Skizzekai- First Few Days Summary
Now that the asks have calmed down a bit, and hermits have been established, here's a summary post to get a general idea of where we're working from. I've also cleaned up any plotholes best I can.
Skizz, a human from Earth, was summoned to this fantasy world by god-king Joel. A prophecy stated he would defeat a great evil. It did not explain how. He keeps a journal to help him figure things out and keep track of everything.
Over his adventures so far, Skizz has made both allies and enemies, and picked up a magical necklace from travelling merchants. His suit also picked up durability enchantments somewhere, but only after the sleeves came off. The necklace was made for mages, gathering and focusing ambient magic for their use. It was not designed for a creature with no magic of their own.
He probably wouldn't have stayed human either way, but the necklace certainly sped it up. He's adapted to the world, become able to use it's magic, and dragonfly wings have begun to sprout from his back.
This could be concerning. But Skizz finds he loves his wings, his adaptation to the world that is gradually becoming his home. He embraces it. Maybe he really does belong here. Maybe soon he'll even be able to fly.
Joel, the ruler of the lore kingdom and recently ascended god, was originally an ogre- but after the belief of his people sent him through a few transformations, he's settled into his divine status. He can look however he wants now! But an ogre form is still most natural to him. Just a really tall and handsome ogre.
Skizz finds quick allies in Tango, Impulse, and Zed. Tango is a being of fire, with strong flame magic connected to his emotions. He is also in possession of a magical deck of cards. Zedaph, apprentice of Death Himself, joined their group after bringing Skizz back from the dead. He insisted on the completion of some difficult tasks first, but now they're buddies! He's also capable of reality distortion magic, knows alchemy, and has a card of luck magic Tango gave him. Everyone is terrified of Zedaph. Probably for good reason.
Impulse.... may not have intended to become an ally. The demonic man used to work for the forces of evil- before Skizz showed up, and his doubts became a true betrayal to join the side of good. They became fast friends. He doesn't want Skizz to become lost like the last hero was.
That last hero is one Gemini Tay, human-turned-Drowned, who was summoned a few years back, and is not happy about Skizz. It's like she's not even needed anymore. She puts a bounty on Skizz's head. She cannot accept her failure.
Chasing that bounty is False, harpy and former pirate queen. She may have had to leave her crew after that deal lead to a mild case of possession, but she still appreciates some good treasure. That's why she's been working as a travelling merchant.
Her fellow merchants, Cub and Scar, are equally possessed but not quite as motivated. They mostly just like messing with people. Including Skizz. Maybe especially Skizz. They are fae, after all.
Skizz did have one unfortunate interaction with them- he got his name taken for a bit. Fortunately, after returning Scar's cat familiar to him, the name was given back.
Gem isn't the only former human in this world. Joe Hills, a half-ghost living in the republic of the undead, was summoned from Nashville a while back, and befriended Prime Minister Cleo along the way.
Cleo's republic was once a kingdom, run by Ren, but as soon as she got the throne she declared the monarchy over. She got voted in, and Ren is her second in command. Together they run the place, maintaining the army of constructs and fighting back against the sculk creeping into the tunnels.
Most humans that end up in this world don't tend to stay human long. The ambient magic eventually soaks in and alters them, and most embrace it. The changes are a new beginning, or a sign of belonging in this strange world. But Hypno did not embrace it.
No, Hypno was the human half of a changeling deal, and has been clinging to his humanity for quite a while. He's even gotten hold of an artifact, somehow, that pushes the ambient magic out of his body, keeping him human. His friend, Jevin, is a slime guy who enjoys being a slime guy, and doesn't understand this drive to stay human one bit. Magic is cool.
Other hermits that I couldn't neatly tie into the one ramble:
Wels is a selkie proficient in bard magic, and a former member of False's crew.
Stress is a fae queen who rules a kingdom specializing in ice magic, with Iskall as her loyal bodyguard.
TFC is a miner of unknown species who helped Skizz out during a quest
Mumbo is not a vampire, thank you very much. He's actually the former god of the night who lost half his power. Vampires were made from that stolen half.
Pearl is a moth fae who used to rule a prosperous kingdom... until a talking dog came to advise her, corrupting her into a cruel and evil queen. She has since slain the beast, fled into exile, and changed her ways. She now works delivering mail.
Etho and Bdubs are plant constructs, guarding a deep and dangerous jungle. Etho may have a metallic shell, but he's all plant inside. Doc and Beef guard the jungle as well, the four of them ensuring safe passage for travellers. Doc in particular has the ability to become absolutely gigantic.
Xisuma was a bubbling puddle of nothing that became a person and sustains itself on bones. Far too many bones. Bones in places they really should not be, such as outside the skin.
Keralis is a unicorn! He is also a menace who is very protective of his magic, refusing to use it unless he feels like it. Claims to be able to read the value of souls. Bothers xB by calling him the princess of the lake. xB is not a princess.
Grian is... something. He's strange, is what he is. He's a nice guy, and helpful to Skizz, but has these weird mutterings about "watchers", and what was that about accidentally stealing Mumbo's power?
And that's the AU so far! It's still going, so send in more ideas when you have them. Happy headcanoning!

About You Pt1
Pairing: Sebastian Vettel x Webber!Reader
Summary: Everyone knows about the history of Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber. But there's a well kept story within the paddock about Sebastian Vettel and another Webber. This is that story.
A/N: I know I said that its a whole one shot only but I don't think that I can do it. I have to cut it because there is a lot of history. I hope you all enjoy.
About You Series: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

2005, Circuito de Jerez
The earliest memory that Y/N has of Sebastian Vettel was watching him test the Williams-BMW car.
It was her first time accompanying Mark and she was still grasping some of the key concepts of Formula 1 when Sebastian headed to the car. She watched how he drives and how the team were discussing about how he is a potential driver for the seasons to come.
"You know Seb is just a year older than you" Nico Rosberg, who has been keeping you company for the testing that afternoon, stated.
"Then that will make him the youngest driver if he enters Formula 1"Y/N mused.
Y/N didn't know but she was pretty excited to see him on track. She knew that this Sebastian will change a lot of things in F1 and will probably make history. At the same time, she can't help but be a bit worried since its a dangerous sports. One second you can be living the dream and then the next you find yourself recovering in a hospital room.
Sebastian Vettel gets out of the car and lifts his visor. There was a certain spark in his eyes that Y/N didn't miss out. Its the spark that showcase how much he loved to race.
Y/N didn't miss how her heart skipped a beat.
2006, Istanbul Park
The next time that Y/N sees Sebastian Vettel was during the free practice. He was a Friday driver for BMW-Sauber and he is as impressive as the day she first saw him in Spain.
"That kid just set out the fastest lap" her brother, Mark was shocked by the time set by Sebastian.
"That kid has a name" Y/N stated "and its Sebastian"
"Oh how come you are so informed about this missy?" he wondered
"He drove with you in testing season last year remember" Y/N replied.
The replay on the screen showcases the bold moves that were made by Sebastian. It was like he was driving like he is a man on a mission. If Y/N will bet, there is a lot of teams that will be shortlisting his name to their team.
"What do you think about him?"
"A little bit of reckless, I mean 6 seconds in your formula 1 career and you already have a penalty. There must be some kind of record for that" Mark was referring to the speeding penalty that Sebastian received as soon as he left the garage.
Y/N mumbles a small hmm as she continues to watch how Sebastian moves around the track. She was sure that sooner or later, she might see Sebastian more often.
2007, Albert Park
Fridays aren't too crowded as the Sunday races but still there was a bit of pressure in Sebastian Vettel's shoulder as he entered Albert Park.
He walked the paddocks and tried to visualize himself not just a Friday driver but an actual driver for the Sunday races. He pictures the screaming crowd chanting his name, the smell of burning rubber, radio messages from the team, and even being at the podium with the champagne.
In his daydreaming, he didn't realize that he bumped into someone. All he saw was that a girl was down on the ground with papers all over.
"I'm terribly sorry. I was not looking where I was going" he apologized.
"I'm equally at fault too"The woman assured "It was not wise to type and walk especially since this whole place is swarming with people"
Sebastian helped the girl compiling the papers and he noticed how the papers seem to be like contract for sponsorship. He looked at her and tried to identify which team did she belong to but her lack of team merchandise makes it difficult.
"You're new here?"he tries to decode.
"No, I'm not. I've been coming here since 5 years ago" there was an accent in her voice. Australian, if Sebastian was right.
"Huh, you must know your way around this whole place"
She takes a closer look at him, "You're that rookie Sebastian Vettel"
Now Sebastian doesn't have a huge following that he knows of and this is probably the first time that someone outside the family knew about him. Now, he felt even more curious about the girl.
"How did you know my name"
"Hard not to especially when you set a record to having the fastest penalty in their f1 career" she joked.
Normally Sebastian will be annoyed by the reminder of his mistake last year. He choose to forget that small mishap and avoid talking about it. But this time, he felt like the giggling is contagious that he can't help but smile when talking about his mistake.
"I assure you that I'm a much more better driver now" he states, holding up his hand as if saying that he swears he is a better a driver now.
"Hoping to see you deliver Vettel" she grins.
The girl started walking away from Sebastian when it occured to him that he didn't even know her name. He rushed to catch up with her.
"Wait, I didn't get your name"
She looked at him and there seems to be a slight hesitation
"If we meet again in a formula 1 race then I'll tell you my name" then the girl walked out of his sight.
2007, Indianopolis track.
It seems that luck has been on Y/N's side because she managed to avoid Sebastian during the past races. But it seems as if this luck is running out slowly since they are bound to meet up this weekend as Sebastian was bumped from reserve driver to formula 1 driver due to the injury that Kubica sustained in Canada.
She was hanging out at one of the coffee machines when she felt somebody tap her shoulder. She gave him a smile upon recognizing him.
"Sebastian Vettel, shouldn't you be preparing in your f1 car now?"
There was a loopy grin on his face, "Mystery woman, I was beginning to think if you are just a figment of my imagination.
Y/N pressed the hot cup to his hands, "I'm very much real and not just a figment of your mind"
"So will you tell me now your name?" Sebastian wondered. He has to admit that it has been bugging him for weeks on end about who this mystery woman is. He even went to ask around the paddock but his description was very vague and no one could help him.
"Its Y/N, nice to meet you" Purposely leaving out the last name.
In Y/N's mind it was just a safety pre-caution to leave out her last name. It was for her own good as well because people tend to act differently once they hear about your big brother or your connection to the sports. For once in her life, Y/N wants to be seen as just Y/N.
Maybe she just want to prolong this little charade for a little while longer.
"Y/N nice to finally meet you"
2007, Nürburgring
Maybe its the home turf advantage that boosted his confidence but Sebastian managed to ask Y/N if she would like a tour around the place. Thankfully, she agreed. Sebastian was already blabbering about the places that they have to get to and Y/N had to remind him that they're not staying for a vacation.
He will tell you that he is not freaking out but he prepared for the whole afternoon. He even asked his mother what outfit should he wear to make it seem like a casual hangout. In his defense, he never had a lot of friends growing up and he certainly didn't have beautiful australian girls around.
"You know you don't have to bring me flowers, were just touring around"
It was his idea to bring flowers because he often sees it in airports. When someone new is in town, they bring them flowers. He felt like the orange gerberas were a good pick as advised by the florist he knows.
"But the flowers made you smile" Sebastian grinned "I'm more than pleased to have a happy tourist to tour around"
Then two engaged in a conversation about their early life. Sebastian shared stories of the town he grew up in and his stories of motorsports.Y/N, on the other hand, listened and shared some bits of her life in Australia before she traveled around the world.
Eventually the duo ended up in an orange farm, where they picked out oranges and waited for the sunrise to set in the horizon. It was a core memory that they will share with one naother.
"We should do this again sometime"Y/N suggested
"Its a breather for you and I" Sebastian agreed "Away from all the lavishness of F1 and the pressure of the sports"
"Sounds like you wanted to run away with me"
"Who wouldn't want to run away with someone like you?"
2007, Fuji Speedway.
The past few weeks has been stressful for the Webber siblings. The articles published by some news sites seems to be getting on Mark's last nerve. Everyone seems to be taunting him about how he is over a hundred of race starts already but then he still haven't won anything. The pressure is high and Mark was determined to prove them wrong.
"Mark just don't do anything stupid okay?" Y/N begs.
She watches as Mark suit up for the next race. She was already used to her brother racing but she knew this race was a little different since her brother wanted to win.
"I'm not going to be stupid Y/N, I'll drive good today and I'll get that win that they want"Mark grumbled.
Y/N handed the helmet to her brother, "Just stay safe, I don't want to lose you"
"I'll come back safe"
The race went underway and as usual, Y/N watches it in the comforts of the driver's room. She did not want too many attention focused on her and she felt like her heart might actually come out of her rib cage if she watches it on the stands.
Japan's wet races gives Y/N a heavy feeling that something bad might happen. Her heart beats rapidly as she watches cars after cars spin out or crash. She prays that none of them was Mark. or Sebastian.
There was 20 laps to go when her ears started ringing that a Red Bull has been rear-ended by a Toro Rosso.
'Please don't let it be Mark and Seb. Please don't let it be Mark and Seb'
But the voices in the Red Bull pitlanes and the storming voices of Mark confirms her worst nightmare.
"That kid is so stupid, he shouldn't have been allowed to drive" Mark roared "I had that in the bag, I was going to win"
Y/N immediately hugged her brother, "Its alright, the win will be coming soon Mark. What matters is you are safe"
There were frustrated tears from Mark as he cried in the embrace of his sister. Privacy was given to the siblings as the race continues on. She was so focused on her brother that she didn't notice that there were several messages in her phone.
Seb: Where are you? Seb: I messed up my race and Webber. Seb: Call me when you get this. Please?
2007, Shanghai International Circuit
It felt like a heavy weight on Sebastian's shoulder after he messed up. He kept on blaming himself that he did not just mess up his own race but he also messed up Webber's race. It did not help that Y/N was not replying.
The media has also been eating him up with the way that Webber responded to him. He was called a kid that did not have enough experience. It stings a lot but now he has to put up a brave face and just race.
"SEB! SEB!"
Sebastian looked back and he saw Y/N. There was no hesitation in him but he immediately hugged her. It was the only time ever since Japan that people aren't mad at him or hounding him for questions. He felt at ease to be with Y/N.
"Where have you been, I have been messaging you over the weekend"
"I'm here now, aren't I?" Y/N says "And before I forget, I made you this as a token of my apology"
In her hand, she has a paper bag. Sebastian's curiosity is piqued upon looking at the contents inside the bag. There was a tupperware with food and a sticky note in a messy handwriting "for sebastian vettel, you can do it."
"You cook?"
"I don't but hey its the thought that counts. I figure that you might need-"
Y/N doesn't have to explain a lot because Sebastian already appreciated the gesture. He hugged her again and it seems like everything just got a little bit lighter for Sebastian that weekend.
It wasn't Sebastian's weekend at all but remembering the little note, that was tucked inside his helmet, he felt a lot better. He can bounce back next season.
2008,  Autodromo Nazionale di Monza
This was the internal dilemma of being Sebastian's friend and being Mark's sister. The two of them are in different side of the coins for this season. Two drivers shared the same family with Toro Rosso being the sister family of Red Bull but it seems like that's their only similarity.
Then there was the mixed emotion. Of course, Y/N was proud of Sebastian because he is slowly improving and shining with every grand prix. She was always elated when they see each other post-qualifying or post-race at the hotel rooftop (it has been their common knowledge that they will meet up there so that they can get fresh air together). On the other hand, Y/N knows about the pressure that it is being placed with her brother. Mark has been declining and losing hope for a maiden win. He has been in the sports for some time and he believes his time should have arrived by now but he lost opportunity after opportunity.
Y/N can't fault anyone for this one. Both of them just wanted to achieve their dreams. She wished everything does not have to escalate but here they are in the 2008 Monza Grand Prix.
Sebastian Vettel was starting on pole while Mark was starting third. Everyone is buzzing about the possibility that Toro Rosso might clinch a first win before Red Bull. It was something that Y/N knew bugged Mark's mind.
It didn't help that it was a rainy start and it sort of brought her back to Japan 2007. She was not an overly religious person but she prayed to any higher being to please don't let Mark and Sebastian crash with each other again.
The race went underway and the rain was not as heavy as Japan. Still there was some crashes and some spin. But Y/N felt the conflict of emotions start again upon seeing how Mark started to drop places while Sebastian pulled away from the rest.
Y/N went out of the driver room when it was nearing the end of the lap. She didn't know whether she should run and congratulate Sebastian or she should stay behind and comfort his brother.
Of course, blood is thicker than water.
Mark looks absolutely defeated as people started to ask him about how he is feeling when their sister group got its first win before them or how did he manage to mess up his 3rd position to eight.
"Just please give him some space, we will be answering the questions later" Y/N stepped up. Right now she was not Mark's sister but rather Mark's assistant.
Y/N helped Mark to go back to his driver's room so he can get a few minutes to himself before he gets questioned by the media again.
"It feels like shit. I feel like I can't do anything right" Mark threw his gloves across the room.
"It wasn't your time yet Mark" Y/N replied. Its like a broken record at this point which frustrates Mark.
"Then when will it be my time? Sebastian has been here for just a year or so and he already have a grand prix victory"
Y/N knew that this was the dam breaking. No words can comfort her brother right now so she just went to give him a hug. She could only wish in silence that Mark gets his win eventually.
On the other side of the paddock, there was cheering. Sebastian Vettel was in cloud 9 as he saw the Toro Rosso mechanics and engineers calls out his name. Everyone was in full party mode that they have even tossed Sebastian up in the air.
Everyone wanted to talk to him. They wanted to ask him about how he is feeling or how he created history today. He was the youngest driver to have a maiden win and the first one to bring victory to Toro Rosso.
But Sebastian eyes seem to search for someone in the crowd. He wouldn't voice it out but there was a certain woman he was hoping to see when he stepped into the podium. It had a slight twinge in his heart but the roaring crowd silenced that feeling.
'Maybe I'll see her later' Sebastian thought.
However, there was no Y/N in sight for the rest of the weekend.
2008, Marina Bay Street Circuit
Sebastian was still experiencing the highs of his Monza win and the Singapore GP has also been a good race for him. He might not have a podium finish but 5th was good enough. However if there was one thing that bothered Sebastian was the lack of Y/N sightings.
He tried messaging her after Monza but there was no reply. He thinks its probably weird that he didn't even get a congratulations because surely Y/N would know about it. There might be a couple of reasons why she didn't see it which is a) she was sick or b) she resigned.
Sebastian was gunning for the first choice because surely Y/N won't just resign without saying goodbye.
So imagine his surprise when he saw the woman that has been bugging his mind at the exit of the pitlane.
"You could have answered my texts you know" that was Sebastian's greeting to her
Y/N seems to be caught off-guard by Sebastian's presence. She was still in her work outfit Sebastian takes note as she was carrying a tote bag.
"I'm sorry. It just got a little busy for me"
Sebastian nods, he understands how having a job here is quite difficult. He could not fault her for that.
"Why not lets celebrate? I won in Monza and I finished fifth here"Sebastian offered "Consider it as your make up dinner for not congratulating me"
There was that hesitant smile gracing her face again and it reminded Sebastian of the first time she didn't tell her name. She seems extremely conflicted.
"Seb I would love to but I still have to do some work and-"
"Y/N, there you are"
Sebastian and Y/N whipped their head to the source of the voice. Mark Webber started walking towards them. It confused Sebastian as to why he knew Y/N but then he remembered that Mark was probably the one that Y/N has been working with.
"I told you to wait for me"Mark says as he picked up the bag of Y/N "I was just fixing some things with Christian"
"I can carry my stuffs myself Mark" Y/N replied
"But you have been walking in your heels the whole day, it's going to make you cranky sooner or later" Mark quipped back.
Now this confused Sebastian. It seems like their dynamics is not just work related but rather something personal. He also felt like he has missed a whole chapter and he feels very invisible at the moment.
"You two know each other?"Sebastian managed to ask.
There was a panic in Y/N eyes as if she wanted to explain but it was Mark that beat her to it.
"Of course, I know her" Mark admitted "Why wouldn't I know my sister?"
And it was that moment that Sebastian pieced out why she haven't been able to message him or why she was MIA as well in Japan. He felt stupid because he never inquired why she didn't give out her last name or why she was booked at the same hotel as the drivers.
Great just fucking great.
2008, Interlagos
It was eating her alive that Sebastian is not in speaking terms with her.
In hindsight, she understands that sooner or later, she has to tell him about who really is. She just didn't know that it will be as early and as unprepared as what happened in Singapore. She also got an earful from Mark who questioned how did she manage to meet Sebastian and why does it seem like the two are close with each other.
Honestly, she can't wait for the season to be over so that she can rest from all the drama but she knows that she has to make amends before winter break starts.
And so she slipped to the Toro Rosso garage, under the disguise that as Mark's assistant, she has to talk to Sebastian. So here she is in Sebastian's driver room, waiting for him to arrive.
"Can't I deal with this after-"Sebastian immediately stopped in his tracks upon seeing Y/N "Oh its you"
Silence enveloped the two of them. Y/N has a practiced script in her head but no words doesn't want to come out.
"I'm giving you five minutes or I'm kicking you out" Sebastian warned.
"I just came here to say that I am sorry. It wasn't really my intention to deceive you. I just wanted to be friends with you without my last name being too intimidating. I know that its terrible but I was going to tell you my name someday but Mark just got into the way and its all shit"
She was word-vomitting, she was sure of it. But hey its better than keeping everything as a burden on the shoulders.
"Say something please?" Y/N wondered with Sebastian's silence.
"You could have told me, don't you trust me?"
"I trust you Sebastian. Its just, its really complicated to be seen as Mark's sister or Mark's assistant. I just want to be just Y/N when I'm with you"Y/N sighs.
Y/N felt bummed as she thought she could fix this before winter break starts but she knows he might need some time.
"I know that its not easy to forgive me. Its selfish of me to do that so I won't force you to forgive me" she says "I'll give you some time to collect your thoughts"
Y/N reached out for the door when she felt a hand tugging her back. She saw Sebastian reaching out.
"Just give me some time"
"I will. Don't worry" she understands "I have to say I'm really proud of you this season. You did well Seb"
There was that silence when Sebastian held her. She knows things are far from okay and there is the upcoming season that has the possibility of Sebastian being upgraded to Red Bull but in this moment, none of that matters. Its just them. Just Y/N and Seb.

Caught In Her Web
A/n: I love women
Summary: [Yandere] Dinner never seems to go right with Kafka
Warnings: Toxic date, memory erasure, unwanted touching, unconscious kiss
Tumblr media Tumblr media
———
Her gloved fingers tap against the wooden table, every sound only increasing the tension through the room.
"Hm? Oh, don't look at me like that, I'm not gonna eat you dear."
At this rate, you wouldn't doubt if she did take a bite out of you.
"Kafka, quit this, what do you need from me this time?"
"Don't be so heartless [Name], maybe I just wanted to have dinner with my favorite person through the universe's."
"Cut it out."
"I'm not messing with you," her leather covered hands slowly make their way into your own, both palms caging your own in hers as she makes heavy contact into your soul. "Let's just eat shall we?"
You don't reply, only looking hesitantly at your hand covered by her malice.
You knew of the existence of scripts, she never hid information from you. Whatever information she did withhold probably would’ve been stuff you wouldn’t wanna know anyway.
The food laid between you two, the steam floating off it being very visible, yet Kafkas eyes completely overshadow them, rather than being drawn to the appetizers your focus is entirely on her, you don't look into her eyes, but just staring at her gloved hands is enough.
She has that effect on people you assume.
Her left hand plays with your arm, the digits of her limb playful crawling up your skin until they catch onto your chin, forcing you to finally look at her.
"You know darling, it's common coutersy to look at someone when you talk to them is it not?"
"I'm not gonna look at you."
Her fingers quickly release you from her hold, a playful 'hm' leaving her lips as she takes a fork and, somehow, makes stabbing a steak look both violent and elegant at the same time.
"Fine, be that way, the least you could do is let me feed you."
"I doubt you'd give me a choice."
"Hm, you're smart, good," the knife cuts through the meat, her utensil slowly lifting it to your mouth, her lips telling you to say 'ahh'. "Be careful dear, it's hot."
You don't give her the satisfaction of listening to her, despite the heat of the food radiating off of it, you don't blow. You'd rather burn your tongue than make this criminal happy with you.
You were right, your mouth is in so much pain. You try to keep your face neutral, but you can't help letting a little of the pain escape.
"See, I told you it was hot. I just praised you too."
You swallowed, it hurt like hell, but you swallowed. You're sure if it wasn't boiling it would've been delicious, but what's done is done.
"Try to at least enjoy our dinner, this will be the last time I see you for a while"
"Hm, maybe you're right, that does sound like something to celebrate."
"Oh, so you're only witty when it comes to remarks against me?"
"Was that not obvious?"
"You wound me [Name]" she looked down at the food again, instead of giving you more she only sighs and pushes the plate to the side. "Seems the dinner plans fell through. That's okay, Elio saw it coming."
"So even your 'heartfelt' dinner was apart of the script."
"Not all of it, we were just meant to sit at table filled with food, that wasn't apart of the plan."
"So you decided toying with me would be funner?"
"Playing with anyone is enjoyable to me, it's just nicer when it's you." She smiles after her words. Just that, a closed lip smile at you.
You look at the clock she had set up, it felt more like a countdown than a way to keep track of time. 3 hours left, that's too long for you.
"What, so you added your flirtations into this dinner?"
The more you think, 3 hours left till what?
"Hm, I did, is there problem? I don't think I hide my liking towards you."
Your brain can't remember what it was you were waiting for. It's like the memory of what waited for you at the end wasn't there anymore.
"You don't, but I wish you did."
Keep... Date... As long... Possible...
She leans across the table, her lips ghosting over your earlobe, a deep laugh escaping from her throat.
"How will I express my adoration for you then?" Her whisper came out teasing, yet if you looked past that, you can hear her underlying annoyance slip through the cracks. "Perhaps lock you in a golden cage like an innocent bird? Or should I do like a spider and trap you in my web." You sit still, not daring to move.
"Jokes of course, though, I would like for you to stay with me."
Feint words of broken memories invade your head, beating like some painful headache.
"Once this is over, you'll be different. It's sad I won't be able to keep the [Name] I cherish, but it's the price we have to pay for the script. These last moments will be what I'll have left of you, so I hope we can enjoy it together.
The whispers felt familiar, like you've been through it before. Spirit Whsiperer...
"Now, can we please enjoy this last meal of peace before it changes ?"
Your hands grab onto her as you push her to her side of the table. Your breaths were heavy once you remembered the situation the damned clock. Looking back at the time, how could time go by so quickly?
1 hour left.
"Don't try using that shit on me Kafka. It was 3 hours left 10 minutes ago how the hell could that be."
"That's the [Name] I like to see." She doesn't answer you, not a single question. While you frantically shake her.
"I told you myelf, I really do enjoy messing with you." Her hands aren't gloved anymore. The leather long being discarded, her fingers slowly reach up to your cheek pulling you closer to her face.
Her fingers are cold, like a corpse. You don't shiver though. Her touch is the most undisturbing part about her. It's what makes her so horrifying.
"Times up dear." Her thumb ghosts over your lips, gently placing her digit on you. She stand up from her seat, being eye to eye to yourself, her other hand placing itself on your waist, seemingly pulling you closer.
"Boom."
Your vision blacks as your head falls forward, the last thing you remember being the soft feeling of your face resting on her shoulder. Ice cold fingers are left stroking your head as the sound of a door opens.
"At the end of the day," Though you're out cold, deep down she wishes you can feel the way her freezing lips place a chaste kiss on your own. "I'm a selfish woman."
------
A dim light is all your blurred vision can see, the sound of a feint hum ringing through the empty space as well. Your head is rested on what feels to be someone's thighs, whoever it is must be the one rubbing circles into your chest, more specifically, the area where a heart would be.
It's not beating. Your hearts not working.
"You're awake." Your eyes clear as you look up at the woman smiling from above. She's beautiful.
She's familar.
"Do you remember me?"
"..."
She waits.
"Do you like me?"
“I…”
She doesn’t say anymore, only tracing patterns into your skin as she waits, that unwavering smile still on her face. The lights grow darker. You don’t hear a throbbing in your ears, something someone with a heart would hear in distress. You don’t have that anymore. Well, maybe not anymore, you can’t remember if you ever did have one.
“Who are you?”

"A minute to spare" I stated throwing the bag onto the table in front of him. He smirked looking down at the bag. He stood up. "Thought you were about to stand me up pretty boy" He smiled at me. I rolled my eyes and looked off to the side.
"Why are you requesting me? That's not how this works" I said looking up at him. He just stared down at me with a cold hard gaze. "I'm your supplier, you're the buyer" I said pointing from me to him.
He chuckled looking down. "Aw come on Matthew, I would consider us friends wouldn't you?" He asked smiling motioning between us. I clenched my jaw. I just had to leave my girlfriend to fend for aftercare for herself to come look this guy in the face.
"We're not friends" I said looking at him. He glared at me. "I let you hit a blow off my last package I would say that's pretty friendly" He shrugged looking at me.
"I had a chat with Landon" He said making me look up at him. "Mentioned something about Pallo, a run in at the tracks?" He sighed looking around before landing his eyes on me. I clenched my jaw.
"Some...girl?" He smiled looking down at me. I looked off. "I don't know what you're talking about" I mumbled. He hummed. "So what you're saying is she's available?" He asked looking down at me. I just glared up at him.
"Northside meat doesn't come around here so often" He said softly. "Tastes so sweet, leave her around here too long she starts to get bitter" He said towering over me.
I shook my head looking off. "You got your package, we're done here" I stated stepping back and turning around, but there was a girl standing there with a gun in her hand. I just looked at her raising my eyebrows.
"I want you to meet a friend of mine" Slim said from behind me. The girl smiled walking up to me and then past me walking next to Slim. I sighed turning back around looking between them.
"This is Cecilia" He motioned to the girl with dark hair and dark eyes. I looked over at her. "You keep those packages coming in, Cecilia won't be in issue" He motioned to her. "You keep lying to me" He pointed at me.
"Northside might get a little visit" He stated as Cecilia glared at me. I shook my head. "My dating life shouldn't concern you or Cecilia" I stated looking between them.
"It doesn't" Slim shook his head. "But I don't like your attitude" He pointed at me making me turn my head and take a breath. "And you threatened my friend Pallo" He said stepping towards me. I glared up at him.
"I didn't like that either" He clenched his jaw down at me. "So step out of line again, or y/n's getting a visit I don't give a fuck who's daughter she is" He glared at me. It shook me a little bit that he already knew her name but I didn't let it show.
"Tell Pallo to stay off the tracks and I wouldn't have to threaten him" I stated back at him. "Y/n and I are not together" I lied looking at him. He hummed stepping back.
"I hope you're telling the truth. Northside blood in this buisness is a sweet thing" He smirked. I clenched my fists from the way he was speaking about her. He glanced down to my fists.
"But you're not together then?" He smiled. I let out a hard breath. "This conversation is over" I said through gritted teeth. He clenched his jaw and narrowed his eyes.
"Thanks for the package delivery boy" He smirked and I shook my head and turned walking out.

I ran up basically jumping onto Matt. "Boyfriend!" I yelled wrapping my arms around him, pushing him to the ground from the impact. His eye were wide as I laughed.
Chris and Nick looked down at us shaking their head. "Is this what being in a relationship is like?" Chris asked looking over to Nick. Nick shrugged. I smiled as Matt attempted to get out of my grip.
"Why are you attacking me?" He laughed sitting up. I smiled sitting up. "First time my dad is letting me come over here, to his knowledge" I smiled brightly at him. He smiled and shook his head.
"Calls for a celebration" I smiled. Matt looked up at Nick and Chris. "Yeah I agree, you two get out" Matt said looking between them. They glared at him. I rolled my eyes.
"Not that" I pushed his shoulder and then stood up off the ground and extending my hand, which he took and I pulled him off the ground. He smiled down at me.
"Then what?" He asked pushing hair behind my ear. "Okay, I feel like i'm watching something I shouldn't" Nick mumbled as he walked out of the room. Chris smiled and shook his head before leaving the room too. I just shook my head as they left.
"I missed you" I frowned looking up at him. He smiled leaning down at picking me up, wrapping my legs around his torso. He smiled as he held me against him, just smiling at me. "I missed you my love" He whispered.
"I'm surprised you can carry me like this skinny boy" I chuckled looking down at him. He rolled his eyes before throwing me off of him and onto his bed, making me laugh. He smiled crawling over me and pinning my arms down.
"You seem so happy" He smiled at me, letting my arms go. "Because I am. I'm with you, i'm always happy" I smiled. He rolled his eyes. "I want that in writing" He said shaking his head, making me roll my eyes.
I smiled up at him trailing my arms up his arms just admiring him. "I love you" I whispered. He smiled leaning down and kissing me slowly. "I love you more" He whispered against my lips. I let out a breath.
"Never leave me" I whispered. He smiled. "You couldn't push me away" He smiled before kissing the side of my face. He moved his hands over my curves. "Now" He breathed looking back up at me.
"What do you wanna do baby?" He whispered smiling.
-
"You're disgusting" He cringed as I picked up a diet coke. I rolled my eyes. "Go get your Pepsi and shut up" I shook my head at him. He shook his head reaching over me and picked up at Pepsi.
"Come on" I grabbed his hand and pulled him towards the candy aisle. He just smiled at me as I picked up a snickers bar. "Snickers or Hersheys?" I asked looking at him. He sighed. "Neither those are fucking gross" he laughed. I rolled my eyes before throwing him the m&m's and grabbing the snickers.
We walked up to the register scanning the items before Matt paid. We walked towards the door out of the gas station. He held the door open for me looking down at me. "What movie do you wanna watch?" I smiled up at him. He smiled and shrugged.
"Whatever you want my love" He stated grabbing my hand. I smiled looking up seeing a girl standing against a car looking at us. She looked over at me a slight smile on her face and I furrowed my eyebrows as I looked at her.
She had dark hair and dark eyes, a few tattoos lining her arms and a nose ring. Her gaze felt hard on me, I couldn't shake it. I paused slightly when I felt Matt drop my hand. I looked up at him wondering why he dropped my hand as I saw him staring at the girl too, his face dropping.
"Hello Matthew"
My head looked between her and him, my heart slightly clenching from her knowing his name, when i had no idea who this girl was. She kicked up off the car before walking up to us. Matt swallowed stepping slightly away from me. I just looked at him.
"What are you doing here?" He asked looking down at her with a strong glare. "Matt who is this?" I said looking at him, my smile completely gone. She smiled looking over at me. Not an endearing smile, like a sarcastic smile.
"Cecilia" She stated holding her hand out for me to shake. I glanced my eyes down at her extended hand and back up to her face, crossing my arms over my chest. She lowered her hand taking a deep breath.
"See this one takes after you Matthew" She smiled at him. I clenched my jaw wanting nothing more than to wipe that damn smile clean off her face.
"Y/n, let's go" Matt said staring at her, but I didn't move. "Matt who is she?" I asked again looking at him angrily. "Yeah Matt, who I am?" She smiled up at him. He took in deep breath looking between me and her.
"She's no one" He stated looking at me. I just looked at him worry all over my face. "You two together?" She asked motioning between us. I looked up at Matt waiting for him to respond. He looked down at her clenching his jaw.
She looked over at me, raising her eyebrows. "Yes" I said glaring at Matt. Matt bit his lip looking off to the side. "Oh" Her face lit up. "Are you?" She said looking at Matt who closed his eyes.
"He didn't make that fact so clear when I first met him" She smiled at me. My mouth slightly parted as my arms dropped by my side as I looked up at my boyfriend.
"Stop" Matt said looking down at her. She smiled and shrugged. "Did you? Or did I misunderstand when you said you weren't together?" She asked looking down at me. Matt grabbed my hand pulling me away.
"We're leaving" He stated as he dragged me away. I didn't say anything as I looked down at my shoes as we walked away. I swallowed the lump in my throat as we walked. He looked down at me once we turned down the street.
"Y/n" He stated. I didn't look up at him.
I didn't want to be mad at him. I didn't want to fight anymore. I just wanted us to be okay. But god, that hurt.
I felt my eyes pool with tears as I let out breath. He stopped walking and I turned away from him, not wanting him to see my face. "Y/n" He sighed grabbing my arm, making me look at him. His eyes scanned my face and he closed his eyes looking down.
I pulled my arm away from him.
"It's not what it looked like, I promise" He sighed looking up at me. I shook my head letting a tear fall from my eye. "It's okay" My voice broke. He bit his lip as he looked at me.
"I promise" He whispered and I nodded. "It's okay" I repeated. It wasn't okay. Nothing about that interaction was okay. My heart was physically clenching.
He shook his head. "It's not okay. I've only interacted with that girl once and we didn't even speak. I was talking to someone else" He said shaking his head. "When you said we weren't together you mean?" I asked softly looking up at him. He sighed looking at me.
"I had to. You don't understand the situation" He shook his head. I threw my hands up as tears fell down my face. "Then help me understand" I said shaking my head. He pressed his hands to his face.
"I can't" He said looking at me. I swallowed looking down. "You told me there wasn't anyone else" I whispered. He stepped forward, putting my face in his hands. "There's not anyone else. There will never be anyone else" He shook his head, his eye pleading with me.
I looked off to the side. I could choose to trust him. I could choose to let this go. After all, it was just some random girl. I looked up at him. He looked at me with sorrow on his face as he reached down wiping my tears with his fingers.
“I promise” He shook his head. I let go of a breath. “Okay” I nodded. He sighed pulling me against him. I knew he had secrets. I wish he didn’t, but I guess that was just a part of him. Being his girlfriend I had to deal with that. I just wish I didn’t have to.
“Come on, I’ll let you pick any movie and I won’t complain” He smiled down at me. I smiled softly and nodded. He grabbed my arm and pulled me against him, wrapping his arms around me as we walked.

She felt stiff beneath me, like she wanted to melt against my touch but her body wouldn’t let her. I swallowed as I let her go but still held her hand.
I knew the second my eyes landed on Cecilia, it was gonna be bad, but I wasn’t expecting her to cry. It broke my heart and it was out of my control because there was nothing I can do.
I just prayed to god that she didn’t think I was cheating on her, because I would commit murder before that happened. I hated the way this made me feel, the way she gave in so easily and the tears streaming down her face as she said it was okay.
It broke my heart.
I hated this. I hated hiding from her. I trusted her with my life. Why could I trust her with this? The only issue was that it didn’t just effect me, it effected Chris and Nick too. Most of all, it effected her. It would effect her life if she knew why I knew Cecilia. It would put her in danger, more than she already was.
That I wasn’t willing to risk.
“Formal is next weekend” I smiled down at her, making her wipe the last year from her eye and smile at the ground as we walked.
“You picked a dress yet?” I asked pulling her slightly. She looked up at me, a slight blush on her cheeks. She shrugged. “I have this one dress that I wore to my cousin’s wedding last year. It would work, but I don’t love it” She mumbled looking at the ground.
I just looked down at her. “I’m sure you’ll look beautiful in anything my love” I smiled making her shake her head.
“It kind of reminds me of a Halloween costume more than a dress. My dad didn’t want me to wear anything revealing” She laughed lightly, making my eyes go wide. I shook my head pulling out my wallet and stopping.
She turned back towards me as I pulled out two hundred dollar bills. “What are you doing?” She asked staring at me. I handed her the money. “Buy something you love” I smiled at her. Her smile dropped and shook her head attempting to hand the money back.
“No, I don’t wanna take your money” she stated, but I stepped back. “It’s not my money I don’t know what you’re talking about, I’ve never seen that in my life” I shook my head smiling making her shake her head smiling.
I walked over to her putting her face into my hands. “I want you to feel good. Especially when you’re dressed up. Take the money and shut up for once” I sighed looking at her. She shook her head blushing.
“Fine” She smiled making me smile. I stepped back as we continued to walk back to my house.

I sighed as flipped through what seemed like the same 100 dresses. They were either too short, too long, too flashy, too boring. All of them looked like something I would die before being seen in. It felt like a crime even trying it on.
I didn’t even tell my dad I was coming here, and I wasn’t going with Matt. I didn’t want him to see me in a dress until he had to. I wanted it to a surprise. So here I was shopping by myself. I silently thanked myself that I didn’t bring Matt because he would make me show him all of the dresses I tried on before I decided against them.
Staring at the dress in the mirror, I think he would have broke up with me. I ripped it off my body before picking up the last dress. A small flowy gold dress, not too flashy of a gold, with small gold bows on the straps.
I smiled picking it up off the hanger before unzipping it and stepping into it. I smiled as I smoothed out the dress, looking at myself in the mirror. I turned and spun around in the mirror. I love it.
Finally.
I tilted my head imagining Matt’s reaction to the dress. He’s never seen me in a dress before, let alone one this pretty. I turned looking at the dress from behind. Or this short. My dad was gonna flip.
I didn’t care.
Matt would love it. I smiled wanting to jump and down. Before pulling out my phone.
to: matty baby
found the dress
I looked back up the mirror, imagining what I was gonna do with my hair, the makeup. I never got to dress up, God sometimes I didn’t even feel like a girl. The only person who made me feel like I was a girly girl in a dress 24/7 was Matt.
He was the only I didn’t have to put on a cold front around. The only one who saw my soft side, but I guess it was the same with him. No one else saw him like I did. That made me more happy than the dress.
I felt my phone buzz as I unzipped the dress and stepped out of it grabbing my old clothes.
from: matty baby
yeah? let me see
I slipped my shorts back on and pulled the shirt back over my head before texting back.
to: matty baby
just took it off. Sorry you’ll have to wait.
I grabbed the dress before opening the dressing room and stepping back out into the store, looking down at my phone as he responded.
from: matty baby
does that mean you’re naked? Now I really wanna see :)
I shook my head as I walked up to the register.
to: matty baby
no, it means I’m walking up to the register to buy the dress Matthew.
I smiled up at the girl before handing her the dress glancing back down at my phone.
From: matty baby
NAKED????
I muffled a laugh before texting back.
to: matty baby
you’re impossible. go back to your nap please
I handed the girl the money as she printed my receipt and put the dress in the bag. I felt my phone buzz
from: matty baby
can’t. Now you got me thinking about you naked, impossible to fall back asleep now
I smiled as I pushed the door to the store open texting back.
to: matty baby
scroll through pictures I’ve already sent
He texted back immediately
from: matty baby
you haven’t sent me new ones in SO LONG. please come over
I rolled my eyes.
to: matty baby
I’m on my way
“It’s a cute dress”
My head snapped up. I hadn’t realized I stopped walking and I didn’t realize the girl staring at me. I sighed and looked down when I realized who it was.
“What’d you buy it for?” She smiled walking slowly up to me. I crossed my arms over my chest. “You’re stalking me now?” I asked looking at her with narrowed eyes. She rolled her eyes.
“You wish” She shook her head. I just looked at her. “I just like to shake you up” She smirked and tilted her head at me. “You looked pretty shaken up the other night” She smiled. I rolled my eyes.
She’s just trying to get under my skin and I wasn’t going to let her. I glared at her. “You seem pretty interested in my boyfriend” I stated. She smiled and closed her eyes.
“He’s pretty cute” She stated pushing her lips together. I clenched my jaw turning to the side. “Yeah, well he’s got a triplet brother who seems just your type” I said my jaw strong as I attempted to move past her, but she blocked my path.
“You seem soft” she stated looking at me. I glared at her. “And you seem like a bitch” I spat back. She stepped up to me glaring hard.
“Watch it Northside” she snapped. I rolled my eyes. It’s always the Northside this, Eastside that. “I might look warm and fuzzy on the outside, but come near my boyfriend again and the fuzz falls off. Got it?” I snapped back.
She smiled stepped back.
“I kinda like you, in different circumstances I think we’d be friends” She said nodding and crossing her arms over her chest. I scoffed. “And what circumstances are we currently in?” I asked looking at her.
She licked her lips and shrugged.
“None. Just wondering what a girl like you’s doing with a guy like him” She smiled, but it wasn’t sincere. I took in a breath.
What would it look like? The chief daughter getting arrested for assault. Dad blames it on Matt, saying he’s a bad influence on me. We’re back to square one of sneaking out the window.
Not worth it.
“Just leave me alone” I shook my head as I started to walk. She followed me walking by my side. “Northside blood dating Eastside blood. I can’t recall last time that happened” she smiled up at me. I ignored her as I walked to my car.
“I’m pure blood. All Eastside in me” she smiled making me stop. “Pure blood? The fuck do you think this is Harry Potter?” I snapped turning to her. She smiled and shrugged.
“Just thinking maybe he shouldn’t waste his time with someone like you” She stated boldly. I can’t fight her. I don’t think I’d even win. “I think I’d look good next to him” She stepped back.
“Our tattoos would match” She motioned to her arms. “And I’ve got piercings in places you can’t even see” She smiled tapping her nose ring. I shook my head at her.
“You look like you’d kill a bug and expect his trophy” She chuckled. I glared off to the side. Why was I sitting here listening to this chick?
“He might like the sweet taste now” She stepped towards me. I just watched her. “But then he’ll get sick” She pouted. I let out a hard breath. “Then decide he wants something a little more sour” She smiled. I gripped my bag hard.
She glanced down at my bag. “Have fun at your dance sweetie” She said tapping my bag with her fingers before pushing past me and walking off.
I let out a hard breathing trying to shake what she was saying to me. I normally don’t take anything people say about me to heart, especially with a boyfriend like Matt. I get digs left and right and so does he.
But she was right. I did look soft standing next to him. I opened my car door before throwing my bag into the passenger seat of my car.
I pulled out my phone.
to: matty baby
change of plans. I’ll see you in a couple hours.
He immediately texted back
from: matty baby
what why?
I clicked off my phone before throwing my phone next my bag, putting the key in my car and gripping the steering wheel, hard.
this was a little short but oh whale

"He Can't Have You" (Astarion x Reader)
Seems as though Auntie Ethel doesn't go down without a fight, and that fight involves bringing out the worst in people's minds. (Also we get to see where the nickname Aster came from)
tw - mentions of abuse, panic attack
The Sunny Wetlands, later revealed to be a putrid swamp, have proven particularly difficult for Astarion. The last thing any of you expected was to find a Gur hunting him, especially this far from the city. It made your heart skip a beat, hearing the monster hunter utter his name, and you could feel the tension in the vampire. Thankfully, you did away with him quickly. By now, he's told you plenty about his past, at least as much as he could bear to tell. That haunting feeling though, knowing that Cazador was hunting him, it was paralyzing. As you searched for Mayrina, you and Astarion fell behind the rest of the group.
"Are you alright my love? I could tell them we should just set up camp for the night, rest up for dealing with the hag."
"Nonsense. What would I look like, asking everyone to stop for me? The Gur has been dealt with, let's just leave it at that darling."
"I cannot imagine dealing with the hag will be easy though."
"I'll simply run my blade through her like I do everything else. I'll be fine."
It hasn't been long enough with him to truly know if he's lying, but you certainly have a hunch. On the way back to the hag's house, Gale casts detect magic.
"She's definitely in here. We should be prepared."
Sure, she looked like a sad old woman, but those adventurers told you the truth, how she took their sister. When Karlach leads the charge, opening the door, she tries to look shocked.
"Oh dear! It's quite rude to storm into someone's house like that. Where are your manners?"
Without responding, Karlach throws her axe into the hag's shoulder, breaking the illusion, showing the monster for who she is. Covered in grime, like a witch born straight from the mud.
"It looks like I'll just have to teach you all how to be polite!"
Karlach tries to go for a second hit, but the hag teleports. Gale soon tracks her down, casting a ray of frost. Astarion follows her up the stairs while she tries to counterspell Gale. You and Lae'zel try to attack from a distance, missing because of just how quick she can move from place to place. Wyll has focused on assisting Gale, and Shadowheart is keeping track of all your party members, making sure to be there as soon as one of you takes a hit. In the meantime, she casts guidance on Astarion, who is fighting much more intensely than usual. Perhaps killing the Gur wasn't enough, and the anger was still boiling inside.
"Alright little mosquito, you want to be a thorn in my side? Poor decision."
The hag disappears from sight, and Astarion stops in his tracks. At first you think nothing of it. It almost looks like he's searching the room for where your enemy landed. For him though, the hag has cast a strong illusion, preying on his worst fear: being back in Cazador's grasp. The teahouse has transformed into the kennels, cold stone on bare feet, blood spattered across the walls.
Well, well, well. Seems as though the boy never learns! Perhaps, this time, will set you straight.
He hears the voice of Godey taunting him, threatening to pull him apart again.
"No! No, I left- I left, I was free!"
It's at this moment you realize he's not here, not in the mental sense.
"Focus on the hag, I'll try to snap him out of it."
You order the rest of the group, and they nod without a word, searching the teahouse for where she's gone now. You run up the stairs, finding a trembling pale man who has dropped his daggers.
Deep down, you like bein' leashed, don't ya?
The words bounce around in his head, a vision of Cazador appearing. You try to shake him, to mentally connect him back to his body, but it only plays into the illusion more, your actions becoming Cazador's.
"Astarion! Astarion it's just a spell, it's not real. It's not real my love, please."
Soon enough, your group finds the hag again, disrupting her concentration, releasing her grip on the elf. His breathing is terrifyingly fast, and he takes a moment to come out of the vision, grabbing a dagger from the floor and very quickly brandishing it towards you.
"DON'T."
You're trying desperately not to cry, because you know he doesn't need your shared sadness right now.
"Hey, it's okay. It's just me, Tav."
You lightly touch the hand holding the dagger, and he loosens his grip. Your hands move to take the blade from his grasp, setting his weapons to the side.
"I... I was there. I was back there."
"I know. Seems as though Ethel knows more than she should."
Astarion is still trying to root himself back in reality, you blood still racing in his dead veins.
"I can't go back Tav. Please, I can't go back."
"I know. I won't let you end up back there, ever."
He's still weary of physical touch, so you simply rub across his knuckles, trying to ground him in the moment. Your deepest urge is to wrap yourself around him and never let go, keep him in a protective case where no one can ever hurt him again, but that's not real. Being entirely safe isn't real. But damn, do you wish it was, for his sake.
As you're sitting there with him, the group makes their way back.
"We lost her. Have a feeling she went deeper into a cave somewhere."
You eye Karlach, and the two of you come to a silent understanding as you hold onto Astarion's shakey hands.
"We'll go set up camp where we entered the swamp. Take your time."
And with that, the tiefling takes the rest of your companions out of the teahouse, leaving the two of you alone.
"Why?"
You turn to look at him, cocking your head slightly.
"Why what?"
"Why would you say you won't let me end up there again? Cazador isn't some being you can simply keep me from, he's... different."
"I don't care."
"What do you mean you don't care?"
"I just, don't care. I don't care how powerful he is or whatever abilities he has, he can't have you. He just can't."
You finally do tear up now, not sure how else to explain it to the vampire.
"He most definitely cou-"
"No."
You try to blink the tears away, feeling the little callouses on his palm from over the decades.
"I want you to know what it's like to belong to someone in a pure way, not for personal gain, but just because they need you. And now that I have you... I just need you. I need you Astarion, so he can't have you. I'd die before he could take you from me."
He's silent for a moment. All forms of ownership he's known have been terrifying. Whatever could you mean by belonging to someone in a pure way? How can you belong to someone innocently? Your tadpole senses his concern, connecting without much effort at all.
"I don't need anything from you. I don't need you to do anything for me, I just need you Aster."
He smiles a little.
"Aster?"
"Yeah. Sorry, I had just been thinking about it. If you don't like it-"
"No I- I love it. Aster. Like the flower?"
"Yeah."
Somehow, the teahouse is peaceful in this moment. You feel young all over again, like you've never been in love before, like Astarion is the only being you've ever known. He interrupts your thoughts.
"Thank you, for saying all that. Maybe I wouldn't mind belonging to someone without expectations. It sounds, nice."
His voice cracks on the last word.
"Well, Aster, then you can belong to me as long as you'd like."
You swipe a piece of hair behind his ear, looking for a reason to get close to his face. As if the fates knew it to be true, you lock lips, despite the horrific smell outside and the creaking wood of the floorboards, you're somewhere else. Some place where the asters bloom in peace.

Beatles defending each other ❤️
In 1965 [the Byrds] toured England and Paul invited us to his club, the Scotch of St James’s [sic]. He sent a limo to pick us up. He said he had been listening to our music. We were blown away. He took us for a ride through London in his Aston Martin, at great speed. He was really hip, he and John were so tight it was like one person at times. Unlike the Byrds, [where] Crosby would just leave you out to dry, the Beatles all defended each other to the hilt. If you criticised, say, George then they would all respond.
Roger McGuinn, in Paul McCartney: Now & Then, Tony Barrow and Robin Bextor
“They’re four very different people who together form a unit that is virtually impregnable. If, for instance, someone should find fault with anything one of them has done, the others rush to his defence. They close their ranks. They’re very close indeed. A lot closer than people think.”
George Martin, Disc and Music Echo (1967)
And actually, we’ve got the image of him all these years about criticising Paul – yeah, he did, but it’s like [when] you criticise your wife. “I can criticise her, but you can’t.” I was there once when some guy was saying that he didn’t think ‘Let It Be’ was such a great record, and he thought John would agree, and he didn’t.
November 10th, 2009: Journalist Ray Connolly
Q: How did Paul react [to “How Do You Sleep”]?
John: I don’t know because I never saw him, but I think he made a comment last year which was pretty spot-on which was ‘whatever I’m saying about him is my problem, or vice versa.’ The only regret I have about it is that it should never have been about Paul because everybody’s so bothered with who’s it about that they missed the track. That’s what bugged me. I’m entitled to call him what I want to, and vice versa. It’s in our family, but if somebody else calls him names I won’t take it. It’s our own business. And anyway, it’s like Dylan said about his stuff when he looked back on it, it was all about him.
Patrick Synder-Scrumpy with Jack Breschard, “Sometime in L.A., Lennon Plays It as It Lays.” Crawdaddy [March 1974]
"When John did 'How Do You Sleep?' I didn't want to get into a slinging match. Part of it was cowardice. John was a great wit, and I didn't want to go fencing with the rapier champion of East Cheam-- But it meant that I had to take shit--It meant that I had to take lines like 'All you ever did was Yesterday.' I always find myself wanting to excuse John's behavior, just because I loved him. It's like a child, sure he was a naughty child, but don't you call my child naughty. Even if it's me he's shitting on, don't you call him naughty. That's how I felt about this and still do. I don't have a grudge whatsoever against John. I think he knew exactly what he was doing, and, because we had been so intimate, he knew what would hurt me and used it to great effect. I thought, 'Keep your head down and time will tell,' and it did because in the 'Imagine' film (Imagine John Lennon, documentary), he says it was really all about himself."
Barry Miles, Many Years From Now, 1997
“Well the deal was, he could say that, but if you said that, if anybody said anything bad about Paul, John’d take a swing at you. He’d say “you can’t talk about Paul like that”, Paul was his best buddy. If you were talking to Paul and you said something derogatory about John, he’d get up and leave. Paul was more of a peaceful guy, but John had that hot head, and he’d say “you wanna talk about Paul? Let’s go”. You weren’t allowed to say anything bad about John or Paul to each one of them because they would defend each other to the nth degree, which I liked, because you could tell they were attached at the hip.
Alice Cooper Live and Uncut on the Kim Mitchell Show
You know, John loved Paul. No doubt about it. I remember once he said to me, “I’m the only person who’s allowed to say things like that about Paul. I don’t like it when other people do.” He didn’t like if other people said nasty things about Paul. And he always referred to Paul as his estranged fiancé and things like that, like he did on that [live] record ‘I Saw Her Standing There’ with Elton in Madison Square Garden. And he knew that his relationship with Paul was very important to him. But you know, like all great friendships, they’d grown apart and married different people and had different lives. He knew what he didn’t like about Paul, but he also knew what he liked about Paul.
1990: Former Beatles publicist Tony King
George didn’t mind slagging Paul off. But he HATED other people doing it.

Unknown Dances
Mizu x Fem!reader
Synopsis: Mizu has culture shock while also having to attempt to fit in, however she ends up making a friend at a noble ball.
authors note: I literally researched about 17th century court dancing for this guys (I already knew a little from my intro to dance class but not nearly enough)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The cultural differences between Japan and London were so striking to Mizu that it took her two days to to understand a small bit of it. From what she had heard a ball of noblemen was being held and she thought that would be just the place she could find her next target.
She used Fowler as her way in since she assumed he was probably quite well respected among white people.
Mizu scanned over the party, she felt, strange wearing such an odd English outfit however to stay discreet she needed to look the part.
There's a band in the corner about to start a new song and the way people are locking eyes it feels as though they all know what song will be next. They begin finding partners and Mizu feels a tap on her shoulder.
A girl with her hair tied back into a beautiful updo, wearing a yellow ballgown is standing there. "I'm sorry I couldn't help but notice you look lost..have you never seen this dance before?" The girl seems nice. "Here follow me I'll help you," she gently takes Mizu by the hand and pulls her over to the two lines already forming. One of women and one of men.
Mizu was dropped off in the middle of the line of men, she didn't like this, she needed to get back on track. She had no idea was she was doing and-
The music starts.
She looks down at the feet of the man in front of her and follows as the man circles in front of his parter and back to his spot, then waits as her partner, the unnamed girl in the yellow dress, circles around her. One arm holding out her skirt, the other close to her chest.
This is all to stressful, she looks at the girl with a worried expression, however the gaze is not reciprocated because the girl is having the time of her life, smiling, laughing.
Mizu thinks the girl might laugh herself to death however the music stops and the girl turns to Mizu, "That was fun wasn't it?" Mizu is bright red with embarrassment? anxiety? she didn't quite know.
"Ah, you look ill come with me," the girl tries to grab Mizu's hand again. "No! I don't know you and yet you keep dragging me around, I demand at least a name!"
The girl looked surprised for a minute, a look of 'oh! a foreigner maybe that's why they were so confused!' but she soon snapped out of it "Goodness I'm sorry, my name is y/n..I'm also sorry for dragging you into something you don't know well people usually catch on quicker than you did."
Mizu felt her body destress a bit however she kept her gaze sharp, "Its..a pleasure to meet you y/n.." Mizu said, still quite unsure.
"Likewise" y/n says smiling patiently.
"Well y/n if you'll excuse me I have some um..important business to attend to," Mizu turns to walk away, face still red from embarrassment.
"Alright..um..I'll see you later then," y/n says in a somewhat upset voice, she hoped that this wouldn't be the last time they see each other.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mizu's plan was beginning to prove unsuccessful, everyone she had talked to had little to no info. She found herself back in the large ballroom.
She stared out at the crowd of people, and there she was, the girl in the yellow dress. Still dancing, still smiling. Mizu was envious.
She felt, compelled to that girl, as if she was out loud saying 'Mizu, come over here and dance! you're wound so tight!'
Before Mizu even thought about it she was already out on the floor taking y/n's hand, "May I dance with you?" she asks in a calm yet alluring voice.
Y/n just smiles politely and nods, taking Mizu's hand and swaying softly, "I'm sorry for coming off so," y/n pauses trying to find the right word, "strongly earlier" She gives Mizu an awkward gaze.
"I'm just not used to people taking a strong liking so fast," Mizu says, attempting to hold eye contact however she's fairly bad at it because she's focused on how her feet are moving.
The song comes to an end and people disperse, this time Mizu is the one to pull y/n. The two walk down the hall to a quieter spot. Mizu was acting so fast she didn't quite know what she was even doing she-
"I'm sorry I don't know why I pulled you off to the side, you can go back if you'd like," the words come out however she doesn't want them to.
"No its ok, I'll stay here," y/n says, "I need a minute away from the action" she lets out a soft chuckle.
Its quiet for only a minute but feels like forever before the silence is broken, "I'm going to be painfully honest I was drawn to you because of your eyes...not because you looked lost," y/n says "they're just so unique and such a beautiful color."
Mizu felt her cheeks flush hot and fast, "thank you...? wait um, you're welcome? no that's not right eith-" y/n cuts Mizu off with a loud, joy filled laugh. "I know what you meant don't worry."
Mizu inhales sharply, "That color..yellow, it's beautiful on you" Mizu rushes the words out, she's never felt like this.
"Thank you," y/n says with a polite and delicate smile.
Another song is beginning back in the main ballroom, "This is my favorite!! lets go!" y/n says looping her arm around Mizu's. Once again dragging her off to dance.

She kisses Oscar when they first wake up. The only way he ever wants to wake up is with her in his arms. Despite the fact that it's the afternoon Vegas sun shining through the window, he could care less.
She's racing today in place of Carlos, and he couldn't be prouder of her. He's devastated that Carlos got injured from that stupid grate, but his girl is driving a Ferrari. He's pretty sure the Spainard will understand.
Oscar laughs softly to himself, recalling the memory or how their 'rivalry' started.
~~~~~
"Carlos! Wait up!"
The Spainard slows his pace and waits for Oscar to catch up. "Hey man, it's not your fault, I didn't give you anywhere to go."
"I'm sorry too, didn't mean to be so... I don't know..."
"Seriously, mate, we all make mistakes on track." Carlos claps him on the back and gives him a reassuring smile. "Was that all? I, unfortunately, have to go he eaten by the media sharks."
Oscar laughs at the comparison. "Actually, I had an idea."
"Oh? Do tell?"
"I thought it might be fun to cause some chaos."
The two males find themselves huddled over Carlos' phone, crafting a petty tweet that will definitely get people's attention.
Thus was the start of their 'rivalry'.
She'd laughed so hard with Lando when they found out. The utter ridiculousness of Oscar being any kind of petty had them in tears.
"Oscar, if you weren't dating my sister for so long, I might believe you."
"Might?! I'm petty when I want to be!" He huffs and crosses his arms.
"Petty? My love, you are the king of unbothered. This thing with Carlos is cute, though!" He pouts in disappointment but quickly forgets about it when her lips meet his. "I wouldn't have you any other way."
~~~~~
Oscar spends his morning (afternoon) complaining about the diet Kim has him on. It's completely unfair. They both sneak a cookie anyway. Giggling as they get away with their crime.
He walks her to the Ferrari garage and drops her off with Charles. He doesn't want to let go; the goodbye kiss is longer than neccecary, and Charles makes a fake gagging sound.
"Shut up, Charlie. Like you don't make out with Max." She waves off Charles indecent noises.
"I'd rather not watch baby Norris get it on. Not when I have to face Lando sooner or later."
Oscar shrugs. "What a way to celebrate his birthday, no?"
"We'd be having a funeral for him if that ever happens." Charles watches them with fondness, leaving each other's embrace for the last time.
Lando teases up until they are forced to separate and head to the grid. A plethora of jokes about Oscar with his sister in Vegas are had. To the point where Oscar manages approximately one indecent joke and Lando shuts up.
"That's my sister, mate."
"And she's my wife, your point?"
~~~~~
Oscar stands nervously at the edge of the water. Daniel and Max keep reassuring him it'll be fine. However, he wouldn't put it past those two to push each other into the water while officiating.
Logan stands beside him. He smiles happily and nods to where she is walking down the beach.
Oscar may be unfazed by most things, but he is only so strong. She looks ethereal walking down the Australian beach in white, flowers decorating her hair.
Lando is the one walking her down the aisle on her request. Both her sisters trail behind her.
It's just their immediate family and a few close friends. It's intimate and small, just the way they wanted it.
Daniel does end up pushing Max into the water. Oscar is to wrapped up in his new bride to notice, let alone care.
His entire world came together that day. Oscar could lose everything but still have her and live the rest of his life a perfectly content man.
~~~~~
The faster her drives, the sooner he can get of this car and go check on Lando. The crash looked awful; like the car just slipped out from underneath him. It's making him more nervous than he would like.
His lover can't be fairing much better, that's her brother. The last thing she needs right now is to be distracted. Which he most definitely is not.
Oscar drives because he can't wait to see her after, to tell her how proud he is. Maybe he'll worship her tonight if she'll let him. If she isn't too exhausted-
The world moves in slow motion. She was ahead of him after his last pit stop. She was running in sixth, he's seventh but they both are lapping cars at this point.
The red Ferrari and the blue of the Williams collide. Oscar is barely able to dodge the debrief flying everywhere.
For a brief second, her car is over his. He wants to reach out to her; grab her and tell her it'll be okay.
Then she's gone.
Oscar hears his engineer talking to him, but he only has one thing on his mind. He stops the car, pulls of the belts off and bolts in her direction. Except it's worse than he imagined. The sight we he turns around is brutal.
The Ferrari is in pieces. The entire front is wrapped around the pieces of wire barrier it took out. The fence is decimated and the car itself is smoking.
Oscar puts himself to work. He can see her, clearly unresponsive. The marshals are talking to him. It's fuzzy, but he knows they are helping.
He tries to pull her out and has to choke back his tears while doing so. Metal rebar from the car sticks into her through her abdomen. Her head lolls to the side like it's been snapped.
Oscar pulls her helmet off instead. He makes eye contact, and shatter. She's trying to talk to him, but it's incomprehensible.
His body is half in the cockpit with her as they cut the car away. He's not being useful now, but they have to understand. This is his entire world bleeding out for everyone to see.
He cups her face tentatively, as gently as he can manage. "Please love, stay with me - please - you did so well, come on love - open your pretty eyes for me." He chokes on broken sobs. He rips his gloves off, longing for the feel of skin of skin. Forehead pressed against hers, he will her to stay awake.
The marshals try to pull her away, but he knows as soon as they do, she's going to start bleeding worse. He screams at them defensively, not sure why, he just needs everyone to leave them alone.
Logan is the one to pull him off with the help of a few others. Oscar whips around out of Logan's grip. "This is your fault!" He regrets the words when they leave his mouth. Logan looks sick, pale and clammy.
~~~~~
Logan sits next to Oscar after filming another video for Prema. He's never been the biggest fan of media, but Logan makes it more fun.
"You gonna ask her out today? Like I suggested a month ago?" Logan wiggles his eyebrows playfully.
Oscar shrugs. He'd been working up the nerve to ask her, but knowing who she's related to scares him a tad. She's out of his league by miles. "Not sure yet."
"Well, she's coming over here right now."
Oscar looks her way and has to fight the urge to cringe when they make eye contact. She is beaming at him. "Hello Oscar and Logan!"
"Hey! You got any plans for tonight?" Oscar reels when Logan sounds like he's going to ask instead. He'll say something like 'You snooze you lose, Piastri' after this encounter is over.
"Not that I know of."
"Great, Oscar doesn't either, He'll meet you tonight at six!"
"Will he be the one talking?"
Logan looks at Oscar and sighs when there is no response. "Hopefully."
"Okay then, I'll see you tonight, Oscar."
He does spin himself after she leaves and shoves Logan's shoulder. He mumbles some kind of thanks before crossing his arms and pouting like a child.
"Bet you she's the one."
And at the time, Oscar had laughed like it was a joke.
~~~~~
He only stops his seething at the distressed American when somebody pulls him away. He wants to push them off and run. He'll sprint to the hospital if he has too-
"Oscar, we're gonna get you there, okay?" Max and Daniel are escorting him off the track. They make no mention of the fact Oscar is converd in her blood.
Andrea tells him he can leave. Kim throws extra clothes at him and his phone. He can't look at it right now. The thought of dealing with any kind of media has him gagging as Max peels out of the parking lot.
He blocks out the drive. He tunes out the voices of Max and Daniel, trying to calm him. He'll be calm when he gets to her. Not a second before.
Oscar fights his way to her room. Determined to see physical evidence that she's okay.
Only, she's not moving.
The door to her room is wide open. Lando is sat curled next to Jon with his own medical equipment attached. His teammate is sobbing into his trainers chest, clutching his sisters limp hand.
Oscar takes tedious steps in. She looks so peaceful, entirely undisturbed. His knuckles run across the cold flesh of her cheek.
A doctor comes in, but he doesn't pay any attention. Not until the confirmation finds its way to his ears.
"I'm sorry for your loss. Both of your losses."
Oscar turns his attention to the doctor. "What do you mean both?" He snaps.
The kind looking woman looks disheartened. It makes Oscar's chest crack further. "She was pregnant. I'm so sorry."
~~~~~
"Osc, seriously, I'm not too worried about it." She wraps her arms around him from behind.
Oscar spins her around so he can see her eyes and peck her lips. "You could be pregnant."
"Or - hear me out - I could be stressed." She cups his face and stares at him with adoration. "I want to have a baby with you - I just - I don't want to get my hopes up, you know?"
"Whatever happens, we're in it together. Baby or stress, we'll figure it out."
She pulls him back to bed despite it almost being the afternoon. "If it's a girl, we should name her after one of our mums."
"And a boy?"
"Jack, after his daddy, the greatest man I've ever met."
~~~~~
Oscar collapses.
He shatters.
He screams until his lungs give out.
He holds her one last time.
He whispers his praise.
Then he watches her leave, taking everything with her.
His world is gone.
The funeral comes around far too fast. The last name on the grave includes his, the hyphenated one. It was her idea to conjoin the two. He wanted to match.
Charles had been around to tell him what actually happened. Both him and Carlos are devestated. The Spainard believes it should've been him.
The sketchy patch jobs over the grates had been quick. Carlos had been the first victim. Oscar's wife had been the second.
The grate hit the underside of the car and knocked it off the racing line. Right after she passed Logan. The American just happened to be close enough that it looked like they collided. He'd just been an innocent bystander in a brutal accident.
The FIA and Ferrari are pinning it on her. The statements made, despite the footage and data, are claiming it a driver error. It makes Oscar sick.
Oscar refuses to go anywhere near a track until the FIA own up to their actions. So does Lando, Max, Charles, Daniel, and Carlos.
They get everyone to take a stand. Soon enough, there are no drivers to put on a show.
The FIA has nothing. They took everything away from Oscar, so he did it right back.
~~~~~
A year goes by too quickly. He feels like it was yesterday that she was kissing him goodluck. Now she's a Ferrari reserve, getting ready to test the car.
He's fretting over her like a mother hen, but he can't help it! He might actually cry prideful tears over how proud he is of her.
He always kisses her in case it's the last time.
~~~~~
Oscar kneels over her grave. Logan sits beside him, arranging flowers in the shape of a heart.
The Aussie had cried his apologies to his best friend as soon as he found out what happened.
He's been winning races left and right for a few years now. Lando and him have dominated. He's not got a title yet, but Lando does. Her brother has dedicated it to her. They are both winning for her. He wishes she was here to see it.
"You were right Lo, she was the one."

Stobin Different First Meeting AU where they go to prom together. This was meant to be an au post and turned into a mini fic oops (written completely within a tumblr post so sorry for the poor quality)
(edit: realized I should link the fic I was inspired by for those who don't follow me and so didn't see me reblog it earlier)
Steve doesn't necessarily want to go to prom, right? Like yeah, he'd been imagining it for a while, but now that he was very, very single it just didn't have the same shine that it used to. And he really wasn't ready to start dating yet. However, he didn't want to just, not go to prom, and also knew it would seem really weird (and pretty fucking sad) if he didn't go.
Which leaves him in a conundrum.
He thought for a while that maybe he would go with one of the junior cheerleaders. While he didn't have any close friends anymore, he was still friendly with plenty of people. There were girls that wouldn't be going to prom unless they had a senior boyfriend - some he had even gone on dates with in the past who wouldn't think a single prom date meant that he wanted a new girlfriend.
However, he is pretty sure most of those girls would have... other expectations for the night. And honestly? He isn't quite sure that he was ready to get back on that horse either.
... Not that he thought women were horses.
He's pretty sure men are normally the ones called horses in riding metaphors.
Anyway.
That left him stuck. He couldn't just not go to prom, but also didn't want to wind up trapped on an actual date with someone. So who could he ask?
His solution ended up coming from an odd place.
Robin Buckley was... quite honestly, kind of a weirdo.
She was cute, in an alternative sort of way. She never took any of his shit (he wasn't completely sure she even liked him) but also reluctantly laughed at the snarky shit he said under his breath during their Film History class. And not in the fake giggly way girls did when they were flirting, but didn't actually care about what he was saying, just the way he said it. She actually seemed to think he was funny. Even if that revelation seemed to piss her off.
The only reason he was even in Film History that semester - and therefore, knew who she was - was for the easy A. He got to watch movies in class, and watch movies for homework. He was willing to plow through a couple of shitty essays in exchange for a class that he didn't feel like a complete idiot in.
(Well, he was pretty sure Robin thought he was an idiot about movies, but just because he had trouble remembering the names and shit of characters, didn't mean he couldn't analyze the themes, fuck you very much, Buckley.)
They had gotten assigned a project together early on, and it hadn't been completely terrible. She had quickly taken over doing most of the writing portions, but hadn't thought all of his ideas were terrible. By the end of the project he thought they were even sort of having fun together.
He'd always been one to try his luck, take a little more than he was given. So, after that assignment was over, he started sitting next to her in class, not wanting that easy, if sharp, camaraderie to end. Robin rolled her eyes at him and asked him what he thought he was doing the first time he did it, but she never sent him away.
They ended up chatting more and more during down times, passing notes to each other and sharing sly comments under their breaths during the movies. Steve often had trouble paying attention at school, his mind easily wandering away, and it was almost as bad during most movies, but Robin helped keep him on track.
The class turned into one that was done for the easy grade, a last ditch effort to improve his already hopeless GPA, and became one he actually enjoyed.
The more he thought about it, the more he liked the idea of going to prom with Robin. It made the night seem a little less unbearable.
He thought about making a big deal out of asking her, because he knows that's what girls (and even Nancy) had enjoyed for past dances. He quickly scrapped that idea, however, because not only did he not want to put pressure on her like that, but also she seemed to hate public spectacles like that.
Or at least when aimed at her, they both enjoyed watching drama unfold in the halls a bit too much to say she hated it completely.
So Steve waits until the end of the day, their film class being their last, to pull her into an empty classroom. She follows him without question in a show of trust he didn't realize she had in him. The notion warms him, and for some reason makes it more difficult to get the question out.
"Why do I feel like you're about to try to sell me drugs or something?" Robin asked, raising an eyebrow at him. He squints at her in offense.
"Why is that your first assumption?!"
"I don't know! Why else are you pulling me out of the hallway all secretive like, making sure no one followed us, into an abandoned classroom," she asks, throwing her arms into the air.
"The classroom isn't abandoned, it's the end of the day! Also, who does drug deals on campus, that's just stupid?" He asks rhetorically, before waving one hand through the air, as if trying to erase the current thread of conversation. "That doesn't matter, you're distracting me."
"Well then, get on with it! Some of us have practice we need to get to."
"It's like talking to the kids," he mutters to himself, "Whatever. I wanted to ask - will you go to prom with me?"
That stops Robin up short. There's panic in her eyes now, though Steve isn't sure what exactly put it there. Was his reputation that bad that even band geeks are terrified of getting asked out by him?
"You want to go on a date? With me?" she asks slowly, disbelief coloring her voice, though it doesn't hide her unease.
"No, I want to go to prom with you," he scoffs, "Not go on a date with you."
"That is a date, dingus! The person you go to prom with is literally called your date!"
"Okay, sure, maybe, but I don't actually want to date you," he said, rolling his eyes at her.
Like, okay, he understood his reputation for being... what did she call him last week? A 'huge effing rake'? But that didn't mean that he was trying to date any girl that looked in his direction. A lot of girls looked in his direction. That was too many women, even for him.
Robin relaxes a little at that.
"Then why are you asking me to prom instead of someone you actually want to date?"
"Because!" he says, resisting the urge to flail his hands back at her. "I don't want to date anyone right now. Most people I ask are going to expect all these things from me - they're going to want dinner, and at the very least a kiss at the end of the night if not more, or another date the very next day. Because Steve Harrington is supposed to want those things!" He takes a deep breath and runs a hand through his hair to calm himself. "But right now? I really don't."
"Well then, what does Steve the Hair Harrington actually want?" She had relaxed fully at this point, a smile playing at the corner of her mouth.
"I want to go to prom with someone I consider a friend, someone who makes me laugh," he says after a moment of silence. "I want to dance badly to really corny pop music and drink just enough spiked punch that I don't remember how much I hate wearing any sort of tie. Then I want to go get milkshakes or go see a really trashy midnight horror flick, just because I'm having so much fun I don't want the night to end."
That small smile has grown into a reluctant grin on Robin's face. It makes her eyes shine and her freckles pop. Steve thought that if he was in a better place, if they had met at a different time, he could have fallen in love with her.
But they had met now instead, in some shitty public school elective course, and she was the closest thing he had to a friend that wasn't a snotty middle schooler.
"That sounds... like a lot of fun, actually," she says, mischief sparking on her face. "Who would've known the hidden depths hidden behind all that hair."
"Hey!" he protests half-heartedly, unable to keep a grin of his own off his face. "So what do you say? Wanna go to prom with me?"
"I guess," she sighs, acting like it was such a trial to go to prom with him. Him! But her next words make up for it. "Since we're friends, and all. However, I still expect you to buy me dinner, though you can keep the kiss goodnight to yourself."
Steve can't help the giddy laugh from spilling out of him. For the first time in weeks, he is actually looking forward to prom.

I've heard lots that we're excited about this part, please keep that in mind as you read and try not to hate me by the end of it. Also, a huge reminder I don't know much about business terminology, concepts, or situations.
“Oh, love?” He said quickly right before she hung up.
“Yes?”
“I’m so proud of you,” he told her.
Can you bring this file in? FYI Harry’s mad. Don’t be alarmed.
:( be right in
She hated when Harry was mad. Nothing made her more nervous than when he was angry. She had only seen it a handful of times. Fortunately, it had never been directed at her. She was hoping to keep it that way. But moreover, she hadn’t been an immediate witness to his temper either. In the six months she had been at Styles Incorporated, she had only heard him yelling through Niall’s phone or from an office she passed. Unbeknownst to her, whenever he yelled or got frustrated, Niall did everything in his power to ensure she wouldn’t be around. He did it regularly because he knew his track record with the interns before. But now he did it because he was Harry’s best friend and as his best friend, he knew how much this girl meant to him, even if Harry wasn’t fully aware yet.
Of course, there was nothing to get mad about outside company walls. So, when he was angry, all she felt was worry and sadness. If Niall needed her help mid-meeting and he was mad, then it was dire.
Taking a deep breath, she glanced at the meeting title on Niall’s schedule one last time. The meeting was held for the last three hours of the workday with the anticipation of finding a solution within the first hour. But they hadn’t so it was now approaching hour two. She grabbed the appropriate folder making sure the name on the meeting in his schedule matched the folder in her hand. She had looked over that file with Niall not too long ago. Like an epiphany, she knew the reason for Harry’s anger. She wished she had told Niall this morning all the research she had been doing before he went about his own business. Or at least asked what his thoughts were on what she had done. Unfortunately, since landing in front of Harry and Niall this contract issue had been all-consuming and there hadn’t been much downtime for her to get a word in to either of them while at work. It was especially too late now. She had no idea what they had discussed up to this point. Grabbing the folder off Niall’s desk she hurried down the hall to the conference room. As she was told on her very first day, she knocked and entered. But her heart was beating out of her chest like she was in trouble. She entered in the middle of Harry’s rant, and she made eye contact immediately with Niall who sent her a quick wink to keep her calm. No one looked at her except for Niall. The idea of even glancing in Harry’s direction made her too nervous to do anything.
“— as I’m concerned we can stay here all night until we figure out a plan!”
The venom in his voice made her uneasy. She was so shocked that the man that previously rubbed petroleum jelly all over her body and kissed her like she was made of porcelain could produce such a sharp tone that it made her almost visibly cringe. There were at least fifteen people seated around the large table. No one looked at Harry. They all typed rapidly on their laptops looking for solutions.
“If someone doesn’t come up with something in the next five minutes, I’m going to start firing someone every 10 minutes until the end of the day,” he growled out.
Naturally, Niall was seated beside Harry at the farthest end of the table from the door. He was the only one who looked calm. She didn’t know how he could sit right next to him so unaffected. Must have been nice to be his best friend. She walked slowly. As if she walked that slowly, Harry might not see her. She didn’t want him to see her. She was worried he would get mad at her reflexively. Which didn’t make any sense because it didn’t involve her at all. But it didn’t matter. His anger made her sad solely because she cared so much about him—whether he knew it or not.
“What if we ask one of them to le—”
Harry turned his head like he was in a horror movie and just possessed by a demon. He spoke toward the person about to say (arguably, even from her perspective as a lowly intern) the dumbest thing she could have ever imagined someone saying at this moment in time. “You’re not about to recommend that one of our biggest clients leaves?” He snapped bitterly. She flinched almost imperceptibly at his tone. “What the fuck am I paying the lot of you?” He grumbled under his breath.
Everyone was avoiding eye contact with everyone else, not just Harry. “Does anyone have a semi-intelligent idea, or should I start firing people?” She couldn’t believe how harsh he was. But that’s why he was the boss, and she was just an intern. “Someone better say something useful in the next fifteen second or everyone—”
At the same time Harry spoke, she handed the file off to Niall. The silence was approaching near deafening. “Thank you, darling,” he whispered.
Without her realizing, her anxiety of Harry’s anger proved to be too much for her. The need to find a solution, offer a solution bubbled out of her mouth without her brain’s consent, she spoke just as Harry was about to fire the whole group. She wanted it to be whispered to Niall but her brain, as always, was so wrapped up in Harry that her mouth bypassed all rational thought. It took her a moment to notice it was her own voice speaking. “Why don’t you just have them partner together so it’s a mutual agreement between them?”
The moment the words left her lips, she slapped her hand over her mouth with an audible smack. She closed her eyes and refused to make eye contact with anyone. “I... am... so sorry,” she glanced finally at Niall. His eyebrows were raised in surprise, lips parted in shock. Like he was just as frozen in disbelief as she was. The outstretched folder in his hands hadn’t even fully made it into his possession yet. If she thought the room was silent before, nothing compared to the ear-piercing quietness now. After another moment suspended in a long pause, Niall turned to Harry.
“That’s not a bad idea,” he mumbled. Harry appeared shocked by her outburst as well. In fact, for the first time all day it seemed, he was speechless. His eyes were scanning her like he had only just noticed she was there. Maybe she was lucky, and walking slowly did make her invisible.
“Go on,” Harry said. She could tell he was still wildly irritated, but he bit back his frustration once he realized it was her. That made her nervous in itself; she hoped no one paid any mind to how he lessened his tone. She swallowed the lump in her throat.
“I-I don’t—” She shook her head.
“No, go ahead,” Niall said encouragingly and rubbed his forehead at the same time, so he was covered when he winked at her without anyone else at the table seeing behind his hand.
“Uh...if...you partner them before you ask for what you want out of a merger...then it avoids a conflict of interest,” her voice wasn’t unsure, per se. She was confident she was correct. But she was terrified of Harry. Well...not...her Harry. Not that he was hers...but the version of him that cared for her in some capacity. He would never make her feel stupid or question her.
“Oh, we can’t seriously be taking an intern’s advice,” a woman at the other end of the table said. She glanced at her and could feel her own face warming in embarrassment that she was so thoughtless to say anything.
Harry’s head snapped toward the woman at the other end. Since she specifically did work for Niall, she knew nearly no one other than Harry and a few people from IT and HR. She didn’t even know the name of the woman that somehow took offense to her idea. “I’m sorry, did you have an idea?”
“There’s no way she knows what we’re talking about. She’s not even supposed to be here. This meeting is confidential.”
“Love, d’you have anything to attend to, or can y’stay for the last bit of this?” Harry asked.
“Oh, I don’t have to stay,” she shook her head quickly. Trying to keep Harry, Niall, (and now) this woman happy was her first priority...even if she hated the woman at the other end of the table. The last thing she wanted was for someone to notice Harry treated her differently. “I was going to tell Mr. Horan abou—”
“Niall, is she busy or can she spare a few minutes to stay and chat?” Harry asked, interrupting her.
“Mr. Styles, this meeting is confidential!” She would really like to know what she did to piss this woman off.
“Does anyone have a better idea?” Harry asked. It was silent.
“You should stay, darling,” Niall smiled gently as he murmured the words to her. He stood quickly and gestured for her to sit. He leaned against the windowsill, perched the folder on his lap and flipped through the first couple pages scanning for information.
No one answered Harry’s question. Specifically, the woman at the other end who was glaring at the now empty seat beside Harry. “Then, please sit,” Harry said quietly. But it was really an order. So, she sat uncomfortably. She never left her office without a pen behind her ear, which she was more grateful for than ever. Taking the writing utensil from her ear, she pulled it into her lap and fiddled with the cap opening and closing it quietly so she wouldn’t let it click but still allowed her to fidget awkwardly.
“Please continue,” Niall said from his spot by the window. Harry started pacing the length of the wall across from the window. Near the door to the hall.
She cleared her throat. She wanted to sound confident. Part of her wished she wrote it down. “Well, Mr. Horan had mentioned the dilemma...so I researched some similar cases,” she explained.
She spoke for a couple minutes. People were listening to her intently. She even surprised herself, but she thought of the research she had been doing when Niall mentioned the stressfulness of the most recent contracts and why this one of all things was going to be dire if they didn’t come up with a solution. All she wanted was to help; specifically, she wanted to help Niall the most (ergo Harry as well). Plus, she liked research. A few people had minor questions, curious as to what cases she looked up or how she even knew in the first place of where to look. “Well... one of my professors was big on conflict of interest, so I emailed him to ask.”
Niall and Harry made eye contact from their respective corners of the room. She was too nervous to look at either of them to notice the look that passed between them.
After speaking for so long, she finished her little monologue with a summary. “If my understanding and research is correct, this is definitely more of a legal process and problem we would—excuse me, you would have to go through. What I found, however, if you have the two clients for a partnership on this project, then you no longer have a conflict of interest. You do have to fill out a disclosure form and—”
“And lose a ton of money,” the woman at the other end grumbled. “Why are we even considering this?”
Harry didn’t speak. He was still pacing. He had had his hands clasped in front of his face; his index fingers pressed against his lips. Her heart was racing. Niall put the folder in front of her. On the very top paper Niall had written on a sticky note: you’re doing great :)
She took a deep breath. “Yes, there would be a pretty significant loss...but as far as I can tell by my research, the only other option is to lose one or both of the clients. Which I think would be arguably detrimental,” she concluded and pressed her lips together. She bit the inside of her bottom lip to keep her from saying anything else.
Harry spun on his heel at the sound of her accurate conclusion. For one miniscule moment he held her gaze. It was so brief if she wasn’t so in love with him, so attuned to catching where his eyes were looking, she might not have noticed. “Do you all recognize how this was an actual helpful contribution to our situation?” He asked rhetorically once more.
“Losing money is helpful?” Who spit in her coffee that she had such an attitude? And why was it directed at her idea? Did she not know that a business like this was a group effort? Her heart was hammering against her chest so fast; the idea that someone thought she was stupid made her feel so embarrassed.
“Losing the least amount of money is helpful,” Niall remarked casually looking up from his folder.
“Thank you,” Harry said, and it was a surprised sounding thank you. One that she hadn’t ever really gotten from him. Most of his thank yous oozed with kindness. This one was flat. Like he was trying to not show how truly thankful he was for her.
“Get up,” Niall whispered quickly as he leaned toward her to grab a document out of the folder. He didn’t mean it maliciously and she could tell that. In fact, she was quite grateful he told her what to do because she wanted to run out of there. She would have thrown herself out the window to escape if that meant she could get away from the awkwardness of Harry’s anger and that woman’s anger. She stood and Niall put the piece of paper in front of his mouth and directed his speech against it so it would go toward her ear. “Go get the disclosure form, check your phone. Great job,” his voice was so low, but she didn’t miss how the seriousness emphasized how proud he really was.
She exited around the opposite side of the table as Harry made his way back to his original seat. She left the room and breathed a sigh of relief getting out of there. She could already hear Harry chattering away on the other side. Almost immediately her phone vibrated in her pocket. It was Niall.
HOLY SHIT.
Oh my God...
Oh. My. GOD.
Good or bad?
I’m freaking out!
GOOD. I’M SO PROUD. Bring the form back in, you don’t have to stay, knock and give it to Harry.
Do you want me to fill it out?
Darling, if you fill it out, Harry might not be the only one who falls in love with you.
*
She was practically bouncing in her apartment when she got home. She felt so light, so excited to contribute something of worth to Harry’s company. She cleaned and danced around the whole place feeling like she could truly do anything. Once cleaned, she pulled the laundry from the dryer, and she was bouncing to the music in her headphones while she waited for her leftovers to reheat in the microwave. She was going to fold laundry and snuggle up with a good book after eating and having one of the best days of her professional life thus far.
She emailed her professor back and thanked him for the help, told him how grateful she was, and the advice was so helpful that she really thought she might get a job at the end of the year.
I had a GREAT day! She texted Louis and Eleanor.
Oh yeah? Did Harry finally fuck you?
Louis, can you just...? Eleanor sent an eye roll emoji to their chat. She giggled. Not even Louis being cheeky could embarrass her right now. What happened, love?
So, she sent a few voice messages and told them all about the woman that seemed to hate her for no reason. All about how Niall was impressed. Her professor was impressed. Maybe most importantly, Harry was impressed.
Of course, she hates you. Harry values you and your opinion. She’s JEALOUS. She didn’t want to believe Louis. The idea that anyone would be jealous of her was laughable. But it created a pang in her chest because there was just no way that anyone would ever think Harry would willingly be with her in that way. That he would see her in the light that could possibly make people jealous.
Don’t forget we’re proud of you too, love :) Eleanor replied.
Her phone rang at that moment with Louis at the other end. “Hey,” he said softly.
“Hi, are you alright?” She asked curiously hearing the gentle tone. It was very unlike Louis to sound so quiet. Her eyebrows furrowed together as she listened alertly for signs of trouble.
He chuckled. “Yes, babe. Promise.”
She pressed the phone to her ear with her shoulder as she folded her laundry. “Then—”
“I’m so proud of you,” he whispered. She stopped folding. Her heart fluttered and she rolled her lips into her mouth. Louis wasn’t one for long loving speeches. She only ever heard his big speeches all of three times. Once when her brother died and he spoke at the funeral, the next when he found out how she had been living for the two years since his passing with her parents, and finally when he told Eleanor how much he loved her and wanted to spend the rest of his life with her, and she snapped pictures of him sliding a ring into place.
This, apparently, was going to be the fourth time. “I didn’t video you, because I know you’re probably fighting back tears already, so I just want to say this and then I’m going to hang up immediately because if I even hear a sniffle I’m going to run over there, and you know how I hate running.”
She smiled because if she laughed or breathed, she would have started to cry.
“Your brother would be unbelievably proud of you. Actually, I know he’s proud of you. Prouder than anyone—prouder than Eleanor, me, Harry, Niall, your professor...everyone. You are incredible. Your parents have no idea who they’re missing, and your brother is...wow,” he said simply in awe. She let the tears silently flow and she nodded, trying not to breathe into the phone because she didn’t want to bother Louis by making him run. Her heart ached so badly. Nothing was fair about this moment. Her brother should have been there. But she loved Louis so much for being there for her, for cheering for her when no one else did. “Okay, I’m gonna go now so you can cry in peace. I love you, babe, always and always.”
“Me too!” She heard Eleanor from the back.
“Talk soon,” he said sweetly, and the call ended.
She released a noisy sob and brushed the tears away. Unfortunately, she didn’t cry in peace for longer than thirty seconds. Niall was calling her before she could catch her breath. “Hello—?”
“I’m so sorry to bother you darling, I know you probably just got settled at home, but I was just wondering if you could send Harry and I the artic—are you crying?” He asked. She accidentally let her sniffles get the best of her as she tried to calm herself while he spoke. She even turned the speaker away from her mouth to hide it as best she could so that he wouldn’t hear. It clearly didn’t work. “Darling, are you—?”
“What’s wrong?” Harry was at the other end. “Love, are you okay?” The worry in Harry’s voice melted her already breaking heart. She sniffled again trying to regain her breathing so she could respond but all the words were choked off. “Kitten, please,” he begged anxiety so evident in his voice she could almost taste it.
“I-I’m fine,” she whispered sniveling like a child. “I’m—"
“No, you’re not,” he sounded like he was shaking his head and trying to convince her that she wasn’t okay. “Love, do y’need help? Are y’hurt?” She imagined him pacing Niall’s office. Squeezing his phone and in the right circumstance she believed Harry was strong enough to bend the metal frame.
“No!” she said hurriedly before Harry had paramedics breaking down her door. Or more than likely, before he broke down her door himself. “I’m okay,” but she was hiccupping on her uneasy breaths so much she couldn’t get all the words out fast enough, in one breath, to assuage his worry.
“Kitten, I don’t—”
“It’s just...my brother,” she croaked and let the tears of sadness but overwhelming kindness from her best friend flow some more. The last thing she wanted to do was worry Harry. She squeezed her eyes shut trying to force the tears to stop and she pressed her hand over her mouth so hard as she (very unattractively, in hindsight) snorted around a sob.
“Oh,” Harry almost sounded relieved. She nearly heard the sigh of relief deflating his tense shoulders. He figured she wasn’t hurt and that made all the difference to him. “Oh, m’so sorry, love,” he whispered. “M’glad you’re alright. Can y’jus’ call us back when y’feel up to it in a bit? Take your time, really s’not imp—”
“No, no,” she took a deep shaky breath. “No, I’m alright,” she sounded a little more confident.
“Love...” he cooed again almost disapprovingly. “S’okay. It doesn’t—”
“No, it’s alright,” she sniffled. “What do you need?” She asked.
Harry sighed. “The articles or the cases y’found. Our lawyers wanted—”
“Sure, sure. One second, I should—” she hiccupped on her own breath again but continued as if she didn’t interrupt herself, “—have sent them after the meeting.”
“It’s alright, y’didn’t know,” he answered softly. She hurried to her bag by the door with her laptop inside. Grabbing it she made her way to the kitchen counter and flipped it open. She liked listening to the way he sounded on the phone. His breath was comforting. It occurred to her she had never spoken to him on the phone since that first day at Styles Incorporated.
They were both silent while she booted up her laptop, save for the occasional sniffle. “One second.”
“Take your time,” he repeated. She released a shivering breath and Harry sighed like he was in pain. He didn’t think she lied to him on any kind of regular basis, but he thought she might if she was worried, she would upset him. So, while he hated the idea of her mourning someone so close to her—especially when the consequences were obviously much worse than he would ever know based on her brief retelling of the situation—and he couldn’t necessarily make it better, he was grateful she wasn’t hurt by someone else.
“Okay,” she gasped again trying to regulate her breathing. “Sorry,” she said awkwardly. “I’m forwarding you the email—” shaky breath, “—I sent my professor and his responses so you can see the progression of our talk,” punctuated sniffle, “so you know why I have these certain cases.”
“Thank you, kitten,” he murmured quietly. His heart broke a bit more hearing each hitch in her voice as she spoke. “Have a great night.”
“You too,” she responded quietly.
“Oh, love?” He said quickly right before she hung up.
“Yes?” She sniffled.
“Thank you for the meeting today. Y’did a great job. I’m...” he chuckled. “I’m so proud of you,” he told her. “I couldn’t say it in the meeting, of course... But m’really, really proud of you. I don’t think s’an exaggeration t’say y’saved a huge piece of the company. It was very impressive.”
Her heart felt like it was breaking all over again. “Thank you.”
“Sleep well, love,” once he hung up, she finally released all the cathartic cries and tears she bottled up since Louis spoke to her.
*
As good as her day was after the meeting—where she felt she actually, confidently did well—the following day was equally (if not worse to the same degree) terrible.
It started off okay. She was still riding her good day high from yesterday all morning. Niall was out of the office on many meetings and calls thanks to her. All of which he was grateful they were even happening, and he periodically sent her messages saying he was really looking forward to his afternoon coffee because he had been so busy, and it was all thanks to her. Since Harry stole the phone from him the night before he still hadn’t gotten a chance to congratulate her in person on one of the most amazing meetings he had ever been to.
She always looked forward to coffee. Mostly because she would catch a glimpse of Harry when she delivered his tea to him and after having such a good day yesterday, and impressing him at that, she was really looking forward to seeing him for a minute. Especially before their movie night tonight.
However, returning with their afternoon coffee was exactly when her day turned sour. Her coffee didn’t taste very good. It was minor, but it dampened the thrill of getting Starbucks.
Additionally, her bank sent her a message asking if she had purchased $200 worth of merchandise overseas. “Oh, fuck,” she hissed as she set the tray of drinks on her desk while she replied to the message. So now she had no debit card for a week and she wasn't big on using her credit card if she could help it. So much so that she left it at home unless she was traveling.
But those were still minor inconveniences in comparison to the remainder of her afternoon. She delivered her tea to Harry’s office as she always did at the same time and frowned as he wasn’t there. Not wanting to look like a psycho stalker, she exited his office quickly, leaving the tea on his desk and made her way back to her office.
She never really brought it up around Harry and Niall, but as part of her university’s end of the deal at this internship, she had to write reflections periodically about her time at Styles Incorporated. Therefore, when she didn’t have anything pressing on her plate from Niall, she would write a few sentences here and there on her personal laptop.
But her laptop didn’t turn on.
“Okay...” she sighed rubbing her hand on her forehead as she planned her next steps to buy a new laptop...without debit card access to her account.
“He won’t sleep with you.”
Her head snapped up to the sound of the woman that clearly disliked her from yesterday. She still didn’t know her name. “Pardon?” She shook her head in surprise.
“Harry,” she stated rolling her eyes. She stood in her doorway of the small little office inspecting it with distaste. It was small but perfect in her eyes. To this woman however, it was a garbage can. Her nose practically upturned as if it had the same stench as trash. “He won’t sleep with you,” she repeated.
She blinked as if she had misheard her. “Wh-what?”
“The whole innocent-look on you is overdone and tiring,” she said. “Harry doesn’t sleep with people that work for him. Especially the interns.”
Her lips parted in shock. “I don’t—”
“Everyone wants to sleep with him,” she rolled her eyes. It sounded like she tried and failed. “Don’t think just because you’re all buddy buddy with his best friend and second in command that you’re special. There have been plenty of interns before you and there will be plenty after. You’re not special. Harry doesn’t fuck plain girls.”
Her heart shattered and she felt her face warm in complete embarrassment, but she couldn’t move or speak.
While she trusted Harry way more than she trusted this woman who obviously had it out for her, it was her worst fears said out loud. She knew she was plain. She knew that people like Harry didn’t go for girls like her—especially when he had done this before, and she was already so insecure about how she looked and how their companionship worked. “Just because you had one good idea doesn’t make you special or smarter than the rest of us,” she repeated.
She wasn’t special. She heard it loud and clear over and over.
“I’m sorry,” she said because what else was she supposed to say?
“Pathetic,” she snorted, rolled her eyes, and like a movie, she bumped into her desk and spilled her coffee clean across her already broken laptop, all over her desk, and spilled some onto her skirt. Perhaps the only highlight of the day was that her skirt was plain black, and the coffee tasted bad. So, it wouldn’t stain obviously for everyone else to see with the remainder of the workday...and it wasn’t a waste of coffee. She gasped at the coldness, but she supposed it was better than hot coffee. Make that the third highlight. The coffee spilled from her desk to the floor, and she glanced back up and the woman was gone.
She got up in hurry to head to the breakroom, get paper towels and try to calm herself. But of course, she slipped a bit on the spilled coffee whacking her arm so hard on her desk she was sure it would bruise. That was the last straw.
She sat in a heap on the floor for a moment trying to process the last hour of work and how good yesterday was compared to how horrible right now was. “Hey darling, how’s my schedule look this afternoon?” Niall called breezing by her little space, and she didn’t even realize she was crying and still sitting next to a dripping puddle of coffee when Niall turned back from his desk and coffee to see her sitting there. “Darling, you okay?” He asked nervously. She stood and sniffled shaking her head. Smoothed her soaked skirt and pretended like she was fine not looking toward Niall.
“Yeah,” she sniffed awkwardly. “Spilled my coffee.” She was no snitch.
“Oh, jeez. Sorry, darling. I’ll go get you some paper towels—”
“No, s’fine. My mess,” she mumbled, and she tried to use the mouse for the desktop but since coffee covered the length of her desk it wouldn’t move fast enough for her to click through. “Uh...” she shook her head. “I’m sorry...” she croaked. “My computer—”
“Hey,” Niall said gently, and his voice was closer. He was right behind her. “S’alright, don’t... Hey,” he said grabbing her wrist as she tried to figure it out, tried to find a solution like she always did. “Darling,” he cooed.
It broke her. It was too much, so much of the day went wrong so quickly it threw her. Niall’s quiet voice was kindly soothing, and it was all she could take in that moment. “I’m sorry,” she whimpered.
“Oh, hey,” he sighed and turned her around and wrapped his arms around her comfortingly. She accepted it because she felt like if she didn’t her body would give out. She pressed her hands over her eyes as he held her and gently rocked. He didn’t pay any mind to the coffee that was probably getting on him yet again because of her. Her arm ached and she just wanted to go home so bad. “Shh, it’s okay,” he promised, and she shook her head. “Hey, what happened, love?” He asked gripping her shoulders and pushing her back a bit so he could try and look into her eyes. She shook her head.
“S’nothing.”
“Darling, it doesn’t look like nothing—”
She sniffled more and kept the part of her face covered. “It’s so stupid,” she hiccupped feeling like an idiot for crying in front of her boss.
“I’m sure it’s not,” he said encouragingly and pulled her back to his chest so he could let her cry. And she did for a good minute feeling the slightest bit relief.
But then naturally her day got even worse.
“Niall, I thought you—” instinctively, she ripped away from Niall her face warming as Harry saw how cozy Niall got holding her. Comforting her. She dared a glance at Harry.
For the first time in six months, he looked mad at her. “Sorry,” she whispered to Niall...or Harry. She was sorry regardless. There was nothing to apologize for, but she remembered when Harry saw Niall squeeze her arm. This was a thousand times worse.
“Yeah, sorry,” Niall shrugged. “We—”
“What’s wrong?” Harry wondered but his voice was tight. The air was so tense it felt like she couldn’t breathe. He wanted to be worried. She could feel it. Him asking was a chance to clear up the comforting. She should have just said it. But there was jealousy and sadness blocking his concern for her. It made her so anxious she felt tongue tied.
“She—”
“Let her talk,” Harry snapped. Niall may have been his best friend but that meant he knew when to speak and when to stay silent.
“It’s nothing,” she whispered.
“It doesn’t look like nothing,” he ground out.
“Harry, stop,” Niall said immediately coming to her defense.
“Then tell me what’s wrong,” she didn’t look up, so she didn’t know Harry was staring at her. Waiting for her response. It never came. Her lower lip wobbled, and she glanced at Harry momentarily. Long enough to see how angry he was.
But she didn’t miss the hurt hiding in his beautiful, sad green eyes. “I’m fine, it’s nothing.”
“Your turn,” he spat at Niall. Harry wasn’t thinking rationally because all he saw was the sweet girl sobbing into the arms of his best friend. He was upset about the company stuff, even with her brilliant idea it was still nerve wracking to have so much of what he spent most of his 20s on, in such a fragile state. Topped with the girl that clouded all his dreams upset and crying to Niall...all his irrational brain could think was that they fell in love working in such close proximity to one another. Plus, Niall was often more even-tempered and nicer than Harry was on a regular basis.
He scoffed at Harry. “Harry, no way,” Niall shook his head. “You know—”
“Apparently, I don’t know fucking anything,” he snarled. She visibly flinched at his tone. She shook her head, but Niall beat her to the punch. Besides, she couldn’t defend herself even if she tried to talk because it would be lost on broken sobs.
“Jesus Christ, Harry, don’t be a dick,” Niall rolled his eyes. Obviously if it was anyone but Niall he would have been fired on the spot. But as his best friend he supposed he had perks. “She was crying when I got here. She won’t even tell me what’s—”
He didn’t even let Niall finish. “My office,” he snapped and stormed out of the room.
She had a whole new set of tears flowing and she covered her face again. “Darling, don’t,” Niall rolled his eyes and gave her shoulder a squeeze. “He’s...he’s just the jealous type,” he whispered. “He’ll cool off. “Don’t stress,” he promised and headed out the door.
Once he left, she let herself have a small pity party while the coffee continued to pool on her desk and floor. Eventually, eyes cast toward the floor, she grabbed paper towels and started cleaning. On her hands and knees, she sniffled and wiped up the mess under her desk and she heard her phone vibrate from on top of her desk. It was Harry. Her heart rate increased rapidly, and her hands shook as she opened the message.
Don’t come over tonight.
Her heart broke.
*
Niall was unapologetically kind to her as the bad Thursday turned into a bad Friday. If wearing a skirt that didn’t stain was the highlight of her day yesterday, today it was Niall kindly asking nothing of her and reassuring her every time she forgot some simple tasks was today’s highlight.  She blamed Harry entirely for her restless sleep. Makeup could only do so much to hide the dark circles and bags that accumulated beneath her tear-reddened lash line.
Niall closed her office door to block out the hall and everyone from the rest of the floor. “You okay, darling?”
“He hates me,” she whispered.
“He is an idiot,” he said seriously. “You shouldn’t even forgive him.” She appreciated Niall’s effort, but it was lost on her with how sad she was. It felt like they were breaking up and they weren’t even together. “Can you tell me what happened? I can help,” he promised.
She shook her head. “Nothing,” she mumbled.
She should have just told him about the stupid, mean woman from the meeting. Niall would have probably marched right to Harry’s office requesting authority to fire her. Which was exactly what she didn’t want. He sighed sadly. “Alright, well...m’gonna just give you some space. Don’t worry about anything. Just take it easy...or go home early.”
She nodded. “Maybe after coffee,” she mumbled.
“Sure, darling. Whatever you want. You’ve earned it. Whatever it is.”
Niall grabbed his laptop, his bag, everything like he wouldn’t be back either. “Niall,” she whispered.
“Yes, darling?” He still gave her space not looking even though he wanted to assure her that everything was fine.
“He’s gonna fire me,” she sniffled.
Niall shook his head. “Absolutely not. I’d quit.”
She snorted a breath of laughter. It wasn’t much, but it was something. “Go home and sleep, love. That’s official intern work,” he said.
She nodded. “I’m sorry.”
“Don’t you dare apologize for his idiocy,” he shook his head. “Don’t give him all this credit. You have made his life so much better and if he wants to be mad then he should know of all people it shouldn’t be directed at you.”
She felt her lips tremble with a bout of fresh tears ready to spill. “Thank you.”
“Anytime, darling. I hope you tell me soon so I can help.”
She nodded but said nothing.
*
She texted Niall that she left his coffee and Harry’s tea on his desk. Then she messaged Louis and Eleanor.
Are you guys around? I’m heading home early.
It’s anniversary weekend, babe!
Shit.
Oh fuck, I am so sorry. Of course. I’m just feeling a little cloudy. Heading home. Have a great time. I love you both so much :)
She was impressed with her hiding skills. Thankfully, texting was a lot easier to hide her emotions. She walked home from the office. It was over two miles, but it would be cleansing, and she could always call for an uber if she got tired.
Maybe go to Harry’s if you’re feeling poorly, Louis suggested. She closed her eyes and sighed, wishing she could.
Yeah, good idea!
She assumed Louis would see right through that given she hadn’t once thought to purposefully bother Harry once in six months. So, she assumed the call that vibrated in her hand was Louis.
“Listen, I’m really—”
“Who the fuck answers a phone like that?”
No, no, no. NO. Her stomach dropped to her feet, and she froze mid step. The person walking behind her bumped into her, but she stood stalk still as the voice at the other end of the line processed through her ear drum. Her jaw dropped open, it felt like it would unhinge from the shock.
This could not be the same terrible day. What came after terrible? That was the word she needed right now to describe the last twenty four hours.
“Mom,” she breathed.
“Your father is dying,” she stated. “Not sure if you care. But thought you’d want to know in case you wanted to cash in on your inheritance,” she snipped. Her words were clipped, clear. Not slurred or confused at all. She wondered if it was hurting her to not have alcohol in her system. She heard the distinct sound of hospital beeps in the background.
It felt like someone was ripping her heart directly from her chest. “I’m sorry, what?” She whispered.
“For the love of God,” she hissed. “Your father is dying. Say goodbye if you want.”
The call ended.
Her hands were shaking. She somehow managed to put the phone in her bag. She was suddenly extremely aware of how cold it was. Or maybe it was the feeling in her chest.
She turned on her heel and headed back for the building. Work was the only thing that was going to occupy her mind but really, she just wanted to see someone who cared for her at that moment. For the first time in six months, she came to the sobering conclusion that she was really alone. There was no one to help her because there was no one that cared for her in that way anymore. Anyone currently in her life would find her bothersome and she couldn’t do that to them.
She couldn’t. She couldn’t see anyone. Niall was giving her space—and in turn appeasing Harry. Regardless of how much he liked her, he was still her boss. She couldn’t expect his comfort. Her brother was dead, and her dad was soon to be. Even if he wasn’t, her dad and mom hated her since her brother died. Louis and Eleanor were her best friends, but they had lives to live; she couldn’t bother them on their anniversary while they were out of town.
And Harry…
Well, Harry hated her guts.

Age: 362 (In canon and AU)
Height: 5'11 or 179cm
Voice Claim(s): Caleb Hyles
Tumblr media
Twisted from: Mother Gothel/Esther Gothel of Tangled
Unique Magic: "What Once was Mine" Through the use of magical herbs and alchemy, Ezra is able to capture the likeness of himself and other individuals. He can share and change other's physical features with these concoctions, ranging anywhere from shoe size to facial structure to vocal coords. These changes last as long as he desires as well as under his own set conditions at the cost of requiring outside materials to complete. Typically the magic is contained in what appears to be a type of spice or powder, and the change leaves a mark/tattoo on the individual which the magic is cast to indicate what exactly was changed.
Grade: Primarily teaches Sophomores and Juniors
Class: Teaches art and music, along with being the homeroom teacher of class 3-D.
Hobbies: Alchemy, botany, herbology, singing, painting, playing the harp, improv.
Likes: Broadway, theater, pasta alla gricia, small spaces, spring, jewelry, floral arrangements, experimental learning, any music.
Dislikes: Crickets, wrinkles, scars, wasted talent, mumbling/whispering, tracking time.
Fears: Aging, other Changeling Fae, not being recognized by those he cares for, forgetting people.
Summary: As the most easygoing teacher on the entirety of campus, many of the students and fellow staff members view him as a scatter-brained daydreamer. However, his dreams filled with immense passion, as he desires for nothing more than to watch his student's talent blossom... and keep the bloom contained and protected in a glass case.
Now, don't get him wrong! He has the best intentions, of course. There are many, many scary people and places out there in this Twisted Wonderland. People who would take advantage of such bright minds. He is simply preventing that from happening. The man has been around for a long time and has been through his own share of ordeals, so he would most definitely know.
He has a big heart. While he goes about an odd, constrictive way of showing it, he does truly care. He has a hard time letting things go, and he simply wants the best for those he cares for. Ezra would spoil every single one of his students rotten if he were able. Even as a rather new professor at NRC, he wishes to guide every single one of them on the right path.

Outfit Inspiration
Author's Notes: ARGHHH MY BOY... Ezra is a very new character I made only a few months ago. He was created specifically for TCOAV, but alas I have grown attached. Given we already have quite a few gaslight gatekeep girlboss type characters over here, I decided to focus more on twisting different aspects of Mother Gothel. I particularly focused on her parental tendencies as well as her means of "caring" for Rapunzel. Whereas whether Gothel truly cares for Rapunzel or not is still up in the air, and they truly had a toxic relationship nonetheless, I wanted to make Ezra a more misguided but good individual.

you and ellie find a baby while patrolling
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
꩜ CW: mention of gore , mention of infertility , father figure! ellie , fem! reader , pet names
꩜ synopsis: you and ellie find a baby while patrolling
sfw!
masterlist
☆—-------------------------------------------------------------—☆
No one knows how it happened. One patrol that was supposed to be normal ended up with you and Ellie finding an infant abandoned.
Ellie heard it first. The sound of clickers lurking in the heavily wooded forest just outside of Jackson. Of course, she never worried about it. Killing Infected was like stepping on bugs to her, but when she saw a group of people being torn up by them, she knew something was off.
You saw it all happen. A man had his entire arm dismembered, his screams piercing to yours and Ellie's eardrums. A woman's face was mutilated, her limp body making you feel sick. The third person of the group ran for a good while, managing to kill one of the clickers with a puny blade that didn't last long.
By the time you and Ellie had shot and killed the clickers, the people were all dead. The two of you were left alone in the forest, the only sound coming from the lacework of leaves above you and the crunching snow under your feet.
"You think they've got any loot on em'?"
You nod your head, already advancing towards them, trudging through the crunchy ice.
You both hear a noise, making you stop in your tracks first, Ellie right after. Your heart hammers in your entire body.
"Ellie, I thought you killed them?" You whisper, your voice caked with urgency.
"I did, babe!" She whisper-shouts, slowly approaching them with her gun drawn.
The noise happens again, this time more clear. It sounds like a cry, but not one that could've came from an adult.
You put your hand on top of Ellie's gun, slowly lowering it once you realize neither of you are in danger.
"Is that...?"
Sure enough, huddled by the cluster of dead infected and people, is an infant, kicking it's legs and squirming to be held. You heart instantly shatters into tiny bits and pieces, and you don't hesitate to scoop it up.
"What if it's infected?" Ellie says, thus receiving a dirty look from you.
"It's a baby."
"Have you seriously never seen the movie Gremlins?" She stifles a laugh, but you're too busy staring at the baby in your arms.
Ellie can see the look on your face. The motherly one that you've always had ever since she met you, even though you both know you can't have kids of your own. Ellie knows how much it broke your heart, knowing you can't have a baby. She always tried to tell you that it was okay and that she was happy just with you, but your heart always yearned for a child.
And now you're holding one.
"Babe..." She says softly, putting a comforting hand on your shoulder, "Let's just bring her to Maria."
"Ellie." You quickly say, looking at her with pleading eyes, "We were the last people to see her mother before she died." You motion at the woman with a bullet hole wound in her chest, and the swaddle wrapped around her body.
"What are you-"
"Can we keep her? Please?"
"Whoa, Y/N... this is a huge commitment, we can't just—" She stopped short when she saw the tears in your eyes, the baby leaning on your chest as if she had already warmed up to you. The look of you holding a child made Ellie's heart swell fuller than a river during a flood.
"Ellie. We can't just... leave her with Maria."
"Why not?"
"Because we can't." You say, sniffling and biting your lip, "Please."
She sighs, her shoulders dropping. She hates to tell you no, especially in a situation like this when she knows how upset it's making you, "Fine. Fine, okay, we'll take her home."
Your face lights up as you look at the little human leaning agains you, "Thank you thank you thank you! God, Ellie, I'm going to make this up to you."
Ellie rolls her eyes, a smile on her face as she creeps up behind you and rests her chin on your shoulder. Her hands hold your waist and she peppers gentle kisses on the length of your neck, "I like to see you happy, mama."

Miss last chapter? Here!
This one's a little longer than the last few, but it's one I was really excited to get to for a while. I hope you guys like it! We're starting to get into the nitty gritty! Once again please let me know what you think of it! Thank you all for your support :)
__________
After your emotional conversation with Pedro, you were worried he'd stop talking to you. At least, it seems that's how it usually works. Whenever you try to have a conversation about emotions with someone, it gets shut down. But surprisingly.. it didn't push Pedro away at all. The two of you talk nearly every day on the phone, and when you don't, it's made up for with plenty of text messages. You don't even have to be the first to communicate, either. It just feels natural. It doesn't need to be over-thought.
You keep telling yourself not to get your hopes up, but at the same time, you feel like maybe it's turning into something. Something more than friends. You couldn't help but wonder if Pedro felt the same way, or if maybe he's just a really nice guy.
Despite these feelings, you're still hesitant to tell him you love him. Although he put many of your fears to rest, you continued to be nervous. You were inexperienced. You were significantly younger than him. You led two very different lives. And even though he reassured you about your appearances, it doesn't mean you'd be his type once he actually saw you. Shoot, you don't even know if he's interested in pursuing a relationship.
Plus, now there's the risk of messing up a new friendship. Why ruin it?
How does anyone ever get into a relationship? Others make it look so easy, jumping from relationship to relationship like their heart isn't at stake.
Maybe someday you'd tell him. Maybe someday you'd share these other fears as well. But not yet. You weren't ready.
_____
About a week had gone by since you first talked on the phone, and it was around 1 PM when he called you.
"Hey Pedro!"
"Hey there, songbird," he replied cheerily.
"Songbird?" You giggled.
"If you hate it-"
"No, I love it. It's sweet," you blushed.
"Okay good. But the reason I'm calling is because I saw something on Instagram…"
"Oh yeah? What of?"
"About you. When were you going to tell me?"
Oh fuck. Oh shit. Oh what? What is he referring to?
You nervously laughed "I… what? Tell you what now?"
"Your album is coming out in a WEEK!??!" He practically yelled with excitement.
Seriously… this guy. Giving me a damn heart attack.
"OH" you replied sheepishly. "You scared me, thinking you heard… I dunno"
"Oh! I'm sorry. No. I haven't heard any information that you haven't told me yourself, nor would I believe it anyway. Other than.. this album!!!" Pedro announced like a gameshow host.
You laughed before replying "yes, yes, the album comes out next week! They just announced it I guess."
Pedro clapped and shouted. "CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I'm so happy and proud of you!!!!!!!!"
You weren't looking in a mirror, and he couldn't see you either, but you could bet money that your cheeks were a bright shade of pink. "Thank you, Pedro!" You giggled, your face beginning to hurt from the large smile he caused.
"How are you celebrating? Is the studio doing anything for you?"
"Well they mentioned an album release party, but being that nobody really knows me I don't know who I would even invite. Plus I'm not sure that a large thing like that is how I'd like to show myself to the world. A little too ceremonious for my liking." You grimaced.
"Well, I happen to think you deserve something ceremonious, even if you don't think you do. And I think we should celebrate."
"We - you - you do? You mean…?" You stuttered in disbelief.
"You and me," he said matter-of-factly.
"You.. and… What did you have in mind?"
Frankly you didn't know what to think.
"Well. I was thinking… Maybe we could listen to the album together? We could talk on the phone and listen, and it would be like our own little album release party. You wouldn't have to show yourself or meet people. It would just be like our normal conversations. Except I'd get to hear your new music and talk about it with you. If you want," he said, sounding slightly nervous.
Your heart swelled at the gesture and you agreed happily. The two of you made a plan to "meet" at 7PM and listen together the night of your album release. And he promised he wouldn't listen without you.
_____
It wasn't until after you were off the phone with him that you began to overthink the songs on your album. Not unlike your first single, these were also rather vulnerable at times. Sure, he knew a lot, and he'd listen to the album anyway. Probably. But still. To hear it… together? You were starting to feel like you were in over your head.
Nevertheless, the week continued on like normal. Work, talking to Pedro, hanging with Skipper. You agreed to a few more interviews in article or voice format after the release, and signed a few last minute things.
As the album date approached closer, Pedro texted you one day.
"Okay I'm going to ask you something and I want you to trust me okay. I'm not going to do anything that I know you would hate."
"Okay…" what does this man have up his sleeve?
"Can I have your address?"
Why does he want my address???? The panic settled in. But, you did like him; and he hadn't crossed any boundaries yet. In fact, he's been one of the most understanding of your qualms.
So. You sent him your address.
"Thank you ❤️" Pedro replied.
A heart !?! A red one!?
"You're welcome. Also… I was planning to tell you anyway, but if you're looking for my address I may as well tell you…" you told him your real name. Not your stage name. Not a nickname. But your name. First, Last. All of it.
"Thank you for trusting me. I promise I'll keep it safe," reassured Pedro.
"Thank you, P."
"Of course. You have a beautiful name, by the way."
Your heart did a somersault.
_____
The album release date was finally here and you aren't sure you slept a wink. You were a bundle of nerves and excitement. You loved him and always enjoyed chatting together. This was exciting. But also these songs are so personal. This is a big moment. This was a big plan. And why did he want your address anyway?
~~~~~
Meanwhile at Pedro's place, he was just as nervous. He had started out excited, but then he got into his head. His plans for the evening started feeling too romantic. He didn't want you to get the wrong idea. He liked you, but he didn't want to push it. Maybe he was showing too many feelings towards you. You love someone else, and him not respecting that is rude. All you want is a friend and he's just going to seem like another one of those creepy guys trying to get into your pants.
But it was too late now, the plans were in motion, and maybe you'd enjoy it. Who knows. Either way, he loved your friendship, and friends could do this kind of thing for each other… right??
~~~~~
Throughout the day, you paced your house before finally leaving with Skipper in tow. "We gotta get some air, buddy. I'm losing it over here," you said while clipping his leash.
Stepping out of the house, you two went for a long walk, circled back toward home, and plopped down on your lawn. The house still felt too small in preparation for this evening, whatever it was. Why does it feel different anyway? It's just another phone call..? Unless….
Truth be told, while Pedro had his secret plans, you also had some of your own. Whether you followed through with them or not was up to your nerves.
After some sunbathing with your pup, you both head inside. The sun was starting to set, and you realized it was getting closer to the meetup time you chose with Pedro.
_____
6 PM.
You stared at the TV, not really absorbing anything on the screen, but needing a distraction. This afternoon you opted for a show that Pedro was not in. For once, you needed to not see his handsome face. You needed something else. Half paying attention while picking at a hangnail, you jump out of your skin at the sight of your phone lighting up. Pedro texted.
"Picking out my outfit for tonight! Always important to look nice for celebration."
Shit… he's not coming over is he?! That's why he wanted my address?!
"Wait…" you pondered how to phrase your question without sounding like a panicked asshole, when all you wanted to say was "what the fuck do you MEAN!?!"
I'm not dressed. I'm in sweats and covered in dog hair. I don't have makeup on. Oh no.
"Wait… is that why you wanted my address?"
"Oh. Nooo, no no. No, sweet girl, don't worry. I'm not coming over unexpectedly and interrupting your hiding place. I just think it's still important to dress nice."
"Oh..Okay.."
It was around 6:15 when he texted a picture of himself wearing a white button up with a dark blue suit and matching tie. He wore dark-frame glasses and his hair was slightly tamed, but still showed his messy curls. He looked gorgeous.
But as you scanned his body you noticed that instead of dress shoes, he wore a pair of polka dot socks. He had a goofy grin and his one eyebrow was cocked. You grinned.
"All dressed up and nowhere to go," he said.
"You're a goof, P. But I appreciate the effort."
A pause.
"Also, you look really handsome" you nervously hit send before you had a chance to chicken out.
Bold. Probably shouldn't have said that. But hey, friends compliment each other.
"Why thank you. A big accomplishment like this requires all the stops."
He timed this message right to the minute. As you read his text, your doorbell rang.
You opened the door to find two boxes. One large, one small. A delivery boy was getting into his car.
"Delivery from your biggest fan.
-❤️, P"
He… he sent me some kind of care package?? And put a heart? And said he's my biggest fan?
You squealed and carried the boxes into the house. "What's this!?" You texted Pedro.
"Open them and see!"
You immediately open them. Inside the larger box was a variety of items. The first thing you noticed was a small vase holding a bouquet of your favorite flowers. To the right of that was a bag, which you opened and found your favorite meal, from your favorite restaurant.
Wow, this is elaborate.
Below the food was another small bag holding your favorite dessert, and finally to the left, your favorite drink.
I can't believe he remembered all of my favorite things.. This is so thoughtful.
When you moved the flower vase, you noticed one more small item. Is that a… corsage?? You texted Pedro the question.
"Yep!" He sent, with a photo of a matching flower on his lapel.
Remembering you still had the small box, you opened the box flaps, wondering what could possibly be left for him to give you. On top of it was another note.
"For a handsome boy.
- ❤️, your mom's friend, Pedro"
Under the note was a jar of peanut butter, a squeaky anchor toy, and…? What's this?
You unwrap a small paper wrapping to find a dog-sized black bowtie. Shut up.
"SKIPPER!!! Look what Pedro gave you, buddy!"
He padded over to you and let you hook the dressy accessory around his neck. With the clip adjusted, he sat back, looking proud of his new fashion. You quickly snapped a picture and texted it to Pedro.
"I can't believe you did all this, Pedro. Not only did you send all this, but you remembered my favorite things? You remembered all the details from when I first met Skipper. My favorite food, dessert, drink, and flower? That's so sweet, this is all too much Pedro..  Nobody has ever done anything like this for me. I.. I don't even know what to say."
You're amazing and I love you. Is what I want to say.
"You're welcome." He texted back. "Like I said, you deserve a celebration. Plus…"
Pedro sent a photo of his table, set up with the same food and drink, with the caption "now it's like we're having a dinner party."
It was nearing the time to meet, but you still had to do one more thing. You had pondered it earlier in the day, but fully decided it when Pedro sent the photo of himself dressed up. It's now or never.
_____
6:45 PM.
Pedro sat waiting for a reply after he sent his dinner photo. It had only been a couple minutes, but his hands were sweaty and his leg was shaking under the table. Finally, his phone went off. You sent… a video?
He opened it and pressed play. There, he saw you rotating your wrist with the corsage on it. The first time he's ever seen your wrist, hand, or arm before. The first time he's even seen your skin tone.
Geez you act like you're in the Victorian ages, pull yourself together, he rolled his eyes at himself for being so overjoyed.
Next, the video panned to Skipper in his bowtie, looking handsome as ever. The camera zoomed in on him and he looked up into the view with his big brown eyes.
And then…
The camera panned to the side, and showed a mirror. A full length mirror, where you stood. He scanned your body from your perfectly done up hair and makeup, down your body to your dress. You wore your favorite dress, (in your favorite color, he noted) which showed off your body in the best ways. He looked down to the floor and noticed that you too were wearing fun socks instead of shoes. You wore a pair of striped socks and wrote in your caption "all dressed up and nowhere to go."
His heart picked up and he could feel himself breathing unevenly. He finally saw you. And you were gorgeous. He couldn't help the smile that enveloped his face.
Fuck. She's beautiful… I'm screwed.
She loves someone else. She loves someone else. She loves someone else. Forget your feelings.
Despite his struggle, he knew he wanted, and needed, to tell you how beautiful he thought you looked. This was a big step to show yourself, and he also knew how self-conscious you felt about your body.
"Wow, you're so beautiful."
You blushed, replying with a quick thank you with a heart, then sending a second message asking if he was ready to listen. The video wasn't the only trick you had planned up your sleeve tonight.
______
The clock turned to 7 PM and Pedro hit the dial for your number. You answered the phone and said a quick "hang on" to set up the shared listening party link for your album. Once sent, you took a deep breath and steadied your nerves. Then, you took the plunge.
"Okay I got the link! I'm so exci - what - wait, is this an accident?" Pedro's hand fumbled as he received your incoming video chat request, his heart picking up to a galloping pace.
"Nope! You can answer it. If you want.."
He quickly swiped the accept button and there you were. Clad in your favorite dress, sitting at a table with the meal he sent in front of you. He could see himself in the corner square, dressed in his suit, with nearly the identical table setup and food.
He couldn't help but notice on his own video screen that his cheeks were turning rosy and his mouth curled into a large smile. But he was too happy to be shy about his blush.
"So this is you," he said.
"This is me," you replied shyly, but still with a huge smile and blush plastered on your face, matching Pedro's.
"You look.." he sighed shakily "..wow.."
"You look pretty wow yourself there," you said with a shy giggle.
Both of you let out gentle laughs, feeling a warm glow as your stomachs felt matching butterflies of nerves, excitement, and… maybe something else.
"So should we listen, I guess?" You asked nervously.
He didn't answer. He was looking at the screen, eyes scanning the video.
Is he blushing? You wondered. But why would he be? He doesn't like me back… right?
He still hadn't answered you when you finally said "Pedro?? Did you hear me?"
He snapped out of it, somehow turning more crimson. "Oh! Sorry… yeah! Let's listen."
Your nerves were off the charts. Some of these songs were so vulnerable. The ones at the end of the album were the most telling of all.
But as the two of you ate your dinners while listening to your new album, you began to relax. The night was filled with him giving praise and you giving background information on the meanings and production of the songs.
"Are all the different instruments and harmonies played by you?"
"They are! The studio offered studio musicians but I had originally played them all when I wrote it and wanted to keep it a one woman show."
"You're incredible," Pedro said, shaking his head.
You blushed, for the billionth time today.
When it came to "Imaginary Love" Pedro grinned. "Hey I know this one! The one that started it all."
"Yep!" You agreed and he began lip syncing to the lyrics dramatically. Little did he know, those lyrics were actually about him. You giggled as he acted out a soulful rendition of the chorus.
"You know, this whole journey has been a real rollercoaster and there have been times I've wished I hadn't posted that song..."
Pedro looked at you with that puppy dog look of his and you continued "but then I remember… that if I never posted it, I would've never started talking to you, and it makes it all worth it."
Pedro placed his hand on his heart and pouted his lip. "I agree. I'm glad to have met you. If I didn't love this song already, that alone would be enough reason for me to consider it one of my favorites.
You grinned and looked down at the table, suddenly feeling shy. The two of you continued to listen, having long finished your dinner. Conversation flowed easily, and you couldn't help but feel like you were on a date. Not that you had much experience with that, but from what you'd seen in movies and shows, this felt very date-like. And you didn't want it to end.
But as the album went on, you approached the last two songs. The ones you were scared of most. The most vulnerable of the album.
The second to last began to play.
'It's hard to imagine craving something that I've never had.
Dumb to be so desperate for something I've gone without.
But when I'm alone and thinking to myself, I need it so bad.
I crave it like a drug, but one I know nothing about.
Your kiss on my lips, or any kiss at all.
It hasn't happened yet, no matter how hard I fall.
The years keep passing, but still no love.
The years go by, but still no kisses.
I keep wondering and praying up above,
I guess I'm unkissable, despite my wishes.'
Pedro furrowed his brow, looking at you, searching for something. He read the title of the song, "Unkissable," and looked up again, opening and closing his mouth to find the right words.
"Do-" he stopped himself and pondered his wording again. "Is- are all these songs true?"
You stared at the table, picking your nail against the wood. "Yes."
"You really believe that?"
"... I mean… I don't know… maybe… I guess…" you avoided his gaze, but could feel it.
"And you've never-"
"Kissed anyone before? No. I haven't."
"But you've wanted to?"
"Yes," you whispered, starting to feel tears prick at your eyes.
Pedro shifted his lips to the side in thought before finally saying "well… you're still young. It'll happen."
"I'm 26, Pedro. Most people have kissed by the time they've graduated high school. I just… missed the boat I guess. It's okay. I'm just being silly. I don't want it that bad. We can maybe listen to something else now."
"Hey, hey. Don't shut down on me," he asked pleadingly. "26 is still very young, and don't worry about whenever everyone else has done things. Everyone does things at their own pace. I'm sorry you haven't experienced it yet, especially when you want it so badly, but I know that when it does happen, it'll probably be better than any kiss you would've had with some 15 year old boy you would've had in high school."
You laughed, breaking your tears for a minute. "Thanks Pedro."
"Of course. And hey, don't think of yourself as unkissable. Any guy should be so lucky to be with you. Maybe the guy you wrote about in your song will be your first."
"Maybe… I hope so. Thank you."
While your heart bloomed at the kind words and prospect of maybe kissing Pedro in the future, Pedro's heart began to ache. Not only was he sad for you when you wanted love so desperately, but he also couldn't help but feel sad hearing you want to kiss another man. He wants to be that guy for you. He wasn't joking when he said any man would be lucky. But especially knowing now your true age, 22 years younger than him, he knew for sure your crush couldn't be him. You were way too young to be interested in a 48 year old man. He was silly for even entertaining the idea.
But at least he had a new friend. And as he thought longer, he thought about his best friend Sarah, and her relationship. They have a huge age gap, 32 years, but they're happy. And he's happy for her. It doesn't feel weird with them. Could he have that with you? Or is he in over his head?
The last song on the album began to play. This one was less vulnerable, but if he decided to look at the lyrics and notice patterns, he'd see it in the chorus.
'People have a lot to say
Everyone loves or hates me
Don't know what I did today
Right now you're all I can see
Only want to be with you.
Please, love me too.'
You're sure the obsessive listeners will figure out the acrostic, and if Pedro looks up the lyrics, he might too. But either way, it's out there. All you can do is hope for the best and eventually you're sure it'll come out anyway.
 This wasn't one you were sure about putting on the album, but when the studio read through your personal songbook, they went insane over it. They figured it out quickly, and they promised they'd keep it to themselves. Luckily they have so far, but if money came calling, you think they'd sell your heart faster than you could say no.
The song, and album, came to a close and Pedro looked up at the screen once again, staring into your eyes. "Once again your music has blown me away."
Whether he put together the end or not, he wasn't letting on.
"Thank you Pedro. I really appreciate it. And thank you for tonight. It was truly special and I mean it when I say it's the most thoughtful thing anyone has ever done for me. You didn't have to go through all that trouble," you said thoughtfully.
"It was no trouble. You deserve congratulations for your album," Pedro replied with a smile.
Right.. it's just a congratulations. Nothing else. You sighed.
"Thank you. I'm really glad we did this. Talk again soon?" You asked.
"Absolutely. It was wonderful to meet you finally," Pedro said, finishing the sentence with your real name and smiling.
"It was great to meet you too, Pedro."

O4. the student council [fanboy!scaramouche x drummer!reader] ⎯⎯ heartbeat rhythm series
Tumblr media
"hey, i can't have you sleeping on me," scaramouche snaps, taking ahold of your wrist to drag you away from you were previously spacing out in the middle of the hallway. you mutter a quick apology and sheepishly grin. it just feels so weird to actually keep up a conversation, let alone spend time, with him.
he lets go of you the second he realizes what he's doing. he looks to the side with a flustered face. 'i held them for a moment.' scaramouche covers his mouth with one hand, 'their wrists are so firm... all that drumming surely strengthens their hands.'
scaramouche stops in his tracks and points to a door. "the rest of the student council members are there, i'll introduce you to them. but of course, i already know that you know ayaka and yanfei." he's bound to reach for the knob but freezes up when you unknowingly begin to feed his ego.
"you know about that? oh, you must have done research! that's very thorough of you, president. i could never balance grades with council stuff..." you sweatdrop and laugh it off. it's not very often that you're able to indulge in such things like this, since you're frequently absorbed with band activities.
and it's exactly the reason why yun jin calls you awkward. all that fame and lack of interacting with people outside of your fanbase must have gotten you rusty on communication. scaramouche doesn't turn his head to look at you, but sighs. "buttering me up with those words won't get you anywhere."
you continue to sweat in confusion as he opens the door, leaving you speechless. are you trying to kill the poor guy!? archons, the pace of his heartbeat was all over the place that he needed a moment! scaramouche exhales through his nose and relaxes his shoulders.
"oh, look! mister 'mouche is back!" kaeya playfully exclaims. yanfei looks up from her clipboard, "good afternoon, president. i see you have (name) with you."
scaramouche sneers, "obviously; you're not blind or anything. (name), that's kaeya. kazuha's the guy with the red streak, he's over there working on decorations with the brown haired girl, amber." you slowly nod your head with every sentence he says, even though you can hardly keep up with how distracted you are with his pretty eyes.
ayaka stammers, "k-kaeya, isn't that a little too much confetti to be ordering?" kaeya waves her off, "it'll be fine-" scaramouche snatches the tablet from the taller male. "i thought i was clear about the fact that ayaka is in charge of the orders. you're on backstage duty with yanfei."
kaeya chuckles, "geez, alright. does that mean i get to meet the little guest you brought along with you?" scaramouche furrows his brows, "save some face before i punch it, bastard. yanfei, go do a stage check with kaeya."
yanfei hums as she drags kaeya away, "c'mon, big guy. your brother's not going to be happy to hear you've been up to your usual antics." kaeya whines, "you're such a tattletale, you know that!? just 'cause he's your tutor or whatever..."
amber exclaims, "hey, president!" she stands in front of scaramouche and makes it very clear that she's angry with that glare of hers. "you didn't even discuss this with the rest of us but instantly assumed that we'd go on board with this whole band performance just because you're the president."
scaramouche raises a brow, "and?" the brunette groans, "what do you mean and!? i'm saying that you should at least tell us before making last minute changes. i thought we weren't going to do anything big this year because of the budget." you're anxiously standing by scaramouche as he continues to bicker with amber.
scaramouche scoffs, "i'm paying for all of the costs anyways, what does it matter to you, or the school? we have to admit that the school fes last year was horrible, who even thought of some choir performance?" amber put her foot down, "me, you asshole! and barbara was great, you just don't have good music taste!"
you deadpan, 'i have a feeling i'm not supposed to be here.' you look over to where kazuha and ayaka were making crafts for decor. ayaka ushers you over with her hand and you approach the two. kazuha smiles, "sorry about them, they're always like this. want one?" he holds up a chocolate chip cookie in front of you.
you sigh in relief, 'he's so sweet, just like ayaka.' you happily accept his offer and ayaka clasps her hands together, "you can stay and help us out, if you want." you haven't even replied but scaramouche comes out of nowhere to interfere. "they didn't come here to do our job, ayaka. (name), let's go."
"i'll see you later, aya! and thanks, kazuha!" you quickly greet them farewell and follow scaramouche out of the room. amber crosses her arms with a pout, "he gets on my nerves all the time. i feel bad for that person." ayaka looks elsewhere, muttering, "oh, you don't know how much they like him..."
scaramouche promptly brushes off his shoulder, "amber doesn't know what she's talking about. i hate hard-headed people like her." deep down, you fight back the urge to point out the hypocrisy in his words. "she should just learn her place and move on." scaramouche narrows his eyes and leads you outside to where the outdoor stage is.
he could see yanfei setting up the amps but kaeya? nowhere in sight. scaramouche clicks his tongue inside his mouth, "where did he go now?" yanfei flatly replies, "he went back inside to hide from you in the washroom stalls."
an irk mark appears on scaramouche's forehead. he tsks, "he's a dead man. yanfei, help (name) set up their drums while i look for him." the second scaramouche disappears behind the school doors, you instantly run towards the stage and up the steps to get to yanfei.
you squeeze her in your embrace, "uuuh, i don't know what to dooo..." yanfei softly sighs, "you look like you're doing great so far, don't worry. oh and," she put a finger up and a playful smirk tugs at the corner of her lips, "you should give the cd to him after you're done for the day. trust me, he'll love it."
you frown and pull away from her, "sure, but the only thing im worried about is performing. i've never performed in front of someone without the others." yanfei gave you an encouraging head pat, "you'll do amazing. here, what song are you going to cover?" she hands you the tablet and peers over your shoulder.
"mm... oh, i know! nevermind, he might not like lovey-dovey songs. ah, maybe-! ugh, no, too dark. what about — too boring-" the pink haired female suddenly flicks you in the forehead. you whine, "i'm sorry, but i don't know, okay!?" yanfei shakes her head, "give me that. here, you can cover one of hokago tea time's songs, alright?"
your eyes light up, "really?" she chuckles, "yeah. this song good?" you eagerly nod and yanfei gives you another pat on the head. "i can't believe you actually brought your hello kitty snare drum," she comments while walking away to set up your cymbals. you rush over to help her.
"hm, if he doesn't like it, it's his problem." you huff and put down your (color) snare case. you unzip it and take out your snare as yanfei finishes up with prepping your entire drum set. she heads to the side of the stage and pulls up your drum throne. you beam, "i missed my darling so much!"
yanfei settles it from behind the drums and grins. "so much for taking a break from band activities. at least madame faruzan's agency isn't on you five as constant as before." you nod along to her statement and place your snare in front of the drum throne.
you and yanfei perk up at the sound of the school doors swinging open. scaramouche drags kaeya behind him by the tie of his shirt. "come on, i don't want to waste any more time than i already have. yanfei, do a quick sound check and (name), you better not disappoint me for the sake of your band's reputation."

Look for me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ellie X Ghost!Reader (kinda.)
WC: 974
Approx. read time: ~7.5 minutes
A/N: I don't typically write things like this, go easy on me lol. I know this was more focused on you than it was her, but i'm just trying to build some plot here y'all.
WARNINGS: Depictions of death, swearing, themes that people may find disturbing(?), depictions of blood, eventual smut, reader and ellie weren't exactly friends, reader lowkey being a stalker ??, ideas used and borrowed from a24's "talk to me", reader isn't exactly masc or fem. (lmk if i missed any)
Synopsis: After your sudden and honestly rather untimely death at the hands of a freak accident, you find yourself going after the one person you knew would believe you were there. The question is, when will she catch you?
note: please keep in mind i wrote this for fun, therefore this isn't the best. this part is for plot building only.
(NOT PROOF READ)
The heat was getting to you today. It was hot unlike any other day before now. It made you feel lazy, making you perfectly unaware of your surroundings as you sat underneath a tree in a ditch effort to cool off. Considering you worked on a ranch this probably wasn't the best idea. As you closed your eyes and leaned your head against the tree, you didn't see the horse hop the fence. You didn't hear your friend desperately calling for you to get out of the way. Hell, you barely noticed the sound of the horse barreling towards you until it was too late. It was just a flash of fur and flying hooves before everything went black. The last things you heard before you ultimate death were the cries of fear from the people around you, the sounds of people running back and forth, the dialing of someone's phone. You didn't exactly know what happened but you knew where it was leading you.
.
.
.
You didn't exactly know what to expect from death. Heaven? Hell? A dark abyss? A never-ending cycle of life ahead of you? Nothing could have prepared you for what actually happened. As soon as your head cleared from the strange fog surrounding it, you sat back up in the same field. The same goddamn ranch you could have sworn you just died at. Everything seemed fine until you noticed it. It, of course, being your own body. Bloody and lifeless, being loaded onto a stretcher as your mother cried helplessly on the sidelines. The only person that wasn't in complete hysterics was the stable hand. You thought her name was Ellie, but you couldn't really remember. You two always got along but never really considered each other as friends. But, you were coworkers. You weren't there to hold hands and sing kumbaya. She was the last thing on your mind right now. What the hell had you just watched? If that was your body...did that seriously mean you were a ghost? This was utterly ridiculous. You didn't even believe in ghosts. But here you were. Living proof that ghosts in fact were a thing. Who would even be able to know you were still here? Were there even things people could actually use to talk to you? Your head was swimming with these thoughts as you watched the chaos unfold in front of you. If only you had paid any sort of attention.
.
.
.
It had now been months since your little accident and you were bored out of your mind. You hung around the ranch to no avail. You were desperate to get someone's, anyone's attention. You knocked over hay, tangled bridles, even let some of the cows loose in the middle of the night yet nobody ever thought to suspect a ghost. Well, everyone except for Ellie. Whenever you stood by her you knew she sensed you. Her hairs would stand on end, her body becoming tense as soon as you drew closer. Bingo. She was your way back in. Your original plan was to just follow her home and get her attention...but of course you went off track just a little bit. You were so damn bored that you thought it was only fair to mess with her a bit. You started small, simply hiding her phone on occasion or turning the lights off before she reached them. But you felt such a sick thrill whenever she went pale or looked around for whoever was messing with her. You just had to keep going. You went from playing around to straight up tormenting her within a week. You watched her from the moment she got up to the moment she went to sleep. She felt your eyes on her wherever she went and it made her feel crazy. She knew something was there, but what? She didn't know what to do with herself anymore. Each trick you played, each scare you gave her drove her farther off the edge. Sure, you felt a little bad when you saw her up late at night curled up in her blankets like a child but it didn't out weight the satisfaction you got from watching her shake and scream. This was much to Ellie's dismay. She was determined to end this once and for all.
.
.
.
You never expected her to get smart with you. To wake up and realize she could easily contact you if she tried. That's why you felt this creeping suspicion growing in your heart one evening as Ellie sat down at her coffee table with a...ceramic hand? You felt oddly drawn to it. It was so out of character for her to be bringing in such a weird object out of the blue like this. What the hell was she going to do with it? Shake its hand? You narrowed your eyes as she laced her fingers with the pale white ones of object.
"Talk to me."
She murmured, her grip tightening on the hand as she did. Much to your amusement, as she spoke, it was almost as if the hand was beckoning you closer to it. You inched closer to the table. For all Ellie knew, this thing was just a hoax. She let out an annoyed sigh, unlocking her fingers from the hand.
"Fucking kids, selling me random shit they probably made in their backyard."
You couldn't help but chuckle at her attitude. She bought this from some child because she thought she was going crazy? This was too good. You couldn't just let her leave now. You had to prove to her that she was in fact going crazy. You set your hand down on the ceramic one. As soon as you did, Ellie's eyes widened. She could finally see you. What's worse, she even recognized you.
"...It's you."
