yk the first couple of episode drops were a bit ehh to me but like.. these two just hit Right. maybe bc i knew what to expect pacing/story wise now? either way, they're def my faves so far, especially ep 5. that's my Favorite favorite :]

spoilers for both eps under the cut, mostly just me blabberin abt what i liked (warning: its alotta alastor)

for ep 5, at first i thought charlastors/radiobelles were winning (and while i don't ship it myself, i was happy for em) but then the realization of 'wait wait wait this isn't romo at all, alastors tryna be a FATHER FIGURE?!' hit instead and i went WILD bc thats 1000% my preferred dynamic for charlie and al. so uh.. yippee dadlastors, sorry charlastors..? gsjahafdaj

also the "Ha! Fuck you." im normal im normal im NORMAL im SOOOO FUCKIN NORMAL (IM CRAZY IM VRAZY I CRAZY IM CRASTY IM FUCKI)

mimzy!! (mimzie??) her intro was abrupt, but she seems like a doll, and her hug with al was real cute. tho i do think she needed that metaphorical kick in the ass abt al's thoughts when it comes to her leeching off his strength for protection. about that..

ALASTOR ACTUALLY CARES. HE CARES. (seemingly, at least). LIKE, HE ACTUALLY LEGITIMATELY, NON-FANONILY, GIVES A DAMN ABT THE HOTEL. HE WENT OUT OF THE WAY TO PROTECT THE PLACE AND TOLD MIMZY TO LEAVE IF SHE DIDN'T COME FOR REDEMPTION. MAYBE ITS IN HIS OWN WEIRD-GUARDED-PETTY WAY BUT FUCK FUCK HOOOLLLYY FUCK ALASTOR CARES

and one more thing b4 i move onto ep 6, i've already seen some ppl comparing what al did to husk in the hall to angel and val's dynamic, and while i do agree the two are both trapped in unsavory deals (loser, baby literally confirms this) i don't think al's ANYWHERE near as bad as val. was what he did fucked up? oh, yes, definitely. but it really?? shouldn't be surprising??? al's in hell ‘n has all this status for a reason, so i was really just waitin for a moment like that to happen. however, it didn't do any lasting damage. at least i really wouldn't say so. most it did was scare the shit out of husk for a minute, nowhere close to what val does to angel on the daily (see: episode 6). tho im willing to admit i might be lookin thru rose colored glasses bc i love al as a character. my opinion might change when/if the actual conditions of al and husks deal are revealed, but as of rn, i think al acted as he did there bc husk attacked a reeeally sensitive subject. he would've just been the petty bitch he always is if husk said like.. anythin else. oh and uhh yeah im abt 85% sure he and lilith have SOMETHING goin on. idk who the hell else would be powerful enough to have alastor on a leash

..oh yeah, lastly, lucifer was cool :] silly silly guy (with lotsa trauma) that hit me right in the daddy issues. funny tho, i rlly dont have much to say abt the guy despite the ep literally being focused on him. his song with charile was spectacular though, i need to listen to it on its own immediately

first off. vaggie = fallen angel theorists, i would like to bow down and apologize for ever doubting you. i was one of the skeptics, i really was, but the show did it in a way that (albeit rushed, but what hasn't been so far?, thaaanks, 8-episode limit..) made it seem believable, with assdam calling her out for it..

but putting adam aside, uh, lute?? maam?? holy fuck, step on me??? please???? i mean uh. sick character design yk ahah ^^

whats her name.. emily? the younger seraphim girl, i liked her, she was a cutie. she really did just seem like heavens version of charlie. and the older seraphim woman i (expectedly) have mixed feelings abt. i feel like all would've be great it adam got outta her damn ear cause she might've actually be down to try the hotel with em gone.. angel was doing so well

speaking of angel, ANGEL!! oh lookit that character development, charlie's gonna be so fuckn proud!!! also, CHERRI!!!! saw someone else say cherris the devil on angels shoulder while husks the (heh) angel, and i have to say i agree. they both want the best for him, they just have different ways of goin about it.

You're enabling me so bad this is gonna be miles long

Is the protag of gen7/Ultra Moon but different backstory prior to the games!

Instead of being from Kanto like og gen7 protag, she's originally from Alola, but moved away when she was like 6 cause of her dads job. Note that she never rlly had a close relationship w her dad cause its important later 👍 No negative thoughts, he was just very busy w his job and all. First moves to Kanto, lives there for two years, then moves to Hammerlocke in Galar when she's 8 and lives here till she moves back to Alola w her mom at 11.

While in Galar, her mom befriends Raihan's mom, so the two become friends despite a four year age gap(I hc Raihan as 25 by SwSh games so 👍). They hang out somewhat often, Lilith doesn't really have social media until she's like 10 but they stay in contact when she moves back to Alola.

Cue entirety of Ultra Moon that I am not recapping, becomes Alola's first champion, deals with some Ultra Beasts, fucks around and finds out in Ultra Space for fun. Reverse adopts Guzma as her dad because 1) Man that ran away from home is funny 2) just went through some traumatizing shit together 3) Not very close with her actual dad, has no father figure 4) funny dynamic

As a champion she remains pretty lowkey ig? Continues to pick up every odd job she can find, very close with the people in person but remains stone-faced and professional in any official stuff(battles, interviews, etc..). She wants to promote Alola as not just a vacation spot, but also a place that's a serious menace when it comes to battling, despite the league being so new, so she's very active in battling, visiting other regions for exhibition matches and what not.

But! The gremlin is real. Though she's got a lotta work cause league is so new and shes basically the chairwoman,,, she also investigates Ultra Space on the side because she thinks it's fun and a chance to relax!! She may be professional or kind on the outside but by god will she fistfight a UB if she has to.

Here's the spice tho,,, is invited to Galar along w Alola's elite four for some exhibition matches and a small vacation to meet old friends, about when she's 19 so two years before "current" time yk.

First time she sees her friends in Galar since she lived there so she spends a lot of time w them ofc, gets introduced to people within thr Galar league like different gym leaders and, ofc, Piers, who she has a few mutual friends with. Heeheehe they mainly become friends cause Raihan and Leon r like "You're both my pals so you're pals now" n all is almost good

Finally,,, the crushing part(Sorry not sorry this is so long I have soo many thoughts). So Champ originally only sees Piers as a close friend cause they get along well and have shared interests, while Piers starts like,, a small interest at first and then as they get to know each other more has a realisation one day that he's got a big fat fkn crush 😳

Champ only realises like. Almost a year later that she might have a thing for him when she watches one of his concerts for the first time

Ougoiuoho I havent thought out how they start dating yet okay but I'm thinking like. Slowly start doing more n more stuff like holding hands and then one day "so what are we?" "Dating?" Dbjwbehxisn but I also think it would be super cute if Piers was all flustered confessing n shit,,, choices choices. Anyways 1 year later, Champ 21, Piers 23, they r power couple that terrify interviewers 👍

The Them taking out the Horsemen narratively and thematically important for GO’s view on humanity and love and community… but I do always find it a little underwhelming tbh. This is also true for me in the book, but the book makes the visual parallels between each of the Them and their respective Horseman clearer so it made more sense. In the book we also have the Them gathering play versions of the Horsemen’s summoning items.

And no for sure “cheek” was about the “gentlemen” comment. You bring in Brian Cox for the absolute gravitas and you make him do that, smh.

Speaking of the ladies, to your point about Pepper being a feminist but her hold on what that means is unclear… do they kind of write Anathema like that as well? Is it ok because basically everyone except Adam is an idiot, so the women should be silly as well? Like even our main ethereal girlies are wildly incompetent and that’s what spurs the whole story (but hot, important to remember they’re both insanely hot and in love, and so they are forgiven because I have principles).

What I’m saying here is thank you for making a 3+ hour ep that I am 1/3 of the way through lol

HI!! agreed on the underwhelmingness in both show and book. it's more disappointing for it to be eh in the book bc you'd think that gaiman - who has written a lot of quite good children's books - would be able to capture the whole power of belief/fairytale logic idea behind that scene while imbuing it w actual intrigue, but ig that's just not rlly the tone the book was going for? and i like that they braided a crown out of grass and got a stick sword and everything! and that wensley swung the play scales around like a weapon it's a fun visual!

yeah, i do think anathema is written similarly to pepper regarding her beliefs- she feels them very strongly but some are misguided or based on misinfo. it does make sense that everyone's incompetent bc i think gomens is about how it's not the best of humanity who save the world, it's some cringefail weirdos with a passion for something and who are trying, which is quite nice! but it does feel different when wensley's quirk is saying "actually" a lot and pepper's is... being a feminist? like everything is political but anathema and pepper's things are more directly political. and it is perfectly fine to make fun of feminists/lefties who don't rlly know their shit through specific instances of character writing if the show at large still values feminism and leftism, but given how the women are written (also HE MADE DEATH SEXIST????) and the things grey and i mentioned about the use of north africa in ep 2, gomens also falls short there. it's all a mixed bag though - obv pepper's "i do not endorse everyday sexism" is part of her Hero Moment, so we are supposed to admire her for her beliefs there, but we're clearly supposed to laugh at "another deluded victim of the patriarchy" and the did-you-just-assume-my-gender-esque exchange during the bike convo in ep 1. and obv you don't have to Make An Unambiguous Statement through clapping and cheering every time one specific char says things, but when you make one character The Feminism Character, it does feel like you're making a statement even in places you aren't. but again, this rlly would all be fine and forgotten if the women were written better

is a half-elf blood kineticist!! i’m playing her as a rogue because that is my one talent in rpgs but from an rp perspective it fits her better and makes her sexier 😈 though for a long while she wasn’t using her magic at all because it was taking a huge toll on her and she made her living burglarizing aristocratic homes with her dhampir friend selkie. that actually led to meeting their other friend, a halfling named sienna, whom they were robbing. girl power ! 🦋🌼🧚🏻‍♀️

speaking of burglary 👀 girlie has the kind of Muscular Definition that comes from basically living in an assassins creed simulator for a few years. queen of parkour. bench pressing her friends has won her more than a few bets.

she’s chaotic neutral and the chaos part comes first lmao she is just a silly little guy :-] being chaotically funny is her number one priority. she didn’t set out to have such immoral tendencies but her nature itself as a blood kineticist almost required it of her. it’s a fucked up gift. but she isn’t ruthless, she’s certain. she does have a heart.

I've been procrastinating on art so instead have a DreamSMP Characters Headcanon post! Just a ton of absolutely random headcanons for these characters B), and a few including some design hcs i have, so here goes:

Because he should technically classify as a mob, Ranboo has a very loose grip on human customs (similar to Charlie but not as bad), and is fairly animalistic in some senses, he purrs like when he's happy and will fetch anything thrown. He also does the cat thing where they rub their head on things they like. Because he speaks Ender as his first language, he forgets the english word for things a lot and has to vaguely describe them. He has a hard time interacting with others and making eye contact because of his enderman genes and tends to fidget with his ring and suit pins to help him with it

I hc Tubbo as half-goat and so he headbutts stuff a lot and very often gets his horns stuck in shit and needs help getting them out. He makes small contraptions for fun and really enjoys redstone creations. He has a vase in his house where he puts every flower Ranboo gives him in it. He likes to blow things up because it gives him a feeling of control over the thing that was once used against him.

Tommy enjoys doing art therapy with Puffy and draws out his issues because it's easier to convey than through words. He has low patience and high anger but likes hanging around Ranboo because they're much calmer than him and it helps keep him calm too. He has a lot of battle scars that he tends to hide, but he knows the story for each and every one and finds comfort in explaining them to Puffy in therapy. He has a nickname for everyone, whether he likes them or not, and he rlly likes coming up with them.

Wilbur has trouble breathing now that he's revived as a result of his smoking habits in pogtopia, but he refuses to admit it. He has multiple ear piercings and refuses to explain when he got them and who did them.

Foolish builds for fun and for comfort because it takes his mind off of the past. He's not very informed on the history of the dreamSMP and has a lot of misconceptions about what happened but it's very silly ones. He's lactose intolerant and i won't explain why i believe that. He absolutely hates round shapes and has a perfectionist eye, he will point out all flaws in a building.

Jack has heterochromia, he originally had blue eyes and wore the 3D glasses but after crawling out of hell one of his eyes became red as a representation of hell and a reminder of what happened, though he just thinks it looks cool. He enjoys having power over things, such as owning the hotel, because it makes him feel seen and liked. He has a weird dislike for most american-style food and refuses to eat it because it's made differently to how he would make it. He refuses to wear anything that's not baggy, even his detective suit is a bit big.

Puffy originally had brown hair and dyed half of it because it looked "aesthetically pleasing", almost all of her outfits incorporate pirate-style fashion, such as ruffled sleeves and corsets. She likes to wrap vines and flowers around her horns because she things it looks pretty

Eret has a similar fashion sense to Puffy, just slightly less pirat-ey, so they borrow some of her clothes sometimes if they fit, or gets the same clothes in their size. They prefer to wear skirts and dresses because the flowy fabric is more comfortable for them. Red is one of their favourite colours so most of their outfits incorporate red into them in some way.

Karl absolutely owns those bowling-alley-floor print shirts and bright painted-on jeans and overalls. He has a lot of different watches because having the time keeps him grounded. He always carries a small notepad of important things to remember on it, but ironically forgets to read it a lot. He still owns all the outfits from the different places and time periods he visited, but he doesn't like to wear them much.

okay, so this comes as no surprise to literally anyone who’s heard me talk about kj but his big heart. i absolutely adore that so much of his story is about how his big heart fumbling around saves the day, even when the story is about his own hubris. Whether it was intentional or not ahkj ended up being a powerful story about a kind-hearted party animal with an inherited legacy of violence and mistreatment heal from his own trauma with the love for his people. yes! it was messy and it is a kids show so it had a lot of continuity issues and like…. toilet humour, but underneath it was so tender. kj’s story of wanting to be king for perks, to feeling like he didn’t deserve to be the one true king but managing to unite the entirety of the kingdoms Madagascar under his love as a symbol was so…….. kj’s big heart saves the day <3

even in the movies, where he is classist and bigheaded he still manages to do it? melman is brave because of kj’s empathy for a talking head, and the circus goes back to the Central Park zoo to help the zoosters bc of kj’s love. his line about “it doesn’t matter what you smell like, or what i smell like, it matters what we smell like together.” is what prompts everyone to forgive the lies.

I don’t know how to feel about season 5 after exiled. I know it must have been hard trying to tie everything up, going back to the joke based continuity and toilet humour after the emotional sucker punch of exiled. it just. feels like it rehashes old plots but makes them more complex and I think if it hadn’t been after exiled I wouldn’t feel so…. Unsure. kj in this, starts off desperately trying to prove himself as king (again) for good reason, but then seems to lose himself in petty ways he out grow and serious things reveled through jokes get left behind to make more jokes and it just feels…… kj grew into being a good leader and i wish it wasn’t forgotten again. This isn’t rlly about him, more the writing, and the plot problem - episodic vs long form story telling is a hard one, but it’s what I dislike. Let kj have growth bc he was given some and it’s hard to see it’s gone when we know it’s possible.

I like whenever he does his little pep talks. Or when he says he loves his kingdom. Those are fun & nonsensical and yet, an encapsulation of why he’s such a good ruler. he does understand his people, in a way the juliens before him didn’t, because he was never supposed to be one of them, and left to his own devices with his big sensitive heart made a connection that would outlast even the cruelest of julien kings. julien wants to be loved so badly, and he makes a mess of it, but he holds together the cracks of the lemurs before him, hurt by others the way he was and together they build something worthwhile.

Kj who makes the specific choice to focus on his kingdom instead of personal goals - and despite loving children so much, making the specific choice to end the julien line (it’s reign of terror) with him. Ahhhhhhhh that would be so satisfying narratively.

also, not to bring this up again but i do think it would be beneficial to both their characters of like kj and ted had a idk passionate summer fling and are now each other’s wingmen post divorce. i say again but i barely think I’ve hinted at it so you know, whatever. i just think their dynamic is SO interesting, and the one scene in exiled where Ted saves everyone is just……. ah, perfect. I wish we got a deeper exploration of Ted & Dorothy, and Ted & his rejection by julien at lemur school & losing prom king & his obsessed with being needed/wanted.

I have no issues with any of the pairings that happened lmao, but obv most of them are exes and i think they’re fun that way. Karen, rob, crimson, karl probably, idk, i guess skipper? i don’t think they date bc skipper is homophobic <3

There’s just way too much family symbolism & literally having clover and Maurice ACTUALLY taking his parents place for me to be anything but squicked by kj/either of them/both of them. no shade to anyone who does, but it just makes me feel :////// I also just love their dynamic as friends, and whilst exploring toxicity in relationships can be interesting, i rlly think that if the three of them became more dependent on each other it would just stunt them all. they do better as a unit in relation to everyone in the kingdom.

I didn’t include mort in the family part even tho he pretends to be kj’s son once but he’s included in that. people who say royal trio over royal quartet break my heart, mort is equally important in this dynamic and also. notp thanks

aslo don’t care for pancho :/ sorry pancho lovers <3 it’s just i don’t think he’s half as important as anyone makes him out to be and i don’t think he and kj rlly have that much chemistry, especially not compared to like his interactions with pretty much every single adult lemur. it’s whatever! ppl have fun with it, i just personally don’t see why you’d pick it over literally any of the other side but main-ish characters. i actually think, if anything, kj is more dismissive towards pancho than a lot of characters, especially considering he’s so flirty. and no amount of the Manchurian candidate can make up for that, especially when it was about family again.

kj starts watching todd’s unboxing videos one day when he’s relaxing, after he’s calmed down about the captain booty butt toy being stolen, like 3am channel surfing and like gets rlly into the concept bc like surprise toys out of box is peak adhd excitement. he wants to start his own channel and in his excitement gets everyone to watch his stuff which doesn’t have the care or knowledge (bc the excitement for kj is the surprise - can relate) that Todd’s has and Todd’s show gets canceled. he’s obv pretty sad bc that was Todd’s only hobby outside of doing what his mum makes him do & he gets rlly upset. eventually, somehow, kj stumbles upon Todd being sad and they have a convo and kj realises that he stole Todd’s hobby & that actually, the hovering, full attention of Tammy is suffocating and not something kj should long for. I rlly want Todd & kj to have an end to their “rivalry”. They make up, kj retires his unboxing channel and promos Todd’s, Todd gets to hang out in the plane as a friend to get away from his family for a while, kj learns the value of space.

Manhunt au trash

Cuz I can only rlly express things thru my art but I can’t seem to get myself to draw so I’ll just type trash about the AU cuz I feel like it. Mainly stuff about the characters cuz they and their relationships are kinda different, it’s kinda like I just made characters based off these dudes lmao

- Dream and Sapnap were childhood friends. It didn’t matter that Sapnap had no idea what the heck Dream was. But one day, Sapnap disappeared...

- Later Dream became friends with George, an inventor. George would create fun inventions for them to mess around with. They liked to fight the Enderdragon together (obviously Dream carries lmao) and sometimes would even try to beat it with whatever weird invention George made.

- After the first manhunt (NOT a friendly game. A lot of AUs make it like that which is valid, but in this au the hunting is serious business) Dream and George stopped hanging out, after some arguing. George continued to use his tracker compass invention to try to stop Dream from beating the Enderdragon, and Dream got upset enough to try hunting George too.

- They’re upset at each other but still miss their good times together... very sad. But every time they see each other they get scared because they’re usually out to kill each other, so they never talk about it and instead grow further and further apart.

- AND NOW LETS GO SEE SAPNAP AGAIN! He’s become a wanted criminal since he disappeared. Sneaking into people’s speedruns and killing them. Don’t worry, after doing it to Dream he’s better. He has a lot going on in this AU... he’s a silly boy but he’s also very serious and feels guilty a lot. He’s a lot more positive than any other hunter that Dream needs to be stopped.

- now let’s look at BadBoyHalo yayy. He comes from a very different place. We don’t talk about where he ORIGINALLY came from, but the second place he lived had Skeppy and a6d and Zelk and all those guys. Yeah they exist in this AU but only for bbh’s backstory lmao. And yes, this place is still far from the place Dream is.

- Dream has the power to visit people in their dreams, and that’s how he met Bad. They became friends. This is after a few manhunts happen. Dream looked for a new friend cuz he was lonely since George and Sapnap didn’t trust him anymore.

- Bad thought that what George was doing was wrong, and went to kill him. After doing so, George convinced Bad that Dream was actually the one he couldn’t trust. It took a while but eventually Bad was no longer on Dream’s side. Rip Dream is even lonelier now.

- Honestly Dream’s best option for a friend at this point is probably Illumina. He also exists in this AU cuz he’s in a manhunt. There’s nothing super serious happening in that one tho. Just a fellow world record speedrunner getting curious about the now famous manhunts Dream is part of. Just wait for Technoblade to join this AU so he can steal Dream’s clout-

- Dream, when you get to know him, is a pretty chill guy. However, he’s become rather scary. Outside of manhunts he acts friendly to everyone, but even strangers can feel the dangerous, scary, and even lonely aura he gives off. Everyone avoids him, and he’s used to it.

- George is. Well. I don’t really need to describe his personality cuz not much is different. He’s pretty focused on his inventions though, and isn’t really used to having others around, especially not when they’re being nice to him. He thinks it’s weird (this world they live in is a little hostile and not many people trust others).

- I already described Sapnap earlier. Because of his status as a criminal with a bounty on his head, he doesn’t go out much, and only sticks by people he trusts. He likes having friends, but people can get on his nerves sometimes...

- Bad is. Well. He’s certainly different from the others. His level of politeness is very rare in this world, and it throws everyone off. However, he’s rather violent. Which really throws everyone off. He would brutally murder you and then offer you a muffin when you respawn, smiling the whole time. He’s also part enderman, and since he’s barely met any regular humans before, he asks George and Sapnap TONS of stupid questions about humans. You can NOT convince Bad that Human isn’t a language. He asks the other two hunters to say things in Human all the time.

Andddd these! Im cheating at doing most/least altho u didnt ask: 44. is the most/least like you? Most like me: Fuller. He's. Guarded and hides his emotions and uses a lot of comedy to hide his feelings. I'm really guarded and stubborn sometimes too so I feel it. Least Like Me: Ry'lan. There is literally nothing in common there. Yeah like ry'lan ALSO uses comedy to hide his emotions but ALSO HE LACKS ALL SELF AWARENESS REALLy to change himself and he's just. The worst- 46. would you most/least like to trade places with? Most: None of em rlly they are all going thru it- though were I left teddy in his game, he'd finished his adventure and was super rich. So like since he got his happy ending i wouldn't mind to just be a silly bard, one hit wonder traveling around super rich all the time. Least: Maron. Because BOY IS HE GOING THROUGH IT- 49. is or was your favorite to roleplay? - AHHHHH my children, probs Maron and Ry'lan. Maron is fun because his build is FUN and leads to a lot of out of combat options for RP and moving the story forward and he's just very fun. Ry'lan is just a FUCKIN HOOT every time and he possesses me. Fuller/Tada are tied for second with Fuller inching a head a lil just bc I've played him for so damn long. Least favorite to rp was probs... Shula if only bc the group i was with didn't rlly rp and thus it was hard to convey her harsh and sharp intellectual nature. 50. is or was your favorite to play in combat? AHHH ONCE AGAIN, i ADORE dnd combat i have many opinions BUT- - Teddy is top tier. Mainly bc i LOVE bards and his entire skill set involved controlling groups of enemies and playing SUPPORT with field control and i played him from like lvl 3 to lvl 12 and i loved every bit of being a bard- - Ry'lan was GREAT but i never got to play him long-term so idk if playing melee would have gotten boring - i felt POWERFUL as Shula but it was bogged down a lil by multiclassing and some dm stuff - I ADORE MARON but he's multiclassed and a warlock so there's a limited amount of turns combat can go on b4 he becomes kinda useless rn I'm learning. Tho u love his build as a multifunction tool in and out of combat - least favorite to play in combat was probably solaris and fuller. I tried to do a melee-support build for both of them and didn't find the balance of trying to MELEE while also having spell casting options be that great, kinda just meant u sucked at both of them. Fuller has gotten a LIL better post multiclass but solaris sadly never got to reach her full potential

task 01: spring play audition ( macbeth ) !

notes: don’t give him macbeth thank u i want him to go batshit LMAO im kidding but rlly dont give him macbeth

i also couldn’t figure out how to put this in organically but mathias def knows that a LOT of the others are gunning for macbeth too!!! but he’s never been worried bc he knows for sure he’s always going to get the lead roles so he never really thinks about anyone else, i think it’ll be great for him to not only NOT get macbeth but not even a really big role full stop ? i don’t think it makes sense for heidi to give him a SMALL role maybe bc he IS technically really fuckin good but i also dont think heidi think it’s Best to give him a huge role anyway like she can see the Laziness in him and “acting for the wrong reasons” / not improving as an actor bc he’s never been in the spot to need to!!!!!!

Calling it a problem sounded so serious, you think derisively. Your hands are brushing over the small packet of coke you’ve placed on the desk, eyebrows furrowed. You’ve got ten minutes until your audition, and whilst Heidi doesn’t seem to be the type of person to appreciate tardiness, you’re not used to bending yourself to follow the rules. So you’ll be late. Big deal.

Calling it a problem, you continue thinking, getting your thoughts back on track. Calling it a problem was silly. An addiction would come in the form of your sister Ana, who could never stop herself. And even then, she’s fine. High every time you see her these days, maybe, but she’s fine -- Bad things don’t happen to the Knights. Only good things. Only good things.

Still, you sweep the bag into your desk drawer instead, out of sight. You don’t need it right now, the temptation was just a little too much when you have the bag in front of you; you’re certainly not nervous about this audition at all. Sure, you haven’t really worked on practising much -- but you never do, right? And sure, you’ve been more distracted as of late -- falling in and out of [the statue’s] bed, preoccupied by Orson’s death. But you either have the star quality or you don’t, it’s what your parents have always taught you. Working hard is good, but it’s for the ones that don’t have it, who want what you have. You’ve run through your lines a few times, you know it’s going to be good.

( And sure, you’ve taken to drinking more and smoking more and done a few more lines lately than would be considered smart. But you don’t talk about that. You don’t even think about that. What’s too much? What’s too far? When is enough enough when you’ve been like this, been around this, your whole life? It’s the glamourous life of theatre, baby, it’s just show biz. )

You take your phone out of your pocket to check the time. 4 minutes. Plenty of time then.

There’s a glass filled halfway of vodka and Coke on your bed stand, not quite finished from the night before. You pick it up and down it, even though it’s gone flat by now. The alcohol to take the edge off, but you won’t admit there’s an edge to you anyway. Liquid luck instead, maybe, but when have you ever needed luck? For the enjoyment, then, is what you reason. Why waste perfectly good alcohol?

By the time you arrive, Heidi’s voice cuts to you, unimpressed. “You’re twelve minutes late.”

“Had to make sure my hair was pretty,” you say charmingly, the cheek usually endearing to others. Orson would’ve loved your response, would’ve grinned and joked back, would’ve said something about the importance of appearance on stage. Orson would’ve ---

But it’s not Orson. It’s Heidi, and she doesn’t seem to think you’re being funny at all.

“I think it’s best if you just start, since you’re running late.”

But you’ve already made your way onto the stage.

"Mathias Knight,” you say, stage voice on. Your teeth glint white in the light as you flash a professional smile, but Heidi doesn’t seem to return it. “I’m auditioning for the role of Macbeth. I’ve chosen to do Macbeth’s speech from Act 2 Scene 1 -- Enjoy.”

There’s no surprise on Heidi’s face at your announcement of choice, but you don’t let it deter you. Of course it’s predictable, to go for Macbeth and to do this scene, but does it matter what you audition with, when your talent will showcase either way? You want Macbeth and you’re going to get it, you always do. There was no point putting in more work than its worth, when performing Macbeth’s most famous soliloquy did the same job.

Heidi nods, so you take a deep breath and settle into your role effortlessly. You’ve heard the others talk about needing to have an emotional connection to the role they’re playing, and you’ve never quite understood it -- you’ve played characters you could hardly even fathom being similar to, but you’ve played them excellently nonetheless. Acting, for you, is not about the emotion, or the personal, or the leaving of your body behind. It’s about the skill and the technique and the way you perform it -- because that’s what it is, isn’t it? It’s a performance. It’s a performance and you’re conscious of that fact every moment you are on that stage, your own kingdom. You connect with the characters because you need to, but it’s always been on that surface level, knowing you are playing them. You are not Macbeth. That much is clear. But you’re a damn good actor.

“Is this a dagger which I see before me, / The handle toward my hand? Come, let me clutch thee...”

You’ve never known fear, or delusion, like Macbeth in this scene -- but that’s never been why you’re so good. You can push passion and emotion out of your voice so well that no one could ever see the difference, you can bend and contort your face in the same anguish and people will believe it. What is a tragedy to someone who’s never experienced the bad? It’s just: tragedy. It’s a word. It means nothing.

( Tragedy: a play dealing with tragic events and having an unhappy ending, especially one concerning the downfall of the main character. )

( Of course you’re the main character, you’re always the main character. There’s nothing forgettable about the way you hold yourself, the way you speak, the way you move. The downfall of the main character. But you’ve not done anything wrong, have you? You didn’t murder Orson. What’s the worse crime you’ve committed? A few stolen grams of coke? Petty thievery, small crime -- who is hurting from your lack of consequences? No one. You were born indestructible. You’re pretty sure you’re going to die that way too. )

( An unhappy ending. Darling, your story is hardly far from over yet. )

When you finish the soliloquy, that powerful feeling that settles in your bones every time you perform, you half-expect an applause. You were objectively good and there’s no other way that that could be twisted. Instead, you look out and only meet Heidi’s eyes, facial expression unreadable. For a moment, you’d forgotten, waiting for Orson to tell you how brilliant you were.

But Orson wasn’t here. Isn’t it funny it only hits you in the gut every time you want something from him? His approval felt like an applause from an adoring crowd. His approval confirmed everything you’ve ever known about yourself, and you didn’t realise you craved it so badly until you were faced with the absence of it.

Several beats of silence. You’re waiting for her to say something, but when she doesn’t, you say, “So?”

Finally, Heidi shrugs. “It was an impressive performance. Truthfully, one of the best I’ve seen today.”

At that, you square your shoulders, basking in the compliment. What’s the best part of acting for you? You’ve heard others say things like slipping out of their own body and mind, into someone else’s. No, for you, you bleed yourself out on stage for this: the roaring approval.

But Heidi isn’t done talking. She adds, “I just don’t know if it’s enough.”

You blink. “Pardon me, but what?”

“What do you think about when you’re acting on stage, Mathias?”

The question takes you by surprise. “I think -- I think about the role I’m playing.”

Heidi shakes her head. “The thing is -- I just don’t think you do. I think you’re thinking about the praise you’ll get.”

“Is that such a bad thing?” You don’t have a bad temper, you’ve never been forced to. But irritation ignites within you, an uncomfortable and unfamiliar feeling.

She considers you for a moment, and you’ve never felt self-conscious in your life, least of all on a stage. She considers you for a moment, and you feel suddenly very naked, like she’s looking at something deep within you and she’s not liking what she sees.

“Thank you for your time, Mathias,” she says abruptly.

“No,” falls out of your mouth first, because you’re not used to being dismissed, not used to failing. She said it was one of the best performances she’s seen today, but suddenly it doesn’t feel enough.

Her eyebrows raise.

“You said it yourself that I’m good,” you say hurriedly. “I’m the best, and you know it. You can dislike me all you like --”

“Mathias, I don’t dislike you --”

“But I know I’m good,” you continue, as if uninterrupted. “When I’m on that stage, it doesn’t matter who likes me as Mathias and who doesn’t; all that matters is that the audience does. I’ve been playing the lead my whole life for a reason, and they’ll all call it arrogance, but there’s nothing wrong in knowing that I’m good. That I’m the best. Who cares if I’m connecting emotionally to the characters? I’m one of the best actors on this program and it’s for a reason, and I’m sorry it’s not the reason you want it to be, but talent is a reason in itself. That’s what Orson told me. Orson said I have what it takes. Orson said I was going to do big things. Orson said --”

“Mathias,” Heidi cuts off neatly, and there’s something in her voice that you can’t place. Pity, maybe? But you’ve never been pitied before. What is there to pity in you? You’re the star. You’re always the fucking star. “I’m not Orson.”

The sentence guts you in a way it shouldn’t, and you blink at the aftermath of your outburst.

“Thank you for your time, Mathias,” she says again, firmer.

This time, you move off the stage, towards the door. The only thing you can think about is how badly you need a drink.

for agni its probably elvira! she is from a place she knows next to nothing about besides what elvira’s explained or what she’s learned from school, she is 100+ years old, yeah! while agni doesnt like fully Understand her she still thinks she’s really cool!! it was rlly nice of her to try and comfort her when she initially found out abt Rei Time. and also knitted her a pretty holster that was so nice of her!!

19. what haunts them? what doesn’t?

pen’s is home. so mf much he genuinely loves his party a lot and has gotten really attached but also like he misses home so bad it hurts. he felt like he was an intrinsic part of something that he fit perfectly and was never gonna have to give up, and he got to be w everyone he cared about all day. he’s haunted by mikolai’s wedding lol. he’s also haunted by The Shit That Went Down Pertaining To His Exile, His Subsequent Exile, Making the Pact, Dying, Making The Pact Pt 2, The Thing He Had To Do After He Made The Pact, And Then Also Dying Again. he’s haunted by holding ori dead in his arms and bringing her back using power he now understands was from a Not That Great Place. he barely knew her then but he still thought about it all the time, and now he thinks abt it even more lol! he just is not used to life being. Like This. at all. he was a vvvvvv spoiled kid. (some nobility complex part of him is haunted by lydia! stupid jester!)

he’s not haunted by everyone he’s been a bitch to lol, unless he vocally apologized for it later nfjnf. he’s not haunted by vargas. uh

agni is not haunted by most things and That’s On her super healthy coping mechanism! she tries to not think about her personal life with that much weight, she tries to keep it abstract in her head? but also there are some things she can’t help but get Unnamed Bad Feeling from instinctively. rei. w how last session fucking turned out lol, watching seras collapse in the doorway Will Def Become One. pens Official Title is penance the jester, court jester of tarbyen (and he makes sure no one forgets it lol.) everyone he grew up around had official titles so it made him feel realllyyy good abt himself that he had one too! (he likes that the party’s nicknamed him pen tho, he thinks its sweet >:) ) his Name name is camil, but only his mom n mikolai called him that, so he thinks its very like..... informal, and he likes being a Formal Title Boy, but also it makes him go all soft bc the two ppl he loved most called him that!! conflicting feelings.

agni’s had her nickname since she was really young i think, one of those like, you’re in fantasy kindergarten and learning how to spell and your first name is rlly long, so u employ a nickname very early Kind Of Moments. her full name is agnodice and she likes it well enough! it feels very kind of like. stiff and formal to her tho. she thinks agni suits her better!

35. which party member do they worry for?

pen worries for All Of Them. he tries to follow juni when he’s having one of his (as pen puts it) “freak out moments” bc he’s scared someday it’s going to be something that really hurts him, and he wants to be there to help if it does. pen has fully accidentally triggered ori before, and he feels really bad about it, especially since her triggers literally Set Her On Fire. so you know. he tries to be really careful with his words around her, especially since the incident a couple sessions ago. also, he is Very Concerned abt all of her past stuff with the mahne that he’s recently learned abt, especially putting together all the past knowledge she’s given him abt the river and what to do in a pact and Where Exactly She Got That Info From. he’s grateful she’s not in any of that anymore, though, whatever the mahne is exactly. alba’s impulsivity worries pen n he wants to make sure alba doesnt accidentally Put Himself In A Situation accidentally w that someday.

agni worries for theodosia, just because she seems to know a lot about the fucked up illness time thats going on and it seems to rlly effect her and she knows it cld be coming from prior past experience? she also worries for cyrus because of the whole you know. his family’s shop and home being burned to the ground Situation, even though theyve since recovered it couldnt have been good for him. worries for kai, also, because he is Small Baby Boy. but worries as in like. does so in her agni way and it may not come across as such?

40. do they enjoy poetry?

pen loves poetry he heard a lot of epics at home!! the stories were Less fun when it was about like, war and bloodshed and stuff, but he loved them when they were all pretty n flowery or like romantic 🥺

agni likes hearing poetry recited, especially when it has a specific repetitive syllable pattern she can get lost in!

52. from whom do they seek validation?

pen simply be like [wants validation from nobility noises]. its his Complexes. thats why being @ ravenloft rn is so... bad for him lol bc hes getting like all the positive attention from important people hes wanted for his entire life, oops. hes literally living out a dream being asked to dance with someone so important!! he also seeks validation a lot from like powerpful women bc of growing up with his mom and how much he looked up to her and cared about her, which manifests itself a lot w wanting attention from ori and jenny (and previously w lady wachter lol) and also the lady of delights.

growing up agni sought validation from her mothers n instructors, now (while she still wants momsvalidation) she looks for validation mostly from herself, which is kind of bad bc she never feels fully satiated w her work n accomplishments!

69. how would they describe their party members?

for pen: ori feels like an older sister to him, hes too scared to express as much, but yeah! she is warm (he means figuratively but also lol) and Kind and Competent and Smart and above all, Safe. he defintely feels like, the safest with her than anyone else he’s encountered in his life, both i mean in the physical protection sense but moreso the emotional sense! yeah. juni is.,, complicated. at first pen was uhhh scared of him bc of the whole Sorcerer Thing, but after all of them talked abt it at jenny’s, that feeling passed and he was more just concerned for him than anything. he is Powerful and Pretty and even though he’s been thru a lot of things pen himself cant even comprehend juni’s still Soft and Understanding and pen really admires that about him! alba is Also Complicated, for different reasons. pen thinks he is Reckless and Impulsive but also Smart in his own little scheme way, and pen really appreciates him as like a constant in his life? like yeah, he is scary and concerning sometimes but he’s always Predictably as such and while pen doesn’t see alba as all that loyal in general pen is kind of blind to that stuff when it comes to ppl in relation to him, so he’s just glad he’s met someone that wants to stick with him.

for agni: cyrus is so nice to her!! he feels like a capital f Friend in her head and so far like. she’s only had one of those before so thats really cool!! he helps her out a lot and she tries to do what she can to be there for him too! it was nice of him to teach her abt Beach Swimming. theo is really cool and agni loves seeing her in her element doing Medicine Stuff she thinks she is really smart w that kind of thing and rlly respects her practice, agni’s also very interested in her magic!! she thinks dendy is small little lizard guy who sings silly songs. greatly appreciates him. she wld follow kai blindly into terrible plans because she wants to make sure this cool teen is alright , is thankful to know he can turn into a bear at will and she didnt do that on accident that one time! amadeus is confusing and hard to keep track of in her head, but at the end of the day she thinks he’s very caring and just looking out for people. adaeze is really fun to hang out with and she is both concerned and greatly impressed w her just straight up downing one of fer’s Fucked Up And Evil Potions no questions asked, bc thats something even Agni’s too scared to do. thinks her sword is very interesting in terms of the arcane, wants to see what happens w all that! elvira is super different from anyone agni’s been around but she thinks she’s an amazing artist and would love to see her home bc she talks about it so vividly!!
