Missing Parts
This was a request but lost it so hopefully the requester sees this 😁
Cal Kestis x Bot Tinker Reader
Summary: sometimes the metal parts aren't that entertaining but adding a few things can make it better
Warning: none
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yn/3rd person pov
The music was loud so loud it could be heard from my station that was the same level as the prison "it's so fucking loud" I grumbled pulling out my ear plugs even those didn't work to block out the noise.
I heard beeping from behind me so I turned looking over my shoulder to the small droid on the table the guards brought him in a few hours ago damaging him the process "hey little guy" I murmured putting down my tools and slowly walking to him with my hands up.
"I'm not here to hurt you ok" I murmured and he beeped nervously as he slowly crept towards me to the edge of the table "I'm sorry about the guards their morons" I whispered picking up his broken pieces "dd please go get me some tools so I can patch up our friend here" I said.
My own little Droid flew out its station beeping happily as it flew between us and my desk passing me all the needed tools "come on little guy time to patch you up" I murmured and started humming to myself my tools drowning out the sound of the nearing prisoner.
Cal dropped down behind the unaware girl and his eyebrows rose in confusion as he watched her with his light saber raised he leaned to the side watching her work with his little companion "drop the tools" he spoke startling her causing her to fling the star screw driver at him but if landed a few feet in front of him.
"Shit you scared me" I squeaked moving my hands to my heart feeling it race "easy I'm just here for the droid" he murmured gesturing to bd-1 I glanced between the two "oh yeah here I was just repairing him and did a tiny upgrade on his antenna" I smiled gently picking up the small bot and bringing him to his owner.
The man frowned as he took him "why" he asked his voice low I nervously rubbed the back of my neck "it's kinda the only entertainment I get around here I fix or make new bots from the pieces I get" I looked around the room the small bots I've made peaking out their hiding spots.
"I'm cal" the man said sticking out his hand and I gently shook it "yn" I smiled and giggled as a few of my bots rolled to me and stopped by my feet "geez you've made a lot of them" he said kneeling down causing a few of them to hide behind me I let out a shakey breathe "I've made alot more but they get taken for gambling" I sighed making him look up at me with sorrow but I could see an idea popped into his head "how are you with shis".
-Time skip-
I felt sorry for the creatures we were killing yes its their nature but their death is only for fun, I shot one of those frog things making it crash into the wall, a group of my small bots tazered the group of scazz "what is this" sorc tormo boomed and I looked up at him confused intill a ship crashed into the area.
My smile widened as I recognized the ship "bloody greez" I murmured quickly gathering up my bots and following cal onto the ship "I will find you" sorc's voice faded as the door closed and the ship shook as it flew off "greez, cere" cal called as he rushed into the cock pit of the ship and I was slow to follow.
"I'm glad to see yo- yn" greez stopped mid sentence his eyes widening, "sup greez missed me" cal looked between the two of us surprised "glad to see you looking after my ship" I mused making him huff like a child "you own 50% of it not all of it" he muttered a few curse words turning his gaze back to flying.
"I'm cere now tell me what's this about you owning the ship" the lady spoke her eyes never leaving mine I laughed shaking my head "I won a lot of things from gambling that's also how I ended up in sorc's prison just on his good side" I paused "and that's how I met greez and he quickly lost all his belongings except the ship" I smiled.
Greez grumbled "wasn't my fault I was drunk" cere looked at him surprised "but why only 50%" cal asked crossing his arms his gaze on my I felt flustered under his gaze "I felt sorry for him" I laughed making cere laugh to "well I bet I can win it back" greez muttered putting the ship into hyper drive, cere lightly smacked the back of his head making him hiss
"so you can lose the rest of it I think not".

Definition of Peace
Cal Kestis x Reader
(Chapter Five of Defintion)
Summary: Definition of Peace: freedom from disturbance; tranquility.
Warnings: none!!
Tumblr media
•--•
You didn't know if it was the atmosphere or the planet itself, but Cal had told Greez and Cere that we would rest on the planet for a day longer before leaving to our next destination. It didn't take anything for you to be on board with that plan. Before boarding The Mantis after returning, you swiftly removed the folded paper and tucked it into the waistband of your pants, handing back the satchel filled with goodies.
It itched your brain the whole night; the anxiety, the curiosity.
The overwhelming feeling that you had just grabbed the puzzle piece of a different puzzle. Or a piece you simply didn't want to use in the first place.
Of course you wanted to know who you were. But you felt a shock jog through you along with the anticipation - what if you didn't want to be who you were meant to What if you wanted to be the girl with her new crew that never knew her full name? The girl that would make her own when the time came. The girl that was finding herself, even if she was finding the version the universe hadn't originally intended.
You took a seat on the curved couch farthest from the opening of the ship, watching Cere come out from her respective room to see what Cal had picked up. Meanwhile, Greez had only been interested in what Cal had bought from the fruit and meat stands.
"You know how rare this stuff is? You can hardly find a nice batch of jogan fruit anywhere in Corusant! They always price it at so high," Greez grumbled, grabbing the clear cannister of jogan fruit and making towards the kitchen.
Cere took out a cloth of scrap metal Cal had salvaged from some trinkets that were laid out in an alley, looking at some of the parts with an interest that you couldn't say you reciprocated. A few loose bolts that she separated into her hand she used to pick at the scraps, curling her fingers around the parts loosely.
"Maybe you can use these to repair BD's scomp link. Would be worth a shot," Cere suggested.
"I'll check in the morning, if I start now I may never get to sleep," Cal said with a chuckle. He looked over at you, "Oh, that reminds me."
His freckled hands both dipped into the string bag that he carried on his back through the markets and pushed around some items he had purchased before pulling out a black utility belt. It seemed to clip on the side, and the opposite side had a large gun holster and few sewn-on pockets. It was brand new, all clean and untattered, making your eyes sparkle as you looked back up at Cal. You hadn't even remembered him buying it, but you remembered when he left you alone to scout. In that time, he must've seen it and quickly purchased it.
He stood in front of you with the belt in his hands. You tipped your head back, looking at the way his features were softer in the shadows away from main lights. He pushed his arms out, presenting the utility belt. Up close, there were a few loops in the front of it, allowing for things to be hung and attached.
"It's yours," Cal said, "I saw it, and I knew immediately it was yours."
You hesitantly reached both your hands out, one picking it up as if it was a fragile piece of glass. As you moved it to rest in the other palm, you ran your thumb over the rough material. Picking it up almost made you feel loved, realizing that this hadn't been something you had asked to have. Looking back up at Cal, you could only feel your body begin to go rigid and your face became wet.
Crying. You were crying again, involuntarily. "Why," your voice shook at the first word, "Why am I crying?"
You went to look over to see if Cere had any input on your emotions, but her and Greez were gone, as if they noticed your tears and left. Cal reached a hand out and touched your face, "Look at me."
You turned your head and followed his words. Cal smiled at you, rubbing away the tears with a thumb, "It happens, I think you've just been overwhelmed recently. How about we go outside for a little, there's something I want to show you."
Cal took the belt out of your hand and set it down on the cushion. Taking the cue, your body stood up straight, waiting for his next move. Your crying stopped, as if his touch and recognition of what was happening was enough to make you feel more in control. Maybe he was really what had been holding you together since you had finally started interacting with other sentients. Cal seemed to piece in the parts of the world that you didn't seem to always catch.
Taking you by the hand, Cal led you down the gangplank. You had left the ship just as the blue was draining from the sky, and replacing that was a new range of color. You watched how they danced across the horizon while waving the sun a goodbye. The sight was new, one you had never caught while lounging on Bogano. The paper felt heavy in your waistband now, but you weren't exactly ready to share it with Cal.
He sat down, pulling your arm gently to sit with him. His legs came to a criss-cross. Your own were pulled up, knees pressing to your chest as you allowed arm to hug your legs together. You kept your left arm extended to keep a grasp on Cal's hand. You didn't feel like you should let go, and Cal was making no movements to release you.
A peach color blended into a yellow, which faded into the pale blue of the sky. It was a view like no other, the fluffy clouds dusted with the reflections of pink and yellow, and orange starting to creep up on the other colors with it's intense hue. You never realized that the sky did that when the sun was setting. There was a word for what you were witnessing, but the more you begged for that word, the further away TeeZee seemed.
The silence that grew between you didn't feel as if it was filled by a thick fog, but instead was thin and content. You didn't need to speak, nor did you always want to. You felt Cal's presence through the way he watched the same sunset that you currently did. You were the first to break when it was time.
"I saw two people today," you noted.
You saw his head turn out of the corner of your eye, but you kept your watch on the sky. He was waiting for you to elaborate.
"It was two women. They were both holding hands, one of them was talking, and the other was watching her. They looked... they looked so happy. But not in..." you turned to look at him, both sharing the same gap that was once between your bodies, "not in a friend way. Not in a blood relation way. They were..."
"-in love?" Cal completed my sentence.
Your lips parted, like he had found the word but it felt foreign.
"Love?" you asked.
Cal's eyebrows ticked up slightly with the forest in his eyes deepening, like they were continuing to watch the path that was yourself. You only knew that you were getting lost in those countless trails.
"Do you know what love is?"
You paused, your eyes panning over his figure. Light-brown dots pressed into his skin and smeared across his hands a little. You mentally noted the way his nose would darken before the tips of his cheeks did, or the way his lips would go dry before his nose darkened.
You shook your head, and that rich forest suddenly got shallow, like Cal had found the right path to follow. And you were always following close behind. A blanket of silence fell over the both of you. It was like time had paused and it was just... you and Cal. You couldn't tell if the world had stopped spinning for him as well, but you hoped you weren't alone in that moment.
When he spoke, his voice was quiet. "It's a... difficult thing to describe. Love is when you care about someone a lot, but usually you know when you feel it."
"Have you ever been in love, Cal?"
He shifted his jaw, chewing at the skin on his bottom lip. "No. Being in love is different from loving someone."
The end of his sentence told you that he didn't know enough to answer all the questions that floated in your mind. You never put together how close in age the both of you were, young and human, still new to the universe.
A call of Cal's name made him finally look at you, seeing the way you intently stared at him. You thought maybe it would make him feel uneasy but it only pulled a smile from him. You returned it. He stood up and wiped off the back of his pants, "You can sleep in my bunk if the nightmares come back, okay?"
Your voice barely spoke up to his volume, a tiny confirmation to his question as he walked back towards The Mantis. The disappearance of his form into the ship allowed your hand to reach under your poncho and into your waistband, pulling out the crinkled paper.
They were still looking for me. They had to be looking for me. You barely convinced yourself. Unfolding the paper felt like edging yourself towards a steep cliff, trying to knock your legs out from underneath you. The name underneath the photo made you feel nauseous. The photo of your toothless grin, the first name, the ship, it all make the poster so much more real.
And there is was at last, a last name that fit you like shoes 10 sizes too big. It might have made sense at one point, but now it had no meaning, no correlation, it made no sense. You folded up the paper and shoved it back in the waistband of your pants, giving the sky your attention once more.
Maybe it made no sense to you, maybe you couldn't relate that name to anything but who you were meant to be. But you could relate it back to two people.
Your parents.

Anakin was nothing if not arrogant, egotistical and, surprisingly talented to boot. As a youngling he excelled, as a Padawan learner he saved Senator and friend Padmé Amidala’s life more than once. Now, as General Skywalker, Anakin felt like he had grown into himself, grown into his power. It felt limitless, he was limitless. Anakin often had dreams of spreading himself thin, extending his power across the galaxy like a blanket, keeping everyone and everything safe.
He thought highly of himself, it wasn’t a secret. And, he didn’t think it was particularly a problem. He was the Chosen One, was he not? If anyone in the Jedi Temple was allowed to peacock a bit, it was him.
Well, that’s how Anakin rationalised it to himself anyway. Besides, Anakin did not like playing the long game. What was the point when he could sieze everything he wanted now?
Regardless, he had a sharp learning curve when it came to his own Padawan learner, Ashoka Tano. The snippy young girl challenged him more than most. He saw so much of himself in her, the power, the strength, the raw talent. Frustratingly, Anakin saw his faults in her too. Occasionally, the arrogance being something that Anakin couldn’t ignore. Like right now for example.
“Please Kestis the only reason you were moved from youngling to Padawan,” Ashoka paused, pointing her spoon at her young red-headed friend. “Is because the council wanted to try and mellow out your Master with the responsibility of a child.”
Anakin cringed as the young boy - Cal Kestis - pouted at the breakfast table. Anakin could sense Obi-wan’s displeasure from beside him, he saw his old master holding his tongue, allowing Anakin to take the floor in order to berate his Padawan.
Unfortunately, she had a point. And, embarrassingly enough, Ashoka’s argument came straight from the kitchen, so they say. Well, his mother, Shmi, used to say. Anakin remembered expressing the same frustration only a few weeks prior. Jedi Knight, Jedi Master, Council member and friend, Y/N L/N, was unable to join Anakin and Ashoka on a crucial mission in the outer rim, due to the passover of her new, young apprentice: Cal Kestis. It perhaps wasn’t the most fair or patient thing for Anakin to do, but he blamed the boy and focused all of his frustration on the twelve-year-old.
Fuck it, Anakin thought. He had to admit to himself, he was a little jealous of the boy. He could not help but want to be the center of your attention, at all times. Which isn’t a very Jedi thing to want. But Anakin wanted more. He always did. He always felt distracted, like he was slipping away from his mental fortitude the more he thought of you. You were playing some kind of long game with him, and he didn’t like it, the guessing, the pining - it all kept him up at night more than the war had.
Anakin supposed he was ought to be worried about it, but he couldn’t find it in himself to care. He pined after you, and all he wanted was for you to maybe, even consider him more than a work colleague.
“Ahsoka.” Anakin said sternly, as he pushed his Jedi mandated food around his Jedi mandated plate with his Jedi mandated fork, not bothering to look up at his young charge. “Watch your snippy mouth.”
“She’s not wrong, Master.” Meekly, Cal Kestis mirrored General Skywalker across the table. Anakin felt for the young boy then. Anakin looked up, finally taking in the boy. With his fiery hair and splattering of freckles across his face, he seemed inherently sad, with his lips held tight in a line. Anakin couldn’t help but remember the same expression on his own face as he made his way around Watto’s junkyard.
“Do you not like your Master, young Kestis?” Obi-wan sensed Anakin’s mind was far, far away, the anxiety rolling off him in thick waves.
Cal looked up, quickly, at the two Jedi knights in front of him. He felt like he was in shock, as if the air had been torn from his lungs. Of all the questions he expected to be asked, that was not one of them.
“No!” Cal defended, adamantly. “No! Well yes!” The young Padawan could feel the heat rise to his pale face, heating the back of his neck. General Kenobi quirked an eyebrow at the boy, urging him to continue. Kestis sighed, gathering his thoughts once more. He was embarrassed. “I am afraid I am too attached to Master L/N.” He started. Anakin felt his lip twitch, fighting a smile at the honesty from the young learner. Cal continued, “I don’t want to let her down, but my lightsaber skills are not where she wants them to be, I need more training but I am afraid to ask.”
From the corner of his eye Anakin watched as Obi-wan opened his mouth. He knew what his old master would say: Just ask, Padawan. That is what the master is there for, to teach. But Anakin knew what it felt like to want more.
“I would be happy to provide you with additional combat training, Padawan Cal Kestis.” Anakin leant back in his chair, both hands happily resting behind his head, left ankle at home on his right knee, lips comfortably in a smirk.
Long game it was.
Your eyes scanned the meals room in the Temple for your Padawan learner. You knew that you could use the force to locate him, if you wanted. But, your relationship with Cal was still so new, and somehow that felt like encroaching on the young boy’s privacy.
Besides, there was another presence in the large dining hall that almost overwhelmed you. Anakin Skywalker.
Arrogant, talented, intelligent, calculated, The Chosen One, handsome, flirtatious. You weren’t sure where you stood with Anakin. You longed to call him friend, but you were ultimately convinced he saw you little more as a colleague.
Despite all that though, he was a hard man to escape at the best of times. And now, since Cal and Anakin’s Padwan, Ahsoka Tano, were friends, you knew that Anakin would always be around.
You couldn’t help the schoolgirl flutter that it striked into you. It was exciting, you supposed, to finally have something a bit easy on the eye about constantly. It certainly made the war a little easier, to do missions with Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker.
Eventually, Cal’s beautiful bright hair shone like a beacon for you. You began to weave your way across the room. You couldn’t help to admit that you’ve become attached to him, you deeply cared for him, his wellbeing. As much as you loved the Jedi, you often thought of Cal playing, running free with kids his own age. Not becoming a soldier on the front lines of an intergalactic war. Perhaps that was why you slacked on Cal’s training. You simply wanted him to be loved, to be happy, to be a child.
All of the fondness you held so tightly quickly got packed away once you realised who Cal was sat with. Approaching the breakfast table you clocked Anakin’s relaxed figure. The effortlessly beautiful set of his lips, the way that his eyelashes curled upwards, you were convinced his demeanour was larger than life. And, maybe, perhaps, you let your eyes wander for a beat longer than what was socially acceptable.
Gently you placed your hand on Cal’s shoulder, perhaps it was because you were his Master, or maybe it was something deeper, something maternal, but you always felt more at ease when you had him close. With a slight bow of your head, you opened:
“Morning to you Master Kenobi, Ahsoka.” You took a moment to lick your lips, your whole mouth had gone dry, but you tried desperately to save yourself from Anakin’s piercing gaze. “General Skywalker.” The rest greeted you verbally, but Anakin said nothing, just a simple tilt of his head. You held Anakin’s gaze, his blue eyes held something else in them, you felt like he was playing some kind of game. You didn’t mind game, but only if you knew the rules, and Anakin was one to make up the play as he went along. You felt Cal clear his throat, his body lurching under your hand.
Finally, you broke the contact with Anakin, ruffiling Cal’s hair, and placing his braid behind his ear. “If you’d excusae us, my Padawan and I have much to do.”
Anakin waited for at least 30 seconds for you and your Padawan to start walking away before he turned in his chair to follow you out with his eyes.
Ahsoka watched as her usually oh-so-clever and suave and calculating Master watch Cal Kestis and his Master leave the dining hall like a Lothal Cat waiting for its owner to return. She couldn’t help but smile, Anakin’s pining was hilarious, and Master L/N was a good choice. She turned to share a look with Master Kenobi, and to Ahsoka’s delight he was chuckling softly to himself, coving his smile with his hand, playing it off as if he was simply stroking his beard.
Ahsoka knew Anakin thought he was playing some kind of long game, but it was going to be a painfully long pining. Not if she was going to have anything to do with it.

Peace
Tumblr media
Cal Kestis x f!reader
Warning: Smut but very soft smut, oral f! receiving, unprotected sex, grammar errors, No spoiler for Jedi survivor
Cal's only dream was to live in peace with you. To live on a planet away from the Empire. One they’d never find. Where he couldn't be hurt and, more importantly, you wouldn't get hurt. Maybe have a kid or two, but he would be more than content with just you and BD.
You and Cal had been in this fight for too long. Sure, it had its good times. Cal was sure you and BD could make any bad day better. Even when he was bleeding from a blaster shot, he truly believed your soft hand was all he needed to fix it (which was not true, he needed a stim, a bottle of bacta spray, and 20 stitches).
“Cal?” you ask quietly, rubbing your eyes gently to try to wake yourself up. “Go back to sleep,” he whispered gently, cradling your head. “Kinda hard when your staring at me,” you smile lovingly, Cal laughs.
“Just so beautiful,” he mummers, playing with a strand of your hair. “What’s on your mind?” you ask, knowing he's thinking about a lot more than your sleeping form. “Just our future.” he answers, his fingers finding their way to your scalp as he massages gently. “How do you see our future?” you try to pry, he smiles. “Always so snoopy,” he teases you, kissing your forehead. “If i was snoopy I would have read your thoughts by now,” you respond. He tilts his head.
“You know, having a home where we can be safe, having time to relax, spend more personal time together.” He throws in a wink at the end, “maybe get married,” he adds
“You’d want to marry me?” you ask, a slight blush appearing on your cheek. “Of course,” he answers, draping your thigh over his body. His fingers slowly move back and forth between your upper and lower thigh. He moves to kiss you, and you gladly return it. As the kiss deepens, he moves between your legs. Moments like this were rare for you and Cal, you never had too much time, and when there was, you both were too sore and bruised to want to do anything except cuddle up and go to sleep.
Cals kisses made their way down to your neck, causing you to giggle. His fingers found the bottom of your shirt, hinting he wanted it off. You obliged, lifting up your arms in response. The moment your shirt was off, Cal's mouth found its way to your nipple. His tongue circled it. This was all Cal wanted to be able to suck on your breast while you rutted against each other. He was always infatuated with your breast. He was ashamed of it and still partly is. He just can’t take his eyes away from them when you are showing just the tiniest bit of cleavage. Just the thought of cuddling into your breast gives him instant relaxation. But Cal was on a mission to please you, and if you keep rutting against him, he will not last long.
He moves his mouth down, kissing you all the way down to your panties, and his fingers drag down until they're on the floor. “This okay?” he asks before attaching his mouth to your clit. “More than okay, Cal” he wasted no time after those words fell from your mouth. His hot tongue circling your clit makes you arch your back. Your hands make their way to his red hair as you pull him as close as humanly possible to you. His short beard is rough against your inner thigh, and you are sure it will irritate your skin. But for now, you can't bring yourself to care. Your thighs close around his head. You aren't quite sure how Cal is breathing, but how his tongue darts in and out tells you he's doing okay. “Cal,” you moan, “gotta stop baby.” you moan, your hands not letting go of his hair even with your brain telling you to let go.
Cal's head pops up, “Kinda hard to stop when youe body keeps forcing me back down,” he laughs. The bottom half of his face is soaked in your juices. You pull him to you, giving him a kiss. “Need you inside me,” you whisper. Cal gives you a quick smile before going back to work. His big red tip looks painful and makes you feel bad for making him wait this long. Not that Cal minded. Your pleasure would always come first to him, no matter how much pain he endured.
Before Cal's tip reached your entrance, you stopped him, instructing him to sit. You straddle his waist, guiding his cock into you. You both let out a moan at the sensation. “Never let me take care of you…” you begin, “Let me take care of you… Like you do me,” you whisper in his ear. Leaving sloppy kisses on his neck. “Yes, Maam’ he responds. Your arms wrap around his neck as your start bouncing. His hands are firm on your waist, trying his best not to help you. Not that you needed it. You were doing amazing. Pleasing him more than he ever thought was possible. He had this urge and instinct to help you with every little thing, even when he knew you could handle it. But he had to control it this time, in fear if he helped you, he would be forced to take his hands off your waist.
“Mmm, close,” you moan. Your movement is slowing down and getting sloppy. “Cum for me,” he responds, brushing your hair from your face. “Not before you,” you cry, tears falling down your face. Trying your best not to cum on his cock, but it all feels too good. Cal's heart breaks at the sight of you crying in pain. “At the same time then, okay?” he brushes your tears away. You nod, pulling him as close to you as possible as you both come undone. Cal's hands rub up and down your back, “So good,” he whispers, leaving kisses near your jawline.

May the force be with you
Tumblr media
Cal Kestis x GN reader
Summary: Y/N has started to have feelings for Cal but doesn't know how to confess, maybe a love letter will help.
Warnings: Fluff time 😎
A/N: Hello, I apologize for not having included the "readmore" before (in fact I don't know if I did it correctly because they had never asked me before) and another apology if the story is not very accurate to the Star Wars universe (I'm not into it )
• • • • • • •
Maybe you always had those feelings for your friend. From the first minute you saw that red head and freckles like a strawberry. Yes, that must have been it. These feelings were not new, but even so in recent times they have intensified. Oh, yes indeed.
It all started in the last most recent mission. They were on the Mantis trying to look for the tombs of the three wise men. The map already had the exact coordinates, the destination was Dathomir. They got off the ship and headed towards some dark caves. It was wet and Cal had to light the way with his saber. You were lagging behind and the shadows were wrapping around you like a thin gauze, you ran in fear to his side and squeezed his hand, Cal turned his head towards you in surprise but then gave you a warm smile. He knew you were scared of the dark.
The faithful BD1 was clinging to Cal's shoulder. We went deeper and in a moment the place seemed more illuminated, the walls were no longer rocks but fat roots that rose from the floor to the ceiling. BD1 made a beep and quickly got off the redhead's shoulder and ran towards some kind of climbing wall and stopped looking at both of you.
"Looks like here is". Said the freckled boy with his hands on his hips looking up.
The white droid made an affirmative metallic noise, Cal smiled widely.
"Okay little one, hop on"
The boy stretched out his arm and the small droid climbed up to him to cling to his back. Then he saw you without stopping smiling
"Ladies first"
Cal extended his arm like a gentleman inviting you in as you bowed briefly, laughing. You held on tightly to the wall and started climbing it with Cal underneath you. He tried not to look up, blushing slightly. When you reached the top you saw him climb and with each step the muscles in his arms flexed and bulged, you had to shake your head to concentrate on something else.
Unfortunately the route did not end there, they had to cross to the other side and climb a wall that reached another rock. You approached the edge, you thought about whether you could jump but the gap was very long, you swallowed worriedly. Cal came to your side, reassuring you.
"Hey don't worry, I'm here with you"
His closeness and his affectionate squeeze on your arm made your cheeks redden and a chill ran down your neck. Of course he had no idea about all these sensations that were going through your body.
"I'll cross first, so you can see how I did it, okay?"
He offered generously and you nodded. For him it was easy, he was much more agile and flexible than you. Even when he was a simple worker he could jump and do pirouettes, you can't. With the grace and ease of a monkey he arrived at the other side in a second, then he looked at you with a nod of head inviting you to cross. You were still afraid, you tried to see how he did it but it had been so fast. Seeing that you were hesitant, Cal shouted at you, encouraging you.
"Nothing will happen to you, trust me, if you fall I'll catch you."
Those words, that simple phrase melted your heart. Now you were sure, you were in love with him. The tenderness with which he said that made you want Cal in your life more than ever so he could protect you. A little calmer you approached the wall and after steadying your feet you began to move to the right, always concentrating on not looking down. Don'tlookdowndon'tlookdown. Cal followed your every movement with religious attention, prepared for any possible fall. When you were about a meter from the edge of the other rock Cal advised you to try to push yourself to the right and jump. Your face contorted into a mask of terror, jump? Was he crazy or what?
"Just trust me!"
Of course you trusted him, you would even trust him with the most powerful weapon because you knew he wouldn't hurt you with it. You took a deep breath and followed his advice. You took a clean and jerk with your entire body flexed and jumped to the right, stretching your entire body and your arms trying to grab the edge of the rock. With horror you saw how your fingers barely touched the surface and you began to fall. An anguished scream calling your friend's name came from your throat, tearing the silence of the place. The freckled man quickly positioned himself at the edge of the rock as if his life depended on it and held you firmly by the wrists. The two of you looked at each other for a few seconds while your body hung and swung in the air. You were scared, but Cal was frowning with effort and huffing, but he couldn't stop a mocking smile from appearing at the corner of his lips.
"I promised you I'd catch you didn't I?"
A nervous smile appeared on your face. Very carefully he lifted you up and placed a hand on your back so you could sit up. Being so close to him created revolutions in your head and hormones. His gaze inspecting you up and down for possible injuries as he asked you over and over again if you were okay made you feel weak, your legs felt weak as if at any moment they could shake and fall with your knees hitting the cold, hard floor as you hugged his waist and you gave him looks with the eyes of a lost puppy, drunk, needy, desirous and burning with love saying "I am yours"
As your breathing quickened slightly Cal seemed satisfied with his inspection and they continued on their way with BD1 in the lead. You were still a little distracted by all your intoxicating and somewhat lewd thoughts about your friend that you didn't realize he was walking away so you shook your head and trotted after him.
The second time Cal gave you butterflies in your stomach (without him even knowing) was in Kashyyyk. A holocron had guided us there for the same reason, to find information about the Zaffo. Already on the ship we were preparing to land, Cal put on some of his ponchos because that day was cooler, you didn't want to be a weirdo who spies on people but you couldn't help but look askance when he put on his poncho in front of you. It looked so cute on him. They jumped off the Mantis that had already boarded and landed on the ground. It was a quite jungle place full of bushes and wild plants. You headed again to a kind of cave but this time illuminated because it had no roof, Cal and BD1 never left your side. You could see that there was a giant spider web on the ground, how disgusting.
"Be careful, there may be giant spiders here." Cal said, pointing to the spider web that you had seen and a look of concern tried to appear on your face but you suppressed it.
Another time you had to climb a wall, by this time you had already practiced jumping and climbing so you could handle this. When they reached the top they saw a kind of machine that Cal touched with his hand and a long rope was deployed above you, a zip line.
"BD1 would you do the honors?"
Cal looked at the droid that was on the ground, when it did a small cartwheel and then jumped on the redhead, Cal laughed amused.
"Wait, wait, do the honors for what?" You asked suspiciously and confused.
"Oh right, I hadn't told you. We will cross to the other side with the help of BD1"
The freckled redhead pointed to his little droid friend and he jumped up to grab the cable. BD1 beeped letting them know it was ready and waiting for them to grab onto it. You stepped back, if there was something that scared you more than the darkness it was heights, you had a lot of vertigo. Cal turned to look at you and saw you so serious and scared that he approached you worriedly to take your hand. And there the butterflies began to flutter in your stomach. He guided you towards the zip line slowly with tenderness, love and patience as if you were a child.
"Come, hold on to me." Cal raised your arms to put them behind his shoulders. My God, you felt like you were going to faint. You shyly wrapped your arms around his neck as he wrapped his strong arm around your waist, pressing you closer to him, you gasped in surprise.
"I'm sorry". He said modestly
"No!, I mean, It-It's ok"
Your head was on the opposite side of his, looking back and although you couldn't see his face you felt him smile in amusement.
"Alright, are you ready?"
Resting your head in the crook of his neck you nodded wordlessly. He affirmed his grip and when he told BD1 that they were ready you closed your eyes squeezing them. BD1 moved quickly and soon you felt that your feet were no longer touching the ground, you screamed scared but you knew that nothing would happen to you having Cal by your side. You opened your eyes a little and adrenaline invaded you, your hair was shaking from the speed and your breathing was short, you felt a rollercoaster in your stomach. When they reached the other side you felt a little dizzy as you got out of Cal's arms, you staggered a little still in shock and he quickly grabbed you by the shoulders.
"all in order?"
Cal looked at you attentively looking for any sign of discomfort but you were smiling almost laughing, the zip line ride had been more exciting than you thought and soon fear gave way to excitement. You looked at him and nodded, your hair was messy. He laughed and gently smoothed your rebellious locks that were sticking to your face, gently brushing them aside. The soft touch of his fingertips on your face and forehead sent an electric current again, this time throughout your spine. And damn, he didn't even know it and maybe he never will.
And here you were now, sitting at the desk in your room with BD1 staring at you sitting on the table to one side and with an old paper like a papyrus and a pencil in your hand and your mind blank. You sighed frustrated, you thought it was time to confess to Cal but you weren't good at talking, expressing your feelings. When you wanted to speak to him you couldn't find the right words. But you were better at writing than talking, a love letter would be an easier way to put your feelings in order without the pressure of seeing Cal face to face. Or so you thought. You still didn't know how to start the letter.
Dearest Cal
You huffed in annoyance, it was too formal. After all, he was your friend, not a stranger. You tapped the tip of your pencil against your head, thinking of new ideas. BD1 next to you had no idea what you were doing, you certainly didn't understand his language but it wasn't difficult to figure out what he was saying since the white droid looked with his head tilted at the paper and then looked at you.
"I'm writing a letter to Cal." BD1 looked at you as if waiting for an explanation.
"Yes, to Cal. A...love letter". The little droid jumped excitedly, you laughed.
"It's been a while since I had to confess my feelings to him but I didn't feel up to it, so I thought a letter would be easier. But don't tell him anything, promise."
BD1 nodded his head standing firm which made you smile tenderly. You closed your eyes and exhaled air through your mouth. You decided you wouldn't think so much and just let the pencil guide your hand. After letting your emotions and thoughts flow, the letter looked more or less like this
Cal I hope this letter reaches you on time and is not too late. I can no longer hide what I feel for you, I think I like you. And not as a friend, I really like you. I don't intend for you to feel the same way about me, I just wanted to let out what I feel and clear my mind and heart. Your always friend, Y/N
You put your pencil down shakily as you folded the paper into four. With your heart pounding in your chest like a drum, you could only hope that Cal wouldn't take it the wrong way, and even better, if he also felt the same as you. Suddenly you heard footsteps behind you and your friend's voice calling for his company droid. Pale, you quickly and clumsily shoved the paper into your pocket just before Cal entered your room.
"Hey here you are, I looked for you all over the ship!". He came up behind you as you turned around in your seat with a forced smile, dying of nerves inside. On the other hand the droid gave a happy beep. Cal noticed you and added, smiling.
"And it's good to see you too, we'll wait for you for dinner"
You responded that you would be there with an awkward laugh. Cal walked away from your room and you breathed a sigh of relief again, BD1 was still attentive to you.
"Here, take this to Cal, leave it in his room where he can see it please. I'm counting on you."
You handed him the folded letter and as if he were an agent on a special mission, the little robot ran towards the freckled man's room without being seen. You stood up laughing but then the smile faded from your face. What if Cal didn't feel the same way? You tried to push away those harmful thoughts. You took a deep breath to calm yourself and bravely left your room. And may the force be with you
The dinner was exquisite, the atmosphere was warm and familiar. It really felt like a united family. Cal couldn't stop making jokes and you laughed at everything he said or did with dreamy eyes. This did not escape Cere's attention, of course. After dinner you offered to wash the dishes with her.
"It seems like you and Cal get along well." She said casually
You stood looking at her confused with a plate in her hand and the sponge in the other dripping soapy water.
"Cal gets along with everyone, he's like that.". You said downplaying it
"Yes, but I could notice that he spends more time with you or looks at you in a peculiar way. Mmh, I wonder why that is?"
"What? Seriously?"
You couldn't help the astonishment that formed all over your face and voice. Cere had made you fall into her trap.
"Ah, I knew it! You like him, kid!"
"Whaaat? Me? pftt, I don't think so"
You cleared your throat and forced a strangely high-pitched voice that wanted to sound disinterested. But Cere wasn't stupid and placed a hand on your shoulder.
"I meant it. I've seen how Cal gets closer to you than the rest. Talk to him, I think the feeling could be mutual"
This fanned the flame of hope within your heart. You thanked him and went outside to practice with your cane. Cal was already in his room. You remembered the letter. You trembled nervously and ran out of the ship.
The sky was a beautiful twilight orange color. The afternoon breeze made your hair wave. You firmly gripped your staff and began to swing it in your hand, attacking and blocking an invisible opponent. Meanwhile Cal was sitting on his bed thinking about resting for a while when he saw a paper on his nightstand. He took it and unfolded it, when he began to read his heart began to accelerate. He quickly searched the entire ship looking for you, seeing you practicing outside he decided to approach. You were trying to spin your cane in front of you and wave it at the sides of your body but you were hitting yourself or dropping the cane.
"You're doing it wrong"
His deep voice behind you made you jump and throw the cane onto the grass. Laughing, he approached you and with the Force he attracted the cane that you dropped to his hand. He always boasted about his gift. Cal stood behind you, pressing his body against your back. Your breath hitched for a moment. He placed the cane in your hands, taking you by the elbow and guiding your arms forward. His head was close to your neck and tilted forward a little so he could see your hands. His chest pressed against your back made your ears turn red.
"Hold the cane firmly and do it like this"
His breath tickled your neck and shoulder and made you feel electricity. Cal guided your hands by placing his on top of yours. His hands larger than yours maintained firm but gentle contact and together they moved as if they were a single wave, as if they were practicing a dance learned by heart. When you were finally able to do the maneuver you wanted to do with your cane, he congratulated you without leaving you and you turned your head to look at him happily. When you turned to look ahead he took advantage of this and got closer to your ear.
"I already read your letter"
His whispered voice near your ear made your mind go blank and you worriedly bit your bottom lip hard. You turned to face him with your eyes lowered.
"Yeah about that, I-"
Cal grabbed your cheek forcing you to look at him, you could feel your cheeks burning as you opened your eyes enormously.
"Shh, You don't have to say anything. Why didn't you tell me before?"
"I was afraid, afraid that it wouldn't be reciprocated. You are the sweetest being in the galaxy and when I'm with you I feel complete and I didn't want to-"
You started talking so fast and you were getting so nervous that Cal closed the distance by grabbing your cheeks with both hands and crashing his lips against yours. It was a tender kiss, his shy lips barely touched yours for fear that you would reject him. He broke the kiss, looking at you expectantly.
"Don't stop." You exalted with drunken love eyes and his lips
Cal placed his hands on your hips and you moved your hands up to the collar of his shirt, deepening the kiss. Now his mouth covered much of yours with more confidence, but it was still delicate like everything about him. From the ship Cere looked mischievously from the window

See It Through

“Do you ever think this is wrong?”
You rolled over, cheek resting against his shoulder as you questioned, “This?”
His adam's apple bobbed as he swallowed, his head just barely moving into a nod before his eyes finally landed on you.
“Us,” he clarified, his eyes straying once again as he couldn’t bare to look you in the eye as he questioned everything you had.
It was silent for a moment as you allowed him to collect his thoughts. Then, he spoke again, “I mean- We’re both Jedi and the code… the code says this is wrong. ‘There is no emotion. There is peace. There is no passion, there is serenity.’”
With a sigh, you sat up. This was far too heavy a conversation for pillow talk. “The code said a lot of things, it doesn’t mean it was always right.”
“But what if we’re just playing into the hands of the dark side?”
You looked at Cal as he too sat up beside you, his brows tense as his thoughts ran rampant.
“What if the code was wrong? Nothing good can ever come from suppressing your feelings, trust me. What if it’s part of the reason the order fell? An absence of emotion only gives rise to the darkness, Cal.”
Your explanation was sound but he still wasn’t convinced. More than anything, he was still afraid of the darkness consuming him.
“I’m still having those dreams… The nightmares…”
You placed a comforting hand on his shoulder and admitted, “I know. You talk in your sleep sometimes but that’s not you, Cal. You’re stronger than that, you won’t become an inquisitor.”
He nodded as he let your words sink in but the code still rang through his mind, echoing through every corner.
“Emotion, yet peace. Ignorance, yet knowledge. Passion, yet serenity. Chaos, yet harmony. Death, yet the Force.”
He hummed in question, brows furrowing once again as his eyes landed on you. Those were the words of the code but they were different, not as he’d ever heard them before.
“After the fall, I fled. I was in hiding for years but I never gave up on the Jedi, on everything I had been taught. I travelled in search of knowledge. That is how the code used to be, years ago. We were never supposed to ignore or suppress our feelings. To find true balance with the force you have to feel your emotions and learn how to navigate through them, both the good and the bad.”
He hummed again, finally allowing your words to break through. “Control. Balance is about finding control.”
“Yes. Us… We’re not wrong, Cal. As long as we are in control of our emotions, we won’t fall into darkness. Besides, how can this be bad? What we have is good. Love is always a good thing.”
With a smile, his head hit the pillow again and he welcomed you into his arms as you lay back down beside him. “I love you too, you know?”
You closed your eyes, thanking yourself for the moment of quiet before Cal would inevitably drag you back into trouble again. “I know.”
The order had fallen but, by learning from the past, the two of you would build it up again. You’d make it better, reembrace the old teachings but move forward. There was a long road ahead and an empire to topple, but together you’d see it through.

posted this at work, enjoy. first peek into writing for cal.
11:28 pm. cal kestis. perseverance.
his breath was gratuitous. maybe in this moment more, because it usually was held deep in the muscle of his abdomen. hidden behind a ribcage - controlled with meditative practice, only exhaled through a steady release and flow. like this it wefted across the folds and fissures of the fitted sheet, only the light from stars could illuminate his freckled skin now, and like this you’d thank maker for giving you a gift as kind as this.
a lowly window sits behind cal, that was the wall the bed was created on. on the ship when greez couldn’t make the jump into hyperspace it always offered you more time like this. time to count the freckles on his cheeks and shoulders, wander your eyes over the scars on his abdomen that dare peek under his sleep shirt. see him illuminated by a sight of an endless sea of never ending stars.
“space,” you whispered to him as he slept, arm firmly tucked under your head with the other resting between your bodies. “it’s all here.” your touch lightens, you dance a ghost of a thumb over his cheeks. “you are the same, cal kestis.” you’ve been quiet enough and gentle enough to not wake him now. you press your lips to the center of his forehead between his brows and his face almost alters for a second as he barely graces into consciousness .
he hums a short, mm almost like a question as to why you’d kissed him seemingly out of the blue. you bite your lips in a smile and smooth his brow, he returns his arm to be heavy weight across your waist, effectively bringing you closer to his body heat. “sleep, star boy.” you remind him to which he drifts off without further question.
the jedi was running on fumes, if even that. the morale of rekindling his jedi flame was energy enough for him, yet rest was typically neglected and left him crashed in your hold for some hours on the mantis while he re-cooped. sometime soon greez would be able to make the jump into hyperspace and the countdown would begin of minutes left with him in your arms. but for now you’d count the breath, live and exist, if only to be shared with him.

Lost and Found, C. Kestis.
Based on a ask i received yesterday!!
Cal swung his lightsaber recklessly, carnage following wherever he went; his comm-link beeped as Cere’s voice filled his ears. “Cal, Focus on the mission, we need to find General Tarfful, as soon as possible… Look kid, i know you want to find (Y/N), but the mission at hand is more important” Cere said to him, Cal dashed across a wall, Memories from a few weeks prior lingering in his mind.
[A few weeks prior to current events]
“(Y/N)!!” Cal screamed out as his lover was dragged onto the ship like a ragdoll, short cuts and scratches scattered along their face, Cal broke free from the stormtroopers holding him and found his lightsaber, he sprinted towards the ship taking them away, before he could reach it however, the ship ascended into the air, far from his; or anyones reach, Cal tore the storm troopers apart, they had killed Prauf, He wouldn’t let them hurt his beloved partner, a fellow Jedi who had fled with him to Bracca.
[Current time]
Cal cut through the thick jungle vines, his arms growing sore as BD1 chirped innocently “I wish you could have met her BD, she was the most gorgeous woman you would have ever seen….” Cal spoke softly.
As Cal got closer to the imperial base ahead of him, his mind started to wander, thinking of how ecstatic his lover would have been to discover the tomb’s with him, knowing how much they loved exploration, often dragging Cal with with her to explore the shipwrecks and the area they had to live in. It was little moments like that that kept Cal going, that even now continued to live in hope that there was some type of peace in the galaxy.
Cal reached the base and started tearing through the dozens of Stormtroopers and an occasional Purgetrooper here and there, when he felt it, a force signature.. Your force signature, so familiar, yet it feels… weak, unnatural compared to the usually strong and powerful force signature Cal would feel during your irreplaceable nights spent together on Bracca.
As Cal wandered through the halls of the Imperial Base your force signature grew stronger, as if you had felt Cal’s signature as well, Cal started running through the halls, blocking rogue blaster strikes and killing whoever, or whatever stood in his way of you… he ran through the halls and reached what appeared to be a cell, in it, you lay limp on a cot, the only sign of life being soft blinks every few seconds and the soft rise and fall of your chest as you breathe shallowly, your mouth opens, a soft gasp escaping your lips as Cal rushes into your cell, picking you up off of the table, and using his comm link to call Cere. “Cere!!” Cal spoke as he tried to find somewhere the mantis could land without being attacked. “Yes Cal! What is it???” Cere responded quickly to Cal’s sudden words. “I found her Cere! I’m gonna need you to bring the Mantis to my location, I'm sending it to you now, they're hurt, you need to be quick…” Cal spoke as he approached a suitable place for the Mantis to land and take off quickly.
The Mantis landed on the platform and the ramp slowly descended, Cal moved as fast as he could carrying you, he laid you on his bed as the Mantis took off, sitting just above Kashyyyk’s Atmosphere, Cal sat next to your resting body as he used Bacta spray on larger wounds and cleaned them with a clean rag that sat inside the med kit underneath his bed.
[A Few Hours Later]
Light footsteps were heard as you walked into the ‘Kitchen’ of the Mantis, Cal’s head whipped around to face you as he rushed out of his seat and hugged you, You winced and hugged him back. Cal nuzzled his head into your neck as you embraced him, the two of you walked backwards, towards the back of the Mantis.
They pulled apart as they sat on Cal’s bed, looking into eachothers eyes, “I missed you so much..” Cal spoke softly, leaning his forehead against yours. You connect your lips with Cal’s, choosing to express how you feel with actions not words. “I missed you too, my love.” you said, intertwining your fingers, with his, you yawned and let out a stretch, several joints making a popping sound as Cal stared at you, eyes full of admiration for his lover. “How about you rest (Y/N). These past few weeks have been… eventful to say the least, i’ll stay right here, i promise you..” Cal suggested, as you laid down he joined you, and he stayed there, remaining by your side even as you awoke.
Thanks for reading!! <3 Have an amazing day, my little shooting stars!!
-Izzy.

Memories
Tumblr media
Summary: you recall the memories you have of your lover cal, because it's all you have left of him.
A/N: this is probably one of the worst things I've written and its probably awfully punctuated but whatever. PURE FULL/ANGST
--------‐-----------------------------------------
You remember alot of things about Cal Kestis. You remember how he was the first person on Bracca you laid eyes on when you ended up there, the both of you only being fifteen years old. You remember how you would stutter everytime he talked to you, whilst you were too busy focusing on how soft his lips would feel agaisnt your own. You remember the flustered mutual confession of desire for one another. You remember how the only time you would feel safe on the scarpyard planet was in the sanctuary of his arms in the confinement of his single bunk.
And you remember when the Inquistors came, killed the man Cal and yourself considered as a father figure and nearly killed Cal after he revealed himself to be a Jedi...You remember how you were left to pick up the remaining pieces of your life and abandon the planet you considered as your home for the past three years.
But now, five years after the events on Bracca took place, you realise you dont need to cling so desperately onto your fading memories, when the very person who caused some of your most happiest moments now stands infront of you once again.
"....Cal?"

Unknown Planet
Cal Kestis x Jedi Reader x Neteyam
Jedi Fallen Order
Summary: the mantis takes a hit leading to an unscheduled landing on a unknown planet
Warning: bold words = Na'vi, T-Bot
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yn/3rd person pov
"Greez watch out" I yelled as a empire ship fired at us hitting one of our wings "jumping into hyperdrive" cal muttered pushing the lever, I was forced into my chair as we entered hyperdrive "fuck this couldn't get any worse" I growled.
"Leaving hyperspace" cere warned and the mantis creeked and shook as we slowed down coming out into a peaceful galaxy I breathed out a sigh of relief unbuckling my seatbelt "how much damage do we have" cere murmured as I started using the scanner on my arm.
"The wing and engine is damaged needs immediately attention" I said looking at cal "what is the closest planet" I asked, he looked at BD who only beeped "a planet called pandora" he spoke running a hand through his hair "greez find a safe space to land so we can get to work" I sighed walking out the room.
"Hey you ok" cal murmured following me as I grabbed my bottle of water and taking a sip "it's like we do this everyday cal I'm tired of it" I said my eyes welding up with tears "do what everyday" I laughed dryly "we win against the empire only to get defeated the next its like a never ending loop we can't get out of and I'm sick of it" I muttered slamming my bottle down.
"We can never win" I choked as tears started running down my face "we fight and lose so much I can't take it anymore..... I just can't" I whispered the last part looking down at the ground he wrapped his arms around me "hey we can't give up now we've done so much" he reasoned "look we defeated most of the sisters and escaped darth vader himself we freed more planets then I could count because that's what we do".
I stared up at him "we have more wins then loses" he smiled "found a spot" greez called snapping us back into existence "I'll go get the tools" cal said pulling back and giving me a soft smile before leaving I sighed heavily and braced myself as the mantis landed "the airs not breathable so put these on" cere said and handed me a little device to me, greez and cal as he came back holding a box of tools.
I put the device on my neck and the others did the same "open her up" cal said excitedly and waited for the door to open "I'll catch up with you just now" I murmured as the walked out the door "now pandora what is the situation with you" I said to myself looking up pandora in my scanner "pandora, a planet revolved are a deity called eywa, that's cool, the natives speak a language called na'vi.... hey t-bot" I called in my tiny robot throwing her one of my small translators to her
"Please download the na'vi language on there" she beeped taking the device into her system "now what else do we know about pandora" I murmured scrolling down on the holographic screen "earth 28619 has been trying to take over and caused a horrific war which is still on going the main person being toruk makto or his human name jake sully" I spoke and turned off the screen "we better steer clear of the natives I don't think they'll like us here" I said picking up t and placing her on my shoulder as she beeped softly.
I walked outside and gaped at the beautiful view we landed on a small sand island surrounded by dark blue ocean with a few big rocks standing out "glad you finally decided to join us" cal laughed sliding off the roof and landed next to me "I did some research on the planet we should stay away from any natives" I said crossing my arms "come on have a little fun with place is nice" he smiled and chucked me a tool which I barely caught.
"You break one of my tools and I'll kill you" I muttered and followed him as he leaped back onto the roof "if you catch me you can" he yelled out running away "here t start with the smaller repairs" I murmured placing t on the roof before running after him "you bastard" I yelled out dodging some of the tools he threw at me "guys stop behaving like children" cere called and greez just cheered us on "got ye" I muttered grabbing his hood tightly "shit" he yelled as he pulled us off the edge and landed on the ground with a thud "dickhead" I groaned smacking him as I got off the ground shaking all the dirt off of me.
"Hey at least you weren't the one landed on" he whined stretching out his muscles I rolled my eyes before something in the distance caught my attention "somethings out there" I murmured pointing into the distance and cal followed my gaze "maybe it's friendly" he shrugged "doubt it" I murmured putting my hand on my light saber incase it decides to come closer.
Neteyam pov
"They don't have masks on" lo'ak said as he passed the binoculars to me "new experiment maybe" kiri grumbled diving back down into the water with her ilu "whatever it is must die" I muttered before looking into the binoculars and my breath hitched as I saw the two humans looking at us, the girl had her hand on her hip holding something "I'm gonna go get closer" lo'ak said and dived down before I could protest "lo'ak, lo'ak" I yelled but he didn't hear me I growled lowly and hit the water before following him.
Yn/3rd person pov
"I don't like this" I muttered and glanced at cal as he went back to work on the ship "your probably just being paranoid" greez said as he worked on the wing "yeah like you were on dathomir" I responded making cere and cal burst into laughter as I turned my attention back to the water it didn't feel right the planet didn't feel right.
"T pass me the translator" I called and caught the device as she released it and placed it on my throat "I know your out there" I called out "yn come on work on the shi-" cal said but was interrupted as two men surfaced out the water I pulled out my light saber and split it into two before igniting it "you know na'vi" the taller on said as they came a few steps ahead of me.
"We mean no harm our ship was damaged in battle and just need to do some repairs and we'll be out your hair" I spoke carmly "nice glow sticks" the other one laughed and the taller one just rolled his eyes and slapped the other one on the back of the head "I'm neteyam, this stupid one here is lo'ak" he murmured "what are you, you don't seem like the normal humans we get here" neteyam said looking between me and cal.
"Yeah he different isn't human" lo'ak chuckled gesturing to greese "we aren't from earth 28619 we are known as jedi and greez is latero" I murmured putting away my light sabers "jedi what's that" lo'ak asked tilting his head "we fight for the freedom of the galaxy" I answered crossing my arms "ok so your kinda like what my dad did" he said scratching the back of his head "you speak basic" I smiled.
"yeah our dad tought us" neteyam grinned "you should come with us to meet him he'll totally love you and your glow sticks" lo'ak chuckled putting his arm on neteyams shoulder "nah we're good but thanks for asking" cal murmured harshly as he jumped down I nudged his shoulder "maybe we could learn something" I muttered.
"But you said we should stay away from them" cal reasoned turning to me fully I rolled my eyes in annoyance "fine your right no thanks guys" I murmured looking at neteyam as he stared back into my eyes for some reason he made me feel safe "uh bro we should go" lo'ak said snapping us out our daze a light blush dusted my cheeks.
"Uh we're gonna go i-i'll see you soon" he smiled and gave me a little wave before leaving "come on let's get back to working" cal said and he went back to working but I just watched them leave 'why did neteyam feel like home' "yn come on" he called again I sighed out a deep breath before grabbing some tools to fix the engine.
-Night Time-
I layed out on the sand watching the night sky as the small fire kept me warm "I see your enjoying our beautiful night sky" I jolted up as I heard neteyams voice "yeah its really pretty" I smiled tucking a strand of my hair behind my ear the blush returning to my face as he sat close to me.
"It's not the only beautiful thing here" he murmured nudging my shoulder I giggled nervously as my blush darkened "how about I take you for a ride" he said nodding towards his ilu "i-i sure" I stuttered and took his hand when he offered it to me "careful the waters cold" he smiled stepping into the water.
A shiver ran up my spine as I stepped into the water "don't be scared" he murmured gently pulling me into his chest and lifting me onto the creature who let out soft murmurs and squeaks "I'll keep you safe" he whispered climbing on behind me and wrapped his arms around me securely.
"Legs go" he murmured as the creature started to move and was careful not to go fully submerge into the water "there's the 3 brother rocks" he pointed to each land mark as we passed them and his hands tightened around me as I shivered "I'll take you back now I don't want you to get sick" he said turning the ilu around and he chuckled as I let out an unsatisfied whine.
"I'll come back tomorrow I promise" he smiled and we started sharing little facts about eachothers lives and some missions I went on "dam now your life sounds way cooler then mine" he laughed as he slowly came to a stop as we made it back to the mantis "here ma-lady" he said hoping off before helping me off.
"I had a great time thank you neteyam" I beamed up at him as we made it to shore "it was wonderful to show you around" he said scratching the back of his head I bit my lip nervously looking up at him before pulling him down by his arms and pecking his cheek "I really mean it" I whispered backing up and giving him a small wave before entering the mantis.
-Next Day-
"Morning c" I smiled stretching out my tired muscles "hey yn" I sighed hearing cals voice "yes cal" I murmured turning to him "I just wanted to say I'm sorry for being an ass yesterday and I was being unfair" he said and his words actually made me smile "thank you for realizing that" I smiled before walking outside "so t what else do we still have to do" I asked the small bot, she beeped a few times "so we'll be out before sun sets" I murmured kinda sad.
"Yeah back on our fight against the empire" cal cheered wrapping his arm around my shoulder I sighed heavily "can't we stay here for a few more days" I said glancing at him "w-what why would you want to" cal murmured his eyes filled with hurt "I want to learn more about the planet and neteyam said he would help me" I said shyly looking down at the floor.
I heard cal gulp and breathe out "yeah ok I g-guess" he said, I looked at him shocked "really" I asked excitedly and jumped up and down as he nodded "thank you thank you thank you" I squealed wrapping my arms around and let go as I heard neteyam come out the water "neteyam I'm staying here for a few more days" I squealed running to him and he laughed out pulling me into a hug.
But behind the two was a jealous jedi who just felt like he lost his reason to fight the war.

Defintion of Home
Cal Kestis x Reader
(Chapter Four of Definition)
Summary: Definition of Home: the place where one lives permanently, especially as a member of a family or a household.
Warnings: none!
Tumblr media
•--•
You'd had few nightmares before, as you learned were caused by stress or traumatic events. Endless tunnels where your mom's voice would echo through the cave walls, bounce off every ceiling and every floor to torment you. Others showed you a home, but you could never step inside the door, as every step you took pulled you back a yard.
Tonights was more... sorrowful than scary. Waking up on the sectional, you had found the main room, one where you found comfort in, one that welcomed you instead of bored you. But you heard it, all around you. Your mom's laugh, the eerie noise of a generator shutting off. TeeZee's voice, which had never scared you before. You had clamped your hands over your ears, but the gaps of your fingers began to deepen, splitting your hands into the mere skeletal form they were so the noise could seep through the cracks.
It was all around you. Laugh. Generator, TeeZee. Chess. Chess. Laugh. Shut down. Emergency power. Lights blared, though it was darker than it had ever been. Laugh. Laugh. Laugh.
You bolted awake, your chest heaving with the consternation of the nightmare. A cold sweat had pushed it's way through your skin and darkly contrasted with the way your blood felt rushing through you. You around. Where were you?
Your eyes adjusted to the dark of the room, allowing you to see exactly where you ended up. You were sat next to Cal's bunk while he was, what you presumed, asleep. Your breaths deepened as you realized you were... what would be the correct word?
Definition of home: the place where one lives permanently, especially as a member of a family or a household.
Was home the word?
"Are you alright?"
Cal's voice startled you, making your hands shake with the freshness of a dream gone bad. You looked over to see his eyes open, finding yours in the pitch black.
"Yeah- yeah I'm fine. How did I.. why am I here?" you asked, confused to why you were sitting next to his sleeping form.
He moved onto his side, getting an easier look at you while you still rested by his waist.
"You said you didn't wanna be alone, so when you fell asleep, I tried to put to up here and sleep where you are now. But, you wouldn't let me," he poked fun at you, a smile spreading it's way across his lips.
Embarrassment rubbed against you in a way you hated. At least you knew how to feel embarrassed.
"What was it about? The nightmare," he asked, gentle as a thousand falling feathers hitting your skin. His voice made the noises feel far away, like you'd never heard them before. But they had happened. And they haunted the caverns of your mind like parasites.
"My mom. And TeeZee. It was so dark and.. I was alone- they were everywhere, but I was alone-"
Cal perked up and grabbed your hands, "Hey, hey."
You hadn't even realized the toying your fingers were doing and the shaking that racked your bones. You felt your ears burn, and your breath was heavy in your lungs.
Cal raised his voice with the call of your name, "Please, look at me."
You met the eyes of the gentle soul who held you together like a tower of blocks, threatening to spill out on the ground. But he held it together; held you together. He was the most stable person you knew.
"Everything will be okay, I just need you to breathe," he whispered, rubbing his thumbs into the palms of your hands with a softness you'd never felt.
You grasped his hands in yours and took slow, deep breaths. In. Cal's eyelashes fluttered against his pale skin as he watched you. Out. The bunk creaked as Cal shifted his weight. In. You found yourself still holding onto his hand, though you didn't need him as an anchor anymore. Out. You found yourself staring back at him, and his eyes that were so... what was the word?
You waited. For the sound of TeeZee telling you the definition. TeeZee? Did you lose him? Did you lose that voice inside of your head.
Definition of no: used to give a negative response.
Okay. No, you didn't. Then what was the word? You mentally scoffed at the droid.
"Can I-" you spoke up, looking at the bunk and back to Cal's eyes. You didn't know what you were asking, but you knew you couldn't sleep on your own like that.
For a second, you were sure that Cal was just as lost as you, till his body shifted itself till his back hit the wall, hair falling into his face in the process. His one hand had let go of yours, but the other which you still held onto pulled back with a firm grasp. You lifted yourself up on your knees before awkwardly crawling onto the less-than-comfortable foam that covered the cold metal. It felt nice after having slept sitting up, and you would take advantage of that.
Cal refused to let his fingers fall loose around your hand, but he laid there tense, with his shoulders squared. He looked the complete opposite of relaxed, watching you with sharp sight in the night. There was a soft glow somewhere to your back, shining a faint light onto his lower arm, but you were too captivated in his gaze to truly feed into curiosity.
Definition of uncomfortable: causing or feeling slight pain or physical discomfort.
"Are you... are you uncomfortable in this position?" you asked, giving no second thought to the words leaving your lips. You had noticed certain patterns that surfaced from co-existing near other humans;
You became more impulsive with the words coming out of your mouth.
His eyes widened, showcasing the green encircling his pupils like halos. Your index fingers absentmindedly ran up and down his knuckle. Maybe it was the temperature that made Cal's' face turn a darker shade, though, you felt fine with a simple sweater on. Perhaps he wasn't as cold as you felt.
His leg bent a little, shifting his arm before he spoke, "I don't want to make you uncomfortable. It's... uh, it's a tight space on this bunk."
A response to his statement didn't come to you, you didn't exactly understand why that would have made you uncomfortable. Of course you knew it was a tight space, if you didn't like it, you wouldn't have asked to be next to him. Your brain didn't click at his reasonings, so in a silent response, you scooted yourself closer to him. Close enough to feel his breath on your forehead.
Then you realized why that might have made you uncomfortable. You weren't, but the way his knee pressed to your thigh, and the way his hand holding yours disconnected on instinct to make home on your waist.
Or it was the way that your body screamed when you looked up to see how full his lips were. How the short distance made eye connection so much more... warm. Your body rushed with sparks from where his hand held your waist, and the way oxygen flushed itself from your body when your hand pressed to his chest, felt the dip in the middle and the warmth radiating through his shirt. Your legs wanted to melt like wax, but instead, his ankle wrapped around yours to bring your thigh to rest between his.
"I do not feel uncomfortable," you whispered, and you could see the way he reddened more from your close proximity. Were you as red as him with your blood having pushed against your cheeks and ears.
Like you before, Cal Kestis didn't response. Instead, he acted, allowing his hand to pull you closed to his body. Your leg was trapped between his, and both your arms moved to wrap around his waist, discovering how soft it was. You didn't know how much better you could feel from holding Cal. Though, you would say he was more of holding you, his stronger arms pressing your chest to his, palms flat to your shoulders and his mouth pressed into your hair.
Cal had you in his arms. He was holding you, and your body reacted with such wild feeling, like a thousand butterflies caged in your stomach were now rising for a revolution, tickling the inside of your stomach. And it pushed heat through your skin, till your felt you would sweat. You could smell him, the sent of wooded areas, the scent of somewhere so domestic it hurt you. Domestic.
Definition of home: the place where one lives permanently, especially as a member of a family or a household.
Definition of home: the place where one lives permanently, especially as a member of a family or a hou-
The voice of TeeZee overwhelmed you till you took a deep breath and let it out heavily against Cal's chest. He must have felt you shudder against him because he whispered into your head, "You're safe here. I'll keep you safe."
You eyes burned, and like you felt under the desk a few days ago, you started to shake. Your breathing went stiff and cold, and your eyes seemed to overflow. Tears fell from your closed eyelids, dripping down to curl at your ear and fall to the mattress. Other tears were absorbed into Cal's shirt. Your fingers gripped the same shirt wiping your tears, holding it, yet your palms pressed against his back to keep him close.
Definition of crying: the shedding of tears; weeping.
You caught your breath as a noise escaped your throat, the sound of a quiet cry that you felt yourself make too many times. It brought you back to days after your mother left, days where your body shook, and your face was wet, and your eyes always felt too warm. Days were stray hairs clung to your cheeks, the moisture holding the untamed strands captive.
Cal's hand rubbed over your spine.
Up. Down. Up. Down.
"You're okay, everything is okay. You're not alone anymore," Cal whispered, and it almost felt like his words struck you harder, made your body wrack with sobs harder. You spoke his name into his chest and his reacted with a, "Hey."
You didn't even know why you said it, but you repeated yourself with a high shaky voice. He seemed to understand how lost you felt, because he tangled a hand in your hair and allowed his fingertips to rub at the roots.
Your body felt heavy, exhaustion taking you the more you cried. You kept losing yourself in the smell of him, like the tears allowed his scent to invade your senses faster. Like an addiction, you allowed him to keep you stable, finding a comfort you had never felt, right there in his hold. And somewhere in the tangle of Cal's arms, you fell asleep with the last tear.
•--•
Waking up seemed like the end of dream, one that was so good you wished you could be sucked into it till the delusion became a reality to you. But the dream that was falling asleep in Cal's arms left you waking to the faint warmth of where he laid. You could almost still feel his fingertips rubbing into your scalp.
You laid there, on your side like when you had fallen asleep, and wondered if you could've returned the gesture had he slept in longer. It was something that lingered in your mind, like the same moment when you rushed up the ladder at the sound of his boots against the durasteel floor. The way he pressed you against him left the same feeling of pure joy.
You felt the muscles of your cheeks flicker again, lips pulling back to show your teeth. Rolling over onto your back, you scanned the back room. BD was dormant on Cal's workbench, a light flickering on the circular stand underneath him.
A strong urge to find the often pink-cheeked ginger surged through you as the smile on your face kept it's place seated there. You threw your legs over the side of the cot and stood up fast. Well, maybe too fast. A hand was quick to hold your head as a sudden dizziness took you over. After it washed over, you were quick to make your way into the main room.
There you were greeted to the smell of cooked food and the sight of-
Definition of home: the place where one lives permanently, especially as a member of a family or a household.
Your eyes locked with Cal's the moment TeeZee spoke up and it pushed color to your face with the same twisting, embarrassed feeling that you had seemed to feel more and more every day. He brought a hand to his face in order to push hair behind his ear, returning the smile that was still stuck to your face.
"What's got you all happy?" Cere asked, taking a noisy sip from a grey mug, steaming from the interior.
Your eyes shot to her, giving the ex-Jedi a good stare down, "I slept well."
Through her comment, your face fell and your smile, which had created a new air to the room, fled. You turned to inspect the counter, seeing a few bowls filled with what you presumed was oatmeal and various berries in the mix.
Before you could open your mouth to ask questions about breakfast, Greez was shoving at your back to sit down. You stumbled going down the stairs with his force accompanying you, but successfully at down next to Cal.
Curling your legs into a crisscross sit, you suddenly became aware of his presence. Yet, you ignored it on instinct, looking down at the way your index finger picked at the groove between your nail and finger, the thumb on your opposite hand being the victim to the habit you had picked up.
Your had lifted at the call of your name coming from Cere's mouth.
"We're getting low here, I think you should go with Cal on a supply run," she suggested, glancing over at Cal when speaking his name.
You tilted your head, "Which planet?"
"Trogan, that's where we've been going. Easy to get around unquestioned when everyone there is sight-seeing anyways."
Cere flashed a smile with her words and you found yourself giving the ghost of one back. Though, through the way your muscles twitch into a content smile, she still saw it. Raising the mug back to her mouth, she took another sip of the hot drink.
Taking a scan of the room, nothing big had changed. You were used to everything being in the same spot as where you'd taken it from, in the same exact position. It was something you grew a habit out of, and there was nobody to tell you that nothing needed to be returned just as it was. Just looking around a room such as the main lounge of The Mantis, you noticed little things that had shifted such as a blanket that Cere had set out the day before for you, it was slightly unfolded and hanging off the edge of the cushion. The cooking mittens that Greez had used yesterday lay strew on the counter-top, not a single living-being making an effort to slip them back into the drawer they were pulled from.
In a way, it comforted you. It didn't make you feel as frustrated as you thought it would, but it made you feel comfortable. Comfortable in the knowledge that you were learning. You were learning to drop these habits that made you the same as TeeZee and H6; robotic in nature.
•--•
You smoothed out the poncho Cal had handed to you the first day you stepped foot on the Mantis, feeling the rough material tickle your palms. Cere had excitedly played with your hair, styling it in a way you felt comfortable.
It still took some getting used to looking in the mirror, but the more you saw yourself, the more the thought of your mom made your stomach lurch.
You didn't look like her. Maybe you had her nose, or even a curve of her face, but you looked nothing like the woman you had pictured yourself as.
Stepping out of the bathroom, you found Cal sitting on the sectional with his elbows planted on his bent knees. His head turned in your direction the moment that he heard your boots against the floor of the ship. With one hand, he pushed back hair that had fallen into his face and stood up from the cushion.
"Do you reckon someone will recognize you?" you asked.
The question got a shrug of shoulders from Cal, "Nobody has so far, why?"
"Well, I read up on Trogan and, like Cere had said, tourists find it very interesting. But wouldn't that mean that the Empire also could find such a planet interesting?"
You didn't tell a joke or say anything explicitly kind, but Cal's smile grew into a grin the more you spoke. You felt the, now familiar, heat rise to your face, looking down at yourself to make sure that his reaction hadn't come from your physical appearance.
"You're smiling," you observed, giving him a pointed look.
It only seemed to encourage the growth of his smile into something he turned away to hide. And with the turning came his ignorance of your statement. Of course, confusion wracked your brain and you tried to find Cere in the room to ask her what his behavior was about, but she was nowhere to be seen. It must be odd living with sentients at all times, never knowing where they'd be the next second. With droids, it was almost predictable - few spots they took a liking to if they weren't right where they had been the last you spoke to them.
Cal picked something off the couch near the holo-table displaying various planets. A black bag that he slung over his shoulder and onto his back, and a brown satchel with a large lip, a latch in the center. Next to the latch was two pockets, both buttoned.
Cal was about to pull it up across his body before you interrupted his actions. "Can I carry it?" you asked, eyes meeting his, which had flickered over to where you were still standing.
"You sure? I usually carry both."
Nodding, you made your way to him, picking it off his shoulder. Your knuckles tickled the tips of his shirt and finger-tips seemed to flick at his head when taking it back over. It was lighter than you imagined it would be, throwing the strap of it over your head and allowing it to rely on your shoulder for stability.
Ready to exit the ship, you started towards the entrance. But, Cal stopped you immediately, slipping a hand between your arm and side, grabbing you at the elbow. You halted abruptly, turning.
"Listen, there are some things we need to talk about before we leave," he said with assertively, "I want you to keep with me, the markets can get crowded. If you lose me, stay right where you are - do not leave to find the ship or me unless you really feel like I won't come. Do not, and I mean, do not follow strangers, don't take anything from a shop or a stand without asking me first. I know you're smart, but it's my job to protect you."
Definition of protect: keep safe from harm or injury.
Your heart jumped, nodding, "I agree."
"Do you promise?" he pushed.
Your eyebrows knit together at his choice of words. Promise? Radio silence could almost be heard form TeeZee.
"What does promise mean?" you asked. Cal's features softened the same way they did every time you asked a question that seemed to strike him. Though, you had no idea why a question such as this one would.
He thought for a moment before replying, "It's something you say when you want someone to know that you will keep your word. I promise I will protect you, that means that I will always try to protect you, you never have to worry that I won't. I want you to promise me you will do what I said."
You returned his touch by reaching out to hold his arm as well, "I promise you, Cal Kestis, that I will do what you said."
•--•
I forgot how admirable a town could be. Houses lined the streets of Trogan, people walking around with smiles and bags, either empty or stuffed. Kids ran through the streets with laughter, barefoot without worry. Was everything this happy? Did the world have this much light? Were we ever meant to live in space ships which put a shadow over our lives?
"Is everything like it is here?" you asked Cal. He held your wrist with a firm grip, guiding you next to him. Though, he must've been convinced you could slip away at any given moment, because his fingers never relaxed.
His hair shifted at the turn of his head, "What do you mean?"
"I mean, is everything this happy? You mentioned an Empire in an... unpleasant light. Is everything as happy as it is here?"
His head returned to it's straightened state, looking out at the streets with faint music playing from speakers, flowers twisted in young women's hair, shared kisses and hugs along the brick streets. The winds danced with the people in a way almost choreographed, loose clothing moving against the forms and hair floated at the delicate blows. Maybe Cal had never stopped and looked around, never realized that everything was as alive as you'd ever seen. You had first thought The Mantis was the most lively place in the galaxy.
You were proven wrong.
His jaw tensed, then relaxed, "No, not everything is the same in the galaxy. There are planets where everyone is cold, and miserable. Planets I hope you never have to see."
A response didn't come to you, so you let the conversation be sucked into the direction of the winds. Ahead of you was the market, where more people were stationed and more feet walked. Fruit and clothes, various types of food and countless bags which had been hand-crafted by the owner of the small shack set up. There were candles and jewelry, toys and desserts. Everything you could think of was there, but Cal stopped you.
"Listen, I'm gonna take a walk through first before I bring you in. Stay here for a little, okay?" he asked, body so close to yours you felt the same heat he radiated last night when he held you.
You nodded, fingertips reaching up to feather across his skin as he dropped your wrist. Watching him turn and walk off into the market with long strides had you finding something other than him to ease your mind.
Along a stone wall behind you were few posters, taped up or pinned, some ripped and worn from the weather, and others in crisp condition. The curious fingers of your hand traced along the poster in front of you. It had Wanted in bold letters, a photo of a man with dark dreads and a golden line that wrapped over his nose and continued over his cheeks till it disappeared into his hair. He looked powerful, and from the front profile, you inquired he was wearing robes.
Quinlan Vos. Maybe Cal would know him.
You skipped over that poster and onto the next, a simple festival poster that seemed to have expired over a month ago, the edges tattered and the times illegible.
Trailing the stone wall, you found pleasure in the things people printed about, finding only more and more questions that needed to be asked, things you had to know. Why did that man have a bounty on his head? What was a yard sale? Who was the masked man who was on the poster supporting the empire? Who was this person beckoning people here, happy people, to enlist? What were credits and how did one acquire them? What is... "marriage?"
Continuing on, you watched two women walking together - a togruta and a human. The togruta, smaller than the human, wore a large smile as they walked, telling a story that must've meant the galaxy to her. And the human female smiled down at her, eyes seeming to glow in her gaze. Your eyes trailed to where their hands were connected. What were they? Were they friends? Family? What was the word you were missing, the one that rested on the tip of your tongue when you wondered what your parents were. The word together felt too... broad.
But, you dropped the thought even if it would plague you in the later hours of the night, turning back towards the variety of posters.
Then there was a poster that forced your heart to drop. A poster that you wished had looked like your mother, but instead it looked like you. Small, with a toothless grin, front teeth missing and a bow in your hair, there was the little girl that had been left on The Hysteria. There was the little girl you had partly seen in the mirror, because she looked exactly like you.
Your breath seemed to close off, like your lungs were refusing you enough air for what you were supposed to be allowed. You realized it quickly, the panic that was unfurling through your body and the invisible force clutching at your ribs, trying to pry them open.
Instinctively, your arm reached for the poster, snatched the part of the paper that read your name and pressed it to your chest. You didn't care for that information now, you didn't want to know who you were supposed to be, you only wanted that paper. No, not wanted, you needed it.
Folding it with more caution, you let the paper fall into fluffy squares, allowing the fragile paper to take a rest from the way you grabbed it with such hostility. Opening one of the front pockets of the satchel, you tucked it in there and latched it before turning on your heels. Not too far off, you watched Cal give a twice-over of the market before jogging his way back to you.
"All clear," he said with a huff.
You looked up at him after he stopped himself fully from his motions, giving a forced smile. And it was the largest one you had ever dealt.

Through the Galaxy
Cal Kestis x Reader
Tumblr media
Summary: You and Cal are kidnapped by the Haxion Brood Bounty Hunters. After fighting your way out, the encounter makes you realize how much you really care about eachother on more than just a friendship level. Fluff
You first encountered the Mantis crew on Kashyyyk, where you helped fight for the freedom of the Wookiees. You remembered watching the AT-AT in awe as it broke through enemy barricades and leveled their defenses in your favor. You admired the bravery of the pilot and were shocked to find it to not only be someone your age, but a Jedi.
You thought they were all gone, but there one stood just feet away from you. There was something incredibly inspiring knowing the Jedi and the hope they represented was still around and you wanted to be part of that message. Not only did you feel the need to help their cause, you also wanted to help them in return.
Since then they have accepted you into the crew and you have gotten along with everyone on board. Even Greeze, who you were not sure you could ever sway, had accepted you into the team. They were the reason you were allowed on board and were now pacing around the Mantis.
"Ugh! I need to stretch my legs or something." You complained to Greeze as you impatiently waited for the young Jedi to return to the ship.
You blamed your impatience on feeling cooped up on the ship, but you were really just worried about Cal. Sure he was a skilled fighter and a Jedi, but that did not mean he could do everything on his own.
"Then go for a walk. This is Zeffo not Dathomir." He replied mindlessly as he focused on fixing his ship. If it was not for him being distracted and in need of some peace and quiet, you don't think he would encourage wandering off. Still you took up his offer before he could take it back and took your first steps on the new planet.
It was a beautiful place to you and, compared to the dark shadowlands of Kashyyyk, it was very safe. There was only a handful of threatening creatures around and the foliage did not seem to come to life to try and kill you.
Your tour of the land lasted about fifteen minutes until you felt unsettled once again and had your thoughts turn back to Cal. Since you knew where he was heading, you went after him and used the shortcuts he opened to easily catch up. Eventually you made it deep inside the underground caves where you found Cal fighting a bounty hunter.
All Cal could do was deflect the hunter's blaster rounds since they came at him too quickly for him to use a force attack. The bounty hunter's jet-pack also kept him just out of range for the Jedi's light saber.
Immediately you took your blaster out and struck the armored man in his abdomen. Since he did not expect the attack, he could not block it and stumbled to the ground. Cal took the opening and got in a few heavy hits, before the hunter returned to the air.
"How'd you get over there?" Cal questioned, as he glanced in your direction to see who was suddenly assisting him.
"Carefully," you immediately joked back as the hunter activated an impenetrable glowing shield that trapped the two of you in a small space with him.
"You really shouldn't be here," Cal stated in concern as his guard fell from a particularly heavy attack from the enemy.
"You were gone too long," you replied as you jumped in to his defense. You fired more consecutively to cover Cal and gave him time to gather himself. This action only earned you the bounty hunter's attention and unlike Cal, you could not save yourself from blaster rounds.
You braced yourself for what you knew was coming next but instead the hunter was thrown into the wall by Cal's force push. The Jedi rushed in while his enemy was still stunned, only to have the tables be turned on him.
In a series of quick attacks you could not comprehend, Cal was left defenseless. The bounty hunter sprung a trap and silver cables wrapped around Cal's body before they became electrified. Cal yelled before he was rendered unconscious and fell to the ground like a heavy weight with BD-1 by his side.
Fury overwhelmed you at the sight of your new friends who were being put in danger. You were determined to protect them, even if you would probably lose. You squared off with the bounty hunter and glared at him with angry fire in your eyes. He stood across from you, and taunted you as you both stared each other down, waiting for who would make the first move. It did not take long for you to attack.
You rushed in with heavy blows since you did not want to give him the opportunity to fire upon you from a distance, but that was a mistake. His armor prevented you from attacking him with melee or firearms, and an attempt at disarming him was met with a harsh blow to the side of your face. You gripped his weapon until your knuckles turned white and foolishly tried to wrestle it out of his hands in a desperate attempt to gain the upper hand. So, he pushed the butt of his firearm out until it crashed into the side of your face and threw you to the ground.  While you were still down, he hovered right in front of you, aimed, and stuck you with the same odd wires that trapped Cal. Electricity ran through your whole body, filling it with intense searing pain. A raw scream was ripped from your throat and you were immediately sent into darkness.
When you woke your limbs felt tingly and numb as if they fell asleep. Despite the pain and inconvenience, you pulled yourself up on wobbly legs and studied your surroundings. Of course, you were now in a jail cell, but panic only set in when you noticed Cal was missing. Immediately you began calling out for him.
"Cal! Cal!" You shouted desperately into the empty halls.
"I am ok," he replied groggily, seeming to have just woken up as you have. Relief swept over you. "But BD-1 is missing and so is my saber,"
"Don't worry. We'll get them back, we just have to find a way out of here first!" you reassured and immediately began looking for an exit. Your ran your hands along the cool metal walls, feeling for any breaks in it. Soon you found a crevice where a panel was.
"There's a panel on the left wall! Think you can open it?"
"I'll try!" Cal responded as you began kicking the metal panel loose. You focused all of your energy on one area of the panel till it popped up slightly. On the other side of the wall you heard the tearing and clattering of metal, telling you Cal had already successfully opened the panel and discarded its cover.
"It's a port. One second!" another clatter was heard from the cell, then it clicked open, "That did it!"
"Yeah, well. I could use some help over here." you replied, finally successfully ripping off one of the metal grates to reveal the port.
Cal approached your cell doors and let out a small chuckle at your predicament, "Here, let me help." At an impossible to reach height on the wall, was another panel he drew your attention to. "Stand back." You listened and hugged the wall, then he tore the metal off and threw it against the opposite wall.
The chord came down in a flourish as he presented it to you. Taking hold, you gripped the chord tight and pressed it into the lock. The bars hissed and raised open. Immediately you ran into his arms and held him in a tight hug, before realizing what you were doing. Cal froze up in surprised, but seemed to melt into the gesture right before you pulled away. A noticeable blush dusted his cheeks.
"Sorry! I've just been so worried about you. Then you get kidnapped and--"
"Hey it's ok. Having you around makes things....easier. And not just because of the fighting." He paused, thinking  over if he wanted to say more, "After meeting Cere and Greeze, it's kind of hard being alone again. Like I am being pulled to a dark place."
You continued to walk down the hall in high alert, his statement still rattling in your brain until you could not help but bring the topic back up and hope he would not mind.
"How does that feel? The dark side?"
"Heavy....and confusing. Like is clouds my mind. But with you here it makes it easier, so thanks for that."
"I am literally just standing next to you Cal. There's really nothing to thank me for." He stopped in his tracks and turned to you.
"No really. Having you around has really brightened up the ship and I don't know what I'd do if you weren't around." Looking up you noticed that you both stopped at the edge of a large drop with no way across, "Save this talk for another time?" he questioned looking forward. You just nodded in response.
"I'll find a way for you to get across." He stated and ran across a vertical wall that was on your right then slipped through a door on the left wall. You felt your stomach sink as you were briefly left in what now felt to be a quiet and imposing room. You wondered how Cal handled these situations so easily. At least when you were fighting on Kashyyyk you were never alone.
A rustling was heard from your left and Cal broke the weakened bars of a cell that held three dead Sploxs. You ignored the meaning of their death as best as you could and tried not to jump to any ridiculous conclusions that were already forming in your head. Instead you followed behind Cal, who seemed to have great intuition on how to escape wherever you were.
The next obstacle that crossed your paths was a large gap you had to clear. Cal jumped straight across with little evidence of impact since he firmly landed on two feet. You took a running jump, your arms automatically waving in the air until your landed perfectly in a crouched position. Cal remained at your side until he knew you safely crossed.
Straight ahead was a room with an elevator that needed power....and a droid to power it. The realization rested heavy on the two of you and you felt worried about the poor droid. After fiddling with the multiple ways you could plug in the chords, you finally found the right pattern that allowed you to unlock a blast door on your right. You ran through them, still uneasy and questioning about the lack of resistance. You were in a full out jail break at the moment, shouldn't there be guards chasing you?
Down the long hall was a chute that disposed the dead bodies of different creatures by dropping them into a bottomless pit.  You grimaced at the sight and tried to find a way across the gaping hole since once again, the only way across was a vertical wall. Cal ran across the wall and landed on the other side of another cell.
"BD? BD-1! Is that you? We found you! Are you ok!" Genuine concern and relief dripped off of the young Jedi's words as he found his partner safe and sound.
"You found BD!" You shouted excitedly.
"Yeah! He's ok! We gotta get him out!"
You looked over the room for anything that hinted at a way to open the cell doors and everything clicked when you spotted the ledge above Cal and BD-1.
"Pass me the cable!" you announced. Cal did so without question as you pulled the long chord against your body.
"There's a ledge up there and I think I see a port!" you announced.
"How will we get up there?"
"Like this!" You clung to the chord and took a running jump off of the ledge. You laughed and a bright smile Cal enjoyed seeing graced your face as you briefly sailed through the air. The wind blew back your hair and the exhilarating activity thrilled you.
"Just like that huh?" The red head questioned with a smile of his own as you landed beside him. You nodded, still feeling oddly buzzed from the jump. He took the wire from you, jumped as you did and waited till he had enough momentum to properly dismount. Once he was on the ledge, he used the port and lowered the door. You ran in while Cal dropped from the celeing and bee lined towards the little droid that beeped and trilled excitedly.
"Hey! We're happy to see you too!" He greeted, as he looked the droid over for any harm until he spotted the restraining bolt. "Let's get that restraining bolt off of you. Those jerks." Cal was gentle and careful with his actions. He picked up a cutting tool and broke the seal that melded the bolt onto the small droid. You stood back and smiled as you enjoyed  the soft interaction he was having with his friend.
Once he was free BD-1 scurried to your side and ran circles around you like and excited puppy. You laughed in response, before crouching down to see him. "Yeah. I am happy to see you too buddy. No way we were gonna let something happen to you." He trilled back in excitement and returned to his rightful place on Cal's shoulder.
"Poor droids. Let's get out of here before the same thing happens to us." Cal commented as he looked over the room that was covered in metal scraps of other droids. You tried not to think too deeply on how terrifying it must have been for BD-1 to share a room with them.
You returned to the elevator room, re-arranged the cables once again and were dropped off in a tunnel that lead outside. Loud music filled the air and Cal smirked as he knew the song.
"Hey, I recognize this band." He casually stated.
"Really? Sounds cool, you should show me some of their songs."
"Sure. Once we're back on the Mantis."
Once you reached the end of the hall you realized you were in an arena. Then a large hologram of who you assume is the leader of wherever you were appeared. "Ugh, finally, they arrive! We had action on how long it would take for you two to get here."
"And who are you?" Cal questioned aggressively while taking a step forward.
"Who am I? I am Scor Tormo baby. I'm the boss of this operation. You have Greezy Four-Arms to thank for bringing us together,"
"I will. As soon as we get out of here," he confidently joked.
"You might get out of here Jedi, but you really think your little girlfriend will."
Cal turned to you with a proud smile. "Yeah, she'll be fine."
"Eghh." Tormo grimaced at the unexpected kind compliment that almost had you blushing, "We have a special challenger for you tonight. An enforcer from a bygone era. A Jedi! Let's see what he's got. Oh! Somebody get baby his toy."
Seemingly from the sky, Cal's lightsaber and your blaster fell. You quickly snatched it from the air and formed up with the red head. With your back against his, you both stood in a defensive position and readied for a fight. The side gates opened and Flame Beetles flooded in.
Thanks to your time on Kashyyyk you knew how to easily dispose of the creatures. With a steady hand and a skilled shot, you hit every enemy straight on. You even killed your group off thirty seconds faster than the Jedi who had to use a more hands on approach. Then a Oggdo and more Flame Beetles were released.
"I'll cover you," You quickly stated. Cal nodded, appreciating the help, and rushed towards the larger enemy. He went for the large toad's tongue first and cut it off to leave is practically defenseless. You continued to shoot down flame beetles that got to close to your partner and made sure they died in a way that allowed them to explode and hurt the Oggdo. Once it was dead, Cal turned to you with a goofy, proud smile and you returned it. It had been so long since you fought together, you had forgotten what a great team you naturally made.
"You get the hang of it quick," Scor Tormo announced as what almost seemed to be a compliment.
"Maybe you should come down here and face me yourself," Cal fought back in his usual way.
"I'm too busy counting my credits." Two pods rose from the ground a multiple types of enemies spilled out of it. Scazz, Splox, Bane Back Spiders and Bog Rat's to name a few. They rushed towards you in a merciless wave and you ran to put distance between each enemy.
Cal focused on the Splox and Bane Back Spiders since their armor prevented your weapon from doing any damage. You took on the Scazz and Bog Rats that tended to burrow into the ground and pop up to attack you. The Bog Rat's were easy to take out since all you had to do was be patient and wait for them jump out of their burrow. Once they did, you placed a well aimed shot to their chest and killed them. The Scazz were trickier to you. They easily dodged your blaster rounds due to their quick movements and were hard to kill before they closed in on you. Throughout the hardship of fighting, Cal still managed to keep up a conversation with you.
"How many songs do you know by that band?" You questioned, as you fired upon the weasley Scazz.
"Most of them. I have their songs on the ship. I'll show you some of them," he replied, rolling out of the way of the spider's web attack.
"How about tomorrow. I am sure we can find some time."
"Yeah, tomorrow,"
Two Scazz flanked you at once cutting off your conversation and forcing you to focus on one at a time. The first one that rushed you gained your attention, but as you fired it deftly jumped to the side and your rounds ended up doing nothing more than charing the ground. Finally, when it was about to bite you, you were able to quickly hit it three times since its close proximity made it an easy target. But you failed to stop the second attacker. The rat's teeth attempted to clamp down on your hand, but luckily just bit down on your weapon instead and you were not strong enough to rip it from it's iron jaws.
"Cal!" You called out to your partner, who immediately rushed over and split the rat in two with his light saber. The smell of chard flesh reached your nose, but you ignored it as relief from not getting seriously injured enveloped you. "Thanks." You mumbled, out of breath. For a moment you let your guard down, only to go rigid again as the side gates opened one last time. Again, the two of you stood back to back as you faced down your final opponents. A Jotaz and a giant Bane Back Spider.
You separated the two beasts. Thankfully, the Jotaz was large and slow. A perfect target. You relentlessly fired upon the creatures and rolled out of the way of his heavy attack when it got too close. Its swinging arms came at you in a flurry of motion, but instinct and adrenaline took over, allowing you to smoothly avoid its attacks. Once you got behind it, you were able to deal real damage and it succumbed to its wounds. As you turned, you saw Cal was in trouble with his enemy that in your opinion was a bit trickier than yours.
It was quick on its feet, had the ability to incapacitate thanks to its webbing and could do ranged attacks with acid. Still, seeing the Jedi being pinned down by the great spider, its teeth nashing at his face, was a jolt to your system. You had to hurt the spider enough to get it off of Cal and your weapon would not cut it. So, you unsheathed a knife you kept on your hip and jumped onto the spider's back.
You dug the knife into its soft flesh and it immediately reared onto its back legs. You gripped harder onto the hilt of your weapon in an attempt to hang on. Cal, now released, reactivated his lightsaber and thrusted it through the spider's now exposed thorax in a way that did not harm you. It fell to the ground in a giant heap and Cal helped you get away from it.
"I believe you know our next challenger." Tormo announced, which annoyed you. You were tired from fighting so many waves of enemies, how could there possibly be more? "The Haxion brood is gunning for ya!"
A large droid jumped down into the corner of the arena. Tired and out of breath, you stood back to fire upon it from afar while Cal rushed in as he usually did. He deflected every round that came his way back at the droid thanks to his double-bladed saber, and effortlessly rolled under its more physical attacks. You envied the level of skill Cal fought with. In the end you successfully decommissioned the droid and BD-1 gave both of you a healing stim to sooth your wounds.
"What do you mean incoming? It's the Mantis! Blast it!" Barreling towards you was the Mantis. A ship that never seemed too large to you until it was destroying half of an arena. The entrance ramp lowered and Cal ushered you on with a wave of his hand.
"There's no escape! I'll chase you across the galaxy if I have to!" Tormo yelled as you ran up the ramp and made it into the Mantis. Knowing Cal had to have an important private conversation with Cere, you left them to it and went to find a place to rest.
You sat on the edge of a a rooftop at the abandoned village and let your legs dangle off of it. You admired the sky as the sun set in a beautiful display and enjoyed the quiet calmness that settled over the land. There seemed to be nothing quite as calming as a quiet sunset.
You sensed someone standing behind you and knew Cal would be the only person who was too awkward to interrupt your moment.
"Hey there mister Jedi," he shuffled behind you and was caught off guard by you knowing he was there. He was trying to be so careful to not interrupt you. And there was something about seeing you in such a calm and relaxed and open state that made him want to stop and stare.
"Yeah, uh. Greeze wants you back inside for dinner." In response, you just padded the spot next to you.
"Come on. Have you ever just stopped to enjoy the place you're at?" Your question made Cal stop and think. Since he started his whole adventure he's never had time to sit and rest. No one on board encouraged it. But now that you were on board, maybe you could force him to stop and take a breath once in a while.
"I'll take that as a no," you joked back at his lack of a response.
You placed your hand on the ground, only to have your fingertips brush against Cal's. It was a calming sensation and you were surprised when he moved his hand closer to yours so the sides of your hands were also touching. It was a small gesture, but you were aware on how long he had been on his own, so touching was something he was still getting use to. Though he was making great progress with you.
You sat criss cross on the ground and patted your lap, Cal took the hint and rested his head on it. Your hand immediately went to his hair so you could calmly comb your fingers through it to sooth him and he seemed to appreciate the contact. It soothed him as he let out a deep breath and closed his eyes in response. Maybe this was the forced relaxation he always needed.
Above you stars started to light up the night sky in brilliant pin pricks of light and waves of color. "Remember the talk we said we would save. Back when we were dealing with the Haxion Brood?" Cal suddenly questioned. His voice distant and mumbly.
"Yeah, we were talking about the dark side and--" you began to run your words together in haste, but the young man cut you off.
"You. I was talking about you." His hand reached out to meet yours and held it still. You swallowed hard as he sat up to sit across from you, legs crossed just like yours. "Do you remember?"
"Yeah, of course I do. It was flattering." You replied, trying not too look too deeply into his past compliment. He was a humble person, who gave credit and compliments to everyone on the team.
"I just appreciate having you to open up to. About my past and my good and bad thoughts. You don't worry me with whether I am leaning to the dark side or not. You let me have my doubtful thoughts and treat me like a person. Not just a Jedi." He let out a deep sigh and brushed his right hand through his hair in a stressed and nervous habit. "I know it's a lot I just wanted to share with you how much you mean to me and just.....that I like you." He tapered off at the end, not knowing what to do next and feeling deep regret for taking the risk of admitting his feelings in the moment.
Maybe he should of planned it out. Taken you to a nice place in the Kashyyyk Shadowlands or even Zeffo or the Kyber Caves. The anxious thoughts left him when you replied.
"I like you too Cal," you admitted and finally getting those words out was a weight off of your chest.
He stood for a moment, staring at your lips in hesitation despite your consent. Then he leaned in and pressed his soft lips against yours in a tender touch. Your body was left tingling in anticipation and a calm warmth washed over you both. The kiss was gentle and soft, yet it left you speechless. He gently pulled away, eyes fluttering open and half lidded as he stayed in his blissful moment watching you.

Pairing: Cal Kestis X Jedi!Reader
Warnings: fluff, love, tired, LOVE
Words: 233
Summary: in the request
Note: Sorry for the mistakes and the English.
...................................................................................
Everyone in the Mantis was tired of the affection exchanged each time between the two Jedi after all the missions, it was cute to see but made you realize how lonely you were sometimes.
The two Jedi Cal and Y/n were in a relationship despite the Jedi code forbidding it, the two were just made for each other, deeply in love and very good friends since childhood, they fought side by side covering each other's backs always.
They had different pasts but that had not separated them, leading them to what was now their friendship, just the kind of best friends-to-lovers story with the usual clichés that only made the couple cuter.
Affection was always present between them, no matter the place or who they were surrounded by, they could exchange kisses of any kind so randomly just to show each other that they cared and to show the love they felt for each other, the corniest moments were mostly after more dangerous or serious missions.
When they were alone it was different from when one was around, it was literally as if they were teenagers in love, exchanging kisses while murmuring sweet nothings to each other or just talking while cuddling ignoring the stares of the Mantis members who tried some times to separate them for a few hours ending up regretting it since the two became more cheesy every time.

"I Will Always Find You"
Tumblr media
Pairing: Cal Kestis x Reader
Summary: Reader and Cal are bonded by the force. Too bad the coucil can't see past her empathic abilities.
Request: No :( but requests are open! especially for this boi.
Warnings: kinda angsty and sad but also fluffy, mean Jedi council.
Author notes: Third person POV and no use of Y/N. Kinda a force mate thing because I love the concept of that. Does anyone else think that they need to embrace some emotions and be people? Idk I feel like peace keepers need to be able to empathize.

Cal Kestis was one of the most caring Jedi she'd ever met. Growing up in the temple, she had been taught that all Jedi were supposed to be kind and gentle. Yet for her, that wasn't the case.
Blessed by the force with gifts the Jedi had not seen in years. Ones they believed could only lead down a dark path.
Emotions are a sensitive topic amongst the Jedi.
First they tried to force it down insides of her. Then attempted purging it from her memory. When they realized it was only growing stronger, the held her in a cell. Punished for something she can't control.
Having trained another who is strong in the force, Master Obi-wan Kenobi did his best to help her understand her powers. To guide her into becoming a strong Jedi knight. He was the first kind Jedi She'd ever met.
After finally showing enough improvment the coucil let her roam the temple. That's when she met him. More like he ran into her.
Somthing happened upon contact. A warmth like no other settled on her mind as she basked in his boyish glee over whatever he was running too or from.
"I'm so sorry!" he had all but shouted. An awkward tint forming on his cheeks.
Not having much contact with peers her age left her clueless as to what comes next. So she settled for smiling and nodding.
A spark formed that day. One neither of them could put out no matter how much they tried. They always found themselves seeking eachother out. Even learning to communicate through the force.
It didn't matter how good at hiding she had become. Years of practice evading her elders and yet he knew where she was.
"I will always find you." That was the first time she'd heard those words. Though at the the time she believed them to be arrogance over winning another game of hide and seek.
She would always know what he was feeling regardless of the distance. He always knew what she was thinking.
There were no secrets between them, no hidden skeletons. Yet he loved her regardless.
He wanted to fight for her. Get the coucil to see her side of things. Begged and pleaded with his master to get them to see her as he does.
Eventually his persistence payed off and he was granted an audience.
The two stood in front of the coucil and pleaded her case. Even with Master Kenobi on their side, it was no use. The Master Jedis in the room could feel the bond between the two padawaans standing before them.
The force flowing between the two, connecting them with invisible strings of fate.
The two of of them could become hazards to themselves and eachother. So they did the only logical thing and forced the two apart. Claiming that she was a danger to Cal and he should not be anywhere near her.
They screamed for eachother. Souls longing for the connection the two shared. A bond that couldn't be broken no matter how hard the coucil tried.
Neither of them understood at the time. Their Masters doing their best to comfort the young children. Both of them feeling a hint of resentment for the coucils decision.
Then she was alone again. Her Master and her best friend ripped away from her by war.
Confined to her room, nothing to do but listen to lectures about why her powers are a danger. How she needs to resist the dark side.
Everytime they felt her connecting to Cal through the force, they berated you. Words of hurt leaving their lips. Words claiming she would cause Cal to fall and having attachments is not the way of the Jedi. How she could never be a Jedi if she continues like this. It stung but she believed them.
She tried to break to bond between them. Spent hours meditating; researching a cure to the invisible line.
All she could find was how they would be better by eachothers side. The force wanted them together for a reason and regardless of what anyone said, she trusted the force to guide her back to him.
She knew they were trying to protect her and Cal. Their fear of the unknown hurting her more then helping.
She felt their uneasiness everytime they came close to her. Dread when she practiced her force abilities.
She knew when they were lying. She even perceived what Master Skywalker's intentions were. The look fear and anger radiating through the force around him made her want to vomit.
She tried to tell them. Tried to get then to run. But her pleas fell on deaf ears.
Irrational. Incompetent. Crazy. Falling for the seduction of the Darkside.
All things said to her that day.
And then it happened.
His rampage on the temple. The genocide of the Jedi.
She'd spoke to Cal earlier. Confessed her fears to him. The words he'd spoken the only comfort she had.
"I will always find you."
She hadn't had time to tell him what was happening. All thoughts now focused on the menacing figure in front of her.
She reached her had out to him. A feeble attempt to sooth his aching soul. It worked just enough to bye her some time to escape. Running to any available transport of the planet.
The encounter had left her exhausted. His strong emotions taking their toll on her mentality.
She felt terrible stealing from the dead, but a lightsaber would be helpful haven the circumstances. So she grabbed the blade off one of the fallen. Running away with the Saber clutched in her grip.
The grief hanging in the air overwhelming enough to make her stumble.
Soon she found transport off world. Stealing to get the credits she needed for the passage.
Cal reached out to her through their bond once more. Saying he was okay but his master has died. Updating her on where he was and what had happened with the clones.
They decided they needed to suppress their bond as much as possible. And force user, whether light or dark, would sense their connection within a ten foot radius. And right now they needed to stay hidden. Try to survive the nightmare.
Occasionally one would reach out to the other. Soothing eachothers aching souls. Reminding eachother they were still alive.
"I will always find you." The words echoed in her mind like a lullaby. Chasing her into restless sleep.
She had found a home on a the swampy planet of Bogano. The force led her here. The reason currently unknow to her but the force hadn't led her astray yet.
Though somtimes the venomous words of the Jedi coucil screamed at her.
"You will bring chaos."
Had this all been her fault? Had she unknowingly changed Master Skywalkers emotions that day? Played with things she could not understand fully?
Tears stream down her face as she recalls the horrible images of what transpired that night. The lifeless bodies littering the ground. The smell of death lingering in every corridor.
She did her best to conceal those feelings. Spending her days training with her new sword. Repeating the stances of those she'd seen others do while sparing.
And then one day five years later a ship arrived.
The invisible strings attaching her to Cal pulled her in the direction of the craft. His force signature growing nearer with each heavy step she took. Her breath faltering as she sprinted through the muddy terrain.
The force wavered and flowed and her emotions ran high. Raging like and untamed ocean. Powerful and overwhelming.
She slowed as she approached the craft. The door opening to reveal him.
He had grown taller. His hair an unruly red mop. But his green eyes and freckles are exactly the same as she remebered.
Tears sprang from her eyes. His relief flooding over her. Her joy spreading through him.
They ran to eachother. Letting the force pull them together until the were finally embracing each other. Cal's hands press against the back of he head and her lower back, pulling her closer to him.
They bask in the feeling of togetherness. The force flowing around them in a symphony of completion. They were once again joined as they should have been all along.
Cal leans back to look at her. Hands now cupping either side of her face. His eyes study her before leaning down to press her forehead against hers.
"I will always find you."

Tumblr media
You’d never more badly wanted to ask a question you knew you shouldn’t. You wouldn’t like the answer - there was no doubt in your mind. You didn’t want to admit that you were too prideful on what you thought you knew about people, about the galaxy. Even with your leg sat on another chair and your left shoulder steady on Prauf’s table in his kitchen, you held the side of your forehead while questions spilled out from the top like your head was overflowing.
What you nearly hated more than the question that was burning in your throbbing skull was how well Prauf seemed to understand you. Whenever he looked or talked to you, your brain felt like it was being intruded on. It was as if his eyes were two beady microscopes, peering deeply into your eyes, all the way down to your soul.
In Prauf’s mind, you were a person. A young girl alone, who most importantly, needed help. In yours, you had the experience of a person-lived-in twice and you more certainly did not need anyone’s help. You lived the last five years of your life alone. Well not completely, someone was always on your tail. Someone always wanted you, it wasn’t an unfamiliar circumstance or feeling, to be wanted. But to you, to be wanted was to be taken. To be captured, tortured, mamed, and beaten for - fun, information, or until your soul left your body and your pulse stopped beating.
Prauf was close to stepping out of his small home when he sighed. You were passed out on the table, head laying on the edge with a supporting arm, your other draped off the surface of the place he normally ate alone. Your injured leg still layed on the chair a foot or so away from you. Your other leg coiled into the chair with the rest of your body like it was the most comfortable place to rest in the galaxy. An empty glass once filled to the top with cool water sat near your head, and Prauf couldn't find the pain medicine he’d left you before he went off to bed. He’d seen you fall asleep last night, not wanting to wake or move you anywhere that could be more comfortable. You were finally at peace, the aura of nerves once seeping from your everything had disappeared.
The peaceful scene in front of Prauf was short-lived as a large ship flew above his home, shaking the house like it was a faulty vending machine. Your head shot up as the table shook and you began to stand, adrenaline pumping through your veins instantly. Prauf reached out a hand, not to touch you, but as if to say, “it's alright.” The plane passed as you stared up at the ceiling like you had x-ray vision.
“I was just about to wake you.”
“How stable is this place?”
“Stable enough.” Prauf moved to the small cupboard ahead of you.
“Why don’t you eat something then we can head out for today?”
Your stomach rumbled at his words. Maker, you were hungry. You nodded stiffly, causing him to toss a ration bar to you.
As it landed in your hand, the burning question you’d thought of since the minute Prauf reached an arm to you in your crashed ship rang in your head again. You ate cautiously, but eventually gave up as you scarfed it down. You were feeling a lot better from the night before, though your leg was aching a slight bit less now, your head was now searing in pain. You just then noticed the bacta patch and bandage that was set in front of you. Kriff, bacta was so rare these days. And expensive. That's it.
“Why are you helping me?” You stood this time, anyone who didn’t know of your injuries would think you had none the way your face stayed in one unmoving expression. Your question came off as harsh, but you weren’t giving in that easily to trust. You knew damn well there was no medic here; no doctors, no hospitals, no places of safety, of healing. This was quite literally the best thing anyone could do for you on Bracca. But why?
Prauf sighed, hands at his side as he moved them to his hips. He did the thing again, looking into your soul. You hated how he seemed to do it so easily. “You're a young woman, Y/N. You gotta move on from this place eventually and find your destiny.”
There was no way that was the end of it. He couldn’t…the last time anyone had shown you kindness was over five years ago. Kindness, friendship, and trust were no longer in your vocabulary. You tried not to be moved by his words, and you didn’t show it on the outside at least, though they did tug slightly at your heart.
“I will pay you back.” Your voice was firm, it was not a maybe. Prauf understood, nodding as he unlatched the door.
Stepping outside into a temperature nearly as cold and swamp-like as inside with a sky dim as the house’s walls made your heart jump. You suddenly fell into a memory of Coruscant, the first place you could remember living. The rooms you resided in were cool, but not too cold. It was a temperate that kept your senses keen. Stepping outside, your skin met the warm sun and you could feel the slight breeze, however artificial. It might've been static compared to other planets, but it was also diverse. Bracca was like one long, straight line of the same thing.
The air was cold, the only difference from inside was the light rain. You stiffened in an attempt to stop your shoulders from shaking. You trudged down uneven, cracked steps to where you were assuming Prauf worked. It wasn’t a long journey, but god was it a confusing path. You took it back - Bracca was not like a straight line. You moved over hunks of mamed metal scraps, jumped from mud to landstrip, and finally, you landed in front of a large, open structure. Lights hung and buzzed everywhere like alarms, the orange light already making your head hurt.
It was still raining, and it was picking up ever so slightly each minute, so you simply appreciated the roof over your head. As your feet followed Prauf’s to an official looking area in the Guild, you realized how appreciative you really were of what he’d done. He could have easily walked past you like you weren't even there. Worse, he could’ve taken your ship apart while you laid crumpled in it, your poor body giving up. You shook the thought from your head, grabbing at Prauf’s shoulder as the words escaped your lips before you could think.
“Thank you.” You attempted a meager smile, though it looked rather awkward. Prauf retired your expression and words with a kind smile, the sort you were trying to emulate.
He nodded, understanding how hard that must’ve been for you to say.
“I’m just glad you’re alright, Y/N. You gave me a scare when you were knocked out for so long.” You looked up at his face, quirking your head.
“What do you mean? I just slept like normal? Isn’t it early right now?”
His small eyes got slightly bigger as he realized he’d let information he’d wanted to keep to himself slip. A hand reached behind his neck, scratching it nervously.
“You uh…were out for two…nights, Y/N.”
“What?”
“You really think you healed that fast? You’re walking much better than you were two days ago. Good thing, too. You really needed it.”
You gaped at Prauf, shocked you were out for days. Though it made sense, you guessed - you could walk okay. You had learned to tune out light pain, so walking slowly after what had happened wasn’t the worst thing you’d felt.
Prauf turned from you and opened a small, steel door in front of him. It was rusty, and definitely not the cleanest, a squeaking sound ringing as his large hand twisted the loose knob. Though it was by no means clean, the booth, or office you guessed, was a hell of a lot cleaner than the other parts of the work area.
“Stay here.”
Prauf disappeared behind the door, and you took the opportunity to look around. The hum of small and large ships passing above, far and near, could be heard. The room was large, the ceiling stretching tall with wires all over the circular build. Sparks flew from a few holes in wires and the clankly walls all around, and your eyes spotted a few workers tinkering with them.
No more than a minute later, Prauf hunched under the door frame, behind him a teal colored droid that was as dirty as you probably were.
“This is her, chief.”
The foreman droid twisted its head to you, its body and arms following a moment later.
“She can start working with scrapper 478-G. Send her down.” The droid’s voice was gravely, like it was an old model, which matched perfectly with its physical condition.
“Wait,” It spoke again, returning to its room. You looked at Prauf, almost for guidance, asking subtlety what the droid was doing. Prauf raised his shoulders, shaking his head. The droid returned a moment later, a deep navy poncho in his hands. He held it out to you, your timid, cold hands thankful as you grabbed the piece of clothing. It was frayed, old, and definitely had been previously owned, but none of that mattered. It was a thick material, and was slick as well. It warmed you, and you were glad it would also keep some of the rain from the clothes on your body - the only ones you owned.
“You’re ready now.” You could feel the droid stare at you, though it didn’t have eyes. You nodded one, before it spoke again. “Wait.”
You rolled your eyes, turning again to face it.
“Scrapper 478-G is gone. You will be stationed here with Rigger 1004-B.”
“I don’t know if she can do rigging yet, boss.”
“She will learn.” The droid turned away, leaving you both as he went back into his cave.
“A rigger? I thought you guys were scrappers?”
“We are. They’re pretty similar. Riggers just uh…well it's a bit harder. Pays better, though. You gotta get stuff in the hard to reach places.”
You stiffened, hoping Prauf couldn't hear how loud your heart was beating. You’d done stuff much riskier and more dangerous than this job. It wasn’t even comparable. But you’d never been here. And you had a near broken leg. You hadn’t had to follow many rules for a while, and you hoped the pressure, and pain, wouldn’t crack you.
“Hey, you’ll be okay Y/N. I mean, I’m a rigger. And hell, I’m a lot less nimble than you are.” Nimble was not the word that came to mind to describe yourself since you arrived in Bracca. More like slow and in pain. But Prauf was right. Though your build was smaller compared to his, you were quite strong.
Prauf began climbing the ladder to your next destination. It hung from the entrance, and went up a long way. It made you dizzy to crane your neck up so high. You pulled yourself up, your arms doing most of the work. When you focused too much on climbing, you could feel the pain. Your leg still hurt like a bitch. The rest of you hurt as well too, but all you could focus on was your stupid, hurting leg. Yet it didn’t stop you from climbing like your life depended on it. Which in the long run - it did. You hoisted yourself up as you spotted Prauf walking to a crouched worker ahead of you. You came up beside him and watched the rigger turn around. He had fiery orange hair, matching the orange patches near the top of his poncho that was also on yours and Prauf’s. He took out his headphone and removed a gas mask covering his face with grimy hands.
“Cal, this is Y/N. She’s gonna be your problem until the boss decides where to put her.”
The boy smiled slightly at you, reaching his hand to yours. You were confused for a second or two, but finally raised your hand to shake his. You couldn’t recall the last time someone had shown you a nice gesture before Bracca. Maybe it wasn’t such a trash place afterall.
“We just had a Separatist ship land here before I found you,” Prauf spoke above you, “It’ll be good money.”
The rigger waved at Prauf as he left, the Abednedo giving you one last smile.
“Here, I’ll uh…” Cal looked around the cargo, the two of you alone in the open dome shaped room with sparks still coming from wires. “I’ll show you around. The job is kinda different everyday. Do you have any experience?”
“No.”
Cal’s eyebrows furrowed as he tongue darted to the corner of his lips. Your eyes spotted a scar that cut into his eyebrow, as your eyes trailed over his face to the next. One along his nose, and one from his jaw down his neck. He noticed your eyes, his hand reaching to his neck to cover one.
“So…how’d you end up here?” He asked, moving back to where he was working on the sparked wires.
“Ship crash.” Your voice was quiet. It was your turn to distract him with questions before he got too curious. “What do we do here, exactly?” You already knew the answer.
“We mainly break down starship wreckages and sell whatevers of value to the Empire.” His hands trailed along the drill, switching and flicking buttons before drilling into the piece he was working on.
He stopped suddenly, the drill falling from his hands with a thud on the metal floor that rang into your ears, drowning out any other sound. He huffed, and looked at you, his eyes wide in alarm. He quickly came down from his odd gesture with a sigh. He cleared his throat before asking, “Do I know you? Have we met before?”
“What? No, I've never met you.” This boy was starting to freak you out. What the hell was wrong with him? Suddenly you felt a strong ripple in the Force, something you hadn’t used or purposely dove into for a very long time. A blue lightsaber wielded by a figure with red hair flashed once, making you gasp.
“Are you okay?” Cal asked. What the fuck.
“Fine. Just my head. I…I hit it pretty bad when I crashed.”
His forehead wrinkled in sympathy as he spoke. “Well, in a couple days you’ll be able to buy some stuff to patch it u—”
“What the hell are you doing, rigger? You think we pay you to mess around? Who’s this?” A large, weird looking man had come from another entrance in the open structure.
Cal looked confused, but stood his ground, his shoulders set higher as his posture improved almost miraculously.
“This is Y/N. This is her first day on the job.” His voice was monotonous, much more notably so in comparison to how he was just talking to you.
The gruff man came up close to your face, making you scowl as your eyes squinted at his.
“Listen up. I don’t give a crap about how you got here or who you are. You're alone and you wanna live, right?
Oh you did not like this guy. But you weren’t dumb, this was the only way to make credits on Bracca since the purge. You nodded. Talking to this guy would waste what little energy and patience you had left.
“Good. Then get your ass up and work.”
He stormed off, disappearing down the later you’d come up on.
Cal sighed, apparently sharing your feelings for the man.
“What’s his deal?” you muttered to yourself.
Cal snorted, continuing with his work.
“He just got promoted a few days ago and is on a power kick, since he’s no longer one of the little guys. He doesn't really do much, though. Just walks around to check on us.”
“So what, all of us risking our necks for the bosses?” You were partially joking, though you knew it was true.
“The pay isn't as good as it was during the Republic. Or that’s what Prauf always says. Now, we get paid just enough to get by.”
“Are you and Prauf…”
“Yeah, we’re friends. He’s a pretty nice guy.”
You nodded lightly, “He is.”
That word was one you hadn’t heard in a while. The last friends you had turned their backs on you or were dead. It wasn’t something you were jumping to make after…
Cal tilted his head towards the deeper part of the hangar. “Follow me.”
