Executive Cucumber's thoughts on the Bad Batch: Season 3x06 and 3x07 (I'm pretty sure I'm formatting this differently every time. Oh well)
Okay, there's a subject I'm going to have to postpone until the end of the post because I want all my thoughts on that to be together: the main operative clone. And the rest might be slightly out of order. I'm also doing this before I see anyone else's thoughts, just so we get the pure version.
Let's go!
I honestly thought that Senator Singh and Riyo were dead meat. But no, they're fine because REX IS COOLER THAN ANYONE. Ugh that man. Freaking throwing the grenade back at him.
Clones are beautiful. That is all.
THAT'S THAT ONE PLACE FROM THE OG CLONE WARS MOVIE!!! TETH!!!
Howzer I love you but if you touch Crosshair we will be having words.
I am actually really proud of Crosshair and his restraint this episode. He could have been really cutting to Howzer.
OMEGA WITH THE TOOTHPIIIIICKS and Hunter is jealouuuus
EDIT: ECHO AND THE CROSSBOW HE'S SO SWEET
WHAT DID THEY DO TO YOU CROSSHAIR
It's really nice to see normal clones being normal again. (Too bad it doesn't last)
There's something up with Omega. I'm not going to lie, I think that she and Rex are going to plan to get her captured in order to track her back to Tantiss.
HOWZER STOP DISTRUSTING CROSSHAIR THIS MOMENT
I appreciate that Hunter doesn't seem to distrust Crosshair during this point.
...they really shouldn't have brought that operative back.
Rex is considering stealing Omega, I swear. I love that he gets down to her level.
WOOOOOOOOOOOLFFE (Plo would be so disappointed in you)
It's...odd to see these normal troopers with him.
It's also strange that he cannot comprehend that the clones could be traitors at first.
STOP DYING YOU BEAUTIFUL REGS
'She only bites half the time' I'm pretty sure Omega is lying here but I don't care.
CROSSHAIR IS SUCH A WORRIED DAD HOLY CRAP. 'Oh, I'm much worse' I LOVE YOU
And this just gives such a little insight into how the Batch was when they were together. I have a feeling that Crosshair was a fusser and a nagger.
And I love how Howzer's natural and correct conclusion is: 'no one evil could love that child.' (Unless you're Nala Se)
Hey, actual candor from Crosshair. I keep saying this is who he always was under it all, but I do think he's healed somewhat, at least towards regs. The healing power of Omega.
'Too bad' I LOVE THIS MAN
STOP DYING REGS
Rex talking down Wolffe reminded me so much of him trying to talk Jesse down. So ow.
Okay, what ROCK have they shoved Wolffe under for the last YEAR??? YES THE EMPIRE WOULD GET RID OF THE CLONES YOU DOG BRAINED IDIOT
(Plo would be proud that you let them go)
...they just killed all of Rex's clones, except Howzer and Gregor. And I have a bad feeling about Howzer. STOP TAKING THINGS FROM REX HASN'T HE LOST ENOUGH???
Okay here we are, at the big topic. Hold onto your pants.
That operative clone. Is. Tech. Because if he is not, they are purposefully using the narrative to deceive us.
I might miss a few things, but that's because I'm up past my bedtime and I've been up too late the last few days.
1. The falling and water parallels. This clone falls a LOT during this episode and dives into a lot of water. He even falls into mist. This time it's to kill and capture his siblings instead of save them.
2. The injury. This clone is hobbling around a lot after his injury, which was immediately reminiscent of Tech's broken leg at the beginning of season 2. Both of them are forcing themselves past their limit to achieve a mission. Specifically with injured legs.
3. General attitude and demeanor. In combination with the stealth and injury, this clone has a more hunched posture. His speech patterns are more formal, though we haven't really heard a lot of other clone operatives talk with their helmets on. But he's also apparently allergic to orders. I first thought that he'd be out of the chain of command, but they would have told Wolffe that he wasn't in charge of the operative if that were the case. Or the operative would have straight up told him 'I don't take orders from you' instead of staring awkwardly at him. Instead he runs off and does his own thing. While injured. Not to mention the buttons on his gauntlet. The other clone operatives don't have those.
4. The cybernetic legs. Now we don't know for sure if Tech would have cybernetic legs, but it seems likely for a severely injured trooper. And when Crosshair is looking at the heat signature, you can see that his legs are blue instead of yellow or red. No heat. Not organic.
5. What he says to Crosshair. 'You could have been one of us.' 'You chose the wrong side.' Yes, he's talking about Crosshair resisting the re-education. But flip it on its head real quick. 'You could have been one of us. One of the Bad Batch.' 'You chose the wrong side. The Empire.' Those lines very easily have double meanings.
6. An interesting one is when he starts moving rocks after the explosion. Why would he do that? Why not immediately go find another way in? He's moving only the smaller rocks. There's a large one in the way that he couldn't move himself. And he doesn't get the rest of the troopers to come move it when they arrive. He almost seems confused.
Like he's somewhere else after an explosion, having to move rocks. Like in the Crossing.
I know that this hardly seem like iron clad evidence. But in the language of story telling, it's practically screaming in our faces.
And I'm so glad he's back. I missed him. He won't be himself for a while, but I legitimately believe we'll get one last fight with the Batch all together. Because brain washing is a heck of a lot easier to fix than being dead.
My sister is doing the good work and creating a tik token about it, and I'll probably share it here when she's finished.
(We're getting the episode 'Identity Crisis ON MY BIRTHDAY and so help me if that's about Tech)
Honestly I thought I'd be more excited, but I spent the entire two episodes forcing myself into not having expectations and also I might be in shock.

Horrid ramblings related to the tlok rewrite I have in my head. Book 1, Air but with the Red Lotus as primary antagonists.
So my thoughts are that in this AU, the airbending would come from Vaatu (somehow) I like the idea of Raava and Vaatu being these very eldritchy beings that are able to manupulate the world around them. Raava sacrificed this trait in order to merge with the Avatar, but Vaatu is stil lovecraftian and well
With Harmonic Convergence nearing, perhaps Vaatu is able to exude more influence on the world. It would be interesting to see unexplained events happen more frequently as he gains power.
The Red Lotus are on board with freeing Vaatu, as they were in canon, and Vaatu lets airbending back into the world, knowing or maybe just hoping that Zaheer would get airbending and get his jailbird shit together
I think it would be a fun mystery. No one exactly knows why people started airbending all of a sudden ans this is a mystery that we slowly piece together as the show progresses.
Korra hears about airbenders popping up out of nowhere and runs away to Republic City, since she sees this as a perfect opportunity to become the Avatar she was meant to be. At this time the Red Lotus is breaking out and that adds to the tension as we see how woefully unprepared Korra is for this bunch of assassins.
I think it would be interesting to see Korra struggle and fail at airbending while there are randos all over the world getting airbending for free. She can bond with Bumi (who I'm not sure about giving airbending to) lol
I'd have the first few episodes going on in Republic City, but then have Korra and co travel in search of airbenders.
I'm not sure about keeping the pro bending storyline. I know how important it was to the og show, however it would make the storyline incredibly cluttered.
I'd want to highlight the bending brother's connections to the triads too, so I might make them somehow affiliated with the Triple Threats. But then betray them and join Korra in her travels. Because staying in RC after pissing off the triads would essentially be a death sentence.
If the brothers were still in Probending, I'd take inspiration from the storyline of Republic City hustle with the rigged matches. Have the brothers be forced to win/lose depending on how the triad places its bets. Have them be forced to deliberately throw matches cuz the triad invested in the opposing team.
I'm not fully sure how to factor Asami into this, but I had a thought of Hiroshi (who is still an equalist agent but that won't matter until B3) graciously donating resources into the search for airbenders. In order to buy himself into the Avatar's good graces and to have a direct line to the newly emerging airbenders for future evil plans.
Whether Asami is in on her father's plans or not, she acts as captain/pilot of the airship and quickly befriends the rest of the Krew. Gay ensues.
I'd change around the pacing a little, maybe move the Beifong family drama to the later seasons or at least not focus on it as much. But these are minute details I don't really have time to focus on. Maybe introduce Wu earlier. That sorta stuff.
Yeah um. Please don't let this become an actual project. I don't have the strength to write a fic like this. But the concept is tempting. Please tell me your thoughts. I'm super curious about them

A mistake I keep making:
Going on 911 OG Twitter.
The discourse around Tommy is so annoying. When he first showed back up, I honestly didn't remember him. But I just rewatched season 2 and remembered why I didn't remember him: he was mean to hen and chimney and I don't abide by that!
But also:
Across three episodes, Tommy goes on his own little character arc. It's pretty incredible because he actually doesn't even have that many lines. When Chimney joins the 118, the racist and sexist captain has a hold on the general attitude of the place. That doesn't excuse any of Tommy's behavior but it does explain it. I'm not even going to factor in season 7's knowledge that he's closeted here since he wasn't originally written in these episodes to be. But he does adhere to the hyper masculine atmosphere that captain Gerard has created. So he treats Hen and Chimney -- two minority characters in a very white, very heterosexual atmosphere -- like they are the problems. There is an added layer as Eli explains to Chimney that they don't want to get close to probies until knowing they can hack it. Is it an excuse? Again, no. But it is an explanation.
By the end of Chimney Begins, which takes place in 2005-2006, Tommy extends an olive branch to chimney by answering Chimney's questions he was asking Tommy in order to bond with him.
But it's hard to change your entire self over night. So when Hen shows up a few years later, Tommy still is following captain Gerard's lead in a lot of things. He doesn't stand up for or acknowledge Hen's presence in any meaningful way. But after Hen makes some remarkable saves and stands up for herself in front of the entire 118, something changes for Tommy. He actually goes up to her and commends her to her face. And while it's not explicitly stated, it's heavily implied that every member of the 118 complained about captain Gerard on Hen's behalf, including Tommy.
And by the time Bobby Begins Again happens, Tommy is more friends with Hen and Chimney than he is with Sal, who he was friends with first. Bobby Begins Again features a long montage of everyone working together, getting drinks together, and celebrating each other. Tommy, hen, and chimney are clearly fine with each other. The fact that an on screen "I'm sorry" is never uttered from Tommy doesnt mean he hasn't apologized. There are many years between these episodes -- he could have said it sometime off screen. But textually, he literally extends olive branches to both Chimney and Hen in their Begins episodes, and chimney and Hen both clearly take it as an apology. Plus, these three episodes take place over the course of about 10-13 years maybe ... That is a lot of time of those three getting drinks together and making bets together. They are friends. Or at the very least, friendly colleagues. Which is why chimney keeps in contact with Tommy, and why Tommy and hen are glad to see each other in 7x03. Sorry that you need explicit dialogue for character development to happen, but not everything is going to be written that explicitly. Stories have nuance and subtleties and sometimes "I'm sorry" isn't enough. Commending someone to their face, extending the hand of friendship, and advocating for someone says so much more than an "I'm sorry."
Now, taking into account that Tommy is actually gay, then his actions have an even more understandable explanation. He's hiding, playing into the toxic masculinity of the 118, and the best way to do that is to follow Captain Gerard's example in order to stay hidden. And when Hen stands up for herself, Tommy finds someone to admire.
Taking the scenes of him being a fucking dick (because he is! he's expressing racist and sexist micro aggressions to both Chimney and Hen) out of context by not also acknowledging the scenes we've gotten of all three of them being friends and Tommy apologizing is so annoying. It would be cool if there's an on screen conversation between the 3 of them since we did only get to see their commraderie in montages but not acknowledging the growth of his character just because he kissed buck and not Eddie is getting really tiring.

Lookism Characters Attending a Christmas Party:
(A gift from me to you.💚 Merry Christmas!!)🎄
Tumblr media
Daniel Park: He’d be the life of the party! Pretty boy Daniel was already popular to begin with, so almost everybody would give him presents right when they see him. When he receives a gift from someone, he’d accept them with a smile and a “Merry Christmas!”. However, he’ll eventually have a tower of gifts which will then lead to a whole pile of them. (And Jay to the rescue, would offer to give Daniel a ride home so he can help carry them to Jay’s car once his chauffeur comes to pick him and Joy up from the party. Jay will then help drop them off at his house once the party is over.)
Daniel Park (OG body): Little dude would greet everybody in the party then zoom towards the holiday food. Roasted chicken? “Yes please.” Mashed potatoes? “Heck yeah.” Christmas cake? “Ohhh haven’t had this in my life yet, but I already know it’s going to be a life-changer…” He’d be carrying one-of-each food in his plate to try all of them until he accidentally bumps into Gun at the party (like, physically bump into him), resulting him to restrict Daniel from eating anymore food in order to keep his masterpiece in shape.
Zack Lee: Zack would arrive at the party by escorting Mira with him. They’d both dress up in pajamas, since they both agreed to dress comfy for this year. During the party, Zack would be talking to Mira in front of a fireplace about her spending time with family during the holidays. He’d admire her pretty face under the crackling light of the warm Christmas fire until Mira heard Zoe call for her from a few feet away. Mira told Zack that she’ll be right back and when she left him there at the fireplace, Zack unconsciously looked up until he caught himself staring at a mistletoe hanging above the fireplace frame. His eyes widened in surprise as he felt his face burning, realizing that he could have kissed Mira a second ago if he didn’t look up sooner.
Vasco: The guy would DEFINITELY go all out for Christmas. This man BREATHES the spirit of Christmas, as him and Jace both would show up at the party as a pair. Vasco would be wearing an oversized Santa Claus costume while Jace would dress as a Christmas elf, which would suit him best with his big ears. Vasco would carry a bell around with him, jingling it while booming, “Merry Christmas to you all!” in his Santa voice until Zack gets annoyed and tries to plan a way for him to steal Vasco’s bell to hide it somewhere where he couldn’t find it. (Zack remembers that one time during Vasco’s birthday and still feels guilty about it, but he thought that this situation was different. It was a necessary cause that must be fulfilled and he is willing to take one for the team this time.)
Jay Hong: Jay would show up with Joy to the party, arriving in style with their designer branded clothes. Jay would gift people with expensive imported gifts, such as rare food baskets that could only be found from Europe. However, when it comes to Daniel Park, he’d gift him something nice and thoughtful (and expensive). When he handed Daniel’s gift to him with a smile, he watched Daniel open his gift as he held a rare limited edition Christmas Gucci sweater. Daniel gave Jay a big grin, as he’d say to Jay, “Thanks Jay for always giving me really nice gifts and for being my first friend. I could never ask more from an amazing friend like you. Merry Christmas Jay!”
Mira Kim: Mira wanted to gift everyone something thoughtful and fit for the season so she decided to bring bundles of warm blankets as gifts for everybody for Christmas. She asked Zack to help her carry them with her to the party, and he gladly obliged. He offered to carry all of the big bags of blankets with him so Mira didn’t have to tire herself out by carrying any of them. When they both arrived at the party in their comfy pajamas on, many of their friends greeted them right when they entered the party. However, when they saw Zack behind Mira carrying those big bags over his shoulders and his arms, their worried looks says it all as they all thought, “Poor Zack. He’s been trying so hard all this time…”
Zoe Park: Zoe would have a Christmas livestream during the party, showing off her friends and what they were up to. At the same time, she’d be sticking by OG Daniel for the majority of the time, and when she’d hand her gift to him, she’d record Daniel’s reaction as he opens his gift. Inside the packaging, Daniel would reveal a comfy handmade sweater that Zoe decided to make for him. He’d gratefully thank her for it and when he found out that Zoe made it herself, he’d be impressed by how much time and effort she’d put into making it, resulting her to blush. She learned how to crochet by watching YouTube videos just for the sake of making Daniel’s special Christmas present.
Vin Jin: Vin Jin would show up at the party with Mary Kim wearing matching Santa Claus jumpsuits, rapping a Christmas song that he came up with for the holidays. And when it’s time for gift giving, Vin Jin would gift everyone with his mixtapes while promoting his own music on SoundCloud.
Mary Kim: At the party, Mary will approach Jace Park and say, “Merry Christmas! Let me touch your ears, my little elf.” Jace would gladly let her feel his ears, especially during the festive season. Afterwards, she’ll join the rest of the girls and leave Vin Jin to his usual shenanigans.
Eli Jang: Eli would bring his close family members with him, which was everybody that he holds dear from Hostel. Of course, this man would be styling even during the holidays. He’d be seen wearing a long light brown coat, a cream colored turtleneck sweater underneath, dark brown plaid pants, and black leather boots. When he arrives at the party with the rest of the members of Hostel behind him, people would see him carrying Yenna in his arms, as she’s dressed in a cute snowman costume. (He was hesitant to dress Yenna in it since it was given to her by Tom Lee, but he decided to let her wear it for the party since she did look adorable in it.) Of course, Zack would be the first to greet them as he’d dash towards them, especially to see his beloved “Zami”.
Jake Kim: Jake and the rest of the Big Deal crew would show up in their ugly sweaters for Christmas. He’d definitely gift everyone a Polaroid picture of him dressed in a Santa hat looking back at the camera, showing off his own ass while grinning and holding out a peace sign. At the bottom of each Polaroid picture, his own hand-written signature can be found on it, written with red marker. (When it was time for Jake to give Samuel his present, he’d walk up to him and say, “Merry Christmas bud, here’s a gift from me to you.” As he hands the picture to Samuel, Samuel’s veins would start to pop from his hands. And with a smile he’ll say, “Wow, how thoughtful of you. You know what would look even better? This…” He’d take out his lighter and would set the picture on fire in front of him, still with that menacing smile on his face. Eventually, these two would hug each other for the sake of the festive season in a passive-aggressive way, until their hug turns into a wrestling match.)
Samuel Seo: He will show up to the party, wearing a formal black suit and tie where his chest will, of course, be the center of attention through his tight outfit. When Jake sees him at the party, he would give Samuel an extra ugly sweater for him to wear, in case he wanted to join him and the rest of the Big Deal members. (Samuel declined, but then Jake would be annoying him throughout the night until he decides to put it on for him to shut up about it. Or… he might try and beat up Jake during the process.)
Johan Seong: Johan would show up to the party, dressed in all black but in a more winter-themed outfit, fit for the party. Black Santa Claus hat, while wearing a black and white snowflake patterned long-sleeved crew neck sweater, black ripped jeans, with a set of black combat boots. Little did the rest of his friends know that he’d also bring along his dog, Eden, with him to the party. He would dress Eden up for Christmas, wearing a small adorable Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer costume, which would make all of the girls fawn over Eden once they see her. (*cue Zack crying in the corner of the party as Mira leaves him to go pet Eden and talk to Johan*)
Crystal Choi: She’d be excited to see her friends again from Jaewon High but most importantly, she’d be excited to see OG Daniel again. She’d approach him and say “Merry Christmas Daniel. This is a gift from me to you and I hope you like it.” She’d give Daniel a box wrapped in Christmas-themed wrapping paper with a red bow on it and inside, would be a fancy grey scarf that she had personally bought for him. (Of course, Gun and Goo would be there sticking by her. When Daniel thanks Crystal for the gift and leaves, Goo would tease Crystal and say, “Wow, you got Daniel a present but not us?” And Crystal would point out Goo’s annoying behavior and respond with, “This is why I didn’t get you one in the first place.” And Gun would say, “That’s understandable.”)
Gun Park: Gun would accompany Crystal Choi to the party since Charles Choi advised him to keep her protected in any case that something might happen to her there. He didn’t have anything to do during the holidays, so he accepted the task at hand. While at the party, he caught Daniel Park there and he couldn’t help but want to approach him and ask him to fight him again. However, Goo caught him from the shoulder and with a smug smile, he asked him, “Aren’t you supposed to be doing your job?” With an annoyed look on his face, Gun shook him off and returned back to where he was positioned at, pissed at how Goo always manages to ruin his mood most of the time.
Goo Kim: Goo decides to tag along with Gun and Crystal, hoping that he’d somehow cause some sort of chaos whenever he’s there, just to annoy Gun with some “holiday spirit”. He’d probably chuck a bunch of Christmas ornaments and candy canes at Gun whenever he’s not paying attention to him, but Gun would pay no mind to it at all and would just ignore him. When the party is over and they all finally leave, Goo would purposely walk behind Gun and Crystal, grab a big handful of snow from the ground, and then would throw a mean snowball at Gun’s back. Gun finally cracked and had it with Goo’s bullshit as he decided to make snowballs out of snow, which would then result in an all-out snowball fight. (Crystal would just be standing there, watching them in disappointment until her ride comes to get her, leaving them both there in the snow.)
DG: DG would arrive fashionably late to the party due to his hectic schedule as a k-pop idol. However, he was basically the guy who everybody was waiting for since they heard that he’ll be holding a private concert at the party, singing his best and classic songs. At the end, he’d sing a Christmas song which would be, “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” by Frank Sinatra. He’d sing that song just to promote his Christmas cover of that song, which would soon become a holiday hit. (During the mini concert, Goo would be caught laughing due to how funny he thought of DG just dancing and singing, thrusting his hips and whatnot while performing in front of everyone.) After the concert, he’d be approached by Zoe who was a k-pop fan, who’d ask for a picture and an autograph from him. (She’s a big BTS fan, but she couldn’t help but ask DG for an autograph since this was a rare opportunity for any k-pop fan to get a hold of.)

MY ATLA LIVE ACTION S1E1 THOUGHTS
EP2
First things first, a review without spoilers:
I think it’s fine so far. There’s a few changes here and there that are ultimately just fine that don’t impact the story all that much, but there are also some changes that I’m a little worried about.
The biggest thing I’m worried about, I think, is Aang’s character arc in season one. This live action series, without going too far into it, seems to be setting up something different from his character arc in book one for Aang in this first episode. I’m wary, but I’ll see it through and come back for more commentary and reviews starting from episode two this weekend probably.
Live reaction and thoughts under the cut for spoilers
oh shit they kept the fire nation leitmotif. as they should
music def feels the same
opening fight sequence: stellar
did i mention the fire nation leitmotif
it’s interesting they started with the concept of the air nomad genocide. i guess they haven’t told us about the actual genocide, so that can still be a Surprise to new viewers. i don’t hate it. kept the opening monologue, but it’s kyoshi according to the captions?? weird but okay
GOOD MUSIC
why’s he flying without his glider lol
these environments slap actually
ooh comet mention
i really like the line “her spirit echoes in one of us”. that goes hard actually
mmm not really liking that gyatso is the one telling him he has to leave,,  came back with “you are my friend” though, so i’ll forgive it
APPA
this kid is pretty good in the role of aang
BRO FIREBENDER FLIGHT. is this just bc of the comet or can they just Do That. i mean,, we don’t technically Know it’s bc of the comet yet
sound design is kinda peak
really REALLY interesting that they’re starting with the air nomad genocide. i know i said that already but we’re actually seeing it now. it’s setting a tone for this version of the show to be darker/less lighthearted, which idk how i feel about. not necessarily good or bad. this is only episode one so i’ll have to reserve judgment.
comet power confirmed okay
THE AVATAR STATE LOOKS SO GOOD
wolf cove??? was that always the name of the southern tribe where katara and sokka are from????
i think it would have been fun if zuko’s scar was a little Hand Shaped
probably could’ve done the freeing aang from the iceberg part a little better. how and why was he freed, if not katara getting angry at sokka??
speaking of, sans the early book 1 sexism, sokka is DEFINITELY sokka. a few more one liners and you’ll have me sold
mentioned zuko’s banishment early. hm
speaking of. not sure how i feel about zuko rn. why’s he talking about the throne like that?? he should be more focused on his perceived lack of honor i think
yeah,,, where IS appa. oh shit he already has the whistle??? more importantly Where is aang’s glider
SOKKA HIDING BEHIND KATARA IS EVERYTHING TO ME
HELLO??? katara’s monologue??? almost word for word??? from her gran gran??
this environment design though,, the building is made out of what is probably a whale rib cage as support for packed snow?? that’s so cool
no pilot episode miscommunication plot! not unhappy, i hate miscommunication plots
oh sokka,,, “lord of snow and ice”
zuko has not Once said the word honor
zuko’s breakdancing firebending moves God Bless
AANG’S GLIDER SPOTTED. but we haven’t seen it as a glider yet. is it just a Staff in this version????
i don’t think this is how airbending works
oh sokka i love you. he’s sold me on sokka i do believe
IT’S A GLIDER
i. don’t think katara should have been able to do that
this kid def can’t cry on command. he’s selling heartbreak, but there are No Tears
let aang be a bit more of a child please?? he’s a bit too serious right now, isn’t part of his character arc figuring out that he has to take things more seriously in order to stop the fire nation? i’m worried about what they’ll replace that with
THE OG CREDITS SONG
Liking: Sokka, environment design, most of the visuals actually, the MUSIC
Worried about: Aang's character, Iroh's character
Nothing I truly dislike yet

Ok I have just reached the episode “queen banana” and I’m here to rant about the atrocities that are Chloe Bourgeois “character arcs” cause she deserves better, and how my personal take would go (this is just mostly me ranting and rewriting this dumpster fire to sooth my anger at the writers cause chloe deserved better
The first few seasons has many episodes showing that Chloe was a bully, but also someone with layers. Someone who was raised with no expectations about how she needed to act or who she needed to be with others. As the episodes went on, we were showed how she came to realize that not everything could be handed to her, no matter her schemes to get what she wanted. She was learning that sometimes she needed to give in order to get.
And then- she just regressed to who she was before?? No- she was actually made worse than she was previously.
Now I will not be blaming characters like Zoe for this change, despite her rushed introduction, she has no part in this. The only ones we can hold responsible are the writers who, despite months and even years of planning, apparently had this atrocious character assassination planned from even as far back as “queen wasp”.
So instead I’m changing that cause that’s bs
In season three, Chloe is forced to accept that she messed up her chance to be queen bee, but it’s still a hard pill to swallow. Instead of obsessing over getting it back like in the show, she puts in renewed effort to her personality change (with mixed results). We’d have Zoe introduced in the season 3 finale of miracle queen instead. Chloe would see her half sister, effortlessly kind and considerate, and able to make friends with ease, become frustrated. In those around her and herself. The catalyst to her becoming queen bee would be that she wanted to prove she was “worthy”. Worthy of what? Not eve she is really knows. All she knows is that she’s of no use to any one around her. The rest of the finale kinda goes the same but with a different version of Chloe when deakumatized. She would be drained and upset, mostly at herself, and instead choose to silently go home after returning the bee miraculous when the dust settles. When she gets home, she and Zoe talk. About how Chloe isn’t used to meeting expectations and how Zoe herself has always been forced to meet them. Both begin to teach eachother the benefits of both reaching expectations and letting go of others opinions. We cut Sole Crusher from season 4 completely and have a desperate plot of Zoe getting akumatized to be given a charm by lady bug. Banana queen would change that Chloe, rather than wanting to kick Zoe out of the movie, just wants to be in the movie. The movie has been in production by the class for months and Chloe’s initial reaction left most of them iffy about her joining (she said the same thing that they recounted in the episode) and she would say “well yeah I said that but I didn’t mean it.” And the whole class would be like “ehhhh…” Zoe and Adrien would eventually convince the class to give Chloe a chance. Of course, once the production is underway, Chloe’s old personality slowly resurfaced and similar events from the og episode occur. In the end they go through with their original script like in the episode, and Chloe gets pretty mad, mostly hurt and upset. Later, adrien mentions the promise they made and how he wasn’t sure they could be friend anymore. Chloe would be more visibly upset by his words and, while still dismissing him, would be mush more distraught by the time shadow moth contacts her. Zoe still becomes the new holder of the bee miraculous, but I imagine at some point in the future of this au, Chloe will be able to wear a new miraculous and be given a second chance, just as soon as she finishes her own journey of learning who she is.
Im thinking of calling this au “Sour to Sweet”, and basically reworking Chloe from the ground up with the crumbs of character development the show actually gave us. I’ve also fallen in love with Zoe despite only having her for two episodes, so she’ll probably play a big part as well.
If you have any ideas, feel free to share!

thinking abt this post and how apocalypse world SUCKED and someone in the replies said it’s coz they focused on the wrong characters and thinking ok so this is a world where dean and sam never existed right?? so it would be More Interesting to have like a full season arc where THEY are stuck in this world and how it changes because of them. also would make for interesting dynamics. having them form new relationships with “old faces” who never knew them. instead of the weird dynamic of acting like the old faces are the og characters 2.0 like, show them making new and different relationships with these characters.
this is all taking place in s13 btw. so like, cas just died and instead of mary getting stuck there, it’s dean and sam. Mary then is left behind with all the bodies and with BABY jack (he can pull a twilight renesmee and rapidly age in a few eps) but i think, mary who lost her babies, mary who struggled so hard when she first came back, would benefit from having a little baby to take care of for a while. anyways, so mary’s plot will revolve around working through her grief and mother feelings and also enlisting help from others (maybe crowley didn’t die this time) to help get the boys back.
meanwhile, dean is losing his mind with grief because cas just DIED in front of him and now he can’t even properly burn his body and put him to rest AND he’s stuck in this alternate world where michael the arc angel is gunning for his ass AND lucifer is there AND everything sucks. but okay, he’s hopped up on adrenaline and they’ve got work to do so he manages to stow his shit for a bit. then, they cross paths with AU!cas and he’s NOT like the weirdo one from canon ok. he’s more, numb. like when cas was under naomi’s control. he’s following orders. he’s obedient. this is a cas who never met dean, never rebelled. never was changed by dean. and dean is SO desperate to have cas back, any version of cas, so, he focuses on getting through to this cas. maybe he taken prisoner or something and cas is tasked to guard “the michael sword” and during that time....dean talks. he talks to cas and tells him about humanity and tells him why humanity matters, why it’s worth saving. he tells him about his cas and everything they went through together. and slowly, cas thaws and he starts to listen and he becomes captivated by this bright soul. and when michael comes for his sword, cas rebels for dean once more. he helps dean escape, the two of them on the run from angels. they meet back up with sam and the others and cas fights on their side. michael and lucifer are coming. sam and the others say a portal’s opened up not too far from camp but they gotta get moving.
by this point, jack has aged up AND gotten OG cas out of the empty AND opened a portal to apocalypse world and so when dean, AU!cas, sam and the others get to the portal there’s mary, crowley, gabriel, jack and......cas. dean is weak in the knees and they collapse into each other, holding on for so long, but then michael and lucifer are there. The others scramble to get through the portal, rowena helping them from the other side. dean is torn, he looks back (ohh the look back!) and tells AU!cas to come with them and AU!cas looks back sadly, looks at where dean and cas’s hands are clasped together and shakes his head, tells him there’s no place for him back in that world and to go. but before they can get through the portal, michael is there and he’s NOT going to lose his sword again. so AU!cas does the only thing he can to buy them those last few moments they need to get away, he steps in front of michael and takes his blade to the chest. and dean’s screaming, because another cas just died for him and then he’s being pulled through the portal by his cas and falling to his knees, burying his face in cas’s stomach as cas cards through his hair, just crying and mourning and also feeling so damn grateful that his cas is alive. anyways this is how the s13 apocalypse world plot could’ve been good

okay, final predictions for the finale rant/ramble/whatever you want
Questions answered
i don’t believe literally everything is going to be answered simply bc there has to be a balance when you don’t know if you’re gonna get another season. i personally believe that there has to be a balance of some questions answered with some still remaining simply bc for every percent of a chance you have of NOT continuing, you have a chance OF continuing.
So here are the questions i think will get answered:
We’ll figure out where they are in terms of space and time
We’ll figure out a LITTLE bit as to why Dean is doing what he’s doing
We’ll figure out who the Akrida Queen is
Here are some of my musings going into the finale:
I personally believe everything is taking place in The Empty. If you’re new around here, I am a BIIIIIIIG subscriber of the Chuck Won theory, and in order for this theory to work in my head, I need it so that Dean was never actually in Heaven when it came to 15x20. Neither was Cas.
It’s my personal opinion, and I’ve chatted about this on @endofthebookpod with @jewishdeanwinchester and @evergreencowboy who also have brought this idea up, so i guess it’s a collective opinion lmao, that this is all taking place in the empty.
There’s also the First Draft theory that @evergreencowboy has mentioned on the podcast way back in the beginning and that we keep mentioning because it can also coexist and blend with the theory that they’re all in the empty.
I think theories of this taking place in The Empty were solidified with the last episode and Limbo and the circus and all that. Fake happiness, accepting and processing reality to snap out of it and break free, etc etc.
So yes, I do believe they’re in The Empty. I’ve been hoping that Dean’s been in The Empty for a long long while, even before the show, given the Chuck Won theory. It will make me SO happy if this is where this is all taking place.
I don’t believe Cas will be seen.
This may be an unpopular opinon but I don’t want any Destiel reciprocation on screen until the continuation. I personally want the prequel to exist as its own thing with some character development for Dean in the background.
Now, I don’t mind parallalels and threads to Destiel — we’ve even gotten those already — and I don’t mind Dean mourning or mentioning Cas. But, I physically don’t want to see him until there’s an Empty rescue primed and ready to happen in the continuation.
I am aware of the fact that Cas is awake in the Empty, everyone and everything is, however it feels like it’s too soon to reunite Dean and Cas on screen and I wouldn’t want that happening on a spin-off — i need it to happen in a continuation.
However, it would be very sweet if there were mentions/threads/insinuations to the relationship/how dean feels, etc etc — with just the knowledge that Cas doesn’t know it yet.
But, above all else, I really want this show to exist as its own thing and as world building and rule building for how the Empty works if that’s indeed where they are. The Empty has virtually no rules for its existence other than a select few from OG SPN so if this is indeed The Empty, a pocket universe inside The Empty, what have you — then I would hope that more rules are established for it.
Questions remaining
Here are my questions remaining and that IDK if they’ll get answered in the finale but I’m okay if they aren’t
Why is Carlos so associated with death imagery?
Was John talking with anyone when he ‘died’ for a hot second in the vampire episode? And if so, who?
Who is The Witness? [I think if they’re real it’s either Chuck or it’s Dean]
Are these the real John and Mary?
What exactly are the Akrida? Does The Empty hold them and since Jack woke everything up, they’re out and about?
Are Gabriel, Chuck, and Rowena OUR Gabriel, Chuck and Rowena? Or are they actually from the 70s? [my guess is that they are ours, and that’s why we’re in The Empty]
Is Betty an Angel?
Why does Dean have the samulet dangling from his car?
Why isn’t Sam there?
Where TF is Deanna?
--
Okay I think that’s it for now. I probably have more.
But lord I’m so excited for tonight.

Total Drama Changes: Revenge of the Island
This is probably going to be the shortest of these since the one I did for Island, because there's honestly not a ton I can really think of that I'd really want to change for the season? But still a few things, of course.
First off, the season would be longer, with them possibly just having some of the cast from Pahkitew be included in order to make sure they can still have eliminations most episodes.
Mike and Zoey will still have their romance, but in part thanks to there being more episodes, it will develop much more slowly. Basically, they're not going to be at the point where Mike is even joking about marriage after they've known each other for like a week.
Scott would likely still be the main antagonist of the season, but unlike in canon, his schemes would make some degree of sense?
Namely, he wouldn't self-sabatoge his own team anywhere near as often. He would still do it sometimes, but only if he had someone he really wanted to get kicked off, and he was sure he could figure out a way to convince the others to vote for them.
Instead of the whole thing with Anne-Maria and Vito, there would be a bit more focus on the potential/developing relationships between B and Dawn, and Jo and Brick.
Dakota is still mutated by the nuclear waste from the mines, but the mutation is somewhat different from canon. Namely, it's more like a Hulk situation than her just fully being transformed. In other words, she only turns into "Dakotazoid" under certain stressors. Outside of that, the only changes are that part of her hair turns green, her eyes turn red, she gains some height and muscle mass, and has small spikes on her knees and elbows.
Zoey and Mike would get more character development that doesn't involve each other, and also involves them interacting more with the other campers
Give Jo a little more character growth and development, mostly in regards to actually addressing the implication that she genuinely has self-image issues
Mike would not outright reveal that he has DID in the confessionals. Because it makes no sense that he'd be so worried about the other contestants finding out about his condition....only to have no apparent issue revealing it in the confessionals, which are seen by everyone who watches the show, and are presumed to be shown to the eliminated contestants as well.
That being said, he would probably still slip up and hint at exactly what his diagnosis is, but the full reveal wouldn't happen until Cameron confronts him about it after observing how Mike behaves, especially in regards to his triggers and alters.
Cameron becoming physically stronger would get a little more attention, at least from Cameron himself. It wouldn't be a huge thing, but I do think there would be something like a brief callback where he actually demonstrates that his time on the Island has caused him to get stronger, rather than it just being stated by his mother asking if he's gained muscle tone.
The rivalry of sorts between Cameron and Jo would be given just a bit more focus
Related to the above point: the finale would be Cameron vs Jo, rather than Cameron vs Lightning. Lightning would actually probably be eliminated fairly early on.
Not really something related to the main challenges, but with the idea of the season being longer, I would like to get an episode where we catch up with the "losers", partially just because I always liked that episode of the first season a lot.
More of the OG campers would show up as a result of having more episodes and more challenges. They would also usually have more of an active role in either designing/creating the challenges, or taking part in them.
I'd probably change Cameron's motivation for wanting to win the million because it always seemed weird to me for him to go through all the development and growth he got in the season, only to apparently be worried about not being able to return to his bubble if he lost, and then just deciding he didn't need it and sharing the money with everyone even when he wins?

thoughts on the hsmtmts final season trailer?
Well anon, I think the trailer and the just released synopsis and photos for the first 6 eps look pretty good and I'm cautiously optimistic that the show will maintain the quality of S3 and if we're very lucky it may have some moments that come close to the excellence of S1.
I wish Disney would stick to the status quo and release the final eps weekly but it seems that their MO is now to burn off seasons of shows they've cancelled or have given up on (I wonder if they regret their decision with it likely that the actors and directors strike will last for many months). I'll be away from Meta Manor for a while so I don't know when I'll have time to watch S4; I won't do ep by ep reviews but I may do a season review in a few weeks. That being said, here are the main points I'll be grading S4 on, in no particular order:
Rina: I've never been a Rina shipper but I've long said that Rina's fate is inextricably tied with the show. So I want a great season for them, no pointless breakups, no pointless drama. Now in real life with Ricky graduating they wouldn't last but Tim needs to drop the realism and have a nice unambiguous Rina endgame. I'm hopeful that Gina's acting career plot will allow her to be with Ricky even after he graduates.
Big 3 Cameos: At least one of Zac, Vanessa, or Ashley must appear on screen for at least one scene or else the OG cast plot will be pointless. Especially since in universe they're doing a HSM 4 which Disney would not have green lit without at least one of the Big 3 starring. And I won't accept some too clever by half bullshit like Drew Seely shows up as Troy.
LGBTQ Rep: HSMTMTS has made huge strides with lgbtq rep on disney and I hope they can continue to make history in this final season.
Series Coherence: I think looking back that S2 will be the breaking point for a lot of future viewers who will give up after what turned out to be the longest and the worst season. The show isn't very coherent and I hope that S4 can meaningfully connect with S1 and we have more focus on the epic highs and lows of high school musical theatre. Enjoy the final season everyone. We're in the endgame now, wildcats.

Post in question for context!
And also the tags that prompted the ask
Tumblr media
Alrighty!!
So Sky Children of the Light is a very fun game where you just run around the 6 realms (Isle of Dawn, Daylight Prairie, Hidden Forest, Valley of Triumph, Golden Wastelands, Vault of Knowledge) reliving spirits memories, getting Winged Light, making friends with other players, and so on! The main feature is the Seasons of the game which give you quests to do around the realms. There's really only one main objective.
Bring Light to the Fallen in Eden.
Now Eden is the 7th realm of Sky, but it's not a main one. No spirits. Very deadly. It's basically the end of the game. What was in the OG post is actually the second area of Eden, OP didn't put Pomni in Point of No Return which I would argue is the actual Eye of Eden, but I digress.
The character you play as is called a Sky Child, and there's a couple lines in the game (very few lines overall in game but yeah) that indicate that you are the last remains of the kingdom. Your purpose is to ascend the spirits back to the stars.
So, Winged Light. Your character, first thing the game after lighting the first murals in Isles, will get a cape. And cuz we're made of light, we need light to gain energy to fly. This is where Winged Light comes in. You collect this, and the more you collect, the more energy you have in you to fly. There's around 116 WL in the realms, and ascending spirits give you more light called Wing Buffs, these are permanent light, which I'll explain. Realm spirits have 49, Seasonals have 59. The WL will give you stars, the more WL the more stars. The max is 12 stars as of typing. The more stars the more experienced you are (it's a good way to indicate how far along a player is along with their cosmetics)
You need at least 20 WL total in order to enter Eden. This is a massive challenge in the game, with high winds so we can't fly, rocks that will knock you out and your WL. Then the second area which we see in the OG post. This is tougher than the first area. Dark Crystals that'll drain your light, one star at a time. The rocks are more abundant here, you have to hide otherwise you're very screwed. And not to mention the FUCKING KRILLS-
Oh, Krills? They're in game name is Dark Dragon but the community decided otherwise. Basically one direct hit from these guys and you are dead. WL knocked out and all your flame extinguished (that's what our inner light is called)
Anyways, once you get past the last Krill (absolute bastard) and down the WL hall. This long hallway full of WL, the game's way of telling you, "You'll need this." You will hit a point where the game asks you if you want to go further. This is The Point of No Return.
This is where you die.
Now, there's two parts to PNR. The first part, there's a load of Fallen Statues. Your job is to give all your winged light to them. All of it. One WL equals one statue. There's obviously challenges in the form of wind, dark water that'll drain your light, and periodic rock rains. There's a couple sconces you can light in order to heal yourself and continue forward, and some cover from the rock rain.
But the second area. Oh boy. Very few statues, even fewer sconces, and no cover what so ever. Constant rock rain, you cannot heal unless you have a Instant Recharge Potion on you. But once you die, you get to ascend to Orbit. This is basically the final final area. All the statues you saves return to give you Ascended Candles, which can buy you Wing Buffs.
Oh right I need to explain those! They're basically free WL you earn walking to the edge of Orbit. Every spirit you buy a Wing Buff from will give you one WL, and when you're reborn, you have extra Wings on you. This helps immensely. You can still lose it, and you definitely won't find it on the map but it's still a good thing to have.
Alright, now we're past the first part, onto the second, aka Seasons!
Seasons are basically storylines in the game. Right now is the Season of Revival, in which we revive an old village with the help of a spirit. It actually opened a new portal for us, and I found out it's actually an introductory quest for new players (as the game recently launched on Steam so it makes sense) and you can swap Homespace for it instead. Homespace being where you spawn when you log in, and has all the portals and closets right there. Also the occasional Spells Boat and Returning Spirit. These guys are spirits from old Seasons who come back and give everyone a chance to buy their cosmetics (as once a season is over you can't) and a chance to get their Wing Buff (as you can't even when playing the season)
One of the quests was to bring spirits back to the village, and in order to do that.... you had to go to Eden.
There's been a lot of Seasons, I started just before Season of Abyss which happened last year (a story about a group of sailors who were collecting crystals the Kingdom used to generate power, shit ensues, underwater Krills, a massive Leviathan, really fun Season)
There's typically 4 seasons per year, this year being Remembrance, Passage, Moments, and Revival. I've played through just Remembrance to 100%, wasn't there for Passage (it was apparently buggy af) , Moments I was there but didn't do the quests, and I've played through a bit of this season but not a lot if I can be honest
And that's all!

Mk being a stone monkey gives me sm headaches like no it doesn’t mean swk is his father. They’re family depending on how u look at it. For example they could be brothers or mk being swk grandkid in the similar vein as Sun Luzhen.
My issues is just that literally pulled a naruto on all of us
Like he pull out the cudgel and it gave him his powers but are those powers actually his or swk??? Wgeres those it start and end??
DONT GET ME STARTED THATBY HAVING MK BEING A STONE MONKEY N PULLING SWK MOVE OUT OF THE MOVE UNDERMINE THE YEARS OF EFFORTS SWK TOOK TO MASTER IT(i know mk did a little training but that not what im talking about. It seen like him being a stone monkey had bypassed him the need to do actual cultivation one must need to do in order to do cool shit or be immortal. Remember that scene when he plucked his hair n then it became a clone? Yea like this kid hasn’t even exercised n yet?? Hes able to use qi like that?? Huh??? even wukong was mortal at his early stages n didn’t do the thing mk was doing besides that one timehe shoots laser from his eyes)
Like mk became a daoist immortal in a day than the 50+ years swk took to be one😭😭 it doesn’t even work like that mk. It just feels like they made mk be this way to show hes a better swk than swk himself.
N it already complicated the idea of swk somehow giving mk some of his powers(this kid would actually be dead like how azure lion was w je golden core) that u don’t actually know if its mk that’s doing these things naturally or is infused w that.
Did swk do ritual like how hd did in the novel with the three prince??(the arc introduces three prince who became the pilgrims disciples n so theyre were to wield weapons similar to that of the pilgrims via a ritual. One of the prince got extra buff stats in order to wield his replica of the riyu jingu bang that still the same weight ss the og)
^i doubt this bc lmk had diverge sm from jttw that u can swapped out the names w others and its be its own show completely unrelated to jttw.
Monkie Kid spoilers & complaining below:
Hmmm well you know anon as it is I actually found the insta-powers in the first few seasons pretty funny and charming specifically because they were often played for laughs in a pretty light hearted way. And it made sense for what the show was at that point! Monkie Kid set itself up as a relatively low-stakes and fun cartoon where a goofy and kind hearted delivery boy would get to go on all sorts of wacky adventures under the tutelage of the Great Sage, often going against some delightfully hammy villains in the Demon Bull family. Even when the stakes were still "save the world" the tone of Monkie Kid still made it pretty clear that we weren't dealing with the grimdark dramafest that has come to define so many other works. But of course a grimdark dramafest is in many ways what this cartoon would soon become (even while there is still some silly funtimes to be had), what with the world routinely being in danger of destruction, the constant trauma MK has been subjected to significantly because of his connection to the Monkey King, and with everyone and their mother yelling at Sun Wukong for being a terrible person, with the cartoon itself then often bending over backwards to prove just how true these statements are. Hell even SWK himself admitted that he's a bad teacher and described his entire existence in the season 4 special as little more than multiple lifetimes worth of mistakes (maybe he'll go on another genuine journey of self improvement and atonement but tbh I'm not holding my breath given that his miserable spot was where the journey to the west got him lol), and yeah at this point you do have to kind of laff that Xiyouji's ruthless murder monkey SWK is a more loyal friend, selfless individual, intelligent leader, and even a better shifu than Monkie Kid's. It is these writing decisions that have made me pretty leery with where they might be taking Qi Xiaotian being another stone monkey, especially since yeah lot of people seem to think this is going to lead to a fight between the two stone primates. Plus given the very recent indications that MK was both enraged that Azure Lion was using him for his own ends--something that other characters besides Azure have said SWK is also doing to Qi Xiaotian--along with the pretty blatant hints that MK's terrified he'll end up exactly like SWK I can easily see that fear turning into violent anger :(

Thinking about Ellis' excuse to not include Grant <3 "We only had 80 minutes for the first season" <3 "His name is stupid" <3 (i think there also was smth like "having a pirate in a land-locked country is dumb" but MY MAN. YOU TOOK SO MANY LIBERTIES. JUST MAKE HIM A SLUTTY THIEF IF ITS TOO HARD FOR YOU TO COME UP WITH A STORY ???)
It actually infuriates me because, other than the ridiculous excuse for his name, there was a easy way to include him: Grant's thing is literally that he was a monster under Dracula's orders before Trevor saves him. He could have shown him as a monster and dont elaborate in the first season Then if he had had other seasons, he could have made the crew fight Grant at some point, and break his curse or smth. He could have introduced his monster form at the beginning of S2, even. I mean for fuck sake, he introduced a plethora of new characters over the seasons, HE HAD THE TIME. HE JUST ACTIVELY CHOSE NOT TO USE IT FOR GRANT. (He could even have made him instead of Greta. But he didnt because he is a coward who is ready to fetishize bisexuality and polyamory and bdsm and give a few minutes of screentime to a lesbian couple but not show two men falling in love in a healthy way. Or maybe he was afraid Grant's abs would have outshine Alucard's tiddies)
Anyway Grant deserved better and Warren is a shitty writer <3
Yeah, his reasonings were "he has a stupid name" and "a pirate in Wallachia doesn't make sense" (too bad that he's a fallen noble but as if he'd knew that :) ). And yeah. Hard to take him seriously when he says "I don't agree with canon so I'm not going to bother" after what he did to the Devil Forgemasters :'D
Lol, don't the Deats brothers swear up and down that Greta has nothing to do with Grant? She's just there to be yet another sassy woman who takes no shit and to be Amazing Bi Representation. Also lmao, I would never expect Ellis to write a good m/m romance, best if he doesn't even try thanks.
OG Isaac 🤝 Grant: tiddy too powerful to be depicted

3, 5 and 29 for the writer asks, please!
Ooh, fun! Thank you, anon!
Full Ask List Here
3. What’s your favorite fic that you’ve written?
However Improbable, my Star Trek TOS/ACD Sherlock Holmes crossover written for NaNoWriMo a loooooong time ago.
It was my very first TOS fic (why I chose to do a novel-length crossover as my initiation is anyone's guess), and to this day is still probably the most fun I've had writing anything. I'd like to think I balanced the characterization of both universes fairly well, but the reader is the judge.
Crossovers can be tricky, and they're not for everyone, but I had far too much fun with this one. I will always remember it fondly.
5. What’s a fic idea you’ve had that you will never write?
At one point, I had a Star Trek TOS Alternate Universe series plotted out based on the OG Mission Impossible television show (from the same general time period as TOS, and as fabulous in its own way). The show actually featured Leonard Nimoy for two of the seasons, and it's generally delightful. Much more so than the big-budget films of the same franchise, in my humble opinion. 8/10, would recommend.
(Plot under the cut)
If I remember correctly, the AU started on the premise of Operation-Annihilate going badly wrong (an idea which later morphed into An Equitable Trade, FWIW), whereupon Jim Kirk was quietly discharged from Starfleet service in the ensuing scandal, and Spock basically said live long and fuck off with that and followed him. In this AU, the rest of the crew weren't originally aboard the Enterprise, and were picked up along the way through the ensuing ridiculous adventures across the galaxy, per typical MI format.
I actually had one 'episode' partially written a long time ago, before I got smart enough to back things up online, and lost it in a laptop crash. RIP my most ridiculous idea.
29. Share a bit from a fic you’ll never post OR from a scene that was cut from an already posted fic. (If you don’t have either, just share a random fic idea you have that you don’t plan on getting to.)
This was cut last month from one of my Whumptober fics, as I decided to go a couple different directions with the TOS movie era instead.
“What on earth are you doing.”
Seated on the couch with at least a dozen takeout containers of various shapes and sizes stacked in perfectly neat, consistently spaced rows on the coffee table, Spock raises an eyebrow at him. “It was indeed, on Earth. During our recent sojourn in the Terran past, you informed Dr. Taylor that I found Italian food to be pleasing.”
“…Yes? Is that why you ordered what looks like the entire vegetarian menu from Angelo’s?”
“I must have a full data set in order to confirm a valid hypothesis.”
“Of course.” He doesn’t even bother to hide a smile. “But your face tells me it hasn’t been confirmed.”
“Correct.” Spock looks mildly uneasy about this discrepancy, though he indicates the barely-touched cartons with what looks like resignation. “I admit to feeling a slight sense of disillusionment, in the matter. It would seem that either you were in error, or that my taste for such things has changed during the process of my refusion.”
Jim’s too tired to do this standing up, right now, so he clambers over a hilariously untidy stack of of cartons on the rug (clearly overflow from the table) in order to collapse on the couch as well, exhaling in a long breath of relief at being able to get off his feet for a few minutes.
“I mean, it’s certainly possible your tastes have changed, Spock. But I think it’s more likely that you just haven’t got the right dishes.”
“How precisely is one to know which are ‘right’.”
Jim turns his head, still resting on the back of the couch, and gestures at the pile of cartons. “You like Italian, typically pasta; but you dislike strong garlic flavor. Since garlic is pretty ubiquitous in Italian food, when we order in or go out, we typically ask them to make yours without much of it.”
“Ah.”
“Angelo’s has a pumpkin ravioli this time of year that you refuse to admit is your favorite, because favorites are illogical.”
“I did not see this option on the menu.”
“That’s because since it’s seasonal, it’s not on the carryout menu,” he replies. “You’ve complained more than once about having to call and actually talk to someone to order it, instead of using the automated system.”
“I did not recall that detail with any clarity,” Spock admits, looking more downcast than before.
He reaches over to put a steadying hand on Spock’s arm. “You’ve recalled nearly every detail that is important; we can deal with the rest. That’s what I’m here for,” he says quietly.
“I have taken enough advantage of your patience in the matter.”
“Incorrect. You’ve never taken advantage of me or anyone else, that I can recall. I’m not sure it’s even in your nature.”
“That appears to be a highly subjective assessment fueled by an emotional viewpoint.”
“Well, I am an emotional human. So that viewpoint is logical for me.” Seeing Spock’s clearly baffled expression, he hastens to add, “But from the Vulcan viewpoint: I do have all my memories, so I think my opinion should be trusted more than yours in the matter.”
Spock considers this for a moment, and then nods. “That is eminently logical.”

How about Toby but as an alien ?
Tumblr media
Okay so please here me out. I'm not a real active supporter of this thought, but this is something that I think about whenever I watch Trollhunters.
This thought came from watching the series as a whole and trying to see where the bad points were. And I'll be honest i'm no big fan of Toby. He's fun, sure, but it's just not the kind of character that usually ends up on my "favorite characters" list. And i'm no big fan of 3Below either : sci-fi isn't really my thing, and I'm part of the people who thinks it's just way too different from the original serie, it feels more as a sort of alternate universe other than anything.
And I also noticed that the number 3 was often appearing in the franchise.
We have 3 series, the first series have 3 season, the second one has two, the last one has one, like a count down for the movie. We have 3 majors races, we can see that on Eli's tableboard when he explains his theories : Trolls, Aliens and Wizards.
And the first series has 3 OG main characters : Jim, Tobias and Claire. Jim is the main character in the first serie, Claire is heavily present in the last serie even if the main character in this one is Douxie.
But we miss something more about Toby. He doesn't have his time to "shine" until the movie. I'm not talking about being a hero who fights etc, i'm talking about us learning more about him and his thoughts. He has some dedicated episodes in Trollhunters, but nothing really "for" him. If we talk about trolls, we can think of Jim. If we think of wizards, we can think of Claire. And sure, if we talk about humans, we can think about Toby, but since 3Below feels "too far" from the rest of the franchise I think we could "fix" it in some way : Toby could have been an important part of 3Below. Not just a character present from time to time to remind you that "Hey you're still watching something from Tales of Arcadia !" I'm not talking about making Toby a full on alien, but like maybe give him an alien ancestor, or have him just really good at something Alien. For example he's more incline in learning extra terrastrials langages because it just makes more sense to him, or maybe with basic medicine things with how much he got hurt with his trollhunting duties, Barbara taught him a few things, and now that he has to help Krel, Aja and Varvatos who also happens to not have any healer, maybe he learns some things about Alien metabolism and helps them whenever they get hurt.
Anything could make it work really, I just wish for Toby to have the light on him even if he's just a supporting role. A Hero doesn't have to wield a sword, a wand or anything. He could be a hero who heals, a hero who raises the spirits of everyone.
And I just wish for the Aliens to be less out of place in Tales of Arcadia. To me he would've been a keypoint to introduce the Aliens. I mean it just goes with his character development : Jim and Claire aren't there anymore at the end of season 1, so he ends up feeling lonely and slightly bored and ends up meetin literal Aliens. Boum, the premise of 3Below is set.
Plus it logical if we look at things in a chronological order. Jim is the first one in the Trollhunter team, since he is the OG Trollhunter. Tobias is the second one that joins him, and Claire is the last human who joins. So the first show is about Jim, the second about Tobias and the third one about Claire.
And maybe some people will argue that the writers were holding onto the sense of normalcy that Toby brings. And I will answer that not only the two first series of the franchise had a whole thing around the fact of "make it seems like everything is normal", so we still have school, humans and all of that. Next, I believe that with the whole "steve's pregnancy" that happened in the Movie-That-Shall-Not-Be-Named, we can step a bit from normalcy and make Toby have teeny bits of Alien stuff going on for him.
And I would even add that it could make a really good kind of character development for him. Let's say that he's a descendant of an old alien specie, who left a lot of stuff on the Earth, and who is somewhat related to Akiridians. Toby learns that he has some alien blood in him, and he thinks "yeah great ! my life will change forever !" except it doesn't really ? I mean yeah he deals with aliens, but it's really similar to his Trollhunter duties, so it doesn't really changes much. Yeah he's from an old race of aliens, but since he has more human blood he doesn't look or sound anything like them, so other aliens don't really believe him when he brags about it (expect Aja, Krel and Varvatos since they saw it with their own eyes).
And so his development is to accept his alien heritage, even if doesn't replace the loneliness he feels without his friends, even if he has yet to feel useful against aliens, even if it has nothing more to offer than old knowledge, old technologies that no one seems to know how they function and a pseudo cool status that not so many people will believe right away.
Aliens can be more than just cool blue futuristic people, Tobias can be a hero without having to sacrifice his life for the cause (even if he's ready to), they didn't need to half-ass something for Toby in the movie when they had the opportunity way before that.
And maybe Toby would have been a character that I truly enjoy if that happened, maybe he would have been less seen as "useless" by some people if he had the status of "alien healer/support". Maybe it would have sparred us the not so great ending of the franchise.
Maybe.
