can't stop won't stop thinking about the utter chance nature of billy and freddy's friendship. sure billy was placed with the vasquezes without the whole shazam thing and even if he kept running away, he would keep going back there since they'd welcome him back every time. there seems to be very little chance he'd find his mom again before adulthood, if ever, so it's reasonable to think he'd still be living with them. but this is billy batson we're talking about, who hasn't made friends or been hugged in nine years. billy batson who has run away twenty-three times, from foster homes in six counties. he's good at not getting attached.
but then the shazam thing happens, and he's forced to find someone to rely on, something he hasn't done in years. and freddy starts breaking down his walls. then darla. mary. and they hand him a chance to find his mom, which he takes, but finding out that she doesn't want him is what finally allows him to let go and in turn embrace his family. like without being shazam it's perfectly reasonable to think maybe billy never would have accepted them as family. there's like a million universes out there where he's not friends with freddy, much less family. they're not like, fated to be brothers. they aren't soulmates. we're too insignificant in the scale of the universe, much less multiple universes, to end up together in every one. there's so many forces stacked against them but in this universe they're best friends because billy was the right person at the right time and freddy was the only person he knew who seemed like he could be of use. and it's fucking crazy! you know! against all the odds they're friends. brothers. family. and that means so much actually.

VERY IMPORTANT a dam in the Netherlands, the weerdsluis lock, is directly on a migratory path for spawning fish. They have a worker stationed there to open the door for the fish, but they can take a while to open it. So to keep the fish from getting preyed on by birds they installed a doorbell. Only, the fish don't have hands to ring the doorbell. If you go to their website, they have a LIVE CAMERA AND A DOORBELL that YOU RING FOR THE FISH when they're waiting, and then the dam worker opens the door for them! I can't express how obsessed I am with this. look at this shit. oh my god.
Please check on the fish doorbell once in a while :)

i do unironically think the best artists of our generation are posting to get 20 notes and 3 reblogs btw. that fanfic with like 45 kudos is some of the best stuff ever written. those OCs you carry around have some of the richest backstories and worldbuilding someone has ever seen. please do not think that reaching only a few people when you post means your art isn't worth celebrating.

Studying linguistics is actually so wonderful because when you explain youth slang to older professors, instead of complaining about how "your generation can't speak right/ you're butchering the language" they light up and go “really? That’s so wonderful! What an innovative construction! Isn't language wonderful?"

for anyone too young to know this: watching The Truman Show is a vastly different experience now, compared to how it was before youtube and social media influencers became normal
before it was like, "what a horrifying thing to do to a human being! to take away their autonomy and privacy, all for the sake of profits! to create fake scenarios for them to react to, just to retain viewership! to ruin their happiness just so some corporate entity could harvest money from their very humanity! how could anyone do something so evil?"
and now it's like, "ah, yeah. this is still deeply fucked up, but it's pretty much what every influencer has been doing to their kids for a decade now. probably bad that we've normalized this experience"

the parallels between the way their relationship started and ended might actually be the most beautiful in the history of tv
STARTED AND ENDED ON THE DEVIL'S TRAP
STARTED AND ENDED WITH A HANDPRINT
STARTED AND ENDED WITH CAS SAVING DEAN WINCHESTER

I get my media recommendations the old fashioned way: by watching someone I follow on here go on an unhinged reblog spree of media related content until I eventually decide to go "alright, what's all this then"

Book 2 au: sparring sessions and short hair katara
They like to have sparring sessions in order to keep their bending skills sharp. They allow themselves to go all out and not hold back at all cause they know if anyone got hurt, Katara could just heal them
But anyways, wouldn't it be kinda funny if Zuko accidentally burned Katara's hair tho? Aofkqldkkajfjd
The "I think we can save the hairloops" line is from @linnoya-writes thank you for that!! :>>
