Deep Blue // Part 2
Part 1
Tumblr media
The cabin boy thought of her often: the siren made of spun gold with eyes and scales like the sun.
As a pirate with no crew, in a foreign land, he didn't have a lot of options. He made scraps of change working under the local fisherman, casting nets and charting patterns. The fishermen would work by day, only to dock by night, never straying farther than the bay. It was a far cry from the ship with blackened sails he'd come to know as his home, where they chased the horizon with a bone-deep hunger to move; to live.
He had to get back to the ship.
Working on the docks, he felt like a fish on a line. Only allowed to roam so far before he was reeled back in to a world smudged gray and docile. He craved the thrill of the life he had once known. And, perhaps, for a glimpse of the sea maiden who had spared him mere weeks ago.
He wasn't sure how it started, exactly, but he found himself collecting things for her. Trinkets and paperweights that he thought a siren might enjoy. He began leaving his offerings on the beach where he woke up, every evening laying them on a smooth rock near the shore.
First, a gold pocket watch he'd swiped from the wandering trader. Then, a crystal he'd taken from the market. A brass harmonica. An emerald-green bottle.
Each day he'd return to find the gifts no longer there.
The displaced pirate itched to see her again.
After placing down his latest offering--a stolen music box--in the designated spot, he sat down beside it.
The lull of the waves sweeping the shore was a balm against the restless ache of him.
He tried to shove the feeling down; to remind himself that he'd only ever been a cabin boy. He was more often assigned to swabbing the deck or galley work than he was to anything exciting.  Barely a pirate at all. Still. The longing settled deep between his ribs.
The cabin boy cranked the key in the music box and opened the lid. The mermaid figure in the center of the box turned in a slow circle.
Laying back against the sand, he closed his eyes, humming the tune along with the music box. The melody was a shanty that sailors often sang amongst the tossing waves, usually with mugs of ale in hand.
He wondered, distractedly, how far their songs carried over the waters. Did sirens ever listen to humans sing?
A calmness spread over him. The kind of ease that only blanketed him when in the sea's company. It tucked him into a serene embrace, coaxing his mind to settle.
He felt the tide rush up under him.
It wasn't even cold.
His eyes snapped open at the realization.
He sat up, eyes locking with that of his siren's. She caught the pirate's ankle at his sudden movement, squelching any twitchy urge to skitter away from her.
The cabin boy swallowed. "Hi."
The siren wasn't humming now, though she must have been just moments earlier, if the distance the tide had risen was any indication. He wondered how long he had laid there, entranced,  as she'd watched him.
Her head tilted, innocently, even as her claws pressed, sharp, against the ankle of his trousers. "Most humans who are lucky enough to escape the clutches of a 'sea demon' such as myself are not so foolish as to offer themselves up a second time."
The light of the setting sun set the blonde of her hair aglow. She looked like magic.
It left the pirate a little dizzy with the brilliance of her. When he didn't say anything, the siren continued. Her smile was dazzling.
"Come to surrender yourself to me? I’ll admit, you would make a pretty sacrifice. So vulnerable. I'm almost offended you haven't built me an alter."
She tugged him by the ankle a few paces deeper, where the water leveled his chest. His fingers scrabbled into the sand beneath him for purchase, breath hitching in panic. When she let go, he stilled.
She'd already let him live once. He wasn’t certain whether that helped or hurt his chances.
In the shallows, he could see the siren's tail clearly. The intricate knit of her scales were gilded as if made of woven stars.
"I wanted to see you," the pirate said finally. His voice was croaky with rasp, whether from the salty air or the fear in his belly. He thought to himself how grating the sound must be to the ears of a creature of song.
The siren’s smile only grew.
"Pretty thing, you are only tempting me to do what is of my nature." She shifted closer, sitting up in the water to press a clawed hand over his heart. "You are so sensitive. I've never even had to sing to you outright to catch you under my spell. I hum a few notes, and you’re mine."
The pirate watched her. "You spared my life. I am grateful."
"That is why you leave me gifts?"
His eyes widened, surely betraying his eagerness. The soft underbelly of a puppy rolling over. "D'you like them? I know they're not quite treasure--"
"Your human trinkets...amuse me." Her eyes wandered to the music box, its tune stammering to a halt.
She lifted it up to scrutinize it, turning it upside down.
"Would you... Would you like for it to play again?" the pirate asked, a little breathless.
The siren's attention flicked to him, a sword's tip ready to slice him down the middle.
When she didn't refuse, the pirate reached out. He kept his movements slow and careful; easy to track. His fingers fit the key in the back of the box, twisting it around a few times.
The little mermaid statuette inside began to dance to the music again. The siren tilted the box right-side up for a better view, leaning in close. Her eyes were wide and focused, like a cat following a beam of light.
The cabin boy watched her, drinking up that curious and voracious look in her eyes. "Is it alright?"
"Why do you bring me these things? Why have you sought me out?" Her accent was a patchwork of various sea-bordering dialects, melded into a unique cadence. The melody of her timbre was velvet against his nerves.
He shrugged, straightening the hem of his sleeve. "You...saved my life."
"From your own crew. I ought to hunt them down again. Sing until they yearn for me, until my song is the only thought in their minds, and they are so desperate to reach me that they leap to their deaths in my waters." Her claws dug scars into the wood of the music box.
The pirate's insides sloshed cold. "No-"
The siren's gaze flicked to him. For the creature of sea that she was, it burned all the more scalding. "No?"
He opened his mouth to speak.
"Go back to hell, demon!" A harsh voice barked from the shore.
The pirate barely had time to glance up. He heard, more than saw, the harpoon fly from the fisherman's gun. It sliced through the air with an audible shing.
The tip buried itself in the siren's tail.
She gasped out a strangled cry, the first sound to come out of her mouth that wasn't beautiful. Branches of red bloodied the water, clouding the shallows like an angry sky.
Grabbing the pirate by his shirt, she yanked him forward. Her claws gouged the skin beneath. "You set me up!" Her voice was a knife’s edge now. ”Your incessant stalling tactics should have been my first clue. Don’t worry, I won’t make the same mistake twice.”
Panic and guilt swelled in his chest. The fisherman--his boss--must have been looking for him when he stumbled upon the pair.
"N-No! No, I didn't know he would come here, I'm sorry!"
Her eyes, gold as the heat of summer, smoldered. "You will be."
Diving under the water, the siren tugged the pirate with her. He spluttered in a flail of limbs, sucking in a final breath as the siren dragged him away from the fragile safety of the surface.
The music box sank, forgotten, to wedge itself amongst the rocks. It was the last thing the pirate saw before his vision began to fog.

Super Villain x Civilian
Super villains henchman absolutely love civilian! They’re so sweet and kind, and every Friday afternoon they bring in fresh pastries. Super villain would never admit this out loud, but he was pretty sure the henchman were more loyal to civilian then they were to him at this point.

No. 42
////
Hero’s always been able to sense power. They have to investigate when they go to the library and the librarian has power beyond anything they’ve every seen. Only problem is, Civilian doesn’t quite understand what Hero’s talking about.
////
“Have you ever felt different from everybody else?”
“There’s an LBTQ+ aisle at the end of the hall.” Civilian waved a hand in the general direction. “If that’s what you’re looking for.”
“No. That’s not—,” Hero floundered, “I was asking about you. Have you ever experienced something that you couldn’t explain? Or felt certain things that weren’t normal?”
“They’re perfectly normal thoughts to have, I’d have you know.” Civilian sat straighter in their chair. “And that’s quite a forward question to ask.”
“No. No.” Hero stepped back as Civilian’s power furled over the desk, surging like a wave around Hero’s knees. The energy was so dense that Hero would’ve sworn it was tangible, but the library was still. No paper or dust mote so much as stirred as the torrent of power spilled past Hero and into the shelves. “I didn’t mean it like that either.”
“Well how did you mean it?”
“You’re the most powerful person I’ve ever seen.”
Civilian squinted at Hero, then briefly looked down at themselves. Their power hovered and hung like vapor in the air. “You think I’m powerful? Me?”
“Even just sitting there, your presence fills the whole room.” Hero gestured outward for effect and regained their footing, wading through Civilian’s power and back to the desk. “You’re absolutely brilliant. And also a little terrifying to be be honest.”
Civilian coughed and glanced toward their computer. “There’s no need for flattery.”
“Flattery?” Hero shrugged. “I’m only stating what’s true.”
Civilian laughed and leaned back in their chair, covering their face with their hands. “Does being this honest always work for you?”
“Well.” Hero paused, staring at the smile hidden halfway between Civilian’s hands. “I’m not usually this direct.”
They made it a rule not to point out most peoples’ powers. Everyone nowadays had some energy whisking about them, however small, and Hero learned early on that people didn’t like to be seen. There was an unwritten line between perception and invasion and Hero could never tread it right, could never stand it’s tightrope thinness and sway.
But Civilian. Civilian’s power crawled and stormed with thunderhead might, with an immensity Hero could only liken to Superhero, and Hero couldn’t look away, not this time.
As Hero ruminated, Civilian shook out their hands, and scratched their neck. “Your honesty,” they corrected, “it’s a good thing. I like it. Don’t worry.”
“Thanks.” Hero paused again, hand thrumming at the edge of the desk. “You know what…I’m not actually sure we’re talking about the—”
A crash sounded outside and Hero jumped, catching a stack of books before they fell off Civilian’s desk. They slammed them down in a pile and stole a sticky note and pen.
“Here’s my number.” Hero fixed the note on the topmost book and turned on their heel, urging their sense to scout beyond Civilian’s power. “We’ll talk later.”

Whumpril day 24
(secrets, under duress, “what have you done?”)
Civilian hadn't betrayed Villain for the sake of the city.  Why would they have? They didn’t love the city, couldn’t care less about the people in it or the corrupt men that ran it. Why would they throw a low class villain under the bus, putting a target on their own back, for the sake of the city?
And, more importantly, they cared about Villain.  They’d loved Villain before they’d become a villain, not because of their powers, but because of who they were. Them realizing how corrupt the city was, them deciding to do something about it, had only made Civilian love them more. And if everyone called them a villain, then Civilian was happy to love a villain.
So no, they hadn't betrayed Villain for the city. But they had betrayed Villain.
Civilian watched as Villain was dragged away in chains, still wearing their civilian outfit.
A crowd had begun to form, with passerbys staring at Villain like they were some form of entertainment. It was infuriating.
To the crowd, Villain probably looked unbothered by their arrest. But the stiffness in their shoulders, the way they doggedly refused to look anywhere but straight ahead, made their distress clear to Civilian. They wondered if Villian suspected what they’d done.
"You did good today."
Civilian tried not to flinch as a hand landed firmly on their shoulder. Hero's obnoxiously loud voice rang in their ears. They didn't turn to look.
"It took a lot of courage to disclose Villain's plans to us," Hero continued, loud enough for the crowd to hear. "You're truly an inspiration to us all." They wanted nothing more than to punch the so-called hero square in the face, but Civilian knew that’d only earn them a broken hand. They ignored Hero instead.
Hero sighed and leaned towards Civilian’s ear, voice lowering to a whisper. "Nobody learns about our little deal, okay?," the sheer smugness in Hero's voice put Civilian's teeth on edge. "You keep quiet and everyone walks away from this in one piece." Hero gave their shoulder a pat, using just enough force to make the unspoken threat clear. Civilian didn't speak.
They couldn't help but shiver as Hero walked away. They had betrayed Villain, but for good reason. The things Hero had said, the things Hero had threatened to do to them both, were too much. There were far worse things than prison.
That fact didn't stop the tears that fell from their eyes the moment they got home.

After Hours - Pt. 2
pt.1
A week had gone by and Colleague was still giving Civilian a daily coffee. After two weeks, civilian started baking treats for Colleague in return. In fact, sunday had become “baking night” for them. After Civilians first cookie drop —that’s what they called them— Colleague had left a note the next time he gave Civilian their coffee. This turned into full blown conversations between the two.
Civilian now stared at the yellow sticky note attached to their latest coffee cup.
Join me for lunch? It read in swirly cursive handwriting.
Holy. Crap. Lunch? He wants lunch. With me?? Civilian was baffled. Sure they’d grown very fond of Colleague. But lunch? That was a whole other playing field. There was deciding what to eat, of course. And then the matter of paying and conversation. Civilian could make it totally awkward and then Colleague would feel uncomfortable. They’d probably regret asking and the only joy Civilian found in this dreary office would be gone. Before their thoughts could run any farther, Colleague appeared at their desk. They stole a glance at there watch and holy crap it’s already lunchtime?
Civilian looked up at Colleague. He raised an eyebrow expectantly, “Ready?”
I guess it wasn’t a question
Civilian nodded and stood from their desk —gathering their things.
Civilian was in Colleagues car. His car. This was crazy. I mean, they hardly knew the man! They felt so awkward and like their heart was going to beat right out of their chest at any moment. Then Colleague spoke.
“So”, He glanced over at Civilian. “Any preferences?”
Colleagues voice was silky smooth like music to Civilians ears. They could hardly think, really. “Umm, no. Not really…”
“None at all? What about sushi?”
Civilian scrunched their nose almost subconsciously.
Colleague let out a light chuckle, “I’ll take that as a ‘No’”
Civilians face flushed pink with embarrassment and then fumbled with their fingers. “Um, I know this really good sandwich shop.”, It was almost a question and for a second Civilian wondered if they had even been heard.
“Where’s it at?”
“Up on twelfth street.”
Colleague smiled, “Sandwich’s it is.”
They arrived at the sandwich shop shorty. Before Civilian could even unbuckle, Colleague had made it to their side of the car and opened the door for them. Oh my.
“And they say chivalry is dead.”
Colleague laughed at that, placing his hand on the small of Civilians back and leading them to the door of the restaurant. They were sat by the waitstaff and ordered fairly quickly. Things were going surprisingly well and Colleague even ordered a sandwich Civilian recommended.
“Civilian.”
“Yes?”
“I don’t think I’ve ever heard you call me by my name. It’s always ‘Mr’ with you.” Colleague cocked his head slightly and a lock of his dark hair fell in front of his forehead. How boyish.
“Well, I guess I just seem to be on the professional side. A corporate prude, if you will.”
Colleague smiled again. Gosh— that smile. “Do you… know my name?”
Civilian averted their gaze, “Umm, well.” They sighed and looked back at Colleague, “If I’m being honest… no.”
“Ahh I see. That’s ok, you can call me -Civilian Name-“
Before Civilian could respond, their waiter came and gave them their food. They decided to take a bite of their sandwich to avoid further conversation. They felt bad for not knowing Colleagues name.
“Civilian.”
“Hm?”
“This sandwich is absolutely delicious.”
Civilian couldn’t help the smile that spread across their face.
Another week went by and Colleague and Civilian were still making their exchanges. Their co-workers had long noticed and Civilian couldn’t help but feel embarrassed whenever they heard gossip about the two. They really tried to pay the others no attention but it was hard. Especially when they had gone to such lengths to avoid their co-workers. A dozen prying eyes followed Civilian as they left the office. They also worried about the things that were being said about them. It doesn’t help that they had never talked to the others or tried to at least be acquainted with them. However, Civilian didn’t blame them. Nothing interesting happened around the office. Like, ever. So, when the opportunity arises, of course the others are going to talk. It’s basically free entertainment. Something a little juicy to keep them going throughout the day. Civilian stepped out of the elevator and began their walk home. Perks of living in a big city: it’s walkable. They really liked walking so it wasn’t too big a deal. Especially after being cooped up in an office all day everyday. Before going home, Civilian decided to stop and get take out. After all, the groceries in their fridge were scarce and they were really craving some Chinese.
The sun had long set and finally civilian was on the last stretch to their apartment. They just had two more blocks to their home and then they could finally relax. Civilian had gotten to an alley and was walking past when something caught their attention.
Slam
They stopped.
Another slam and a scream
What the heck
Everything in Civilians body screamed at them to keep walking. This didn’t pertain to them and it wasn’t any of their business. However, curiosity killed the cat. They set their precious Chinese take out Down and slowly back tracked towards the alleyway. Spotting a garbage can, they decided this would be a sufficient hiding spot. Civilian couldn’t see very much of what was going on but could hear almost everything. They could hear punches being thrown and prayed that what they heard wasn’t blood splattering against the concrete. This was so stupid. What were they gonna do anyway? Fight some random guy?? He clearly had some experience fighting. Civilian peaked their head around the trash can to steel one more glance at the action. Sh*t. Was that villain?? The Villain. The cities most dangerous and feared individual?? Civilian was an idiot indeed. They decided now was the time to get out of there. SLAM. Before the could even move— a body landed right beside them with a wheeze.
THUNK
THUNK
THUNK
Oh no
Villain was slowly walking toward Civilians hiding spot. Sh*t Sh*t Sh*t. They curled up against the wall as much as they could. Foolish as it was, Civilian hoped that maybe, just maybe, Villain wouldn’t notice them.
They were wrong, of course.
Before they could even think, they were slammed up against the wall. Their feet dangled off the ground and hot pain spread all throughout their body. Villains grip on their arms strong and unrelenting.
“Mind telling me why you’re here and who you work for, sweetheart?” Villain crooned
His voice silky smooth. Like music.
Civilian couldn’t breath. Couldn’t think. Couldn’t do anything. They were panicking. Villain pressed them harder when he got no answer. All Civilian could do was whimper and try not to burst into tears. He let one hand grip Civilians chin and forced them to look at him.
“Open your eyes, sweetheart.”
Civilians heart beat impossibly fast. They opened their eyes and tried not to let tears fall down their cheeks. Villain squinted at them. Amongst their panic, Civilian couldn’t help feel a sort of familiarity about Villain. His dark hair, his eyes, the way his voice ran like velvet in their ears.
“Sh*t.” , Villain mumbled.
Civilians eyes widened, “-Civilian Name-?”
— — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — —
I hope this makes sense 🗿
If the naming of colleague/villain got confusing basically: Civilian refers to him as colleague in their head and they don’t know he’s a villain until the very end. “Civilian name” is just that. It’s his civilian name… or at least the one he goes by.
Anyway, thanks for reading 🥴 I can’t tell if I like it or not. I like it in my head but putting it on paper (or online) the way I want is annoyingly tricky.

Debt and Indebted Pt. 1
Captivity, Kidnapping for the sake of Collateral, general tomfoolery
“So.. what college do you go to?”
“You’re telling me you, Villain, kidnap me, a civilian minding my own business, and now you want to know what college I go to? What, so you can kidnap me as collateral again for your precious Hero? Are you insane?”
“I think you already know the answer to that, darling,” Villain grinned. “But maybe we can strike a deal. I happen to know that you are thousands in debt, and you are by far the calmest civilian to have been bound in these quarters, for better or for worse…”
Civilian frowned. Of course they weren’t the first. This was Villain of course, always causing some sort of pointless trouble in the city. Why were they even surprised! Villain continued his (very passionate) monologue as Civilian’s legs began to cramp.
“…Listen. I pay your tuition, you let me use you as collateral. It’s the loan sharks or me dear, who do you think cares about you more?”
“And how do I know you won’t kill me?” Civilian glared, shifting in their restraints. “Your name is everywhere. I’ve seen the terrible shit you pull here. And what about Hero? Won’t they recognize after the numerous attempts to save me?”
Villain laughed, a brittle thing, almost tangible in such a small space.
“Hero’s as dumb as a brick and blind to anything that doesn’t concern them. Why do you think I’m still in the papers? I’m not saying Hero isn’t good at their job but… Ha! No, that’s exactly what I’m saying! Why would I of all people kill you? You are what, 20 years old? I’m not cruel, you have a lot of life left to live darling, but a life in debt is not a life you want to be living. The slums are no place for a pretty thing like you. So what do you say? Please forgive my irony, but I believe I am the clear lesser of two evils. A little rebellion and years of systemic greed are not equivalent, if I may be as bold to claim such things.”
This was… tempting. Civilians cheeks turned rosy and hot even considering the offer, but a life of free education? Of more than picking up change in hopes of making their instant noodle stash last one more day? God, their mouth was watering just thinking of such luxuries.
“Real shot in the dark here, but I’m going to guess I don’t have much time to make this decision,”
Civilian glanced at the villains watch. Hero would be here any minute now.
“Fine. I’ll do it. I go to City State University… although I guess you probably already knew that being all powerful and whatever. But one condition, please just check with me the night before. I missed a calculus test for this, and being kidnapped by a notorious villain sounds about as good an excuse as my dog eating my homework.”
Villain smiled.
“Wonderful Dear, you won’t regret it.”

“I’ve heard . . . interesting things about werewolf relationships,” the villain said, their gaze roving over X.
“Oh, ah, mm. Okay, so I know what you’re talking about, but I need you to understand, that stuff is not at all backed by actual wolf science. And actually, the researcher who came up with that theory has since worked really hard to discredit it. So you’re not going to be able to, um, do those things with me.”
The villain scrunched their brows. “So you don’t form strong social relationships within your packs?”
“Oh.” X felt their face grow hot. “Oh uh, yeah we do.”
“What did you think I meant?”
“Nothing.”

Привет!! it's ya boi dmitri here to humbly request some villain x civilian content, just anything where the Big Bad is rlly soft for their partner, maybe civilian comes in to bring them something during a meeting/interrogation and the villain just stops being terrifying for a sec to greet them fjjhdhjdf is that too specific-
Hero gulped, taking a step away from the control panel. Villain stood at the opposite end of the room, glaring at him with death written all over them. "How did you get in?" Villain took a step forwards, and Hero took one back. He had almost bumped into the control panel if it weren't for the hostile expression of Villain growing even more aggressive. Hero glanced back, and moved off to the side, raising his hands in a defensive manner.
"Hey now, I- no one wants a fight in here out of all places, alright, Villain?" Hero spoke carefully as if treading on hot coals. The battery powering the entire machine was fragile and extremely reactive. If either Villain or Hero decided to spar out here, Hero was terrified to think how much damage would come upon the city. Villain didn't seem to back down though, instead. summoning the iconic electric blue lightning they were known for. Hero gulped, glancing back past the window at the reactor. Shit, he was in trouble, he needed to get out of here and get out of here quickly. His team waited above the building, already evacuating people away from the area. That wouldn't work- they needed to go--
"Hey, hun, there you are!" A third voice caught both Hero and Villain off guard. Temporarily, both of them halted their powers and looked at the doorway. It had opened up to a sweet-looking person, quite a few inches shorter than Villain. They glanced at Villain with a smile of an angel, before catching sight of Hero, seemingly surprised to see him. "Oh, you didn't tell me that you had guests over?" They walked towards Villain, carrying a tupperware.
The change in Villain's behaviour had made Hero fumble even more. Villain's stance dropped, and they turned their full attention onto their lover, giving Hero a side-glare. "Ah, he's not a guest, darling. Sorry, I didn't think you'd stop by today?" They spoke in a soft tone that Hero thought their nemisis could never carry. "I was just seeing them out, Lover," they gave a small smile, as the other had came and wrapped an arm lovingly around Villain.
Ohhh, the hero understood now...sort of.. but Villain?? Really? No way they could grow soft enough for a lover. Hero got completely sidetracked for a minute, before he realized that Villain and Lover was staring at them expectantly. "Right, Hero?" Villain's eyebrow shot up.
"What?"
"You were just about to leave?"
"Oh, uhhh right. Uh huh, I was just um...going.. Gotta y'know... protect the city and stuff." Hero muttered, slowly walking to the door, taking the long way around to avoid getting closer to the couple.
Lover's eyes lit up, recalling something. "Oh! Would you like cookies? I was just dropping them off, but there's more than enough for you!" They offered. Villain pouted, poking their shoulder.
"Do we have to share? I mean, those were for me and my co-workers, right? And Hero isn't- well, not technically my co-worker."
Lover rolled their eyes playfully, flicking Villain's shoulder. "I am always baking you things at home," they chuckled, before turning to Hero and gesturing to the tupperware filled with cookies.
Hero shook his head, giving a nervous smile. "Ah, haha, no I've gotta get going. But um, thanks for the offer?"
Both Lover and Villain shrugged in response, helping themselves to the delicious treats as Hero made a dash for their nearest escape route, thinking What the hell did I just witness?

Glass Havan part 5 would be lovely!!! This is such fun to read and really brightens my day!!! You're super talented ❤❤
Thank you! Sorry it has taken an eternity. Thank you to @creweemmaeec11 for helping me brainstorm.

Glass Haven Part 5
cw: threat of violence, taser, slight mention of blood
The arms on the clock ticked on as if tallying the dull hours that passed. It was annoying, at first. Eventually, the staccato tick-tock faded into the background, a sound steady and constant as Civilian's heartbeat.
Time seemed to crawl.
Civilian had nothing to do but get lost in her own thoughts. She imagined Villain striking down his enemies, the ones who threatened her, and using their bones as decorations as he had so morbidly suggested with that passive expression. She pictured their blood staining his clothes. Break them, he'd said. He'd said it as if it were nothing at all.
It made her feel very lucky she was not the one in his way.
Perhaps he only said it to see Civilian squirm, to remind her he was no hero.
And yet... Here she was: perched on a soft bed, safe, instead of bleeding out in an alley somewhere or tied to an interrogation table.
The air conditioning chilled the room, tugging Civilian's thoughts back to the present. Goosebumps prickled her skin. Sitting up, she finally slipped her arms into the holes of Villain's leather jacket.
It felt wrong to put it on properly. She was not some over-the-moon girlfriend gifted a jacket by a pining crush. This was Villain's jacket.
It felt some invasion to wear it, like stealing the robes of a king.
The fabric was warm and inviting against her skin, smelling faintly of Villain's expensive cologne; of fine spices and a withering fire.
She swung her legs over the edge of the bed and stood up. Her shoes squeaked, still damp from the rain.
Civilian opted to wander the halls for the third time since Villain had left her alone.
Ambling into the hall, Civilian started trying door knobs. As expected, most were locked. Apart from the cozy communal space at the end of the corridor, the passage stretched white-walled and empty, devoid of personality or furnishings.
Still, it far outweighed the dark dungeons she'd imagined a villain's lair to hold.
Civilian paused.
Well, she'd only seen the one wing. Who's to say there wasn't a medieval torture chamber somewhere?
Her veins sloshed icy again at the thought.
Jiggling another locked doorknob, Civilian sighed.
Who knew a Villain's base could be so boring.
Civilian froze at the sound of the air sizzling behind her, sharp and cracking.
"Well, looks like Villain not keeping track of his pet very well, mm?"
Civilian turned around to face the- not stranger. Todd.
He held a stun baton, the end jumping to life with blue static when he pressed the button.
His face was still bruised, red lines in the process of healing from when Villain had tossed him through her greenhouse. So easily, as if he weighed nothing.
"You're not what I'm here for, but you may be useful."
Todd stepped toward Civilian and she stumbled backward, away from the glowing end of the intruder's taser.
"Imagine my surprise," Todd continued closer, ignoring her retreat away from him, "when I sent my men to pick you up and Villain swooped you to safety instead. At first I thought you were working for Hero. But now... 'You Villain's lover or something?"
Civilian's back hit metal. She glanced back, startled, at the door sealing her off from the rest of the base.
Sealing her fate, too, in this case. She felt dizzy.
Civilian swallowed. "I don't even know him, really," she said, voice wobbling only slightly. "H-He said it was the principle of the matter. You going after something you presume to belong to him... Or... something like that." She grew quiet at the end, staring.
The smile on the criminal's face was cold. It split his features like it didn't belong there. "Well, then. By the principal. I can't let him humiliate me, can I?"
Her gaze darted to the panel requiring a handprint and password in order to allow entry. Useless to her.
Todd seized her arm and Civilian panicked, jerking back.
When that only succeeded in ramming herself into the steel door, she flailed and stomped on Todd's foot. He cursed, letting go.
She ducked beneath his arm for escape, but the intruder looped the arm across her neck, yanking her back hard enough to steal her breath.
Civilian squealed, breathing hard.
"Quiet, now," Todd hissed against her ear. "Don't want to alarm anyone, do we?"
Civilian bit down hard on his hand.
He dropped her--and the stun cane--with a growl.
Snatching the taser up from the floor, Civilian pressed it against the code panel, holding the button down. It lit up blue, electronics sparking as the screen blipped to black under the surge of electricity.
The door opened.
Civilian's stomach leapt.
She dove through the doorway, running into the first room she saw. With trembling fingers, she slammed the door shut.
Todd's footsteps skidded to a halt outside the door, his fist pounding it once.
Civilian jumped.
"No matter. Thanks for getting me in, civi. I'll just let you hang out there for a while." Todd's voice was muffled through the thick metal.
Something slid against of the door on the outside.
Civilian's pulse lurched. She pushed on the door once, then again. It wouldn't budge. She was trapped; in a restricted area, no less.
She wasn't supposed to be here.
What would Todd do when he came back?
What would Villain do?
Once the footsteps retreated down the hall, Civilian flipped on the light. It flickered on, bathing the room in a fluorescent wash of white light.
Civilian's gaze landed on the plaque above the door, reading Lab #3.
She turned around to study the contents of the room, from blackboards covered in scrawlings, gurneys of supplies and beakers, to-
-to a table of rare plants, a mortar and pestle, and a vial of something dark and swirling.
Despite herself, Civilian felt a twinge of excitement at the sight of several plants she had only seen in books. Moving closer, she examined them.
Foxglove, wolfsbane, Nerium oleander, dracunculus vulgaris... all highly poisonous.
Civilian's insides fluttered all the same, admiring the flowers from a safe distance. Even touching some of them would result in a reaction.
What does a villain with super strength need poison for?
She lifted a small stack of papers, sifting through them. Different combinations of poisonous plants and their effects were written line after line, some crossed out.
Minutes passed, then an hour.
Yanking on the door again brought Civilian nowhere. She raised a hand to pound against it, when she heard the sound of something being pushed away from the door.
Grabbing the stun cane and brandishing it in front of her, Civilian stood back as the door swung open.
Adrenaline alight, she lunged, electricity crackling at the head of the taser.
Villain's arm looped around her waist, pulling her back flush against his chest, the other hand twisting the baton out of her grip.
The sparks fizzled against the air again when Villain's fingers brushed the button in the scuffle, the end mere inches from Civilian's neck. He yanked it further away, sparing her from the crackling shock.
Civilian froze, unsure whether to be relieved or very, very frightened.
"Villain," she croaked, panting. "I didn't know it was you. Sorry."
She felt him smile against her ear. "Kitten. You're not trying to kill me in my own base, are you?"
"N-No. Definitely not. I thought you were Todd." Civilian felt a little breathless.
"Oh, I took care of him."
"Took...care of him?"
Villain let go of Civilian, letting her turn to face him. She stared at a small spattering of blood that decorated Villain's collar. Certainly not the drench of carnage she'd envisioned earlier, but, well, blood all the same.
This was all very real, wasn't it?
Villain's smile stretched higher, green eyes catching the light like the glass of a broken bottle. "He's in the dungeon, dearest. Still alive. For now."
Civilian swallowed. "Right."
Right, right, right.
"This is a restricted area."
"Really? I hardly noticed while I was fleeing for my life."
Civilian stopped, remembering again who she was speaking to.
A low laugh rumbled in the Villain's chest. "I suppose I'll let it slide...just this once. Since you're very pretty."
Heat flooded Civilian's face. She opened her mouth to speak.
Villain's attention flicked behind her. "You didn't touch those, did you?
Civilian followed his gaze, turning around. "No. I know what they are. What are you trying to make?"
Villain surveyed her, as if deciding whether he should indulge her.
"Other Villain and Todd are working together. Todd used to work for me until he began spilling my secrets to them. Well, you can imagine he needs to reconcile for that. My strength is only of use to me at close range, and close combat is not effective against Other Villain. That," he continued, straightening his own jacket on Civilian's shoulders, "is why alternative methods are required for the rest."
"Oh gods, sorry," Civilian said with a jolt of embarrassment, beginning to tug the jacket off.
Villain stilled her with a hand on her shoulder.
A hand that could crush her bones to dust...
"Do keep it, won't you?" Villain purred. "It suits you. Like a kitten in a blanket."
Civilian found herself staring again, wide-eyed and charmed. She knew it was foolish and would only get her burned, but he was so...entrancing.
Civilian cleared her throat. "Those plants won't work together. The red one emits the smell of rotting meat to attract flies, it'll be traceable in food. The other two together would make even touching the...the corpse...toxic. You don't want to harm innocent people. Do you?"
"Not when I can avoid it," Villain said, leaning a hand against the table beside her.
Civilian fiddled with her sleeve.
"Well... if you used henbane in a small enough dose, it would knock them out long enough to capture them. Then you wouldn't have to kill Other Villain. Or anyone else along the way."
"Henbane?"
"Hyoscyamus niger."
Villain lifted her chin with a finger, coaxing her gaze to meet his again. "You are clever," he said. "You're sure you want to help me?"
Civilian looked up at him.
"Todd nearly killed me or took me or worse today... I'd sooner help you than be bait for any of them. I'm not a prop. I'm a person. Just a gardener. The sooner all of this can end, the better."
"Oh kitten," Villain murmured, head tilting slightly. That fond smile graced his artistically carved features. Even in the harsh lighting, cool and pale, he resembled a marble statue. "You're not just anything. What the hell. Let's give your ideas a shot, shall we?"

◇ Wash your mouth out with soap
Tumblr media
bakugou katsuki x reader
Tumblr media
wc: 1.1k | fluff, angst if you squint
Katsuki’s been criticized since he was a teenager about his brash personality, taking a toll on his mentality. But even from a distance he can see your brazen heart waiting for him, always.
This is slightly rewritten and reposted but enjoy luv u
Tumblr media
Katsuki always had a mouth on him. Since the day you first saw his stone face on tv yelling at an interviewer in highschool, he’d grown to be known as the verbally abrasive hero- not that it mattered to him much at that time, anyway.
His mother had tried everything as the child grew up. The traditional hitting with her slipper, washing out his mouth with soap for ten minutes per cuss word; it proved to be unsuccessful and a distorted form of punishment that left a distinct scar in his memories.
“Pro Hero Dynamight verbally attacks civillian after villain attack!”
You look up to see the news headline pass through the screen with exclusive footage of your boyfriend getting into some verbal spew with a civilian, both covered in dust with a collapsed building in the background.
An ambulance pulls up to tend to the man’s injuries as Katsuki bitterly walks away from him before barking an unbleeped “Go fuck yourself”.
You couldn’t help but laugh at his quick outburst as the channel rushes back to the flabbergasted news anchor not expecting his foul retort, undoubtedly questioning his qualifications to be a true hero. You’re swift to turn off the TV and focus on something else.
Katsuki’s persona he was given was not something unfamiliar or a wedge between the both of you. You vividly remembered your first awkward date with eachother. How after every minute you couldn’t count on one hand how many times he was vulgar the more drinks he threw back to ease his anxieties.
People always questioned how could you ever date someone like him. The hero with not just an explosive quirk but an explosive personality that just seemed to be distasteful and rude- how could any sane person stand to be with someone like him?
However, other people’s view of him was the farthest of himself.
The clock hits five minutes to midnight before the apartment door opens, a rustling noise emerging through with heavy footsteps. You close your laptop and look over at your boyfriend tossing his backpack to the side and hanging up his keys.
“‘M home.” Muttered from an annoyed expression. Katsuki’s brows are furrowed down as he pulls his sweatshirt off, his long sleeved hero shirt hugging his muscles from underneath.
Getting up from your seat near the kitchen, you eagerly prance to his fatigued spirit. You gently push back his blond hair, cupping his hot cheeks, planting a sweet kiss where he needed it most. He can feel his unsavory mood melt away as you pull away with nothing less than a pretty smile on your face. “I missed you.” You stated delicately.
His face slowly softens, muttering how much he missed you as well. “I was gonna call you when I got a chance, but fuckin’ assholes held me up today.” He breathes out, the distaste from the events you saw earlier leaked ferociously from his words. “Some man got pissed ‘cause I didn’t get his stupid phone while saving him from a collapsed building.. ungrateful ass just causin’ a scene in front of the press, per usual.”
You watch his features tense from how much he’s holding back letting himself become irritated again about the spew earlier- you can see through his emotions better than the finest telescope. It was the first quality he noticed when he first met you.
When he talked you paid attention to every word; not in a way of faux admiration because he was a famous hero, but in genuine care of what he had to say. You didn’t get upset when he would swear a lame joke, instead you laughed like a rhythmic lullaby to his ears.
Since starting UA, all eyes were on the best in the school and he was always watched and criticized the most. His track record of saving civilians since he got his hero license didn’t matter, it was always going to be about how he’s perceived by the public from the way the media spins narratives about him. He would never admit how much it hurt, he’d rather let Deku continue to be number one than do than let society know they can wear him down.
Katsuki couldn’t advert his gaze as you started to run hot water in the shower for him. You come back and are immediately grasped into his frame. The living room is dimly lit as you slowly sway with the tempo of his warm, mellow nature.
“Shower with me?” He whispers.
You look up from his chest, chin near his heartbeat. “Already did earlier, but you go ahead and ill set the bed up for you?”
The room smelled fresh with cool air and candles as the window curtain wisps with the melody of the breeze. Katsuki walks in shirtless with fresh sweatpants. His hair is limp and damp, skin smelling fresh and old scars on his chest and back able to breathe.
He groans lightly as he lays on his chest, head resting on his hands facing the window as you drip oil on his aching back; hands tracing down the tense cords of muscle and up his neck. Every push he releases a breath, unpacking all the negative emotion from the past twelve hours like therapy.
You loved to just stand and work magic on his body than in a sexual type of passion. It was the way you stared at the shape of the body he’d built himself since he was in school, the divots that are reminiscent of a smooth mountainous landscape. How an hour in you couldn’t tell if he was asleep the way his mouth is slightly open and his brows are straight and relaxed.
It was always a struggle to hold back the tears when he can safely sleep. You keep them back before he ever sees them; because if there was one thing you knew about Katsuki, it’s that he hates seeing someone feel bad for him.
Luckily for you, he never sees it, just feels it.
Katsuki took the hits and fall into his body without delay. There was no hesitation about it as one glance down at the grooves of pink skin peppered over his build can confirm it. It wasn’t something he regret, just something he pondered on.
You both found yourselves to fall into this routine a couple times a week when you see your boyfriend’s shoulders droop just a little lower than usual, when his gaze was just a bit more sheen with distance. It’s been years since the last war, but he was still stuck on the one inside himsef. It made your chest ache.
Outside the room he lays in he was known to be a foul-mouthed man with too much power than he knew to deal with.
You push down the curve of his back with the heel of your palm in the thought.
You wished it was that simple.
He was a young hero stuck with the weight of a cruel world on his back.
You finish kneading his muscular frame, your hands hot of every drip of emotion soaked up like a sponge in water. Turning to leave, you’re stopped with a pull at your hand.
Katsuki slowly pulls your body into his seated embrance. Your delicate fingers find his hair, rubbing down his soft back as his breath his head lays against your stomach, hands leaving ghost touches against your chilled back.
The warmth of his hands find your chin, pulling you down to his level. Your lips lightly brush over eachother before he presses his against yours gently. “I love you, you know..” He mumbles a centimeter away.
Your eyes flutter open, sweeping past the smell scar against his face to his red ones sweet with honey. “Of course I know, loser.”
In a second you’re flown to your back, Katsuki hovering over you playfully as you laugh in surprise.
Those people just wouldn’t get it.

Febuwhump: Day Twenty
Truth serum— @febuwhump prompts
Is it Whump? If you squint, your honour.
TW: needles, fear of needles, needle phobia, being injected against will, restraints, kidnapping, grogginess, fainting, consent issues,
*~*~*~*~*
Journalist didn’t wake to their alarm or their phone ringing, both of which were the only things to rouse them from sleep. They groaned as they woke which, to be fair, was a usual thing because it meant they had to get up and work or meet a deadline or something equally groan worthy.
What was not usual was waking up strapped to a metal table. That was a new one, even for journalist.
I bet i am restrained, they thought, then tugged their arms for good measure. Oh, yep. Definitely restrained.
Cliché.
Which meant—
“You’re awake,” said Villain, a smile in their voice. Journalist craned their neck awkwardly trying to see Villain but groaned with the effort and the weight of their head like it was filled with lead. “Oh, yeah, no. Don’t move.”
“Got it,” Journalist groaned as their brain rattled in their head, making the room spin. “Uh, why am I here?”
“We need to have a little chat.”
“We had a little chat like — two days ago,” said Journalist with a groan. “It was far more civil and less dizzying.”
Villain finally came within view of Journalist and they had three heads. That was very different than last time they saw Villain, but alas, who was Journalist to judge.
“It’s actually about something we talked about,” said the Villains. Then they smiled coyly. “And Darling, get your facts right, we spoke three days ago.”
“Fuck,” Journalist whined and pulled at their restraints that clicked taut. “My boss is gonna be pissed—“”
“It’s fine,” said Villains with a shrug, now there was only two of them, the third having left the conversation. “Just tell them you were kidnapped.”
“Oh no, I mean pissed with you,” said Journalist. “You can so goodbye to any more favourable articles.”
Villain snorted then disappeared from view again.
“They will!” Journalist told them earnestly. Villain then reappeared beside Journalist’s left arm. Only one of them now thankfully, and a giant fucking needle.
“What the fuck are you doing?!” Journalist shrieked, kicking their feet against the table trying to get away from whatever the fuck Villain was about to do. The sound of the restraints clacking against the table didn’t do anything to ease their panic. “Wait! Wait! Wait! Villain please, I’m— oh god, I’m terrified of— I can’t—”
Villain’s eyebrows furrowed as Journalist descended into a panic attack. They quickly lowered the needle out of sight but Journalist’s eyes were already rolling to the back of their head and their body went limp.
Villain stared, stunned. Then brought the needle up again and while Journalist was passed out injected them with the contents, thumbing down the plunger. Villain set the needle down on a table faraway from Journalist and sighed.
They should have known Journalist had a phobia of needles. Idiot, but… it had to be done. Villain had to know once and for all.
They walked back over to Journalist and lightly tapped their cheeks to wake them. Journalist moaned in protest, but then blinked up with bleary eyes at Villain.
“Relax,” said Villain softly when Journalist’s eyes widened again. “It’s gone. I’m sorry. I didn’t know.”
“Shit, I’m sorry for fainting on you,” said Journalist with a breath, relaxing back against the table. Villain chuckled lightly at Journalist.
“You’re such a polite hostage,” said Villain and basked as a red blush climbed its way up Journalist’s neck and spread to their cheeks. “You’re blushing!”
“Shut up,” Journalist said with a huff, with no real malice behind the words. Villain hummed and stepped closer, brushing the stray hairs from Journalist’s forehead. They loved the way Journalist’s eyes shuttered at the movement. When Supervillain said the truth serum made people putty in your hands, Villain wasn’t expecting this.
Villain ran their hand lightly through Journalist’s hair as they began their gentle interrogation.
“Journalist?” Villain asked. Journalist hummed in response. Villain smiled. “I need to ask you a question, and I need you to be 100% honest with me.”
Journalist hummed again. “Okay Villain.”
Villain licked their lips, suddenly nervous. Here it was. This was it. Journalist was right here in front of them, injected with truth serum ready to spill their secrets and Villain was hesitating?!
“Are you…” Villain began then cleared their throat. “Are you Hero?”
Journalist smiled dreamily. “No.”
Villain paled. “No?”
“No,” Journalist said again. Villain’s hands froze in Journalist’s hair. Journalist let out a small keen in the back of their throat, whining at Villain’s pause. Villain resumed more out of shock than anything.
“You’re not Hero?” Villain asked again. They were almost certain…
“No, I’m Journalist.”
Villain blinked. Okay, they weren’t expecting this. Hero wasn’t Journalist? Then—
“But our conversation, you said your source was 100% about Hero?”
“Yes,” said Journalist with a smile. “It was.”
“Your most trusted source?”
“Yes.”
Villain frowned, something like jealousy settling in their throat. “Is Hero… your lover?”
Journalist giggled, actually giggled at Villain’s question. “No.”
“Then who is your most trusted source?” Villain demanded.
“Me,” said Journalist. “The best person to validate facts is yourself, Villain. So I had it on good authority that my information was correct.”
Villain frowned. “But how did you—”
“I’m the Hero/Villain liaison for the city news, Villain, I don’t just have late night rendezvous with you.”
Villain deflated. They really didn’t expect this conversation to go like this, but this— they thought, they were a fool. They should have never done this, curiosity killed—
“But you are my favourite.”
Villain’s heart leapt in their chest. “I am?” Villain asked, their voice coming out in a whisper.
“Yes,” said Journalist. “You’re always kind with me. Hero’s too serious and annoying.”
Villain snorted again. “They are. So… you’re really not Hero?”
Journalist giggled. “Villain, don’t be so cliché. I’m not Clark Kent.”
Villain smiled softly at Journalist. “Though, I don’t like the way you kidnapped me. My boss is gonna be so mad at you.”
“I know, Journalist.”
“And stabbing me with a needle? Not a great look for you, you can’t just do that without consent.”
Villain laughed. “I didn’t even need to give you truth serum did I? You say whatever is on your mind anyways.”
“No time to think up lies, Villain. I’m a busy person.”
“You are,” said Villain.

Imagine | Betraying Villain Bakugou as an Undercover Hero
Villain!Bakugou x ProHero!Reader
Summary: you were a pro hero sent undercover to get close to & gather intel on the notorious villain Dynamight. What you didn't account for was to fall in love with the man you were meant to take down.
A/n: basically undercover cop x mafia boss inspired hehe.
A/n: this was meant to be a proper fic but its been sitting in my drafts for SO LONG as just a concept so this will just have to do for now :')
🌟
You have to tell him.
The longer you wait, the worse it is for you. It won't take long for them to get to you.
To get to him.
Your fists clenched around the covers at the thought.
You can't let that happen.
You won't.
Bakugou Katsuki- or better known as Dynamight was a name well known by the public as the ruthless villain ruling the underworld with an iron fist whilst fitting into the facade of a very accomplished CEO.
He was notorious for his dirty ways & illegal businesses, never bothering to hide his darker persona from the world, making sure everyone knew to fear him. Yet, the authorities never had enough proof to arrest him, never able to trace his crimes back to him, his organization too clean & flawlessly managed to reveal any dirty work below the surface.
Thats where you come in. An undercover pro hero sent as an innocent civillian to get close to him & investigate from the inside.
Who would've guessed on the inside you'd find a grumpy teddy bear of a man instead of the demon of Musutafu. You learned he wore facade over facade. Despite knowing his CEO mask wasn't really him, you discovered he wasn't really the heartless criminal either.
Bakugou acknowledges that his hands weren't clean in his business deals, he knows he isn't all good, but over the time you spent together, you learn that he isn't all bad either.
Because how could the man who visits the orphanage he grew up in be all bad?
How could the man- insisting he only visited to see his Ma Inko that raised him out of obligation and not because he got attached to the little hellspawns at the orphanage, despite always relenting to play with them every single time without fail, because they were annoying, as if he couldn't just walk away if he really wanted to- be as evil as they say?
How could the man that consoles little kids who were nervous to have a new family so gently and softly, that they will be loved, deserved a place to call home, and promise he will make sure they were happy and safe, be totally heartless?
Falling in love was not the plan.
Nor was having the big bad crime boss fall in love with you.
It was most definitely not in your plans to adore the man snoring peacefully next to you while you silently lose your mind, as much as you did.
Looking over at him, his head pressed against your hip, arm draped over your thighs, his chest rise & fall in slow breaths, you couldn't help the smile that tugged on your lips.
Who knew the big scary, angry man whose explosive demeanor never fails to shaken people's hearts everywhere could be so..
Adorable?
He looked so harmless burrying himself further into your side, pulling you closer as he mumbled your name in his slumber, the action making you melt.
You twisted your body just a bit to bury your hands into his deceptively soft hair, letting fluffy porcupine spikes tickle your cheeks as you let yourself be pulled closer by the sleeping mobster.
And who would have ever thought the person who got him to open his heart was the same person sent to bring him down.
How ironic.
You clenched your jaw at the thought, freeing your fingers from those gold strands to fist your palms so tight your knuckles turned white, as you tried to control yourself while still being mindful of the sleeping Bakugou snuggling for your warmth.
You wanted to protect him. To keep him safe. For him to be free and happy. No matter the cost, even if it meant dying by his hands.
You've thought about it. Of course you have. You knew the consequences of revealing yourself to him, your initial motives and the fact that you've been betraying him, all the while the cold, hard man fell in love and trusted you enough to offer his heart.
He would kill you.
You knew that. You hurt him, even if he didn't know it yet. Broke his heart, & betrayed the trust he found so hard to give to just anyone.
There was no doubt he would kill you, and take your life as compensation.
Yet, you've made up your mind. You'd have nowhere to go. Even if by some miracle you get out of this alive, the HPSC would hunt you down. Your life was over with either way.
How strange.
To think dying was the least of your concerns.
As you run your fingers gently through his hair again, unable to placate your twitching fingers, Bakugou slowly stirred awake, soft red eyes fluttering open to blink up at you, before he broke into a sleepy smile filled with so much pure love and adoration you had to choke back a sob.
No. Dying was a show of mercy. Nothing would hurt more than having those warm eyes currently staring at you like you were the best thing in the world, turn cold. No torture would hurt more than having to live, knowing the man that used to attack you with the sweetest kisses whenever he came home, the man that clung to you like a baby koala while you cooked, the man that loved you despite knowing you weren't perfect, would come to hate you.
That was what would break you.
You were certain. Death would be welcomed in comparison to the alternative. Death would be worth having those red eyes only ever look at you the way he was now.
"Hi."
"Hi, you."
🌟
a/n: ohhhhhh mafia au my beloved

After Hours-
Civilian pressed the number five button of the elevator. The elevator chimed as they arrived at their office floor. And civilian bee-lined it straight to their desk, where they would be for the next eight hours. They never interacted with their co-workers and, most times, skipped lunch. Civilian didn’t mind this too much. I mean, they did it to themselves. They would intentionally go out of their way to avoid drawing attention to themselves, getting stuck in small talk, and—most of all—avoided having to stay in the office after hours. So, when their supervisor dumped a hefty load of work on them, they were not thrilled.
Lunchtime finally rolled around and civilian looked at the pile. “Okay”, they thought as they look at their watch. “I still have five hours. Five hours… to get all this done.”
Civilian put their head in their hands and sighed. They weren’t getting this done. It was physically impossible.
Thunk
Civilian looked up, startled. Their co-worker ,and team member, had placed an iced coffee on their desk.
“Ah—“, Colleague mumbled. “Looks like I’ve been caught.”
Civilian blinked as their cheeks warmed. “Thanks.”
“My pleasure.” , and with that, Colleague returned to their desk and resumed working.

That was nice. Had Colleague known this was Civilians favorite? Was this just a coincidence? Civilian wasn’t sure but they did feel a bit more motivated to finish their work quickly.

I saw some of your posts about Tommyinnit’s clinic for supervillains and I had never heard of it and now I’ve finished it in a day lol. Could you do a hero reader x siren where the hero reader knows Wilbur and siren knows the civillian reader and one day they’re in a battle and realisation and emotional shit goes on. I’ll leave you to decide what happens and whether someone dies :)
"Slow Your Breathing, Look At Me."

"Tell me you're not Siren. Tell me I'm not just some hero that fell in love with a supervillain."
♡♡♡
“WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT LET THEM GET AWAY!” Dream growled. Before he could utter another word, he used his telekinesis to throw a car at the flying Zephyrus.
The Syndicate had robbed the most successful and popularly known bank in L’manburg. Not only was it the bank thousands of citizens used, but it was also where most heroes got their paychecks. Meaning that there was the risk of the supervillains knowing the heroes’ identities. This caused headquarters to send out what Heroes we had available to fight against the Syndicate. Funnily enough, we were only fighting against the grand trio: Siren, Blade, and Zephyrus. The other heroes were on the hunt to find the other runaway supervillains who were previously on the scene.
I dodged through Blade’s sharp attacks, using my power of slowing down time to know exactly where his edges would land.
“Haste! I need your help!” I whipped my head around to find Rewind on the concrete. His leg was bleeding out from a nasty slice that nearly ripped to his bones.
“I got you!” I exclaimed. I sped past through the battles and bloodshed, narrowly dodging the flap of feathers and the muffled sound of a honey voice. The world around me was blurry, and I could only make out the figure of Rewind’s body heaving on the pavement. Once I was close enough, I picked up Rewind, holding him close, before carefully speeding past through the fighting yet again. I burst through the doors of a nearby building before running up the stairs as swiftly as I could. In a matter of seconds, we were by Supreme’s side. Supreme patted on the laid-out cushion he had set out before I placed Rewind down.
“Agh, I’m never going to get used to that…” He groaned, softly chuckling. I plopped down next to him as Supreme proceeded with his healing process.
“Pff, you’re going to be okay,” I reassured. He turned to me, a curious tilt turning his head.
“Hey, Haste, how do you control your powers anyway? If that isn’t a complicated answer—” He hissed in pain, feeling the alcohol sting his skin as Supreme cleaned his wound.
“Sorry!” Supreme quickly apologized.
“N-No worries—!” Rewind said through gritted teeth. I softly chuckled at his antics.
“Well, it was kind of a hard process. It took a lot of training to individually control my own speed separate from the world’s speed.” I explained. “It used to be ‘Oh I’m slow and everyone slow!’ or vice versa. But now it’s like… The whole world can be slow and I’m super speed! And if I’m ever holding someone, they can see what I’m seeing too!” I shrugged.
“Wow, I didn’t know it worked like that!” Rewind exclaimed, excitement seeping into his voice. I smiled, flattered that he took an interest in my powers.
“You’re all patched up Rewind! Be more careful next time.” Supreme said, dusting off his hands. We both looked down, not even realizing that the wound was already fully healed. “Thanks for sticking around to talk to him again, Haste. You know how squirmish Rewind can get when he’s not distracted.”
“Hey! Not true—!”
A loud crash interrupted Rewind’s banter. I stumbled over to the edge of the tower, only to see 404 throwing blades at Dream whilst Flame zapped fire under his feet. “Fuck!” I exclaimed. I sped down the stairs in a blurry haze before running across the street to tackle 404 down. “What was the command?!” I nearly demanded out of 404.
“It was only for me and Flame! He told us to take down Dream!” He explained briefly, but before he could say anymore, he pushed me off and his focus regained on Dream. Blade’s swords nearly slammed against me as I was about to get up. With speed, I was able to narrowly dodge my guts being spilled. I stumbled back onto my feet, running toward 404 and Flame. I looked behind me, realizing that Blade and Zephyrus were escaping. From the rooftops, I saw Rewind and Felis chasing after them. Turning back around, I realized that Dream was locked onto Siren, who was attempting to make his escape.
“Dream! I’ll cover for you, just get Siren!” I shouted, drawing out my shield. I swiftly ran in front of them, blocking both of them. Flame created a fire in his palms before nearly engulfing me in his creations. I pushed through the heat with my shield, only to be welcomed with daggers flying at me left and right. I slowed down time, carefully taking in how each dagger flew before brushing past each source of danger. I returned time to normal, waiting for their next moves.
A loud thud and a yelp of pain could be heard behind me. As I turned around, I noticed that Dream had Siren pinned against a building. Dream’s hand was raised as he pushed Siren’s body against the concrete, creating cracks surrounding him. I briefly looked back again to clear my way out of 404 and Flame’s attacks but I returned my gaze to the supervillain and hero. Dream was now close to him, a finger etching under his blindfold.
In one quick moment, Dream ripped the blindfold off of his face, and without realizing it, I was slowing down the world to near its max.
No.
No.
No…
I stood in the middle of the street, paralyzed.
The man I had met only a few months ago at a coffee shop.
The man who sat at my table one chilly autumn day after being relentlessly teased by his brother.
The man who I started developing a crush on and would blush when he would order my coffee for me.
He was here,
And he was Siren.
I felt my body charge up with speed, and without thinking, I was running at Dream and Wilbur headfirst. I tackled Dream down, making him lose his power over Wilbur before grabbing Wil and running with him in my arms. Despite the man being nearly double my height, the adrenaline told me I could bench fifty more of him if I had to. I eventually found an empty alleyway to hide in for the time being. As I stumbled into the space, the energy started to drain out of me. Time resumed back to normal as I carefully placed down Wil. I sat myself down in front of him, nearly collapsing. He only groaned in pain, weakly clutching at his ribs.
“Please… Wilbur…” I mumbled through heaving breaths. “Tell me you’re not in front of me right now…”
He didn’t speak. That action alone felt like taking my heartstrings and wrapping them around my neck. My head raced with a thousand thoughts at once, and barely any of them were comprehensive. I just wanted to know what holy being up there in the sky decided that this was my fate. That I had to be a hero in love with a supervillain. I felt sick to my stomach. Without a word, I got up, towering over the frail man. I raised a fist, causing Siren to instinctively start echoing his demand.
“Haste, go—”
“Oh, shut the fuck up, Wilbur!” I angrily ripped off my mask, throwing it down on the ground. “It’s fucking me! It’s (y/n), you piece of shit!” I felt the tears threatening to spill out, and for once, I let them. Gradually, they cascaded down my cheek and onto the concrete near where Wil’s foot rested.
“(y-y/n)..?” He asked, barely mustering the courage to go above a whisper. I nodded, my eyes refusing to leave his giant, glossy ones. My heart was pounding against my chest as if it threatened to break out and punch Wilbur in his stupid face.
I didn’t know how to feel. I felt anger, shock, heartache, confusion, and distress all at once. As I was absorbed in my head, I didn’t realize his hand was etching toward mine, quietly wrapping his hand around my index finger as he sooth my knuckles with his thumb. I shook my head and looked at him.
“I— I didn’t know this would happen. I’m sorry— I didn’t know either. Oh God, this is all my fault.” He stumbled through his own trembling words. “Dream is probably on the lookout for you now. Y-You need to kill me! I don’t want you to get in trouble!” He cried. I stepped back, shocked at his pleas.
“Are you fucking kidding me, Wil?! I don’t care that I’m in trouble right now, I need to get you to safety!” I yelled back, frustrated. “Contact your healer— Apollo, was it? I-I could hold back Dream I just need you to make it out here alive.” I drew out my shield again, causing Wil to nearly lunge at my legs. He only groaned in pain as he landed near my feet, but he held on tight to my ankles.
“No, (y/n)! He already saw you save me. He’s going to hurt you—!” Wil clutched at his chest again, hissing out swears. “Please, I’m not going to lose you!” He cried. I looked down at him. My chest tightened at the sight of him desperately pleading for my life, despite his broken ribs and body. I crouched down in front of him to stroke his untamed hair. His heaving slowed down as my fingers soothed him ever so slightly.
I sighed, looking at him. “Consider this my resignation from the Heroes of L’manburg. If I have to be put up against someone that I consider one of my closest friends, then call me a villain or weak, but I would never take your life under any circumstances.”
Wilbur paused in his movements. His grip on me started to loosen as I stepped back. “Again, Wil, contact your healer.” He lifted his head up to face me. Tears were running down his face with the expression of a puppy who got kicked in the stomach. I smiled at him reassuringly. “I’ll see you at the coffee shop next week, okay? I…”
I wanted to say the three words. The words I had been begging to say the moment I realized that I could imagine a future with this man. Instead, I bit my lip and exited out of the alleyway and onto the street.
“Oh, Dream~!” I sang out. “Guess who’s fucking resigning!” I twirled on one foot, flaunting myself as the ultimate distraction. I gritted my teeth and inhaled sharply, finally letting the anger boiling inside of me out.
“COME AT ME YOU SMILEY BITCH!”
Wilbur was sprawled out in the alleyway. His hand shook as he reached to click on his earpiece. Immediately he was met by the worried voice of his brother.
“Siren! Siren, where the fuck are you?!” Apollo shouted.
“I’m in an alleyway a few blocks from where the fight originally was. Dream crushed my ribs and nearly saw my identity.” Wil gasped out.
“Oh, for fucks sake man,” Apollo mumbled. “Okay, I’m turning back around! I’ll see you in a moment!”
“W-Wait,” Wil stuttered. “Get the others too. We’re going to need them.”
“Huh, why?” Apollo asked, concern glossing in his voice. Wil, in turn, chuckled as he flipped his body over. His eyes were fixated on the stars twinkling in the night sky.
“Let’s just say, we have a new supervillain we’ll need help smuggling in.”
