This was one of those shorts that could have been a much longer story had I the patience. In my mind's eye, I envisioned several letters back and forth between them before the finale, but I just had a hard time coming up with good discussions between them in the short amount of time I had to write this. That's one of the downsides to challenge fics with deadlines. But, I still think it turned out beautiful. The ending, as sad as it is, was born from my own loneliness and desire for someone who loves me enough to drop everything in their life to be with me in my darkest hour. I think it may also have been a foreshadowing of my mom's death, which I knew was getting closer. Sadly, Poe didn't show up at her funeral to support me.

Look y’all, this came to me while I was in the shower and is cracky and absurd and one of the best things I’ve ever written. Two and a half years later and I’m still obsessed with this ridiculous little fic. It’s insane. It’s hilarious. It’s ALSO TECHNICALLY CANON. And I love it so much. It never fails to bring a smile to my face.

2 Good People, Bad Beer (post S3 SethKate)

Seth and Kate bonding over shitty beer and making out against the back of a car after surviving Matanzas, what more can you ask for? I re-read this one A Lot. It’s so good. I love it so much. Seth being dumb about them while Kate is sitting there super certain about them both is one of my favorite dynamics to write for them.

3 not the same (post TPS2/DDS3 Kastle)

Maria gets a pass out of the afterlife and uses it to browbeat her erstwhile husband into committing to get a better apartment and matchmaking him and Karen. Because of course she would. Maria Castle totally ships it, and it works because I said so and it’s not like anyone in the comics actually stays dead anyway.

4 watching over someone from afar (post TPS2 Kastle)

This was a BEHEMOTH inspired by a Sailor Moon quote and it’s such a delight. There’s nothing I love more than putting Karen together with the Lieberman family, and especially with Sarah. The dramatic scenes between Karen and Frank, especially the one right after Frank called David freaking out because he thought she was missing when she was really just snowed in at their house was just so much fun to write and it’s a beast of a fic but so much fun to go back to. Also fun to throw in those bits of Karen traumatizing Foggy on purpose.

5 There Is No Easy Way To Explain (post TPS1 Kastle)

“Karen, I know you kind of got thrown in to the whole paralegal thing, but did Matt and Foggy not teach you a thing about ethics? Specifically, the ethics of not sleeping with your client? Especially the clients on trial for almost forty fucking homicides.” - okay but like, this fic has some of the best one-liners I’ve ever written, and Marci’s POV is SUCH a fun sandbox to play around in. She’s just like..how do you LIVE and Karen’s like…hot marine with an eight-pack ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Honorable mentions, because I could not resist: what died didn’t stay dead (you’re alive, you’re alive in my head) SethKate, post S3 and Seth just does not understand how Kate is alive because he’s in awe of her, which, duh. Chapter 4 of The Strongest Stars one-shot RebelCaptain, Jyn and Cassian aren’t easy to write and this was just a fun bit of banter, It Often Rhymes Damerey takes a jaunt to Naboo and I choose not to care that Force Ghosts don’t work like that, Going Through The Unimaginable Damerey, post TLJ and they're all stuck on the Falcon and was just really fun to write, Three People, Two Reunions, One Room In Medical (RebelCaptain, post ANH - it’s a crime that Jyn and Leia never got to interact outside of some of the comic canon)

Omg it feels like we just wrapped up last year’s event and already it’s time for another DamereyCreations Week! 

It will take place October 23rd-29th and we hope you all can participate either by writing, drawing, creating, or simply showing support and having a fun time with the Damerey family!

First Lines Tag Game

It has been a long time since I've written anything, but I recently started a new WIP two weeks ago after a lengthy hiatus and so I'm going to use this as a little preview and motivation for me to continue writing and hopefully finish a fic again. Enjoy. 😊

New Untitled Damerey WIP(!): The scenic plains of Montana surrounded them. Majestic mountains painted the backdrop. Cattle grazed on lush grass and a familiar sign hung across a wooden arch over the dirt road. Skywalker Ranch. It had been almost three years since Rey had returned home.

Homecoming with Professor Dameron: “Honey, are you okay?” “Sweetheart?” A gentle hand at Rey’s shoulder temporarily pulled her attention back to Jyn. “Yeah, Mom.” she mumbled, swaying back and forth while continuing to survey the room. “I’m fine…”

A King and Husband Returns: Rey straightened her features as the conversation around the Small Council again pivoted to the war effort. As if she needed a reminder. The conflict with the Kingdom of Korriban, Yavin’s northern neighbor, erupted three months following her marriage to Prince King Poe Dameron. She had barely settled into her role as Queen before her husband left to lead Yavin’s defense forces. That was two months ago.  

A New Master: “But Master Skywalker, why would you do this to me?” He had been her master, teacher, best friend, and yes, even a father figure since rescuing her from the slavers on Jakku over a decade ago. Why would he abandon her now? 

Better Care: Poe was hunched over the side of his cot in the Resistance camp. He had spent three weeks away on assignment for General Organa but came empty. No intel, no allies, and no resources. He sighed about ready to retire for the evening when the zipper to his tent opened and Rey marched in with a first-aid pack.

Husband and Wife: “You may now remove the veil.” Rey took a deep breath to steady her nerves as he reached forward and pulled back the sheer that had been obscuring her veneer

Chasing Sunshine: “I just want to go to school without being followed by an army of armed men!” Rey Skywalker frowns in disappointment in the Oval Office. For the past two years she has studied abroad at Oxford. During that time, she has been accompanied by no less than four Secret Service agents at all times. While being the daughter of President Luke Skywalker came with challenges, trying to fit in as a normal college student had proven more difficult than expected. 

I believe I can fly (with you): Poe paced nervously just beside the park entrance. His uneasiness had nothing to do with the freezing temperature or the fact tomorrow was Christmas Eve. He had prepared for both. The real source of his anxiety was the brunette who had captivated his every waking thought for the past week. 

A Date with Professor Dameron: Rey stood outside the classroom and took a deep breath. She could do this. Absolutely. Today was just another regular Tuesday. A seven am workout at the campus gym, shower, and breakfast consisting of a banana, granola bar and thermos filled to the brim with instant coffee was her morning ritual. Nothing unusual about any of it. Why then was her heart beating out of her chest and her hands trembling? 

Behind These Hazel Eyes: The crowd around Rey cheered loudly as the Medley relay signaled the start of the swim meet. What was she doing here again? She had never been into sports and the humidity of Yavin High’s natatorium had her sweating bullets even in a t-shirt. Seriously, what even was a Medley relay? The answer to these questions and more hopped up on the starting block of lane 3 and Rey flushed due to an entirely different kind of heat.

if you still follow me for damerey fics/that's why you ever followed me, I have three WIPs that I'll be able to finish. I've included their summaries below! If you were ever interested in these fics, let me know what your vote is and I'll start posting the rest of them!

(if you follow me for other fandoms, know that I'm planning a Geraskier update this weekend, an ATLA update or two in the coming weeks, and maaaaaaaybe an epilogue chapter for my long JoeNicky fic)

Option 1: "I Know Places (We Won't Be Found)". Rated M.

Rey of Jakku is just trying to survive when a new spice runner comes to Niima.

He's handsomer than the last few, that's for sure - but Rey doesn't want to trust this good-looking stranger. She knows what can happen to girls who let their guards down: death, or something worse.

But, when Unkar Plutt forces her to help him with an odd search in the desert, Rey gets to know the mysterious spice runner a little more, and when he shows her a depth of kindness and warmth she's never experienced before, Rey starts to develop feelings she's definitely never had before.

She knows his time on Jakku will be short, but there's more to the smuggler than meets the eye. And, the secrets he's hiding just might turn out to be deadly.

Librarian Rey Smith enjoys her job immensely. She gets to serve the population of the small town of Jakku, read on the job, creatively solve problems using her many skills - and sometimes ogle the most handsome patron they have, a mysterious bookworm named Poe. When he exits the building in a rush one day and leaves behind the leatherbound book he's always writing in, Rey picks it up and reads a few pages. It's a riveting tale of vampires, legends, and the ancient struggle of good versus evil, as well as the narrator's barely tamed bloodlust-

She had no idea he was a writer!

Option 3: "In Calm Waters," Rated E

Rey Smith, an Omega who presented late, meets Poe Dameron, an Alpha unlike anyone she's ever met. Sparks fly, they fall in love — and fight against societal expectations.

The two work together to build a relationship built on mutual trust and respect in a world that claims they should be nothing more than their biologies.

How do you get ideas for original fics? Do they come to you as if in a dream? Do you look for them? Do they spiral out of fic ideas?

ALL OF THIS LMAO 😂

Sometimes - like VERY recently with 36 Hours I dream about sth and it stays with me to a point where I simply cannot help but give this dream more context. I'd rather not talk about how often this actually happens to me both with fics and with original stories 🙈😅

BUT same goes for my stories Shadow of Olympus, The Hollow, Take me to Wonderland, Into You, Anything but Perfect and The Secret of Hope Island (holy shit, Ma'am 🙈)

My story The Curse of Briar's Hollow used to be a OUAT Sleeping Hook AU, but as my love for this show deflated like a balloon hitting a hedgehog over the course of S2 I couldn't let this story go, so I ditched the kinky priest bits and kept the FCs and overall arch 😁

My story The Prince's Bride used to be a Narnia fic with a Caspian!OC, but the world building around my OC Selena spiralled at such a pace that after like two weeks it seemed easier to keep the FCs and make it an original story 😄

My story Distant Stars used to be a Damerey Star Wars story, but because of some mild and unnecessary drama of the "people have obviously never heard of tropes" kind I turned it into an original "space!Anastasia" kinda story. But because I kinda sorta overwhelmed myself with the amount of world building I did for this one I circled back, turned Cassia into a Poe!OC and made it into a Star Wars fic again. Alas, in my heart it's always JayxCassia > PoexCassia 🤗

And my third tier are stories that are the result of me being into a very specific niche of fiction like "Dance Academy Stories" (Make your Pointe!) or "Women who find meaning and love in the country side" (Return to Miller's End) or "Love Story but make it Witchy" (Children of Salem) or "Elaborate Bodyguard Fantasy" (Save Me) and "Our World but make sth about it wildly AU" (City of Kings and Queens)

In short - I have too many original stories, because those weren't even all 😩

An update on my fics (and politics)...

As many of you may know, for the past several months I've struggled with finding the motivation to write. Part of it was due to other things I had going on in my life and part of it was a weird feeling of apathy, indifference, and general depressive thoughts.

The good news is this most recent wave of the Damerey Fic Challenge has helped me begin to find that motivation to write again.

Naturally, just when things were looking up, the state of politics/government here in the USA over the last two weeks has really impacted my anxiety, headspace, and overall progress. Thanks SCOTUS... 😡

More than anything I want to continue my long-running WIP Chasing Sunshine, but I simply cannot sit down and write for the fic without my thoughts wondering to all the messed up shit that has been going on my country. Although my story isn't meant to perfectly reflect real life, Chasing Sunshine is about the government to a certain degree and I have weaved themes that mirror our current political climate into the plot — namely those of combating fascism and inequality.

As much as it pains me to say it, I'm going to have to continue to keep Chasing Sunshine on ice until I have the proper motivation and headspace to be able to write for it. And I just can't do that right now.

In the meantime, I'm going to try working on other stalled/abandoned ideas I've had so feel free to send me any suggestions or requests for another WIP or 'verse of mine you'd like to see updated. 🙂
