Someone in our discord found this helpful, so we're posting it here with a bit of added wording.
You can be incorrect about your experiences but that doesn't make you fake, it just means you misunderstood either what you were feeling or what a term meant. And that's okay as long as you don't lie once you know you're not a [insert identity here]. You're never morally wrong for being incorrect. Faking is a conscious choice, being wrong about your experiences is not.
You're not faking if you don't sit down and think "how can I make this seem legit" or "I want to pretend to be this today". It can feel bad and confusing and all brands of horrible when you realise you were wrong about a label you placed upon yourself, but it's more beneficial to you and everyone else to admit that you were wrong, you're able and allowed to make mistakes just as anyone else is, and now you can learn from them and know yourself better.
No one knows what they are from the moment they're born, give yourself some space and time to relax and not get caught up in worrying if your experiences actually fit into a nice little box or not. In the end, they don't even have to fit into anything.

"Why aren't we seeing widespread plural acceptance yet?"
Guys... for thousands of years, plurals have kept completely to ourselves out of fear of being tortured for demonic possession or locked away in insane asylums.
The first plural communities and the term "plural" itself in reference to multiple agents in one body didn't start until the 90s.
The communities were largely hidden away, not interacting with most of the mainstream internet until the early 2010s.
The first studies into the plural community didn't start until the back half of the 2010s.
Pluralkit wasn't made until 2018, and many singlet-run servers have already adopted it to make their spaces more accepting of systems.
The Plural Association wasn't founded until 2020, just 4 years ago.
2023, this year, saw the very first time a system's system name, "The Redwoods," was used as the authors of an academic paper. Something that I hope, while remarkable now, can become the norm.
Yes, acceptance is slow. It can be hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel sometimes. It can be hard to recognize history as it's happening. But make no mistake, history IS happening. Progress is being made.
We've hit some major milestones in a relatively short time and this is only the beginning!

i dont really feel like an adult. i know i am one, but a lot of the time i feel like a child in an adults body. it's why i don't like the terms man or woman for myself. they feel too mature. and i know i'm still young, but i see my peers and realize how immature i am in comparison.
also i hate categorizing people as mature or immature bc a lot of the time it's just ableism. i dont think it's a bad thing i dont behave like a neurotypical person my age, but what people think about me gets to me. it doesn't make me less important or less worthy than others. it shouldn't, at least.

Traumagenic system: a plural system which formed as a result of trauma.
Endogenic system: a plural system that formed without trauma, or whose formation was not caused by trauma.
Singlet: not a plural system.
Keep it civil in the comments.

for me, being plural feels like so much more than “sharing a body.” its sharing a life.
this isn’t a hot take or anything, it’s just my own personal experience. we live in the same room, we strive towards the same goals, we maintain the same relationships, we look after each other so our lives, collectively and individually, are as happy as can be.
saying we merely share a body feels like if you lived with a partner (or similar close relationship) and referred to it as only “living together,” rather than having a long-term life that you share together. it almost feels like downplaying the impact of our system in the external world.
that’s entirely how i feel though, im speaking as a small system w/ managed/treated DID without one particular “host.” i don’t think feeling different is wrong or anything. in fact, im interested to hear why other systems favour the words “sharing a body” over “sharing a life!” i love hearing other people’s experiences, different and similar to mine.
plurality is such a vast spectrum of experience, disordered or otherwise. the brain is a damn funky little thing, i love it

ATTENTION PLURALS! Whether you have DID, OSDD, UDD, or some other form of plurality, this could be extremely helpful for you!
Our mother has created and put for sale discreet plurality journals! These journals include spaces to write information about system members, important information (contacts, family, friends, partners, etc), system rules, pages to keep track of physical/mental health (diagnoses, suspected conditions, symptoms, triggers, etc), a built-in calender to mark and keep track of things, a section to keep track of switching, a mental health journal, and a section for general journaling shenanigans!
Note that it is queer friendly, including a segment for pronouns in each member's bios/the bios of loved ones, as well as not monogamous assuming in language or nature.
Here are the links to them, and the three cover options available to pick from! (Frog cover, flower cover, and owl cover.)

Here are some example pages (minus the mental health journal and regular journal pages, both of which are at the end, and have 100+ pages.) Most of these pages have multiple copies, so there is plenty of room! For example, the "our switches" section has 50 pages.

just gonna say it one more time for anyone who didnt hear it:
ENDOGENIC IS NOT SYNONYMOUS WITH NOT DISORDERED. ENDOGENIC SYSTEMS CAN BE DISORDERED AND HAVE TRAUMA AFFECT THEIR SYSTEM EVEN IF IT DIDNT FORM FROM TRAUMA.

Remember y’all, Median Systems are valid. When people say all systems are valid, they’re usually talking about endogenic systems. While yes, that’s true of course, I don’t know where to place Median Systems at along the spectrum. We’re not plural per se nor endogenic. We’re stuck in the middle. Our parts or facets are us and we’re them. We’re a breed of our own. I wish there would be more info out there about us. Endogenics please don’t forget your cousins so to speak hehe. 😄😅

You know, it's actually surprising that, for all the times science fiction has grappled with the question of "at what point does a simulated consciousness become real?" this isn't ever applied to imaginary friends in fiction.
I mean, when you think about it, the "imagination" is just a simulation the brain makes.
So when the brain can make a simulation that is both independent and self-conscious, seeing itself as separate from the creator, and it's obviously capable of passing a Turing test, what makes that simulation any less of a person than the one that pilots the body?
I'd love to see more fiction writers take on topics like this.
