#giving donnie a child only to take her away like that

Ok I am for real falling in love with Clara. Like... sad that she'd die before Donnie but also... what if Leo did try to hide it but Donnie figured it out himself because A) he knows his twin and knows when he's hiding something and B) he never actually got rid of/lost that old dream catcher. Does it hurt that Leo didn't tell him? Yes!
I mean, i could definitely see Donnie figuring it out, but probably not until pretty late. Like maybe when they're already away on that mission.
B/c one of the several reasons Leo wouldn't tell him, is because he knows Donnie would try to save her. He's been trying to subvert visions for a while, though usually through covert, tricky ways, but has never been able to accomplish much past changing little things. Leo knows this isn't something Donnie would be able to change, and that it would end much like how Leo's attempt to save Raph did, with extra casualties.
If Donnie knew, he would not just sit around and let it happen. Nor would he let Leo take him away on that mission in the first place. So Donnie can't know before they leave, or else he just wouldn't go.
as for why Donnie wouldn't figure it out. He trusts Leo to tell him the very important visions like that. And Leo always has, up until this one. It's just this one he never shared with Donnie.
And yeah, Leo's acting pretty shady before they leave, but Donnie can pass that off as their mission is going to get complicated or something like that. Also like, just part denial i guess. Clara's his daughter. She's the one thing (along with CJ) that he's certain he can't loose.
So if Donnie ever figured it out before it could happen, it would have to be while he was on that mission. Maybe he realizes said mission is going smoothly and that his brother seems to be dreading every communication they get from base. and he just starts putting two and two together.
I know that's not exactly what you were talking about, but honestly, if Donnie knew ahead of time, there would be nothing stopping him from interfering in it besides Leo physically knocking him unconscious.
Thank you!

PEEPAW LEO AS AN ADOPTIVE FATHER
....................................
Let me start this off by saying that this man-
This man is best dad.
He finds a lost child?
'Tis his child now.
You are his child now.
Casey?
He's ecstatic.
NEW SIBLING LES GO
Especially since you're younger than him,
(Not by much, maybe afew months)
Casey makes it his life mission to protect you at all costs.
His favorite thing to do is hold your hand and lead you around.
Leo is so so good at being a dad.
I mean look as CJ,
He's got this ok?
Feeling clingy?
He'll hold you until you want him to put you down.
Nightmares?
That's ok kiddo, come curl up next to Papa, he'll keep all those monsters away.
When you get older, you are not going anywhere without him, Casey, or anyone else.
It's not safe, and the same rule applies to CJ.
So you guys go on lots of scouting missions together.
You two may as well be twins, you never go anywhere without the other.
Sometimes, you and Casey will be sent to scout really last minute,
And Leo won't be notified until you two are gone.
Whenever this happens he gets super pissed off and worried because those are his kids,
He should be the one to give them clearence to leave,
Not some random officer who decided to send you two out.
If one of you ever comes back hurt,
God speed to whomever sent the two of you out.
Leo is mad.
Like, mad-mad.
So are April, Mikey, and Donnie.
Leo would literally fall apart if he lost you or Casey.
He swore to Cass that he'd protect Casey, and he promised himself he would keep you safe.
If he lost either of you he just might completely fall apart.
Leo's busy, he's running a resistance afterall,
So he can't keep eyes on you all the time.
That's why the Hamato's take turns.
Leo's in a meeting?
Let's meditate with Master Michelangelo.
Oh he's busy too?
Time to visit Uncle Tello's lab.
Can't find him?
Well where's Commander O'neil?
Can't find her either?
Welp, enjoy the meeting, cause you're stuck there now.
Play rock paper scissors or somethin idk.
If you're around before Splinter passes, he spends alot of time around you.
He's always wanted grandchildren, and he's going to cherish you,
Especially with the world in anarchy.
When you start losing people, it get's hard.
First it was Grandpa Splints,
Then it was Uncle Tello,
Then Auntie April...
Through it all Leo made sure you were ok.
You're just a kid, and you have to grow up in this hellscape?
You've never seen the blue sky, or normal rain,
And everyone you hold close is being ripped away.
That's not fair.
So he does everything he can to make sure you grow up safe and happy.
One of his favorite things to do was tell you and Casey stories of what the world used to be like.
Your favorite is when he describes the stars.
It sounds so amazingly beautiful, shimming lights like glitter sitting up in a blackish blue abyss.
Wow...
After the events of the movie, (you knew it was coming goddammit)
Your first request is to see the stars.
Which is pretty hard since New York is really bright like all the time.
So they took you and Casey to the docks where you would be able to see them best.
You looked up at the sky in absolute awe,
Papa's words would never do the stars justice.
After a minute, you broke down in tears.
It hurt, he promised to be the one to point out the constellations and his younger self doing it just wasn't the same.
Griefing is going to be a really big thing post movie.
In the future, you never really had the chance.
Everything happened so quickly and anytime wasted on griefing could have been a death sentence.
But now, you don't have to watch every corner, you don't have to wake up in fear you'll be alone.
So you grief.
You grief your family, and Casey does too.
Sure, technically they're right outside your room.
But it's not them.
They didn't raise you.
When Leo sends you and Casey back in time,
You took it much worse than Casey, who was focused on completeing the mission.
Sure, you wanted to stop the Kraang too,
But you missed your dad...
So when you find your family's past selves,
And Leo is being so...
Reckless,
You're angry.
Really angry.
Never in your life had your father acted this way, and Casey needlessly boosting his ego 30 seconds into knowing him wasn't helping.
Through out the movie, Casey needs to remind himself that this Leo isn't your Leo.
You have absolutely no trouble with that.
You come across as cold and angry, which worries your brother since you've never been like this before.
The others just assume you're always that way.
But you're not,
And acting like this makes you hate yourself.
You're grappling with the loss of your dad, and the fact that you might fail to do what you were sent here to in the first place.
Casey pulls you aside and gives you a talk.
He understands that your hurting,
He is too,
But this isn't about the two of you.
This is about saving the world and stopping the Kraang.
After that, you can hurt all you want.
That talk ended with you sobbing into Casey's shoulder, practically collapsing to the ground while you clinged to him and begged him not to leave you too.
Aight imma hit ya with the sandwich technique.
Fluff, angst, fluff.
Boom.
When you were a kid,
You had a habit of collecting anything shiny.
Old coins, jewelry, even just shiny rocks.
If it glimmered, you wanted it.
So whenever Leo had to leave the base, he always came back with something shiny for you to add to your hoarde.
He liked to compare you to a crow, and you asked what a crow was.
Right, raised in the apocolypse.
Sure there were plenty of birds around,
But they weren't.... normal.
So Leo explained what a crow was, and that they liked to collect shiny things.
You understood, but you wanted to know what one looked like,
So you went to Uncle Tello and asked if he could show you what a crow looks like.
He showed you, and immediatly you took to the comparison proudly.
You were like a crow!
Mikey liked to put on little shows for you and all the other children that lived in the base.
Making animals and such out of his ninpo.
Your favorite were the birds, the rabbits too.
But the best was the butterflies, which he also used to help you and Casey fall asleep.
They'd flutter around you room kinda like a nightlight.
I also like to imagine that when you and Casey start scouting, you get in trouble for fucking around.
Mostly making stupid bets for your shiny things.
Casey would collect shiny things just to make these bets.
Usually it was simple stuff, like who can throw a rock the farthest,
But even stuff like that could get both of you killed.
Neither of you really listened until one day,
You're making your bet like usual,
And the building you were scouting out wasn't as empty as you thought.
The two of you nearly fell to your deaths, luckily Casey managed to grapple the two of you to safety.
But after that, you had a major fear of heights, and Leo didn't let the two of you out of his sight for a while.
He made sure to scold the two of you when you returned that day,
Before hugging you and telling you how scared he was for a second.
Leo has no problem with you and Casey being included in meetings,
Honestly he prefers it.
If you two are gonna go running around scouting, you should know what's going on.
You'll have the occasional adult who thinks you and Casey are incompitent because of your age,
And that you shouldn't participate in meetings.
But Leo puts that to rest pretty quickly.
"If they can go out, and risk their lives on missions, they can attend the meetings." He'd say.
Leo loves you with his heart and soul.
If anything happened to you, he'd fall apart.
Sometimes he just needs you to have little sleepovers with him, that way he knows you're safe and sound.
He just wants to protect you.
You're his kid,
And he loves you
....................................
I wrote this while listening to anarchy by egg, and damn that song fits.
This one is LONG that's my bad, I got alittle carried away :^

a/n: a quick fic i wanted to write, hope you enjoy! love you all <3
            “Wait, you understood…all of that?”
Disguise: blown. You’d been hunkering incognito in the public for a few months now because of the optimistic and rather chaotic opening of your makeup brand. The internet was absolute chaos frothing over the strong pigment and affordable prices: everything a makeup brand should strive to be. It got orders, and that was what’s most important. However, the noise was overwhelming, and you needed to escape. Working under the guise of a pseudonym proved more useful than ever, and it let you breathe. Because of your newfound skills in makeup, you gained a few facts or two about cosmetic science and science‌. That proved to be your smoking gun when Donatello, your science friend, was ranting about his latest project going awry. He ranted, you listened. But this time, you corrected him. Two miracles: one, he was wrong, two; you knew more.
Now, you were sneaking into your own lab to sneak Donnie in to see your lab: his request. Do you feel stupid? Ashamed, even? Going out of the public eye because of your contributions to the makeup industry, only to have it return like an unwanted family member.
Donnie zipped to each glass window showcasing the millions of rows of pigments and chemicals, eyes wide like a sleep-deprived child.
“You have all of this? Locked away?”
“Yeah, mostly parabens and formaldehyde, but we also keep some chemicals like polonium, radium and-”
“Uranium?” he said, zipping from the window to your face to an uncomfortable distance. The smudges in his drawn-on eyebrows were more visible than ever, his breath resting on your face. “You have it?”
“Yes. I’ll get you some if you wait.”
You moved away, inching towards the door. Digging through your pocket brought up a dusty old keycard you kept. The photo you took on your first day, the excited face of you, the same age but optimistic. You owned a company, like a big kid. It looked hideous. The words: “FOUNDER” faded, but still legible. This is your lab, your company; should it count that you’re stealing from your own company? No, right? You made this place, and you’ll take what you want. This is your big kid company. You take what you want.
Your eyes glanced back, just for a moment, and you can already see Donnie staring at you as if you grew spider legs on your back. Right, making this quick. In, out, five minutes. You quickly scrubbed in, dressed in a white coat and blue gloves. Entering the room, a wave of dust hits you. This caused you to cough vigorously, trying to get whatever entered your throat out.
Eventually, you got your breath back in you, and gave Donnie a thumbs up. His expression is unchanged, giving you one back without looking up from his notebook. Of course.
“How much do you want?”
“As much as possible, five grams exactly.”
It’d been a while since you strolled down your lab, but the descent reminded you of when you were mixing your first lipstick formula. Olive oil, coconut oil, and beeswax into a bowl and adding a few drops of purple food coloring were the first of many that you made. It was rudimentary and tacky at best, but all your mother did was pat you on the back. Mommy’s little chemist. Now, she speaks to you more like a coworker than her child. In the eyes of success, you got robbed of the thing you didn’t know you’d miss: an embrace.
But now’s no time to reminisce. Now’s the time for uranium, which was conveniently at the back of the hallway in a little lead container locked behind a plastic door. The uranium had probably five grams from the size of it. You looked around the room, seeing if there were any drawers or cabinets, and thankfully there were plenty. Cabinet after cabinet after cabinet, you finally found the keys in a drawer a few steps away from the uranium. You didn’t question why the uranium was there, which in hindsight sounds idiotic, but that wasn’t on your mind at the moment. You unlocked the case and quickly took the disc of uranium out of the cabinet and was out of the door faster than you could count. An alarm was what you’d expected, but surprisingly, it was quieter than a mouse. A relief.
Before you could blink, the disc was out of your hands and into Donnie’s embrace. He practically cradled it like it was his child.
“You’re welcome.”
Donnie’s head clicked towards you. “Oh, thank you. This means a lot. I’m not trying to be sarcastic about that, really, thank you.”
“No problem, can’t wait to see what you cook up with this,” you said, noticing a hidden square behind his back. When you stepped to his side, you spotted an open notebook with what looked like scribbles.
 Scribbles? When did Donnie draw?
“You draw?” you questioned, looking at the notebook without a second thought. Donnie tried quickly turning back around to hide the contents, but you’d already gotten a view: it was a drawing, or more a sketch of an invention. A new eyeliner, covered in holographic purple metal, was obviously marked with his signature on the bottom. Then it clicked. This was a gift. Donnie’s gift.
Donnie froze, staring at you as if to judge and gauge your reaction. In truth, he was terrified. To him, giving handmade gifts was everything. The attention to detail, the effort and work to make it personal, it was everything. But people hadn’t always appreciated those gifts in the way he hoped. So, with this, everything changed in the balance. Whether he’d keep or lose a friend, that friend being you.
“Is that for me?”
“No…it’s not finished yet. It’s unpolished, barely even refined. That doesn’t make a suitable gift…”
You could see the lies that covered his obviously first plan for a gift, but knowing Donnie, it wouldn’t do any good to call him out on his lie and injure his already egregious ego. However, a snort escaped your throat as you tilted your head to the side. It was adorable to see him stare in confusion, clutching the notebook like it was his personal schoolgirl diary.
“I won’t judge, honest. I thought you’d sketch on your many tablets.”
“Those are for calculations, not meaningless sketches.”
“Can I see your drawing?”
If we’re being honest, Donatello’s opinion shifted about you so many times that day. It was troubling. When he first met you, he thought of you as he did everyone: ordinary. Another known person to wave to when you crossed paths. But in just one night, it catapulted into something he could never imagine. First, you corrected him on one of his experiments. You listened, and you were right. But one data point isn’t enough to make a valid analysis for someone. So, he inquired more and went to your lab. Second, what he failed to get for how many years now, you simply got like that. He didn’t know if that ticked him off or if it made him adore you more. You were an equal, maybe even more. Hell, probably more than he could ever imagine. Two points.
You can’t make an assumption on just two data points, but Donnie handed over the notebook, trying his best to make it seem nonchalant.
He failed. But you wouldn’t say that.
Now that you were looking at the drawing Donnie did up close, it was, to say succinctly, amazing. The lines were grainy, yet perfectly straight, the shapes were sleek, and of course, lovely shimmering purple as an official coat of paint. It was better than any of the chicken scratches you called designs. This could be the best design for any packaging you could’ve asked for.
Donnie was silent as you, obviously, surveyed the designs he made. At first, he was in a mix of utter panic. You’re looking at his designs. But they were drafts, sloppy scribbles. If he wanted to present his design to you, it should be polished. Just like him, or more, the confident persona he presented. But, as your observations grew longer, that panic bubbled into terror. Was there a mistake, a potential oversight he overlooked? Could there even be one?
“You made this, Donnie?”
“Yes…I did- make it just now.”
“It’s…”
Donnie’s shoulders tensed up. This could be- no, this was the loss of a friend.
“... amazing. You made this just now?”
Huh?
“Huh? Oh, yes. I got a flash of inspiration, if you should know.”
“It’s great. I can’t wait to see it polished. Send it to me and I’ll try to make it real.”
You slammed the notebook back into his arms, walking towards the door. You had enough events to happen tonight. But surprisingly, Donnie followed with eager enthusiasm, more than you ever saw in him, and even though it could’ve been the bright light of the moon, you could’ve sworn you saw a smile.

Striding forward a few steps, Raphael wasn’t bothered at all when Leon scrambled to detach Lil Mikey from himself and herd him near Donnie so he could turn to face Raphael with his hands held in a defensive barrier between his brothers and Raphael. Crouching before the three, Raphael raised a hand in offer, noting Loen eyeing it, then him, warily.
“Hey. Sorry for scaring you. I don’t want to fight anymore, okay?” Raphael apologized simply, keeping his hand out for a handshake. Leon could only look at him suspiciously, blinking at the offered hand, and then squinting suspiciously at Raphael. Was he trying to trick him somehow? When was the last time someone other than his family had apologized to him for scaring him?
While Leon was considering his options, and Raphael’s motivations, Raphael decided to change tactics, carefully raising his hand towards Leon. The kid’s eyes widened for a moment, and he looked about ready to dart. But thankfully he stayed relatively in place. It could have been because Lil Mkey had whispered to him that it was okay, but Raphael liked to think that Leon was taking a leap of faith that Raphael didn’t mean any harm. None of them had meant him harm in the first place, it was just a habit for them to be ready to fight when there was an intruder. But after realizing they were probably dealing with another cross dimension sibling they’d just wanted to get him to sit in one place long enough to talk, while not getting hurt themselves.
As Raphael’s hand got close to him Leon’s eyes snapped shut and he turned his head away with a soft hiss, as though he expected to get smacked. Raphael couldn’t blame him for reacting that way, and instead just motivated to be even more careful than he had already planned. There was a bandage on Leon’s head that hadn’t gone unnoticed, and Raphael was careful to avoid it as he tenderly rested his hand on the kid’s crown, gently rubbing back and forth. “It’s okay kid. I’m not mad,” Raphael assured, giving a rare, soft smile. “And I’m not going to hurt you, or any of your brothers. Okay? You’re safe here. We just want to help.”
He wasn’t sure how many more times they’d have to repeat it before Leon started to believe them, but he just kept gently petting the kid’s head. And when Leon opened his eyes again to peek at him, Raphael just smiled a bit bigger. “There you are. See? All good.”
The comment barely calmed Leon’s nerves, having fully expected to get scolded in some manner. But his shoulders did droop somewhat, and he finally turned more towards Lil Mikey to nuzzle his nose against Lil Mikey’s head in silent comfort. “...What happened? Why are you hurt?” Leon asked quietly, wrapping one arm around Lil Mikey to hold him close once more while the other arm did his best to do the same with Donnie.
“A nasty witch kidnapped you guys from another dimension,” Mikey chimed in, bouncing behind Raphael and causing Leon to flinch. “We went in to rescue them, but they ended up getting hurt while we were there. Don’t worry though. My awesome brother and best friend are patching them up just fine.” Don had to give a mildly embarrassed snicker at the compliment, and Leatherhead could only give Mikey a small smile.
Leon’s expression scrunched in a grimace of confusion and borderline offense at that response. Did Mikey think he was four? “Hurt how? What did you do to take care of it?” Leon persisted, brow furrowing in frustration. What kind of report was that? He didn’t even mention what injuries they had at all. He wasn’t a child that needed everything glossed over in such a vague manner.
“Uhhhhh….,” Mikey faltered, having not expected Leon to ask for details. He wasn’t even sure what all of the details were.
Luckily Don took that as his queue to step forward and kneel next to Raphael, concern saturating his form but his hands decidedly held back in his lap. “A government agent that we’ve been monitoring to keep her from achieving inter dimensional travel accidentally triggered a reaction that brought you and your family here from your dimension. It also grabbed our Leo, and they sent Raph a message to try and get him to return what we’ve stolen. We broke into her base since there was no way we were going to let her keep any of us, our brother or yours. But your Mikey got caught in the crossfire, and ended up getting shot in the back of his arm,” he explained quickly, partially to be open with their guest but also to see if his inference about Leon was correct.
With the sucked in hiss, and quick, analytical, and repeated visual examination of Lil Mikey’s bandages that Leon did, Don had his answer and gained a small smile. Leon was gathering medical data for his own mental documentation, and Don was happy to provide. “I had Leatherhead surgically remove the bullet, clean the wound, and stitch him back up. Both Leatherhead and I have done the procedure many times before. Right now he’s probably still numb from local anesthesia, but we’ll be sure to get him on painkillers once that starts to wear off. He and Lil Donnie were also both also exposed to an airborne toxin that breaks down cells when inhaled. We’ve dealt with it personally many times before, so we had an antidote ready that we’ve already given them. It’ll just take some time to heal what was already damaged, but there should be no further degradation.”
Leon was mostly quiet as Don, and sometimes Leatherhead, continued to give a detailed explanation that had Raphael raising a brow at him. It was more of an explanation than Raphael was used to getting, other than when Don was rambling in a distracted daze, and he briefly wondered if it was pointless or not. But when he looked at Leon he had to marvel at how the kid seemed to be understanding everything. The kid was even asking questions like what the toxin was, and what antidote was used and how it was given, what antiseptics were being used and if they used any antibiotic salve on Donnie. The responses Don gave earned satisfied nodding for the most part, and Raphael could only grin in amusement as he shifted his weight back to somewhat pull out of the conversation, the others settling around Master Splinter behind him. Looked like Leon was the medic of the other group. It was an interesting difference, and Raphael was wondering what had caused it. But the conversation was way over Raphael’s head, so he ended up tuning them out for a moment. It wasn’t until Raphael heard Don’s words fill with reluctance to be voiced that Raphael started paying attention again.
“...He hasn’t woken up since we left the base. I’m not sure if that’s normal for him, so it has me concerned…” Don was apparently talking about Donnie, who was still unresponsive to external stimuli. Raphael and the others had to agree with the voiced concern since Lil Mikey had been quick to wake up again once they’d landed, but it almost seemed like Donnie was sedated.
“It’s okay. He does that sometimes.” Leon responded easily. “We started calling them reboot naps.”
“...Reboot naps?” Raphael repeated, raising a brow. Why did that sound like something that would be done with a computer and not a person.
“Yeah. You know how sometimes a computer gets overloaded and starts to overheat and stop functioning properly? And the best thing to do is just turn it off so it can stop running programs and cool down?” Leon explained, sounding like it was one that had been used at least once before. After the others gave somewhat confused nods that they understood so far Leon continued. “That’s kind of what it’s like, I guess. His big brain just works overtime all the time and sometimes everything becomes too much, so he takes a huge nap to recover. He’ll wake up eventually.”
“...Hm… I guess that makes sense,” Don responded, voicing the thought all of them had. The analogy made sense, they just hadn’t dealt with anyone that did this before. Not without serious physical injury to go with it. “How long does he usually sleep for?”
“I dunno. Depends on how stressed out he got before. This time will probably be a longer one though,” Leon responded, shrugging.
Raphael had to furrow his brow in confusion at that combination of comments. He knew Donnie had probably been incredibly stressed out from everything, but none of them had mentioned anything to Leon about what had happened other than the injuries. “How do you know that?” Raphael asked, not able to keep his voice from being incredulous.
“I just do,” Leon huffed, shrinking back slightly in a physical show of avoidance. He was quick to change the subject as well, so Raphael knew his reason was something he didn’t want them to know. “Anyway, where’s his battle shell? I’m surprised he’s not wearing it.”
“Uhhh…” Don faltered, glancing at his brothers. He didn’t remember then having a truck with them. So that probably wasn’t what Leon meant. ”...Battle shell?” Don repeated in question. Luckily Little Mikey spoke up for them from where he was sagging into Leon’s lap, mumbling slightly in his increasing sleepiness. “It’s in the other room. Where we were before,” he explained, forcing back a yawn while trying to not completely fall over. “Told them not to take it off. But he insisted he shouldn’t wear it while sleeping. And needed to check his back.”
That was enough to que Don in on what they were talking about, giving a small gasp and dropping a fist lightly into an open palm. “Oh! The device he was wearing on his back. Yes, it’s back in the infirmary. I haven’t done anything with it other than take it off. Augustine’s employees took samples from Donnie’s back too, so I had to make sure those were clean as-”
“They did what?” Leon suddenly hissed, gaze becoming borderline furious as he latched onto only one thing Don said. “Where is it? Where is that base?” he demanded, moving to get to his feet. Don had only mentioned that Donnie had been cut before, not that he’d been some science lab pet.
“Woah, hey, relax kid. There’s nothing left of the base, your brother made sure of it. He set off the self-destruct as we were leaving,” Raphael spoke quickly, raising his hands to halt Leon’s movement without actually grabbing him. “We’re going to make double sure of course, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Augustine herself ended up with brain damage after how hard fearless over there kicked her in the head,” he added, jerking a thumb over at Leo, whose eyes widened slightly in surprise at being called out so suddenly.
“It wasn’t THAT h-... Okay maybe it was- She had a gun pointed at Donnie. What was I supposed to do?” Leo sputtered, gesturing awkwardly.
Don winced at the mention of the gun, and quickly looked over to Leon to see his reaction while Mikey hissed and clamped his hands over Leo’s mouth. He wasn’t surprised to see the lad shift protectively towards Donnie again, a glower shadowing his gaze. “....Show me what happened…” Leon demanded, his tone not leaving any room for debate. “All of it.”
“Show you?” Leatherhead prompted for further clarification. Did Leon really want to see everything that had happened?
“Are you saying you don’t have a database of every video feed from the government agent you’ve been monitoring?” Leon shot back, missing the real reason Leatherhead was questioning him and thinking they were trying to avoid showing it to them.
Don was stunned into silence for a stretch, surprised Leon had made that connection. While they had only found Augustine’s main base recently, downloading all of her data was one of the first things he and Mom April had done. “Huh…” Don voiced, the only hint to his pleasant surprise. Then again, this was just an alternate dimension version of all of them. Donnie probably had similar habits. “Let me get a tablet,” he requested, getting to his feet to hurry to the main computer. “Also Mikey don’t forget you’re cooking,” he reminded on his way passed.
“My stew!” Mikey squawked, jumping to his feet and leaping over the edge of the upper level to run back to the kitchen.

Casey can remember being this excited maybe once or twice before in his entire life, but that’s it. He doesn’t realize he’s bouncing in his seat until Michelangelo flops over him, arms folded around Casey’s shoulders and chin propped up on top of his head, grin present in the bright tone of his voice.
“We might be hyping this up too much,” the youngest Hamato—second-youngest, now, Casey reminds himself somewhat shyly—says good-naturedly. “It’s just a spar, CJ.”
“I know,” Casey says quickly, clamping his hands on his knees. He feels like a little kid again, being warned that if he can’t sit still he can’t stay in the dojo to watch training. That’s not anywhere near what Mikey said, but he’s not risking it! He refuses to miss this! “But it’s just—I haven’t seen sensei spar with anyone but Commander O’Neil in ages.”
He doesn’t say that Uncle Raph was killed when Casey was so young that he barely got to keep any memories of him. He definitely doesn’t say that when Uncle Tello died, sensei destroyed a string of Krang corps single-handedly, stumbled home half-dead, and then didn’t come out of the silent lab for three days. When he did finally emerge, some intrinsic, important part of him was gone for good.
By then, Master Michelangelo was too brittle for physical combat, pouring all of himself into the mystic arts instead. April was the only one left who was unafraid to drag Master Leonardo onto the mats, to bring some life back into him. And it was fun to watch, but it wasn’t those high-energy spars he could remember being awed by when he was a child, when all four of the turtles were together and the apocalypse seemed like something they might survive after all.
“I bet I whooped his butt, too,” April interjects loudly from the cozy-looking beanbag chair she dragged into the dojo. Leo shoots her a mock-offended look, hand over his heart, the whole nine yards.
He’s wearing a pair of bright pink cordless headphones, and his warm-up stretches have a lot more energetic bopping around than perhaps strictly necessary. Raph is smiling crookedly as he guides Leo through the forms, watching carefully for any sign of lingering tenderness or soreness and finding none. He’s probably as relieved as all the rest of their mismatched little clan that Leo has healed to this point—casts and leg brace finally discarded, energy ratcheted up to eleven.
Across the mat, Donnie is pretending to be buried in his phone, but he’s watching Leo as raptly as Raphael. If he thought for a second that Leo was nursing some hidden-away hurt, he would find a way to divert the match without anyone the wiser. And it would be something needlessly showy and stupid, too—Casey has the sudden vision of a lair-wide blackout. He pats the penlight clipped to his belt to make sure it’s there, just in case.
But Leo is in fine form, and Splinter steps onto the middle of the mat with a judicious air.
“Now I want a clean match, boys,” he orders, arms folded. “No shenanigans!”
“Aw, not even one?” Mikey pipes up.
The Hamato patriarch considers this carefully, then says, “I will allow ONE shenanigan!”
“Alright Michael!” Leo cheers. “Use those favorite son privileges for good!” He barely dodges the half-hearted strike from Splinter’s tail.
Then Raphael is placing his hands on Leo’s shoulders and giving him a friendly jostle, in the manner of ruffling a puppy’s ears to get it all riled up (a life-affirming maneuver that Casey only recently discovered for himself one early morning coffee run with Cass when they crossed paths with a nice lady and her wriggly baby pit bull) and Splinter is stepping back off the mat and Donnie is sliding his phone away.
“Let me know if you need me to go easy on you, little brother,” Donnie says magnanimously.
“You hatched four minutes before me,” Leo replies. His tone suggests this is an argument they’ve had at least one billion times.
“No one likes a sore loser, Nardo.”
April makes a coughing, cackling sound, and then shouts, “Someone get ready to do the heimlich! My man’s gonna choke on that hypocrisy!”
“APRIL, you were adopted and you can be replaced!” Donnie shouts back over everyone’s laughter. Casey feels like he’s sitting in the sun, surrounded on all sides by warmth and light. He was raised on the scraps of a ruined world, the scraps of love and joy that his family had left to offer him. They gave him everything they could, but he knew they were digging into the bottom of the well. Here, those things are a renewable resource. All the good just stretches and stretches and stretches forever.
Master Leonardo was not a bitter person. But he was very rarely a happy one. Uncle Tello and Rapha were gone and Master Michelangelo was aging rapidly before his eyes, three times as quickly as he should have. April and mom and all the faces that Casey saw everyday were weary and worn thin, constantly braced for the next horrible thing to come.
It heals something in Casey’s chest that he didn’t know was hurting to see them like this instead. A festering, years-old wound finally draining, finally given clean air and room to heal. April’s still heckling and Mikey is still draped over Casey, sturdy and boyish and the brightest thing for miles. Raphael is leaning against the wall, grinning, as eager to watch the show as everyone else. Splinter looks unrelentingly fond and also like he’s expecting this to be a trainwreck.
In the second before Splinter calls the beginning of the match, Donnie’s eyes narrow suspiciously and he says, “Wait, what are you listening to?”
A shit-eating grin stretches across Leo’s face, and in lieu of answering out loud, he lifts a hand and dramatically finger-spells K-A-R-M-A.
“Oooooooh,” Mikey and Raph and April all chorus delightedly.
“Oh, goddammit,” Donnie bites out, visibly preparing to fight for his life.
Then Splinter’s hands come down and the twins burst into movement. There are no weapons in their hands, it’s nowhere near as showy as their fight with the Krang had been, but it’s amazing in its own way.
They’re fast, much faster than the masters of Casey’s timeline because they’re so little in comparison, lean and lithe and all gremlin energy. The two of them move like they know each other as well as their own selves, the blocks and blows meeting as if they were choreographed well in advance, and every step is so quick and so clean that Casey can barely follow it. Five minutes in, Leo’s eyes glow white and then Donnie’s do, and Donnie barks out a surprised laugh.
Mikey yells, “No inside jokes that’s not fair!”
“It’s a nice break from that song. I've heard him humming it in the back of my brain all day,” Raph says ruefully, then quickly holds his hands up when Leo’s head whips around in his direction. “No offense! I like it! Just not—not 16 times in a row, big guy.”
Splinter steps in the instant Leo winces, having landed too heavily on his bad leg after a showy flip.
“Alright, silly melons, that’s enough. Match goes to neither of you because you play too much.”
Whatever complaint the twins might have made is entirely forgotten as they turn to face their dad blankly. Donnie says, “I’m sorry, did you just call us silly melons?”
“Melons are green, yes? And stupidly expensive at all times for no reason.” He pulls a paperback book out of the inner fold of his robe and thumbs through it. “Children like nicknames. The experts have said so.”
Looking torn between helpless confusion and hysterical laughter, Raph says, “What are you reading, pops?”
“Melons cost like $8 in Chinatown when they're in season, where the heck have you been shopping?” Mikey interjects loudly, shooting over the back of the couch like spending too much of the grocery fund on overpriced produce is the first and final straw.
“Seriously, Splints, what are you reading?” April asks, trying to get the book from him.
“Silly melons??” Donnie and Leo demand again. Training for the day is entirely derailed, though that might have been Splinter’s ploy in the first place.
Master Leonardo wasn’t a bitter person. Despite the weight of the world on his shoulders and all the losses he carried around in his heart, Casey’s memories of him are good and warm and only bittersweet because of those final moments, and because of how much Casey misses him every day. Still—even if he was careful not to let it show—Casey knows that Master Leonardo didn’t have a lot of opportunities for joy.
That’s the thing that’s taken the most getting used to here, Casey thinks, watching everyone. That’s the difference his family makes. This Leo doesn’t have to reach very far for a reason to smile.
He glances over his shoulder and his smile widens to include Casey, and Casey hurries off the sidelines to join the rest of them.

“Alright guys, we are doing this quick: in and out, got it?” Leonardo said drawing his swords as he nodded to Raph, he knew he would enjoy kicking the door down. “Yeah yeah yeah let’s do this already!” Raph said impatiently. “Remember Dr. Falcon was the one who-“ Donnie was cut off by Raph kicking the door down and Mikey pushed his way past his older brothers. “Booyakashaaa!” He hollered twirling his nunchucks ready for anything.
“Stick to the plan!” Leo seethed as all eyes landed on the doctor who had a large syringe in his hand. A big metal chair sat in the middle of the room, tiny arms were the only thing visible to the turtles, they were strapped down tightly. “He’s got mutangen!” Donnie yelled recognizing the color immediately. Falcon gritted his teeth, “don’t move, or else she gets it.” It only took a second of hesitation on the turtles part for Dr. Falcon to stab the needle into the patients arm, the chair was turned away from the turtles so they couldn’t see who was on the receiving end of such brutal treatment but that was all it took for Raph to lunge forward sais ready to take down the enemy. Leo flanked his red brother, only sidestepping to go on the right side of the room while Raph took the left. Donnie went to the chair, spinning it to face him and he almost dropped his bo. Mikey went to give his older brothers back up but it was pretty unnecessary, the fight was over in five minutes flat, the doctor cowering to the floor in surrender.
“Donnie what’s wrong??” Leo asked, leaving Mikey and Raph to watch over Dr. Falcon to make sure he didn’t try anything else like escaping. “It’s a child…” Donnie said softly watching as the little girl struggled underneath her binds, eyes completely red, her fingers elongated into sharpened claws, and fangs could be seen behind the contraption she wore. The muzzle was muffling her raging screams as she lashed around as much as she could. Needle marks were littered on her arms, and it became obvious she had been under the doctor’s control for a while. Leo’s eyes hardened, turning back to face the doctor with disgust. “What were you doing to her?” He spat as Raph couldn’t help himself leaving Falcon to go see the child, Mikey followed suit his eyes saddening.
“Enhancing her, you’d never understand, she’s special, she was born special.” Raph came back eyes a-blazing “enhancing her?! you keep kids strapped into chairs stickin’ them with ooze? fuckin’-“ Raph’s foot launched forward kicking the doctor in the stomach, “-psychopath!” He finished breathing hard and fast, he was flexing his fingers around his weapons he wanted to hurt this guy bad. Wanted to keep kicking until he heard bones crunch, but held himself back. The doctor was heaving and coughing up blood and Donnie watched as the child reacted to the smell of the copper, her eyes growing a darker red and becoming more ferocious. His hands went forward slowly and the girl started to tremble, “it’s alright, I’m not gonna hurt you,” Donnie said softly as Mikey watched clenching his nunchucks silently. It was a first for him he usually had lots to say.
Donnie pushed back the long black hair that draped over her ears and sure enough he had guessed correctly. She had large protruding ears resembling those of a bat. It all tied in and he drew his hand back, noticing how she had stilled completely not even breathing until his hand was a safe distance away. “She’s a bat mutant, distinguishing features are ears, teeth, eyes, and nails.” The rest of her looked very much human, she was thin, frail, and paler than a ghost. “Donnie is she gonna be okay?” Mikey spoke up beside his genius brother. Donnie didn’t answer because he didn’t know what to say. “We’ve gotta save her!” Mikey said going for the straps trying to release her.
“Wait!” Leo said and Mikey frowned, “We can’t leave her here Leo,” Mikey said shaking his head not letting that even be an option. “I know but we don’t know if she’s dangerous what if she attacks us?” Leo said looking at each of his brothers. “He must have a sedative here,” Donnie said muttering to himself as Dr. Falcon started crawling to the window. “And where do ya think you’re goin’” Raph said smiling sadistically, sais clinking together as he stepped down on the doctor’s ankle to keep him from moving further away. “The cops will be here soon, we gotta be quick Donnie,” Leo said as he looked back at Raph, “just knock him out,” and once Raph had the go ahead he reveled, “with pleasure!” Stowing his weapons away he cracked his knuckles and watched as the doctor cowered. “fuckin’ pussy” he snarled not holding back his punches until the man was slumped.
Donnie got another needle ready and he hated how the girl’s eyes widened in horror. He winced, “I’m sorry I promise this is the last one you’ll ever have to endure, it’s for your safety and ours,” he spoke quickly and held her forearm still to prevent her from thrashing and making it worse. As soon as her eyes rolled back everyone was helping with her binds. “I’ll carry her,” Mikey announced as the sirens could be heard approaching. “Alright let’s move.” Leo said as they cleared out to the rooftops. Raph shook his head, “Splinter’s gonna have our shells,” he muttered under his breath wondering how the rat would take Mikey’s new friend. He didn’t want to leave the girl there either he thought maybe she’d be better in police hands but remembered she was part mutant. They’d cast her out as a freak as soon as she woke up.
“You did what?!” Splinter brought down his cane to the floor in a thump and everyone flinched. “She’s like us Sensei, we couldn’t just leave her!” Leo spoke up for his brothers as Mikey held her close to his plastron. “And I suppose you four are going to care for her?” Splinter narrowed his eyes, wanting it to be clear that they were not some rescue that took in every poor soul. He had himself and his sons to think about, the more people who knew of their secret home/hideout the worse it would be for them. And the easier it would be for Shredder to find them all and take the new family that Splinter was willing to die for. He wouldn’t lose his boys to anyone.
“I’ll take full responsibility!” Mikey quipped up, eyes serious as he met Splinters. “I hope you all know what you’re doing.” He said turning away, going to his room to meditate and think the whole thing over. Hopefully with a clearer head he could talk to his boys without it becoming an argument. All four turtles sighed in relief. Mikey felt you stir in his arms and he squeaked with surprise, “she’s coming to!!!” He didn’t know what to do or what to expect and quickly handed you off to Donnie. Who quickly handed you off to Leo. He held you awkwardly and decided it was best to leave the dojo, “c’mon let’s go to my room,” he said quickly and they all followed suit. He placed you gently on his bed and they all surrounded you, heads coming in close as they watched you blink drowsily awakening.
You blinked once, twice, three times, your eyes were big as they slowly widened, Donnie noted how clear they were now, not red at all. You peered up at all of them silently as they stared down at you, Mikey broke the silence, “Awwww she’s so cute~!” He gushed hands reaching out to scoop you in his arms and you backed away, kicking your feet out underneath you until your back hit the wall. “Quit it Mikey you’re scarin’ her” Raph said annoyed as he reached out and grabbed Mikey’s face pushing his brother back. “Geez Raph!” Mikey groaned as he rubbed his face, frowning, he hadn’t meant to scare you. “It’s okay,” Leo spoke softly to you, “Falcon’s gone, and you’re with us now,”
You had to be at least 7 or 8 years old. But Donnie really couldn’t guess too accurately because your malnutrition played a big factor in this. The doctor hadn’t seemed to be feeding you properly because Donnie didn’t think it was healthy to look that pale or skinny for a human. “Do you know where your parents are?” Leo asked and they all waited silently for your answer. You blinked. “You think she speaks English?” Mikey asked worriedly and Donnie smacked his palm to his face, “she may not be able to speak at all Mikey, or perhaps she was never taught..” Donnie listed some possibilities and Raph grimaced. “Can you understand us or not?” Raph asked and you nodded slowly. Still looking very wary and on guard.
“Do you have parents?” Leo tried again. But you didn’t respond and Leo looked over to Raph. “Uh, do you have a family?” Raph tried and you tilted your head to the side. Mikey would’ve found this adorable if not for the reason of your confusion. Did you not know the word family? Had you been alone in that room with just Falcon for as long as you could remember? Mikey tried to shake the thoughts away, “we’re your family now,” Mikey said smiling at you as he pressed his hand to his plastron and then waved his hand towards his brothers. “I’m Mikey, I’m the raddest,” he introduced himself and nudged Donnie for him to do the same. “Uh I’m Donatello but you can call me Donnie,” he said formally, “I’m Leo,” he spoke with a soft smile, and Raph said gruffly, “Raph,” he pointed a finger to his plastron and then he pointed at you.
They all waited in silence again, your hands came up and touched the muzzle you wore. Donnie’s eyes immediately widened, how could he forget! He wondered if it had hindered you from speaking in the first place. Or worse if it had been causing you pain, “I can get that off for you, but it’ll be easier in my lab..” he muttered the last part as Leo and Raph shot their purple brother a glare. “Alright alright I’ll be back,” he said holding up a finger to you indicating one moment. “Ohhh the metal stuff won’t let you speak?” Mikey said after a few moments catching up with the rest of his brothers. “Obviously numb nuts,” Raph said rolling his eyes.
“Sorrrry, kinda hard to pick that up it’s my first time seeing something like this!” Mikey said putting his hands on his hips. Leo sat down on the floor, hands going up to stretch. They had all been bent over for some time, watching your every move with great interest. You did the same, your eyes flitting around the room quickly before going back to look at the turtle brothers. Raph sat on the edge of the bed, Leo raised an eyebrow at him in question but Raph wasn’t looking at Leo. “I just want you to know, no one’s gonna hurt you here. You’re safe.” You looked into the red turtle’s eyes for a long time, Mikey almost thought it was a staring contest until you nodded, tears forming in your eyes. All the brothers inched forward, “shi-“
“Raph.” Leo cut off his brother from cursing, “I mean shoot.” He grumped as he looked worriedly at the tears that threatened to fall. “Great going Raph!” Mikey said as tears formed in his eyes too unable to help it. He sniffed trying to hold them back. “I didn’t mean to!” Raph said defensively. “It’s okay to cry, you’ve been through a lot,” Leo said, heart hurting that what he said was sadly true. He wished it wasn’t and you nodded again tears falling as you sniffed. Donnie walked back in, arms full of tools and he almost dropped it all when he noticed the crying fest going on. “What happened?!” He said rushing forward. “Raph made her cry!” Mikey wailed as he cried too, and Raph took a deep breath trying to not punch his orange brother in front of you. “All I said was, we ain’t gonna hurt her and that she’s safe!” Raph again said defensively crossing his arms. Donnie breathed out relieved that you weren’t in any physical pain though his heart ached to know you were going through some emotional turmoil. “You ready to get that thing off?” Donnie asked you and you nodded again wiping your tears with the back of your hands.
“Alright just tap me if it hurts,” Donnie said placing all the tools on Leo’s bed as he leaned forward, motioning for you to do the same. You did so hesitantly. With careful hands, Donnie was able to remove the contraption, it had been cruelly made to tighten at any movements, and hindered your speech. You opened and closed your mouth, the feeling so foreign to you. You basically had a bar in your mouth for however long you had been confined with Falcon, it reminded Donnie of a horse bit mouthpiece. It was inhumane. Mikey hadn’t been able to watch for long and offered to go get pizza. Which left three brothers, Donnie was surprised Raph hadn’t wandered off as well, but he stayed sitting next to you on the bed while Leo watched from the floor. “How do you feel now?” Donnie asked picking up his tools to go return to the lab, “b-better,” a soft whisper of a voice could be heard and all the turtles stilled. “I’ll be back,” Donnie said chewing on the inside of his cheek as he motioned his head to the tools in his arm.
“So do ya have a name?” Raph asked and Leo stood from the floor, going to sit on your other side. You shook your head. “Well you’re in luck, Mikey’s the best when it comes to names,” Leo spoke up smiling to himself as Raph chuckled. You were looking back and forth between the red and blue turtle. “R-red” you pointed to Raph and then you turned, “B-blue” you said pointing this time at Leo. “Close enough,” Raph grinned and clenched his hands to keep from ruffling your hair. “Do you have a favorite color?” Leo asked and he watched as you slowly crawled out of his bed, legs dangling off the edge before you pushed off. They watched as you landed shakily, both holding themselves back from going forward to help. No one wanted to scare you.
“Black,” it was your first word you hadn’t tumbled with. As you touched your hair, it was the color of the night sky, and long going down your back curling towards the ends. “Not pink?” Leo teased and you promptly shook your head. Your stomach growled and this had both brothers up and moving, you immediately moved backwards quickly, reacting to their movements. They moved slower, “c’mon Mikey’s got pizza,” Raph said nodding his head to the doorway as Leo went first leading the way. You followed and Raph walked leisurely behind you, keeping his distance. You hardly came up to his hip! He still couldn’t believe how young you were and he tried to push the thought away, it only made him angry and anger made him violent.
He’d rather not have an episode while you were here. Hopefully they’d find your parents soon. Mikey entered the abandoned subway, pizza boxes in hand. “Who’s hungry?!” He hollered as Donnie entered the room from his lab. You raised your hand in response, and Donnie held back a laugh. Everything you did was adorable! “Alrightttt” Mikey said beaming at you as he carried the pizzas to the kitchen table. They all waited for you to climb into a seat first before they all rushed to sit in the chairs next to you. Mikey and Donnie winning out this time. “I’ve got pepperoni and classic cheese!” Mikey said grabbing you a slice of each.
The smell of bread and cheese wafted in your face and you licked your lips hungrily. But as you took a bite and the brothers watched as your eyes turned red and fingernails elongated, fangs coming out to pierce the pizza. Their mouths dropped open. “I don’t think she’s gonna be satisfied with pizza,” Donnie said and it was as if a switch had flipped. With your mouth piece off and your hunger at the forefront of your mind you stood on your chair. “Kid, sit back down,” Raph warned and you hissed and glared at him, your eyes painfully red now. Donnie pushed his chair out, “Don’t let them take off,” he said as he went to the cabinets and pantries as he reminded himself what exactly did bats eat other than blood and bugs.
Your fangs were abnormally long, jutting out past your mouth and digging into your lower lip. You whimpered as your stomach grumbled, and your eyes started darting towards the kitchen door. Leonardo was moving before you could have a second thought. “Sorry, can’t let you escape that easy,” he was in front of the kitchen door, blocking it with his body. You stomped your foot into the chair and it creaked under the force. “Temper temper,” Raph couldn’t help himself, using the words that were usually thrown in his face. “Everyone just calm down,” Mikey said hands going up, “man I can’t believe you don’t like pizza!” he frowned.
You had enough, jumping down and running to Leo, his eyes widened not wanting to touch you but he couldn’t exactly let you get past him. His hands went out to scoop you but you ducked and stomped your foot down again this time on Leo’s toes. He howled in pain immediately reacting and leaving an opening for you to dart past him. “Raph!” Leo called out wondering why he was the only one stopping you as Mikey ditched his pizza and Raph clambered up quickly chasing after you. Donnie entered the room holding up an apple, “fruit! Bats eat fruit!” He said triumphantly only to see Leo hopping on one foot holding onto his toes the kitchen table empty. “Great.” Donnie said sarcastically as Leo shot him a glare and Donnie ran for the door.
“Y/n!” Mikey called out as you jumped over one of the subway turnpikes. You hesitated, and that was all Donnie needed for him to come into view and wave the apple frantically. Your mouth drooled as you ran back to them, Donnie bent down letting you swipe the fruit from his hand as you greedily sank your fangs into the apple. “Yay! Food accomplished!” Mikey cheered as everyone waited for you to finish, by the time you were done the apple was shriveled to its core. Your eyes faded back to normal clear whites, and your fangs weren’t as long anymore either. You looked at Donnie shyly, and he knew what that look meant, “we’ve got more if you’re still hungry,” he smiled and you nodded quickly. Going back into the kitchen holding onto the core. “So cool!” Mikey gushed as he followed you and Donnie, Raph behind everyone else.
When you pushed the door open and noticed Leo back in his chair you ran forward. Cheeks dusting with embarrassment, as you patted his knee in apology. At that Leo couldn’t help himself, he ruffled your hair without a second thought, “all’s forgiven hungry-pants,” Leo teased. Then you followed Donnie as he led you to the pantry where he found two more apples. You gave him the apple core in favor of the new apples. He threw it away for you and watched as you walked back to your chair. It seemed you weren’t as famished to quickly drain those two.
Crisis averted everyone ate, making small talk, trying to get you to speak every now and again but let it go when you only answered with a nod or a shake of your head. “So Y/n,” Mikey started, pizzas devoured and your apples diminished to cores. “You named her already??” Leo said surprised and Raph nodded, “Yeah while you were bouncing around in here,” Leo’s mouth went into a straight line as you covered your eyes in embarrassment. “Can’t wait to see your reaction when your toes get crushed,” Leo muttered and Raph’s eyebrows went up, “oh I’ll tell you what’s gonna happen, ain’t gonna be a big pansy about it that’s for sure!”
“Oh really?” Leo said and Raph responded immediately “Really.” They were both having a stare off when Mikey interrupted, “Just ignore them Y/n that’s what I do,” he whispered to you as you peeked at the orange brother through your fingers. “Anyways, it’s getting late, I was wondering where you wanted to sleep?” He asked and that quickly got everyone’s attention. It was like Mikey had asked who was your favorite turtle. You shrugged and Mikey said it was high time for a lair tour. All brothers got up talking at once trying to show you their rooms first, all except for Leo. He went to crouch beside you, “wanna just sleep in the living room? We can make a pillow fort or pile up the bean bags,” he whispered into your ear. He hadn’t needed to get that close, in fact he could’ve whispered from across the table and you would’ve heard him but your eyes sparkled at his idea.
You still let each brother drag you around the lair, showing off their respective rooms and why theirs were better than the others. When it came time to choose and the group was back in the living room you pointed straight down to your feet. “Here?” Raph said disappointed as you nodded. He groaned but left to get his pillows and blankets. You flashed Leo a smile as he smiled too going do the same. All the brothers did and it was the first time they had left you alone. And at that same moment Splinter came entering the room quietly, but you heard him immediately and your breathing quickened, scared of the newcomer. He was taller than the turtles. “Red!” You wailed and Raph had been on his way back when he dashed forward, worrying why you sounded so frightened. “What’s the matt-,”
Splinter was watching you quietly, thinking as he looked down at what you wore. It seemed his sons hadn’t given you a change of clothes yet. You wore a patients gown, which couldn’t be warm he noted. “Raphael,” Splinter spoke as the turtle came to your side and your hand reached up to hold onto one of his fingers tightly. “Yes Sensei?” Raph wasn’t worried now that he knew why you had called for him, but his heart was still racing, the fear in your voice, he hadn’t been expecting it. “Get her into new clothes before you all go to sleep,” and his head bowed to you slightly as he turned to leave. Raph’s eyes went down to your clothes, it was like he hadn’t noticed the tattered gown until now. He cursed under his breath, not knowing you could hear what he said quite clearly.
“Hmm, we’ll have to go get you something better tomorrow but do you wanna wear one of my shirts for now?” He asked wiggling his finger that was still in your grip, you were still staring after Master Splinter in wonder, “that’s our dad,” Raph noted as you looked up at him. “Yeah he’s a rat not a turtle,” he said scratching his chin with his free hand. You tugged on his finger and he took that as a yes to his earlier question. He led you to his room again, letting you put on his shirt as he stood outside of his room, shell leaning against the doorway as he watched Mikey emerge from his room. “No fair!!” Mikey gasped as he saw you come out of Raph’s room dressed in a big red t-shirt that basically looked like another gown on you.
Your patient gown in your hands, you didn’t know what to do with it. Raph held out his hand, “want me to chunk it?” He asked and you nodded, placing the fabric in his hands. Everyone had their pillows and blankets in the middle of the living room, Leo had the tv on playing an episode of Space Heroes. “Not this again!” Raph groaned as Donnie helped you and Mikey build the pillow fort. “It’s the structure that’s the most important part, without that the foundation will just~” Donnie droned on and you peered over at Mikey who was making silly faces. You giggled and the sound rang out to all the turtles ears. They all looked at one another smiling, “that was all me bros,” Mikey said proudly. With the fort finished and large enough for everyone to fit in, it was one big slumber party. “Goodnight Y/n,” Mikey said happily and everyone else followed suit wishing you a goodnight and to have good dreams. “night night,” you yawned quietly turning underneath the blankets getting comfortable. “We totally have a little sister!” Mikey whispered excitedly once your breathing had deepened. Donnie rolled over, “she might have parents Mikey,” he didn’t want to be the bearer of bad news but he knew Leo was thinking the same thing. “Well I think she’d like it here.” Mikey whispered again this time quieter and more unsure of himself. “Get some sleep,” Raph mumbled. “We’ll talk to Y/n about it tomorrow,” Leo said softly, trying to reassure his younger brother. It got quiet and Leo was the last to fall asleep, looking at all his brothers under a pillow fort with you in the center. It had a been a while since they had last done something like this. He smiled, silently hoping for the same thing Mikey was wishing for, he knew all his brothers probably felt the same way after today. You were a part of their family, even if you did have folks waiting for you.

Summary: Reader is 32 weeks pregnant. Leo and Raph's story takes place at Vern's party while Donnie and Mikey's story takes place in the lair. I was out of ideas.
(l/s/o) - leo's s/o
(r/s/o) - raph's s/o
(d/s/o) - donnie's s/o
(m/s/o) - mikey's s/o
Leonardo:
Tumblr media
2 drunk guys got too careless and made a mess on Vern's floor. Everyone was too drunk to care except you who only watched from the living room where the atmosphere was quieter and less people were hanging out. Because you were pregnant, you couldn't stand too long so April led you to the living room.
Not seeing Leo around, you stood up to grab yourself a drink when you didn't realize someone dropped their cake on the floor and you slipped on it, dropping on your back as everyone gasped to look at you. Women nearby you immediately reacted when they saw your big belly and tried to help you but your eyes closed on its own when you felt pain at the back of your head.
Leo was livid. At the people who made you fall and at himself; he should've stayed behind with you. He only left for a while to grab his and your drink until he heard multiple gasps. When he saw you on the floor, all he saw was red. Like, Raph's bandana kind of red.
See, your pregnancy was unique; it was yours and Leo's creation so a normal hospital wouldn't know how to treat a possible mutant-human baby so here you are being treated by doctors who can. The doctor finally did their tests and explained that there was no problem with your baby and it was healthy. No damage to you either so it was a relief, however, you were asked to stay on bed rest for another 8 weeks.
At the lair, Leo was more than willing to be your 'maid' for the next eight weeks. Splinter was also there to land you a helping hand but you tried to deny his help because he was an old rat.
"No, I have a young soul." He once said with a smug look, 'combing' his long beard.
3 weeks later and you felt so restless it was getting boring. But it was worth it when everytime he comes back from patrol, he'd lay down in bed with you and put his head on your stomach which your baby is always kicking.
"Hi, baby." Leo softly said on your stomach. "Don't give your mama a hard time, okay? She's on bed rest and we can't wait to see you soon." He placed a kiss on your stomach to your lips. "You're a strong woman, y/n. I love you so much. I'm so glad you're mine and carrying our child."
Raphael:
Tumblr media
It was a stupid argument, really.
You and Raph had been arguing from the lair to Vern's party house about you not going to the party; Raph wants you at the lair where it's risk free for you and the baby. You, however, are stubborn and want to get out.
You were stuck at the lair for 2 months without going topside because of your special doctor's orders. It drove you insane being stuck at the lair, it didn't help when Mikey has his eyes on you 24/7 and making sure you have all the things you needed.
The argument made you stressed and you lose consciousness just an hour after you and the turtles arrived Vern's place.
Raph was with you the entire time you were being checked - kneeled down beside you holding your fragile hands in his, worried eyes watching your closed ones waiting for small movements from you.
"y/n darling.. please wake up." He stroked your hair gently. He was trying not to panic and cry when everyone's in the room but his sniffing betrayed him when he felt a hand on his shell.
"Pull yourself together, Raph." Leo said.
"You need to be strong for her." (l/s/o) assured, her hand rubbed Raph's shoulder, her other hand on her also pregnant stomach. "She can't be stressed during pregnancy. She'll risk hers and baby's life." She explained.
"She's stressed, alright," The doctor pulled away. "Her heartbeat's escalating so her blood pressure is high. Your baby is fine but your partner must be on bed rest for the next 8 weeks. She can't move unless for bathroom breaks. Her bath must be 10 minutes, not more than that."
After you woke up, it saddens you that you're on bed rest until your due date and Raph was assisting you all the way. Unfortunately, all of the turtles' s/o are also on bed rest like you are and now gathering in the baby room.
"I hate bed rest." (d/s/o) grumbled while looking at her iPad. "It doesn't help Donnie unsubscribe all the thriller movies, afraid my blood pressure goes up."
"Being pregnant sucks." (m/s/o) pouted. She was an active roller skater and since she got pregnant, her activities halted. Including cooking, which was hers and Mikey's favourite thing to do.
"Next mating season, we girls are going on a holiday. How does Malaysia sound?"
"Let's go/Agreed/Bet!"
Donatello:
Tumblr media
You're the type to must do everything in the lair, even at 32 weeks.
(m/s/o) dropped her porridge on the floor after her baby kicked her and because she couldn't bend down, you think it would be nothing for you but boy you were wrong.
After cleaning up, you clutched your stomach in pain forming cold sweats leaning on the kitchen sink for support. (m/s/o) being the worrier and loud gal, she started pacing back and forth not knowing what to do. Her boyfriend wasn't even around!
"Omg omg omg what do I do? Mikey isn't around! Uhh I should call Don- crap! He's at patrol with Leo!" (m/s/o) was already panicky and with how she's behaving, she might end up giving birth early.
You watched her impassively. Is she for real right now?
"At this point, you're the one giving birth today." You tittered.
Finally after (m/s/o) calmed down, she contacted Donnie. "H-Hey Donatello! Um, something happen--"
"What's wrong, (m/s/o)??"
After she explained what happened, Donnie and Leo ran back to the lair, finding you sitting at the taller stool by the kitchen island. He held you in case you're about to fall.
"I thought you're on bed rest, y/n! What are you doing up?" He raised his voice a bit with distress, eyes narrowed at you. You avoided eye contact knowing he'll just get angry whatever reason you give him. "y/n... if you fell and I wasn't even around, then what do I do? I'm not a practiced doctor."
"I-I'm sorry." Your hormones got to you and cried. Donnie's reaction changed and he relaxed his face.
"No no I'm sorry," he pulled you into an embrace and put his chin on your head. "I'm just worried about you.. carrying our mutant-human baby in your stomach. I'm afraid of future complications and your time to give birth. I looked forward to the day we get to be family and when you announced your pregnancy, I got scared." He pulled away to look at you, his fingers stroking your hair. "I'm scared of what's going to happen to you. I don't want to lose you, y/n. I may never find love again if I lose you."
"Aww, Donnie." You lose your shit again and sobbed.
This time, Donnie joined the tear festival.
Michelangelo:
Tumblr media
You're restless, that's all.
As active as your happy turtle boyfriend. You've been eyeing your roller blades that's collecting dusts for 7 and a half months now and no one was wearing it.
"I want to roller skate again." You pouted to yourself, (r/s/o) sitting beside you joining the bed rest as well.
"y/n, if you so much as getting up from this bed-- God, you're stubborn." (r/s/o) rolled her eyes when you waddle to your skates. The attempt to getting your skates failed so you turn to (r/s/o) who shakes her head. "Uh uh. I'm not helping you, y/n. If Mikey sees you wearing it for the fun of it, he'll burn it."
"B-But--"
"No buts! Now get back to bed or so help me..." (r/s/o) threatened and that made you weak and small.
"O-Okay..." You looked down, tears dropping to the floor and waddled back to bed. Your body shook as you let out small whimpers and (r/s/o) sighed.
"Do you want me to call Mikey for you?" You nodded meekly. "Okay but please stop crying. He'll get mad at me for making you cry."
The turtles returned home and went to visit their s/o's after removing their gears. Both Raph and Mikey walked into the room where you and (r/s/o) were resting.
"How are you feeling, (r/s/o)?" Raph asked his s/o.
"I'm great but I sort of made y/n cry for scolding her. She was about to use her roller blades."
"You WHAT?" Mikey turned to you wide eyed. "Angelcakes, that was dangerous! You're carrying a baby in you! What if you fall?" It was the first time you see him panic and a bit angry.
"I'm s-sorry. I want to skate so bad but I'm so big and round I can't see my feet anymore."
"You'll be able to skate soon and we can teach our baby when they're older! Come on, smile for me." Mikey hold your cheeks with both hands, his baby blue eyes gazed into yours. "You're the most beautiful when you smile."
You shot your smile and he cuddled you, hand rubbing your back.
Bonus:
"How come you never sweet talk like that with me, Red?" (r/s/o) asked straight faced.
"Woman, you gave me a heart attack when you fainted from high blood pressure. I have to live with that as long as I live." Raph booped her nose.

Great Celina!! I have came far and wide to ask you ... HCs/theories on Yandere big mama BUT! He was raised by big mama instead of splints ~ 👀 love to see what you come up with
Tumblr media
Hello traveler from afar! I shall heed your request!
Tw: Leo tries to eat bugs, betrayal, manipulation, murder and kidnapping at the yandere part (it's towards the bottom)
Theory on Leo if Big Mama was his Parent
(Now before we actually begin I assume you’re talking about Leo because I did briefly touch on a former post about it but if you were talking about all 4 I apologize.)
The only possible way I can see Leo being even in Big Mama's clutches in the first place is if Lou Jitsu dropped him on accident while trying to escape Draxum's lab. It can be both in the yokai or human world but either way, bro got left behind.
Big Mama finds a poor turtle baby and decides to take him home since there was no one to keep her company after Lou went dashy-dash on her. And guess what, she is a surprisingly great mom.
Spiders are known to just straight up leave their babies as soon as they are born, but as she is a yokai, not an animal, so she has empathy for infant Leo. She would do the things that society would consider a "loving mother". Although some of her spider behaviour does change a few things: she feeds him bugs, nips him lightly if she's in her spider form, and carries him around in her silk threads.
Oh, and he picks up her accent lmao.
By the time he's a child/pre-teen stage, he is 100% brat. He'll mess up his mummy's hotel decorations, steals food from the chefs, and do anything a child can think of. But there's one thing that's the most important in this stage, his development of manipulation. Not only is he the son of the owner of Grand Nexus Hotel, but he is also a child. And children can get away with anything if they use the right words.
Whenever he causes mischief and someone tries to report him on it, he'll do puppy eyes with a hint of sadness in his voice, and before you know it, he deceives the staff member. This lets him get away a few times until Big Mama notices his talent with words.
She starts giving him little tasks such as "Try to get that dealer to give you that fruit for free," or "Have that little boy let you play with his toys". This slowly starts turning gears in Leo's head and by the time he's a teen he helps his mummy out in "assisting" customers.
So the day when the turtles meet Big Mama, imagine their surprise when they see another turtle dressed in fine formal wear. The other 3 boys always heard stories from Splinter about how they had a missing brother that has red marks on his face. There was no possibility that he isn't their brother.
As expected, Mikey runs up to him in a big hug, which is lightly shrugged off by Leo as he thinks Mikey is just another customer. He's bombarded with questions from Donnie and Mikey but he waves his hand and walks off, stating he needs to attend to his job.
Skip forward to the time Big Mama reveals her yokai form and the two groups start fighting. Midway through the battle, Leo attacks one of them, most likely Donnie as he is the easiest to target. Donnie feels betrayed and painstakingly says 'brother' but Leo only laughs and retorts he's not their brother.
So now he's their eternal enemy.
Ok now for some Yandere Hcs because that's my job now.
He's not too different when compared to his normal counterpart but there are a few noticeable changes in his personality.
He tends to do some more indirect actions such as having hitmen, or throwing people in the Battle Nexus whenever there's a rival. If he's really feeling murderous though, he'll fight them right in the arena.
He doesn't have an "I feel useless" problem like normal Leo either. Instead, he has a more possessive and "what would you do without me" type of thing.
If he is to kidnap MC, they're going to be trapped in the Hotel as that is where he is often times and the security guards/cameras are everywhere (the staff does not want to upset Big Mama's son, he has a horrible temper if things don't go as planned).
If I were to summarize everything, he's a mix of normal Leo and Donnie.
——————————————————
Something tells me he would try to crawl around like a spider as a kid.
- Celina

No because Casey who's grown up with an abusive father figure hearing how Splinter talks to Leo.
About how it's his destiny, how he has to succeed and it doesnt matter who or what he has to sacrifice.
He would lose the rat fear so quickly and march up to him like what the hell man?!
I need Casey having beef with Splinter like who says that to that child?!
Strides up to him enraged.
Everyone is like... What is happening...
"What kind of father are you?! No wonder Leo's so upright when he's got you breathing down his neck. He's hurt, aren't you gonna ask how he is, or is your stupid mission more important than that."
"This matter does not concern you, Casey Jones." Says Splinter.
If anything this makes Casey angrier.
"If it involves my friend than it damn well does. I may not be a ninja, but I won't stand by and let you hurt him."
"I would never hurt my son."
Casey scoffs.
"Just cos your not beating him doesn't mean you ain't hurting him..." He catches Splinter looking at a scared Leo and growls.
"Hey! Don't look at him, look at me. Because I'll be the last thing you ever see if you keep that up."
"Are you threathing me, Casey Jones?"
"Nah a threat means it's all empty words. What im doing is promising you."
"Casey...what's going on?" Asks Leo, standing there with the rest so confused...and on edge.
Casey visibly softens, shoving his hands in his pockets and adopting a calmer more relaxed stance.
He doesn't wanna scare em.
"... Listen man, April says your good people, and I believe her. Red's good people, those kinda people are drawn to each other."
Casey looks at Splinter, unable to keep the snarl out of his voice "but so are us bad people. I go out and bust heads and you talk to your son like he's heading off to fight a war you'll know he'll lose."
"You know nothing of this."
"Your right, I don't. But that look you give him... Hell the look you give Raph when he's mad and you know he can't control it... Reminds me of my old man..."
Casey takes a deep breathe, admiring that to himself internally was hard enough. Saying it outloud was something else.
"And anyone who reminds me of him, is worse than the Shredder himself."
"Dont you dare.. Compare me to him!"
"Why, your both ninja, your using your own kids to fight a war you started between you. You could go stop this whole thing but you won't, instead you put decades of trauma onto your s-ugh!"
He could barely get his words out as he was picked up and slammed into the wall behind him.
"Sensei!"
"Sensei! Father, put him down! Please!"
Splinter looked at Casey with a look Casey couldn't place before dropping him and leaving to his chambers.
Instantly the others jump out of hiding and rush to his side.
"Casey are you okay?! Why would you... Why would you do that?" Said Leo.
"Had to bs said, and I meant that man. Every word." Says Casey with a small smile.
"Thanks.. But you didn't say you were okay?" Says Leo, going into big brother mode.
"Oh this? Nah I'm good, luckily he didn't get my old man's strength." He doesn't see the way they all frown at that.
How Mikey is curled into his side and holding him as much as clinging to him.
How Raph was standing at his side, looking at him like if he looked away he'd vanish.
"... I see well I'm still looking over you anyway. Can't have any more hits to that head of yours." Says Donnie, trying to lighten the mood but still so concerned.
"Heh, sure thing Doc" Casey allows it, for once. If only to calm Donnie's nerves.
"... Casey..."
"Yeah Leo?"
It's unnerving to see Leo look so small... Look his age.
God they were all just kids weren't they?
"I... Your good people too."
Casey didn't know what to say to that. He'd never thought of himself as good, crazy, werid, likely to become the next Arnold Jones...
He almost retorted... But something bout the way Leo looked at him made Casey want to believe him.
"If you say so."
"I do"
Damnit April was right... These weridos were growing on him.

ROTTMNT Compensate Compromise and Codependency (Childhood Friends AU)
Can I ask about this one for the wip game? Anything detail you wanna share
Oh surely, of course you can! This is one of the ones that is currently shelved as one I don't plan on writing, but because of that I can share everything I got written for her!
I will say this WIP is a bit of a vent piece and touches on themes of abusive and unhealthy coping mechanisms such as codependent relationships.
Please enjoy the outline for Compensate, Compromise, and Codependency a ROTTNMT!Donnie x Reader Childhood Friends AU:
This is an unedited outline
As a child reader had an overactive imagination, but not an imaginary friend. It easy to escape into imagined scenarios, but more difficult to try to conjure a ‘person’ when the only people you know in your life are abusive. Forced to mature fast, even at 6 reader is already making their own breakfast and getting themselves ready for school. Not even knowing the word, reader knows that ‘logistically’ there’s no way they can run away. They’re a kid with no where else to go. That doesn’t mean that sometimes, when their mom is passed out that they don’t sneak out onto the roof, fire escape, or back alley adjoining the house just to get away for awhile. The trips are tedious, there’s always a fear that mom will wake up and her wrath will be swift. They’re also necessary and a great avenue to play out more day dreams.
One day out in the alley, reader is hiding behind a dumpster from ‘enemy fire’ when a manhole cover moves. Outgoing (and maybe a little swayed by Men in Black), reader finds a young Donatello who has similarly ‘run away.’ At first the two dance around each other. Wary as hell, but reader breaks their ‘spy’ character first when they notice Donnie’s red rimmed eyes. Donnie is reasonable like them but in a totally different way. Instead of being choked, he’s drowning in his intellect. He didn’t run away, he needed to get away; from his brothers overbearing nature and lack of understanding. He’s desperate for attention from a who can’t give it as he barely has enough time to take care of four superpowered children, let alone deal with the fallout grief of his own collapsed life.
Reader sees a comrade, someone who can finally understand (and maybe just a little bit of an imaginary friend because how on Earth could a turtle person be real?) The two find solace in each other that day and agree to meet again. Over the years the friendship grows along with your age and issues. You find better ways to get ahold of each other, warnings are put in place when things are particularly bad, and you both make the time for each other when it need be. Donnie builds a clubhouse on the roof out of an old aviary and the birds still come. You like the birds, they have a freedom you’ll never have. You crave normalcy, he craves validation. You’re both broken in a way that suits on another. Rules are decided if this is going to benefit you both. You can rant and rave, but it stops at that. You’re there to comfort each other and not drag those things into the peaceful safehaven that was built. The clubhouse is for comfort only.
He, however, is also a ninja. He’s a vigilante at night and while high school is suffocating you, he’s literally saving lives. Shredder. Krang. Horrors you can’t understand. Life goes on and gets worse for both of you in different ways. At least you have each other. Except, he has more. He has his family and almost losing them is a sobering moment. You don’t. A resentment forms, but you don’t voice it because you still desperately need him.
Your life gets worse. Your almost aged out of your house and you have nowhere to go. You have friends, but their lives are in similar shambles to yours. You scrounge by on part-time jobs, but it’s not enough to move out on your own. Not with the city being repaired. There’s barely enough room for those who’s homes weren’t destroyed.
Donnie is getting better and better and the dynamic shifts. He’s not as broken as you. Instead of taking solace in each other, you now see yourself as a leech. He’s the one good thing in your life and your siphoning off of him. Then it happens. They’ve been known since the Krang incident and slowly, with great push back, mutants and yokai are becoming commonplace. During a news broadcast of a fight, you see Donnie get injured. It’s bad. You don’t know what to do. You can’t imagine life without him. So you go, break the unbroken rule of not entering one another homes and you descend into the sewers. He’s gone on about the new lair and you’ve pieced together where to go. You come upon chaos. His family is dealing with the injuries and now they have a human stumbling into their lair. They’ve been raided before, this isn’t somewhere you’re supposed to know about. You aren’t someone they know and Donnie can’t confirm anything for you. Not only are you sent away, but you realize he’s never mentioned you. Sure you were each other’s best kept secret, but hadn’t the family opened up about everything? Even your mom knew your mysterious little friend.
As he heals you’re left to think things out. How long can you keep him caged in the clubhouse? Coming to you as you keep calling long after he’s stopped needing the same. You decide you can’t. He deserves more than someone who only knows how to share their misery. You don’t tell him. You’re just going to open the door. You break down the club house and block his number.
Except he shows up. After weeks of not seeing him, he appears outside your apartment when you’re on your way to work. He doesn’t address anything and acts like everything is normal. He’s never done this before. You don’t know how to react except that growing bud of resentment is now a writhing vine that strangles your heart. It ends up bursting free and you unload on him. He can go be happy now. He has people. He doesn’t need to keep taking care of you. You weren’t important enough anyway. You were a secret that he can let go in a lifetime he has long grown up from. He takes in your points quietly which is a rarity for him. You still have a shift regardless of how many tears you’ve shed or how blotchy your face is. He leaves you there, but takes your hand in parting. You want to throw it down, but don’t. He simply squeezes your hand and leaves you to work. Cue him now always there. You never told him your schedule but he keeps showing you.
You try everything. You give him the cold shoulder. You scream at him. You say cruel things you never meant. Anything to drive him away, but he doesn’t. He’s quiet. He’s there. He’s present. You also never ask/tell him too. You can’t. You still desperately need him.
WIP the ending, but essentially it should go big breakdown scene where you realize that only you can pull yourself out of what’s happening. Donnie isn’t the solution and that’s why he never helped. He just made himself as available as possible to show his commitment in how you aren’t alone. You can start anew together with a real and healthy relationship that isn’t built on sorrow, but instead wanting to find joy in one another.
✨ the end ✨

idk if u do requests
or write
but donatello as a father with a very motherly s/o (they have a child) and donnies reactions to her taking her first steps first word etc
Donatello x motherly! s/o
Pairing: Female!Reader x Donatello
Point of View: Third Person
Warnings: Romance and fluff
Word Count: 806
Summary: Donnie and his wife get to experience their child’s first words
Authors note: (C/N) is child’s name, rated fluff. Also, I’m sorry this took so long! It’s finally here @jaenisamusculargurl
Have an early New Years fic from me everyone!
Donatello was blessed to have a loving wife such as (Y/N). He was even more blessed when after a year and a half into their marriage, he was given a (son/daughter).
(Y/N) and Don had named their child (C/N) and from there, the rest was history. Donnie could not get enough of the little bundle he and (Y/N) had created. He often could be seen showing picture books to his son/daughter and talking in a quiet voice. (Y/N) could only smile, Don’s brothers sharing the joy.
The boys volunteered often when (Y/N) and Donatello needed a small break. Mikey would bring out his hot rod set from when he was little or bring out child safe craft materials to play with his niece/nephew. Raph was often seen with the child strapped to his chest when he was knitting, every once in a while you can hear him correcting the child, telling them not to touch the yarn. Leo looked like a goof ball when meditating with the baby, but the family could see a difference in his behavior anytime he meditates with (C/N).
Today (Y/N) had to work, so she left the babe with Don. He didn’t mind, he could work on a few projects that weren’t all demanding, and could bring the babe to his brothers and his father if he needed to deal with a pressing issue.
Don decided to an easy task and work on some coding and repairing a few objects around the lair. He had (C/N) wrapped on the front of his plastron while he typed away. Every once in a while he’d adjust them, change their diaper when needed, and give them their bottle while he tinkered away in his lab. They slept most of the day while he worked, which surprised Don a little, but he wasn’t ungrateful for the small break from the crying.
He'd check the clock every few hours, excited that his wife was gonna come home soon. Don was working on some coding when he felt his (son/daughter) stir. He paused his work, leaning back in his chair, patting (C/N)’s back gently. The babe looked up at (his/her) father, (E/C) eyes staring back into Donnie’s hazel ones.
(C/N) smiled and made some gurgling sounds, causing Donatello’s chest to flutter. He undid the the wrap and held them close, nuzzling his snout against his (son/daughter)’s nose, causing the baby to squeal in delight. Donnie smiled and churred up a storm.
While this was happening, Don didn’t notice that his wife had walked into the lair, having gotten of work early. She smiled when she saw her husband nuzzling their (son/daughter) and quietly walked up to the two. The babe’s head was on Donnie’s shoulder when (he/she) spotted their mom.
(C/N) squealed out “mama!” Causing (Y/N) to stop in surprise. Donnie quickly spun around and shot (Y/N) a startled look. Shocked from experiencing (C/N)’s first word and from seeing his wife arrive home sooner than anticipated.
Don and (Y/N) stared at each other before looking back at the babe in Don’s arms. (Y/N) finally walked up to her family before placing a gentle hand on his shoulder, beaming at their (son/daughter).
“(He/She) said their first word…” Donnie whispered. (Y/N) gave him a side-hug, and a lingering cheek kiss before gently taking the babe from from Donnie’s arms. She smiled at the child her and Donatello created, her heart feeling warm as she listened to (C/N)’s gurgling.
“Now we know who’s the favorite.” (Y/N) playfully winked at her husband, who only snorted, but gave a warm smile in return.
“I don’t blame them, you’re my favorite too.” Don gently picked up (Y/N), babe in her arms, and placed them in his lap, enveloping them in a family hug. They stayed like this for some time, the babe gently cooing in (Y/N)’s arms, and Donnie quietly churred in return.
In the background outside of Donatello’s lab, Mikey, Raph, and Leo smiled, taking photos of their brother’s little family. Mikey nearly exploded with joy when he heard his (niece/nephew) cry out their first word. Raph shed a proud tear (he still claims it was the dust in the lair), and Leo patted his shell. Mikey was texting April the news and urged her to come down to the lair. After some time, the brothers eventually swarmed the couple and the babe.
Master Splinter was meditating in the dojo when he heard his (grandson/granddaughter) squeal out their first word. He smiled, love and pride swelling in his chest. He returned to his meditation, feeling more at peace than he did before.

Today feels like a 12 April and Rise April kind of day so let's do our favorite ladies with 12 Turtle Tot Leo-
When 12 April first sees what happened to her friend she quite literally has to fight herself back from cooing at the toddler. 12 April had only ever seen photos of the boys when they were small due to 12 Splinter back when he was still around but seeing the real deal instead of an old photo is a whole different ballgame. 12 April's literally in love with this baby as soon as she sees his big dark blue eyes and chubby little cheeks. It gets even worse when she sees him toddle around on his little legs and hears his babyish giggles of glee. 12 April carries him around on her hip, cooing softly to him and giving him little nose kisses earning his giggles each and every time.
Rise April on the other hand as soon as she sees 12 Leo, is instantly fawning over him, rubbing his adorable face and actually cooing at the small turtle, while also looking Rise Donnie dead in the eye and asking him what he'd done, to which her little brother and best friend scoffs at her in an offended way and tells her he had nothing to do with this predicament (this time). Once she's got all the details from the Rise and 12 boys Rise April's all over the kid. I'm talking showering him in affection and giving his chubby cheeks kisses and rubbing his cheek against hers. Rise April also rubs the toddler's small shell and let's him sleep on her while holding him, turning him into a puddle of goo each time.
Much like 12 April, Rise April is immediately in love with this blue clad toddler only unlike 12 April who's seen pictures of 12 Leo, Rise April's never seen the semi serious yet dorky eldest Hamato as a child and she's instantly in doting big sister mode. Much like when the Rise boys and her were kids she takes on the big sister role to 12 Leo and showers this boy in affection. 12 April meanwhile somewhat spoils 12 Leo, picking him up whenever he wants to be held and bouncing him gently on her hip. She too becomes a big sister to the toddler and gives him affection as well only in smaller doses.
12 Leo is also an absolute angel around Rise April and 12 April. Whenever they ask him to do something like pick up his toys or they tell him not to do something he always listens to them, telling them Okay in his lispy baby tone. It drives the 12 and Rise boys absolutely nuts since 12 Leo's often times a menace (I'm talking like has bitten someone or found something sharp kind of menace) and yet as soon as he's around 12 April and Rise April he's the complete opposite.
Of course they've tried telling the two girls about the turtle toddler's mischievous nature only to be met with disbelieving looks or on some occasions upset protests such as How can you say something like that?? Lee would never do something like that he's a darling little sweetheart you guys should be ashamed of yourselves!
All the while as the two girls somewhat chew them out 12 Leo will watch in a childlike amusement the whole time, thinking about all the times he'd been chewed out by 12 April whenever 12 Mikey had done something and had gotten away with it. It's honestly hilarious to the fearless leader turned turtle tot.

Raph's Chicken Coop has been finished :D
Definitely not procrastinating Turtle Hot Pot <.< I ended up extremely disliking the rewritten chapter 7 while coding it and I'm very badly reconsidering rewriting it once more.
So it might take a tad longer TvT
Anywho o/ here's the labours of my procrastination
Raph's Chicken Coop
Tumblr media
Obviously Raph kept the chickens, no matter how much Mikey protested. They've been his little treasures for years, coming a close second to Chompy.
The chickens themselves have always loved and favoured Raph over his brothers. Even if their favourability with Raph himself shifted when his Number One spot became shared between three different parties. The chickens have known Chompy since they came to live here, just like they have Mona.
And when they adopted a tiny little Meerkat mutant, the chickens didn't think too bad of her when the little girl started chasing them.
Also, fun fact! More often than not does Raph "forget" to lock the fence gate behind him, resulting in his chickens finding their way out. And if Mikey just so happens to be outside, let's just say his day is about to get a little wild.
Leo's Garden
Tumblr media
Since Leo is physically unable to participate in missions, he's taken on a role as Bishops counsellor. And because cases are spread out far and wide between, Leo keeps himself occupied to a little veggie garden right outside in their backyard.
Mikey, Chloe and Casey collaborated on making him a scarecrow, while Donnie installed a sprinkler system (even though Leo does prefer to water everything by hand, on a Bad Knee Day it is welcomed with big relief). Raph makes sure to bring seeds from the city whenever he visits the place, making sure Leo's chest stays stocked.
And if one of the kids asks to help in the garden, Leo just can't say no. He absolutely loves having them do small tasks and teach them about things in ways a child can understand.
Leo's Greenhouse
Tumblr media
Aside from his vegetable garden, Leo was also gifted a greenhouse!
Yes, gifted, because he had no idea it was being built. It just popped up between his visits and his name had been hung on the doorknob alongside a multi-coloured ribbon. "For your new hobby!" had been written on the backside, the squiggly handwriting evidently had been Mikey's.
And he thought nobody had been listening or thought him to be serious when he'd expressed an interest in floral arrangements and gardening.
Tumblr media
The picnic basket on top of the chest usually signified one of his brothers had brought him something; Mikey usually brought snacks, Raph always gave him seeds known and unkown and Donnie - although rarely - left him little booklets on gardening or newly discovered plants from some corner of the world.
The little bonsai tree is Leo's way of remembering his father, and is extremely well cared for. When he gets particularly nostalgic for Splinter, you'll find him absentmindedly preening it. His brothers have to pull him away from the little tree more often than not when he turns up late for dinner.
The tables is where the magic happens, where Leo puts together flowers he grew into bouquets to cheer up the house. He makes a lot in a single month, both to give to friends for special occasions or to just hang up around the house.
The multitude of flower wreaths hanging around the house is definitely his handiwork.
The Patio
Tumblr media
Where the adults hang out on warm summer evenings. Kids (and pets) allowed.
The bar is equipped with all kinds of beverages; juice for the kids, plain water, beer and all necessities to make yourself a gooooood cocktail (Donnie doesn't care they're considered "feminine", Casey). Not to mention the alcohol brought back from Mona's planet, but that's only accessible when the kids have already gone to bed or went to spend the night at Hiroto's and auntie Karai's.
That's about it for now!
I'm very much procrastinating on all my projects, and I do apologize for that. I'm, again, unhappy with the rewritten chapter and am in a similar situation like chapter 4. I pray that it won't take me too long.

how does katsuichi feel abt leo’s fam? who does he bond with best? who does he bond with first? who slightly terrifies him(donnie)?
Okay so I thought about this a lot.
Besides Leo who he obviously has a close relationship with it’s Raph and Donnie.
Does Donnie worry him sometime yes absolutely.
But this is a man who gives genuine praise out like it’s candy on Halloween. If you did something good or he’s proud of you he’s going to say it.
Mikey gets a second dad in Draxum (he is trying to be their for the rest of the family but Mikey is special)
Leo had Señor Hueso to lean on.
Splinter’s whole character arch is realizing that his sons are his greatest accomplishments and the best thing to ever happen to him. He is a way better father at the end then at the beginning. I was watching the show when my mom visited and I was talking to her about it. We just got to the episode where Lou Jitsu was revealed to be their father and she went “so that’s splinter to. He’s their dad.” And so she watching this parent who is so deep in their own depression and struggling to regain what they think is their lost glory that we get to the monster truck episode and she goes. “He best turn it around after this.” And he does. When splinter is faced with his failures he does eventually correct them.
However we are here for Katsuichi.
Donnie mister “praise from a parental age adult” is all I ever wanted. He bends over backwards for Katsuichi. The first time Katsuichi sees Donnie’s tech and what it can do, he is freaked out but impressed. He tells Donnie this. That his work (his babies) is impressive and Donnie feeds off of that positivity.
Donnie doesn’t have to go out of his way for Katsuichi’s approval. Katsuichi gives praise readily. But anytime the man visits New York he sets some time aside to see Donnie’s newest work.
This causes some conflict in Donnie. On one hand he doesn’t want to like Usagi. (No one is good enough for his twin) but at the same time his dads great. Even once he starts like Usagi he keeps a multi-stepped plan tucked away. What’s the plan you might ask. How to keep Katsuichi in the family if Leo and Usagi break up.
On to Raph
Raph and Splinter have such an interesting relationship in rise. But having another adult reassure you is always nice.
Katsuichi is so calm and he’s used to having his kids around. Raph is so used to carrying weight and taking care of others. I think when Katsuichi’s around the load gets easier. Katsuichi protects his family fiercely and the turtles are part of it now. Not only does he acknowledge the weight that Raph is carrying but he actively tries to help shoulder some of it when he is around.
I just want Donnie and Raph to have another safe adult they can go to.
He loves April and Cassie as he can see them and Kitsune getting on like a house fire. He is exasperated when that expression turns into an actual building on fire, but he is fond of the girls.
Mikey is a darling and instantly connects to him. He loves the whole clan as they are Leo’s (and one day Usagi’s) family.
He does have some beef with Draxum. He doesn’t care how much the man apologizes he threw a child off a roof. He appreciates the growth and if the family is willing to give him a chance he won’t stop them but he doesn’t trust him right away.
This will be come more playful the longer they know each other and they will compete for best grandpa.
He respects Splinter. But I think seeing how Katsuichi is with his own children and the turtles will push Splinter to be an even better dad.
Casey Jr. is the adopted grandson he didn’t know he would get this earlier but is not unwelcome. Any argument involving Casey he is instantly on Casey’s side. It is a shadow of the push over of a grandfather he will be.
All around he is a great guy. I can’t wait to write more of him. He’s not perfect by any means but he loves his family and that is his core.

Big Leo holding Raph and joking around with lil' Leo 🥺💜
RAPHIE!!!! I LOVE MY BIG MAN SM!!!!!! i love him i love him i love him i love him i love himmmmmmm
(v excerpts taken from ch7 v)
Before he responds Leonardo walks into the room. Under his arm is Raph, hanging there limply with a shocked expression. Leo reels at the sight a little bit. It looks like Raph is too as he jolts up. “Wait, you can actually carry me?” “I've been waiting for the perfect moment to!” The older turtle chuckles. “And I can do more than carry you, big brother.” He lets Raph down to the floor and crouches down forward for a piggy back ride. Raph gasps loudly and climbs on his back, locking his ankles together. Leonardo stands up with no struggle and Raph starts to pat excitedly on the older turtle’s shoulders. His older brother was wiggling, and yes, it’s fucking adorable! “Leo, Donnie, look!!” “We see that, bud.”
raph is literally so excited to be picked up, the last time he was picked up was from when april tried and he was like 11. yeah sure hes 17 now but that does NOT make him immune to having an indescribable amount of joy for being carried around like a ragdoll
he kicky his feeties
on the other hand, fleo wanted to return and thank raph in his own way. for protecting him, for taking care of him donnie, and mikey. and also as kind of an apology.
"let me carry the burden you do" is what hes trying to say here. and even to present raph, hes still taking care of fleo. raph cares about his brother so much it doesnt matter if fleo is taller than him now, that hes older with decades on him, that he survived a war.
fleo is his little brother and nothing is going to change that.
onto the leos !!
He sees in his periphery that Leonardo smiles wider. “Awe, you like me.” “Don’t push it.” Leo rolls his eyes. “It’d be shitty to demote you just because you're not from this timeline. If we did that, we’d have to do it to Case– Junior too. It wouldn’t have been fair.” “Whatever you say.” Leo snorts. “That being said, can you stop leering over in the shadows? It's actually terrifying.” “I can only do so many things in the lair before I’m bored again.” “And that means giving me a heart attack every time I go into a room? Put away your scary ass stare man, I swear your eyes turn red.” “I didn’t know you were so faint of heart.” “I should have kept you sedated.” Leo says, knowing he never once put him under sedation.
my dynamic of leos is very hard for me to describe personally. its not hostile, its just complicated, and even then "complicated" has too negative of a connotation.
leo is a person who latches onto family with his entire heart. he accepted karai as gramgram near immediately and we all know how fucked up about her death was on him and to the rest of the boys.
its different when its a version of yourself.
for me i didnt want immediate hostility(look away from the scalpel incident for one sec), because i saw some fics that go too hard into the "leo hates himself" angle and while not unsounded, it can be played straight and have a good payoff, it was NOT the tone i wanted in wmas. it wouldnt match the kind of complication im trying to give across here
pov leo, hes seeing himself as the pinnacle leader, from how casey described him, hes the Hero, this is the ideal of what he should be striving for.
but the person hes seeing in front of him is just a guy. leo saw him injured, resting on bed in the medbay, he saw him start to cry in raph's arms, he sees a father, he sees a confused and lost man in front of him.
in a way its pity. in a way he pities himself. fleo is tired and leo can clearly see that, cause hell, hes fuckin tired too.
“I should have kept you sedated.” Leo says, knowing he never once put him under sedation. “That’s called elderly abuse.” “And you’re how old?” “Do I really- okay I see that face, alright.” Leonardo moves his hand to cover Leo’s face and shoves him back. “You got me. Whatever, you absolute child.” Leo cackles.
and fleo's pov on the matter is, well, i kinda already typed it out all the way in chapter 5
The world of this timeline said that Leo will be able to make up for his mistake with the key. Not him, the world said.
he looks at leo and feels so much pride, but hes scared that leo thinks less of him. leo managed to save the world and he didnt. and now hes here fucking up a perfectly good happy ending that didnt need to include him.
and on a little more selfish level, "why wasnt i good enough" fleo is thinking.
he doesnt think leo as the superior version of the two of them, but the fact still stands. one of them won. the other didnt. and he sometimes wishes he won too. its complicated.
they dont hate each other, not even a little bit. theyre too good of people to hate each other

I've seen a lot rottmnt separated aus and I'm thinking 2012 tmnt separated au. Like Donatello and Mikelangelo are left with the Shredder. Whilst Raphael and Leonardo are left with Splinter. What do you think would happen let's say they got separated by kidnapping, Shredder heard rumours of a "giant eat monster" in the sewers , initially he didn't think much of it until he saw on the news a shuriken with the Hamato clan symbol. He sends trained ninjas to investigate. Splinter still not used to his new form loses an eye and two of his sons . The B team are taken to The Foot headquarters to Shredder who decided to use them against Splinter , I mean he already took one child what's two more? They are raised along Karai as Deadly Weapons . What do you think?
I have a Mutant World au, MW AU, which is my 2012 separated AU-type project. Tis my baby. So young, but so full of trauma
Basically: In a world of mutants, Leo and Donnie are the only humans, raised and experimented on by Kraang until they escape. Outcasted and scared, they learn to stay out of sight, and take refuge in the sewers. A year or so later, two turtle brothers stumble upon their home. After Donnie stops Leo from trying to straight up murder them, a friendship is born, and not long after, in an hour of need, they meet the turtle brother’s adopted father. Soon, the only two humans find themselves a little less alone.
Yk.
And stuff- wait, did I just accidental write a decent summary that wasn’t a million paragraphs long??? I didn’t know I could do that so how did I-?!
I have a bunch of notes, but no real story. Kinda prefer it that way tho. Leaves it open for possibilities~
AS FOR YOUR AU IDEA-
I like it! When I think of separate Shredder AUs, I’ll admit that I usually think of Raphael getting taken with another brother. The rivalry of Leo VS Raph and Raph having a younger sibling who can keep him from turning completely to the dark side is a fav trope of mine. I can’t see him keeping them around unless he knows that they belongs to Splinter, because that’s what he took Karai. He felt like he had some right to her.
Shredder kidnapping two small children and using them against their father is definitely a road that I can see him going down.
It’s rumored that Mikey is the most naturally skilled, and it’s apparent that Donnie is a lil’ genius even as a tot- so maybe that has something to do with him not just doing away with the two freaks.
Maybe they’re toddlers- conscious enough to know when they’re being kidnapped by scary men, and old enough to have some memories that can be repressed for future “hey, wait, have we met?” familiarity stuff. So Shredder sees that they have potential to be useful and decides to keep them, teaching them to fear and hate Splinter and the Hamato clan.
Suddenly so in love with this idea- What if! While he’s repressing memories, Splinter is encouraging his sons to remember the brothers they lost. Then when they run into Donnie and Mikey on the surface, there’s just this ultimate moment of those are our little brothers that passes between them without question. I can see Donnie and Mikey are actively trying to kill them, and Leo and Raph sticking to defense because those are their missing little brothers! They can’t hurt them!
Mikey would definitely be the first to believe Leo and Raph’s insistence because come on, no matter what timeline he’s in, he’s Mikey- and Donnie takes longer because he’s the most loyal creature ever and “Mikey, they owe everything to the Foot! They’re still Yoshi’s disciples, and biology doesn’t actually make a family!”
And their big sis is a big bundle of jealous because these turtles are trying to take her little brothers away from her. I can totally see Karai bonding with Leo until Leo’s abruptly like: Hey wait, those are my brothers! >:0
Welp, playtime’s over now because she ain’t giving up her little brothers without a fight- wait, what do you mean she’s-? No, she’s Karai, not Miwa!
I’d like to think something monumental happens that changes Donnie’s and Karai’s mind- or maybe it’s just as simple as the series. They pretend to be life them to find the lair, only to discover by the photo or some other means that the Hamatos have been telling the truth. One things leads to another, and they all realize that they have a ✨true family✨ that has more than enough love to share.
And then Shredder gets mad and Karai gets turned into a snake and New York is taken over by Kraang and chaos ensues 0-0
Oooh, losing big sis trauma-
“Karai?”
Michael’s in a daze, staring out the the fiery building beside Don as if expecting to see her emerge from the flames. Don gently pulls him back, tucking him into a hug as if to shield him from the sight. Very slowly, Mikey’s arms wrap around the scrawny shell, and he allows himself to break. Don’s misty gaze shares the same tint as the roaring flames. “We failed her.”
Michael chokes on a sob, squeezing himself closer, and Don says nothing. Leo sets a hand on his arm. “No, you didn’t.”
“You did all you could.” Splinter whispers as he comes up beside his eldest. “How could we have known… He called her daughter.”
“He was never much of a father.”
Don’s tone is detached, and Raph’s response dares the world to challenge him. “That tinhead has never been much of anything. We’ll find her- we’ll find her and we’ll fix this.”
“We found our brothers.” Leo agrees as he sets a hand on Michael’s carapace. “No matter what she looks like, we’ll find our sister too. We’ll bring her home.”
“Home?” Michael pulls away from Don to peer at him with watery eyes, and Leo offers a gentle smile. “Yeah. Come on.” He glances at the warehouse, devoured by flames and hate, and then to the horizon, where some hope might hide. “Let’s go.”
Splinter glances around the rooftops, checking for an sighs of further danger, his tone hardening enough to encourage them forward. “Yes, Leonardo. It is time to go home.”
Michael steps away from the still Don, and Leo consents to take his hand, leading him away from the horrors behind them. Raph slips an arm around his shell, turning him away, helping to lead him somewhere that he’ll feel safe enough to release the vulnerability that he keeps locked away.
Eventually, he does, and Mikey breaks harder still, but their family is right there for them when they do. Nothing changes, the nightmare is still a reality…
…But it helps.
