so i'm demipolyromantic and i keep getting what i'm ninety percent sure are squishes but that my brain keeps convincing me are crushes. i think my brain's just trying to make me feel like i'm not demiro and idk why!! is there anyway to differentiate between a crush and a squish?

Yeah, they are very similar. And can have a lot of the same attraction symptoms. The big difference is generally a squish makes you want to be close/important to them, but there’s no romantic element to the feelings. Someone experiencing a squish may want or be OK with a romantic relationship (though not always) but if they are it’s because it would accomplish the goal of being closer/important to the person they’re attracted to, not because they’re feeling romantic feelings.
