So, I have a request for angst, but with Young Reader, and they actually do call them an ask for help or a place to stay for a bit because of a nasty fight they got into with their parents and just need to leave the situation, perhaps they could have hid an injury(Welt, slap mark, bruising) from the boys only for boys to see it when they take off their coat/jacket. Its cool if you dont feel comfortable with this ask, you dont have to do it.

“Hey, John.” You started into the phone.

“You alright, Honey?” He questioned. You nearly rolled your eyes. The man had known you since you were as tall as his knee and could always tell when something was wrong.

“Not really.” You lied. You scrunched your face and took a deep breath. “Actually yeah- my mom came home in one of her moods again, but”-

“Where are you? I’ll come and get you.”

You could hear his car keys jingle on the other line and the familiar sound of his truck door slamming shut.

“I’m at the park down the street.”

“Hold tight, honey. I’ll be right there.”

It was about a fifteen minute wait. John lived all the way out in the country, another thing you loved about him. His truck pulled up and he quickly hopped out to open the door for you.

“Thanks John.” You sighed, giving him a quick hug.

“Course, honey. Now how about we go get some dinner, hmm?” He patted your back. It was gentle but enough to make you wince.

He took you to your favorite restaurant, the same one your father use to take you to. He sat across from you, not needing to look over the menu. His soft blue eyes trained on you.

“You ready to talk about it?” John asked. Your eyes peered up from behind the menu. You don’t know why you were even looking at it in the first place. You always ordered the same thing.

“Same old thing.” You responded, sifting in your seat.

“Don’t give me that, honey.” He pressed. “You’ve never called me before. I always hear about a fight after I’ve shaken you down.” He offered you a small smile. It’s wasn’t one of pity, but understanding. He’s always been there for you, so why won’t you just tell him the truth?

“Don’t get mad.” You whispered. John instantly faltered. It was a common cycle. When he was on leave he’d take you out at least two times a week. You’d tell him about some shitty thing your mom said to you and he’d race over to your house and threaten her to knock it off. She’d be on her best behavior for about a week, then the cycle would repeat itself. “Look you’re already upset.” You gave a fake chuckle.

“Honey.” He huffed. His eyes bore into yours with such intensity it made your tiny hairs stand up.

“It started off just like our fights always do. She started yelling and I just made my way to my room to bunker down for the night.” You stopped to take a small sip of your water.

“You locked the door?” John hummed. He had built you a special lock to go on your door.

“I didn’t make it that far.” You murmured, tears forming in your eyes. John’s hand reached across the table attaching to yours, giving you an encouraging squeeze. “She threw something at me.” You whispered.

“Threw something at you.” He repeated.

“I know it so stupid.” Your hands left his to paw at your eyes. You hated crying. His hands remained on the table giving you the option to return to him.

“She hurt you honey? That’s the furthest thing from stupid.”

“It was one of those ceramic cats she collects. It hit me in the back.” You gasped. You wouldn’t doubt if there was a large bruise forming as you spoke. “Do you mind if I stay with you for a little bit? Just till things cool down?”

“Honey, you could come live with me.” He assured. This wasn’t the first time he offered, but giving the increasing hostility your mother was showing this was the first time you really considered it.

“I don’t think I can just live with you, John. Isn’t that illegal- like kidnapping or something.” You sputtered.

“That’s not for you to worry about, honey. I’ll handle everything, just take some time and think about it.”

He woke up to the sound of glass shattering so loud it sounded like it was in his room. His body made quick work of throwing the covers off and heading towards his front door. He didn’t bother to shut his door behind him or throw on a pair of shoes. His body was already hot and shaking with anger. His fist pounded against your front door giving some warning of his presence before he used his shoulder to nearly split the door open.

He quickly found you on the floor your mother grabbing at your hair.

“Shit!” Your father yelled from the kitchen. Your father had been enjoying the whole spectacle of your mother tormenting you with a smile and a beer in his hand. Your mother look up at Simon, her own eyes growing wide with fear. He grabbed her by the arm throwing her backwards off of you.

“Who the fuck do you thi”- Your father started.

“Shut up and sit down.” Simon growled. Your father quickly obeyed siting down at the counter, your mother scurrying backwards to join him.

“Come on kid, on your feet.” He was soft with you, refusing to add anymore trauma to the situation. He wrapped an arm around your middle to steady you and you hid your face in shame.

“You can’t just take them. I’ll have the police dow”- Your father spoke up again.

“I told you to shut it. And what? You gonna call the police on me tough guy? Do it.” Simon spat. Your father piped down again the realization of his threat setting in. Simon led you out of your apartment and into his own. “Sit down, tell me where you’re hurt. Might need to take you to the hospital after that one, kid.”

The only way you could respond was through sobs. You practically threw yourself at him, wrapping your arms tightly around his middle. He sighed softly, not in contempt but in mercy. He wrapped a bulky arm around you, using your head as a chin rest. He related to you in all the worst ways.

“I don’t wanna go back.” You sobbed against him.

“I know you’re scared.” He said softly. “You’re gonna stay with me for a while, yeah? You have a key anyways might as well.”

He groaned as his phone went off from somewhere in his bed. He patted around, his eyes burning as the made contact with the blinding light.

Your face lighting up his phone ripped the drowsiness from his body.

“What’s wrong, kiddo?” His voice was gruff and he cleared his throat.

“Mac.” You cried from the other end.

“Fuckin hell.” He growled. “Where are you, sweetheart?”

“I’m sorry. They just started yelling at me and I got scared and now I don’t know what to do.” You sobbed.

“You did exactly what you were suppose to do. You called me. Now take a few breaths and tell me where you are. It’s late you shouldn’t be out by yourself.” He slipped his feet into his shoes and grabbed his keys from the entry table. He opened the door only to come face to face with you. His face scrunched as he took in your appearance. Your hair a mess, your face tear stained and you were shaking uncontrollably.

His heart dropped when he caught sight of a ruby colored mark on your cheek.

“That better not be what I think it is.” He gritted. You just cried harder. “Inside, now.” He snipped, making room for you brush past him.

“No, Mac please.” You sobbed. Your hands fled towards his arm and you leaned against him. You needed comfort. You needed assurance that everything was going to be okay.

“I’ll be back in twenty minutes. I can’t just let them get away with it Y/N.” He snarled. He gave you a kiss on the head. He began to pull his arm away but you just gripped him harder.

“Mac, please. I need you.” Your voice was soft. So weak and so vulnerable it made him stop dead in his tracks. “Please.” You whispered again. An apology flowed from his mouth and he quickly wrapped two strong arms around you, pulling you tight against him. You instantly relaxed.

“You’re right.” He murmured. “You’re safe now.”

“Ky, Can I stay with you please?”

You had asked him that a little over a week ago. He agreed immediately- perks of being one of his most favorite people on the planet. You didn’t really tell him why, just that you had gotten into a small ‘altercation’ with your parents.

That brings you to where you are today.

“If you don’t want me I can just leave Kyle.” You huffed, already collecting your things from the guest bedroom.

“Lovie, don’t do that!” He shouted after you. “My door is always open for you and you know that. I would just like to know exactly what happened. Considering you’re practically living with me now I think I have a right to know.” He explained. He grabbed the things out of your bag, hanging them up again.

“Kyle, stop! I’ve obviously overstayed my welcome. I’ll be out for your hair in no time.” You rubbed at your face harshly, trying to rid yourself of any tears.

“Y/N. Enough. Please stop.” His words were firm. It made you cry harder. “I didn’t mean to upset you so bad.” He assured. His hands came up and grabbed your wrists so he could get a better look at your face. He pulled you close to him. “I also need to know how upset I should be with your parents. If it’s really bad we need to get you out of there.” He explained. You sniffled, wiping at your face again.

It was then he saw it.

A deep purple bruise on your wrist. How didn’t you flinch when he grabbed it?

“That answers my question.” He sighed. You gasped and pulled your sleeves down. “Is that the only one?” He pressed. His fingers rested under your chin, tilting your head up to look at him. He repeated his question.

You softly shook your head.

“I have one on my side too.” You sniffed.

“Y/N look at me please.”

You did as he requested.

“I’m going to do everything I can to make sure you don’t have to go back, okay? But I need you to be completely honest about everything, yeah?”

A small sob left you and you quickly wrapped your arms around him.

“I love you, Ky.”

am I the asshole for not doing marching band when the show is counting on me?

this is really stupid high school drama, but I feel like a jerk about it so I'm seeing what the consensus is.

So basically, my school is pretty small, and our band is even smaller (about 20-30 people). Last year was my(16F) first year in band, and I only really did it because people pressured me into it. They wanted me to do it because I play accordion, and they thought that would add some wow factor to the show. I only had a couple accordion parts, and the rest of the time I was doing auxiliary percussion. Despite this though, it actually did work to add some interest. At competitions the judges always said that they really liked the accordion and wanted more of it in the show. That lead to that season being the first time in school history we had made it to finals.

During that time, I really only had one really good friend(16F). It was a pretty toxic friendship though. I was sort of codependent, and she was super selfish and manipulative. She would make up lies about my other friends and make me hate them, and then ditch me to hang out with them the next second. And she would just lie about super stupid stuff all the time, and when i brought it up to her she would just say "sorry you feel that way, i dont know what to do about it." And like she was very aware she was manipulative too. She straight up admitted to me multiple times that sometimes she lies to people just to see how they'll react or if they'll notice. This is all to say that we had a really nasty breakup. She ended up spreading a rumor to all of my friends that I told her to kill herself. And I just literally didn't. She completely made it up. So I spent like half the schoolyear thinking all of my friends hated me. Luckily, it turns out no one believed her anyways, since she kinda has a reputation as a liar, but the point still stands.

So obviously I absolutely despise her because of all of that. It's honestly probably an unhealthy feeling but I just hate her more than anything. Just thinking about her makes me want to explode. I stay up at night wishing she would just die sometimes.

And that makes me not want to do marching band this upcoming season. I just physically could not stand being around her that often (like 4 or 5 times a week for hours). Like I seriously think I would just spontaneously combust out of anger. And on top of that, she even got drum major, which means I'll have to stare at her during the whole show. So I decided that I'm just not going to do band.

This is where the me being an asshole part comes in. Since everyone loved the accordion last year, they actually wrote the whole show around it this year. I would be playing the whole time, and would be a prominent instrument. The show is also circus themed, so it makes a lot of sense to have an accordion there. And I have a lot of friends who want me to do it and who would miss me.

So basically, I just really feel bad that they went through the trouble of writing all this music for me just for me to back out last minute. but also, I just literally cannot physically handle being around that girl. I'm sure I'm atleast a little bit the asshole here, but I just wanna know if atleast some of my thought process was reasonable?

Characters with wasted potential: Bakugo Katsuki (rant)

Look as much as I don't and I mean DON'T like bakugo I have to admit that Horikoshi's favouritism has caused the own downfall of his own favourite character which is just sad.

There are many things I don't like with bakugo which are :

HIS ATTITUDE. I know hori was going for the moody deuteragonist trope but it fails horribly when it comes to bakugo because the guy has NOTHING AND I MEAN NOTHING to be angry about. This guy basically won the lifes lottery so by making him like this he literally just comes of as an aggressive, ungrateful child.

HIS REDEMPTION ARC. His redemption arc was utter and complete BS I mean he literally still does bulky izuku and others but it's just being treated as a gag instead of him learning not to and why it's bad. Also what makes it so bad is the lack of izukus pov and personal thoughts/emotions about it like izuku is the victim so we should see his negative and positive emotions towards bakugo and we should see bakugo take all of these emotions and try his best to make it up to izuku and change

HIS INTERACTION WITH OTHER CHARACTERS. I have no idea what those MHA stats were but they were horrible and why is it that every single time bakugo interacts with a character they will end up thinking he is cool and worthy of respect when he CLEARLY ISN'T.

LACK OF CHALLENGES. In my opinion, as a character bakugo doesn't go through enough obstacles or challenges and if he does he always has someone who goes through it with him like his whole I caused all mights downfall thing or the failed provisional license exam thing were so horrible in my opinion

A LACK OF CONSEQUENCES. Bakugo lacks consequences for a lot of his actions like the suicide incident and many other things. The problem is when he does finally receive the consequences it's always him and another character which doesn't make sense especially when izuku also got house arrest for what? Defending himself.?!?!

Bakugo could of clearly been a well written character that would be involved in the plot when necessary. Honestly, I hate bakugo and if it were to me I would have him erased as a character from the plot or bring in ORIGINAL BAKUGO!!! Who was soooo much better then the canon bakugo we have now!

But if we were to go with the 1st option of keeping bakugos character the same I would :

Change his attitude or actually give him something to have that type of attitude. Honestly, it's so infuriating that this guy only knows how to be an angry Pomeranian and it irritates me even more when he has nothing to be angry about. I know it's said in the manga that bakugo has a nasty attitude due to whatever mixture of superiority and inferiority complex he has and while you can do that and explore it a whole lot more like how did this happen? Where does it stem from? And stuff like that. It would be good to do something like that and Involve/show how society contributes to making these type of people which you can then use to expand on the world building that MHA lacks in. Or alternatively, you can give bakugo a reason to be angry all the time but in my opinion you already have so many of those characters so it would be better to stick with the first option.

Make him have obstacles and more realisations while gradually propping and hinting at a redemption arc. In my opinion it should of taken the entirety of the series for bakugo to have a redemption arc and when that arc is finished DONT GIVE HIM HIS OWN VILLAIN TO FIGHT. If you wanted him to fight someone make him fight himself and his own ideas. Also I think his development should start from the moment he gets saved by izuku and all might from the sludge villain where we can see him realise that maybe he has been lied to and that he isn't as great as he thought he was or everyone thought he was. He can also try and start focusing on what he has done or what he has been doing and at first you can have him ignore it, ignore it, ignore it and still not change until he reaches rock bottom in one of the earlier arcs preferably early season 3 when he fails the final exams BECAUSE HE SHOULD OF AND JUSTICE TO SERO!!!

Change the way characters interact with him. At first I loved how class 1A didn't like bakugo and viewed him as annoying and all of that and I think this should of continued until bakugo himself starts seeking for change during the training camp arc. Probably also have aizawa and other teacher reprimand him for his actions like the battle trials we don't see Katsuki receive any consequences just him on a verge of a mental break down and that's it. Also, we should definitely have more of Katsuki and best jeanist because let's be honest it was only best jeanist that tried to help bakugo and guide him in the right direction. You could also have him interact with all might but scrap the whole I got kidnapped and ruined all mights career I find it better if it were izuku to get kidnapped during the training camp arc.

Give him CONSEQUENCES. Iam all for Katsuki getting consequences for his own actions and faults and I feel like he should of got them during the battle trials, failing the provisional license exam alone, the final exams(he should of failed that fight with all might). Also I don't think he should be expelled from UA but I do think he should have more of a severe consequence that's NOT him getting anger management classes or therapy because that's not really a punishment. The idea might work if you also add him getting house arrest or losing a clean record and getting those types of classes but just that doesn't work for me

Lack of challenges. Katsukis character arc would work great if we focused more on his challenges and him ACTUALLY LOSING and not winning all the time. Realistically speaking there are many challenges bakugo can go through which are: having to realise he isn't the best and there are people better then him, he should treat people with respect, his behaviour towards izuku and other kids he bullied was bad, him trying to differentiate himself from endeavour and become a better hero and human being then endeavour by redeeming himself, his superiority and inferiority complexes.

Overall, Katsuki in this role should of been someone who is arrogant and has basically won lifes lottery but then he gets into UA and realises "oh Iam not as special or stronger then everyone else" which could then cause him to become insecure aka que the superiority and inferiority complexes which he develops out of and slowly redeems himself and becomes a symbol of how society can create bad people by too much praise or just thinking they are superior and how these people can go on to them become heros or people that society is supposed to trust and praise when they don't deserve it. Something that bugs me is how katsukis character mainly focuses on just izuku and whenever izuku is mentioned Katsuki has to be mentioned or vice versa.

Also it would if been better if you emphasised on the Katsuki and endeavour Parallels and don't redeem endeavour but redeemed Katsuki. Also, have Katsuki and todoroki have a difficult relationship it's out of character for todoroki to get along with someone like Katsuki. You can then explore the relationship and have Katsuki change and todoroki interact a bit more with him or something of the sort.

ALSO WHEN WE GET AN APOLOGY LET IT NOT BE WHEN IZUKU IS ON THE VERGE OF DEATH AT HIS MOST VULNERABLE AND LET HIM HAVE SOME THOUGHTS ABOUT IT

Ps: this is my opinion!! And I think I could of done more justice for bakugo but Iam not his biggest fan so ... Yeah. If I missed something definitely add it !

there is evidence, proof, so so much of it. and even then, just her behavior alone, without the really bad stuff, is questionable to say the least. i dont know how to put it, but she and her fans act like 12 year olds on wattpad (i used to be one of those kids to some extent ik what im talking about here lmfao). it is a FACT she's horrible and disgusting (i could list a thousand other things here but the critical community already knows all this) and still people defend and dickride her. it is no lie that her fanbase is like a cult. i wonder if these people are actually completely oblivious or are just as horrid because the fact she's a horrible person is as clear as day. the fetish shit, her weird ass transphobia, her blatant disgregard to actual victims that aren't her fans, her drawing... that , her racism, her- should i go on? and i fear there is no consequences for BOTH these people- they will go on until they die without ever facing their actions and stuff. its disturbing.

its like j*k*r all over again. i sense a pattern here. not sure what kind, but its so fucking baffling how both are horrid and insufferable AS CLEAR AS DAY as people and HARM OTHERS and still get so much support. both need to be studied because what the fuck have they going on that protects them meanwhile some people on social media get cancelled for one sentence they said 17 years ago (not that that's not "valid" it's just baffling how some people get cancelled over the smallest shit meanwhile....) and these people get to enjoy their life without consequences while there's MOUNTAINS of proven evidence.

i feel like i discovered a goddamn alien baby the way im so fucking flabbergasted at all this.

Hey, no worries! Rant away! It's a very strange enigma for sure, and the fandon does indeed act like a cult! My guess for how Viv keeps getting away with all this stuff is that she has a parasocial relationship with her fanbase. The idea of landing a job or getting close with a creator with such a large following overrides any sense of reason or care for her actions, so people keep gassing her up because it could likely lead her to like or comment on their stuff. There's also the pseudo kind act she puts on, so people think she's the sweetest person ever when she has showcased the opposite. There's also a loooot of fandom bullying. Lots of the big dogs in the fandom bully people into silence or make em think they're in the wrong.

There's a WHOLE lot of control going on here, and thanks to her ass kissers logic is thrown out the window. Finally, there were the overblown posts highlighting things that, while weird or gross, aren't "cancelable" enough or downright exaggerations of the truth or lies. These threads on Twitter, especially back in 2019, did more harm than good and led many into believing there was a mob that simply wanted to cancel her for being popular. The threads consisted of her old cringe art (some are very questionable don't get me wrong) rather than the ones where she encouraged fandom bullying and made fun of a 15 year old fan for simply being critical of her work and called them nasty for it. No one did any research on her behavior or how she was an absolute bully to people like Starvader. Callouts need to consist of hard evidence so stuff like this doesn't happen, where your callout does more harm than good.

These factors led to many straight up turning off their brains and blatantly ignoring hard evidence. It's very, very stupid.

Also, who is the other person you mentioned? The only one that comes to mind is the guy who plays League of Legends and is famous for winning many championships.

mike's media medley--March 2024

yo whats up. so at the end of the year i do a top 7 ranking of my fave movies released that year and a top 7 ranking of video games i played that year (regardless of release date) which is VERY fun and im still gonna do it but!

there are a lot of things that i like that don't make the cut that i would like to talk about...and things that i did not like that i would also like to talk about. so i will be doing a post every month about *all* the movies i watched for the first time, including older movies and new releases, same for games i played for the first time. and occasionally a book if i can manage it. it is taking me one billion years to read The Plague

here are some things i watched and played for the very first time this march:

starting off in alphabetical order with:

Good Time (2017)

i watched Uncut Gems a couple of years ago and I actually didn't remember the directors' name(s) for that movie, so when I watched Good Time i was like damn that made me feel like Uncut Gems. im gonna check out more of these guys' movies. lo and behold

i think overall Uncut Gems made me feel more stressed, but Good Time made me feel more bad for basically everyone involved but Robert Pattinson's character and watching this dude just make awful decisions and treat other people like shit was like. so nasty feeling. i would like to watch more.

i liked the directing of this movie but i liked Uncut Gems's better. not to keep comparing the two but theyre made by the same people with the same like. goals of being a fucking Stress Simulator. i did love robert pattinson's performance which i won't compare to adam sandler's in Uncut Gems because even though they're both the driving forces of their movies they're both pretty different characters and even if i thought pattinson's character was slimy and just like a shite fucking person i think he did a good enough job expressing the desperation of getting the hell outta there with his brother. the emotional hook was There but i wish it was explored slightly more so i could be a bit more invested in seeing how he makes everything worse.

overall decent. i did like it. would maaaaaybe watch again but not like regularly. 70/100. also if you think 70 is a low score it is Not. it is a good score. just putting that out there before someone takes 70/100 to mean i think something is bad (<- damage control for a later score)

Late Night with the Devil (2024)

this movie has like 10 FUCKING COMPANIES CREDITED AT THE BEGINNING when i saw it in theaters by the time it got to like the 7th one everyone in my theater was exasperatedly saying 'oh my god'

but once the movie gets started. oh hell fucking yeah

i didn't watch any trailers for this or love lies bleeding (i dont rly watch trailers in gen tbh) so idk if the trailer conveyed that this would be set up as like...a lost TV episode, complete with bumpers and brief sponsor mentions, 'behind the scenes footage' etc, but regardless i did not know that going in and you can imagine my utter fucking delight when the movie started playing and after a minute or two i realized the gimmick

i REALLY liked this movie. i thought it was appropriately cheesy for a talkshow hosted in the 70s and i liked some of the subtle moments you really only catch on rewatch (which i did rewatch it w/ my mom), like how the doctor says abraxas thrives on the attention of an audience and the whole time lily is trying to stare directly into the cameras smiling.

the ending is really fucking cool and the mystery unraveling through the supernatural occurrences was compelling. i thought most of the actors did a pretty good job. im not really a fan of demon possession stuff for very personal reasons but i stuck it out for the concept which i really did enjoy.

that being said i found out shortly after i watched this movie that they used AI art for some of the bumpers and i was legitimately so disappointed. there was clearly a talented production team working on this thing to ensure the 70s night talkshow vibe was maintained and they couldn't get one of them to do bumpers, or hire an artist?

it really sucks. i dont want to rag too harshly on smaller indie filmmakers for doing this when big players in every industry are forcibly trying to incorporate AI into their stuff so i won't be review bombing the movie like ive seen some do in response--which i *get*, and i hope the team takes that as a sign to just hire a fucking artist next time--but it did kind of sour the movie for me despite how much i enjoyed it.

so im docking 5 points for the AI art and im also docking 5 points for the 10 companies credited in the beginning because that just makes the AI art feel more egregious to me.

75/100. maybe if they release the movie on shudder with the AI art removed they'll get their 5 points back

Love Lies Bleeding (2024)

everybody in this movie is so fucking sweaty and grimy and everything looks kind of dirty and like it smells like sweat and deodorant and tbh i kind of dig it. especially when next to the cleaner 'aesthetic' version of the 70s presented in Late Night with the Devil

but man this movie was really good. i dont want to spoil it too much but PLEASE go watch it. its decently horny so if you dont like that sort of thing Sawi but if you can look past that its so fucking weird and like strangely funny when it shouldnt be (but is definitely trying to be, so its not like unintentional humor, maybe more like morbid humor?) and theres horror and fantastical elements that you simply arent expecting and my theater screamed at the ending. please go watch it. truly the epitome of i support womens rights AND womens wrongs. honestly i could go on about this movie but i will not right now because you WILL go watch it in theaters NEOW

Spirited Away (2001)

okay im gonna be really blunt and rip the bandaid off with this one. i just thought it was Fine

like obviously the animation is stellar but that was about it for me. maybe i listened to this movie get hyped as one of the best animated films ever and set my expectations absurdly high but i watched it and i enjoyed it but i wasn't like...blown away or struck with Whimsy And Wonder or overcome with emotion.

i do think some of the characters were charming and it was entertaining and i dont want it to sound like i didnt like the movie but i guess i just felt underwhelmed? i might rewatch it another time with my expectations readjusted and see if i enjoy it more but when i watched it and the credits rolled i just went 'oh okay. was that it?'

anyways 70/100

funny clicky idle game . it is NOT an idle game where you can just buy all the upgrades and 'win', theres some strategy involved, but its honestly a really funny game. theres breaking bad references in there. in fact there are all kinds of references in there. you should go play it for the low low price of just over 5 dollars

minami lane--

so i will say first i am not like an avid player of 'cozy' games and find a lot of them pretty boring but i did really enjoy this one. it's a short city builder game with a really cute art-style. it has a sandbox mode (which i havent played) but it also has about five challenges to complete with multiple objectives and i had a good time trying to 100% them all. i would love if they added more challenges but tbh! it's not a bad way to spend about 3-4 hours of your time. im sure if you play sandbox mode you'd get even more but honestly i was satisfied with doing the challenges. it's just under 5 bucks there are definitely worse ways to spend your money.

kanbaru's not a snob she's a slob teehee there's no way karen could be a snob. just no i dont think hanekawa would be either she's too reasonable meme and kaiki are too detached to be snobs, and tooe understands things too much to be one i think nadeko is not a snob. she is a loner like araragi so it might seem like it but despite hating her classmates for the fiasco with the kaiki charms, she still feels an obligation towards them as classmates, so she seems to see them as equals more or less.

mei is someone who doesn’t seek validation from others. it’s a surprising thing considering her occupation–an idol. she is sure of who she is as a person, and truly believes she can do no wrong. admitting to her wrongs isn’t something she’s used to, and apologizing is foreign to her. that’s not to say that she won’t do it, she will, only after being scolded by her older brother for an hour straight.

she speaks her mind and tries to be as honest about her feelings, even if they hurt someone’s in return. when you’re surrounded by lies and deceptions from a young age you kind of want to just be upfront about everything. mei has no tact and has no filter. but she knows to keep her mouth shut when it’s time to work. she’ll speak her mind no problem in front of friends but the second the cameras start rolling she becomes the definition of “once in a lifetime idol”

if she likes you it will be obvious. she’s the type of person to show her clear bias, to take the side of someone even if they’re clearly in the wrong. there’s loyalty there and it’s not the easiest to earn with mei. there’s no “i dont trust anyone” spiel from her, she’s just the type of person to only stay loyal to those she likes. and depending on her mood she can like a variety of personalities. and hate them.

as nasty as her personality may be, mei does have kindness in her heart. she’s someone who will go out of her way to help those in need without asking for a reward. i wouldn’t call her a tsundere exactly, if she likes you she will be very obvious about it… but it’s more like she doesn’t care to put up a front. she’ll badmouth someone while handing another person cash for groceries. to her, kindness is expected of people and she doesn’t understand why some people don’t have an ounce of empathy for others. you can be annoyed by someone, you can dislike them but that doesn’t mean you have to be like that to strangers. that’s how mei views her attitude.

her arrogance. she’s an 18 year old girl who's always been spoiled by her older brother and suddenly rose to fame. she’s truly thinks she’s better than everyone.

setting her expectations on others too high. mei is easy to disappoint. she’s met terrible people and she knows how others can be yet mei is someone who is still so young and naive. she believes people can’t be all that bad.

impulsiveness. mei doesn’t think twice before making decisions, even extreme life changing ones.

your muse’s greatest strength:

loyalty. once mei likes you, she’s never gonna stop being loyal. only time she will ever stop is if you personally betray her.

taking charge. yes she’s 18, yes she’s still young buuut mei will try her hardest to take control in any situation.

never backing down. could be a fault too because it is a stubbornness, but mei views it as a charm point of hers. she will never backdown without a fight, and it’s why she’s a pretty assertive person.

history / background:

for as long as mei remembers, her only family were herself and her older brother (and cousin…). that’s all she will share and that’s all she will say. the place they lived in wasn’t of much importance, a church which worshiped humans and the ‘drop of eden’. it wasn’t a home for children to be raised in, but it was the only place that would shelter them and feed them. the days there were long but with her brother around it wasn’t all that bad. (what she will never understand is why they, aliens from another planet, worshiped some mere humans.)

mei didn’t have much care for it, but she was too young to leave so it was her only choice. it wasn’t until her older brother, yu, turned 18 that mei finally left the church (could she even call it that?) and finally lived with only her family. he did everything in his power to give her a ‘normal’ upbringing and it ended up with her being a bit spoiled. it was all fine and dandy…

let’s discuss ephira, their planet. a planet with a surface that can be called a ‘wasteland’ and several underground cave systems where the people live. their whole lives are spent underground, living in cities known for their never-ending nightlife. the muvu, animal-based aliens live there and thrive… hm, what else about ephira? oh yeah:

a society that focuses heavily on talent. apprenticeships are normalized and anyone who didn’t have a specific talent was seen as odd. because ephira is known for celebrities and entertainment the talents usually focus on that… and mei? didn’t really have one. she liked playing video games but she was far too trigger-happy to make it a career, and she wasn’t interested in hair to follow her older brother’s hairstyling footsteps.

mei just didn’t have much passion for anything. it wasn’t until one day a recruiter noticed her (finding eden equivalent of instagram) and asked her to audition. her older brother tried years ago to audition to one of those entertainment agencies, yet it never worked out in the end. mei? well it’s not like her life will be over if she was rejected. with that mindset she decided to try it out, for fun, to stave off boredom.

and then it all becomes a blur: she’s accepted, becomes a trainee, suddenly debuts with a bunny girl named pomf, starts rooming with pomf, starts flopping in sales and views and…

mei finds a human with red eyes outside her agency. they look scared and lost.. they clearly don’t belong here. she makes an impulse decision, she offers the human a place to stay. not her own, she can’t have someone living in a dorm with her, but her brother… he lives alone now, he needs a roommate.

maybe that human was goodluck. months after housing them with her older brother, mei and pomf found success with p.m. like crazy success, imagine being on the brink of disbandment and then suddenly your song is charting number one on all music charts around the universe.

powers / abilities:

to talk about mei’s powers we need to discuss what the muvu can do! all muvu, and any animal based alien in the finding eden world can have talent power. what is talent power? users have some specialization which they have become so skilled at that they are able to utilize the latent magical energy in the universe to super power their skill, and use it offensively (or to just do the thing they do, very well). usually takes the form of “upgrading” their “weapon” for the period of time that they can focus their energy.

because mei is an idol her talent is singing which means:

sonic scream: when mei focuses hard on her energy, she is able to let out an ear piercing scream. the more energy she consumes around the world (or in this case… from her necklace) the stronger her scream becomes and the more damage it can cause. like physical damage.

charm singing: it’s a rare sight to see muvu’s enhance their skill in multiple ways so this ability is still.. a bit of a work in progress for mei. while this isn’t an ability she uses at all, mei can hypnotize someone with her singing. currently she’s only able to hypnotize one person and it has to be uninterrupted, her singing cannot be disturbed the entire time.

how it works is that she has to be singing the commands out and the second she stops the charm also stops.

inherent abilities:

heightened senses: she’s a cat! really good hearing, sense of smell and sight! of course since she’s a cat she can also see in the dark.

items / weapons:

a friendship necklace: she matches with her human roommate and her brother! it’s just a normal necklace…. with a weird magical energy emanating from it. almost as if someone casted a spell on it…?

I find it hilarious how all the adults used to tell me "just wait til you have a job and work full time you'll WISH you were in school"

I don't mind working, I can wake up tomorrow and go to work and all is fine and I'm happy....if you told me I had to go back to high school for even a day I'd kill myself without hesitation. Here's why:

As an adult with a job out here in the real world, I actually have options if I'm being bullied or harassed. I can make an issue to a boss or a police officer about it, and it will be taken seriously. At minimum, the person causing the problem will actually be talked to. In school, that wasn't always the case. In fact, they barely did anything until a situation had gone to what us grown ups would call ASSAULT. Why was it always only a slap on the wrist when people were outright trying to hurt or even KILL me or get me to kill myself because i was weird? In a place I was REQUIRED to be. It's easy to leave a bad job, but anyone who's had to transfer schools or go into programs because of bullying knows what BULLSHIT it is to even TRY to secure your own safety.

As an adult with a job I'm expected to know and keep track of ONE set list of tasks, not FOUR different groups of things with topic changes in those groups every month that i have to learn really fast and repeat perfectly when questioned or else I fail and have to do it all over again.

As an adult with a job I am barely expected to get along with a reasonably sized and fairly consistent group of people, not like 30 a class (remember, 4 classes, that's 120 people) and that's just the ones you're stuck in a room with during classes. Not even counting the other classes you go to lunch or field trips with, which just leaves more room for clashing personalities to be stuck next to eachother.

AND DONT EVEN GET ME *STARTED* ON BEING USED AS A BEHAVIOUR BUFFER. IMAGINE SOMEONE WHO IS INCREDIBLY HOSTILE TORWARDS YOU ALREADY BEING SAT NEXT TO YOU AT WORK?? YOU WOULDN'T LET THAT FLY! SOMEONE WHOS FOUGHT YOU, PULLED YOUR HAIR, TOLD PEOPLE NASTY LIES ABOUT YOU, AND NOW YOURE SUDDENLY RESPONSIBLE FOR KEEPING THEM IN LINE OR YOU BOTH GET IN TROUBLE. THAT SHIT DOESN'T FLY NEAR AS FAR IN THE REAL WORLD.

Not ONCE as an adult have I been punished for reporting the abusive behaviors of my coworkers either. Why does the school system PUNISH VICTIMS FURTHER? if I defend myself in a fight on the street, I'm asked if I want to press charges or get a peace bond. If I defended myself in a fight I DID NOT WANT PART OF in school, I was SUSPENDED and given detentions. For defending myself.

As an adult in the real world, I get at least some say in what I'm doing all day. If I hate one shitty minimum wage job, I can go find another that isn't as bad. As a student I was expected to deal with it, never question why they were allowed to make me so miserable, and was punished for not being able to force myself to sit up straight and listen to some mid 40s divorcee rant about his ex wife in the middle of a math lesson "bEcAuSe hEs ThE tEaChEr".. at least if I have to listen to someone rant about stupid stuff on the job I'm getting paid for it. I have incentive to pretend I care.

AS AN ADULT IN THE REAL WORLD, MY JOB HAS NOT EVER BEEN ENTITLED TO A SECOND OF MY TIME OUTSIDE OF WORK HOURS. AS A STUDENT, I WAS EXPECTED TO SPEND MOST OF MY DAY AT SCHOOL, THEN GO HOME AND DO MORE SCHOOLWORK. IF YOUR BOSS TOLD YOU TO CLOCK OUT AND KEEP WORKING YOUD LAUGH IN THEIR FACE. YOU HAVE A LIFE, YOU HAVE THINGS TO DO, YOU WANT TIME TO SEE FRIENDS AND FAMILY AND UNWIND. SO DOES EVERY FUCKING STUDENT THAT WAS HANDED HOURS OF HOMEWORK TO DO ON THEIR WEEKEND. ON THEIR DAYS OFF.

Now take all of the things I just listed, all things highschoolers experience regularly, and imagine this:

You get home from your full time job (school), and have to go to a part time job that takes up your nights and weekends. And you have to do your extra school work that's for outside of school because it's homework, you have to. And you have to study for that test coming up. You also have a list of household to do.

So already, that's.. work, work, work, and work. You're also expected to do extracurricular activities or hobbies like sports, clubs or volunteering (work number 5) because "they'll help you (stay healthy/with your college applications/look good on your resume)"

Wow! That's work 5 times. And it's like.. the minimum people expect from their kid or else that kid is lazy/stupid/not going anywhere in life.

That's a lot of pressure, and that's usually the bare minimum. Some people also have to babysit their younger siblings (for free because fAmiLy). That's work number 6. This looks insane to you when it's all laid out like this.

This doesn't even brush on how it looks to people with "minor" disabilities like adhd or anxiety

Lay off your teenager, they're working their ass off, and being harassed, insulted, ignored, and having their free time, personal space, boundaries, and interests disregarded constantly.

Being an adult is stressful, but so is being a kid. Don't invalidate their struggles because you no longer relate to them.

If your life was constantly micromanaged by people expecting you to do hours of unpaid labour "because you have to" and "I said so" You'd be pissed too.

If I woke up tomorrow, and I was expected to go to work, and then do housework as needed, I'd be fine.

If I woke up tomorrow with very little control of my life and free time while also expected to work 3-6 jobs for basically nothing in return, I would literally kill myself.

I had OVER 20 SUICIDE ATTEMPTS in high school

I have had ONE since graduating.

I hope people gain some perspective from this.
