★★★★★★★★
The day you met Ezra Bridger you laughed when he told you his name.
“Forgive me,” you told him, “but you’re not the first man on Lothal to try and pick me up while claiming to be the guy in the mural on the wall outside.”
“Well that’s new,” he said. “I tell you my full government name and you think it’s a ruse. Maybe I should have used one of my old aliases.”
You’d been finishing up some work in what had come to be your favorite caf bar in town, a few blocks from your home on Lothal. And you were thinking about leaving when a man approached with a look in his eyes that, on another day, might have prompted you to pick up your comms and fake an emergency call from a friend.
But now he was reaching for his wallet, pulling out an ID. “You can check my chain code if you want. I didn’t realize I had so many doppelgängers.”
You quirked an eyebrow. None of the other “Ezras” you’d met had offered ID but, as soon as you saw it, you felt heat rush to your cheeks. “Okay,” you said. “This is embarrassing. ”
He smiled warmly as he put his wallet away. “To be fair, most of the stuff in town depicts me as a kid, and I didn’t have this handsome beard back then. But I can appreciate a skeptic.”
You put away your datapad, your instincts still split between staying where you were and running out the side door. Surprising yourself, you say, “But I’m not hearing you say that you're not trying to pick me up.”
“Well…maybe. That depends, I guess, on whether you mind if I join you.”
You nodded, and he sat opposite you, the corners of his blue eyes crinkling when he smiled. Up close, you could almost see the teenage boy from the mural. But his hair was longer, dark curls falling soft around his face, and he had a short beard that he did wear quite well.
You wondered if his nerves had caught up with him as he ran a hand through his hair, the late afternoon light coming in through the window catching a streak of silver at his temple.
“Sometimes it feels like I know everyone in this city. Or at least that everyone in this city feels like they know me.” he said. “But you’re new, aren’t you?”
“What gave me away?” you asked.
“Well, I could never forget such a lovely face.”
“Are you serious right now?”
“I really am.”
There was something sincere about him, despite the flirtations. Something about the way he moved was honest. Welcoming. A server brought him a cup of caf and Ezra exchanged a few words with him in Rodian.
“So how long have you been in town?” He asked.
“About eight months,” you said. “I just hit this point where I felt like a fresh start might be nice. I don’t usually abandon ship when things get rough, but I thought maybe this one time…I can’t believe I’m telling you this.”
He winked. “I used a Jedi mind trick.”
“Right,” you said, fairly certain he was kidding.
He shrugged. “And somehow you landed on Lothal.”
“I narrowed it down to the places where I’d be able to have my astromech serviced.”
“Must be a special astromech.”
“She’s a therapy droid.”
“Ah,” he said. “There are several mechanics in Capital City who work with that program.”
You were a bit taken aback at how unfazed he was at the mention of your therapy droid—issued by the New Republic. Similar programs had been available to injured veterans before, but the civilian program was newer. And he not only knew about the program, but didn’t seem bothered by the fact that you had a condition that required this kind of aid.
“We had a lot of options,” you said. “But Ceetoo and I decided Lothal seemed nice. So…I’m here.”
“Glad you are,” he said, both hands cupping his caf mug.
“You just met me and the first thing I did was call you a liar.”
“That’s what I like about you.”
A day would come when you’d realize what he meant then. That when you saw him you weren’t thinking about all the war stories, about the way Lothal had memorialized him when they’d thought he was dead. That he had a chance, at least for a moment, to show someone who he was without the burden of their assumptions and expectations.
You would also come to realize that from the first time Ezra smiled at you, there was no coming back. He had you, melting like chocolate in the palm of his hand. Because he saw you too, like no one else ever had before.
***
It’s late afternoon when C2-B35 comes in from the garage bleeping about the line at the pharmacy. She’d gone with Ezra to pick up your medication after getting your doctor to call in something new for your joint pain. Ezra could have gone by himself but, because of an incident early in your dating history when there’d been a mix-up, Ceetoo almost always insists on going with him—and he learned a long time ago not to fight a stubborn astromech.
Ezra finds you on the sofa where you’ve been trying to relax, the pain in your back making it hard to even lie still. He knows better by now than to tell you that you’ve been working too hard, that you should take more breaks. He knows to help you up, taking you gently into his arms and kissing your hair. By the time he hands you the tablets, you’re already feeling a bit of relief.
You take the medicine and let out a heavy sigh, resting your head on Ezra’s chest before whispering a thank you.
“I wish I could heal,” he says.
“We still don’t know if that kind of healing would help me,” you say. “Genetic condition.”
It’s a dance you dance every time you have a flare like this, bad enough that Ceetoo insists on contacting your doctor.
“I met a kid once who could do it. His dad said he could nullify the effects of a neurotoxin. Close a wound like it had never been there at all.”
“What did the kid say about it?”
“The kid doesn’t talk much. Still working through some things, I think.”
He gets quiet, and from the look in his eyes you know that he’s gone somewhere in his mind lost you can’t follow. It’s been 25 years since he last saw his adoptive father, the man who’d trained him in the Force, and there are some wounds that time never quite heals. Ezra is still working through some things, too.
“Hey,” you say. “Come back to me.”
He smiles, his eyes bright as he gently squeezes your arm. “I’m right here, sunshine.”
The medication starts to hit, and you let out a breath you hadn’t realized you’d been holding. You reach for his face, the sharp line of his bearded jaw, the parallel scars on his left cheek. “Just as you are, you’re enough, Ezra. I don’t need a Jedi. I just need you.”
C2-B35 beeps irritably before retiring to her room, reminding you that you haven’t eaten since breakfast.
“Thank you, Ceetoo,” you call, with a promise that you’ll have a proper dinner.
“Is it helping?” Ezra asks. “The medicine?”
“It is,” you say. “Finally.”
“Have you really not eaten all day?”
Your face tells him everything.
“Right,” he says. “Dinner. I could make some quick dumplings? I think I froze some last time to fry later…I’d just have to make the sauce, really.”
He’s up and in the kitchen, pulling jars of spices out of the pantry, and you know he can already taste this comfort dish, and so can you.
So much of his life had been unstable after Ezra’s parents disappeared. He was on his own at such a young age, and then after a few short years in the Rebellion he ended up in exile on Peridea. Now, everything he had felt like a luxury to him: a permanent home, a pair of naughty indoor loth-cats, soft clothes he wore without consideration for armor. He’d told you about learning to cook when he came back to Lothal and, now that he has access to just about any ingredient for any dinner in the galaxy, he has every intention of not only enjoying the luxury of any hot meal he can dream up, but to make sure you enjoy food as well. When Ezra offers to cook, you never say no.
“Ezra?”
“What do you need, love?”
“I need you to kiss me.”
And he does, pulling you up from the sofa, taking your face in his hands as he presses his lips to yours, his neatly trimmed beard soft against your skin. You’re lacing your fingers through his dark curls when he pulls away to look right into your eyes.
“I’m so glad you’re here,” you whisper.
And he replies, “I can’t imagine being anywhere else.”
***
It was night before you left the caf bar and, at this realization, Ezra insisted on walking you home. “Unless you don’t feel comfortable with that,” he’d said. “I would understand. It’s just dark out and…”
And something about being with Ezra just made you feel safe. Even on that first night. You’d never let a strange man walk you home before—it was on its face a bad idea. But you’d stayed out much later than you normally would, and the idea of being alone felt far more unsafe than being with this charming man.
“I don’t normally do things like this,” you told him, the words coming out way too fast, just a block from your building.
“I figured,” he said. “For what it’s worth…I haven’t done anything like this in quite a while.
This did surprise you. “Walked someone home?”
There was a playful tone to his voice when he replied, “Approached a beautiful stranger in a caf bar.”
“You sure are bold for someone who doesn’t regularly…do whatever this is.”
“I just…” he started and paused, taking a breath. “This is going to sound like a line, but I just felt so drawn to you.”
“In the Force?”
“Maybe.”
“It does sound like a line,” you said. “But somehow I believe you. Jedi mind trick?”
“I’d never actually—”
“I know.”
You were both standing outside your door, a cool evening breeze in the air. You took all of him in—his firm chest beneath the deep v of his tunic, his dark hair catching on the wind, those blue eyes that seemed to see right past all of your walls. You’d met this man just a few hours ago but, beyond all reason, you so wanted to—
“Can I kiss you?” He asked, the words falling from his lips as if he hadn’t considered the consequences.
You nodded and he took a step closer, cupping your face in his hands, his nose brushing yours as he leaned in to press the most delicate kiss to your lips. And you felt his smile just as you felt that joy in yourself—a spark of something unlike anything you’d felt before. Maybe it was the Force, but every inch of your being wanted to be close to this man as you reached for his face, drawing him nearer, slipping a hand into his hair as the kiss deepened.
“I should go,” Ezra said, breathless into your ear.
“Why?” you asked.
“I have an appointment.”
“Really?”
“No.”
“Then stay.”
Nervously you fumbled with your keys, dropping them not once but twice as you tried to open your door, Ezra eventually placing them steadily into your hand, and just the touch of his fingertips against your palm sent a pleasant shiver through you. Quickly you shooed an alarmed Ceetoo away as you entered. Unlike you, her memories included files from the war, and she recognized Ezra as soon as she saw him. Beeped out something along the lines of this one’s mostly trustworthy and I’m going to charge.
“Mostly?” Ezra said, almost in a whisper. “I wonder what she’s heard.”
You bite back a laugh. “I just need you to know I don’t normally do this either.”
“Okay.”
“I could make some tea.”
“Sure.”
But his arms were around you again and you both stumbled toward the sofa, falling into the cushions wrapped in each other like teenagers, wholly unworried about anything else in the galaxy.
That tea didn’t get made for hours. And it was nearly dawn when you retired to your bedroom and Ezra fell asleep on your sofa, your loth-cat sitting at his feet. When you woke, he was gone, a note left on your kitchen counter: Had to work this morning, but I hope you’ll call me. You traced your finger over the comms code left in scratchy handwriting below, wondering for a split second if this could be real. But if you closed your eyes you could still feel the sensation of his fingertips ghosting over your cheek when you’d handed him a blanket the night before. His voice when he’d whispered in your ear, “Sleep well, sunshine.”

hello hello!!! I saw your follower celebration and I thought I should join in! Do you do Rebels characters? If so, Ezra Bridger, Aquamarine and fall would be a great combo! (as specially if it includes Ezra’s trauma 😁). If you only do TBB/CW, then instead you could do Hunter, Amaythyst, and winter! Thanks for taking the time to do this (if you do it, that is!) love your writing sm! (btw is SFW only okay? Not a huge fan of smut reader inserts lol)
Comfort
Summary: Ezra has always been prone to nightmares, it’s a jedi thing he often claims. Luckily, he has you to help settle his nerves.
Pairing: Ezra Bridger x Reader
Word Count: 608
Prompt: Aquamarine - Healing Love
Warnings: None
Tagging: @trixie2023 @n0vqni @imabeautifulbutterfly
A/N: I've never written for any Rebels characters before, but that's never stopped me before! So here you go! One Ezra story! This is roughly based around the time that he returns...probably. The timeline is vague. I hope you like it!
Tumblr media
When you wake at 2 am, after a horrifying nightmare that leaves you trembling and your hands sweaty, your immediate instinct is to roll over to check on Ezra.
And when he’s not there, not sprawled out next to you sleeping peacefully, terror clenches your heart.
It takes you a moment to remember where you are, and where Ezra might be. It takes you a bit longer to stop your trembling long enough that you’re actually able to roll out of bed to find him.
You pad through the halls, your feet leading you to the dimly lit training room.
Ezra’s training room.
The comforting hum of a lightsaber reaches your ears as you open the door, and you make sure to stay close to the wall as you enter the room. Not because you’re worried that Ezra will hurt you, but because you don’t want to disturb him.
You move away from the door, and then slide down the wall to sit on the floor and you watch him.
You’re beginning to think that the original jedi must have been dancers, with the way that the lightsaber forms look. Seeing a group of jedi practicing in unison must have been a sight to behold.
Pity that you’re never going to see it.
“Did I wake you?” Ezra asks as he pauses his movements.
For a split second, you consider telling him the truth, but he’s got dark circles under his eyes and for him to be awake so early means that he had a nightmare too, so instead you smile at him, “I rolled over to steal your warmth and you were gone.”
There’s a soft laugh, “Sorry, beautiful. I needed to move.”
“It’s alright.” You watch him for a moment longer, his arms are shaking, “Have you been training for long?”
“A couple of hours.” He admits, “I had a nightmare.”
“A nightmare or a nightmare?” You ask.
“Just a regular nightmare, not a vision.”
“Hm.” You fall silent for a moment, “Do you wanna talk about it?”
He glances at you, and for a moment, just a moment, there’s something dark and bleak on his face, before it fades away. “I dreamt about you.”
You blink at him, “You had a nightmare about me?”
“A nightmare involving you, rather. I watched you die. Over and over and over and-” He trails off, his grip tightening around his lightsaber.
You push yourself to your feet and walk over to him, reaching up to press your hand against his cheek for just a moment, before you take his free hand in both of yours and press it right over your heart.
“I’m right here. And I’m alive and well.”
He presses the palm of his hand over your heart, and you hear the steady hum of his lightsaber vanish as he turns it off and puts it away so he’s able to press his other hand against your cheek.
“How is it that you’re always able to make everything bad seem so much smaller?” He asks as he leans in to bump his nose against yours.
“It’s my superpower.” You reply with an easy smile.
“I love you,” Ezra murmurs, “The idea of losing you-”
You move your hand to press a light finger against his lips, “I love you too.” You move your finger and press a light kiss against his lips, “And I’m not going anywhere. I promise.”
And Ezra releases a soft sigh, before he lays his head on your shoulder, “Can we stay here for a bit? I need to keep you close.”
“Of course. We can stay as long as you need.”

Omg hi!
I saw that you wrote for star wars rebels and thought that this was my shot!
Could i get an imagine of where Ezra has a partner(non binary reader) and they get captured after a big fight, and when they come to save them they are EXTREMELY hurt, like, burn scars, black eyes, cuts littered everywhere on their body, and how he would react along with the other ghost crew and a week or so after ish?
The ghost crew is platonic btw, but i don't know if i want Ezra romantic? Just fluff and cuddles and a really worried Ezra :)
Feel free to ignore this and remember to take care of yourself!
This one got carried away from me ty for requesting this, oml-
It was really fun to write it- I literally stayed up until 4 : 30 something or 4 : 40 something writing most of it, got 3 hours of sleep, and began to write it again I love this piece sm-
Sorry for the long wait too, and I hope you remember to take care of yourself as well!! And if this isn’t exactly how you imagined it I apologize as well, but still, I hope you enjoy!!
“—Builds character, apparently.”
The Ghost Crew x Reader [Platonic], Ezra Bridger x Reader [Romantic, mostly - recently established relationship]
Summary ; In which you get captured and tortured after a… lovely argument with your partner. Only to be found and brought back home a week later. Fun times.
Requested? ; Yes
Warnings ; reader get’s tortured, descriptions of violence [not too graphic], injuries, anxiety - typical canon violence for Star Wars Rebels and Star Wars in general. Also not much of a warning but touch starved Ezra!! I love him sm- also hurt comfort things too-
Word Count ; 6.6 k [my longest one so far- :00]
——————————————————————
Thinking back on it now, the argument was so small. So trivial.
So… Minimal.
Compared to now, that is. It was just a stupid thing blown out of proportions. A stupid little spat that you got in with your partner, Ezra.
Well, it’s not that stupid.
It was about him using the damn Sith holocron to get stronger. You didn’t mind that he was using it at first, sure. It helped him. Especially after what happened to Kanan. Kept him calm. Kept him strong. Kept him believing in the Force.
After all, in your minds eye, Sith and Jedi were really just two sides of the same coin.
It didn’t make too much of a difference to you, besides in methods of how each group manipulated their abilities they got from the Force, respectively.
But now, a couple years since then - and about a few months into… whatever your relationship turned out to be - he was depending on it too much. He was taking it’s teachings to the next level, which in turn made him more powerful. Which was a good thing, in some cases. It saved your asses more times than you could count, recently.
But Ezra was… much, much angrier than before.
Power hungry, almost.
And after Kanan found out he was using it - all because Ezra was dumb enough not to hide it quickly or put it away, and too oblivious at that point to even sense that Kanan was literally at his cabin door - Ezra rounded at you.
Blamed you for Kanan figuring it out. Blamed you for spilling his secrets. Blamed you for Kanan getting angry at him for his decision.
And you knew he wouldn’t actually say those things if he was really himself. You knew that he was beginning to get corrupted by that red pyramid of a holocron. You knew he was literally losing nights sleep due to nightmares, which made him more paranoid and skeptical about everything.
But damn, if it didn’t hurt like hell and make you even angrier than he was at that point.
You snapped at him. Told him you kept his secret from everyone. Told him you’d never, ever, spill any secrets of his or anyone else’s, even if you were being tortured for the truth. And you told him that you couldn’t believe he’d even accuse you for such a thing as that. You blamed the holocron, even took Kanan’s side for it - something you rarely ever did when it came down to Ezra unless of it was something serious - saying that Ezra’s gotten angry.
Too angry.
And you honestly didn’t really think you could handle it anymore. Or him in general, for that moment. So you left. Before he had anything else to say, and before he snapped out of that stunned daze that stared right into your eyes, almost completely disbelieving into the very depths of your soul. It was a heat of the moment kind of anger that made you do such a thing.
You offhandedly mumbled something about a mission you had to get to anyways, just as you quickly walked away from him, glare set on your face, hardening any kind of other emotion that threatened to come pouring out of your eyes (stars, you hated angry tears).
All of which happened about a week prior to where you were now.
Starving in a jail cell.
An imperial jail cell, locked away from everyone and everything.
—————————————
Another cough racked out of you, a wheeze accompanying it. You must have a cracked rib or something. Karabast, everything burned.
The mission you went on was supposed to take a couple days. And Hera gave it to you as a solo-operation. You needed it anyways, to cool off from the heated and stinging argument you had with Ezra before leaving.
It was simply get a few supply crates for medical purposes for the fleet. With how big the supply crates were, it should last the fleet about half a year at most - a few months at the very least. And honestly, the fleet could take anything it can get, at this point.
The crates were located in between the planets of Batonn and Denash, two planets in the Batonn sector.
You were warned to be careful. Earlier that year all three planets in that sector were taken back over by Grand Admiral Thrawn - some guy you’ve only recently heard of through transmissions from Fulcrum in the past few months - during the Batonn sector insurgency. You would be able to cloak one of the Phoenix squadron ships (since the Phantom would be in use for another mission at the time) so you wouldn’t be able to be detected by any of the imperials, or any of the imperial fleet, there.
Once cloaked, a secret message would be transmitted to you via a comm channel that only you and the disguised transporter would know about, in order to make the exchange for the medical crates. All hidden behind a few of the moons that orbited between both Batonn and Denash.
And you were careful.
At least, you were.
Clearly, the other disguised transporter wasn’t, and the plan was found out a little too late for you to realize that - especially a good few minutes after being bombarded by heavy blaster fire from the imperial fleet’s artillery. You’d think you’d realize that the moment you didn’t see the medical crates outside and connected to the transporter for an easy attachment pick-up, but no. You just had to give them the benefit of the doubt, didn’t you?
And now, here you were.
A week later.
Severely burned, bruised, and dehydrated.
And yet still somehow keeping a level head.
At least. You think.
“I told you, I have nothing to tell you.”, you spat between ragged breaths, another stick of something electric being shoved into your side again. You grit yourself teeth and strained, keeping your groaning and screaming to a minimum. You learned pretty quickly that running your vocal cords raw weren’t going to do you any good like that. Despite having to repeat yourself over and over to the imperial scum in front of you that you literally didn’t know a damn thing about what they wanted to hear from you.
Something something, plans for Lothal and it’s liberation (terrorist attack, which is what the Empire called it), and other boring stuff like where was the other rebels.
Now obviously, you weren’t going to just hand over the second part of their questions on a silver platter that easily. You never would. Not even if someone tried using the Force to get you to spit it out. You wouldn’t reveal that integral part of information, no. That’s where your friends were, that’s where your family lived, that’s where Ezra was.
You sure as hell weren’t going to give them that information for their satisfaction.
As for the first part of their questions, however, you legitimately didn’t know anything about it.
Sure, you’ve heard talks of it. Plans of getting together to actually plan it out, once the fleet was big enough. But you didn’t know specifics. After those couple of things, your knowledge of the subject was dwindled down to just some things you heard in passing conversations back at Chopper base. That was it.
And clearly, for the past longest week ever, the imperials didn’t believe you when you told them that truth.
That it wasn’t even fully planned. That they had nothing to worry about (yet). That you didn’t know anything.
A gloved hand lurched up and roughly grabbed your jaw, digging into the ever worsening bruises that littered your jaw and cheeks, forcing you to look at whoever it was. Through the swelling of your black eye that’s been getting worse for the past couple of days, all you could see was the blurry outline of the same soldier that always questioned you, looked at you and hurt you like you were the scum of the galaxy.
“The more you lie, the worse this gets”, he sneered, another jabs of burning and electricity stinging through you at his words. He shoved your face to the side as he let go of you, your head smacking into the metal slab that held you up and kept you captive in this horrific torture machine.
Another strained noise tickled the back of your throat. Another whimper of pain that you stifled to keep your sanity. At the very least, you could do whatever Ezra taught you to do best.
Annoy the hell out of these bucket heads.
“What’s that saying about insanity? Oh right”, you coughed before wheezing out a bit of forced laughter, a smirk forming over your mouth, irritating the cut lower lip that was beginning to scab over. “If - if you do something over and over again, and continuously get the same results, that makes you insane. And uh - buddy it’s been about a week, hasn’t it? You haven’t gotten anywhere—“
The restraints were unclipped from your wrists and ankles. Confusion wracked your mind before a hand grabbed at your neck and forced you back harshly on the metal slab. That time, you couldn’t stop the loud shout that sprang out from you at the sudden movements.
“Wha—“, you grunted before you can even squeeze out a sentence, a strong fist connected with your abdomen, making all the airbrush out of you at the action. You couldn’t even begin to process the pain you were in besides the electrical burns. The adrenaline and the numbness to it at that point was still ringing true in every nerve in your body.
Before the imperial soldier could even land another hit on you, or another burn, the hilt of a Lasan Bo-rifle hit the back of them at a pressure point, instantly knocking them out.
Wait.
Bo-rifle from Lasan?
You coughed and wheezed for more air the moment the soldier let go of your reddening neck and smacked onto the ground, and you were even firmly planted on the ground yet, or strapped down onto anything. So you were about to smack onto the ground yourself when you found no energy within you to keep yourself there. Gravity acted too fast on you.
“Woah, easy there kid—“, a rough voice sounded, almost distant in your ears, until a couple of purple furred hands caught you before you fell, steadying you on your shaky feet. “You alright there?”
“Zeb?”, you croaked out, looking up and squinting at who caught you. Purple fur, blurry yellow eyes, some semblance of a scowl - yep that was Zeb.
Once Zeb got a proper look at you, he grimaced with a flinch. “Oh - Karabast, kid, what did they do to you?!”
Burn marks everywhere, bruises everywhere, scratches everywhere, rips in clothing, tattered, messy hair, more sunken eyes than usual, looking dryer and skinnier. Karabast, you look worse for wear.
“Oh, yknow”, you chucked wryly, still keeping up the act of being as calm as you could. “A bit of torture, a bit of starvation and dehydration - builds character, apparently.” Zeb rolled his eyes, brow furrowed in something a lot less like annoyance and much more like worry.
Odd, you think. It’s only been a week since you were kidnapped. How worried could they have gotten?
“Spectre-4 to Spectre-2, come in.”, Zeb said immediately into the comm.
“Specter-2 to Spectre-4, Whaddya got for me, Zeb?”, answered the crackling voice of Hera on the other end, a faint sound of blaster fire behind her somewhere.
“I found them, I found Spectre-7”, Zeb said immediately into the comm.
“YOU FOUND THEM?” , came a chorus of four other voices loudly into the comms, along with the surprisingly relieved beeps of Chopper. You and Zeb flinched at the sound. Your ears weren’t as sensitive as the Lasat’s were, but damn if that sudden noise didn’t make you flinch.
Your’s and Zeb’s shared reaction caused him to look back at you as opposed to the comm in his other hand. One arm was held onto one of your biceps, which was one of the only thing keeping you from falling next to the puffer-pig dung heap on the floor. You were so much lighter than before. That was not a good sign.
“They’re not lookin’ so good.”, he said honestly, swiveling his head around just in case of any stray stormtrooper coming your guys’ way. No one answered back right away. At least, that’s why you and Zeb thought.
Comms shorted for a second.
Imperials know they’re there, trying to get you back, trying to cut off communications with one another.
“Zeb”, came another voice. Younger than Hera’s, definitely not either of the other guys. Sabine, you guessed, mind still swirling from the burning feeling of the metal, electrifying rods being stabbed into your sides, just enough to cause burns rather than cuts in the skin. “ZEB!”
Zeb exclaimed in irritation at the loud and sudden noise of the comms crackling back, deciding best that it probably wasn’t a good idea to just sit and wait for the others to find you two while under blaster fire. “WHAT!? What is it—!?”
“Talk to me, Orrelios, how bad are they??”, urged Sabine, seemingly referring to your injuries.
You grunted at the sudden lurch of being pulled into the hallway by Zeb, stumbling over your shaking feet as he didn’t stop for a second, even at the sounds of your own discomfort, the ones you wanted to keep at bay for a while now.
The lasat pulled you aside into an empty corridor once the blaster fire began to reach you guys. With a sigh of irritation, he picked you up from your knees and held you up - almost like a kid, which you still kind of were to some degree to him - and spoke into the comms once again. You laid your head on his shoulder with a groan and a wheeze, earning another concerned side-eyed glance from Zeb.
“Look, you’ll see them when we get back to the rendezvous point, just get there, got it!?” He said sharply into the comm, shoving it back into its place on his belt.
After that, conversations on the comms were just crackles and buzzes of the other members quickly trying to communicate with one another, blaster fire covering the most of it up, along with your hands at your ears. It was all just a blur at that point, really.
—————————————
Just before reaching the rendezvous point that was agreed upon, Zeb let you down to your feet again, still keeping a stabilized hand on your shoulder as you walked - hobbled, really - over to where the rendezvous was. He figured you didn’t want anyone to see that he carried you here like a child all the way there from that corridor. Karabast, you even vocalized that.
“Tell anyone you carried me like a kid and I will steal all of your snack rations from the extra food we found, got it?”, you slurred out, arm loosely wrapped around your middle as you heave a coarse cough afterwards, still trying to recover from being tortured just before Zeb found you.
“Got it.”, Zeb said to you with a small, relived chuckle. Although, that relief was short. How the hell are you still acting normal after all of that? Your normal, sarcastic-like-you-spend-way-too-much-time-with-Ezra self? Although, the sarcasm seems to be the only remaining constant with how you were from a week before, at that moment, so the Lasat can take what he can get. Beggars can’t be choosers, after all.
You arrived at the rendezvous point not a minute later, being met with a very worried sick Sabine and Hera. Hera immediately took you from Zeb’s side, an arm wrapping under one of yours as she led you back onto the Ghost. Sabine held onto your bicep of the other arm wrapped around your abdomen and stomach, keeping close by, and Zeb hovered close behind as the four of you quickly boarded the ghost.
Ezra, Kanan and Chopper were the ones in charge of the escape.
Once you were confirmed to be MIA, with chatter around the imperial gossip chain leading to fulcrum about six days into your stay at that imperial facility before it got to Chopper base, the plan was made almost in record time.
It was agreed upon that the two Jedi’s were to help escape, not fight. Not after the whole debacle with the old Clone Wars Y-Wings mission days prior to that, when Ezra’s use of the dark side got into his confidence and a little out of control during that mission - which lead to the unfortunate destruction of the Phantom.
Ezra was wholeheartedly against it, and so was Kanan.
But to Hera and the other two, it was their best bet. The moment Kanan and Ezra would’ve been found in that imperial facility would’ve made things a whole lot harder to get you out of there.
The Jedi staying behind on the Ghost was their best bet to get you out of there with as minimal attention as possible.
Well, as much as they could despite being rebels, of course.
No sooner than the doors to the Ghost closed once you were all loaded onto the ship, the freighter was immediately put into hyperdrive. Not directly to Atollan, of course - just somewhere away from that cursed place around Batonn and Denash.
The four of you all breathed a sigh of relief, you still wheezing and coughing from everything and trying to catch your breath. At this point, though, you’re pretty sure you have a cracked rib somewhere. Breathing hurt. Not just around your neck, but your sides too.
“Well, that was something”, you strained out with a forced chuckle, earning some pained looks from Sabine and Hera once they looked at the state of you.
Stars, you looked like hell.
Beeping and warbling from Chopper joined you soon afterwards, the Astro-mech flying towards you, around the loading dock that everyone who wasn’t a Jedi was in. Chopper nudged onto your leg, moving its head from side to side, almost like a nuzzling manner that your would see from a loth-cat. Zeb chuckled at the sight a bit, earning a quick zap from Chopper, and what could’ve been a curious catering of curse words and what you picked up to be “don’t tell anyone about this”, in droid language. You moved your arm from around your waist, giving Chopper a quick pat on the head, taking your hand back as he rolled away, the sounds of two sets of footsteps bounding closer on the metal of the ground scaring him off to the side.
You looked up slowly, eyes barely meeting Kanan’s, nor Ezra’s.
Well, it’s not like Kanan could actually see you. But he could hear and sense you. And the pain you’re in, despite you not being able to feel it all just yet. And he could tell you were fighting the whole time. Not giving up even the slightest bit of actual information that could help the empire. He was both equal parts relieved and absolutely horrified at that.
Force knows what kind of injuries littered the skin of your body.
Ezra, on the other hand, could see you. He couldn’t even begin to fathom what he saw.
A gulp and a shaky, quiet breath followed after he finally got to see you. A week after that stupid, stupid argument. His eyes were wide, cerulean blues scanning over each and every injury and bruise that came with your battered appearance.
You were his partner.
What did those damned imperial asshats do to his partner!?
“Hey, there’s my favorite Jedi’s!”, you forced out, your voice cutting through Ezra’s thoughts, another smile cutting through the scab on your lip even more.
Kanan gave Ezra a small pat on the back in encouragement, and Ezra wasted no time on jumping over the railing of the top deck, feet firmly planting on the lower deck of the loading dock before he enraptured you into a tight hug that almost knocked you back down onto the ground.
Hera, Sabine, and Zeb were smart enough to back away once Ezra had landed on the lower deck.
You grunted from the force, a pained wheeze accompanying it. ”Easy, Ez, pretty sure you cracked my ribs even more”, you say, sarcasm and a joking lilt covering whatever kind of fears you were feeling right then. Ezra just barely loosened his grip on you, a hand coming up to gently hold onto the back of your head as the other clutched you close around your shoulders.
His eyes were screwed shut, brows furrowed downwards as his chin pressed onto your shoulder, for another reminder that you were there. You were with him. You were in the Ghost.
You were safe.
He was still reeling at hearing the sound of your voice after not hearing it for about a week. Perhaps the longest week ever.
To say that he freaked out the moment he realized you missed your check-in time with Hera was an absolute understatement. He was already antsy during the first two days of your mission. Especially since you guys both said nothing to each other after the argument, you having left not too long afterwards. He already got a bad feeling that wouldn’t stop coursing through him - no matter how hard he tried to will it away - the moment you left him alone after you offhandedly mentioned your task once the argument ended.
And when you missed the check-in time? And the days after that?
He couldn’t sleep at all.
Went through one too many scenarios through his head that made him anxious to no end in sight. Not even Hera or Kanan could help him through that one.
He grew irritable when he was told to wait for further instructions on the matter of your disappearance. He wanted to go out and find you - maybe pay a visit to whoever the hell kept you away from the base for so long. Man, even Sabine and Zeb were willing to join him on that endeavor before the transmission from Fulcrum came through. Once Fulcrum said your name and stated the now-debunked-as-true rumors of you being captured in an imperial facility for questioning, all thoughts of his previous idea flew out the window.
He remembers how the air left his lungs when Zeb’s voice crackled through the comms to speak to Hera about finding you, Kanan and him being tapped into the frequency just incase anything else happened while they were on the Ghost, waiting for the rest of the Spectres to come home with you in tow with them for the escape. It was difficult to breathe for a few seconds.
Zeb found you.
And then, of course, he remembers the fear and anger that rushed in at what Zeb said about your state of being. What he wouldn’t give to have beat up whoever thought was a good idea to torture people for information - especially whoever thought it was a good idea to do that to you. Everyone knew immediately what Zeb was referring to when he said you didn’t look too good. You were injured. And from Zeb’s tone of voice, the injuries were bad.
And now, here you were. Held in his arms, safe back on the home you called the Ghost, with him being absolutely unable to bring himself out of the hug. He can breath easier now, now that you’re at home.
“Ez, ‘m fine”, you said with a laugh. Still trying to remain calm. “You can let go of me, y’know?”
Ezra shook his head no stubbornly, eyebrows furrowing inwards a bit more for just a second at the idea, knowing damn well he got a roll from the eyes from you. That wasn’t going to change his mind about holding you at all.
“Ezra seriously my ribs are starting to hurt—“
He loosened his grip enough to pull away from you, not before pulling a surprising move and lifting you up into his arms. One arm still clung around your shoulders, and the other hooked underneath your knees. You gasped in surprise at the action, but the gasp was a little to sharp for your body’s reaction, so immediately afterwards you coughed away from him and into your elbow, trying to catch your breath, your other arm slung around Ezra’s neck instinctively.
After a bit more of you catching your breath after a few seconds, Ezra sighs shortly in relief, and makes his way towards the ladders with you, still in his arms. The adrenaline was still there for you, just slowly waning, enough for you to get tired enough not to protest Ezra’s actions.
“What are you doing?”, Hera asked him once he started climbing out the ladder to the deck above the loading dock. The arm around your shoulders was helping him climb, your arm strong enough to hold yourself up, while his other arm stayed hooked underneath your legs.
“Gonna help with their injuries.”, he told Hera curtly.
“We have a team of medics at the base to—“
“I know.”
Ezra’s voice was sharp at that answer, even just the slightest bit of annoyed, stunning a bit of silence out of Hera at his reaction. The rest of the crew watched as he disappeared back into the Ghost with you wrapped up in his arms.
For a second, Hera took a step towards the ladders, having half a mind to follow the two of you, before Kanan’s voice called out to her from the balcony.
“Let him help. They’ll be fine with him. Think they both need some time together after the past week we just had.” He explained to her calmly. Hera only stared at him for a long minute, before looking at a random part of the Ghost below them both, sighing at his words.
He was right.
You both needed this.
—————————————
“You really said that to the guy?”, Ezra asked incredulously, voice the softest it’s ever been around you. He was busy cleaning off the dried blood from your visible cuts, having already just cleaned, bandaged, and put burn salve on the electrical burns all over your middle and sides. The burn salve was long over due for them, and you visibly relaxed when the burns were finally covered in the soothing, cooling substance. That should take away the sting that ebbed away at your nerves.
“Hey, it really was the definition of insanity in there!”, you said with a chuckle as you defended your word choices. Which, granted, prompted you to get choked by the guy before Zeb stepped in, so it probably wasn’t the best word choice, but still. It was better than nothing. “Couldn’t help it, Ezra. I spend too much time with you to not say something, yknow.”
That comment coaxed a small smile out of Ezra, a gentle hum of a chuckle already being pushed through him. But it still wasn’t enough to make him laugh all the way. At least it got him to smile, though, even for a little bit.
He was cleaning off a couple of the cuts on one of your hands, attention staying on that hand as he let the small smile turn the corners of his mouth upwards.
“There’s the smile I missed for the past week”, you said, your other hand coming up to cup the left side of his cheek. Your thumb lightly grazed over the two shallow indents of scars left by the inquisitors a couple years prior, and he leaned into the feeling of your hand on his cheek, stopping his small mission of getting you patched up himself, and relishing in your touch. Even if it’s for a few seconds before he got back to work.
One week without any knowledge of how you were doing was enough to make him realize how much he really, really missed you during the longer missions. He missed your hugs, your talks, the banter. He’d give anything to prevent another week like this one from happening again.
One week without him around was enough to make you worry. What kind of lengths he’d go through to get anyone back. To get you back. That is, if he fully turned to the darkside of the Force. Sure, two sides of the same coin with the light side of the Force and everything, but it still harbored some level of fear in you. Luckily, though, it seemed like Kanan knocked some sense in him. That or your disappearance and subsequent torturing - but honestly you’re hoping it’s not the latter. You’re just glad he’s ok. That he isn’t hurt. That he’s here and he’s safe, and that you protected the secrets of the Ghost and Chopper Base without breaking to anything the imperial facility threw at you. That was an accomplishment in its own right. And you were glad that you were able to keep those secrets safe.
And that you were able to keep Ezra safe.
You were pulled out of your thoughts when a thumb swiped over the split cut that was on your lower lip. Ezra just barely grazed it, but it still hurt, and made you wince a little bit at the touch. Only by a smidge.
To cover that up, however, you decided to joke around a bit.
“If you wanted a kiss you could’ve just asked”, you said, snickering a little at Ezra’s eye roll, and the red that began to tinge his ears. He closed his eyes and shook his head with a chuckle, and your smile grew. That got him to laugh.
His hand moved to hold the side of your neck, just below your jawline. Part of his hand still rested on it, more so at the corner, and just underneath the skin of your ear. The touch was careful, and his thumb lightly brushed against the bruising on your jaw. He gently pulled your head closer, and his forehead lightly bumped against yours, his nose lightly nudging against the side of your own, all in an attempt to get more calm and comfortable.
And it worked.
He took in a breath, and let out a sigh, the tension in his shoulders finally leaving after a couple seconds of the breath.
“Sorry about the argument”, he mumbled the apology, eyes tilted downwards, focus on the ground. “I shouldn’t have—“
“Hey”, you cut him off, knuckle from your free hand coming up, gently nudging his chin up so he could look at you, eyes that swirled with the power of the Force onto yours, that only caught the reflection of the light in the room, and the reflection of Ezra in front of you. “That was just a stupid argument. That doesn’t matter now.”
“But it does!”, he exclaimed in a whisper, irises boring into yours. You swear, you could see your own soul reflected through them. ”I went out of line and blamed you for being careless and—“
“You really think that argument has any affect on me right now?”, you ask, raising a brow. “Karabast, I was literally tortured, I would love to go back to when that argument was the most of my worries.”
That was only last week that that argument happened. So trivial, compared to the events that unfurled.
So trivial compared to the burns on your sides, the ache in your ribs, the twinges of pain from your bruises and the black eye that plagued your left eye.
It hurt emotionally, sure.
But what you wouldn’t give to go back to that being the only kind of pain that swirled in your mind.
Before even you realized what was happening, through the haze of the loud thoughts that made up your mind at the moment, Ezra’s other hand disconnected from the rag that cleaned up your dried blood, and reconnected with your other cheek on the other side of your face, away from the black eye. He nudged away a stray tear with one of his knuckles, and brushed his thumb over the swell of your cheek once more began to slowly tumble out. Mainly from the one eye you could actually see out of properly, the one eye that went wide after you mentioned the torture you endured, the one eye that let that tear go loose, providing other tears with enough confidence to start falling as well.
“I was tortured, Ezra.” Your voice went quiet, strained.
It was only then that you realized just how horrified you were.
Strange, how some feelings of anxiety didn’t pop up until way later, once you were actually processing whatever kind of traumatic event you just went through. Other times the anxiety bubbles up pretty quickly, during whatever you were going through - even if it was just a normal, calm situation that somehow made your anxiety act up. But this time, it took you a week to actually feel the damned fear that wouldn’t actually allow you to sleep very much throughout the time you were being held at the facility.
Then again, you were also doing your best to keep a level head the whole time. To keep yourself from spilling anything. To keep yourself sane.
Maybe it was the fact that you were finally in the comfort of your own home, in front of your partner no less, that made you feel comfortable enough to grab onto the bad feelings again, rather than to just force them down until they were too much for you.
Your eyes blurred Ezra out of focus due to the burning tears that bubbled up behind your eyelids. You screwed them both shut, and gulp with a shaky breath. Ezra furrowed his brow again - this time, however, they were pointed more upwards than downwards.
Still keeping his hands in the same places on your neck and cheek, he lifted his head from resting against yours and pressed a soft kiss to your forehead, staying there for a couple seconds, just to linger. Mainly for his own comfort, to remind himself you were physically there with him, and also to remind you of that as well.
After that he wrapped you up in another hug, gentler this time. One you leaned into, your forehead coming to rest on his shoulder, near the crook of his neck. The hand on your cheek moved to the back of your head, lightly pressed into your hair, and his other hand on the side of your neck, just under your jawline and ear, moved to your back, pulling you forward for the hug that you graciously accepted.
He nudged his nose onto the crown of your head, placing another soft and comforting kiss there. “Took you that long to figure it out, huh?”, he murmured, voice soft with an air of humor. Just the slightest lilt to make things much less strenuous than they seemed.
“Shut up, Bridger”, you sniffed, lightly punching his arm, a chuckle spilling out between the both of you. The hug tightened just a little bit, the hand you punched Ezra’s arm with holding onto the sleeve of his orange jacket he always wore.
“Sorry, sorry”, he apologized, laying his cheek down on the top of your head. “Had to joke about this somehow, right?”
You let out a breathy laugh, followed by a sigh, quiet and exhausted. “Right…”
A silence fell over the two of you. Ezra let out a sigh through his nose a couple minutes into it. “You’re safe now, ok? You know that, right?”
The message was quiet, a soft mumble only meant for your ears. The tension in your own shoulders began to ease a little, much like his minutes beforehand.
Your arm moved from his jacket to around his neck again, pulling the hug even closer, just to be nearer to him. Just for more comfort. For your peace of mind to remind yourself that you’re home.
You’re safe.
You’re with Ezra.
Things are fine for now.
Everything will be alright for now.
Just for right now. Which is all you could ask for at that moment.
“I know.”, you mumbled back. You sigh out of relief, of being there with Ezra, in the comforting arms of home, in the surprisingly comforting metal rooms of home, deciding against breaking the hug for the time being.
Until Ezra broke it himself.
“Oh c’mon, Ez!”, you complained. “I was just getting comfortable, dude!”
“You were falling asleep on me”, he responded back, grabbing the rag he was using to clean off the dried blood from your injuries strewn about your skin. He stood up to get more water for it, along with a cooler ice-pack for the nasty bruise on your eye.
“Like I said, I was just getting comfortable!”
“You can get comfortable and sleep on my shoulder after I’m done taking care of your injuries - and after we’re sure you don’t have a concussion.”
“I’m pretty sure I don’t have a concussion.”
“I’m not convinced.”
You groan, leaning back on your arms as Ezra gathers the supplies you need from one of the medical kits that came from the medical crates you were supposed to get from your mission beforehand. “Stars, you’re just as stubborn as Chopper - like friend like droid, y’know?”, you say with a playful scoff.
Ezra laughed. It was less of a chuckle now, more genuine. Good. You liked it when he laughed. “I could say the same thing about you, y’know—“ you interrupted him with a indignant noise, absolutely appalled that he would ever compare your stubbornness to the astro-mech. You were the only one allowed to do that, how dare he?
“I’m not that stubborn—“
Another laugh bubbled out from Ezra, and you couldn’t help but smile at it. It was a noise that never failed to brighten your day, even in the darkest of hours.
A chuckle made it’s way out of your throat again as a smile pulled at the corners of your mouth, and you shook your head a little, the banter between you both continuing. Just like normal.
Just like home.
Maybe some things were definitely worth getting tortured over.
If you could keep the base safe, the Ghost safe, and Ezra safe, you’d do it all over again, no matter what.
You’d always protect your home from the Empire.
Even if your home wasn’t always protecting you.

Now, Ezra wasn’t one to jump to conclusions, but what other conclusion was there?
You had to hate his guts. You refused to look at him and you wouldn’t talk to him, not to mention the glare you weren’t at all trying to hide. Sabine told him to not worry about it, that you would open up on your own time. Somehow, Ezra doubted that.
Hera told him something similar about giving you time, and he understood why; it’d only been a week since your grand and harrowing rescue from the clutches of the Hutts (the crew had yet to tell him why you needed rescuing in the first place).
A few months into joining the crew, it became clear that someone was missing. Sabine’s room held the belongings of another, another person’s blanket and pillow situated on the bottom bunk. An utterance of a stranger’s name was sometimes whispered, accompanied by shadowed looks and a tense silence.
When he got up the nerve to ask, Hera had pursed her lips and crossed her arms. “There’s a reason you’re Spectre 7, not 6. Six is… somewhere.”
“How do we find them?”
Hera hadn’t given an answer, simply letting out a sigh and turning to go back to her tasks.
So the mystery of Spectre 6 lived on, remnants of this girl coming to him in pieces. Little jokes here and there about how Six would yell about this or how she would laugh at that. Ezra started to piece together an image of this girl in his head, imagining a smiling figure with fuzzy features, doing flips and handstands across his mind.
“If only Six was here,” Zeb commented into his comlink as he and Ezra balanced across a skinny support beam. “Little acrobat would come in handy.”
Kanan and Sabine stayed up at odd hours of the night when they weren’t aware Ezra was watching from around the corner, mumbling to themselves as they scoured databases for clues as to where the lost Spectre had gone.
“Bingo,” Sabine grinned, frantically tapping Kanan’s arm. “The mercenaries that took her are from Corellia.”
Kanan set a hand on her shoulder. Hope flashed in his eyes. “Good work. We’ll get her back soon.”
Whoever she was, she sure meant a lot to the crew. So much so that he started to grow bitter at whatever had taken her away—Ezra started to want her back just as much as the rest of them.
And so naturally, when Vizago crawled out whatever hole he dwelled in to drop off a message from the Hutts, Ezra was a rapt listener—it went something along the lines of, “Take back your sewer rat… for five thousand Imperial credits.”
“We don’t have that money,” said Sabine, her voice a new dangerous low. Her eyes lasered in on the table before her as a sense of fury rose within the common.
Zeb scoffed, his fists curling. “Why weren’t the Hutts out first guess? Of course they wanted her back.”
“Why?” Ezra asked without thinking.
While Zeb’s eyes flashed darkly, Kana answered offhandedly, “Back before we found her, she worked for them—the Hutts—she was their prize weapon.”
“We got her out,” Hera said softly. “But a few weeks before you got here… she went out on a solo mission.” She hugged herself. “I shouldn’t have let her go.”
“She would’ve gone whether you let her or not,” Sabine quipped. “That’s how she is.”
Ezra stepped forward and set his hands on the table everyone gathered around, his eyes raising to assess his friends. “Let’s stop talking about it and make a plan. She can’t be safe there.”
The rescue mission itself was near flawless; Kanan and Hera went forward with a crate “full of credits.” Plot twist: there were no credits. Coming in behind them, Sabine and Chopper infiltrated the lower kitchens of the Hutts’ headquarters, taking out a few droids and taking one prisoner. With a few gentle threats, Sabine sent word to Zeb and Ezra exactly where Spectre 6 was being held.
That was where the plan went awry; while Zeb was held back by a wary yet naive droid, Ezra slipped past unnoticed, casting Zeb a wave as he dove around a corner and headed deeper into the fortress.
Finding the cell wasn’t much of a problem, nor was getting the door open—the problem at hand was getting you out of the cell.
You were curled into a shadowed corner like some kind of alley cat, eyes lifting to gaze upon him with nothing but contempt. From the moment he saw you, he had the sense you disliked his very being.
Somehow—he still wonders how—he managed to convince you he was with the Ghost crew, luring you out of the cell and leading you to where the others had started up a racket after getting caught with no payment. The final escape was slim, and your hair was singed from a too-close blaster fire.
Ezra noticed, eyes wide as he moved to swat at the slowly rising smoke. “Are you okay?”
You swatted him away, glare ready and waiting. “Fine.” And you disappeared, rushing deep into the ship with a frazzled Hera on your tail.
His every attempt at communication after was met with backlash. You really did seem like a cat in his mind, all hissy and skittish.
“Be patient,” is what everyone told him, but really, it was getting out of hand. After three months of your return, you had yet to drop your hatred, and it was starting to interfere in missions.
Just last week he’d been about to make a shot that would have saved time concerning a quick escape when you completely ignored his presence and tripped him.
“Sorry,” you’d said, not sounding very sorry at all.
That wasn’t the end of it either.
“Do you need something?”
“Go be useful, if you can.”
“Could you be more amazingly purposeless here?”
Ezra had to give it to you, you certainly had a knack for tearing down a guy’s self-esteem. Each insult seemed to roll off your tongue so easily that Ezra came to correlate your voice with a bad day.
You could not possibly have made Ezra feel more unwelcome, despite everyone’s assurances that you’d warm up eventually. Ezra started to question the crew’s definition of eventually. He really hoped you would start to like him soon, because you were quite possibly one fo the coolest people he’d ever seen.
When you weren’t actively making his life difficult, you were training day in and day out, practicing acrobatics atop the Ghost. Not to mention, if he and Kanan didn’t have some sixth sense thanks to the Force, your movements would be deadly silent. You moved like a specter, like your feet never even touched the ground.
Today was like most days in accordance with you; you ignored his existence save for the occasional backlash whenever he stepped into your vicinity, and Ezra was left to wonder after the dark and nearly forlorn look constantly trapped in your eyes (he always tried to despise you, like he could easily despise Zeb at times, but there was something in how lost you looked that stopped him).
Though, today was different. Every once in a while you took to the habit of taking his beloved helmet for reasons only the stars could know. On these days he could scour the Ghost to find you lazing about like a cat, donning his helmet as you stared at the expanse of sky from the gunner.
So he immediately set out for the gunner of the ship, already preparing his quippy remark, only to falter when you were nowhere in sight. Ezra squinted at the vacant seat, zeroing in on the dual beskar knives safely in their sheathes. Beskar, he awed for the umpteenth time. He’d asked after them too many times to count, only receiving one answer from Sabine: “We used to have similar lines of work. She was very skilled at hers. That came with perks.”
And the mystery of you expanded, as it always did.
“Hey.” Ezra looked into the dimness of your and Sabine’s room, finding the latter at her desk fiddling with her recently damaged blaster. “You seen Six?”
“Why?” She sighed as her blaster sparked up again. “You gonna start problems?”
“Okay, one, I never start anything with her. Two, I just want my helmet back.”
Sabine threw her blaster down, frustrated. “Haven’t seen her today. You checked the gunner?”
“Three times, just in case she was hiding.” That got a laugh from Sabine, who shifted to stand and stretch.
“Then I dunno how to help you, kid. She’s gotta be somewhere.”
That would have been fine advice, if for the rest of the day Ezra didn’t continue searching the recesses of the ship, his intent slowly shifting from demanding back his helmet to just making sure you’re still alive.
Ezra burst into the common room around the time the whole crew was gathering to grab something to eat at the end of the day, his hands planted on either side of the door as he said with a sudden urgency. “Has anyone seen Six?”
Sabine had the nerve to roll her eyes. “Again with the helmet? She’ll give it back—”
“Has anyone seen her?” Ezra cut in to demand once more, scanning his eyes across the room. “Think.”
Only a moment passed before the others started to furrow their brows and shift around. Hera glanced up at Ezra. “Not since this morning.”
A murmur of agreement ran through the crew. No one had seen her all day, neither had they heard her voice from across the ship, shouting about something or other that someone had done wrong.
Thus, the manhunt began, but even when everyone was shouting your name throughout the ship, there was no response. Lothal’s moons had already risen about halfway into the sky. Creatures started to come out at this hour, varying from the wild things to troopers.
You were out on the Lothal plains after dark, without your knives, and Ezra suddenly forgot every wrong you’d done against him. You were a pain in his ass, but if you were gone, he wasn’t sure what he’d do.
Setting out was the easy part, Hera and Chopper staying behind to watch the Ghost whilst the others rushed into the night, armed with their weapon of choice. Ezra took one of the stolen speeders stowed away in the hold, swinging a leg over and taking off across the plains as Sabine took the second speeder in the other direction.
Ezra tried to ignore the wind hitting his face and focused solely on the hum of the speeder, the sway of the tall grasses, and the sudden and faint flutter of a heartbeat somewhere in the distance. Over the course of his training with Kanan, Ezra took to secretly memorizing the sound of your spirit, not wanting to be on the receiving end of your notorious sneak attacks.
Practically shutting off everything other sense, he leaned to the right, following the ringing of your heart and soul deeper into the plains. The grasses grew taller here, unhindered by farming, and rocks stretched high into the sky, forming a sort of labyrinth between them. He weaved the speeder in and out of several stone mountains, sensing the ring growing closer.
The ground elevated into a slope as the rocks fell away to reveal dusty ground, and Ezra took a left at the very last large mountain. It opened up to a bluff overlooking the East. Ezra slowed the speeder to a light rev, the ringing now a strong buzz, and your heart a steady beat in his head.
You were here, that was for sure.
Cutting the ignition, Ezra stepped off the speeder and sauntered forward, eyes scanning the area. Just when the buzz and ring of the force grew too much, Ezra caught a movement ahead of him, and the sounds all fell away. A figure was sprawled out on the grass, shifting every few seconds like they couldn’t get comfortable.
Then the figure sighed, and Ezra confirmed it was you (he’d heard that agitated sound enough times to know it as yours).
Ezra should have learned by now to proceed with extreme caution, but he had always been a stubborn learner, so he trudged through the grass uncaring of the crunching underfoot. You lurched upward like a frightened animal, eyes locked on him in her instant. Ezra instantly drew a mental image of a loth cat, hackles risen and fangs bared. The likeness was uncanny.
“What’re you doing here?” You sat back slowly, examining him carefully.
He nearly scoffed. “I was about to ask you the same thing.”
Blinking blankly, you turned and plopped down on the grass, facing the plains. He stood for an awkward few moments before you snapped, “I’m fine. You can go.”
“Yeah, right.” He plopped down in the dirt beside you, a generous berth between you. “You scared the kark out of everyone.”
Your answer was instantaneous. “Why?”
Ezra paused, thought some, looked at you, and spat the awkward words out. “We care about you.”
You waited for the blow, the butt of the joke, but it never came, and you were left awkwardly staring at his profile. “Oh.”
“Is that a surprise?” he wondered.
“No,” you shook your head. “Not for the others…”
Ezra rolled his eyes and leaned back on his hands, unable to take it any longer. “Can I ask you something? Why do you hate me so much?”
You blinked as if the question shocked you, and wasn’t at all valid. “What? I don’t hate you.”
“Coulda fooled me,” he scoffed. You huffed and turned away, crossing your arms over your knees.
“Well, I don’t. You’re just…”
“Just what?”
Pursing your lips, your eyes darted back to meet his, brows furrowed. “Annoying.”
Ezra met your gaze back with a mirrored intensity. “And you’re rude.”
“I wouldn’t be if you’d leave me alone.”
“We’re on this crew together!” he snapped. “I physically cannot ignore you. So, if you could get over whatever grudge you have against me, that’d be great!”
“Don’t—” You got a grip on your emotions, averting your attention to the sky. In a softer tone, you warned, “Don’t yell at me.”
Taken aback, Ezra gave you an odd look, shifting to catch your eye. You just shifted further away from him, grunting something under your breath. You’d always been so haunted and withdrawn. No one would ever tell him why.
It couldn’t hurt to ask.
“Are you…” He hesitated, waiting till you cast him a glance. “Are you okay? Why were you with the Hutts? And what does it have to do with bounty hunters? Why—”
You sneered as your hand clamped down on his mouth, nearly knocking him backward. Holding his eyes in a glare, you huffed. “Just shut up, okay? You ask too many questions.” You plopped back down and retracted your hand. “Annoying, like I said.”
“I want to help you.”
“Did I ask?”
The silence was thick, broken only by the chirping of bugs in the tall stalks all around. You ran a hand over your face, almost trying to hide, before sighing and glaring at the sky. “Whatever… I used to be something of a bounty hunter. A weapon, more like.”
Ezra felt like that should have been obvious, and did his best to hold back his questions as you shifted uncomfortably. “Some bad people with the Guild found me as a kid, when I was just some nobody doing acrobat tricks for money. They thought I had potential, so they just… took me. Didn’t really matter. It was better than the streets, I guess.”
Tugging at your hair, you gave a little shrug. “They taught me a lot about killing and stealing and what-not. Long story short, I was sold to the Hutts like this shiny new assassin toy.” You pumped a fist. “Yay.”
He felt a little bad for grinning, sniffing as he nodded. “Then what? You got here somehow.”
“I’m getting there,” you gritted. You tried to look pissed, but couldn’t hold back a slight grin. “Sabine found me, like, a year before they found you. She was on a mission, and I tried to pick-pocket her. She chased me a mile around the city before she caught me.  A shorter story short, the crew helped me escape the Hutts, and the rest is history.”
One thing still didn’t add up. “How’d the Hutts get you back?”
“Oh, uhm… they caught me.” There is was again; haunted, a shadow crossing your eyes as memories played up in your head. “I, uh, didn’t think the crew would come after me, to be honest. I kinda resigned myself to a life trapped on Tatooine.”
You caught his eye. “Then you showed up and broke me out.”
“Was that such a surprise?”
“Maybe. I mean,” you murmured whilst playing with the grass. “It didn’t take too long for them to replace me, did it?”
And suddenly, it all fell perfectly into place. All the hatred and coldness, the malice and contempt… you thought they’d replaced you. Really? Ezra coudln’t stop the laugh bubbling out of his chest, not even when you shot him a deathly glower.
“What’s so funny?”
“You just—What?” Ezra shifted ot his knees, beaming down at you as he shook his head. “They never replaced you. All I ever heard when I joined was about this mysterious crewmate they’d lost.” He flicked your forehead. “If they replaced you, then why’re you still Spectre 6 and I’m Spectre 7?”
You started to snap back only to stop short, gaping like a fish as you grasped for some kind of defense. You couldn’t find one, apparently, and promptly snapped your mouth shut.
“I never thought of that,” you muttered at last.
No duh. Ezra barely held back a roll of his eyes. “Think about it then.”
You did (he could tell form your thoughtful sneer) and you slowly raised your gaze to look at him again. The haunting was still there, but your eyes were softer than they’d ever been when laid upon him. “I’m… sorry.” The way your face scrunched up amde it seem like ti was painful to say, your monotone going on, “The way I’ve treated you hasn’t been fair.”
“Thanks,” he said with a gentle nod, and an awkwardness settled around the pair of you. “So… wanna head back?”
Instantly you shook you head, returning your attention to the sky. “Not yet. Wanna watch the stars.”
He noticed your lack of jacket just as he shivered. “You’ve gotta be cold.”
“Eh,” you shrugged. “I’m fine. You can head back if you want.”
Ezra didn’t move an inch. All he could think wa sthat maybe, he was finally going to get to know the Six the crew knew. The one who laughed freely and pulled tricks. The one that played hide and seek with Kanan and was always so frustrated when he cheated and used to force to find you.
So he stayed right where he was, lazing back on the grass to have a better view of the sky. “Nah. I’ll stay.”
You cast him a short glance as you laid back as well. “Okay…”
Only an hour later, when you’d fallen asleep and punched Ezra when he tried to wake you (“I’m sorry!” “Yeah, yeah.”), did you and Ezra head back to the Ghost. You kept falling asleep on him, forcing him to use one hand to steer the speeder and the other to keep you hands around his middle.
Relief coursed through him when he caught sight of the ship, warm light flowing from the open hatch, a few silhouetted figures pacing back and forth. He pulled the speeder to a stop and leg you go, sighing even as you slid off and hit the ground with a thud.
Probably not the best choice, especially not when Hera bolted from where she sat and rushed to your side. “What happened? It she all right?” She glared up from the ground. “Ezra!”
He raised his hands in surrender, trying to defend himself, when you groaned and blinked blearily around. “Why am I on the ground…?”
Hera gripped your shoulder and held your face in her palm, startling you. “Are you okay?”
You nodded hesitantly and tried not to seem too content with the soft touches. “Yeah? I was just asleep.”
Harsh footsteps echoed form the ship and out stomped Zeb moments later, rough around the edges per usual. “Where’ve you been!?”
“Uhm, out?” you replied, brows vaulted as Sabine rushed out beyond him. The whole crew stood around, all looking a mix of relieved and pissed. “I was just up on the bluffs…”
Hera let out a sigh and allowed you to sit up on your own. “And that’s fine, but you should tell someone before you disappear all afternoon.”
“I didn’t think it mattered that much.” You shifted around and stood to your feet, crossing your arms over your chest.
No one really said anything, only exchanged odd glances, until Hera blinked quickly and set a hand on your shoulder. “You look cold. Come on.”
She made to guide you inside when you suddenly stopped, turned to Ezra, and grinned tightly. “You’re… not so bad.”
And with that, Hera dragged you into the warmth fo the Ghost, leaving behind you a fairly confused crew. All eyes fell to Ezra as he smirked and gave a simple shrug. Sabine offered up a smile of her own before she snapped and pointed at the boy. “Oh, you were looking for your helmet right?”
He’d completely forgotten. “Oh, yeah.”
She passed a hand over his hair, ruffling it up. “It’s under your desk, idiot.”
Ezra huffed, hiding the flush in his cheeks as he muttered under his breath, following after Zeb and Sabine as they headed inside the ship. The hatch rose up behind them and hissed shut just as Kanan came up beside Ezra, one brow raised.
“So you two are friends now?”
He rolled his eyes at that. “I think so? She’s very cryptic. But, I don’t think she hates me.”
Kanan laughed. “That’s a start, I suppose.”
Ezra had to agree.
And as time would pass, and your walls slowly tore down to reveal a human so bright and radiant, both you and Ezra nearly forgot all about the days you’d come close to murdering him.

hello!!! sosoosososo sw rebels. gn reader and ezra and reader have a sibling relationship. in my mind its like zeb and ezra but tamer .. if you can somehow fit hurt/comfort into the story thatd be fun!!! but ty for reading and doing this request if you do!!! 🫶🫶
I don't know if this is tamer than Ezra and Zeb but it's kinda like a mashup of Ezra and Zeb and Ezra and Sabine. That being said be ready for my favorite Star Wars ship and the parents of the Ghost family to be very good parents.
Also Hera's voice actress also voices Black Canary on Young Justice and between this and the Shadow Of A Bluejay series I think you can tell I want her to be my mom.
Am I slightly projecting? Is the reader Autistic coded? Who knows but I found myself projecting my own communication issues on Mandalorians so...

"Y/N"...
"Y/N"...
The doors to your room opened but you didn't look up, you were after all very comfortable on your top bunk polishing your blaster.
"You know one micro movement and I can splatter your insides on that wall right?" You asked, still not looking up from your blaster.
"You wouldn't do that" Ezra said confidently.
"I might not mean to, seeing as you keep coming in here without knocking" You told the slightly younger boy. He rolled his eyes.
"I was calling your name" Ezra said.
"And I wasn't listening" You replied.
"Well that's not my fault" He said.
"What do you want anyway shorty?" You asked and that got to him.
"We are the same height!" He exclaimed.
"No we're not" You said calmly.
"It is by half a centimeter, it's the same height" He insisted.
"No. It's not" You reiterated.
"You know what, forget it" Ezra said, storming out of your room.
"Oh come on, you know I'm joking" You said, finally putting the blaster away and going after Ezra.
It had only been a few months since the kid joined, maybe you were a bit too comfortable with your teasing but you thought it was a game.
"Ezra come back here!" You yelled after the little streak of blue hair you saw running out of the open hull of the Ghost.
"What's going on here exactly?" Hera asked, she'd heard yelling and saw Ezra run off.
"He just ran off!" You told her but she raised a brow in question.
"Okay, maybe there was some teasing but he came into my room without knocking. That's against the rules" You told her.
"You gotta let up on him, he's not used to... well to you yet. And you can be a lot sometimes kid" She said. You supposed she was right. She was far from the first person to tell you that.
Still you looked out at the direction that Ezra ran to. You were parked by a mountain with some caves on Lothal, decently far from any major cities and very much in the middle of nowhere so he had to come back sooner or later... right?
Later came and he still wasn't back. It was getting closer to sunset and you were getting worried.
"He'll be back before sundown, don't worry so much" Kanan told you as you paced the hull of the Ghost. He still wasn't back. He must have been really mad at you.
You grumbled, "I didn't mean to upset him so much, really I— I just—"
"Hey" Kanan said, lightly shaking your shoulder, "He'll come back and you'll tell him just that." he said.
Do you really think he'll come back?" You asked.
"It's not like he'd spend the night in a cave" Kanan said. Well nighttime rolled in and Ezra still wasn't back.
"That's it. I'm going to find him" You said, grabbing a flashlight and walking out.
"Aren't you going to stop them?" Zeb asked but Kanan just shrugged.
"They're big kids, they'll figure this out themselves" He said, "Besides when was the last time it was this quiet on here?" He asked, kicking back and laying his feet on the holotable.
Chopper beeped sassily.
"Yeah well no one asked for your opinions chop" Kanan retorted.
You started by going in the direction you saw Ezra run in hours ago but it's been so long he could practically be anywhere.
"Ezra!" You called out.
"Ezra! It's me! Can you please come back?" You yelled out into the mountains and heard it echoing back.
"Great" You grumbled. You kept walking, the flashlight and the stars being the only ones lighting your way.
You eventually found Ezra, sitting in the entrance of a shallow cave carved into one of the mountains.
"Ezra?" You asked and he scooted away from you.
"What do you want?" He asked and you stopped. Every step closer to him you took he kept scooting away on the floor of the cave.
"It's dark..." You said, trailing off.
"Yeah, and what do you care?" He asked.
"Well you weren't back and everyone was worried" You answered.
"So where's everyone else?" He asked.
"Well..."
"Just leave me alone." He said.
"Look, I get it, your mad at me and maybe a crossed a line but can you please just come back to the Ghost? It's dangerous out here" You tried to tell him.
"I'm fine. I made it out here all on my own before and I can do it again" Ezra said.
"Yeah but you don't have to. Come on Ezra, let's just go home and—"
"The Ghost is not my home!" He yelled and it echoed through the cave.
"Ezra"
"I get it, you don't like me, you don't have to pretend. Just go away and leave me alone" Ezra said, turning his back to you.
"You know what? Fine! Die alone in a cave for all I care, I'm going back to the Ghost! You do whatever you want" You said and stormed off.
When you came back to the Ghost alone Kanan looked a bit worried.
"You didn't find him?" He asked.
"Oh I found him but if he wants to be a jerk he can be a jerk in a cave." You said, walking past him and straight back to your room.
Hera, who had been sitting beside Kanan looked at him.
"Do you wanna take the moody teenager or the runaway kid?" She asked and Kanan sighed.
"I'll take the kid" He said and went out to find Ezra meanwhile Hera went to knock on your door.
It didn't take Kanan long to find Ezra, still holed up in the cave where you found him, throwing pebbles at the walls of the cave in frustration and grumbling to himself.
"Hey" Kanan said.
"Hey" Ezra replied and Kanan took a seat on the ground o the cave.
"You had us a bit worried back there" Kanan said.
"Yeah well I only go where I'm wanted." Ezra said.
"We want you on the Ghost. You know that" Kanan told him.
"Y/N obviously doesn't" The boy replied.
"Sit down" Kanan told him and Ezra turned around.
"What for?" He asked.
"Just do it" Kanan said and Ezra eventually did, sitting down beside the older Jedi.
"Why do you think Y/N doesn't want you around?" Kanan asked his padawan.
"Cause" Ezra replied.
"Cause what?" Kanan asked.
"Cause they're always such a jerk. I mean, I just wanted to ask if they wanted to hang out and they were—" "Being Y/N?" Kanan asked.
"Well yeah" Ezra replied.
"Listen, I'm gonna tell you something but you have to promise not to tell anyone I told you" Kanan said.
"Why?" Ezra asked.
"Cause if Y/N found out I told you they'd have my head" Kanan replied humorously before clearing his throat a bit.
"Y/N's a bit rougher around the edges than the rest of us, well except maybe Chopper" Kanan began.
"You're telling me" Ezra grumbled.
"But there's a good reason for it. They lost everything when they were really young and the Empire took over Mandalore." Kanan explained, "They survived by being tough. By not showing any weakness and the verbal sparring just came along naturally"
"So they're trying to show me they're tough?" Ezra asked.
"No, they're showing you that they think you're tough and that they care about you" Kanan explained.
"They don't talk that way to people they aren't close to or that they think are weak. And sometimes they take it too far but if anything that's because they think you can take it" He continued.
"So what? All those things are jokes to him? Cause they're not funny" Ezra told him.
"Then tell them that." Kanan told Ezra.
Meanwhile on the Ghost Hera knocked on your door.
"Y/N? May I come in?" She asked.
"Don't bother" You told her but the door still opened and Hera still came in.
"Kanan went to go get Ezra" She said.
"Good for him" You grumbled.
"Do you want to tell me what's going on?" Hera asked and you sighed.
"He hates me" You told her.
"Ezra doesn't hate you, he's upset but he doesn't hate you" Hera said. climbing up to sit beside you on your bunk.
"Yes he does. I went too far again and he hates me" You told her and she sighed.
Ezra didn't reply, he stared off into the dark sky outside the cave.
"They went looking for you when you didn't come back. They didn't mean to go too far" Kanan told Ezra, "And sometimes Y/N doesn't always know how far to take it but trust me kid, they care about you. Heck, they care about you enough to go after you and bring you back. That's not nothing"
"Yeah, I guess" Ezra relented.
"And you care about them too" Kanan said, "Otherwise this wouldn't have bothered you so much so come on, let's get back home"
"Yeah, alright" Ezra relented.
When Kanan and Ezra got back you were awkwardly sitting beside Hera on the couch in the Ghost's lounge. Ezra didn't look particularly confident either as he walked in with Kanan.
...
"Hey" You said after a decently long silence.
"Hi" Ezra Ezra replied.
Kanan and Hera looked at each other. "Alright, we'll be in the cockpit if you need anything" Hera said, dragging Kanan along with her.
"So..." You said and Ezra took a seat beside you.
"Yeah" He said.
"I'm sorry" You both said at the same time and you chuckled.
"I didn't mean to go overboard on the teasing" You said.
"And I didn't mean to be so mean in the cave" He said.
"It's fine, I kind of deserved it. Besides I didn't actually want you to die alone in a cave" You told him.
"You know we're kind of like the siblings in this weird crew" Ezra told you.
"I've never had a younger sibling sibling before" You told him.
"And I've never had an older sibling before" Ezra said.
"So, siblings?" You asked and put your hand out.
"Siblings" Ezra agreed and shook your hand.

★★★★★★★★
You hadn’t expected to spend your evening holding your husband’s hair back in the refresher. In fact, you’d had other plans. But when Hondo was in town…you’d learned to expect this kind of thing. Perhaps it was your mistake to try and do tonight any other way, but you’re still annoyed that Ezra is just so…Ezra when it comes to the former pirate.
“You’re lucky you’re pretty,” you tell him. Ezra is leaning against a cabinet on the floor doing his best to stay upright. Despite your irritation, you’re right there with him, smoothing his sweat-slicked hair away from his face. “Every time,” you say. “It’s like you’re incapable of making good decisions around that man.”
“I think you’re onto something there, sunshine,” he says. “But can we talk about it tomorrow? I feel like I’m going to die right now.”
You let out a deep sigh. “Sure,” you say. “If you promise to never drink pirate moonshine again.”
“It was made on Batuu, so technically it’s moons-shine.”
“You know what? I’m just going to leave.”  You have no intention of leaving.
“I’ll never touch that shit again,” he says. “For you, of course.” And then wretches again.
An hour ago someone at the cantina had called you to come get your idiot husband. They normally would have called Sabine—she was more physically capable of dragging Ezra out of a bar and throwing him into a speeder—but she’s been off planet for the past few weeks and that left you and your droid to come coax Ezra out of the building and get him home.
“I know you had plans,” he says. “I’m so sorry,”
“Too drunk to stand up,” you say, “before the sun’s even fully set!”
“I guess I was just feeling ambitious.”
“When they called me to come get you they were worried you were going to try and fight a Dowutin. Over an insult to Hondo’s ‘honor.’”
“I would never actually—”
“If you weren’t who you are you might have gotten arrested.”
“I know.”
“Ezra, I love you, but I really don’t love this.”
Even still, you’re rubbing his back, holding him steady. There are people you meet at a certain age and somehow, whenever they’re around, you become that age again. You understand this. It just doesn’t make your current predicament any less frustrating..
C2-B35 rolls in grumbling and hands you fresh towels, which you pass off to Ezra, who seems to be regaining his balance as he stands, the nausea abating.
“I think the worst is over, Cee,” Ezra says.
Ceetoo, being a therapy droid ultimately concerned with your wellbeing, chirps and whirrs—a curse-ridden message for Ezra that you don’t bother acknowledging. Because despite her vitriol, the little astromech has been monitoring his vitals since the two of you picked him up earlier.
“Get cleaned up,” you say. “Is there anything you need?”
“You’re too good to me,” he says. “But all I need is you.”
In the kitchen, inhaling a bowl of leftover pasta, you remind yourself that this is not a regular occurrence. You hear the shower running and feel a bit of relief knowing you’ve moved on to the part of the evening where Ezra can take care of himself. Which means the vomiting is over. And given how much of that had gone on earlier, you’re pretty sure he meant it when he said he’d swear off Hondo’s moonshine.
When he emerges he’s wearing just a pair of gray lounge pants and a soft red robe—yours—left open.
Ceetoo is nearby watering her plants and in a series of beeps and whistles she asks if she needs to still be monitoring Ezra.
“I’m good, Cee,” he says. “I just need to rest. And make up for…all of this.”
He slips his arms around your waist and nuzzles your neck before pressing a soft kiss to your temple.
“Feeling better?” you ask.
“Eh…mostly.”
“Still a little drunk?”
“A little.”
You take his face in your hand, brushing your thumb over his cheek before tucking a few wayward curls, still wet from the shower, behind his ear. He leans in as if to kiss you and you stop him. “Not before you drink that water,” you say, pointing to a large glass on the kitchen counter. “All of it.”
“And then?”
You shrug.
“You know I’d do anything for you, sunshine,” he says, his voice low, his lips almost touching your ear.
You reply: “I know.”
***
You’d been dating Ezra for six months when you first met Hondo. Ezra had described the old Weequay as “kind of like an uncle, but not the kind of uncle you call in an emergency…unless it’s like a real emergency, he’ll show up for that.”
And after a night out with Ezra’s “uncle” you wondered if you really knew who you were dating. It wasn’t that the liquor had changed his personality, or even that Hondo had. You just hadn’t seen this side of him before.
“I think I overdid it,” he said.
“You did.”
“I should have warned you.”
“Ezra,” you said. “I don’t know if there’s any way to warn someone that one of your dearest friends is the kind of person who thinks axe-throwing while drunk is a good idea.”
You were walking a rather tipsy Ezra home after what you had thought would be a casual dinner with a quirky family friend. But that was not how time with Hondo would ever go. You’d threatened to leave over the whole axe-throwing throwing thing, but stayed a while when Ezra reluctantly backed down from the challenge.
“I forget that Ezra Bridger cannot hold his liquor,” Hondo had said. “I would do anything for this boy, but he would have made a terrible pirate.”
Ezra looped his arm around your waist and sighed. “With Hondo,” Ezra said, “sometimes it feels like I can go back in time. Like…”
“Like all the time you lost while you were away didn’t happen?”
“You get it,” he said. “Of course you get it.”
“I don’t know if I get it, but I think I know what you’re saying.”
Ezra never got to go through a wild phase—not the way most people did as young adults. Hondo, however, seemed to make space for the chaotic teenager in anyone. Which maybe under other circumstances might have been fine, but Ezra’s limit was usually a pint or two of ale. Tonight there had been Correllian wine. And then shots of something that smelled like explosives.
Just outside of his house now, Ezra mumbled, “I would have been a great pirate.”
You swiped his key card to open the front door and, as soon as he could get to it, he flopped into his bed.
You sighed, watching Ezra struggle to take off his socks. “I’m sure you would have been legendary.”
“Legendary!” he repeated.
You got ready for bed, using the items of yours that had started to collect in the refresher. Some you’d left at Ezra’s place over the last few months. Others Ezra had bought for you, wanting you to feel welcome and at home with him. He called your name, and you went to the kitchen to get him a glass of water, knowing he’d be feeling this in the morning if he didn’t at least try to hydrate.
“Come here,” he said. “Let me hold you.”
When you joined him in bed, he pulled you toward him, undressed now, his skin warm against yours. “I don’t usually drink like this,” he said.
“Yeah, I don’t think I’ve seen you this intoxicated before.”
“That’s on purpose,” he said. “I can’t believe I let myself…you know what? It doesn’t matter. It’s fine. I’m fine.”
“Drink the water,” you told him.
“I will,” he said. “Hey. Hey…can you look at me?”
You tuck his hair behind his ear, let your fingers trail down his neck and along his jawline. “I’ve been looking at you this whole time.”
“I’m just so glad you came out with me tonight. I know Hondo is a lot, but he’s family.”
“He’s probably not too fond of me.”
“Are you kidding? He loved you.”
“Really?”
“How could he not, sunshine?” he said. And after a pause, “Do you know how important you are to me? How much I love you?”
It was the first time either of you had said these words to the other. And you hadn’t expected to hear them as a drunken confession. “Ezra, I—”
“You don’t have to say anything.”
“It’s okay. Just…tell me again when you’re sober.”
“I will.”
He pulled you close and you rested your head on his chest, breathing deeply. He smelled of sweat and alcohol, of course. But also of him. Of a man you’d very much fallen in love with. Sometimes you thought you’d fallen in love with him the day you’d met. But you’d held those words back, wondering sometimes whether Ezra Bridger was the type to settle down.
But now, there was something about the way he stroked your hair as he started to doze off. And when he said “I’ll tell you I love you every day for as long as you’ll have me,” tipsy or not, you believed him.
***
You’re in the kitchen brewing a fresh pot of caf when you hear Ezra stumbling down the hallway, followed by the loth-cats that had been sleeping at his feet.
“You’re never up this early,” he says.
His hair is wild, and he’s wearing a robe—his this time—and not much else. You don’t need to tell him he’s a mess. He knows. And he knows how he got here.
“There’s no Jedi trick for hangovers,” you say. “Or at least that’s what you’ve lead me to believe.”
You put a plate of eggs and two headache tablets on the table and he sits, a look of defeat in his big blue eyes.
“I’d been hoping to make you breakfast today,” he says. “I really kriffed things up last night.”
Ceetoo comes in the front door carrying a shopping bag, looks straight at Ezra and starts grumbling in binary.
“I know,” he says. “I’m profoundly aware of this. Can you please lower your volume?”
You bring two cups of caf to the table and sit beside Ezra. A man who’s stayed up with you through countless nights when your chronic pain was at its worst. Who makes a point of bringing you your favorite tea anytime you have a particularly bad migraine. A man who, when you’d first met, lived on the opposite side of town—but when he found out how difficult your anxiety could get, he started making that long drive to you any time you were struggling and he thought he could help.
He did kriff up last night. But you can’t find it in yourself to hold it against him. “It was a rough night,” you say. “But it’s behind us.”
Sipping his caf he says, “Thank you, love.”
“You would do the same for me.”
“I don’t mean the breakfast. I mean, I do. But you deserve better than a grown man who can’t get his shit together for one night so you can go out with your friends.”
There’s something sheepish about him as he takes your hand, and you see the “boy” Hondo always refers to when he talks about Ezra, despite his being in his forties.
“You have your shit remarkably together ninety-nine percent of the time, Ezra,” you say. “I can make new plans. And you were sick enough yesterday that I think that might be punishment enough.”
Ceetoo grumbles as she brings you a plate of sliced fruit. She’d happily gone to the store for you but had been less than enthusiastic about it when you told her the fruit was for Ezra—she could hold a grudge as well as any organic. But you reminded her of how many times he’d been there for the two of you, and that if you could forgive him for one ruined night, she could, too.
As she’s leaving the kitchen she beeps and whistles: try not to barf.
Ezra laughs. “I’m so glad she doesn’t actually hate me,” he says. “Though sometimes I wonder.”
You sit in silence for a while, listening to the wind blowing a tree branch into the window outside, the birds singing in the garden. And you remember planting that garden with Ezra when you first moved into this house, how you reminded him again that you probably wouldn’t be able to help much with maintaining the garden because of your chronic pain. And he’d taken your hands and told you that he didn’t expect anything of you other than that you being in his life. That just you being here, making a home together—that was enough. He’d wiped the tears from your cheeks when you began to cry, your heart so full it was spilling over.
“How are you feeling?” you ask.
“Better now that I’ve eaten, actually.”
He gives your hand a squeeze before you get up to feed the two tooka cats who have gathered under the table, nipping at your feet. One you’d had when you met Ezra—the other was a three-legged stray Ezra had found living in an alley behind his work, far too friendly to be a street cat. You nearly trip over the little guy as you turn to put the kibble away, only to be steadied by Ezra—you hadn’t even realized he’d gotten up from the table.
“Hey,” he says. “I’ve got you.”
“I was fine,” you insist.
He smiles. “Sure.”
His grin is infectious, and soon you have your arms around his neck, unable to stifle the smile on your own face. He ghosts his fingers along your cheek, his thumb swiping over your bottom lip for a moment before leaning in to kiss you, slow and lingering.
“You can make me dinner tonight,” you tell him.
“And in the meantime?”
You can’t imagine he’s recovered that quickly. But Ezra is always full of surprises. So when he leads you back to the bedroom you follow. He discards your clothing in the hall, piece by piece as you stumble over each other, a feeling of lightness filling you as he kisses your forehead, your nose, your neck before you tumble into bed. And when you find yourself beneath the sheets with Ezra, you’re thinking about how seamlessly he fit into your life, from the very beginning. And now, how perfectly your bodies fit together, his deft hands finding exactly where and how you love to be touched.
He whispers in your ear: “Let me make this up to you.”
And you melt into him, your fingers lacing into his hair as he kisses you deeper, a spark of electricity running through you as if it were the first time he’d ever kissed you.
“You still owe me dinner,” you tell him.
“I’ll give you anything,” he says, pressing a kiss to your clavicle. “Anything you want,” he says, “it’s yours.”
And, if only because he’d never once given you a reason not to, you believe him.

hello!!! Any chance you’d be willing to write an Ezra x Reader with opal and winter??? I read your other Ezra fic and liked it so much I wanted to see another one! Preferably while he’s still with the ghost crew (like 18 or 19), if ya can! Thanks so much 😀
Life Day Conversations
Summary: It’s hard, being on the run from the Empire. You signed up for it, sure, but it’s still hard. Luckily, Ezra is always there to help you feel better about the choices you made.
Pairing: Ezra Bridger x Reader
Word Count: 722
Prompt: Opal - Faithful Love
Warnings: Kind of bittersweet, based off of what I know happens to Ezra
Tagging: @trixie2023 @n0vqni @imabeautifulbutterfly
A/N: So, I still haven't watched Rebels. I just don't have the time, so I hope I didn't butcher him too badly. And I'm sorry if I did.
Tumblr media
“Are you sure you want to stay out here?” Hera asks from the ramp of the ship, shivering as she pulls the thick winter jacket tighter around her, “It’s freezing.”
You glance at her, and flash the smallest smile, “Yeah. Just a little longer. I won’t stay out long, promise.”
“I’ll hold you to it. We can’t afford anyone catching pneumonia.” You hear the sound of her clomping back up the ramp, and you sigh and tilt your head back, your eyes drifting shut.
1 year.
It’s been one year since the day you defected from the empire. A year since the last time you saw your parents, your siblings, your nephews.
You don’t regret it. Not really.
The Empire is made up of monsters, the worst kinds of monsters. Monsters who look like your next door neighbor.
But you’ve never felt so alone in all your life.
Though, you’re fairly certain that your loneliness stems from the fact that this is the first major holiday away from your family. And as much as you love Hera and Kannan and Jacen…you can’t help but feel like you’re intruding.
You release a slow breath, your eyes opening again as you feel something cold and wet against your cheek. “Huh. It’s snowing-”
How…sad.
It fits your mood perfectly.
“Knock, knock.” You start at the familiar voice from behind you, and you turn to blink at Ezra, “I know you don’t like it when people just barge in, but I figure since there’s no doors-” He trails off, “I bring hot cocoa?”
“Hera is going to kill you if she catches you out here.” You note as you slide over on the boulder to let him join you.
“Pft. I’m not afraid of her.” Ezra hands you both thermos and jumps up to join you, before taking his thermos back, “I also brought a blanket, to ward off the cold.”
You shoot him a look, “What’s wrong, Bridger? Can’t handle a little cold?”
“Hera will kill both of us if either of us get sick, so scoot in. We’re gonna get cozy.”
“I thought you weren’t afraid of her.”
“Wasn’t me, must have been the devil speaking through me.” Ezra says solemnly, before he tucks the blanket around himself and then you, “So, why are you looking so glum?”
“I’m not.”
“Are too. What, you think I can’t tell what you’re feeling?” You scowl at him and he grins as he taps your temple, “Jedi, remember.”
“Cheater.”
“Is it cheating to use your god given powers-”
“Yes.”
He laughs, and drapes his arm over your shoulder, “Come on. It’s just me.”
You’re quiet for a moment, and then you sigh and drop your head on his shoulder, “It’s my first Life Day without my family. I suppose I’m feeling a little…melancholic.”
“You having second thoughts?”
“No.” You shake your head, “Just…feeling a bit lonely.”
“Well, that’ll happen when you’re sitting out in the cold rather than celebrating with your chosen family,” Ezra points out gently, “What’s really bothering you?”
“...I don’t know.” You pause, and pull your knees up to rest your chin on them, “What happens when you leave?”
“Hey, I’m not going anywhere.”
“Sure, you say that now-”
“No.” He turns to face you and holds his pinky out for you to hook, “I’m not leaving you. Not now. Not ever.” He wiggles his pinky at you, “You know a pinky promise is eternal.”
“What are you, five?”
“Five times more fun than you.” Ezra quips. “Come on, even if I do have to go away for whatever reason, I’m always going to come back to you.”
“Until you don’t.”
“Nope. Always. Forever. I’ll always be faithful to you. I love you after all.”
You sigh and hook your finger with his, “Then, I hope you know that I’ll always be faithful to you too.”
Ezra beams at you and uses your joined fingers to tug you in so he’s able to kiss you, “Now, we’d better get back inside before Hera sends Sabine after us.”
“Oh…well…”
Ezra hops down off the boulder, and offers you his hand with a blinding smile, “Come on, gorgeous. It’s Life Day, you shouldn’t be alone.”
You release a quiet sigh, but slide down the boulder to take his hand.
Maybe change isn’t so bad after all.

Hi again!
Thank you for replying 😁 would love a second part of the Ezra Bridger fic is you feel up to it! No rush at all!
As for the ghost crew, I’d only request something platonic as I adore their found family relationship and couldn’t view them as anything else. I particularly love Kanan and Hera as parental figures as they are so sweet!
Hope you’ve had a lovely day! Xx

You pressed on the stitch in your side, lips split into a smile, and whipped around the corner. Ezra’s orange jumpsuit disappeared as the door to the common slid shut behind him. The pang of your footfalls across the durasteel floor resounded off the walls.
Not waiting for the door to part entirely, the second it cracked open you slinked through and scanned the room, finding not a flash of dark hair or orange clothes in sight. Only Sabine sat slouched at the corner booth, already rolling her eyes as she propped her chin on her palm.
“Where—”
“Sorry,” she cut in, sly grin sliding onto her face. “I’m no snitch.”
Some choice words crossed your mind, your lips pulled into a purse frown. You were on the verge of letting one or two fly in hopes of swaying her when you caught her eyes darting to the left. She shot you a cheeky smile as your gaze drifted to where three crates were crowded in the corner, creating a little hiding spot in the middle of them.
“Come on,” you complained, making your way over to the crates. “Just a hint?”
“Nope,” she said, popping the p.
“You’re no fun.” You leered over the gap in the crates, wicked grin wide on your face, and planted two hands on a crate to launch yourself over Ezra’s hiding place. “RAH!”
Ezra jerked backed and hit his head on the metal, grunting as he held his head in his hands. He let out a huff and glared up at you. “Sabine!”
She raised her hands in mock surrender. “I didn’t say anything!”
You snickered behind your hand as he stood and jumped out from between the crates, folding his arms over his chest. “This game is stupid,” he quickly informed you.
Laughing behind your hand, you plopped down beside Sabine, leaning back. “Someone’s a sore loser.”
He rolled his eyes and trudged toward the cabinet, aggressively grabbing some waffles and going to sit across from you. You settled down, catching your breath, and felt content with relaxing the rest of the day. You'd hardly had nay breathing room with everything going on, and a free day was definitely in order.
A moment later the doors opened again, yet when you looked up, there was no one there—until you lowered your gaze. Chopper rolled in, beeping his droid language you had yet to master.
Unsure what he was saying, you turned to Sabine. “Translation?”
She listened before letting out a groan. “Someone’s gotta clean refresher. Hera’s orders.”
So much for a free day.
Instantly, the tension rose, and your eyes locked with Sabine’s. A secret message passed between you as the pair of you tapped your finger out your nose, eyes darting to Ezra.
“Not it,” you and Sabine cried in unison.
Ezra sputtered, gaping as he made excuses left and right, when suddenly the door opened again and in walked Zeb. You smacked the table erratically. “Quick!”
In a flash Ezra was tapping his nose too, and the three of you shifted to stare at the Lasat. He paused in the doorway, glancing between all of you warily. “What…”
You all practically yelled, “Not it!”
Zeb blinked, brows drawn as he assessed the situation. “What…?”
Chopper chirped a reply, and though you couldn’t understand, the way Zeb’s face scrunched up was enough said. “I’m not cleanin’ the refresher.”
“You must respect the law of Not It,” Ezra deadpanned.
“It’s very rude to dishonor it,” you added with a firm nod. Sabine stifled a snicker behind her hand.
Zeb growled lowly, snapping, “I did it last time! I’m not doing it again!”
“And anger the gods of Not It?” You shook your head and frowned sorrowfully. “We will mourn when you’re gone.”
“I’m not doing your stupid game!”
Whilst Zeb fumed and the three of you did your best to hold back a laugh, in walked Hera, confused, with Kanan right behind her.
Hera was on the verge of asking what they were shouting about, but she caught herself as she took in the finger tapped to each of your noses. Forcing back a grin, Hera elbowed Kanan and swiftly pressed her fingertip to her green nose, watching Zeb grow incredulous as Kanan did the same.
She shrugged. “Not it.”
“I—What? C’mon, Hera,” Zeb nearly whined, shoulders slumped forward. “Kanan?”
“Sorry,” quipped the Jedi. “I don’t make the rules.”
Turning his wide stare around the room again, Zeb grumbled a swift “karabast” and swept out of the room. You bit her lip to hold back a laugh, locking eyes with a smirking Sabine.
“Don’t look so smug,” Hera snipped, wiping the smiles off all your faces. “You all are helping him.”
Immediately, the three of you were set off whining, still tapping your noses like idiots. Hera shook her head and went to get a glass of water. “Sorry. Captain over rules the almighty Not It.”
You slumped back into your seat and ran a hand over your face, Sabine and Ezra huffing at your sides. Moments after Hera left the room, Zeb’s voice echoed back down the hall, “Ha! Wait, I’m still doin’ it?”
Safe to say, all your evenings were ruined by the daunting task of refresher duty. You only hoped with the lot of you doing it, the job would be done fast. Or, at the very least, you’d get the least gross chore.

Hello!
Lord I am so sorry I’m just getting to these requests very late - kinda forcing some stuff out so that I can just feel more productive and everything, so if it’s not exactly what you want, I apologize - seriously.
When I first started this acc it was literally right before my senior year of highschool and then that year hit, so yknow-
Anyways, onto the request!!
“Is karabast like - a curse word or something?”
Platonic! Ezra Bridger x reader
Summary ; In which you and Ezra have a debate on the entomology of karabast. Kind of. And who gets involved in this debate? A very annoyed Lasat.
Requested? ; Yes
Warnings ; none, besides a bit of cursing.
Word count ; 1.1 k
——————————————————————
You and Ezra have been best friends since the moment you guys met on the Ghost.
You joined a little after he did, securing your spot as the beloved Specter-7 of the ghost after a lovely run in with some imperial storm troopers.
One of which was Kallus, who was in the middle of detaining you in the market place when Ezra and Kanan were the ones out for a supply run on Lothal.
Kallus annoyed the crap out of you.
And Kanan and Ezra.
One thing led to another, and you kinda latched onto the pair.
They were funny.
Ezra was your age, you both got along well. Clicked together, almost immediately. And Kanan was one of the few adults you actually felt comfortable around immediately. One you could trust.
So you kinda, maybe, followed and tracked them down without a trace back to the Ghost and snuck on.
Well, Kanan knew of course.
Decided to test Ezra to see if he could sense you following them.
Ezra, still new to the whole force thing, did not. He felt like he was being watched, sure, but he always felt like that. It was a normal feeling that dulled out with the rest of the hyper vigilance he had grown accustomed to. He’d been dealing with it since he was seven years old, after all.
It was nothing new.
Soon enough, when you got onto the Ghost, Kanan asked you, without turning around, if the walk was nice.
Ezra turned around and you swore he almost jumped two feet in the air in surprise.
“What the - how did you—? When—?”
“I’ve been following you guys since you helped me in the market place. Thought you needed some extra stuff so I decided to come here.”
Blatant lie.
Kanan could tell.
Ezra couldn’t. But he would soon be able to, since you had no where else to go, and Hera figured they could use an extra hand on the ship since repairs were becoming more and more frequent and needed. Luckily you knew how to repair ships.
Your father had built ships and imperial machinery for a living before he left you on Lothal.
And one thing led to another.
You were family now.
Especially to Ezra.
It’s been a couple years since then. A lot of stuff happened; Ezra got scarred in more ways than one, as did the rest of you, Kanan was blinded, you were pretty sure Kanan and Hera had a thing going on (but no one said a thing - everyone knew, but that wasn’t a primary focus), Ezra almost went to the dark side, and his hair was cut.
Big change.
You still hated it.
Kind of.
But, it was after lightsaber practice with Kanan - this time to help Kanan hone more of his skills as a blind Jedi master as opposed to Ezra needing it (although Kanan said Ezra could always learn something new too) - and you and Ezra were just laying on a couple of large crates.
Hidden away on Chopper base, to escape from the bustling noise and busy people and missions and just—
Everything.
You stubbed your toe on the way there.
Ezra laughed at your reaction, a quick shout of “Karabast!” being hissed through your teeth as your foot hit a rock.
A stupid rock.
He kept laughing on the way there.
You shoved his shoulder.
“Hey!” He grumbled, still smirking at you. “That was mean.”
You just shrugged. “Thats nice—“
He nudged his shoulder against yours. You grumbled under your breath.
So - once again, there you two were.
Laying on the crates, lost in thought.
“Is Karabast like - a curse word or something?” You broke the silence first.
“I think so.”, Ezra said, putting a hand behind his head. “I don’t know. Never really asked. I just copied off of Zeb.”
“And I copied off of you.”
Ezra lightly snickered at that.
“I bet you it’s probably the most horrendous thing translated into Basic that no one knows.” You said.
“Yeah you might be right. But i dunno, it might not be one.”
You scoff. “Yes it is. You hear how Zeb says it all the time?? Definitely a curse word like shit or fuck.”
“What if it isn’t though? What if it’s some kind of fruit from Lasan or something—“
Now you know Ezra’s just saying this to egg you on.
“I doubt it.”
“Oh do you? Wanna bet on it?”
You squint at Ezra. “Terms and conditions.”
“Loser gets to do the others chores on the ghost for a week.”
“And the winner?”
“Gets Kanan’s stash of snacks in the top left cupboard in the kitchen on the Ghost.”
“And what do we do to win this bet?”
“Whichever one guesses the meaning behind the word Karabast correctly after asking Zeb what it means wins.”
You hum in thought. “You asking for a race to see who’s the first to get to Zeb too?“
Ezra shrugs, smile growing on his face.
A race.
You guys haven’t raced in a couple years.
That’ll be fun.
“Usual rules?”, he asks. You answer.
“No head starts, no using weapons, no shoving or tripping the other, and no - under any circumstances unless if it’s an emergency - use of the Force to win the race.”
Ezra holds his free hand out to you. “It’s a deal then.”
You shake his hand, and the both of you get up from the crates, get ready with a couple shakes of limbs in anticipation, and dash off through the base.
Both of your shouts for Zeb - and snide comments against one another for being too slow, saying “hey, I always win these”, among various other things - reach the already irritated Lasat’s ears a couple minutes before he even saw you guys.
You took a couple short cuts, and got to Zeb first before Ezra did, which caused the taller boy to groan in protest.
You both bickered a little about who won, until Zeb couldn’t take it anymore and asked in a gruff, annoyed voice-
“What do you two bolts-for-brains want from me?”
You both opened your mouths to speak, but before Ezra said anything you pinched his ear and pulled him down a little, which made the boy shout your name in protest, and seethe in pain. Hurriedly, you continued.
“Zeb, what does Karabast mean?”
He paused, and looked at the both of you.
After letting go of Ezra’s reddening ear, said padawan rubbed at it with one hand, but stood back up to full height, looking at Zeb expectantly for an answer.
As were you, right next to him.
The expectant look on both of your guy’s faces mirrored the other. It was almost uncanny.
Karabast, you two were so much like siblings he forgets you guys aren’t related in the slightest.
Zeb pinched the bridge of his nose, sliding his hand down his furred, exhausted face.
“Oh for fucks sake—“

“Karabast.” (Spider-Man AU - the introduction)
Part Two ; Part Three
Ezra Bridger x gn!Reader
Summary ; In which you find out that the city of Lothal's two Spider-men are closer than you think. One of them - the new-ish one (by a few years or so) - just so happens to be your best friend.
Requested? ; Nope! Simply an AU idea I have had for a few months- I want to write more for it sometime soon - but if you have any ideas and / or thoughts or questions, feel free to send ‘em in. This is simply an introduction to the AU- 😌😌😌
Warnings ; none so far.
Word Count ; 436
——————————————————————
One thing you weren't expecting today was to be held up on your way home from getting groceries for your parents.
Sure, you expected to be at least a few minutes later than you would've liked, since this was the city of Lothal and all. There were bound to be some hold ups here and there.
However you weren't expecting to be in the middle of a fight. On a subway train. With both Spider-Men themselves trying to beat down one of the more recent 'big-bads', as you and Ezra so creatively called them. Some guy who called himself 'The Inquisitor' decided a subway train was going to be his stage and you were reluctantly a stagehand - trying to hide away in the wings while the actors were trying to do their jobs.
The wings on a subway car, however, meant trying to press yourself in the farthest corner away from the mess.
Which also meant holding your backpack up with one hand as a shield for both you and the groceries, while holding onto one of the bars that rested on top of the back of each subway seat. At first it was to avoid the surging crowd of people scrambling off to get onto other cars attached to the subway train to safely get away from the fight. Now, however, moving probably wasn't the best option.
Especially when 'The Inquisitor' shoves the younger Spider-Man into the seats besides you and yanks off the poor dude's mask.
“Holy shit—“, you voiced your thoughts, way louder than you anticipated. You immediately slapped the hand holding the metal bar back onto your mouth, eyes wide and full of regret. Both the younger Spider-Man in front of you and ‘The Inquisitor’ looked in your direction, both pairs of eyes locking with your frozen ones.
You hoped you spontaneously gained powers right then and there. Invisibility would’ve been amazing. Disappearing at the drop of a hat. Slink back home undetected so both superhero’s of Lothal City and ‘The Inquisitor’ can finish their battle in peace.
But no.
That’s not how things worked.
Your eyes darted to the familiar, radiant blue speckled hues of the eyes that belonged to the younger Spider-Man.
Ezra Bridger.
Your best friend.
Who’s apparently Spider-Man. The superhero that was immediately full of regret and shame and fear, all wrapped up into one. A hurricane of weights visibly fell onto his shoulders the moment he realized who you were.
And when he realized that you knew who he was now, too. Oh crap, you knew who he was now.
Oh no.
“Karabast.” Kanan’s gonna kill him.

“You’re our son—” (Spider-Man AU - part 3)
Part One ; Part Two
Ezra Bridger x gn!Reader
Summary ; In which Hera tells you both the plan of action.
Requested? ; No! Part three of the AU that I talked about in my last post- :DDD
Warnings ; mention of Kanan’s master Depa Billaba getting killed. Also not much of a warning, but found family things w / Hera, specifically- <33333
Word Count ; 1.3k
——————————————————————
The explanation was small, and straight to the point. After a couple years of living with the Ghost Crew, Ezra figured out that long winded explanations wasn’t the best route to go down when talking with Hera.
He and Kanan heard from police scanners that ‘The Inquisitor’ was at it again, terrorizing others on a subway train for whatever cause he was trying to pull them into (something something ‘Empire’ or whatever. Ezra didn’t pay too much attention). The both of them swung their way over, got to the subway station just before the train went off on its way, and swung in just in time.
And just before the police got to them too, thankfully. They really don’t appreciate a vigilante when they see one. Luckily, Hera had some pull to help them out of trouble.
While Kanan was busy getting citizens in the subway car, Ezra was busy fighting ‘The Inquisitor’ on his own for the first time.
Bad decision, because he ended up getting thrown onto one of the seats, and his mask got ripped off, which revealed his identity to the ‘Big Bad’ he was fighting. Not that The Inquisitor knew his name, but he definitely knew his face now.
And now yours, too.
Because you were right there, unbeknownst to both heroes and the villain. Hidden in that corner, shielding yourself and your groceries with only your school bag. And you visibly and verbally reacted when you saw what happened.
It doesn’t even take an idiot to realize that you knew who Ezra was once the mask was taken off. Especially when said idiot was The Inquisitor. Which was a no bueno with Kanan and his rules.
After all, he lost his teacher - the only motherly and parental figure he had - Depa Billaba, because something similar happened to him years ago. He never really explained what happened to Ezra. All Ezra knew was that a lot of people were killed that day because of it. Including her.
Kanan could never live it down in the slightest, because of that. He wanted Ezra to always be careful with his mask when going out in the city as another Spider-Man, just in case.
Which, in turn, probably made this situation a lot worse, the more Ezra thought about it.
Hera hummed, mouth pressing into a thin line once Ezra finished his explanation. “Ok… that makes this, well, a little bit more difficult than I thought.”, she said thoughtfully.
She placed the warm ceramic cup down onto the table, and sat up fully. “But, that doesn’t mean this can’t be fixed.”
“Y/n”, she said, turning to you. “You’re gonna have to lay low here for a little while, ok?”
“Wait - what?”, you furrowed your brows, looking at all the grocery bags on the table in front of you. “What about these? Or - or my parents? Or school??”
“We‘ll have that covered, kiddo, don’t worry.”, she smiled at you. “I’ll have Sabine and Zeb drop them off later on today, and we can call up your parents to explain the situation. I work as a consultant for the police, and this house is a designated safe house just in case for situations like these. We have a guest room you can stay inc and You and Ezra can still go to school. You just have to be driven there instead.”
“But the—“ Hera cut you off again.
“I know, I know, the traffic sucks.”, she pointed a thumb to the rooms behind her. “Kanan and I know our way around the city on the roads. So does Sabine, if we can’t drive you guys. It’ll be fine.”
The smile she gave you was one full of sincerity and hope. It was… oddly calming, to say the least. Then again, she always had that effect on you. And Ezra (not that he would ever admit that to Hera herself though. You, however, are a different story).
You took a deep breath, and let it out slowly. It calms you down, before the rush-in of loud thoughts could make their way into your head again. It’ll be fine. It’ll be fine.
You’ve had sleepovers there before, anyways. It’ll be just like those. Just… a really long winded one, until The Inquisitor is off your’s and Ezra’s tail.
“As for you, Ezra Bridger”, Hera continued once again, her voice taking on a sterner lilt. “No going out as Spider-Man with Kanan for a while. Not until we have the situation with The Inquisitor under control, alright? Do you understand me?”
“What?”, now it was his turn to question the decision made. “Oh, c’mon Hera, it was one slip-up—“
“One slip-up that could easily get you and your best friend either hurt or in danger, or - hell - even both”, she told him, gesturing to the both of you. Her tone grew more serious, more urgent the more she went on. “Kanan and I aren’t willing to risk it, Ezra. Your our son—“
Ezra’s eyes subtly went wider. The amount of conviction in Hera’s voice struck a chord in him, one that he sometimes forgets he has.
Family.
The concept is still so new to him, even if it’s been a few years.
“—much like how Sabine’s our daughter. And Y/n may not be apart of this family, but we care about them just as much as you do. We need you both to be safe. This is the best course of action we’re able to do right now, alright?”
Ezra sighed, shoulders visibly deflating. Hera was right; you both knew that. It was the best course of action, and there wasn’t much either of you could say about it. Not right now, at least.
And it’s not like he minded being out on house arrest either. Especially if it was with you. It could be fun, if things went smooth enough.
Hopefully.
“Alright”, he agreed, albeit a hint of reluctance still hung on to the edge of his words. “If this is the best course of action to keep us safe then… I guess it’s fine. Right?”
He looked to you.
“Right.”, You gave a reassuring nod, brows furrowing upwards afterward for a moment in a silent question. He nodded back at you, reassurance there and clear as day for you this time.
Hera’s face softened up, a small and relieved smile turning the corners of her mouth up. “Good. It’s settled then. I’ll go get Sabine and Zeb to grab the groceries and bring them to your parents, Y/n. In the meantime… think about dinner.”
She stood up from her seat, bringing the cup of coffee with her. “Usually it would be my turn to choose what to have tonight, but I’ll leave that decision with you”, she raised her cup in your direction. “After all, it was this bucket-heads fault for getting your into this mess.”
She lightly flicked Ezra’s ear. He let out an indignant noise, and brought a hand up to his ear, staring at Hera with a look of utter betrayal.
“Hey!”, he exclaimed, pouting a little bit. “What was that for?”
“You know why, Ezra.”, Hera gave him a pointed look, and turned back towards the kitchen. On her way, she glanced back at you again. “Think about what you want for dinner, sweetie. It can be anything you want.”
You smiled brightly at the thought. Hera chuckled fondly at the sight, and opened the door to the kitchen, closing it behind her once she stepped over the threshold.
Ezra slowly turned back to you, his hand still rubbing his ear. Flick or not. Hera’s strength stung.
“Soo… what’re you thinking about for dinner?”, he asked you. The casualness of it all made you both fall right back into the usual comfortability, as if nothing big happened between you two, or the family in the house you were in.
The bright smile you had stayed clear as day, only enhanced by the setting sun blaring through the blinds behind you.
“How does Chinese food sound?”, you asked, leaning your forearms against the table.
Ezra always thought sunsets were beautiful. This one was just as lovely.
“Sounds perfect.”
His own smile radiated back at you, like the glare of the moon reflected back to the sun.

——————————————————————
Two masks were thrown onto a wooden table, sitting almost perfectly in the middle of a dining room area. The golden afternoon light shone through the glass of the window, casting a warm orange glow across the room.
"Sit. Both of you.", Kanan ordered, voice holding a stern and unwavering lilt that told you if you didn't listen there would be consequences. "I gotta go tell Hera about this, so don't. Move."
He gave a pointed look to Ezra, who stood besides you with a couple of your bags in hand. He rolled his eyes a bit at Kanan's request, but still followed it nonetheless.
He locked the front door behind him with a small click, took off his shoes, and walked into the dining and kitchen area of his home, you following him en suite. You've been to this place many times before, sure, so you knew what small amount of house rules you had to obey by, but it was never...
In a situation like this.
Ezra placed your bags onto the table, the plastic bags crinkling under the weight of what groceries were inside them. You placed the rest of the groceries next to those ones, and the golden hues of the light caught onto the plastic. You focused on the sight, your mind wandering to debate whether or not you should consider bringing the reusable bags rather than plastic ones you got next time you head to the store alone.
Maybe then you wouldn't have had to deal with the whole fiasco on the subway with that 'Inquisitor' dude. Because sometimes small choices lead to different scenarios. Maybe the bag holding the fruit wouldn’t have opened. Maybe you found a shortcut home.
Either way, things would’ve been different.
Not that you dwelled on it for long. It was a small, mundane thought. It had stood out louder than the cacophony of others that plagued your mind right now.
“…so.”, you began, glancing up at the Spider-Man - no, Ezra - across the table. You scraped a chair out from underneath it, the would grating quietly against the ground. It creaked lightly when you sat on it. Ezra’s did the same as he sat down across from you, eyes still locked on both masks in the middle of the wooden slab that made the table’s surface.
“So.”, he repeated, finally looking up at you. An awkward elephant of a silence fell over the both of you. It filled the room, made the golden rays of the sun catching in the windows uncomfortably warm. He tugged at the collar of his Spider-Man suit, hoping it would help him breathe just a bit easier.
You just stared at him, a gulp of uncertainty following through halfway through the silence. You still couldn’t believe what you saw.
“You finally know”, an astonished voice broke in, coming from the stairs off to the right of the front door. Sabine scoffed out a small laugh, and leaned her crossed forearms on the railings of the stairs.
“Took Ezra long enough.”, grumbled another voice.
Zeb trudged down the stairs afterwards, and stopped a couple steps above Sabine, mirroring her. His arms leaned against the railing as well, and smirked down at you and your best spider-friend. I mean - your best friend. Not spider-friend. Best friend.
You immediately stood up from your seat.
“You guys knew!?”, you exclaimed incredulously. Your arms raised a bit, hands held out in front of you in shock. Your eyes glanced continuously at both people on the stairs, and the one to your left across the table. All in disbelief.
“Eh”, Sabine shrugged. A nonchalant thing. Like it wasn’t a big deal that she was living with both of Lothal’s Spider-heroes. “Family secret.”
“Family secret!?”, you repeated, disbelieving scoff quickly making itself known. Your hands dropped to your sides, eyes casting down the the family pictures on the stairwell’s walls underneath the bannisters.
The pictures look so normal.
So, so normal.
This was anything but.
“…Is there anything else I should know about?”, you asked the three, raising a brow. Your eyes darted between the three of them once again.
“Ezra and I are adopted.”, Sabine immediately said, with no hesitation whatsoever. Ezra stifled a snort of laughter, and you gave her a deadpan look.
“Oh wow! That’s so funny - I wonder when that happened?”, you sarcastically inquired. “Lemme guess, a couple years ago? That sound about right to you?”
“To the month!”, Sabine’s grin grew smug.
“Man, its like I haven’t known anything about you guys in say - what - the past three years.”
The sarcasm still hasn’t left your voice, though it still took a turn back to the incredulity it held before.
You turned back to Ezra, opening your mouth to say something, but never finding the words. The spider logo on his suit glinted. Scuffed and scratched from over the past few years, but still strong.
Still a symbol of hope.
Although, now it takes on a whole new meaning after finding out who was underneath the mask.
“When did—“, you started, voice smaller than it was before. “When did the… y’know—“
You pointed at the Spider-Man symbol on his chest, and looked up to meet the blue iris’s of Ezra’s eyes. “The spider stuff. When did that happen?”
The question was curious. The astonishment was still there, but from the tone of your voice, it was finally beginning to sink in properly.
Ezra knew you weren’t judging him for it by the slightest.
You weren’t mad.
At least from what he could tell.
You just wanted to know. How the hell did your best friend end up this way?
Ezra looked down at the masks still on the table, a smile reminiscent of simpler times pushing at the corners of his mouth. “Few years ago. A couple weeks after I moved in here, when Hera and Kanan were still just foster parents for Sabine and I. There was this weird green spider that bit me around the place Sabine usually goes to for her wall art, and then next thing you know these - these powers showed up and… well…”, he gestured to the symbol on his suit. “That’s pretty much what happened. The short version, at least.”
“That…”, you trailed off and stared at the masks, a slow nod following afterwards. “… Makes… a lot of sense, actually.”
It did make sense.
You remember those few years ago, back in your freshman year of high school. Back when you first met Ezra. A kid you remember hearing rumors about. A kid who stole so many things (which you came to find out it was for survival, later on). A thief. A trouble maker.
A thief and trouble maker that somehow drifted to your friends Jai Kell and Zare Leonis. It’s how you two got introduced.
And then, a couple weeks later after meeting him, slowly breaking that little wall he created for himself, and becoming his friend, a new Spider-Man showed up. A younger and shorter one (who seemed to never listen to the older Spider-Man, unless if there was something serious happening).
“Damn”, you whispered. A huge weight fell onto your knees, and you almost just let the weight take you into a plummet back into your seat.
Never mind the fact that it was beginning to ‘sink in properly’. No, it wasn’t even properly sinking in anymore. It just plummeted into the depths of your soul and mind; all the late days, all the random bruises, all those random missing hours of the day that Ezra had dealt with. There was finally a damn proper reason for it.
Which was literally nothing you’d expected from him.
You thought it was just bits and pieces of his past catching up with him as a thief. That was what sounded plausible. Maybe he was beating up those bullies that picked on the other teens in the younger grades. Maybe he just had iron deficiency.
But Spider-Man?
Saving the city that robbed him of a proper childhood? A safe place to grow up? His biological parents?
It’s so… unlike him from back then. But so, so like him nowadays, to do something like that. To hold up that kind of mantle.
And that realization fell on you like a ton of bricks.
“Everything ok over there?”
Ezra’s voice cut through your thoughts, clearing them up in an instant. Worried eyes met weary ones, and you could tell just by the little upturn of a furrow in his brow that he was nervous. You wanted to tell him he never needed to be. At least, not around you.
“Yeah.”, you said, comforting smile pulling at the corners of your mouth. “Just processing. That’s all.”
“Alright”, he nodded. His own small smile, wrapped up in worries and doubt, appeared on his face. Clearing his throat, he continued, the sounds of Sabine and Zeb making their way down the steps fully being drowned out by his voice. “I just thought you were gonna be angry or something. Y’know, for me not telling you about, well.”
He didn’t need to specify. You understood what the elephant in the room was completely.
“I’m not angry, Ez.”, you tell him immediately. You shake your head, and lean your forearms against the table. Ezra leaned back in his chair, folding his arms in front of his chest. “You don’t have to tell me everything that’s going on with you and your family, for one. That’s your choice to make. And theirs, if they’re apart of whatever it is, too. And two, why would I be? I mean - I’m just in shock right now, in all honesty.”
You laugh quietly, bringing a hand up to your forehead, rubbing your thumb and forefinger across the skin of it. “It’s really, really cool that you’re one of the Spider-Men out there, but wow - it is surely a hell of a thing to find out on a grocery run.”
Ezra chuckled at that. You glanced back up at him, and let out a small and relieved breath. Some of the tension in his smile left. He looked a little bit more like the usual Ezra. The one you know and love as your best friend.
“Yeah, I can imagine”, he says finally, remnants of a chuckle still floating from his voice. His eyes finally met yours again. A sense of comfort flooded the room for a second, and the golden-orange hues of sunset blaring in from the windows felt like a blanket again, warm and light instead of uncomfortably heavy and almost humid.
A few minutes passed by. The ambient noise of Sabine and Zeb walking about in the living room down the hall filled the void of noise. Their voices blended into the background, along with the beeps of Chopper, who was somewhere in the room causing a small amount of havoc for the other two to deal with.
Kanan’s voice appeared distantly in the backround as well, joining the other three in conversation. It blended into the soft ambience of the house, all the same as the others.
A click of a doorknob sounded, breaking the silence in the dining room.
“So, Ezra”, started Hera as she walked into the room. She moved to the chair next to him, placing her hand on his shoulder while sitting down. In her other hand was a cup of coffee. Most likely for another late night of work, if you could guess.
Hera gave you a smile and a little nod as a hello and acknowledgement of your presence. You gave one back at her, not minding in the slightest that she didn’t say hello. There were more pressing matters to attend to first.
“Kanan told me what happened at the subway today with ‘The Inquisitor.”, Hera continued. She crossed her arms, and leaned back in her chair. She sipped at her drink, and raised a brow at the blue haired boy in front of her. “Care to explain?”
