Manhunt AU dream notes since it's in my brain now.

The hunters believe Dream doesn't know about the trackers, and that's why he hasn't broken their compasses. Dream is fully aware of the compasses, let them get a tracking spell on him, and actually goes out of his way to not break the compasses. Otherwise, how would his hunters find him again.

Dream belongs to a group of runners who generally have very little respect for the law, but aren't in any active rebellion. There's a mix of merc and assassins, and then people like Dream who just don't give a fuck. Surprisingly, Dream has broken very few laws in his life, but it's due to spending most of his days out in the wilderness.

Dream has quite a few friends in the runners, including Punz (merc, has worked together several times), Illumina who also enjoys causing problems, Foolish whose retired but who Dream still sees on his visits to the coast, and Technoblade who isn't a runner but is welcomed and respected by them. Puffy is also a friend of his, but she's a full on pirate.

Usually he tries to avoid his friends while the hunters are after him, but sometimes they have a run in.

Punz stumbles upon them mid-hunt and helps Dream out, something that gets him scolded by Dream once they're out of sight. Dream has to explain this is on purpose and he's having fun.

Illumina catches on to the game when he finds Dream tucked up in a really high and dangerous spot and makes his way up to join him. The two of them sit up there and chat for awhile while the hunters struggle to find their way up. Dream (out of earshot) gleefully introduces Illumina to his hunters, and Illumina's happy for him. Good to see Dream finally making more friends!

Foolish and Puffy only come up once each. Dream swings by a port to see Puffy before needing to run off before he's caught, and she casually throws the hunters off his trail before making her own escape. Dream meets up with Foolish accidentally when the other is out harvesting building materials, and the two of them chat for awhile before the hunters show up. Foolish refuses to let them fight Dream, forcing them to put down their weapons around him using the fact he's 23 ft tall to his advantage.

Technoblade is the uh, well he's the Problem. See, he's been friends with Dream for awhile, and he sees Sapnap getting Dream in a pin, and while he doesn't often get involved in things that aren't his business, he's not too fond of seeing a friend of his in danger. So if he takes out his crossbow and takes a shot, that's his choice. If it was aimed for Sapnap's neck, well, Sapnap shouldn't have been on his rival.

Dream barely manages to move Sapnap in time to save his life, he has to quickly wave Techno off before Techno just kills his hunters. He then has to ditch the hunters to met Techno and explain he's totally safe, and this is an Intentional Design Feature.

Techno's once again fucking baffled by Dream, but eventually decides if the green man wants to be a weirdo, then that's all on him. Clearly, Techno was shooting at Dream anyways. He wasn't worried for the man's safety at all!

Dream appreciates him anyways, and promises to introduce him to his hunters when they get the chance.

Spiderz

Gang of obsessed crazed spider lovers basically

The leaders are Lapraz and Lavaruz who started the gang itself, they take on a Ramírez type role and help make sure the tape goes smoothly for the director

Own the abandoned laboratory and do very illegal research

Stole spiders / tarantulas from various places

They do be climbing on the walls-

Yes one does act like a spider and makes spider/hissing noises and everyone loved them for it

That one is nicknamed “Arachie”

They stopped climbing on the ceiling after a member lost their grip and died

They named a spider after them, Bobby will forever live on in a Goliath birdeater

Religionz

Gang of extremist Christian / Catholics

Originally under the leadership of.. someone else, now led by Arazure

Some are dressed like nuns, priests or pastors

Others are just in fancy clothes

They use the church and parking lot

They talk in Bible verses or talk about [insert Bible story]

They’re not allowed to interact with other gangs cause every time they do - they try to convert them and… they tend to get violent sometimes

They act all high and mighty cause “they’re doing it for Jesus!” Or “it’s gods will!”

They like to do their “special” baptism when they find an outsider

It’s just a extreme barely survivable baptism, but you can survive it

Barely Bear R Uz (Us)

They straight up just wear bear suits

They use the old toys R us that they decorated with various bear themed items

No one knows why they wear bear suits

Members of the disbanded “monkeys” (a gang that was scrapped from Manhunt) joined the gang

They all make bear noises except for the ALPHA BEAR / Mama Bear who just talks about how their children left the Barely Bear R Uz

Another bear that talks is nicknamed baby bear and is the youngest (and smallest) out of the group

Killings? Uh you mean maulings

They dress as different types of bears ranging from grizzlies, pandas, black bears all the way to those combos of grizzlies AND polar bears (they’re real, look them up they’re called pizzly bears)

They use bear claws (pun intended) and will also straight up bite people-

The costumed panda bears do eat bamboo

The doctor is called to stop them from doing so most of the time

The doctor’s main office is located here for unknown reasons

There’s a bit of open ground, covered in grass, and then an edge of a larger forest. The hunters’ guild sent George, Bad and Sapnap to hunt down the most notorious traitor to the guild, but as a shiver of fear makes its way down his spine he isn’t entirely convinced that they are the hunters. Sometimes it feels more like they are prey. “Should I check it out?”

Or, Dream betrays his hunters guild and the guild sends three hunters to kill him for it. Too bad one of them likes the chase a bit too much.

A Favor for a Gift

Danny's new to the superhero scene, and he gets on rather well with Martian Manhunter.

He decides to give J'onn a gift, because he came across J'onn in a melancholy mood, and the Martian explained that he was homesick. Danny learned a lot about Mars and Martian culture, after telling him that he could vent to Danny if he wanted, and wants to do a little something to help J'onn out.

He goes to the Zone, searching for Martian ghosts to talk with. He finds Ghostwriter. Or rather, Ghostwriter finds him.

He proposes a deal.

He'll let Danny have two very old, very rare Martian books; but in exchange, Danny owes him. Big Time.

Danny....asks what the favor would be, cuz he's not about to agree to that without knowing what he's agreeing to.

Ghostwriter needs Danny to go enter into a Ghost Fighting Competition, the biggest in the Zone, because the prize is a book that not only does Ghostwriter not have, but the only copy of it's kind ever.

Danny agrees; he kicks ghost ass all the time, a fighting competition shouldn't be a problem. Pff. He'll be fine.

Okay he's a little nervous.

He pushes it down.

He gets one of the books early, as trade for even entering the competition in the first place, and rushes to give it to J'onn.

He's trying to psych himself up for the fight, but his intrusive thoughts keep making him remember the fights he's lost. He's just not good with stage fright! Fighting as a hero is one thing, but fighting in a competition is nervewracking!

J'onn, getting a surface read of Phantom's mind, is concerned.

Due to Phantom being dead, not all of his thoughts are...legible. J'onn only gets flashes here or there, maybe emotions.

J'onn just got a flash of a coliseum, with stands filled to the brim, and another flash of Phantom losing in a fight.

Phantom is nervous.

Phantom, who's powers are so strong he can fight on equal footing with Superman, is nervous.

It is not the normal anxiety he can feel from the young ghost, it is something else.

Phantom tells him that he knows where another book is, he just needs to win it.

J'onn has heard of how Vicious Infinite Realms Ghosts can be, and it is reasonable to assume that Phantom being nervous is a direct result of a fight he knows he can't win.

A fight he's going to try to win anyways. For the sake of a book.

Phantom is worth more than a simple book.

Phantom disappears before J'onn can request that he not do that, leaving the Martian standing there with a book older than he is, with the knowledge that one of his friends is about to face...something. Some sort of danger.

And all J'onn can do is wait.

Naturally, he refuses to do that and calls the JLD to track down Phantom.

Manhunt Dream gives me "would stab someone with knitting needles for funsies" vibes, but would he have said needles to stab? He is homeless.

He's not actually homeless!! He has a house!! It's a total utilitarian mess that he's never at except when he needs to grab something, but it is a house and it does exist! He does also have knitting needles- he stole them from Techno and uses them exclusively to make dumb hats for people.

Also his house gets a lot nicer once the hunters move in because they make him have an actually functional place.
