Out now! The Fall of Wolfsbane (Ravenglass Legends, book 1)
Hello from chilly Morecambe! I am beyond excited to announce the launch of my latest novel, The Fall of Wolfsbane, the first installment in the Ravenglass Legends series. This book holds a special place in my heart, as it brings to life a story that has been brewing in my mind for years. The Fall of Wolfsbane is set several centuries before the events of The Ravenglass Chronicles, during the…

The Star Wars fandom is like a case study of what happens when you overthink media intended for children to the point that you’ve completely altered the message and plot that the creator intended. The whole “the Jedi order is evil and Anakin/Vader is the good guy!” Idea fails to take into account the fact that like.. these movies are meant for kids, they’re meant to be easy to follow and easy to understand with obvious good guys and obvious bad guys. Yknow how we know the Jedi are the good guys? - they’re the main characters, they have funny one liners, they kill the evil bad guys who have red laser swords with their blue and green laser swords, they’re relatable, they’re nice, they’re paternal, so on so forth.
I love critical analysis and I’d never speak a word against it, when we consume media we should always take a step back to consider what ideas they’re selling us, what undertones are portrayed, is this supposed to represent a real life problem? But it’s also equally as important to consider who the audience is and how that might impact the story. And ultimately the audience is children, Star Wars is not meant to be a mystery thriller where the good guys are secretly the bad guys which you can only tell when you pick the story apart 20 which ways. The movies could not more clearly tell us who were meant to support. - is it the angry guys with red swords, ugly old guy who shoot’s lighting out of his fingers and takes over the universe, people who blow up planets, chop off their kids hands and blow up planet’s? Or is it the people who wear warm coloured clothing, talk about wanting peace, who tell funny jokes, have heartfelt moments, with blue and green lightsabers, fight against the space fascists and love each other.
Ultimately, Star Wars isn’t that deep, enjoy it for what it is and I promise you’ll enjoy it 100 times more

I love how palpatine says "So be it, Jedi" In return of the Jedi. He says it with such venom and anger in a subtle way. The acting is phenomenal. You can tell that this man is absolutely fucking fuming at the fact that he has planned his whole life to kill the Jedi, finessed the entire galaxy into going to war with each other just so he could rise to the top and cackle, then killed 95% of the Jedi order in half a day, had everything planned meticulously from the clones betrayal to the inquisitors and the hunting of Jedi, planted fear in civillians and ruled for 30 years and when he finally has the chance to completely claim the galaxy for his own.... A Jedi Still stands in his way .
The fate of the galaxy within his reach and the thing stopping him is the exact thing he spent his life planning to eradicate, hope and goodness. Luke is the embodiment of that. And he's not only standing there, he's taunting palpatine too.
I'd be pissed too.

Is anyone else just in complete bafflement and wonder at Andor being actually greenlit by Disney those assholes in the corporate office? CANON lesbian representation, overt allusions to in-universe racialization of characters (Diego Luna is described as a man with dark features in the police APB and it actively contributes to his experience in the universe!!), police brutality and criticism of the police state spelled out in the most painstaking terms possible, and the Empire!!! People have already talked about how scary the TIE fighters are allowed to be. The Empire isn’t cute. It’s terrifying and it’s run by real humans committing atrocities, not just monsters and faceless soldiers and comic relief incompetents. Again and again I feel like I’m seeing things that have never been allowed to feel so raw and real in mainline SW, if they were present at all. And the fact that every other aspect of the show is on point, that no sacrifices in story or characterization or worldbuilding or cinematography or production value were made in the process — I don’t even have words. Idk what the general sentiment of the Star Wars fandom is, I haven’t been paying attention. But if Andor has only ten fans I am one of them. If Andor has only one fan it is me. If the entire world is against Andor I am against the world.

"You think you can take whatever you want. Things you didn’t make, didn’t earn, things you don’t understand." The story of an indigenous boy fighting against a colonizer to get his home back. A teenager telling the man who is destroying his world that because it is so much more complex and important than what he sees, he will never get to have it.
Ezra's story is about connection, with all living beings: loth cats and wolves, purrgils, people, etc. And it ends with nature reclaiming what has always been its from the machine that is the Empire. It ends with the people getting their home back from the people who occupied it
And here's the thing: Ezra doesn't know a galaxy without the influence of the Empire. The history of the Old Republic, the tales of the Jedi, they're all fairytales to him. Yet he still fights for it; he fights for something he hasn't yet seen, fights for what's right, for his people and his family. He fights for freedom even if he doesn't know what it feels like
And it's this determination, this endless hope, that drives others to do the same as him. He, with only his words, is able to make things different. It challenges the whole "I'm just one person, I won't change anything" belief. Because Ezra is just one person, and one person can't do much on their own; the war is lost if it's only you fighting it
But Ezra frees Lothal. Ezra banishes Thrawn. Ezra inspires others to fight back. Ezra's sacrifice was not meaningless, and it will always be remembered. He will always be remembered

I was thinking about how people do things all the time in honor of celebrities that mean a lot to them, and it made me wonder– how much was Anakin himself responsible for sparks of rebellion? How many kids that adored him grew up to lay down their lives with their last thoughts being about him, their Jedi war hero, who they believe died to defend what they're fighting for now? How many times did the words "for Skywalker" create shifts in heroism– both the small sparks, and the hugely consequential flames?
I just think a lot about how Vader never escaped the size of Anakin's heart, and the ripples sent across the stars by everything he was.

I’m sorry but I hate the way people completely disregard the fact that Luke is a Jedi, like he’s literally the og Jedi?? I’ve seen a lot of people talk about how much “better” his new Jedi order would’ve been because he would’ve removed the attachment rules or whatever, and I think that that type of characterisation really disregards the essence of Luke’s character and what he stood for. People seem to cite him bringing his father back from the dark and being close with Leia but that doesn’t mean he’s attached to them in the way Jedi view attachment, he cared about his father because Luke is a caring person and wanted to help him, acting as if it’s only because Vaders his dad really disregards a lot of the character development Luke went through from a new hope till return of the Jedi.
Also it seems really odd to ignore it as he 1: shows a genuine want to become a Jedi and all that being a Jedi involves 2: (mainly rotj) cares what Yoda and Obi-Wan have to say and the advice they give him 3: says word for word “I am a Jedi” sure he may not have the training of a Jedi but it’s pretty clear that he really does care.
On a similar note - I’ve seen people talk about it but people also tend to disregard the fact that Luke was part of the rebellion?? It’s treated like “oh silly sunshine boy just wants to fly ships he doesn’t know what politics are🥰🥰” it completely infantilises his entire character, his beliefs and what he cares about. We see in ANH that he has interest in the rebellion, knows of the clone wars and vaguely of the Jedi, and in the deleted scene with Biggs they both talk about defecting to the rebellion and fighting against the empire. These scenes clearly show his political beliefs and how he was against the empire even before they killed his Aunt and Uncle. It does him a disservice to ignore who he is as a person and to treat him as if he’s just a child who likes ships, it removes any sense of agency or conviction when he’s treated that way
Point is I wish more people would treat him like a mature adult who is capable of making his own choices and is an actual Jedi who follows the code.

Grand Admiral Thrawn enters the Chimaera’s brig to interrogate the captured Rebel sympathizer on the whereabouts of the Rebel fleet. The prisoner is Hondo Ohnaka.
Zeb and Sabine paid him to plant alleged misinformation, but in reality, they just wanted the lols of Thrawn having to deal with Hondo and placed bets on how long the admiral would last before rage quitting. Kallus is outside the cell with a chrono; he put fifty credits in the pool for half an hour.
Thrawn: Good day, Captain Ohnaka. I am…
Hondo, seeing an alien in a white Imperial uniform and remembering how xenophobic the Empire is: A white uniform on an alien? I don’t believe it, when did the Empire get room service?
Thrawn: Your attempt at humor will not ease this interrogation.
Hondo, now firmly convinced that Thrawn is a waiter: Eh, perhaps not, but a Corellian ale certainly will! I’ll have three! And perhaps a ruby bliel, that might be nice.
Thrawn, realizing the Hondo is serious: …
Hondo: yes, actually, three ruby bliels, and a Corellian ale, I think. Oh, and you should get some eye drops for yourself. You seem to be a bit sleep deprived, my Pantoran friend!
Thrawn emerges from the cell twenty minutes later.
Thrawn: Agent Kallus?
Kallus, hiding his displeasure at having lost his fifty credits: Yes, Grand Admiral?
Thrawn: Please arrange for the credits we found aboard Ohnaka’s ship to be confiscated and deposited in the Chimaera’s vault.
Hondo, on the verge of hysterics: No, no, not that, I beg of you! I’ll tell you anything, just please don’t spend my credits! Especially not on sweet cakes for your crew!
Thrawn: Belay that order for the moment.
Kallus, trying not to look disappointed: Yes, Admiral.
Kallus sends a brief Fulcrum signal, two dashes. At Chopper base, the two dashes come across the loudspeaker, causing several groans.
Wedge: Alright, Thrawn broke Hondo, and he did in twenty minutes. Who had action on Thrawn outlasting him?
Hera, grinning: That would be me. Hondo would never give up his money, thought it was a safe bet that Thrawn would figure it out quickly.
In reality, she gave Hondo another twenty credits to crack within twenty minutes. Kanan gave her the idea for lols and Rex accepted double his entry fee for his silence.
Also, the entirety of Phoenix Squadron worked overtime to hide the pool’s existence from Ezra.
