✨Fic Update: In Technicolor—Ch.2: Cruel Youth (Pugsley + Pubert)✨
Tumblr media
Staring out at the oceans of eyes and phones lifted above the bodies with the flash on, I looked down at the words "Kill 'em with Kindness" Pugs had carved into the front of the guitar when he gave it to me. It was our joke. His, Wednesday's, and mine because I was the dove between the three of us yet wrote some of the more fucked up songs in our catalog. Don't throw up, I told myself as I took a deep breath in then exhaled out slowly. Don't throw up. Don't throw up. Don't hit someone in the head. Don't trip over your aux cord. Don't pass out. Don't freeze.
Don't. Don't. DON'T.
There was a sharp ringing in my ears as I looked up. Squinted at the intense light baring down on me washing me in moody violet and deep ocean blue.
What song was I going to open with? Fuck.
I felt like an eternity had passed since I slung my guitar strap over my shoulder and slipped my thumb pick onto my hand but it had only been about half a minute or two.
Then came a pair of familiar eyes.
She was wearing a broken in oversized Ramones shirt that had been washed so many time the black cotton had turned dark gray. Blonde hair down to her shoulders with the ends tinted pink and eyes so wide they'd make a full moon look small, I didn't know the girl at all but I'd seen her before. I knew I had. Couldn't place it in my head in that moment but I knew her.
Smiling a little, awkward and lopsided, when she smiled at me first from across the room I may not know her name but I was going to find out by the end of the night.
.
.
.
Okay, so chapters 2 and 3 are already out but I wanted to post the teasers with their moodboards because I worked hard on them and I think they’re pretty so yeah. lol. And if you didn’t know that the chapters are out, now you do! Enjoy! 💜

Choni FanFic Update
Oh, the thrill of control - Chapter Three is live on Ao3!!
Happy pride month to all the LGBTQIA+ people still delving into the Riverdale fandom. I didn’t plan it this way, but I’m happy that my latest Choni FanFic update falls right on the beginning of Pride Month. Hopefully I can dedicate more time to this fic, because I’d love to have it completed in the next few weeks!
Choni fans in my inbox and Ao3 comments, this one’s for you! THANKYOU for your patience, and to anyone who hasn’t yet read this fic, I hope you enjoy it!
Tumblr media
Synopsis:
Cheryl and Toni have been together for years. They survived Riverdale, survived college, and are living out their first year of educational freedom by each other’s side.
But Toni wants nothing more than to return to Riverdale and help rebuild her community. And Cheryl… hopes she never has to step foot in that wretched place again.
Can their relationship survive the physical and emotional distance?
Chapter Three sneak peek below:
Toni had absolutely no intention of taking Polly up on her offer.
And yet…
On Friday night, she took a shot of Bourbon and settled into her couch with a mission in mind: Texting Cheryl.
She decided to keep it simple. Polly told me that Penelope ran off.
Cheryl took several minutes to respond. Toni jerked when her text tone rang in her ears. She removed her tracker.
Toni took another shot before she responded. Do you want me to go look for her?
Almost fifteen minutes passed before Cheryl responded again. I appreciate the offer, but she isn’t your problem anymore. I’ll deal with my heinous birth giver.
It was with extremely mixed feelings that Toni set her phone on top of her coffee table. It was a run-down, worn out wooden thing she’d picked up at the thrift store, with scratched out initials on one of the legs. And yet Toni loved its rustic, vintage vibe; even if it did wobble whenever she set her feet atop it.
This was the first conversation she’d had with Cheryl in months. And it was about Penelope Blossom of all people.

31, 34, 35 re: fic writer ask because you fascinate me! 😇❤️🫣
Thank you so much, hun, for the lovely ask!!! I appreciate you talking to me!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰
31. Of the characters you write for, which is your favorite? Has that choice been swayed at all by your followers/readers’ reactions to certain ones?
Hmmmm….for Euphoria, probably Ash, and for Riverdale—the first fandom I started writing fic for (mind you, I read fic for a loooooooooooonnnng time before I ever wrote any, although I wrote original fic years before that)—I would say Cheryl Blossom. In both cases, I’d mostly for the same reason—they’re both such unhinged characters in a lot of ways that you can give them the most outrageous, funny, sarcastic lines. It helps me integrate humor into my stories in a way, that, as a smut writer, I may not always feel fits for my main characters. 🙂 As for has reader response swayed those choices, I don’t think so? I definitely appreciate it though when someone tells me a line or a scene I’ve given to them made the reader laugh or that it stuck with them though! 🤗🤗🤗
34. How much of yourself and your life experiences do you put into your writing? What do you think your readers’ image of you is?
Hahaha. I’d say I definitely put a lot of my life experiences into my stories. I’ve had a lot of really crazy, varied life experience, so there’s A LOT for me to draw on with my writing. (Which I like to believe helps my stories resonate with people???? 🥺🥺) I think the closest I’ve really come to putting myself in my writing would be in my most recent fic for the Good Girls fandom where one of the minor characters JT goes on a rant about all the stupid shit that’s gonna get one of Rio’s front operations flagged for money laundering. I didn’t have to go so hard on that, but a lottttttttt of that was definitely my personal mission to civilize. 😂😂😂 As for what do I think readers’ image of me is—I know this is gonna seem like a cop out—but honestly, I’m pretty shocked to find out people think of me *at all*. My parents divorced when I was super young (but they were good about joint custody), which meant that I often wasn’t around during weekends/school breaks/summers—not to mention, my mom shipped me overseas in the summers when I was in middle school to stay with my nana & great-aunt. So, basically, people got used to me never being around to do things, so that when I **WAS** actually around, no one actually thought to invite me. Lol. Which is all to say, I don’t really expect my readers think about me all that much. 🤷🏼‍♀️ (This is also why I get so excited when people take the time to send me asks and stuff! It’s like, “Yay!!!! A person wants to talk to me!!!!”)
35. How much has writing fic changed your life?
It’s definitely helped me find community, for sure. Plus, I’ve always been someone who’s used creative writing as an outlet when I’ve been dealing with shit, and this past year especially (with all my daughter’s health stuff), I’ve needed that outlet more than ever. Fic writing is one of the few things I do purely for myself and it’s such a source of positive reinforcement. It’s truly reinvigorating for the soul. (I cannot emphasize enough the, at times, desperately needed serotonin boost those AO3 “you have a comment” emails & the comments therein have given me this past year!!!) 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Thank you so much for the ask, doll!!! I hope you’re having a terrific weekend!!!!

Title: Effusive Fandom: Riverdale Characters: Cheryl Blossom x Reader Word Count: 1,113 Warnings: None Notes: Request from anon for “your Cheryl fics are really good, you’re a phenomenal writer. I actually have a prompt: the reader is such a great friend/partner to Cheryl, they’re always there for her without wanting anything in return and Cheryl isn’t used to someone caring for her so much So she always buys the reader expensive as hell gifts because she’s so appreciative of everything they do for her. And then the reader is like, ‘you really don’t need to give me these expensive gifts, I just like being with you.’” // Thank you so much, sweet anon. ♥
Tumblr media
You knew before ever dating Cheryl that being with her would be different from any other relationship you’d had, but you hadn’t realized just how different it’d be.
All previous relationships of yours had been a bit shit, even though you were the best significant other that you could be. It made you fearful that things with Cheryl would turn out the same way, but not fearful enough to keep yourself from agreeing to go out with her when she so confidently asked you. (That had been a substantial shock all on its own; you’d nearly fainted on the spot when the most gorgeous girl you’d ever seen asked you out for dinner and a movie many months ago.)
Now, however, you knew that your fears had been all for naught. Not only did you love Cheryl more than you’d ever loved anyone else, but she loved you just as much – and she absolutely relished your affection. She came to you with anything and everything on her mind: the good, the bad, and the ugly. Everything from the new pair of shoes she was going to order, to her problems resulting from the lack of love from her parents – she always told you about it all.
What she loved the most was that you always genuinely listened to her and cared about what she had to say. Regardless of whether you couldn’t care less about the particular kind of fabric that was on the latest dress she’d bought, or some other typically mundane subject, you always listened intently, asking questions and making comments when applicable. And when it came to the heavier stuff, you were even more attentive. You let her complain, yell, cry – whatever it was she needed to get it off her chest, all without ever batting an eye. When she was through, you’d console her, pulling her into a tight hug and wiping away her tears, before kissing her forehead and reminding her that you love her.
Cheryl loved you more than anyone in the world. But being that she was from a mostly loveless family, she didn’t know how to express that to you. No one had ever taught her how to show another person that she cares about them and appreciates them. So, she did the only thing she knew how to do: buy you things.
The gifts started off small. Things would mysteriously appear in your locker, such as a teddy bear holding a heart with yours and Cheryl’s named embroidered on it, or your favorite candy. Eventually, however, the gifts became more and more lavish. The teddy bears you would receive would now hold VIP tickets to your favorite band’s show, or you’d come home to find a box of clothes from your favorite high-end store setting on your bed. The latest gift was a beautiful ring, which held yours and Cheryl’s birthstones, that had laid in the center of a bouquet of roses that were delivered to you.
If you didn’t know any better, you’d think that Cheryl was attempting to buy your love – but she already had it. Still, the thought that she didn’t understand how much you genuinely cared for you was one that concerned you. Did she think she had to buy you these things in order for you to continue loving her? Or was it simply because she wanted to?
You finally worked up the courage to ask her about it one day during a study session at her house.
You had been fiddling with the ring on your finger, turning it and watching how the birthstones caught the light of her desk lamp, when the question came tumbling from your lips before you could even stop yourself.
“Cheryl, why do you buy me all of these things?”
She looked at you with a puzzled expression, before a small smile formed on her red lips.
“Because I love you, silly.”
“I know that, I just… wanted to make sure that you weren’t trying to buy my love or something.”
The way her smile dropped a bit told you that you had guessed correctly. You frowned at her, and moved to sit next to her on the lush bed, taking both of her hands in yours. Cheryl avoided eye contact, looking down at your hands. You pressed a kiss to her knuckles, but she still wouldn’t meet your gaze.
“Cheryl, I love you more than I’ve ever loved anything or anyone. And that’s not going to change. You don’t need to buy me expensive gifts to ensure that. As much as I love and appreciate the presents, I love spending time with you way more. You’re more priceless than any jewel you could ever give me.”
You thought she might cry for a moment, especially after you heard a faint sniffle. She shook her head slightly, her red hair swaying around her.
“My biggest fear is losing you. I’m scared that if I don’t show you how much I love you, as often as I can, then you won’t keep loving me,” Cheryl admitted, and your frown deepened.
“Look at me,” you said softly, but still, her eyes evaded yours. Gently, you tilted her chin up so that she had to look at you. Her eyes glistened slightly, and her lips formed a pout.
“Nothing is going to stop me from loving you, Cheryl Blossom. I’ll love you till the day I die – regardless of whether you give me expensive gifts. And you don’t have to give me stuff to show me that you love me. Just telling me that you love me is more than enough. Or even just writing a nice note, bringing me my favorite donuts in the morning, or other small things like that. It doesn’t have to cost anything at all for me to be reminded that you love me. Alright?”
She nodded a bit, “Alright.”
“Come here,” you murmured, and she immediately moved into your embrace, resting her head on your shoulder and sniffling a bit.
The two of you stayed like that for a bit, one hand still holding hers while the other rubbed circles on her back. The silence was peaceful, but Cheryl was the first to break it.
“So…. You’re still okay with me buying you concert tickets, right?”
“Oh, absolutely,” you replied instantly, earning a giggle from her, which brought a smile to your face. Her laughter died down, but you knew without looking that she was still grinning.
“Hey,” you whispered, after the silence had returned a few minutes.
“Hmm?” Cheryl responded, tracing delicate circles on the back of your hand with her nails.
“I love you.”
“I love you, too.”

31 Days of Halloween (Day 19)
Costume Contest
Prompt: Costume
Sweet Pea x Reader
                                    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
“Okay, but I have to be honest here,” Sweet Pea started as the two of you walked up the pathway.
“What?” You asked.
“We are rocking these costumes and we are so going to win,” Sweet Pea said.
You laughed. “We did kill it this year,”
“I do love us upping our game every year,” Sweet Pea admitted with a grin.
“I hope we win again,” You said.
“No, I’m just hoping to put Cheryl and Toni to shame again,” Sweet Pea teased and you laughed.
The two of you walked into the house. The party was in full swing. You held onto his hand tightly as he dragged you through the party. Betty and Jughead were over by the snack table dressed as Gomez and Morticia. Archie and Veronica were dancing and they definitely stood out as Jack and Sally.
“Hey! You guys look great,” Fangs grinned.
Fangs was dressed as Danny Zuko. You gave Fangs a hug.
“Where are Toni and Cheryl?” Sweet Pea asked.
“Scoping out the competition?” Fangs asked with a laugh.
“There is no competition. Y/n and I have won for the past two years,” Sweet Pea said.
“And now it’s mine and Toni’s turn to denounce the two of you and became the Halloween Queens,” Cheryl said from behind you.
You rolled your eyes.
“Everybody needs to calm down, honestly, it’s not that serious,” You said.
Sweet Pea and Cheryl looked so offended.
“Sorry, I have to agree with Y/n on this one,” Toni said.
“The two of you have no taste,” Cheryl scoffed.
You and Toni both laughed. The two of you turned from your significant others to hug each other. Toni and Cheryl were respectfully dressed up as Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn. Kevin interrupted the party to call for all of the couples to come forward for the contest. Toni winked at you.
“Good luck,” Toni said
“You too,” You laughed before Sweet Pea dragged you away.
“As you can see everyone is dressed to the T tonight,” Kevin said.
You gripped Sweet Pea’s hand tightly.
“If we don’t win please don’t be upset,” You whispered.
Sweet Pea kissed you softly. “Don’t worry I’ll be on my best behavior,”
“Yeah, we’ll see about that,” You teased.
“Okay, everyone the winner of the Couple’s Costume is,” Kevin trailed off in anticipation.
“The iconic Beetlejuice and Lydia in the stunning red wedding dress, worn by the reigning champs, Sweet Pea and Y/n!” Kevin announced.
Sweet Pea let out the biggest scream of pure victory. You and Toni busted out laughing as the others cheered and clapped. Cheryl stormed off the stage.
“Maybe next year Ms. Bombshell!” Sweet Pea yelled out after her.
You elbowed him and he grunted.
“You know she’ll kill you,” You said.
“Don’t worry I’ll calm her down,” Toni said with a wink before walking off.
Sweet Pea twirled you a few times and then pulled you off the stage. The music kicked up again and it was a slow song. It was your song to be exact so the two of you fell into a slow dance. You loved moments like this and you loved being in his arms even more.

Chapter 1 | Chapter 2 | Chapter 3 | Chapter 4 | Chapter 5
**flashback**
“I think we have a longer extension cord in the basement” Cheryl says from her position leaning on the wall. “That way we don’t have to reconfigure the whole design”
Toni nods and stands up from where she was crouched under one of the cribs, the other one is still in pieces on the floor but at least they’re making progress. They still had a couple months but Cheryl being her typical in control self had insisted they get the nursery all set up and ready as soon as possible. The room still smells faintly of fresh paint, Toni had finished the mural on the wall a couple days ago and whenever Cheryl glances at it a smile crosses her face. The background is a swirl of dreamy blues and deep greens with hints of bright colours poking through. There are various animals littered throughout the landscape  interacting with one another. A tiger prowling in the background, a group of zebras drinking from a river and colourful birds soaring above it all are just some of the creatures. Cheryl’s favourite is the elephant with a monkey sitting on its trunk eating a banana. The words “the world is yours” are painted in cursive writing at the top, both a reminder to her and the future of her twins. Cheryl turns her attention to another section of the wall where the cribs are going to be once they’re both built, the walls here carry on with the jungle theme and clouds are painted above where the babies names will be painted in, they’re blank right now since the couple is still in the deciding phase.
“Cher?” Toni says again causing her wife to snap out of her daze. “Everything ok?”
“Yeah babe, just thinking about how our lives are about to change. Taking it all in”
“I get that” she replies, she comes up to Cheryl from behind her and wraps her arms around her before pressing a kiss to her cheek. The couple stand there for a moment, letting the silence settle in and enjoying the calm while they can. Cheryl can feel Toni rubbing her belly in gentle even strokes and she hums happily.
***
“Is this the part where I finally find out why you’ve banished me from the nursery for days?”
“Yes, now shut up and close your eyes”
“Hey now that’s no way to talk to your pregnant wife” Cheryl retorts and she lets her eyes flutter shut and reaches out for Toni’s hand. She’s lead slowly through the hallway and towards the nursery.
“Okay aanaand… open!” Toni says, she’s trying to keep her excitement at an acceptable level but she can feel herself beaming as Cheryl slowly opens her eyes and takes in her surroundings.
The room has completely transformed since the last time she saw it, for one both the cribs are complete and moved into their spots against the wall. But the walls which had previously just been blank or covered with a simple pattern were now transformed into an underwater theme, with fish and turtles and seahorses swimming among the seaweed and coral reefs. One side of the room remained as a jungle theme, the way Cheryl had last seen it but Toni had worked her magic and transformed the other side into the ocean. Cheryl smiles, tears coming to her eyes as she repeatedly tells Toni how much she loves the room and her.
“I knew you couldn’t decide between the two… so I figured why not make it both?” She leans in and pulls Cheryl against her lips, kissing her deeply.
-
Toni sits beside Veronica, her head resting on her shoulder as she takes deep breaths. She’s doing her absolute best to stay calm while the doctors help Cheryl and their baby girl but she’s starting to get increasingly upset and angry that no one has even so much as been out to update her yet. It’s been almost 30 minutes.
“I remember when I found out Cheryl was pregnant” Veronica says suddenly, she laughs a little to herself as she recalls the memory. “She was so upset it didn’t go according to plan. That I found out before because of her throwing up into a mall garbage can”
“Oh god” Toni says, she reaches up to wipe her face with the sleeve of her sweater. “I swear she had it planned out from the moment she found out she was pregnant. Typical Cheryl always planning down to the last detail”
“What exactly was her plan? She never actually told me.”
“Well I have to hand it to her because it was actually a pretty good idea. I tried to convince her to just do a cute card or something but that didn’t fly of course, it was ‘lacking flame’ as she so elegantly put it.”
“Yeah that sure sounds like Cheryl” Veronica laughs lightly shaking her head at the thought of the pair arguing over the topic.
“It was pretty simple though. She was just going to invite you over for dinner and drop subtle hints all night and see how long it took you to pick up on it.”
“Oh my god!” Veronica replies “please tell me she would have said something about buns in the oven”
“Yes!” Toni says, laughter escaping her lips. “That was the first one she came up with, and then every time she thought of a new one she would go ‘aha that’s brilliant’ and write it down”
“That’s too good oh my god, kinda sad I didn’t get to witness Cheryl cracking off pregnancy jokes”
“Oh trust me she was upset, came home crying and everything. I thought something was seriously wrong and when she told me I had to stop myself from rolling my eyes at her. Such a drama queen”
“Excuse me?” The doctor suddenly says from beside them. “I hate to interrupt, but Cheryl is out of surgery. She’s doing really well”
“And the baby?” Toni and Veronica say in almost perfect unison.
“A happy and healthy baby girl. Your son is doing well too” He says smiling. Toni let’s out a loud sigh of relief and can already feel tears of joy forming in her eyes. “Feel free to go see them anytime, same room as before”
-
**flashback**
Toni runs her finger over the thick glass of the picture frame, when she pulls it away there’s a visible streak in the glass and her finger has a thin layer of grime and dust on it. She blows on her finger softly and watches the dust particles float through the air. A smile forms on her lips as she focuses her gaze back on the photo, it’s a picture of Uktena tribe her grandfather was a part of. Her grandfather was just a baby back then, there’s years of history in these photos. She puts it down and picks up another photo from the box that’s just of her grandfather. Thomas. He’s older this time and holding a jacket with the Southside Serpents logo on it. There’s a huge grin painted on his face, he was the founder of the serpents and together they gave Toni a family from a very young age. It’s been years since her grandfather died but she still feels her heart swell at the photo and tears starting to form in her eyes and she rifles through the box of his things.
“Toni?” She hears her wife call faintly, but she’s so lost in her own thoughts and emotions that she forgets to reply. “Where are you?”
Cheryl had just gotten home from clothing shopping with Veronica, because leave it to her to ensure the twins would be elegantly dressed before they’re even born. She walks slowly around the house checking each room before she finds the stairs to the attic open. She calls her wife’s name again but doesn’t get a response so she slowly climbs the stairs one at a time which is challenging with her ever-growing round belly. Toni is sitting on the floor of the attic surrounded by articles, books and photographs, the pale light of the attic is shining down on her and illuminating strands of her brunette hair sticking to her tear soaked cheeks. Her body is shaking slightly and she jumps when Cheryl reaches to lay a hand on her shoulder.
“Sorry, I just... I was distracted. I just came up here to get the box for the nursery.” she says quickly, reaching up to wipe her cheeks of tears.
“Thomas, right? Your grandfather.” Cheryl asks, her eyes roaming the ground and taking in the contents Toni has spread all over the attic floor. Toni nods in response, reaching to dust off yet another photograph. Cheryl lowers herself ever so slowly to the ground and leans heavily against the wall, she opens her arms and Toni immediately moves and curls into her side making sure to wrap her arm firmly around Cheryl’s stomach. “Tell me about him.”
“He was the best Cher. Thomas Theodore Topaz. Triple T as the Serpents liked to call him. He was a founding member of the serpents and he loved me like no one else. He was the first of my family members to really accept me for who I am, mainly the fact that I like girls. My uncle… well, you know. I really looked up to my grandpa, he was strong and stood up for what he believed in.” Toni pauses to take a deep breath, she’s started to cry again without meaning to. “I miss him…”
“I didn’t know him, but I know he would be so proud of how far you’ve come.” Cheryl soothes, she kisses Toni’s head gently and pulls her tighter against her body. Toni collapses further into new wife and feels a wave of emotions come over her even stronger than before, she sobs into Cheryl’s body.
“I love you, I love you so fucking much baby girl” Cheryl soothes, she runs her fingers through Toni’s hair and presses multiple kisses to her head to help her calm down. “I know how much it hurts, just let it out.”
Cheryl rocks Toni gently in her arms despite the fact it’s making her back ache, she closes her eyes and holds her wife as close as she possibly can and let’s her cry out all the tears she has stored for what seems like years. The attic creaks softly around them and the dust and papers flutter slightly when a breeze comes in through the open window but in a way it’s soothing. Cheryl’s eyes open and land on the photo of the tribe that Toni had found earlier, the edges are yellow and the photo is fraying at the edges so she can tell it’s been well loved. There’s at-least a dozen of them in the photo, including a man holding a tiny little infant. Some of the members are smiling and some looks serious and Cheryl wonders what the circumstance of the photo being taken was. She’s pulled from her trance when Toni speaks up softly against her.
“Grandpa is the little baby in that photo. I just.. wish there was a way for me to honour him”
“You are, by remembering him and the legacy he left behind”
“I know but I mean more so than that, he had and continues to have such an impact on my life even though he’s gone”
“Well…” Cheryl trails off, her eyes flickering to Toni’s hand resting on her rounded belly. She reaches up and wipes the tears off Toni’s face before continuing. “What about naming our son after him?”
“Really? I thought we talked about naming him after Jason, which I am 100% on board for by the way”
“Well then it’s a good thing we get to choose two names each for the babies, hey? Jason can be his middle name” Cheryl smiles down at her wife, Toni has a serious look on her face as she takes in the info. She tries to argue but Cheryl is insistent, she knows how important and meaningful this is to Toni. “These are our children, our family. And I’d be honoured to have our son named after someone so special in your life”
“I couldn’t ask for a better partner or someone to spend my life with” Toni says, her voice is shaking but Cheryl can still hear the meaning behind it.
“You make me the happiest girl in the world” Cheryl replies, leaning down to kiss Toni gently on the lips. “Now please help me up and to the kitchen, I’m starving.”
Toni snorts loudly in response as she pulls away from the kiss. “Well c’mon my lady, I wouldn’t want to keep you or your belly waiting any longer” she stands and offers her hand to Cheryl as elegantly as possible and together the pair make their way downstairs.
-
Toni walks into the room slowly despite her strong need to see and hold her wife, she feels nervous all of the sudden for reasons she can’t exactly pinpoint but she’s determined to keep herself together for Cheryl’s sake. She turns the handle and a smile easily comes to her face when she see’s her wife laying in the bed sleeping lightly, the babies are no where to be seen right now but Toni assumes the doctors will bring them in soon. When she reaches Cheryl’s side she leans in to press a soft kiss to her temple which causes her to shift and blink her eyes open to the world, she mouths a silent hello and pats the open space beside her. Toni climbs in carefully and the pair entwine themselves as close as possible.
“You did it princess, you did so good” Toni whispers against her, pressing a kiss against her temple.
“I want.. to.. hold… our babies..” Cheryl says, her voice still laced with sleep, she’s on pretty heavy pain meds which are making her even more drowsy than she would usually be.
“Me too love, I can go find the doctor” she’s about to pull away to track down where her children are when the doctor walks in with a couple nurses trailing behind  holding two warm bundles in their arms. Cheryl perks up immediately when she clues in to what is happening, next thing they know the twins are thrust into their arms and the couple is overcome with emotion. Toni looks over at Cheryl with tears streaming down her face only to find out her wife is crying just as hard. With the twins being newborn its hard to tell who they’ll resemble more as they grow but Toni swears she can see the same slope of Cheryl’s nose in their daughter and their son has slightly darker skin resembling her own. Their son is wide eyed and taking in the world, a small smile forms on his face when his gaze lands on Toni’s face and a small, happy, little coo comes from his mouth.
“Welcome to the family my little loves” Cheryl says gently, she’s holding their daughter close to her chest and stroking her cheek gently with one finger as she sleeps soundly.
“We did this Cher, they are so tiny and precious. Our little family”
There’s a soft knock at the door and the unmistakable click of Veronica’s heels. “Can I come say hi?” She questions gently, peaking her head into the doorway, she walks in further when Cheryl and Toni nod in unison.
“Ronnie, meet Theodore Jason and Kaya Rose.”
“Theodore after my grandpa” Toni chimes in.
“What about Kaya? It sounds Native American”
“It is!” Cheryl says, confirming Veronica’s guess. “We struggled picking a name for our baby girl, but the Indigenous peoples are an important part of our history - especially Toni’s. So we decided to derive a name from that and we loved the fact that Kaya means little but wise”
“It’s a gorgeous name. And of course Jason, a perfect homage to him”
Cheryl nods slowly, biting her lip gently. “I wish he was here to meet them, he would have been a great uncle”
“He’s not here, but I know that somehow he knows and he’s so proud of you babe” Toni soothes, she finds Cheryls free hand with hers and gives it a gentle squeeze. “One day we can tell our children about the powerful and important people they’re named after”
“Do you want to hold her?” Cheryl asks Veronica, steering the conversation away from talk of her brother. They pass the baby carefully and Veronica bounces her gently in her arms as she paces around the room. Cheryl turns onto her side carefully and rests her head on Toni’s shoulder before turning her attention to her son, she reaches out aiming to stroke his cheek but he grabs her finger and wraps his tiny little fingers around it in a tight grasp. “Hello Theo, welcome to the big wide world”
Toni smiles down at the pair and takes in the moment, part of her still can’t believe this is her life. The road here has been anything but smooth, but she wouldn’t change a single thing because it all ended her here surrounded by so much happiness and love. Her heart feels like its bursting, who knew two little people could make her heart so full. And as she feels Cheryl start to drift off against her body she thanks the universe for everything that lead her to this moment. It’s more than she ever could have imagined for herself.

Tour of the Heart: Chapter 10
chapter 9/masterpost/chapter 11
let us know if you wanna be tagged!
The lights went down, and the stadium deflated with them. First concert of the tour, Madison Square Garden, and it was over and done. Arch and Veronica waved at their fans one last time before slipping backstage. It had been proposed for them to do a stage-door sort of thing after this concert, but right then and there Archie was glad it had been shot down. He was too tired to do anything but lunge for his water bottle. This was nuts, this was crazy. Thousands of people had just sung along to his song, at one of the world’s biggest venues, and no, it wasn’t a dream.
Jughead had been waiting backstage for oh, the whole show. There wasn’t a seat reserved for him—just the local press, apparently. Veronica’s manager, who was clearly used to dealing with people with a lot more money than he had, reassured him that he’d have front row seats to every concert after this. Jug did not mind, mainly because his spot near the backdrop gave him a great view of Archie’s er, behind. Plus, he could con Cheryl into giving him concert tickets anytime he wanted.
Now that the concert was over, Archie and Veronica both made a beeline for backstage, exhausted and sweaty. Jughead watched, perhaps a bit too intently, as Archie took long gulps from his water bottle, trying and failing to not think dirty thoughts. Once Arch finished, his attention turned, inexplicably, to Jughead. Figuring that this was probably going to be some bro-ritual, Jughead stuck out his hand for a handshake. Archie gave him a bear hug.
He was warm, and definitely sweaty, but that didn’t stop Jughead from closing his eyes and trying to capture this moment in his memory forever. Because he’d never really understood the meaning of showbuzz before—and that was what it had to be, not something as dumb and cliche as love in the air— and Jughead could feel the life, the energy pulsing through Archie. It spread to him too, getting Jug almost drunk on the feeling. A thousand times better than being high.
Archie separated from him, and Jughead stammered out a “Good show, Arch,” whilst trying to retain his composure.
“I know, right. That was wild, there were just so many people. Did you see the lights? They lit up the whole stadium, man, everybody had one. They loved us. They loved me, they loved Ronnie, I’m sure that if you’d’ve been up there, they would have loved you too.” He looked at Jughead with such intensity, so genuine and honest, and Jug felt something inside of him melt.
“I can’t even sing, I don’t know why they would, um, love, me,” Jughead said, feeling the heat rising to his cheeks. Archie’s were already flushed with exertion, he’d been jumping all around on that stage for hours, like the Energizer bunny.
“They would. I promise you, they would. Anyways, speaking of love, I’ve been wanting to point this out all week.” Archie spun Jughead around by the shoulders and pointed at Veronica and Cheryl. He bounced up and down, practically buzzing with excitement. “She’s on Cheryl’s lap.”
Jughead nodded, still caught up in Archie’s bubble of showbuzz. “Where are you going with this?”
Arch spun him back around, so that they were face-to-face, with a little less than a foot between them. “I know Cheryl is a good friend of yours, and I know you’re not blind. There’s something there.”
“Okay.” He was so close Jughead could smell the gunpowder from the pyrotechnics, a scent he hadn’t properly noticed before.
“So, as their solemn and devoted friends and tour-bus-mates, we—” He gestured at the space between him and Jughead “— have to make sure they get together. I bet you’ve seen them flirting before, the way they’re always making plans.”
“But they’re both equally oblivious and might need a nudge or two from us?” Jughead said, a smile spreading across his face. The idea of doing anything with Archie made his stomach start playing jump-rope with his intestines, but in a good way.
“Yeah,” Archie said, holding on to Jughead’s gaze. It felt like nothing else ever existed, they were in a bubble that was just the two of them. For a second, Jughead contemplated leaning in, wondering what it would feel like to have—
“Afterparty time, gentlemen!” Veronica called from her perch atop Cheryl’s lap. “It is time to get smashed and regret it tomorrow, and unfortunately Cheryl can’t come with us, but I’m sure Jughead here can supply the life of the par-tay!”
“I don’t know about that,” Jughead said, still full of thoughts about Archie. It was enough for Veronica and Cheryl, and enough for everyone else who was coming along. Cheryl said farewell to Veronica, disappearing into the night, and Jughead thought that he was very lucky to be spending tonight in the company of Archie Andrews.

To the Moon and Back
rating: teen
pairing: cheryl and toni,,, choni
words: 6918
summary: toni topaz was cheryl’s best friend until she wasn’t, until she ruined what they had, but now she had to face toni everyday in the hell hole that was highschool
a/n: flash back in quotes,,, TW: implied abuse, slight homophobia,,,,, can find it on ao3 here
Cheryl stared at her old friend as the stood off in front of the whole school. She couldn’t tell you how they went from best friends to enemies but they did. So now it was them but they weren’t laughing like they used to or enjoying each other's company. No, now it was Serpent and Queen Bee fighting it out for who went to the school.
Except it didn’t feel that way to Cheryl at all. It felt like it was just the two of them, staring into each other’s eyes without so much as a word. Time was still. One of those moments where time was frozen and the camera was movie threw all the body. But it wasn’t like that, because they weren’t in some show. This was real life and she had to fight back and not stare into the Serpent’s enamouring eyes, memories flooding her brain in the moment of the same eyes.
“Hey Cheryl?” The young Toni asked, looking to the up at her best friend. They were by the river, that was were they went to get away from everything that happened. Just laying there together, it was everything that Cheryl always needed to make her feel better.
The young redhead glanced down at the other young teenager. “Yeah, Cha Cha?” She asked quietly, using the nickname she had been using for the six years she had known the girl. It came out so quietly because she didn’t want to interrupt the quiet moment to end yet.
She didn’t want to think about how she had to go back to her mother and explain why there was dirt stains on her dress again. The redhead’s mother had forbid their friendship from the beginning, but that didn’t stop them from seeing each other. Actually the first time they didn’t see each other everyday was when Cheryl had just turned twelve and her mother found out they were still friends.
It was an awful four months but they found their way back to each other in the end, so a year later they could be sitting her. Cheryl staring down at her best friend with a soft smile as she tried to decide what she was going to say. “We’re always going to be friends, right? You’ll alway love me?” Her best friend asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
The redhead rarely got to see this side of Toni, even if she was her best friend. The yet to be snake was always trying to show a tough exterior and be more like her father and grandfather. Yet, Cheryl always knew when she was hurting or worried or concerned, even if they were so young.
“Yeah, I’ll always love you, Cha Cha.” She told her, running a hand through Toni’s surprisingly soft hair. Cheryl knew that no matter what happened she would love this girl for as long as she was alive, but there was a part of her screamed that it was wrong. The girl didn’t understand why it was wrong until a years later.
Snapping out of the moment of the memory from just five years ago Cheryl glared at Toni, snapping something or the other about her not belonging there. She wasn’t listening to what she was saying, she just wanted to get as far away from Toni as possible.
Once the encounter ended the redhead had tried to avoid the snake the best that she could, doing a pretty good job at it to. Everytime she entered a room that even had someone close to her ex-bestfriend she turned right back around.
Cheryl managed to do this for a while, in fact it was nearly three weeks since the Serpents had invaded her school that she had another encountered with the person she had tried so hard to avoid. Which didn’t make her very pleased but Toni has firmly grabbed her arm and pulled them into an empty hallway.
“Are you okay?” She asked concerned, which was the last thing the redhead has expected out of the Serpent. In fact after what she did to her all those years ago she was surprised the girl didn’t just punch her and get it over with. It threw her off more though because the last person to show her concern was Veronica and that was after everything that happened to her brother.
Staring at her for a few second the rich and hurting girl tried to think of some response that she could pull off to make it seem like she was okay, when she was anything but. In fact the concern made her less okay, breaking her heart at the sound of it. “I’m as okay as ever!” She said, giving the Serpent a tight grin.
Toni sighed and rolled her eyes at the person she used to tell everything to. “No, you aren’t.” She decided, clearly not taking yes for the answer and wanting the truth from Cheryl. “Clearly you’re in a lot of pain.”
Biting on her lip the redhead stared at the other girl, trying to think of some kind of reply to what was being said to her. There was no one around so if she wanted to could confine in the snake in front of her, but she couldn’t. Not after what she did to the person in front of her.
Cheryl looked up from where she was sobbing in bed at the smaller but older girl coming into her room from the window. It had taken years for her best friend to master getting into her room without getting injured, but she had to after she was caught sneaking in from the front door.
Giving her a concerned look Toni rushed over to the redhead, pulling her into a tight hug the second that a part of her body hit the other girl’s bed. “Hey, what happened?” She asked softly, running a hand through Cheryl’s dark red hair.
The redhead merely looked up at her with a soft whimper, more sobs threatening to fall down her pale cheek. She couldn’t get anything out, in fear that someone besides Toni would hear her. Being only thirteen years old she had no idea how to tell these things to her best friend let alone anyone.
“I’m fine…” She managed to get out, her voice cracking as she did so. It was an obvious lie but most people would take it for an answer, not wanting to deal with an emotional kid. Maybe Toni would finally do the same thing and finally leave Cheryl. The redhead had been preparing herself for the girl to leave for the last few months. To be able to survive with just her brother again.
Rolling her eyes Toni let out a small sigh and ran her hand through the girl’s hair again. “No, you aren't. Clearly you’re in a lot of pain.” She told her, not knowing that she would use those exact words years later. Except it would be in an entirely different situation then the one they were in now.
Cheryl let out another small whimper, snuggling into the side of her best friend. She needed the comfort more than she knew. “Just hold me.” She whispered against Toni’s chest. They were too young for Cheryl to be in so much pain, to need to beg someone just to hold her and love her.  She was and she would never be old enough to need to do this. Yet it kept happening for years after this.
Kissing the top of the crying girl’s hair Toni nodded slowly. Even with being six month older she knew that this wasn’t something that the girl should need, and it absolutely destroyed her seeing her best friend this way.
Shaking her head she glared at the Serpent and the words she had said to her. It felt like everytime she talked to this girl that a different memory flooded back to her. What made it worse was that everytime the memory got more painful then the previous memory.
“Feel free to tremble.” The redhead replied, giving her another tight grin she shoved past the girl. She had the perfect opportunity to have the Serpent back her life and she just ruined it, but she couldn’t now. Not now when her only goal was to kick the Serpent’s out of her school and not now that she was on top of the school.
Cheryl could almost sense the smirk that was taking over Toni’s face as she walked away but she didn’t care. She took a deep breath before flipping her red curls over her shoulder and walking back into the busy hallway. She knew that no one had saw the two of them so she had no troubles putting on the act of Toni being the worst thing to happen to her.
Except she was wrong, someone had seen the two of them and she wouldn’t know that until after her next encounter with the pink haired Serpent. This one was short, quick, fast, just a small set of insults while passing in the hall.
That one action led to Kevin taking a seat next to her in the student lounge a two period looks. “So you and Toni? Tell me everything.” He stated, which caused Cheryl to look up from her phone with a bored look at her friend.
She liked Kevin, sure, but there was only one person who knew everything that happened between her and Toni and that person was dead. “There’s nothing to tell, Kev.” The redhead stated, looking back down at her phone again. She just wanted out of the conversation not wanting to say anything about the all to familiar pink haired snake.
Kevin rolled his eyes and turned to face her fully, taking her phone away. “Come on there’s so much sexual and past tension between you guys I could cut it with a knife.” He told her, wiggling his eyebrows at the redhead. The boy was the only who could see it but that’s because everyone else in this town had every explanation that wasn’t they’re gay.
Freezing at that Cheryl ignored the memory that was eager to spring to her memory and make its way to the front of her mind. This was one that she refused to let surface. One that would ruin her. One that she could never come back from remembering. “We’re enemies, we’re going to have some sexual tension.”
He laughed at that and gave Cheryl her phone back. It was clear he wasn’t going to get anything out of her so he’d just question her when she was drunk at the next party that was bound to be thrown. “Well you two should just fuck already.”
“Thank for the advice. I’ll make sure to keep that in mind.” She said sarcasm dripping from her tone as she rolled her eyes at him. That would happen when pig fly and that was never going to happen so it was obvious her and Toni were never going to happen.
Hearing the bell ring Cheryl stood up and gave Kevin a quick peck on the top of the head. “I’ll see you around, Kev.” Normally she wouldn’t show any affection towards the boy especially in public but it was her way of her saying thank you without actually saying the words.
Despite the occasional comment from Kevin here and there Cheryl manages to miraculously avoid the topic of Toni and the girl herself for a sold month. Although all good things eventually come to an end and the girl ran into the Serpent for the first time outside of school since the drag race.
It was her fault for enjoying the feeling of not having to relive the painful memories she had blocked out from her childhood. Well that and she was throwing a party in honor of the Riverdale basketball team winning their first game of the season. In her defence she didn’t think she would see the Serpents there, as the Northsiders had made it very clear they weren’t welcome.
Except Toni and her gang was there and the seem to have brought a party with them. She wasn’t going to kick them out because she wasn’t going to ruin the party but she really didn’t want to see all dressed up. It made her feel both good and bad things, but mostly bad things.
Taking a seat on the couch she sighed and took a sip out of her every american teen party cup. Not that she would admit to watching Toni across the room but that’s exactly what she was doing, watching Toni dance against the tall boy everyone called Sweet Pea. The jealousy raised inside her but she felt guilty for that, like she wasn’t allowed to feel jealous. Which she wasn’t because Toni wasn’t even her friend let alone her girlfriend. Yet she kept staring with a small pout present on her lips, tuning out the party around her.
Cheryl glanced up from her homework thrown lazily all over her bed as her Serpent best friend climbed through the window. She yawned as Toni took a seat next to her on the bed, garnishing a new leather jacket. “God I don’t know why you’re taking summer school before you even start high school.” The fourteen year old Toni said with a roll of her eyes.
The redhead gave her a look before leaning her head against the shorter girl’s shoulder, taking in her familiar scent. She sighed and played with the loose strand of Toni’s hair. “Because I have to if I want a better GPA than everyone else.” She mumbled, closing her eyes for a brief moment.
“You’re such an overachiever, it’s kind of cute.” Toni hummed, running a hand through Cheryl’s dark curls. The girl was obviously itching for Cheryl to point out the jacket but she wanted this moment to last just a few more second before she had to address it. “So I did this thing.”
Looking up at the eager girl Cheryl rolled her eyes and  sighed. “You did this thing? Does it have anything to do with that new jacket?” She asked a teasing tone evident, the redhead had know she was going to join the Serpents eventually, it was just a matter of time.
Her newly Serpent friend grinned down at her and nodded eagerly, her little girl side coming out on rare occurrences like these.  “My Grandpa finally let me join the Serpents.”
Letting out a small sigh she grinned at her best friend happy that she was happy, even if she disapproved. “That’s good, what did you have to do to get in anyway?” She asked, no one on the Northside having any idea what you were suppose to do.
The smaller girl looked away with a small blush, already knowing that Cheryl wasn’t going to like what the initiation process for the Serpents was. “I had to pole dance in front of the other older members.” Toni answered, which made Cheryl sit up instantly and give her a look.
“You poll dance in front of middle age men? You’re fourteen.” She said, giving her a serious look. The redhead was starting to disapprove of her best friend’s decision to join the Southside gang more and more.
Shrugging nonchalantly the girl played with the cuffs of her new jacket, she knew that Cheryl already disapproved but she was still supportive at least? “Yeah it’s the initiation for females is pole dancing. Trust me I hate it as much as you do.”
Cheryl stared at Toni, not sure why she would join a gang when that’s what they made a fourteen year old do to join. “You joined a fucking gang who made you pole dance to join?!” She asked, disgusted by the whole thing and hating that Toni supported it.
The conversation about that went down hill from the point. Then it was an argument. Then it turned into a whole actual fight. It was their first real fight in seven years of friendship and it was the start of their friendship ending all together. Maybe because Cheryl had made Toni cry that night, which was bad because it was one of the four times she’d seen the girl cry.
“Fuck you,” Toni stated, tears streaming down her face as she climbed out the window. The redhead was left there, her own tears streaming down her face as she watched her best friend leave.
Without even realizing her feelings from that night were extremely present on her face when she’s snapped out of the memory by Kevin. “Why do you look like you want to murder Toni?” He asked, cocking an eyebrow at his redhead friend.
Cheryl shook her head and rolled his eyes at him. “Because her and her little snake gang to a party they weren’t even invited to.” She lied, although she wasn’t the happiest person about the whole Toni and her friends being there. It mean that she couldn’t keep up her streak of avoiding the Serpent.
Kevin gave her a look that screamed he knew she was lying but shrugged, waiting for the girl to be a little bit more drunk before finally getting the truth out of him. “Sure thing, Red.” He told her and walked over to Fang, which honestly was about time in Cheryl’s opinion.
Sighing again the redhead glanced over to where Toni and her friend? boyfriend? fuck buddy? was but they were both gone. Which in turn made Cheryl’s blood run cold at the fact that they were probably off doing something together. Except that they weren’t a Cheryl found that out as Tonit took a seat next to her.
“Why were you staring at me like that night that I told you I was a Serpent?” Toni asked, cocking a perfectly manicured eyebrow at the redhead. She wanted an answer on how Cheryl was going to be so cruel even when she tried to extend an olive branch to her, but then look at her with all the hurt, anger, and sadness from that night.
Cheryl glared over at the pink haired girl, who was was sitting uncomfortably close to her even if there was a good foot or two between them. “Because you came to my party unannounced.” She stated, knowing that Toni wasn’t going to buy it for a second.
The serpent rolled her eyes and gave a look to the redhead, she still didn’t forgive her but maybe she had changed. “You looked like ruined your year and killed your puppy, this is not because we crashed a party.”
Sighing the redhead looks over at her drunk enough to say what was not in her mind but also not drunk enough to forget what was about to happen. “I’m jealous of Sweet Pea, I want what you two have but with you.” She mumbled, not looking her ex best friend in the eyes.
Laughing Toni gives her a serious look. “You want to be my girlfriend? Oh that’s fucking rich coming from you.” The pink haired said with a semi-bitter laugh and Cheryl knew she had messed up. She wanted the friendship but even suggesting a relationship like that with Toni was as off the table as
The redhead goes to say something but is interrupted by Toni before she even gets that beginning of the first syllable out. “After everything you but me through as an early teen you want me to just forget what you did to me and go out with you?” She asked, but doesn’t want or wait for an answer before heading towards the door, taking her boyfriend with her.
For some reason Cheryl feels her eyes start to water at the thought of what she did to Toni and she needs to find somewhere private, somewhere where she could cry. That’s what she needed to do and it would pointless to try and stop it because it wasn’t going to work at all.
Standing up she quickly made her way to the nearest bedroom, except it was occupied by Kevin and Fangs. Not being able to deal with that at the moment she hurriedly left the house, feeling the cold air on her cheeks. There wasn’t anyone around so she let the tears finally fall down her pale cheeks.
After that night Cheryl felt like she was at an all time low with her friendships. She tried extra hard to never run into Toni which was hard. The redhead had to rearrange the ways that she took to her classes and switched out of the biology class she was in, she could easily be in a higher class than the Sophomores anyway.
Cheryl did a pretty damn good job of never seeing her fellow junior for the remainder of the school year and for the first couple weeks of summer break. But it was bound to happen. She was bound to run into the familiar pink haired Serpent eventually. Just how it happened was the definition of unlikely.
Pushing opened the unlock bathroom in the small diner at Pop’s the redhead is greeted by Toni trying to stop shove toilet paper up her nose as a bark bruise forms on her cheek. Glancing down at her knuckles they were just a bloody and bruised as her face.
It didn’t take a genius to realize that the Serpent had just been in a fight with someone, and it hurt Cheryl to see her like this. Except she didn’t know what to do with the girl in front of her bleeding and being the last person Toni wanted to see. So she froze once again, door still opened and the snake giving her a confused and painful look.
Looking through her first aid kit Cheryl glared at her best friend, who she had managed to makeup to for their fight. She sighed and pulled out the cotton swabs and rubbing alcohol. The redhead knew what she was doing because of how much she had to use it on herself.
“How did you hurt yourself this time?” She asked, rolling her eyes as she inspected the cut on the girl’s cheek. It wasn’t to deep and luckily didn’t need stitches from what she could tell, which is sad because she’d had enough of those to know.
Toni winced as the cotton swab was pressed against the semi-deep cut on her cheek. “I got into a fight with some Ghoulie.” She told her with a smug smirk present on her lips. “You should see the other guy.”
Cheryl rolled her eyes again and finished cleaning off the cut that the fifteen year old girl had managed to get from a fight. “Don’t look so smug, you’re lucky that’s all that happened. And I can’t do anything about that split lip.” She scolded her secret best friend that no one knew about, knowing both of them should be doing homework right now. Especially with being so close to the end of the first quarter.
“You could always kiss it better.” The snake joked, which caused the redhead to tense up a little. It was a harmless joke and what’s the worst that could happen if she just went along with it? They were both straight anyway so there was nothing to worry about.
Humming she leaned up and gave Toni a quick and small kiss right on the lips. Which totally didn’t feel like the best thing in the world had just happened in a mere second of her life. “There you go, is it better now?”
The slightly older girl was actually blushing at the fact that Cheryl had just flat out kissed her right there. “All better.” She said, stopping herself from it coming out as a squeak in the last seconds.
“Are you just going to stare?” Toni asked annoyed after what must have been a solid minute or two. She looked as pissed off as she was beaten up, which meant that Cheryl was without a doubt the last person the snake wanted to see.
Taking a deep breath the redhead stepped into the bathroom and closed the door behind her, making sure to lock it too. “Let me help you?” She asked softly, approaching the girl that she had been avoiding the best she could. The girl still had feelings for her and wanted to help her even if she didn’t want it.
Glancing at her cautiously the pink haired girl shrugged and handed the first aid kit to Cheryl. The redhead bit her lip and carefully examined the girl’s face, moving her face with the light touch of her hand.
“How did you hurt yourself this time?” She asked, knowing it was the same questioned she had asked the Serpent so many times in the seven years that they had known each other. Cleaning off the blood gently off her face and the cuts on her eyebrow.
Instead of the smug replied she was so used to she got a cold look from Toni who moved her face when told to. “When of your football guys attacked me on my way from getting some food.” She said her tone as cold as ice. Which was unfair because being cold and bitchy was her speciality not the snakes.
Chewing her lip Cheryl nodded and continued to clean off the other girls face. “You’re lucky that this doesn’t need stitches.” She said, placing a band-aid over her eyebrow with a small sigh. It was that moment that she realized how close she was to her old friend. “And I can’t do anything for that split lip.”
“You could kiss it better.” The Serpent quoted, glancing down at the redhead’s lip for a brief second before looking back up. It wasn’t an invitation to kiss her this time though it was more for old time sakes.
Before she realized the moment was over and Toni had moved to the door. “Thanks for the help.” The pink haired snake told her before leaving Cheryl alone in the bathroom to clean up the mess from the injuries.
For the rest of the summer it appeared that Toni was the one avoiding Cheryl and not the other way around. Which was really sucking for her because she needed to talk to the snake. Well it was more of an apology than a talk if she was being honest.
Cheryl finally got her chance when she realized that they had home room together for their senior year of the actually definition of hell for a city. It would take time but if she could finally get out the door as fast as Toni did they would be able to talk.
Which in the end worked after a month because the teacher had to check something with Toni so Cheryl had her chance to finally corner her. Well by corner it was really more as drag into an empty bathroom. “We need to talk.”
Toni laughed and rolled her eyes as Cheryl guarded the bathroom door. “Oh no are you breaking it up with me?” She asked, sarcasm dripping from her every word. That didn’t really surprised the redhead, who could’ve used much better wording.
“No, I came here, well dragged you here, to apologize.” The taller girl paused, collecting her thoughts about how she could apologize for that night between the two of them. “For that last night we spent together…”
Toni looked up at Cheryl from her spot on the other girl’s lap. They were having all those deep conversations that they always have when they sit at the river together. When Toni’s head is rested in Cheryl’s lap as they get distracted from the book Cheryl is reading out loud.
“Hey. Blossom?” She asked, playing with the stray strands of the other girl’s curly red hair. It was a nervous habit she had picked up over the course of their eight year friendship. “Remember when you kissed me?”
Humming in acknowledgement Cheryl nods at the Serpent’s questions. “Of course I remember when I kissed you, Cha Cha.  It was only three months ago.” She answered, giving her a confused look at where this was going.
Nervously chewing her lip she contemplated if she was going to say this to her best friend or keep it in for as long as she could. “I liked it… like a lot, it felt like something clicked.” She said which only cause Cheryl’s brow to furrow more in confusion.
Toni sighed and continued to chew on her lip as she stared at Cheryl. “I liked the kiss more than I should have liked it… and I like girls like I like guys…” She paused again as the redhead’s face went from confused to absolutely blank.
Tears threatened to fall down the gang member's cheek but she was committed to letting Cheryl know how she felt about her. It had been killing the poor girls for months, maybe even years. “I like you how I like girls how I like guys.”
Shaking her head she sat up and looked the redhead straight in the eye. “I like you, actually no scratch that I love you. I’m in love with you, Cheryl Blossom. I know we’re young but I felt like for months and I know I’m not just making it up.”
There was a thousand ways better that Cheryl could’ve react to those words and that situation. She could’ve kissed her. She could’ve told her that she loved her too. She could’ve said she would never love lever her like that and it would’ve been better. But she didn’t do any of that in the face of her best friend being in love with her.
No, instead she promptly kicked Toni off her lap and stood up. It was to fair she took the news badly as she began to pace not caring that she wasn’t wearing shoes. Not caring that there was mud all over her shoes. Not caring that she was breaking Toni’s heart in that moment. Not caring about anything because in that moment she was so confused and she wasn’t okay with this.
“You can’t be a girl and like girls, Toni. You can’t be in love me, it’s wrong.” The fifteen year old redhead said, almost reciting what her parents told her when they found out she was so much as thinking about it years prior. “You just haven’t found the right guy yet.”
The look of pain and hurt she saw on Toni’s face that night made her feel so awful, but she pushed it back it back to stand her point. She had to look as she saw silent tears rolling down the young Serpent’s cheek.
“It’s wrong.” She repeated, because it was, wasn’t it? That’s what she was told her whole life so why would it be okay because it’s happening with her best friend. It felt wrong to say but it’s what everyone in this town says. Every last one of them.
Toni pushed herself up from the ground and furiously wiping away the tears falling down her cheeks, refusing to cry in front of her. “I thought I could come to you, Cheryl. You’re my best friend you’re supposed to be supportive but I guess I was wrong… because you’re telling me that I’m wrong for how I feel.” She spat angrily, but it was oh so evident of the pain in her tone and that’s what was destroying the redhead.
So she doesn’t say anything, she just stood there staring at the person she knew better then herself. She just stands there as Toni gave her a pleading look to say anything except what she had just said to her. To be anything but hateful, even if it was being cold and distance. Just not hateful.
After what felt like forever of Cheryl staring at Toni in silence, as the Serpent’s eyes said everything that she wasn’t saying in the moment. “I’m going to go… thanks for being so fucking supportive.” The soon to be pink hair girl mumbled sarcastically as she shoved past the redhead.
Cheryl stood there, still, for at least another hour. She had just ruined her relationship with her best friend over something she didn’t even know was true. After the night fell and multiple missed phone calls from her brother, she picked up.
“Hello?” She said, hating that sound of her voice when she said it. It sounded so broken but nowhere as broken as Toni’s had sounded just hours before.
“Where are you, Cheryl?” Her brother’s concerned voice rang out from the phone, but the redhead couldn’t answer. She couldn’t say anything but that she was headed home and if he could make her some hot chocolate.
“Blossom, where the fuck did you go?” Toni said, snapping her back into her present day situation. The taller girl knew she had tuned out at some point when she trailed off but she was still her for a proper apology, even if it was three years late.
Sighing Cheryl looked Toni in the eyes, seeing hints of the same look from that night. “I want to apologize for that night because it isn’t wrong… you were in love with me and it wasn’t wrong. It’s anything but wrong but I told you it was. The first person you came out to told you it was wrong and it was your best friend as a child. You were right about how I was suppose to support you not act the way you did…”
She paused and tucked a strand of Toni’s hair behind her ear, as the Serpent stared at her multiple emotions flashing her face. “And I am so so so sorry. Girls can like girl and girls can love girl and I know you know that it isn’t wrong now but yeah it isn’t wrong.”
The redhead left out the part where she was positive that night was her internalized homophobia not being internalized anymore. She left out how she knew that she loved Toni too. She left out that the Serpent hadn’t left her mind since half way through junior year. She left out so much stuff but she couldn’t say any of that to Toni now.
“Why?” The Serpent asked after so many minutes in silence. After them just staring into each other eyes. After them trying to say so much with their eyes but being just slightly out of tune with each other. “Why apologize three years later?”
Cheryl didn’t want to say why but she knew she had to if Toni was even going to think about accepting her apology. “Because since then I’ve realized I like girls and since then I felt the same thing I felt between us three years ago, just more sexualized and not as strong.”
Biting her lip Toni didn’t say anything after Cheryl had finished her short explanation and it felt weird. She had felt the tension between them since the beginning of them seeing each other from time to time again but she always hid that from the other girl. Now, she didn’t really have to hide that.
The redhead gave her a hopeful look but stayed quite as the small girl tried and decide what she was going to do. Instead of getting the answer in a word she got it in a kiss. Which led to a muffled and surprised squeak as Toni connected their lips softly.
It was nothing like the first time they had kissed. Nothing like the quick and innocent peck between two young teenagers. No, this was so much different and that was quickly obvious when Toni pushed her up against the bathroom door to deepen the kiss.
Humming into the kiss Cheryl let Toni take the lead, having next to no experience with girls. Eventually it had to be stopped when the redhead remember they were in school and that Toni’s hands should not be untucking her shirt right now.
Maybe Kevin was right about them having way too much sexual tension because this had escalated fast and  they were for sure late for class. “This doesn’t mean that I forgive you, Blossom.” The Serpent said, giving her a serious look.
The redhead just nodded slowly because that was more than fair. “Do you maybe want to go to our spot and talk about it?” She asked, not even bothering to hide the hopeful town that was present in her voice.
Shaking her head her ex best friend pretended to think over the answer for a very long time. “Hmmm, skipping class to talk things out with my ex best friend? Why would I want to do that?” She answer sarcastically, taking the grinning Cheryl’s hand and dragging her out of the bathroom. “We’re getting Pop’s though.”
Cheryl was just glad that she got a second with the girl who never truly left her mind after that night, and well before that night. And it appeared Pop seemed the same way, because instead of scolding the two girls for ditching he just grinned at the two friends he use to see at his place everyday.
Being back there with the smaller girl made her feel so many things. They had so many memories with Pop as he played a major hand in raising them and playing peacemaker whenever they had their stupid fights. He was like a grandfather two the two girls, always treating them like they mattered when their families didn’t.
“My two girl’s back at it again, huh?” He asked with a big grin as they placed their order. They both grin and Toni even stood up and gave the man a big hug. She had only seen him once in the past three years and that was when she stormed out on Cheryl.
Pop let out a small chuckle and told them that it was on the house before heading back to the kitchen, leaving the two girls two their own devices. Which really meant he left the two of them to joke, eat, and avoid the conversation until they’re in private.
Once they say their goodbye they leave the small diner that was like a second spot for them. It was always Pop’s and then sitting by the river and enjoying each others presence. So Cheryl was happy that hadn’t change, even if Toni might have just been hungry.
The redhead let out a small sigh as Toni held onto her hand, pulling her through the old path they had made. It wasn’t covered in leafs though which meant that for being old someone was still using it. Which instantly keyed Cheryl in that her person had come here when long after their fight.
Toni glanced back at Cheryl and smiled softly as she stopped them at they’re small little hideouts in the trees, just close enough to the river to hear it’s calming noises. “Let’s see if it’s still here.” The snake mumbled as she grabbed searched through one of their old hiding places.
Shaking her head Cheryl took a seat on a nearby rock as she waited for Toni to find what she was looking for. She eventually did and it came with a little “aha!” from the older girl. Letting out a small giggle, the redhead watched as an old blanket got dusted off and laid out over the dirt.
“Just like before.” Toni said quietly, which prompted Cheryl to roll her eyes and stand up. She took a seat on the blanket, glancing over at the old book that was found wrapped inside of it. In almost a second of sitting down Toni laid down next to her, resting her head on the other taller girl’s thigh.
They sat there for hours just talking about everything that happened in the past three years. It  started with the full talk and apology about what had happened their last night together. Then is started to drift to trivial stuff and everything that people would deem insignificant.
As the sky started to darken they fell into a comfortable silence, just listening to each other’s breathing and the sound of running water. “Will you read to me?” The Serpent asked with a small sigh, looking up at Cheryl.
Cheryl shook her head with a small laugh and leaned over, dusting off the old book. “This book has been in the tree for years.” She said, but started opened up to the first page of the old children’s book.
“Guess How Much I Love You.” She read off with a small sigh. Shaking her head again she began to read the book to her favorite Serpent. Once she finished she looked back down at Toni.
Toni gave her a soft smile, humming as Cheryl ran a hand through her pink hair. It was scary how easily they fell back into their old ways. “Hey, Blossom, guess how much I love you?”
Laughing quietly she raised an eyebrow at Toni. “How much do you love me Cha Cha?” She said, a small smile playing at the corner of her lips.
“‘I love you right up to the moon’.” The Serpent said softly with a soft blush. Matching her blush Cheryl leaned down and softly kissed the other girl, who followed her up when she was pulling away from the kiss.
“‘Well I love you right up to the moon… and back’.”

I just posted a Choni smut one shot on Wattpad!
https://www.wattpad.com/story/143613703-why-did-you-stop
I’ve always wanted to write stories, but never really got around to do it. But since I’ve got an important exam going on, my brain is, of course, swarming with ideas. 😂😂
This is the first time I’m writing a short story, let alone a fan fiction. So feel free to leaves some comments and criticisms!
I’m also awaiting my invitation from AO3, so once I get it, I’ll be transferring it there.
Thanks for your time!!! 🖤

I have been getting some asks and comments about what a bad person Betty Cooper is for not telling Jughead the ~truth about what happened with Archie. And while I vehemently disagree with this, I also keep waiting to have coherent thoughts on this topic but instead I am all over the place about this (much like the Riverdale writers are with this storyline - l o l). anyway, here are my thoughts such as they are.
First, we should keep in mind that this was a kiss and not some drawn out affair like some fans would categorize it.
Honestly I think in some ways Betty not telling Jughead about the kiss shows just how little significance or impact it has had on her. In the end, she was not confused about who or what she wanted, and has not looked back since making that decision.
Is that fair to Jughead? Hard to say. On the one hand, Jughead would probably want to know, and he would probably like it to come from his girlfriend rather than some other source. On the other hand, if Betty truly does not have any lingering feelings for Archie then what does telling Jughead accomplish other than hurt him (perhaps unnecessarily)? Put differently, does telling Jughead do anything other than perhaps ease Betty’s guilt?  Is it more selfish or less selfish to tell him? It is selfish to tell him because Betty wants to ease the burden on herself of having kissed Archie and kept it from him? Or is it more selfish not to tell him because she does not have to worry about losing him?
Truly I don’t know what the “right” or “ethical” answer is other than to say that I don’t think keeping it from Jughead makes Betty a heinous person. Y’all, last week on Riverdale, Cheryl basically asked her mother to take care of her Blossom problem, and Penelope did so by murdering them all, which did not seem to perturb Cheryl at all? And yet Betty Cooper is a heinous person because she has not come clean to Jughead about a kiss and a bunker meetup with Archie? I mean, I will defend my girl B Cooper to the ends of this earth, so I do not pretend to be an unbiased source, but also, like... what.
And can we even fault Betty for living her life like 4x17 never happened? In true Riverdale style, #dead dove/don’t eat, the emotional implications from this storyline are barely gracing the screen. I don’t know why we all expected there to be this huge emotional fallout, but once again, Riverdale is just not that show. If we want to deal properly from the whys, hows, wheres of what happened between Betty and Archie in 4x17, it is becoming increasingly clear that we are going to have to deal with it in the realm of fic because for the show, it’s just not that big a deal.
In some ways, it is pleasing and hilarious to me that the big Betty and Archie storyline has basically come to nothing. I can just enjoy my OTP and the end of high school as though Riverdale canon itself is literally now one big AU where 4x17 never happened. In other ways, it is a completely unsatisfying end to a poorly cobbled together storyline. If you were never even going to do anything with it then.... why.... do it....??
Emotionally satisfying or not, I plan to enjoy the hell out of 5x03. It might be the last Bughead I get for a while!! Leave me to my OTP, I will take what I can get.

Title: Flour Blossom Fandom: Riverdale Characters: Cheryl Blossom x Reader Word Count: 1,930 Warnings: None Notes: Get it... Flour Blossom... instead of Flower Blossom.... I’m hilarious, y’all. // Based on an anon request, although I changed it a bit: “I have a fic idea. You are new to riverdale and instantly connect with the gang. Few weeks later cheryl suddenly starts haging out with you and the others(ronnie know she has a crush on you so she helps her). Cheryl hears you say "the way to a woman's heart it's through her stomach" and after that she fins out what is your favorite food and keeps inviting you to dinner. One day she decides to make you dinner instead of going out and conffesses her feelings and ask you to be her gf. Well ty :)”

Anyone who has ever transferred to a new school is aware of the anxiety that entails. What should you wear? Will everyone hate you? Where will you sit for lunch? Will you be able to make new friends? Thankfully, however, your experience transferring to Riverdale High was far less painless than you had ever imagined.
While you were alone the majority of the first day of school, that didn’t last for long. Halfway through lunch, the most beautiful woman you’d ever seen walked right up to you and started a conversation. Her hair was a vibrant red, as were her lips, and she carried herself with a confidence you could never imagine having. She introduced herself as Cheryl Blossom, and she spoke to you about your old school, your hobbies and interests, and ultimately, asked you to sit with her at lunch from now on. You felt as if you were dreaming – but if you were, you never wanted to wake up.
The topic of your sexuality was something that always seemed to come up in social settings, and it always filled you with a unique sense of nervousness. Everyone responded differently to it, and you had experienced too much ostracism to be foolish enough to think that everyone would be accepting of it. And, inevitably, it came up in conversation with Cheryl.
“What’s your dating situation like? Got a boyfriend from your old school, still grabbing at your legs and begging you not to go? Or maybe a girlfriend?”
She asked the question so casually – but it still made your stomach drop to your toes, and you couldn’t prevent yourself from shifting in your seat.
“Uh, no… nothing like that,” you responded, feigning interest in your lunch to avoid eye contact. Most people just dropped the conversation right then – but Cheryl was certainly not ‘most people.’
“So, you do like women?”
Your head snapped up to look at her, your eyebrows furrowed together in disbelief. Her expression nor her tone were accusatory, but how could she have possibly known that from your brief answer? She seemed to understand your question without you even speaking it.
“When straight girls are asked if they have a boyfriend or a girlfriend, they immediately say that they’re straight. But you didn’t. In fact, you ignored it entirely, which makes me think that you’re not straight,” Cheryl explained, still maintaining that cool, unbothered demeanor. You could feel your hands begin to sweat, and your mouth went dry as you attempted to come up with some sort of response for her, but nothing would come.
“You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to,” she added, shrugging. “I don’t particularly care either way.”
“You don’t care?” you finally managed to ask, and she nodded as she took a bite from the fruit bowl before her. “Um… okay then – you’re right, I’m not straight.”
The scoff that fell from her lips immediately made your stomach twist into knots. As per usual, someone pretends that they don’t mind anyone being queer, but is actually disgusted by it, you thought. You would never admit it, but you were actually a bit sad about it – you were really starting to like Cheryl. But before you could even say anything, she spoke again.
“That girl’s dress is beyond hideous. It looks like she yanked it out of her grandmother’s attic.”
Cheryl wasted no time in returning to conversing with you. The things she spoke of regarded the usual topics, such as fashion and music, with no signs whatsoever of any underlying disdain for your confession of your sexuality. These were the responses from people that you loved the most – not making a big deal of it, and treating you exactly the same as you did before.
And that definitely did not help your blossoming feelings for Cheryl Blossom.
You had been watching a movie in class the next time Cheryl brought up your dating life. It was a film class, in which you were meant to be evaluating the modern depiction of romance on the screen – definitely not the way Cheryl was so close that the side of her leg was touching yours, or the adorably peaceful expression she wore as she gave her full attention to the man on screen, asking his intended lover how best to win her affection.
“So… what’s the best way for someone to win your heart?” she whispered to you, careful to be sly enough that the teacher didn’t hear her.
The question was an unexpected one, and you had to stop yourself from blurting out “By being Cheryl Blossom.” You composed yourself, and spent a moment thinking of an answer.
“Maybe mostly just by being nice to me? I don’t really know, I’ve never thought about it,” you admitted, shrugging. A smile crossed your face, and you added, “I guess a good method would be abiding by the age-old belief that the best way to a person’s heart is through their stomach.”
Cheryl only nodded expressionlessly, still looking at the movie. You were about to ask her the same question, then you witnessed the teacher pointedly cleared her throat, and jerk her thumb towards the screen.
It was the very next day that Cheryl invited you over for dinner. You thought nothing of it; her parents were out of town that night, and you knew how much she hated them, so you just figured that she was taking their absence as an opportunity to have you over for the first time. You had anticipated watching a few movies and maybe ordering a pizza for dinner; just a typical, lazy evening with a friend.
When you arrived and she answered the door in a little black dress and red heels – and especially after she brought you into the dining room to reveal a massive spread of extravagant food – you felt extremely underprepared.
“What’s the occasion, Cheryl?” you inquired, hanging your jacket on a nearby coatrack.
“No occasion! I just wanted us to have a nice night,” she answered, then quickly added, “Because my parents are gone and all. I usually don’t get to have nights to myself.”
“You’re not having ‘a night to yourself’ tonight. I’m here,” you pointed out, and she only smiled.
“That’s even better.”
In an effort to keep from giggling like a lovestruck schoolgirl in response to her sweet words, you cleared your throat and crossed your arms.
“Well, then let’s eat, I guess,” you managed to choke out.
The remainder of the night was spent trying the various foods that the Blossom family chef had prepared for you two. You had never even seen half of the foods upon the silver platters before you, and the other half was foods that you had only ever seen on Instagram. Cheryl hardly seemed to care about any of it, though; her attention was almost exclusively on you, constantly asking what you liked and didn’t like, your opinions on the food, and just instigating general conversation with you. The night ended with a movie marathon, and when she fell asleep with her head on your shoulder, you were certain that you had never been happier.
After that night, Cheryl had dinner with you several other times. It was always just dining at local restaurants, being that she didn’t want you to have to sit through an uncomfortably quiet dinner with her family – but you loved it nonetheless. She also always insisted on paying, and while you knew that money was certainly no issue for the Blossom family, you still protested every time.
It was two months before Cheryl’s parents left on another trip, and she invited you back to Thornhill. This time, however, she informed you to just let yourself in, and to head to the kitchen upon your arrival. You had thought that perhaps she was going to let the chef teach you how to make something; she knew that you enjoyed cooking, regardless of whether or not you did well. Nothing could have possibly prepared you for what you saw when you entered the kitchen.
Cheryl had a designer apron on over her dress, and she was covered in flour from head to black stiletto heels. Her iPad was propped up on one of the counters, and it too was covered in flour. A smoke alarm was screaming from somewhere in the room, and whatever was on the stove looked more akin to molten lava than food. A cake set on a nearby counter, and it looked positively sickly. Meanwhile, Cheryl appeared to be substantially stressed, as she frantically attempted to stir whatever it was that was in the pan on the stove.
“Uh… Cheryl?” you said, causing her to jump. She stared at you for a moment, her mouth hanging open slightly, before bursting into tears.
You wasted no time in setting your bag down and pulling her into a hug. You attempted to soothe her, gently stroking her hair as she sobbed into your shoulder. It was a few minutes before she composed herself, and pulled away from you slightly, still sniffling.
“So… do you want to let me in on what happened?” you asked hesitantly, and she sighed.
“I was trying to make dinner for us, and it didn’t go well,” Cheryl admitted, a hint of shyness in her tone that was very unfamiliar to her personality.
“Why were you trying to make dinner for us in the first place?”
“Because… because you like cooking, and I thought that if I could prove to you that I could cook, then you’d like me.”
“I already like you, Cheryl,” you said, smiling softly at her.
“No… I mean like like me,” she muttered, crossing her arms stubbornly and glowering at the floor.
You were dumbstruck. Cheryl Blossom was trying to woo you – after you’d spent months suppressing your feelings for her. The most beautiful woman you had ever seen – who had likely never even touched an oven – was working her perfect ass off to try and cook dinner for you, simply because she was trying to gain your affection.
“Well, I’ll repeat myself then,” you said gently, your smile widening. “I already like you, Cheryl.”
It took her a minute to process what you were saying. When she did, she slowly looked up at you, a guardedly hopeful look on her face. You could tell that she was attempting to determine what she would say next. She was always so on top of her game; you could tell that your confession had shaken her up a bit. Before she could speak, however, you cupped her flour-covered face in your hands, and pulled her into a kiss.
The kiss was soft, sweet, and short, but it managed to steal the breath from your lungs. When you pulled away from Cheryl, her eyes were still closed, but they opened when you gently tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. Simultaneously, a smile spread across both of your faces.
“Cheryl Blossom, you are absolutely incredible. And I really appreciate you trying to cook for me. That’s the sweetest thing anyone’s ever done for me. But let’s just go ahead and order a pizza, yeah?” you said, and she laughed lightly.
“Sounds good to me.”
The two of you spent the rest of the night snuggled up on the couch, watching your favorite show, and occasionally stealing kisses. You knew that it wasn’t the first time that Cheryl had made you feel this way, and you were certain that it wouldn’t be the last – you had never been happier.

Cuddles & Confessions (Sweet Pea)
Tumblr media
Sweet Pea x Reader
Prompts: “Stay and cuddle, please.” & “You are very endearing when you are half-asleep.”
Requested by: Anonymous
                                 --------------------------------------------
You had waited up almost all night for Sweet Pea and the others to return. Betty, Cheryl, and Toni stayed with you as the other Serpents went off to deal with the Ghoulies. You and Sweet Pea weren’t even dating. There was chemistry there. Everybody in Riverdale could tell that the two of you liked each other. But there was just something holding the two of each other back from taking your relationship to the next level.
It was closing in on three am when the sound of motorcycles had all of you jumping up and running outside. Jughead was leading the front with Sweet Pea and Fangs flanking his sides and the rest of the Serpents following. Betty left you to go straight to Jughead. Cheryl and Toni went over to Fangs as Sweet Pea swung his long legs off his own bike.
You could see that he already had a black eye forming. His lip was split and his hands were scrapped. He came over to you and dropped an arm around your shoulder. You turned into him and caressed his face gently.
“You okay?” You asked.
Sweet Pea only nodded. Slowly, everyone left Sweet Pea’s yard. Betty climbed onto the back of Jughead’s bike. Your friend gave you a look and you gave her a small smile to let her know you’d be alright with Sweet Pea.
Finally alone, you and Sweet Pea headed inside his trailer. Sweet Pea dropped down onto the couch with a sigh as you disappeared into the bathroom to get the first aid kit. Back out in the living room, you dropped down next to Sweet Pea. The two of you said nothing as you worked on cleaning up his wounds.
When you were finished cleaning him up you picked up the mess as Sweet Pea kicked out of his boots and shrugged out of his leather jacket. When you came back out of the bathroom Sweet Pea was stretched out on the couch. You went into the kitchen to grab some Tylenol and a glass of water.
Sweet Pea was dozing off so you left the water and medicine on the table for him to take once he woke back up. As you moved to leave, Sweet Pea caught you by the hand. You looked down at him and he was peering up at you through his eyelids.
“Stay and cuddle, please?” Sweet Pea asked groggily.
You gave him a soft smile and then let him pull you down onto the couch next to him. You turned so you were turned into him. Your face pressed against his neck. His arms wrapped tightly around you.
“You are very endearing when you are half-asleep,” You mumbled.
“I’m always endearing when it comes to you,” Sweet Pea said through a yawn.
You chuckled. The two of you fell silent.
“I was scared shitless for you tonight,” You admitted after a while.
“I know. I’m sorry. They had backup that we weren’t expecting,” Sweet Pea explained.
Closing your eyes you melted into his grip.
“Y/n,” Sweet Pea said.
“Hmm?” You hummed.
“You know I love you, right?” Sweet Pea asked.
You knew. But hearing those words made your stomach flip. So you could only bring yourself to nod.
“I should have said that a long time ago, but I was scared,” Sweet Pea said.
“I was scared too, that you didn’t love me like I love you,” You told him.
Sweet Pea looked down at you.
“You love me too?” Sweet Pea asked.
“Isn’t it obvious?” You asked with a smirk.
“Just wanted to make sure I was hearing you correctly,” Sweet Pea teased.
You rolled your eyes.
“So Sweet Pea,” You began.
“What is it?” Sweet Pea replied.
“Now that we’ve confessed our love for each other can we make it official?” You asked.
“I was getting to that part but of course you’re impatient,” Sweet Pea teased.
“Don’t make me use your real name,” You threatened.
Sweet Pea narrowed his eyes. “You wouldn’t dare!”
“Try me,” You smirked.
Sweet Pea was quick to give in. “Of course, we’re going to make it official! I want the whole world to know that you’re my girlfriend,”
“That’s more like it,” You smiled.
Sweet Pea leaned down so he could kiss you.
“And you can do that more often too,” You teased.
Sweet Pea laughed. “Oh trust me you’re gonna get sick of PDA,”
“I don’t think that’s possible,” You giggled.
Sweet Pea adjusted so his legs were entwined with yours. His bigger body covering yours completely.
“Pea, you’re squishing me!” You growled.
“Sorry, can’t hear you, falling asleep,” Sweet Pea said with a fake yawn.
“You shithead,” You hissed as you moved enough to free your face from his neck.
Sweet Pea sighed. “Shh, time for sleep, we can argue tomorrow,”
You tried to hide your yawn, but Sweet Pea caught you.
“See you’re tired too,” Sweet Pea said.
“Yeah, yeah,” You sighed closing your eyes.
Wrapped up in his warm embrace and with his confession of love still ringing in your ears, you fell asleep completely and utterly happy.

A Phoenix & Her Fire (Pt.3)
(A/N): hey guys! I meant to upload this earlier and then my night kinda exploded on me sorry, I hope this isn’t trash lol. Pt 4 is in the works!
Word Count: 1,921
Pairing: Cheryl Blossom x Toni Topaz
Warnings: none!
Summary: Fangs & SweetPea try to cheer their best friend up but she’s falling apart without Cheryl
Read it on AO3
Tumblr media
1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5
Toni groans when she feels a hand shake her shoulder gently. She blinks rapidly trying to push the drowsiness away, she must have fallen asleep against Cheryl.
“Topaaaz wake up!” SweetPea says, she shakes her head and turns to look at him.
“What time is it?” She asks groggily
“Mm like 9:30? I’ve been sent by a higher power to make sure you come home to change and we get some breakfast in you”
“Let me guess, a fellow beanie wearing serpent?” Toni asks.
“His girlfriend surprisingly enough. Ponytail Betty said she’s worried about you”
Toni lets out a laugh which turns into a snort. “Oh my god - Pea you did not just call her that.”
“So what if I did? C’mon I’m starving” he says as he motions for her to follow him. Toni’s eyes shift to Cheryl who’s still sleeping but shifting slightly. Toni reaches out and tucks a stray strand of her fiery hair behind her ear. A quiet sigh falls from her lips. “I know you don’t want to leave her. But we’ll be back soon” SweetPea says gently from beside Toni.
“Toni...” she hears a voice from the door and lifts her head to see Betty. “I talked to the doctor and he said Cheryl is going to be in tests and scans for most of the day. They’re going to call with any updates.”
“How did you get that infor... oh right, cousin perks” she says fitting the pieces together. “Thanks Betty”. Toni leans over to press a kiss to Cheryl’s head and she lets her hand rest on her cheek for a moment. She can’t wait until she can hold Cheryl in her arms again and kiss her as hard as she can. “I’ll be back soon. Promise” she mumbles against her forehead. She reluctantly pulls away from Cheryl and trudges out of the room after SweetPea.
After going back to Toni’s trailer the pair find themselves tucked into a booth at Pop’s with Fangs stretched on the other side. When Pop comes to take their order he looks at Toni with a quizzical expression. “Not the usual duo, no Cheryl today?” he asks kindly. Toni swallows hard and shakes her head.
“No she uhm... isn’t too well at the moment” Toni says trying to keep her voice steady.
Pop nods, “well send her my best, what can I get you guys?” The boys both order big breakfast meals but Toni settles for just a cup of coffee.
“Can you bring her some fries or something too?” SweetPea juts in before Pop leaves, he jots it down on his pad of paper and makes his way to the back. “You’re not hungry, I know. But you need to eat.” SweetPea says before Toni can protest. He falls back to rest on the booth. Toni huffs in response and circles her spoon in her coffee trying to dissolve the sugar cubes.
“You ever feel like your world is collapsing in on you?” Toni asks to no one in particular as she stares into her coffee.
“Well... one time I built a blanket fort and it collapsed while I was in it so I guess?” Fangs says. Toni can’t help but let out a soft laugh at that, her shoulders shaking slightly.
“You really love her, don’t you?” Fangs asks, his tone changing to a more serious one.
“More than anything” Toni says with a sad smile as she lifts her head to look at Fangs. “She’s my world”
“Then your world isn’t gonna collapse in is it? From what I’ve heard your girl is quite a fighter.” Fangs tells her. He reaches across the table to grab her hand and give it a reassuring squeeze.
“Wait hold on I just got a brilliant idea.” SweetPea says as he sits up from his relaxed position. Both Fangs and Toni turn their attention to him and lift their eyebrows. Toni picks up her coffee to take a sip while she listens. “When Toni and Cheryl get married they can combine their last names instead of having to choose one. It can be ... Blopaz...” He has a huge grin on his face and Toni just about spits her coffee out at the name suggestion. When SweetPea starts giggling like a schoolgirl Toni can’t help but laugh along with him.
“Oh my goooood” Fangs groans as he shakes his head but a smile is pasted on his face.
“I feel like Bombshell would have slapped me for that one. And damn that girl can be rough” SweetPea says once his laughter has calmed down.
“Rough? You don’t even know the half of it” Toni responds playfully and then takes another sip of her coffee.
“Antoinette Topaz just what are you trying to say?” SweetPea asks as he side eyes his best friend.
“Oh look food’s here” she replies turning her attention to the plate of fries set in front of her. The trio fall into a comfortable silence as they dig into their food. A sense of peace falls over the group until it’s broken by the sound of Toni’s phone ringing.
“Hello, Miss Topaz? It’s Doctor Shapiro here” he says in a even toned voice
“What’s up? I thought Cheryl was going to be in tests for most of the day” she questions
“Well just the morning actually. We managed to get them done fairly quickly and I’m just looking over the results now.”
“Is everything okay?” Toni asks as she feels the panic in her rising again.
“I’d like you to come down here and we can discuss things.” He responds. Toni starts to get up from the booth assuring the doctor she’s on her way before hanging up.
“What’s up?” Fangs asks as Toni gathers her things.
“The doctor needs me. I gotta go, thank you guys” she rushes out of Pop’s and heads in the direction of the hospital cursing herself for not bringing her motorcycle.
When Toni arrives at the hospital she’s out of breath and takes a moment to compose herself before entering into the doctors office. He greets her with a wave as she flops down across from him desperately trying not to let her exhaustion show.
“So we ran a couple chest x-rays and some blood tests on Cheryl to see where she’s at. Since her condition seems to be worsening I managed to get results back quickly” he starts out, not wanting to waste time.
“Worsening? What do you mean? She was fine when I left this morning.” Toni asks frantically
“She woke up with another coughing fit shortly after you left and it took a while to get her back on track. Her fever and pain level has also increased. We will obviously continue to monitor her but may have to hook her back up to an oxygen machine.” He replies cooly.
It takes everything in Toni not to bolt out of her chair and back to Cheryl. To hold her and tell her she’s going to be okay and that Toni isn’t going anywhere. She takes a deep breath and nods her head. “So what’s happening? Have you diagnosed her?”
“From what the results show I believe she has an extremely severe case of pneumonia. I’d like to get on top of treatment right away so the condition doesn’t amplify.”
“How.. she was only under for a couple minutes... they said it was only a couple minutes...” Toni mumbles half to herself and not expecting the doctor to hear.
“That may be so” he responds and Toni looks up. “But her body didn’t have the time to prepare and a couple minutes can mean the difference between life and death.”
Life and death... the words echo in Toni’s mind. She sits in silence for a moment not knowing what to say. She can’t help the crushing feeling that’s bearing down upon her with each passing moment.
“Her sickness was most likely caused by a bacterial infection she gained from the water. We’re going to start by injecting antibiotics into her bloodstream and go from there. We may need to administrate drugs directly to her lungs depending on how she reacts” the doctor continues.
“Do you know what exactly caused the infection?” Toni asks, her gaze shifts to Cheryl’s open file on the desk.
“That’s something we are still looking into, I’ve taken a fluid sample from her and hopefully we can get to the bottom of this. My best guess is she’ll be here for maybe a week. You’re free to go see her but she’s likely very exhausted” the doctor leans back in his chair letting out a sigh. Toni thanks the doctor and finds her way back to Cheryl’s room, she’s surprised to see her awake when she walks in. Her arm is hooked up to and IV with some sort of liquid dropping in which Toni takes to be the antibiotics the doctor mentioned.
“Hey babygirl” She says gently as she walks over to her side. “How come you’re still up? Those tests must have exhausted you”
“I can’t sleep..” Cheryl mumbles, turning her head to make eye contact with Toni. “I’m in so much pain baby...” Cheryl shifts slightly in bed trying to get comfortable and a small whimper leaves her lips. Toni swears she feels her heart drop, knowing Cheryl is in so much pain and not being able to fix it is tearing her apart.
“How can I help?” Toni asks gently as she reaches to cup Cheryl’s cheek and run her thumb against her temple. Cheryl immediately leans into the touch and a slight smile pulls at her lips. She shrugs her shoulders in response to Toni’s question. Toni’s eyes roam the room and the section of hallway she can see from her position. She only hesitates for a moment before kicking off her boots and crawling in to the small space beside Cheryl. She wraps her arms around the taller girl and helps her shift over slightly to give Toni more room. When they’re settled Cheryl’s head comes to rest on Toni’s shoulder and she curls into her curve of her neck. A soft thank you falls from her lips as her body almost melts against Toni’s. As Toni presses a kiss to Cheryl’s head she can feel her own body relax slightly for the first time since she got the call from Jughead. Toni soothes away Cheryl’s soft whimpers and strokes her hair in attempt to help her fall asleep and get the much needed rest her body craves. “I love you so much” Toni whispers gently.
“I love you too” Cheryl replies softly, she coughs harshly and lets out a quiet whimper of pain. Toni holds her a little tighter and presses another kiss to her forehead noticing it’s still hot to the touch. Toni’s lays her chin against Cheryl’s head and starts humming the tune to a song. She feels Cheryl smile against her skin.
“I see you shine and the dark disappears...” she sings in a gentle voice trying to coax Cheryl into sleep. She continues the song in a soft voice and rubs Cheryl’s back. Eventually Cheryl’s body relaxes against Toni and her breathing deepens as she drifts off. Toni stays pressed to Cheryl knowing the ache in her will grow if she’s not in her arms. She holds her close and prays to whoever or whatever is out there that her girl recovers quickly and can be safe at home with her soon.
