tw: major character death, descriptions of death and a car accident, some blaming going on here

He still misses your voice.

It’s not often, for he’s learned that wallowing in that pain only leads to his own self-destruction. He likes to say that he’s okay, that he doesn’t feel the emptiness that he felt the day you left him. That he doesn’t clutch his chest in sheer pain, all from the anger and turmoil of missing you.

He likes to say he’s okay, but he’s always been good at lying.

He can’t truly get over you when your clothes still live in his closet. All of them untouched, just as you last left them. The shoes you wore the day before you left him still lay idly by the doorstep. Sometimes—on the rare occasion where Tsukishima feels like tormenting himself—he sits by your shoes and wonders what if.

What if he had just answered your phone call faster, right before your car had collided with the truck? What if he had picked you up that day? What if he drove faster? What if he he hadn’t spent the extra time putting on his coat and had just ran to you?

Everyone tells him that the what if’s don’t matter. That what is done is done, and that you are gone. You’re no longer there to hold his hand, and he is no longer able to tighten his arms around you each night. That no matter how many times he prays to every deity above and below, you will never return to his arms. To his home. To your home. (He was always your home.)

He has always known that there is no reason to bet on losing dogs, but sometimes his mind plays tricks on him. He wakes up and feels your kisses on his cheeks. He feels your arms around his waist. He feels your legs on his. On those cruel mornings, he closes his eyes and imagines your voice.

How your soft tone would berate him sweetly, so gently telling him that the pain is only temporary. That there’s no reason for him to blame himself, for you’ve always known how much he loves you. You would kiss his forehead and he would flinch away, leaning away from your touch with a fake scowl on his face.

He misses you.

He’s never been in-touch with his emotions. Many moons ago, you would’ve teased him and somehow forced his stone heart to open up to you. With your sultry voice and warm touch beside him, he would overcome all the obstacles hiding in his heart and reveal himself to you.

He wants you back.

He’d give anything just to hear that “I love you,” falling from your lips once again.

But his prayers have never been answered. Maybe whoever lives in the heavens and the skies is just a cruel man—Tsukishima isn’t quite sure—but all he knows is that he’d do anything just to hear his name fall from your lips again.

Tsukishima has always been a greedy man. He can take and take and he will never give back. He is selfish, and his gluttony lives on despite your presence no longer with him.

And maybe some insatiable part of him wins each month when he pays for your phone bill.

He’s done it ever since the time you left, his heart empty with a hunger your shared photos couldn’t satisfy. When he quickly began to forget the sound of your laugh, he did all he could think of.

And he listens to your voice daily. When the sun seeps through the windows and when the moon is high in the sky, Tsukishima Kei listens to your voice, as if it is the last thing that keeps him going.

The voice message is timely, short, but so you. It’s so simple but it captures all that he desires to hear once more.

“Hey! You’ve reached me at a wrong time,” a small laugh escapes you, “but you can always dial me later. Or I’ll call you as soon as I see this!”

He’ll never hear those “I love you’s” again. You will never call out his name like you once did. One day, when his youth is long gone and his hair has darkened to its natural ash grey, maybe he’ll understand his pain. He will look back and no longer feel as if his heart is bleeding for you.

He will never know what the future will hold. But if he cannot live alongside you, he must live for you.

i do unironically think the best artists of our generation are posting to get 20 notes and 3 reblogs btw. that fanfic with like 45 kudos is some of the best stuff ever written. those OCs you carry around have some of the richest backstories and worldbuilding someone has ever seen. please do not think that reaching only a few people when you post means your art isn't worth celebrating.

yk when you see someone share a finished handmade item that they clearly spent a lot of time and money on and it's just. The absolute tackiest thing you have seen in your life. And then you ask yourself why someone would waste all those resources on such an eyesore.

The top fabric is handwoven and handspun, the whole thing is sewn by hand, too.

Leftovers. Barely anything, all things considered, which is very satisfying.

This thing took me well over 3 years to make, on and off. And now I'm done.

I know that the early, non-Diasomnia stories aren't really your thing, but are you reading the novels at all?

I have been following some of the fan translations and the second book seems intense! Would love to hear what you think about them.

thank you! 💚💚💚 I'm not really sure why you think I don't like the earlier arcs though, I love pretty much all the characters and their storis! (I think 5 and 1 are my favorite of the past episodes, though 6 infected me with the Shroud brainrot something fierce.) I just...ESPECIALLY love diasomnia. :') but there is room in my heart for all of these dweebs! like, who among us is not just as ride-or-die for Adeuce as they are for us.

that said, I don't really follow the other adaptations like the manga (aside from a dip-in just to see the new Yuus) or the novels, though I keep meaning to check them out! I do like seeing the differences between the different forms of media, and how certain things get adapted one way or another! but alas, time/a lack of accessibility stands in our way more often than not. :( someday...someday I will have time to consume all of the media...

Nico and Percy's dynamic through the series is eternally funny to me, because it's just. like.

Percy's having a constant mental struggle between his fatal flaw of loyalty with a promise he made to Bianca to protect Nico, versus his Big 3 kid desire to maim other Big 3 kids / Poseidon descendant urge to totally maim Nico specifically. He hates Nico so so much. He thinks Nico's annoying and weird at best, and creepy/sketchy when he's older. The only positive thoughts Percy has towards Nico are "He's Bianca's brother and Bianca was my friend and I owe her/He's Hazel's brother and Hazel is my friend and would kill me if I was mean to him," "He's a powerful asset and useful ally (if questionable)," and "He's kinda pathetic and I feel maybe a little bad about it." Percy has multiple occasions throughout the series where he strongly considers - and on one occasionally actually goes through with - throttling Nico.

Meanwhile, Nico is following around Percy like a lost puppy. He explicitly can never bring himself to even dislike anything about Percy no matter how hard he tries. He has a whole bit in BoO where he's mentally going "UGH he's so stupid BUT IT'S ENDEARING HOW DARE HE." He's totally smitten. He's making deals with his dad for Percy. He's making convoluted plans to help Percy stand a chance against Kronos. During the entirety of BoTL it's like he's playing tsundere - "I'm helping NOT PERCY SPECIFICALLY with this quest! Me helping Percy would be SILLY because I DEFINITELY HATE HIM." Then he proceeds to show up to Percy's birthday party to basically ask him on a weird date and spend the entire next book scrambling around trying to help him or protect him or impress him. And Percy could not give less of a shit.

Just. That dynamic is so funny to me. Percy is the founder of the Nico Protection Club in that he's the one they're all protecting Nico from and meanwhile Nico is throwing himself at Percy to the point where the literal god of gay love calls him out on it.
