I feel like now is a good time to remind everyone that...
Nonhuman is an umbrella term, but it is also a standalone label.
You do not need to also be otherkin, otherlinker, otherhearted, therian, fictionkin, alterhuman (which itself may be 100% human and nothing else) or anything else to call yourself nonhuman. You can, if you want to, just use it by itself. No qualifiers, no further explanation required, no definition beyond 'not exclusively human in some way.'
You don't need to identify physically as not-human. Plenty of nonhumans do, and plenty more don't.
You don't need to identify entirely as not-human. There are lots of nonhumans that are also human, plus whatever else they are. There are similarly nonhumans who are in no way human. The term encompasses both without contradiction.
You do not need to specify any amount of voluntary/involuntary adoption of your identity. You can in fact choose to just be nonhuman because you want to do that, or you can come to it after a long time searching and conclude it's the only explanation, or you can fall anywhere in between.
You do not need to be any specific thing other than some degree of not-human. You can be an animal, plant, object, concept, song, creature, shapeshifter, character, device, AI, color, emotion, or anything else that exists or doesn't, or any kind of mixture of those things.
You do not need any specific reason to call yourself nonhuman. It can be a psychological thing, a spiritual thing, a physical thing, a coping thing, a reclamation thing, even just a 'because it's fun and makes you happy' thing.
You do not need anybody's permission or approval to be nonhuman. There are no gatekeepers who have any say over what a nonhuman is or is not, aside from the definition of the word itself, which is incredibly broad and open to interpretation. This is by design. Anybody who tries to stop you has no right to do so.
Please don't forget that when defining 'nonhuman.' It is not just a big tarp to be thrown over other labels. It is also its own full identity with its own merits and concepts, even if it is a very broad and inclusive identity.

How I Experience Being Musickin
Aside from being a dragon i also identify as musickin. that means i non-physically identify as spesific songs or genres, i feel as though i am that or an embodiment of that spesific song.
what kind of music related shifts do i experience?:
i experience some kind of aura shifts where my aura kind of becomes synced with the music that is playing of spesific genres. infact it triggers my senses and i can see colors and i'd like to imagine my aura vibrating to the sound. so i would say they are some kind of sensory shift - "a shift where one experiences heightened or altered senses that they feel resemble the senses of their kintype" but mixed with a an envisage shift
its difficult to put into exact words or even a drawing. or images. i cant? its more of a mental feeling then anything. phantom shifts? yes i experience those too. though of music related shifts rarely. when i do they are usually of music gear objects such as speakers
being a bass player & beginner music producer opend up so many doors for how i perceive music & sound. at first it was just a connection i had with it, i liked it i liked the sense of familairity but soon i discoverd it is actually a part of me instead of just something i connect with!. it took me sometime and still does to accept that im also musickin. i find it difficult to piece together how it works having mulitple kintypes. but i just cannot deny this aspect of me. it is something i find....well..rather difficult to talk about.

Not exclusively therian here, but we have, and we opted to buy the claw-tips separately specifically so we can attach them to other things. We hot-glued them onto regular black gloves and then layered green striped gloves over them so that a few of our fictives could have hands closer to their own for a bit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The top glove being a fingerless detachable one is great because it means we can switch out "arm" colours for different people who would prefer something else.
Tumblr media
The claws are durable so don't worry about breaking them. You might need a phone stylus to use your phone and then learn how to use one without your fingertips but we've gotten okay at it since wearing them occasionally.
Very good for dysphoria relief in our experience!
have therians discovered these digging gloves yet
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i feel like they’d like them……
therians what are your thoughts

Genuinely, how do so many anti-endo people have the fact that they're anti-endo and "fakeclaimers DNI" right next to each other in their profile/pinned/etc.? Babe, you are the fakeclaimer. The thing you are doing when you say "DNI endogenic "systems"/supporters", putting "systems" in scare quotes to state that you don't think they're really systems, is by definition fakeclaiming. You just think that it's justified when you do it because this time you've got the REAL fakes and you REALLY know how to tell when someone is lying about their experiences and identity, pinkie promise. That doesn't make it not fakeclaiming - all fakeclaimers think that. They wouldn't do it otherwise.

This poll is NOT a measure of the validity of someone's identity, nor does it imply that nonhuman identity is something you can grow out of.
The context behind the poll is that I was much more "feral" as a child than I am now, and a lot of the instincts I had prior are just kinda non-existent. Which makes nonhuman identy less something I have to actively "battle with" (aside from the occassional dysphoria) and moreso something I can just chill out and go "hehe imma lizurb".
Once the timelimit's over, this poll can also probably give some comfort to younger people who are probably struggling with instinct stuff rn. While it's not guaranteed, there is a non-zero chance it'll mellow out. I'm also just curious how many have similar experiences

The Alterhumans in Relationships Survey is collecting data on alterhumans and queerplatonic, sexual, and romantic relationships. This survey asks questions about your current and past relationships, and how you feel about relationships and alterhumanity. This survey was made for otherkin, therians, fictionkin, systems, and other people who may call themself alterhuman. But even if you don't use any of those terms, you can take still this survey.
This survey is being organized by Who-is-Page, an alterhuman scholar who has been in the community since 2014. The data collected in this survey will be used for research purposes and may be presented at an online convention (OtherCon 2024) later this year. Depending on how much you write in the write-in questions, this survey takes about 15 minutes.

Your physical body must at least 18 years old to participate in this survey. The survey will close on July 6th.

Hello, I do not mean to be annoying or anything, but to those who make the note posts that involve doing something that can result in a negative backlash (i.e. coming out, whether it be as queer or a non/alterhuman, etc) and you have not made it clear that they are accepting and you do not think they will react badly;
I am not going to give your posts notes because I do not want you to get hurt. Yes, I am some random stranger on the internet but I still care deeply for individuals. I hate seeing others get hurt over things like this and it makes me sad. I do not want to encourage anyone to do something that could result in a bad reaction that could end up hurting anyone whether way that could be. I am sorry if this sounds parasocial and/or rude/harsh but I just cannot stand the thought of things like that happening over a note game. I know it is not my business to care and it is just a personal thing of mine.

i mostly just hope that by posting my writings and stuff on here that others can find some comfort in knowing they are not alone. i greatly fear being a negative influence which is why im a bit nervous to post darker stuff even though the dark stuff is important too.
there are so many other creatures that post on here who have inspired me to be my true self. so I hope that I can inspire that for others too..
my writing can be kinda rambling but it comes from my heart. being nonhuman, being a therian, just being a creature in general is something I care about a lot so I love to write about it.
even though it makes me nervous, I want to move forward with writing about darker subjects of nonhumanity. maybe not everyone will be able to relate to it but I think those subjects should be discussed more within our communities.

what does physical alterhuman mean? /gq
short answer: just what it says right there, it means being physically nonhuman
HOWEVER, it's obviously not just that simple, so here's the long answer:
- reality checking for the sake of explanation under the cut -
there are many reasons why someone might identify as a physical nonhuman or holothere, which is a term for all physical nonhumans (coined by @/defrostedvertebrae). for one, someone might experience delusions related to this, which would most often fall under clinical zoanthropy (the delusion that someone can turn, has turned or will turn into a nonhuman animal), but it can also be a different, more... let's say vague type of delusion. these people believe they can literally physically turn into animals and/or their DNA is nonhuman. there's nothing morally wrong about this and they are not harmful and/or p-shifters (which have a long history of very manipulative, malicious and cult-like behaviour).
then there are folk who follow the idea of "I am a fox, and this is my body, therefore this body is physically the body of a fox". they acknowledge their bodies as biologically human, but still physically identify as whatever they are, because it brings them comfort or something along those lines.
and then there are people like me - I don't experience delusions and I know my DNA is human. but instead of a werewolf who's trapped in a human body, I see myself as a physical werewolf, who is stuck in the human shape. and no matter the shape I'm currently taking, a werewolf is always a werewolf, which means I am physically one.
there are also people who claim to be non-delusional but able to physically shapeshift - while I for my personal comfort mostly don't interact with those, it's important to know they aren't automatically p-shifters or have ill intent. they probably are actually delusional, but not able to identify their delusions as such, which is not an uncommon thing. if that makes you uncomfortable, I get it, totally, but please remember to not reality check them, as it can be very harmful.
I hope this is explaining things a bit! if it's too confusing, I can try to reword stuff ^^

The purpose of this survey is to collect data about the experiences of people who feel sensations of nonhuman body parts, for example, wings or a tail. Some call these supernumerary phantom limbs, phantom shifts, otherlimbs, or astral limbs, though you may have other preferences for the words you use for your own experiences. If you haven't had those experiences, you can participate in this survey too. This survey was made for people who call themselves otherkin, therianthrope, furry, or any other potentially alterhuman or nonhuman identity. If you don't describe yourself with any of those words, you can participate in this survey too.
The survey will take you about 6 to 15 minutes. Everyone age 18 and up is welcome to fill out the survey at the below link, until it closes on July 6, 2024:

Who is running this survey and why: The person running this survey is Orion Scribner (they/them), an otherkin/therianthrope who has been making projects about these communities since 2005. I will use the results in my panel at an Internet-based convention later this year (OtherCon 2024), and in other future research projects.

We don't see much about identities relating to objects, concepts or plants in the alterhuman community and we'd absolutely love to see more. This is a call for all objects, plants, concepts and those with identities related to them that are so underrepresented in our community to speak about their experiences.
"Who will read my essay?" we will, and people after us will as well. Your experiences are valued by the community and you have just as much of a right to speak up as anyone of any other alterhuman identity.
I'd absolutely love to have people reblog this or comment and add their experiences, and better yet also make their own posts to be more widely shared with the community.

okay but like- why do people find it weird when i say "oh i recognized your scent" like... is that not normal??
they dropped their beanie in a house full of others, i only recognized it because of their scent and gave it back. "oh how'd you know this was mine?" "your scent."

In case you need it today:
You are under no obligation to publicly perform your identity.
You are a therian without a mask or a tail or shoes or fun snacks or 'good' vocals. You are a therian without a wolf shirt or a paw pendant or a theta-delta pin. You are a therian without quadrobics or other athletic activities.
You are a therian even if you participate in human society. If you want to blend in with people. If you don't 'dress like a therian'. If you don't want to wear your heart on your sleeve.
You are a therian even if you never want to show anyone that you are.
