I’ve never really watched it, and I breezed through a few to try to understand, but I still don’t get it 😞😞 It kinda just seemed like a longer version of his older videos with a bigger production?? i wasn't alienated, so i can only point own differences and traits (??) that weren't balanced out right away by either Phil or Dan himself. in dd videos Dan is ruder than usual and it feels less like banter. like, he is purposefully rude, loud, mean, annoyed, and offensive in a way. and if usually, you understand that it's not real because Dan either laughs or his "collaborator" laughs genuinely or gets on board and plays along – here it wasn't like that? or it wasn't like that always. during dd he was saying stupid and harmless things but the delivery was like he was punching someone with his words. gladly, Dan is a bad actor, so it was just awkward most of the time (at least to me), and that indicated that he was just fucking around and all of these is his weird concept of satire. there was a "i don't really wanna be here" vibe sometimes. some topics of the videos were purposefully boring and their point was to show that youtube is full of recycled content and there is so little originality on the platform? (allegedly! this is one of my understandings). he definitely tried to explain the whole big concept of dd somewhere, i just don't remember where (probably in a liveshow), and video descriptions can be very telling as well. also, he was using his fandom A LOT. we were giving him content, 45% of dd is phandom-based videos. it can weird people out, i can understand that. i'm not a huge fan of all these twitter screenshots and Dan reading them out loud. but as a part of a bigger concept i can let it slide.

anyway, for me it felt a bit disingenuous. like he would rather do anything else or nothing at all than dystopia daily. but his "annoyed at everyone and everything" dd persona fit into that. so i'm not mad it exists. it's a fucking concept and a half. and it's so funny to look at it and not take it seriously. there were good, cute and genuinely funny moments. just, the whole thing still feels like it was a challenge to youtube. and like he wanted to bait people. i don't know, i haven't rewatched any of the videos. my thoughts are based on memories.

i think in the beginning Dan was like: am i doing what i want to do (and there's no budget around); am i doing what youtube algorithm wants from me?; or am i doing what the audience wants? and he tried to create a piece of content that fit all three categories, and create it very fast. and that's why dd was such a roller coaster.

ALRIGHT. SO. DD is, of course, the doordash driver/delivery driver/designated driver for the Crabs. during and after the fall ball, DD is more familiar with the Crabitat and Baltimore than anyone on the team. there's the other staff, of course, but they're not important right now.

the actual stuff about DD and parker being friends is below the cut. there is kind of a lot

i like to imagine that DD is a college student. she works weird hours and gets little sleep because of it, so she's routinely awake late at night. one time, parker placed an order after midnight because he knew he would forget by the next day. he figured she'd get it after she woke up. but no, at the ripe hour of one in the morning, he gets a knock on his door and it's DD with his walmart-brand cough syrup and ibuprofen. and parker feels REALLY BAD about it. he gives her a $20 tip, which is like, more than the entire order. DD doesn't reject it, because money is money, but is just like "lol it's ok this is literally my job."

(meanwhile, declan would order shit like 26 boxes of bandaids at 2 am because she wanted to make a mosaic with them)

also, i REALLY love the headcanon that parker volunteers at the library. because 1) i volunteer at my library in my spare time and i truly love libraries in general, and 2) i mentioned this in the crabitiat, but someone brought up parker reading to kids, and my aunt is a children's librarian. she does these silly costumes with some of her storytimes, especially for the special events. as a result, she has a closet that could rival miss frizzle's. so the idea of parker reading to kids in some dumb costume is so precious 2 me

anyway, back the DD stuff: since DD is a college student, i'd imagine they'd visit the library semi-regularly. i know lots of universities tend to have libraries, but with her weird work schedule i would think that they might go to school online. or, maybe they're in-person but they're always at the university library at night (since it's open) and just need a change of pace for daytime. whatever the reason, she and parker run into each other at the library a lot. at some point, she's walking past the children's section at the library and is like "wow that guy reading looks super familiar... can't place it tho" so she watches for a bit. and parker's like WHY THE FUCK IS DD HERE. WHAT DID I DO. because all he can see is DD squinting menacingly at him from a few yards away. and then afterwards she walks up to him and is like "you're really good at this librarian stuff, they should start paying you for this shit" and parker's smiling and nodding but also thinking then why the fuck were you giving me a death stare... but that's just her resting face.

when at the library, DD starts finding and bugging parker whenever she needs help finding something, since she already knows him. parker is absolutely ecstatic about this, since he feels bad when people do things for him and he does nothing in return. like yeah, she's literally a delivery driver, it's a transaction, you're supposed to pay and that's all, etc. but parker just Feels Bad, even though he doesn't really order anything besides food and, occasionally, pain meds. DD always gets him water when he orders pain meds (because he typically orders them at like, 1 or 2 am) and he just does not feel like money is enough compensation for making someone go to walmart at 1 or 2 am. so, now that DD needs him for something, he feels a lot better about bugging her. but the thing is, he's the most normal customer DD has. DD is used to having to track down shit like stale baguettes, melted sundaes, three gallons of cranberry juice, live crickets, statues, something that looks like it might be a worthy sacrifice for deb, etc., but parker is like "if you have the time, would you please get me french fries from mcdonald's" then tips her $10 and apologizes upon her arrival. like dawg that is the easiest task she is going to have all day.

slowly, DD starts feeling more comfortable asking parker for things and just being around him in general. she starts greeting him with "hey, dork!" or something similar, and starts helping him with whatever task he is doing while taking a break from schoolwork. and parker's like, "oh good, i've gotten a good grade in friendship, which is both normal to want and possible to achieve." at one point, DD steals a sharpie and draws a little smiley face on parker's hand, and parker starts tearing up a little bit.

one of my personal headcanons for parker is that he bakes when stressed (and he's a good baker, too). the day before the S1 election results, parker has to order cbd gummies or something to make him not actively neurotic. so DD arrives and gives him the stuff and he's like "hey thanks! would you like two or more pies for the road?" and it's not like DD is going to say no, so parker invites her in to the apartment so that she can pick whatever she wants and take it. and she walks in and there's aluminum foil-covered dishes on all surfaces in the kitchen. he's set up a makeshift shelf because there's not enough room on the table and counters, especially not since he is currently still making a loaf of banana bread. DD stares in awe and horror at the stack of dishes in the sink. and parker's just like "yeah haha i've been busy :) if you need help carrying stuff to your car i can try, but i can't carry much with my cane" (the cane is another personal headcanon of mine). and from then on, parker tips DD by giving them some random dessert he's made.

during season 2, juke gnocchi moves into the apartment with parker. since parker and DD are friends by this point, parker will sometimes complain about juke doing things like molting and leaving the skin in his laundry or listening to music too loudly. meanwhile DD is trying so hard to conceal her facial expressions because she knows juke. (because they are from rival mobs. what, you thought DD just made stuff appear out of thin air once the Crabs order it? no. she has criminal connections with every store front in baltimore. she can just straight up rob a place if one of the crabs doesn't venmo her the money before she has to check out. unlike juke, she is actually somewhat good at being in organized crime). and so sometimes parker will be like "yeah it's super annoying that juke is in the mob because his rivals keep taking me hostage. they think juke and i actually get along or something" and DD is like "wow haha that's crazy. out of sheer curiosity, do you happen to know which mob they were from, as well as a name and general physical description?"

i know DD is supposed to remain Unknowable and Mysterious as part of the bit, but it's too late i've lored her. my bad

Okay, so I want to start this off by saying that all this happened a while back and when it happened I told my best friend who is on Greta twitter because I knew she would freak out and she told me about this blog and told me I HAD to submit my story for you guys to read, and I felt like enough time has passed since it happened, so here it goes. So I am a student at Vanderbilt in Nashville and on the nights and weekends I sometimes drive for DoorDash. Typically I don't have a ton of time on weeknights to do deliveries especially in Nashville traffic, so I maybe do 5-6 orders on a good night.

So on this night it was raining and I almost didn’t go out because I didn’t particularly want to drive in the rain but, money talks I guess, so I opened the app and set myself as available and started to drive around until a dispatch inevitably came in. As I circled the parking lot of my dorm I got a delivery for Panera Bread and headed to pick it up. Thankfully I like to listen to music and drive so going a little further than I typically do didn’t seem like such a big deal. So I go in a pick up a Steak Sandwich and a Chai Latte with Oat Milk ( I don’t know why I remember that, I guess because I feel like those 2 things don’t go together?) anyways, so I pick it up and DD gives me directions to the house. Now I typically avoid this part of Nash because the streets are not very wide and they are poorly lit, couple that in with the rain and its a perfect storm, but it was too late. I had this persons food and they had already tipped me, so I drove down this dark ass winding street looking for the numbers on the mailboxes in the pouring rain and I actually drove past it the first time but the second time I got it and pulled into the long drive way that led up the the house. This house was massive and super hidden from the road, I was actually a little nervous going to the door. Now it didn't occur to me at that moment that the delivery for 'Josh' could have ever possibly been for Josh Kiszka but, a mans gotta eat I guess. So I checked the delivery preferences as usual and saw that they didn't have contactless delivery selected which meant I had to physically hand it to someone at the door. So I jumped out of the car and ran up to the porch and knocked on the door, and waited for what seemed like years for someone to answer. They finally did and I said "Hi, I have an order for Josh" and the guy that answered said, "Oh, yeah he is around here somewhere." and so I reached out to hand him the bag. He took it with a smile and thats when I saw Josh walking up behind him. He smiled at me and I realized instantly who he was and where exactly I was at. The guy who answered, handed the bag back to Josh, and so I then handed him the drink carrier which he also passed back to Josh.

See, I would call myself more of a casual fan of the band, but like, my best friend knows and loves them and talks about them all the time and so I knew who he was as soon as I saw him. Paired with the delivery name of Josh, it all made sense. I'm not going to lie I was a little starstruck and didn't want to look him in the eye so I instead stared at the other guy.

I had no idea why this part was "interesting" as she said, but when I told her what the guy looked like that answered the door she gasped and was in disbelief. He was average height I would say maybe 5'8" maybe a tad shorter, very short brown hair with a fairly recent looking hair cut. He had a colorful bandana folded up and tied around his head, which I thought was weird for at home lounging but what do I know... He had a very memorable smile, with a slight gap in his front teeth and really nice blue eyes or maybe green. It was hard to tell and I was trying to get out of there asap. They both said thank you, and I turned around and sprinted back to my car. I called my friend immediately to tell her what had just happened and she couldn't believe it as much as I couldn't. Needless to say I don't accept deliveries on that side of town anymore.

So that is the story of the night I accidentally delivered food to Josh Kiszka's house in the pouring rain, and I hope you all find it as fascinating as she did.

I feel like I have to get this out of the way first and foremost, Kiki from Kiki's Delivery Service is my top kin and is probably my favorite character of all time. More recently, Dani Clayton from Haunting of Bly Manor, she's a sweetie and I love her. As for characters I just love, BMO from adventure time has gotta be up there. THEY'RE JUST SO GOSH DARN ADORABLE I CAN'T HELP IT. Aled from the Heartstopper comics is also such a sweetheart and I love him too. And Will & Joyce byers for, once again, being sweethearts. Sorry I'm the random anon who keeps sending you messages but I'm newer to this fandom and I don't know where to go for the inside scoop. I just need someone to flail with me for a minute over Phoenix talking to Rooster about breaking the hard deck, insubordination, etc and Rooster's just like "don't worry about it" and continues to argue with Mav in front of all of them. Does this make anyone else laugh? He's like "don't worry they're not kicking me out, just watch" while everyone else is fearing for their lives every minute that one wrong word - they're gone. He's legitimately the only one constantly talking back to Mav. It may be 'toxic' but I choose to see it as 'I know nothing bad will happen to me while he's in charge' - like when your dad is the boss. It means you'd get 10x more chances than anyone else. And I really love that little scene between Phoenix and Rooster on the airfield. I love how confident Phoenix is about being chosen for the mission. She's like "I'm going" and that's that. And Rooster's "don't worry about it" always cracks me up a litte. It's Miles' tone and delivery. He's like "whatever" right after he's almost crashed his jet into a mountain and done a huge set of angry, teary-eyed push-ups :DD

I think Rooster was initially worried that Mav was gonna wash him out since he'd already pulled his papers, but you can definitely tell he knows Mav better than any of the other Daggers. He knows just how good Mav is and he also knows there won't be any serious consequences for him if he talks back to Mav. Plus I also think he just can't help himself. Being around Mav makes him lose control because he's got so much unresolved bitterness in him, and Phoenix's reaction implies that it's unusual for Rooster to act that way.

What are your top 5 Mulder moments ?? Love your blog 😍❣️!!!

omg thank you!! and oh lord. okay i'm going with moments that aren't at their core msr bc that's probably a separate list, but they might sneak in here.

1. "you got nothing to fear if you're righteous people." "just in case we're not, we could use a little righteous help here." (signs and wonders) this is the only xf moment that was so funny to me i literally laughed aloud for like 10 minutes, and it’s 90% dd’s delivery. mulder's one liners are one of the best parts of his character, thinking about that one post about mulder stepping onto a crime scene and starting his comedy routine because it's so true! obviously wholesome and tragic and serious moments are also great, but txf can be very funny, and mulder's lines are a huge part of keeping the show light enough that it doesn't always take itself too seriously.

2. "hey now... none of that." (existence) this moment sends me to another plane of existence (lmao get it?) but seriously we focus a lot on scully's journey with children (rightfully) but mulder's arc involving what in the end will make him happy is so poignant. from ivf to getting together with scully knowing that children can never be, to coming back from the dead to find that's not the case, this culmination where we see, no, mulder wants to be a father, is almost more satisfying than the kiss that follows. he wants william. the superb acting from dd gets me so hard here because the writers give us no explicit conversation about it!! but we know anyways, from the way mulder holds his child for the first time, quietly telling him not to fuss, because he'll be used to being held in these particular arms in no time and then the show ends.

3. "i did, i liked it." (pilot) "mmm no, not skinner." (redux ii) okay, i'm cheating just a bit but i love love love what both of these moments represent about mulder. for a man who has lost everything, been left by everyone who's proclaimed to love him, who has every reason to have trust issues, he's so eager to believe in people. he's so relentlessly hopeful, not just about aliens, but about the people in his life. an agent most certainly sent to spy on him? instead of nitpicking her whole background until he's so paranoid he scares her away, he reads her thesis. and guess what? is open enough to the idea of her that he likes it! everything (including his trusted dying partner) pointing to his boss being dirty? no, he wants to trust him. god, even when his hope and faith is being used against him (see: diana) i still have to appreciate it. he's a beautiful human for going through so much and still having that capacity to believe in others.

4. mulder killing roche. (paper hearts) god. GOD. i love when episodes reflect the entire show in a way, and that's what paper hearts does to me. roche essentially leads mulder on a wild goose chase, dangling his sister as the reward. and of course, in some ways, mulder falls for it. but when it counts, when it's the life of an innocent on the table, mulder knows when to end it. despite the turmoil in his eyes on that bus, he shoots roche point blank for no other reason than because he's good. he's a good man. the show doesn't need to tell us that too often because it shows us. also s/o to mark snow because the music here is almost too good.

5. "the man was abducted. we all know it. everybody in this room knows it!" ... "then what can i say?" (fallen angel) there's not much gushing i can do about this line, because it speaks for itself. there are a bunch of moments that reflect this idea, but i love this one a lot. even at the beginning of the show, he understands how corrupt the government is. he suspects the truth might be irretrievable. but what we see (what scully sees, why she remains) is his relentless pursuit of it. at times that pursuit is frustrating, selfish, draining.. but it's a pursuit for the honest truth. and mulder will never pass up an opportunity for to remind those in power that he is after them, even if it means being humiliated. an absolute icon.

The one where... a Kansas weatherman’s emotions affect the weather and after a flying cow destroys Mulder’s room there’s only ONE ROOM at the motel.

Best: Scully: Well, it seems to me that the best relationships - the ones that last - are frequently the ones that are rooted in friendship. You know, one day you look at the person and you see something more than you did the night before. Like a switch has been flicked somewhere. And the person who was just a friend is... suddenly the only person you can ever imagine yourself with. Love this speech coming from Scully - we know talking about her emotions is difficult for her, so to open up even in a slightly detached second person way (thinking back to her therapy session in 2x13 Irresistible) and even to a third party is big. I tend to think it was not just one “switch flicked” moment, but a series of moments where she acknowledges - to herself if no one else yet - what he means to her. The ones that always come to me are when she smiles up at Mulder in his hallway and tells him she just knew he wasn’t dead in 3x02 Paperclip; and in 4x14 Momento Mori when she writes in her journal to Mulder and decides that she wants to spend her remaining time with him. There are probably countless others along the way.

Worst: I just added up all the evidence - this takes place 6 months after Valentine’s Day, and it’s the 20th reunion for the class of ‘79, which puts us around August 1999... So chronologically speaking somewhere at the end of season 6 or the beginning of season 7. I’d prefer they didn’t mess with the timeline like this because it makes it difficult to place in the arc of the season and emotionally speaking this makes more sense to me early on in season 6 (if they’re still fronting so hard about not being interested in each other that way in early season 7 ugh, no they’re not). But the show clearly doesn’t intend for this episode to have any forward momentum or real emotional significance.

Rewatch Thoughts:

It was all a dream: Not technically, but we’re back to the Wizard of Oz references and something about this episode feels very out of time (see above re: timeline shenanigans).

If this episode was a fic it would be tagged FLUFF. Look, I see the MSR baiting the show’s doing - and I’m HERE for it.

The “mistaken” for a couple quotient is already high this season but this is the peak: (1) Mayor when they get off the plane; (2) Sheila at the tv studio; (3) Motel manager when there’s only one room available; Holman and Sheila also both assume there’s something going on between them (Holman: I’ve seen how you two gaze at one another. Sheila thinking Scully’s trying to push her onto Holman because she’s jealous.)

Mulder: I do not - gaze - at Scully. Cue ALL the gifs of Mulder gazing so, so lovingly at Scully.

“Checking for head trauma” - uh huh Medical Doctor Scully.

Mulder: He wants advice. Dating advice. Scully: Dating advice? From whom? Mulder: Yours truly. (Long pause) Hello? Hey, Scully. Scully, you there? Scully: I heard you. Mulder, when was the last time you went on a date? Mulder: I will talk to you later. Scully: The blind leading the blind. Peak comedy. The delivery from DD and GA is - chef’s kiss!

Sheila when Daryl is attacking Mulder: Not the face! 😂 Sheila is all of us.

Don’t love a surprise kiss Sheila! Scully is surprised but not really jealous or upset about walking in on Sheila kissing Mulder because it’s so clearly one-sided. They both just blow past it without comment, awkwardly ignoring the lipstick all over his face 😂. Ok, maybe she’s a little bit jealous, but it’s an irrational jealousy.

The swaying! Love how out of place Mulder and Scully look all episode, especially at the reunion at the end. Despite Scully’s occasional musings about getting out of the car, put the two of them in a room full of normies and you see how weird and out of synch they are - except with each other.

You have already written a whole ass novel and i feel like you’re not even halfway done yet (which is a plus obviously i am positively obsessed and im thinking about rereading it soon!). You have Matt’s characterization down to a literal T. Like i dont think i’ve ever read a fic that fit so perfectly with the character, kudos to you! (I gave kudos on ao3 and im so sad i can only give kudos once ☹️).

I only recently started watching daredevil/simping for matt, but im so glad you are singlehandedly keeping the fandom alive! I love, love, love it!

I AM SO HAPPY TO HEAR YOU LISTENED TO BEN PLATT!! He’s one of my favorite singers, and I associate almost all of his songs w/ my ship w/ StarKeri, mainly Starscream’s perspective!! :D It’s the whole “I would die for you I love you I am unworthy of you and I know you’re scared but we can do ANYTHING if we do it together - also did I mention that I love you” aspect of it LMAO. “Temporary Love”, “Grow as We Go”, “So Will I”, and “Ease My Mind” are my main songs for Starscream!! The first one I ever associated w/ him was “For Forever” but just the middle part when it talks about uhhh sitting in the grass and looking at the sky and feeling okay. That’s what inspired my stargazing scene! :D Also “Imagine” and “Everything I Did to Get to You” give the ULTIMATE Saving Starlight AU vibes... I could list more songs but then I’d be listing every song Ben has ever performed, so, I shall spare you...!!

I just realized I never made a post about it because I was so exhausted, but... HOO boy, I hated my new job! 😂 I quit right after my first shift. Well, it was more like a trial-run, the manager said “if you don’t like it you don’t have to come back” and I was like “alright!” [John Mulaney voice] AND THEN I DIDN’T.

But I am really proud of myself for trying something new. I’ve never done anything other than retail before, so it was like... a whole new world. My current job I have is working in customer service, and the new job I wanted to try was food delivery. I mean, I was miserable the entire time, but it felt SO GOOD to not be bagging groceries and ringing up orders and throwing them into people’s cars, oh my God. It felt so good to ACCEPT TIPS. People would hand me cash and I’d have to push away the automatic response “oh no, we do not accept tips here, it’s MY pleasure to serve you here at [insert supermarket name]” which is what we’re supposed to respond if anyone tries to tip us.

It felt so GOOD to DRIVE MY CAR and listen to music...!! And listen to my cameos!! NOTHING was more motivating than hearing Starscream (well. his voice actor VOICING as Starscream) saying things like “YOU CAN DO THIS! YOU’VE GOT THIS KERI! TOGETHER WE SHALL CONQUER ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING!” and me screaming back while driving down the highway “YESSSS I CAN DO ANYTHING I CAN DO ANYTHIN-- oh let me rewind-- YES I CAN DO ANYTHING!!!! I’VE GOT THIS STARLIGHT--” I was shaking, I almost cried three times, I had to call my girlfriend after a very complicated delivery and tell her “hey I’m having a panic attack, I can’t do this” and she responded “YOU NEVER HAVE TO DO THIS AGAIN. TWO MORE HOURS BABE. YOU WILL NEVER HAVE TO SET FOOT IN THERE AGAIN AND I AM SO PROUD OF YOU FOR TRYING, I AM ALWAYS SO PROUD OF YOU” god I love my girlfriend

It’s just, delivery wasn’t the only part of my job... which is what I thought I signed up for. I thought all I’d have to do is deliver the food, but I also had to prep and cook it too, and I’m... not rly good at cooking and I couldn’t figure out any of the ingredients ;o; I was so nervous. And the kitchen was so small, you couldn’t walk two steps without brushing shoulders with someone. I also have a weird phobia with things that can easily burn you, like... ovens, stovetops, fireplaces, some parts of vehicles, curling irons, grills, toasters, literally whatever has the potential to burn you -- and I was right next to ovens that were taller than me, doors level with my face and I was like “nope, nope, I’m not putting anything inside the oven, NOPE, NOPE” but fortunately someone else worked the oven that day so I didn’t have to worry abt it...

I got through my entire shift and was paid $75 including tips in just the four hours that I worked, which is double the amount that I’d make in one full 9 hour shift at my current job!! The experience gave me confidence to keep trying!! Even if I was miserable, I’m just so glad I did it at all. I’m going to look for a job that’s just delivery without the cooking and see how it goes, because even if I just take ONE day off of my retail job and replace it with something different to do, it’ll make a world of difference for my mental health... and hopefully my bank account.

I really haven’t thought about him in a while...Alexander what have you done?I still have it bad for em though! The man deserves love!

I’m like super beat from work, so I”ll use that to inspire me. Also this turned into a fic snippet instead of like, a little gush so...whoops...

I’ll get home exhausted from training all day with Uncle Guile all day. He just wants me to get big and strong, it’s not his fault he over works me, it doesn’t help that I don’t know when to stop myself either. As I open the door to our remote cottage somewhere in a northern German forest, I am blasted with the unpleasant smell of a burnt roast. DD tried his best to surprise me with a nice dinner, he know I work up quite an appetite after my training sessions. My eyes begin to tear up.

“I...I”m so sorry Crow...I....I just wanted to surprise you, you work so hard...and-”

*Smooch*

“Babe...I”m so lucky to have you with me, I don’t care that the meal turned into ash, I”m just....so happy that you even thought to make me anything. That means so much to me.”

I proceed to order pizza (we tip the delivery boy like super well, if they made the hike up here, they deserve it), and cuddle up on the couch next to the fire, making sure he joins me. I wake up the next morning with him on my chest and a half eaten pizza on the table, fully knowing that this probably wont be the last time I have to have a delivery place as a backup plan. Man can bake, but boy he can not cook. It was a wonderful night!

And now for my only table setup I have for 2019, my Anthro Southeast Dealer’s den table! We were given only 5′x2′ of space, so I pretty much crammed what would easily fill an 8 foot table into a much smaller spot, using up every available inch of space I was allotted (which was a squeeze to be sure, but I’m proud I made it work). If you want a close up of any of the group shots, you can see better images over here. Keep reading if you don’t mind a little more serious talk regarding future con plans and my health

Now onto some real talk since it affects future cons: This setup took me 5 months to work towards, and it really took a toll on me health-wise. I pretty much pushed myself to the point where it has taken me over a MONTH of resting to regain a portion the spoons I used not only to do conprep, but also dealing at the con itself. Not only that, I’ve upped the number of items I now offer because I love expanding upon the world of the Imps, which in turn has made more work for me. In the grand scheme of things, I can’t honestly commit myself to doing this again in such a short window (5 months may not seem short, but when you have chronic health issues, it is not enough time). I’m having to face the reality that I may have to cut it down to one con a year, spending far more time getting ready (like a full year) instead of trying to squeeze everything into less than half a year. What this boils down to is that 2020 is going to become a year where I do not sell in person at any cons (I will be making hand deliveries to FWA however since I will be attending and I had fun doing it last year), only focusing on online Impdoptions and slowly building stock for a possible 2021 FWA den appearance should I make it in. Pretty much I don’t want to give up completely on vending because I absolutely LOVE interacting with folks. I also love it when they to come to my table and get super excited for my original works, that puts me over the moon, but I have to face the fact that I just don’t have the spoons to do it more often like I used to or would like. I also want to try to focus on my webcomic Side Quest for 2020 (and have plans to launch a Patreon for it to keep me on task), and I can’t honestly do that when I’m trying to conprep every single day for months at a time because I use ALL of my spoons for prepping, and it leaves me with little to none for anything else creative (my drawn art really suffered because I was too focused on conprep). If you read this far, thanks for taking the time, and I really hope that 2020 turns out to be a better year for spoons, and that I can see how things play out and make a real decision regarding what I want to do for 2021 (right now the plan is to slowly build stock and apply for the FWA DD in the fall when they open it, but we’ll have to see how the year pans out).
