there. "Y/n there you are! why did you run away..." Lance's voice faded as he got closer, clearly seeing Y/n's distressed features He couldn't help but feel guilty knowing he was the one who caused them to feel like this. Stepping closer Lance crouched down, trying to meet Y/n's gaze. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you sad. Look at me, please?" Lance whispered, placing his hand on their check gently, guiding Y/n's face towards his to meet his soft gaze.

Y/n took in a shaky breath when they saw the guilt and worry on Lance's face, they couldn't help but feel bad as more tears fell down their s/c checks. Lance gently wiped their tears away, slowly rubbing their check with his thumb he looked into their eyes, tilting his head to the side slightly.

"I know it's probably a stupid question but, what's wrong my love?" Lance asked gently, watching as Y/n looked away shamefully "I just don't feel like I'm good enough for you.." Y/n whispered, pulling away from Lance's gentle touch. Lance stared at Y/n in shock before pulling them into a tight embrace, holding them against his body tightly Lance asked "What made you think that?! I know I flirt with other people sometimes, okay a lot of the time, but you're the only one for me Y/n."

Y/n weakly tried to push Lance off, but to no success Lance's grip didn't budge. Y/n slowly gave up, clinging onto Lance they explained shakily "She was so much prettier than me, I know how much you like girls and I know I don't really look like a girl and I'm sorry." Y/n sobbed quietly, gripping onto the fabric of Lance's jacket.

Lance was frozen, he didn't expect to make his love feel so little about themselves, he never intended for this to happen. "Y/n please look at me." Lance whispered, pulling back far enough to look at Y/n, tears forming in his own eyes "You don't have anything to be sorry about, if anything I should be the one apologizing for making you feel like this. You are perfect to me, you don't need to be more feminine for me to like you more, because I already love everything about you."

Lance said gently, cupping both of Y/n's checks in his hands he closed his eyes, leaning his forehead against Y/n's forehead. Y/n closed their own eyes, listening to his every word "You're so different from all the girls I've flirted with, that's what made me fall in love with you. You're so uniquely you and I love it, I love you." Lanced whispered opening his eyes and pulling back to look at Y/n.

Y/n opened their eyes to look at Lance, their heart swelling with relief, love, and joy as they rested their hands on top of his "Do you really mean that?" Y/n asked, a small smile on their face as their eyes searched Lance's own eyes. "I mean it with my whole heart, I'm sorry again, for making you feel so horrible."

Lance apologized. leaning in to press a gentle kiss to Y/n's lips. Y/n froze before melting into the kiss, and they couldn't help but smile into the kiss, when they felt Lance smile. Pulling away slowly, they both stared at each other before bursting into laughter.

Lance stood up, bringing Y/n up with him as he wrapped his arms around their waist hugging them close to him. "How about we go get some food? It'll be my treat I promise." Lance suggested to which Y/n nodded to "Sure, just try and promise me you won't flirt with anyone." Y/n said to which Lance responded with "The only person I'm gonna be flirting with is you baby."

Lance flirted, laughing when Y/n lightly punched his shoulder hiding their reddening face behind their hand. He kissed their forehead, pulling their hands away from their face gently "Don't hide that cute face that I love." Lance said, pressing a loving kiss to their lips.

Y/n sighed happily once Lance pulled away, a loving look on their face as they gazed at Lance. Lance grabbed Y/n's hand, pulling them to the direction of the food court "Come on love, we're going on a date." Lace announced proudly, giving Y/n a checky grin as they walked hand in hand, and Y/n could only laugh lovingly as they allowed Lance to drag them away.
