pairing: owner!seonghwa x bunny!reader x fox!wooyoung
w.c.: 2.6k
tags: smut, fluff, hybrid au, fem reader
desperate and whiny, your heat pheromones triggered wooyoung's feral instincts, forcing seonghwa to step in and teach him how to treat you properly.
warnings: dom!seonghwa, switch!wooyoung, sub!reader, heat cycles (f), unprotected sex (👎), multiple creampies, multiple orgasms (f&m), breeding kink, use of restraints (leash and collar), nipple play, hwa is referred to as daddy a few times, brat taming (kinda, wooyoung is too eager for his own good), cum eating/swallowing, cum everywhere, so much cum, wooyoung used to be a stray so he struggles with controlling his animalistic instincts, nicknames (baby, bunny, darling; youngie; hwa, daddy), aftercare
A/N: I've had this idea in my notes for quite a while now, and I've wanted to write for this pair for just as long, so I'm really happy I finally got it done :"" happy reading!

A silent home was an unusual occurrence. In most cases, Seonghwa came back to a brightly-lit apartment, it’s two other occupants racking up the electricity bill in his absence. This time, however, it was pitch black, the living room illuminated by the single lamp shining through his open bedroom door. He looked around as he walked through the room, taking in the mayhem that had broken out between the four walls: a broken vase by the coffee table, water pooling over the carpet where a bundle of roses laid lifelessly; the couch cushions thrown haphazardly around the room, only a few left in their place, Tom chasing Jerry on the TV across from it. Walking further into the house, he noted the untouched food bowls by the kitchen’s entryway and finally allowed worry to flood his system. Seonghwa was used to his two hybrids’ rapid footsteps as they barrelled their bodies towards him the second he walked through the door, climbing his body and nuzzling into his clothes. He was used to empty bowls and whiny pleads for dinner. And despite their playfulness, he was used to coming home to a fairly clean apartment, perhaps being met with wide, glassy eyes in case they had broken something while he was at work.
A soft whimper slipped through his open bedroom door and Seonghwa’s legs moved on their own, panickily rushing through the doorway and halfway into the room before stopping. His eyes widened and his leather work bag slipped through limp fingers as he scanned the scene unfolding before him – the fox hybrid covering you with his body and consequently folding yours in half, your legs thrown over his shoulders as he bucked his hips into your used cunt. Seonghwa’s eyes trailed down to study where you connected, the vulgar squelch of his cum being relentlessly fucked into you, streaming out of your hole and soaking your bunny tail, the ball of fur vibrating weakly at the overstimulation.
Seonghwa had taken Wooyoung in after spotting him dragging an injured leg along the side of a busy road, nursing him back to full health and realising he had gotten too attached to the cheeky fox to let him go. You had been shy and dismissive of the curious hybrid when he first entered your home, perhaps even a little jealous when Seonghwa spent a little too much time caring for him rather than doting on you. It took the fox a few days to open up to you, and only a little over a week for you to realise that Seonghwa was right: It was hard not to love Wooyoung. It surprised Seonghwa at first when you suddenly became accepting of the other hybrid’s presence, welcoming the insistent kisses he pressed to your twitching nose and cuddling up to him on the carpet where the afternoon rays warmed the luxury wool.
After a few months of the stray fox’s move-in, Seonghwa’s surprise faded into fondness whenever he found you and Wooyoung all over each other. But this? This was unusual – Wooyoung’s tail stiff and pointed horizontally, a deep growl muffled through his gritted teeth as he ploughed his cock into you, emptying load after load into your sopping heat. You met Seonghwa’s eyes, your face turned sideways on the tear-soaked pillow, the bottom half of your face wet with a mixture of Wooyoung’s drool and your own.
Your lips widened and closed, stuttering out a few broken moans before managing to form barely-coherent words. “I, Hwa- hnngh! I-I can’t-”
The tone of your voice – desperate and pleading – broke Seonghwa out of the trance he was in, quickly crossing over to the bed and wrapped his arms around Wooyoung to pull him away from you, earning himself a brute growl from the hybrid. Seonghwa watched as pearly ribbons painted your lower belly and mound, Wooyoung’s cock twitching as he came again, immediately standing back up and Seonghwa had to tighten his grip around him to keep him off you. Wooyoung’s gaze fixed on your fluttering hole, his tongue rolling out and drool dripping onto his lap while his eyes followed the trail of cum streaming out of your cunt and pooling over the sheets where you laid.
For a few seconds, Seonghwa did the same, but he quickly tuned out the throbbing in his work pants to tend to you. He was quick to take notice of the familiar flush coating your cheeks, your eyes glazed over and unfocused and your round tail twitching every few seconds – signs he was all too familiar with. You were in heat.
“Oh, darling,” he cooed, moving Wooyoung away from you and sitting down on the edge of the bed by your waist. He cradled your face with one palm and used the other to push your hair off your face. “Your pheromones must be affecting Youngie… Are you okay?”
Looking up at him through your lashes, you blinked a few times before nodding, your whole body tingling under Seonghwa’s touch. “I feel so full, Hwa…”
Seonghwa’s eyes moved down your body until they reached your core: your index and middle fingers spreading you open to show him Wooyoung’s cum overflowing from your fluttering hole as it clenched desperately around nothing. He managed one breathy curse before Wooyoung’s head lowered onto you to lap up his own release, a sudden cry leaving your lips as you grabbed at your owner’s sleeve. Seonghwa tore away from your grip to move the hybrid off you again, grabbing him by the back of his neck and angling his head to face him.
“Wooyoung-ah,” Seonghwa warned, steadying him with a cautionary look.
The stray turned docile at his owner’s tone, his ears falling flat against his head and his tail drooping. “B-but… ‘want bunny to have my kits. ‘Gotta make sure she’s full of Youngie’s cum…”
Swallowing the saliva pooling in his mouth, Seonghwa ignored the fully-formed tent in his pants – twitching and throbbing when his eyes flitted down to your dripping core – and relaxed his hold on Wooyoung’s neck. “You have to be gentle with her, Youngie. You can’t be that rough or she might get hurt,” he smoothed his palm over the fox’s head, lightly scratching behind his ear.
Seonghwa was too distracted admiring the soft blush tinting Wooyoung’s cheeks to notice your hand moving up his leg, inhaling sharply when you cupped his clothed bulge. They both looked down at you – nuzzling your cheek into Seonghwa’s thigh while your hand worked over the hard outline of his cock.
“Can daddy show Youngie how I should be treated?”
--
Wooyoung leaned forward just enough for the leash to tug on the collar around his neck and restrict his airflow, pulling back and panting heavily before leaning forward again, lips parted and drool pooling on the sheets between his legs. He fluttered his eyes shut and welcomed the steady rhythm of skin-on-skin echoing between the four walls, knowing Seonghwa’s cock was drilling his cum into your tight cunt. He opened his eyes again to take in the sheen of sweat covering both your bodies, Seonghwa’s hips relentlessly slamming into yours. It was as though your pheromones were affecting him too despite him being human; you could tell he was barely holding on, trying to maintain a sliver of control over the situation to keep you grounded.
Having spent years with Seonghwa, nothing satiated your need to be bred like he did, grinding his cock into you in a way that sent hot waves of pleasure soaring through your body and fogging up your brain. All you could think about was Seonghwa, Seonghwa, Seonghwa – his fingers gripping the soft skin of your thighs, pushing one down onto the mattress and holding the other around his waist; his mouth periodically pressing against yours, swallowing up the soft melody you sang for him before peppering kisses all over your flushed face. Your whole body shuddered under his when he drove you into another orgasm, praise rolling off his tongue, his voice sweeter than honey while he guided you through your nth high.
“Fuck, good girl,” Seonghwa praised, brushing his palm over the side of your head and dipping down to peck the tip of your twitching nose. “More, baby?”
You nodded desperately, using the leg around his waist to push him closer and further into you.
"So desperate to be bred," he chuckled. "Wanna be fucked full of my cum, hm?"
“Please, please-”
He silenced your whines with a harsh thrust, the corners of his lips tugging upwards when your features relaxed, ecstasy flooding through your body. He looked to the side, taking notice of Wooyoung’s dick – the tip an angry red, leaking an obscene amount of precum – and how his eyes fixed on where the two of you connected, transfixed by his owner’s cock pumping his own cum into your stretched hole, pushing some out to dampen the soiled sheets under you.
Seonghwa let go of your hip to unclip the leash from Wooyoung’s collar, instead grabbing the leather and tugging the stray down to your chest. He didn’t waste a second before latching his mouth onto your perked-up nipple and sucking harshly. Trailing his lips over the slope of your breast, Wooyoung whispered against the slick skin and smiled slyly at the shiver that shook your body, “Gonna be so pretty when they’re swollen with milk.”
His hands remained behind his back – following the firm instructions Seonghwa had given him while securing his leash to the bedhead – digging them into his lower back as he resisted the urge to touch you. Instead, he licked his way back to your nipple, taking it between his teeth and biting down a little too hard, the sharp pain pulling a broken cry from your lips. Long fingers tangled in the hair at the crown of his head and tugged harshly, making Wooyoung face upwards to meet Seonghwa’s burning irises.
“What did I say earlier? Are you gonna be a good boy and listen to me?” Seonghwa growled, his other hand smoothing a thumb over your breast while he stared down the fox hybrid.
Wooyoung stuttered, mewling under Seonghwa’s stern hold, “I’ll be your good boy, I promise! Please, please, I’ll be so good-”
Seonghwa pumped his length between your pulsing walls to push out a dribble of the cum the fox had pumped you full of, scooping it up with two fingers and carrying it to Wooyoung’s open mouth. The hand still holding him up tugged at his hair to sit him up before stuffing his fingers down his throat. Seonghwa began grinding his cock into your heat at the sight – Wooyoung’s eyes glassy with unshed tears, his throat constricting around the long fingers fucking his own cum into his mouth. The older man knew he enjoyed being used like this, taking notice of how his cock twitched violently between his legs at the rough handling.
Seonghwa’s eyes moved back to you – whimpering under him and rolling your hips, seeking out more friction – but he continued making Wooyoung gag on his fingers. Once, twice, and the stray was painting your chest and belly with hot ropes of cum, moaning pathetically as he came untouched, the rough prodding of his owner’s fingers against his uvula enough to drive him over the edge.
But then you were cumming, clamping down on Seonghwa’s cock and deriving a breathy curse from his plush lips before he began pounding into you. Slipping his fingers out of Wooyoung’s hot mouth, he dug them into your hips and chased his own release. Your orgasm prolonged with Seonghwa’s relentless thrusting, you arched your back and gripped on Wooyoung’s thigh as the man on top of you drove his cockhead into your swollen gland, airy moans rolling off your tongue with the mind-numbing pleasure Seonghwa so generously gave you.
“Fuck, fuck, fuck,” he panted, “so perfect, the both of you, shit-”
Seonghwa was so close, a hair away from giving you what you desperately wanted. “Please, ‘want daddy’s cum,” you pleaded, the overstimulation violently shaking your legs. “wanna have hwa’s babies, please, fill me up- hnngh!”
He thought he’d cum from that, but then Wooyoung was bending at the waist, licking a stripe over your heaving belly to lap at his own release, his Adam’s apple bobbing as he swallowed it down. Seonghwa came with a throaty groan, speeding up his movements before slowing them down to grind his hips into your pulsing cunt, milking himself of every last drop and fucking it into you until it mixed with Wooyoung’s seed.
The next twenty minutes were a blur, Seonghwa guiding Wooyoung into the shower before coming back with a damp cloth, delicately running it over your body to clean you up. You asked him not to wash out the sticky mess inside you, and upon seeing your wide eyes and the trembling of your bottom lip, he couldn’t help but do as you asked. He placed feathery kisses over the clean skin, fighting the shivers shaking your figure. Whining when he got up to leave, Seonghwa raked his fingers through your hair to calm you down, waiting with you until a head of damp hair peeked through the doorway, the stray fox instantly jumping onto the bed to cuddle into your side. Secured within Wooyoung’s arms, Seonghwa detached himself from you to hop into the shower.
Wooyoung’s lips grazed over your neck, pressing into your pulse point while his fingers caressed and squeezed at your waist and hips. “I’m sorry for hurting you,” he muttered shyly, pulling at your heart strings.
Your fingers carded through his dark locks, scratching behind his ear until pleased hums vibrated against your neck. “You didn’t hurt me, Youngie, it felt good, but... could you be more gentle next time?”
Wooyoung peeled himself away from you and nodded quickly, pressing frantic, open-mouth kisses all over your face while you giggled. You spotted your owner leaning against the doorframe, a towel wrapped around his hips and fondness painted across his features as he watched his two hybrids love on each other. You reached out in his direction and made grabby hands, a grin splitting your face in half when he moved towards you with a breathy chuckle.
Tucked in between the two men, you allowed their warmth to seep into your skin, the delicate kisses planted over your shoulders, neck, and face making your body shake with giddy giggles. You knew your heat would pick up again soon, and the desperate need to be bred would take over you once again, but for now, you allowed the comfort they gave you to lull you to sleep, their steady breathing guiding you into a pleasant dream.
Seonghwa rubbed soothing circles over your hip, gluing himself to your back and moving the blanket to cover you and Wooyoung’s shoulders. He noticed the other’s man’s gaze snap back up, previously fixed between your legs to follow the trail of cum seeping out of your used hole. As though he was a teenager who’d been caught watching porn, he tried playing it off by pretending to be asleep, but his exhaustion took over him and his breathing slowly evened out. Seonghwa simply watched him, endeared by the hybrid’s high libido, always ready to pounce on you if you gave him the chance. Wooyoung nuzzled into your neck, his arm thrown over your waist and his fingertips brushing over the other man’s skin. Seonghwa’s own drowsiness pulled his eyelids shut, the world around him fading away and Wooyoung’s meek mumbling echoing in his head as he drifted away:
“I wonder how it feels to be so full of daddy’s cum... I bet it feels nice.”

Izumi Sena & Leo Tsukinaga x a messy, messy gn!artistic reader
Tumblr media
——————————————————————
Synopsis: How would Izumi and Leo act with a partner who’s a tragically messy artist with extra messy on the side.
Tw? Unless you find fluff and pretend constant disappointment absolutely mortifying, there’s none!
Author note: I’ve fallen down the bottomless pit of Knights yet again and now i’m writing x reader fanfic to quell my depressing thirst for fictional idols. I don’t think the bible approves of me guys-

—————————————————————
- Izumi Sena -
- Oh great, ANOTHER Leo. At least you’re not running around at the dead of night getting lost and losing your phone…. Right? RIGHT?!?
- He loves you! He does! It’s just… When he sees the remains of your 3AM artist mayhem it just makes him question everything. Just a bit.
- The sketchbooks… The loose paper… The pens, pencils, and markers all over the place… God it haunts him in his dreams. I mean, how does a marker make it behind the GOD DAMNED PILLOWS?!? HELLO?!?!
- Has seriously considered buying restraints. Don’t test him… He will. (must we remember his Makoto moment…?)
- He thinks it’s stupid that you trash so much art. You’re going to suffocate your trashcan with all that beautiful messy art.
- And don’t think you can get away with digital art!! He’s seen your file names!!! Disgusting. How do you even manage to find anything? You don’t? Explains a lot.
- It doesn’t matter where you crash, as you’ll always find yourself back in bed with all your tasmanian devil destruction cleanly put away.
- He always makes sure you get enough sleep, enough to eat, and plenty to drink. And don’t go slouching around like an idiot! It’ll ruin that pretty pretty appearance of yours… Seriously, SOOOO annoying.
- When you show him your recent art piece that has survived Hurricane Y/N, he smiles, just a bit. Butttt like the tsundere he is he quickly covers it up and says your eyes are just playing tricks. You draw too much. Go to sleep before he has to go through the hassle of getting you glasses!!!
- What’s that? You want to know his opinion? Well, of course you do! He is the MOST qualified person for this. He is a model after all~~ He gives you a healthy balance of compliments and criticism. He knows what getting crappy criticism is like, and he never wants you to experience that too. Especially from him.
- Once you’ve left, he smiles and admires your work. He loves it! It doesn’t matter if it’s the next Picasso masterpiece or not, it was made by you and that’s special. He really wants to see where your art goes, and he will stop at nothing to make sure that becomes a reality.
Tumblr media
- Leo Tsukinaga -
- Crazy artist two, electric boogaloo.
- The team rocket theme plays when the two of you are seen together.
- “PREPARE FOR TROUBLE! AND MAKE IT DOUBLE!”
- Leo is genuinely SO happy he’s with you. Seriously. He’s never letting you go. Forget Anzu when he has YOU! :D His best, most beautiful muse!
- Naru walks into your shared room with Leo, it’s literally all paper and various stationary. She can’t even see you two!! She sighs and closes the door, she can’t take this much longer….
- Leo sees your art, and he glows. Like, LITERALLY glows. (god applied glow ink to him for 1800 seconds.)
- Your art just makes him so happy and giggly. He’s already hugging you and bouncing up and down like no tomorrow.
- Sometimes, he sees music in your art. Like, both figuratively and literally. There are now at least 20 songs that have come from the back of your sketchbook and 20 more that was written i n your sketchbook.
- If you were to EVER degrade your art in any fashion, well, Leo will get very grumpy. And whiny. And clingy. He’s NOT leaving your side and he will NOT shut up until you agree that all your art is beautiful and you’re super talented and super attractive and amazing and funny and- it never ends…
- There have been multiple instances where all the idols in Ensemble Square have found washed up and stranded pages filled with doodles and music notes. They’re just… not even surprised. They’ve even made a competition from it!
- Whoever finds the most abandoned children of the artistic mayhems ™️ gets *idk insert something that sounds appealing i can’t think of anything.*
- Now, if you decide to come with Leo to Florence, well…. Hell hath no fury like an Izumi annoyed. Buttttt that’s another story for another time ;)

i think it would be a crime not to request this on for the cuddle prompts, i live for matty being a small tiny baby
^ like i mean they're all curled up and look small, covered up so much that all they can see are big eyes peeking out and innocently blinking at them from the blanket. how do you want them to keep a straight face.
I agree! Not filling this prompt would have also been a crime! Thank you so much for sending it in!
I told myself when I started this whole prompt thing that I was going to complete them in the order that they were sent, then you, you lovely Anon sent this one in and I couldn't get the mental image of Fictional!Matty hiding in the blankets out of my head, SO I ended up finishing it next. I hope that was okay! Thank you for sending it, and I hope you like it! Please let me know what you think! (Even if you weren't the one that sent it you are also welcome to let me know what you think lol I thrive on constructive feedback!)
(If anyone else wants to send in Cuddle Prompts they can be found here)
Thanks again!

melting because they just look so cute all bundled up in blankets

George frowned as he walked through the living room into the kitchen and found it absent of Matty. He had been feeling under the weather that morning when George had left for the studio, yet he hadn’t expected him to still be sleeping at nearly two in the afternoon. His frown deepened when he stuck his head into the bedroom and realized Matty wasn’t in their messy bed either.
When he found Matty, George was going to have to have a talk with him about the fact that even if he wasn’t going to make their bed in the morning, he could at least refrain from shoving all of the blankets and pillows into a large pile in the center. It didn’t help anything in the slightest and just made it more difficult for George when he  inevitably had to put their bed back together himself in the evening, so they could get in it and go to sleep. He turned off the bedroom light, not wanting to waste electricity and shut the door- lest Mayhem decide to test his boundaries and climb up onto the bed.
George resumed his search, brow furrowing as he realized Matty wasn’t in the office, the music room, the back yard or the guest room either.  George’s concern grew as he went room to room with no sign of Matty. His car was still in the garage so he couldn’t have gone far, and George really couldn’t imagine him going for a walk, without Mayhem, when he was feeling poorly- especially in the London rain that Matty resented on a good day.
“Where is your Dad?” George asked, sitting down on the couch next to Mayhem and reaching over to scratch behind his ears. He pulled out his phone and quickly selected Matty’s name from his recent calls list. He bit his lip, a weird sense of dread settling in his stomach as it rang and rang before going to voicemail. George ended the call and hit Matty’s name again, relief flooding his chest when this time Matty answered on the fourth ring.
“‘Ello?” he slurred, his voice rough and nasally, thick with sleep, causing George’s confusion to grow, even as it became tinged with irritation.
“Where are you?” he asked, jumping straight to the point.
“What do you mean?” Matty asked before cutting off abruptly, George could picture it clearly, Matty turning away from the phone to cough into his elbow.
“I mean where are you right now?” George asked, not sure how he could be any clearer.
“Em, in bed?” he said, his words coming out like a question.
“Where?” George asked, growing frustrated.
“What do you mean where? Our house? Where else would I be?” Matty asked, breaking off to cough again. “Can you stop and get me some Lemsip on your way home? I think I’m proper ill, I haven’t gotten up to check but I’m pretty sure I have a fever.”
“I’m already home and you’re not here, also there’s some in the pantry with all that tea your mum keeps bringing that you don’t drink.” George said.
“Why is it in the pantry and not the medicine cabinet that’s fucking stupid, also what do you mean I’m not here I am, literally in our bed.” Matty said, his voice taking on a weak crackling quality after his coughing fit. George winced, he sounded awful.
“I just checked and you weren’t there,” said George stubbornly, if Matty was that unwell George didn’t understand why he had left and why he was lying about it.
“Babe,” Matty rasped, “I am literally in bed right now come see for yourself.”
George sighed and stood up,  giving Mayhem one last pat as he did so, his phone on speaker as he made his way back into the bedroom. He turned the light on and glanced around, still not seeing Matty.
“Are you trying to gaslight me or something? I know that’s something you’ve been working on with your therapist- oh my god.” George started, breaking off when the pile of blankets in the center of the bed started to move and suddenly Matty’s big dark eyes were peeking out of the mound, the rest of his face hidden by the blanket pulled over his head. He blinked sleepily, reminding George of the soot sprites in Spirited Away, he couldn’t see the rest of Matty’s face among the blankets giving him the appearance of just a large pair of eyes.
“I’m hanging up now,” Matty said, ending the call as George started laughing, wheezing as Matty continued to stare at him from the pile.
“I had no idea you were in there,” he giggled, “god you really are fucking tiny,” he said, stepping into the room as Matty shifted, sitting up so that more of his face was visible. He had never in a million years thought the blanket pile was big enough to hide Matty.
“I resent that,” he said, “I was just really fucking cold.”
“You probably have a fever, baby,” said George, coming to press the back of his hand to Matty’s forehead as if he knew what he was feeling for. Matty let his eyes fall shut, humming softly as he leaned into George’s touch like a cat. His forehead felt hot, though George wasn’t sure if it was from the fever or the fact that Matty had been trying to suffocate himself by hiding under every piece of bedding they owned.
“Probably,” Matty agreed, snuggling back into his blankets, he cracked open his left eye again. “Also stop laughing at me, I’m ill.”
“Could you even breathe under all those blankets?!” George asked, and Matty wrinkled his nose in indignation, not bothering to respond. God, thought George, at thirty four years old Matty shouldn’t still manage to look so adorable, especially ill and unshowered, his curls greasy and askew, two day old stubble shading his jaw.
“You’re so fucking cute,” George said verbalizing his thoughts, as he kicked off his shoes and undid his belt so that he could step out of his jeans.
Matty preened as George grabbed onto the edge of one of the blankets, lifting it up so that he could climb in next to Matty. He specifically decided against commenting that Matty had settled in the bed backwards, so that his head was where their feet usually were. Matty let himself be maneuvered into George’s arms, now orientated correctly in bed as George leaned against the headboard.
Matty sighed contently, burying his face in George’s tee shirt covered chest, George’s fingers carding through his hair.
“So,” said Matty after a moment, “I should have said this before we got comfortable, but about that Lemsip you said we have...”

do we think peter is a fan of the muppets because personally i think he loves them but he also couldn't love them the way i love them im gatekeeping the muppets!
i can see him watching the muppet show i feel like he loves mahna mahna and the snowths
(i have a section in my notes where i cast the muppets in movies i cant even lie but listen american psycho where everyone apart from patrick bateman is a muppet would be so funny so its valid)
"he couldn't love them the way i love them im gatekeeping the muppets" god me when he could never love himself the way i love him so im gatekeeping him from himself !!! /j
hoNESTLY DID I GHOST WRITE THIS ASK??? THIS IS ON BRAND FOR ME YOU CAN'T EVEN IMAGINE !!! KJGHSDGKSDG
excuse my autism for a moment; he'd love the muppets. we all know it. you're so right, ri. especially in their more chaotic era. back when kermit still had an attitude and a tendency to go crazy go stupid. i have a gut feeling peter would get a kick out of jim henson's more obscene skits. but of course, mahna mahna is a classic. can't ever go wrong with mahna mahna.
mf would've loved the muppet bohemian rhapsody cover.
i rly wanna assign animal as his fav muppet, but we can never really predict these things. it's just...c'mon...he'd love any member of electric mayhem, really. esp dr teeth. seems right up his alley.
i bet he'd also rly like the wilkin's coffee commercials. he would've been a lil baby when they aired. but if he ever saw them later...oh my god...theyd have him laughing his ass off.
you're a genius btw. an absolute living legend. patrick bateman surrounded only by a cast of muppets - but still playing out the same plotline is the funniest shit. paul allen huey lewis and the news scene, but patrick chops up a jared leto muppet instead. poetic cinema

Who Needs Fast Times? -Steddie-Fic
Eddie said he had the purpose of renting The Dark Crystal when he walked into Family Video that day.
"Yeah, our favorite little flock are coming over later. Might as well make it a movie night, right?"
Steve, who knew they were all going over to Eddie's new trailer later because *he* would be the one taking them over, nodded sagely.
"That's a good idea. Creepy Muppets will definitely keep those rag tag idiots entertained for a while."
Depositing an armful of return tapes on the counter, Robin couldn't help but laugh.
"Oh! Steve! I heard that Tammy Thompson is planning to join a band!"
Eddie's nose crinkled. "Is it Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem? Because she sounds like a Muppet, and not even the cool, creepy kind."
Steve beemed at Eddie, happy, fond smile on his face. "Yes! That is exactly what I've been saying!"
The more they were around each other, the more Steve and Eddie found that they strangely had many things in common. Despite outward appearances, it became quickly apparent that the two guys were ridiculously compatible.
As friends, of course.
It fascinated the kids, especially Dustin, how in sinc they were. Like a well oiled machine. If they were not on the same wavelength, they were balancing each other out. More than once Dustin secretly pouted that Eddie would be the perfect boyfriend for Steve. You know, if Steve and Eddie liked guys. The one time he vented about it to Max, Eddie had overheard.
Oh, if Henderson only knew.
At this point, pining was an art to Eddie. To him, his growing friendship was worth a little heartache, if it meant he got to keep Steve.
Hey. Steve looked out for everyone else. Someone had to look out for him.
If he knew how Eddie felt...well, it might not go well.
A costumer had come in in the middle of their laughter. The two employees calmed it down to give the Family Video greeting. In fake, cheery unison.
Eddie laughed again when the customer was out of earshot. "Talk about creepy Muppets. You two are giving the Skeksis a run for their money."
Steve furrowed his brow. "Who?"
Robin rolled her eyes. "The creepy Muppets we have been talking about, dingus!"
Eddie, a glint in his eyes, leaned his forearms onto the counter, getting dangerously close to Steve's face.
"Stevie, have you actually seen The Dark Crystal?"
Steve, not moving away, only shrugged. "No? But, come on, the movie cover has creepy Muppets on it. Not that far a leap, Ed."
That glint danced as he shot an amused look briefly to Robin. "You're coming with the kids, right?"
Finally stepping back for a little space, Steve blinked. "Oh. You want me to stay? I was just doing the drop off."
Eddie tilted his head, eyes never leaving Steve's but calling over his shoulder. "Bucks, you and Big Boy are both welcome to come join our fiasco tonight. We can educate this poor boy on good movies."
"It would take a lot more than one night, Eddie. But sure, I'll go."
Steve moved from the counter and put his hands on his hips. "Hey, I know good movies! Just because I haven't seen some of the nerdy ones does not mean I don't know!"
Looking over, he held up one in triumph. Robin squawked and rolled her eyes.
"No! Not this again."
"Yes! This again! This is a good movie!"
Eddie reached for the cassette. "What movie even is this?" Yanking it out of Steve's hand, Eddie danced away and ducked down next to Robin. Reading it silently, Eddie looked up in disappointment at Steve.
"Fast Times at Ridgemont High? Really?"
Steve looked at Eddie in astonishment. Besides the debate on heavy metal vs pop, Steve and Eddie agreed on almost everything.
"Wait, you don't like Fast Times?"
Robin actually looked a little worried. Steve face looked like it was a little in pain.
Eddie bit his lip, but shook his head. "Sorry, Steve-o. Not really my thing."
Steve seemed to rally, and bounced on his feet, looking a bit like an excited Dustin. "But, like, come on. Everyone likes at least some parts of the movie."
"Oh my God, Steve! Shut. Up-" Robin tried to speak over when she realized where he was going with that.
Eddie crossed his arms. "Eh, I watched it once. Didn't really like it."
"What about at-"
"Steve, NO-"
"53 minutes and-"
"I SWEAR, IF YOU SAY-
" -5 seconds?"
Eddie twirled the ring in his index finger. "What's at 53 minutes and 5 seconds?"
Steve smiled and opened his mouth.
Robin beat him to it.
"DON'T. SAY. BOOBIES!"
Steve smiled.
"Boobies."
Robin threw a pack of red licorice at him.
Eddie...still did not look impressed. " 'Boobies' ? That's it?"
"That...that's it?! They're boobies!"
"Like, are they enchanted boobs?"
Both Steve and Robin were speechless.
Robin recovered first. " 'Enchanted Boobs' ?! Jesus Christ, Eddie!"
Steve literally shook off his stupor. "There's no magic in Fast Times, Eddie!"
The one customer they had quietly slinked out the doorway.
Noticing this, Eddie wiggled the cassette, only for Steve to step up and take him from him.
"Okay, so what makes that part so special?"
Steve was flummoxed. "The boobies is the special part! Anyone that likes boobies likes that part!"
And all at once, Eddie felt his stomach drop to the floor.
Anyone who likes boobies likes that part...but Eddie doesn't seem to see anything special about that part.
He knew he was silent for too long. And by the tiny gasp that Robon let out, he knew his secret was out.
He was out.
Sure, he could have left it as is. Made a joke, run away. Not let them know.
But, Eddie was trying to be braver. And, these were supposed to be his friends. Best friends, really, aside from Henderson. Shouldn't they know him for real?
Taking a risk, Eddie used a luck point to roll.
"Yeah...still not my thing, Steve."
Steve furrowed his brow.
"What's not your thing?"
Gathering ever piece of courage he had, Eddie whispered in Steve's ear.
"Boobies, Big Boy."
He stood back, trying to hide his nerves with a goofy smile.
Robin reached out.
"Oh, Eddie. Are you-?"
"A Friend of Dorothy? Just call my Scarecrow. Or Toto, I guess."
Steve, frozen, said distractedly, "Nah, you wouldn't Bless the Rains in Africa."
Shaking that off, Steve put a hand on Eddie's shoulder.
"You-you like guys?"
Eddie, nervous, replied, "Yeah."
He did not expect both Steve and Robin to manhandle him into a slightly awkward, but very warm hug.
Robin squeezed him tighter. "This is so big! Thank you for trusting us with this!"
The door chimed as another customer came in. That time, Robin was the only one to say the greeting, only after untangling herself. It took Steve a little longer to pull away (which Eddie didn't mind.)
When he did, though, his cheeks were red, and he was looking at Eddie like he knew an answer to a question Steve didn't think to ask.
Showing the customer the choices of children's movies, Robin reached out and squeezed Eddie's hand. "We'll talk later. But, I am so proud of you!" Looking over at Steve, she nodded, and smiled at Eddie. "Just, you know. If you're Scarecrow, I'm definitely Tinman." She walked off.
Eddie grinned. "I knew it!"
Seeing as it was only the two of them left, Eddie whistled and grabbed The Dark Crystal. "I better get going. Gotta set up crash space for the flock. And a place for us grown ups to sit."
As he walked out, he heard Steve curse at himself, before being followed out the door.
"Hey, Eddie! Wait!"
Eddie turned, movie in hand.
"You called, Sir Steven?"
Running fingers through his hair and scratching at the back of his neck, Steve asked, "Okay, so, no to boobies, right? Well, w-what do you like?"
"What do I like...?"
Steve smiled, but almost bitterly said, "Nerdy guys, right? You probably like really smart guys with perfect pecks. Or Metalheads! Do you like metalheads? Because you like the same music?"
Was...was Steve...jealous?
Holy shit.
Heart hammering, Eddie locked eyes with Steve.
"Stevie, Stevie, Stevie. I might be awesome, but loving another version of me would get so boring."
He sauntered closer, never taking his eyes away from that beautiful brown.
The words tumbled out. "What do you like, then?"
"I like hairy chests."
Steve actually looked down at himself.
"Eyes on me, Big Guy."
When he knew he had Steve's undivided attention, he spoke in a hushed whisper..
"I like hairy chests. I also really like dumb jocks that are a lot smarter than they are given credit for. I like guys with terrible tastes in movies and music, but God damn do they love their friends and their kids."
The longer Steve was silent, the more dread Eddie felt. Just as he was about to apologize, Steve leaned over and kissed his cheek.
"Please let me be reading this right. Because, God Munson, I want to be reading this right so bad."
Eddie, blushing, whispered to Steve.
"Uh...do you happen to like guys too?"
Steve whispered back, "I'm half Toto, and I'm going to show you just how much I like you, Eddie Munson."

Caregiver Electric Mayhem Headcanons (The Muppet Movie)
Tumblr media
Dr. Teeth
His wardrobe is a symphony of chaos, and you’re always welcome to partake. He’s happy to loan you any of his clothes, or take you shopping to create your own crazy outfits. A kiddo as amazing as you was born to stand out!
He often goes on complimentary tangents with flowery (and possibly made-up) words. He loves talking, and he loves you; so talking about you can last for ages.
He loves to sit and color with you, or help you repaint your room, or use face paints on you… Art is something he really enjoys, and he’s always excited to share it with you.
Slow, quiet music isn’t really his scene, but he’ll play some softer tunes if you need help falling asleep. (And if you want something loud and proud to help you wake up, he’s got ya covered!)
He and the others put together a “Cool Kid’s Corner” on the tour bus so you ride along with them. (Dr. Teeth totally got you a beanbag chair so you can travel in maximum comfort.)
Floyd
Spoils the HECK out of you. (Nothing’s too good for his kiddo!) Often, you don’t even need to ask for what you want; he just knows somehow.
Also, ALL the compliments. Everything you do, you do well; anything you wear, you look great in; every time you mess up, you mess up with style. Seriously, your self-esteem may never be higher than it is while you’re with Floyd.
He occasionally loans you his jacket ‘cause he thinks you look adorable wearing it. (And you do.)
As the main songwriter of the band, you can bet he writes songs about you on occasion. Anyone who knows you can tell when a song is about you because he’ll incorporate things you frequently say or do, things you enjoy, and general descriptions of you.
Maybe it’s because of his songsmith skills, but he is great at telling you bedtime stories. He usually tells you the classics, but he describes them so uniquely you often feel like your hearing something brand new.
Janice
She prefers to stick to organic foods for herself, so she is super on top of your food preferences and restrictions. (She also tries to encourages you to eat healthy, but she’ll never force you; it’s a free country after all.)
She likes to wear a bit of makeup, and she loves to help you put on makeup if you choose to wear it. You look fantastic with or without it, of course, but getting extra fancy is always fun.
Whatever age you regress to, Janice treats you a little younger. She can’t help herself - you’re just so cute, she just HAS to baby you!
One of her favorite activities to do with you is tie-dye clothes - or stuffed animals! She has a number of methods for making amazing patterns, and she loves to see you wearing the things you create.
She is super encouraging of everything you do. She’s always trying to boost your confidence.
Animal
In a lot of ways, he’s like a big dog. He’s wild, excitable, and incredibly protective of you. No person will ever bother you ever again, and anything inanimate that upsets you (thunder, darkness, bugs) is gonna be growled at.
He has the highest energy levels of anyone in the band. Any time you want to play, he’s ready! He especially loves games where he gets to chase after you.
Animal is very rough-and-tumble and likes to wrestle, but he’s always very careful not to hurt you.
Sometimes kids just want to be destructive. Maybe you’re upset about something; maybe you’re overly excited. Whatever the reason, Animal is ALWAYS ready to help you break things.
… And sometimes kids just want to sit quietly. Animal isn’t as good at just hanging out, but for you, he’s willing to try.
Zoot
He’s the chillest member of the band. He never pushes you to talk or do things; if you just want to sit on the couch in silence for hours, he’s right there with you.
(Similarly, if you want to hang out and watch movies, he’s always up for that. He really enjoys watching things you enjoy, even if he sometimes spaces out.)
Zoot can be forgetful at times, but he always remembers the really important things. He never forgets what kinds of things upset you, what allergies you have, or your favorite pet names.
If you need to vent, he’s always ready to listen. He’s one of the best people to talk to; he never interrupts and doesn’t offer any advice unless you really want it.
He’s tremendously patient. If you’re struggling to learn something new, he’ll remind you a hundred times without getting frustrated. If you’re throwing a tantrum, he’ll wait you out without ever losing his cool. He’s never gets annoyed no matter what you do or don’t do.

Monthly Muppet Madness: Muppets Mayhem
Tumblr media
Hello all you happy muppets. For those of you new to this feature, i'm jake I review stuff and once a month I tackle all things muppets, from the troupe themselves to the various hensony spinoffs from Jim Henson and later Henson Workshop. If it has a muppet or something close to a muppet in it, it can go here. This marks a very special occasion for this feature as Muppets Mayhem is the first new Muppet project since I started doing this last march. It's also one I was entirely pumped for not just because I'd get to cover it whenever it dropped, but also for starring the electric mayhem, characters i've always liked and felt could front their own series.
It's also exciting as this is the first time in nearly a decade Disney has done a major muppets production. After the underperformance of Muppets Most Wanted and the quick cancelation of their sitcom, Disney has less cherished the muppets as anyone should and more.. trotted them out once every few years to do something with the property while not actually carring enough to do a new film or tv series and blaming the property itself for the fincial failures of Muppets Most Wanted and The Muppets... and not the fact the former was simply released against a pretty stacked theater and had a very diffrent (if still wonderful) tone from it's beloved predecessor, while the latter had a troubled production and while far from perfect had some good stuff in it.
Disney took a few setbacks as a sign that the muppets were done.. instead of a sign that maybe they just needed a new direction. Steve Whitmire's firing due to his increasing ego and Matt Vogel's rough go when he started as Kermit (not helped by not having the traning period whitmire did), really didn't help, but Disney didn't have a huge excuse. The Muppet Babies reboot happened and having watched some with my toddler nephew recently, it was pretty good, but as far as big mainstream attempts at reinviorating the muppets , Disney really didn't seem to give one iota of a shit and trotted them out for smaller projects like Muppets Now or the Muppets Haunted Mansion.
Disney Fucking up really isn't a suprise, especially given their recent debacle of removing a lot of disney+ shows including the muppet based earth to ned, which i'll be covering in july because fuck this decision entirely.
My point is, besides Disney can go eat a shoe sometimes, is that the Muppets really needed a full blown shot again and to try something new, something they'd adapted to. And Mayhem, for all it's faults.. is a good test of that: deciding to focus not on the core quartet of Kermit, Piggy, Gonzo and Fozzie, but on the wacky hippies on the side. It's honestly a brilliant idea to step away from the core cast for a sec and simply see if the various other weridos int he troupe could carry a story on their own. And Electric Mayhem are custom built for this test run: they provide an ensemble, so they don't have to explain why this set of muppets are off on their own adventure, one of their number is still one of THE most recognizable muppets, meaning they still get name recongition, and it leaves the creative team with a bunch of characters who while not BLANK slates, are still not as fleshed out enough to really get into.
So is this a great new direction for the muppets that will lead into a shared muppets universe as showrunner Adam F Goldberg hopes for.. or another horrible setback at a time when it's the last thing the muppets need? Hop in the van, and cruise with me under the cut as we find out.
So before we can get into the Mayhem themselves, let's get into the man
Let Me Take Your Picture, Add It to the Mixture. The genisis of this series is simple but fascinating: So in 2016. Bill Baretta, longtime muppet performer and the hand behind Dr. Teeth, was naturally there when the Mayhem did a set at the Outside LImits Music and Arts Festival. Baretta was stunned by the massive crowd.. and got to thinking, wondering just who these guys were outside of it and decided to start developing a series on the idea.
In true muppets fashion though.. he wasn't the only person to have the idea, as around the same time, Adam F. Goldberg's friend, editor Jeff Yorkes, cut him a sizzle real to sell him on the same idea. For those less familiar wtih him, Adam F. Goldberg was the creator of the long running 80's set sitcom the Goldbergs, and as happens often once he left the show hit it's seasonal rot HARD.
How both sides came together is unknown, my best guess being Disney realized they had two similar and awesome pitches for a show with the same concept in an IP they were barely using, so simply got the three together, the three gelling as they all had the same basic vision and simply used parts from both pitches to create the final show, with the same basic core of taking these obscure hippiees and fleshing them out. Part of the appeal for Goldberg, and something I strongly agree with is while the characters were known, there was just little enough known about who they were as people to give them wiggle room to develop.
And you can see a lot of The Goldbergs in Muppets Mayhem: it follows a cartoonish mildly disfunctional family, has schemes by one of the character whose a control freak usually cause the conlfict, and usually ends in a character developing button. And this could've been a disaster.. but the style does fit the muppets really well. The Mayhem are a family of choice, Nora works well in the beverley roll, more on her later, and while it has a bit of a formula to it, the episodes are still flexbile so that while most of the story is focused on the main plot of the band making an album, it uses it in a lot of creative ways: we see the band deal with electronic producing, accidently piss off every fan army on the globe, go for a marshmellow hallucination in the desert, save dr. teeth from his overbearing parents, do a documentary with Silent Bob, meet cheech and chong, paint danny trejo's house, nearly fall off a cliff and somehow record an album. Despite it's short run time the season goes a lot of intresting places and manages to expand the characters. It's clear while Goldberg has a style to his work that will likely carry to any future productions it doesn't really hamper a muppet production, and his , yorkes and of course baretta's clear love for the characters shows in tons of carefully picked archive footage and little continuity nods, from the mallory gallery to what have. you. There's even tiny bits of canon welding, with the band both apparently having beef with the river bottom nightmare band.. and having met the feebles.. which is now muppets canon. I didn't think anyone could top James Gunn making gobots canon to the mcu, but clearly I underestimated. The background does have it's drawbacks though: It's clear none of the three involved have really done a stremaing series , and as such ther'es a lot of little network watermarks, like uncessary cast photos and act breaks, sprinnkled throughout, things not really needed in a streaming series. There's also some bigger problems with the human cast but we'll save that for later. By now your all probably wondering what's this series even about? Okay most of you have probably binged the whole thing especially given how late after the series this is comign out. but bear with me
Use it If You Need It, Don't Forget To Feed It
The plot kicks off with the Band away from the rest of the muppets for a change, in the middle of a tour that's been going for the last 40 years ever since their Debut on the muppet show. It's a nice joke.. and also one that works well as given how loosey goosey the Mayhem are with anything resembling a plan, it makes sense they'd consider hanging out in a house with everyone else or working on miss piggy's show as her house band just part of a tour. It also points to another reason the Mayhem were a very easy fit to have their own show: it's not hard to explain why their not with everyone else. While chunks of the troupe have moonlighted, Bobo was an evil sidekick, Sam a government agent, as needed for the plot, with the Mayhem being musicians and party members them simply wondering off for a while makes sense. Kermit is probably so used to it he has a backup band on standby.
youtube
Enter Nora Singh, played by Lily Singh, youtuber i'm not familiar with turned failed talk show host and now turned actress, a struggling assitant for Waxtown Records, once the height of the industry now about to close because it's head Penny wants to retire and is convinced the place is dead. While there are sadly no muppet skeletons this time, Penny herself IS a muppet, something I was glad ot hear: given this series only really has the Mayhem and two guest characters otherwise, I assumed Penny would be a human when I first heard about the character and the reveal in the first episode was all too welcome. She's played by Leslie Carrara-Rudolph, best known muppet wise as Abby Kadabby over on seasame street, which should tell you just how deep her range is. With Penny planning to shut down she has Nora shred all their old documents.. and it's there she gets her shot, as not only was Waxtown Electric Mayhem's label.. but their infamous in universe for never having done an album. It's also a nice bit of metatext as while they've done a decent amount of music, until there hadn't been a real life electic mayhem album, such a slam dunk marketing wise it's weird they never did it. As for why not in universe it's simple: They thought they had and simply forgot to. As the series establishes, and fits perfectly with what little we knew about them, they just sorta move from one thing to another on a whim, agree to most things. Their friendly and upbeat.. but getting them to actually stay on task is a challenge, something I deeply relate to as this coming out almost 20 days after the show came out can attest to. Even once that's in hand Nora still has a season's worth of problems both the bands and her own, as her sense of what a band needs to be to be profitable clashes with what the band is. Since the band is too nice to course correct her most of the time, a lot of this is left to Moog, the band's number one fan. Moog is played by former child star Taj Moowry and serves as the bridge between the band and nora: as their fan, he can explain a lot of intricacises about the band to our heroine and us in the audience, while also having a better grasp on who they are. If you've gussed a large chunk of the series is Nora ignoring Moog's entirely sound advice about how the band works, your right and it's only kept from being too tiring because we usually move on to the band doing something funny and Mowry's impressive comedic timing.
When not being her own worst enemy Nora has to deal with her more succesful sister Haanah Singh (Saara Chaundry), and her obnoxious wallpaper of an ex boyfriend JJ, who is trying to buy the record company and succeding at trying my patience every time he's on screen despite Anders Holm's best effort. The Mayhem, Hannah and Moog included over time, have to deal with all this and more, from their own personal demons, to trying to update the sound, to documentaries to Dr. Teeth's parents to the most amecae band breakup in history to Janice accidently starting a cult it's a long strange journey.. and now we have context for that journey we can dive into the meat of it: the muppets and all too many live action people and the plentifu and welcome cameos. Everybody's Lover, Everybody's Brother, I Wanna Be Your LIfetime Friend:
Now we've got context for them we can stage dive into our moshpit of a cast... and who better to start with than our headliners. The Electric Mayhem are awesome as hoped. The series was always going to live or die on if these 6 weirdos could be fleshed out enoguh comedically and emotoinally to carry a whole series, possibly whole seasons. While the series has other characters and almost all of them contribute to the story in some needed way, it was always going to be about these 6 weirdos and getting to know them better. The series really lets you get them to know them as much as a group as people. While they always had an air of being peace loving accepting hippie folk, the series simply takes that basic and gives them a fully fleshed out identity as a group and as people. In this case the Mayhem are accepting, warmly welcoming anyone to work with them, and gladly up to try anything wether it be edm or playing a concert in minecraft. It may not work but they'll at least try it. It also shows they , like many a muppet, are incredibly unfocused, running off to do a party or what have you when they get distracted. They can rock well together, but it takes some outside force to wrangle them. It's telling only Nora, who NEEDS this job tow ork and Kermit, whose simply used to doing this kind of shit with every singl eperson he works with bar scooter, are the only ones who've actually succeeded at getting them on task. And Nora often stumbles simply because of the size of the task. Not everyone is Kermit levels of able to take this and i'm pretty sure he's on like 9 types of anxiety medication with them only SLIGHTLY working.
What makes them work is their kindness: the only time they really get mad is when Nora , trying to fake it till she makes it, lies a bunch and triggers Janice's lie allergy. How she hasn't died with all the lies FOzzy and Sam tell themselves just to function is a mystery, but it's a neat enough bit. Only putting one of their own in the hosptial pisses them off and even then once Nora pours her heart out to the band and genuinely apologizes, they quickly forgive her. It's their endless optimism that drives the series, Nora's own development, and makes the series shine despite it's faults; Just a group of people who love those around them, will help anyone without a care and will genuinely not worry.
The last part holds them back. The only time they really fight with each other is episode 7, and for understandable reasons; Floyd is upset to find out a song he thought as he and janices was about how she loves the world, which is mildly dickish but understandable when you find someone you loved and assumed you were in a realtionship with dosen't seem to care at all back, while the band as a whole aren't happy Dr. Teeth took Penny, his girlfriend at the time's , suggestion to name the band after him. It's also telling that not only did Teeth never consider himself front man despite this, but once he realizes it's an actual problem, agrees to change it to just the electric mayhem. These guys.. are family. 6 very diffrent people who found each other somehow and who will gladly welcome anyone else in. While nora takes a while to bond with her new friends and soon surrogate family, they all welcome her from minute one and when Nora ends up homeless thanks to a spat with her sister, they welcome her in. When Moog dosen't understand why he's invited on tour at the end, as while he's become the album's producer, he assumes he'll just be following them as usual, they explain as if it was the most natural thing he's part of the band now. These are kind, loving, warm protaganists who simply live to play musuic, spread good vibes. It takes the good ideas of the 60's peace movement and applies them to today: simply show kindness, welcome people in as family wether your blood related or not, rock out, and do your best. That's all you can ask. I never thought i'd be deeply moved by the electric mayhem, but i'm glad I was. While the band is still mostly a unti, each one still gets fleshed out more. Three of them get full on origin storis Animal get shis first and it's truly touching and fleshes out how Floyd is always taking care of him. What was once more just a weird sort of friendship/beast taming, becomes a father and son, a development I utterly love: As it turns out whatever stygian being birthed animal left him on Floyd's doorstep with a note to KEEP, and Floyd being a kind, welcoming sort, gladly took in the small child and made him his son and adopted him with his commonlaw husband and wife. It also shows that while everyone's worried when Animal, thinking a joke about him being replaced by a drum machine is real, quits, Floyd is devistated and badly just wants his son back.
He may be a loved part of the mayhem and a treasured family member.. but he's Floyd's kid. It's why he's spent years helping him blend with others and keeping him form eating furintirue and why Animal ultimately comes back despite being a great hibachi chef. Floyd also gets some minor spotlight in Dr. Teeth's spotlight episode: when Teeth's domeneering mom and agreeable to said mom dad show up to drag him back for the 80th time we find out Teeth was a meek dental student content to follow his mom.. but meeting Floyd in a music store and then many other times because destiny ships these two as hard as I do, Teeth realizes what makes him actually happy and while he makes his grampy's floss case into a tooth, he ultimately becomes the rock god we know. And while Floyd does have at hing for Janice, the series still makes his and Dr. Teeth's orgiin story as gay as possible in the best way possible, with it being one long allegory for one person awakening anothe'rs sexuality, down to the disaproving parents. The fact the mayhem come off like they'd be very fond of open relationships makes neither this nor Teeth's actual love intrest in the series a problem. While the whole "son has parents who want to shove him into a career" is all too common a story trope.. and a thing that really happens in real life, it works well enough here as Teeth was never in a ton of danger of actually going with them, only breifly doing it when Nora interupts his normal process for this. It's stil lhealthier he finally made amends with his parents, but it works. The more compelling bit of his backstory, beisdes all the shipping in the previous bit, is Penny. Teeth broke her heart leaving a while ago and while they quickly get back together, and we sadly just as quickly find out he has a foot thing... and we see them playing this little piggy on screen
Tumblr media
Look am I kink shaming dr. teeth? No. What they want to do to each other is their buisness and the relationship is oddly adorable outside of this scar to my brainpan. But do I want to see a muppets gross foot while Dr. Teeth implies he's going to do sex things to it? No. I'm sure even some foot fetishests would agree. The Dalmationatrix in the happy time murders was less overtly sexual. And also way hotter, but that may be a me thing and may make my point as i'm sure many of you shuddered a bit at that statment. Point is please no more stuff like this adam f goldberg. Implied muppet sex is fine, just don't show us muppet feet. Please no. No feet pics.
I was.. talking about something. Oh yeah. The problem is Teeth left her abrubtly earlier, and he find sout during the groups' marshmellow drug trip in the dessert it's because he has commitment issues, likely DUE to said parents. Penny isn't mad he coudlnt' commit forever, just that he couldn't FOR NOW. , and Teeth realizes this just isn't healthy, not only unblocking him writers wise, but letting him be open with their relationship, which not only gets Penny off the groups back, but onto his and OH GOD....
Tumblr media
Okay for my sanity we're moving on to Janice. We get to see more of Janice's empathetic side: while she's still as fursurely as ever, we get to see she loves trying to help other people.. and much like Steven Universe, while this isn't a bad thing on the surface, it also means she never helps herself, something only her hallucination clone can get her to realize. It is nice to see her be so supportive, realize she needs self care, and generally get to be more than just "one of the only other female muppets" and "space case". She also forms a cult when the band gets addicted to the internet. This isn't a plot twist I saw coming but is it the best thing in human history? Probably. Fursurelian for life. Hopefully I will be spared when it happens. Animals as pointed out gets his backstory, and while he has a crush on NOra very early on, he later realizes it's because they both lost parents and becomes more protective. It's adorable. Animal dosen't change much but it makes sense: Out of the mayhem Animal was easily the most used and the one who could easily show up on his own for gags. Animal is often thrown in with the core four and has shown up in just about every muppet production. He's an icon for good reason: his simple antics and shouty performance just make him loveable as all hell. This series further highlights this by making him the mayhem's youngest, esspetainlly being a hyperactive 20 something. It also posititons hima s the heart of the gorup: they can't bring themselves to play when he leaves for an episode and their breakup to make tension for the climax mostly happens because he's too exausted from his side gig to stop it, and once he wakes up and finds noras gone missing he's the one to bring everyone back together. He's the core of the group: he may be the most popular but he wouldn't be without them. They need him and he would never leave them.
Finally we have Zoot and LIps. Zoot is the blue one and Lips is the one with an afro who I frequently forget is in the band because he disappears a lot. Zoot.. really isn't fleshed out that much. He takes photos and he's forgetful. They add nothing to him. He's easily the weakest character here. He does hang out with an anthromoprhic shoe, so there's that at least. In contrast Lips goes from being often wallpaper only there when needed, to quitely one of the best parts of the show. His gags now are that he's unitellgible and despite that has a LENGTHY and epic history. He's the one who convinced Kesha to drop the $.. which also implies he helped her breka free from dr. lukes' abuse. Zoot's a good one. He's also friends with Paul Mcartney and Paula Abdul among many others. It's just a nice gag and he's geninely fun and it's used in moderation enough to not wreck the show. So the band is solid as ever. The human characters.. are a bit more hit and miss. Starting with Nora, Lily Singh does her best, and she does have a nice energy that plays off the muppets well. She's trying very hard and i'd love to see her in another production as she has clear talent. The issue really isn't her.. it's the script. Nora is written however the episode needs her:, and thus is pulled between uptight nerd whose mildly out of touch with music, hence a running gag where she sees the lyrics of rock and roll all night "and part of every day".
Other times she has a deep love of rock, having a bob marely tatoo, well knows the modern scene, and her issues come more from simply not working with what she has in the band, of trying to make them what she THINKS will sell instead of what they are, which is a metaphor for how disney has treated the muppets and many ips at time if ever there was one. The latter just works better, and it's when it dips too far into one end or the other of her being uptight or into rock where it falters and singh can often come off stiff.. because I supsect she really dosen't know what this character feels. If the writers don't know who nora is how can the audience or the person playing her? Nora is supposed to be a major pillar of the series.. but the writers refusal to give her depth despite trying to plaster it on with her having had to raise her sister or her type a personality means the character flails next to the better defined muppets. It also dosen't help her most major human costar.. is given a more consitent and intresting character. Moog is easily the highlight of the show shuman caast, with Taj Mowry given way more to work with. Moog's character isn't super deep, but has just enough depth to work well: he intitially comes off as simply a fanboy, constantly asking Nora to look at his demo like any struggling musician.. but as the episodes go on we get to know him better. We see like any good fan the band mean a ton to him and his friendship with them is genuine: while he's a massive fan of theirs, they treat him with respect like they woudl anyone, gladly bond with him and are thankful he's there for him. IN turn he gets the band in a way Nora dosen't and part of her best moments is having him as contrast: he tells her very early on she simply dosen't have to posture because the band are the most acepting people. His best stuff comes in episode 5: while nora desperatelyt ries to get the band to make a "new sound", he gets angry.. but it's not fan entitlmeent as Nora thinks.. but because he's taken the time to actually listen. He get stheir sound and when nora finally listens to his demo.. she realizes, eventually at least, that his sound actually bridges their 70 vibes to modern production. He has real talent, and a real love for the band. We also get what I feel is one of the best seens for singh as a result: nora pouring over old footage as she goes from someone simply seeing the band as her next step.. to being a mayhead herself and knowing how to finally help them to their best. The show needed more of this, having nora as a symbol of a coprrate present.. and shedding that to be more herself, someone who really knows music and opens up.
Moog does take a hard nosedive in the last few episodes though. It starts to peak through when he gets jealous of Nora's ex jj and tricks him into bringing up the name thing, nearly breaking up the band.. but in the last two it really gets bad. Instead of telling Nora how he feels.. .he sulks in the background as she gets back together with human carpet, then blames her for the band's breakup because... she told them what the internet was. Which is something most acts need to know. They breakup because they all get hooked on various internet based things and because the writers forgot to write an actual reason for conflict and had to make something up fast. The romance with him and nora genuinely isn't bad at first: he has a crush on her, btu refuses to act on it because he needs this gig and she needs this to go well. It's when they make it love triangle stuff and turn him into a mopey dickhead who almost dosen't try to get the band back together till she apologzes, a band full of people who GENUINELY love him and see him as one of them that he genuinely loves and worships. Mowry does his best but like with singh when the material isn't great.. what can he honestly do. If behaviors bad enough an actor can make it hilarous or add a smuch depth as they can. But when all your given is a big spoonful of cliche, you can only do so much. i've hinted at the human embodiment of the color beige enough, let's talk about JJ. JJ is a character I think the right actor could've hammed up enough to be tolerable. Anders Holm by contrast is a guy who tends to paly his roless subtler. As such former bagle boy for waxtown and now rich tech bro is just... annoyingly bland. He shows up to try and buy wax town to win Nora back and just kinda shows up. He adds nothing to the plot. And look i'm someone who tries to not go too hard on actors in these reviews... but you could see the but coming from a mile away couldn't you? Anders Holm.. is awful in this. He tries, he does, but he's horribly cast. JJ needed someone with enough energy to make the bad writing on the character passible, someone who can really nail the "tech bro whose secretly just trying to be one because it's the kind of guy his ex wanted" charcter. Instead he's just the bland romantic false lead from every 90's film and romcom. Singh sometimes has weak material but does her best with it and that I can admire but Holm, even acounting for his character being supleforous at best is just so agressively bland it adds nothing.
What's extra annoying is that Ben Schwartz, who is an EXPERT at playing people with huge egos in suits, it's how his career started.
youtube
Is instead left to just one episode working as Animal's job counsler. He's brilliant at it, deadpanning perfectly to Animal.. which begs the question why he wasn't given the part: At the time of this writing he isn't a regular on any live action or animated shows, he's experinced at the part and that small cameo showed he can play really well off the muppet JJ ends up interacting with the most. The result is a character who just sucks all the energy out when he's around. He's ONLY there for a very pointless love triangle no one asked for that goes EXACTLY how you'd expect with no varations toit. The idea they present in episode 7, that JJ became what he is to impress her is intresting.. but they do nothing with it and he spends the whole series as this bland cypher. You question why Nora's remotely intrested beyond "because the plot says she should be", and she suddenly moves back in with him. And he then easily blows it beause he dosen't understand why maybe the person whose dad died and mom impliclty abandoned her would bond with a band whose family. JJ just sucks, and he ends up making Moog suck as Moog spends the last two episodes moping and whining because Nora dosen't like him back when he NEVER TOLD HER. He did for good reason, this is his one shot and opportunity comes once in a life time, but it soon devolves into crap. It's the one part I genuinely hate about the series. Finally human wise we have Nora's sister, Hannah. Hannah is a character that didn't need to be in nearly as much of the series as she did. She's not bad, Saara does a decent enough job and unlike JJ the characters layers are explored well: Hannah took her sister in and let her stay on her couch.. but gets annoyed that her relationship with Nora has turned into all take and no give: Nora brings up raising Hannah after their father died and mother impliclty abandoned them a lot, and tends to put her wants over Hannah's, and is not so subtly jealous Hannah has easily reached what she wants in life, fame as an influencer, while Nora struggles and struggles and is only now getting anywhere. It feels like a real sibling conflict and the two actresses have good chemistry. It's just after Janice patches things up with the two... Hannah is reduced to influencer jokes. Once the series doesn't' really need her instead of writing the character off or finding something for her to do with the album, like I dunno work on costumes since she's shown changing costumes for her videos to pretend to be in fancy locales, or be the team's image consultant, she's just kinda there. While JJ is stapled onto the story to pad time Hannah is weirdly disconnected despite being vital to Nora's character and having plenty of ways she could be woven into it. A triangle between her, Hannah and Moog would've made WAY more sense. Instead Hannah is just there for the rest of the series.
Finally we have Penny. Penny is a great addition, being hilariously curmudgeonly and making a decent antagonist for the first half of the series without being overwrought: she hates the mayhem but doesn't actively impede them as she correctly figures win or loose, she get something out of it: the album actually happens, her protégé gets a win and she gets money. It fails, her ex falls flat on it's face and she just finishes selling the business like she was going to. Her relationship with Dr. Teeth is also genuinely sweet... I still did not need to know.. things, but it is nice and she slowly warms up to Nora, by the end ditching her vacation with Dr. Teeth to go help the band find her and willingly turning the business over to her.
Cameo wise the series is utterly stacked, with my co-pilot for this series, @jess-the-vampire often wondering how they got all these people. As it turned out from an interview most of it was just "Hey you want to be in muppets" "Done" "But I haven't even told you what you'll be doin.." "I SAID DONE". And thankfully for more Muppets tend to cast a wide generational net so there was only a few acts that had me going
Tumblr media
Mostly confined to episode 2's cameos for Zedd and Sophia Carson. Otherwise it's filled to the absolute rim with great cameos. So just rattling off my faviorite in no paticular chronological order we have: The aformentioned bit with Ben Schwartz, Kesha showing up to jam with the band when Nora's trying to find someone to produce the album, Danny Trejo showing up in episode one for one of the best bits of the series as the band paints his house thinking it's theres and later warming to them saying "Those guys painted my house. And according to Bill Danny is apparently the easiest cameo to get and it's why he's become a muppet's regular himself at this point and it's easy to see why. Also really game was my boy Kevin Smith, who naturally was more than willing to take shots at himself, refering to himself as a one star director and letting them take a shot at yoga hosers, which I haven't seen, and god willing never will. He even gets to , as Dr. Teeth puts it be "Silent bob saying something meaningful at the end of the film. " We also get a nice Peter Jackson cameo that as I said confirms meet the feebles is canon to the muppets. How Goldberg got away with that I GENINELY have no idea. And in a long overdue team up we get Weird motherfucking Al Motherfucking Yankovic who appears to Floyd to tell him to stop being such a perfectionist.. and to remind him that yes, Al does more than parodies that criticism is fucking old please stop. Other great cameos include James Hong as Dan, the chef who declares Animal the Chosen one, Joe Lo Trugilo as a Mo Cap Maestro the band works with for their minecraft concert, Charlamange Tha God as himself interviewing the band when they have their contrived penultimate episode amicable breakup, Cedric Yarborugh as a cop who pulls the band over for holding up traffic, Tommy Lee as a walking STD, and most entertainingly Jack McBrayer, Rachel Bloom, Riki Lindholme and Nicole Beyer, always a highlight, all showing up as the heads of various fan armies when Dr. Teeth's autocorrect pisses off all of music.
So with that there's one last bit of business.. and frankly if your going to do a show about the world's greatest muppet band.. it's one of the most important
All of Us Are Winnin, Pickin and a Grinnin, Lordy But I Love to Jam The music was always going to be the thing that either made the series or ruined it for me. Can You Picture That? Is one of my faviorite muppet songs, and as the Mayhem's only original song up to this series it left some VERY big shoes to fill. I mean it's hard to go up against music legend paul williams and their VERY lucky Beef wasn't involved or they'd of been screwed.
youtube
Luckily Disney brought in someone every bit Paul Williams equal, which is a sentence I rarely get to say: Micheal Gicchano, composer supreme best known for his jazzy as fuck scores for the incredibles, who got the band's style perfectly. With a 70's style groove that perfectly fits the band's vibe and most songs picked being along those lines. Paul Williams would be proud and probably is atop his magical cloud castle. As a result most of the original songs on the soundtrack are damn good and the covers are great. So let's run through them in order of appearance shall we? Rock On is the series theme and at first I wasn't a huge fan mostly because it sounded a lot like a sitcom theme. Eventually though I got over myself and asked the eternal question
Tumblr media
It's still one of the weaker tracks as a song but as an opening it sums the band up decently, has a nice beat and is chopped up decently. I realize now they didn't do the obvious and use can you picture that as it's both hard to get to theme song length, and because it's such an icon it'd overshadow everything else. Rock On is a message that this show is still the mayhem but it's something new with them, and it's still damn groovy. Not the best song ever, i've seen better tv theme songs, but a solid enough one that really worms it's way into your brain.
The first song in the show proper, Rock and Roll All nite is a fine enough cover, it's just Dr. Teeth's vocal's weren't quite the best choice for this and they didn't really change the song any to fit his vocals. To contrast this to another mayhem cover, the band did a truly awesome one of Dancin in the Moonlight for Muppets Haunted Mansion. While that song also has a softer vocal track on the original, they balanced it by having Floyd do the voice and leaving Dr. Teeth for the chorus where his croakier style fits better. Neither's vocals are bad, it's just like any band you have to match them to the song or it turns out okay at best.
So i've spent two straight songs complaining, let's get some positivity back in here. The show's version of Can You Picture that is still damn awesome, letting the current performers for the Mayhem (Zoot excepted as he STILL has the same performer) jam to their greatest song. The lyrics are fun, bouncy, and really fit the band. Do they make a lick of sense? not entirely. Are they fun and get across the vibe of a bunch of people making music? Yes.
Finally for episode 1 , we have Have a Little Faith In Me, the joe cocker classic which the band utterly nails and emotionally, shatters me in show as it was the song Nora's dad sang to her.. and the band sing it for her as thanks for giving them a shot. It's a nice moment, her finally convinced to hang in there with them, as she realizes the true magic of the mayhem and Bill Baretta's vocals are absolutely perfect. Unlike Rock N Roll All Night, Teeth's rough vocals PERFECTLY fit this song.
Next we have episode 2's finale true colors, this time lead by Janice who has a shockingly great singing voice and the tenderness of this version really hits as the Band let Nora know she can be herself. It's the heart of these songs that really works: While True Colors has been used 998 times in the history of film and tv, it's used here not because "Well it pulls the heart strings" and more because it naturally fits the moment.. while also doing that previously mentioned thing.
The next song is a bit of a joke, as Zedd makes a song with the mayhem and sofia carson they gave to her. It's funny enough, nothing great music wise, but it's made to be played over the radio and even the album version lasts exactly a minute.
Next is Bridge Over Troubled Water, a song I honestly haven't heard a ton. While I absolutely love Paul Simon, I prefer his post garfunkel works. Especially when they involve muppets.
youtube
It perfectly meshes with both the flashback to Animal and Nora turning up to stay with the Mayhem. One of the best tracks on the album.
We have a nice montage of the band trying to do diffrent versions of Rockin Robin. I'm disapointed we never finished Ziggy Marley's but hey, what happened with him and janice. I get it man. I get it.
We get a very nice cover of God Only Knows to show Moog knows what he's doing but what makes it work is it's paried with a truly stiring montage of the mayhem's history as Nora dives into it and finally really gets the band. Truly moving stuff.
Gonna Get There is a decent enough montage song, the first new song from the band in canon. It's pretty okay, mostly saved by the vocals.
Thankfully next episode makes up for it: Capping off what's already one of the best episodes of the season, we've got Gotta Be. Gotta Be has both one of the best performances but also just one of the best beats, being the kind of funky newmanesque groove that really fits the band, sung as Floyd convinces Teeth to be himself. It's one that not only perfectly fits the message of the band, but the uprorarusly joyful performance at the dental confrence is truly great. Baretta and Vogel play off each other perfectly, getting to do a full on deut and it's as awesome as it sounds. It's easily my faviorite song on the soundtrack.
Naturally the only way to follow this up.. is another cover. This time though it's of the freaking beatles, and frankly All You Need Is Love fits the band so perfectly, I don't see what else they could've gone with, especailly after an episode long homage to the documentary get back.
We Are One is another awesome 70's jam band style song, with the gang singing for unity and succesfully uniting the fan armies. It once again let's vogel vocally jam as Floyd, and there's a damn good reason they ping pong between him and Bill or both unite: they both have great vocals, and it gives the band a nice range. It's why the rock and roll all nite cover sticks out: it would've been better in Matt's hands.
So we're to the final episode as the band has seperated, hence no song for episode 9, and our first is the sound of us, another fun jam band style as Animal brings the band back together. It's perfect for a montage but far less bland Gonna Get There.
There's a fun cover of Join Together as they find Nora that once again fits the band. It feels like post poilot Goldberg and co realized what fit the band better and from that point on every song fits their style perfectly.
WE then get to the band's climactic hollywood bowl performance, belivie in us which is just.. beautiful. A joyous, uplifting celebration that fits everything perfectly and is exactly what you'd hope for. A nice power ballad using both baretta and vogel perfectly and incredibly well suited for Baretta's scratchy teeth vocals.
On Our Way is a nice U2 style song to finish out the song as the band sings us out. It's a good way to close the series and it's only real issue is that Janice, Teeth and Floyd's vocals don't really work together for the chorus. Janice might of been better left off the chorus but the bits between it are so well done, it dosen't matter.
Can You Even Find It? So we have one last odd to clean up.. so I guess it's also an end.
Tumblr media
I WAS going to do an episode guide like i normally do.. but realized as I went that in addition to this review taking a very long time as is, I had already commented on most episode based things I wanted to as I went. So this section is more just for the bits I haven't talked about. The first is the only muppet characters besides the band and Penny, Dr. Teeth's parents. Their honestly fairly entertaining his mom going a mile a minute and not seeming to get her son is super succesful, as well as her passive agressive hate of floyd ("Maam") before finally coming around to her sons music and sexuality, while her husband always agreeing with a yup while being treated in charge works. I'ts nothing really new, but their in the episode just enough for the gag to not outstay it's welcome.
The second.. is less fun. The last two episodes.. are a complete mess. The episode before this foreshadows it: it's not a bad episode. The simple idea of the band getting online and autocorrect causing them to accidently pick a fight with every fandom in music is comedy gold. It just has some age signs like having a concert in a video game, something that still happens but not nearly as high profile as it once did, and the game being minecraft, which while I havent' played a ton is a game I like and my nephews and nieces adore, is a weird choice and feels like it was the only one that said yes or disney signed off on. I mean I don't want the muppets anywhere near fortnite, but it's not something minecraft's ever done and dosen't feel like enough of a joke to work. Or maybe it's just me
Tumblr media
The last two eps though.. are not great. They have great moments and some good gags, but feel contrived: the band get hooked on various side projects. The side projects themselves are mostly entertaining, with only Teeth's (doing a spicy food tasting channel with penny ala hot ones) not really landing: We get Floyd getting hooked on jingle writing and soon having a jingle empire with Kristian Schaal as his assitant in the span of a week, Lips doing a ted talk, which while not the best ted talk gag of all time, this is..
youtube
Is still harmless enough, Zoot getting into photography and forgetting nora exists, Animal getting big on tiktok by scratching himself, and my personal faviorite: Janice starts a cult. It starts with just having people follow her, slowly escalates, and she has a full on compound by the time Nora tries to bring her back into the fold.
The problem is it feels like the band breaks up, if as ambicably as expected, simply to have drama. They likewise don't listen to nora or she can't get to them. It feels like padding to get to ten episodes, especially when episode 7 has a far better reason than "because the internet", the name issue, for them to break up. We also get Moog bitching and moaning because nora "broke up the band" because.. she told the mayhem about the internet.
Tumblr media
The actual finale at the hollywood bowl is great, as is them coming to get nora, but the road there feels like they ran out of ideas for this seasons overarching plot and just came up with something quick instead of just finding something weird to fill the space instead.
So with that we've come to the end of the road. The Muppets Mayhem is a promising first step for a new era of the muppets: it proves both a muppets production with a reduced cast can work and be pretty awesome, with lots of great gags, fantastic music and a nice heart. It just needs to either flesh out the humans better or focus more on what we came for, and rely less on stock plots the muppets have never really needed to play so straight. Also fire JJ, out of a canon.. into the sun. That'd be great. The pieces for Muppets greatness are there, they just need to get the bugs worked out of the felt. Still after a decade of no major productions, this is a very nice welcome back and hopefully the start of something fresh for the muppets. And I can certainly picture that. Thanks for reading Next Month: Daddy Daddy, take us underground as we're Returning to the Labyrinth!

WRESTLING ALL STARS: Heroes and Villains : JUNE 1996
ECW CONQUERS NEW YORK
By George Napolitano
[Sabu clobbers Cactus Jack in some EXTREME action.]
Like an off Broadway play that perfects its craft on the road before making it to the big city. ECW has been playing to full houses for nearly three years approximately every three weeks in Philadelphia, PA at the ECW Arena. Finally, after all this time “on the road,” ECW decided to try its luck in the Big Apple. And, from the response that they received in their New York debut, it’s obvious that ECW is ready to take an extreme bite out of the Big Apple!
[Sandman before he lost his Woman and his gold]
The Lost Battalion Hall in Queens, NY, was the sight of the first ECW card in the New York area. Prior To the card ECW action had been playing on MSG cable every Sunday night at 1:00 a.m. for nearly a year. ECW has its own unique brand of mayhem and violence, unlike anything that can be seen on WWF or WCW broadcasts. In NYC, it has acquired a huge late-night cult following. Although Tod Gordon and the rest of the ECW hierarchy knew that they had a following in the New York area, never in their wildest dreams did they think that their first card would produce a complete sell out with hundreds of die-hard fans turned away at the door.
[Sabu sends Cactus through a table.]
At 7:00 p.m., with still an hour to go before the show, there were 1,242 fans inside the arena with an estimated 1,000 more on Queens Boulevard unable to get inside. TO try and pacify those who were unable to secure admission to the event, the ECW announced the date of their next card and then began to sell tickets to this one. Many fans who were unable to get into the arena for the first ECW card quickly purchased seats for the upcoming show to avoid being shut out again! And, because of this huge advance ticket sale and the response of those who were fortunate to gain admission to the first ECW card, the second ECW card in Queens is sure to be another sellout.
[ECW crowds are the rowdiest wrestling crowds in the world.
Raven is dazed and confused after smashing a table with his head.]
I have been to numerous local events in my many years covering the wrestling scene, but not since the heydays of the eighties have I seen such a rabid group of fans in a local arena.
Walking through the crowd, you could feel the electricity. The excitement was such that it made you feel that you were about came to ringside. After aggravating the crowd with his obnoxious behavior, Richards walked to the ringside and said, “Hey Jojo, there’s Missy Hyatt!” Richards played up to Missy, and before leaving the ringside area Missy gave him a long, deep kiss. When their lips parted, Missy told Stevie to take that to Raven.  After Richards finally returned to the dressing room, Joey Styles introduced Paul E. Dangerously. Dangerously received a long and loud ovation from the faithful and then welcomed every one in his own inimitable style. Dangerously had quite a few things to say to the people and peppered his comments with profanties directed mainly towards WCW and the WWF. In closing Dangerously said, “There’s going to be so much electricity in here that they will feel its effects all the way in Titan Towers in Stanford, Connecticut!”
[Francine tends to an injured Pit Bull.
Paul E. Dangerously gets the Queens NY crowd worked up.
Raven is never too injured to give the Sandman a kick to the kisser!]
Finally, the time had come for the big card and in the first match Taz took on Koji Nakagawa. The “Master of the Suplex '' wasted no time in easily subduing his opponent, and when it was over, Taz, along with his manager Bill Alphonso, challenged everyone in the arena.
[Rock tables NuJack and the Gangstas are history!
Nujack pounds Rocco Rock bloody.]
Next came “The Shah” Hack Myers and his opponent was J.T. Smith Listening to the wat that the fans were cheering on the Shah, it was obvious that they had been following ECW action for a long time. After eight minutes of action, Meyers pinned Smith to win the match.
[Francine attacks Paul E. Dangerously at ringside.
Pit Bull #1 brains Eliminator #1 with a board! The Sandman is on the receiving end of several Raven rights. There were 1,242 fans inside the arena with an estimated 1,000 more on Queens Boulevard unable to get inside.]
This was followed by a match in which Too Cold Scorpio put both the tag team title and the TV title on the line. His opponent was Long Island native, Mikey Whipwreck.
[Bubba Dudley doesn’t stutter when he’s kicking butt! ECW, ECW, ECW!]
This match was sensational. Scorpio and Whipwreck put on a display of wrestling prowess that has been seen in a local arena in years. The moves exhibited by both men were just incredible. Scorpio's numerous cartwheels off the top rope were simply breathtaking with each executed with precision. However , if Scorpio had merely tried to pin Whipwreck instead of continually showing off and lifting him off the mat at the count of two so that he could do yet another cartwheel, he would have easily won the match. But Scorpio’s showboating proved to be his undoing. Cactus Jack ran in and pulled Whipwreck out of the way as Scorpio was about to land on him once again. With Scorpio rolling on the mat writhing in pain from the missed cartwheel, Cactus jack placed Whipwreck on top of the Scorpio. The referee then counted and, as he pounded the canvas a third time, Mikey Whipwreck was declared the winner and new TV and Tag Team champion!
[Buh-Buh Dudley dies his dance,]
A tag team match followed, involving the Eliminators (with their manager Jason) versus the Pit Bulls (with their valet Francine). This was another fast and furious encounter. Both teams battled continually both inside and outside of the ring with even Jason and Francine getting into it numerous times. The end came when Saturn pinned Pit Bull 2 with help from his partner in crime. After scoring the pin fall, the Eliminators, along with Jason, suplexed Francine as her large, mostly male, rooting section gasped in horror!
[Taz and Bill Alphonzo: A match made in Hell!]
The fifth match was an elimination match with the winner getting the opportunity to wrestle for the ECW title against the Sandman. The participants were Raven and Tommy Dreamer. While Raven had Stevie Richards, the Blue Meanie and Beullah in his corner, Tommy Dreamer had to wage the war alone and this led to his downfall. This battle was one of the wildest matches ever waged in New York! The combatants fought all around the arena, but when it was over Raven emerged victorious.
In the sixth match Buster Mastino easily defeated El Puertoricano despite several sensational moves by the young Puerto Richan.
[Taz and Bill Alphonzo: Can these two get any more irritating?]
The sensational Bubba Ray Dudeley was next and Buh, Buh, Buh, Bubba’s opponent was the Blue Meanie.
[Stevie Richards, Beulah McGillicuddy and The Blue Meanie seem to be having a marvelous time.]
Accompanying Bubba were the rest of the Dudley clan, while the Meanie had Stevie Richards at ringside in case he needed a helping hand. After the Meanie slapped Bubba to start the match. It went downhill for the Meanie. Bubba Ray tore the Meanie apart. Then after disposing of the Meanie, the Dudleys set their sights on Richards, and he was lucky to leave the arena alive as the Dudleys tore into him.
[Woman gives Sandman a quaff of lager!]
The ECW title match was next with the Sandman taking on Raven. As soon as the Sandman made his way to the ring accompanied by the lovely Woman, everyone in the arena rose to their feet. After seeing the Sandman successfully defend his title on TV time after time against a variety of opponents, the sellout crowd couldn’t wait to see their hero in person and they showed him and his lady their appreciation by giving them a long and loud standing ovation. You could tell by the smiles on their faces and the cockiness in their strut that the Sandman and Woman loved the ovation. When Raven appeared in view, his reception was met with a long and loud chorus of boos. The battle between these two was intense. At times it looked like Raven would win the title, but some how, some way, the Sandman always managed to survive. At the 15-minute mark Tommy Dreamer ran to the ring and joined the battle. Dreamer was slugging Raven who got the worst of it. When Dreamer finally left the ringside area, Sandman pinned Raven to win the bout.
[Cactus grabs a handful of Sabu’s hair. (Notice that lately Cactus has been wrestling with his teeth in.)
Too Cold Scorpio goes for an altitude record.]
This was followed by a tag team match involving Public Enemy and the Gangstas. The battle that ensued was intense. Chairs, tables, the bell and anything else they could grab was used during the match. To accurately describe the intensity exhibited by each time would be impossible as the match was brutal. In the end, Mustafa of the Gangstas pulled off the upset of the evening when he pinned Rocco Rock to win the match.
[Public Enemy says, “You should see the LOSERS!”
Cactus Jack and Mikey Whipwreck are championship tag team partners, much to Mikey’s dismay.]
The final match of the night pitted the feared Sabu against the wild and crazy Cactus Jack, and the referee for this battle was 911. Like all of the matches that preceded it, this was yet another classic. Sabu did all of his trademarked moves, while Cactus Jack was as wild as could be. Although the match ended in a double count out, no one was disappointed as both men used every move in their repertoire.
The first NECW New York card started at 8:00 p.m. and it continued non-stop without an intermission until 11:45. In this time, everyone was treated to a night of action, excitement and mayhem unlike any they had ever seen on the local scene. With the enthusiastic response of the first ECW card in the New York area, it is only a matter of time before ECW becomes a major force on the NY scene. Although right now the ECW stars may lack the fame of the WWF or WCW, with their moves, style, and never-say-die attitude, it's only a matter of time before the ECW competitors become as well known as their counterparts. When they do, ECW will become a major force on the wrestling scene. From their humble beginnings in Philadelphia, PA, in front of a small, hardcore enthusiastic audience the ECW has grown to the point where it is now ready to compete with the big boys. From the reception in the Big Apple, it’s obvious that ECW is ready to step into the limelight.
[Missy Hyatt and Stevie Richards hit it off at ringside. Is she using  Stevie to get to Raven?
Raven locks Sandman with the caning stick.
Tommy Dreamer is a bloody mess as he reacts to a low blow.]

guys what nerd do you think mutant mayhem donnie would be
and heres my reasoning for each option
Electrical engineer: Honestly idk I was thinking of Rise Donnie
Whatever 2012 Donnie’s deal is: As much I wanna punt the guy when he gets mushy over April he’s actually pretty smart. I havent seen 03 or 87 but I like how he covers a whole range of science fields but still struggles including alien Kraang tech. I’m not sure if past versions were like this but I’m assigning the “jack of all trades” to 2012 Donnie.
Biochem: the series looks very oozy and gross. The field would match the aesthetic a lot and Seth Rogan’s gross humor
Coding/Computer science: personal bias AND the credits scene where Donnie found the nerds. Also he could be chronically online
Generalized nerd: I guess a normal nerd like the Bay movies and the Batman crossover? Idk

It’s about time!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I finally did Muta’s redesign!
And I realized I’ve never shared his full backstory so here it is, under the cut, it’s pretty long XD:
In this universe, Ophelia not only is the Internet Dictator but she also is a mad scientist who developed a mutagen formula that works on humans
And she needed a test subject
Guess who
So whenever Ophelia wants to experiment on him, she sedates him in any way that works, it can be darts, drugs in his coffee, you name it
And when he wakes up, Pedro (Imma call him Muta okay, bear with me) has to live with whatever she did to him while he was out cold
She gave him an electric collar that acts as a tracker: if he tries to remove it, it zaps him; if he leaves a certain perimeter, it zaps him strongly enough to knock him out
Only Ophelia can remove the collar and she only removes it during her experiments
Muta is not allowed to leave the house except when the family sends him on a hit
The window of his room has electrified bars
He wags his tail when he's excited
And starts hissing when he gets too upset
Because he can't go outside, he picked up painting as a mean to calm down/let his feelings out
He also has a diary
Escape
Because Ophelia always uses the same anaesthetic, Muta's body had built up a resistance to it
So he woke up in the middle of an experiment before Ophelia could do anything
He broke his restraints and attacked her
She defended herself by stabbing him with a scalpel right over his ear
That made Muta go completely feral and he caused mayhem in the lab before escaping and passing out somewhere far away
After the escape
He woke up freaking out because of the memory loss, the mutations and the talking banana that just popped out of nowhere (he knew Pedro before all this, he just forgot about it)
Because he forgot everything, he rediscovers his mutations little by little
Blurry memories slowly came back to him over the course of the years, through flashbacks and nightmares
After remembering almost everything that happened, he decided to go on a revenge rampage —hence the game
Post game stuff
After killing Ophelia and the banana, Muta decides to leak all of her experiments logs online to show the world her real side
He doesn't leak her works though, as he is afraid that some people will use the mutagen formula for evil
In fact, he destroys the lab and the formula
But he secretly keeps one physical copy of the formula that he never talks about
Soon, pretty much the whole world knows about Ophelia's awful experiments on her own brother
Rumors start circulating about how said brother may have been the one who killed her and the rest of the family and leaked the logs
His favorite drink to relax is red fruits tea
After his escape, he still likes to paint, it helps him calm down (especially Bob Ross tutorials), but he also picked up cooking as a hobby
He posts pictures of his art and his dishes online without ever showing his body, and people keep begging him for a face reveal
He has a black sphynx cat!
He named her Josephine
He sometimes posts pictures of her too and people love her
Has an amazing singing voice???
He lives off assassination jobs
His therapist knows about him
Also the vets from the time where Josephine got hurt and he rushed to the vet clinic without thinking of covering himself up
And finally, the list of his powers/abilities:
Reptile-like eye (Night vision)
Retractable claws (his hands are much bigger than normal)
Prehensile tail (reptilian in appearance)
Focus
Gills (can breathe underwater) (located on his neck, but only appear when submerged)
Can regrow limbs/body parts like lizards/axolotls do, in minutes
Retractable bug wings (similar to a dragonfly's)
Thick bulletproof scales on his back
Hearing as good as a barn owl, if not better (tilts head when locating a sound)
Strong sense of smell (can smell blood like sharks)
Venomous fangs (Inland Taipan venom)
Forked tongue (like a snake's)
Extremely fast
Panther-like feet (he can walk around silently)
Extremely strong (can lift about 2 tons)
Thick bulletproof scales on forearms (similar to the one on his back)
Can stick to/crawl on any surfaces (walls, ceilings, etc.) like geckos
Immune to any type of toxic substance
Can stay upside down for an undefined period of time (like bats)
Second pair of eyelids to see underwater
Can regulate his body temperature
Woo, this boi has a very detailled backstory, huh

All about yokai: The Raijuu
When picking a yokai to feature in my stories, there are a few ways I go about it. For the raijuu it came via a legend, which in turn inspired the story The Cry of the Raijuu. The legend tells of the samurai Tachibana Dōsetsu who was sheltering under a tree during a storm. As lightning struck, he drew his sword to stop it, and once the smoke had cleared all that was left lay a dead raijuu. From then on he renamed his sword, Chidori, Raikiri which means “lightning cutter”. When I first read this, I loved it so much and wanted to write it badly. I didn’t want to go from the samurai’s perspective though, I wanted another view, of someone seeing such a great feat. And from this I needed to do a lot of research in both Tachibana Dōsetsu and the raijuu.
So how did I pick my raijuu? First I looked into the most basic information I could find about the lightning beast.
Raijū
雷獣 - らいじゅう
Translation: Thunder beast I chose the spelling raijuu over raiju or raijū for two reasons. Firstly I was unsure how many people would understand the ū sound, as it’s not used in English. In Japanese it’s in place of an uu (and similarly the ō is in place of ou). I could have gone with the simpler raiju, however I’d love if people could pronounce the name as close to the japanese way, so I chose the full version raijuu.
Next I had to pick what type of animal the raijuu was. It is an embodiment of lightning in an animal form, though they have been likened to wolves, dogs, tanuki, and many other animals including even crustaceans. Other sources spoke of a white and blue wolf or dog wrapped in lightning, with a cry sounding like thunder.
Tumblr media
The Raijū as depicted in Ban Kōkē's Kanda-Jihitsu. I also looked in one of my favourite books Yokai by Koichi Yumoto and found this picture too.
Tumblr media
From Kaiki Denshōzushi by Motoyama Keisen, as seen in the book Yokai.
Deeper research led me also to popular culture and how they approached the raijuu or raijuu inspired creatures and that made me think of two things from my childhood (and adulthood in case of pokemon!). The pokemon Raikou and the digimon Garurumon.
Tumblr media
Raikou’s design includes a purple cloud-like mane, and it’s an electric type.
Tumblr media
Garurumon is not electric but does have the white and blue wolf shape.
Taking inspiration from it all, I ended up with my raijuu, a white wolf wrapped in blue lightning with black metallic claws which runs along the sky. I decided it can manipulate lightning, run with it, and it is drawn to the metallic nature of the claws. I imagined it’s fur to be coarse and rough, because if it was soft, the static would send mess with the fur. Beneath a coarse layer of fur would be a fluffier layer for warmth, as being high in the sky must be cold. Overall I thought it would be similar to a husky.
For the raijuu’s behaviour, I looked at my research again. It spoke of raijuu leaping around when agitated and striking trees, or creating mayhem wherever they landed. This feared creature comes across as very temperamental and uncontrollable, which fits their master well, Raijin. Raijin, the god of thunder and lightning owns raijuu as pets, and is said to awaken them during thunderstorms.
This leads to a wonderful piece of information I found and desperately wanted to add into my story, but unfortunately I couldn’t do it. Japanese superstition talks of raijuu burrowing into humans’ belly buttons to sleep or hide. And when they are woken up by Raijin, they can hurt the person, so during storms you should sleep on your stomach and/or cover your belly button when you hear thunder.
These feared creatures were quite the mystery to Japanese people, and as they could easily cause much destruction, I made sure to try and convey all that during my story. It was also said that whenever lightning struck, it was believed that a raijuu had been sent by the gods to punish them for some reason.
My poor protagonist ended up with the short straw really, as he wasn’t being punished for anything, he really didn’t do anything wrong. However he battled each challenge well, and Inari was watching with very curious eyes. She isn’t done with him yet.
---
Want to read all about the raijuu? Meet them now in my story The Cry of the Raijuu.

The Muppets Mayhem Soundtrack / Dr. Teeth & The Electric Mayhem - S/T
Let me get this out of the way within the first sentence of this review -- I love the Muppets. I watched some Muppets stuff as a kid, and I always knew how much of a big deal they were, but I didn’t really get into the Muppets until their 2011 reboot / sequel film that starred Jason Segel and Amy Adams. The film is about bringing the Muppets back together after their studio is about to be demolished by an evil businessman, but most of them haven’t been in contact with each other for years after The Muppet Show ceased production in the late 90s and their well of successful films dried up in the 90s and early 00s. If anything, the film is an interesting look at nostalgia and moving forward, because the film appealed to new and old fans alike. I fell in love with that film, whether it was the mature and adult way they looked at nostalgia, the way they updated the classic characters but without sacrificing what made them great, or the songs that added a lot of brevity, fun, and heart to the movie. I spent the next few years diving into everything I could, especially the older films and The Muppet Show, but there was just something about the Muppets that drew me to them. I don’t know if it was the magic of how they make me feel like a kid again, but a lot of their jokes are clever enough for adults to understand (sometimes even adding another layer that you can understand more when you get older). They’re just the perfect kind of wholesome entertainment that is also slightly challenging in the sense that there’s more underneath the surface. Both kids and their parents can watch the Muppets and find different things to enjoy. For all of its successes, the 2011 film also ushered in a bit of a “revival” for the characters; they had a solid run for the next four years, whether it was a sequel film called Muppets Most Wanted (that wasn’t as good, but it was more akin to their zany and outlandish antics in a lot of the movies that they’ve done, and a bit more kid-friendly, all the while still having their trademark humor that adults can pick up o as well) in 2014, and a single season of an Office-style mockumentary show that aimed to take a slightly more “adult” angle on them, versus being extremely kid-friendly (it wasn’t raunchy or inappropriate, but the show was much more “grounded” for the lack of a better word). After that show was canceled after a single season, they faded away for awhile, only to come with a short-lived series in the form of 2020′s Muppets Now and 2021′s Muppets Haunted Mansion. The latest in this second or third revival, depending on how you look at their history, is the new TV show that focuses solely on The Muppet Show’s house band, Dr. Teeth & The Electric Mayhem, entitled The Muppets Mayhem. Released on May 10th, 2023, this show is all about the titular band and how they finally set out to record their debut album after touring nonstop for the last 50 years. Starring Lily Singh and Taj Mowry as the main two human characters, although there are a handful more, they are respectfully the assistant to the owner of a dying record label that The Electric Mayhem were signed to and a superfan of the group that end up crossing paths and helping the band out. What’s really cool about the show is that not only is the show released, but they also put out an actual Electric Mayhem album. The digital version includes some extra songs, and some of the score from the show, but if you buy the vinyl edition of the record, it has a different cover (that’s their album cover from the show), and it only has songs they performed on the show, so it’s almost like we got an actual album from the band. I wanted to talk about both the show and the music within, especially the album, because music is a big part of this show, whether it’s about the band, how every episode is titled after a song, and how almost every episode ends with the band performing a topical cover that helps the plot move forward. Music is a big part of the show, and first and foremost, that’s what shines here. I love the debut album from the Electric Mayhem. Unironically, this is a fantastic record that really showcases how prolific this band supposedly is in the world of The Muppets. It’s funny that this show came out a couple of months after the Amazon Prime show Daisy Jones & The Six, which is also about another fake band from the same era, but despite only listening to their album and not watching the show, it doesn’t feel like they would have been the biggest band in the world at the time. The Electric Mayhem, on the other hand, they do. There aren’t a lot of originals here, but the ones that appear, such as “Rock On,” “We Are One,” “Gotta Be,” and a couple of others, are great. They don’t necessarily sound super unique, at least from 1970s rock bands, but that’s the Mayhem’s charm. They have a very old school sound that reminds me a lot of different bands and artists, versus just one or two. The covers that are here are really good, too, and if you watch the show, you’ll hear a brief clip of them, only on the soundtrack / album, you hear them in full, such as KISS’ “Rock and Roll All Nite,” Cyndi Lauper’s “True Colors,” or one of my personal favorites, Simon & Garfunkel’s “Bridge Over Troubled Water.” When I listen to this record, I don’t think of this as the performers of the characters making this album, this is The Electric Mayhem. This is Dr. Teeth, Zoot, Janice, Lips, Floyd, and Animal. This is the band, and this is what they would sound like if they released an album. I can’t stop listening to this record, but it just feels like it’s a new record from a real band, and because it sounds like it’s from the 1970s, I really enjoy it. Every performance on here is top notch and really sucks you into the music. As for the show, I’ll keep it somewhat brief, because I’ve always said a lot about the music on it, but it’s a very enjoyable Muppets show that focuses on some lesser known characters that really deserve more time. The characters are all fleshed out more, especially Dr. Teeth (the episode where him and Floyd meet is my favorite of the show), Floyd, Janice, and even Animal to an extent, the jokes are sharp, as well as a great mixture of being kid-friendly and having some subtle more adult references (such as the episode where the band basically goes on an acid trip in the middle of Joshua Tree after eating expired marshmallows). The celebrity cameos are great, too, and they never feel forced, because they’re both super random and they’re very brief, as typical Muppet projects keep them. I won’t spoil the cameos on the show, especially from musicians that cameo, because a lot of them are surprising and fun, but it was always nice seeing random cameos. With that said, though, the human characters of the show leave a bit to be desired, although I did enjoy them as a whole. A lot of the story beats are quite predictable, but it’s fun enough to where you don’t really mind, especially when it involves Muppets. For instance, there’s a love triangle between a few human characters that doesn’t do much for me, and there’s a whole section that takes up a couple of episodes where the band discovers social media and they break up right before an important concert, only to get back together in the nick of time, which is such a cliche (at least a band breaking up before something important and getting back together right before), but only the Muppets can make it work. I had a lot of fun with this show, as well as with the soundtrack, and the thing about it is that neither of them feels complementary. You don’t need to listen to the soundtrack or the band’s album to understand the show, but you also don’t need to watch the show to understand the album. If you’re a Muppets fan, and you’ve always wanted to hear an Electric Mayhem record, you got one. The show does add context, of course, and you can hear full versions of the songs from the show, but you don’t need to watch or listen to both to get a good experience. You’ll also get some great jokes and satire of the music industry with the show, especially early on when they start writing the album, because the band feels the need to stay up to date with current trends in music. I don’t know if that will date this show, but luckily, the music is pretty straightforward “classic rock” in that vein. If you enjoy the Muppets, I’d watch this show. It won’t blow your mind necessarily, and it’s not quite an essential watch, but the creators of the show said they wanted to start a Muppets “universe” similar to the MCU, where they can focus on certain characters, and this was a great little experiment that did just that. I’d love to see more of these types of shows, possibly on Gonzo, Fozzie, Miss Piggy. Scooter, or other characters, regardless of how big or small. There’s a lot of potential to do more here, and this was a great first time out. I love the Muppets, and watching this show has gotten me back into them again for the first time in years, so it’s been incredibly exciting.

The volleyball team sigh in defeat much to their luck, the volleyball gymnasium flooded with a rooftop leak as well as electrical damage making it ultimately unsafe for students to enter. It wasn’t entirely the buildings fault it broke, in fact it’s a new building. But someone called YangYang from the football sport club decided to throw a ball in the gym without permission to enter, and break an important pipe with the flying kicking ball.
Volleyball captain, Lee Seul, has no choice but to share a gymnasium with the boy’s basketball team. Hence why the large gym is cut in half. People at first would think, hey that’s not so bad right? Two sports merging in friendly mannerism.
Oh it was far from friendly. Everyone on campus knows the tension between the two captains. No one utters a word as if it were forbidden.
Seul grunts heavily on the side the volley claimed, looking back at Yuqi. “Remind me, when I see Yangyang he is dead meat.” Seul threatens out as the rest of the volleyballer players continue to master and proper their serves as well as spikes in teams of two and fours.
The basketball team roughly push against each other to gather the ball in their hands, to the surprise it flings itself with high momentum. The basketball players missing it, therefore it rolled to the volleyball player side of the court gym. Sungchan slowly jogs to pick it up, but it happened to be near a foot already.
The boy stops midway, whistling to the girl. “Mind throwing the ball over?” Sungchan shouts across. Seul glances down to the basketball as she lifts it up, glaring at the taller boy she’s never met before. She scoffs putting it on the floor suddenly
Sungchan stares in confusion wondering what she’s about to do. Surely she could’ve just passed it with her hands?
Seul walks back two steps to get a power run-up, with the foot she lowly kicks it powerfully across the basketball as if it were a football. Sungchan wide eye, ducks as he saw the soaring ball ready to hit him in the face. The moment he ducks down avoiding such a hit from the ball, it would bounce off the gym brick wall.
He turns back watching the basketball land in their court but he pants, terrified yet full of anger because no one who would be normal would kick it with intention to kill him!
The boy looks back with glaring daggers sent to Seul who already was, sending him nasty looks. She walks away without saying anything, but the boy had no intention of doing that. He stands up about to shout across.
But a hand would cover his mouth as his friend, Mark, pulls him back from confronting the captain on the other side. “Shhh, not worth fighting her trust me.” Mark tells him quietly.
Sungchan pushes away, panting. “She almost killed me!” He exclaims. Mark runs the back of his head, “yeah well, you still don’t want to shout at her.”
The younger boy hovers about Mark due to their height difference of him being taller than the older. Sungchan pulled away to play in the game and focus. “Did you even hear me?” He groans annoyed.
“Come, I’ll make it up to you.”
The older succeeded into forcing the younger to forget the situation quickly, what did he do? He promised Sungchan that he would play a five on five basketball game and if he lost, he would pay for his after school snack. The bet fuels Sungchan’s blood with raw determination, rolling forward to win no matter what against his friend. Mark begins to feel like this was a mistake when the fast reflexes sped up causing the white board behind the gymnasium showing five point difference between them.
At the end, Sungchan and Mark enjoy themselves for training so hard, but there was still a loser and a winner.
The rest of volleyball and basketball teams have left, all expect Sungchan and Seul. The young girl would stay behind, fixing the ball nets as well as putting all the volleyballs in their individual shelves for tomorrows training.
Sungchan wasn’t aware, but he was staring at Lee Seul openly, glaring at her. He was holding a fee grudge for earlier, in fact it was curling him more to confront her. Seul sighs, turning to Sungchan as she felt his desperate stared.
Seul glaring. “Okay spit it out. You’ve been staring at me all.” She spits, approaching the tall 6ft3 boy. Sungchan scoffing, eyes lowering down to her height. “Why are you so rude? You don’t pack much.” He observed the girl from head to two;
The lips drop, where she hissed. “What?” Sungchan shrugs openly. “I mean,” his hand moves up and down motioning down the body. “You’re pretty short to be picking a fight with me now that i notice. Why are you so angry at Me? If I clarify, we met today for the first time.”
“You almost killed me.” He paused and Seul rolls her eyes. She pushes a ball by her heel, kicking the volley in the air and catching it. “So dramatic. I gave you back the ball, like you asked.” She responds.
“No, you THREW the ball at me, not gave it.” Sungchan quickly cuts her off, following the girl side by side. Seul turns to the ball placing it on the last empty shelf. “what’s the difference?” Seul remarks, uninterested and unbothered with no guilt or sadness sympathy for Sungchan.
I mean why would she care for a basketball player. Sungchan sighs frustration in the tone. “This is like talking to a damn wall.”
Seul smirks as she sees Sungchan deeply effected. Why was he so riled up? She pauses, pushing a hand in his chest, with a ball in it. The basketball staying still on the boy’s chest.
“Go cry about it.” Seul sassily remarks, dropping the basketball in his hands and then walking out the gymnasium. He stands still, biting the bottom lip with a glare, turning around he cusses. “What a bitch.” He rubs the back of his head.
“Hey Sungchan,” Winwin props behind the taller, the older boy tapping a hand on the shoulder. Sungchan, Mark and Jaehyun sitting down on their cafeteria table. This was their usual spot when the girls weren’t around.
Winwin grins openly. “Boys, I have news. Guess what?” Mark and Jaehyun give similar glances up at Win, humming. “You got Yuqi knocked up?” Sungchan blurts out half joking.
Winwin scowls hitting Sungchan’s head from behind, sighing. “No! And I told you she had a pregnancy scare because of her late period.” He tells lowly. Winwin shifts taking a seat next to Sungchan.
“I mean it could’ve been possible geez.” Sungchan shrugs. Mark points out, sipping openly water from the clear water bottle case. “Is it a party?”
Jaehyun smirks when Winwin nods happily. “Ding ding ding, you are correct. There will be a frat party.” “Who’s party is it?” Jaehyun joining in the convo.
The four boys stay still as they saw their eyes land on a boy approaching their table with two girls side by side from the cheerleaders team. The guy wore a captain basketball bomber jacket, it was a campus jacket that shows his section of power and authority over the basketball team.
“It’s my party. Everyone’s welcome.” Minho brags forward, tightly holding the waists of his groupie girls he tends to get left and right. Mark lowly eyes him up and down and nods. “Ight, we’ll see you there then.”
Minho nods, his eyes moving from the group of guys at the table and now to the girl walking in the distance past the other cafeteria tables. It was Lee Seul. Sungchan turns around watching the same girl with curiosity, he turn to look back at Minho. The expression screams dark and twisted. But the boy moves back to his long crowded table behind.
Sungchan murmurs. “I don’t know why I get bad feelings about him.” The younger boy grunts, flipping open the sweat packets of jellybeans. Jaehyun laughs out. “You get bad feels about everything and literally everyone.”
Winwin nods in agreement. “Why do you dislike the captain?” Sungchan scorns. “I mean look at him, he was totally bragging about this giant party he is hosting tonight.”
Mark shrugs. “I mean it’s his party plus he wants people to come, what else is he meant to do? Tell us not to go?” Sungchan scowls facing Mark.
“Maybe I dunno. What’s the deal with him and Miss Moody.” The younger boy would ask openly. “Who?” The three boys in unison question.
Sungchan looks over at the volleyball table with the captain facing her back to the rest of the people in the room. “The volleyball captain.” He trails.
“Ohhh,” Winwin let’s out. The boy would be interrupted by a hyper-active golden retriever girl with ginger curly hair, large brown eyes and thick eyelashes sit down next to Winwin with arms wrapped round the Chinese boy. She whispers a soft Hi. Winwin’s face lighting up.
“Hey baby,” Winwin sways lovingly, watching Yuqi, his beloved girlfriend. Sungchan felt so single just by their glance. On the other hand, one girlfriend came— two others came immediately.
Jaehyun was met with Han Byeol taking a seat quietly next to the boy. These two stare at each other with identical soft smiles, their hands interlocking underneath the table. These two carried their own conversations, in their own world.
Mark on the other hand was helping his girlfriend Vivian— aka the school’s student council, with the books she has carried. He would gently help the pile sit on the desk. Vivian thanking him, Mark giggling in awe because he is simply so in love with her.
The younger boy stands still in this lovey-dovey esk, sighing. “Forget I asked.” Sungchan finally speaks. Winwin brought back his attention. “Oh right, yeah. Minho and Lee Seul dated.” He responds.
Yuqi tips her head. “Why are you asking about that?” Sungchan shrugs. “Curiosity merely. The captains seem to have tension so I’m wondering.”
Vivian slowly joins in, having Mark’s head resting onto the left shoulder of hers. She softly plays and twiddles with the hair strands in between the fingers. “Yeah they broke up and now they’re kinda ehh with each other.”
Byeol and Yuqi nod. “I think they broke up because he cheated on her.” Byeol responds. Sungchan frowns. “I feel slightly bad for her now.”
“Why, Didn’t you say she almost killed you this morning.” Mark laughs watching Sungchan teasingly. The younger boy shushing. “Shut up, I’m still pissed as fuck at that.”
“Well i hope you let go off that unnecessarily built up anger, because we are all going to that party tonight.” Winwin said, with a smirk. Sungchan scoffing. “It’ll be a lame party but alright.”
“Don’t be such a negative energy and say something positive once in a while.” Mark throws at the taller boy, Sungchan sarcastically responding back. “Like what, a prayer to god?”
Mark sighs. “Not funny Dude.”
Vivian looks at Sungchan with a half threatening glare, she sees the younger boy’s Adam’s Apple gulp heavily as he looks away. “Ah, sorry I take it back. You’re right, I’ll be positive about this situation.” He said to him. Mark looks back at Vivian, he saw her looking down at her book. He wonders what scared Sungchan so much?
Maybe thinking good things will attract good things in Sungchan’s life. Right?
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Tonight came quickly, the boys arrived with their girlfriends (all expect Sungchan, who is a massive single Pringle.) Mark and Vivian were the first to enter and separate from the group, the two came quickly over to a quieter place.
Winwin and Yuqi left to chit chat with some other group of people from their other uni-classes. Byeol and Jaehyun glance at Sungchan, who stares back with a shrug. “So what, no more lovey dovey moments?” Sungchan teases.
The boy wasn’t moving away from his friends, that would be why the couple were slightly awkward and silent. Sungchan just had no one to speak to. He hates half of these people, plus— He doesn’t really wanna hang around Vivian and Mark who are most likely making out. Yuqi and Winwin are tipsy as hell so he’d avoid taking care of drunken friends.
Byeol pushes out. “Why won’t you I dunno, get a drink over there or something? Give us a moment alone.” Jaehyun chuckles, pulling Byeol close to his chest. “Calm down babe, let’s go upstairs?” He’d whisper.
Sungchan fakely gags out vomiting noises, avoiding the eye contact with his friend and his girlfriend. “Get a room if you’re going to fuck.” He spat, finally walking away. Byeol smirks pulling Jaehyun by a tug to the shirt, the couple heading upstairs.
Now, the boy was alone. He sighs in the kitchen pushing through dancing campus students. He pauses in middle of the large spacious kitchen, as he sees a passed out student from alcohol. He scoffs, mockingly. “If you’re going to sleep get a freaking bed, god.” Sungchan tells the unconscious boy.
He made his way to the fridge, opening it as he got out a fresh bottle of orange juice. Sungchan sipping from the carton box.
“Seriously, orange juice at a frat party?”
A voice diagonally pulls Sungchan to physically turn around, facing a familiar girl, wearing denim blue washed style shorts and a white tank top with the hair tied in a ponytail. She holds a beer can in one hand as the other was freely loose.
He squints forward a glare, pushing away and sinking Away when the girl casually sits on the counter next to him. Seul smirking as she saw Sungchan avoid her completely.
“Oh wow, playing hot and cold now are ya?” Seul states bluntly. Sungchan crossing arms, pushing the orange juice down. “Not at all.” He blandly puts out.
The loud irritating music would be lightly pouncing by the walls but nevertheless it was quieter here than any other place. The boy felt pretty much alright in this part of the mansion like house. It was just him and the girl he truly hates already, despite meeting her once.
He notices that Seul is more than tipsy, but somehow she was able to think and react still; a good sign that she wasn’t completely lost in the alcohol. The young girl sitting on the kitchen counter with swaying feet, she pulls a mischievous glint in her eyes, a curve-like bear smile that screams to Sungchan trouble.
Seul was the bane of his existence, he could tell. She annoys him, she almost killed him, she’s rude—ill mannered and self entitled. So why was he feeling so interested in her too? What pulls him towards someone like her?
Was it because she was attractive? Sungchan will have to admit, she was smoking hot. But that darn tempered personality of hers was a quick turn off.
Seul giggles suddenly, broke the silence. She couldn’t help but laugh now. Sungchan raises an eyebrow at her, questioningly. “What are you laughing at?”
“Sorry, I tried to hold it in. You’re just so serious. Do you hate me that much?” Seul chuckles, holding the stomach area. She was laughing her soul out. Sungchan rolls eyes. “Yes, I actually do.”
She gives him a fake pout, teasingly leaning forward but staying seated on the counter. “Awh, how romantic.” She states.
“I was hoping you’d be down-bad in love with me.” Seul sarcastically points out, rolling eyes back with hand motions. He grossly puts his lips in a thin line. “You’re delusional and drunk. Not the best combo.” She hears the boy tell.
“Actually, why are you speaking casually with me? I’m two years older than you. How rude.” She remarks back, arguing the fact that she has no respect from the younger boy. Sungchan coldly shrugs. “Because you nearly killed me.”
“You’re so darn dramatic Y’know. Speak with honourifics.” Seul urges. Sungchan shaking his head. “No, I don’t call people I hate with respect.”
Seul sighs, she reaches forward grabbing the thin- t shirt fabric by the fingers, Sungchan felt a strong force pull him to her. She drunkly stares at him with a endearing smile when seeing the flustered expression. The cheeks lightly heat up and his body tense, all muscle contracting just by one action from her. The power she feels surging in her own body.
The boy began to feel trapped in between her legs, despite Seul was sitting on the edge of the counter, the boy felt perfectly in between those dangling legs side by side.
She runs her thumb and acrylic nail down the face caressing it. “Y’know, you’re actually cute up close. You’re tall too.” She lists, with a short smile. Sungchan’s lips tremble, he tries to find the words but nothing came out.
Seul saw him trying to speak, yet nothing was heard. She hums teasingly . “Call me noona. Come on, we got off on the wrong foot today.” Seul slurs playfully. The younger boy stands still like a broom stick in the corner of an empty house; his eyes lighting up ever so slowly when the beautiful girl smiles watching him.
It was a soft affectionate smile. Sungchan wants to look away, but his body differs not wanting to do so— he continues staring into those alive doe-ish eyes. “Is this your way of apologising?” He asks. “If that’s what you want it to be, then yes. It is an apology.”
Sungchan thinly swallows. “Okay, apology accepted.” He pauses, why was it so embarrassing to call her older when she looks so young. He gulps down the anxious pit in the stomach. Seul’s smug expression wasn’t helping the situation he was feeling in. “Noona.” He finished his sentence with the final word.
She coos cutely. “See wasn’t that hard was it?” Seul tells. “Yes Sungchan-ah?”
The boy quietly speaks, for no apparent reason. Seul was as dominating as she was on the court in games. The presence of the girl made him sidereal shudder— but he became addicted to it quickly.
Like a poison activating in his system, he felt himself fall in deeper. Seul knew this. “Are you drunk?” Sungchan mentions, pointing at the beer can. “How much did you drink?”
Seul hums thinking, counting in the lousy brain. “Three beer cans and two shots.” Sungchan tucks the beer can away, shaking his head. “You’re drunk then.”
“How about you? Did you even drink at all.” Seul giggles watching Sungchan, he was really adorable up close. The taller shakes his head. “Nah, I’m good.” He mentions. Seul tilts her head. “You’d rather stick to your baby stuff like orange juice, right?”
Sungchan purse his lips in a thin line. “Do you always baby people younger than you?” He throws, half annoyed. Seul half laughs-half speaks. “Hmm, no, just you.”
He glares, his eyes forming annoyance in the pupils. “Well I don’t like it, don’t do that.” Seul let’s out a soft ‘huh’.
“I can’t help it when you look cute. Plus I’m drunk as hell so that isn’t helping.” The girl pouts. Sungchan pulls away, sighing. He didn’t realise that she no longer held him trapped in between her body. Seul saw the annoyed expression on the boy, watching him walk out. She’d slide off the kitchen counter, following the taller boy.
Sungchan begins to ignore the older girl following him behind like a trailing duckling. He joins a small group, finding a girl in the corner. Before he makes his way to the random girl he find alone, he grabs a can on beer where he drinks a large sip.
He then makes his way to the girl laying low by herself. Maybe then he could get laid and stuff, have some fun at a frat party right?
Seul would stay on the other side of the wall, watching Sungchan and the dark haired female student speak and laugh amongst each other. She eyes them with slight glare, sighing she grabs another beer can.
How lame, she wanted Sungchan for tonight. The girl wasn’t left alone, until Minho came over. Seul glances up at the taller male with a disgusted expression. He reeks of weed and alcohol, furthermore his intentions were sinful.
“Hey, Seul.” Minho hawks, putting a hand on the wall beside the girl. He blocks the view of Sungchan and the girl from Seul’s eyes. His bulky body towering above the girl. “Leave me alone, Minho.” Seul shot quickly.
He tuts condescendingly. “That’s now very nice, Seul.” He says, brushing forward his hand to feel her left face. Seul was quick to slap and reject the hand gesture, glaring into the man’s eyes uninterested.
“What do you want?” She darkly states. Minho smirking, down at her. “I want to have some fun. Just like old times don’t you think? How about you join me upstairs..”
He slowly pauses leaning down inches away from Seul. “Upstairs, on my bed. Y’know how the gist goes.”
“Not interested in having sex with someone like you.” Seul bluntly told. Minho sighing. “Don’t lie.”
“She wasn’t lying.”
The voice behind Minho spoke, catching both attentions. Seul wasn’t aware of who said it until Minho’s bulkhead moves out of the way, where he is turning around to face the taller boy. Sungchan.
Sungchan quickly holds out a hand for Seul to take, the girl never hesitating— she was quick to accept the hand and interlock it with his. He glared at Minho, Coming forward.
Minho laughs in disbelief. “Seriously that’s the guy you want to get laid with? Over me? You choose him over me, Lee Seul?” He shouts. Sungchan grins out the situation. “Of course she did.” He jeers out forward, pushing a hand in Minho’s chest twice.
He was able to forcefully push the older boy backwards twice against a wall. Sungchan threateningly whispering. “I’m not the one who cheated on her. At least I can treat her right.” Sungchan growls, walking away when Minho would stare blankly in silence.
Seul felt her body being dragged out of the house, Sungchan pulling the girl outside the mansion where the two were pushed into a car. It was his car; however he had the keys without losing them like he usually does— because he for once is the sober one out of the group. The girl fell in the silence with the boy who stays still.
She clenched the hands together looking at the boy. “Yah,” she calls out.
Sungchan hums out softly, turning around to face the girl in the passenger seat. Seul nodding a soft thank you with her quiet voice. The boy gently smiled. “Don’t worry about it, anyone would’ve helped.”
“You’re the first one to ever help me.” Seul honestly said, with her lips pucker inward. It was painful to admit, but no one once defended her to help; but he did. This boy she hated few hours ago, has helped.
He scoffs. “Then they were horrible for not helping.” Sungchan respond quickly, in disappointment at the fact that people wouldn’t of done what he would do for anyone in the same situation.
The two stare in each other’s eyes, finding comfort in each other’s presence and body language. Sungchan wasn’t sure if this silence was terrible or beautiful, because he was this unaware that they were both as quiet as moths. The boy leaning closer, murmuring;
“Listen— I didn’t mean to make him think you were going to sleep with me—” Sungchan felt Seul move closer, two hands cupping the underneath jawline, pulling the boy by a soft tilt on the right, lapping his lips onto hers. Their warmth increasing ten folds as their mouths slip in.
Seul pulls away, taking a glimpse of his reaction. The boy with pinkish cheeks on top of his dove-fair skin, trembling dimming eyes, he was quick to pull back in. He reconnects lips again with hers, Seul in surprise standing still, soon returning the makeout.
The boy felt the urge to move, therefore he shifts to the back. Seul follows along, the two students not breaking out their makeout of enjoyment. Every slip of emotions filling in it.
Faces smearing on to each other as if it were a war between them to continue kissing so hastily.
Sungchan breaks apart, those wet lips falling in the middle area, him tracing soaking kisses on the clear dry skin, neckline and necktie. Seul wrapping hands round the nape, straddling the boy.
He groans, hissing as he pushes himself to kiss Seul once again. “God, we only met today but you’re making me feel so many things.”
Seul lowly laughs. “Like what? Hatred?.” She playfully leans forward, grinding her lips on his again. “Partly hatred. The other half…not so much.”” The boy warily adds, mischievous smirk haunting Seul. The body tensing to the sudden friction between their lower bodies, his eyes closing.
Then a knock was made on the car window, Seul screaming and Sungchan holding Seul in panic. He hit his head on the car roof, in shock. The two were met with the window rolling down.
Sungchan rolls down the window, he meets the basketball player Sungwoo alone. “Sungwoo. What you want?” The younger boy drunkly giggles. “Do you know where the party is?”
Seul half scoffs at how drunk the boy must be, considering the house party is right in front of him- the house wasn’t exactly hard to miss either because it is quite a rich mansion. Sungchan sighs, disbelief. Perfect timing too, only for it to be ruined.
“Dude it’s right in front of you, look.” Sungchan points and Sungwoo wows loudly gasping. “Oh! You’re right! Thanks, cya around captain and Sungchan.” He waves walking to the front doors.
Seul watching Sungwoo with an ill-glaring eye. Sungchan laughs watching the dangerous expression, where he pulls Seul to look at him. “Do you have to look so mean at every basketball player Hm?” He tells, leisurely ghosting over her lips.
She hums softly, enjoying the pull Sungchan has over her right now. “I hate them all.” Seul quotes, smirking. Sungchan can’t help but smirk back, as he pressed his lips on to hers once again— this time speaking midway the heavy kiss. “Hmm, that’s hard to believe right now, sweetheart .”
Irony. She’s making out with a basketball player after her long term basketball player previously cheated on her, now she has this grudge against every player in the basketball team. But yet here she is, making out with one of em.
She’ll regret it tomorrow. It’s the alcohol. It must be. Sungchan on the other hand, was enjoying himself to the max considering he weren’t drunk; he was sober, aware of the actions. The only thing he was drunk on was the taste of Lee Seul on his lips. Sungchan didn’t realise it, but he became infatuated with Seul. He was falling for her even more.

“You what!” Mark yells in middle of the university corridor, the voice echoing. Sungchan stares down at Mark with a warning look, he told him to be quiet about this. The students surrounding them, walking to classes and out of classes have glanced at the two boys, before walking away.
Sungchan hisses warning. “What part of be quiet when I tell you this, don’t you get?” The younger boy pulls his hand away, off the flannel collar. Mark fixes the loose one strap bag on the shoulder, looking around, he turns to Sungchan to look at him once again. “Sorry man, but seriously— you kissed with the volleyball captain? Are you deranged?”
The guy shrugs, loosely. To be honest, Sungchan doesn’t get what the big deal was? Seul and Sungchan have both agreed to spending the night together. However when he woke up in the morning, she was gone in a heartbeat— gone without a trace. He would’ve lied if he said he wasn’t disappointed, because he was massively disappointed.
Mark on the other hand knows exactly why this was a problem. People chat rumours, as well as Minho; their basketball team captain wasn’t happy with Sungchan because of what happened at the party. This makes Sungchan and Seul look bad, especially Sungchan. He slept with someone that used to have a thing with Minho.
And Minho has everyone’s attentions and support with ease. Man is popular left and right. The older just knew this could go badly either way. Mark was merely looking out for Sungchan.
“I don’t see the problem here honestly. Anyways, I feel slightly bummed out.” Sungchan spoke changing the sudden subject, Mark thought. “Why, what’s wrong now?” He retracts. “She ran off in the morning before I woke up, what does that mean?”
Never mind, he didn’t change the subject. Mark thought wrong. The guy exhales. “Honestly not a good sign, she probably wants it to be an one time thing.”
“But I don’t want it to be an one time thing.” Sungchan quickly cut off, sighing. “I’m not like Minho.” Mark glances up from the lockers, closing it. He gave him the ‘Are you for real?’ Look. Sungchan shrugs, “what, it’s true. I’d never cheat.”
“Yeah but Minho wasn’t a fling like you were.” Mark points out, walking away. Sungchan leans off the pockets and hallway wall, no longer slanting on it. The lean tall boy following Mark from behind to catch up to him. “No need to be so harsh. What if I want something more with her?”
He’d shrug. “Like a relationship? Hate to break it to you, but Lee Seul and you were fighting on the wrong foot yesterday and then at a party ended up kissing. To me it looks like she’ll be avoiding you or…”
“Or, she’ll flat out reject you.” Mark mentions. “Anyways, I’m off. I’ll see you at lunch.” He sways, heading towards class.
The younger grumbles, muttering under breath the insults pin pointing to Mark. Seriously why was he asking him for relationship advice anyways? “Why did I think asking Mark Hyung out of all people for relationship advice was the best idea?”
“Vivian refused to tell her name to him for days, gosh. I should ask Jaehyun.” Sungchan whispers, turning the left as he walks away.
Biology class. Oh how badly Seul wishes she could fall asleep, drift into day-dream land where she won’t have to listen Mr Kim speak about mitosis and Miosis, as well as stupid diffusion particles and what happens to them when it phrases through walls.
It was boring, that’s all. Seul fought the urge to stay awake, looking around until something in the lonely bland classroom catches her attention for more than two seconds. It didn’t take long for the young girl to have her attention swept off her feet.
But it was something she wouldn’t want to associate with at all. The sight of a tall lean figure walking in the class, scolded by the teacher before he were told to sit down in the seat diagonally behind Lee Seul. She tenses up, avoiding eyes when he looks back at hers.
With a smirk on his face too, she felt her fists clench. This was unnecessarily awkward. For once, she regrets being drunk.
“Okay class, since Mr Sungchan decided to join us together, get into groups of two.” Mr Kim instructs, going over to focus on the practice experiment. Seul looks about to the empty side, that crawls a long boy next to her.
Sungchan hovering at her with a wave in his hand. “You don’t have a partner it seems.” He trails softly, Seul humming bluntly. “Thanks for stating the obvious, mr know-it-all.”
The boy stands still, off guard by the sudden attitude he heard yesterday morning; completely different from the sweet nothings shared last night. Sungchan looks around, eyes rolling as he knows exactly how this is going to go. He turns to look at Seul. “Okay, I’ll be straight up with you.” Sungchan starts.
“What happened last night—” The boy felt his voice lower down, cut off like a stake through his heart. “Was a mistake. It was a mistake, Sungchan.” Seul reprimands, with no remorse or guilt, speaking with full brute’s power cutting the boy’s last hopes.
Hopes of possibly getting to know her more than being a mere fling of a kiss or an enemy. Seul foresees Sungchan’s faltering expression; going from light up brown eyes sparkling, curving dashing smile and round ears perking upwards with curiosity. Those traits fading, with the eyes exploding to ashes, nostrils flaring shutting down and the feeling of his heart beating skipping to run away from this.
He’d alter his voice, softly speaking with light breathes coming off. He was confused, she can hear it in his voice. “Is that what you feel, that what happened between us was a mistake?” Sungchan begins, looking straight into the girl’s apathetic eyes.
Seul harshly croaks out, in disbelief and shock. “Of course it is. If it wasn’t— what else could it be? Don’t tell me that you actually thought I felt something for you.”
Clenching the jaw, Sungchan looks on the side downwards, viewing the ground by his feet and ankles before those darkened down lifting pupils face Seul with fullest-hatred. He goes forward, making two steps at Lee Seul who stood in front of him. He’d wrap his hands around the white shirt collar, pulling the girl forward roughly. Those fingers gripping their sole life on the fabric.
His voice, penetrating Seul’s ears from the right in through the left ear and out, like a chemical inflaming her senses to heighten. Something of this situation, became bigger than expected. “No need for the low insults, Lee Seul, it doesn’t hurt me one bit.”
He scorns the girl’s ego. “Listen here. I’m not someone who kisses someone just because of the thrill of it. I genuinely kissed you, because I thought there was something there. I’ve done it because I felt something for you, other than hatred that day.”
“So therefore, go ahead and shame me for feeling something for a minute. It seems to me that even though I was sober, I still couldn’t tell if you were into me.” He slowly let’s go, unwrapping hands from the upper clothes where Seul was pushed back a little. The girl goes back one step.
She thickly gulps, avoiding his eyes now. The sudden confession made her feel many emotions, many that she didn’t think she’d feel ever. Seul turns to the class practical experiment on the desk, awkwardly going back into the work.
Sungchan on the other hand, walks away when he saw Seul say nothing else back to him. No smart comments or comebacks, nothing. It was silence. The boy wasn’t sure if he preferred if Seul said something rather than hearing nothing, because at least if she spoke to him back, he’d get some sort of clarity to the situation. But no, silence.
The unbearable tension stuck through out the lesson, until every student was dismissed for other classes to separate. Though, these two were apart why did the tension and heartbreaking feels following them around everywhere they went and whoever they went with?
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Mark and Winwin meet outside after their weekly basketball game session, the upcoming game of the season is around the corner and someone vital to their game has been slacking off school.
Jaehyun jogs behind with the loose jersey, wiping his forehead sweat on it. “Where the heck is Sungchan at?” He exclaims, with light annoyance in his tone.
The boy replies bluntly and unhappy, Winwin sighs. “He’s at home sulking and being heartbroken.” Mark tilts his head. “Why do I feel responsible for that.”
He lightly thinks under his breath. The two boys turn towards the Canadian boy, tilting their heads in unison. “What did you say?”
Mark looks at them with hands in the air, surrendering. “Oh nothing! I said we should find a way to get Sungchan out of his heartbroken phase. He starts to remind me of an emotional fourteen year old getting his first breakup man.”
The three agree but it’s rather a matter of question how they will be able to come up with a plan to make Sungchan practice for the game, because without him their defence and offence positions are weakened— as well as Sungchan missing practices will lead to him being kicked out of the sports club. His grades are ultimately in line. Athletes cannot perform if their grades are failing.
Then a shining star fell in the distance, not literally, but similarly. The volleyball captain, Lee Seul. She was an ill mannered unapologetic abomination not to be messed with, but she was such a blessing in these three basketball player’s sight.
It did not take long for her to be cornered by these three students. Seul looking at them with questionable judgemental eyes, wondering why they are so desperate looking . The sporty sweat engulfs her nostrils as well,
“Argh man, can’t you take a shower?” Seul spat, blocking the soft button pinch of her nose to block out the horrendous odour. Jaehyun mutters quick. “Sorry but this is an emergency!”
“Hear us out.” Mark pleads. Winwin next to them forms praying hands, as his puppy eyes direct at Seul. The girl looks at them, she murmurs. “Why are y’all acting so weird? This is, terrifying.”
These boys take a glance at each other, slowly turning to the young girl, whose neat thing brown fringe rests directly at the eyebrows symmetrically, long magenta dyed hair spit at the back, laying on the shoulders right down the chest aligned by the white crop top and light pink sweatpants; today was a defining casual day at uni it seems.
“It’s about Sungchan.” Mark begins, but that is when the girl’s expression decreases and was simply no longer willing to listen. It was as if that name triggers hidden emotions deep within Seul that she has buried: guilt, trust issues, hurt and sadness. There is a piece of cherry called regret on top of those overwhelming emotions too. “Not interested.” Seul coldly told, beginning to walk away.
Jaehyun , Mark and Winwin start to follow, tagging alongside by Seul. The older boy, Winwin, was quick to block the pathway stopping Seul on the tracks. Mark and Jaehyun softly panting.
“Please, he’s not coming to classes!” Mark shouts. Seul clenches her jaw, annoyed. She pushes by Winwin, but the man was more than stubborn to stand his ground. “Seriously, why is that my problem?” Seul stops struggling and turns around, watching Mark.
He gulps lightly. “He won’t listen to us. But he will listen to you.”
“How are you so sure?” She’d raise her eyes, in annoyance. How could Sungchan listen to her after she quietly ripped his heart out by her cold hearted rejection.
“He likes you. A lot.” Jaehyun steps in, cooly tucks in hands in the front basketball shorts. “We have an upcoming game round the corner, we wouldn’t of asked if it wasn’t important. He can’t miss anymore practice.”
“I’m sure you know how important games are to any sports member. He will listen to you, captain.” Hearing those words slowly penetrate Seul’s heart, the heart that has slowly been infected by these previous emotions she’s hidden, but touched by these three determined friends. The young girl looks away sighing, looking by the time on the phone screen.
“Okay tell me the address, only because you have such an incompetent selfish player who isn’t willing to come to practice. I’ll bring him to you.”
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
As he looks in the room, it stares back at him, with a very horrified look on how filthy it looks. Empty crisp packets, computer and pc on and live with a low volume video playing on the electronic screen— crumble wrinkly bed, curtains closed shut exiling any sunlight to enter the room as if it were a forbidden rule.
There he is slowly plodding through the room with furnace of a potent smell, feet were suddenly seeking in the abomination of cloths. It was to messy for him to believe.
Though who could blame Sungchan? He was far too heartbroken and caught up in his brain, that his energy was sucked out of the body, heart ached everything was an overwhelming mess and he would rather isolate himself till he can get over the repeated words that haunt him.
Bringing the depressive boy into reality, a door bell caught inner ears attention. He slowly approaches with cautious, pondering aloud who it could be ringing him this late in the evening.
“Surely it can’t be Winwin hyung right?” Sungchan trails softly, unlocking the door as he peeks in. To the most world shocking news, a familiar girl stands in front with a heavy plastic white bag and in casual clothes from uni she wore. Seul looks Sungchan up and down, the boy was shirtless with black loose sweat shorts, his hair in fluffy bed manner and the abs out free as a bird flying in the sky.
“What are you doing here?” Sungchan let’s out coldly. Seul sighs. “Let’s talk.”
“Uh how about no.” The boy closes the door, scoffing but then a hello- kitty themed chunky trainers put themselves at the edge of the doorframe and the actual door, stopping him from locking it fully shut. “I have drinks?” Seul curls with a light smirk, she’d sneak her thin arms in through the small creek open door, wiggling the plastic bag with heavy cans cluttering . Sungchan glares at the bag.
Awaiting an answer from the long pause, Seul was met with the door widely opening. She slowly goes inside the apartment, with Sungchan closing the door shut and locking it but later,
The girl takes off the heavy platform shoes, roaming to the couch area. She puts the bag down whistling. Sungchan begins to join her by the far left of the couch far away, taking a cold can in his hands.
Seul looks at the v bare shape back, clean abs and slender-like body, she clears her throat when realising she might be staring a bit too long to the point she was checking him out. The boy said nothing, but took a large sip from the can.
Sungchan felt her stares, speaking with caution and slight annoyance, though he didn’t spare to look at her. “Why are you here.”
“Well, you have an upcoming game in a few days but you’ve been missing practice so. I’m here to tell you to go back.”
He scoffs hearing this, shaking his head as he puts down the can on the desk. “It’s none of your business really, since when does a volleyball captain who hates basketball players with passion care if one skips?”
He was right, Seul wasn’t exactly the most convincing person right now, she isn’t one to get involved. Seul deeply sighs, the hatred looking expression haunting her once again with those undying emotions inside.
“I guess I felt sorry.” Her lips utter quietly. “I guess, I felt horrible at what I said to you.” Seul adds, watching Sungchan’s expression soften hearing this confession out of nowhere. The brain took a large amount of minutes to process such a deep truthful and genuine sorry; because Seul does not apologise.
“What..?”
“You heard me. I’m sorry for being horrible to you and I’m sorry for lying to you.” The captain spat, tears shaking in the glossy Iris pupils. “I lied about how I felt for you.”
“I actually felt so scared for feeling safe and happiness with you that night. It frightened me because…it was a long time I felt genuine emotions like that again. I ran off like a coward, rejecting you.”
“You must think I’m a complete bitch, but I have reasons. It’s not an excuse but I have a reason for these trust issues. I’m sorry again.” Seul looks down at the fiddling thumbs, gulping the nervous lump in the throat. Sungchan takes turns looking at Seul’s face and then to her hands, somehow, his body moves on its own freedom.
His hands slowly holding hers. He gently faced her, with a short smile. “Noona, thank you for telling me this.” The fantasy from his brain has manifested, the words he needed to hear fought off the depression he’s felt for days now with common ease. There was nothing better than hearing a apology and confession in one.
Seul sniffles staring into his eyes as they slowly fall down to the lips, she leans in as her heavy breath hits the surface of those plum lips perking at the edge.
“Please, come to practice.” Seul whispers. Sungchan lightly smiles looking down. “I dunno, maybe it’s too late for me now.” sadness lingers in his voice.
She shakes her head. The captain sitting up on the couch as her hands wrap round, cupping Sungchan’s face gently as she pulls him closer and closer. “Don’t give up, you can still catch up with your team.” Seul shouts, encouragingly.
“Because I think you’re a game worth watching.”
Irony. Seul would of never believed a basketball player has got her hooked onto feelings in just over one day meeting him, call it love at first sight, or perhaps an instant attraction; whatever it was. It was love and it was genuine. Nothing like her ex, she can finally start to heal and Sungchan would be able to find the motivation for his obsess hobby: basketball. In the end, these feelings are like a key and a lock, they are made to happen and grow only if put the effort in to make an action and effort to it.
There was something bewitching Sungchan because the boy fell in deep hearing such strong feelings in those words, he was drunk on hearing more and more from the girl holding his face so tight to make him forcefully look at her. The gap between their faces was barely open, as their lips only came closer with intentions to close it. Seul’s eyes close softly and Sungchan with his significant tall height difference with the captain, leans his neck down to kiss her soft lips surface.
The kiss took their souls out of body like astral projection, the warmth combining and their hands tightly heighten as their face move in synch, making out on the couch after their share of emotional confessions and apologising.

I keep listening to the Electric Mayhem’s cover of “Bridge Over Troubled Water” and thinking about the headcanon that Mzingo and his parliament raised Janja and his friends
And him seeing Janja curled up in a ball sleeping just like he used to when he was a cub and Mzingo’s heart just…melts
And it doesn’t stop there. Imagine Rerei seeing Goigoi sleeping next to their kids and seeing them as newborns, Timon and Pumbaa remembering what Bunga and Simba were like when they were little…
Even Pua glances at his old float in the watering hole and smiling warmly cuz he’s thinking about the time where he was still a young, arrogant, but fatherly leader when Makku and some of the other crocs were still hatchlings who looked up to him

absolutely !! 🧵: ok so this is a fact about yoda and thats because hes mostly technically a muppet and i dare anyone to fight me on it . anyways at the time there was not a lot of experience of making lifelike muppets that were intended to be believable as living creatures (the dark crystal would significantly advance things in that realm) so yoda was pretty experimental. they did a great job making him lifelike, but he ended up being this massively heavy doll made out of nonpliable rubber, with these giant fuckin cables connected to him to control the mechanisms for his eyes and ears etc. so just a ridiculously difficult puppet to operate, but a great practice experiment for the lifelike puppets they;d need to build for dark crystal! 🪡: i was thinking recently about a new muppet that was designed for the disney+ electric mayhem show, and how she just does not work at all even a little. in my non-expert opinion this is because she does not follow two very key muppet design principals, one of which is the "magic triangle"-- the idea that the triangle btwn the eyes and nose/mouth determines the whole personality of the character. the other is that early muppets are SO defined by their simplicity . like, most of the members of electric mayhem dont have eyes. muppet craftsman don sahlin rly focused on taking jim's design sketches and simplifying them into their key elements. kermit is just some eyes, dude, 🖍: this has gotten rly out of control . um . certain muppets are flocked, so like, covered in fuzz, essentially, but the way they do it is. take the muppet. add adhesive. dust em with the flocking material like theyre a powdered donut. and then fuckin electrocute them so the flocking material will like, stand on end essentially. miss piggy is like this, as are stadler and waldorf! 🔨: kermit was originally made out of a random coat jim took from his mother. eventually though they found a really nice sturdy green fleece to make him out of, but when they ran out of that particular fleece it was difficult to find more so they had to redesign kermit because the fabric weight would be different (it either required a double layer of a thinner fleece, or they'd have to redesign the body to be a bigger body so a thinner fabric could accomplish the same thing! another materials problem they had is that the large turkey feathers that were used for big bird are no longer available so they had to redesign him as well
in case you have time to kill and want to watch some interviews with muppet builders, these (1, 2) are some i found while checking my sources on some of this stuff !
