Sooo funny to me how people will get so worked up about how "Hindu mobs demolished Babri Masjid"... as though it wasn't built on the ruins of our temple. They'll act as if this is some Islamophobic hate crime which was done to fuck over the Muslims in India, when this is an act of decolonization and a reclamation of what we lost to invaders all those years ago. This is where our Shri Ram was born. And after 500 long years, it has been rebuilt and we have regained what we lost. 500. Years.

This is one of the most, if not the most important sites in Hinduism itself, and we are finally reclaiming it, and the pseudo-progressive people are soooo upset by it. They'll talk all day about decolonization and yet, they are so upset by decolonization when Hindus do it, cause lord knows we don't deserve anything amirite? Honestly, fuck it all. Jai Shri Ram!

Idc what is happening with the CE fandom now, but I read something on a page and wanted to set the record straight, and not spread misinformation.

THIS is a swastik, an important symbol in Hindu, Buddhist and Jain culture.

In Hinduism, the right-facing symbol (clockwise) (卐) is called swastika, symbolizing surya ('sun'), prosperity and good luck, while the left-facing symbol (counter-clockwise) (卍) is called sauvastika, symbolising night or tantric aspects of Kali.

The symbol used by the N*zis is termed the "Hakenkreuz."

Please get your terminologies correct and avoid misnomers. In Hinduism, it has positive and pious connotations, and was appropriated by the Germans for their evil agenda.

This post is not meant to target anyone in particular, but i'm tired of the Western world getting it wrong and in the bargain marring our cultures and symbolism, for no good fault of ours.

is xena worth the watch? i want to get into it for the lesbians but is it better to just watch a compliation or something lmao

short answer is yes! absolutely it's worth it but like. hm.

ok long answer: as a south asian lesbian xena is both the best and the worst show in the world 2 me. its compelling, its camp, its mostly monster of the week, it gives you that 90s tv whiplash of an incredibly serious and tense episode immediately followed by What If Xena Was In A Beauty Pageant. What If Xena Was In Footloose. the cgi is terrible and i love it. callisto is the white woman insane narrative foil BLUEPRINT. karl urban plays two different characters in subsequent episodes. the anachronisms are incredible. there's an episode where they basically do the mummy (1999) and another one where an actual TV crew is following them around and it's never explained how that happened. the amount of historical and fictional events xena is personally involved in becomes funnier and funnier as the show goes on (the ides of march, the crusades, the illiad/odyssey, the valkyrie bit of the nibelungen, a christmas carol, hippocrates and cleopatra and sisyphus and also literal jesus but they gave him a fake name and he's timothy omundson). the relationship between the two of them is never minimized despite the censorship board and each character goes through unbelievably well written arcs. its a show that doesnt take itself seriously in a refreshing way but also will not shy away from heavy hitting plot.

however lmao any time they take one foot out of greece it gets kinda racist really fast and you like have to be warned about it, esp if youre a person of color. it's weird I feel like no one talks about it/warned me about the product of it's time-ness but it needs 2 be said......i still think india had it the worst though japan got stuck with a finale everyone across the board hated and the china episodes seemed like they tried to pay homage to martial art films and just ended up leaning so hard on orientalism it got bad quick. not to mention what went on with late series amazon culture. it is my personal thought that the show fell prey to the post 9/11 tv trap (exemplified by recasting gina torres cleopatra in s1 to a white lady in a later season) but season one is so solid that i do genuinely suggest you give it a shot and decide for urself

Religious Studies Term Of The Day: Yoni

Hey everyone. So, to close off my Hinduism talks (for now) I wanted to talk about the yoni. Yoni is the female genital organ, what we would call a vagina in English. I know that some people talk about “pussy worship,” but like the Hindus have had religious significance of the Yoni for a long time. Like, I’ve been to a religious ritual where they have a linga, which represents Shiva’s genitalia, but it is always paired with a Yoni. In fact, people even worship the goddess at a temple in Kamarupa where her Yoni is depicted in a cave. The yoni is a common motif in Hinduism, although mostly with Shiva’s linga. (By the way, cool ritual, I will say. It was wonderful to watch at my local temple). But the point of it is not to literally worship vaginas. It’s meant to point to the ability to create life, the ability for a woman to create a living creature inside her body is seen as a divine power, even if, sadly, the male vitality is more appreciated and the bigger focus. But seriously, I recommend checking out your local Hindu temple to see the idol of Shiva’s linga and the goddess’s yoni and getting to see how much these faithful people care for it. But I am just one man who knows a very surface level knowledge about yoni, so I’m open to more viewpoints. But for now, I hope you’re all staying safe and having a great day.
