Dean is such a paradox for me because on the one hand, I have been actively triggered by him in the show, there are moments where, intentionally or not, the writers managed to create a portrayal of manipulation and abuse and control issues that it sets off actual alarms for me. And on the other hand, I would not have him any other way. There is something — not comforting, that’s too soft a word — about knowing where Dean’s actions stem from, having seen and learned all that we do about his childhood neglect and parentification and the trauma he goes through repeatedly in the show, and that he doesn’t come out clean. He comes out a goddamn mess who ends up hurting the people around him in reaction to his own pain!
There’s a reality there that’s. Almost nice, actually. Distressing to watch, but it is a fucking mess, it’s a good mess! He’s got zero healthy coping skills and a healthy relationship with say, his brother, is terrifying because it leaves him open to abandonment!
I’m not sure I’m wording this correctly. There is a way to be a good abuse victim. Take the pain, martyr yourself on it, and then, even if you have no support or idea how to, then you have to become a Good Person who never hurts anyone the way you have been learning to your entire life. Simply toss everything that shaped you out the door and emerge a saint with a tragic backstory. And Dean is not that. And that’s so fucking good. Everything that he has gone through continues to effect the way he treats the people around him, and he can’t fight the behaviors he might recognize as harmful because he also sees them as protecting him (or protecting Sam by keeping Sam with him.)
And sometimes, idk. It feels good to see a guy who didn’t heal the “right way.” Who mostly didn’t heal at all, just keeps the wound open because it’s easier that way.
#there’s a whole other bit to this about how like. it’s hard for fandom to hold the idea that someone can be both a victim and abusive#at the same time. that the ways someone has been hurt don’t always shape them into kindness and wide-eyed sympathy. occasionally it just#makes them hard to live with. and I think most obviously is the thing that a lot of what Dean does is an expression of love. of protection.#he’s very much his father’s son in that way. that’s why Sam. the guy he’s been Told to protect his whole life. is also the person he ends up#hurting the most. it’s tragedy. it’s realistic. it’s a good fucking mess.#and that’s why I don’t get interpretations of dean that are determined to shave off the ugly parts of his character. to me those are the#parts that make him a character worth revisiting. he’s so full of love. and he uses it to hurt people. he means to sometimes. a lot of the#time he doesn’t but hurts them anyway. he has been shaped by violence his whole life. and it’s just. I get why someone might take this#part of him away. to make him easier to love. because I get that he’s stressful to watch also like I get that. but he is.#he is compelling. in his anger and his controlling behavior and his strangling love. he is compelling in all the ways he has become this.#Dean’s degradation into these behaviors can be both a failure of a show that ran to long but also the believable trajectory of a man who#can’t heal. and I love him for that. I love him for emerging from pain as a angry sharp thing. I love that it brings the glimpses of him#being gentler and recognizing his actions as bad into stark relief. I love that this recognition often only lasts until he is hurt again and#then he backpedals into the safety of behaviors he knows will allow him to control a situation through force or manipulation.#it’s good fucking mess. you know? dean winchester everybody.#maybe I should have put all that in the main post. oh well. too late now.#spn#dean winchester#tw abuse

notes: oh boy you guys are gonna like this one. VERY MAJOR SCREAM SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT!!!!!!!!!! I cannot get any more specific than that.
part 2 out now!
When she moved to New York with her best friend, they both had planned on getting an average college education, having fun, and graduating.
That was it.
Why couldn’t it have been that simple?
The four of them were stranded in the abandoned lobby of the theatre when Sam had gotten a call from the Detective, claiming that he had done some digging into Kirby and that she was let go from the FBI a couple of months ago for being mentally unstable, and he believes she is the killer.
She quickly turned her attention towards Sam, “What?” She snapped, her arm still wrapped up from her paired attack alongside Mindy on the subway.
Putting a foot down, she crossed her arms, “There’s no way we can stay here.” Attempted to try the entrance in which they came in, to find out it was locked, “Shit.” She turned around quickly to face the, “It’s locked.”
The group frantically looked for a way out of the theatre, as they weren’t going to be trapped with the possible killers. Tara had noticed some sort of fire escape, but that wasn’t until Ghostface appeared and attacked the group, which they fought back.
Chad decided it was a good time to be a hero, as he fought against Ghostface so that the girls could run. This proved to be a bad decision for him, as a second Ghostface came up and started stabbing alongside the other before ushering the trio back into the theatre.
As the five of them make their way back into the theatre, Kirby suddenly reappears out of nowhere and claims that she was knocked out by two Ghostfaces, but the trio can’t trust her after the Detective’s claims, who arrives subsequently after Kirby.
After what seemed to be a battle for trust, the Detective shoots Kirby, revealing himself as the third killer.
(y/n) screams as she was the closest, her heart racing in anticipation, afraid of what was going to happen next when the other two Ghostfaces de-mask themselves. Subsequently, after the Detective reveals himself to be the third killer, the Ghostface wearing Nancy Loomis’ mask revealed himself.
It was Ethan, (y/n)’s best friend. The friend she had planned on getting a college education and graduating with. The friend she had known for years, the friend who was responsible for their firsts.
Somebody she had trusted.
It was then revealed that Quinn was the final Ghostface, much to everyone’s shock, as they had seen and heard of the brutal murder Quinn had endowed.
The trio was cornered at each end by the three killers, with Sam slowly connecting the pieces that all three of the killers were related to none other than Richie Kirsch, one of the killers of the Woodboro Massacre in 2022.
As the trio was attacked and coerced back to the center of the theatre by the killers, the Detective sighed, “It wasn’t until I saw that photograph of what you had actually done to him, that I knew.”
“That I knew you had to fucking die- that you had to be punished, along with anyone else who stands in our way.”
Pushed and insulted by Quinn, Sam, and Tara were forced to stand in front of the Detective, with Ethan taking hold of (y/n), and holding a knife to her throat.
As the Detective went on about how he indulged in his son’s love for the Stab movies, and how they were a bit dark for him, he explained that there was no deeper bond than of a father and his firstborn.
“Despite the loss of Richie, I couldn’t have been happier after learning of a new addition to our family.”
The look on both the sisters’ faces was beyond puzzled as they watched the detective make grandiose gestures as he waved the gun in (y/n)’s direction.
“I knew it was a bit young for those two to get hitched, but,” the Detective paused, taking a breath for a brief smile, “She made it a lot easier to get us in here, and I’ve never been more proud of a future daughter in law, right (y/n)?”
The Carpenter sisters had another round of fear and shock as they turned their heads to one of the closest friends the gang had had, with even Mindy trusting them.
(y/n) was breaking away from a kiss with Ethan as Tara and Sam watched them in awe, the girl breaking into a fit of giggles and a content sigh.
“You know, Sam,” She said, turning towards the illegitimate daughter of the original Ghostface with her boyfriend slash fiance’s knife in hand, “You should really save the date.” She took a swing at the eldest Carpenter sister and laughed.
“Because it does fucking run in the family.”

So here’s a unique twist of a common prompt. Danny is the son of Bruce Wayne, whoever his mother is is up to you. However, Danny wants nothing to do with Bruce or his family for whatever reason, whether it’s because Damian treated him badly as a child or maybe he just doesn’t like how Bruce operates. Either way, they meet and the meeting ends badly. What do you think?
There are actually a lot of reasons why Danny might not want to stay with Bruce or stay away from Bruce. There is, of course, the usual "Danny has billionaire trauma" route that works for some arguments (although not all (but I'll leave that ramble for another time)). You could always go with Danny and Damian didn't get along (if we're doing a Demon Siblings AU). But I think the route that goes best is just that... Danny has a lot of Trauma™ and he's not ready to join another family.
Unfortunately those kinds of AUs would probably be the sadder ones because that can mean that he has problems and/or is cut off from Jazz too. Because as much as I love Jazz, she was never the bastion of perfection and older sisterhood that we sometimes like to paint her as. She tried, just like her parents did, and sometimes she failed. ㄟ( ▔, ▔ )ㄏ
In those AUs Danny is probably trying to live on his own. Maybe he's emancipated, maybe he's turned 18 already (I do have a fic idea where Danny moves out of the house after turning 18 despite not graduating yet, which is a thing you can do. Plenty of kids' birthdays pass before June graduation in the U.S., after all.) He's just started to stand on his own two feet and probably move past the neglect, both physical and emotional, that came with living with the Fentons.
Enter Bruce. Bruce, who has abandonment issues and is one paranoid motherclucker (and yes, that was intentional), who has just found out he has an unknown son from either a past relationship or one-night stand. Of course he's going to want to know more about Danny and catch up on all the time he lost with Danny. And the thing about Bruce is that sometimes he acts like a bad father purely because he doesn't know how to communicate his feelings and does all these things that come off as insensitive and/or overbearing.
Sometimes Danny might be able to make it work. But depending on the downturn his life might have taken... sometimes he can't. And for a Danny that might have just gotten that hard-earned independence... it likely won't be pretty.
---
Danny doesn't know what to make of Bruce Wayne. The man seems nice... enough. He's a bit too excitable, tries a little too hard. It's clear as day that he's trying, much more than Danny's adoptive parents could ever bother to sometimes, but it's... Danny would appreciate it more if Bruce just gave up.
He's happy to see that Bruce didn't willingly give Danny up. No word yet on Danny's bio mom, but at least he's got that going for him. He could do without Bruce's meaningful attempts to introduce him to the rest of the family or find out more about him.
Danny absentmindedly tugs at his collar. He really wishes he'd just turned Sam down when he had the chance. Tucker had balked when she extended the invitation out to him. Usually Danny would be her first choice, since he had some semblance of High Society Table Manners™ which usually Sam wouldn't give a shit about, but well, Tucker had gone once, got embarrassed to hell and back, and pretty much sworn off against it ever since.
He'd only moved out from Fenton Works three weeks ago. Danny could understand why she didn't want to ask him while he got settled in.
But well, she was his friend. And with the risk of her parents trying to openly marry her off to some rich guy (as opposed to subtly trying to marry her off, like they were doing now), Danny had taken one for the team and agreed.
If he knew this was going to happen, he would have just stayed home and figured out how to cook scrambled fucking eggs.
"I'm not very comfortable with this conversation right now, Mr. Wayne," Danny said plainly to the man. They were off in a side room at this point, tucked away from the rest of the crowd that would usually gawk at them otherwise. Already he'd turned heads when people recognized him as familiar.
To be honest though, even if they hadn't gone to a more secluded room, Danny still would have told it to the man straight.
"Oh, is it because your friend isn't here? I told you you're more than welcome to-" Bruce started again but Danny cut him off with a sigh.
"That's not the problem here, Mr. Wayne," Danny deadpanned. "I don't know why you're expecting me to be on board so quickly but I- I just turned eighteen. I have an apartment, I have a job. I know I'm still a kid in your eyes but I haven't been your kid in- ever. No matter what any paternity test ends up saying, which I still haven't agreed to by the way-"
"You're not even willing to try?" Bruce asked in return, like he'd been struck across the face.
It seemed genuine enough, like he was sincerely hurt by Danny's standoffish attitude. And Danny would feel guilty if he weren't so tired right now. He'd been tired for the past four years and he didn't need this on top of it all as some twisted cherry on top of the shitty whipped cream that was his life.
"No, I'm not," Danny told the man, straightforward. People had said no to Bruce before, right? Surely, someone had.
He began to doubt when Bruce just stared at him, dumbfounded. Danny didn't let the silence linger because he didn't linger, just moved on and left the side room. He could feel Bruce's eyes on him as he went, and then some of the other Waynes' eyes on him when he came into view. He ignored all of them and tried to find Sam.
Maybe her parents would even be willing to let him go back to the hotel room, after the huge 'scene' he'd just caused.

Super Villain Summer Internships [Everlasting Trio, DpxDc]
Everlasting Trio don’t know what they’re going to do for college, so they decide to just bite the bullet and do a few internships. Although they all forget to tell each other that they’re each interning with villains.
Tumblr media
Danny is with Mister Freeze, going under the name Blizzard
Danny is basically the one doing a bunch of intern work while also not, at first he was just kinda there cause he liked being cold
But then he and Freeze begin to bond over feeling responsible for things that aren’t really their fault, Danny promises to help Freeze revive Nora
They have a father-son relationship, in how they’re actually pretty similar in personality & powers
Sam is with Poison Ivy, under the name Blood Blossom
Sam is the only one to have a legal internship because Ivy actually wrote her down as her legal lab assistant
She and Pam are very Big Sis-Little Sis energy, Sam is the annoying younger sibling who wants to do everything their big sister does
Pam finds this devotion to their ideals adorable, and supports Sam in their joint endeavors
Tucker is with Bane, going as Ruin
Tucker acting as Bane’s tech guy, he’s been working on a new type of venom for Bane he doesn’t get into many fights but if he needs to he doesn’t back down
They have an Uncle-nephew relationship going on but also Tucker gets a bit obsessive about making the best venom that they have Frankenstein & Frankenstein’s Monster going on too
It’s mainly just Tucker getting to cackle evilly while Bane just say “Alright chiquito, have you eaten breakfast yet? You get angry when hungry.”
The batfam is not prepared to deal with two mini rouges and a secret mini rouge who they haven’t met yet but are still worried about
A couple weeks into their internship the Gotham Rogues have their bi-monthly meeting where The Everlasting Trio is introduced to everyone
Ivy, Freeze, & Bane were also surprised to see that their interns actually knew each other/are dating
The Everlasting Trio are the entire reason why the Gotham Rogues are even talking to each other at the moment
Now the bats are even more confused & concerned because the rogues are usually at each other’s throats
It’s the only thing keeping them from taking over tbh
When the batfam find out that the three interns they’ve had to deal with for like most of June, all know each other and are actively in a polycule, they feel like everything makes so much more sense
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The trio do have an ulterior motive to this whole thing, at first it’s just indulging in their less than stellar morals
Until it’s not
They become more enthralled in their ambitions, Sam begins to care less and less about the world outside of plants, she cares less about the civilian casualties, she begins to use ecto-science on plants
Pam & Harley are very concerned because they’re both on their path to redemption and Sam is going in the other direction
Danny becomes just as obsessive as Mister Freeze with trying to bring back Nora, he’s bringing in ecto-science in an attempt to bring her back through re-bonding her soul back to her body
Freeze isn’t against this exactly, but he’s unsure if it’ll bring the real Nora back, he’s still gonna go with it
Tucker has fully fallen into the mad scientist idea, he wants to make Bane the best version of himself the best human possible, his new version of venom is directed by ecto-science and such
Bane of course wants to be stronger but he knows at some point Tucker is gonna go to far, so he’s willing to hold the kid back if need be, but he isn’t going to actually do it he wants Tucker to go bad
By the time the Trio reaches the point of no return their bosses realizes this is not going to go their way anymore
Everlasting Trio: You’re just afraid to take it, One. Step. Further.
Tumblr media
The fight to take back Gotham from the Everlasting Trio is a long one
Sam has complete control over Robinson Park [biggest park in Gotham] along with its botanical gardens and such
The surrounding neighborhoods are overrun with plants, she has people asleep and under her control for the most part
Tucker has most of the upper districts running wild on the venom he’s made, people are now more powerful than Superman himself and have lost their minds in their blind rage, they’re all mainly under his control
Danny has the east bays and the graveyards near by, everything is frozen over, the bodies in the harbor and in the ground have been reanimated into ice soldiers and are under his control most of the time
Ivy, Harley, Freeze, & Bane have to call in the bats for help with the Trio and their plans
They split up to go for their kid, with a few bats behind them to back them up
Ivy & Harley pull on Sam’s care for the rest of the world
Bane brings Tucker down from the high, making him think this through
Freeze gets Danny to realize that nobody he brought back is who they first were
By the end of it the trio is subdued after a big fight and some impassioned speeches
They’re admitted into Arkham Asylum, they promise their mentors that they’ll do better, that they’ll get better & make them proud of them
Tumblr media
Admittedly I completely forgot to mention the trio’s family back in Amity
Let’s just say they don’t all know the nature of their internship
Jack & Maddie are aware that Danny is interning under an important doctor but they weren’t sure who he is
Angela & Maurice don’t know what’s going on with Tucker he hasn’t given them any stable information, he wanted to keep it that way with them thinking he’s still a good kid
Jeremy & Pamela know exactly what Sam was doing, she made sure of it, she wanted them to know they’re baby girl was running with villains now
Jazz is actually living in Gotham while this is going on, she going to college at GU for psychology, she’s interning at Arkham
She’s actually close with the bats, having met Jason, she’s one of the few psychs they trust at all
She knows that Sam is working with Ivy, she’s tried reaching out to her but Sam refuses to talk to her
She’s only ever seen Blizzard from afar, and was unable to connect him with Danny
She didn’t even know Ruin existed until the bats told her, and even then she didn’t know he was Tucker
When they’re taken down Jazz finds out who they are and she’s crushed, she feels she not only failed Sam, but also Danny & Tucker as well
Since the trio are all 18+ by the time they’re arrested nobody from Amity is sent anything to tell them they’ve been arrested
For about a week Jazz is actually their therapist at Arkham before she’s re-assigned when it’s realized she knows them personally
Jazz ends up telling the Foleys and the Fentons what happened
Then Amity gets the broadcast of their very own Samantha Manson being arrested in Gotham, New Jersey for eco-terrorism
Everything else just blows up in their faces after that, The three families don’t even dare show face around for awhile
They go to Gotham to actually visit their kids in Arkham
The Foleys are so disappointed in their son for what he’s done, Tucker can’t even look them in the eyes as the yell at him about everything
For the Mansons it sprouts into a huge shouting match with Sam almost jumping to table to try and physically fight her parents
All the Fentons do is stare at each other, they try to ask Danny why but he’s not cooperating with his biting remarks and not wanting to even see them for almost a week
Regarding their sentence and institutionalization the trio only has about five years or until they show sufficient mental stability for two years straight
Tumblr media
This is another one that's been sitting around for awhile. And I also remembered the the banner i made for Batfam & Everlasting trio content

Just wanted to split this off from this post about why Mary Winchester is excellent because it's getting so long, but I wanted to respond to these tags from @kayliemalinza :
#sometimes i feel people hate john for reasons that while valid in our universe less valid in the spn universe#but mary gets it way worse#<-- prev tags yessss#also doing the math wasn't she like 28 when she died#i'm glad they didn't recast and of course samantha smith looks her own age#but mary is in fact YOUNGER THAN SAM AND DEAN AT THIS POINT#they are not children#and the tags copied above i think explains so sos ooo much#bc so many fans glommed onto dean because of similar family issues#and that means they are struggling as much as dean is in s12#and just can't disconnect that quite yet#but god#GOD how she struggles with that emotional intimacy#she was raised as a hunter you don't think she's chockablock full of maladaptive coping mechanisms too?
Because I whole-heartedly agree with this. John Winchester was not a good father in some major, major ways, and Sam and Dean had a childhood straight out of a...well, a horror/fantasy genre show...but I think people forget that Sam and Dean also do truly love John and truly are more or less at peace with their memory of him later in the series, and there has to be a reason for that, too. It's not that he's a mustache-twirling villain; it's complicated. He loved them, but he wasn't always able to do it right. They love him, but he hurt them and made the what they are, which is a double-edged sword.
It's really natural that we all identify with Dean, and get angry at people who hurt him, but I think it's important to realize that Dean processes his anger about Mary leaving pretty quickly, because it's not really anger and resentment, it's confusion, disappointment and hurt. And I think Dean is grown enough to own his own feelings, and able to accept that she needs time and space, and he's not such a child that he isn't capable of separating his legitimate feelings from her legitimate needs. It takes him time, but he gets there, because, and this is another conversation, Dean is really very reflective and emotionally intelligent, actually.
I also do agree that a lot of fans, in identifying with Dean, map their own feelings about their parents onto Mary, and dislike her for reasons that have nothing to do with the story being told on Supernatural, which is essentially a very healing one. Since I'm a Gen-X old, and the mother of an adult son, I actually had a pretty different experience, and as much as I love Dean, in this storyline, I identified a lot with Mary.
On the one hand, she has to be so proud of her two big, beautiful, brave and heroic sons, but at the same time she does not know them! They don't need her, and they are trying to protect her from the things she feels they should have been protected from, and at the same time, as adult men who are still, in some way, motherless boys, they are hungry (especially Dean) for her to be something that she never had a chance to grow into. I loved it that her own exigencies were too strong to LET her stay. I loved that she could not accept the role of mother that had been stolen from her, and could not sit still to let it just kind of settle on her shoulders.
It made me think that (aw yeah!) there was a difference between John's sainted white nightgown conception of his dead wife (his motivation to be what he was), and Dean's memory of her as the cutter off of crusts from his sandwiches, or the mother that he comforted when she was sad, and he was just a little man. I'm so glad that Mary turned out to be so much more than that. She is a woman with her own competencies, her own damage and baggage, and her own ideas about how to make things right, who doesn't agree with her sons all the time, who makes mistakes, who fucks the wrong guy, still loves her problematic husband, and can't actually cook, thank you very much. I love that her own disorientation and her own will are so strong that she really can't allow who she actually is to be subsumed into the communal role of 'mother'.
I think that socially, we don't really think about what we ask of mothers, or how hard we judge them. We underestimate what they give up of themselves to satisfy that role. My son was born when I was really young, and fellas, IT WAS HARD under more or less perfectly normal circumstances, to make the transition from being just me to being a mother. My magnificent son is amazeballs, and is a human being that I am so fucking proud to have made out of my very own actual body and raised to be the excellent human he is, and we are really close, but I was not always prefect, and even now when he is a grown adult, I still chafe against the perception of me as 'his mother' and not just ME all the time. One of the very greatest things about my son is his incredible ability to let me live, and make space for the fact that I am also a person, and not just his mother, and I am so, so grateful to him for that, so....
Yeah. As much as I didn't want to see Dean hurt, I LOVED Mary, and love that they wrote her as her a full human being and not a tropally perfect mother. I loved seeing her as a flawed parent that deserved her adult children's understanding and mature love, who deserved her own space and her own processes. What's more, I loved seeing Dean process his feelings about her, and seeing him become a son who was capable of loving a real human woman who happened to be his mother. So... yes. I love her.
Mary Winchester forever. A+.

SOME REDACTED HCS
I’ve been thinking but this time it’s not about stuff that makes me mad
GUY:
He can shake ass, does so very frequently especially while he’s cooking or as a distraction when Honey is
VINCENT:
Man knows how to crochet and knit, can and will make sweaters and stuff for Lovely, he probably learned as a newborn when he was being heavily watched by William, father/son bonding or smth
GAVIN:
Despite not needing to eat food to sustain himself, he has a shocking sweet tooth courtesy of Caelum
ASHER:
Absolute biggest softie, will buy Baabe cute lil trinkets if he sees something that reminds him of them, probably would be the leading factor in why they have a plushie mountain
MILO:
Probably plays overwatch, probably mains mei, would probably carry you, would definitely be the person that accidentally says smth like “wtf are the healers doing?” Forgetting that you’re playing support and apologizes profusely. Overwatch brings out the absolute worst in this man please unbind his push to talk for everyones sanity
DAVID:
Has a lot of scars like you’d expect of a shifter, but some of the gnarliest ones have the dumbest causes. Oh those huge scars on his leg, forearm and chin? He was probably shifted and fighting a wild animal. No, he tried to learn how to skateboard as a teenager and Milo convinced him the best way to learn was to go down a massive hill. He ended up in the ER getting stitches.
SAM:
He’s a city boy 100%, also has absolutely 0 rhythm and couldn’t dance to save his life. Like sure he could learn the steps but he’d be overthinking and trying to remember them so hard that it’d just come out super robotic and weird
HUXLEY:
Hopeless romantic through and through, definitely learns Phytokinesis to grow Damien his favorite flowers and regularly makes lil heart shaped rocks to give him (Damien has a whole shoebox of them bc he’s never gotten rid of a single one but would never admit it)(also Hux’s favorite flowers to grow are Dahlia Summer Flame and Flame Lilies for obvious reasons)
DAMIEN:
This man makes lil pictures with fire when he’s around the DAMN crew, lil hearts for Hux, dicks for Gavin etc. Also very jokingly mean with his friends and definitely calls people stinky out of nowhere. Also has called Lasko a fartbender just to watch him get (lovingly/p) annoyed. This man is so much more chaotic than he lets on

Chapter 2 - More To You Than Meets The Eye
Notes: I'm back!!! I finally found my balls to finish this fkcing chap and I'm happy for that. There's not much going on in this chap, just a little bit of POV from Steve and Bucky, nothing too big or brass. It's just BG information and more plot to the fic! I was a bit challenged on his I wrote the characters to fit into who they're supposed to be in this story but it turned out pretty alright. This is unedited and unbeta'd but I still hope you guys enjoy!!
SUMMARY: Steve and Bucky come in with guns blazing, Sam, Natasha and the Maximoff twins at their backs for support. Finding their targets dead and one of them cooked isn't what they expect, you in the middle of the wreckage as the main perpetrator is the last thing they had on the list to find.
Main Masterlist > { Prev _ Next }
Tags/WARNINGS > talks of cannibalism, violence and weaponry, insert is a warning herself; this chapter is pretty tame honestly
°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°
Rome was gorgeous, the city a twinkling light from where they were perched up. The wind was cold but it was near unnoticeable with the anticipation that brewed in them.
"There's been a change of plan," Wanda's soft voice came over from the radio, making Steve pause from his ministration. He shared a glance with Bucky who sat by the ledge of the rooftop they were occupying, the black and sharply shaped shield he'd been inspecting on his forearm retracting with a quiet click.
"Targets have moved. They're not headed for their mansion," Natasha's voice followed next.
"What?"
"Baron sent his men away. He and his wife are taking a different route," Wanda chimes in again. Steve frowned.
"Where are they headed?"
"The Dragon has moved as well. He's taking the same route as the Strucker's," Sam crackles through the radio.
"Tail them," Steve orders as he and Bucky vacates their hiding spot. They scale the building down easily, landing light and quiet on their feet. They headed for the pair of motorcycles parked on the side of a different building.
"Send us the locations once they've stopped moving," Steve says as his ride roared to life. Bucky swiftly followed him as he drove away.
They'd gotten the hit order a few days ago. From Fury, to be exact.
They'd thought that the Dragon's would finally be taken out of the equation after the son of their former leader took the seat, leading the empire down the drain with his inability to lead.
It'd been a funny joke come to life; the only thing that could kill a Dragon was itself and kill itself was what your brother did to your family's crime empire.
Considering that your father's empire ran the biggest fighting rings as well high class drug deals, it was safe to say it was a good thing that the empire is on its way of destroying itself.
That is, until a week ago, Steve and his team were called in to be notified that your brother took a deal with the Strucker Familia, another crime syndicate suspected of running illegal experiments and human trafficking rings.
Everybody new what that deal for. Turns out, your brother did have a brain he could use. A union between your two families would be more than enough to save his ass. A massive trafficking ring who deals with illegal drugs and concoctions unionizing with a syndicate now revealed to be really doing illegal experiments is bound to be a bigger problem.
Which is why Fury sent out the hit. Your brother and the Strucker family had to be gone. Your name had been mentioned but considering that the reputation your brother spread was about you being quiet and obedient, you were barely paid any attention, just a poor little victim dragged into this mess because of your brother.
Your files details about a 25 year old woman who's still grieving the loss of her parents, leaving immediately the very moment they died to get away from your brother and his criminal status. Your involvement with your father and brothers crime dealings were minimal; instead, you spent your time with your mother in your mansion or going out shopping.
You were smart and talented with an eye for fashion. You took music lessons as a child, piano and guitar to be exact. You did gymnastics for physical sports, followed by martial arts for self defense. There was nothing exceptional or eye catching detail from you for them to note.
You were just the daughter after all.
Just another pawn in this game, married off by your brother to secure the union.
After getting their debrief, Steve had set out almost immediately, spreading his team to cover all targets. That included the Strucker family as well as your brother.
Natasha tagged the Strucker couple while Sam surveyed your brother with Steve and Bucky on stand by.
Wanda and Pietro came recently, the two of them nearly fucking up the plan the team had in motion when they busted Sam and Bucky as they scoped out the wedding venue.
Steve was prepared to fight their way out of there, surrounded by hostiles and high class criminals but Natasha managed to talk the twins down.
The older male one was reluctant but Wanda had agreed almost immediately, spilling everything about the wedding event and what will come after. It was when their suspicions were confirmed; the Strucker family did ran illegal experiments and they were tightly tied with HYDRA.
Steve, Bucky and Natasha were all well acquainted with the Russian/German mob. Considering that Bucky had unwillingly worked for them and Steve had unknowingly served for them, they've got bone to pick with the mob. Natasha's still vague, refusing to talk about the Red Room and how it was connected to HYDRA.
The twins made things significantly easier, with the information they spilled and what not. Except Steve was getting suspicious. Everything was getting too easy.
'There it is,' he thinks as he drove off, briefly sharing a glance with Bucky. 'there's the other shoe to drop.'
If this was an ambush and the twins had been working against them all along, Steve would unfortunately do what he has to do. Wanda and Pietro were young but the entire business had been too suspicious, the coincidence that the pair needed an out and Steve's team was exactly what they needed too good.
Despite Natasha and Sam's growing fondness of the two, Steve would still prioritise his team if it came down to it.
"They're headed for the bride and grooms penthouse, I repeat, all targets are headed for the bride and grooms penthouse," Pietro reports, voice a crackle on the comms.
"Copy," Steve grunted, everyone echoing it.
As he and Bucky made a turn, he hoped that this wasn't an ambush. Wanda and Pietro seemed to be good kids, he'd hate to put them down.
--
A sight for sore eyes is what you were, Bucky thinks as they raided the place several minutes after the gunshots with you standing in the middle of the wreckage, blood splattered and heaving.
All of them had been on stand by, waiting for signal as Sam surveyed the area. He had reported that the tinted windows made it difficult and Bucky had found it suspicious how the hallways leading to your penthouse were free and open, no guards in sight.
All of them had heard the screaming but none of them moved yet, chalking it up to you throwing a tantrum and possibly begging your brother to let you go. It was expected, you were a unwilling participant after all.
Wanda had gotten a memo alongside the rest of Strucker's men to stay put, that the couple will be having a dinner with you, your brother and their son. The team hadn't bothered to bug your place, none of them keen to hear you struggle against your new husband.
They doubted that they'd get any valueble information considering they knew exactly what was going to happen in your honeymoon. The hit will happen during the flight back to Sokovia anyways and god Bucky regretted thinking of that.
He wished that they just let Natasha break into the penthouse and bug it so that they knew exactly what the fuck happened before the gun shots.
"Hot damn," Sam curses, staring at Kane L/N's beaten corpse. The bullet hole is barely noticeable in his forehead, face a pulp of flesh and blood.
You glared at them from the side, sitting on one of the plush dining chairs. You were very reluctant in putting your gun down, looking like a cornered animal when the team broke in.
Bucky could understand, eyeing your tense form. Your grip in your gun hasn't loosened and you were eyeballing them back with barely hidden hostility and wariness.
The hysteria is still written in your face, your hair nearly undone from its tie, blood drying and caking up on your skin. Bucky's gaze drifted down to your dress, red and snug around you, stopping mid thigh's with slits on both sides that didn't leave much to imagination.
Lower and he found your feet clad in stiletto heels. Bucky's eyebrows raised when he realised you probably fought your brother in them.
"What happened?" Natasha asked, tone softened by the care she always carried for her fellow women. Wanda stood next to her, the two them standing in front of you.
Bucky stared unabashedly from where he's leaning on the dinner table despite the fact that he should be helping Steve, Sam and Pietro in investigating the mess you made.
"I had a divorce," You shrugged indifferently, reclining on your seat and crossing your legs.
"We can see that," Natasha sighed. "But why? This union would have saved you, your brother and your family's empire. Why kill your husband and his family? Why kill your brother?"
"Are you dumb?" You scoffed, eyes blazing. The uncleaned blood on you made you more menacing but Bucky could practically see the unamused look on Natasha's face.
"I got married against my consent and I don't give a shit about my brother and his business," You spat. "This was all a conspiracy against me; that fucker always had a boner for putting me in my place and he thought that this was it. Me getting married to further his ass up into the fucking hierarchy."
"I'm assuming that he never disclosed any important information to you regarding the unionization of your family's?" Natasha asked drily.
At that, your eyes narrowed as if you were contemplating something. Bucky shifted from where he was, sending Steve a sharp look. The man let out a soft shake of his head, taking a seat by the dinner table having been done checking the Strucker couples corpse. Sam and Pietro continued to poke at Jonas' head.
"Well, he always gloated about the fact that the union would make the drug business bigger," You spill casually after a few minutes of silence.
"The Strucker family's main source is human trafficking and while we also dealt with big concoctions, it's not our main forth," Wanda murmured.
"Yes, everybody knows that, but while it's not your best, you have the fund and supplies for it," You drawled out. "Our family makes the best drugs but considering our state right now, we have no resources. That's where the Strucker family comes in. What they make has got nothing against what we continue to sell."
You paused, eyes briefly flickering to your brother's corpse. A beat and you scoff, leaning forward like you were sharing a secret.
"Also, I've heard that they're planning to make a new drug. One that'd be a massive hit if they finally start distributing it," You share coyly, the hand holding your gun resting on your crossed knee while you supported your weight with your other.
You looked almost lazy with the way you were lounging on the chair, as if you weren't surrounded by one of the most dangerous crew in the world. Bucky didn't know if you were stupid or brave.
"What drugs?" Steve asked, standing up and walking towards you. Wanda and Natasha shifted to give him space.
You looked up to him with an eyebrow raised, a bland look on your face. Then deliberately, you shrugged.
"I don't know."
"Bullshit," Bucky scoffed. Your eyes are still blank when it met his and something like annoyance flickers inside Bucky.
"I'm telling you, I don't know. What I told you, that's the farthest of information I've got," You lie obviously as you lent back at the chair.
"Ms Y/N, please don't make this difficult. We just need the information and nothing more from you," Wanda simpered at you. A sneer is all she receives.
"You think I'm lying? All I heard is that they'll be developing a new drug for the market, nothing more nothing less," You insisted at them, an agitated look on your face. "Why would I know more about their business? I'm just the sister and wife, people like me aren't meant to be involved with that type of shit."
"Well you've clearly proved that you're more than just the sister and wife," Sam gestured around the room.
You glared at him, the frustrated look on your face surprisingly genuine.
"This was just a revenge plot. I cooked my husband and revealed that to his parents and my brother once they've all taken a bite then I used the shock and horror to shoot them dead," You explained, scowling. "All I wanted was for them to be dead. I don't fucking know their business and motivations!"
Bucky couldn't hide the grimace that took over his face. Cooking your own husband? He's seen and done some stuff but that, quoting Sam, is just some nasty shit. He didn't know what the kind of fucked up revenge fantasy you've had running in your head but the treatment from your brother and husband must've been really bad if you cooked Jonas on the 2nd night of the honeymoon then killed your brother next.
Or, you could've gotten all the psychotic genes from your father since the man was known for cutting people into pieces and stringing them around for the police to discover.
Either way, you were fucked in the head.
And probably telling the truth.
Bucky glanced at Steve when the man huffs, hands coming to hold his waist and when he turned around to give his team a look. He rolled his eyes at the blonde for giving you his back so open even if Natasha and Wanda bracketed him.
When Steve moves, Bucky catches your gaze and he thinks, begrudgingly, that you were a great liar. There's no hint on your face that suggested that you know more than you let on, that what you'd said early was all you had. Except Bucky wasn't one of the best to be fooled by your frustrated-bordering-to-pathetic pleading.
You knew something and they'll get it out of you. Eventually.
"Did you really have to cook him?" Pietro asks.
Carefully, you let your gaze fall to the solved head. You looked like a porcelain doll with you make up, face wiped of any emotion. Bucky didn't think that he'd find anyone else with such dead eye stare.
Then a manic grin crept to your face and a shiver run down everyone's spine, goosebumps breaking across their skin as they get reminded that while you were seated and surrounded, you were holding a loaded gun and they've got no ID on you or your skills.
"Well," You start to giggle. "My brother did tell me to serve my husband. I just followed his orders."
At your indifferent shrug, everyone's grimaced.
"That's fucked up, seriously. Very fucked up," Sam mouthed to Steve, making Bucky snort. "Did you eat him too? I mean, you sat with them at the dinning table so, did you eat him too?"
"Mhm," You hummed, sensually licking your lips as you gave him a wink. Sam, including Wanda and Pietro, went a bit green on the gills.
Steve and Bucky couldn't really look at you for long too.
"HA! Your faces!" You laughed out loud before sobbering up, gaze turning sharp and dangerous. "Come on. People might like to say that revenge is served best when cold but I beg to differ. Revenge is definitely served best when hot."
Your words slowed to a drawl as you stared at them from under your lashes, head tilted as you lent again back at the chair. You looked more relaxed than ever, despite the obvious discomfort of the bruises and drying blood.
Everyone is stunned silent, not really knowing how to react to what you just said. Bucky had to give it to you; you knew what you wanted and how to carry it out regardless of how batshit it was.
Steve opens his mouth to say something but that's when the world chooses to light itself up in a rain of bullets.
"Y/N!" A male voice shouted and for a moment, Bucky thought you had called reinforcement to get you out of there but immediately removed that from his head when he found you on the ground, shoulder bleeding and grazed by bullet.
Your grip on your gun didn't waver however as you held it up against the man who barged into the penthouse. Your eyes shone with rage, grin bloodier and wider than before.
"Dylan! So glad you could join us! Unfortunately for you, Kane is dead and the party is long over. However, if you want to dance with these other party crashers, be my fucking guest," You chirped, pulling the trigger of your gun and nailing the man in the chest.
He's not alone, Bucky notes as more men poured inside the penthouse at Dylan's gargling shout. Everyone took cover, exchanging bullets and shouts. Bucky's pretty familiar with the man considering that he was Kane's right hand. He's not bad as an executive and that is very much working against Bucky and the team currently.
You sent Steve a wink when he yells for Pietro to grab you, the silver head immediately flipped on his back when he managed to grab you by the arm. You at least had the decency to drag him away from the hail of bullets but immediately threw a fucking chair at them for no fucking reason other than to add to the mess.
In the midst of the chaos, no one could catch you as you slipped away, leaving Bucky and their team to clean up after your mess.

y’know, whatever the true parentage of aegon vi aka young griff, in a way he is more like rhaegar than jon snow is. by which i mean their attempts to force themselves into archetypal roles, rhaegar as the prophesied hero against supernatural dark forces and yg as the hidden-prince-in-exile come to save the country and restore peace and harmony by taking the throne.
rhaegar’s very existence is owed to a prophecy, when the ghost of high heart said the ptwp would come of aerys/rhaella’s line they were forced to get married by their father. his destiny was decided and agreed before he was born, as just a hypothetical male prince. bc ofc this promised prince must be a son born with a cock, right? no one ever looked for or expected a princess for this. and when he was born during the mysterious tragedy at summerhall, what could be more of a sign that the prophecy was fulfilled? no need to keep waiting for any more kids, anyone further down the line, this baby had such a dramatic entrance he has got to be the specialest boy of all. rhaegar likely knew all of this from a very young age. grandpa jaehaerys ii believed enough to force his kids to marry, so he wouldn’t want this important planning to go to waste by taking it to his grave, now, would he? was rhaegar reading all the time bc his favorite genre was old prophecy scrolls or was he always doing homework to become the hero he knew he already was? does it really matter when either way he never really had much choice in his role in life? one day he finally goes to train with the master-at-arms only bc he realized from his reading that he “must” be a warrior. he became as great at that as he was at anything else, according to ser barry, but he never enjoyed knighthood.
to me that’s all a far cry from jon, who grew up idolizing daeron the young dragon and dreaming of glory and conquest. jon, who spent most of his waking hours training in the yard even when injured at the end of asos, just bc he didn’t know what else to do and it helped him blow off steam. jon, who had a nostalgic “hunger” in him when hearing the sound of swords in the yard as lc. the same guy who as of acok still couldn’t get why sam would consider old books and crumbling scolls to be treasure. jon, who has nothing but doubts once he does rise to power and herodom as lord commander and can’t conquer them. and most importantly, jon, the hero who chanced into his role as shield guarding the realms of men only bc ned won the fight at the toj after rhaegar died and took him to be raised in the north. if/when jon does return to life and take his place as a heroic head of the dragon, that role can only be his own choice, not one he was raised for his entire life, just as his membership in the night’s watch was ultimately his own choice based on his northern childhood. (jon’s conception may have also been prophecy-related, but beyond that, his path and rhaegar’s sharply diverged.)
know who was shaped for a royal destiny “since before he could walk”, though? that’s right, aegon in essos aka young griff. his destiny was already chosen for him by the schemes of illyrio/varys just as rhaegar’s was by grampy jae ii and other dragon prophecy nerds before him. he studied his scrolls and trained with the royal master-at-arms just as aegon studied in the routines of his entourages and was trained by knights of the golden company.
and, at some point, we know rhaegar realized he wasn’t the ptwp and decided it was his first son, aegon, instead. mostly bc a comet was seen the night of aegon’s conception. i remember seeing a post years ago saying rhaegar must have spotted the comet that night, run naked straight to elia, and declared they had to get babymaking asap bc the comet was a sign too significant to be ignored. a joke post, prob, but i feel like there’s prob a lot of truth to the idea of rhaegar desparetely forcing the signs to add up, concieving a child on that night after he’d already seen the comet rather than just happening to have sex with elia on the same night there just happened to be a comet sighting. i believe this bc why would it all just be lucky coincidence if aegon vi was not the ptwp? lbr now, whether he indeed got his head smashed in by the mountain or was switched out and sent to essos, rhaegar’s elder son was/is not the promised hero. (just like rhaegar himself could not be the pwtp, after all.) a previously-thought-dead-for-16-years newbie with shaky parentage credentials introduced this late in the game is not going to steal both jon’s and dany’s thunder like that, c’mon. so a comet appearing just for his conception feels about as likely as red rahloo actually killing 3 kings just for the sake of frickin’ stannis. it’s even possible that rhaegar later decided aegon might not be the ptwp either and put more stock in dragon head #3 bc of the whole ice and fire union aspect with lyanna. we just don’t have enough info about that part of the story to know for sure. but there’s no suggestion he was unhappy with elia beforehand or that either of them thought she could not bear more children until the maesters actually said so after aegon’s birth. and even if he was “right” about lyanna’s child being the most important one (ew), he was still counting on both aegon and rhaenys to be the other two heads of the dragon, and presumably planned to raise all 3 of them for their destiny together in kl as he had been. in which case his plans utterly failed, because that is just not at all what happened with any of those kids.
in that sense, death is what jon and his bio dad most have in common as they both walked fairly boldly and blindly into their doom. but the circumstances are still a bit different as jon was murdered in a mutiny rather than killed in battle, not to mention his likely resurrection as an actual hero of prophecy. despite being around 10 years older than either jon or aegon is presently, i’d say rhaegar was even more naively overconfident in his plans than jon was in his final moments. to go that quickly and without any known hesitation through each change of plans from simply being ptwp himself to becoming a warrior as well as a weirdo nerd to fathering 3 heads of the dragon to truly fulfill prophecy to organizing a political coup at harrenhal to honoring lyanna instead to eloping with her after aegon’s birth to make her wife #2 and mother of dragon head #3 to riding off to one definitve battle against cousin robert after hiding in his lovenest with lyanna for months, idk, that does not read to me as someone suffering the same questions and doubts jon did in the nw. rhaegar told jaime “when this battle’s done” not “if i return in victory” in their farewell. he had no back-up plans in case of his defeat, leaving elia with aerys and lyanna in the toj, no plans for how to protect either wife or any of his all-important prophesied progeny in the event of his loss, just as he had no immediate plans to deal with aerys yet. (compare that to idealistic young king robb stark, thought to be recklessly honorable and accused of thinking himself invincible in his youth, yet he still managed to make plans for his succession should he die childless in battle, and planned to put his wife and mother in strongholds held by trustworthy (sane) allies who could defend their positions for some time in his absence.) all that only makes sense to me if he always thought he’d still have time for all that later, never truly envisioning the possibility of house targ being overthrown so soon when all his hero kids were still babies.
after all, whether he was the ptwp himself or only meant to raise the 3 promised dragon heads as heroes, surely their destiny was already written years before and he couldn’t go out in such a mundane way, right? i’d say aegon/yg shows the same kind of overconfidence in going along with all the gc’s changes in planning, from whatever varys/illyrio originally wanted with viserys iii alive to finding dany and marrying her after the birth of her dragons to leaving for an invasion of westeros first to conquer the stormlands himself before wedding dany as equals. he never imagined she could refuse him until tyrion told him so, and imo is still not grasping that his female relation could prove more important than him in westeros with her 3 dragons. rhaegar may have known he was doomed since his tragic birth among so much death and later knew he wasn’t the pwtp, but he likely still expected a higher doom, one as dramatic and magical as his birth at summerhall. he couldn’t imagine his chest being caved in by lyanna’s dumbass ex, his boorish cousin robert, just as aegon/yg can’t know what doom could be in store for him in westeros either.

tbh a lot of the ways jack’s infantilization pops up is in discourse around him and dean and their relationship , especially after Mary’s death in game night. because everyone’s relentlessly clinging to the idea of jack as a pwecious widdle baby who can do no wrong, there’s this unanimous refusal to give him any accountability whatsoever for anything he does, particularly with killing mary and hurting dean so severely in the process. instead, everyone decides that dean is the bad guy for reacting to his childhood trauma unfolding again after he’d finally healed from it and got her back.
I mean spn fans fundamentally do not see jack as an autonomous person so it only makes sense that nobody can put him on equal footing in any of his relationship dynamics, but to vilify dean for having a very justified reaction to his fucking mother dying again is just an insane thing to do in the name of woobifying jack. yes, it was entirely accidental and yes, Jack is equally as traumatized by it, but that does not take away from the fact that what he did directly emotionally damaged sam and dean.
not only would a lot of fandom discourse benefit from realizing these are literally not normal functional healthy people dealing with normal situations that give them the liberty to approach said situations in normal functional healthy ways (dean promising to kill jack if he needed to in 13x02, & shooting jack in 13x23), but it would also benefit from realizing that jack is a grown ass invulnerable demigod with the capacity to cause a lot of major damage if he spins out of control, and he bears full responsibility for that damage (which is why it is actually so fucking stupid whej I see ppl say that jack becoming a baby would magically fix their conflict. no it fucking wouldn’t, you just don’t see jack as a full person with direct responsibility in said conflict and you don’t care about their relationship actually being healed mutually).
on the other hand, dean was reacting to a presumed threat almost immediately after losing two of his loved ones in a situation directly related to jack. he has every right to be wary and cautious, and given that he is actively traumatized and already an emotionally dysfunctional person from being abused by John, he isn’t exactly going to outlet his trauma healthily or behave in a way that miraculously breaks the cycle John created. I’m getting tired but lastly, ppl should also realize that jack is a grown ass adult with the emotional maturity to understand and forgive dean for the way he acted before—even while Dean actively struggles to forgive himself and tries to be as good a father as possible to make up for it.
Because again, their situation is not normal and they have no way of treating it or reacting to it normally. as far as jack knows and has seen of his powers, he is dangerous and is able to reach a point where he’s too much of a threat to keep alive. the tragedy of it is that he doesn’t want to be a threat, he doesn’t want people to fear or hate him and he doesn’t want to hurt anyone. that’s why he says “you were right all along” in moriah. between dean and jack, a huge facet in their relationship is the question of whether or not dean is right, and by the time they’ve reached a point of mutually seeing each other as father and son that question is up in the air as something neither of them want. jack never wanted dean to be right, and now that dean knows jack as a person and as his own kid he especially doesn’t want to be right anymore.
just. Please start thinking of Jack as an actual autonomous person. That is literally all it comes down to. It will open up your world

Black Velvet - (John Winchester)
Tumblr media
Warning: Mention of sexual activity
Summary: Story inspired by the song - Black Velvet by Alannah Myles. Years after he had up and left you, you run into your old flame, John Winchester.
A/N: Y/N - your name
Dividers created by @firefly-graphics
Tumblr media
John and the boys had just successfully taken care of a demon that preyed only on women; ones that enjoyed partying a bit too much and dressed extremely provocatively.
Luckily for the town's woman folk, they managed to track its vessel down before he claimed another victim. So, here they were grabbing a few drinks at the local bar in celebration of a successful hunt.
"That was one tough son of a bitch..." Dean remarks throwing himself down into the chair with a heavy grunt.
"Look who's talking..." Sam grumbles.
"You weren't the one used us bait."
"You got the whole long hair thing going on, makes ya look more like a girl from behind" Dean points out with a wave of his hand.
"That with the girl clothes made ya really convincing from a distance."
"I still can't believe you made me wear girl clothes" Sam scowls at him.
"Be glad you wore jeans instead of a skirt..." Dean flashes him a grin.
"You'd have had to shave ya legs then."
Sam doesn't respond to his remark; choosing to grumble into the glass while taking a sip of his drink instead.
"Dean, stop teasing your brother..." John reprimands him.
"Sorry, Sir" Dean responds straightening up in his seat as Sam triumphally smirks.
Scanning the room, Dean sips at his drink, silently cringing at the terrible singing of some drunk up on the stage.
"Why did we decide to go to a bar that has very bad karaoke night?"
"It's the only bar in town..." Sam shrugs in response.
"At least he's almost finished with the song."
"Thank goodness..." Dean groans out in relief.
A few minutes after the drunk leaves the stage, a very attractive looking woman takes the stage then; dressed in a black mini skirt, paired with a corset styled top, and black leather jacket.
"Why, hello there..." Dean utters out in interest.
"She's out of your league dude..." Sam remarks.
"Whaddya mean?" Dean frowns at him, pulling at the open flaps of his jacket.
"I'm an extremely attractive guy, the ladies love me."
"Keep telling yourself that and it might just come true" Sam chuckles.
"Let's hope she can sing though."
"Yeah, that would be really embarrassing" Dean nods in agreement.
"A woman so fine looking, and she ends up making a fool of herself in public would be tragic."
As the boys continued on with their little discussion neither of them had yet to notice how quiet their father had become as he stared narrow eyed at the stage as the topic of their interest begins to sing.
*
Mississippi in the middle of a dry spell
Jimmie Rogers on the Victrola up high
Mama's dancin' with a baby on her shoulder
The sun is settin' like molasses in the sky
The boy could sing, knew how to move, everything
Always wanting more, he'd leave you longing for
Black velvet and that little boy's smile
Black velvet with that slow southern style
A new religion that'll bring ya to your knees
Black velvet if you please...
"Looks like hottie can really sing and dance quite well..." Dean groans out in comment as she swings her hips to the music.
*
Up in Memphis, the music's like a heatwave
White lighting, bound to drive you wild
Mama's baby 's in the heart of every schoolgirl
"Love Me Tender" leaves them 'em cryin' in the aisle
They way he moves, it was a sin, so sweet and true
Always wanting more, he'd leave you longing for
Black velvet and that little boy's smile
Black velvet with that slow southern style
A new religion that'll bring ya to your knees
Black velvet if you please...
"Bro, I think she's looking at me..." Dean excitedly slaps Sam against the arm when the woman seductively smiles in their direction.
"I highly doubt that..." Sam drawls out in response.
*
Every word of every song that he sang was for you
In a flash, he was gone, it happened so soon
What could you do?
Black velvet and that little boy's smile
Black velvet with that slow southern style
A new religion that'll bring ya to your knees
Black velvet if you please...
With furrowed brows, Sam studies the woman for a bit; noticing something a bit strange, he turns to look at his father.
John sat dead silent; eyes narrowed as he gazed back at the woman.
"I think she's looking at Dad, not you..." Sam remarks a bit confused at the interaction between the two.
"No, she's not..." Dean scoffs.
"She's clearly checking me out."
*
Black velvet and that little boy's smile
Black velvet with that slow southern style
A new religion that'll bring ya to your knees
Black velvet if you please
If you please
If you please
If you please...
The song ends and the woman steps off the stage.
"No, she's definitely looking at Dad..." Sam shakes his head.
"Dad, you know her?"
John doesn't respond to his question, getting up from his seat instead.
"I'm gonna get some fresh air."
Tumblr media
"Wondered if you were going to follow me out or not" you remark with a smirk at seeing John walking toward you.
"It's been a long time, hasn't it?" John rasps out, his gaze dark as he stared down at you.
"Ten years..." you rasp out in response.
"What you doing here?" John asks as the two of you step further into the dark alley alongside the bar.
"Came to do a job, but you guys beat me to it."
"Alone?" John frowns in displeasure.
"I'm a very capable woman and hunter" you arch a brow in rebuttal.
"You should know that from the days we used to hunt together."
"From what I remember; I was always saving your butt" John comments, stepping closer to you.
"Then we both remember things way differently..." you drawl out, slowly backing away from him; gaze never wavering as he slowly stalked you.
"That so...?" John responds, lips slightly twitching in amusement.
"You were always jumping in front of me during an attack" you nod frowning.
"Even though I never needed your help."
Flashing a dimpled smirk, John reaches up to cup your cheek.
"You needed my help for other things though, didn't you?"
"John..." you softly whimpered, eyes fluttering close when your back came up against the alley wall.
"What's wrong, Sweetheart?" John slurs, pushing himself flushed up against you.
"Need my help again...?"
The inner turmoil inside you finally snaps as you gave in to your desires, lifting a leg to wrap around his waist.
If there was one thing you could never resist; it was the sexual charm of John Winchester.
Tumblr media
"Morning..." a voice raspily slurs against your neck, as strong arms pull you closer.
"Morning..." you groan out, smiling as you turn to face John in the bed.
"Who woulda thought we'd run into each other again after all this time...?" John stares down at you longingly, brushing your hair out of your face.
"Yeah, who woulda..." you wrinkle your nose at him in response as he tips down to kiss you.
"I missed you..."
"I definitely know something missed me, yeah..." you joke when feeling his morning erection poking at your stomach.
"Oh, he missed you a lot..." John grunts, thrusting himself against you.
"Maybe you should show me, how much he missed me..." you whisper, softly nipping at his neck.
"With pleasure..." John growls out, rolling over on top of you as you giggled in response.
Tumblr media
"Stop sulking" Sam scolds Dean as they sat in the diner, eating breakfast.
"Just don't understand where she ran off to..." Dean whines in disappointment.
"She just up and disappeared out of nowhere."
"It's for the best" Sam smugly remarks.
"She was way out of your league anyway."
"Whatever, man" Dean scowls.
"You hear anything from Dad?"
"Just the text he sent last night; that he would meet us here this morning" Sam shrugs in reply.
"Where you think he ran off to?"
"Maybe he went off with your dream woman..." Sam teasingly smirks.
"Dad's so not her type!" Dean scoffs in protest.
"You sure? Cause, it seemed to me as if they knew each other."
The two of them continued on bantering for a few minutes, until a car pulled up in the driveway of the diner.
"What the...?" Dean remarks, seeing John get out from behind the wheel of the strange car.
Mere seconds later, the woman from the night before gets out of the passenger side.
"Told you..." Sam smirks.
John and you entered into the diner, heading directly to the booth that had two men seated in it.
"Boys, this is Y/N" John introduces you to them.
"Y/N, these are my boys; Sam and Dean."
"Please to meet you" you smile at them in greeting.
The one named; Sam politely smiles at you, while Dean stares opened mouthed.
Dean snaps out of his stupider then.
"You two know each other? How?"
"We're old friends" you reply with a chuckle.
"Your dad and I were hunting partners for a bit about ten years ago."
"So, you two...?" Dean stares shocked while waving a finger between John and you.
"That's none of your business, boy" John grunts out frowning.
"Relax, Big fella..." you chuckle, slapping a palm against John's chest.
Tumblr media
After the awkward introduction, John, the boys, and you sat chatting while having breakfast. It was an enjoyable time as you guys exchanged stories of hunts, and how grumpy John would get at times.
But it wasn't long thereafter, when breakfast ended, and it was time to part ways.
"Come with us..." John suggests as you stood alongside your car.
"I can't" you whisper out softly.
"Why not?" John frowns at your reply.
"I'm retired, John... the hunter's life is no longer for me. I only took this one as a favour to an old friend."
"Retired?" John arches a brow.
"For ten years now" you nod.
"This job is too much of a risk for me to be taking now."
"If you're worried about the risk of being on the road 24/7, you don't have to" John remarks.
"We have a safe place, a bunker... it's isolated, and safe from any and all elements. You were always the better researcher between the two of us, you could stay there to help with that."
"It's not just me... I'm not alone."
"What you mean, you're not alone?" John frowns at your remark.
Realizing you had no other option but to tell John the truth, you exhale heavily in defeat.
"I have a ten-year-old daughter...at least she will be in a few months."
"Daughter...?" John stares at you open mouth.
"Ten years old?"
You silently nod, taking a picture of her out and handing it to John.
"Her name's; Lily..."
"She's...?" John murmurs out, staring at the picture of the little girl.
"She has your eyes and dimples..." you nod feeling a bit emotional, then suddenly chuckle out.
"Also has that same grumpy scowl as you."
"Why didn't you let me know?" John stares at you accusingly.
You scoff at his remark with a frown.
"You're the one that up and disappeared one day" you reminded him.
"The minute I told you, that I loved you; you ran."
John's head drops in shame at your words then.
"I was scared..." he utters out in admittance.
"Scared...?" you frown in confusion.
"Scared..." John nods, looking up into your eyes then.
"Scared of loving someone, and possibly losing them again."
You take a step closer to him, reaching up to cup his cheek.
"Why didn't you tell me any of this?"
"I thought it was for the best if I kept it to myself, that it would keep you safe then."
You couldn't help the chuckle that slipped your lips then.
"I was a hunter before we met, my life would continue to be in danger, even if we weren't together."
"I know now it was a dumb idea..." John sighs out.
"Quite dumb..." you nod chuckling.
John flashes a dimpled smirk at your remark, clearing his throat then.
"Where is she now?"
"Lily?" you reply, and John nods.
"She's at my sister's. Like I said, I'm retired, I stopped hunting because of her. This was just a favour, so I asked my sister to watch her for me."
"I'd like to meet her..." John requests quite eagerly.
"Does she even know about me?"
"I've told her about you, yes. She knows who her daddy is. Likes to look at that picture of you and I that we took back then."
"She does?" John cringes at the thought of what his daughter must think of him.
"Has she asked where I am?"
You exhale heavily then at the memories of those conversations.
"Almost every day... especially, why you never come to see her."
"What did you tell her?" John's voice comes out brokenly.
"That her daddy is extremely busy chasing bad guys, so she and everyone else could remain safe."
Tears threatening to escape from his eyes, John presses his forehead against yours.
"I'm sorry... I never should have left."
"It's ok..." you murmur as tears began to burn your own eyes.
"You'll come with us?" John stares pleadingly at you.
"Both of you?"
Biting into your lower lip, you silently nod in agreement.
John smiles, pressing a soft kiss to your lips.
"I love you..."
You couldn't suppress the whimper that slipped your lips then.
"I love you too..."
With a dimpled smirk, John grabs hold of your car keys.
"C'mon, let's go pick up our little girl, and then head on home..."
Crossing your arms over your chest, you eye him closely.
"You sure, you ain't gonna run out on us again?"
John chuckles, pulling you back into his arms.
"I promise, Sweetheart..." he presses a kiss into your hair.
"You better..." you warn him, causing him to chuckle louder.
"Get in the car..." he swats your bottom as you head for the passenger door, and you shoot him a glare over your shoulder.
"Let's go get our girl..." John smirks at you, starting up the car.
"Let's go get our girl..." you smirk in agreement.

unhinged
1.4k words | read it on ao3
This fic is an early Valentine’s Day gift for my beautiful girlfriend @breedablejensenackles and it is inspired by the way we originally started dating.
Castiel makes a Hinge account. Dean is pissed about it.
Dean is going to kill Sam.
Recently, Cas has been asking a lot of questions about ‘human mating rituals’, as he so subtly puts it. Sam, as a result, decided to set Cas up with his very own Hinge account. Dean was furious about it, which only made Sam more willing to help Cas.
“What do you care, Dean? Cas is allowed to have a little fun sometimes, too.”
Dean huffs and crosses his arms over his chest. Sam and Cas are sitting at the kitchen table together, picking the photos and answering the questions that would attract the right people.
Cas looks up at Dean with a small smile that he reserves just for him. “Maybe you should make one, Dean.”
Dean musters the ugliest look he could manage. “Over my dead body.”
Sam shrugs. “Suit yourself.”
Dean huffs again, but no one paid him any attention. It’s not like they knew why Dean was so upset. Dean barely understood it himself.
Recently, Dean has been seeing Castiel in a different light. Things that he normally might find annoying were now endearing. Dean loves when Cas rolled his eyes at his jokes. Dean loves the focus and concentration it takes for Castiel to learn something new about living as a human. Dean loves just spending time with Cas, no matter what it is they’re doing. Dean loves a lot of things about Cas, and it scares the shit out of him.
It didn’t help that Cas came out as gay a few weeks ago. Dean didn’t even know angels could have a sexuality.
“What do you think of this guy, Dean?” Castiel says innocently, shocking Dean out of his self-imposed spiral.
Dean squints to get a better look at the small phone screen. Pretty normal looking guy. Nothing special. He says as much to Cas.
Cas rolls his eyes. “I ‘did a match’ with him,” he furrows his brow, “Is that the correct phrase, Sam?”
“You matched with him, Cas.”
“Thank you, Sam.”
Dean rolls his eyes.
“Well, I think it’s a great idea to go out to a bar or a coffee shop or whatever with a stranger,” Dean interjects, sarcasm dripping from his tongue.
Cas frowns. “Thank you, Dean. I appreciate your support.”
“I wasn’t being—” Dean starts to reply, but then decides against correcting Cas, “No problem, man.”
---
Dean’s phone beeps from his pocket. He unlocks it to see he has an unread message from Cas.
Cas: I think I’m going to go.
Cas left for a case in Nevada with Jack a couple of days ago. Father-son bonding, Castiel had called it. Dean wondered if Cas meant to send the text to Jack. Castiel was still struggling to get the hang of technology.
Dean: Go where?
Cas: On the date with the man from the website.
Cas: You said it was a good idea.
Dean put his phone down and took a deep breath. Cas. On a Hinge date, of all things. He couldn’t stomach it.
He imagines Castiel being charmed by a faceless man. He imagines the man flirting with Castiel. He imagines the man reaching for Castiel’s hand, and Castiel allowing it. He imagines the man leaning in to kiss Castiel…
No.
He can’t let this happen.
But what other choice did he have?
Dean: Or you could let me take you on a date instead.
He stares at the message. He lets it sit there, taunting him. He can’t actually send that, right? He doesn’t want to ruin the carefully crafted friendship he and Cas have, one where they don’t address their feelings whatsoever and dance around anything that might send them tipping right over the edge of something that Dean is too terrified to consider.
Dean walks over to the wall of his bedroom and smacks his forehead against it. The action doesn’t provide any clarity, and only serves to worsen the headache he’s developing.
Dean stares at his phone again.
He grabs his coat from the hook by his bedroom door, yells to Sam that he’s going for a walk, and stalks outside into the cold.
As soon as he’s away from the bunker, he pulls that damned phone back out of his pocket and rereads the message he wrote. And he presses send.
He then promptly throws his phone ten feet away from him to avoid facing what he just did.
He stands there near the front door of the bunker, staring at his now most likely broken phone sitting on the black asphalt of an empty road. I can’t believe I just did that, he thinks to himself. I just ruined everything.
Dean realizes that he has to actually pick up his phone if he wants to know what Cas has to say. He grabs it, avoiding eye contact with the screen like it might kill him if he so much as blinks in its direction. And then he starts walking.
He must have walked ten miles by the time he hears another beep. At least that’s what it felt like. He slowly lifts his phone up and unlocks it.
Cas: I would like that, Dean.
Dean’s face splits in half with a grin. It doesn’t even feel real. Maybe it’s not, his brain supplies. He sends another message to Cas to convince himself otherwise.
Dean: I hope you understand how serious I am. I’m taking you on a date. It’ll be way better than that creep from Hinge.
Cas: You’re much better than any man on that website.
Dean is giddy. He’s never been able to describe himself that way, but nothing else fits the way he’s feeling in this moment. He asked Cas out. Cas said yes.
---
Dean is watching a movie when Cas and Jack get home.
Cas walks through the door, and immediately stops in his tracks the second he sees Dean.
“Hey,” Dean says softly.
“Hello, Dean.”
Dean pats the spot next to him on the couch. “Wanna join me?”
Cas nods minutely and slowly floats over to where Dean is seated. Dean can tell that he’s nervous.
“I won’t bite,” Dean says with a smirk.
Cas rolls his eyes and looks away, but Dean can tell that he’s smiling.
Cas sits on the opposite end of the couch from Dean. Dean stands up and moves to sit right next to Cas, their knees touching.
“Is this okay?” Dean asks.
Cas nods in answer. Dean leans over and reaches his arm across the back of the couch, brushing his fingers against Cas’ shoulder. The tension slowly leaves Castiel’s body as he allows his shoulder to fall against Dean’s chest. Dean looks down at Cas, who is entirely too focused on the movie that Dean no longer cares about. His chest constricts when he realizes just how much he wanted this. Something he thought he could never have.
“Cas,” Dean whispers, loud enough to regain the angel’s attention.
Cas lifts his head to meet Dean’s eyes. “Yes?”
Dean’s eyes flick down to Castiel’s mouth. It would be so easy to…
“Come here.”
“I’m right here, De—” Castiel is cut off by Dean pressing their mouths together.
Dean can tell Cas doesn’t know what he’s doing, so he traces Castiel’s jawbone back until he’s able to gently cradle the back of Castiel’s skull and press closer into his body. As soon as he does that, Cas responds in kind, opening his mouth just enough to allow Dean to slide his tongue against Cas’ bottom lip. Castiel sighs at the contact and slips his arms around Dean’s hips. They move together in tandem, Castiel matching Dean’s every push and pull. Dean thinks to himself that he’s never been happier than in this moment.
But then Cas pushes Dean away.
“Cas, Cas buddy, I’m so sorry, I just—I’ve wanted this for so long. I shouldn’t have done that. I’ll just go.”
Cas grabs Dean’s arm before he can get up from the couch.
“We haven’t even gone on a date yet, Dean. We’re doing this entirely out of order. At least, according to what Sam told me.”
Once Dean catches up with what Cas is saying, he kisses him again, if only to get him to shut up about his brother. “Don’t listen to Sam ever again.”
Whatever Cas says next is muffled against Dean’s lips. Castiel doesn’t mind.

I know some other people have said this but that apartment fight was just the most horrifying spectacle. In some ways, it actually reminded me of Gamora and her sister from Guardians of the Galaxy. Their father forced them to fight each other for dominance and the one who lost would suffer the consequences. While what happened between Miguel and Robby is obviously not the same, it does give me those vibes.
First off, Johnny continuously lies to both Robby and Miguel to get them to become friends despite both of them making it clear that they have no desire to do so. Robby even says that Johnny and Miguel can have their thing and he’s just not interested. Rather than respecting Robby’s wishes, Johnny forces them into a fight to “sort out their issues.” When you take into account how Johnny has treated Robby throughout the show, it actually makes the fight even more sickening. From the start, Johnny has always pinned Robby and Miguel’s rivalry on Robby. Despite Robby being his son, he has never once even bothered to even think about the possibility that Robby is not the one responsible for the whole thing. He never once even considers that Miguel could be the one to blame. He has no problem accusing Robby of starting fights in juvie despite having no way of knowing what actually happened. He saw his son (whom he’d already hurt by failing to show up on a visit that HE scheduled) with a gigantic bruise on his face and immediately accused him of starting a fight. Then when he and Robby speak about the school fight (when Robby yet again is one to reach out to Johnny) and Robby makes an attempt to defend himself, Johnny immediately shuts him down despite having been the one to bring the subject up by saying that he wasn’t there. Then in s5, Johnny really goes above and beyond and drags Robby to Mexico by lying to him about why they were going. He actively puts Robby in danger simply by even taking him to Mexico in the first place and then gets into one bad situation after another. It was Robby who had to jump in to help Johnny fight off they guys trying to steal from him. It was Robby who had to bail Johnny out and get him the money to get the van back. All Johnny did during this time was stand around making stupid comments and annoying people. Then when he gets the phone call from Carmen, he tells her that she shouldn’t be putting herself in danger as Robby sits there and listens. You can see in Robby’s face how much that hurts him. Johnny was more worried about the safety of his girlfriend who is a grown woman and whose son it was that they were looking for to begin with than he was about the safety of the son that he has already hurt and abandoned countless times and was actively putting in danger just by bringing him along on a trip he didn’t even want to go to. Then after all that, when they find Miguel, Johnny rushes to him an sweeps him up in a hug that makes the one he had with Robby at the end of s4 pale in comparison.
Now after all this, when both boys have made it clear they are not interested in being friends, Johnny is still too wrapped up in thinking about what he wants that he just keeps on ignoring that. So instead of dealing with it like a responsible parent/mentor, he twist a drunk and upset Daniel’s words and makes the boys physically fight things out. Aside from the fact that making two kids physically fight each other is abusive in general, as some others have pointed out, this fight was never meant to benefit Robby to begin with. By making Miguel and Robby fight each other, Johnny was quite literally offering Robby up on a silver platter to Miguel. Think back to Miguel’s words to Sam at the first avt, Miguel told Sam to just wait and watch what he does to Robby. So Miguel’s desire to hurt Robby didn’t just start after the school fight. No, it started right from the moment he met Robby at that party. He attacked Robby before he’d even said two words to him and then made it very clear that he wanted to hurt him badly during the avt. Which is exactly what he did. The way we are shown the school fight in the flashbacks makes it seem as though it is entirely from Miguel’s perspective. Which means that it neglects to show how it was Miguel who attacked Robby first and then kept on attacking him until Robby had no choice to fight back. It neglects to show how Miguel literally had Robby face down on the ground in pain as he twisted his arm behind his back. So from the start, the only person this fight could have ever benefitted is Miguel. For the first time, Miguel actually got to hurt Robby as much as he wanted to and he got to do it with Johnny’s permission.
Johnny could have stopped the fight the second Miguel kicked Robby in the face and made him bleed. Instead he just stood there and let it happen. Funnily enough, it wasn’t until Robby started getting a bit more aggressive that Johnny made so much as a remark to get them to stop. Even then, as Miguel kept beating the absolute crap out of Robby and Robby was limp in Miguel’s grip as Miguel held him up against the railing, Johnny didn’t stop it. He could have easily rushed in and pulled Miguel off at any point instead he just stood there yelling and waving his arms. He didn’t even step in until after Miguel and Robby talked and Robby took all the blame for the fight while Miguel stood there and pretended to be some saintly hero who was being oh so generous by accepting Robby’s apology while not offering a single word of apology himself. Then of course Johnny revealed that news and you can see in Robby’s face the moment he just shuts down completely. After having just been beaten almost to a pulp by his father’s student during a fight his father arranged, he understands now that the only way to gain a place in Johnny’s life is to do whatever Johnny wants him to do and make nice with Miguel. It is in that moment that Robby finds himself well and truly trapped in the role that we see him playing for the rest of this season. Johnny has made it clear that Robby’s life means very little to him compared to the life Johnny has with the Diazes and the only way for Robby to gain acceptance is to essentially kneel at their feet and be their emotional (or even physical if need be) punching bag. Johnny has treated Robby horrifically throughout the show but in this season he has gone above and beyond and has escalated to actually abusing Robby. I’ve said before that while Johnny may well “love” Robby in the way that parents naturally love their children, he very clearly doesn’t love or even really like Robby as a person at all and that is not in any way Robby’s fault at all. No, it is 100% Johnny’s fault yet it’s Robby who keeps paying the price

I was thinking about Milton and him being, you know, a haunting corpse and gosh, the gore potential this fic of yours have. I can imagine how epic would be to have Falls the shadow as a comic too and see in image Joke expressions, his states of mind and Brennan ghost TALKING and spiting the facttss on his father face. This oc gave me chills... How can all your works can be so fantastic
OMG?? You drew art for my boy Brennan/Milton?? It looks AMAZING, thank you so much!! I'm super flattered that you got interested in him. He's got a dubious OC status, since Joker having a son with Jeannie (as per The Killing Joke) is a thing in comics like Arkham Asylum: Madness, Batman: Three Jokers and even the recent The New Golden Age. But I still had to add quite a lot to him from my own imagination and I'm glad he's compelling! Falls the Shadow as a comic is super cool to imagine.
I do personally love stories that use horror and gore to psychologically break characters or expose their inner conflict, and for Joker that can be such an interesting thing to do. Sam Kieth, the guy who wrote Arkham Asylum: Madness, is the one to come up with "Milton" for Joker's lost son; and he's the kind of writer to keep in mind the symbolism of things a lot, so I'm pretty sure it's a reference to Paradise Lost. Which is why I also got nerdy and chose "Brennan Kairos" as a changed name for him on purpose. "Brennan" is of Irish origin and signifies "sorrow", and "Kairos" in Ancient Greek meant "time". As a character, Brennan is in many ways tragedy reaching back through time to haunt Joker, and I wanted his name to reflect that.
But thank you again for the kinds words and the art!! Very happy the story captivated you.

Loss in common:
Enter Millie, The Prickly-but-Hopeful Fixer
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[We note that, even after all this time, Millie's building carries the MoL Aquarian star of protection, and it's still Winchester Garage, not...whatever-her-maiden-name is.]
When we first meet Millie, she's bitter. As the one who "kept the lantern on," "the one who stayed," she's hurt and defensive, a lot like how Dean grows to be in latter seasons of SPN.
(Even post-demonicity, Dean is still expected to be the soft place to fall for everyone. Even after Jack kills Mary, Cas has this expectation of Dean's soft-heartedness: "it's possible he could work through this. One day, he may explode and let it all out and breathe deeply and move on.")
Anyway, Millie!
Her reunion with John is part passive-aggressive but loving. We see that Millie, like Dean, has intense abandonment trauma. She speaks abrasively-but-affectionately. She calls John "Kid, Kiddo, etc." which was a go-to with Dean for both Claire Novak and Jack Kline.
JOHN: Love what you've done with the place. MILLIE (passive-aggressive): Well, my husband and son walked out on me, so. It's the best I could do. (growing emotional) Dammit. Welcome home, Kiddo.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gruff, abrasive, imperfect? Maybe. But full of love.
Alt John and Millie are united by the common loss of Henry, just as Prime John, Sam, and Dean were united by the common loss of Mary.
John thinks Henry walked out on them, but I think Millie is likely more complex. With her tacit knowledge of the Men of Letters, I think it's reasonable that she at least suspects that he might be dead.
What does that tell us about her? It tells us that the loss of Henry was unbelievably painful--it's probably easier for her to consider he left than the very likely truth: his demise.
She's a fixer. That's what she does.
She holds out hopeless hope.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
JOHN: I'm fine, Mom. MILLIE: The Hell you are. You've been chasing your dad since he walked out that door. I know that's why you enlisted. But it is time to let the past go, kiddo.
But Millie isn't healed either. She hasn't let the past go, even as she pursues her dream of being a mechanic and owning a garage (like her father). Letting the past go hasn't helped her heal.
In fact, carrying on hunting and the MoL business is what seems to soothe her loss, giving her new meaning and purpose. Millie and John's push-pull dynamic with hunting is much like how it was with Ellen and Jo Harvelle.
///
But overall, we see what Henry's absence wrought. It's just as Henry feared in SPN Prime (9x17 Mother's Little Helper):
HENRY: Therein lies the problem. As our initiation grows closer, I... I worry that this might be a selfish endeavor on my part. JOSIE: Selfish. How? HENRY: If anything were to happen to me, what of John? Millie? JOSIE: They'd be proud to know that you answered the call. HENRY: No. My wife would be a widow, and my son fatherless. I don't expect you to understand. You don't have a fam--[he pauses] I'm sorry, Josie. I didn't mean it that way. JOSIE: I know, Henry. You're a good man. Millie is lucky to have you.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This directly parallels Cas and his allegiance to his work, Heaven, (Heaven is a truck, and Cas is a truck-driver; Dean thinks he's Josie when he's actually Millie).
It also beings to mind the visual of ("little John") Jack's entrance as he wanders around muttering, "Father. Fa-ther. Father. I need to find him. Castiel. He was supposed to be here," while looking for his long-expected, lost father in 13x01 Lost and Found.
But it's also an off-key parallel to prime John, who would become as Millie was, a bereft widower in the cold, floundering and ill-equipped to handle the dangers of the supernatural world.
///
Enter Mary, Action Hero
Tumblr media
(Note: Mary's got a short range, so I love how she uses speed to her advantage to get larger targets off-balance.)
///
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And importantly, John...is NOT allowed to look cool. It's a RULE. He's a dorky...little...guy.
Tumblr media
Mary knocks the demon into a blessed holy water vat, a call-forward to something prime John will do in SPNprime 01x21 Salvation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
//
Tumblr media
When Alt John and Alt Mary meet:
Mary's father has been absent (missing) from her life for a short time, and John's father Henry has been absent for most of his life, just as when Dean and Cas meet, theirs too is a tale of missing fathers. Cas's father was absent for all of his life, and Dean's flaky dad has been gone for a (relatively) short time. It also very obviously parallels Sam and Dean searching for their missing father.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When they break inside the Men of Letters clubhouse, Mary keys into John's emotions about his father. This reminds me of of the first time Dean keyed in really hard to Cas's emotions in 5x16.
///
JOHN: How do you cope with it all? MARY (wryly, jokingly): I'll let you know when I find out. (SPNwin 1x01)
//
DEAN: Yeah, I get it. I know how you feel. CASTIEL: How do you manage it? DEAN (wryly, jokingly): On a good day, you get to kill [The Whore of Babylon]. (SPN 5x17)
///
Recent losses of friends & family:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Additionally, Mary and John have both suffered recent losses. Mary lost her narrative twin Maggie, and John lost his comrade Murph to war.
[Mary's cousin went to Hell, just as Sam's brother went to Hell in season in vintage and mid-SPN.] Mary's hunting family was torn asunder, parents separating.
And John? WIth war, John signed up to fill a void left by his father, to find meaning in life.
We can even recall Dean's words to Gordon in 2x03 Bloodlust, how Dean struggled with the idea of "The Invincible Dad" and how his death made the word more terrifying, how it left a wound of depression inside of him that he sought to fill with meaning through work:
DEAN: Yeah. Yeah, you know. He was just one of those guys. Took some terrible beatings, just kept coming. So you're always thinking to yourself, he's indestructible. He'll always be around, nothing can kill my dad. Then just like that (snaps) he's gone. I can't talk about this to Sammy. You know, I gotta keep my game face on. (clears throat) But, uh, the truth is I'm not handling it very well. Feel like I have this - GORDON: Hole inside you? And it just gets bigger and bigger and darker and darker? Good. You can use it. Keeps you hungry. Trust me. There's plenty out there needs killing, and this'll help you do it. Dean, it's not a crime to need your job.
Dean lost his dad, and Gordon lost his sister. This emptiness is depression. John lost his dad and suffered that loss all his life. He signed up to the war for the GLORY OF PURPOSE. He didn't sign up to the war for more pain and grief, but that's exactly what he got.
What's the thing Dean can't fill up, not with booze or love or even sex? It's grief and pain. It can only be filled with love, which is what Cas's confession narratively does in 15x18.
It's also what Mary's love and the love of the Core 4 will eventually do for John.
///
SPN Prime season 8 side-parallel: Connections of recent grief ALSO calls to mind season 8, how Sam connected with Amelia when they had both suffered a loss, Sam lost his narrative twin to Purgatory and Amelia lost her husband to war.
Theirs was a fast-paced reactionary relationship born of grief, something that pinged and annoyed Amelia's father, leading him to be very passive-aggressive with Sam. (Her father was a dick, but he's both a soldier himself and does know her best and probably has her best interests in mind. He recognized that was Amelia mid-freakout, OOC. He pings that her out-of-characterness is a weird reaction to grief).
He was right to be concerned about the shallowness and stability of it. These types of reactionary relationships are well-known: they can be very shaky, melodramatic, idealized, and weak when stress-tested.

Sam (and vintage Dean) both have this tendency to be all-in or all-out when it comes to The Cause. Neither strike a balance very easily. They tend to either be ALL IN for the Perfect War with Perfect War Companions at Your Side...or rushing into something tenuous that represents a weak idea that winds up unsatisfying because it's not genuine: Perfect White Picket Fence or Howling-at-the-Moon Dishibitory Party Life.
In SPNwin, John is doing a lot of running, too. He rushes into the thing with Betty (weak and tenuous), then he rushes into war, he rushes into hunting, and he runs into the relationship with Mary.
This theme of Running into Danger / Running From Danger persists. John certainly struggles with it, BUT in a departure from his past behavior, this new thing with Mary gets a lot of stress-testing, eventually moving from limerence into turbulence, power struggle, and de-idealization. (SPNwin 1x12, The Tears of a Clown)
///
SO.
Mary and her ragtag gang of friends embark on a journey to look for the missing Samuel Campbell the way Sam and Dean look for the errant John Winchester, the way the Banes twins look for their mother Tasha Banes in Twigs, Twine, & Tasha Bane.
Certainly the core 4 are all "running scared" and clinging to one another, having all lost loved ones in a variety of ways. They are united in empathy over their respective losses:
John (dad, comrades)
Mary (narrative sibling, missing dad, splintered family and parental separation)
Carlos (whole family killed by a monster)
Lata (no-contact with her family because they allowed her beloved nanny to die; nonsensical/cruel hierarchy of human society)
Ada (husband lost to madness, son potentially a puppy-destined-to-be-wolf)

And finally we get Henry's letter:
If you're reading this, then I'm gone. I'm sorry I kept the truth from you, John. There's a dangerous world out there, and our family has fought that danger for centuries. The answers to all your questions are at the address below. I love you and your mother. Always.
I think this idea of Henry Winchester as a secret-keeper, and as Mary-prime as a secret-keeper fed into what we know about John-prime turned into: a neuroses of paranoia and over-preparedness.
But thanks to Dean, Alt John has some new tools to work through this: knowledge. Even his anger is useful, openly telling his mother how disappointed and betrayed he feels over being kept in the dark. For her part, she gives him her emotional truth: that she only wanted to protect him.
It's the first healing step for both of them.

(Cyrus and Joye)
Cyrus and Joye are two very different characters so this will be fun
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cyrus on the left. Joye on the right.
8: what’s their backstory?
This might be a long one so I’ll simplify their backstories. But not their character arcs because that would take ages.
Cyrus- Born into a family that has impossibly high expectations of him, Cyrus is unable to achieve those expectations and is often regarded as a failure. Due to the hostile environment he’s grown up in, he does not understand a lot of how the world works which has caused him to be immensely curious about it. He’s especially heard about “love” (both platonic and romantic), viewing it as some sort of magical “thing” that needs to be obtained. So when he met Livius, an incarnate that seemed to “love” him, he believed that he had finally found it. Which is why he stayed together with him for so long despite the pain before divorcing him. He eventually finds a new partner in the form of Anthony. I’ve discussed Cyruses character arc a few times so I won’t write it here to avoid making this too long.
Joye- similar to Cyrus, Joye was born into a family with high expectations for her, but unlike him, she had her father Salfor who was there to care for her. As she grew up, she took up terraforming just like most other incarnates but somewhere along she met Mikal the human. Simplifying a lot, eventually the two were wed with a son, Anthony. Their relationship was highly contentious at the time, and it only got worse when the Hybrid Civil War started. While the family survived, their entire existence was essentially made illegal, especially Anthony. After Mikals death at the hands of Rem, Joye was tasked to keep Anthony and her friends -who relied on her- safe. She understood that she had to be the one to give them hope, so never once did she shed a tear in front of them despite her grief. Her mentality began to shift, slowly becoming more protective of Anthony. While she tried to be the best mother she could, she had essentially tied the entire purpose of her life to being a parent for her son. If something were to happen to him, she would no longer see any point to live.
35: do they have friends? If so, are they close knit?
Cyrus- Cyruses only friend is pretty much Anthony, and Anthony’s friends such as Sam and Joye. He has a great grandfather named Kokan who he occasionally speaks to, but isn’t really friends with. Cyrus is always pretty distant towards those he knows, not because he doesn’t care, but because he doesn’t know how to be closely affectionate with them.
Joye- Joye has had a few friends over her life, Jeffrey, Mikal, Anthony, Sam, Arin, and Salfor. She is fiercely loyal to any and all friends she has, not afraid to risk her life for them. Even though her friends aren’t all friends with each other, she still does her best to make them get along and usually succeeds.
36: Family life?
Cyrus and Joye- good and bad at the same time.
Parents? Awful except for Joyes father Salfor.
Partners? Great, both of them have loving partners and healthy relationships with them.
Relatives? Haven’t written much lore for Cyruses relatives outside of his immediate family. For Joye though. She has a cousin named Arin who she used to be friends with, but stopped speaking to when she got older.
Children? (For Joye) complicated. Joye tries to be the best parent she can be, but she definitely isn’t perfect and makes some pretty huge mistakes.
80: how would they fare in a zombie apocalypse?
Cyrus- Cyrus is a very loving guy and would be completely crushed to witness an apocalypse of any kind. Ultimately, he would probably be one of the first people to get turned as he would refuse to fight anybody, knowing that they used to be normal people.
Joye- Joye has fought and killed people, so unless the zombies are her friends or those she cares about, she would have no trouble fighting her way through the apocalypse. I’m the end though, she would most likely sacrifice herself for somebody to keep them safe.
91: do other characters respect them out of fear or…respect? (Forgot the exact wording)
Cyrus- hardly anybody respects him. In fact, he’s more of a laughingstock than a person who’s part of a powerful family. The only people who care are Anthony and his family, and they very much respect Cyrus out of kindness and courtesy, not fear.
Joye- It’s actually a bit hard to pinpoint the exact answer for this question for her. On one hand, Joye is certainly quite intimidating and could easily make people respect her out of fear, but at the same time, Joye isn’t the type of person to want that. She’s quite respectful (most of the time), but in their society, being polite isn’t enough to be respected. You MUST have power in order to gain it. So, I’ll go with 50, 50, sometimes people fear her, and other times, people are polite or mocking of her.

Did Orion know that Walburga was shagging Voldy on the side? Or was he an oblivious idiot? Did he know there was a possibility Sirius and Regulus weren’t his? Was that why he was such a shitty father? Or did he not care because he had another bird?
Remember in the 6th book where we learned the more horcruxes Voldemort made the more of a monster he physically became and looked like one. Do you think he lost his tadger in the process too? Think about it Sam it makes sense, he makes a horcrux and he feels something off under his robes he lifts them up and his tadger is gone but it’s not a gabhal either. Huh I wonder what his pronoun would be…
This is discussed a bit in Bête Noire. Everyone knew they both were having affairs. They knew the other one was having affairs. It was very much an open marriage and they did what they wanted as long as they maintained the “integrity” of the family. I use that term loosely.
Orion wasn’t interested in raising kids or having a father/son relationship. He was interested in raising heirs and building the institution that was the Black family. I honestly think Orion didn’t give a shit who fathered those boys as long as they were Black heirs and known as Blacks. In his mind, those boys fulfilled his family duty. I honestly think that most pureblood families were very hypocritical and used blood purity as a means to feel superior. They didn’t always follow what they preached. Orion didn’t give a fuck about keeping the line pure as much as he cared at it being perceived as that way.
I think everyone in that family questioned Sirius’ and Regulus’ parentage except for the boys themselves. Sirius, even as a thirty-six year old man who knows his parents both actively cheated on each other, does not even think it’s a possibility and is confused by the subtle hints. It’s clear as day Andromeda has her suspicions. But she would never voice that suspicion out loud to him because she knows it would destroy him. She’s not even one hundred percent sure.
Also, I don’t want to think about Voldy losing his you know what. Gosh. I swear you guys try to traumatize sometimes.
