Editor’s note: The War on Sharing is an informal journal about my life as an anti-capitalist dissident in a burgeoning Pig Empire police state, during a time of normalized fascist reaction. Given the deeply personal nature of this writing, please consider citations to be arbitrary, profanity to be praxis, and slang to be artisanal.
TWoS: When Everything Falls Apart
As you may have noted, the above quote isn’t my writing and instead comes to you from Antonio Gramsci; a Marxist philosopher and the founder of the Italian Communist Party. A brilliant thinker, Gramsci wrote the above passage while imprisoned by Mussolini and his fascist government, where he ultimately died at age forty-six; you can read the appropriately titled “Selections from the Prison Notebooks” by clicking here.
If this quote seems simultaneously familiar, and yet off somehow to you, that’s probably because you’ve heard a mistranslation offered by (highly questionable) philosopher Slavoj Žižek. That wording typically goes “The old world is dying, and the new world struggles to be born: now is the time of monsters.” While both of these quotes relate well to what I’m writing about here today, I went with the Gramsci original as a headliner because I feel some kindred nature with the author; which is certainly not something I’d say about Žižek.
So why does Gramsci’s quote speak to me on this chilly October morning? Because although he could not have intended it, our author has nevertheless spoken what I perceive to be an undeniable truth about our present, and at times, terrifying moment in human history. We too live in a moment when the old, a capitalist liberal democratic order in the Pig Empire, is dying. We too are trapped inside a birthing moment, where the new socio-political and perhaps economic order that will replace it is unclear. More importantly, our society is being artificially rooted inside this old and dying order by powerful forces capable of delaying this transition; but only at great cost, and only for a time.
This is without question a frightening time to be alive. It’s not an accident that fascism is rising, the real wage economy is imploding, the neoliberal foreign policy consensus lies in tatters, life in free market capitalist societies has become a Cyberpunk-esque libertarian dystopia, and the oceans are literally boiling; all at once.
These are all merely the visible symptoms of the same problem; we’ve run out of planet, and it’s either the end of capitalism, or the end of a human habitat that can support several billion people. I’m not telling you this to frighten you, I’m telling you this so that you will understand why everything around you seems to be falling apart at the same time. Knowledge is power; it’s the difference between knowing what to do, and dying because some rich fascist has got you locked in a lie and working against your own class interests.
The plain truth of the matter is that rich people mean you harm; which is why I can’t just disregard Žižek’s translation of this quote entirely. These billionaires, in-pocket politicians, and their pet propagandists are monsters, and right now they have unfathomable power over our society. Given the choice of saving the planet, or continuing capitalism, the ruling capitalist order has more or less en masse chosen capitalism - bodies be damned.
Furthermore, in this frozen moment between the death of the old, and the birth of the new, the laws and social mores of the Pig Empire make truly fighting back almost impossible (or at least highly dangerous) for those of us who don’t intend to go quietly into that good night so oil companies and rich nazi futurists can keep the grand game going for another generation at most. For now.
And so it is that we all must continue to come together on websites, at protests, in discussion groups. Watching, waiting, teaching the truths, ideas, and theories that will carry humanity forward when no amount of money and violence can maintain the dead corpse of the old, in the rightful place of the new. If you’re out there reading this someplace dark and lonely, take heart; the fall of a rigged neoliberal democratic order doesn’t mean the death of democracy, and just because the fascists seize the levers of power doesn’t mean we have to obey.
It is undeniably a time of monsters, but the simple peasant folk still have answers even when the laws of our lords and masters forbid it. Patience is a virtue, and revenge is a dish best served cold - preferably from a height of roughly three feet.

A quick and dirty worldbuilding drabble for a blades in the dark game
The entire world is governed by the Tetrapolar Union. There is no lever of power, be it economic or technological that they don not have their hands on. Where their constituents might have once been rapacious empires gorging themselves on resources and labor, the Union slowly chokes the life out of the world to feed itself. Below are the four poles that comprise the Union The Serene Thalassocracy of Velata- Oldest, strongest city-state, founder of the Tetrapolar Union. The economic and military beating heart of the Union. Heavily aristocratic, with ship captains and admirals as nobles and royalty. Their culture venerates the ideal of the masculine sailor, rugged and unflappable, men and women alike are expected to live up to this ideal. Velata has largely transitioned from an industrial economy to a service one, the delicate work of creating magitech along with all of the most prestigious magical academies reside here, their students all becoming part of the Apparati dela Mare, the state magician corp. All its people grow fat on the implicit imperialism of the Union. The Industrialist Republic of Prydain - Similarly aged and venerable as their Veletese counterparts, the Prydains have focused instead on metalwork and resource extraction. In the past Prydain was an empire to rival Velata, and had once warred with them but recently have found cooperation and compact to be the more profitable path. Immense foundries and mills crowd Prydain cities, filling it with them stink of work. Prydain is also well known for their industrial automata, largely totally obedient and capable of feats of immense strength and durability. Few outside of the magnates are aware of their inner workings. Ruled by captains of industry which while elected by the people, do little for their sake.
The Pharusian Futurist State - Founded by a group of scientists, engineers, poets, and theorists from all across the world for the sake of advancement no matter the cost. Work involving everything from development magitechnical flying automata to the biological analysis of paranormal entities is conducted here. They are infamous for their various failed experiments and accidents. Most famous of these is Pharusia itself, a massive aerostatic city that hovers over the ocean. The Futurist State provides economic security for its people so progress can be achieved free from distraction, but imposes no moral or ethical restrictions on their research. The Shinano Federated Republic - A relatively new inductee into the Tetrapolar Union, Shinano was once a military stratocracy that was overthrown by the Unitary Communist movement , headed by the now legendary Ariane Sun-Kowler known among the communists as 'Mother Revolution'. However, the social democratic and moderate wing of the revolution had betrayed the communists and purged them before aligning the newborn Republic with the Union. While less dictatorial than many of their counterparts, power and wealth remains distant from the average person. Discontent with the moderates and incrementalists burns, and while the UniComms may have failed here, they have spread far and wide throughout the Union.

Velestinia
A Christian nation in Tropentarctica, founded by the Blue Division Soldiers that traveled Eastwards 2 years after WW2. Criollos from Uruguay, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia and Brazilians are known to have immigrated first alongside Spaniards and Sicilians with Romanians, Bavarians and Irishmen settling in Coose City in 1948. In 1952, Lebanese, Manchurians and Korean immigrants were attracted to the capital Salcana, which was the first city to prosper 2 years prior the founded of the nation. 4 years later, statesman Carlos Franco Trujillo began their projects to build more cities, and let settlers build their towns. 5 cities that were successfully built and opened in 1959 and 1963 are St.Philipsburg, New Salamanca, Fatimagrad, Limia, and Santiagoville. Philipolis was founded in 1967, known for malls, commercial buildings and beaches. Each cities have 4 commercial buildings, 2 factories, malls, schools, and local shops. Fatimagrad is the Catholic capital of the nation, where billions of Catholics visits the place during the month of the Sacred hearts. Velestinia has a formidable army, known for the defeating the Joseon Army in the Joseon-Crusader war of 2020-24. Their special forces are the Omega Corps, known for renaissance, stealth, tactics and martial arts. Paratroopers were among the best of Velestinia, second are Naval Infantry and Marines. The law enforcement are not the police, but the Velestinian Constabulary, armed and equipped like the Military, they also have their SWAT which was formed in 1982. Since, Velestinia has their own oil, ethanol, cotton, silk, gold and diamonds. They fund themselves, like how their Casmanian neighbors does. Healthcare is free in Velestinia, with the same qualities as those in Scandinavia and the US, which made the nation as one of the happiest in the world. Schools does not pressure their students, everyone studies freely, no uniforms, no expenses and schools have free breakfast and lunches everyday. Summer classes are for people who needs to make up with credits or those who needs to take advance subjects to stay ahead. Education system in Velestinia is similar to Norway and Finland. Many Gagauz women are sent to study at The Women’s Catholic University of Velestinia. Note that public schools have the same qualities as Private schools in here. Men ages 17-27 are required to served at least for 2 years in the military. Like the US, VA benefits exists. More immigrants from Eastern Europe later comes to the nation and contributed to the formation of the city’s industry. Porn and anything Western is banned in the nation, since it’s Catholic views are strong. Italian Velestinians are known to have built Veniceburg, the city where New York styled buildings can be seen. 3 structures similar to those in the Roman era can be seen, with futuristic features added. Banks are similar to ancient Greek buildings to add style, since Velestinians value the word “ masterpiece “ and “ art “. There no opposition in Velestinia, because corruption does not exist in the country, it is outlawed according to the Imperial act No. 1952. A militia exists, since the second amendment was a constitutional law signed by the founding fathers of the Dominion. Soldiers after their service are allowed to keep their weapons. Permitless carry is allowed, since in the nation, the youths are being taught how to handle firearms and how to use it to prevent issues and misunderstandings. Their know lake is Lake Cool, near the Alpac mountains. People are seen to be visiting the area to relax and enjoy the view. The lake is clear, which people find unique. A forest with an enchanted river in Danuba is also one of the tourist attraction of the country, known for it’s turquoise, transparent river, and beautiful rainforest. Camping is safe, as the guides are responsible for teaching the tourists where to go and what not to do. Last thing about Velestinia is that it is as diverse as the US and Canada, but with traditional values. Russians, Italians, Spaniards, Hungarians, Poles, Greeks, Criollos, Ethiopians and Irishmen helped shaped

Springing back in for a super-late Halloween update, this was actually a project done months ago, but which I never got the chance to upload...until now! It first emerged out of discussions over TS3′s lack of a robust restaurant system, but it then became apparent that a possible solution was right under our noses all along! Into the Future shipped with a cafe system, which when utilized in a homeworld, generates human waiters for your sims to take orders. Unfortunately, the items included in ITF are overly futuristic, meaning that their usage is fairly limited in a contemporary setting. Hence the reason for this project!
Help me pay for continuing education and other expenses! Every little amount is always appreciated with the amount of time I put into these projects in a busy schedule!

Perfect for use in diners, fast-casual restaurants, and cafeterias!
These two items function the same way as the original food & drink synthesizers
For the best experience, a package disabling the ITF effect is also included in the download, as well as notes on which effects to disable if you use Cmar's Create-Your-Own No Effects Mod tool.
An additional package is included that disables the sound effects for the food synthesizer.
I recommend using icarus_allsort’s Food Synthesizer Pop-up Menu to make choosing a meal more convenient.
Installation is like any other item, but are included in the download file.
The serving hatch requires Into the Future! The soda fountain, suprisingly, does not.

hi feel free to ignore this if you don't want to address it but was Wiltshire Space Station deleted??? I just noticed it's not in my bookmarks anymore and it was one of my faves. 😭😭😭 Is there any chance you'd ever repost it? I reread it like all the time. I wish I had thought to save it 😭😭😭
Yeah. I'm using one pretty major element of it in the original I'm working on, and didn't want to deal with the way people are unkind to former fic writers if they reuse anything. And it was a pretty unpopular story, so I knew I wasn't going to slog away at finishing it and I don't like having undone things out there. (I've gotten the message loud and clear that fandom's taste and what I grew to be interested in exploring in fic are very different, and that's fine, but if I'm going to be ignored, I've got the publishing industry for that.) If you are looking for emotional space opera, try C.S. Friedman's stuff. This Alien Shore is one of my favorite books of all time and was a pretty big influence on Wiltshire Space Station. Some of the corporate abuse stuff was influenced by Away is a Strange Place to Be by H.M. Hoover. If you want strong female leads in space and aren't bothered by weirdly cold sex stuff, try the Hulzein Saga by F.M. Busby (also good for a very strong corporations are evil vibe.) Finally, Catspaw by Joan D. Vinge is also great for futuristic evil corps plus plucky hero who keeps getting beat up.

Yugioh Episode 30 Season 4: The Dead Joey Shuffle
Lets ignore everything happening on planet Earth right now and talk about old ass anime, shall we? Yes, my sky turned a horrible end of the world yellow/orange color for an entire day because of a LOT of fire in my state. But thankfully, the winds have changed, the sky is blue...and I can write about Yugioh again.
Last we left off, Tristan, Tea, and Yami stumbled across two fresh corpses. Now, when Joey died a season or two ago (I honestly can’t remember when), we had my favorite storyboarder at the helm just sweeping emotion all over the field and the intense weeping for Joey Wheeler lasted for like 30 minutes. Yugi freaked out in the puzzle headspace for like half an episode and nearly gave up playing cards again, Yami punched a wall and then put a duel disk on Joey’s arm like a funerary send off to the afterlife, Tea started losing her mind and begged Yugi to drop out of the tourney so Yugi wouldn’t die, and Pharaoh was like “yo Tea, Yugi can’t talk right now can we do this later????” And then Tristan, out of nowhere, just started shaking Joey and screaming at him to wake up (and I think he punched him in the face and it got censored? Yo that episode is wild.) Joey got plugged to some Kaiba Corp med bay that had like 2 dozen weird sensors attached to his chest and feet to keep him alive. Serenity was like hyperventilating in the back, just a LOT of stuff was happening all at once.
But this time, with an ordinary animation team, these three kids are so distracted by the other corpse, that they only cry just a little bit before being like “woah what?”
And like this is their second time. Maybe they’ve gotten used to Joey being dead? Maybe they got it all out of their system and are now a lot more accustomed to the fact that they all must die. Several times.
Tumblr media
Confronted with this Agatha Christie brand debacle, Tristan makes an incredible reach that is also completely correct. Like this is such an amazing incredible reach.
Tumblr media
Hire Tristan as your detective, hot damn. There are like 7.8 billion Orichalcos-possessed people on this planet right now trying to kill Joey Wheeler and Tristan actually called the right one.
Tumblr media
Yami never tells us who he blames, but it’s OK, because the show immediately cuts over to Dartz’ silicon valley fortress to tell us without telling us. So while this animation team isn’t as insanely extra as our previous animation teams, they still know how to edit their cuts to work alongside their dialogue just fine.
(read more under the cut)
Tumblr media
Lets take a little while to just take this in. Someone took a while to make it, so rather than look at it for half a second before it passes--please lets count the number of floating streets in this scene.
3.
So before when I talked about the history of San Francisco, I mentioned the old Embarcadero, which was a double decker street wrapped around the peninsula. (we still see parts of this double decker set up on parts of the highway to this day.) But what if--they actually have no idea that the Embarcadero was a thing before it fell down in an earthquake?
What if they just...wanted San Francisco to be vaguely cyberpunk in this universe and that floating freeway was supposed to be futuristic and not just an 80′s throwback?
Because there’s 3 streets stacked on top of eachother right here and yo there is no where in the city built like this. This is a Gotham situation where the poors live on the lower levels and the rich just kind of hang out on the top. We have too many Earthquakes in reality to ever support this setup but Yugioh...wow. They went for it.
Also, our art deco architecture isn’t quite in this style as Dartz’ mansion. Mind you, this isn’t full deco, and the structure has more of an ancient world vibe. But...while San Fransisco does have a lot of deco, it’s just different (sorry you’re not really here for the architecture but youknow, I’m an artist so I do think a lot about why concept artists may have gone where they went)
++++++++++RANT ABOUT SF DECO VS COMIC BOOK DECO FEEL FREE TO SKIP++++++++++++++
So I’m not going to dare say this is a mistake on the Yugioh team by any means, since Deco is Deco and who knows when Dartz built that building. But like I’ve seen the SF skyline many times in this show and it’s got some funky shapes in it that are just sooo off to me. They keep drawing a more Futurist New York. Truth is, we don’t have that many skyscrapers in SF.
Most of the pictures you see of scaling buildings are of this one area around the financial district--everything else is...pretty short. So in those photos they very carefully crop out all the really squat as hell buildings on either side of it, to give the impression that our city is super tall, much like a dating app.
And, as far as Art Deco Gotham-esque skyscrapers go, we got ones like this guy:
Tumblr media
Where at a glance it’s like...that’s barely deco (and barely that impressive. This is 1/3 the height of the Empire State building.) Compared to a lot of cities in America, our skyscrapers aren’t as...clearly deco from far away? We don’t have the huge ass humps and long ass gilded lines of the Empire State building or the Chrysler building. You only really get those details when you zoom in.
Our other skyscrapers are kinda understated or modern in comparison. And the reason why we just don’t have many deco skyscrapers is because...our ground ain’t good for building skyscrapers at all, so it took us kind of a while to build up.
Like we got this tower that we built recently (the first skyscraper they built in SF in a good while) and they decided to name it the “The Millennium Tower” which...I know...good job, team, clearly you wanted to get cursed. Well the tower started leaning about 3 or 4 years ago, like well over a foot from it’s original spot, it’s just tilting and sinking away, and people are freaking out because it’s surrounded by other tall buildings so they’re like “damn it we’re gonna dominoes.” The people in charge were like “well...we don’t know why it’s leaning...but I’m sure it’s fine” and it’s like “the ground. It was the ground...you dumbasses” not to mention that it’s clearly cursed by at least one angry Egyptian Ghost but...what do you do?
I would absolutely watch the Yugioh spinoff season about the Millennium Tower and the SF tycoons that got possessed by a ghost and have to play card games to keep their tower from squishing all of San Francisco. Yo you should hire me, Yugioh, I got IDEAS.
Man...Yugioh predicting the future, how did they call the ill fate of The Millennium Tower????
But anyway, most skyscrapers in SF are kind of boring because they have to be sturdy as hell. But, they have some neat modern shapes (like the Transamerica Pyramid--in the shape of A PYRAMID that hasn’t shown it’s face once this entire Egyptian influenced anime)
Tumblr media
I mean, come on Yugioh, it’s right there.
Also the hell is this weird UFO on this picture I lifted off of google?
Like I think it’s 4 jets?
I may have lifted this from an alien website, so forgive me, q-anon for lifting your image, I’m trying to talk about architecture in my Yugioh blog.
In fact the only building I (and google) can think of that is both really tall and deco-ey is this one:
Tumblr media
And it’s a Marriot hotel built in the late 80′s. And honestly, it looks way more 1980′s Las Vegas than it does Deco. (It honestly looks like photobashing but made real, this is a weird building.)
And I could be wrong and overlooking a very important structure, but most of the city’s really cool art deco buildings are in the form of theaters, libraries, churches, schools, and houses--which are only a few stories tall. They’re gorgeous buildings with cool and different silhouettes, it’s just not very big.
Tumblr media
Like I believe this is an old high school?
also a lot of our “art deco” has no idea if it’s victorian, deco, or art noveau so they’ll just hit all of it to see what sticks. It’s a lot more eclectic than other places where Deco is typically more...straight-lined. I kinda hate defining art styles as masculine or feminine but honestly it’s the quickest way to really hit home the difference between a Bruce Timm art deco that you’d see in a comic book, (which is very New York inspired) and what we have in San Fransisco which is really decorative and decadent.
The Yugioh SF just has no curvy nonsense and that really sticks out to me.
Tumblr media
Ornate swirls get shoved Everywhere. Willy nilly. Just everywhere randomly. And it sits next to other structures that are modern and simplistic. It’s very San Francisco to have this old world next to new world.
Tumblr media
And it makes sense. SF is the other side of the continent from New York, and about as far West as you can go from the movement going on in Europe. So...we made our own take and tl;dr the art deco in our city doesn’t look like Gotham at all.
And, while it’s not as grand or dark or iconic, it’s a good thing. It’s what helps make San Fransisco look really unique compared to other American cities--the fact that we're...short and eclectic. Our district with the skyscrapers is where it’s kinda boring, actually--the good stuff is when you get away from that. Where every little building has a spunky wild personality.
But in a show like this you gotta make it seem more grand and less homely so--they scaled up the buildings a lot more than we really have and homogenized all the stylings into one (and they axed every Victorian swirl because they don’t want to draw that). They really just turned SF into comic book New York--especially since I’ve only seen like...one steep hill since we got here.
It’s fine, and it makes complete sense why they did it, (I’m more confused as to why most of California is a Nevada desert so I can easily forgive a San Francisco without the right Deco) it’s just a very different energy.
and honestly...it’s an energy influenced by the tone of the show. Everything has a very dark blue-gray palate, and it’s because it’s literally the end of the world, Joey has died, everyone is sad...maybe it would be out of place to have a building that looks like it sparks joy? The harsh and cold lines do add to the gravity of the situation.
Maybe I would have done the same thing? In the end, the legibility of your story matters more than the accuracy of your story--especially when it comes to TV. Which is somewhat a controversial statement, and there’s exceptions when it comes to cultural stuff. But while the culture of San Fransisco was erased (a culture that they did draw in the beginning of the season! they did show alcatraz, a trolly, and the golden gate!), it is at a point in the show where...all of humanity is being erased anyway. Could also be symbolic? Maybe?
+++++++++++++END OF THE ART DECO RANT+++++++++++++
So anyway, stepping away from lovely buildings and into this gross ass abandoned park, Yami decides he’s gotta get himself to this gaudy ass Batman building ASAP.
Tumblr media
He can ride a horse but he absolutely will not ride a motorcycle. Or touch Joey Wheeler’s dead body.
Which is wild because apparently there’s a Yugioh spinoff where all they do is ride motorcycles??? But from what I heard, Yami is not in it. Which is the most wild thing.
So uh...you know how much I love art details, lets take a long look at this one.
Tumblr media
AH no.
Nope nope nope nope.
I hate this logo. It looks like an emperor penguin’s eyebrow thingies. Like a face with just four huge eyebrows.
Not sure why we randomly have a new logo. It’s nearly the end of the season, we’ve already shown the Orichalcos logo so many times. Was this episode made earlier in development than the rest? Is that why there were like - I dunno, put this random logo here... Maybe we’ll figure out the rest of the logo later?
I don’t know. This weird logo feels so out of place.
And then because I’m thinking about buildings...maybe it’s influenced by our Shell building?
Tumblr media
Maybe? Or not? Just saying you got a round thing with radial lines hovering over a trellis...the possibility is there that they were inspired but had to edit it down for animation? Eh, I’m reaching desperately for anything that looks like San Francisco at this point.
Anyways, the front door of this building is an elevator (????) and in a somewhat confusing set of cuts, out of this elevator comes the murderer herself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And she’s dead.
SO HAPPY I didn’t have to watch that card game but like...c’mon. There’s no way Mai would lose to Raphael.
Maybe that’s why they couldn’t show it? Because she’s the only person on this show who uses a themed deck with cards that actually sync with eachother? (outside of Pegasus’ toon deck and Grandpa’s voltron deck ((sorry it’s name isn’t voltron, I’ve forgotten the name of the robot that you build out of other cards. Exodus? Exodysseus?
It’s Exodia isn't it? Wtv. 2020′s been a real long one, all y’all.)) )
Tumblr media
(don’t ask where the smoke came from, we don’t know. Maybe Yami felt like making it to be more aesthetic. It is a fun visual tic to the show.)
So Yami goes into this elevator instead of anticipating that this is obviously a trap. Like most would just decide to take the stairs instead, but Yami loves falling for a good obvious trap every once and a while (or, in the case of this season--each and every single time a trap is placed in front of him) and so this takes him directly to the fightclub roof of yore.
Tumblr media
Ah. We started this season on fightclub roof, in like...2010 or whenever I started this season. Feels like forever ago. How long has the year of 2020 been? 20 years of my life? 40 years of my life? Was I in fact never born before 2020 started? I honestly don’t remember anymore who I was before this year happened. Probably because I inhaled just a hell ton of wildfire smoke and now my brain is a bunch of jelly beans rattling around in a jar.
Anyway, Raphael just hands Yami (by hands I mean throws aggressively) Joey’s dragon card.
A little unsure why he’d do this since...this is the weapon to destroy Dartz. Why are you giving it back to the Pharaoh? But apparently, Raphael did that to prove that he is the murderer of Mai, who murdered Joey and...youknow...the stuff that we know but would be pretty difficult for the people in this show to follow.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mai’s voice actor seeing “Mumbo-Jumbo” and being like “Well if I’m doing this, I’m going to commit.“
Tumblr media Tumblr media
WE ARE NEVER DUELING DARTZ.
I refuse that a duel with Dartz, in fact, ever happens in this season.
Tumblr media
Kind of surprised whenever I see there’s still people left. SF is basically abandoned in comparison.
Thing is...that’s just SF on a holiday weekend.
Tumblr media
And then, because Tristan’s in the middle of the street, the rest of the party has to try and run him over.
Tumblr media
It is really funny to me that Seto went out of his way to ditch these people so MANY times, but keeps ending up around them again and again, and each time in a wildly different vehicle, each and every time it’s when these guys need a lift...he’s very quickly turning into the group’s soccer mom. Should’ve gotten a minivan.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then this happens?
Tumblr media
I’ll just leave this here:
Tumblr media
I’m sure that fanfic writers everywhere rejoiced when Seto reached out a hand to catch Joey’s face from hitting the pavement. In all this was a bizarre animation and now that I’ve figured out my blender settings for the new update, I can finally cap little segments again.
Just don’t you dare flag me, tumblr. Hopefully segments less than 10 seconds long are fine.
Tumblr media
Like there was this part where they had to just drag around Joey’s corpse over this rail, and it was Mokuba and Tristan just prying him up there like he were a potato sack and like...
...Joey’s gonna wake up with so many rail-shaped bruises! They do not treat him gently!
Tumblr media
Then back on fightclub roof, Raphael made me do a bit of a double take when he accidentally implied the existence of another bean within that Pharaoh bean.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And no, Bakura did not show up at this point.
I would LOVE IT if Pharaoh biffed it a second time and Bakura suddenly took the reigns and was like “Oi loves! that was bloody easy!” but I...have a feeling that this team didn’t actually watch the episodes where Bakura is just vibing in that puzzle piece.
If this never comes back to bite Pharaoh in the ass...
It might never come back guys...I don’t know. How do these writers have this much self control to ignore Bakura for like a full season. How do you do it? I can’t hold a plot twist in for even like 5 seconds. How....how do you do it?
Tumblr media
Anyways, now that Seto has Tea who has a map, they walk up to the entrance (I honestly forgot if they drove or walked because knowing this show, Seto would absolutely ignore the car. Either way, the Ferrari isn’t necessary anymore. Written right out of the script. Cars are hard to draw. Get rid of it)
Tumblr media
You know, Mokuba’s seen an awful lot of corpses for a kid! Like 20ish corpses if you count the 2 times the Big 5 biffed it. Really should have left him with Rebecca! Youknow, the other kid the same age as him!
But it’s fine, we gotta train Mokuba to suppress that trauma deep, deep down like a proper Kaiba.
Youknow when I started this series I was like “I don’t get why everyone talks about the Kaibas so much, these two seem kinda like whatever” but now I’m on like S4 and like...I’m SO concerned about the Kaibas. With Yugi...whatever...he’s gonna be fine, but the Kaibas? Oh boy. Either one of them could go completely evil and I’d buy it.
And probably root for them.
And I know they won’t go full tilt, I’m pretty sure--but like...they COULD. I can’t say that about the rest of the cast.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Everyone’s made it!
Even joey’s weird coma/dead body for some reason!
Lol also I love this random sci-fi tech water tower next to Tea. What is that?
My drought senses are screaming, is that a huge ass water tower the size of a 4 story building next to Tea? Chances are, it’s got a jet in it or something because this is Yugioh, but...man. At least it doesn’t look like one of those rusty New York rooftop water towers. This show just completely not getting what SF looks like.
Whatever, he can resurrect the leviathan, maybe Dartz can make water?
Youknow, all you have to do to make California worship you forever is make rain. Screw this lizard nonsense. The man can power water. What’s he doing with this stupid snake?
But youknow, Yugioh just never really figures out how to harness the weather. They CAN and they do it all the time. But, do they use it for their benefit? Like freakin never.
Anyway, that’s all for now. I went on a looong rant about SF but maybe I’m just sick of my own house? Been a lot of fire and quarantine over here. It’s been messing with my head a fair amount so thanks for bearing with me and my weird ass update schedule (remember when I used to be productive? Was that just a dream I once had?)
But if you just got here, here’s a link to read these recaps in order, from the beginning way back in S1.

Title: Out of Time: High Time Author: @wickednerdery Fandom: Marvel Pairing/character: Loki x Stark!OC Rating: Mature Summary: “I intend to enjoy this realm to its fullest.” Notes: Continuing my strange little foray into cyberpunk with Loki on a futuristic Earth (after his escapes with the Tesseract in Endgame?). Bits of drug use, mainly, in this one!
Masterlist - Previously
While the brothers are eager to leave, Loki lingers, strolling along The Power Strip with great interest. It was chaotic, more so than the black market even, but thrillingly so. Music and sweet smelling smoke pours from various open doors, beings mingle and crush and drink together with a rowdiness that makes the god smile.
“We should lay low for awhile,” Cyro instructs, then continues. “I’ll go ahead, make sure it’s clear, then send the intel.”
“Nonsense, what in the nine realms for?” Loki dismisses, picking a club at random to enter.
Cyno gives a nod of acknowledgement to his brother, then follows the other. “Because we just jacked what, I’m guessing, are mutant ballerina’s from a major corp. You think they won’t come after them, after us, with everything they’ve got then you’re insane.”
“Possibly.” Loki chuckles, ordering a drink before leaving Cyno to cover it when his mind trick doesn’t work. He slips easily to a recently vacated table and shifts into a form more suited to the crowd of patrons. “But no matter. Now that I’m clear of your petty debt, I intend to enjoy this realm to its fullest.”
"By clubbing?”
“No,” Loki laughs him off. “No, I’m going to finish my drink and then seek out Ms. Stark.”
“She could still be in on this thing, you know?”
“I doubt that.” Anything is possible, of course, but Loki will happily play the odds on this one. “And, either way, now I’ve something for her. Something of interest.”
“Blackmail.”
“Information.”
The man sighs, rather giving up on his anarchist employer. “You keep causing static, they’re gonna pull your plug.”
“I welcome the attempt.” Because ‘they’, whoever they are, would lose. “Now have a drink and relax, for Norns’ sake.”
“No thanks.” Cyno wants out. Out of Loki’s presence, out of the bar, out of The Power Strip...He wants out of it all and into safety, if he can find it.
A dark laugh of amusement escapes the god’s lips as he drinks, eyes following his (former?) employee’s exit. He stays, watching those around him, before two Midgardian beings enter. While his interest starts as merely passing when he catches bits of conversation, and realizes it’s about Ms Stark, he keys in.
Tumblr media
The walls pulsate, the floor rolls, as Hak helps Ana out into open air. She takes a deep breath, but only inhales lingering tainted smoke. There’s a rush, her stomach turns and knees give way before the officer catches her under the arms.
Hak digs into pocket, pulls out a spare mask. “Cover your face, I’ll give you a clarifying tab in the car.” It’ll clear her mind enough to function until the drugs leave her fully and she crashes out.
She slips the fabric over her nose and mouth, blocking enough smoke not to be re-upped. As they approach the unmarked car Ana sees someone in the crowd that both surprises and confuses her.
“Ana!” Orson calls out, his tone more amused than cross. “I’ve been looking all over for you, where have you been?”
“Where you found me,” Ana slurs her counter. “...Whoever you are...Not Orson.”
“Yes, well...” Orson’s chuckle is close-lipped before he carries on. “I think it’s time we get you back home.”
“I was just taking her,” Hak offers.
Orson’s eyes flick to the other without recognition, then back to Ana. “I can take her, you should return to your...usual tasks.”
Something about Ana’s Head of Security’s behavior is off, but Hak can’t pinpoint what, exactly, it is. “Okay...” He looks to Ana. “Let me know when you’re home.”
There’s a hum of a reply when she wavers from one into the other’s arms. She instantly realizes something is wrong; this is not Orson. “I...I’m gonna be sick!” She stumbles away, retches and vomits up red from Lace. She digs into pockets, finds her own clarifying tab, and sets it against her wrist to be absorbed. It’s for emergencies, overdoses, but she needs to be clearheaded enough to self-protect. At least until she’s sure this person isn’t an outright threat. Ana returns steadier, but the supposed Orson takes her arm nevertheless. “I’m fine.”
“Nonsense, Stark.” His grip tightens as she tries to pull away, he stares directly into her eyes. “Just let me help.”
Now she knows who it is, but says nothing except to concede, say goodbye to Hak. By the time they are exiting The Strip she’s reactivated her ID coding and discreetly begun charging her shock bracelet. “Where are we going, Loki?”
The facade of Orson fades with a laugh; Loki grins. “Your home, of course.”
“I’m not bringing you to my home.”
“Oh, but you should.”
“Why’s that?”
“Because I’ve important information for you, and I imagine yours is the safest place to share it.”
Ana looks the god over carefully, wary. “What kind of information?”
“The important kind,” he smirks back, unwilling to budge.
“Tony, get a secure car. return the bike”
Tumblr media
Ana is passable as sober by the time they arrive, which makes the news all the more enraging. “Are you sure?” Osborn was a weaselly, money-grubbing, power-hungry, asshole not to be trusted...but this went beyond that.
“What purpose do I have to lie?”
“You’re the god of lies.” And that was just the most obvious one. “Where are the girls now?”
“With their brother.”
“The Yak samurai?”
“Apparently.”
She nods, thinking, which is proving difficult in her comedown. “Do you...have any proof?”
“Besides the girls?”
“You don’t have the girls.”
“I could get them back.”
Her eyes lose focus a moment, she waivers, but when Loki moves towards her she puts up hand to stop him. “It’s fine, thank you.” She takes a deep breath, straightens. “You said you had help, from someone inside, what about him?”
“Cyro, I don’t know his last name, and his brother, Cyno, yes. I might be able to get Cyno, but I imagine the one you want will be less inclined to speak.”
“NDA?”
“What?”
“He signed an NDA, a Non-Disclosure Agreement?”
“Oh, I’ve no idea,” Loki dismisses. “But he’s not very fond of me.”
"Can’t imagine why after you blew up his cushy job for a major corporation.”
“Corrupt major corporation and I merely aided him in doing the right thing.”
“Right...” Ana smirks. “Well, thank you for the information. I’ll have my people look into it.”
“You don’t believe me.” He can sense it.
“If I took you at face value, I’d be an idiot.”
“Fair enough.” He smirks, steps closer.
“And I’m not sure why you’re even coming to me in the first place.”
“The goodness of my own heart?”
Ana snorts. “Don’t insult my intelligence.” He wants something, she’s just not sure what.
“Perhaps, if I can get the brothers to speak to you, that would be helpful?” Loki switches topics rather than risk being pressed for an answer.
“It would.” She’ll still have them and everything Loki’s claimed thus far vetted, but it will help to hear their version of the story. “Now, if you’ll excuse me -”
“Oh, but I would like to speak with you more.” He’s no intention of leaving now that he’s gotten in.
“I...” Dizziness and nausea takes hold in a final wave, then leaves her with the deep exhaustion of a crash. “...Just...” She lowers herself onto the couch. “Need to rest.” Her yawn is long, wide, and body slumps forward to rest her head on a throw pillow. “...Hold on...”
Loki watches with a mix of confusion and amusement as the woman falls fast asleep before him. “Well, that was rude.” He heads over, examines her slumbering form. “...But interesting...” The god crouches to meet her eye line, then reaches out to tuck a bit of blond hair behind her ear. “What an odd creature you are, Ms Stark.”
Tumblr media
Because it’s been so long...Hak is Hak Barton, descendant of Clint “Hawkeye” Barton - he’s police and human - “Tony” is her AI (like JARVIS and FRIDAY with the OG Tony Stark), and Orson is (when not actually Loki like in this piece) is Ana’s mutant head of security. All else you’ll just have to go back to prior pieces to figure it all out, lol! But, haha, yeah, Loki decided this was the best way to get closer to Ana...I honestly don’t think he felt he had anything else that might hold her attention long enough. So now the fox might be in the henhouse, as it were, given Ana just passed out with him still there, LOL!
Gifs made off ones I found on Google, then combined myself.

Zeke and Eren : Contrasts
With the events of SnK 120, it seems like the Jaeger brothers dynamic will largely make way for whatever the endgame Isayama has in mind. In this Chapter we see how much Zeke and Eren contradict each other. Their different upbringings are directly accountable for their difference in approaching the problem of the Eldians. However, there's more to this. Whatever the brothers stand for, whatever they desire and whatever their significance in the narrative- everything is in contrast. So, this is just an analysis on their contradictory personalities and ideologies and how it led to the surfacing of two polar opposite conclusions regarding the fate of the Eldians.
• Eren stands for love. As is evident from chapter 120, Eren was a dearly loved child. Carla had earliersaid "he's already special because he is born into the world". Zeke said, "looks like the second child was loved". Grisha loved Eren to the point where he was even ready to forget his duty as a Restorationist.
Tumblr media
But, let's look at Zeke's past. Was he loved? NO. His parents only ever burdened him, and even though he refers to Xavier as his father-figure, all that Xaver did was impose his own nihilism on Zeke. That was not love, that was just the making of another war criminal. Zeke and Dina hated the Marleyans and Xaver hated the whole world. So basically Zeke is someone who grew up learning hate.
• Eren stands for life and hope. When I say, Eren stands for life I mean how much he values life. He'd never support a plan that means ending all Eldians because he was born into the world and therefore values the process of birth and life above all else.
Tumblr media
Also, I believe this is why he was placed in front of the Coordinate, that is basically all the lives of the Eldians [Paths] connected together. The Coordinate therefore directly alludes to the Tree of Life in Norse mythology, which signifies the cycle of life.
Tumblr media
As long as there is life there is hope. Throughoutut the series, Eren is stated to be the "hope of mankind" and he carries out whatever is requisite of him believing that. Eren, when he inherited Grisha's memories, heard Eren Kruger talking of the cycle of hatred and how he hoped for the future generation to learn love, breaking the cycle. Eren's hope for the future is further confirmed in SnK 120 with his disapprobation of Zeke's plans.
Tumblr media
Now, coming to Zeke, he stands for death and despair. He was directly responsible for wiping off almost the entirety of the Survey Corps. His spinal fluid is stated to be responsible for wiping out entire villages overnight. We see that happening in Ragako. Even Levi states how Zeke doesn't care for life. Zeke's disapproval of the importance of birth and life can be traced back to his grooming by Xaver. All that this questionable father-figure taught Zeke was how trivial and unworthy life is. The whole idea of euthanisation was ingrained into Zeke as perfectly normal. How then can we expect him to know the importance of life? Also, Zeke has been exposed to despair since the very beginning given his parent's negligence towards him, his inability to keep up with the others during training, and most importantly, Xaver's horrifying nihilism.
Tumblr media
No wonder his whole attitude towards life is one of despair. Zeke thinks Eldians and the whole world will always be at despair too and only death can give them relief. Zeke completely negates any hope for the future to the extent where he doesn't even want Eldians to have a future. Unlike Eren, the ideas of freedom, love and hope are alien to Zeke who grew up in a repressive, pessimistic environment where he is skeptical about any future that is not blighted by war.
• Eren stands for free will. He was groomed by Levi in a way that he has the freedom to follow his own will. In Eren's formative years, he was always advised by Levi to make decisions on his own and to trust his own strength. Levi acknowledged his love for freedom and encouraged him to make firm choices that he won't regret. During the Uprising Arc, Levi left it on Eren to make a choice and he came to a conclusion on his own by deciding to trust his own strength. In the Marley arc, Eren did whatever he deemed fit even going against orders. Eren decides on his own. This is the ability he developed thanks to his sort of father-figure, Levi.
Zeke, on the other hand, was groomed by Xaver who prevailed on him the improbability of ever achieving freedom as they're biologically linked with the Founder.
Tumblr media
Contrasted to Levi, who put full faith on Eren and invested on him to save humanity, Xaver never had any faith on Zeke. From the beginning he was convinced that Eldians were beyond help and that even Zeke cannot liberate them in any way other than just erasing them off the face of Earth forever. Zeke, as a child, didn't get the freedom or opportunity to develop his own will like Eren. Even though he thought he was relieved from the brain washing of his parents, he only signed up for another sort of brain washing under Xaver's guidance. Xaver gaslighted a young, naive Zeke and made a cold, killing machine out of him who holds little to no regard for life. Zeke is always drawing him in when talking about Euthanasia. It almost seems like the conclusion Zeke reached is not inspired from free will, but is rather an outcome of Xaver's cynicism.
• Eren stands for freedom. Eren is free to decide on his own but his idea of freedom doesn't end there. He wants freedom not for himself, but for his whole race, for the world and even for Ymir Fritz as we can see him genuinely feeling sorry for her.
Tumblr media
To him, freedom is a fundamental right of everyone and he must make sure that everyone realizes this right. And to that end, he will even behave rudely with his friends. Also, Eren confronting Mikasa kind of had a good outcome in that she decided to stop centering her life around Eren. Eren wants her to live and decide for herself, to move on from idealising him to an oppressive extent.
Zeke, however, stands for enslavement. He's a slave to a lot of things and therefore his thoughts too are shaped along that line. There's no direct allusion to this but, him not being able to move on from his past is self-explanatory. Zeke is not free in the sense that he still can't let go of Grisha's faulty parenting. Everything he relies on has to do with his past. He holds little to no consideration for present events. On the other hand, Eren held himself responsible for the death of the former Levi squad, but he let go of that with time. As a boy, he raved on about exterminating Titans, but he let go of that when he learned about the truth. He wanted to kill Reiner brutally, wanted to kill everyone living past the sea, but with time he grew past these feelings and accepted reality. Eren does not live in self-denial, he has been disillusioned more than often but, he had moved forward each time accepting reality. But, coming to Zeke we have a character who is a slave to the past and is extremely delusional- delusional to the point where he just cannot bring himself to accept the fact that Eren has not been brainwashed, that Zeke is not after all an entirely shitty person and that there may just be an alternative to the horrible idea of euthanising Eldians. He projects his own trauma on the world and just as he cannot save himself, just as he cannot let go of his scarred past, he believes a similar fate awaits all Eldians, i.e., they cannot let go of their past atrocities. He is chained to his past and believes the world is too. This is why he develops a negative saviour complex where he thinks he can set Eldians free only by denying them any probable future.
Tumblr media
Another thing to remember is that Zeke's driving force is primarily his belief that humanity is enslaved to the fate of waging wars and is at fault just for being born. This directly contradicts Eren's belief that everyone is free from the moment they are born.
Thoughts on the aftermath : Zeke and Eren are both vested with the responsibility of all Eldians. Their contradictory personalities led them to arrive at different conclusions regarding the problem of their race. So, which of them will prevail in the end? It remains to be seen. But, with the way the plot has progressed, it can be said that the future generation will survive. Eren Kruger asserted the importance of loving someone so that the cycle of hate is broken in the future; Gabi and Falco represent the future generation and Falco's confession of love and marriage is more than hinting at a future where the cycle of life persists. Long before this, after the Serum bowl, when Levi gave Armin the serum, the end note affirmed the need of passing on responsibilities to the next generation. The next generation is important, the future is essential. Also SnK 120 established that because of Paths the concept of time (or linearity of time) is often lost what with Grisha being able to see the futuristic Zeke.
Tumblr media
So it can be safely deduced that the future can influence the past. This has happened before too with Kruger talking about Mikasa and Armin and Eren waking up from his dream of the future. The influence and impact of the future is established time and again in SnK, so one can assume that the future generation will survive.
But then what's to become of Zeke? This is pure speculation but a change of heart could be a possibility. Zeke is now officially the powerful villain™️ with him having greater control in both Paths realms and in the real world. Eren could have something up his sleeve but after providing this much insight into Zeke's sad history, (not to mention how intriguing his whole character arc is) it's unlikely that Isayama would just make Eren defeat/kill him. Rather, perhaps Zeke would be redeemed. Zeke's love for Eren can bring about his potential redemption. The Jaeger brothers contrast each other in every step but when Zeke met Eren, he found love. Even now, when he can do whatever he wants, he seeks his brother's validation. A character who grew up learning hate and despair has finally found love and hope. Zeke has a saviour complex and wants to save Eren but ironically, Eren was the one who saved Zeke. It is because of Eren that Zeke understands sibling love. Ever since his encounter with Eren, we find him saying he 'understands' Colt's feelings towards Falco. Maybe, in a similar way, Zeke will gradually come to value life too and give up on euthanasia? Also, in this panel we see how Eren is sort of confidently calling Zeke to see the next memory.
Tumblr media
Just a guess here, but maybe he believes it will be Zeke's empathetic awakening? However, with Isayama saying he wants to hurt the readers, things can take a really ugly turn. Even Eren's death flags are close [I'm not crying]. To sum it up, killing off Zeke would be a waste and in the aftermath, him surviving to repent for his sins would fit into the whole gray morality theme of SnK. If Eren and his memories can bring about some positive change in Zeke, it'll help Zeke's character arc reach a proper conclusion. It will also resolve the conflict between the Jaeger brothers and conceivably bring forth a reconciliation between the hero and the villain which'd further highlight the subliminal moral ambiguity in the heart of SnK.

Doctor Who - ‘An Unearthly Child’ Review
Tumblr media
(aka 100,000 B.C., The Tribe of Gum, The Stone Age, or The Paleolithic Age)
Two teachers follow a mysterious student into a junkyard, spawning multiple generations of sci-fi geeks.
Season 1, Serial A Starring William Hartnell as the Doctor With William Russell (Ian), Jacqueline Hill (Barbara) and Carole Ann Ford (Susan) Written by Anthony Coburn and C.E. Webber Directed by Waris Hussein Produced by Verity Lambert
Episodes and Broadcast Dates:
An Unearthly Child – 23 Nov 1963
The Cave Of Skulls – 30 Nov 1963
The Forest Of Fear – 7 Dec 1963
The Firemakers – 14 Dec 1963
Plot Summary
At the end of another day at London’s Coal Hill School, history teacher Barbara Wright and science teacher Ian Chesterton compare notes about an enigmatic student, Susan Foreman. Her knowledge of history and science surpasses their own, but is also awkwardly unaware of the ins-and-outs of contemporary life. They trail her to her given address, 76 Totters Lane, only to find a scrapyard wherein sits a rather incongruous Police Box emitting an eerie hum. They encounter Susan’s grandfather, who brusquely shoos them away. But when Susan’s voice is heard from inside, they push past him into the Police Box and find themselves in a vast futuristic chamber, much larger on the inside. The old man is furious at their intrusion. Susan explains that they are exiles from another world and another time, and the Police Box is their ship, the TARDIS. The old man is paranoid and irascible, certain that the teachers will expose their secret, and despite Susan’s panicked pleas he activates the TARDIS, leaving 60’s London behind.
The quartet find themselves in the Stone Age, and are soon abducted by a tribe of primitive humans. There is a power struggle for control of the tribe between Za, son of the late elder, and the outsider Kal, focused on the secret of making fire. When the old man announces he can make fire, they become pawns in the struggle. Along the way, Ian and Barbara introduce the tribe to concepts of mercy and helpfulness, that in ‘their tribe,’ the firemaker is the least powerful person, and that one tyrant is not as strong as a unified collective. This lesson is lost on the old man; when Za pursues them through the forest and is attacked by a wild beast, he is perfectly willing to kill the wounded man to help them escape. Ultimately they make fire for the tribe, Za kills Kal, and the travelers escape to the TARDIS.
It is made clear that Susan’s grandfather, who is known as the Doctor, cannot control the navigational systems of the TARDIS, and may never be able to return Ian and Barbara home. They arrive at their next destination and go out to explore. They do not notice the TARDIS’s radiation meter inching into the danger zone...
Analysis and Notes
-- Episode One’s viewership was quite low – possibly due to news coverage of President Kennedy’s assassination the day before, possibly due to a number of regional power cuts – so the BBC granted a virtually unprecedented re-broadcast immediately prior to Episode Two. More people saw the repeat broadcast than the initial one.
-- Episode One was a re-write and re-shoot of the un-broadcast pilot episode, which was beset by technical difficulties and featured an even harsher characterization of the Doctor.
--Most of the principle guest cast would appear in future serials: Derek Newark (Za) in Inferno, Althea Charleton (Hur) in The Time Meddler, Jeremy Young (Kal) in Mission to the Unknown, and Eileen Way (Old Woman) in The Creature from the Pit.
Okay, all you Smith-heads, Tennant worshipers and Capaldians (all three of you, myself included), listen up. The sci-fi institution you know and love originated over a half century ago, right here. Before the action figures, the magazines, the thousands of fansites, the DVD’s, the convention circuit, the minisodes, and all the flood of BBC Enterprises swag, there was An Unearthly Child. And in some cases, it looks and feels very much like the show you’re watching now; there’s a big blue (well, dark gray) box called the TARDIS that flies through time and space, and it makes the same wheezy noise as it takes off and lands. There’s a mysterious central character called the Doctor and a handful of travelling companions. But there are also enormous differences.
In the current series, the TARDIS can land anywhere it wants to. But initially the central concept of the Classic Era was the TARDIS’s unreliability. This meant that when the Doctor takes off with Barbara and Ian on board at the end of episode one, there’s virtually no chance of getting them home again. In future serials where the Doctor and crew need to get to a specific place, they have to hitch a ride.
The early days of the show were a sharp contrast from the ethos displayed in the upcoming Series Nine catchphrase, “I’m the Doctor. I save people.” In most cases, they landed in a certain place or time, got separated from the TARDIS, and spent the rest of the series more focused on Not Dying and/or Not Changing History than they were about liberating oppressed humanoids or saving Earth from alien invasion. And especially in this opening serial, the only person the Doctor feels obliged to save is himself.
Having never been companions by choice, Barbara and Ian’s primary goal throughout their time on the TARDIS was to get home again. Even when they weren’t so much traveling companions as kidnapping victims, this meant getting back to the TARDIS whenever they were separated from it, and keeping the Doctor – their kidnapper – safe at all times since he was the only person who could operate it. Ultimately they do get home again, but end up using a slightly more reliable Dalek time capsule to do it, and we never quite learn how they explain their two-year absence to the Coal Hill headmaster.
And we have to assume they left no significant others behind. Because if there’s one consistent theme amongst the TARDIS’s early classic era companions, it’s that they have no backstories or families or home life that’s disrupted when they meet the Doctor. They’re orphans, bachelors, and free agents. No room for outside domestic drama on the TARDIS.
As for the actual story:
I can’t help but fall in step with the Received Wisdom that the first episode is classic and the remaining three are comparatively mediocre. That said, the Stone Age episodes are very noteworthy. The initial concept for the series was that science fiction and historical stories would balance each other – thus the need for a history teacher and a science teacher. The historical stories would follow the format established here; the TARDIS crew gets separated from the ship, and after a few cycles of capture-escape-recapture where they encounter historical figures or crucial historical events, manage to escape to the TARDIS without getting killed or dramatically changing history.
And the Doctor couldn’t be further removed from how we come to know him now. Selfish, paranoid, and bad-tempered, over-protective of Susan, a kidnapper, a would-be murderer, a refugee rather than a traveler, he’s a quintessential anti-hero, and if it weren’t for the fact that he was the only one who could pilot the TARDIS, odds are they’d boot him out. It’s his dealing with Barbara and Ian that over time gives him a moral compass, either making him a heroic figure, or re-making him one after whatever as-yet-undetermined incident caused him to flee.
The Stone Age tribe is surprisingly multi-dimensional. They’re not ignorant, just uneducated. The oldest among them are fearful of new technology (i.e. fire). The savage conditions in which they live, where death lurks around every corner, render concepts like tenderness, kindness, and democracy as luxuries. You may just have to grit your teeth as the social liberalism is delivered with a side of colonialism; the well-dressed white bourgeois travelers drop into the jungle like the Galactic Peace Corps to teach the dirty savages how to live better. Also a dash of sexism as the girl – named, appropriately enough, Hur – exists as the prize to be awarded to either Kal or Za.
It’s evident that the BBC wanted this program to succeed. Even though they put the show in the young and relatively inexperienced hands of producer Verity Lambert and director Waris Hussein, possibly so they could be scapegoats for the program’s potential failure, they allowed the pilot episode to be re-tooled and re-filmed, and they re-broadcast Episode One immediately prior to Episode Two.
As this is the very first serial, it’s worthy to note which concepts have stayed etched in granite over a half-century and which have been more malleable (if not rejected entirely):
The Doctor’s Name – Susan only refers to him as “Grandfather.” Ian recalls, before they meet, that Susan’s grandfather is “a Doctor or something.” Since the junkyard’s front door reads I.M. FOREMAN, SCRAP MERCHANT, and Susan’s given surname is Foreman, he calls him “Dr. Foreman” in episode two, to which the old man replies, “Huh? Doctor Who? What is he talking about?” strongly suggesting that “Foreman” was never their name. Does one require a PhD to run a junkyard? Or are they squatters, with Susan adopting the name on the door? If so, whatever happened to I.M. Foreman? He never explicitly instructs Ian or Barbara as to how he wishes to be addressed, and basically adopts the title “The Doctor” by default.
The TARDIS – Susan claims to have made up the name of the TARDIS as an acronym for Time And Relative Dimension(s) In Space, as if this TARDIS was the only one in existence. For most of the first season, they refer to the TARDIS simply as “The Ship.” In episode two, the Doctor notes that the external appearance of the ship is supposed to blend in with its surroundings (though the term “Chameleon Circuit” would not be coined for over a decade), suggesting this is the first time it has failed; with rare exceptions, it would never function again. And the most pivotal concept about the TARDIS is that the Doctor cannot navigate it properly. Either he never learned, or he forgot, or the mechanism is faulty; it’s never explicitly stated, but once they leave London 1963, there’s no guarantee they’ll ever get back.
Their Origins – No Time Lords, no Gallifrey, these terms don’t appear for years to come. The details they give in the first episode are sketchy. They’re exiles, wanderers in time, cut off from their own planet. No mention is ever given of Susan’s parents (i.e. the Doctor’s offspring, presumably). They’re hiding on Earth, and have lived incognito for several months; from what and why are never stated.
Been Here Before – Barbara lends Susan a very thick book about the French Revolution, which Susan reads in a split second and remarks, “That’s not how it happened!” Though no mention of a prior visit was ever made later in Season One when they land in Robespierre’s post-revolutionary Paris. The gift of superhuman speed-reading appears again in the New Series’ reboot, Rose.
In Summation
You could be forgiven if you only watch the first episode, but what an episode it is! It’s as noteworthy and epoch-shifting a debut as the Beatles’ Please Please Me eight months earlier (or their follow-up, With The Beatles, issued the day before). Yet despite creator Sydney Newman’s directive of “No Bug Eyed Monsters!”, the program’s watershed moment was yet to come, and British popular culture would never be the same.
Rating: 3 out of 4 epoch-shifting moments in British pop culture.
John Geoffrion balances a career in hospital fundraising with semi-pro theatre gigs, and watches way too much Doctor Who and Britcoms in between. He'll create an author page after he puts up a few more reviews.

Neo-West has grown and evolved wonderfully, thanks to the science of Capsule Corps. and their many other branches spread across the world. The city is thriving and all is safe. Or, so it seems. Bulma knows that the Dark Alleys were built for the seedy and greedy, but she never knew to what extent. Once she was old enough to understand, she made a choice; she would bring down the Dark Alleys, and more specifically "The Icejin", for good. +++ Vegeta's mind is usually only set to one thought. Survive. No matter the cost, no matter how much you want to stay down, get up and survive. It had gotten him this far, so it shouldn't fail him now. All he cares about is working back what is owed to The Boss, to Frieza, in order to set his family free. +++ Both paths collide as the two race against time, monsters, and machines. After all, the Dark Alleys were built for people like them to die.

Nuclear Power Market: Industry Analysis and forecast 2019-2027
Nuclear Power Market was valued at US$ XX Bn in 2019 and is expected to reach US$ XX Bn by 2027, at a CAGR of 3.20% from 2019-2027. The report has analyzed the drivers, restraints, and challenges facing the Nuclear Power Market. The increase in need for clean energy and reducing fossil power stock are motivating governments and major power companies to finance in the nuclear power market. The worldwide nuclear power market is estimated to develop at a remarkable charge on report of rising need for power that could satisfy the demand created by added infrastructure framework without carbon releases or unfavourably influencing the environment in added remarkable methods. Market Dynamics Quick population development along with enhanced situation has developed in an increased power need from households. Increasing need for a diversity of consequences has operated industrial growth in different nations, thus rising power demands from the production zones. As of 2020, nuclear energy gives over 12% of the global power, and on top of 22% of the power in OECD nations. Technological developments executed in day to day projects have developed power need over the past. Increasing clean energy need combined with consuming crude oil preserved is estimated to increase power worry. These worries are motivating power industries and governments to finance need that could achieve the demand created by increasing infrastructure framework without having an unfavourable influence on the environment. As per the World Nuclear Associations, recently, there are above 435 functional energy plant around 30 nations in the globe. Over 72 reactors are below manufacturing stage in 14 nations. The industry observed the highest atomic reactor manufacturing rate in 2020. Increasing acquisition of nuclear automation as a workable possibility of crude oil for energy creation is estimated to operate the nuclear power market over the forecasted period. In spite of having such powerful supporters for development, the substantial harm created by nuclear reactor misfortune has increased alarm about the security of nuclear power. Due to disagreements covering nuclear energy plants some nations, especially some in Europe, have taken the resolution to terminate nuclear power. Market Segmentation Nuclear Power Market is segregated by Reactor type (PWR, PHWR, BWR, HTGR, and FBR), by Equipment (Island Equipment and Auxiliary Equipment), and by Region (North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa, and Latin America). Because of the rising worry for the protection the nuclear energy plants, drivers produces influence water atomic reactors which is the secured of all the obtainable types. Moreover, the PWR reactor stops water from getting polluted with the dangerous substances safeguarding environmental harms. There are 300 PWRs, with a volume of 283.97 Gigawatts Electric. U.S has 64 PWRs with a Capacity of 64.75 GWe, accompanied by China and France with 58, of 63.14 GWe and 45 PWR, 44.15 GWe volumes. Since PWR needs a well-built channel and an enormous coercion to make sure that the extremely pressurized water decreased at a flowing state when comforting excessive temperatures, making the building of the PWR expensive. Thereby, increasing need for PWRs is estimated to have a notable influence on the nuclear energy market throughout the predicted period. Furthermore, the approaching projects in the Asia Pacific zone mostly in China is estimated to be influenced by the PWR, taking into consideration the reality that more than 90% of the approaching plants will have the PWR type of atomic reactor. Apart from unfinished manufacturing, numerous PWRs are becoming organized for manufacturing, throughout 2020, therefore, operating the nuclear energy plant market throughout the predicted period. Regional Analysis On the basis of region, Nuclear Power Market is divided into North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa, and Latin America. The Asia Pacific is estimated to be the dominant region in the Nuclear Power Market. It is one of the developing nations in the globe where power creation volume and particularly nuclear energy are increasing remarkably. In Asia, there are around 130 functional nuclear energy reactors, out of which 36 are unaccomplished and sectors arranging to construct an extra 70-80. Significantly more are suggested. The Chinese government is designing to attain 58 GW of nuclear volume by 2020-2021, and 150 GW by 2030, and has organized new assembling plan for nuclear energy, and the powerful activity channel nourish the viewpoint for the nuclear energy market. The Indian government is devoted to increasing its nuclear energy volume as part of its enormous infrastructure growth plan.
